I agree with other reviewers'' comments--a good system, a little pricey, but low-hassle. I do find the measuring-cup container for the concentrate tricky to use because its stream tends to pull back from the spout, so it''s easy to miss the cup on the near side. These are my only reasons for a less-than-five review.I''ve seen little discussion of kinds of coffee to use, but I like darker roasts made with the Filtron much better than with traditional methods, and I can more easily leave out the milk or cream from cold-brewed coffee.
Being able to take concentrate along makes it easy to make great iced coffee and latte while traveling.

I would have given this air purifier 5-stars except for one small detail. Out of the two times that I''ve ordered the Austin Air Machines (one larger, full size unit at first, and then two of the smaller Junior sizes because I liked it so much), each time I had to arrange for a return and exchange immediately upon receipt because the motors "whined" (teeth clenching, nails on a blackboard type whine). Since these units are used in active living areas (i.e., family room) or where you sleep, it''s important that the unit is as unobtrusive as possible. When it''s working as designed, it does just that. In fact, it''s almost a soothing sound when it''s running correctly. Plus, I really like the fact that you can run the units 24/7 without fear of the motor burning out (important when you''re in an allergy prone area like Florida). All in all, a wonderful purifier...really does the job well. I have two dogs and when you walk into my house now, it always smells fresh and my husband''s allergies have also improved with our using these. I just wish they''d do a better job of quality controlling at the manufacturing site. To have to return 2 out of 3 units purchased is not a good ratio. On the plus side, they make it as easy as possible on you for the returns. It''s only a matter of waiting longer for your working product to arrive. All in all, this product is good enough to hassle through a possible return/exchange.

I had a filter pitcher in the fridge at work, but I never knew who was using it, filling it, etc. eewwwwwww. This bottle fits in my brief case. We own five rentals so last year when we bought and furnished a new one we purchased 5 cans of the spray. I applied it to a corduroy Sofa Loveseat and kitchen and dining room chairs; honestly I didn''t know what to expect, but I followed the directions used four cans and off it went for a six month rental. I just got access to the home and although the unit was fairly dirty there e=were no stains or wear marks anywhere on any of the furniture; these were not the cleanest of people and I spent a lot of time cleaning the home. The best part of it was that I vacuumed the upholstery and it all came back looking like new.We have added another home and newly furnished it I ordered another five cans and coated a loveseat sofa chair kitchen chairs (4) dining room chairs (4) and two bar stools and I still have a can left.
I also found out that by coating the outdoor furniture wicker with cushions that not a bit of mildew built up during the 6 month period; we are hoping for the same results this year and I will update this post after this season.
It is easy to apply make sure it is well ventilated and wear a mask if you can. I hope you are as happy with the product as I am.
UPDATE: A little over a year ago we treated the aforementioned furniture a quick vacuum and a light refresher coat and they look like new; my thoughts are the same I think this is a great product.

Growing up I owned several pairs of white Keds and to keep them clean, my dad sprayed them with scotchgard. His pet peeve is dirty shoes and now (shockingly!) it''s mine as well. So when I recently bought a couple pairs of TOMS shoes in a lighter color, I immediately needed to spray them with Scotchgard to protect them from stains, just like my dad.Application and smell was exactly as I remembered, they dried fast, and did not affect the colored fabric of the shoes. The Scotchgard does exactly as advertised, I got them a little wet and the water beaded-up on the shoes fantastic!
Evidently I am not the best walker because my heels always have scuff marks on them (I assume from scuffing on each other) and with the Scotchgard protected shoes, they are easily wiped clean.

I used this product 4 years ago when I bought a couch. Sprayed all the surfaces that came in contact with the body. After 4 years, and 1 reapplication in between, no oil stains on the headrest and no dark marks on the hand rests. Family had spilled drinks & food on fabric which came out completely. If you are reading these reviews on coffee makers you, like me, are amazed at how nearly every maker has very mixed reviews. Why can''t a good standard coffee maker be made? My first drip coffee maker lasted 15 years, my second about 8 years but after reading many of the reviews, it appears it''s now common for makers to only last 2-3 years! I do like to grind my own beans and my previous coffee maker was a Melitta but it was mediocre in grinding and started to leak at the end of its 8 years. I decided this medium priced coffee maker without a coffee grinder was a good compromise on price and functionality. I have been using it for a month now and have been very impressed. The cone filters do give a better brew but only if you get coffee that is medium fine ground, many commercial coffees are coarse ground.Melitta also makes some coffee and I have found their Vienna Roast to be particularly good. I do believe that the setting on the machine allowing you to make stronger or weaker brews does work. It basically does a slower cycle if you want stronger coffee but again make sure you have medium fine ground coffee to make this work for you. For those of you who are fanatics about hot coffee, it stays plenty hot on the warmer, I had to actually change my setting to a cooler setting. My only criticism is the basket handle must be up when you insert it into the maker. Once you hear the basket snap then you fold down the handle. It took me several days to figure out why I was having difficulty with the basket. I would have given 5 stars had this feature worked better, but not a problem once you understand how to insert it correctly.
So after my frustration at researching coffee makers I am very happy with this one. Rest assured that I will update this review if I find the coffee maker doesn''t hold up over time... happy brewing!

I usually brew my coffee with Bialetti 6800 Moka Express 6-Cup Stovetop Espresso Maker with whole coffee beans ground by Bodum Bistro Electric Burr Coffee Grinder, Black. However, when we have guests, we need a regular coffee maker: I can''t brew enough coffee with Moka Express without running it 2-4 times and that just simply takes too long.
We used to have a braun coffee maker with served us well. When it started leaking, we had to look for an alternative. I was not too impressed with any of the cuisinarts and finally trimmed my selection down to this and Zojirushi coffee makers. While trying to decide, Woot.com had a Wolfgang Puck coffee maker on sale and I pulled the trigger. I shouldn''t have. When it arrived, I was let down by cheap-feeling plastics and "metals". The carafe had to be inserted with pressure and just right position to avoid spills. I had to send it back.
Then, this coffee maker price dropped to $50 and I had to try it. Am I ever glad that I did! Here are pros and cons:
PROS:
1. Makes a great cup of coffee. It''s not as good as Moka Express, but I''ve never found a drip coffee maker that even comes close. This one comes closer than any I''ve tasted. I only tried "Bold" mode, but you can also use "Regular" and "Robust" for lighter and darkest flavors respectively.
2. Coffee temperature is hot. I haven''t actually measured it, but it''s hotter than my braun and other cuisinarts I''ve tried. This adds to the taste of the coffee.
3. Carafe goes into the coffee maker without any fuss very smooth. Many coffee makers now use one of those round ball-like contact point between the carafe and the coffee maker. The problem with many of them is that the contact is awkward most of the time. This one fits smoothly.
4. Looks great on the counter. My finicky wife is satisfied with the looks that''s all I can ask. She says the plastic on the Wolfgang Puck was very cheap looking while this one looks descent. She''s the expert.
CONS:
1. This is slightly taller than other coffee makers. As other reviewers have mentioned, you may have to pull it out of under the cabinet in order to pour water into the bin.
2. There is no auto-shutoff. Not much of a problem for me.
3. When set at "Bold" setting, it does take longer to brew than I''m used to. "Robust" would certainly take even longer.
I would highly recommend this coffee maker just for the taste of the coffee. Other pros are bonus. :)

The reason for the title is due to this product being shown inaccurately on Amazon. The photo shows a stainless thermal carafe when indeed this is not the product being sold here. The thermal model is a 10-cup coffee maker while this is the 12-cup glass model. The seller was nice and made amends for the misleading page and my review of the product is in no way reflective of this incident. While true that the description does not state "thermal", I had looked at the other Melitta thermal 10-cup one and had selected this one because it was a 12-cup model. I think the coffee makers may be the same except for the carafe, the thermal being fewer cups because of the thickness of the carafe.The product is attractive and the controls being above the carafe ensures they will not get soaked in the event of a spill, which can happen with other makers where the controls are in front of the hot plate. The Braun machine I am replacing (broken carafe) was like this. I will be using the Braun as a comparison in this review.
The controls on the Melitta are simple: A large round button for turning the maker on and off with a red LED in the center to indicate status. A similar button to the left of the display selects the brew strength of Regular, Bold, or Robust, which is displayed in small text at the bottom of the blue-backlit display. There seems to be a noticeable difference in Regular and Bold. I have not tried Robust. Near the brew select button is a small button for the hot plate temperature for LO, MED, or HI. Unlike some people who sue fast food chains for making hot coffee, I like my coffee hot so I set this to "HI". The downside is that since I make only enough coffee for a single serving and forget to turn off the unit, it scorches the small amount that might be remaining in the carafe. This is because the hot plate remains on for two hours and is not adjustable. My older Braun unit (about 10 years now) has an adjustable hot plate timer from zero (instant off) to four hours in 1-minute increments. I don''t see why any programmable coffee maker today would not have this feature. The other small buttons are to set the clock and the auto-brew time. A small LED lights up to indicate that auto-brew is enabled.
Physically, the maker is fairly trim width-wise but is pretty tall. It is nearly 2 inches taller than my Braun and while it will fit below my cabinets, you can''t open the filler doors, so it has to remain out front of the cabinets. The flip-up doors are a bad design. The coffee area cannot be opened without also opening the water reservoir door as well. You can open the water door without open the coffee door, but not the other way ''round. This makes it possible to spill some coffee grounds into the water reservoir if you''re not very careful. The filter basket has a handle that swings up and the basket can be inserted only one way and the handle must be raised or the basket will not seat properly. I''m not certain of the reasoning behind this design but it isn''t a critical thing once you''re used to it.
The carafe is well-designed. It has a piece near the pouring spout inside the carafe that makes it a bit difficult for large hands to reach inside for cleaning, but it is a small price to pay for the way it pours, which is excellent. There is never any back-pouring of the coffee which I believe is why this piece is in the carafe. The lid will attempt to fall open when the carafe is nearly empty, but I prevent this now by keeping my thumb pressed lightly against the flipper part of the lid. It would have been nice if there had been a spring or more friction in the hinge to prevent this. The water level indicator matches the indicator on the reservoir perfectly. I''m not sure if Melitta has compensated for water loss in the filter and evaporation with these measurements. I typically pour a 16.9-oz. container of bottled water that fills my travel cup almost perfectly.
I purchased the whole bean Kicking Horse "Kick Ass" coffee with this and it''s pretty good. I like the Bold setting. I have also ordered a burr grinder and will delegate my Cuisinart blade grinder to spices only. So far, this coffee maker is satisfactory for my needs. I am hoping to be able to find the thermal carafe (if indeed it is compatible. The only thing is, it seems odd that the hot plate will still be on unless manually turned off.
P.S. For some reason, the Amazon link and page for this lists "Hamilton Beach" as the manufacturer, but it is a Melitta product.

I purchased this item after returning the stainless-steel carafe version (because the SS version leaked all the water out of the tank onto my counter). I was skeptical, but presumed that the SS one was simply defective.The glass version has worked out perfectly, and is the best drip coffee maker I have had in several years.
PROS:
Brew-strength selector-I like the "bold" setting-the coffee tastes great! No need to add extra coffee for a bolder flavor, the temp of the water automatically adjusts to create the perfect brew based on your selection.
Timer: easy to set the night before for hot coffee when you wake up
Auto-off: always a nice feature, also, unlike some others, you can turn the hot plate back on to reheat the pot. Other machines I have had will not allow repat-on without adding water to make a new pot.
Hot plate temp adjust: I live at altitude, so I really like being able to set the hot plate to "high" to actually keep the coffee HOT.
Carafe: it doesn''t leak or drip! It really doesnt! No more icky rag on the counter to catch drips.
CONS: (quite minor)
The filter basket is a bit shallow; this is the first coffee maker I''ve had that you really must fold the filter edges over . If you don''t fold them, it doesn''t fit very well.
The LCD is quite bright-doesnt'' bother me as I don''t sleep near the kitchen. Would be an issue in a dorm-room or a small apartment where the LCD is visible from sleeping areas.
Overall this is a great coffee maker with all the features you need, plus some really nice ones like the brew strength.
The price is reasonanble . Definitely beats the Mr. Coffees and Cuisinarts out there.

I''ve had this Melitta coffee maker for about 2 months. It works fine and makes great tasting coffee, that is when the included carafe isn''t broken!!!One month ago, my mother in law broke the carafe glass when she bumped the carafe against the toaster. From speaking with her, she was clearly shocked that the glass broke, but given that I didn''t see this happen, I figured it was an accident and that she was being klutzy, nuff said. I ordered a new carafe directly through Melitta that cost $25. Also, since this is a custom non-standard carafe, this carafe is ONLY available through Melitta and you cannot purchase a replacement anywhere else. When you call Melitta, they actually don''t sell this carafe, they will give you a different phone number to call to order the part through 3rd party vendor.
So going forward, a few weeks go by and we''re happily making coffee again. Then, this past Saturday the carafe broke again and this time I saw it happen! Basically, I sat the carafe down on the counter, it moved about one inch back and bumped the other side of counter wall with VERY minimal force. I mean, it barely touched it. In disbelief, I saw the glass crack right in front of my eyes. The glass on this carafe is extremely weak and will break at some point unless you treat it like a $5,000 Faberge egg! You know, I''ve been drinking coffee for many years and this $50 Melitta coffee maker replaced a Mr. Coffee that I used for 8 years without problem and cost $20. I never had any issues like this with that Mr. Coffee or any other coffee maker I''ve owned, just this Melitta, so nothing has changed with regard to how I handle the carafe and I''m not being careless with it.
To finish the story, I again called Melitta customer service (only available on weekdays) about my experience and they told me to take a hike. In other words, there is nothing they could do and told me to buy another carafe for $25 (which would make my investment in this product over $100!). After this conversation with Melitta customer service, I''m calling it a $75 loss and I''m going back to buy a more inexpensive Mr. Coffee with a carafe that doesn''t come with a standard shatter feature!

I just purchased the Enviromate TANDEM EV1 and will be doing a full review on this product. Hopefully it will remain a 5 star when I''m done. I purchased this in hopes it will cut hours of cleaning time down and actually do a better job than other vapor cleaning machines on the market. This one has an extractor which was the selling point for me. You can control the steam vapor for more delicate surfaces like wall to wall vs tile etc. I love the idea of cleaning with steam vapor but don''t like the fact you need to vacuum later to remove your dirt. This is an all in one machine! It will take a while for my review. I ordered this product from Canada directly because the additional tool I wanted which was the Turbo Brush Tool was not available on Amazon. I am really looking forward to using this product!Sept 29,2012 I have had a chance to use the Tandem EV1 and I am very happy with this machine. It does everything it says it does and is built solid. Easy to use. There are many attachments with it. I used it on my wall to wall which takes a while but the end result is beautiful. Tile cleans up perfectly and it saved me tons of time and my back! The boiler beeps when you need to add water so you don''t have to worry about overheating. The machine won''t produce steam if water level is low so it''s designed for safety. The hose isn''t cool to touch but not hot either. It''s similar to my Jiffy Clothes Steamers hose. I can''t say enough about the quality. The parts all fit correctly and have locks to keep them in place. It seems like it will last a long time. I tried it on glass mirrors, tile and carpeting so far. I''ll detail the car with ease as well now too. I will also use it in the garage on the concrete floor later instead of bleach mopping. The steam can be used with different attachments to break down spills in your garage but use a mop to clean up solvents, oil and gas. Solvents in your machine would ruin it. I love the turbo brush tool that I payed extra for. It speeds up cleaning wall to wall in some areas. It also comes with a nice accessory bag. Customer service is excellent too. SMALL SLEEK LITTLE MACHINE! Oh Yes...one more thing. I didn''t use 1 cleaner and my things look better than ever. Amazing! That will save a ton.
10/03/12 Used on indents in carpet from previous furniture and their gone. I tried on a puppy pee accident. Blotted and pre treated with Natures Miracle while setting up machine. I used the Tandem for 10 minutes on and off then finished with Jiffy fabric freshener and repeated with the Tandem. Smells fresh now. I''ll check it tomorrow. Puppy urine is tough to get out no matter what so I won''t be suprised if my dog still smells it. While steam cleaning wall to wall position the tank by hand. Pulling on the hose line causes it to pull out of it''s socket. No harm done...no steam shooting out anywhere so it was fine. The wheels are very nice and work on smooth surfaces great. Might be helpful to put a locking switch on that part too but it isn''t a big deal. Play with the tools and find your favorite one. There are quite a number of them. The smaller tools give you more suction power so tight corners come clean easy. You can freshen up mattresses with this too. If you happen to have an unfortunate infestation I''m sure this will take care of it. It would definitely boil a flea, bedbug or a louse on the move. YUCK! Hopefully the price will come down so everyone can afford one easily though! It was like purchasing three or four steam cleaners at once. I have gone through six in 18 years so I have spent a ton in products due to kids and pets.
Tips: Let the vapor sit for a little bit before extracting. It cleans much better that way. Great on Oriental rugs. My choice for attachments for stairs and scatter rugs has to be part #30. It''s edge is flexable and did a quicker job on the stairs. It''s small so it also increases the extraction quite a bit. For spots I found leaving the vacuume on while steaming worked fast.
The machine is a very well built. It generates steam in only a few minutes. The suction power of the vacuum seems very adequate to pull up the water. This makes for a very short drying time. Cleaning the machine after use is also simple. The design allows for a very thorough wipe down to keep the machine in top working order.
The numerous upholstery attachments is where this machine really excels. I cleaned two swivel rockers that had numerous inset buttons on the back of the chairs. The alternate attachments made even these hard to reach areas come out looking great.
In cleaning larger areas like carpets, the machine seems to lack in keeping up with adequate steam. But if you slow your cleaning strokes down it does a pretty decent job. Using my old upright cleaning machine always left more water in the carpet than I liked. This will never be a problem with this machine. I was amazed at how much carpet area I could clean with so very little water.
It would be helpful if the owner''s operating manual would include cleaning hints or techniques to get the most out of this machine with the varies types of cleaning surfaces it can tackle.
All in all, I would definitely recommend this machine. The quality of the vacuum/boiler and attachments are well made and in comparison to the price of other steam cleaners is worth considering this machine at its price.

Do not buy it. It does not work well. Parts are falling apart. Stem flow is bad. Have to stop every 30 seconds and wait for the steam to get back. Impossible to move around even on a bare floor. Chemex just makes sense. It''s a simple design that comes in different sizes. You must use the Chemex filters, which are easy to fold into the required conical shape. Directions give a 5oz. water to 1 T. coffee ratio (I like my coffee a bit stronger, though). I have instant hot water (they recommend 200F), and find this temp works perfectly, so I don''t have to heat my water in a kettle first. Chemex really highlights the blooming process in making coffee, and this is such an important step for flavor extraction.
It really makes a smooth, rich cup of coffee (granted, the quality of coffee depends on the quality of beans you use--and grind immediately before brewing!). I bought the glass lid, and please know that it DOES NOT FIT THIS SMALL MODEL. Cleanup is super easy--just rinse and invert to air dry.

Also invested in four boxes of filters to stock up for the year; all-in that''s a lot of money for "morning joe", but I prescribe to the old notion that life is too short for bad coffee.
Yep, the coffee is great. But the clean-up process is extremely annoying in that you must untie the leather thong and remove the wooden collar sections to fully do the job. You can just rinse the interior after each use but then exterior stays a little greasy. Chemex advises that the wood should not get wet. Still the yield from the system was good enough to warrant the extra bother.
Then, after three weeks use, I noticed a growing fissure/crack in the glass right in the notched channel in the pouring spout. I''ve returned the item for credit and replaced it with the Chemex 3 cup carafe with the *glass* handle.
I like that one much better already, both for cleaning ease and because the glass handle does not heat up. The wooden collar insulated the carafe okay, but still got pretty hot to the touch.
I''m following the Chemex''s instructions to the letter so I''m assuming the glass cracking was just one of those things. Should this new one crack within the first few months for any reason other than mishandling I may abandon the system. I hope not because it makes fine coffee and I''m a tough judge.

Years ago a friend of mine showed me how to make the best tasting coffee. He took a plain piece of paper towel from a kitchen roll and laid it on the top of a regular coffee mug. He put a couple of spoonfuls of ordinary ground coffee in the towel and slowly poured hot water over the coffee until the mug was full. It was a delicate and somewhat messy operation, but it was the best coffee I ever tasted. I recently purchased a Vienna Superautomatica as an inexpensive second espresso maker. The first thing I noticed is that it is Italian made like many of the great espresso machines. The body of the Vienna is "graphite" plastic, and while it does not feel first class, it somehow has a pretty sturdy feel to it. I also like that the footprint is pretty small thus taking up little counter space.I opened the manual, which is not particularly clear, but need not be on account of very simple operation. The Vienna has three buttons--on/off, coffee, and steam. It also has a steamer control knob and a water volume knob.
I turned on the machine after filling the coffee and water tanks. The buttons feel Italian--you''ll know what I mean if you''ve owned an Alfa Romeo. They are a bit clunky next to my old Capresso C1000, but they work well (for now).
The Vienna takes a couple of minutes to warm up--I don''t mind this for reasons I''ll reveal in a minute. The coffee spout is adjustable up and down to accommodate a large variety of cups and mugs. Once it''s ready, the coffee light stops blinking. I push the button and it begins to grind the coffee. The noise level of the machine is louder than my Capresso, but not too bad. You might wake up the house with it in the morning, but my child stayed asleep. Once the coffee finishes the grind, the Vienna immediately begins making espresso.
My first impression was that I saw a lot more steam coming from the coffee than my Capresso. I am hopeful. The coffee also looked a bit thicker than the Capresso. After the Vienna finished I observed the cup: nice crema, plenty hot, and smells like the genuine article. I gave it a taste--wow, step aside Capresso, this espresso is richer, hotter, and a lot closer to coffee bar espresso. Next I took a sip. Ah yes, the cup holds rich chocolatey espresso. If you are sort of a coffee snob, you''ll like what you taste. The coffee is much richer than the Capresso, which I attribute to hotter water and fuller extraction.
I''m sure that the Vienna will not make good enough espresso for some folks, but to me, it still tastes better than Starbucks. It was more than $100 cheaper than my Capresso and frankly makes better espresso. I cannot yet speak to the durability of the machine, but the Vienna is now my favorite inexpensive espresso maker.

We owned a Saeco Vienna Deluxe since January 2004, but decided to purchase a newer model in September 2010. The Vienna Deluxe served us well for six and a half years, but was beginning to show its age. The Saeco Vienna Plus is the updated version of the Vienna Deluxe.Saeco''s Vienna Plus super-automatic espresso machine is simple to use. Add up to 57 oz filtered cold water to the reservoir, up to 12 oz beans in the hopper, and then turn the machine on. While warming up, adjust the volume dial for a 1 to 6 oz pour. Once ready, press the coffee button once to make an espresso or twice for a double shot or two espressos. If a latte is desired, press the steam button after the espresso has finished brewing and turn the steam knob to activate the pannarello to steam the milk. Turning the steam knob without pressing the steam button will produce hot water from the pannarello instead.
The perfect espresso may require adjusting a couple dials in the hopper. A strength dial controls the amount of grounds used per cup. A second knob controls the grind''s coarseness. These settings are typically adjusted once then left alone if you chose to alter the factory setting. The factory settings work well for us, so we didn''t adjust these controls.
Maintaining and cleaning the Vienna Plus espresso machine is just as simple. Cleaning consists of a weekly (or after every 15 pucks) wipe down of the machine, rinsing off the brew group with warm water, and emptying and washing the drip tray and grounds drawer. Incidentally, the used coffee grounds are beneficial to soil when spread out in the gardens or lawn. Once every three months, running descaler through the boiler keeps the inner workings in good condition.
A common complaint about Saeco Vienna espresso machines is the outer plastic cabinet. The durable plastic cabinet was not a problem for us on the old machine, as it didn''t chip, crack, or break with normal use. The Veinna Plus uses the same plastic material for the outer cabinet, and is probably used to keep the cost down. The internal workings, like the stainless steel boiler, are hidden from view and use more expensive materials.
Another complaint I''ve read about is the grinder getting clogged. Our local coffee shop advised us not to purchase oily beans like many flavored coffees. If you enjoy flavored coffee, add syrup to the cup instead. Choosing the right beans, and regular cleanings has kept us from experiencing this problem.
Compared to the Vienna Deluxe, the Vienna Plus super-automatic espresso machine has an updated look, but operates the same and is similarly sized. However the Vienna plus is quieter, and the pannarello has been improved for easier and more consistent frothing.
Ultimately, the Vienna Plus super-automatic espresso machine is simple to use and maintain; plus produces a great tasting espresso and Americano. If you''re looking for a fully automatic espresso machine, this one is definitely worth considering.

We had a Saeco Vienna Deluxe for several years. The machine finally died on us. In searching for a new machine, I saw the Saeco Vienna Plus and knew this would be the next machine. It is very similar to our previous model. It is much cheaper than when we had purchased our first unit. I feel there is value in what we are getting. It saves us a fortune from having to run to the more expensive coffee shop chains to pick up a mocha when it can easily made at home. At the touch of a button or two, the coffee is ready to go. The ease of use is amazing. Clean up is easy. Overall, I cannot recommend this machine.The machine made excellent espresso for the first few weeks we had it. Once it was broken in, the espresso was average, and the crema was more of a large-bubbled foam. The grinder is able to create a fine grind, but unfortunately the machine can''t pass any water through it, so you have to use a mid-level fine grind. The machine is able to adjust the amount of water used per shot, but anything more than the smallest available setting creates, well, coffee. Not even an Americano, just coffee.
After three months the grinder broke. When I opened up the machine''s door a broken part flew out. Amazon sent me a new one. One month in on the new one, the brewgroup jammed. I thought it was broken, but after four days, the machine was able to pry itself loose. Ground coffee was all over the brewgroup, as if it had exploded. We''ll see how it works out.
A bright spot--Amazon was astoundingly helpful and gracious. They replaced the first one, postage payed, express delivery, with no questions at all. They offered to refund the original purchase price on the second one, until it broke loose and started working again. I cannot complement them highly enough!

This product was easy to put together, easy to clean, and does an excellent job at removing stains. My carpet looks brand new. Yes, this device adequately heats up the water! I was so surprised at how light it is, and how easy to operate. I would recommend this device to anyone that is no longer willing to pay top dollar to have professionals steam their carpet. My high traffic areas due to small dogs and small kids are very clean now.
I have used quite a few sprays, powders, and finally broke down and rented a carpet cleaner from a place that was on my way home from work. That was the worst idea, because their machine somehow ended up making ALL of my things smell even MORE like urine. So, I reluctantly rented a rug doctor from a more reputable source (how sad is it that my neighborhood grocery store is a more reputable source than a vaccum repair shop?), and got to work. I spent literally sixteen hours of the 24-hr rental period canvassing our entire house twice. It smelled and looked great, got rid of the other rug cleaner''s pee smell, and most of the spots in our house. There were still a few stubborn ones, which I attacked with some of the enzyme sprays that were highly reviewed on Amazon.
Now, the rug doctor is pretty neat. I''m not gonna lie. I was kind of wishing I could just buy one of those, because renting one every month seemed redundant. So, I got online (amazon to be specific), and started comparing consumer carpet cleaners. I read many reviews, and finally settled on this one, because quite a few people seemed to prefer it to a Hoover. I was going to order one Prime, but then caught my dog barfing up his dinner, and decided I needed one pronto. It''s the same price at WalMart, so I drove there post haste and picked it up. I wanted to get the ProPet, but it wasn''t in stock, but this was my second choice, and it hasn''t disappointed yet.
The unit itself was relatively easy to put together I did it all by myself, no help from the husband at all. No missing parts, nothing backwards, I did not even swear once during the entire process so you''ve got to know that it''s user friendly. I''m not exactly mechanically inclined, but it only took about 20 minutes, which I attribute to the fact that I was watching TV at the same time.
It runs smoothly, and isn''t too loud. It''s not one where you can watch TV while you use it, but the noise is comparable to our vaccum. I can easily have a conversation over the volume without feeling like I''m shouting. I like that while the clean water bladder is nestled in, it''s easy to remove and replace. I''ve been taking it out each time I rinse the dirty water resevoir, just to make sure that everything is rinsed off and I am completely paranoid of it somehow getting stinky like the vaccum place''s machine, so I rinse it out thoroughly. I haven''t figured out how to take apart the top quite yet so that I can rinse out the extractor completely, but it looks like it will just require a screwdriver if I really feel the need.
It extracts water pretty well, too as good as the Rug Doctor. The only thing that I view as a bit of a catch 22 is that while it''s good at extracting water, it''s also good at extracting anything that the vaccum missed. I don''t know if that means that I need a new vaccum, but it always seems to have bits of carpet lint and fur that it will leave balled up behind it. That part is nice, because it''s not going to clog up the extractor, and the lint balls are easy to pick up, but its still not preferable. Regardless, the point I''m trying to get to is DO NOT use this without vaccuming first. I''m a neurotic vaccumer because our dogs shed like crazy, and while the carpet looks spotless after a vaccum, it still picks stuff up.
I gave this only 4 stars, because I wish that there were more attachments when it comes to the tools. It has a handy little brush, but I was hoping for more versatility. It''s also a bit clunky when trying to get it up and down stairs I pretty much just end up dragging the danged thing, but its good for building muscle, I guess. It moves well on carpet, doesn''t catch like the Rug Doctor did (we have super thick Berber upstairs), and stores easily in our broom closet.
Overall, it''s worth the purchase price. It gets the carpets very clean, manages to catch dirt and hair that I wasn''t able to see, and has been instrumental in making my house smell better. I''ve been using it once a week since I brought it home, save for the 3x the first week to clean up residual pet messes. I''ve got quite a bit of confidence that it will last for many weeks and many cleanings to come.

Now that I am retired and doing the housework since the Mrs is still working. This is the third time using the machine. Easy to use and change out and empty the water. I use the 2x formula and find the solution does seem to last longer. The carpets look great. One wet pass on clean, 1 dry stoke,1 wet pass on rinse, and 3 dry passes to soak up excess water. The filter does a great job of filtering out the impurities, and makes the water taste noticeably better, but the design of the pitcher itself could be much better. The pouring spout is very small, and the flip top sometimes comes loose when you''re pouring. Also, the shape of the pitcher itself makes it feel unwieldy and unbalanced when you''re pouring from a full pitcher.The design of the Brita pitcher is much better--unfortunately, Brita filters do not filter out nearly as much stuff as Crystal Quest, which is why I chose to switch to Crystal Quest. If CQ would redesign their pitcher to be more "user friendly" it would be a terrific product.
Even worse than the design of the pitcher, the filters only lasted for a few weeks! I went through three filters in the six weeks I used this piece of junk! Yes, you read that right. The first day, your water will flow through quickly. The second day, it slows noticeably. By the fourth day, it starts to take a LONG time to pass the water through the filter. By the end of two weeks, it could no longer pass a full reservoir of water through the filter within 12 hours! Seriously!!! It would literally only pass about 3 drips of water per minute through the filter after only a few weeks. I can''t use that!!! Who can? It was insane! I am one person. I was not even close to using the filter''s claimed capacity of 2,000 gallons! I went through THREE filters!! I thought maybe the first one was defective, but after the same performance from all three, that was it. Completely unacceptable.
As if that wasn''t enough, another troubling issue is the fact that the filters are put together with some kind of glue or adhesive. Seems to me like a bad idea to expose the water I''m supposed to be drinking to a chemical adhesive instead of using plastic tabs to hold the filter cartridges together. What rocket scientist designed that?
I recommend that you stay away from this product. I was using Britta for many years before this, and I have now switched to Pur. The Pur filter pitcher is superior in every way to this (and the Britta I had), and I have not experienced any issues.

The NSF doesn''t list Crystal Quest at all, and in CQ''s website, they misleadingly mention NSF, in that they only use NSF "certified PARTS", but their filtered water is *NOT* NSF certified.I think this can explain the extremely poor customer service, and lack of any reputable merchants selling their items. The reason they are here in Amazon is that they have opened an account as a merchant here. It does not automatically get them Amazon''s repute to sell only viable products. I researched a whole day when their tall claims seemed too much to digest. All those giving positive reviews, did you just read the tall claims or have you actually tested the water ??
All in all, I think I will buy one of these units to give my humidifiers and steam irons and what nots cheaper filtered water than what I drink ;)

UPDATE: I just finished the installation. It was very easy. I had to run to the hardware store and pick up a tee fitting to splice into the existing tubing running to the fridge. I used one of the L fittings on the adapter out of the back of the unit to angle the tubing up. The second fitting, I attached to the OUT of the filter cap in order to angle it down. I cut 8-10" of the supplied tubing and made that short connection -it''s very neat and the L fittings ensure that I don''t have a bunch of tubing jutting out behind the unit. I cut roughly half of the remaining tubing to attach to the IN and to the brass compression tee I picked up at the store (the Keurig sits right next to the fridge). I still have one quick-connect L fitting, one adapter, and about five feet of tubing left. I much prefer extra parts than not enough! I turned the water supply back on and, surprisingly, did not turn the kitchen into a kiddie pool. I turned the B150P on, it began to pull in water, told me it was heating the water up. I checked the back of the unit and no water was leaking at any time. During the heating cycle, the B150 threw an error stating that the water supply had been interrupted. My guess is that the water pressure was low while the filter became saturated. It may have also been the ice maker running. I pressed resume and, after a roughly five minute heating cycle, the B150 told me I was ready to brew a cup! Unfortunately, I don''t have any K-Cups! Off to Kroger I go!

The main differences we could see were that the Bemis had a bigger capacity for taking care of our whole house basically in the same way as the Vornado, and with a few added features:

* Continuously variable fan speed setting with quiet night-time setting.
* Digital Control Panel
* Automatic humidistat maintains optimum humidity level.
* Removable power pack simplifies cleaning.
* Concealed control panel maintains the clean, smooth lines of the unit.
So, I hooked it up and put it in our foyer and it seems to be doing a good job. It''s a nice machine, pretty clean lines and goes well with the house. It is BIG, however, and it''s like having a radiator in that room now, but the space was sort of dead anyways, so it''s no great loss. One key thing, however, is that, just like the Vornado, it makes the GLUG GLUG GLUG sound from time to time, which is taking some getting used to...
In my search, NO humidifier is perfect--they all have a number of flaws. This unit seems to be among the best in that it does a good job adding humidity to the air (but not over-doing it as some complain with warm-mist humidifiers) and is fairly easy to clean. In sum, this is an excellent humidifier that is well-made and does its job admirably. Recommended.

I bought this item direct from Amazon on January 25, 2008. The electric motor failed on Feb. 5, 2009. The unit has a one year parts warranty.Although I live in an implied warranty state, I didn''t bother trying to get it fixed as I bought it with an AMEX card, so I am eligible for a refund. At least one other manufacturer Moistair offers a two year warranty on the motor and a one year warranty on other parts. That''s what I will get with my AMEX refund check.

We had a Bemis humidifier (12 gal) that just died after working well enough for NINE winter seasons. As best I can tell, this Essick 4D7-800 is the same model (apparently Essick took over the Bemis products years ago), but with added digital controls. In my online research for a new "whole-house" humidifier yesterday, I found more complaints than praise for ALL brands and models. So, I just ordered this unit, with fingers crossed, in hopes I can get 9 years out of this one, too. Yes, our old unit was cheaply made and the blowing air was moderately loud on high, but it did ok for our 4300 sq. ft home. (We also have a humdifiying unit on our entire heating system, but still need a boost from that!) We ran it pretty nonstop for about 4-5 months a year, only cleaned it once after each season, and changed the wick (~$17) once a year. We refilled the large, heavy plastic bottles once a day and added a small cap of generic bacteriostat treatment to about every other bottle refill. The appearance of the unit itself is not as bad as the fake plastic wood look, and pretty unobtrusive in our foyer.Save 1% Off
