S C JOHNSON WAX 10122 32OZ Windex Out Cleaner

S C JOHNSON WAX 10122 32OZ Windex Out CleanerI''ve used this once on windows that hadn''t had a good cleaning in a couple of years. First, the sprayer is very easy to use. The connection to the hose screwed on without an issue, and there are three options on the dial to choose from (off, spray, clean). I was able to do my whole two-story house with about 20 windows in less than 45 mins. Overall, the windows do look much cleaner with no streaks, but there are some water marks left behind. The water marks are pretty hard to notice but that''s why I couldn''t give it 5 stars. Overall excellent price/performance.

I''ve been using it for over 10 years now and it works great. I recommend to not use their garden hose applicator, unless you have a second story window you simply can''t get to. I have had the best success (and use less of the product) this way (1) mix a little Windex outdoor into a small bucket of water (2) wet window with a hose (3) apply water-Windex mix with a scrubber part of a window washer squeegee (4) let set for a minute (5) rinse off with a hose. Yes, you do "scrub" the window slightly as you apply the water and Windex mix, but the real payoff is you don''t have to wipe the window dry.

I was so disappointed when my local grocery store stopped carrying this item, but delighted to find it at Amazon. Before, I discovered this product, I used to spend hours scrubbing my outside windows, then wiping them to try to eliminate every bit of residue left behind. Unfortunately, there would always be a few streaks after all that work.

This cleaner is easy to use, no wiping and it leaves the windows relatively streak-free. It also works through screens, which is a special bonus for me, because mine are difficult to remove. All in all, this is a great product if you want an easier way to clean outside windows.

This product is a great idea for those of us who don''t have time to get out and scrub the windows. It makes a lot of sense to mix a concentrate to the water from a garden hose, which gives the pressure needed and makes rinsing easy.

If only it were so simple. The fittings are of such poor quality that the hose does not want to stay attached for very long, even with very low pressure. And the instructions tell you to manually brush or scrub any stubborn dirt prior to using the unit. What happened to the part where we don''t have to scrub manually?!

I spent a morning trying to clean my back windows (thankfully I didn''t do the frontsthe neighbors would''ve thought they were watching one of the 3 Stooges as the hose popped off, soaking me several times).

It gave me a good opportunity for comparison thougha bucket of water with a little bit of vinegar and a few drops of detergent, mopped onto the front windows and rinsed with a garden hose did a better job with less effort for less money and less of a mess in the same amount of time.

That''s what I get for trying to be lazy!

The Windex product would be ideal if it were of better construction, with better gaskets and tighter fit. I presume that the chemical solution is adequate. I''m not sure if it''s "green".

I would pay more for this product if it were better-built. And I would even buy concentrate refills. I think this is what happens to a good concept one the number-crunchers get a hold of it. Too bad.

This is an excellent product but hard to find. Just use it as directed. DO NOT let it dry on the windows or spray it when there is direct sun on the windows or you get streaks. Cleans lots of stuff and I was real happy that spiders drop dead shortly after a good bath of it. I live on a lake and the spiders, bugs, spider poop and webs are a real mess.

Waterpik Power Spray Shower Head Save 35% Off

Waterpik Power Spray Shower HeadWhen I first purchased this product I had high hopes but was initially disappointed. The previous Waterpik showerheads I had purchased had flow regulators located within the brackets that I''ve always removed for greater water pressure... The instructions have always detailed how to remove the device if you desired to do so. This showerhead and its paperwork made no mention of a flow regulator and no such device was located in it''s typical location (the showerhead bracket) so I figured that the flow of water was solely regulated by the adjustment on the handle that enables the user to set the pressure from high to a trickle and anything in between. Unfortunately, once I started using the product I felt that the water pressure wasn''t sufficient even set on high. I had this product uninstalled and was ready to repackage it for return before I decided to start tinkering with it. Though the instructions do not make mention of it, they moved the flow regulator from the bracket to hid it inside the handle of the showerhead itself. They obviously did not intend on people removing this part because you need a pair of needle nosed pliers to reach in far enough to pry it out, however, removing this device has transformed this product into the best showerhead I''ve owned with more than enough water pressure. It takes some of the "eco" out of the equation, however, you still retain the ability to adjust the water pressure anywhere from full power to a trickle using the adjustable knob built into the handle so you get the best of both worlds. I''ve also uploaded a picture in the customer images for a visual description of the flow regulator that needs to be removed should you also desire the best water pressure possible.

If you''ve read Waterpik reviews on some of their other products, you might not want to buy their products. Common descriptions are "cheap", "plastic", and so on. I''d purchased this product before reading those reviews, and was pretty nervous about installing it. We were replacing our Hansgrohe showerhead, a very expensive and well made showerhead that started falling apart after 10 years.

Warning: my husband cut himself on the sharp plastic packaging, so be careful. That was the worst of it, though, because the showerhead took all of 5 minutes to install. All you need is a plumbing wrench. You don''t need any plumbing tape (like Hansgrohe), and it promised not to leak. I was pretty skeptical.

This showerhead was so much better than I''d expected. It doesn''t drip at all, not at the base and not thru the unused shower holes. It has 7 settings (you have a choice of waterflows: high, medium and low) which are so much fun to switch around! The High and Medium waterflow settings gave us so much more power than our Hansgrohe showerhead that rinsing my long hair took seconds, compared to minutes with our old showerhead. This thing makes showering great.

The true test came when our waterbill arrived. I was expecting a higher waterbill since we''re getting such powerful showers. But No! Even on high waterflow, our bill was lower than it was with our old showerhead. We''re actually saving money because we don''t need to spend so long in the shower.

Here is the thing: I paid less than $40 for the showerhead and you should too. Good luck!

The installation was a breeze with barely the need for any tools.

The material looks quite pricey .. and not some cheap plastic.

Although for a "green" supporter you have the eco option the shower with a high option is simply out of this world.

The jet spray does give you quite a massage and a good one at it.

All of a sudden my entire family is now spending a lot more time taking our shower.

Guess what, no one is complaining!

I bought this upgrade on sale elsewhere and was very disappointed. In fact, when I finish this warning I''ll write Water-Pik directly to share my complaints. I''ve used Water-Pik shower massage products for over 30 years; love ''em. I highly recommend massaging to stimulate circulation. But Water-Pik has so limited the flow with this model that the massage function, which is the only reason to buy one of these in the first place, doesn''t "massage" at all. You can tell it''s trying to pulse but not strongly enough to do anything. but there is hope. Thanks to Kevin''s picture I was able to finally defang this thing. I''d unscrewed the two basket-strainer/pressure-reducers, one in the mounting assembly and one in the handle''s inlet. I''d even disembowled the backflow preventer, as it too adds pressure drop. And I''d upped my water pressure from 45 psi to 60 psi all to no avail. Then I tried Kevin''s trick and plucked out the red restrictor deep to the basket filter in the handle base. Voila! Now I''ve got a Shower-Massage! Water-Pik should really have included this tip with the instructions (and a pair of needle-nose pliers). I wonder how many people have either thrown the thing away or returned it to the store in disgust before finding this fix. Oh, and can someone explain the advantage to designing the mounting lock ring with left hand theads?

This showerhead has a great variety of modes from pulsating, to mist, to concentrated, to a mixture of all of those. It has very good water pressure, so you won''t have trouble getting the conditioner out of your hair, and the fact that it is removable is awesome. I find zero problems with it. Great!

Designer Water Filter Purifier Faucet All Chrome Save 71% Off

Designer Water Filter Purifier Faucet All ChromeWe connected this to our new Culligan water filter system (US-EZ-4 Under-sink). It is all-metal. I rate it as clearly superior to both the Watts "standard faucet" (which leaked after some years) or the plastic one that came with the Culligan kit (Culligan US-EZ-4 EZ-Change Level 4 Under-Sink Drinking Water System). A faucet is a permanent fixture that you''ll use every day so it''s worth spending the extra bucks to get a superior product.

The faucet handle gives precise on-off and flow-control adjustment.

This is the third faucet we have had for our under the sink water filter. The first Culligan one was cheap plastic crap that did not last long. The second was better, a lever device, but after about a year began leaking, with no way to repair it. This one is a REAL faucet, with an adjustable flow handle that looks and works great. Another thing I like is the fact that the faucet has a higher arc than the others, making filling jugs and pots easier. Plus, if and when it develops a leak, the handle comes off like a normal facet for repairs. In addition, it was easy to install and all parts were included for both a copper line and plastic line install.

It would be hard to beat this faucet for the price. If it had a brand name on it you would pay $100 for it. Heavy solid brass with good chrome plating, easy to drill a 5/8 hole in the sink. Fits 1/4" plastic tubing with the fitting included. Works great the handle has a short 1/4 turn so you need to get used to it. I feel like I got my moneys worth for once!

Had to tinker with a few fittings to get from the 3/8 compression outlet of the filter to the 1/4 compression fitting of the faucet but it was still an easy install. It looks great and so far works great!

Black & Decker CM5050 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker

Black & Decker CM5050 12-Cup Programmable CoffeemakerIf I could have waited for delivery, I''d have purchased this from Amazon. I don''t know a coffee drinker who will even wait for a day, much less up to two weeks for a coffee maker. That said, this would make a great gift for any occasion.

I''ve only had this coffee maker for two weeks but that''s time enough to discover quirks that might make it unappealing to others.

The coffee maker I replaced was the Mr. Coffee, IS series. It was great while it lasted, but it only lasted four years. I expect more for my money than that.

To comapare the two above mentioned models, both brew great coffee, and the B&D CM5050 brews 12 cups in ten minutes, where Mr. Coffee took twelve. That''s a plus if you don''t use the auto brew.

The B&D has a big digital clock; the Mr. Coffee had a hard-to-read analog.

B&D allows you to set your brew strength, but if you like "strong", it defaults back to "regular" at the end of the brewing cycle, so it must be reset with each new brew. Mr. Coffee saved the option; I liked that.

Mr. Coffee allowed a temperature control for the hot plate (a plus in my book), B&D doesn''t, and the coffee is scalding when you pour it. Mr. Coffee also has a special cleaning cycle, this B&D doesn''t.

The permanent coffee filter in the B&D is a great addition. I hesitated using it because of my poor experience with permanent filters. If you''ve rejected the use of these permanent filters because of a fine silt that settles in the bottom of the carafe, this permanent filter allows none of that. Use it; it will save money on paper filters.

I haven''t used the 1 4 cup brewing feature. I brew a full pot in the morning, and never drink coffee for the remainder of the day.

My main complaint with B&D is the preset warmer plate, but all other aspects are either equal or superior to the Mr. Coffee. So, it''s a matter of personal choice. I would have been happy to buy another Mr. Coffee, but I really expected a longer lifespan.

When I went "pot shoping", the B&D won because it was $10 cheaper, and I was already disappointed with the premature death of my Mr. Coffee. If this brewer dies at four years, I''ll look for a new model. So far, I''m pleased with what my money bought.

The coffee maker itself works great but the carafe is absolutely the worst I have ever had. You need to have a kitchen towel under it or you had better pour your coffee over the sink. I have resorted to using a pitcher to fill the water reservoir instead of the carafe to avoid water all over the place but what do you do once the coffee is made? Anyway--I would not recommend this coffee maker. Definitely a waste of $50.00!!!!

Totally agree with N MESSMORE... a miserable messmaker from an otherwise reputable manufacturer. And I called B&D Customer Service to be told it was my fault... I needed to pour more slowly. So I did. And still had a coffee puddle. And No, they will not send a carafe of better design either. Sorry. Don''t waste your money here.

I''ll start by saying the coffee tastes great. However, I can get great coffee from other machines. The problems start immediately. Filling the water reservoir is awkward at best and I end up dripping water on the floor, in the filter basket and onto the hot plate where the carafe sits. Then, as others have noted, pouring the coffee results in puddles on the floor. What a waste of money.

Want Black & Decker CM5050 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Discount?

Was any usability testing ever done on this product? It''s almost impossible to pour the coffee without it coming out and spilling all over the counter. The inside of the pot is designed so you can''t pour ALL of the water inside of the pot into the reservoir -the water gets caught in the inside curve of the glass. Then, trying to get the pot into a position to pour the water is really awkward. These issues far outway enjoying the coffee.

  • Part Number: WHKF-DB2.
  • NSF Certified.
  • Micron Rating: 0.5.

This is the only water filter I use. The water filter is the only one in this line that filters out lead (Pb) from the water. Given that most plumbing in this country is still from a time when lead was used as a bonding agent for pipes... Lead can be in your water supply in small amounts even if your house is brand new... why take chances... the additional cost for the extra protection is well worth it.

I suffered and struggled to make a decision on what type of "under the sink" water filtration system to buy. There are so may types, brands and configurations that I almost just stuck to bottled water. Boy am I glad I didn''t. I purchased this unit and installed it myself in about 2 hours. The taste is great, the pressure is perfect and I''m saving the environment. I have yet to replace the filters...hoping that is a cheap and easy procedure but overall I am really happy with this unit.

Definitely glad I didn''t go with a simple charcoal filter. Glad I didn''t choose a reverse Osmosis unit which everyone says depletes the minerals in your body and happy I saved the money over a professionally installed system...

Great filter... there is no question the filters themselves are great. Very happy with them. HOWEVER, they come with plastic connector adaptors that allow you to tap into your under sink cold water supply which are complete waste of time. The core adaptor is plastic and interestingly enough they provided brass/metal 3/8" adaptors. Whether you use the adaptors or not, you will FAIL to connect to your water supply unless maybe your house has really, really, really terrible water pressure. Even then, I''m not sure you are going to get this to work. It is a complete waste of time. Rather than return the filter product altogether, I ended up buying another $10 metal connector part off of a water filter supply website (couldn''t find it on Amazon). Like I said, water filter is GREAT. Just do yourself a favor and don''t even both to think you''ll be lucky and somehow get that plastic connector to work. BTW, I noticed on the other web site that I ordered the metal connector adaptor that they had the plastic adaptor that comes with this kit on there as well. There were a total of 9 reviews for the product on that site for the plastic adaptor connector and they were all "1"s out of "5." Everyone complained that the plastic connector leaked.

With increasing concerns over the chemicals, drugs, protozoans, etc. appearing in municipal drinking supplies coupled with the generally poor quality taste of our drinking water, we opted to replace our sink mounted PUR filter system with an under sink mounted unit. Having used several varieties of water purification systems in the past, we were attracted to this unit for several reasons namely, 1) It''s compact size, 2) high quality, ultra-filtration three stage purification process removing sediment, chemicals, bacteria, cysts, etc. using a final stage 0.2 micron filter (don''t believe the Amazon check-list this unit removes biologicals), 3) It was not an RO system and therefore wouldn''t require electricity, waste water, remove minerals (including floride), or produce water in limited amounts.

The Watts system satisfied all of our requirements and to date has functioned quite well. The device installed easily and we opted to connect the unit directly to the cold water source as a dedicated supply to an bar-sink faucet. Alternatively, one could purchase a specialized accessory faucet and mount it next to an existing sink, though in our experience these faucets usually broke or leaked with repeated use. The 3-stage system produces copious amounts of clean, fresh tasting water and is extremely low maintenence one has to change two filters every six months followed by the hollow, micron-filter once a year. Watts recommends filter replacement on a rountine basis rather than incorporating a flow or time sensing device into the unit (our prior systems had these though they didn''t work or broke). Replacement filters cost approximately $70/year.

Big Berkey w/ 2 White Ceramic FiltersLiving in a hurricane prone area totally supplied by public utilities means a loss of electricity and water during outages. Although stocking up on bottled water is fine for a few days, between people and pets there is an ongoing need for fresh clean water without the excessive cost. This unit is used by the Red Cross as well as many other organizations in places where contaminated water is an issue. Not only is it les expensive than bottled but water tastes great, this requires zero electricity and it''s simple to use. All stainless steel eliminates the risk of plastics while ensuring a long life. No nasty iodine tablets (especially for those with sensitiviites) and re-usable filters are easy to keep clean. Great product with long term reputation for quality.

We are full time RVr''s (live and travel in our fifth wheel trailer) and use this filter for 100% of our drinking and cooking water needs. It meets all the claims of the manufacturer and is cheap insurance against drinking "bad" water. Best of all, it takes out all the odd tastes one encounters travelling all over the country everything from sulfur (rotten eggs) to over-chlorinated water. If it''s good enough for the World Health Organization and the Red Cross it''s good enough for mer. I''d recommend it without reservation.

I bought this for emergency preparedness, with the thinking that I could put our tapwater into it and replace bottled water altogether as a bonus. After meticuluously following the instructions, our tapwater still comes out tasting odd, as though the filtration candles the water travels through are somehow changing/adding something to the water''s taste. I don''t know if this is the case, or if our tapwater, once purified, has this unusual taste, but it''s not water my family enjoys drinking, sadly. The tapwater straight from the tap does not have this strange taste. I''ve rinsed the candles repeatedly and carefully, I''ve run ten cycles of water through the unit, I simply cannot get rid of the aftertaste. Oh, well, I''d use it in an emergency.

The water from the tap in Lafayette Oregon is awful. It tastes bad and I mean BAD with a capitol B. The old Britta filter couldn''t make our water drinkable but it did make me feel better about giving it to the dogs. The Big Berkey is a true wonder. It makes our tap water taste very very good. Much better than any of the bottled waters available at the food store. It produces plenty of water in a timely manner. Within days of its arrival, I had filled 4 five gallon water containers. Now I keep 35 gallons on hand.

As soon as I can get a 300 gallon container I plan to start collecting rainwater and filtering it through the Big Berkey. It should take me a couple of weeks twice a year to produce my entire year''s worth of drinking water. I''ll have complete control over my drinking water which will cost me virtually nothing. A couple of filters every few years works out to just about free, high quality drinking water. The sense of being self sufficient and no longer relying on the state or some for profit corporation in order to drink water is most satisfying too.

This would be even more important if some event, like an earthquake for example were to disrupt the availability of water. With the BIg Berkey and storage containers, I''m in complete control of this most important daily need. As if this weren''t good enough, they have excellent customer service. They respond to any communication within a day. No matter what message I send, Dan from customer service gives me an answer within about 18 hours. These guys are great and so is their filter.

Starbrand Products Gevalia 12-Cup Coffeemaker

Starbrand Products Gevalia 12-Cup CoffeemakerI got this free from a Gevalia offer bought 2 pounds of coffee, didn''t even have to pay s/h. I liked the looks of it we got the black with stainless steel.

That said, I would never have paid any amount of money for this. The first one broke within a week. It worked for a few days. Then, the coffee came out cold. Then, it stopped working completely.

Gevalia sent a free replacement (the guy on the phone admitted, off the record, that these things break often). They didn''t need the old one back, so I opened it up to see if it could be repaired (a hobby of mine).

No surprise that ALL the parts came from Asia. I also discovered that BOTH the pump and the heating element broke, separately. So even if I fixed/replaced the pump, the coffee would still come out cold. This is quite amazing to me, since my previous coffee maker still works after nearly 20 years, and after having been dropped many times. Oddly, the wiring was sturdy & just fine (side note: a high percent of appliance problems/failures are simply frayed wires, which can be easily mended with electrical tape, even by a novice, in under 5 minutes).

The replacement unit came & works (almost 2 years old now). But I still have major problems with it:

Pros:

* Stainless/black steel looks sleek

* Digital clock

* Auto-shutoff

* Reservoir float indicator is nice

Cons:

* "Pause & pour" does NOT work well. Only works 50% of the time, again, due to bad design. The rest of the time it makes a huge mess. This was the case on both my units.

* The stainless finish gets dirty easily

* There is no backup battery, so the clock resets every time you unplug the unit.

* The pump will definitely not last long it''s overworked due to poor design/layout.

* Because it''s a top-load pump & filter, the steam comes up through the top. You cannot change the filter for 20 minutes, without risk of scalding yourself. It would be very difficult to make 2 consecutive pots of coffee (i.e., if you have guests). Plus, the excessive steam warped the cabinets above the unit.

* The worst problem the reservoir is only about 1" in diameter. It''s impossible to load it without spilling.

-> Bottom line: Looks nice, but I''ve never heard of such a difficult, problematic coffee maker. This almost seems like a practical joke by some engineers, or perhaps designed by someone who has never used a coffee maker before. Avoid this one.

This is your basic coffee maker.

Things you should know:

The "stainless" finish is actually grey paint. That''s fine; it doesn''t look bad. I would actually describe the color as "aluminum".

It uses cone filters. This is a plus, and what separates this maker from, say, a Mr. Coffee. The rest of it is basically the same thing. Ancient technology.

If you pull the carafe out while coffee''s dripping, it''ll stop -a "pause" feature. Don''t they all do that nowadays?

I never use the timer/programmability feature. As stated elsewhere, the clock has no battery, so, if you unplug it, you have to reset the time. My stove and microwave both have much bigger/brighter/better clocks, so those are my main ones. The main advantage of the electronic on/off switch is that it will switch itself off after some time, in case you forget. Not having the house burn down is always welcome.

There is a water tank float gauge on the side, so you can tell exactly what the water level is. This is nice, especially if you can reach the maker using your sink sprayer, to fill it. (I can''t, but wish I could.)

My main complaint? The carafe dribbles when pouring coffee. You have to do it slowly. It''s kind of annoying -but not enough to make me buy another one; I''m just going to wait until this one dies. (I''ve been waiting a while now. Murphy''s Law.)

A friend of mine gave me her Cuisinart grind and brew, real stainless, $200 coffee maker. It turned out to be ridiculously complicated and hard to clean and missing some basic feature this one had, so I went back to this simple Gevalia. Simple + reliable = good.

As stated elsewhere, this is the kind of machine you get when you sign up for Gevalia''s coffee club. (I didn''t do this. I think I bought it used on a leading auction website.)

Would I buy again? Probably. I''d want one that has all the same features, minimum.

Over 3 months ago in early January, 2009, I ordered a replacement carafe for the "free" coffee maker they sent me. The wrong one was sent. I called and was assured they would send me a return address label. After a month, I called again and was told the same thing. The third time I asked for a supervisor and was told it would be handled. The forth time, I threatened to put up a youtube video and promised results. This was Andy employee number 643113 on April 2. Still nothing in the mail. On April 20 I called again and was told that my credit card had been refunded, but to get the proper carafe I had to re-order and be charged. I said, "You have got to be kidding. After 3 months of hell?" I still have not heard from them, nor do I expect to. I am stuck with the wrong carafe cluttering my house. I sent this review to Gevalia and they simply repeated their new song: your account was refunded to get the correct carafe, re-order. Fat chance!

I have owned this coffee maker for about 3 years now and never had a problem with it. Some people complain of dishwasher issues, but I never had a problem. I am getting a second one for $20 from the company website with one of their specials. My roommate insists on brewing coffee at the same time as me, so we are getting a second coffee maker. As with all products, not every single one of them is going to be great. I think the bad reviews are misrepresenting the many owners of this product out there. Plus the coffee is pretty good if you get it with a special on their website.

As for features, a lot of programmable coffee makers make it too complicated to brew a pot of coffee. One button for this and another button to set a brew time and 2 buttons for hour and minute. Very simple and no need for 12 buttons on a coffee pot. Plus the pot stops brewing for a little while if you want to pour coffee before all of it is brewed. Great feature. I will admit it is sometimes difficult to pour water into the resevoir whithout spilling, but I have become an expert!

I got this coffeemaker for $14.95 from the Gevalia website with a stainless steel scoop and pound of coffee included. Not sure why anyone would pay $100+ dollars for it when they offer it on their site for next to nothing. That aside this is a great coffeemaker. It has pause and serve feature, so you don''t have to wait for it to finish brewing a full pot to pour a cup of coffee. The stainless steel look is perfect for kitchens with or without stainless appliances. All the functions work perfectly and the coffee they offer is GREAT coffee!

Moving from one area of the country to another presents a problem in getting used to the "taste" of the new water. We installed a reverse osmosis system, which requires regular replacement of the reverse osmosis membrane and filters. As the system ages, it becomes more difficult to find the correct replacement filters. We always order from this company and have had great success with their products.

Although this is the best price I could find, I still say it''s too expensive. It''s the same filter as others out there with a different end tip, yet costs almost 40 dollars more. Except for the price, it works great.

These are a very good filter and easy to clean. The water where I live is more like rust with some water added (and it is very expensive). I pre filter first with a Brita and then run that through my Berkey. I must clean my filters and inside of my tanks every single month as the ceramic filters are getting very clogged with what the Brita did not catch. My Brita filters last 3 weeks, sometimes 4 but are then full with rust and other sediments. Bleaching the insides of the tank and running the bleach water through the spigot is very important. Also clean and bleach the entire lid of your Berkey. DO NOT GET BLEACH OR USE ANY KINDS OF SOAP ON THE CERAMIC FILTERS and do not get any water near the thread mounts. Using a firm toothbrush or softened 3m scouring pad, scrub pushing away from the thread mounts and rinse well. After cleaning, do a run through and discard that water (I head for the garden with it. I never waste water). Then you''re ready to roll for another month!

Back when everyone was talking about Y2K my husband and I stocked up on some survival items. We did not have the best quality water and bought a British Berkfeld water purifer. The filters that I purchased made the quality of water better than bottled. These filters are good for 5000 gallons. I reccomend them to anyone.

8 - 12 Cup Permanent Basket Style Coffee Filter Save 89% Off

8 - 12 Cup Permanent Basket Style Coffee FilterWe''ve been using this basket everyday for several years now. Less expensive than paper filters plus I dont have to worry about running out.

Sometimes there is a bit of sludge in the bottom of the coffee pot, though...usually not a big issue since we rarely finish a full pot (just a heads up for you coffee lovers).

Cleaning is easy, and I also run it thru the vinegar wash when the coffee pot is being cleaned, as the metal can tend to get water/lime deposits like the coffee pot. [our water is very hard].

Have purchased this item two times (had to replace the size when we bought a new pot). Would purchase again.

We bought this to try to be more environment friendly, since we brew coffee several times a day, and it bothered us to see the amount of paper we wasted on the coffee machine filters. Well, it works, but the coffee doesn''t taste as rich as it does when compared to paper filters (my explanation is that the plastic one has larger holes, therefore the hot water passes quicker), and it leaves a little bit of very fine powder in the bottom of the jar.

Woodeze 5SS-CS-3W ChimneySaver Water Base Repell Save 25% Off

Woodeze 5SS-CS-3W ChimneySaver Water Base Repell - 3 gal.I was amazed at how easy it was to apply this sealer to my chimney. It took all of 30 minutes to do the two coats recommended and I only used about a half gallon. The product has a 10 year warranty which is reassuring. The only problem is that the smallest quantity I could buy was 3 gallons, so I''ll have enough to do my chimney for the next 50 years. If I live that long.

This product really works. I am a rooofing contractor and I had a leaky stone chimney. Once we apply the product, it seal the chimney from water coming in. It is a must buy, even on masonary walls. The vender mailed it fast.

Sprite Ageless Filtered Shower Handle in Chrome Save 30% Off

Sprite Ageless Filtered Shower Handle in Chrome
  • Removes chlorine, dirt, odors and more
  • Uses filter cartridge model HHC
  • One replaceable filter cartridge inside
  • Attaches to existing shower arm
  • Hose and bracket included

Easy installation and sturdy construction. The hose is longer than most which is important since I give my dog a bath in the shower! We no longer smell the chlorine, our skin is no longer dry and itchy and hair has more life. My only complaint is that the shower head is so high -a stretch to reach for someone short. However positives far outweigh the one negative so we have ordered one for the other shower.

I wish I liked this shower head more, but it''s pretty good for the price.

Pros:

-Multiple settings

-Built-in water filter

-Detachable Hose

Cons:

-It''s made out of plastic, not chrome

-The handle holder does not swivel at all--I had to purchase a separate ball joint because the water was shooting over my head

-Misting feature loses all the water heat

If I could find another detachable filtered shower head for the same price, I probably would buy it instead. This one isn''t bad, but I''m not really in love with it either.

This is my 2nd Sprite Filtered Shower Handle. Bought the first one 1.5 years ago for my master bath; product does what it''s supposed to. Water feels less harsh and odor is gone. My master has gone through 3 filters and each time the filter starts out bright gold...after six months the filter is black!

The only con I have is the lack of active spray nossels. There are several settings, 1 for outer spray then 1 for inner harder spray and final is a jet spray. I has able to finagle the selector just between the outer and middle spray which gives a nice combination of light to medium jets; I just wish this was an option. Maybe 5 selections with 2 being a combination of the three jets.

Great product for those with hard or smelly water. Oh, I''ve also noticed my skin is much softer as well as my hair is more lively.

This shower head is good. It doesn''t swivel so if you are short and your shower head mounts high, you aren''t going to be able to decrease the angle at all. No big deal, but could be better with a swivel action.

The main issue with this shower head is that it is not all chrome, the holder for the shower head is plastic. This is a terrible design for something that is in the heat of the shower on at least a daily basis and for something that is supposed to withstand the remove/replace function of a shower handle back to its home base! The plastic holster part broke in two like a wish bone. We have had to glue this thing about 6 times since we purchased it. I am planning to see if the company will replace it but who knows.

Hose is too long and not enough water pressure. I used the hose from my previous handheld shower to compensate and I deal with the lessened pressure.

HIC Porcelain Coffee Filter Cone

HIC Porcelain No. 4 Coffee Filter ConeThis is a solid piece of ceramic with good glazing. It rests securely on either a coffee mug or my old Mr. Coffee carafe.

This cone has three holes in the bottom, a feature which I have come to see doesn''t make much difference. Apparently, how fine the coffee is ground determines the flow rate more than the number of holes. Once the coffee is through the filter paper, it is going to flow at a steady rate through one hole or three.

This cone is a little heavy, but I feel that it will last a long time. The handle is nice and thick.

I bought this item after trying the more expensive Frieling/Cilo and having bad luck with two of them. (You can see my review on that item''s page.)

Using a cone of any type seems to make better coffee than the many drip machines I''ve tried over the years. You can control the temperature and flow of the water exactly the way you want.

Enjoy!

UPDATE: Have had this now over two months, using it twice every day. Love it. Good, solid, well balanced, and very handy.

I had a difficult time comparing this to the Frieling Cilio version that''s significantly more expensive. I ended up getting both, and prefer the Frieling Cilio. I''ve uploaded some product photos to help others make the comparison.

Weight and thickness: the HIC is significantly heavier and thicker than the Frieling Cilio. I like the lighter weight of the other one.

Number of drain holes: HIC has three, Frieling Cilio has one larger one. No noticeable difference in draining time.

Outer diameter of bottom rim: this is the ring that helps keeps the filter holder in place on your carafe. Frieling Cilio has a smaller diameter (2 7/16") vs. HIC (2 3/4"). My carafe opening diameter is also 2 3/4" which makes the HIC very awkward and unsteady. Your carafe needs to have a larger diameter opening than the bottom rim on the filter holder.

Small differences, but they add up. I like the Frieling Cilio much better and feel it''s worth the extra cost.

For the ultimate coffee experience, this is a must have for the home brewer. The obvious ingredients for great coffee is the coffee itself (My favorite is Starbucks Casi Cielo), quality water and this simple device. You will need to tweak the coarseness of the grinds to your own personal taste. I recommend the Capresso 560 Infinity Conical Burr Grinder, Brushed Silver Finish

Follow the steps below or this link and enjoy coffee a whole new way. Note that it takes a bit longer this way to make but definitely worth the extra effort.

The coffee geek''s guide to home brewing

-

1. Bring 20 oz good, clear water to a boil and grind 3/4 oz coffee beans to medium-fine (soft, but gritty enough to clump when pressed between fingers).

2. Pour hot water through a Melitta cone (this rids inner filter of paper taste) into your cup, then pour 10 oz of the boiling water into a measuring cup.

3. Empty the water from your cup, add the grounds to the filter, and pour several tablespoons of the measuring-cup water over the grounds to wet them.

4. After a few seconds, slowly pour the rest of the measuring-cup water over the grounds, stirring the mix while you pour.

5. When the coffee has drained from the filter, stir once and consume immediately. You''ve earned this one.lver Finish]] Follow these instructions:

This cone is very sturdily built, and the glazing does not seem to have any thin spots. Learning to brew a respectable cup of coffee took a few tries but is worth the effort (at least compared to the company coffee!). Pour in a shot of water to get most of the grounds wet and let the water go though and the grounds settle. Then slowly add the water along the sides of the cone. The idea is to keep as much of the water in contact with the grounds for as long as possible. If you add too much water, the grounds will float to the top of the water causing the rest of the water to filter through much too quickly. I like to squeeze some of the really dark coffee from the grounds after the last of the water has filtered through.

The filter has 3 fairly large holes in the bottom. I might have given it 5 stars if it only had 1 hole in the bottom so that the water filtered though more slowly on it''s own.

If you''re a bit uncomfortable with the idea of hot water being in contact with plastics (I am, not that it stops me from using my coffee maker at home though), then this is a great device to use to brew your morning cups.

Just received this item and have made a few individual cups of coffee. Love it. Water flows through at just the right rate for good coffee flavor. Tastes better than our auto drip coffee maker. Maybe it''s because I can get the water hotter boiling it in the tea kettle? Maybe the rate of water flow is better? Super-easy clean up. Lets you make a cup of coffee with only slightly more effort than making a cup of tea. Much cheaper than using a K-cup or pod coffee maker, almost as convenient, and the coffee tastes worlds better. I''d call this no. 4, a good ''medium'' size. Not a good size if you need something to carry to work; just right if it''s going to stay in the kitchen. You can use it on a mug, but will also hold enough coffee grounds to let you make a 12 cup pot. The cone shaped paper coffee filters (1, 2, 4, and 6) only vary by overall height, the slope of the sides is the same; so you can use smaller sized filters in this No. 4 sized cone if you prefer. I''ve also used this to hold a paper filter for making cold brewed coffee. I''m considering putting away the auto drip coffee maker and Keurig machine and gaining back some counter space.
