Shop-Vac 9039700 Ultra Web Small Cartridge Filter Save 13% Off

Shop-Vac 9039700 Ultra Web Small Cartridge Filter
  • Cleans up like new for longer life. Just tap to clean
  • 5.5" high x 5.75" wide
  • Nonofiber filtration by Donaldson
  • Up to 5 times more efficient than standard cartridge filter
  • Retaining ring not included

I purchased this Ultra Web Small Cartridge Filter for a shop vac hanging on my tool bench back in 2011. This is a hard to find item, so I was pleased to find it available here on Amazon. The cartridge worked great for almost 2-years [until I sucked up some water -which I should not have done]. I found I could tap the bottom of the cartridge, get rid of some loose dirt, and it was good to go, but the water did me in. So I am back for my second cartridge. The price is very comparable to what you find at Home Depot or Lowes and the shipping is FAST from this seller! Thanks.

I have a 4-gallon model of the Shop Vac. I was worried that the filters would be expensive or hard to find. This one was very reasonably priced and fit perfectly. I suppose you can only get so excited about a vacuum filter, but this one made me happy.

Filter that came with unit, was covered with mildew, this new filter looks like it will last awhile without mildew.

This filter feels MUCH sturdier than what we started with! Fit the top half of my two piece shopvac, fitting the 2.5 gallon size just fine.Purchased early 2012 will try to keep updated.

After reading quite a bit about the filter material, it appeared to be a sturdier and more efficient filter compared to shop-vac filters. I prefer HEPA filters to pick up those nasty tiny particles you cannot see, including asbestos. While this filter is not HEPA rated, the specs indicate that it will do essentially as well. I am fixing up an old house, so filtering nasty particles is especially important to me.

While it is hard to vouch for things you cannot see anyway, after using this a LOT I find it hold up better. The stock filters seem to start to fray on the edges after just a few cleanings, which lowers my confidence in them, especially for small particles. This item has yet to show that fraying after a year of heavy use

I had trouble figuring out what size I needed. I have the Heavy Duty 5 gallon 5.5 HP model (professional grade), which I highly recommend, by the way. This particular filter fit properly.

Haier HWF05XCK 5,000K BTU Room Air ConditionerPros;

Good output of cold Air

low price

Cons;

Very Noisy, nothing "Ultra Quiet" about this AC at all

Lacks a proper drainage hole in the bottom of the housing, can be drilled

Loud

w/o the drainage hole water pools in the bottom of the housing and the fan sounds like a paddle wheel on a steam boat as it spins through the standing water

Strange Sounds; rattles, squeeks, "paddle wheel", scrapes

Noisy

We have this installed in a fairly large living room where we sleep in the summertime and it cools pretty well. It''s not what I''d call quiet, but, it''s not what I''d call really noisy either (to me it sounds like a box fan). Though, as another reviewer stated there''s no drainage holes, so it does make a little noise when the water pools.

It''s easy to install and comes with all the screws, foam strip and little brackets so, if you have a Phillips head screwdriver you should have everything you will need when you get home to install it. It''s very easy to use as well.

Overall, a nice little a/c that cools nicely.

UPDATE 6/9/11: This is still working nicely for us, though, we started running a fan about 5 feet from this to "pull" the cool air down (as it blows up) as we have very high ceilings and that really helps it actually not only cool down our living room but, our kitchen as well. We have an open floor plan in our home with high ceilings and so far with the fan set up while this a/c is running has been keeping us more than cool enough.

If you want an a/c that''s going to "freeze" you out this little a/c probably isn''t for you. If you have a small to mid-size room and you want to be just cool and comfortable, than this will work; at least it has for us.

I had one of these that lasted 3 years, I noticed that there was no drainage, I looked it up and apparently the water is supposed to keep the motor cool. But if its too humid it spits water and ice. I purchased a new one a few days ago because I know it going to be a brutal summer, and once again. no Drainage hole. So this time I took pliers and bent the lower pan out so water could drain, and it does. I think there is enough water in the bottom to keep the motor cool and with the bottom drain I created it does not spit water and is quieter. Seems to run very well. When they made this they prolly did not count on Ga humidity. It cools my 14x12 Room very well. It can be 100 outside and 65 in my room with the unit running.

I recently moved to Chicago, where it is quite humid in the summer time. If we didn''t live in such a humid area, I think this actually might work alright. But that''s not the case and we wasted $100 for basically nothing.

The room we were initially planning on using this was a small bedroom, but unfortunately it only extends up to 3 ft or so, which isn''t long enough to accommodate our window (poor planning on our part). We instead put it in our living room, which is about 8x10. This manages to cool more than half of the room. If you''re standing on the opposite side of the room, you won''t feel the cool air at all. We''ve had this running on full blast for 5 days and it still hasn''t gotten the room cooler than 78-80 degrees, but most of the time it''s much hotter than that even. It pulls in so much humidity from outside that you''re constantly sweating regardless, so that 78 is actually feels like 6-8 degrees warmer. In addition, it''s incredibly noisy. We have to listen to TV with the volume on full blast and still have difficulty hearing it sometimes.

Before this I was living in FL where it is comparably humid, and I have used a 5,000 btu frigidaire window ac unit that was much quieter, did not pull in humidity and it easily cooled down an entire 700 sq ft apartment within 2-3 hours. It''s maybe $30-40 more than this unit, but it''s well worth it, especially if you live in humid climates. Unfortunately for us, the place we bought this at will not return it if the box has been opened, so we''ll have to buy a whole new AC once we get the money.

This A/C unit clearly states in its booklet that it should not be run when its 65 degrees or cooler. It should not be run when there is any moisture inside from cooking or (in my case) clothes drying, and if you have a humidifier, forget about it. Any of those conditions will ice up the grill, then this water will not drain, the water is clearly not designed to cool the coils because theres a huge styrofoam block preventing that. My opinion on this unit is that some foreign company was trying to capitolize on making the cheapest A/C unit they could (worth about 30-50$) and then selling it to just barly undercut the next cheapest unit available at 100$ (GE makes it I think). This thing is light, I am weak and small and I can practically throw it up and catch it, and its loud, and in my climate in the mountains I cant leave it on past dusk or it turns into a popsicle. I am very disappointed in the item, it is going back. I have a Haier portable washing machine which I love, but this item has not been made by A/C professionals.

Nespresso C100T Essenza Single-Serve Automatic Espresso Machine

Nespresso C100T Essenza Single-Serve Automatic Espresso Machine, Titan GreyAfter a few days of use here are my comments for the C100T and Aerocinno. I am using the combo in a small office setting. The no mess of the espresso machine is great. The shots are really good and consistently good. The machine is very simple to use. Fill w/ water, turn on drop in espresso capsule, push button, and you are done. The only drawback I can mentinon is the capsules must be ordered from nespresso directly. In terms of cost they are significanlty more expensive than premium whole bean or ground espresso roast coffe (lavazza, petes, starbucks, etc.). So with regards to the espresso machine it is perfect for my office due to the no mess and no fuss cup of esspresso. Honestly, I love it. But in my home I will be keeping my Starbucks barista espresso machine due to the fact that it will take any espresso and at home it is easy to clean. The aerocinno is ingenious. It is the perfect compliment for any espresso machine with one caveat, the servings that it can make are only for one so if you are preparing multiple beverages are large single servings it must filled multiple times. If you overfill it, it will make a mess spilling over the sides. I am considering getting one of these for the home too due to the ease of use in comparison to the steamer attached to my espresso machine. In conclusion, I do reccomend this combo highly with the points mentioned above in mind.

I must first disclose that I am not an espresso connoisseur; I drink lattes and cafes-au-lait, and until the time my husband (a quad-espresso per day drinker) purchased the Nespresso C100, I had been a loyal Starbucks patron for at least 9 years. We''ve had the C100 now for over a month and since firing it up the first time, neither he nor I have stepped foot in a Starbucks. If you''re not an espresso drinker and are afraid of the C100 PLUS a regular coffeemaker taking up counter space, fear no more. The C100 has two default settings -one pulls an espresso, and the other, a 4-ounce "lungo" -*and* its volume, unlike the C90, is also programmable. I''ve heard some people complaining about the noise Nespresso machines make, but really, have you ever listened to the noise -and I''m not talking about the deafening and/or obnoxious music -coming out of Starbucks?? As far as the quality goes, I haven''t had coffee this good since my trip to Europe. It is consistent, never burnt-smelling/tasting (especially since the coffee doesn''t sit around after being made), and does not require extensive doctoring to make it palatable. I now drink a plain ol'' lungo, not a drink whose desciption requires a memory capable of beating the upper levels of "Simon Says." The only drawbacks, which are not enough to demote this rating to 4 stars, are the mandatory pod-ordering (and waiting), and the cost of accessories. If you don''t believe me, go to Nespresso''s website and see what a podholder costs.

Buy Nespresso C100T Essenza Single-Serve Automatic Espresso Machine Now

I bought this machine after reading the reviews here and elsewhere on the Web. I agree with the good reviews. What people didn''t mention, however, are:

(a) it makes a loud rattly whirring noise when you push the button to make coffee. I thought at first that I bought a dud machine, but apparently it''s normal. It''s not a pleasant noise but I got used to it.

(b) the instructions aren''t really in English, they are multi-lingual and rely more on pictures. So it felt like rocket science for the first few minutes as I tried to decode what it meant. Eventually I gave up reading the instructions and figured it out myself.

(c) the espresso can come out quite cold. It''s not super boiling hot when it shoots out, so unless you warm your cup in advance with some hot water, if you don''t drink your espresso right away, that small amount of liquid gets cold quickly.

(d) the salespeople who say, "Each capsule only costs $0.49. Now, when was the last time you spent $0.49 on a cup of coffee?" are making a facetious argument. You are spending $0.49 for a tablespoon of very good espresso. If you tried to make a full cup of coffee (which you shouldn''t, since this is an espresso machine), you will end up spending $2.00 or something like that. So, don''t buy it thinking you will save money. Because if you are a coffee addict, chances are you will spend money on Nespresso AND still go to Peets and Starbucks anyway. So you are not "saving" anything. On a typical day, we go through about 3-4 capsules. So it can become a noneconomical way of enjoying espresso compared to making it the old way with beans.

(e) the capsules come in a variety of blends, but reading between the lines, the beans all seem to come from just 1-2 countries. It''s not as wide or exotic of a geographic range as Peets or Starbucks. So the difference between the capsule colors/flavors is probably illusory. They all taste the same to me (then again I am not an aficionado).

(f) the capsules must be ordered in min. order of 50 (x$0.49 = $25). There is a mandatatory $5.95 shipping and handling. So re-ordering is going to be $30+ a pop.

(g) the machines must be routinely de-scaled and cleaned with fresh water. This maintenance bit annoys me.

Otherwise, it delivers what it promises. I bought it at Williams Sonoma to take advantage of its liberal return policy (apparently, lifetime warranty).

-C100T vs. Citiz-

We deliberated over 2 machines: the C100T and the new Citiz. After doing some research, we found some interesting facts.

The initial advantages the Citiz had over the C100 were:

1) Slightly smaller counter top footprint

2) Flip-up tray for tall Latte glass option

3) Auto shut-off feature

4) Styling, (although only slightly less ugly)

However after a bit more investigation we found some not so obvious advantages the C100 has over the new Citiz.

Firstly the Citiz although priced the same as the C100, does not come bundled with the Aeroccino like C100 does.

Secondly, based on reading other reviewers, some have noted the Citiz have a tendency to jam. After further follow up, some said only when the pod basket is full, yet others have noted this not the case, it jammed even when the pod waste basket was empty. Further follow up showed the Citiz waste pod basket holds 8 used pods where the C100 as many as 12 or more before removal.

Additionally others have brought up the possible detrimental fact that its tall slim design can make the Citiz a bit tippy when loading the pod and not as stable to work with as the C100. After now using the machine I can see where that could be an issue as a bit of force is necessary to lock the lever down.

Yet another reviewer and owner of both machines said he purchased the new Citiz primarily for the optional tall glass feature then found the Citiz was more hassle to clean up because of its 2 or 3 additional parts; the C100 only has 3 parts to clean and clean up is a snap. As mentioned above we too consider the Citiz for its fold up tall glass Latte tray holder, however having now used the C100 with both short and tall glasses, it is really no big deal to hold the tall glass in place during the coffee extraction process.

With respect to counter top space, although only slightly wider in its stance to the Citiz, the C100 is not really large at all. Certainly much smaller than a stand alone drip machine and far smaller than a traditional espresso makerabout the size of a 2 slice toaster.

-The Aeroccino-

Personally I think this part of the system makes the entire coffee come togetherfor me without the Aeroccino, this is just a decent espresso machine.

First of all it is super easy to use, fill to the level, press the button and go. I noted during demos the Nespresso cafe folks would put the lid on downside upat first perplexed later realize it is easier to clean upclever. The other cool feature of the Aeroccino is if you do not want heated milk, hold the button for 3 seconds and the light will go blue instead of redcold whipped milk for ice cafeclever again!

Cooler yet Nespresso designed the little Latte whip and Cappuccino whisk to be held in place by magnets and there is a magnet in the lid to hold one tool when the other is in usethose Swiss are ingenious! In my opinion the Aeroccino does a better job than the integrated Latisima machine.

-Milk Types-

We were recommended to use higher protein milk as it will provide better results and based on some tests, the whole milk higher protein products do produce a really nice froth over slim milk. The machine produces Cappuccino froth amazingly fluffy while the Latte milk the Aeroccino produces is very rich and creamy. The C100 we have is made in Switzerland!

Highly recommended system!!

Want Nespresso C100T Essenza Single-Serve Automatic Espresso Machine Discount?

It makes a fabulous and consistent cup of espresso, with many varities of coffee to choose from. Its easy, drop in the capsule and simply rinse off the removable capsule drop area. I''m not sure if its easier than a traditional espresso machine. In a traditional machine, you simply pack some grounds into a filter, instead of using a capsule.

I emailed Nespresso and found out that each espresso capsule has 5.5 grams of coffee in it, or .19 ounces. Because there are 16 ounces in a pound of coffee, it takes 84 capsules to equal one pound. At $0.49 a capsule, Nespresso is charging $41.16 FOR 1 POUND OF COFFEE.

You must use Nespresso capsules with this system, and only Nespresso sells the capsules. So if you want to pay the equivalent of $41 bucks per pound, this unit is for you.

Austin Air Healthmate Air Purifier

Austin Air Healthmate Air Purifier - SandstoneQuiet, smooth running, and a FIVE YEAR HEPA filter!! This Austin Healthmate air purifier is the best one you can buy. It cleans a 1500 square foot home, so you don''t even have to have it in the room you''re actually in! And so easy to move around on the 4 large casters, this air purifier is convenient to clean under, too! Recommended!

This filter works great. The high setting (3) is loud, but if you want it to actually fiter the air, then it is going to be loud. We put it in our loft to filter the majority of the house, and I swear the air is cleaner. At night, we put the filter on the lowest setting (1), and we don''t even hear it from the bedroom. I don''t have sientific evidence that this is performing better, so I can only provide my word. Now that it has been on for a few days, we will probably leave it at 2, which you could talk over. We have purchased Ionic Breezes in the past, but they don''t compare to this filter. (I can''t say what I really feel about the Ionic Breezes!)

I bought this air purifiier and started using it in the basement. Two days later the basement had a very musty smell. The basement normally has very little odor. I had the purifiier set on medium. It is a good looking machine and with wheels is easy to move around.

I cannot recommend it as my basement smelled a lot worse two days later. This may have been becuase it helped to moisten the place. I also bougth the model for chemically sensitive people which has potasium iodide so I do not know if that contributed. I know that consumersearch.com and us consumer reports are the best places to get info. This product is not rated high by either. I recommend the whilpool model which is quieter and very highly recommended. Good luck!

Reliable EV1 Enviromate Tandem Steam Cleaner and Vacuum Save $0.99 Off

Reliable EV1 Enviromate Tandem Steam Cleaner and VacuumI just purchased the Enviromate TANDEM EV1 and will be doing a full review on this product. Hopefully it will remain a 5 star when I''m done. I purchased this in hopes it will cut hours of cleaning time down and actually do a better job than other vapor cleaning machines on the market. This one has an extractor which was the selling point for me. You can control the steam vapor for more delicate surfaces like wall to wall vs tile etc. I love the idea of cleaning with steam vapor but don''t like the fact you need to vacuum later to remove your dirt. This is an all in one machine! It will take a while for my review. I ordered this product from Canada directly because the additional tool I wanted which was the Turbo Brush Tool was not available on Amazon. I am really looking forward to using this product!

Sept 29,2012 I have had a chance to use the Tandem EV1 and I am very happy with this machine. It does everything it says it does and is built solid. Easy to use. There are many attachments with it. I used it on my wall to wall which takes a while but the end result is beautiful. Tile cleans up perfectly and it saved me tons of time and my back! The boiler beeps when you need to add water so you don''t have to worry about overheating. The machine won''t produce steam if water level is low so it''s designed for safety. The hose isn''t cool to touch but not hot either. It''s similar to my Jiffy Clothes Steamers hose. I can''t say enough about the quality. The parts all fit correctly and have locks to keep them in place. It seems like it will last a long time. I tried it on glass mirrors, tile and carpeting so far. I''ll detail the car with ease as well now too. I will also use it in the garage on the concrete floor later instead of bleach mopping. The steam can be used with different attachments to break down spills in your garage but use a mop to clean up solvents, oil and gas. Solvents in your machine would ruin it. I love the turbo brush tool that I payed extra for. It speeds up cleaning wall to wall in some areas. It also comes with a nice accessory bag. Customer service is excellent too. SMALL SLEEK LITTLE MACHINE! Oh Yes...one more thing. I didn''t use 1 cleaner and my things look better than ever. Amazing! That will save a ton.

10/03/12 Used on indents in carpet from previous furniture and their gone. I tried on a puppy pee accident. Blotted and pre treated with Natures Miracle while setting up machine. I used the Tandem for 10 minutes on and off then finished with Jiffy fabric freshener and repeated with the Tandem. Smells fresh now. I''ll check it tomorrow. Puppy urine is tough to get out no matter what so I won''t be suprised if my dog still smells it. While steam cleaning wall to wall position the tank by hand. Pulling on the hose line causes it to pull out of it''s socket. No harm done...no steam shooting out anywhere so it was fine. The wheels are very nice and work on smooth surfaces great. Might be helpful to put a locking switch on that part too but it isn''t a big deal. Play with the tools and find your favorite one. There are quite a number of them. The smaller tools give you more suction power so tight corners come clean easy. You can freshen up mattresses with this too. If you happen to have an unfortunate infestation I''m sure this will take care of it. It would definitely boil a flea, bedbug or a louse on the move. YUCK! Hopefully the price will come down so everyone can afford one easily though! It was like purchasing three or four steam cleaners at once. I have gone through six in 18 years so I have spent a ton in products due to kids and pets.

Tips: Let the vapor sit for a little bit before extracting. It cleans much better that way. Great on Oriental rugs. My choice for attachments for stairs and scatter rugs has to be part #30. It''s edge is flexable and did a quicker job on the stairs. It''s small so it also increases the extraction quite a bit. For spots I found leaving the vacuume on while steaming worked fast.

This was the first steam cleaner machine I have ever purchased. I have used an upright cleaning machine with rotating cleaning heads for years and wanted to try a new approach to cleaning carpet and upholstery using only steam. When I first opened the box I was amazed at how many attachments there were and the handy bag they all fit into.

The machine is a very well built. It generates steam in only a few minutes. The suction power of the vacuum seems very adequate to pull up the water. This makes for a very short drying time. Cleaning the machine after use is also simple. The design allows for a very thorough wipe down to keep the machine in top working order.

The numerous upholstery attachments is where this machine really excels. I cleaned two swivel rockers that had numerous inset buttons on the back of the chairs. The alternate attachments made even these hard to reach areas come out looking great.

In cleaning larger areas like carpets, the machine seems to lack in keeping up with adequate steam. But if you slow your cleaning strokes down it does a pretty decent job. Using my old upright cleaning machine always left more water in the carpet than I liked. This will never be a problem with this machine. I was amazed at how much carpet area I could clean with so very little water.

It would be helpful if the owner''s operating manual would include cleaning hints or techniques to get the most out of this machine with the varies types of cleaning surfaces it can tackle.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this machine. The quality of the vacuum/boiler and attachments are well made and in comparison to the price of other steam cleaners is worth considering this machine at its price.

BISSELL 14005 Little Green Compact Carpet Cleaner

BISSELL 14005 Little Green Compact Carpet CleanerBissell 14005 Little Green verses Hoover F5411 Steamvac Jr.

I''ve used both of these mini shampooers and was not entirely satisfied with either, but I preferred the Bissell''s Little Green over Hoover''s Steamvac Jr. and here''s why:

I first had the Little Green for about five years. It was a great little vac with only minor problems. The fill and empty containers are removable from the unit for convenient filling and emptying. There is a cord winder built onto the unit, the hose wraps conveniently around the unit and locks into place, and the shape and size are convenient for most applications including stairs and storage.

The problems I had with the Little Green:

It would occasionally leak a bit. The water seemed to be coming from where the hose connects to the base. It was a small drip leak that was easily solved by emptying the clean water tank after each use. We used ours so frequently that I sometimes left clean water in the tank during storage to avoid wasting cleaning solution.

My biggest problem with the Little Green was the inability to completely clean the dirty water tank. I had four cats when I first bought the Little Green and eventually had four kids. The Little Green made it through a number of illnesses with us above and beyond pet accidents. The dirty water tank became filthy and unsanitary and was not designed to be dismantled for thorough cleaning. Eventually, the smell became too great and I had to dispose of the tank. I decided it was time to try a new spot shampooer one that had a cleanable tank.

That''s when I decided to try the Hoover Steamvac Jr. Both the Little Green and the Hoover spray and suck reasonably well for a small machine. As far as actual cleaning quality, the two are comparable. However, I found the Hoover to be bulky and a pain and its only redeeming quality, in my opinion, was that I am able to thoroughly clean the dirty water tank.

The problems I had with the Hoover F5411 Steamvac Jr.:

The tanks are the base of the unit and are not removable. In order to fill the clean water tank, you have to either maneuver the entire unit under the faucet and aim at a one inch hole in the portion of the unit that houses the motor, or you have to dismantle the machine and still maneuver the largest part of it under your faucet or use a bucket.

The tanks are a single bucket-style unit separated by a divider. They are not individual parts. When you dump the dirty water, if you have the unit fully assembled, the clean water will slosh around. If you dismantle the machine to empty it, you will also be emptying the clean water tank.

The top portion that houses the motor also has a filter that sits down in the dirty water tank, so if you dismantle the machine to fill or empty it, you are forced to place the motor housing with hose and cord in a tub or sink or get your floor dirty and wet.

The machine is round. It doesn''t fit well on stairs nor is it a convenient shape to store.

There is no cord storage on this unit and no convenient way to store the cord or keep it out of your way when you are filling, emptying, or storing. You can wrap it around the base of the handle, but it usually does not stay in place if you empty the tank and tends to get in the way of using the handle to carry the machine.

The Steamvac Jr. does have a spot to store the hose, but I find it an inconvenient and cumbersome position.

I''m currently saving my pennies to buy another Little Green. The little Hoover just makes me more angry than satisfied and I''ve taken to simply letting stains set in instead of hassle with the obnoxious machine.

I would recommend avoiding the Proheat Little Green. It seems the parts are not designed to work well with the heat and tend to break down. Hot tap water in the standard Little Green works well and this is coming from a germaphobe whose hands are raw from overwashing. If it''s clean enough for me, it''s probably more than clean enough for you. If you''re looking for a spot shampooer, the Little Green is your best bet.

I''ve owned a cleaning business for 26 years, and this machine is great. There are a few secrets to success with it:

To clean it and keep it from smelling, flush it after using. Suck hot clean water through the hose. If your unit is really dirty, suck a mild bleach solution and let it sit. ALSO, remove the rubber gasket at the bottom of the waste tank and clean it... this can be a major source of odor. It''s very easy to do, but not mentioned in the instructions.

Use just clean water in the solution tank, and put the cleaner in a spray bottle. (The less soap the better. Use the scrubber on the nozzle and allow a few minutes of dwell time). Think of your machine as the rinse cycle in a clothes washing machine. Rinse the dirt and soap out, leaving a minumum of residue. A seperate bottle also allows more precise application of cleaner. And it extends tank refills, so you won''t have to wait for the spray pump to reprime as much.

Durablility? I''ve used mine several times a week for almost a year now, what with business, dogs, and small children. No sign of wear whatever.

This is a brilliant design. Don''t let the reviews that don''t know how to work with it dissuade you. It is one of the finest, best engineered consumer appliances ever made. Get the least expensive model, as the Turbo Brush and heater don''t work well and are not needed.

Drawbacks? Okay, it doesn''t have the suction power of a commercial machine. If you want that, pay three hundred dollars more and lug an extra thirty pounds around the house.

Buy BISSELL 14005 Little Green Compact Carpet Cleaner Now

I bought the Little Green the day after we adopted a puppy. Although it does a sufficient job suctioning accidents out of carpeting, I would not recommend it.

Positives:

--Good at absorbing spills or other liquids from carpeting

--Compact and easy to store

Negatives:

--Dirty water pools in the bottom of the unit under the tank that collects the dirty water.

--The unit then leaks the dirty water out the bottom while using it.

--It is extremely difficult to clean.

--The dirty water never seems to be fully emptied even after taking the entire unit and dumping it upside down.

--It smells horrible! Even emptying it immediately after every use has not prevented it from smelling awful while using the machine. I think this is because the dirty water is never fully emptied. Hot, soapy water suctioned up after a clean up has not helped to remove the lingering smell.

While this little machine cleans well but it is poorly design from a maintenance and easy of cleaning prospective. The catch tank is feed from the bottom through a 2 inch pipe that is split into two functions, return water and air return. The machine can never get all of the water up the 6 inches of feed pipe so it leaks out the bottom into the area under the catch tank (This area is nearly impossible to clean)! The dirty water feed should have been near the top of the tank and the air return should not be in the tank at all.

The tank does not lend itself to cleaning either. The return pipe has so many nooks and crannies that dirt builds up quickly, even with immediate rinsing and only after a half a dozen quick uses, and there is only a 1 inch hole in the top available to clean it. Another fault the catch tank is actually about 12 inches high but you can only use the bottom 6 due to the placement of return water outlet. All in all, the designers never used or had to clean this little green monster, neither should you! Don''t buy this.

Want BISSELL 14005 Little Green Compact Carpet Cleaner Discount?

We had a new puppy and needed some serious spot cleaning back up. I had used other Bissell machines in the past (you know, other puppies). This little machine does a great job of getting spots up and out. I sometimes use it in conjunction with spray on cleaners. However, this machine is difficult to keep clean. It has two chambers one for fresh soapy water and one for dirty water. The dirty water chamber has a complicated flow system (it''s the one on the right in the picture shown). Gunk gets trapped on the edges and tops of the dirty chamber and it doesn''t rinse out easily. There''s no way to take the bottom off and clean the inside of the machine. This means that you always have gunk in your machine sometimes smelly gunk. My other complaint is that the nozzle for the spray wand is miniscule and when it clogs water isn''t directed in a spray, it pools in a puddle. This model is the best I have found, but I think Bissell should make some improvements to the design. Oh yes, one more thing... I find that I can''t unwind the hose without unplugging and winding the power cord. This means you''re stuck juggling a dirty hose while winding the power cord.

Breville BES860XL Barista Express Espresso Machine Save 28% Off

Breville BES860XL Barista Express Espresso Machine with GrinderI spent my Christmas 2009 reviewing expresso machines. I had just returned from a trip to Europe and finally was going to fold and get an expresso machine. I missed the expresso from Italy and France. 1oz of crema delight.

So, I liked the Breville from all the reviews but was worried about some of the negativity on the "wet puck" I had read. All the reviews mentioned excellent coffee though, so it was on my short list.

Then I saw the Breville BES860XL, also known as the Barista Express Programmable Expresso. From the looks you can tell this unit has exchanged the hot water dispenser for a bean grinder. This unit is a fully automatic expresso machine with the super automatic feature of grinding a pre-measure of beans for your brew. Note, it is not a super automatic machine as you still need to manually mount the portafilter into the group head, and clean the filter afterwards. This is as automatic as you will want to go if you want to really control your coffee.

But, let me walk you through the pleasure:

1. the box. this has excellent graphics -even as you open, the getting started guide and pictures guide you along. The unit removes easily.

2. The tamper is magnetically held in place on the front of the machine -you can use it in place or remove for manual tamping.

3. New: -there is a dry puck feature now for all the fussy reviews -this removes excess water so you get, a dry puck

an excellent burr grinder -you can dismantle this for cleaning, and it has a wide range of control

for those that previously complained about the "cheat" dual wall filters -the unit comes with single and double dual wall AND single wall filters

there is a hideaway storage tray to hold all the small goodies

4. Steaming -excellent steam temperature and pressure -works very well with the provided frothing jug, very minimal excess water to start

5. The real test. I am using the dual wall filters, and the Illy whole expresso beans I got from Italy were made into pure heavenly expresso. Nice crema. This is the real thing.

This is one finely engineered machine. From a mechanically inclined electrical engineer to the folks at Breville: you have created an exceptionally functional piece that does the job. Did I mention it is beautiful on the counter as well? I have it on an island, no bad sides.

Drawbacks: none. BUT, when making a real expresso shot, make sure you pre-warm your demitasse. Otherwise the expresso will heat up your cup and your coffee will not be hot. I run a water cycle first into my cup to heat up the group head and the cup.

In my opinion this is the best buy in the market under $1500. At the office, daily I use a super automatic machine that is at that top end.

The Barista Express is Breville''s newest (and most expensive) offering in its line of espresso machines (which includes the Breville 800ESXL Commercial Espresso Machine and the BES830XL Die-Cast Programmable Espresso Machine). It is a semi-professional machine designated for the "aspiring barista" and the "beginner."

The major selling points of the Barista Express are:

(1) patented dual-wall filters to help novices make a respectable cup of espresso without a lot of fuss. Breville has also included regular (single-walled) filters to allow a user the freedom to craft a cup of espresso like a professional barista would.

(2) the integrated burr grinder

A burr grinder (as opposed to a blade grinder) is ideally suited for grinding coffee beans because they generate less frictional heat than a conventional blade grinder. (Excessive heat degrades the quality of coffee beans. See Breville BCG450XL Conical Burr Grinder)

(3) coffeehouse-quality espresso right in your own home in under 2 minutes flat.

My experience with Breville Barista Express has been mostly positive. I''m especially impressed by how easy it is to make a delicious-tasting cup of espresso! Here''s a detailed assessment:

Single-Wall and Dual-Wall Filters

Breville has included 2 types of filter: (1) the single-wall filter and (2) the double-wall filter. Each type of filter comes in 2 sizes (single-shot and double-shot) -for a total of 4 filters.

> Single-Wall Filter (Non-Pressurized Filter)

With the single-wall filter, getting the tamp pressure and grind size just right are of paramount importance for making a good cup of espresso. Under-extraction results in a watered-down espresso with little creama (foam head). The espresso will also taste a little sour. Over-extraction, on the other hand, makes the espresso overly bitter. I''ll tell you, I have ruined many a cup of coffee because of under-extraction or over-extraction. Getting it right will take a lot of patience, practice, and experimentation.

> Dual-Wall Filter (Pressurized Filter)

I really appreciate the dual-wall filters Breville has included in the package for a beginner who is unsure of the "right" ground size or tamp pressure to use. The dual-wall filter helps to give a beginner a leg up on making a good cup of espresso without having to worry too much about the intricacies involving coffee ground size and tamp pressure.

A commonly reported problem that''s noteworthy is that the single hole on the lower wall sometimes gets clogged up (although I haven''t encountered the problem thus far). Breville advises the use of a pin to unclog the filter.

Coffee Temperature

The ideal temperature of the water for extraction is between 195 F to 202 F. However, the water temperature reaches only roughly 185 F on my machine. There are no adjustments that allow you to increase/decrease the temperature of the water.

Bean Hopper & Conical Burr Grinder

The bean hopper coffee that feeds the burr grinder has a supposed 8oz capacity. In practice, I find that it will only hold about 6 oz (it takes about half of a 12-oz bag of Peets coffee). A real plus to the hopper is the edges of its lid are lined with rubber to ensure a tight-fitting and airtight seal, so the coffee beans won''t degrade as a result of oxidation.

The grind size of the burr grinder is adjustable, from very fine (for espresso and Turkish coffee) to coarse (recommended for espresso extraction with a dual-wall filter). The grinder delivers very evenly ground coffee (no lumps).

The only complaint I have about the hopper is as it empties out, the coffee beans in it occasionally need a little help to make them fall into the chute leading to the burr grinder. This happens more often with "oily" coffee beans.

Magnetic Tamper

The magnetic tamper allows you to either (i) tamp on the counter (like a professional barista does) or (ii) do your tamping "on board" (with the tamper magnetically affixed to the machine). I really like that you''re able to store the tamper on board when it''s not in use, so it''s within easy reach and it won''t get lost.

Programmable

I like how easy it is to program the amount of espresso dispensed into both the Single Shot and Double Shot buttons. For example, to program the Double Shot button, all you do is press the Program button, press Double Shot button, and press Double Shot button again to stop the extraction once you get the desired amount of espresso. Thereon, the Double Shot button will dispense the preprogrammed amount of espresso every time you push it.

Steam Wand

The steam wand produces perfectly textured milk. You can use an included attachment if more froth is desired.

Design

The Barista Express is a beautifully designed machine that simply oozes class and quality. The exterior is stainless steel except for the water tank, the bean hopper, the drip tray, the knobs, and a few other smaller parts (all of which are made of plastic).

Easy Cleanup

Clean-up is easy:

> Give the portafilter a good tap to expel the ground. The ground should pop right out (the used ground should resemble a brownie if you''ve gotten the grind size and tamp pressure right). Give both the filter basket and the portafilter a quick rinse and you''re done.

> Empty the drip tray when it says "Empty me" (a small float atop the drip tray gets upturned to display an "Empty me" sign when the drip tray is just about full) -a very nice touch.

> Make sure the steam wand is wiped down immediately after use.

Get Started Right Away

Everything you need to get started right away is included: filter baskets, milk jug, tamper, carbon water filter, and frother attachment. You probably want to get some espresso cups and a thermometer if you don''t have them already.

---

Despite a couple of issues, I like the Barista Express. Would I recommend it? Well, it depends.

If you''re looking for an convenient, no-brainer way to make good cup of espresso (or any espresso-based beverage, such as Latte, Cappuccino, and Mocha) the Barista Express may be your ticket. It consistently churns out a good cup of espresso when you use the dual-wall filter, which works in tandem with the preprogrammed dual-wall settings. In addition, the burr grinder, which doesn''t normally come integrated in professional machines, is a definite plus.

However, if you''re into the art of making espresso (like a true barista), there are other good machines within the same price range you might want to look at first (one of the most popular machines is the Silvia Rancilio Espresso Machine).

There you have it. The above are some important considerations you might want to take into account before you make a purchase decision.

[Update October 5, 2011]

4 months after I acquired this espresso machine, it began leaking water. The water must have shorted out the electronics because the unit stopped working altogether shortly after. For months, my machine fell by the wayside, until I contacted Breville about getting it fixed. I was pleasantly surprised at how promptly they responded and how helpful the customer representative was. About 1 week after I contacted them, I received a brand new unit. Great job on the customer service, Breville -Thank you. You''ve definitely won me over.

I agree with most of the reviews below but wanted to add a few words about my experience with this machine:

I made a cursory read-through of the manual and having never owned a machine like this, but certainly having purchased a lot of coffee shop espressos across the globe, I thought I could jump right in and make some great drinks. Well, in part true, but I hit a point where I almost returned it. I started off with the double-wall filter and it made a very decent shot. Then I figured I try out the single wall filter. 2 weeks later and after joining the ranks of Corn-holio, I hit the jackpot.

During the first 2 weeks, I went from a moderate grind and a middle grind amount to the finest setting and about 2/3 away around the grind amount dial. I even far exceeded the recommended tamping pressure. The result was always an under extracted and bitter shot. Most of the time the puck was wet on top and a bit messy to clean up. Each time I pressed the double-shot button, the pressure wouldn''t even rise into the darker colored scale. No matter how fine the grind, or how hard I tamped the coffee the result was the same. I thought maybe it was the bean I chose or just a lousy grinder. Nope.

The day before yesterday I decided to read through the manual very carefully and try doing what they say step by step, not just what the cartoon correction diagram showed. I pre-heated the cup by running hot water through the filter and portafilter, thereby warming it. Then I immediately dried the portafilter/single-wall filter and filled it with freshly ground coffee. I added some coffee, pressed it down lightly into the filter with my fingers and added more. Then I tamped it with about 20 pounds of pressure. When finished, the tamper''s stainless rim near the bottom was not completely recessed in the portafilter, leaving it filled to within 1/8". After cleaning the rim thoroughly I simply attached the group head and pressed the pre-programmed double shot. Killer espresso like ones I''ve had in the finest Italian shops. Cleanup was a dream because the puck was nearly dry it just popped out. Wow. Cleaning between shots is important reheating is as well. If you follow these (Breville''s) directions you will be more than pleased with this machine. I now feel like I got my $600 worth.

I changed a few things all at once, so I can''t necessarily put my finger on exactly what changed the output. Pre-heating and filling the single-wall filter to an after-tamped level near the top seems to be the key. I love this machine now. As with the other reviews, I think the "clean me" light comes on with just a pre-set number of cycles since I too use filtered water and clean incessantly. The machine is heavy, solid and well laid out. Watch out while filling the reservoir so as not to get even a few drops close to the hopper jamming problems and a difficult clean. I don''t like leaving the tamper in the magnetic mount to tamp my coffee, but it''s a great place to store it. The wand for frothing is fantastic, but I normally prefer straight espresso. My lovely wife prefers cappuccino and we''re now working on some good cup art, no longer worrying about trying to nail the perfect shot. I do recommend this machine, but I highly recommend reading the directions word for word, front to back in the manual and adhering to their advice. Breville designed it and they know how to get the best results. With practice, you too will snub your nose at Starbucks from now on.

Best of luck.

We have had our Breville unit for several months now. It has given good, reliable service and makes a terrific shot. I take capuccino (and the steam wand frother is very easy -the best manual frother I have used), and my lovely wife takes americanos. We use the "barista" filters rather than the Senseo-style "beginner" filters. The included pressure gauge makes it very easy to "sight in" your favorite shot by varying the grind and tamp till you find what you like.

The pump assembly, heating block, and user interface are terrific. The buttons have a nice feel, everything about the machine''s style radiates solidity. It is a pleasure to use. The waste reservoir in the base is large enough for several days'' coffee drinking, and is easy and simple to empty. The convenient hidden compartment behind it is a great place to stash the extras and cleaning tablets.

The grinder is indeed adjustable and delivers consistent sized grind when it is working. But there are several problems with it -it''s obviously Breville''s first attempt. First, the bean reservoir has very shallow sides -they are not sloped enough for most beans to autofeed, so we often end up pulling the top open and stirring the beans with our fingers, to get them to feed down into the grinder. Second, the grinder *will* jam if you use oily beans -which is too bad as we like a very dark roast. Mixing oily and dry roasts 1:1 seems to be OK, except... Third, the grinder *will* jam if you get even a little bit of water in it, which is inevitable if you fill the tank in-place on the back of the device. The molding at the top of the machine seems custom designed to direct otherwise-harmless drops of water straight down into the grinder where they will do the most damage.

The worst thing about the grinder is that it is a bitch and a half to clean. You can disassemble it -at least as far as getting the stator blades out from around the burr -but the part that jams is the feed paddles that push grounds out of the area under the grinder, into the top of the chute that feeds the espresso head in its holder (as pictured). That part is nearly impossible to get to. When the grinder jams, I vacuum out the coffee beans and grounds with the blade head on our vacuum cleaner (incidentally, Dyson vacuums rock), then go after it with a combination of toothpicks, pipe cleaners, and dust-free canned "air". This generally happens in the morning, so I wake up the kids with the vacuum, and then everyone''s in a bad mood -the kids want sleep and/or breakfast, I want my coffee, and I''m rooting around with a toothpick cursing the designers.

We do run the clean cycle when the "clean me" light comes on, but I suspect it is on a fixed timer -we user reverse-osmosis water, shouldn''t have any boiler-scale issues at all.

UPDATE: After 10 months of non-heavy 3-4 times a week use, I got up one morning to find water leaking from the bottom of the machine, covering my counter top. I contacted Breville''s CS; they didn''t hassle me at all. They requested my receipt and serial number (stamped on the bottom of the unit), and emailed me a link to a Breville-paid FedEx Ground shipping label. A week later I received a brand-new machine. My biggest hassle was of my own doing for not keeping the original box. They have GREAT customer service.

August 20, 2012--UPDATE #2: Two weeks ago, my warranty replacement did the same thing as my first unit (water leakage from the thermoblock''s gasket). Personally, I think it''s a manufacturing defect as I always used filtered water, descaled and cleaned my machine as it was required. IMHO, the one year warranty on these machines is lame, considering what these cost.

************************************************

I didn''t like coffee of any kind until 5 years ago when I tried a drink from Seattle''s Best. Then I was hooked. I had to clone this recipe at home; but attempting to make my own Raspberry Mocha Kiss from plain ol'' coffee brewed in my $15 Mr. Coffee proved to be a failure. Now, I''m happy to say, I truly can make my own at home, all because of this stainless steel espresso machine made by Breville.

I agree with most of the other reviewers here --this is a great machine. From the moment you cut the package sealing tape on the box, the entire experience exudes class. Even the box flaps are beautiful with a large full color picture of a cappuccino on high-gloss cardboard. The directions start on the box flaps as far as unpacking it, and there is also a full manual and smaller quick-start guides to making the espresso and cleaning the machine. All the components are packaged well and the small number of parts needed for assembly fit together perfectly. You get everything you need except the coffee beans and shot glasses.

My sister-in-law owns a local coffee shop which, of course, has commercial-grade espresso machines. She saw my Breville and was impressed with the quality build for a home-use machine.

I admit after I had it assembled and ready-to-go, I was a bit overwhelmed that a coffee novice like me would be able to make a mocha or latte. I just stood there and stared at it for 3 days before I had the nerve to plug it in. But thanks to Breville for including the double-wall filters for us beginners it wasn''t that hard. You get a total of 4 filters, dual wall for novices like me, and single wall for more experienced baristas. Single and double shot of each style.

A stainless steel pitcher is also included for steaming and frothing the milk. I used skim milk and the high steam output heated and made the milk into foam in no time at all.

My first two espresso''s did not turn out. Third time was charm for me I hadn''t tamped with enough pressure on the first two I made. If you are new at making espresso, make sure you go to Breville''s web site and watch the videos there are several that will help you with whatever trouble-shooting problem you may have.

I''m amazed at how quiet it is...even the grinder hardly makes any noise...when the machine pressurizes, it''s quiet....I have 2 cats and neither one ran to hide under the bed when I turned the power button on. The steamer is the noisiest component but it''s not annoyingly loud.

Breville''s Customer Service has been supportive and quick to respond to my questions. I had a couple questions late Sunday night so I emailed them, and by Monday morning I had a response in my Inbox.

Yes, this espresso machine is an investment. But if you visit Starbucks often, it will soon pay for itself, plus there''s the convenience factor of not having to go out for a treat.

CBTL Kaldi S04 Single Cup Brewer Save 10% Off

CBTL Kaldi S04 Single Cup Brewer, RedI gave my review another star since the capsules are now available locally at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Being able to conveniently buy capsules is important to me.

If you are short on counter space in your kitchen and you want both a single serve coffeemaker and an espresso machine, this unit is something you may want to consider. It takes up about the same amount of space as a Keurig machine, if you are familiar with those.

Set-up was easy, insert the screen in the water tank, give everything a good rinse, pour in some water up to the fill line 40 ounces(I prefer using filtered water), plug it in and follow the simple directions in either the manual or the quick start guide.

Once the machine has primed itself, you are ready to choose your brew. Pull the handle back all the way, drop in the pod with the top facing the front of the machine, snap the handle back down, and choose your size by pressing one of the 3 selections:

Top button: 1.5 ounces for espresso

Middle button: 3 ounces for a long espresso

Bottom button: 8 ounces for coffee, 9 ounces for tea

The next time you brew another cup, when you lift the handle backwards, that disposes of the previously brewed capsule into the storage bin behind the drip tray. This should be dumped into the trash as part of your daily maintenance, in addition to always making sure you have adequate water in the tank (you don''t want to burn-up your pump). Also rinse the storage bin out with hot water after you dump the capsules, it gets a little skanky in there if you don''t!

All the coffee flavors I''ve tried are very aromatic, rich and flavorful. The espresso capsules all produce a nice crema on top. Even though hot chocolate is sometimes listed as available in a capsule, I don''t think those are out yet (as of 11/1/12). I''m not a tea drinker, but I did try the Tropical Passion and it was good.

I''m concerned about availability of coffee capsules, but I''ve ordered more capsules from Amazon. They are available on their Subscribe and Save program, at least I get free shipping that way, but the capsules at this time run 62 cents each.

UPDATE November 2011 these capsules are now being sold at my local Bed, Bath & Beyond, even more flavors than are offered here at Amazon.

NOTE: Every 2 to 3 months the de-scaling warning light comes on, this is what I use it takes about 45 minutes from start to finish: Urnex Dezcal Home Activated Descaler, For Home Coffee & Espresso Equipt., 4 1 oz Packets.

If you want a frother, they also have a separate one available, it''s great.

CBTL LM-145P Milk Frother, White

My wife convinced me and finally bought for me the CBTL Kaldi S04 Single Cup Brewer, Red. After having this device in my countertop for the last 4 days here are my findings.

The Kaldi makes superb espresso brews. So far we have tried the Carnevale and Premium Decaf Espresso. These 2 are both excellent. Brews a the standard Expresso shot or a tall espresso which is about 5 ounces. Both brews leave a nice layer of crema that lasts to the last sip. However, I also tried the French Roast as being one of the dark/bold selections; this one missed the note by being ''lite'' for a dark brew; it does have a very nice smooth flavor, but it just misses the dark punch of a bold selection. I would place the french roast as a medium roast. We just came from Bed Bath and Beyond and purchased a package of the Starbucks Verona which was my favorite T-Disc on the Tassimo; well, even the Verona is on the lighter side; tastes good, but lite!

It has a small profile that does not take much counter space and has a very modern stylish look. it is not very noisy like the Keurigs and takes just a couple of minutes to finish the brew.

The items that could be improved: The water tank could''ve been made a little bigger to hold more water; if you are just brewing espressos, perfect size, but if you brew coffees the water tank is small. Secondly, the used pods fall into a reservoir which is not very hygienic, since the pod is full of water it will drip outside the pod and into the reservoir, which if it is left like that for a day or more, it will rot and smell bad. There is no way to put a tall cup under the nozzle, so you have to use low profile or espresso cups. However, as an added bonus you can use the new Starbucks ''Verismo'' pods on this just fine as the pods are the exact same size; not sure who copied who but if you are a Starbucks fan this is a very good extra bonus.

I also own 2 Bosch Tassimo T20 1 Cups Espresso Machine and Bosch TAS1000UC Tassimo Single-Serve Coffee Brewer, Anthracite brew bots that make excellent espressos and coffees; and while I am happy with this device I think the Tassimo with the Bar Code technology is what puts it into another superior level. However, the CBTL pods are available at BBB, Target and obviously here at Amazon, so that is what made it atrractive as an alternative to the Tassimo T-Discs which suffer for good distribution.

Follow up after 10 days:

I noticed that brewing regular coffee, the temperature of the coffee was not hot enough; I contacted CBTL Sunday, left a message and they promptly returned my call next day (not from Asia). They sent me instructions how to program the temperature settings which are not very clear in the manual.

I am using the CBTL for espressos, as they are very very yummy; but regular coffee (at least the French Roast) is pretty lite to my taste buds; so I am using the Tassimo for regular coffee.

Instructions for setting the temperature from CBTL:

"Programming the Coffee Temperature

Your CBTL System uses one main heating element for all the drink options (espresso, coffee and tea). Should you find that you would like to increase the temperature of the water that is being dispensed, you can do so be following the below steps. Please note that this will only raise the temperature approximately 6 Degrees Fahrenheit.

1. Switch the appliance off and raise the lever

2. Keeping the short espresso and the brewed coffee buttons pressed down, turn on the machine

3. The multifunction alarm light will stay on with a fixed red light

4. Press the long espresso button to highlight the short espresso button. This will raise the temperature approximately 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit

5. Press the long espresso button to highlight the long espresso button. This will raise the temperature approximately another 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit

6. Press the long espresso button to highlight the brewed coffee button. This will raise the temperature approximately another 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit

7. The turn the machine off and on. "

I owned a NESPRESSO maker (model C101) for six months because my wife being French swore by them. Never owning a pod based coffe maker, it made wonderful espresso for the time it was in our possession. I had fair expectations for what it could do given it was such a small compact machine but I always found the espresso (even the strongest pod) a little weak. Also, I found the pods difficult to locate and often I would purchase in bulk from ebay to get a deal for a pod that was often coming in around 90 cents a piece. But since I had nothing to compare it to I didn''t venture out to locate greener pastures.

I had little to complain about UNTIL i went into a coffee bean location to purchase something before work (to be frank I don''t enjoy their in store coffee and was there due to limited options). They had a demo CBTL KALDI S04 for customers to sample SO instead of ordering a coffee I decided I would try the machine first and if it was miserable then I would purchase my typical americano from the cashier.

Well I can only tell you I was STUNNED. The coffee was strong, the creme thick and the double shot setting was plentiful (at least a third more than the Nespresso machine) and was just as good as any thing I would have purchased.

I can only generalize but most American''s, and clearly I enjoy a stiffer and stronger cup and this machine provides you with such a coffee both in espresso form and coffee form.

Additionally the pods themselves are very convenient and are about 40 cents a piece and can be found in store and bulk buying isn''t required and if you order 40 dollars a more a month from the subscription service they offer free shipping.

DON''T order the teas for this machine. To be honest, the machine doesn''t understand the idea of steeping. You can''t pressure brew tea. I''ve tried chai and Moroccan mint and they''re tepid and tasteless.

I''ve tried all strengths of the espresso pods and they''re all excellent. The coffee pods which are not espresso are good but are not as exception as the espresso and all brew hot but not scalding nor luke warm. I do recommend using a small metal cup or a small thick walled porcelain cup. A large cup dissipates the heat much faster, something I found happened with both the machines.

The only down side is the lever is sometimes very difficult to pull but that is the only down side.

And to clarify I use my at least 4 times a day.

I am very impressed with the CBTL machine and coffee capsules. I had a Tassimo for many years that I liked (as well as other coffee and espresso makers before that) and I am elated that I found such a great replacement! The Tassimo was good but since their move between Braun and Bosch, and the rise of Keurig, I don''t think Tassimo will be around much longer.

I was seriously looking at Keurig, which others in my family own. I was also looking at Nespresso. In the end, CBTL is the way to go. The price is great. The Kaldi model produces amazing coffee and espresso. It is simple to use and is very clean and elegant. The Nespresso options were way too expensive and only do espresso. I tried Nespresso samples in stores and CBTL is just as good if not better. I also think CBTL does a better job with espresso than Keurig. Keurig makes a good cup of regular coffee, but if you want really good coffee AND espresso, definitely go with CBTL. K-cups and CBTL capsules cost about the same, but I give end product quality points to CBTL.

I''d also recommend CBTL''s milk frother. I''ve made lattes, mochas, chai teas and steamers--all of them taste like the expensive coffee shop versions for a fraction of the cost. I can''t say enough good things about the CBTL products. I hope they start making Keurig nervous!

I''ve had this unit for about 6 months now and LOVE it. It doesn''t take up too much space, is very easy to operate and clean. The flavors of the drinks are all pretty good, with the Italian espresso being my favorite. The Kaldi even makes crema with both the espressos and the coffees, so you know you''re getting a good brew.

The unit is loud, though, so I have to wait until my preschool aged kids wake up in the morning before I brew my coffee as I don''t want them to wake up until necessary.

Although I love this machine and wouldn''t trade it for any of the other Single cup brewers out there, I docked one star because during the 6 months I''ve had this item, I''ve gone through about 15-20 pods that didn''t work. Keep in mind that I use about 2 a day. I put them in properly, but for some reason, the machine would get stuck after poking a hole in one of the ends of the pods, so I''d have to toss it. When I put in a new pod right after, it works fine, so I''m not sure if it''s a defective pod or if something''s going on with the machine.

Other than that, it''s perfect and amazing! The barista at the CBTL store I purchased this from even said that the Kaldi probably brews better coffee than when you can get at CBTL because each cup is a fresh, clean brew.

Electrolytic Cleaning Plate Save 20% Off

Electrolytic Cleaning PlateI was looking for a way to remove EXCESSIVE tarnish from our silverplate tea set, which is decorative only. I am lazy, so using the typical silver creams and foams is a pain...yeah, works fine but a lot of effort and messy.

I was hopeful that this would at least remove some of the tarnish, just to make the job easier. I was stunned at how well it works. Thrilled with the results, and even made the chore kind of fun.

HOWEVER...VERY IMPORTANT! As others have said, you will get good results ONLY by doing the following:

Use BOILING water (I filled the kitchen sink with a potful of boiling water)

Use Arm & Hammer "Super Washing Soda". I found it in the laundry detergent aisle at my grocer. Regular baking soda works just OK; the washing soda is the key.

And of course...be careful because the water is hot!

I added more soda than recommended and think that helped too. Anyway, I''m thrilled with how well this worked.

I tried this item, and am not so sure about the results. My item may have had too much heavy tarnish; but after even half an hour there was no change. I tried using baking soda and even washing soda, both to no avail. I also used just a plain aluminum pan and received the same results as using the plate (the cleaning plate is simply an aluminum plate). If you check online, you will find several websites showing how to remove tarnish by using soda, aluminum foil, or even just a small piece of scrap aluminum. Some people report good results with this method of cleaning silver. It may depend on how its used, and may have other variables.

While this claims you can use baking soda to clean your silver, it doesn''t work unless you get washing soda (a little hard to track down!) and nearly-boiling water. Once you have those, though, it works well!

I bought this to use on around 20 pieces of silver jewelry, some of which were very dull from being a year out of cleaning (but not yellow or brown with severe tarnish). My jewelry included a medium-weight triple-strand snake chain, several pair of dangle earrings, a charm bracelet full of charms, solid hoops, a couple of crosses and a fairly sturdy 1/8" diameter square sided linked chain. I believe all of these are 925.

My results were very iffy.

I used the electrolytic cleaning plate in a glass baking dish in the sink. First note: this is messy, the washing powder will get on the sides of the sink and you will need to scour it. I recommend doing this in a large plastic basin (maybe in a glass dish in a plastic basin).

The electrolytic cleaning plate seemed to work the best in the first 3 or 4 uses, then it seemed to "poop out" with the next batch as it got less tarnish off in the first pass with the next 4 pieces than it did for the first 4. About half the tarnish was removed the first time around, pieces were mostly clean only after several repeats. (I had to use the plate and solution 5 times for some pieces, and I used it 7 times for other pieces). The comments on needing to pour in the hottest boiling water are spot-on, anything less than boiling gets less of a result. Pouring water in with lightweight jewelry pieces is a pain. It sweeps them off the metal plate and you will need to fish in the solution with an implement to move them back on top.

I second the comment about not using for jewelry with stones -I forgot one of my charms on the charm bracelet had 3 marcasites in the corner and they all fell out (now have to take this piece to the jeweler for repair ouch).

Using the silver cleaning plate and washing powder several times as I described finally did create a uniform light silver color but not a shine, even when buffed with a cloth. So, I gave up and resorted to the old standby: silver paste and a soft toothbrush (lots of effort but has always given me great results). Frankly, this took the same amount of effort that it would have taken without the washing powder bath on the metal plate.

I would not buy again -too expensive and results are iffy. PLUS if I had known where to get the DIY information about cleaning silver via electrolysis with aluminum on the internet, I would have done that instead, as I own several aluminum baking pans. If you want to try this method out, do that instead and save your money.

MAYBE if you have an entire drawer of cruddy silver, this method would be worth using for several passes per batch to cut down on the sheer labor of hand polishing them all? Not sure. I''m giving this one star but wish I could give 1/2 or 1/4.

I was given this as a gift, and was hoping it would help me keep up with the silver. We''ve got lots. It says you can use baking soda, but having tried twice (once in a stainless steel sink and once in a ceramic coated Dutch oven) I can testify that it WILL NOT WORK with baking soda. And when I say "will not work" I mean there was absolutely no visible change whatsoever in the silver. My water was, as prescribed, HOT and all pieces of silver were touching the plate. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Bupkus.

I''ll be going to the grocery store tomorrow in hopes of finding WASHING soda, and I''ll try this item again. Should it work with WASHING soda I will update this review, and possibly change the rating from the one star I had to give it because I couldn''t give it fewer.

On edit, January 2, 2013:

I finally found WASHING soda at one of the grocery stores in town. With washing soda this works very well. I had some very badly tarnished items, and with 2 treatments they''re now clean and shiny. I would strongly advise wearing gloves while fishing items out, as the washing soda can be harsh on your hands.

Aquios Jumbo Water Softener/Filtration Replacement Cartridge Save 4% Off

Aquios Jumbo Water Softener/Filtration Replacement Cartridge
  • Salt-Free, Full House Water Softening and Water Filtration Treatment System
  • All-In-One system that conditions, filters, eliminates scale without pressure loss.
  • Compact design, requires no maintenance, programming or electricity
  • Commercial strength water conditioning and filtration, 6 month cartridge life
  • Jumbo housing with 1-1/2" inlets for homes that require higher flow rates

Installed this filter in Dec 2012. Our water hardness ~ 16. We understood before installation this filter doesn''t make our water softer, but prevents scale build up. I think that is very important to understand before buying this product. Results Water tests better, soaps do seem to work better, and hard scale build up is gone. The negative is you still get a lot of water spots, but they are much easier to remove. If you can''t stand the sight of spots then do not buy this product.

I installed this in a regular 4"x20" transparent water filter housing, not the Aquios branded housing. See my review here:

nuvoH2O Home Complete Salt-Free Water Softening System

The softener portion took some time to see the results, but hard water deposits are much easier to clean off and the ring around our aquarium is disappearing.

I thought it might improve the "sudsiness" of our soap/shampoo, but haven''t seen a big difference there.

We put in a new dark brass faucet in our kitchen a while before we installed this filter and have seen NO hard water spots on the new faucet base where water drips as you turn it off.

The filter portion of this is great! We have an upstairs bathroom gets sun on it all day and is quite warm in the summer. We had problems with algae growing in the toilet and would need to clean it at least weekly to keep the algae from growing. This filter definitely removes the chlorine from our water because the algae starts growing within a couple days. So now we have to solve that problem.

Overall I like the performance of the filter/softener and like having only one filter that does the job of both.

Bathroom faucet aerator with Flow Control Valve

Bathroom faucet aerator with Flow Control Valve - 1.0 GPM - Low FlowA dozen years ago the water department in our city sent residents packages of water saving devises. In the package was a bathroom faucet aerator with a flow control...I LOVE IT!!! Even after a dozen years of use on a bathroom sink...used several dozen times a day...it still works fine. I wanted some for my kitchen and other bathroom. None of the stores I went to carried them. Some employees didn''t even know what I was talking about. I was so happy when I found them through Amazon, but was disappointed with the quality of what I received. I finally got one out of the group I ordered that worked without spraying out the side. Another one I used some teflon tape to stop the little misty spray. The other one is pretty useless...unless it can be modified some way to control the every which way misty spray. These are great little water savers...so easy to use, but the manufacturer needs to do a better job!

You really need this ''switch'' on your faucet! Wil work on older kitchen faucets, but maybe not the new ones with the larger spout. Just adjust you water temperature and flip the lever to OFF then back ON when ready. No more splashes on the back board while turning water off and on.

Every house needs these!

Very happy with this. I had one years ago, but haven''t been able to find one in the stores since then. Works exactly like it''s supposed to. I can mix the tap water to the temp I want, flip the lever to soap up or brush, and because the dripping keeps the water from changing temp, it''s exactly right when I flip it back on. Between the lever and the low-flow, this product is doing exactly what I wanted, which is to *Save Money* I would have spent on water and gas for heating it. Yay!

They slow down the flow of water too much, otherwise they work fine. It takes longer to get to the hot water.

Watts Premier 500450 Water Pitcher Save 19% Off

Watts Premier 500450 Water Pitcher Powered by HALO Pure with LED Monitor
  • Water dispenser with filter. Reduces sand silt, sediment, rust, chlorine taste and odor in water
  • 99-Gallon filter capacity. More than twice the capacity of standard pour through filters
  • Filter-life gauge indicates when filter needs to be replaced
  • WQA tested and listed to ORD 0901 Microbiological Testing Protocol for pour through filters
  • NSF certified

I bought this Halo Pure water pitcher for our cabin. This pitcher has given us the peace of mind to not only make sure the well water is safer, but the taste is fantastic. It states it reduces the heavy elements, whereas retains the beneficial minerals which makes great sense. I really like the indicator light that tells us when we have gone through 99 gallons and time for a new filter, which I also purchased on Amazon. 99 gallons should last us about 4-5 months, which is way more economical and ecological than purchasing bottled water. I just don''t have much confidence in the cheaper pitcher models on the market. The design is very sleek, which fits well in our refrigerator

Filters 8 liters per day (maximum recommended). That''s just over two gallons.

Clear, easy to understand instructions.

All parts fit together easily. Good materials. Well made.

Recommended for potable water only. This is not something you should rely upon if the city water shuts down and you''re depending on runoff. I filter city water. Takes out the particulates and cuts the cholorine and other off-flavors and smells. Disolved oxygen remains, so the water doesn''t taste flat.

Takes about 15 minutes to filter a liter. May take longer as the filter clogs.

I noted a little black from the new filter. Instructions recommend discarding the first two iterations, so that became a non-issue.

I like this system very much. I ordered a second pitcher and three more filters.

This pitcher is great. The water tastes wonderful and it fits into my frig well. It is easy to fill and pour from. I like the counter that tells me when to change the filter. Filter was easy to install. Much less expensive than bottled water! I use the water for all my drinking water, for cooking, and also to make my coffee each morning.

The filters that this pitcher comes with have no effect on my tap water at all. Brita and PUR both work much better. I do, however, really like the design of the pitcher itself. So many water pitchers are so flimsy that you need to use both hands to pour in order to make sure the lid doesn''t fall off. This one doesn''t have that issue.

Here''s what I''ve done with it: If you have at least one of the filter cartridges that came with this pitcher, you can remove the black rubber gasket wrapped around it and place it onto a standard Brita filter. This allows the Brita filter to fit inside this pitcher, and it works really well for me. Every time you change your Brita filter, just remember to remove and wash the gasket, and then place it on the new filter cartridge. I have no idea if the LED counter effectively measures how often a Brita filter needs to be changed, but I use it as a guide (since otherwise I would just get lazy and never change the thing).

This a great, reliable, and easy to use water filter. It fits perfectly in my refrigerator and the sturdy design makes it easy to hold, pour, and refill when needed. It was an incredibly doable set up as well. Moving from Seattle, WA to the southern California area, the tap water had a "funny taste" but this filter took care of that issue remarkably. My water tastes great! I completely recommend this product for anyone in need of a water filter or ridding their water of that same "funny taste." :)
