Wow, what a disappointment! The product comes fully assembled except for a small mesh bag with charcoal dust in it that needs to be insalled in the lid. Not only did I get the charcoal all over my hands but the thing keeps falling out of the lid as I run the unit! But this isn''t the worst part. Over the holidays I had a friend over that is a chemist and I was showing her the unit. To her, the odor that was coming out of the unit just wasn''t quite right. She asked if it was okay for her to take into work today and she just called to tell me that the unit was emitting 1,200 times the amount of ozone that is allowed by UL and OSHA!! I may not get the wording right here but I guess the allowable limit is around 50ppb (parts per billion) and according to her equipment this unit pumped out about 62ppm (parts per million) on a consistent basis. Do the math and that is over 1,200 times the allowable limit set by UL and OSHA!! How does a unit like this get carried by reputable retailers? According to my friend, the bag of charcoal on top is there for a reason, that is to break down any excess ozone as it escapes the lid. When you visit the company website they ask you to change this every 10 uses...at a cost of $4.95/baggie. Now there''s an extra cost I never knew about when I bought the unit! Unfortunately, this bag of charcoal doesn''t seem to be do anything...or at least not enough to get these emissions down to the right level. Mind you, once the process is done and you lift the lid, the stench of this ozone gas is so overpowering I have to always back away first...is this safe for me? What if I had children? Will it effect my pets? What really has me upset now is that I went back to the website to check out the safety procedure to follow and when you go into the MSDS section they have a lab report prepared for DEL and Air Liquide. How do these test results relate to my CuisineClean? I guess I should have looked closer before purchasing but I got mesmerized by the claims and missed some of these smaller details. Oh yeah, and one more thing, fill it with apples as per their instructions and it is unbelievable what you get out...they may be clean but they are cut and bruised all over. I can''t see how this would make them last any longer?!

I returned this product because using it scared my family and I. I started juicing 6 months ago and was concerned about the safety of the fruits and vegetables I was using. So I was excited when I saw this product. But just as another reviewer said, this product put off a horrible smell in my home which caused me grave concern. It also slashed up my fruit and vegetables if the unit was filled to the top. I had to only put stuff in half way up in the unit in order for it not to damage the fruit. I called Vesture to inquire about the smell coming from the Cuisine Clean. The only response he could give me was that he also owned a unit, it did have a strong odor coming from it, but he "liked" the smell!!! He also stated that I could continue to use it by placing it outside, which would also solve the charcoal issue because then I wouldn''t have to use the filter/charcoal. This seemed absurd to me since I live in a cold climate, plus it would be a bother to transport this thing back and forth, inside to outside. So after reading the reviews on Amazon (which I should have done BEFORE my purchase) I decided to return this product before time ran out on me. I had to pay to ship it back, plus pay a 15% restocking fee but at least I got some of my money back and I wasn''t stuck with this lemon. The seller was very gracious during the return but it was an expensive lesson to be reminded to check the reviews before I purchase anything and even more importantly, believe the reviews if there are more negative reviews than positive. The idea behind this product is a good one but they have a long way to go to convince me that it is a safe product to operate in my home. It may kill germs on fruits and vegetables but what it is spewing into your home''s air may be worse than those germs. I think I''ll wait until they perfect this type of product before I commit to purchasing anything like it again and stay with hand washing. A friend told me that I could get the same sanitizing results by washing my fruits and vegetables using the following: place them in a solution of 1/2 to 1 teaspoon bleach to 1 gallon of water for a minute, then rinse them thoroughly.

We purchased a unit a couple years ago and it just died...looks like a broken or shredded belt/pulley and the unit no longer spins. I''ve visited to Vesture site and tried to email their customer service and emails sent to 3 different addresses have bounced back so we are just tossing this junk in the trash.

I''m sure since it is outside the 1 year warranty getting a replacement unit for this obvious design flaw is not going to happen. Seems like another item that barely outlives its warranty period before dying...this is becoming the norm with many products.

We did not even get a chance to wear this unit out. While it was working it seemed to clean things without any problems but you really are "trusting" it is cleaning..how can you tell if fruit/veges are actually clean...I agree with the one reviewer...the odor released does stink and I was wondering if ozone spewing into our house air is safe even with a filter.

We''re just going back to hand washing...it served us well for years and hand washing never wears out and is cheap....;-)

A single (thoroughly miserable) bout of food poisoning that hospitalized me was enough to sell me on this product. I continue to use this it in spite of its cons, because it seems to be the only product of its type available and I have access to a well ventilated area where it can run away from my family. I''ve seen other reviews that mention damage to produce, but I haven''t experienced that. Overall, I wish that another company would manufacture a higher quality product with a better seal and better ozone deactivation.

We bought this unit because we were moving to central Africa with our 5 month old baby. The idea of bleaching food that I am feeding to my child seemed crazy. We have had the product for 5 months and have had no problems with it. I have not noticed the "overpowering" smell that others have complained about. There is a mild ozone smell, but nothing worse than after a good lightening storm. Perhaps we have a more open kitchen and the smell can dissipate more. But this product has made me feel much more secure in making homemade baby food for our little one.

I think it''s working. It seems to filter the rust and chlorine, but I don''t know. I have another filter I put in before it to filter the rust, and it''s always dark rusty looking. This filter also looks a bit rusty. I have extremely rusty water coming in from the ancient pipes under the street in front of my house. When I was shopping for my son to start preschool, I was thrilled to find these thermos bottles. He will only drink ice water, so I thought the straw design was wonderful for him. We wanted to be kind to the environment by NOT sending a plastic bottle every day. When the Thermos cups work properly, the cups do keep the ice water cold all day long, and the straw design is okay. Plus, they do give you an extra straw when you purchase it. I thought it was the perfect cup...

HOWEVER, I am so frustrated with the Thermos lid design that I could scream!!! These cups, by the cute character designs, are geared towards younger children. My son dropped this cup once, and the lid broke. When the lid breaks, the cup is no longer spill-proof, and it cannot be used in a lunch box again (water leaked everywhere). These cups are very expensive--around $15 each. I bought him one replacement cup, and he had it for about 3 weeks before he dropped that one, and the lid broke on that one also. I cannot find any place to purchase replacement lids. And I am never going to buy another one of these cups until they change the design of the lid--or make them easier for young children with small hands to carry by adding a handle or something.

If you are lucky enough to never drop this cup, then it''s great! If you ever drop it on a hard surface, then it''s terrible.

UPDATE: I did contact the THERMOS customer care line 1-800-831-9242, and I was able to order replacement lids for the thermos cups. They only cost $2 per lid and were shipped quickly with replacement straws as well. Since you can order replacement lids, I would update my review back to 3 stars.

I bought this water bottle for my daughter and she loved it. It looks nice and pretty. The insulated stainless steel does not leak any chemicals and the plastic parts are all PBA free. The only thing I don''t like is that hinge of the plastic cap is easy to be broken. Both ours and my friends'' are broken after the bottles were dropped to the ground. So we ordered the caps from Thermos customer service again. I think it cost about $3 for each cap, not too bad.

We purchased this Thermos (with the Hello Kitty design from Target) over 1½ years ago. It has held up through almost daily use. It is one of the best kids drink holders I''ve ever had. We actually have two, one blue one pink.

They each came with an extra straw set but my originals are still going strong.

I can put ice water in it in the morning and send my daughter to camp (outside, no refrigerator) and when she gets home late afternoon, there is still ice in it.

We use them for lunches, travel and daily household use.

Milk stays cold for up to 12 hours (although we don''t usually let milk stay out that long).

It has been tossed around (not dropped from any great height) and has rolled around the mini van and the only wear it shows is with the imprint on the outside.

We do not wash it in the dishwasher although I think you can and I take the straw apart each time I wash it it is a two piece part.

Since we put milk in it, I often clean the straw out with a pipe cleaner so that any residual milk is removed. I use a knife point to go around the inside of the straw connecting point because this can sometimes build up some milk stuff.

It sounds like a lot but it takes less than a minute to wash and I feel like it is clean when we are done.

It reassembles so easily. I''ve had straw cups that have to be carefully threaded and pushed. This just pops in.

A little pricey for a drinking cup but well worth every penny.

I just purchased another Funtainer (from Amazon) so that we had one at school with cold water and one at home. Coincidentally, my daughter dropped our old one at school and the top broke. It has been dropped many times in the past and it is almost two years old so I feel like it held up well. In defense of the product, she dropped it on a hard floor.

I did want to point out that the one we just received from our Amazon order did not have an extra straw set but seems to be constructed like our older one.

We have had two of this bottles for about 2 years now. Both are THERMOS brand but they are different designs. One is a Funtainer and came on its own (bought it in-store at Target), the Hello Kitty design. The lid and straw part has held up well, but the bottom part (plastic) shattered during the first week of use (what kind of kid does NOT drop things!) and has been superglued, taped etc many times.

The second one is a FooGo and came in rigid plastic wrapping, also bought at Target. This one does not have the issue of the Funtainer with the fragile bottom, but instead, the straw has been split in half for a while now. What is worse is that the straw insert is not made of 2 but 3 pieces, an absolutely bad design because you have to take all the pieces apart to wash and then put them togheter for use again, if you dont take all the pieces apart, you risk having soap in betweek the 2 big pieces or water that will never dry up because is caught in between the 2 tight surfaces.

If Thermos could only combine the 2 designs and make one with a good 2 piece-only straw and a more flexible plastic bottom then it would justify to pay $20 for a water bottle. Until then I will keep shopping for something that makes for sense and is durable as well.

On the good side, both bottle keep water very cold (I add ice in the morning before school) for several hours and we have not had any leaking issues when the lids are closed. It is easy to close the lids properly compared to other Contigo bottles (bpa free plastic) that I bought at Costco and are a leaking nightmare if not perfectly aligned and closed properly.

I purchased three Barbie Funtainer Thermos'' with straws. I saw the Thermos version on Amazon and was looking for something close. The Barbie and Hello Kitty ones were super cute so I bought one for each kid. At first I was really impressed! I put two ice cubes in and the thermos'' stayed freezing cold all day long outside of the fridge, even when I left them in a 100 degree car while we all went shopping, at the end of the day the ice was still intact. Nothing seemed to leak or sweat or anything. About a week later my youngest left hers with the lid up and it fell over on my couch. A second later there was a big pool of water on my couch! "No leak" apparently doesn''t apply when the lid is up. There is a small air hole next to the straw that caused all of that water to be able to get out. I turned the thermos over just to see how fast it would drip... don''t do that... when turned completely upside-down the water poured out of the straw like a little hose, and all over my floor. Luckily it was just water because if it had been fruit juice I would have been in trouble. The other main fault for me is an even bigger one. The taste! I hadn''t ever actually taken a drink out of these thermos''. When I did I was shocked at how bad it tasted. The rubber straw made the water taste like I was drinking out of a tire! Seriously, drinking from a garden hose has less of a rubber taste. I then unscrewed the top and took a sip from the thermos, but the straw had soaked in the water in the thermos and it all tasted like rubber. I tried the other two thermos straws as well and they all taste equally as bad. My kids don''t seem to notice, but I do wonder about safety with a thing like this. All in all I think they should remove "no spill" from the description and fix the straw. My kids have tons of other sips with straws and none of them taste like this!

The machine performs very well for removal of pet stains and picks up pet hair as well. The large resevoir allows for cleaning of a medium sized room with one filling. Alas, freshening the bathroom bowl is one of those household things I just hate. My wife has assigned the task to me and I try to keep the work to a minimum. I''m a geologist, so please pardon the following analysis. Pumice is a natural volcanic glass and, as such, has just about the same degree of hardness (resistance to scratching) as the toilet bowl porcelain. If anything, the porcelain might be slightly softer. The package says that the product is "safe." Well, pumice is not toxic in any way so by safe they probably mean that it won''t scratch porcelain. But they then warn about using the Pumie on colored bowls, where scratching would be more evident. I suspect that the rather remarkable ability of this pumice stick product to remove that ugly stain is producing minor, mostly microscopic, surface damage to the interior of the bowl each time that it is used. Whether this makes any difference is open to question. If you replace your bowl every ten or twenty years, or if you live in a rented property, then go ahead and use it with vigor. If you expect the bowl to remain like new for the life of the house, you''re probably going to start to notice the scratching and it will probably give the porcelain a dull non-glazed finish. It won''t hurt the function of the bowl in any way, I should add. So what should one do? Well, I''m going to use the Pumie sparingly in that I won''t be around long enough to view the damage and even if I am, a toilet bowl isn''t all that expensive or difficult to replace. For most people, I would suggest cleaning the bowl first with a conventional bowl cleaner (The Works is suggested) and then, if any remnants of an ugly ring persist, go to the Pumie. I think you''ll be surprised at how easy it is.

Pumice stones are excellent for removing rust stains and hard water deposits on variety of surfaces including toilets, bathtubs and sinks. They are even good to remove callouses on your feet. This product works as advertised and works very well. However you can save a lot if you buy the regular pumice stone from same company at less than half the price, and here on Amazon and Prime eligible.

This is review of "Dow Filmtec Residential RO Membranes". While it should work as described, DO NOT USE on Watts Premier WP systems (i.e. WP-4V, WP-4, WP-5). The WP systems are the one-piece manifold systems from Watts Premier.

This does not have the built-in Check Valve or Brine Seal inside the white plastic tube of the RO Membrane. Without this Check Valve or Brine Seal, water from the reservoir tank (when full) will back flow to the RO membrane and damage it, and waste water.

This back flow or reverse flow will happen when your reservoir tank gets full. So basically, you will be wasting water as the water trickle will not stop. When I tested it, water continued to trickle out of the reject water outlet tube even when my reservoir tank is full already (it should stop when reserve tank is full). The water coming out is at a much slower rate though, but still plenty enough to raise your water bill since the water trickle will continue 24 hours a day.

Jupiter Melody Alkaline Water Ionizer & Water Filter System

I had a reverse osmosis water filter for many years when I was very ill and needed to get control over what went in my body. The problem with it was that you needed to then alkalize the water and re-structure it because RO water is energetically dead and acidic. But I had bought the RO because it totally removes everything including flouride. So then I had to alkalize it, and restructure it and those were just more steps before you actually drink it.

After 5 years of that I decided to switch to Ionized water. The Kangan water filters produce great tasting water. I sampled some and fell it love with it. But Kangen is a HUGE MLM scheme and cost $4,000. That is not necessary, in my opinion. After much research and online shopping I settled on this Melody Jupiter filter and I bought it here on Amazon 1.5 years ago. The water is delicious. My friends comment on how good it tastes. It removes a significant amount of flouride but not all. What I read about this filter and other ionizers made me feel like I was getting the best I could get without being involved with Kangan. Some cheaper brand ionizers are not made as well.

PROS: Easy to install, easy to use, water tastes great, price is reasonable compared to others, removes a lot of toxins.

CONS: Requires electricity to run (you need an outlet near your sink), the processes creates waste water that will go down your drain. Filters don''t last long enough if you use a lot of water.

When I purchased this unit it was not clear to me that there is a waste water tube that runs into your sink and that 50% of the water running through the machines goes down the drain. We don''t pay for our water individually in my apartment building, but I do consider this extremely wasteful, especially if you use a lot of water and have to pay for it. The waste water is acidic so I devised a system to re-cycle it by purchasing a large square water bottle with a tap. I collect the waste water and use it for rinsing veggies and other such things. But it requires and time and effort to do this and most people would not bother.

The water filters don''t last as long as I would like. We use about 2 gallons per day. I drink 3-4 liters of water per day, plus other family members use it too. The more alkaline you like your water, the quicker your filter will run out. This is a drag in my opinion. I have not calculated the cost per gallon, but I don''t think this filter equals cheap water, but it is definitely better than purchasing bottled water, which I refuse to support unless I''m in dire circumstances.

I have used my Jupiter Melody Ionizer through the full session of one filter, and thus far I am very pleased. I tested the acid and alkaline waters with PH strips. They are both extreme on their PH scales. The alkaline water tastes amazing alone, like water straight from a pristine aquifer. I am serious here people. I have now become a water snob. Sure, it is good to add minerals to the water to get the minerals we need. And those can taste kinda funky. But not necessarily. As well, the taste of tea changes when using this water, in comparison to using Brita filtered water even. I notice an impeccable difference. My loose leaf teas now taste like a sip of heaven. Prior to buying my first Jupiter, I had been using a 4 step reverse osmosis water filter. While that makes very clean water, it also makes the water very acidic. I realized I was drinking a large amount of acid water every day, which isn''t very healthy. I chose the Jupiter Melody after comparison shopping and researching the differences in the machines. I guess it''s not surprising when you think I had been drinking acid before.

I like several things about the Jupiter Melody:

1. It gives you control over the PH of your water.

2. You can easily change the setting to alter the PH.

3. You can make acid, neutral PH or alkaline water. There are 4 levels of acid PH levels, and 4 levels of alkaline PH levels. Then you can alter the PH further by changing the flow rate of the water. You can choose the setting that feels best to you, and you can change it for different purposes. For example I turn it to the highest alkaline setting when I drink coffee in order to counteract the acidity of the coffee.

4. You can place the unit on top of your sink or under your sink. I prefer it on top because I frequently change the PH.

I also saw someone mention that the filter needs frequent replacement. I drink a LOT of water and I''ve found the filter needs changing at what I''d consider to be a reasonable rate based on over 20 years of owning water filters.

This type of filter won''t purify the water to the degree that a reverse osmosis or distillation purifier will. But I feel you''re making a trade-off, and I decided it was worth it. I believe that the ionized and alkalized water has worthwhile health benefits. If you want more purification than the Jupiter Melody gives you, you can purchase a pre-filter for it. The type you get will depend on what''s in your local water. You can find someone on the web who sells this and discuss pre-filters with them. They may be able to advise you based on where you live.

For anyone with an old Jupiter Melody, I have to say that the new one is MUCH better. It functions more efficiently in many ways, and I don''t seem to need the pre-filter I needed with my old one.

The music the machine makes can be turned off, and I keep it off. I don''t see the point and it''s a bit annoying.

COMPARING TO THE KANGEN: I did compare this to the Kangen multi-level marketing brand. I had to really work my way through levels of people at Kangen to find out what kind of filtering system they had, in addition to the ionization process. I believe it was plain carbon according to the person I finally spoke with. There was just no information published on what''s inside. I didn''t like that.

I bought this supposedly at a deep discounted "wholesale price" from a friend -trusted him on this.

I like the machine very much -found the price on Amazon was the same as I paid, thinking I was getting the big discount. It works very well. Was easy to install and very easy to operate. It talks to you and turns at the same setting as you last used -easy to change to acid or alkaline water. I had purchased one, much more expensive, years ago, but they seem to be much improved from them. I hate MLM and suspect that this model is sold that way, but also with enough "dealers" buying at some MLM level and then simply selling them at some approximation of "cost." Dr. Yound sells them, about the same price. I like his data about alkaline water and think this is the best machine unless you spend much more -I was willing to spend some more, but was happy with this price and the machine. I would buy from Amazon if I hadn''t thought I was getting such a deep discount and hadn''t looked here first -but I wanted to help the friend anyway.

It is still a mystery as to where it is made -I presume Korea, but there are dozens of Google search finds on various parts of the name -all different types of people apparently selling the same item. Buy from someone you know and trust -I trust Amazon for such things.

Yes, a great machine. I drink ONLY alkaline water. The highest pH setting water tastes very different, the first setting of Alkaline is only slighly different tasting than normal water.

Whether it improves my health? I don''t know, but it is worth getting just in case it is also helpful -the theories behind it are convincing to me.

A friend of mine got a baby Cavalier King Charles last year, and though it''s a sweet dog, it''s peed/pooped on her carpet countless times. Walking into her apartment, you''re immediately assaulted with the strong smell of old puppy pee -which is pretty nasty.

Aside from the odor and carpet stains, her puppy had also pretty much ruined a microfiber sofa and chair in the living room (she hasn''t yet learned that wise pet owners are better off with leather upholstery and hardwood/tile floors).

When I got this pet vac, I knew immediately where to try it out -we set it up at her apartment and let it rip. First we pre-treated some areas (using the pre-treat product included in the package), then we steam cleaned all the carpet. This machine is AMAZING. The amount of steam and circulation that happens is incredible. The carpet was steaming hot to the touch after the cleaner passed over it. On some tougher spots (like a plant which had a pretty serious pee ring all around it), we did a couple passes. Bottom line, the carpets were cleaned, the apartment smelled better. Amazing!

Next we did the upholstery. Getting the spot cleaner hose to work was a little tricky, so I suggest you read the instructions first, because we definitely should have. However, we were also able to seriously reduce the pee smell on the microfiber upholstery, and also remove the stains. Unfortunately, since pee stains on cushions go way deeper than the surface upholstery, the smell came back (a little bit) over the next couple days, but it''s very slight and we may try to re-clean and see if that makes it even better.

I guess the one ''con'' to this unit is tied to a pro -the one about how much steam it puts out. While it feels POWERFUL and leaves carpets steaming hot and smelling/looking super fresh, it also goes through the water reservoir pretty quickly. For her small 2-bedroom apartment (and we only did one of the bedrooms), we had to refill several times. I think this is a minor annoyance, though, given the fact that this machine will save your carpet and upholstery from even stubborn, ingrained pet stains (and other stains as well).

Those of you with a single stain, or with a very limited amount of carpeting, might be better off just renting a cleaner or hiring someone... but those of you with lots of carpet and young pets will probably benefit from this unit. It''s good to use even if you don''t have pet stains, but if you DO have them -I''ve never seen another retail unit perform like this. It blows the rental ones from home improvement stores out of the water. A worthy investment if you anticipate putting much time into maintaining the cleanliness of your carpets and cloth upholstery in the years to come.

(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM) First, a small rant: I am always stunned when high-end products make it to sale with basic design flaws. When you take this "Bissell Lift-Off Deluxe Pet Upright Deep Cleaner" out of the box, it comes in two parts; the lower functioning unit and the upper handle. You have to screw on the handle, but for reasons I can''t understand Bissell thought it was a good idea to have the screws mount in behind the support handle. They forget the fundamental mechanics of a screwdriver--they don''t work so well around corners.

In order to assemble, you need to get down under the support handle and angle up your screwdriver from the bottom. And because the screw wells are so deep, you need a Phillips screwdriver with at least a six-inch shaft that is thin enough to fit under the support handle and into the deep wells.

All of my screwdrivers were either too thick or too short, so I ended up having to buy a special screwdriver just to put this together. Not a big deal if you already own one, but I am still astounded that Bissell thought that behind the support handle was a logical place to put screw mounts. Apparently, this is pretty standard with Bissell deep cleaners, but you have to wonder why.

So! Rant aside, once it is all together, what do you have? Something pretty darn nice.

This is the first carpet cleaner I have ever owned. In the past, I have always rented the clumsy Rug Doctor from the local grocery store, and then only when I was moving apartments so I could get my deposit back. But I am older now and have allergy issues, and so I am happy to make carpet cleaning more of a regular activity.

The Bissell is smaller and more compact than the rentals. It is more like a bulked-up vacuum cleaner, allowing for easy storage and maneuverability. When you are an apartment dweller like myself, that storage part is a necessity. This deep cleaner fits in our hall closet without too much difficulty. Bonus points right there. But "smaller and more compact" also means less water capacity, obviously. The tank doesn''t hold nearly the same amount of water as the rental cleaners. I live in a fairly large three-bedroom apartment (actually the bottom-half of a 100-year old house) and I could generally get half of one room out of the tank before I needed a refill. This wasn''t too much of a problem, but I could see it getting annoying if you have a large house.

The suction power and cleaning was fantastic. Even though I didn''t think my carpets were that dirty, one look at the tanks showed I was wrong. Cat and dog hair, dirt and grime, it all got washed out and sucked up into the Bissell. Its kind if disgusting to think we were living with all that dirt for as long as we did. The cleaner is self-heating, and we used the solution that came with the deep cleaner which worked fine. We had a few (more than a few) stains in the carpet that came right out, and I was most impressed with the entryway. We live in Seattle, and several years of wet and muddy boots have permanently changed the carpet color there. Now it is back and matches the rest of the house! Just like the Rug Doctor, it took a few passes to get everything perfectly clean, and then it took awhile to dry out the carpet completely, but all in all the Bissell did a great job.

And aside from the looking better, the carpets and the whole house smell better. This is the "Pet" version of the cleaner, which means it comes with a "Pet Stain Eraser Tool" and the 8 oz. Pet 2X chemical and the Pet Stain & Odor 22 oz. I saw some longtime pet stains and smells disappear, which I am very pleased about.

This Lift-Off attachment was surprisingly easy to use. You just push a button to disconnect the hand-held unit, and you are off cleaning sofas, chairs, and anything else that needs a deep cleaning. This part is surprisingly handy, including for heading outside of the house. We cleaned the carpets and mats in our car, which worked great and is the cleanest they have been for years.

So the verdict for this is; aside from the birthing pains of putting it together, this is a great machine. It does everything it promises, and I am amazed at how beautiful our old apartment looks and smells.

When this machine works, it does a fantastic job of general cleaning as well as spot removal. The spinning brushes really get deep into the carpet and take out a lot of old stains. Unlike other reviewers, I find that the size is quite adequate. Since I move slowly over the carpet to disburse a lot of solution, my 16 x 16 living room might take 3 tanks to complete, but it''s a simple process.

I typically use the machine once every 3 months or so. After about a year, it completely stopped releasing solution into the carpet and the spinner nozzle that is supposed to indicate an empty tank stopped spinning even on a full tank. I took it to a repair shop and had the belts replaced for about $30, and it worked again for a couple of uses, but the problem eventually happened again. When I searched for tips online, I found out that this is a common problem with these machines. The suction still works well and the spinning brushes are very effective, so I resorted to buying a cheap machine to distribute the solution and then switch to this one for the suction.

I regret having to leave a negative review because when it works, it really does a great job. However, I can''t see spending $200 every 1-2 years to replace a unit that fizzles after about 4 uses.

We had 3 different faucet mount water filters. The Pur and Dupont were poor for different and various reasons. Ultimately, I found the faucet mount Crystal Quest model which was much more economical and worked better as well. The problem with faucet mount filters is that they are bulky and in the way. Since we liked the Crystal Quest model, we ordered their under counter model (W12) that has a water dispenser using the water sprayer (useless) sink hole. I did have it installed by a plumber when we had some other work done. That was about 2 months ago. It has been trouble free. The water tastes better. The unit seems to be made of high quality materials. The sink mounted dispenser is great. We like this filter a lot.

Before I ordered this product,I got as much advice from crystal Quest distribitor about the hook up.I told them what I had as far as existing plumbing under the sink,and they told me to use the T valve hook up.

When I went to hook up,I realized,the T valve would only supply water to the filter,but

not to the main faucet.I called back,and the first person didn''t understand quite what my problem was.The second person,after talking and explaining to him my problem said; yes,You''ll need additional fittings to make it work,as the manufacturer sends general fittings that work with some common,but not all hook ups.

I went to the hardware store,armed with a picture of my hook up,and what was in the kit.It cost me a little extra,but they gave me what I needed.The connections in the kit were not quality as far as the threading goes,and had to use extra plumbers tape to stop the leaking.I finally got everything in good shape,and if the filter does it''s job,it should be a convenient system

I purchased this because we badly needed a handheld shower to bathe our infant. HAAN SI-60 Select Multi-Level Steamer Save 32% Off

This is one great steam mop. Read all the reviews for the SI-35 model and was all set to buy it but was wondering why there wasn''t a model that solved the swivel and cord length problem. Went onto the haan website and noticed this SI-60 model addressed these problems, plus it had a two stage steam output, I new this was the one for me. Was all set to buy it here but went to walmart web site to see what they offered and noticed it was cheaper there(even with sales tax included. Got the unit from wally world(walmart) and couldn''t be happier with it. Now for you folks out there that think this unit will pick up the ground in dirt (especially tile and stone)your mistaken. I think your expecting too much from it. But it certainly will keep your floors clean from then on. Don''t have much use for the carpet attachment since I have a very good Hoover carpet cleaner. You can''t go wrong with this SI-60 unit. BTW if your going to order xtra pads be very careful. Amazon lists the MF-2 or 4 pads as the ones that work with the SI-60 or any SI model. That''s WRONG. The correct ones are the RMF-2 or 4 pads. Somebody posted that the Velcro lines up differently and may block the steam vents. Enjoy!

It works great. HAAN made improvements on the SI-20 model. That model had a shorter cord and did not have a swivel head, this one does. It is important to note that of the steamers on the market, the HAAN series are among the few whose steam is actually 212 F at the exit point (mop head). This allows the HAAN to sterilize, not just break up stains and clean up messes on the floor. The carpet tool also works well; carpets appear revitalized and the little bugs (mites) that live in them get eradicated by the heat/steam. I highly recomend this item to others considering a steamer purchase, and those considering the SI-20, it''s a no brainer, get the 60.

After reading a ton of reviews of all types of steam mops, I finally decided on the Haan brand. This new model, the S-60 seemed to address the issues from previous models like no swivel head and too short of a cord.

The product arrived extremely fast and was ready to go except for one large screw that attached the handle. The mop is very lightweight and attractive (not like that really matters, though!). I was leary of the small water tank at first, but found that it held more than enough water to do all my floors but I have only a 1000 squre foot house. The water heated within 20 seconds and has a slight ticking noise when it heats, but that seems to go away once it gets going. The mop produced a significant amount of steam and did a good job cleaning my tile and my wood floors. There are 2 separate settings for mild steaming and full steaming so you can adjust for wood floors, which I like. The head swivels easily, which made it very easy for me to get beside the toilet. There was slight wetness once the pad started to get wet, but it dried very quickly. The only negative I would mention was the fact that the mop didn''t really do anything to a spot of dried on tomato sauce on my floor, it softened it up, but the pad didn''t have enough scrub power to get it off. I really didn''t expect it to, as it was a thick sauce! Overall on my hard surface floors, I found them to be squeeky clean and they didn''t feel filmy as they had in the past with cleaning products.

As for the carpet steamer, it doesn''t really help bring up stains, but I didn''t expect it to as it doesn''t have water and suction like the commercial ones you can rent at the store. It did freshen my rugs nicely and I felt satisfied with that.

Overall, while I think this unit is a little pricey, I believe that compared to other units I researched, the Haan reviews have been consistantly positive and the price is not that much more than brands with lackluster reviews. I would recommend this product.

I did a LOT of research & comparison before purchasing this SI-60 steam mop since I was disappointed with the Shark Pocket Steam Mop I had been using. I can honestly tell you after using it for over a month now that I am happy with this steam mop. I like the fact that it has an on/off button & 3 choices of steam that are continuous so no more pumping the handle every other time like I had to do to get the steam to pump out with the Shark pocket steamer. The mop pads are put on with velcro strips so it is easy to install & can be replaced in seconds with a new pad. You simply put the pad down with velcro strips facing up put the steam mop down on the pad & you are ready to go. I urge you to READ all the instructions PRIOR to using the mop so that you understand how this mop is suppose to work. I read a review where someone indicated that it left the floor dirty. It clearly states that you MUST vacuum your floor prior to using this to pick up the lint etc... This mop is designs to sanitize your floor and remove spills and spots not to pick up debris such as crumbs, dust etc... If I find a stubborn stain or spill I just go over the spot a couple of times & it comes off. I use only distilled or filtered water with the machine and 2 cap fulls of white vinegar. When you first turn the mop on it will make some noises which is normal as it heats up and begins to produce steam but then it is very quiet and glides across the floor. Since the steam will eventually saturate the mop pad I changed mine after about 15 minutes with another one. You can tell when the mop head becomes too wet because the mop doesn''t glide across the floor as easily & you start to see streaks. I purchased additional mop pads so it would be easy for me to change out. I love the ease of using this steam mop because it''s light weight and very quiet while doing a great job of steaming the floors. I''ve noticed that my floors have a nice shine to them and don''t leave the streaks I experienced with the Shark pocket steamer. Another great feature is that the pads can be washed and reused which means less waste for the landfill. I throw the pads in the washer but put them on the rack in the dryer to help maintain their shape. I gave the steam mop 4 stars because I wish I it would produce more visible steam coming out even when it''s on the highest steam level. I have five cats & feel it is important to keep my floors smelling and looking great & this mop definitely provides that results. So for me the pro''s of the Haan SI-60 Steam mop are: It''s light weight, easy to replace mop pads, quiet, continuous steam with 3 levels to choose from, & produces clean floors. The Con: Could produce more visible steam.

Big Berkey Water Filter System With 2 9" Ceramic Filters & 2 PF-4 Fluoride Filters

This is the fifth Big Berkey unit that I have purchased over the past ten years. I keep one at home and at work and they are in constant use in both locations. The others have been given to our kids and family around the country.

They have all been very well made, bullet-proof, and deliver clean good-tasting water. All have been fitted with the second set of membrane filters in the lower chamber to remove fluoride and heavy metals, too. Though these filters can be easily moved about within a home or office, they are large and need a dedicated area for their location.

Highly recommended!

The product that was recieved was very basic. Made up of a metal framework and rubber washers and stoppers, it was a portable design. However there seems to be a lot of leaks with this design since even though i loosen it and tighten it back up, some water still seeps through the cracks. My main pet peeve is that the place where i pour water is leaking and i have to have my pet''s bowl of water and a towel underneath. Other than the leaking which doesn''t bother me THAT much, the water is fantastic. The 4 filters i have set up with this system makes my water taste so refreshing that i can drink cup after cup and never get that "This isn''t water" feeling. If you drink regular tap water you know what i''m talking about; you drink a little bit of it and stop because of either the taste or how it makes you feel. With this water, you won''t notice that and you''ll continue drinking it. My family replaced tap water with juices, and bottled water from all sorts of brands(Smart water being one of our favorites) and this water will save you hundreds and will pay for itself within a few months. Maybe your system will work better than mine without the leaks, but the water it produces is well worth the puddles.

I have had my portable "Go" Berkey for several months now and take it with me everywhere I travel. Hotels in the US, friends houses, foreign destinations everywhere! In fact, I like it so much, that I then purchased the "Big Berkey" that holds 2.25 gallons. I was so impressed with this, that I then purchased the Colossal "Crown" Berkey that holds 6.5 gallons! My 6 member family is happy with all three and they are an indispensable part of our lives. We emphasize copious water consumption and these the most logical, efficient and cost effective means of accomplishing this.

We have missionary friends in primitive areas of India and Africa who have also found the Berkey system to play a critical role in their lives. Everyone is happy with its performance.

Regarding those who say it "leaks", I can authoritatively say that the spigot only leaks for those who don''t know how to "screw a lid on tight" or don''t know how to properly connect a hose onto a faucet. The only "leak" issue that potential purchasers will need to be prepared for, is that it can be overfilled, causing the water to leak out between the upper and lower chambers.

Obviously, if the upper chamber is overfilled, it will cause the lower chamber to overfill, resulting in a overflow between the two. This is only a problem for those who are unprepared.

Screw on the spigot well and don''t overfill, and you won''t have any problems.

This is truly a professional product, that is NOT just a water filter it is a very sophisticated water purifier. It does what it is supposed to do and does it very, very well. It is exceptionally well built and performs flawlessly.

Don''t be misled by those who are misinformed and don''t know the basic fundamentals of how to screw on a faucet. I now own three of them and have no regrets.

My wife and daughter were very skeptical about using a filter for our tap water as opposed to drinking bottled water. I purchased my Sonaki Vitamin C Crystal Showerhead three years ago because the water in my town is treated with chloramines and Vitamin C is one of the few ways to address that problem. We have a small ridge of buildup in our toilet bowl. It is difficult to remove and we have tried most every type of chemistry/solvent out there. This does the best job with our toilet bowl ring out of everything we''ve tried (from home remedies to high grade professional solvents). We do have to let it sit quite a while, but it does work where the others do not. The stains the negative reviews talk about might not be cleaned as the mineral content of the stain will not be removed by this particular mix. For us, our toilet bowl ring only responds to this treatment.

Our teenage son worked in a cafe'' for the summer running a major multi-thousand dollar machine, and became a self-styled expert. This machine is as much as we were willing to spring for as a gift, and it''s been non-stop espresso, latte & whatever for 48 hours. He''s extremely pleased, which says something to us about the machine. He''s found no fault with it after testing all the features...

I''d have to agree with the reviewer who thought this was a terrific machine but seems to be built to spill. We have resorted to keeping a towel near the coffee maker because it is almost impossible NOT to spill while pouring hot coffee from the large glass carafe. BTW the carafe is now chipped and I am having a bear of a time finding a replacement carafe. we also bought a gold mesh filter which works great in this machine-IF it is bone dry before each use. If it''s damp or if we forget to hand dry the coffee filter area, we end up with an overflow of hot water and coffee grounds on the counter.

Dear DeLonghi, please rethink the carafe pour spout and NEVER sell a product with removable parts that can not be easily replaced. The coffee is delicious, the machine looks very cool...just make it work better.

I bought mine on impulse at my local warehouse club without having read the Amazon reviews, and now I''m kind of glad. I find it much better-designed and easier to use than earlier reviewers, so much so that I think maybe some of the issues have been addressed.

There''s no arguing with previous complaints about the instructions; they''re just crummy. They''re printed in four languages, and they''re equally useless in all four. The cappuccino explanation is just plain wrong. The company has now added a little slip in the package that re-explains the cappuccino function, which helps a little. However, the fact is that the markings on the machine and caraffes are pretty intuitive. If you''ve ever used an espresso maker before, or paid close attention when someone else used one, just look at the machine, think for a minute, and you''ll figure it out.

I also agree with those who mentioned the flimsy construction of the machine-but remember that you get what you pay for. This machine costs about the same as a cheap espresso machine plus a moderately-priced drip coffee maker, and that''s the level of quality you get.

I''m mystified, though, by the people who had spillage issues. I am the queen of spillage; they haven''t invented the "spill-proof" cup that I can''t get to spew coffee all over a 50-foot radius. Yet even I haven''t managed to spill with this machine yet. It has a lift-out water container for the drip maker that I find very easy to remove and replace. I was concerned that it might take some work to get it properly seated, but it settles right in. The espresso maker has a cut-out near the opening that lets you get the lip of the caraffe right up against the place you need to pour. What really makes me think that DeLonghi might have done some redesign is that the caraffes don''t drip at all. If anybody could make them drip, i could, but I haven''t dribbled yet. (As for the cost of the replacement caraffe, other brands fit. The espresso filter and caraffe from my old Magic Chef work perfectly fine. Get a replacement from the Goodwill store; it won''t be as pretty as the original but it''ll do the job.)

I''m particularly pleased with the milk steamer. It makes LOTS of steam, and the frothing bit is designed so that it''s easy to control the amount of froth. You can steam the milk with almost no froth, or you can turn 1/2 cup of milk into 1 1/2 cups of froth. I use skim milk, which is notorious for not frothing, and I get more than enough foam for a great cappuccino. And it''s incredibly easy to clean the steamer, much more so than other cheap-to-moderate machines that I''ve seen.

It''s not a full-featured machine, but it''s not priced like one, either. It does what it says it''ll do, and if you normally buy a couple of Starbucks'' a week, it won''t take long for this thing to pay for itself.

This machine works wonderfully...but don''t break either carafe!! I had to special order the carafe from Italy and it cost nearly as much as the whole machine. For whatever reason they are nearly impossible to find in America.

I''ve enjoyed my Braun coffee maker, and this filter is one of the reasons. I have well water that already tastes great, but some grit gets into the tap water, and this filter takes care of that. People often say what I great cup of coffee I make, but I use perfectly ordinary coffee, just with really great water.

However... these filters are expensive and virtually impossible to find. I received this water filter two days after I placed the order. I''m happy with the fast service. As for the water filter, you might want to consider rinsing it after taking it out from the package before inserting it into the coffee maker. Also, I ran water through the coffee maker twice before making the first pot of coffee for the peace of mind. If you have paper filter placed before running the water, you will be able to see little green particals in it at the end of the process.
