Capresso 10-Cup Coffee/Cappuccino Makers Save 20% Off

Capresso 10-Cup Coffee/Cappuccino Maker, BlackAfter spending a few weeks researching various coffee makers and reading numerous reviews and online user reports, I settled on the Capresso CoffeeTEC due to its features and the theory behind how it brews coffee reduced aeration to hold flavor (vacuum sealed carafe), no burner to bake the bean and increase acidity, and 190+ degree water dispensed into the brewing basket, which is very hot for a coffee maker!

I have to admit, I was nervous. I saw two general complaints that were common from online user reports. 1) The carafe did not maintain the water temperature, and 2) the frother ceased to work. A few comments on these:

Thermal carafe: I have no clue how anyone can be having a problem with this carafe, unless there''s a problem with the heat of the water entering the carafe or in how they''re storing the coffee after it brews (like, in the refrigerator, perhaps).

I did some tests on the carafe after getting my CoffeeTEC. The carafe was at room temperature (not pre-heated, as some suggest) when doing this test. Immediately after brewing straight water with the carafe in the closed position, I measured the water temperature at 189.3f using a digital thermometer. I closed the carafe and let it sit for exactly one hour then measured the water at 182.1f, a drop of only about 7f, which is fantastic! Now, I also brewed a full pot of straight water on my now-replaced Mr. Coffee, which sat on a hot burner during the brew process. After brewing, the water temperature was exactly 178f. So, after one hour in the thermal carafe with no burner contact, the Capresso water was hotter than the Mr. Coffee immediately after brewing. Very impressive results!

Frothing problem: I have noticed that the plastic pieces that connect the milk container to the frother do have to be sealed properly for frothing to work. Also, it is necessary to clean the items after frothing; a very simple and quick process. Occasionally my unit will not froth immediately even though the steam would blast in an attempt to froth. This has been very easy to solve. After turning the steam on, I simply press the milk container tightly against the plastic piece that connects it to the frothing nipple. Don''t worry if you don''t understand this description. You have to own the unit to know the pieces I''m discussing. Just understand that with some minor manual jostling, the milk will flow and froth wonderfully!

Now, as for my assessment of this coffee maker... it is the best coffee maker I have ever owned! I''m knocked-out by the quality of brew I''m getting. Just as good if not better than commercial coffee houses, because I can make it to my specifications!

A few comments on this though... it took a few weeks for me to figure out exactly how to use this coffee maker so it brews to my liking. When I brewed my first cup, I didn''t care for it. Keep in mind, this unit brews water quickly through the grind. It extracts flavor and aroma through heat, not prolonged water contact with the bean. As a result, you will have to use more coffee than most coffee makers.

As an example, I used to measure one rounded tablespoon of beans (pre-ground) for every two 5oz cups, then I''d add one extra tablespoon for added body. So, for 20oz of coffee, I''d use three tablespoons of beans. With this coffee maker, I''ve learned I need to use one tablespoon for each 5oz cup plus one extra for added body. So, for the same 20oz pot of coffee, I use five tablespoons of beans.

Also, the other detail I discovered is, it was necessary to grind the beans finer than I had before. I''ve started grinding the beans on the Espresso setting of my grinder rather than the automatic drip setting. This made a huge difference on the strength and flavor of the coffee.

So, keep in mind you''ll want to play with the quantity and fineness of grind. If you use canned grinds, you have much less leeway. You''ll just have to add much more grind, but be careful! Don''t add too much or it will overflow the basket. Always adhere to the maximum grind amount Capresso recommends in the documentation.

The coffee maker comes with a gold filter. You may or may not like using the filter; I elected not to use it. The gold filter allows more oil and particulates into the coffee. Some like this; others don''t. It makes for an oilier, cloudier brew. Using paper filters, more of the fine particles are filtered out and much of the oil is kept from leaching into the carafe. The coffee is cleaner, clearer and not murky. I prefer using paper, but the preference is highly individualistic. I''d suggest running some tests and decide for yourself.

In the end, I find the coffee to be superb! This coffee maker is a fine-tuned piece of equipment that responds to the subtlest of changes you impart on the brewing process. Change the fineness of the grind or the quantity of beans used and you''ll experience a noticeable difference in the outcome of the brew. After I determined the right balance that suits my pallet, all I can say is, "Wow!" The flavor and body is nutty, winy and full, the aftertaste smooth and non-acidic, and the aroma outstanding! I highly recommend this coffee maker.

But, plan to make a number of pots when you first get it with the understanding that many of those pots will probably go down the drain. It''ll take some test runs to determine the quantity of coffee you''ll want to use, the fineness of grind, and which filter to use. With due diligence, you''ll have a splendid coffee maker from which you''ll enjoy each day''s coffee for years to come, custom made specifically towards your taste.

So, read the other reviews for what they are and keep in mind some of my comments. In my experience, many of the complaints reflect a user who hasn''t experimented with the grind quantity and fineness, and hasn''t been adventurous enough to work the "piping" when frothing.

I''ve been impressed with the well-thought out products coming from this relatively small company in the small appliance industry. Their Swiss designers have the leading edge technology in coffee makers and the CoffeeTEC is the latest innovation. Coffee is brewed 10 cups in under 8 minutes, and that''s fast. The idea is to have the fresh coffee exposed to hot water for the minimum amount of time, so flavor is extracted without extracting the bitter parts of coffee flavor. CoffeeTEC does this really well. A special 3-5 cup brewing selector makes it possible to brew a perfect small pot of coffee. The coffee goes directly into a stainless steel vacuum carafe, and after removing and sealing the pot the coffee stays hot for hours but never gets heated over and over again as in a traditional hot plate coffee maker. The Auto Cappuccino feature is a genuine plus for those of us who want some frothy milk with our coffee, it turns cold milk into hot milk and froth in seconds. Since all the works are outside of the coffee maker, it''s easy to clean and to remove the milk container for refrigerator storage. This is a winner in the category of latest coffee technology.

This is the second review I have written for this product (Please see the review directly below this one by "bookdeep"). I am pleased to report that we now LOVE this machine, ever since we discovered the "trick," and I am writing again to try and rectify the embarrasingly harsh review that I sent before. As I said in the first review, the coffee machine works fine: it makes a great cup of coffee quickly and efficiently, and it is easy to clean. Initially, we had some difficulty with the frothing mechanism; however, the solution turned out to be very simple. In order to start the steaming/frothing mechanism, there is a large dial that must be turned one-quarter turn from "Twelve O''Clock" (Steam Off) to "Three O''Clock" (Steam On). We discovered that when you turn the dial to the Steam On position you have to bear down on the dial a tiny, tiny bit: maybe the dial would actually go to 3:01 on the clock face, maybe even less. When we do that, the frothing starts immediately, every time. It seems that our trouble was that we were a little too delicate turning the dial. Note that this "overturning" is very slight: we wouldn''t want anyone to damage the machine. I wish that I could take back the previous review because that low rating will have an affect on the average for this product, but I cannot. I hope that writing to correct our error will help others who may consider this machine. Please note, that in spite of the brand name "Capresso" this is not an Espresso machine; it is a coffee maker with a frothing mechanism, which works amazingly well now that we know the trick. If this is the combination that you are looking for, then we cannot recommend this machine highly enough--it does do both of these jobs very well. And now that you know the trick, maybe there will be fewer frustrated, and more happy, coffee drinkers like us.

This is a fine, easy to use, machine that I''m really enjoying having in my kitchen. I had never used a milk-steamer before, and found the idea a little intimidating. But the process is really quite painless, and now I''m wondering why I did without it so long (even my java-phobic bride is enjoying homemade hot chocolate thanks to the steamer).

Anyone who enjoys having a pot of coffee on-call throughout a morning should avoid glass pots like a cliché and instead use a thermal carafe like this one. Not only does it keep coffee steaming hot without constant re-heating, but the wide top and easy-off lid make for easy clean up when you''re done.

The coffeemaker is elegantly designed, seems relatively sturdy, and looks nice on a countertop. Plus, it''s fast, fairly quiet, and -as I said -easy to clean.

For someone like me who just wants to enjoy coffee without trying to become a home barista (''professional maker of complex espresso drinks''), this is as much machine as I think I''ll need ... at least until the one with the built-in burr grinder arrives.

It makes the best coffee I''ve ever had. The carafe works perfectly and keeps the coffee hot, and at nearly peak flavor, for hours. Those few reviewers who say that it doesn''t keep the coffee hot simply have a carafe with a broken vaccuum seal.

I''m bothering to write a review because I had a problem with the machine, as some others have: the steamer stopped working properly, and the water tank was leaking. But at that point my experience was totally different from that of other posters who have complained about problems with the equipment and Capresso customer service. Get this: we had no warranty information on the machine, having received it 2nd-hand. Still, when my wife called their customer service, with no questions asked we were sent a pre-paid UPS label to return the unit. I put it in a UPS box on a Monday morning. On Wednesday afternoon---two days later---I received a new machine via UPS. (I know that they first received the machine I sent before sending the replacement because they replaced exactly what I sent, no more, no less; i.e., I sent the machine with just the water tank, none of the other parts, and I got back just a machine with a water tank.) I''m as pleasantly astonished by UPS getting it back and forth so quickly as am by Capresso simply and immediately fixing the problem at no charge.

Maybe Capresso "got the message" about customer service and made some changes. I could be bothered that the machine developed problems in the first place, but hey, things break. The bottom line for me is that it makes PERFECT coffee and, when there was a problem, Capresso took care of it astonishingly well.

Scotch 1801 "Instant Power" Main Line Cleaner 128 Oz

Scotch 1801 ''Instant Power'' Main Line Cleaner 128 OzThis product actually works as advertised!!!!!!!

My main sewer line was plugged enough that we suddenly had sewage backed up into the shower in the master bath at the rear of our house. My experience had always been that if the off the shelf products worked half as well as advertised that plumbers would be a lot more idle. At my wife''s prodding and, when the plumber I contacted the day before hadn''t even called by 1:30 that afternoon I reluctantly looked online for recommended products and found this one that was available at the big box home store near my house. I cancelled the plumber and used it according to the directions on the jug and, after waiting for about 7 hours did the hot water flush for 5 minutes followed with flushing all 3 toilets in the house in rapid succession to find nothing but a delightfully clear sewer line.

Bottom line: I was able to completely fix the problem for $12.00 and a little patience, compared to the $130.00 first hour charge from the plumber along with the mess from the equipment to root the line, the other plumber I contacted wanted over $200.00 to show up and had a machine charge to boot.

This product is now on my permanent list, I had even bought a second jug since I had a hard time believing that one would completely take care of the problem, my reserve stash is now ready for any future needs.

We''ve been having ''plumbing probs since we''ve moved into this house, but lately it''s been so bad that whenever we did a load of laundry had to jump up during the draining process and continually open the washer lid or it would back up into kitchen sink then overflow out of washer pipe end. Yesterday we decide to try to buy an auger (a.k.a. snake) to clean out the pipes.

We get the auger home and hubby gets to snaking the pipes but auger would only go so far before it would get stuck...So hubby ends up having to crawl under the house to try to check the clean out..so he gets under the house and checks it but since this house is over 40 years old, the clean-out cap is so rusted that it''s impossible to get it off without the right tools (which equals more money spent on the problem). So he finds another way into the pipe and ewwwww...won''t get into that...lets just say ''disgusting''! So many years of slime and grime buildup that there''s only a tiny hole for water to flow..hence the problem..

By now, Hubby is convinced that we either need to go to the home improvement store and buy some expensive machine to clean out the pipe, spend loads of money to replace the pipe (thats galvanized steel instead of pvc when apparently shows the age of house), or just call a plumber...I suggest that before going the expensive route, we go back to the home improvement store, explore our options, then decide.

We get to the store and look around...Hubby doesn''t think that any type of ''chemicals'' will work but all the things he thinks we will need are super expensive and taxing so I start reading the back of the chemical containers as he goes off to ask an associate for assistance...The guy comes back with hubby and we explain the problem and he suggests....dah dah! chemicals! So we buy a gallon of this main line cleaner for like 12 bucks,to which hubby only agrees to buy because it has a money-back guarantee. We later go back for another gallon just to be sure as it says on the back that 2 gallons may be needed for severe clogs.

Finally get this stuff in the sink drain and washer drain last night and let it soak overnight per the directions then rinsed out with hot water this morning again per the directions...Woot! not only is it not backing up anymore but the water from the washer is flowing better than it ever has in the almost 3 years since we''ve been here! This stuff is by far, unequivocally the best stuff on the market and will save you hundreds of dollars in plumbing repair costs! I''m sold and now so is my sweet "Mr. I Don''t Think".

Note: I would definitely try to find it at your local home improvement store first..1 gallon only cost us 12 dollars with tax included!

We''ve lived in our house only 3 years and already I''ve spent over $1000 on two incidents of a clog in a waste pipe where the master bath drain comes down and meets with the kitchen waste line. Both times, my plumber came out with the power snake and spent hours trying to ream out this clog. It''s several feet from the kitchen sink so Liquid Plumber couldn''t get that far, and it probably wouldn''t have worked anyway. Last year, my plumber said, "OK, I fixed it again, but if this happens next year, we have to take off the siding and see what is wrong with that part of the line."

So, just a year later, like clockwork, I came downstairs to find my shower water backed up into the kitchen sink. On a Saturday, when no plumber will come out to our remote area.

I searched online and read about Instant Power Main Line Cleaner. I got directions to a Wal-Mart and bought all 3 bottles on the shelf. I poured one bottle into the upstairs shower drain and one bottle into the kitchen sink. These are 1-gallon bottles, so the liquid gets past the trap. My clog isn''t in the trap, it''s almost 4 feet farther than that.

I let it all sit for 18 hours. On Sunday morning, I filled my tea kettle and started pouring boiling water into both drains.

At first, I thought it didn''t work. There was a backup of water to the kitchen sink. But after pouring another tea kettle into the upstairs drain, the backup disappeared. I poured in a couple more gallons of boiling water for good measure. No backup. I ran the dishwasher and took a shower. No backup. I saved $500!!

I am not kidding myself that the pipe is good as new back there. I think I need to treat this area proactively, maybe once a month. But I could buy 70 bottles of Instant Power for the cost of a single plumber visit. Awesome stuff!

By the way, pay close attention to the safety warnings. This is EXTREMELY corrosive stuff. Don''t get it on your skin or clothing, and don''t let it splash onto natural stone like travertine.

I purchased two gallons of this product in December to remove a clog from my main line. I applied the product in the lowest drain in the house, last thing before bed. I even shut off the water lines to all of the sinks and toilets in the house to give it every chance to work for eight hours uninterrupted. Nothing. I suspect that root growth in the line was causing the problem, so I''m not surprised dumping a bunch of lye down there didn''t work. At any rate, Scotch Corp. did refund the full cost of both of the bottles I bought, though it did take several weeks to process.

This is the best product that I''ve used for the first time and it worked. I told the plumber, never mind to come and fix the problem. I gave him and my co-workers the name of your product: "main line cleaner". It''s real instant power! Thanks for saving me some mula. I know that my plumber was not happy but I am. (smile).

Vicks V3500N Cool Mist Humidifier 1.1 Gallon Save 27% Off

Vicks V3500N Cool Mist Humidifier 1.1 GallonI bought this recently and set it up right away. The high setting is loud for sensitive sleepers but if you need white noise to fall asleep the humidifier can double as a sleep machine. It puts out a nice cool mist on both high and low. PROS: It has a nice design -It is a solid performer -It is easy to fill CONS: The tank and the wick cover sometimes are easily disturbed -it is a little clunky -the grill on the fan cover disperses the mist mainly in one direction when it looks as if it would be omni-directional. FINAL THOUGHTS: I recommend it highly but wish the wick was cheaper to replace (around 5 bucks 2 times a year) but considering the other ones on the market it is still a good buy.

This is a good product. it has it''s pro''s and con''s. First, it is loud when you use it on full blast. So, either deal with the noise or just turn it on early before bedtime on a medium speed so the room has time to "get humid". Secondly, it''s annoying to have to take it apart everyday (which you have to do to prevent mold, but I believe it''s something you have to do with all of these things... not just this one). On a high note, it seemed to help and I haven''t had any problems with it mechanically. I''d purchase it again and recommend it to a friend.

PS: the noise is kind of a good thing for baby like white noise. I''m a light sleeper though and didn''t like it I kept it on medium all the time.

We bought this unit at Babies R Us to combat dry winter indoor air. We were specifically looking into cool mist versus a vaporizer because vaporiers will add heat to the room along with moisture. We chose this unit because it uses evaporation to put the correct amount of moisture into the air instead of "spray" moisture into the air like other units. Filters last 3 months, although they appear dirty after a couple of uses we found out (after calling) that that is supposed to happen and it does not mean that they shouldn''t be used. The tank is easy to fill and carry and the units fan adds that pleasant "white" noise that I actually found soothing. This unit is great if you want to take the guesswork out of using a humidifier. Will buy another for the living area.

I just bought this humidifier yesterday but I am very impressed with it already. My 5 month old has had a cough so bad it was making him throw up. Two nights ago (before the purchase) he had stayed awake almost the enitre night. Last night he slept great--9.5 hours with only waking up once. I turned the humidifier on the high speed which is loud, but this is a child who falls asleep to the vacuum cleaner. I have to say the room got cool but it sure helped a ton. Also it ran for 10 hours and still had water left, but we also have good water here in Memphis so I guess the length of time it runs has to do with the water condition. It was also very easy to open and fill with water. I love this product already.

I have had my filter for 1 year and use it only in the winter to counteract the dry heat. Last winter I ran through 3 filter for the season, and this winter it looks like I will do the same. I want to consider a second one for my upcomming baby, but I am trying to see it there are any other better on the filters. The filters are $8-9 a piece. They grow mold very quickly. They last 3 weeks to a month. It is very quiet, feels good, and works great on my sinuses. But keep your nose alert for the mold smell, and prepare your pockets for the filters.

BONUS PACK! Joyoung JYDZ-17D Easy-Clean Automatic Hot Soy Milk Maker with FREE Soybean Bonus PackThe product arrived quickly in mint condition. I instantly fell in love with my new toy and the little bag of soy included in the box. It tastes so much better than the ones I picked up from the grocery store.

The soy milk made from the machine tastes so smooth and fresh; can''t believe I''m making it from home every morning!

I have also recommended the product to friends and colleagues!

This machine is great! I have been making my own soymilk and tofu for several years now. It was always a messy and time consuming proposition, involving multiple pots and pans, a food processor, filters and such. Plus it required several hours of just waiting for the soy beans to soak. This machine goes from dry beans to milk in less than twenty minutes! Only thing you need to supply is the soybeans! Ok, you may want to have a muslin filter bag to get out the finer soy bean grounds. Yes, you can soak the beans before hand. I haven''t really noticed a difference in flavor, soaked v. dry.

The instruction booklet is a bit vague, being translated from another language. Just go on line to find other recipes for soymilk makers. Besides soymilk, you can make many other ''milks'' , corn, rice multi-grain. Just give it a shot.

Hario Coffee Dripper V60 Size 01 White Ceramic

Hario Coffee Dripper V60 Size 01 White CeramicI purchased the Hario V60 01 ceramic pourover dripper along with the appropriate Hario filters, Buono kettle, and a Skerton (a Hario-splosion!) and am so pleased I could burst. I''m still working out the appropriate grind setting on the Skerton, but even so the coffee I''ve gotten from the pourover is just awesome. The quality is what you would expect: ceramic like a nice coffee mug. There are also ridges along the sides that keep the filter from plastering itself to the walls, preventing clogging since the coffee can run along the ridges instead of being forced to go all through the center bottom. The only problem I have is that I now want to spend more money to get the V60 02 and a carafe to make bigger batches of coffee!

Please be sure to get the right filters (i.e. specifically for pourover, and ideally the Hario brand) because, like in previous reviews, the filters are made to support the design of the dripper and the V60 is just one big hole on the bottom. If you use a filter that isn''t designed to support the water and coffee, you''ll probably experience ripped filters often. I suppose you might be able to double-up! May be worth doing the math to see if twice the number of Melitta or other filters cost less than the $12 for 100 Hario filters.

Also, it does take time to make pourover, so if you don''t have 10 minutes to make coffee when you want it, it''s probably not what you want.

brewmethods.com has some really good videos showing pourover (and other!) methods if you want to see it before you buy.

I''ve stopped using my french press and my aero-press because I like the cleanup and taste. I use the Hario Buono Drip Kettle with the small spout to pour hot water over this dripper.

Setup:

1. Weigh the beans with a OXO Good Grips Stainless Food Scale with Pull-Out Display and grind with a Bodum Bistro Electric Burr Coffee Grinder, Black.

2. 21 grams of beans for 340 grams of water. Grind size is fine, but not like espresso.

3. Water temp 190-200F off the boil.

4. Water should be poured in the center (quarter size area)

5. The mug and and the hario v60 should be on the scale to measure the amount of water you add.

Brew Recipe

1. Boil water and pour into hario kettle.

2. Wet the filter and heat up the cup for ~10 seconds. (dump water in sink)

3. Pour 40 grams of water to pre-wet the grinds.

4. Stir and wait ~30 seconds

5. Pour 300 grams and final stir. (~2:00 2:30 minutes:seconds)

Add hot milk or hot water to dilute to your preferred strength.

I''ve used a plastic one-cup Melitta for a year or so. Bought it while travelling, staying with non-coffee drinkers, and desperate for a good cup of coffee. When I returned home, I continued to use it ''cause I loved the simplicity of it.

But I really hate plastic.

When I read about the Hario dripper on the Real Simple website and found it came in a ceramic version, I immediately ordered it.

And yay! It arrived intact, pretty as the picture, with the filters I ordered. Only thing was, THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE ALL IN JAPANESE, and there were plenty of them! Well, OK, there was a picture of the thing with a few arrows. But I had to assume, with all those Japanese instructions, there had to be more to this thing than meets the eye.

Now, with the Melitta, I''d pour water in the middle to get the grounds wet, then fill up the filter, use a tablespoon to push the grounds down to the bottom, let it drain down, then fill it with water again. The coffee tasted fine to me. I just wanted something that wasn''t plastic.

If the Hario promised to be any better, I decided on my own (after reading a bunch of reviews and intuiting from them how to use it) that I''d pour the water slowly and constantly down the middle and hope for the best. So that''s what I do, and the cup of coffee I get is great. I think it''s better than the one I get with the Melitta; it certainly takes more work.

But I''m subtracting a star for the deficit in instructions. I shouldn''t have to guess how to use this device.

After using plastic drippers for over 20 years I decided to try to to find a more elegant solution that doesn''t utilize plastic. I experimented with various ceramic drippers. One that I purchased was so large and top heavy, it kept falling over and was awkward to use. I gave up on the search until I stumbled on this dripper that I saw in a magazine under a "cool products" type of section. The product they were hyping was actually something else but they were using this dripper. I decided to order it and give it a try. It is a nice size, more reasonable for one cup than the one I had purchased previously. I also bought the Hario filters, which are pointed, and essential to using with this dripper. It has been a really good experience and I love the quality. I did not like pouring hot water onto plastic but for years it seemed there were no alternatives. I also realized for my entire use of hand pour coffee, I had been pouring incorrectly. I had been doing larger pours instead of short control pours. This has also made a huge difference in the taste of my coffee -the same coffee I have been drinking for over 20 years. This dripper simply feels like a more elegant solution to my coffee making and I am very happy with it. BUY THE POINTED FILTERS FOR BEST RESULTS!

This review applies specifically to the 01 model Hario, the one-cup cone. There are plenty of on-line videos about pour-overs, all of which use multi-cup versions of the Hario. Great for learning the basics. However, the small size of this one presents some unique challenges.

1. Grind is critical, or Avoiding Spit and Donuts. Because of the dime-sized drain hole of the Hario and the small volume of grounds, getting your grind right is critical. Grind too coarse and the water runs right through the coffee. The bloom will be white and consist of large bubbles (the Spit). Grind too small and the water goes through too slowly. As you pour into the center, you''ll push the bloom to the edges with a murky brown hole on the center (the Donut). Perfection will get you a bloom that looks like cinnamon on cream foam covering all the grounds.

2. Ground volume is critical, or Too Much is Just Right. My wife and I have decided that we need more than a tablespoon of grounds to get the right amount of oomph into the cup. At one level tablespoon and the proper grind, we hit the desired three-minute pour and rendered wonderful fruit with floral overtones but alas, too little body. So we''re going to bump the grounds to a tablespoon and a half. YMMV.

3. Brew target, or the Carafe at the Old Ball Game. As I''ve grown older, my x-ray vision has begun to fail, so a ceramic mug is OOQ to brew into. We also decided that as attractive as the matching Hario carafe is, a 12-oz Ball jar makes a great target. Clear glass with two ounce intervals embossed into the glass, perfect size for the filter cone. When you''re brewing one cup at a time, do you seriously want to measure cold water into your kettle in 6-oz amounts, heat it up, and do the pour-over? I don''t. I want to be able to pour-over a cup for myself after I''ve made one for my wife so we can share at least part of the coffee together.

You''ll know when you''e got it right it makes a great cup.

Sc Johnson #70091 Sb Toilet Cleaning Gel

Sc Johnson #70091 Sb Toilet Cleaning GelWe''ve had this product in action in two of our bathrooms for a few days now. It seems to do a decent job of keeping the toilet clean but it unfortunately smells atrocious. The smell is also VERY strong, to the point that we feel unable to continue using it. I''m guessing we will end up throwing away the remainder of the gel. I cannot wait until it wears off and our bathroom stops stinking.

If they made this in an unscented or made the smell about 100 times less potent it would probably be a fine product, but the smell really is a show stopper, it''s that bad.

I popped in here to review this product because I love the concept. Love the ease of use and think it does a fab job of keeping the bowl clean. At the end of the week, if there''s any left, you can swish it around the bowl for additional cleaning. Yes, this scent is rather odd--I had to get used to it. I''m going to try the citrus scent next. Very easy to use, compact, and I think it''s a winner!

I bought this product a few days ago. After the requisite pre-cleaning, I applied it to the toilet bowl in my master bathroom. My entire master bathroom and LARGE master bedroom now reek of bleachy toilet cleaner smell. I hate it, I won''t use it anywhere else in my home and I wouldn''t recommend it to anyone. Unless you like that cleansery smell, DON''T USE THIS PRODUCT.

Not only does this do nothing to clean the toilet, but it also has a strong unnatural almost toxic scent to it. It is like a Glades candle gone wrong. It activates my gag reflex when I walk into my small bathroom. I imagine if I stayed in the bathroom longer, the smell would also give me a headache.

Each glob of gel also lasts less than a week long, so you will finish this stick in about a month. I am a huge fan of scrubbing bubbles cleansers, but this was a huge disappointment.

Essick Air H12-400HB 3-Speed Whole House Evaporative Console Humidifier, Oak BurlMine is going on its 3rd year and still going strong. I replace the wick twice a season due to the hard water I have. I have mine upstairs between all the bedrooms and on the lowest speed it is very quiet. It has no problem keeping at least the upstairs at a comfortable humidity all winter long.

I have used this unit for two years and it has performed flawlessly. Our well water is naturally soft and I have replaced the evaporator wick just once a year. I have used the fan on setting one and the humidity setting about half until it gets so cold out that it builds up on the windows and I reduce accordingly. We heat with a wood fired furnace. We add bacteria treatment with every fill. I highly recommend this machine.

The walls of the unit are very thin/flimsy panels of plastic. When we opened the box, one complete corner was broken so the base coudn''t even be put together. Additionaly, one end wall panel had a big cr tack in it as well. I''d done extensvie research on home humidifiers and other than the Essick brand there just isn''t much out there to choose from. None of the Essick brand humidifiers get very good reviews/ratings. I took a chance on this one and unfortunately it has to be returned. Not taking another chance on the Essick brand. Our previous console humidifier finally died after about 30 years of great service. Absolutely no comparision to the inferior brands offered today.

I bought this product nearly 11 months ago -not from amazonand I have been so helpful against a very dry place (13%-40% humidity level). It helped me so much against my allergies that show up only under dry weather conditions and already saved my neck since I can breath so well with this product. It has 3 speed levels and a humidity sensor. I use first speed level -and it is enough most of the time-. It expels humid air in a uniform way and lasts like 13 hours per refill. This gave me enough time to sleep well. Notice, my apartment is small but for its size this humidifier is very good. I used other smaller ones (that doesn''t have a big fan like the ESSICK) and no one worked for me.

Rainshow''r Series 3000 Crystal Ball for the Bath Save 36% Off

Rainshow''r Series 3000 Crystal Ball for the BathFirst of all this product definately works! I can tell a difference in the health of my skin and hair after only a few uses and i can even open my eyes under the bath water. something i could not do before because they were burned by the chlorine. However, this product is a little more trouble than its product description lets on. According to the description: "The ball can be swished in the water for 2 minutes or placed under the faucet" but the instruction manual clearly states: "The crystal ball was not designed to be hung from the bath tub faucet." Also, it states that the ball must be swirled through the tub for 5 to 8 minutes before entering. yes, sit by the tub and play with this ball for about 8 minutes every time you want to take a bath! Also, if you want to take a bubble bath or use bath oils or espon salts, you must wait until the tub is filled and the crystal ball is used before adding them, which pretty much means no bubble baths, how is the bubble bath going to foam if you can''t poor it under the running water? Don''t get me wrong this product works, just make sure you have a few extra minutes before your bath every time you want to use it.

I have CONSIDERED bath / shower filters in the past but never really looked into the issues with chlorine in water you bathe / shower with until recently. It may seem logical but I was shocked when I learned that your skin can absborb more chlorine through your skin than what you would by drinking chlorinated water! Here I was concerned about the water we drink so we got a Kangen Water system and yet I did nothing to the water we clean our bodies and soak in.

The FIRST time I used this, I noticed a difference in the water. Even my son noticed a difference in his skin, telling me that it was no longer itchy from the ''hot'' (warm) water. It''s hard to conceptualize if you''ve never experienced it before but it turns bath water into ''silky'', smooth bath water. As I was swirling the ball around before my children got in their bath, I noticed that just by sticking my hand in the now dechlorinated water, that my hand was SMOOTH and soft without any residue or oiliness.

If any of you have ever drank 9.5 alkaline Kangen water, water spun for an hour in a Vitalizer Plus machine or even bottled EON water, you''ll know the difference in the ''texture'' and ''feel'' of the water. It''s silkier, smoother, sweeter and ''thicker''...almost like a fine, full bodied wine. The TEXTURE (obviously we didn''t drink it) of this water is almost identical.

It makes your hair and skin totally smooth and silky! In fact, I loved it so much that the very next day after using this for the first time, I bought myself a shower filter!! And now, I''ll be buying a shower filter for every shower head in our home.

I have used both (shower filter and bath filter) now and personally, I THINK that the bath filter creates a smoother, silkier and thicker water because you can leave the ball in for longer vs the water simply running through the shower at a much faster rate. With that said, I still do love both and will NEVER go back!!! :-) In fact, if we travel, this ball is coming with us!!

For interested individuals: I bought an Aquasana shower filter...I bought the version that ALSO removes chloramines as well as chlorine. It''s my UNDERSTANDING that some cities use both chlorine AND ammonia to create chloramines because it''s cheaper than using all chlorine. It''s also my understanding that chloramines are more toxic for our bodies than just plain chlorine, although I am not thrilled at the prospect of chlorine leaching into our pores either!

YES, you DO have to take a few minutes to swirl the ball around in the water but it''s no big deal...I swirl it, then my children take turns swirling it then they get in. The directions DO say that you have to swirl the ball around for 5-8 minutes and is not effective if you try to simply hold it under the water spout because the water passes through it too quickly but considering the difference in our skin, it''s worth it!!!

I was in a hurry today and I put the ball in the water as the bath was filling up then we started swirling it in the water when the water was almost full. No biggie.

Get it, you will NOT regret it!! Oh! and this vendor ships fast too!! :-)

EDIT TO REVIEW / UPDATE on Jan 17, 2009. Since posting this, I have learned a lot about water filteration systems for drinking and bathing. While I still do love this bath filter, I don''t feel that it provides ADEQUATE filteration from the chlorine. Since approx 70-80% of chlorine disappates into the air when it comes out of the faucet, it turns into a toxic gas that quickly spreads but is slow to degrade. So although your water now has approx 20-30% chlorine that it had that this bath filter could take care of, you are now breathing fumes from the chlorinated water. So although I still like this bath filter as it makes the water super soft, I no longer feel that it''s adequate to rely on to filter out gaseous chlorine vapors. If you have any questions regarding drinking & shower filters, feel free to contact me.

DO not buy this. It doesn''t work. I wasn''t noticing any differences in my skin and decided to buy a pool chlorine test kit ($10) to see if it was actually removing the chlorine. It wasn''t!! Tested water both before and after the ball had been in the water for 30 minutes and pulled it around numerous times. Before the test my tap water chlorine was at a level 4 and after using the filter for 30 minutes it was at a level 3. It should have been at a level ZERO. I wouldn''t have believed it had I not done the chlorine test myself. Tested the filter on my water purifier after that and luckily that showed up with zero chlorine. Crummy way to waste $30. And we bought three of them. =(

I have a lot of chlorine in my water and found these chlorine balls that seemed like a great idea. The way they desribe them is that you hang it over the spigot so that the water runs through the ball then after your tub is full, swish it around for 2-3 minutes. Well, the instructions say to not let the water run through it and you have to swish it around in your tub for up to 8 minutes. I did this for the first few baths then just didn''t want to deal with 8 minutes of my life swishing the ball around. When I did take the time, I did notice a difference in my water but it''s just an inconvenience. I have a garden tub so I always think I have to swish a little longer because I have more water than the average tub. It''s been sitting on the side of my tub now unused for 3 months.

It''s okay not really sure how well it does with the chlorine without testing the water. If you follow the instructions of "dragging" the ball in the water for 5-8 minutes it gets old after awhile.

If you are a prepper I advise you purchase the Mighty Mite system as it is portable.

Granite Gold Granite Gold Polish GG0043

Granite Gold Granite Gold 24 ounce Polish GG0043After reading all of the great reviews i thought this would be a great product. i have black granite counter tops and this is one of the worst products i have used. i actually cant think of anything that did a worse job. there is no shine. i even thought maybe i did not use it correctly and have used it several times and still no shine and counter tops look dull. i almost feel as if all of the reviews were left by loving family members of manufacturer.

I have tried many granite cleaners and this is the best. The counters are so sleek and shiny that my cats keep sliding when they jump on them. The daily cleaner keeps the counters streak and spot free and the polish takes very little effortmy 9 year old loves to use it.

I have never been so impressed with a cleaning product! This Granite Polish has made my Emerald Pearl Granite look like the day it was installed. It feels like a car does just after it has been waxed! Now that I have used this I am going to throw out all my old granite cleaners and polishes!

First off, I find all the positive 5-star reviews on this product a little suspect. They all sound like, "Wow, what a great product! I also use the cleaner." Maybe they got some of their employees to write some reviews and made sure to mention the cleaner.

Anyhow, I bought it anyways and I''m fairly pleased. It goes on easy, has a slight lemon smell to it, and then buffs of pretty easily. My 5K worth of brazilian green granite counter tops are about a year old and they were starting to look a bit dull. Just weren''t as shinny as they used to be. This product definitely shines them up and gives them a smooth feeling, also making them easier to clean and keeping food from sticking. It''s certainly not a glossy armor all like shine, so I can see why some people with very dark counter tops might not be impressed. But overall I was satisfied with the easy application and the noticeably improved look of my granite. Unfortunately I don''t have any products to compare to.

Very important, don''t forget to seal your granite first, and don''t use the cheap stuff for this. I picked up some Miracle Sealants Superseal from home depot for about $40. Pricey, but seals really well. Liquids bead up and can''t penetrate the stone. You have to do this about once a year.

Hope that helps.

Jura-Capresso 13299 Impressa Z6 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center Save 25% Off

Jura-Capresso 13299 Impressa Z6 Automatic Coffee and Espresso CenterI recently purchased the new Z6 after seeing one at William''s Sonoma around Christmas. I resisted the temptation to purchase until a friend of mine called and told me he found one under the Christmas tree! We both purchased the Capresso 1500 about 3 years ago and thought those were the "Cat''s Meow". Now fast forward to 2007 and the Z6 is here as the super automatic on steroids.

After unpacking I sat down and watched the included DVD twice. Once with my wife and once alone as I set up the machine. After you get through the initial setup and programming the machine is very easy to operate and maintain. Making a coffee drink is as simple as pushing one of 8 drink buttons on the front panel. I like the idea of the thermal milk storage tank but it''s recommended that you don''t store milk in it after use. I find this a little inconvenient to have to pour the milk into another container. With my previous C1500 I just put the plastic milk jug in the refrigerator and used it the next day.

I bought this unit to replace my C1500 for two major reasons. The first was my C1500 struggled to make a really hot coffee drink. I found myself drinking the beverage too quickly to avoid it getting cold or putting it into the microwave to heat it back up. The Z6 makes a hotter beverage that is much improved but still could be a few degrees hotter in my opinion. The second reason I purchased the Z6 was to get a bigger cup under the spouts. The C1500 was limited in what size cup I could place under the spouts and the Z6 allows me to put virtually any reasonable sized cup under the spout.

The Z6 is a beautiful piece to look at sitting on your counter and will be the envy of many a guest. However it has a chrome finish which appears durable but I would caution you to take extra precautions not to scratch the finish as it would be permanent. I place a paper towel on the lower tray when using ceramic type mugs to avoid scratching.

Update on 05/26/2008

I would like to say that the Z6 has been performing flawlessly for the past year and a half. As long as you perform the routine maintenance the Z6 will provide many years of trouble-free performance. I''ve also been putting the thermal milk container in the refrigerator with milk in it with no issues.

I bought the Z6 after my refurbished Capresso C3000 broke down after 3 years. I had liked my Capresso C3000 so I thought I would go with Jura''s top of the line machine (Jura bought out Capresso and now all the machines are called Jura) I had this machine now for about a year and I have to say its is not worth the price $3,600. I listed the pros and cons that I found with the machine.

Pros

1) Looks Great. It is the Rolls Royce of coffee machines.

2) The Espresso/Coffee is good. (Not Excellent, and don''t tell me about using diffrent beans I have, its not like I''m using folgers.

2) The Steamed/frothed milk attachment produces excellent results.

3) One touch button to make cappuccino/Lattes. (Nice to impress friends)

4) Has a timer for when to turn on and off so you don''t need to wait around for the initial warmup time when you first start the machine.

Cons

1)The metal plate where the cup sits scratches very easily.

2)You can only fit a normal size coffee mug (8 oz)under the nozzle. You cannot deviate from this size at all. No travel mugs or slightly tall mugs. Same height restrictions for the cappuchino/Latte attachment.

3) The hotwater dispenser trickles out hot water. It takes almost 1 and half minutes to fill 8 oz of hot water. Its quicker to ''Nuke'' the same amount of water in the microwave for tea.

4) You need to clean the machine with special tablets and they cost about $20 for 6. You will more than likely go thru 1 tablet every 2 months or at least 6 in a year and more if heavily used. Also theres no way around this since the machines displays ''Clean'' and beeps every time you turn it on until you go thru the cleaning process.

5) Also the water filter. This costs about $20 and needs to be changed about every 3 months depending on the use. If you don''t use the filter then you will have to descale the machine every 6 months or so but that also depends on the the water hardness in your area.

6) The electric cord is a fairly decent length which is good thing but its not retractable which is a pain. The C3000 had a retractable cord, so you would only pull out the amount of cord needed and the rest would be unseen. With the Z6 I have my plug right behind the machine on my countertop and have about of 2 feet of cord I need to hide.

7) The silver front is also just plastic and it is not made of any type of metal.

8) The rinse feature (which was a button on the front panel of the C3000) is buried deep in the menu with the Z9. So you have to press the Dial, then turn the dial to go to maintenance then turn it again until you find rinse then you have to press the button once to rinse the coffee spout then again for the espresso attachment (even if you didn''t use it). This is a major pain to do and time consuming especially in the morning. So you tend not to rinse the machince as much as you should. This affects the taste of the coffee because little bits of the old grounds get mixed in with the new ones. On my old capresso I would press the rinse button before I made my coffee and then again after I made it so it would stay cleaner longer and not affect the taste of my coffee.

So, based on these facts i would have to say that for the price I would expect more. It is a nice machine but you could purchase the Jura E8 for the 1/3 the price and it would do everything the Z6 does (Except the one touch cappuccino/Latte) which is overrated anyways. Also there are more fully automatic machines entering the market with almost the same features but lower the price. When I did my research for this machine almost everybody said it was the greatest thing since sliced bread but after paying $3600 who would admit it wasn''t all that?

UPDATE:2012-01-12

So had this machine for a few years now and so far I''m not impressed. The front plastic has warped off near the bottom tray since it comes in contact with water when making coffee/rinsing. The tray that you pull out to clean the grinds an empty the water does not fit that well and the now and then I get the ''Tray missing'' error. When I was cleaning the machine I got a ''error 8'' message and was like ok so what do you want me to do? So I turned off the machine because nothing else worked and had to restart the cleaning process. Pardon my French but that really sucks because the cleaning tablets are not cheap and happened 2 out of 5 cleanings I did. Also the price on the water filter cartridges have gone up by at least 10 dollars. I cannot find anything at the price I bought these at before. I really wanted to like this machine but man for a premium price I don''t think anybody has to deal with these issues.

Buy Jura-Capresso 13299 Impressa Z6 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center Now

I am giving a review of the Z5....not the Z6. I believe the insides are very similar if not identical and that most of the changes were cosmetic. I have had the Z5 for about a year and have been very pleased.

Pros:

Excellent coffee & cappuccino. You can tweak the machine twenty different ways. I think it is not as good as the best coffee joints but it is pretty close. The convenience of waking up and hitting a button can not be overstated. You will hooked forever after a week. It has worked flawlessly since I bought it. If two people in a household go to Starbucks every day, just buy this and it will pay for itself in no time.

Cons:

The biggest con is the coffee temperature. You will see this pop up again and again in reviews. Buy yourself a very well insulated coffee cup and preheat the cup by adding hot water from the machine and letting in sit for two minutes. The cup will then be hot and won''t suck out the energy from the added coffee.

All in all..when my Z5 dies I will most likely replace it with a Z6.

Unfotunately for others, I think I bought up their last three filters.

Easy installation and sturdy construction. The hose is longer than most which is important since I give my dog a bath in the shower! We no longer smell the chlorine, our skin is no longer dry and itchy and hair has more life. My only complaint is that the shower head is so high -a stretch to reach for someone short. However positives far outweigh the one negative so we have ordered one for the other shower.

I wish I liked this shower head more, but it''s pretty good for the price.

Pros:

-Multiple settings

-Built-in water filter

-Detachable Hose

Cons:

-It''s made out of plastic, not chrome

-The handle holder does not swivel at all--I had to purchase a separate ball joint because the water was shooting over my head

-Misting feature loses all the water heat

If I could find another detachable filtered shower head for the same price, I probably would buy it instead. This one isn''t bad, but I''m not really in love with it either.

This is my 2nd Sprite Filtered Shower Handle. Bought the first one 1.5 years ago for my master bath; product does what it''s supposed to. Water feels less harsh and odor is gone. My master has gone through 3 filters and each time the filter starts out bright gold...after six months the filter is black!

The only con I have is the lack of active spray nossels. There are several settings, 1 for outer spray then 1 for inner harder spray and final is a jet spray. I has able to finagle the selector just between the outer and middle spray which gives a nice combination of light to medium jets; I just wish this was an option. Maybe 5 selections with 2 being a combination of the three jets.

Great product for those with hard or smelly water. Oh, I''ve also noticed my skin is much softer as well as my hair is more lively.

Want Sprite Ageless Filtered Shower Handle in Chrome Discount?

This shower head is good. It doesn''t swivel so if you are short and your shower head mounts high, you aren''t going to be able to decrease the angle at all. No big deal, but could be better with a swivel action.

The main issue with this shower head is that it is not all chrome, the holder for the shower head is plastic. This is a terrible design for something that is in the heat of the shower on at least a daily basis and for something that is supposed to withstand the remove/replace function of a shower handle back to its home base! The plastic holster part broke in two like a wish bone. We have had to glue this thing about 6 times since we purchased it. I am planning to see if the company will replace it but who knows.
