Omica Shower Filter

Omica Shower FilterI spoke with the salesman re this product and he said that the filter would take out aluminum which is a common deadly metal in all water systems. I decided to purchase two shower filters and then had the water tested. There were 23.3 ug/L of aluminum in the water! For someone with an extreme sensitivity to aluminum, this is very bad news.

Additionally, the filters continually spew out black residue even though they advertise that this will stop after running the water initially. And lastly, my skin is very dry after a shower.

I believe that if you want a filter that effectively removes heavy metals, this isn''t the one. I''m not going to test for the other chemicals they supposedly remove, but you might want to do that if you decide to purchase one of their filters.

I absolutely love my Omica Shower Filter. The product description was very informative and the ordering process was a breeze. The filter arrived on time and was in pristine condition. Installation was a snap and took less than 5 minutes The flow rate is incredible. I have used shower filters in the past, but none of them dealt with the fluoride issue, and that concerned me. I searched for a long time but most fluoride systems were whole house systems. The design is excellent and provides sufficient headroom in the shower. Without a doubt this was one of the best purchases I''ve made EVER.

I live in the city and I was getting rust and copper build-up in my hair. I tried other filters to treat the problem. I had to even just use bottled water to wash my hair for a few weeks, but that''s no way to live. And finally I found the Ormica shower filter. It prevented this from happening again. A shower is not the same unless you have this Ormica shower filter. It''s worth every penny!

March 2013: Someone asked me if this was KDF. I didn''t know. But I found out that it is. Read the link I posted below.

My wife has been asking for this for over a year and I finally got it not thinking it would make that much of a difference. Holy cow was I wrong! I highly recommend this shower filter as it gets out more toxins and chemicals than your average filter. We will be using this in every bathroom!

I live in Los Angeles and the water is terrible. After a few weeks of using the Omica filter, my skin and hair is softer than ever and I don''t smell any traces of chlorine. I did a lot of research and this is the only filter I found to remove fluoride and chlorine. My only complaint is that the filter housing itself doesn''t seem strong enough to install with a heavy, large shower head. as the shower head weight can cause the filter to bend. BUT STILL AMAZING RESULTS!

Brita Grand 80-Ounce Water Filtration Pitcher Save 6% Off

Brita Grand Water Filter Pitcher, WhiteI am having a pretty hard time with the bad reviews here.

This is our second Brita Grand Pitcher. The first one lasted about 15 years. I dropped it into our sink, thereby cracking it, resulting in purchasing the new one. I have found no major differences between the new pitcher and the old pitcher.

1. I have NEVER had a problem with the filter falling out. People, PUSH IT IN!!! It won''t fall out once you push it in firmly, believe me.

2. The lid doesn''t fall off. Unless you have some kind of defective pitcher, the lid does not fall off. Like I said, I''ve had this pitcher (or one like it) for 15 years, and this has never been a problem for me.

3. Yes, you do have to wait for the water to filter through to efficiently pour water out. Big deal. That takes a whopping 1 to 2 minutes. Let''s have some planning, people!

The point is, this pitcher holds a lot of water (about 3 quarts) and it makes your water taste good. It costs around $30 and (unless you drop it, like me) will last at least 15 years. That, to me, is a good buy.

PS I have no financial connection to Brita. I simply have been using it for a long time and am a satisfied customer.

I was a victim of the Brita "Drink Responsibly" advertising campaign (summer 2008) and I bought the pitcher before I read the reviews here. Reading these (1 star) reviews allowed me to look for the problems described and I have not experienced them. I did not note a leaky top, although this may have been because I was being careful thanks to K.M. aka Squishy''s review. I was more concerned about the spout cover problem which I read in a couple of reviews, but I discovered (no pun intended)that the spout cover "floats," that is if you just pour the pitcher the cover lifts and water comes out. Mine did not leak. (this may be a redesign since the old reviews). I was perfectly able to pour water with one had into a glass sitting on the counter (didn''t have to hold the glass either) with no leaks.

Amazon defines 4-stars as "I like it" which I do. It ain''t a cure for cancer. It''s a water pitcher and mine seems to work fine.

I love this pitcher. I chose the grand because it was one of the largest pitchers I could find. I prefer the pitcher to the Ultramax dispenser because it''s easier to refill. After I poor a glass of water, I just immediately fill it up. A previous reviewer said it''s easy to spill the water out the top because you have to wait for it to filter. All the pitchers I use don''t instantly get all the water through the filter. It takes a little bit of time. If you''re being heavy handed with it, then you''ll spill. If you just lift and place in the fridge, you''ll be fine. I like the digital tracker as well. I''m forgetful and until my water tastes terrible, I won''t realize I need to change the filter. I''ve saved so much on water bottles and only need to buy a replacement every three months for about $14.00.

I highly recommend this filter.

I have been a happy Brita owner for over five years. I recently purchased this new green pitcher and I am very disappointed in it. As other reviewers have already noted, the top DOES NOT fit, at all. It will sit on top of the pitcher, but there''s nothing to hold it on. Sure, I can hold it in place with my thumb while pouring and it''s not too much of a bother, but the old design was flawless. Why mess with it? I have not noticed any slower pouring than usual, as others have reported, but I have noticed that the insert in the pitcher which holds the filter itself is now nearly impossible to remove for cleaning.

I will not change to another filter system because I like the crisp refreshing taste of Brita, but I am very disappointed. I may try a different pitcher when I can afford another $30 for a pitcher. :(

Well I REALLY LOVE the clean taste of the water and I expected it from Brita. I got this (my favorite color) Purple Brita Grand knowing that a few of reviews stated a problem with the lid coming off quite easily & IT DOES, one would thing that Brita''s QA department would have noticed this and correct it by now. What I did to correct this problem was to take a rubber band and placed it under the lid around the part that fits into the pitcher & PRESTO it actually works...take a HINT Brita. Otherwise a GREAT Taste Producing thing to have. ;-)

Slant/Fin 6-Pack Mineral Absorption Pads Save 32% Off

Slant/Fin 6-Pack Mineral Absorption PadsDecent price but the cost of shipping makes it almost prohibitive. It is so light and compact, it could have been put in a small envelope and sent for less than $1. Unfortunately there is no other source I could find.

I do not recommend this product as these generic 3 1/4" pads require me to cut the pads down to size to fit Slant/Fin (Enviracare) humidifiers. Slant/Fin humidifiers take mineral absorption pads that are 2 1/4" in diameter rather than this larger size.

In addition, the packaging of the product is wasteful as these generic over-sized pads are packaged two per plastic bag unlike the name-brand Slant/Fin product where all six pads are bagged together.

I will be returning this product to the seller.

Paragon 5-Stage Countertop Water Filter System

Paragon 5-Stage Countertop Water Filter SystemThe Bad:

The Faucet Adaptor 15/16 27 Male Thread sent with the unit was plastic or teflon, in which I personally do not see how this would work with anyone''s kitchen sink aerator because the threads are too soft and WILL STRIP.

Solution: I would go out to Lowes/Ace Hardware/Home depot and buy the brass version. If you can, buy one with at least 5 threads showing each end. I did get the one that looks like it has 2-3 threads, but it was tricky to get it installed soundly with no leaks. I screwed the brass part into my diverter part first, then spun it on the sink to get it to seal properly.

The Good:

* The Filter water flow is awsome.

* The spout appeared to be cheaply made, but don''t worry, it swivels fine and does not leak at all.

* The water quality for my first week is great.

* The Price per gallon will be less than 1 cent if it lasts even 1 year with me.

Conclusion:

I used to use an "NSA" filter in the 1990''s in California, it sold for $60.00, so the price of this unit considering inflation is well priced. I think the other brands that require replacement after so many gallons, or 1-2 months are a SHAM. You will not find a great product like this because your local business only keep items on the shelf that force you to return for the replacement filters often.

Examples:

ZeroWater (12-14 Gallons then it is bad!!! Most expensive gravity filter, and very slow!!!)

Britta Lasts 1-3 months, Good portable solution, but very slow and expensive to keep buying filters.

The filter is good and appears to be high quality. I gave it four stars because my facet required the use of the adapter I received with the filter. The adapter was cheap and did not fit correctly. I did get another one from the local hardware store. I cannot believe that the company would risk its reputation to save a few pennies on an inferior adapter.

I visited relatives in Waco, Tx during early 2005. Their city water had a terrible taste and odor. Shortly thereafter I saw a product demonstration on TV for this Paragon water filter and immediately thought of my relatives in Waco. I ordered the filter for them as a gift. Saying that they were pleased would be a wild understatement. Several of their friends were also impressed with the filter and ordered one for themselves. Time passed and I relocated to the Dallas area. The Dallas city water was also less than desireable and I ordered a filter for myself. That was over six years ago. My filter has worked flawlessly during this period. It is nearing the point of needing to be replaced and I was very pleased to see that Model 3050 is still available.

This is definitely a five star product in anyone''s book.

We absolutly love this filter. We purchased one from sears over 6 years ago and finally had to replace it this year. It is the easiest and best filter I have ever used. Where we live the water is very hard and since we are on a well (no city water for us) it can have some sediment in it. This is the best filter ever. We have tried other filters and styles. From pitcher to faucet mount and none are as good as this 5 stage filter. Now it may be ugly, but we have it in our mud room. We fill up a 5 gallon square water holder, that we found at wal-mart, and keep it in our fridge. This keeps the water cold and easy to access any time. We have puchased some refillable water bottles and keep them in our drinks fridge and keep a few on hand for when we travel or work in the garden. I was so afraid that when our old one finally gave up, that we would have to settle for one of the "replace the filter" weekly, monthy, what ever, kind and finding this squat little gem again was wonderful. We are now going to buy more to give to our friends and family that are still wasting money on "bottled" water. Nobody can believe that such good tasting water can be so easy and inexpensive. The diverter has NEVER failed in 6+ years that we had our old one and the new one has the exact same type of diverter. No little "pull button" that quits after a short time, this has a true + type diverter. A handle that you turn sideways to make a + sign to divert the water and then turn back to 1 to let the tap water run. It is large enough that anybody can use it. Even with our hard water it has never frozen or broke. The spigot at the top is tall enough that you can place almost any size continer under it to fill. We keep it at the edge of the sink so you can fill as tall or deep a container as you need. Try it and you will love the ease and convience of setting it on the counter and forgetting about it for the next 5 years. No maintence is necessary. No changing filters, no calling for refills. What you see is what you get. It may not be beautiful, but it works beautifully.

BISSELL ProHeat 2X Select Pet Upright Deep Cleaner Save 35% Off

BISSELL ProHeat 2X Select Pet Upright Deep Cleaner, 94003We bought this model at a local retail store last weekend. I had used a different model of the same brand previously (borrowed from in-laws). I have used it once, on my entire living room--a cream colored cheap wall-to-wall carpet laid down about 3 years ago by the previous owners. Probably artificial fibers. Just saying.

The carpet was getting spotty. We have a cat who has hairballs regularly and two four-year-olds. The cream colored carpet was showing spots around the kids computer, both couches, and the high-traffic areas at each doorway. We had some washable-marker marks here and there, and one sticky place. We live in the south so we had red clay marks, too.

I assembled the machine--had to get a long, thin screwdriver from the garage because the kind with the changeable tips is too fat for the holes in the upper handle. Assembly was easy, but I was left with an extra wand that had no home. Ours came with a small, medium, and large unpowered wand plus a powered wand and a crevice tool. At this point I was thinking that all the unpowered wands were kind of redundant.

I filled the machine with hot water and the ''fiber cleansing'' solution my husband picked up because he didn''t realize there were two bottles of solution inside the box. Not a big deal, we''ll use it all, I''m sure. The soap tank was a bit leaky for just a second, so I let it drip til it stopped, then rinsed off the outside.

I grabbed the blue squirt bottle of ''tough stain precleaner'' that came in the box and squirted each little gray, brown, or sticky spot. Didn''t do anything else, just squirted. Gave the gray area near the doors a sort of ''misting'' to get the job started.

I turned the dial on the Bissell to ''normal cleaning'' and started near one door. Wet stroke forward, wet stroke backward, dry stroke forward, dry stroke backward. Had a little trouble with the suction at first, but I later determined this was probably because the machine had tipped while it was on. It makes a pop noise when it loses suction, and you pretty much have to shut the machine off and turn it back on to ''reset''. A few places in the carpet needed an extra going over with the wet/dry strokes to get the spots up.

After just a couple of strokes, the machine started spitting out little ''hairballs'' that were gray--presumably cat hair and carpet fiber wads. I had read about these in the manual and so was not alarmed. I decided to let them go and after the carpet dried I''d get them with the dry vac.

About half-way through the room (13x18, roughly) it was time to dump the dirty water and refill. The water was like diluted hot chocolate in color, and had hairballs in it. Removing and replacing the tank is quite easy. Originally I was thinking I had to lay down the handle to get at the connections, but this is not true--the machine can be standing up and you can still get the water tank out. Not sure about the soap tank, though.

Note that while cleaning, you''re dripping on the back stroke. So you start at one end of the room and work *backwards* to the other end, not forwards. Probably a no-brainer, but there you go. I tried using one of the unpowered wands for a spot under the kids desk, and it did OK but didn''t really wow me. It was nice to have the trigger right there on the wand to be able to squirt soap at the spot, and the wand did fine at pulling the water back out. Didn''t try the powered wand for it--I just went over it again with the big machine and the spot was completely gone. I''ll try the powered wand another time.

Back in action, I finished up the room with no other highlights. I chose not to use the ''rinse'' cycle on the machine at all, I guess I''m testing the anti-resoiling agent in the soap. :) I didn''t really want to spend the time going over every inch of carpet twice.

When finished, I put down a couple of clean towels to walk on since we can''t avoid using the room. The carpet itself was dried within a couple of hours--even the bit at the start where I was having trouble with suction.

Once dry, I have to say the carpet looks great. There might be one or two places where the spots wouldn''t come out--but they have been cleaned at least 3 times now with three different machines and have persisted through all of them. Anyway, I do notice that the carpet nap is starting to look a little worn--it''s cheap carpet. I haven''t been back over it yet with the dry vac to get the hairballs up, that might change the appearance.

Husband said the smell of the soap was pretty much gone once the carpet dried, so it didn''t leave a heavy stink of ''just washed the carpets'' behind. The soap smell was itself reasonably pleasant and not overpowering even when wet.

So on to disassembly and cleaning. Emptying the dirty water was again no big deal. I rinsed out the tank afterward to get the hairballs out and keep it from getting stinky (why leave microban a big job, after all). I left the remaining soap in the soap tank for the next time. Since the shields over the nozzles and brushes are clear, you can see how scummy they get after just one use, so I grabbed my screwdriver again and popped off the clear shields (one screw for the front ''suck'' piece, and two screws each for the side ''edge cleaner'' areas) to rinse them out. The brushes themselves were exposed at that point and I could see the surfaces behind them were scummy but I didn''t feel like removing the brushes so I just wiped with a rag to get the scum out of the places I could reach. At this point the vac is lying on its back in the kitchen, in the way. But one more wipe of the sole plate (where the dirty drips come from) and reapplying screws and shields and it all went back together easily. It took about another five mins or so to clean the machine after use. Then I grabbed a clean rag and the reassembled machine and moved it to its storage home. Since it''s sitting on the carpet, I put the clean rag down first, then the machine on the rag to catch any drips I might have missed.

I am very pleased with how the machine performed. It made a dirty carpet look clean again, which is exactly what I wanted. It was relatively easy to use and clean (might tape a screwdriver to the machine just to have one handy) and it did a great job.

If I were going to improve the machine, I''d make those clear shields use a fastener other than a screw so they could pop off by hand. I''d maybe add one more fastener for that spare wand. I might include a plastic tray to sit the thing on when it''s not in use. I might try to work on that suction pop noise thing to make it clearer that you need to stop and fix something before you squirt more soap down. I might also leave off all the marvelous stickers identifying special features. Not needed, and they get in the way of seeing what the machine is doing. And if I were really working hard to improve, I''d have a ''self propelled'' motor to assist the user to move the machine at the proper speed (slow) and with the proper contact between machine and floor (to improve suction).

I hope the machine will last for the amount of time we intend to keep this carpet. Other reviews make me wonder if my satisfaction will last, since it seems other people have a lot of trouble with their machines, regardless of brand and model. I hope to update this review again later, after a few more uses.

-----edited Nov 30 2009

After using the machine several more times, I am still pleased. It''s kept the carpet looking pretty good, and sometimes I''m able to get up spots using only the warm water without soap. That''s nice. I haven''t used up all the carpet soap that came with the machine (and that we bought by mistake). The cat was quite ill over the summer and kept throwing up all over the carpet, everywhere..and you really can''t tell at all. Likewise the kids have repeatedly gone after the carpet with washable markers and crayons, and those marks are gone as well. Red clay marks gone. There are some shadowy gray areas at the main entrance/exit to the room that the shampooer doesn''t seem to be able to help, I guess the carpet is just showing its age.

I have taped a gallon zip bag to the front of the machine, in which I have the manual and the screwdriver I mentioned earlier. Very handy. I''ve used the powered wand a few times now, and I like that much better than the unpowered ones. Agitation really helps get the gunk out.

I like using this machine better than my Spotlifter now, it does a better job. I do tend to ''save up'' spots so I can run the machine for long enough to make it feel ''worthwhile'', but it even gets up the old spots.

Anyway, I''m pleased with the machine, it does what I wanted it to do. After months, it doesn''t stink (I still rinse it out after each use), and it hasn''t made anything scummy while it sits waiting for the next use.

I''ve owned three of these Bissell models over the past four years.

The first (2006) lasted nearly 18 months and about as many carpet cleanings. Eventually the spray system broke. Since it was out of warranty it was not worth getting fixed.

The second (2008) lasted 13 months. Same story, the spray system broke.

The third, this year, last 4 months and 3 carpet cleanings. Under warranty I called Bissell, got the names of two service centers but when I called them they both told me the same thing: Bissell was not going to warrant the spray system unless it was a manufacturer''s defect.

Being prudent, I called Bissell and went through a 30 trouble shooting session over the phone. It was grueling. Check this gasket, that gasket, take out the spray nozzles, get an old toothbrush and clean the sprayer, try the hose, re-seat the water tank, re-seat the soap tank, try the hose again, chew some gum, run the machine for a minute, walk on the ceiling for 30 seconds, run the machine and press the spray button for two minutes, check the hose without the attachment, spin your partner loop-de-lou, stretch the hose out, look out the window and wait for a police car to go by, run the machine and try the spray....

When I questioned the Bissell customer service person about the two service centers reporting that the spray system was probably not going to be covered by the warranty, because Bissell apparently doesn''t believe spray problems are a manufacturer''s defect, they stuck to the company line: we will fix a manufacturer''s defect. How about a return? That''s up to the store where you purchased it.

Here''s my take: I expect a $200 carpet cleaner to work. I expect to fill it with water, put the tank on, fill it with soap, put the tank on, turn on the switch and clean carpet. My position is that all the trouble shooting Bissell made me go through was just to make up for bad design, bad engineering, poor quality parts, etc. This model of machine has a serious spray system issue. It obviously has several points where it fails and Bissell seems to believe it is your problem not theirs.

Don''t buy this product, the spray system may last 2 years or 4 months, just to get it work is a problem even if the pump is still working, but no matter what Bissell''s support system isn''t there for you.

Luckily for me, a brought this product at Costco and they took it back and gave me a full refund.

Though I''m not sure carpet cleaners from other manufacturer''s are any better, I know the Bissell is not an option.

Personally, I would pay more for a longer lasting quality product if and when I can find one. I think we need to stop sourcing these products from China.

My wife and I have two dogs, a 2 year old child and the cheap white/beige colored carpet that I''m sure everyone has seen before. It came with our house when we bought it. We have been living here for 3 years and you don''t realize how dirty your carpets actually get until you clean them. It came to a point where I could not stand to be in my house because the carpets got so bad. As if the dogs weren''t enough, my daughter spilled liquid bubbles everywhere and dirt attaches to the fluid like a magnet. We bought this bissell a week ago and finally finished using it this past weekend. I''m very happy with the results. My carpet looks A LOT better!!

Pros:

It is very easy to use after you understand how to use it.

If you compare, side by side, the section you cleaned next to an area you didn''t get to yet you will notice that it does a really good job.

The carpets barely get wet and dry incredibly fast for that reason.

Cons:

You really need to understand how to use this before you try for the first time. For example, you need to make sure you change the water before you use it all. If not, it will start to use all of the cleaning solution and it wastes it. The solution isn''t cheap so you want to avoid this from happening. (we did find deals online for larger bottles which make this cost more upfront but over the course of using this it will save you quite a bit)

You go through more solution than I would like and you have to change the water fairly often (it isn''t hard to change though).

If you have pets, their hair will clump up and lay on the carpet after you''ve cleaned it. Honestly, after the carpets dry I walked around and picked up maybe 5 or 6 quarter sized clumbs and that was it. I didn''t even need to vacuum after.

The bottom line is that this machine does a really good job after you learn how to use it well. It has it''s pros and cons but what machine doesnt? If you think it''s going to magically make your carpets brand new again you are naive, but if you are looking for something easy to use, fairly inexpensive to buy and something that makes your carpet look a lot better than they did, then this is the machine to get. My wife and I are certainly happy we bought it!

I did a lot of research before purchasing this item, and I''m very pleased with it. It is easy to use and did a good job getting out some pet stains that my spot cleaning couldn''t get rid of. I''ve already used it 3 or 4 times because I have major dog/child traffic. Using it and even cleaning it up afterwards isn''t much more work than using a vacuum.

After owning this for less than a year during which time the main reservoir broke twice within the first month of ownership and was replaced by Bissell...and after using it a total of four times on an 8''x12'' rug and three times for a 12.5''x16'' room that is 70% covered by furniture the brushes have stopped rotating and the cleaner has simultaneously stopped vacuuming up wastewater.

I cannot use publicly-acceptable language to express how angry and frustrated I am with this garbage. Bissell''s "Customer Support" is a total joke as is the phony "Warranty." If something breaks they demand that YOU prove it was defective and refuse to offer any solution "...unless you can prove that the part in question was the result of defective design." So you have to hire an engineering consulting firm and litigate (at your own expense, of course) to prove they screwed up the design to get warranty support?!?

Looking at the other reviews it almost seems like a class-action lawsuit against Bissell for manufacturing, selling, and continuing to manufacture a device they MUST know to be complete junk would be in order. Amazon should remove this from their sales lists.

Shop-Vac 5861600 16-Gallon 6.5-Peak HP Quiet Deluxe Wet/Dry Vacuum Save 36% Off

Shop-Vac 5861600 16-Gallon 6.5-Peak HP Quiet Deluxe Wet/Dry Vacuum
  • Accessories Included: 8-Foot x 2 1/2-Inch Hose, (2) 2 1/2-Inch Extension Wands, 8-Inch Utility Nozzle, 14-Inch Floor Nozzle w/Brush, Crevice Tool, Tool Holder, Cartridge Filter
  • 3 Year Warranty
  • 18-Foot Power Cord
  • Rear Blower Port
  • Extra Large Tank Drain

I purchased this vacuum because a 6.5 HP motor seems to be as big as you can get without jumping into the industrial line of vacuums. I wanted a big motor for a reasonable price.

Warranty It also has a 3 year warranty, which of course I hope I do not need to use.

Assembly It is easy to put together...about 10-15 minutes. I only needed a flathead screwdriver to mount the wheels.

Blower -The vacuum has a blower feature which you enable by plugging the hose into the exhaust port.

Drain It has a drain for emptying the vacuum after wet pickup. Useful when 16 gallons of liquid is too much to lift.

Noise I can''t tell if this vacuum is "super quiet" as advertised. It seems as loud as any vacuum I have owned. Probably some room for improvement. Without a decibel rating... it all seems relative.

Sucking power this vacuum is powerful. No complaints.

Included Tools everything is plastic and 2 1/2 inches in diameter. The crevice tool is larger than you might think. I think they could have included a round brush tool for the price.

Tool Carriage mounts easily to the back of the vacuum. It is of marginal value. Bad for extension pipes and hoses, good for the crevice tools and gulper tool.

Weight This vacuum weighs 20+ pounds which makes it heavy to many people. There is a handle on top of the unit which you can use to carry it.

Extensibility shop vac makes some additional products such as a gutter leaf blower attachment, a dust collection system, and drywall sanding screen/collection system all of which give this product some growth potential.

Filters This one uses the round cartridge as shown but can also accomodate bags for drywall dust or fine dust. I like the one piece design as opposed to the sponge, o-ring, filter design used in other models.

Cord 18 ft. cord is nice.

Areas for improvement add some extra tools (brush head and/or small crevice tool), give a 5 year warranty, reduce the noise further, add a crush proof hose, add a tote bag for the tools as opposed to the on board carrier.

I bought this so I could do light shop duty, but mostly to use instead of my dyson for car cleaning. The dyson is really hard to use to clean cars with it''s ridged short hose.

I was worried it wouldnt provide as much suction power as the dyson, but it seems to keep up fine for the car application. I purchased a car set Snap-on 93078 Car Cleaning Kit to assist with the cleaning. I am now able to get in between the seat and behind the pedals where I couldn''t before, and it is much more comfortable to use to clean.

The vac is easy to tote around on the wheels that come with it, and its fairly light. The suction power works great and can clean anything I put in front of it (NOTE: I havent used it on any liquid yet). Other people have complained about the big airvent in the back, but I think it is a nice addition. I use it to blow off computer stuff instead of using canned air and it works great. I have only used it outside so I havent noticed it blowing dirt everywhere.

I wish it came with a few more attachments, but the general purpose ones that come with it seem to work fine. The cord is a bit short, but its easy enough to add an extension cord to so you dont always have to have a super long cord.

I would recommend this vac for anyone looking for light duty shop and car cleaning.

I''ve used this for cleaning out my basement (lots of dry stuff). I''ve used this for cleaning out the pool where my water fountain sits and it does a nice job. What I wish I had was an attachment to the drain so I could just let the water run through the vac and out a hose into the alley. As it is, I have to stop after it fills, take off the top, remove the vac hose, roll it down a sidewalk and out to the alley and then dump it. I''ve searched on-line for a drain hose, but can''t find one. If anyone can direct me to someone who sells these things, would be much appreciated.

Just got one of these because the wal mart specials just didnt do it. The 2 1/2 inch wide hose will pick up just about anything, and this thing can really clean. It would be nice to have a few more attachments.

10" Beer Filtration Kit

10'' Beer Filtration KitI use this filter with a carbon filter for water flltration so I can brew with my tap water and bought cheap 5 and 1 micron filters for filtering the beer. It is beeing hooked up between two kegs (out and out pole) and one keg is left open, the other closed and some pressure (0.5 psi does it) applied. Beer then flows through the filter and comes out clear on the other side. I use the 1 micron filter for Pilsener and other beer that needs to be crystal clear, the 5 micron filter for the rest. When I got two kegs for filtering, I use the same filter, but discharge it after one use. The filters are pretty cheap (about $2) at

Ultimately, you may be able to get almost the same clarity out of your beer in other ways, but for me, as I move my fermenting bottles around before kegging and always get movement in the sediment, this is the best solution.

Happy brewing!

The unit works great with a little common sense. Both pin lock and ball lock fittings are 1/4 inch (as is the draw tube in the keg) so having a larger hose would be useless. Since the fittings seal when disconnected it is possible to purge all the air out of the filter unit with Co2 before filtering. I hook up the entire system an purge both kegs and the filter before putting beer in the system. I do not believe this setup would work with gravity alone. I filtered an amber ale with a 5 micron filter and it came out very clear. With the 5 micron filter I was able to filter 5 gallons in about 45 minutes with 5 psi (the batch had a lot of thrub hence the high pressure).

I would recommend this for the home brewer with a little experience.

The only bummer about this unit is that I use pin lock fittings and this uses ball lock (easy to change just had to purchase some fittings separately).

P.S. leaving feedback without actually using the item is pretty rude.

I normally use a plate filter (with the coarse filter pads) to filter my home brew. I bought this since it looks much easier to set up and use than the plate filter (which it is). I was a little disappointed with the results though. It really didn''t do a good job at all. Reading another review, I wonder if I pushed the beer through the 5 micron filter at too high a pressure (about 10 15 psi). So the jury is still out until I use it again this time with a finer filter.

Also, for an experienced home brewer, the hook up is intuitive, but for a inexperienced home brewer who is filtering for the first time, perhaps including some instructions would be helpful. For example, I know to leave the lid loose or off of the receiving keg, but a first time user may not. And guidance on the appropriate pressure would be helpful too!

I purchased this to filter a batch of cloudy stout that I had made. Apparently the particles in the stout were too small to filter. But on a second use with a light beer it filtered out a large amount of sediment at 5 micron. I didn''t bother to continue to 1 micron that time because it''s a wheat beer which is supposed to be cloudy and I didn''t want to waster a filter cartridge. over all I like this filter for occasional use, but I don''t use it each time. Do your clarification with gelatin etc and save the filter to fix those batches that just need it.

My hubby usually has this filter replaced with our semi annual air / heat inspection. They charge us for the service call which also includes their much needed expertise of course. But they charge us $45 for the replacement filter! I ordered this one, and he put it in himself before the inspection and it saved us a lot of money in their mark-up. Neither one of us are handy, so if we can replace it, anyone can. This was a good value for us.

It''s working right now, looks good, sounds pretty good too. I play with the h20 landing, more rocks etc. so it sounds louder. Just what I needed for peace.

For the money, its worth it. Our waterfall / pond is about 14 by 20, so we needed a bigger liner. But for the money, it was worth it to get this system and a $165 liner, or else you would be spending a lot more to piece it all together.

This is a video of the pump being turned on and running, with the waterfall about 90% complete. We added the remote electric box under the deck so the pump runs on a remote we can turn on and off from the house.

The filter seems to work good, I got a large 5'' sheet of filter material off Amazon and just cut the pieces I need. I was not able to find the exact filter on line to buy.

You will need to buy lava rocks from Depot or Lowes in the BBQ section to go in the bag to hold down the filter in the weir.

As you can see we are only going up about 4'' and the pump can handle a LOT higher then that, but its a nice pressure as we have it split 3 directions when it exits the weir.

The only problem I have is when we run this, for a few hours, we seem to loose water somehow but can not locate and leaks or leaking out the weir anywhere. But I guess its good to add fresh water anyway so I can live with it, and so can the frog that lives there too now.

Enviromate E20 Steam Cleaning System Save $0.99 Off

Enviromate E20 Steam Cleaning SystemOrdered this steam cleaner shortly after I got my 12 week old puppy who is in the process of being pottytrained. I have used it on my carpet to get puppy stains.odors out and they disappeared immediately! Now I find myself cleaning everything in sight and I do not know how I ever lived without this cleaner. My house smells fresh without the use of chemicals and it has taken in some instances 21 years worth of grime off in a matter of seconds!! Try it and see for yourself.

I bought a Fogacci Topline around 2006. It worked great for about a year and a half then it quit working. After that, every time I turned around it was in the shop for repairs. The repairs were never cheap, always around $80. The last time the machine was basically rebuilt which cost about $225 and several visits, under a year quit working again. I decided I had put enough money into this machine and decided to try GO E20 Home Steam Cleaner. Although the machine is only a month old the things that are better about this machine than the Fogacci are 1. it heats faster 2. rolls better with the larger wheels 3. electrical cord doesn''t get tangled in the machine as easily when pulling 4. the way the hose attaches to the machine it doesn''t pull out like it did on the Fogacci 5. the warranty is longer 5 years versus 2 years (for the time I bought mine. The only con is you need to order some of the extra attachments like a brass nozzle to clean your grill, but frankly with all the pluses I can deal with that. It is a lot of money for a machine but I clean my own grout with this machine and it looks brand new after being in my house for 12 years. My understanding it cost over a thousand to get it professionally done.

I''m one of those weird people that likes to clean floors and I''ve been on a mission my entire adult life looking for the best cleaning products. Although not perfect, this is the best I''ve found so far. Before purchasing the Enviromate, I also rented a Lady Bug. Here are my likes/dislikes.

Pluses

* Amazing deep clean. What the these vapor cleaners do to grout is spectacular.

* Versatile. Not just floors, but bathrooms, and even our pool tile.

* Goes a long time on one tank. You can only handle so much use/cleaning and I''ve found that the Enviromate goes long enough to warrant a break. The Lady Bug I rented had the option to fill without depressurizing, which this one does not. I was concerned and almost went with the higher model, but I''m glad I didn''t. It does not take long to de-pressure/refill and the Lady Bug required filling more often (had a smaller tank).

* Great attachments. What is provided is all that''s required for normal household cleaning.

* The cloth grips on the attachment are great. I found them to hold better than the Lady Bug.

* Quality build. Overall, similar build quality to the Lady Bug, but the hose has a much higher quality feel to it.

Minuses

* I wish the cord was a tad bit longer and had a better way to store it (I don''t find it wraps very well).

* I wish it came with one more extension. I''m 6'' and the max length of the wand is borderline uncomfortable. The higher model does come with the extension, I believe.

Ordered this unit (Reliable Corporation''s Enviromate E20) directly from the company, and it arrived USED, and with lots of water from a previous use still inside the unit. I phoned the company on the same day that I received the unit, and they immediately offered me a 5% discount. Note, that the company penalizes customers with a 20% restocking fee plus hefty shipment charges (the company is in Canada) for returning a slightly used unit. In any case, I wasn''t interested because I wanted, and had paid for, a new unit. Furthermore, the unit they sent me had been used for a period of time, because there were heavy water deposits already under the boiler cap. They had greased the extension tubes prior to shipment, because apparently they did not fit together properly and would leak water. I have filed a complaint with Canada''s BBB, and still (over two weeks later), I have not received any reimbursement at all for the unit. Finally, I discovered that all warranty repairs need to be shipped to the company''s headquarters in Toronto, Canada at the customer''s expense, and you are required to ship without insurance. The customer is responsible for damages that might occur during shipping. I have read reviews that after much time passes, broken units are returned to customers still broken, which is another reason I refused to accept a used unit.

  • Certified to ensure high quality

I realize not everyone out there owns an RO (reverse osmosis) system and perhaps even fewer have one connected to their refrigerator. But if you do, you may want to consider this...

We''ve owned an RO system since 1994, in fact we still have it. During that time we connected it to our old Maytag refrigerator''s ice maker and water dispenser. Neither worked reliably or well. When the ice maker wasn''t literally shooting ice cubes horizontally out the cup, it would continually freeze and malfunction (as ice makers do).

Due to abnormally high frequency of repairs the only redeeming value we derived from the parade of service technicians was the opportunity to pick their brains. Time after time, each confirmed why the door mounted water dispenser was so agonizingly slow delivering water. It was primarily due to the reduced pressure from the RO system. Since the storage tank bladder and pressure were operating within spec this made sense.

While having an RO system does provide a cleaner (no minerals) source of water, the downside is low water pressure plays havoc with ice-makers creating "ice dams" that block the H2O feeder tube. The internal ice-maker switch depends on a minimum amount of water pressure to engage. RO system pressure is typically around 7 PSI which dramatically less than city water pressure (about 30-60 PSI depending where you live). Inevitably the refrigerator water line (necessary for ice making) will freeze-up disabling the ice-maker and significantly reduce flow through the door H2O dispenser.

Just about every refrigerator manufacturer recognizes this issue and addresses it within their respective owners manual. Our new Samsung is no exception. In fact, after contacting them and they highly recommend installing a water booster pump specifically for the reasons mentioned above.

So after doing some research I found this Premier model on Amazon (coincidentally from the same manufacturer of our RO system) and ordered it for less than Premier''s own website price.

Since I installed it the same time we received our new Samsung I can''t definitively state any measurable improvement. But compared with the previous Maytag, water flow is noticeably faster and dispensing pressure is higher (based on observation with pump turned on and off). I realize it may be too soon to report (almost 2 months) but best of all we haven''t experienced any ice issues. While I can''t unequivocally state this pump is making all the difference, I do feel confident it is helping prevent any recurrence of similar ice-maker issues... so far, so good.

If you''ve ever replaced your RO system filters, have experience with basic tools (semi-skilled with home repairs) you can easily install this. If not, it shouldn''t cost much to have someone do it, I was able to install ours in about 20 minutes. After depressurizing the RO system (same as during a filter change); mount the pump vertically to any wall (under the sink); splice one RO water line; re-pressurize the system; plug the pump into a standard 120VAC outlet (typically available under most sinks for dishwashers and disposals) and your good to go.

As for the pump, it operates automatically (on-demand) and is exceptionally quiet, we never notice it working...

Works great, very quite and a must for ice maker/water dispenser. Before installing ice cubes were very small and only a trickle of water came out of the water dispenser. After installation found the pressure somewhat better but still not as good as before installing the RO system. Found specs on the pressure switch that comes with the pump and was able to adjust the pressure setting, which improved the water pressure to pre-RO.

The pressure switch is marked 40psi but the manufacture said the range is 40-60psi. There is a small Allen screw on the switch and by screwing it in you can increase the pressure at which the pump shuts down.

The only reason I bought this booster pump was low pressure(20-30 psi) of tap water in my apartment building. Respectively, RO system did not work properly or stopped completely at times and tank was almost empty. It forced me to replace my 2 stage sediment filter prematurely to somehow increase water flow but did not fix the problem.

After installation (1 page instruction with diagram was clear for the job)some real revolution did happen !

My tank fills out fast and is almost full, shutoff switch maintains pressure about 40 psi in the tank and I see pressure 80-90 psi before membrane while booster is operating.I do not remember so good water stream from my RO faucet. If I don''t take water after automatic power shut off, the booster will not start for hours. It is quiet if you secure plastic tubing properly otherwise it does generate some noise because pump''s vibration transmits to tubing however pump itself is very quiet.Overall, positive result is obvious. I just have to admit some RO systems on market already include booster pump for the price just 2 times more than this booster itself.

I gave it 4 stars only because it was a bit expensive..... It was a lot by the time I paid for both ( the pump and reverse osmosis).

Holmes S1708 Humidifier Bacteriostat Save 18% Off

Holmes S1708PDQ-U Humidifier BacteriostatFor several years we have used a large humidifier during the winter months. Despite frequent cleaning and care, we had to replace the humidifier filters every few weeks. We started using the Holmes Bacteriostat last winter and only had to replace the filter a single time, three-quarters of the way through the winter.

Follow the directions on the bottle and not only save money by not having to replace the humidifier filters as often, but it can also save you from breathing mold spores growing on an untreated filter (before the filter even looks like it needs changing).

From the bottle''s label:

Holmes

Humidifier Water Treatment

Model S1705

* Prolongs the life of wick filters and warm mist heating systems

* Helps prevent lime and scale build-up

* Provides easier cleaning

My motivation for buying the Treatment was to increase the lifespan of the wick. I was only getting a few months life from a wick, using about two per winter. Using the Treatment, one wick is lasting more than one winter.

And the bottle lasts more than a winter, so it''s worth it.

I hate to recommend W*lmart, but I bought my last bottle there for less than $2. That was still during the end of the humidifying season. Guess I should have bought two. I also bought their last half-dozen HM3600 humidifier wicks for $2 each (in July), when you couldn''t find them for less than $12 anywhere on eBay.

I''ll need another year to determine just how much longer the wicks are lasting, now that I''m on the Treatment. I just checked my wick. I think I used it for almost all last winter. It''s just a little soft all over, but no serious deterioration. And no smell, just in case you''re counting.

The instructions recommend adding a capful with every 3 gallons of water -as a start -and then after a while, you''re supposed to determine whether your water needs more or less. I used a little less, and it still did the trick for my wick, apparently. My water is very soft. The instructions say harder water will require more Treatment. Granted, that''s not a lot of guidance.

I didn''t know if it''s allowed to combine bactericide with the Treatment, so I didn''t. Between the Treatment and being careful not to allow the humidifier to sit with water if it was turned off, the water never got smelly.

Buy Holmes S1708 Humidifier Bacteriostat Now

Before we tried the S1708 in our humidifier MA0800, we had to replace the filter about once per month. I would buy a case of 6 filters for over $60 each winter season. Since our baby was born we have decided to leave the humidifier running year round. I have used a bottle of this and am now ordering another and have only used 2 filters this entire year. I went to change it like normal, but the filter was like new. The only time I''ve had to change the filter is when we left it off for a few weeks with water in the tank.

Great product that saves me money. Thanks Holmes!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

We could not find this item anywhere then i looked on amazon.com and here it was. You have to use antibacterial even when you get a ball with the machine that is said to do the job.

I love this product. I like the larger bottles and it really makes our room clean smelling not musty and molded. Our maching stays super clean and free of all bacteria and molds using this. I would not be without it.

If you are using a humidifier and they say you do not need to add chemical, wrong. Buy this and you will see the difference and how clean your machine and air stays.

Ordered for one-day delivery and received in one day. Thank you.

But.

Sight glass wrapped in paper and zipped in Baggie. Ok. But in same shipping box with PF-4 heavy filters. With a single sheet of brown paper crumpled in shipping box to cushion between the two.

Arrived undamaged but buggers if I can figure out how it survived tumbling with the filters!

Also one black flexible washer ok and one rigid white plastic with green felt? On the other side not ok. Put black washer inside and plastic washer outside. Spigot leaked in a steady stream. Sigh.

Took white flexible cone washer from original spigot that came with Big Berkey and replaced the plastic one. Spigot now does not leak.

I suggest you take the white/green plastic washer that comes with the sight glass and bite it, hammer it, fling it, anything just anything but put it on your spigot assembly.

Sight glass is great and I feel essential to the Big Berkey. Except for that cursed plastic washer.

I ordered the Big Berkey and then added this. Unless you have xray vision this beats lifting the top off to see what''s going on in the bottom. The the threaded nipple is way too short for the money, the nut barely fits on and I can see the possibility of stripping the threads. The stock tap has a nipple almost 1/2" longer. The upside is it has seemingly a better valve with definitely a better flow rate. Two thumbs up there! Cheers, Al

I remember that with the original spigot, flow was slow because it was so small. This is way bigger, even when it''s the size specified for your particular Berkey (mine is the Big one). There are fewer issues with leakage than with the original spigot. Just be sure not to tighten the nut too much or too far along the bolt, because the washer will get completely squeezed out of place. I guess if I could offer advice, I''d say once contact is made, tighten until you see the washer move and then unscrew a couple turns until it''s back to normal (you have to overtighten a bit in order to see what''s correct). Also, the internal thread of this spigot is much, much shorter than the original, which worried me at first, but once everything is in place, just don''t worry. The plastic is strong, and the sight glass itself is made of steel and glass, very good quality.

So, flow is much faster and it''s convenient not to have to lift the top reservoir to check water levels in the bottom reservoir every few hours.

Interestingly, the top of the sight glass is open, so that if you have a full bottom reservoir, a little water spurts out the top of the glass. It only happened once when I plopped the top down too hard. (At the beginning I used to compare the sight glass reading with the actual water levels, but have since stopped disturbing everything to check.)

Another great Berkey investment. As I said in my review for the Big Berkey, it was the best $300 I''ve ever spent.

Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG2 Single Serve Coffee Brewer Save 12% Off

Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG2-001 Single Serve Coffee Maker, SilverI bought this single serve brewer at a local department store before realizing that Amazon carried it. Anyway, like most Keurig licensed machines, the Mr. Coffee version produces a fine cup of coffee at $25 less than the similar Keurig brand brewer. In addition, the Mr. Coffee appears to be better constructed than the Keurig Mini Brewing System. The only "con" is that the Mr. Coffee produces only a 8 ounce cup of coffee while the Keurig Mini produces 8 & 10 ounce cups. You can get almost 9 ounces, but you risk a little water going into the overflow reservoir. Nonetheless, I am very happy with my Mr. Coffee. Incidentally, this model BVMC-KG2-001 is the successor to the Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG1-001.

I purchased this machine after having used a friend''s Keurig on a few visits out of town. I really loved the convenience but was put off by the poor reviews of most of the Keurig machines, and the size of them. I decided this smaller machine (which is still a bit bigger than my 1-4 cup Mr Coffee machine) was the best bet for me.

Here are some things to think about when purchasing this machine:

No water reservoir fine for me as I was used to pouring water into a regular coffee machine every day and I am the only user of the machine, but for maximum time saving and multiple users, one might be better off choosing a model that has a reservoir.

Water temperature at first I thought it wasn''t hot enough, but then I remembered that I had always nuked my coffee after pouring it from the pot before. For very hot coffee, I would still need to do that, but the temp it comes out at is fine for me. I usually finish within 15 minutes, and it is still warm by the time I''m done.

Dispensing size There is an 8oz mark, and there is a Max mark in the water tank. Max is a little over 9 oz, which is what I always use. If you pour more that that in, the excess will drain into the drip tray before brewing. When testing, I used 10 oz (over the Max line) and got less than an ounce in the drip tray.

Coffee strength this is related to the dispensing size and is the biggest limitation for me. I like weak coffee. I have tried 6 different k-cups so far and found that using the max water amount wasn''t quite enough water for 3 of the k-cups I''ve tried (I''m cycling through a variety pack of 12). I haven''t tried the bold flavored ones yet. For this fact alone, it would be better to have a machine that dispensed more water, but once I settle on some flavors I will buy going forward, I''m sure they won''t be the bold ones.

Mug size there is a removable drip tray so you can fit a travel mug, but after taking it out my 16oz travel mugs are still too tall for it.

Reusable filters I purchased the Ekobrew filter and tried my own coffee in it when I wanted some decaf last night. It worked great.

If you really want all the bells and whistles and maximum time saving, I suggest getting one the more full featured models. I''ve had this machine a week and I''m really satisfied with it, especially for the price, which was ~ $72 when I purchased. If I find that I want to upgrade in the future, I will take this one to work.

Also, I think there are models with cup sensors. I haven''t made this mistake yet, but I have a feeling that one day I might brew some coffee and forget to put the mug underneath.

**6 week update** I am really very happy with this coffee maker and so glad I purchased it. I did notice a problem a few times where the water didn''t brew, it just went right into my mug cold. What happened is that I got things out of order. Water goes in first, then the Kcup. If you start messing with the order, this machine will let you know it doesn''t like that.

Buy Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG2 Single Serve Coffee Brewer Now

This was my first Keurig coffee brewer, and it worked exceedingly well. The design and construction are both good and it never gave me a moment''s trouble. If you are looking to produce a reasonably good cup of coffee really fast and with no fuss, I think you''ll be pleased with the purchase. That said, I have stopped using this machine after one month and now make coffee using another method. Let me explain why because there are some limitations to the Keurig method of which you should be aware.

The chief selling points of the Keurig method are speed and convenience, but the method''s speed is, in fact, an Achilles heel. The hot water comes into contact with the coffee for a maximum of 30 seconds, and that simply isn''t long enough to produce the rich mouthfeel and complex flavors of slower methods such as a French press or a Chemex, both of which allow the coffee flavors to be extracted over three to four minutes. (Espresso coffee tastes great despite its short contact time because of the extremely high pressures and very fine grind, neither of which are present in the Keurig method.) The first K-cups I used were the Folgers "Lively Colombian," and I don''t think I have ever tasted a thinner, more flavorless cup of joe in my life. On a scale of 1 to 10, I''d give the coffee those pods produced a 3. Things improved markedly when I used Green Mountain Coffee Roasters "Nantucket Blend" and "Dark Magic," both of which I''d rate a 7, and which I recommend.

The experience left me reconsidering what it was that I wanted out of coffee and I decided that, for me, taste was more important than speed and convenience. I have since replaced my Mr. Coffee Single Serve unit with a Kyocera Ceramic Coffee Grinder ($41.70), a Bodum Bistro 17-Ounce Mini Cordless Electric Water Kettle ($29.95), and a 3-Cup Chemex Glass Coffeemaker with Handle ($33.15). My new morning coffee ritual takes under ten minutes all told, from the grinding of the whole beans to the brewing of the coffee to the poured cup, and it allows me to start my day with a cup of coffee that rates a solid 10, with flavors a Keurig-method machine can only dream of. The entire setup cost me under $105 (not including shipping), and I am definitely saving money over time by avoiding the pricey K-cups.

Bottom Line: With the right K-cups, this Mr. Coffee unit does an excellent job of producing good coffee. If speed and convenience are your top concerns, you''ll probably be very happy with it. Just understand going into this that the speed and convenience come at a bit of a price in terms of the quality of the coffee produced. If you want excellent coffee--cups that rate a 9 or 10--you may want to look into other methods, such as Aeropress, Chemex, or French press.

I''m a coffee snob, but at work I really don''t have time to brew the perfect cup. The K-cup system seemed to offer a good compromise. I could have hot coffee at the touch of a button. Keurig has dialed in reasonable grinds, brewing times, and water temperature (all variables that can make or break a cup of coffee). The brewing process seems to take a couple of minutes (heating time for the most part) and the pump is not "whisper quiet," but it does not disturb me when I''m sitting three feet away and having a conversation (I''m a little hard of hearing, too). This isn''t gourmet coffee, but it''s pretty darn good when I need a reasonably good cup RIGHT NOW.

At least it used to be. I ordered mine on February 18th. I''ve had it at work for almost exactly two weeks. Today it failed. The pump runs. The water heats. But it does not flow through the machine to brew any coffee. Internet searches suggest that it could be scale (but it isn''t, not in two weeks!), a clogged filter between the water reservoir and the pump (since the reservoir isn''t removeable, I have no way of checking--but I brew with filtered water only), or a damaged pump.

It doesn''t really matter what the cause is. I''m not going to take it apart and try to fix it! From the complaints I''ve read, my problem is not uncommon. This model goes back. Since I liked the coffee and it fit into my office life, I''m going to try another version--all the time keeping in mind that pump failure MAY be the bugaboo. On the other hand, a clogged filter can be cleaned with a removeable reservoir model. I will order one of those and cross my fingers.

Most people don''t have a problem, I''m sure. And I''m not going off on the companies involved. Mistakes happen. But I''m willing (at this point) to try again. Go ahead and try getting one of these (or another model, the problem seems common to most Keurig-based machines). Just don''t be too disappointed if you need to return it soon after you get it.

As far as coffee speed and quality of brewing, I''d give the WORKING machine 3 1/2 stars. Since it FAILED, only the single star as a Caveat Emptor device.

ASIN B004T6EK3O Someone put me out of my coffee-addicted misery. Clearly the universe conspires against me.

I bought this model for one reason when I sorted my Amazon results by reviewer ranking, it was number one. I''ve already been through THREE Keurig B-70 B70 Platinum Single-Cup Home Brewing System they had an average lifespan of nine months. Then I went through one Mr. Coffee Single Serve Powered by Keurig Brewing Technology, which lasted a depressing two months. This model, however, has them both beat. ONE WEEK. That''s right seven days. Six days worth of coffee. As of this morning, it grinds and grinds and grinds and then, drip!, a drop of brown water falls into the cup. The grinding sound is so relentless that I''ve been waiting for the thing to explode.

Some quick notes, since "it breaks in a week" is clearly the biggest problem:

The button you press to open the top (where you put the water) is awkward. It opens smoothly and that''s nice, but it doesn''t catch easily when you close it. It''s annoying.

Unlike the Keurigs, but in common with the other Mr. Coffee, this thing has no reservoir. You have to add water every time you want a cup and wait out the heating each time.

Speaking of heating, I hope you have a microwave, because this coffee isn''t hot. I use Coffee-Mate Regular Powdered Coffee Creamer, 16-Ounce Packages (Pack of 12) and this maker always leaves little un-dissolved bits floating in the coffee. Yum.

With no digital screen, it''s possible that this thing gets scale-y fast and you''ll never know. With a regular maker, a routine cleaning schedule might be enough, but with these things, a screen to tell you that it needs de-scaling is almost a necessity.

As with all other k-cup using machines, this makes weak coffee, but only because of the k-cups. Get a Keurig My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter and control the strength for yourself. A little.

Final word One week, for this price? Please. I''m beginning to hear the call from the crummy old ten dollar coffee pots that at least lasted. My last one of those made it eight years!

EDIT, later the same day. I have found a way to get a cup of coffee. Coffee addicts will find ways... The machine has been making an horrific grinding sound and dripping. If I remove the cup of grounds and run JUST water through, it goes through fine. Then I was able to make a cup. So, for whatever reason, the problem seems to be that the water can''t get through the grounds. While this work-around is okay, it shouldn''t be necessary. I''m not asking the thing to push water through a brick wall, it''s loose coffee grounds.

Procter & Gamble Wht 3Stage Filtersystem 515 Ice Maker & End Of Faucet

Procter & Gamble Wht 3Stage Filtersystem 515 Ice Maker & End Of FaucetI had to order this on line and pay more than I should, but local stores (100 miles) refuse to carry the product. They are trying to force other similar items on us. This one makes for a one handed operation while the newer versions require switching hands between turning the water on and then turning the filter on.

This guy leaks. This is my second try with this model, thinking that maybe the first was a fluke. Unfortunately, the second did the exact same thing as the first: started leaking, then spraying water out of a crack that magically appeared in the area of the indicator window.

I do like the filter, the water tastes pretty good and the flow rate is good. It''s just the getting sprayed in the face while using it that bothers me. I will be trying one without the indicator window next, which is unfortunate. It''s a handy feature.

I installed it in the basement below the kitchen sink. Do to the large amount of water that will be spilt when changing the filters, I highly recommend putting any water filter in a location that can get very wet or flooded. Or have a tub under it at all time do to leaks that happens with water filters do to cheap plastic parts. Speaking of which, I have tried several time to stop leaks from the two soft plastic 90 deg fitting. This is the kind of thing I do for a living so rest assure I tried every trick I had to stop the leaks. The fix will be the replacement fitting I ordered.

The metal bracket that you can see that holds all together is very flimsy. When you bump the unit the bracket flexes and bobbles around. This should be about 3 times thicker steel to be allowed on the market. The 1/4" hose provided is a very short peace of scrap hose. I needed to buy more hose along with copper pipe and fitting and a brass bushing...about $50 more. Then do some cutting and soldering of pipes to supply water.

ALL these problems are typical with most systems on the market. All we can do is deal with it and make it better/usable. Otherwise you will need to get a high end commercial or marine grade system. Then again they probably have quirks of there own too.

Pure Guardian H1500 Ultrasonic Midsize Manual Humidifier Save 33% Off

Pure Guardian H1500 Ultrasonic Midsize Manual HumidifierPurchased this for our infant son. We desired both a warm and cool mist option and this allowed us to not purchase two products. The water tank is fairly large and only needs to be refilled once ever 3 days. We run this all night in his nursery so approx. 11 hours at a time. The unit is very quiet and it creates an excellent amount of humidity so much that we have to leave the door partially open or the room becomes steamy. It''s a little pricy for a humidifier but we are pleased with the product. It also contains a night light which we do not use as it is too bright for our liking.

I thought I''d write something after seeing that this device got bad reviews from others. We''ve had ours for the best part of a year and it works fine!

It''s quiet, nicely designed and trouble-free.

Perhaps you guys got a bad batch. Mine is good!

Best, Martin.

We are so pleased with the amount of water this humidifier puts into the air as well as the quiet. We have tried using a crockpot (not enough)as well as a cheap humidifier (noisy). Excellent product and worth every penny!

I''m surprised about the negative reviews. I have had mine for almost 6 months and run it every night. I have done nothing to it yet, except to add water every night ( I should clean it). No white dust neither.

I purchased two of these humidifiers about a year ago. I run them each every night and they both work well. Humidifier is quiet and produces a good amount of mist for a bedroom. The difference in the room with and without the humidifier is easily notable. Tank is large enough to easily run the humidifier for 12 hours.
