Old Friend Women''s Ladies Step-In

Womens Step-in SlipperMy mother wouldn''t part with her Old Friend slippers even though it was time, so I finally told her we could get free shipping if we both ordered a pair and she went for that! She feels great in her new pair and I love mine even more than I expected. They are warm, cozy, easy to slip in and out of and the velcro strap is wonderful for adjusting the fit. I wear them around the house all the time. And we received our order in 2 days! Win! Win!

I purchased this shoe for my MIL who is a diabetic and suffers from neuropthy in her lower extremities. These slippers help to keep her feet warm and dry. she likes the fact that the flaps can be adjusted to fit across the top of her foot and that her toes are not bunched up inside the shoe. She wears them with compression socks to help with the circulation.

I will no longer have to buy her the "cheap" slippers at the big box store as these should last forever.

We bought these slippers as a gift for Mom in the nursing home. They are easy to get on and off, and are great quality. The fleece lining is wonderfully soft. Great product!

Had to return these. Due to this slipper (when tightened with the toe flap) allowing for my foot to want to slide out the toe area, they were not comfortable.

I purchased these slippers for myself. I call them the ugly slippers, but they are wonderful, comfortable, warm, and just what I needed.

DeLonghi ESAM5500M Perfecta Digital Super-Automatic Espresso Machine

DeLonghi ESAM5500M Perfecta Digital Super-Automatic Espresso Machine, Metallic BlueI am surprised that I am the first reviewer of this great machine. I just received mine yesterday. I bought it from another vender, but since I typically do most of my shopping via Amazon I thought I would share my experience thus far. Overall, this Super-Automatic is simple to use and makes great coffee, lattes, and cappuccino''s. My advice though....WATCH THE DVD BEFORE USING!!! I thought I had this thing in the bag.. how difficult could it be to use??....Well it isn''t difficult to use, but there are a few things I did that had I watched the video all the way through I would not have done. For example, when setting how fine or coarse you want the beans you have to adjust the dial one notch at a time while the grinder is running (still doesn''t make sense to me). I paused the video before waiting for the lady to finish talking on the topic and just moved it a few notches towards fine...oops! Oh well, doesn''t seem to have adversely effected anything, but now I know. Contrary to reviews I have read of super-auto''s, the burr grinder on this one is quiet when running. On a scale of 1-10 where 10 is extremely loud and 1 is basically silent I would rate this machine a 5 and my Cuisinart Grind and brew (the one that hold like a pound of beans) an 8. I was actually expecting something much louder.

Build Quality I would have to say I am impressed with the looks of this machine and its fit and finish. I am sure some people will complain of the amount of plastic, but seeing how this thing already weighs over 20lbs. why add more weight. I thought about the Gran Dama, but honestly this machine is better.

CoffeeI was also considering the Jura Z5 because I read good things, but the price was a stretch. Granted, this machine isn''t cheap either. I believe that I made the right choice. The espresso is great. I do wonder though what it tasted like from the factory, but since I changed the settings prematurely I will never know...ha! The Milk pitcher is ingenious...BRAVO! Latte''s and Cappuccino''s are a breeze and let me tell you this machine makes both very well. Sure a semi-auto can do better, but really I do not want to do the extra steps. As it is, Starbucks does not compare. I have read reviews that state the Gran Dama latte''s can be cold. I have to admit, the first one I made was, but after I made a couple and utilized the cup warmer they were perfect. I bought the Cinnamon Dolce syrup from Starbucks and I downed to many lattes....probably explains why at 0209 EST I am still up and writing this review.

My Opinion If you are in the market for a super-automatic I would say give this one a consideration. I bought this machine from a place that has probably the best return policy of all retailers, so if something does go wrong I will take it right back for another. Regardless, the people at Delonghi are great and I was amazed that as soon as I pushed (1) I was talking to a person almost immediately. I will probably just purchase the extended warranty from the manufacturer and extend the 2 years to 4...Extra $150. That is all for now. Look for an update in a couple months.

**UPDATE** 3/24/10

Well I overworked the first one, but the place I bought it from gladly took it back and ordered me another one. I made nearly 2,000 cups of coffee in 4 months with the first one. I have made nearly 1000 with the one I have now, but it seems to be holding up fine. As far as recommending it I still would. I love this machine. It is so nice that I can make everything Starbucks does without having to pay them $4 for every cup. I have basically every syrup they have and all my guests rave about the Delonghi. It is a lot of money to spend on a coffee maker, but I would do it again.

**UPDATE** 8/14/12

Well my Perfecta has been perfecta to date. No real issues to report yet.

The Good This espresso machine is very easy to use but can be intimidating at first. My husband and I use it several times a day and we have had no problems with it since we bought it at least 6 months ago.

The Bad It doesn''t make a hot cup of coffee. It makes a warm cup of coffee. I take coffee with me to work every day in a travel cup and by the time I get to work (15 minutes) I have to heat it in the microwave because it is cold. My last cheap espresso maker would make a cup of coffee so hot that I could savor it for an hour. Very frustrating to me.

My wife and I have been making 6-8 cups a day for 6 months. We only ever make cappuccino and the ''fire and forget'' button is priceless. The froth is good albeit with slightly larger bubbles than from conventional froth. We always place the milk container in the fridge and so far we have had no problems with the seal. And, the milk container can be purchased separately at a reasonable price (so my wife says).

One slight niggle we have had lately is that sometimes the door opens during the coffee making process. I have cleaned several times but to no avail. And it is difficult to find out what is pushing on the door from the inside (it is closed :-). But I guess we eventually will figure it out.

Some reviewers have complained about the coffee being too cold. I currently live in Australia and previously lived 6 years in Italy where they serve the genuine cappuccino. Outside Italy I have often had the opposite problem, where inexperienced barista''s make the coffee far too hot. It is not supposed to be that hot. In Italy the barista will generally attempt to remove your coffee cup almost immediately as the coffee is supposed to be consumed right away. A cappuccino can last a bit longer but is also consumed in short order. Some coffee gourmet sites list the optimal coffee temperature and too high a temperature ruins the coffee. So I am quite happy with the temperature of the Delonghi.

Have had this machine for 15 months and 1534 shots of espresso and it still works great like the day I bought it. I only use distilled water and descale when it tells me to(shows up on digital read out). No problems ever and even though it''s expensive it has saved me $6 a day from star bucks (quad grande mocha $5 +$1 tip)

I purchased this baby about six months ago and have already brewed 2,000 cups of cappuccino. I have settled on Illy beans and it is a real luxury to wake up, press one button, and have such a tasty treat. It does not create true coffee-house foam but it is close enough. Indeed, I am now accustomed to the slightly larger bubbles and find real cappuccino a bit too creamy. In any case, the beast has worked like a charm so far. It is expensive but life is short and little luxuries like this make it so much more enjoyable. I also bought an aerolatte electric milk frother, which makes much thicker and more authentic foam for when I really want creamy foam. But it is so easy to just pull the little milk frother that comes with this machine out of the fridge and press the button that I rarely use the aerolatte device, which is a shame because it was 90 bucks itself. But as I said, life is short and little luxuries make it sweeter. One issue is that it can be fussy to mate the milk jug with the machine: you gotta pull it off and push it back in sometimes to get the thing mated. The nice thing about a true super automatic device such as the perfecta is that you are not tied to coffee pods: it grinds whatever beans you give it. All in all, I am glad I bought it and paid off the credit card bill accordingly.

MultiPure MP750SC NEWEST MODEL Countertop Water Filter Save 4% Off

MultiPure MP750SC NEWEST MODEL Countertop Water FilterWe''ve had our filter for 3 years now. The water tastes so clean. This model was great for us as I wanted a filter, but didn''t think I had a place to mount the filter under the sink. We lived with it on the countertop for a year until we decided we loved having it, but were really tired of having it out in the open. Turns out drilling a hole to add multi-pure''s filter faucet was not a big deal at all. A contractor drilled a hole in our marble, no problem, and move the unit under the sink.

This is an absolutely excellent water filter.

First, the model I own is basically identical to the one pictured, except for it''s output fitting, which on mine cannot be converted to under sink use. Also I did not buy it through amazon. I actually bought it before there even was an Amazon.com. I purchased it through Multi-pure''s reseller program in 1996. Yes, that is right, I have owned my 750 for 16 years! Today It looks just as it looked when I purchased it, and most importantly, it''s output is still excellent, which is the main point. Another poster complained that it doesn''t look like the image, and my thoughts are that they got the wrong filter as the MP 750 line is flat bottomed and sits directly on the counter, or this one, which can be converted to be installed under the counter. (my mom has had this exact model for about 8 years) I have always had mine on the counter. The company recommends to replace the filter when the flow slows, or at least once a year. I have actually gone up to two years between replacement filters and have not noticed any issues whatsoever. The thing is is that the filter cartridges are not cheap, currently around $60 a pop. But for 2 years of excellent tasting water for drinking and cooking and giving water to my dog, it feels like a bargain. Also if you are a coffee aficionado, this water is really really good. No bad tastes imparted to your brew.

I realize I am being over the top here, but in this day and age to have one product that I use every single day for 16 years feels like a complete anomaly and I can''t help raving about it. No, I do not sell them, but I probably should as my mom has bought one as well as several friends over the years.

Finally, there is zero comparison to the crap plastic ones that attach directly to your faucet, or the brita jugs. The output volume is much higher and the water tastes far better and you can expect to keep this one for a very long time, thereby reducing its cost significantly when spread out over time.

Highly recommended.

Buy MultiPure MP750SC NEWEST MODEL Countertop Water Filter Now

First off the picture you see here is NOT what you will be getting. They seemed to have decided not to update the photo to what their newer model looks like and they''ve done that for a reason. There is no way anyone would by this based on it''s looks. The bottom of the filter is not flat like in the pictureIt''s round so that it absolutely cannot stand on its own. If you try it will roll off the counter. To fix this the company sends you a plastic base that you''re supposed to put this filter on so that it doesn''t roll over. This plastic casing is black and ugly and as if that wasn''t enough it actually adds a whole 3 inches of height to the filter. The result is that this filter is now extra huge and literally only 3.5 inches away from hitting the bottom of my upper cabinets. When people come over and come into the kitchen they always ask what the huge monstrosity is beside my sink that towers over the toaster oven I have near by. Having said that It does filter water well. the flow rate is fantastic! The water tastes greata little harder than with my last water filter, but I know that when many minerals get taken out of water it can often taste a bit harder.

Jura Impressa XS90 One Touch Automatic Coffee CenterThis machine is a hit with everybody. The coffee is always perfectly fresh and it is relatively easy to use. Cleaning it is easier than a coffee pot! Be careful with how many people it is meant to serve... it is a teesy bit slow and loud. Another thing to realize is that the height is about 5 inches taller with the fresh bean holder installed at the topmaking it a stand-alone piece in your office (rather than a countertop piece).

Great coffee from this machine. Handles capacity of our office staff well

We have 2 machines 1 for each kitchen. 100+ employees

Problem is machine wa not packed well and it was broken upon arrival. Replaced very time but hard to return

2nd a piece of plastic is missing from aux bean bin & distributor will not supply. They want $113 for a stamped flat piece of plastic that is missing?. Come on now this is a $2,500+coffee machine, we have 2. Is their name and future business from us worth their reputation. Want KX Matrikx VOC, 10" Standard Block Carbon Filter Discount?

These are great filters for on-counter and under-counter 10" fitlering systems. The kx matrikx 02-250-125-975 is a NSF certified filter. It reduces the TDS in my tap water, from 65ppm to 14ppm.

I had to buy a new American Plumber cap-sump and used this filter for the first time with an all-new housing but the same model and type of housing I''d been using for 15 years. I previously bought inexpensive generic carbon filters. There is definitely a difference with the KX Matrikx. Water tastes better, also has a lighter, cleaner smell when you run cold water for a while in the sink. Here in Huntington, WV, we have VERY hard water, and unfiltered it sometimes tastes and smells a little strange; this is okay for laundry and bathing, but I''ve been looking for an inexpensive way to optimize my drinking water. I''m trying the KX Matrikx .5 micron filter next, to see if it is even better. Price is a big consideration, but amazon prices for these filters are competitive.

Hoover TwinTank Disinfecting Handheld Steam Cleaner Save 25% Off

Hoover TwinTank Disinfecting Handheld Steam Cleaner - WH20100There has been this stain on my vinyl floor for the last several years. No amount of mopping, scrubbing or chemicals have been able to get it completely removed. To this day I still have no idea where this stubborn stain had come from. After receiving this product I thought, "If this can get that stupid stain out, I''ll give it a 5 star review." So to work I went.

At first I used the extender attachment on the floor (along with the cleaner that came with the product), set it to high clean, blasted it for several minutes, wiped it with a rag and the stain didn''t budge. I was about to call it quits but for the sake of the review I thought, "What the heck... I''ll give the small plastic brush attachment a shot" but had little expectation after that. The plastic (not metal) brush in conjunction with the steam removed the stain with just a little elbow grease. I was floored (hehe)! I no longer have to hide the stain with an awkwardly placed appliance. Also shocking, my vinyl floor has a ton of grooves and pits by design and all of the darker ridges I thought were part of the design was actually dirt that had gotten deep into the vinyl! When I stopped cleaning my stain area I realized how gross the rest of the floor was by comparison. I mop and sweep regularly!!!

After that I started seeking out things in the house that needed a good scrubbing. First up was the refrigerator door handle. I have a white fridge with a plastic textured handle that has turned gray from grubby kid hands. It only took seconds for the grossness to melt away as opposed to the other times I have cleaned it and scrubbed for several minutes. I was starting to wish I had kept the old nasty shower door from the bathroom before the remodel. I am super curious to hear how this performs on showers from others'' experiences. The only reason we didn''t put a shower door in the bathroom post-remodel is because it was ridiculous to keep clean.

So why four-stars after my promise of a five-star review if Hoover could remove my stain? Well.... I used it on a HOT day and was wearing shorts and was barefoot... yeah... I know... but between the heat and the steam I wasn''t putting on long pants to test a product that I didn''t believe would actually work. I also moved my precious works of art from the fridge to the nearby kitchen table. I removed one star for the amount of sputtering which hit my legs/feet and ended up on my Picassos. I did NOT receive burns and there was no major damage to my child''s artwork, however, I think there should definitely be less sputtering and the Hoover should be able to maintain a steady flow of steam instead of steam/spray/sputter/steam. I would recommend pants or other protective clothing in case your skin is more sensitive then mine and be sure to move items away from the surrounding area where you will be working. Also, all the sputtering just makes water pool up on the floor unnecessarily, wastes the water/cleaning solution, and makes the steamer less effective.

I have posted my before and after stain photos under "Product Images" if anyone is interested. I highly recommended this product to save time and energy getting out those tough stains/messes that seem to melt away with this product.

The Hoover Enhanced Clean handheld steam cleaner is a powerhouse in a small package. In hand the unit feels no heavier and is no larger than a pitcher of water half full. Not difficult by any means to carry around and use, but at the same time is quality made. One can tell that every attention to detail has been addressed when they were making this.

Each attachment locks into place securely, but is also simple enough to figure out how to put together with out instruction. It comes with a wonderful selection of brushes and tools, one for every cleaning job you can think of. The hose attachments have 2 reusable cloth pads for each attachment (total of 4). So even if you have one being washed in the laundry, you have a second one that can still be used. The bristles on the brushes are a mix of ones made of firm nylon some with wire bristles.

The unit itself is extremely easy to operate. The on/off button is on the side near the bottom. A blue light indicates when it''s turned on and another light indicates when the steam is ready. There is a not near the top which allows you to adjust the amount (if any is used) of cleaner that is mixed in with the steam. The steam is released by pressing down on a lever on the handle. The nob on the top of the unit is for opening and closing the area where you pour in the water. This nob has a rubber texture to it so one can easily grip it even if their hands are wet. The option use cleaning solution is poured into a small reservoir located at the bottom of the handle.

I am beyond thrilled with the performance of this steam cleaner. I am able to steam out dirt that has wedged itself in the seams of our floors between the flooring and kitchen cabinets. I am able to get the black stuff cleaned out from the inside of window frames, clean out the sticky stuff that collects under the microwave and refrigerator, remove the mold from crevices in the bathtub and steam away the yuck that you can''t see from around faucets in the kitchen and bathrooms.

No matter how clean it seems you are able to get something with paper towels and spray cleaners, you will be shocked how much more dirt/grease/mold/etc its removed when you use a steam cleaner afterwards.

This unit gets very hot and packs a lot of steam for being compact and handheld. It''s easy to use and even comes with a Hoover tote bag for keeping your steamer safe and the accessories all together. Sleek looking and built for results, I high recommend this Hoover Enhanced Clean Steam Cleaner if you looking for stellar results and working within a budget.

Buy Hoover TwinTank Disinfecting Handheld Steam Cleaner Now

I''ve been using steam cleaners for several years, both hand-held and canister. While I generally prefer canister models, this is one of the few handheld models I''ve tried that actually performs well.

Hoover offers a unique feature in that there''s a dispensing system so you can add a Hoover-brand disinfectant cleaner (as expected, the user''s manual states that no other brand other than Hoover cleaners can be used). There''s a control knob that meters out how much cleaner is dispensed. Granted, this feature is the opposite of why some people use steam cleaners -the ability to clean WITHOUT using chemicals. But, using the chemical is optional, and the unit will function just fine as a plain steamer.

There are several pros to this model:

> Temperature is the best of any handheld unit I''ve tried: consistently 150 to 160 F at the tip without any attachments; 125 to 130 at the tip when using the extension hose. Pretty good for such a little guy!

> Lots of attachments are provided for many different tasks. The attachments attach and remove easily and securely. I especially like that the brushes snap in using a retaining system that does not rely on O-rings (which usually fail pretty quickly).

> Has an on/off button so you can turn it off without having to pull the plug.

> Very quiet (especially compared with some canister units that you need ear plugs to use).

> Fast to heat up (few minutes).

> Comes with a storage bag (sort of a large tote bag) to hold the many bits and pieces. The bag quality is only so-so, but just having one is a nice touch.

> Extra long power cord with a Velcro tie to keep it organized in storage.

> Steam is pretty dry, although not dry enough for this to be useful as a means to kill bedbugs or clean mattresses. Best of all is that there is virtually no condensation in the hose between uses. Normally, low-end steam cleaners release a splat of water when you let them sit a few minutes between uses. Not so with this model.

Down sides and quirks are:

> The included nylon brushes are very soft and deform easily under heat. After less than 2 hours of use one is already getting pretty worn. Since brushes are a critical component to any steam cleaner, Hoover should have included more of them as well as include stiffer nylon brushes that last longer and are good on grout.

> The steam trigger switch does not have a lock, so you must keep it depressed to use. While I can see the safety reasons behind this, it makes using this a two-handed operation most of the time. Very annoying! I''ve used other handheld steamers that had a trigger lock and I''ve never had any safety issues. Still have all 10 fingers and no burns!

> While the steam temperature is excellent, the steam pressure is anemic. This is a mixed blessing in that low pressure is good for some tasks (cleaning walls, cleaning in enclosed areas such as microwaves, etc.) but higher pressure is much more effective for other tasks since the pressure, in combination with the steam, blasts out the crud hiding in the corners (such as stoves, around faucets, grills, etc.). It''s common to have a pressure regulator so you can dial the pressure up and down. This model does not have it you only get low pressure. I''m guessing that''s due to the fact that low pressure is best when using the dispensing system.

> You need to be careful not to cross thread the knob when putting it on after filling up the unit with water. A beefier knob would be better.

In conclusion: if you''re looking for a hand held unit, this should certainly be on your short list. A bit pricy for a hand held, but a lot of features.

General musings on steam cleaners:

Should you get a hand held or a canister? Hand helds are good for quick cleaning jobs, are easy to store, and heat up fast. For example, I can get my stove top cleaned with a hand held steamer in the time it takes most canisters to warm up. But, they suffer from lower power, less water capacity, and the inability to do floors.

So, unless you really are pressed for storage space, a cannister will give you more bang for the buck. In the under-100 dollar category good canister models are made by Wager, McColloch (sp?) and Steamfast. My favorite is the Euroflex Monster canister which is no longer made, but can occasionally be found at places such as Sam''s Club.

Keep in mind that the under $100 dollar price point will not get you a lot when it comes to steam cleaners. Nice units are in the several hundred range, and can easily top $1500. Moving up the price ladder gets you hotter steam, higher pressure, better build quality, and features such as dual tanks so you can refill without having to let the unit cool down.

The "sell" for household handheld or canister steam cleaners has long been the argument that you can throw away caustic or potentially dangerous chemicals and still get your surfaces clean and germ free. It''s a "green" argument as well less products washing down the drains and into the sewers and water tables being a Good Thing.

Hoover has definitely retooled that argument with this new handheld cleaner it uses an optional disinfecting solution, a proprietary formulation sold by Hoover, as a 2nd line of defense against germs and bacteria. You can fill the solution tank and spray that for a touted 99.9% effectiveness against germs, or just stick with the steam for unspecified lesser efficiency.

I don''t know if that is partly the function of the machine''s maximum temperature, but the manual for the Hoover Handheld Steamer cautions that you have to steam an area for a long time, perhaps longer than is good for whatever is being steamed, in order to get full benefit of steam''s ability to sterilize items. Hence the disinfecting solution.

Now I''m not a huge fan of sterility germ wise in the home environment. Why? If you read studies and current medical thought on the issue, all the antibacterial this and that in our homes, as well as in institutional environments, are encouraging the evolution of antibiotic-resistant "superbugs", and maybe even contributing to an increase of health issues in young children not exposed to the variety of bugs kids used to be, at a young age. Remember farms? And kids being outside all day, getting downright dirty? Exposure also builds immunities; we may literally be cleaning ourselves sick!

Which is not to say that I want to be a slob, and in fact a steamer that kills most of the bugs, leaving me the choice of whether I want to get even more aggressive with the disinfection on *some* surfaces, sounds pretty good to me.

An embarrassing secret: I bought a canister steamer years ago, which is still in pristine condition today, mostly because I haven''t much used it. It was hot and noisy and the manual had plenty of warnings about potentially breakage if you used it on cold glass, and so on. It made me nervous.

After testing the heat of the Hoover (very hot on immediate surface contact but not so much that I have much concern about a little peripheral steam that may hit my skin or surrounding items), I am now fearlessly using it on mirrors and my home''s windows (spotless I''ll never want to go back to rags or newspaper and a spray bottle) though I''ll doubtless be more careful with the later in winter. And I am pretty amazed at how much it can do, for it''s size.

Hard water has made shower door cleaning a real bear in my current home. I can either use one of the really strong bathroom cleaners with the contact warnings all over the bottle, or considerable vinegar/baking soda/elbow grease. Using the Hoover wow. Not perfect; I still had to follow up with a bit of the baking soda paste, but I have never seen the door as clean with so little effort.

A special "hate" of mine is caustic oven cleaners, and even with self-cleaning ovens, there are always areas you have to go after by hand, particularly the door. I still have to do a bit of pre-prep loosening with ammonia in a pan the night before to basically evaporate into crud-loosening fumes, but once that pan is removed, I''m finding the steamer helps to make quick work of whatever stubborn bits still cling.

This is NOT a model with attachments for the floor, although Hoover''s other new release in steamers is a "dedicated" floor unit. I''m somewhat ambivalent in how much I like that splitting of tasks. On the one hand, I imagine that an "upright" would be easier to use on floors than my canister model with the hose, much as an upright dry vac tends to push around easier than a canister vac. Also, although the Hoover Handheld is fairly light for what it does, it''s more work for the wrist than a hose attachment on a canister, and the tank is smaller/needs to be refilled more often than the canister. I''d recommend this unit, for that reason, only conditionally to older folks or those with concerns about carpal tunnel/past wrist injuries. That''s not a big knock against the product though there''s no perfect tool for everybody.

I find some of the attachments to this steamer somewhat silly, including the squeegees and cleaning pads that attach by way of a long, rigid(ish) hose and an adaptor. I can''t see where they are anything but clunky, and I worry that they cool down the steam that I''m trying to keep hot for whatever item I''m cleaning. It''s just less work to use a separate squeegee, microfiber cloth, or whatever from my point of view.

I also have concerns about the inability of using a descaler on this product, although I believe that many steamers share the same inability to be descaled without damage. In a hard water area, I''d stick with distilled water in the boiler tank.

Only time will tell how durable this little machine will be. I can tell you that it will not end up relegated to the back of my cleaning closet, because it works better on many surfaces than I really expected it possibly could.

I had a bigger steam cleaner before this one, but I love this little handheld one. It''s easier to get out and get to work, and has so far been getting used at least weekly. Pretty much I just like to walk around the house and hit any dirty areas with steam and wipe them clean. I even used it on my car engine and it''s beautiful. It works on baseboards, grout, countertops, shower doors, tubs (wonderful for soap scum), kitchen appliances, walls, and more. My house is looking cleaner and cleaner every week!

Tap Master CFF25-10 Tap Master Jr F2 Replacement Water Filter

Tap Master CFF25-10 Tap Master Jr F2 Replacement Water Filter, Activated Alumina/GAC Fluoride Filter, White
  • Replacement filter for Tap Master Jr F2
  • Exceptional filtration: reduces Fluoride, Arsenic, and Selenium, as well as Chlorine and Chemicals
  • Feed water: PSI 20 - 100 PSI
  • Feed water Temperature: 40 Degree - 100 Degree F
  • change the filter every 3 months or 500-Gallon depending on the hardness of your water

I like to know that my water is as pure as it can get. I had this filter attached to my water line to my refrigerator to rid my water of floride, of course you need the housing too; I got that somewhere else. I believe with all my heart that our drinking water (unless you buy distilled bottled water like Le Bleu) is killing us and our pets. I also have a big blue attached to my main water line to rid all of my household water of chlorine, my water actually is quadruple filtered; I also have a carbon filter, so the water to my refrigerator is filtered 4 different times before I or my family drink/cook with it. Maybe it''s overkill but I''ll take my chances. I hope today you decide to filter your own water. Happy Drinking!!!

The Tap Master Jr has been an excellent addition to our health. The water is delicious! And I feel so much better knowing it is CLEAN. I do wish there were some sort of meter on it to know you are actually using 500 gallons and getting your money''s worth. Especially since the system itself costs $99 and the replacement filters cost $30. About to get my 4th one.

I couldn''t figure out how in the world to install this filter, but after wrestling with the Tap Master for awhile, it just came apart. There is a way to do it but it''s intuitive at least to me. The filter fit perfectly and after the first flush of charcoal, it''s working fine. I''m glad Amazon carries it!

Easy to use this to replace the older filter. Water tastes great! Doesn''t last as long filtering Chicago water, tho.

Austin Air Healthmate Plus Blend Air Purifier

Austin Air Healthmate Plus Blend Air PurifierThis unit does a nice job on cleaning air and odors. It also has very long life filters. However it is loud (at high settings) and the air comes out one small area on the top side giving the discharge a "blow dryer" like air velocity. It would be better to have the air come out fully around the top instead of one little opening.

PUR 5 Cup Water Filter Pitcher CR-4000 Save 17% Off

PUR 5 Cup Water Filter Pitcher CR-4000The PUR CR-4000 5 Cup Pitcher with One Pitcher Filter is only slightly smaller than the PUR CR-6000 7-Cup Water Filtration Pitcheror PUR CR-6000C 2-Stage Oval Water Pitcher with LED Indicator. But it is a much more affordable option. What you give up is the stability and usefulness of the other models. While the top half of the units, and the filters, are about the same, the base of this model is shorter and has a more narrow base. That means while I can fill my other pitcher standing in the sink, this pitcher tips over because the base is too narrow to be stable on any surface that''s not completely flat.

PROS:

++ Good value with the same 2-stage filter as larger models

++ 5 cup capacity is perfect for filling at once (larger models require you to wait for water to filter, then fill again)

++ Reasonable water quality and taste improvement (though some filters are better)

++ Pitcher size is compact enough to fit in small spaces

CONS:

-Overly narrow base makes it easy to tip the unit over (can''t stand on its own in the sink)

-Cannot pour while filtering (the top leaks more than the tops on larger models)

-No spout cover to protect filtered water from refrigerator odors

-No light indicator for filter changes

-Larger capacity models are not much wider or taller

CONCLUSION

As long as you carefully fill this unit and only place it on flat surfaces, it''s a decent value. But considering the parts are all similar, I wish the larger capacities were sold at a similar value. This is good but if you don''t need the compact size it''s worth paying for the larger models.

It''s very compact and basic, but does the job. No complaints here so far. Great size for one or two people to share. It easily fills two glasses with water before needing refilled. The filter it uses seems very high quality. And, perhaps most importantly, according to the research I did, it looks like this pitcher is entirely BPA-free.

Actually this model shares the same parts of the lid and blue water tank with 7cup model. So it''s like this model is just a little bit shorter by about 2cm. I saw local store is selling 7 cup with LED for less $15. I bought 5 cup model for space saving but actually it didn''t matter.

The other thing is no spout cover. Although not hard to put on foil to cover, it doesn''t look nice. After getting rid of chlorine or something, the water becomes vulnerable against bacteria. So I think this kind of pitcher should have a cover. It seems old Pur models had it though.

CRYSTAL QUEST Mega Undersink Replaceable Double Fluoride Water Filter System Save 8% Off

CRYSTAL QUEST Mega Undersink Replaceable Double Fluoride Water Filter System
  • Eagle Redox Alloy® is a major advancement in water treatment technology that works on the electro-chemical and spontaneous-oxidation-reduction (REDOX) principles. Chlorine is instantaneously and almost inexhaustibly oxidized.
  • Easy to use and install on most sinks.
  • Please note: When considering installation, if current under sink plumbing is hard copper tubing the saddle valve would be used; for flex tubing the T-valve would be required. Saddle valve is sent with order unless T-valve is specified.
  • Dimensions: 10"L x 14"H (10"+4" to change cartridge) x 5"W

I installed the 7 stage under sink fluoride, lead, arsenic filter last weekend and I am very impressed so far.

The installation was easy, but the instructions state that you must be a licensed plumber to do the install or the warranty is void. The system uses a saddle-valve to tap into the existing water line. This type of valve can be risky and are against code in some areas.

The overall quality is great. The faucet we received is different than the one pictured...for the better. It has an actual lever with a variable flow setting...instead of the cheasy-older black levers that you have to hold down.

I live in Minnesota where we have VERY hard water and the city does add fluoride. Please note that our city supplied water goes through a whole house carbon/sediment filter before it reaches the Crystal Quest unit. Nonetheless Our water was slimy and somewhat bitter before the filter was installed..After it tastes great. It tastes exactly like good bottled water. BUT NOT LIKE RO. I recommend against RO due to its lack of minerals and once you get used to it all other water tastes gross.

Overall, very pleased with the purchase.

West Bend 58030 12-30 Automatic Party Perk Save 38% Off

West Bend 58030 12-30 Automatic Party PerkI have owned 3 West Bend coffee pot just like this since 1991each one lasting at least 8 years with heavy use. I purchased my first to make my own coffee to serve at impromptu receptions that I hosted on sight in my sales job. I use a gallon of bottled water, nice paper filters and Maxwell House French Roast coffee. Hundreds of gallons of coffee later I have no complaints! I keep a second pot for teaI have never made coffee in itit is my superior hot water pot. As the other reviewer statesthese pots are hot and the coffee is never cold.

I have thrown parties, family gatherings, and had it in my office serving coffee every day and everyone agreesperked coffee tastes best. I do not care for Starbucks the strong acid is not my thing. I prefer a strong cup of perked coffee. The percolator allows the coffee to actually cook which reduces the acid.Anything leftover from morning gets put into a pitcher and into the fridge for iced coffee in the afternoonit is so yummy! For smaller quantity the Westbend home percolators are greatnot your grandma''s machine they have nice easy to read and follow settings and again the superior flavor over drip. This unit is easy to cleando not let the size intimidate you.

This coffee maker 58030 is far better than was anticipated before having bought it. It has performed well.

As with so many reviews of different items, you truly only know the best reviews of items after a longer period of time.

Reviews later could be quite different than today for anyone.

My only concerns to consider as time passes is the performance of the Faucet lever which could potentially break. Not really confident that the lever will withstand countless usage.May be valid perception, just not quite sure.

Just in case, the lever assembly segment is called, Part # P69-104D

If one day,the lever fails, order the lever earlier as a backup or order the part instead of trashing the entire maker.

Other part numbers to be considered are as followed.

P947-20D is handle kit for two sides with screws

P122-45 is the black colored tray for placing your coffee onto it

L5590 is the operator manual incase you ever would want another.

P172-49D is the stem assembly that stands up inside coffeemaker. The stem kindof looks like a lower quality type of metal and looks gross after a short period of time.

P193-74 is the detachable plug with folks may lose if they were possibly moving to a new home.

P306-2 is that gigantic black cover that turns as a lid.

This feedback is to assist anyone from trashing this beast afterwards.

Coffee tastes well using the West Bend 58030 maker, last cup or two may include grinds residue.

To date, am pleased with this coffeemaker.

For you, price match for least competitive pricing. Do not assume Amazon or anyone will not upon occasion jack up the price.

For Amazon,do not price yourself away from the getting the sale. This coffeemaker is sold at countless outlets.

I posted the review below some time ago, saying that the product could not be used for heating water. However, I have found that the current models CAN be used for heating water, and my new one is just as good as the one that I had many years ago. Note -the person at customer service told me that the "well" at the bottom needs to be scrubbed frequently in order to keep the water hot.

=====================

I had a similar model that that gave 10 years of excellent service, heating water for tea and keeping it hot for long periods. Unfortunately the spout started to leak so I had to replace it. I used this new product twice, for heating water, and then it died. The customer service reps told me it was designed to be used only for coffee, and they claimed that using it for water actually voided the warranty. My instruction manual did not give any indication at all that the product should not be used for water. It seems to me that, since so many people use these for purposes other than making coffee, and since other brands can be used for these purposes, the description on Amazon.com should disclose that the West Bend has limited uses.

From reading other reviews I wasn''t sure wether it would be suitable for Shabbat or not (i.e keeping it running 24 hours over the sabbath). But after having used it for most of the year, almost every week, it works great. I recommend it as a Shabbat urn (i.e for up to 24 hours use straight).

Want West Bend 58030 12-30 Automatic Party Perk Discount?

Mine works just fine I have no complaints, and I recommend it. I do have two things to note, however.

First, the capacity (12-30 cups) is based on the assumption that a cup is 5 ounces in size. That''s really small an official "cup" is 8 ounces, and most people use a 10 ounce coffee mug. So, you should probably think of it as more of an "8-15 cup capacity" machine.

Second, the owner''s manual recommends how much ground coffee to use in the pot these recommendations gave me VERY strong coffee. It may take some experimenting to come up with the right recipe.

Enforcer DC16 18-Ounce Drain Care Build-Up Remover Powder Save 41% Off

Enforcer DC16 18-Ounce Drain Care Build-Up Remover Powder
  • Enzymatic drain cleaner
  • Ends slow drains
  • Safe for all plumbing
  • Safe for septic systems
  • Cleans and removes years of build-up in the plumbing system

After using every other enzyme, name brand drain foam, soup, syrup, and whatever other junk I could find at the store to no avail, I turned to Enforcer. It worked!

We have small pipes and they were clogged as soon as we moved in. This was gunka junka. We poured many different things down the drain.

In three days, Enforcer cleared up the drains. Here is the most important thing:

Pour boiling hot water down the drain first.

Then mix the powder in a quart of warm water (same as you would yeast).

Pour down drain (no standing water)

Then wait at least 6 hours (we waited 12)

Pour another pot of boiling water down the drain

repeat until fully unclogged

We estimate it cleaned up decades of funk. Having bought two jars of it, we have plenty to spare so we will use it for maintenance.

Giving it 5 stars. This is a winner.

This product works for me but with some caveats. I used it to clear slow draining sinks but, after the three treatments, the drain would become even SLOWER to drain than before. What happened was that as the enzymes attacked the heavy buildup in the trap, the buildup would partially delaminate from the pipe walls and become larger in size as it got saturated with liquid. The water saturated and larger buildup would clog up the pipe even more. Normal draining at this stage would not rinse the partially delaminated gunk from the trap. I had to resort to using a plunger to clear the delaminated gunk. What the plunger pulled up looked like a lot of soft, water saturated seaweed. After using the plunger, the sink trap became very free flowing.

Using the plunger alone without the enzymes would not have done nearly as good a job. The enzymes helped to delaminate the buildup from the pipe wall. So, at least for me, the enzyme product and the plunger had to be used together to get the job done.

I will chime in here also. ZEP ZDC16 actually does work! We have a tub upstairs which has been giving me trouble for years. It never gets completely clogged but starts draining slower and slower. This is a plastic drain pipe going into a septic tank. I used to use gallons of boiling water both before and after pouring a gallon of liquid plumber down the drain. I''d heat the pipes up with hotwater first. Then pour a couple of gallons of boiling water down the drain followed by some warm Liguid Plumber. A few hours later I would rinse with a couple more gallons of boiling water. This worked most of the time.

This last time I used a treatment of the foaming Liquid Plumber. This is a bleach based product. I let this sit overnight. And it did work much better than my normal routine. But I also bought some of the ZEP ZDC16 at the home improvement store and decided to apply it for the next several days. The drain in the bathtub upstairs worked better every single day. It now works like new. I assume that the deposits that were causing the problem have been eaten by the bacteria/enzyme cleaner. I was skeptical about both the foam and the Zep, but they did the trick. We have had trouble for years and now I think I found the solution.

I had a shower drain that was so slow that by the end of the shower the water was past my ankles. Very annoying. The drains in the house are old cast iron. I followed the directions of one of the reviewers here by using boiling water in conjunction with allowing the stuff to lay in the drain more than 6 hours.

After 3 days, I was disappointed to find that the drain was still clogged. I waited about 5 days and then decided to put another treatment in the night before. The next evening, my wife decided to take a shower and again it was flooded. After she was out for 10 minutes, it was still draining. I was so annoyed that I took a plunger and went after it pretty violently. It worked. I was shocked.

I had used a drain king on this same drain and gave the drain king stellar reviews. It seems that there was too much gunk in this drain that the Drain King could not remove all that stuff. I''m happy to report that this stuff does actually work.

I also conducted a little experiment. I had a toilet that was leaking and I had to take the toilet out. In doing so, I had a great look at my old cast iron drain from the toilet. It was filled with gunk. I wanted to see if the enzyme stuff would do something to the drain. So i filled the enzyme cleaner in a plastic bottle with warm water and poured it all over that drain. Some of the cleaner puddled on the bottom of the curved drain and in ten minutes all the gunk was cleaned like a new drain. Very amazing to look at. This only happened on the puddled part. The parts that were poured onto looked dried and didn''t have any change in appearance.

I still have to do somemore toilet repair so maybe the next time I plan to expose the drain, I''ll take a video of the enzyme stuff doing its thing so you can see for yourself.

Save 41% Off

For those of you who complained that this stuff doesn''t cut through hair...it''s true that hair is made out of amino acids but this does not make it a ''protein''. Hair is protected by keratin and the molecular linkages exclude water. So an enzymatic product can''t penetrate the exterior hair coating, and if you''re talking about hair coated with lots of commercial products it''s that much harder. Lye based drain openers explode the outer keratin layer. I find this product very useful for maintenance and I typically chuck it down all the toilets and drains before going on vacation for 2 3 days or longer.

BISSELL Spotbot Pet Handsfree Spot and Stain Cleaner Save 28% Off

BISSELL Spotbot Pet Handsfree Spot and Stain Cleaner with Deep Reach Technology, 33N8AWell our 2 older cats (Lucy & Ethel) don''t get sick often at all. For that I am grateful since I (the husband) am retired, and stuck to face whatever disaster comes while the wife is at work. But I am squeamish when it even comes to scooping their "you know what" when it is time and actually wear a gas mask if forced to do that job. I may be a USMC Combat Veteran, but I draw the line at liter boxes & Diapers! I may be brave, but I AIN''T no HERO!

My wife just bought an upright steam cleaner from Eureka since all our carpet is now about 20 years old. It was expensive carpet and we have no kids so it has worn extremely well but is still getting tired. And since I retired I keep getting into trouble for bringing in grease or oil stains after working on our motorcycles or motor scooters. No matter what I do, I am always getting into trouble one way or the other. It''s kind of like I am a 62 year old Dennis The Menace according to the wife? Well her big & expensive steam cleaner is more trouble than I will EVER go to to use and when she is done with it we sometimes have a "fair" measure of success, most often not and it even seems to expand whatever the stain by spreading it around. NOT good and once that happens, nothing we try helps.

For the record, we used to just use Resolve or other similar cleaning chemicals & do the best we could by hand. At least this way we never, EVER made the stains worse. When I saw this to try on the Amazon Vine Program I knew it would just be another gadget that would stink, leak and aggravate me more than the LAST gimmick I tried....Before I get into my trial of this machine, here are a couple things you may or may not already know. It has 5 different buttons.

1 for Fresh Surface Stains.

1 for Set IN OLDER Stains.

1 for Pause & Resume

1 for Hose Attachment

1 for "STOP"

You choose whichever chemical you desire and add water also. Press the button for whatever type stain you have after placing the cleaner over your stain. The computer on-board will do the rest! 2 different brushes move in a weird way I can only describe as a motion similar to the motion of a car motor with a rotary engine. It''s actually kind of hypnotic to watch but I was afraid to just LEAVE IT since the wife''s steam cleaner can cause so much damage...I also have to admit this is designed for smaller "spot" type stains, NOT cleaning an entire carpet so just understand while it may work well for your different type stains, NOT just pet stains, it is for localized areas, not large sections of carpet. I also have to admit that since I don''t have any pet stains but had 8 grease stains, that is what I tried this on. And it was so simple I didn''t wait for my wife to get home and tell me I am "doing it wrong!) as usual either. I had 6 of the stains that were very OLD stains. I mean over 10 years old. The other 2 fresher (maybe a month old) from the latest motorcycle servicing....

This little unit actually worked. I mean it got out ALL of the stains, all 8. I have no idea how? More important, how it does so much better than a high priced steam cleaner. Maybe it it the chemicals used (provided with this unit)? Maybe the design of the brushes, or probably the combination? I don''t know, I don''t care. I used the "tough stain'' setting which took 6 minutes to cycle through. (Easier "surface stains" only require a 3 minute cycle to clean.) I also used the hand manual cleaner to soak up some more of the wetness left after it finished. How can I NOT give this 5 stars? I never ever do until I have owned it over a year to verify it''s durability. But this surpassed our other efforts by SO much I am beginning with a full 5 stars this time. If anything changes, I always update and will do so again with this & lower my rating if needed. But given the amazing job this did on such a wide variety of stains (old & new alike), I doubt this 5 stars will ever get downgraded? Short of blowing up, or leaking & stinking like all before it, it will deserve every bit of my 5 star rating.

A couple of thing maybe worth adding?

-It has a 7 Inch brush area

-Has a NICE 16 foot cord!

-Tank holds 32 ounces

-LOVE that it has a carry handle

-Includes BOTH the Oxy Gen 2 cleaner (16 ounces) AND 2X Ultra Pet Stain & Oder Chemical (8 ounces) TRIAL sizes however!

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

1st Update:

-Oh SHOCK! My wife is home and pointed out 2 more stains I missed. She says I "never see them, never will" whatever that means? Worked again on both and these are about 4-6 weeks old per my mean old wife....And I need to also point out a very important item. Even on these stains we could never get out using ANYTHING we ever tried? ALL we used was the single chemical provided called "2X Pet Stain"! Now I did set the computer at the full "SET IN OLDER STAINS" Program but never even added any of the so called Oxy Gen 2 cleaner they ask you to use for that setting. Never even needed it. This machine just keeps surprising me to no end. The cats sneak up on it to attack when it goes into it''s quiet mode. But when that mode changes and the vacuum parts comes on? They are 2 20 pounds (EACH) old lady cats on a new quest to break the sound barrier in their retreat! Fun for the whole family.....

UPDATE Much later on December 17 2011: OK, still working like a charm. I just spilled 4 beers I had just opened and not yet touched (Please, just don''t even ASK!) and knocked them all over when moving a pile of Amazon deliveries that just arrived. Spilled full 48 ounces of beer on an expensive carpet under the bar table (pub table actually). Thank God my 2 cats Lucy & Ethel LOVE beer.... They both came running from their afternoon coma''s and dove in to help. I guess they just don''t know if there will be a new treat of new disaster to enjoy when I scramble to save myself. So I dig this thing out and here we are, so much later and it still works 100% as well as always. Just need to tell you this little jewel is STILL as reliable at cleaning up as I am at making a mess. If you don''t hear from me till next year it''s probably ciz the old woman locked me in the garage again......

UPDATE, March 23 2012: Well the plot thickens. I took up home brewing with 2 new Coopers DIY 6 gallons (each) home beer brewing kits. Now i know what you must be thinking....OK, you''re right. But stuff just happens I tell ya. I mean, with all the work & transfer of fluids going on it is simply flat impossible to not spill. And I have to keep it all inside due to temperature control. Anyway, this little Bissell Spotbot may just end up in Court. No, not what you thing this time. THIS time my wife is considering legal adoption of the thing. I know it doesn''t get used every single day. Well MOST days anyway. But it does get used every week. And I have to say the old wife would never even know anything has gone wrong if it weren''t for the 2 cats ( Lucy & Ethel) who ALWAYS lead her to whatever spot I have cleaned and flat out rat me out. The fat lazy cats won''t even get up to play in their old age but they damned well LOVE to watch fireworks when they show go sniffing around whatever it is I have cleaned and then act all "innocent". Bottom line is this thing may outlive me? And according to my wife, it better....

UPDATE Jan 7 2013:

Well this is STILL used weekly and not a single failure. Now I fail daily, my 2 cats Lucy & Ethel are old and ALSO fail daily (but the mean old wife never beats them like she does me!), and this device has saved me from continual mayhem by the wife. I am so grateful to this device. I figure I must feel the same level of gratitude that some husbands must feel when they need Viagra at this point?

I was drawn to this product because of its promise to effortlessly tackle set-in stains, of which there are several in my often-used den thanks to my cat and two-year-old. The Spotbot was pretty easy to set up right out of the box, and it came with two solution bottles. Once I started to use it on the first problematic area, I realized the limitations. It is, indeed, a SPOT bot, meaning that it can only handle a very small circular area, about six inches in diameter, during one five-minute cleaning cycle. For small stains, this is fine and the product works well. But for those of us with a larger area, or several small stains, it will take a great deal of time and effort to use the Spotbot. The two bottles that came with the product were completely used up after three cleaning cycles.

I last used the Spotbot about two weeks ago, and before writing this review, I revisited the spots since, according to the paperwork, it could take as long as 72 hours for the cleaning fluid to work its magic. While those three circular areas were much cleaner than before, I noticed that the circular pattern in my carpet was still there two weeks later and the carpet was pretty hard and crusty in those spots. And this was after I followed all of the instructions, including an initial vacuum pass before starting the cleaning cycle.

Buy BISSELL Spotbot Pet Handsfree Spot and Stain Cleaner Now

I was very happy to recieve the Bissel Spotbot cleaner as I''ve had some extremely stubborn organic BUT not pet-based stains in my carpet.

(Though I''m glad I do have it for when we do get a dog in the near future.)

The stairs and the area around our TV are the most difficult areas to keep up with spot cleaning due to foot traffic, frequency food and drink spills, and awkwardness of reaching many of the stains.

I normally use an Earth-friendly spot spray that generaaly does a good job if I get to the stain quick enough, but as I said I have some very stubborn areas.

The day the Spotbot arrived, I immediately set it to work on an area on the stairs.

NOTE: read ALL of the instructions before starting AND make sure the cap on the HOT water tank is secured properly before putting the tank in place or you''ll have a spillout like I did.

The Spotbot is super easy to use, but not brainless.

Back to the stairs...

I considered using the hands-free option, but given the location of the spots I couldn''t. The manual option worked very well, though.

So well in fact, I got moving around to every annoying stain area that came to mind (including stuff that was here when we moved in 5 years ago) and the Spot Bot dealt with it all.

I have to add that I think it''s rather user friendly if you use it mindfully while you have a baby crawling around. And though I think the solutions are pet and kid fiendly as they say, I woyldn''t use this in an area where baby will soon play.

Overall I was EXTREMELY pleased with my experience (except for how darn noisy the thing is...like ten times more than my hair dryer). So much so that when some red wine was spilled on our cream carpet over the weekend I didn''t spring up to deal with.

"Meh," I told my husband. "I''ll Spotbot it tomorrow."

Seems Bissell made design changes to the SpotBot Pet and this is the NEW listing on Amazon. I am copying over my original review from ASIN B000NNZ2WU. If you go there you will see my review and it shows I am someone who did buy it. I feel this review can be placed here because in the end I ended up with the unit in this listing. You really ought to read the full review below anhd see why I do not like this unit and suggest you not buy it...

---COPY OF REVIEW FROM ASIN B000NNZ2WU----

It pains me to have to give this product only 2 stars.

I originally bought the Pet Spot Bot in 2003 I believe (may have been 2004) at a Linens and Things. I loved the unit. It was a miracle come true for one who owned 7 cats at the time. The unit cleaned perfect, worked great and I had no complaints. Over the years our extremely hard water here (for those of you who know how to rate hardness, we are about 112 grains! YES for real. With the softener we have we end up with about 15, but that is still exceedingly hard) destroyed the unit. It was caked with buildup and clogging from the calcium and iron. It finally died in the spring and I decided I had to get another. I bought the next on Amazon. When it arrived I noted it had undergone a few changes. Namely it felt a lot cheaper and the unit look cheaper. The plastic was all thinner and more flexible and the containers were a lot thinner and I noted that the new units are made in China, unlike my original unit. I shrugged it off and decided that with the new unit I would ONLY use distilled water. The first use was good, and it cleaned very well. In fact it seemed to clean well each time, except not the unit was leaking from the bottom somewhere. So I exchanged it. The next unit did the same. It would clean well, but leave a good sized puddle behind, and God forbid you leave the cleaning fluid dispenser in the unit as it leaked ALL the liquid out in less than 24 hours. So I contacted Bissell about the problem and they said they never had this issue before. (I have a hard time believing that) They exchanged it for me again and I received the new unit a couple months ago. Initially it worked fine and no leaking, but every time I use it it leaks more and more. This morning I had to use it to clean up a spot where one of our (now 5) cats (who is ill right now) threw up on the carpet. It cleaned it very well, but when I lifted the unit up when it finished there was a 4 inch wet spot where the back of the unit sat. I used a rag and the unit itself to suck the liquid from the carpet. It has also been leaking when it sits in the utility room between uses, so now I take the cleaning fluid tank out of the unit and place it in the utility sink when not in use. I also clean out the waste tank every time I use it.

Generally it still works well, you simply need to clean up the pebbles it leaves behind.

Bissell, if you guys actually read the reviews here, how about fixing the new version of this unit? Why did you have to make it so cheaply now? If/when I find another brand unit that cleans well and does not leak, the Spot Bot will end up in the garbage. Till then, the benefits of it out weight the bad points.

---UPDATE FROM NOVEMBER 30th 2010---

Well, the replacement Bissell had given us is officially going back to them again for replacement! If you use the hose and manual mode, the unit decides it will empty the entire water/cleaner chamber out of the automatic nossle under the unit. The ENTIRE tank just empties into the carpet, leaving a huge soppiung wet area on the carpet! I am very angry with Bissell at this point. Speaking with them I explained how many complaints are on Amazon for a leaking issue and wanted to know why they do this. They avoided the question, so I reasked. They avoided it again, so I reasked. THey avoided it and I said "Please stop refusing to answer my question... A lot of Amazon Reviews claim the same issues. There is obviously a problem. Are you aware of the quantity of reviews and is there a known issue?" Finally she said "We know of no problems with this product. It functions well." What a load. Well, my 3rd unit will be replaced by them now. *sigh* If you are looking at this product to buy, carefully read the reviews and give it a lot of thought.

---UPDATE FROM January 17th 2011---

I received the replacement in late December, but had not had a chance to use it till this weekend. This time they did not send me a new one, but a referbished unit. Okay, I suppose I could live with that, but thought the original purchase was 6 months ago, we have spent the entire time fighting eith broken units. The issye I had was that they sent me a referbished Green Unit, not the Pet. Beyond that, the referbished unit was also broken. The ONLY button on the unit that works is the "manual start" button! So I called them again this morning and this time requested to speak to a manager. When I questioned why I received a referbished unit I was told that it is policy if the unit was bought over 3 months ago. I explained that the original was bout, then 2 months later they had to send a new unit to replace it and then 2.5 months later this unit. I was told it is 3 months from the "original purchase date". I explained I have yet to get more than a few uses out of it and I wanted a NEW unit. They decided to do this for me. I then asked why I recieved the "Green" machine not the Pet and I was told that they are actually the same unit, just a different color and wording on the unit. (What the hell? So bissell charges MORE for the same unit if you get the ''Pet'' unit???)

So now I wait for the shipping tags again so I can send in this "green" unit and get a NEW Pet unit (which by admission is the same as the Green except for the name and color). Once I get it I''ll add to this review again.

March 22 2011

I have had the NEW replacement unit for 2 months now. THey have done a complete overhaul on the unit and it is different in shape and size now. I like the new look more. It worked great through 12 cleanings. Today our senior cat has a problem and I had to do a lot of cleaning on the carpet. After 7 continuous cleanings this morning, the unit made an odd "pop" sound and no more suction. If you turn it off and then back on you get suction again, but after 20 to 45 seconds it makes a "pop" sound and loses all suction.

That is it. I have had it with the Bissell SpotBot. The original unit from 8 or 9 years ago was great and well build and worked like a champ. The new and cheaper made units are just not worth it. I''ll call Bissell again in a few days and get ANOTHER replacement, but I''ll sell it on eBay right away. I need to find a DIFFERENT manufacturer who makes a hand held cleaner or unit like the SpotBot now. I have given up. If I could give it ZERO stars out of 100 I would.

I have never written a review on anything before, but this machine is AMAZING. I have an older cat who has "intestinal issues". I use this thing every day sometimes up to 5 or 6 times a day (to get all the big and little "issue" spots). At first I would clean/scrub it by hand using OxyPro carpet cleaner but mostly all that did was spread it around. I got tired of that and just used the Spot Bot from the start. It completely cleans the carpet and doesn''t leave a stain on my light carpet even from darkest accidents. HINT: Instead of buying the expensive OxyGen additive for tough stains, use a tiny scoop of the OxyClean OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover, Powder 24 oz (680 g) powder in the tank with the detergent and water. Also, I had one of these previously when I didn''t need it too often. I left a tank still filled with water on the unit for some time (b/c the OxyGen and detergent aren''t that cheap) and when I went to use it sometime later, it wouldn''t work. Always take the detergent tank off and empty the waste tank after using. It''s amazing! COULDN''T LIVE WITHOUT IT!
