Proctor Silex K2070Y 1 Liter Electric Kettle Save 6% Off

Proctor Silex K2070Y 1 Liter Electric KettleThis Electric Kettle is quite simple without any frills. For the price, it does what it claims to do. It boils water quickly , the water level is easy to see and has the auto-shut off feature. I have used it reliably to boil water for tea, oatmeal etc. The water is quite hot, so use caution when pouring it out. The lid , can sometimes be hard to close & open.

I first became hooked on electric kettles when traveling in the U.K. and have kept putting off getting one. This is perfect for my six (O, heavens did I really say six!) cups of tea a day. Faster than the microwave (only because its actually boiled and hot) and no worrys about...did I leave the stove on as it has a brilliant auto shut-off. It even stays plenty warm enough to top off the first cup of tea. I love it, am only sorry it took this many years to indulge my self with such a simple product!

P.S -Terrific on snowy days when the kids come in and want hot coco...FAST! (Makes one feel like SuperMom for the rare second or two!!! )

Have used the Bodum electric kettle for travel for years, but decided I''d purchase this Proctor Silex for the office since it was a few bucks cheaper. That was a mistake.

Despite boiling and dumping out the water a half-dozen times, the water itself STILL tasted like "plastic." Ick. As a tea drinker, the quality of the water is key. Also, I found the general shape difficult to handle, the lid was hard to open, and when gently pouring the water it consistently (and dangerously) sloshed out the sides near the spout.

Anyway, I ended up giving this one away and buying an additional Bodum electric kettle for the office. It''s working great, just like the 10-year-old Bodum I take traveling. (I think it''s also interesting to note that the classic, no-frills, usable design of the Bodum has remain unchanged in the past 10 years Hey, if it ain''t broke, don''t ''fix'' it.)

This is a nice little electric tea kettle. It requires that you heat at least 1 and 1/2 cups of water because of the submerged coil. I especially like the detachable cord.

My concerns are two fold. First, the sides do get hot. The handle remains cool, but I would not trust small children to be near it. Second, for the automatic shuttoff to work, the lid MUST be snapped closed. It will continue to boil if the lid is not completely closed (the instructions do state this). This is why I only gave it 4 stars.

It took me 7 minutes to boil (to auto-shutoff) a full pot (4 cups). The minimum (1 and 1/2 cups) took 2 min 50 sec.

It is supposed to be a 1000 watt heating element. Measuring it with a "Kill A Watt" meter, I found it actually used only 850-880 watts.

Update January 2013: After more than 7 years, this kettle is still in use boiling a single cup of water at my work approx 4 times per week. That is over 1000 uses. A few times the detachable cord was not in all the way, and when I turned it on, the on light did not turn on. Simply pushing it in fixed It. The heating element does appear to have some wear, as its got a few pitting marks. This is to be expected. Other than that there have been no problems. I would still rate it 4 stars.

Water purity and taste are the main issues for me here. Before I bought this item to use at work, I often used a stainless steel kettle on the stove at home. That water was fine of course, but this item makes water taste, smell, and even look plasticky (when light reflects inside the cup it looks oily and there is an oily film on top of the water). I can still taste and smell it even after I''ve brewed my tea.

I figured this might be normal for the first time using it, so I kept using it. I''ve used it over a week, probably 6 or 7 times, and there is no improvement. I haven''t tried vinegar or anything like that, so I''m not sure if that will help... but even if it does, I don''t really trust that plastic isn''t getting into my water. I drink a lot of tea and water purity is important. If it''s important to you too, I''d say spend a bit more and get a stainless steel model.

Aside from that major problem, no issues. water boils fast and quiet.

HERA Ultrasonic Humidifer

HERA Ultrasonic HumidiferTo combat the dry air commonly found in winter, I have used humidifiers for as long as I can remember. I have used various types and I tend to prefer the ultrasonic humidifiers due to their low noise and the lack of required filters and other parts that other types of humidifiers commonly use.

Let us start with the basics. The HERA ultrasonic humidifier is basically another ultrasonic humidifier. The basic functionality of the product is not much different than any other ultrasonic humidifier that I have ever seen. The unit creates a spout of water mist, which in theory will evaporate before hitting the ground and humidify the air. The product does this and does this well.

However, the HERA Ultrasonic Humidifier has a pretty hefty price tag compared to many other models. What sets the HERA brand apart from the rest?

The HERA Ultrasonic Humidifier has touchpad controls that allow the user to customize the humidifier settings to their own preferences. The humidifier has a warm mist feature that helps take the cold, wet feeling out of the room. There is the option of three different output levels. The humidifier can be set up to shut off when it reaches a predetermined humidity level and there is a digital hygrometer to show you the humidity level of the room. The night mode will dim the LCD display if the light bothers you at night. The unit is equipped with a filter cartridge meant to reduce the hardness level of your water and an ionic silver cube meant to help keep the water bacteria free.

I personally found most of the functions on the humidifier pretty intuitive. I did have to refer to the manual a few times to figure out exactly what certain buttons did. I felt that the manual was very poorly designed. I thought the content of the manual was fine, but the layout of the manual was not very user friendly in my opinion. While I did not have problems figuring out how to fill the tank, my wife did have to take some time to figure out where the water went.

There were some things I really liked about the unit. I thought the output level of the unit was powerful. On the highest setting with the unit 2 feet off the ground, the water did not evaporate before it hit the ground. I thought the unit was very aesthetically pleasing. It is an attractive box form that can fit in a number of areas easily. I thought the warm mist was a nice option that I felt made a difference in the feel of the air in the room. One of the things I liked best was that the tank is square, which makes for easy filling. I have had other shaped tanks that were a pain to try and hold while filling with several gallons of water.

The hygrometer seemed to be fairly accurate for the most part. I put another hygrometer in the same room and the readings were pretty close. The only exception to this is when I filled the tank. The hygrometer on the humidifier would read too high for a few minutes after filling the tank. If the auto mode is being utilized, it will usually shut off until the reading corrects itself.

What I did not like about the unit is the concept of the filter cartridge. I live in an area with pretty hard water. There is a water softener in my house, but I know many people do not have one. I have used ultrasonic humidifiers for years before I put my water softener in and I will admit after about 3 or 4 winters, I will usually have to clean the humidifier out with vinegar and a soft brush. While the idea of the filter cartridge did intrigue me, it is a disposable part and one that might need to be changed frequently.

The humidifier comes with a test strip. The test strip appears to be German and measures in units of Degrees of Hardness (dH) and the instructions measures water hardness in "pink boxes." I took a sample of untreated water in my house and using test strips, I measured it to be about 250 ppm (parts per million) or about 15 gpg (grains per gallon). Using the provided test strip, it measured about 17 dH or about 3.5 pink boxes. In my later research, I found that the gpg and dH measurements are not identical, but for this purpose, they are close enough to use interchangeably.

So why am I spending so much time talking about water hardness? The filter cartridge life is dependant on water hardness. With 15gpg/17dH water hardness level at my house without the water softener, I can expect the filter cartridge to last for 20 to 40 gallons of water or 10 to 20 fills of the tank. At the time of this writing, a Stadler Form A-112 replacement cartridge runs $15 to $20. The Stadler Form Replacement Ionic Silver Cube is supposed to be replaced annually and currently that runs another $25.

My treated water is about 1 gpg. According to the manual, at this hardness level, the filter should last about 115 gallons of water or about 58 fills.

While I liked the humidifier, the price of replacement cartridges and silver cubes can be quite expensive. Both of these items are optional to use, but if you take those aspects away, then this is just another ultrasonic humidifier and then there are many more cost effective alternatives available. Those alternatives might not be as stylish and the controls might not be as user friendly, but when it comes down to it, without the filter cartridge, my $50 Sunbeam has most of the same functions as this one.

Overall, I thought it was an excellent product worthy of 5 stars. However, keep in mind that there is potentially quite an expense to utilize the product to its full potential. For that, I am deducting 2 stars.

I''m giving it 5 stars when I should really give it 4 only because the other reviews are really addressing the instructions rather than the product. You really have to read them carefully. This thing is engineered actually quite well. Admittedly it is not very intuitive.

TO FILL THE UNIT:

Lift the reservoir off of the unit using the built in handle on top

Carry it to your sink. It is a sealed unit. No water will drip from it.

Flip the reservoir upside down in your sink.

Remove the fill cover. The fill cover is about 3" in diameter. The filter is attached to the inside of it so when you remove the cover you are also removing the filter. It opens and closes with a 1/4 turn.

Fill the reservoir and replace the cover/filter

Walk the reservoir back over to the unit and put it in place. It simply sets on top of the base.

The most difficult part of this entire process is turning the reservoir right side up in your sink when it is full of water. It now has a couple gallons of water in it, so it''s a bit heavy. It might be a bit difficult for someone very old or with weak hands.

For the person who said that the floor was wet, the instructions do clearly state NOT to put it on the floor. We have ours on our kitchen countertop which works quite well except when we have the gas range on. There is something about the charged ions this thing puts into the air that must mess with the oxygen and hence the flame on our stovetop.

For the person who has a problem with his hard water and this unit. I would suggest that it is not the fault of this product. You will face the same issue with ANY high-end unit that uses this technology.

The specifications are much better on the manufactures website.

Humidifiers is one of frustrating product categories. Almost everything out there seems to get mediocre reviews or have some fatal flaw. My own requirements were as follows: (1) Something with a hot and cold mist. (2) Something with a very pleasing form. (3) Something that had the hope of not becoming a bacterial breeding ground. (4) Something with a precise hygrometer built in. (5) Something with the capacity to run at least one night. The Stadler form devices promise many of these. We chose the Hera over the the other model with a hygrometer (the William) for one main reason. There had been complaints on the William that the lights are too bright at night, and this was a very big concern with a baby in the room.

On to the Hera. It looks good, like a tapered black slab. It''s just the right size (not a hulk). The control panel is very intuitive (with mist levels, a hot/ cold choice), and a humidity setting (in increments of 10%). There is a night mode that really dims the light to almost invisible. Really, what''s not to like?

Two (and half) things. First, in night mode it automatically seems to go to a low mist level. Not sure why. Second, and the reason we returned this, is that that hygrometer didn''t work. After running it two days in a small room it still showed 30% humidity. As I mentioned this was a key feature from our point of view. I didn''t feel like trying again with a replacement because I had seen this complaint in other reviews (I should have listened!) The smaller complaint was that for the first few minutes there was water leaking from the bottom seam or joint on the water tank. Obviously this would be really bad, but the leak stopped after the first few minutes and did not return.

In fairness, I think this is an excellent machine, but don''t get it for the built-in hygrometer. I suppose I should dock more stars for the fact that a promised feature seems to regularly not work on these machines, but I liked it enough otherwise.

The function of the device is perfect. The warm mist setting is great in winter and cool mist in summer is great for providing evaporative cooling to your home.

I run this unit constantly at the highest output level and refill every morning (and night) and it is just about shutting off for low-water when I go to bed (about 15 hours for full tank cycle using max loads).

Just a couple complaints:

Refilling the unit is ridiculous. I recommend placing unit near a kitchen sink that has a hose attachment that you can spray into the tank as the tank needs to be held upside down. This causes you to set the tank on its "head" while you fill it. Thus this smashes the directional vents for the unit and creates a very fragile process. I have learned to set the tank on the edge of something while refilling so the vents are not bearing the weight of the entire tank.

Secondly I would say the tank needs to be larger. Yes I understand that this unit is made for easy carrying by most people etc, but a larger tank option would be nice.

I apologize for being late in submitting this review but a stroke has put me further behind than originally planned.

This is a really neat package that contains just about all of the basic requirments in less than one-half of the space. Unlike other reviewers my unit came with an entry level type of review and it works as promised. The unit comes with a list of options including "Humidity", "Output", "Warm Mist", "Night Mode", and "Auto Mode" and they all work as directed. Unless I have missed something everything works as promised and really without any difficulty. I find the filling of the Transparent water tank a bit of a problem but overall it works as planned.

For me the unit works as directed. It shows once again that form and function can be combined into a really neat package. I like other humidifiers but this one is now the leader in both design and functiom.

Franke FRXS2 (FRX-S2) Triflow Filtration System

Franke FRXS2 Triflow Filtration SystemThis replaced an older version of the same that had what appeared to be a PVC-based filter holder and cheap plastic hoses. The new version of this is a much sleeker, stainless steel filter holder and stainless steel (at least on the outside) hoses. It also comes with one filter (which is what the picture on Amazon is of). The only thing it doesn''t come with is teflon tape, which is a dollar or two at any hardware store. Five stars for the higher quality kit, and reduced worries of leakage (our last one eventually burst a tiny hole in the PVC-based filter holder), and it appears we had some dripping from the cheap hoses.

McNett Aquamira Frontier Pro Ultralight Water Filter Save 29% Off

McNett Aquamira Frontier Pro Ultralight Water FilterDespite a lack of reviews when I purchased this unit, I decided to risk the $20 due to its novel design. After a couple of trips, I have to say I''m impressed. I''ll be taking the filter with me on future trips.

If you''re into ultralight backpacking or simple day hikes, this filter could save you a lot of weight. It screws onto any standard soda/pop/water bottle (think Coke, Sprite, Aquafina, etc.) and you bite/suck through the nozzle (like a CamelBak) to drink; the water is filtered between the bottle and your mouth.

I coupled the filter with a 1.5L Smart Water bottle (available at most grocery stores) due to the Smart Water''s unique size/shape combination, which makes it easier to carry and squeeze. The system acted as an excellent backup unit during my trips. I just filled the bottle directly from the water source, screwed on the filter, and drank. Much easier than pumping.

The unit is also supposed to work with the included straw (for drinking directly out of water sources) or with hydration packs (in place of a regular bite valve). I have not tried either configuration, so I can''t attest to their effectiveness.

Pros:

----------

+ Works like it''s supposed to

+ Small and very light

+ Low-cost

+ Fits onto any standard soda/pop/water bottle

+ Stretchy silicone/rubber neck keeps cap in place while closed and safely attached while drinking

+ Entire thing floats if accidentally dropped into water

+ Comes with several replacement pre-filters

Cons:

----------

Non-replaceable filter cartridge (you can buy a whole new one for $20, but that creates unnecessary garbage)

Flow rate isn''t terribly fast. It feels like a slower CamelBak, and you might have to start squeezing the bottle as it empties.

Only practical for one person (unless you don''t mind sharing)

Things to watch out for:

----------

* To increase filter life, make sure you use the included pre-filter

* Leaks when used with soft-bodied Platypus bladder-bottles (NOT the same thing as hydration packs; these soft "bottles" are basically small plastic bags with integrated water bottle spouts). The filter screws on, but not tightly enough to create a vacuum seal. This makes drinking very difficult and gets everything wet. I had no such problem with regular, hard-bodied bottles.

* Long-term reliability/flow rate is uncertain due to a lack of reviews.

* This unit does not filter viruses -no pump/mechanical-action filter does except for the First Need series. You''ll need chlorine tablets if this is a concern to you, though it should not be in most North American waters.

* This will not work with Nalgenes (even narrow-mouthed ones), Kleen Kanteens, or SIGGs.

Conclusion:

----------

All in all, I love this little thing and will be taking it with my as a backup filter for future trips. It''s great if you''re camping near a water source and don''t want to have to keep pumping for drinking water. Just remember what it''s designed for: solo drinking out of a dirty water bottle, not group filtration into clean bottles.

This filter is of limited utility because of the large pore size which allows most bacteria and all viruses to get through. It will only strain out particulates, cryptosporidium and giardia. Therefore, you will need to chemically treat the water for at least 15 minutes before you use th filter. The advantage to this filter is that you can chemically treat the water and be able to drink it through the filter without waiting the full 1-4 hours required for the chemicals to kill giardia and cryptosporidium. There is also a way you can convert this filter into a very lightweight gravity filter system using collapsible playpus type water containers and plastic tubing. Certain products are designed to do certain things. Such as you would not drive a race car to the local corner store, or back and forth to work. A race car was designed to be on the race track, not the neighborhood streets.

The Aquamira Frontier Pro Water Filter is designed for a certain purpose, and users need to be aware of those purposes and limitations.

The filter will not remove viruses. They have to be killed with chemical treatment.

The filter will not remove certain types of bacteria.

However, it is light wieght, easy to use, has no moving parts to break and is easy to clean.

Instead of drinking the water straight from the stream, you could fill up a water bottle, add some purification tablets, then use this filter to help remove the chemical taste.

I wish the filters removed more bacteria and that replacment filters were avaible. Having to buy a new unit when the filters get dirty is a turn off.

The plastic housing seems kind of weak. Its not made out of a high impact plastic, its more like a cheap plastic that toys are made out of.

If you are on a budget, this might get the job done. But if you can afford a full fledged filter, then go ahead and buy something better.

This is a great product for the price.

I use it as a gravity filter, filtering from a 2.5L platypus bottle into my hydration bladder (the jason klass method). Works excellent this way!

You should use a chemical treatment as well, as others have noted, but I would suggest using the chemical treatment no matter what type of filter you are using.

so its not like an extra process or something...

The only thing that would make this better would be if it had replaceable filter cartridges. It does not, but will still filter well over the 50 gallons it claims as long as you keep your pre-filter clean and replace it as often as needed.

For this price its worth it, it will probably take 2 seasons for me to go through 50 gallons of water.

After four months, it looks like the company has roundly ignored the following complaint I sent in Sept. 2010:

Dear Aquamire/McNett,

I purchased four filters for 30 days on the JMT despite reviews that the product easily clogs and freezes. I figured since I was headed into the High Sierra with exceptionally clear water sources that I would be ok as long as I checked and changed the prefilter regularly, and slept with it in my bag every night to avoid freezing. Sadly, all four filters failed. The failures I experienced were of two kinds:

1. The filters all leaked from the threaded joint where the prefilter sits. Thus, unfiltered water trickled down onto and into my clean water reservoir.

2. All four filters clogged up well before their advertised 50 gallon capacity. In fact, none of them lasted more than 40 liters despite clear sources and daily checks/replacement of the prefilter.

I found myself having to rely on iodine tablets and the kindness of other hikers who allowed us to use their pump filters. I am extremely unhappy to have had to pay as much as I did for such a hassle, indignity and risk to our health.

In addition to money misspent on your filters, I''ve lost my investment in the compatible Platypus products which we had to purchase in order to use your product. (Actual amazon.com receipts are enclosed). Needless to say, I cannot rely in future on your gravity filters; therefore, in addition to the expense of purchasing four filters, my expenses totaled $199.87

Not good, please advise.

Shark Professional Steam Pocket Mop: 3 Quick Release Mop Heads

Shark Professional Steam Pocket Mop: 3 Quick Release Mop HeadsI loved my old shark pocket mop, until it got wore out and died... :( So, I loved it so much and it worked so well, naturally I went out and bought the newer model from Costco.

There are some new great features: a larger water tank, a longer cord, three cleaning options, and no pumping action to get it working just plug it in (wait a few min), select your cleaning option, and start mopping.

The thing that brings this model down to 3 stars, when normally I would rate this product at a 5, is the new ''imporved'' mopping pads all have that dusting kind of threads hanging off of it. I don''t know what they are really called, but the purple pocket pad has them from the previous model (that we NEVER used). Those particular pads do not clean my tile floors at all. I am glad I have an old pile of the microfiber clothes to use with my new Shark Pocket Mop, or I would have returned it ~ I feel they are that usless, they make the mop not even worth getting if you are being forced to use those things.....

So, new Shark Pocket Mop with old microfiber clothes = 5 Stars, where as the new Shark Pocket Mop with the ''new'' pads = 3 (not worth buying if you can''t get ahold of the old pads though, don''t waste your hard earned money).

I have multiple dogs, from 16 to 114 lbs not to mention the grand puppies and grand children tracking ''who knows what'' in the house on to the laminate floors. After spending more then I should have on other cleaning products and tools, after just one use of the steam mop I''ve finally got my floors clean! I would recommend this mop to anyone that has multiple types of floors, tile, laminate, hardwood etc., that need to be cleaned. No chemicals needed, everything comes up fine with just the use of clean tap water. Hey and get this my socks no longer get dirty while walking on my freshly cleaned floors, Great product.

Okay so I am a mom to a 20 month old son, who is in the process of learning to go potty. (YEEEAAHHHH see why I said good for what I need it for;) ) So I hate using harsh chemicals in my house anyways (we both have asthma, and very sensitive skin) I bought one at t**get for 135 plus you get a 20 gift card back. That unit had three mop heads (with two types the triangle and the rectangle).

It worked adequately to quickly heat up and clean the floors after accidents (I literally use it after each potty trip). However I am not throwing away my normal libman mop because this does a good job at sanitizing your floors and making them not feel grimy, but for thick messes (like after my toddler eats dinner and half the plate is on the floor) its better to use a normal mop.

Well a few days after buying the one from target I saw they had the same model at sam''s club with FIVE mop heads for 99. Well you know I took mine back and went to sams and bought it. after taxes and adding a five dollar extra year warranty (since everyone keeps saying they die after the one year mark) it came to 115.

I have had the last one I bought for about a week now, and I promise it is worth 100 bucks. It is so simple to plug in and clean the bath room floor. I have linoleum and it didn''t mess it up or leave streaks (and I used it on the highest setting which they say not to on these floors). I did use it in my fridge (lol yes I really did with a clean pad) on a nasty sticky mess that had accumulated on the bottom of the fridge under the drawers, and it took up a nasty mess that would have taken a lot of hot water and soap, and probably a whole roll of paper towels. It cleaned it up easily. I had really considered taking it back until I saw it make the fridge look like new. I figure as long as it can quickly sanitize my bathroom floors repetitively through out the day, and when needed clean up really thick sticky messes it is worth $100.

Like I said in the title make sure to shop around and find the best deal. =) Happy cleaning!!

**************UPDATE 4/18/12***********************

So I wanted to update my review, and up the stars to five. I have been using this mop in both the kitchen and bath since I wrote the first review and have NOT had to use the old fashioned mop!! Even with dried yogurt and spaghetti on the floor, I just let it steam on it for a minute and the it comes up! Over all I am very very happy I bought this!!!

Pumie Toilet Bowl Ring Remover #TBR-6 Save 80% Off

Pumie Toilet Bowl Ring Remover #TBR-6Alas, freshening the bathroom bowl is one of those household things I just hate. My wife has assigned the task to me and I try to keep the work to a minimum. I''ve found a wonderful bathroom bowl cleaner referred to as "The Works" (available at Wall-Mart and other stores, but can be somewhat hard to find). It makes cleaning a toilet real easy. However, even with this miracle worker, sometimes a light ring is evident and that has always bothered my wife. We picked up a Pumie and it essentially removed the ring. I''m impressed!

I''m a geologist, so please pardon the following analysis. Pumice is a natural volcanic glass and, as such, has just about the same degree of hardness (resistance to scratching) as the toilet bowl porcelain. If anything, the porcelain might be slightly softer. The package says that the product is "safe." Well, pumice is not toxic in any way so by safe they probably mean that it won''t scratch porcelain. But they then warn about using the Pumie on colored bowls, where scratching would be more evident. I suspect that the rather remarkable ability of this pumice stick product to remove that ugly stain is producing minor, mostly microscopic, surface damage to the interior of the bowl each time that it is used. Whether this makes any difference is open to question. If you replace your bowl every ten or twenty years, or if you live in a rented property, then go ahead and use it with vigor. If you expect the bowl to remain like new for the life of the house, you''re probably going to start to notice the scratching and it will probably give the porcelain a dull non-glazed finish. It won''t hurt the function of the bowl in any way, I should add. So what should one do? Well, I''m going to use the Pumie sparingly in that I won''t be around long enough to view the damage and even if I am, a toilet bowl isn''t all that expensive or difficult to replace. For most people, I would suggest cleaning the bowl first with a conventional bowl cleaner (The Works is suggested) and then, if any remnants of an ugly ring persist, go to the Pumie. I think you''ll be surprised at how easy it is.

Pumice stones are excellent for removing rust stains and hard water deposits on variety of surfaces including toilets, bathtubs and sinks. They are even good to remove callouses on your feet. This product works as advertised and works very well. However you can save a lot if you buy the regular pumice stone from same company at less than half the price, and here on Amazon and Prime eligible.

U. S. Pumice HDW-12 Pumie Scouring Stick

Unless you are squeamish about getting your hand in the toilet bowl it works just as well, better maybe as you can control the stone better without the handle and can use full stone not just part down to where handle insert goes into the stone. You are going to put your hand in toilet bowl anyway even with the handle, why not save several dollars?

I came up with several links that suggested the Pumie. I read the reviews on Pumie (which were great, btw). I decided to order the product. I live in a city with hard water, so this filter is working very good provided the conditions.

These CS-52 replacement filters work fine and are a good value; there''s no reason to pay full retail. The only oddity with this purchase is that the filter normally "snaps" into place to let you know it is installed correctly this one did not. It''s the correct model number and it still works fine (no problem with leaks) but I was a little frustrated when I could not get it to snap into place like previous filters.

I use this bleach to clean My floors and do laundry with. When I am using it for the floor I mix it with Pine Sol which produces a fresh clean scent. No gases, just a crisp clean scent. I am a bit heavy handed on the bleach and had to learn to ease up on it for you only need a little bit. I was using too much and had to open the windows for it was too strong of a smell. Won''t do that again. More isn''t always best. Sometimes less is best.

Good product. Clorox is always number one in My book.

Youthwaters Stage 2! Portable Hydrogen

Youthwaters Stage 2! Portable Hydrogen - Alkaline Thermos - Water Filter Replacement Cartridge Only. Converts Regular Water Into Alkaline Ionized Microcluster Water + Healthy Minerals. The Life Span for This Filter Is Aprox 1-2 Months. Universal Works in Most Alkaline Thermos.for Best Results Replace Every 30 Days !!!!!!!!! + a Free Power of Nature Energy Negitive Ion- Anti Rad- Energy CardI bought this after doing a couple weeks of research on the benefits of alkalized water. And after sifting through all the products and claims by manufacturers this seemed to be the most cost effective with regards to the initial purchase and subsequent filter replacements. When I say it is an excellent improvement on water I mean that not only the taste but the feel of it is just amazingly smooth and refreshing. The day I got the thermos I did a blind taste test with my roommates on their opinion of which tasted better, and if they could pick which was which that would be even better. I used samples of our tap water, distilled water, and the alkalized ionized water. All four of them, after tasting all three, then gave me a unanimous vote that sample number two (the youth water) seemed "softer" to the palate, and proceeded to label all three correctly. I have to say I was skeptical at first because I always thought water was just water and their could be no discernible difference, but I have completely changed my mind just in the three days I have been drinking it and I look forward to experiencing the full range of benefits this product has to offer. I''ll write another review after the thirty day trial they recommend.

I might have liked it if I had received it, but it never got to my home. I have to see it, at least, to provide a good review.

I have never gotten accustomed to the taste of the water once it has been inside the thermos for a long period of time. Used two sets of filters thinking it was just something I had to grow accustomed to.....didn''t work. Would not recommend to anyone

We like these filters and have not found a better deal. We use them for a water cooler we bought here on Amazon. We also use them at home. Once an order we made got messed up and the manufacturer/supplier took care of it perfectly (they shipped the wrong item but no big deal). We will keep buying them.

Warm Mist Humidifier

Warm Mist Humidifier, 2 1/2 GalI would have rated this a 5 star if the cleaning was easier, but I do not know if such a humidifier exists.

We have hard water and the build up of scale was becoming a problem, even with daily cleaning (yes, you should clean this unit daily). I came up with a solution to reduce and almost eliminate the scale I add a teaspoon of baking soda to the tank when I refill it. The scale is drastically reduced and the unit runs at a whisper quiet. I originally ran the unit without the baking soda and there was some noise, mainly gurgling, that was too loud for me since I am a light sleeper.

There is a black covered heating element that requires cleaning to remove scale. This can be very difficult to remove. I solved this as part of the weekly maintenance when you use vinegar to clean the base. The part with the heating element rests on the base. By adding enough vinegar to fill the well where the heating element engages with the base, and allowing it to soak for 10 or 15 minutes, the scale is easily removed.

I like the warm mist because it helps warm up the room.

Overall, I believe this unit is a great value.

I bought one for the office and liked it so much I bought another one for home. I like the warm mist, it heats the water and kills the germs before sending out mist. You have to be so careful with cool mist humidifiers especially ones with a filter, because if you get sick the germs lodge in the filter and just multiply and you wind up re-circulating germs through the mist. I''ve read about the gurgling noise and yes baking soda does get rid of it I''m a light sleeper and I have mine right next to my bed. It keeps the sinus moist which prevents sinus infections. The vinegar is great for cleaning the unit as well. And I love the fact that I don''t have to deal with filters. I HATE filters. This is like plug and go! I''ve had mine over 2 years and it''s still going strong. Hope they never discontinue it.

It produces upto 2.5 gallons per day, but the tank is only 1 gallon so you have to refill it a lot to get this. The instructions say DO NOT use detergents on any part but then it says to put the bottom section in the dishwasher. It takes a lot of time and effort to clean the scaling off, partly because you have to wait 15 minutes after turning it off since the heating element remains hot for a long time and could send out random steam to burn you as you pick it up. In terms of cost vs time it''s probably a better deal for many people to just buy new wicks for an evaporating humidifier. But the worst thing is a metal plate on the bottom maybe 1/3" from the ground that''s there to prevent the plastic from melting under the heating element. That''s pretty close to the floor to have a metal plate that''s nearly boiling hot and is probably the real reason why the manual says to keep it off rugs or finished floors. It also had a pretty bad plastic outgas smell; maybe this will go away in time though. All considered I don''t really even feel safe leaving this on when I''m not in the room (although there''s probably no rational reason behind it).

great value for the money. no filter was the reason for the purchase and thank goodness. can be hard to clean, but i haven''t tried the baking soda yet. can be heavy when full of water, and the tank is so big that i have to use the bathtub to fill it because it doesn''t fit under my sink. it is very quiet and would recommend it to anyone.

We bought this humidifier last year and my son used it in his smaller room and it worked very well. The gurgling sound was no louder than a tranquility fountain. It only lasted about 10 minutes and then it was silent throughout the night. The water tank was just right, one fill is all it took. (Any larger capacity tank would cause it be too heavy to carry. I can''t imagine that.) We tried it in our master bedroom and since it is large we would rather have two of these humidifiers than to try another brand. We save a lot of money since we don''t need to buy filters. We have had no issues with cleaning.

Charcoal Replacement Filters for Stainless Steel Compost Pail

Charcoal Replacement Filters for Stainless Steel Compost Pail,Set of 2The double filters work great with the endurance Compost Pail. There are no odors from our kitchen scraps which is key. The only negative is that although I don''t smell anything from the pail, the fruit flies do. The pail still attracts fruit flies in the summer months. I don''t know that they can actually get in past the filters but they try. And I don''t know if there is a way around this issue.

I ordered what I thought was the correct size for my 1.5 Gal compost pail but received filters that were far too small for the lid. The problem is that there is no size on the packaging and I think the seller sent the wrong item. I still had the box that my compost pail came in so I knew the size of the pail. The filters are not described well online so you don''t really know what you are getting.

I am very pleased with the composter pail. My former pail was plastic and after time became stained and carried an odor that cleaning would not remove. The stainless steel type cleans beautifully, can be placed in the dishwasher and unlike the ceramic types won''t break. This model holds quite a bit of scraps eliminating the need to empty on a daily basis and the double charcoal filter system really works in odor control.

GREAT PRODUCT! I have a compost pail that I use every day, several times a day, and I keep it in my kitchen. I would say it gets filled up about every 5 days, so its sitting for that length of time with all the compost inside. When I remove the lid to add more to the pail, sometimes the smell is just awful, especially in the warmer weather when things start to decompose very quickly. But this filter is terrific; I never smell ANYTHING when the lid is on (and thankfully, neither does anyone else!) I highly recommend this filter...it really does the job it''s supposed to!

[Best Holiday Gift] PHY 4-Cup/0.6L Switch Espresso Coffee Maker / Coffeemaker with Glass Carafe & Permanent Filter & Semi Transparent Water Tank, RedI was looking for a 4 cup coffee maker, with a cone filter, with a glass carafe, and if it was in red it would match the other red items in my kitchen. So I ordered this coffee maker. Not only did it meet all the criteria, it makes good coffee, takes up very little space, and is a bargain price. The only thing I wish for is an automatic shut off timer. Other than that, perfect!

The title claims "switch espresso coffee maker." It''s basically just your regular coffee maker. There''s only one switch on the machine (on and off).

Pros:

-Small and compact (fits right under the cupboard)

-Comes with the permanent filter

-Really fast

-Easy to clean

Cons:

-No automatic shut off

*Would definitely recommend to any solo coffee drinker like myself.

Did not even work, right from the start. This gets 1 star, only because of its prettyness, and would be real easy to use, clean, etc, if it only worked!! Bought the Zojirushi instead, because most people like it. Was just worried because of some people with the cracking glass, but will be careful with it and am looking forward to good coffee. Waterpik Power Spray Shower Head Save 35% Off

Waterpik Power Spray Shower HeadWhen I first purchased this product I had high hopes but was initially disappointed. The previous Waterpik showerheads I had purchased had flow regulators located within the brackets that I''ve always removed for greater water pressure... The instructions have always detailed how to remove the device if you desired to do so. This showerhead and its paperwork made no mention of a flow regulator and no such device was located in it''s typical location (the showerhead bracket) so I figured that the flow of water was solely regulated by the adjustment on the handle that enables the user to set the pressure from high to a trickle and anything in between. Unfortunately, once I started using the product I felt that the water pressure wasn''t sufficient even set on high. I had this product uninstalled and was ready to repackage it for return before I decided to start tinkering with it. Though the instructions do not make mention of it, they moved the flow regulator from the bracket to hid it inside the handle of the showerhead itself. They obviously did not intend on people removing this part because you need a pair of needle nosed pliers to reach in far enough to pry it out, however, removing this device has transformed this product into the best showerhead I''ve owned with more than enough water pressure. It takes some of the "eco" out of the equation, however, you still retain the ability to adjust the water pressure anywhere from full power to a trickle using the adjustable knob built into the handle so you get the best of both worlds. I''ve also uploaded a picture in the customer images for a visual description of the flow regulator that needs to be removed should you also desire the best water pressure possible.

If you''ve read Waterpik reviews on some of their other products, you might not want to buy their products. Common descriptions are "cheap", "plastic", and so on. I''d purchased this product before reading those reviews, and was pretty nervous about installing it. We were replacing our Hansgrohe showerhead, a very expensive and well made showerhead that started falling apart after 10 years.

Warning: my husband cut himself on the sharp plastic packaging, so be careful. That was the worst of it, though, because the showerhead took all of 5 minutes to install. All you need is a plumbing wrench. You don''t need any plumbing tape (like Hansgrohe), and it promised not to leak. I was pretty skeptical.

This showerhead was so much better than I''d expected. It doesn''t drip at all, not at the base and not thru the unused shower holes. It has 7 settings (you have a choice of waterflows: high, medium and low) which are so much fun to switch around! The High and Medium waterflow settings gave us so much more power than our Hansgrohe showerhead that rinsing my long hair took seconds, compared to minutes with our old showerhead. This thing makes showering great.

The true test came when our waterbill arrived. I was expecting a higher waterbill since we''re getting such powerful showers. But No! Even on high waterflow, our bill was lower than it was with our old showerhead. We''re actually saving money because we don''t need to spend so long in the shower.

Here is the thing: I paid less than $40 for the showerhead and you should too. Good luck!

The installation was a breeze with barely the need for any tools.

The material looks quite pricey .. and not some cheap plastic.

Although for a "green" supporter you have the eco option the shower with a high option is simply out of this world.

The jet spray does give you quite a massage and a good one at it.

All of a sudden my entire family is now spending a lot more time taking our shower.

Guess what, no one is complaining!

I bought this upgrade on sale elsewhere and was very disappointed. In fact, when I finish this warning I''ll write Water-Pik directly to share my complaints. I''ve used Water-Pik shower massage products for over 30 years; love ''em. I highly recommend massaging to stimulate circulation. But Water-Pik has so limited the flow with this model that the massage function, which is the only reason to buy one of these in the first place, doesn''t "massage" at all. You can tell it''s trying to pulse but not strongly enough to do anything. but there is hope. Thanks to Kevin''s picture I was able to finally defang this thing. I''d unscrewed the two basket-strainer/pressure-reducers, one in the mounting assembly and one in the handle''s inlet. I''d even disembowled the backflow preventer, as it too adds pressure drop. And I''d upped my water pressure from 45 psi to 60 psi all to no avail. Then I tried Kevin''s trick and plucked out the red restrictor deep to the basket filter in the handle base. Voila! Now I''ve got a Shower-Massage! Water-Pik should really have included this tip with the instructions (and a pair of needle-nose pliers). I wonder how many people have either thrown the thing away or returned it to the store in disgust before finding this fix. Oh, and can someone explain the advantage to designing the mounting lock ring with left hand theads?

Want Waterpik Power Spray Shower Head Discount?

This showerhead has a great variety of modes from pulsating, to mist, to concentrated, to a mixture of all of those. It has very good water pressure, so you won''t have trouble getting the conditioner out of your hair, and the fact that it is removable is awesome. I find zero problems with it. Great!

I live in South Central Texas where we have VERY hard water. Most people have a water softener, but our house didn''t come with one and we don''t want to spend $1000 to have our house replumbed to install a water softener. I bought a brand new dishwasher, because I thought the old one wasn''t cleaning very well. Still had dirty/spotty dishes. I tried a variety of DW detergents, rinse aids, etc. The hang-in-the-rack solid rinse aid came close, but not close enough. I had resorted to running the dishes through a rinse cycle with vinegar EVERY time I did dishes. Then I Googled "hard water spots on dishes" and found this filter. AMAZING! Works great! The dishes are actually shiny! It says to replace it every 6 months, so we''ll see how long it lasts. When I buy a new one I will buy a few!
