Brita Disposable Faucet Filtration System

Brita Disposable Faucet Filtration System
  • Compact, horizontal design that is out of the way of activities around the sink.
  • System lasts up to 1 year; 3 times the filter life of 1 replacement faucet mount filter.
  • Healthier great tasting water
  • 2 stream feature for regular tap and filtered water
  • Electronic System Life Indicator

This device works as advertised and was very easy to hook up. It comes with a couple of different faucet adapters so whether the threads of your current faucet are inside or outside, there should be an adapter to handle it. The green light to indicate that the filter is still good is especially nice. My only complaint is that the flow if decreased by about 60-70% when using the filter so it takes a while to fill up anything larger than a drinking glass. Other than that, great product.

...and it''s just now time to change it out for a new one. I LOVE this filter! The water is crisp and clean right out of the faucet. And since it''s disposable, I don''t have to switch out a new $20 filter every few months! This thing works like a dream never leaked once, and you can move the filter around when you need to rinse the sink out! I highly recommend this fabulous product!

Having been spoiled on bottled water, the change was a little difficult. However, after hearing all of the negs about bottles and the environment, we decided to try this thing out. The good news is, it does what it says and so far we''ve had no problems. The installation was extremely easy and the green light is a nice touch. The only problem that I have with it is how bulky it is. Depending on the size and shape of your sink, it can get in the way of doing dishes and what not. However, overall, we are very satisfied with the product.

It took me 3 minutes to install the filter. It looks ok and it works as advertised. Very easy to use even for my 4 y/o. I have used the filter for 2 months already with no problems. Can''t wait to find out if it really lasts for one year.

I bought one 5 months ago and it fit right on my kitchen faucet. I did not need to use the rings/rubber supplements that come with it as my kitchen faucet had rings on the outside and the filter was easily screwed over it. It works just fine as far as the filtration of water is concerned. The water tastes better than most other kinds of filters we have used and the green indicator light works fine, even the toggle between filtered and non filtered water is good. The only and the worst drawback is that the part that screws over the faucet is made of plastic and its rings become flat overtime and mine broke a month ago and I had to buy a new one. The new one seems to be working fine for now but I know that its plastic is wearing out and will break. I might try other kinds of filters this time.

UPDATE ON THE ABOVE EXPERIENCE

I bought another of these filters, was able to screw it over the faucet and it worked alright for about three months but then the indicator light turned red (keeps blinking), thus warranting replacement. I have not been able to talk to BRITA customer service yet. I will not make the same mistake twice, er thrice.

CBTL Contata S03 Single Cup Brewer Save 19% Off

CBTL Contata S03 Single Cup Brewer, Black/GreyFirst, I am far from new to the single serve specialty coffee makers. I own 3 top of the line different brands of single serve machines; CBTL makes 4. The CBTL machine is well designed and manufactured. You can see the quality of this brewer when you are holding it in your hands. I find it very easy to keep clean and love the disposable waste bin hidden inside the machine. The brewer looks great on your cupboard or showcased on a cart in your kitchen. With a cart you can wheel your entire CBTL ensemble; capsules, frother, and of course, the Contata into your dining room or living room to serve guests. Out of all the specialty single serve brewers I own, my preference is the CBTL. Why? I can enjoy premium CBTL beverages while I live on the East Coast. You know what I mean. There is something to be said about brewing a quality premium brand of espresso, tea, and coffees. When you brew up an espresso, the crema is a reddish brown; good indication of a good espresso. These are not simulated espressos. My favorites are well, all of the caffientated CBTL espressos available. It depends on my mood which one I reach for. And this is the biggest pro, the CBTL Contata and Kaldi can brew those espressos and cremas at 15 bars of pressure; important for a true espresso. The Contata and Kaldi also have the ability to switch to the lower bars of pressure (3.5) needed to brew a good cup of joe. My favorite brews so far are the French Roast and the Viennese. I haven''t tried the House Brew yet. I will soon. You can brew a short shot, a long shot, or brew a regular 7 to 8 oz of coffee or tea. Speaking of teas, have fun and make your tea a Latte. Any tea from CBTL can be turned into a Latte. Yum. I love the Tropical Passion and the English Breakfast tea. The Morrocan Mint is superb. Mix in a little chocolate for Chocolate Mint tea Latte. Or stir in a little French Vanilla, for a Buttercream Mint Latte. So many people are worried about the lack of choices. CBTL is the new kid on the block, built on an open platform. Knowing Coffee Bean, the choices will be expanded. I''m hearing new drinks will be available during the holidays. Ok, that said. Any capsule made for a Caffitaly system can be used in any Caffitaly brewer. In Europe, there is Lofbergs, Ecaffe, and Dualit. Actually there are more brands of capsules than those mentioned. Which means those capsules would fit in a CBTL and vice versa. Will those capsules be sold in the USA, I''m reading yes eventually online coffee sites may bring the capsules across the sea. Even if that doesn''t happen, I''m very happy with the quality of drinks I get by using CBTL capsules. I''m hoping to see CBTL Kona, Blue Mountain, Creme Brulee, Hazelnut, and more. And I really think if any company will expand, it will be CBTL. Love my machine.

Edited to add on 10/30/11. I still love my Conata and CBTL frother. Wanted every one to know CBTL follows through on their promises. I walked into my local Bed, Bath, & Beyond today, and straight ahead when I walked through the door were several shelves of CBTL products and a great selection of CBTL Capsules. Not advertised any where on the net, not yet any way, I found 6 new CBTL coffees: 10% Kona, Costa Rica, Columbian, Butterscotch Toffee, Hazelnut, and French Vanilla. Yep, I did stock up!

Edited on 12/17/11. CBTL Contata and Kaldi are Caffitaly systems. Meaning, any Caffitaly capsule will fit in a Caffitaly system, which CBTL is. I recently bought Ecaffe caffitaly capsules from a store in Canada which ships to the states. Also, you can purchase Danesio caffitaly capsules in the states if you do a search. This expands on the inventory of coffees you can use and increases the utility of the brewer. I''m enjoying my CBTL more and more every day ; )

After much deliberation, I ended up choosing this machine over the Kaldi mostly because it looked like I would be able to fit a normal sized coffee cup under the spout with the Contata but not the Kaldi. A standard mug that is about 4.5 inches tall will fit with some room left.

I like espresso so it wasn''t a big deal for me but it would have been a deal breaker for my wife if she couldn''t use her favorite mugs.

It makes fantastic, consistent espresso and coffee. Have had it for about a week now and made about 40 cups of coffee without a problem. I am really glad I was able to find this. I was looking for a replacement for a broken Keurig (evidently a common occurrence) and was happy I found a machine that could make both coffee and espresso well.

So far no complaints and we are very happy with the purchase.

I''m writing this as my way of thanking the others who reviewed this machine. If I hadn''t found their reviews here on Amazon, I would not have known about this really nice little espresso / coffee maker.

We had a Keurig machine. As so many others have experienced, it went on the blink shortly after the warranty expired, producing wacky and random amounts of coffee regardless of the size chosen. Descaling didn''t solve the problem, either. After reading how so many others suffered through the same experiences, I decided the Keurigs were just poorly designed and was not going to buy another. So I was reading people''s reviews about the Tassimo machines and found a few others recommending CBTL machines (which I had never heard of). They pointed out that the CBTL''s actually did real espressos (15 bar pressure) and produced superior tasting drinks, plus they also did the lower pressure coffees and teas. The reviews convinced me to give one a whirl. Am I ever glad I did!

We got it just before Christmas, along with the CBTL milk frother. Less than a month later, we''ve made a LOT of lattes, mochas and coffees and are really happy with the machine and the frother. My favorite is a latte made with the Italian espresso short shot. The coffees are really nice, too, with their own rich crema, thicker and richer than anything you can get out of a Keurig. Granted, there''s not a huge choice of coffees for this machine (about 8 or so), but they are nice and distinctive; there''s good variety in the taste of what they do provide. For me though, when combined with the milk frother, the highlight of this machine is the superb espresso drinks you can make quickly and easily.

I highly recommend this machine, and I thank my Keurig for being so flaky: if it had been better behaved, I might have gone years without experiencing this much higher-quality home coffee machine. The CBTL is so far one of the more pleasurable and satisfying purchases I have made in a long time. Thanks to the reviewers who helped me find it. Hope it works well for you, too!

My fiance and I received this as a wedding present and HAD to open it before the wedding. It has proven to be an absolute dream machine.

Best Features:

sturdy construction, a manageable 8.8lbs

detailed manual (READ IT FIRST!) with lots of pictures

few, easy to read buttons

power save function

large water tank capacity

quiet, much quieter than my old espresso machine

pull length for each type of drink is adjustable/programmable to your own personal taste, this feature is THE BEST

Speaking of ESPRESSO... Yes, this machine does it. At 15 bars of pressure with a rich golden crema. The ONLY single serve beverage system that does espresso. Better espresso than my DeLonghi machine!

adjustable pour spout so your espresso doesn''t splatter into your cup

cartridges available at my local Coffee Bean shop, Bed Bath and Beyond stores, or online from CBTL or Amazon

will also take any Gaggia Caffitaly cartridge

Google "cbtl reusable capsules" and you''ll find a nice hack to make your cartridges reusable with your own coffee/tea ("official" reusable cup? No. Slightly ghetto? Maybe. Ingenious and money saving? You bet!)

Cautions:

IMPORTANT: You will need clearance over the top of the machine in order to pull and secure the lever while inserting/ejecting cartridges. So either use without a cabinet over it, or it will need to be pulled out for each use.

If you live out of the US, I would check the voltage requirements to make sure you don''t blow the unit.

Limited selection of beverage cartridge variety. CBTL has 4 espresso (inc decaf), 12 coffee (inc decaf), 4 tea, and a few flavored powder sachets. The company is planning on launching new flavors this holiday season.

Mug clearance. My Bodum double walled mugs do not fit under the spout without tilting. Fine for an espresso but not fine when the whole mug is full of hot coffee. However, that''s my own personal issue, being double walled they''re rather massive compared to normal coffee mugs. :)

Uses only filtered water (I just use my Brita) or bottled water

No official reusable cartridge YET (Google "cbtl reusable capsules" for a cool hack)

What a machine! It''s small but mighty -you are able to brew every type of coffee or tea drink using this single unit and its companion, the CBTL LM-145P Milk Frother, Black. Are you a fan of specialty drinks such as espresso, cappuccino, latte, special roast coffee, hot chocolate and flavored or regular tea? If you can dream it, you can make it.

The machine isn''t heavy and takes up only the same area on your counter-top as a regular coffee maker or 4-slice toaster. When you first open and unpack the machine from the box, you will need to put the filter piece in the clear plastic water reservoir, fill it with water (I use cold filtered water holds about a quart), and prime the machine. The handy instruction card that''s included will walk you through the process and then you''re ready to try making your first beverage. Select one of the CBTL capsules from their private collection of roasts and blends and pull back the top lever, drop the capsule in the slot and push forward to close it. Then push the button to start the brewing process. There are three water level settings on the machine -the smallest one at the top for espresso (about 1.5 ounces), the middle for long tea or other specialty beverages (about 3 ounces), and the bottom for brewed coffee or tea (about 8 ounces). You can experiment with the various levels to get the strength desired. I like to use an espresso capsule with the brew setting and top it off with warmed milk. When the coffee cycle is complete, remove your cup and raise the lever to eject the used capsule into the pull out receptacle behind the drip pan and discard it. After you have used your unit and are ready to turn it off for the day, run a short water cycle through the machine without a capsule to clear the small tubes. Clean up is easy, just remove the receptacle and rinse it off in the sink. I empty the water reservoir as well.

After a week with the machine and with the various products offered by Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf company, I''m a fan! The only drawback is that the capsules are not available in any local store and must be ordered online through the company -and each beverage serving will cost you about 60¢. When you go online to find out how to get the capsules you find the following information about the CBTL(tm) premium club:

What you need, when you need it!

Sign up for monthly shipments of your favorite CBTL(tm) Capsules and flavored powder sachets and you automatically become a member of our CBTL(tm) Premium Club. As a club member, you''ll receive:

* A low $5.95 fixed shipping & handling fee on monthly shipments.

* Free shipping with minimum monthly subscription of $40.

* Free CBTL(tm) Capsule Holder upon first-time sign up.

* Eligible to receive free limited edition espresso, coffee and tea samples.

* Exclusive promotional offers.

There are 4 espresso flavors including a decaf version, 4 coffee brews including decaf, 4 different teas including chai, and 2 powder sachets -chocolate and vanilla -to make the latte and mocha drinks. I have now used them all! According to the literature included with the machine and on the website, you cannot use any other brand (Keurig or Tassimo) in this coffee maker. That makes it difficult as you have to order the capsules online and pay about $6.00 for a package of 10 capsules and the shipping and handling fee unless you become a premium member with a monthly subscription. I know that my local grocery store carries other single serve capsules and hope that CBTL can get its product in the supermarket venue as well to make it easier to get what you want without the hassle and price of subscribing to a coffee delivery service. Amazon.com does offer the capsules on its website.

I am enjoying my coffee and tea each day. I recommend this product to anyone who wants to try the single cup brewer method. It does make a perfect cup of coffee or tea.

Let me start off by saying I hate the taste of municipal water. The chlorine and other tastes make in virtually undrinkable. That''s where this filter comes in.

For me, the bad news is that I can''t stand forking voer $40 to Sears for the privelige of screwing one of these into the filter port of my refrigerator. In my area, these filters are for some reason difficult to find in Big Box stores. I am not sure why. I have taken a chance before on no-name, unbranded filters from the internet and had good results. However, when I saw these OEM filters at a competitive price, I jumped and have not been disappointed. The water that is filtered through them tastes good (no chlorine or mineral tastes) and there are no leaks--they do precisely what inline water filters are supposed to do.

Buy the filters, be happy, and drink lots of water.

MultiPure MP750SC NEWEST MODEL Countertop Water Filter Save 4% Off

MultiPure MP750SC NEWEST MODEL Countertop Water FilterWe''ve had our filter for 3 years now. The water tastes so clean. This model was great for us as I wanted a filter, but didn''t think I had a place to mount the filter under the sink. We lived with it on the countertop for a year until we decided we loved having it, but were really tired of having it out in the open. Turns out drilling a hole to add multi-pure''s filter faucet was not a big deal at all. A contractor drilled a hole in our marble, no problem, and move the unit under the sink.

This is an absolutely excellent water filter.

First, the model I own is basically identical to the one pictured, except for it''s output fitting, which on mine cannot be converted to under sink use. Also I did not buy it through amazon. I actually bought it before there even was an Amazon.com. I purchased it through Multi-pure''s reseller program in 1996. Yes, that is right, I have owned my 750 for 16 years! Today It looks just as it looked when I purchased it, and most importantly, it''s output is still excellent, which is the main point. Another poster complained that it doesn''t look like the image, and my thoughts are that they got the wrong filter as the MP 750 line is flat bottomed and sits directly on the counter, or this one, which can be converted to be installed under the counter. (my mom has had this exact model for about 8 years) I have always had mine on the counter. The company recommends to replace the filter when the flow slows, or at least once a year. I have actually gone up to two years between replacement filters and have not noticed any issues whatsoever. The thing is is that the filter cartridges are not cheap, currently around $60 a pop. But for 2 years of excellent tasting water for drinking and cooking and giving water to my dog, it feels like a bargain. Also if you are a coffee aficionado, this water is really really good. No bad tastes imparted to your brew.

I realize I am being over the top here, but in this day and age to have one product that I use every single day for 16 years feels like a complete anomaly and I can''t help raving about it. No, I do not sell them, but I probably should as my mom has bought one as well as several friends over the years.

Finally, there is zero comparison to the crap plastic ones that attach directly to your faucet, or the brita jugs. The output volume is much higher and the water tastes far better and you can expect to keep this one for a very long time, thereby reducing its cost significantly when spread out over time.

Highly recommended.

Buy MultiPure MP750SC NEWEST MODEL Countertop Water Filter Now

First off the picture you see here is NOT what you will be getting. They seemed to have decided not to update the photo to what their newer model looks like and they''ve done that for a reason. There is no way anyone would by this based on it''s looks. The bottom of the filter is not flat like in the pictureIt''s round so that it absolutely cannot stand on its own. If you try it will roll off the counter. To fix this the company sends you a plastic base that you''re supposed to put this filter on so that it doesn''t roll over. This plastic casing is black and ugly and as if that wasn''t enough it actually adds a whole 3 inches of height to the filter. The result is that this filter is now extra huge and literally only 3.5 inches away from hitting the bottom of my upper cabinets. When people come over and come into the kitchen they always ask what the huge monstrosity is beside my sink that towers over the toaster oven I have near by. Having said that It does filter water well. the flow rate is fantastic! The water tastes greata little harder than with my last water filter, but I know that when many minerals get taken out of water it can often taste a bit harder.

LG LT500P-3 Vertical Refrigerator Water Filter Save 43% Off

LG LT500P-3 Vertical Refrigerator Water Filter, 3 Pack
  • Delivers clean, clear water that looks and tastes great
  • Uses revolutionized technology for water filtration, most of the impurities that water has are filtered away
  • Designed to provide up to 6-months of life or 500-gallons
  • Does not remove minerals which may be beneficial to health such as fluoride
  • The materials used in making LG water filters by CUNO are top quality materials ensuring that the products last longer

I purchased this 3-pack of water filters and I''m definitely impressed. Perhaps it''s the fact that I still had the original water filter from when I purchased my fridge back in October 2010, and the water and ice had a funky bitter taste to it. The funky taste is now gone, and my water and ice have a crisp, clean taste to them.

These new filters cleared that up since new charcoal is always a lot better than old charcoal.

One thing to note is that these filters are not built by LG itself, by by a company authorized/contracted by LG to make these filters, if that matters to you.

While these filters aren''t cheap (around $30 a piece), I ultimately decided to go this route rather than have to deal with some other shady vendors on Amazon, specifically a company that sold Swift Green filters for a low price that absolutely did not match the product description that they had on their Amazon webpage (they stated 900 gallons per filter, but it was only 300 gallons per filter). I returned those filters and went with these.

So be aware of the other products out there the marketing for these filters state 6-months or 500 gallons, and that''s exactly what''s on the box you receive.

I''ve been using these filters now for over a year, and they are an excellent low cost replacement filter. The filter was easy to install and works with my refrigerator''s change filter indicator light. The outer shell is thinner than higher cost filters, as a cost-savings measure. So you have to be a little careful not to force the filter when you replace it or you might damage it. But you shouldn''t force the filter, period, no matter what you buy. I''m very pleased with this purchase and when it comes time to buy more, I will buy more of these.

Having read a few comments on seller who ship Kenmore filter instead, I was quite concern. Although it may work the same, to me WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) is important when I buy stuff on-line.

Well, I can tell you that I get what I was looking for. The shipment arrive on the second day. I did compare it side by side to the one that came with my LG fridge, exactly matched. I replace it and run water though as suggested. The water come out clear, clean, odorless and taste good. I have two units to spare, hence I will be a happy customer for at least a good 18 months (this is my first replacement after I get my fridge for almost 2 yrs).

I''ll update this again in a few months.

Haier HU335W Ultrasonic Cleaner Save 58% Off

Haier HU335W Ultrasonic CleanerI read the 1st review of this item, and ordered the cleaner anyway, hoping for better results. Indeed my Haier machine works quite well. BUT...don''t expect jewelry and coins to come out sparkling clean, like the pictures and the hype. Instead, think of the machine as a shortcut to a lot of scrubbing with a toothbrush. Earrings gunked up with hairspray were somewhat cleaner after a few cycles; but then after just a short scrub with a soft brush, they were as good as new! Same with diamond rings, etc. The cleaner helped greatly, but did not clean everything immaculately all by itself. The cleaner really gets into the nooks and crannies in watchbands, etc., but again, some follow-up is needed with a brush.

In my opinion, it is definately worth it''s purchse price.

I''ve been using this machine once a month to clean my wedding rings and three years later they still look new. Does a great job of removing the buildup behind the diamond setting where a toothbrush just doesn''t quite reach. I also like the fact you can use plain water.

This is an inexpensive, good looking, and efficient enough cleaner, but may have very limited life due to faulty components. I''ve purchased three of these, and know now it was a poor investment. The first stopped working after 5 months, and thinking it just bad luck, bought two more; one, I gave as a gift and reportedly is still working, but the second stopped working for me after almost a year of regular use. It works well, but you''ll take your chances with this unit.

Hamilton Beach 12 Cup Brew Station

Hamilton Beach 12 Cup Brew StationI just received this coffeemaker directly from Hamilton Beach after my previous Hamilton Beach coffeemaker (purchased from Amazon) died after less than one year. Hamilton Beach replaced it under warranty after some bickering. I''m still chuckling about Hamilton Beach''s request that I cut the electrical cord on my old coffeemaker & mail it to them, then mail them a photo of the cordless machine (which I did). Luckily, I was able to search for the order & I e-mailed the date of purchase to Hamilton Beach. The HB before that one lasted seven years, but I guess those days are over with cheaper manufacturing & outsourcing of parts. I have always liked these carafe-free coffeemakers & the coffee always came out hot enough--provided you preheated the unit by running water through it before brewing coffee.

One of the supposed "upgrades" or "improvements" is the detachable water reservoir. I have never had trouble filling the old non-detachable reservoir, so I don''t find this feature especially useful.

The worst (and dumbest) thing Hamilton Beach could have done is to make the round filter in the coffee tank non removeable. With the previous models, the filter is removeable. I always left it off because it filters out too much coffee flavor & the coffee comes out weak regardless of how much ground coffee is used. Besides, I always use filtered water anyway. I just made a 12-oz cup of coffee & I used 5 tbsp. of coffee which should make pretty strong coffee. The coffee came out weak. I prefer coffee with a little cream & sugar, not cream & sugar with a little coffee.

I bought a $10.00 Hario Coffee Drip from Starbucks & made better, stronger coffee using less grounds than with this machine.

Had I paid for this machine, I would have returned it.

If you like weaker coffee, you''ll like this coffeemaker, otherwise, buyer beware.

Update: 10-13-12: After contacting Hamilton Beach & asking if I could remove that filter without damaging the unit, they explained that I could not, because if I did remove it, coffee would leak from the tank. So, I tried an interesting trick: After making the coffee, I lifted the coffee tank & poured the coffee directly into my cup instead of using the dispenser lever. That bypasses the filter. The coffee came out a bit stronger but still rather weak. WARNING: If you do it that way, you have to be very careful not to touch that metal heating plate at the bottom of the tank. Yeah...it''s very HOT.

UPDATE: 10-28-12. I found my older Hamilton Beach Coffeemaker & made an interesting discovery that further explains why the coffee is so weak regardless of how much coffee is used. On my old HB coffeemaker, there are NINE LARGE HOLES, spaced far apart in a large shower-head design that allows the hot water to fall on ALL the coffee in the basket simultaneously. This is ideal. On this new coffeemaker, there are only SEVEN SMALL HOLES close together (like a hose nozzle) so the coffee can''t possibly be completely saturated by the water. This is likely a much bigger issue than the permanent filter in the tank. MAJOR FAIL on Hamilton Beach''s part. If you use expensive coffee in this machine, you''re wasting money with each cup.

For our last 4 coffee makers we purchased only Hamilton Beach Brew Stations. This latest is the best so far due to the separate water tank. While I agree with others that a light would be helpful under the fill spout, the only thing that really concerns me is the percolating sound it makes for the entire 2 hours that it is keeping our coffee warm. None of the other models over the years have made this continuous noise. It sounds like the coffee is still brewing when it clearly isn''t. I''ve never seen a review that mentioned this problem, so maybe it''s an isolated issue. If anyone has input I''d like to hear it. Other than that, once again we''re satisfied with the brew station.

Buy Hamilton Beach 12 Cup Brew Station Now

This is my 3rd Hamilton Beach Brewstation. The first lasted 3 years and the last one still works after 3 years but looks old and tired in our new kitchen. So it was a no-brainer to try this new iteration of a great concept in drip coffeemaking.

It makes fantastic coffee every time. Bold, regular, iced coffee all great!! We clean the filter and tank every morning so they don''t get scuzzy, and we clean the pot itself every month with either vinegar or dispenser cleaner. Not a problem ever. Easy to program, looks good on the counter, with an improved footprint from the 48464 (not as tall or deep, but slightly wider to allow for the water reservoir). A snap to use. Love the fact there''s no carafe and we can fill up any container we want to easily and quickly from the well-positioned, high pour spout.

We feel the use of filtered water is important, not only to the taste of the coffee, but to the longevity of the machine as well. For this reason, the addition of the water reservoir was an important selling feature for us. However, when we try to use it at the filtered water dispenser on our fridge, we find its curved shape and non-removeable lid make this awkward, so we''re back to filling a Rubbermaid pitcher and pouring filtered water into the reservoir that way. Note this Brewstation has no water filter inside the tank.

We''d love it if there was light at the pour spout so we can see when to stop pouring when the only light comes from undercounter lighting or from the instrument panel (which lights up the room at night with a pleasant soft blue glow).

If this machine had a lighted pour spout and an a removeable water reservoir lid, it would be PERFECT! :D

I like the idea of the brew station, but after a few days I returned it to the retailer. There were two issues. First, even on the "BOLD" setting, it require more coffee than my old $20 pot to get a good flavorfull cup of coffee. Intead of 12 tbs as recommended, it needed 14-15 to get a strong enough brew. Most importantly, it would not keep the coffee hot enough in the on-board pot. Even after being in the resevior for 30-40 minutes, I still had to microwave each cup to get them piping hot.

I don''t know if I go a lemon, or if this is normal for a Brewstation. I didn''t take a chance on another. I''ll go back to a conventional coffee maker.

This is the third BrewStation we''ve owned. The first one had that horrible leaky tank problem... the second one was pretty good and lasted us for a long while, but still had the issue w/being difficult to fill, plus the serving spout was too low for filling travel mugs.

When the second one died w/o warning (still not sure what happened), I purchased this machine. I really like the look, the removable/refillable water tank, and the higher dispensing spout. The coffee is very good and stays drinkable until the end of the pot. The features of this machine (timer, customizable ''keep warm'' time) are the same as the last machine I had, so nothing new to remark on there, but it works well. I particularly like the fact that the ''program'' button glows brightly and is easy to see across the room when I''m not quite sure whether or not I''ve already set it up for the next day (don''t ask, I''m getting old.)

Carbon Fiber Solid Rod .08x39.4" Save 4% Off

Carbon Fiber Solid Rod .08x39.4''I used these as replacement tail solid booms for my Blade mcpx v2 and cpx nano helicopters, I recommend these to anyone. Great upgrade mod

Mine was in a cardboard tube so it didn''t break during shipping. Fits perfectly and works great as a custom solid tail boom mod for the Blade mCP X V2 RTF. I use a Dremel 4000-2/30 120-Volt Variable Speed Rotary Tool Kit cut off wheel to get the length then flatten each end with a Dremel grinding tip to get it to fit into the MCPx frame and tail motor assembly. I figured I''d make a few replacement booms for when I crash and break them but the first one I made hasn''t broken yet. I''ve crashed at least 10 times with the solid boom and it''s still in perfect shape.

Extech PH100 ExStik Waterproof pH Meter Save 28% Off

Extech PH100 ExStik Waterproof pH Meter
  • Flat Surface pH electrode is waterproof and rugged enough to withstand harsh environments
  • LCD display shows pH from 0.00 to 14.00, temperature and bargraph of trends in acidity or alkalinity; device stores and recalls up to 15 labeled readings
  • RENEW feature that tells you when it''s time to replace your pH electrode
  • CAL feature that tells you when it''s time to recalibrate your meter
  • Includes meter, protective sensor cap, sample cup, 4 SR44 button batteries, and 1 48-inch (1.2m) neckstrap

I have been using this instrument for 4 years and found that for the most part it works okay, however at times it has been known to suddenly stop working (it doesn''t give a reading above 1 and/or has a strange flashing symbol in place of a number) for no apparent reason. In 4 years I''ve sent 2 units back to the manufacturer who sent replacements, but did not explain what was wrong or how to avoid future problems. I take good care of the instrument cleaning, calibrating and storing correctly. The unit stopped working again a couple of weeks ago and I have to assume it needs a new electrode, even though there was no ''RENEW'' signal (I''ve never actually seen the symbol the whole time I''ve used the meter). I do find I''m left guessing about what to do to make the meter work again if it packs up! Something else that bothers the heck out of me is that the electrode needs to be replaced fairly often (every 6 months using it on average 2 to 4 times per week) and $39+ each time hurts (and forget the refillable model too never worked again after it needed refilling).

The ExStik pH100 does not work. If I had the time, I''d make a video review to go along with these words. Even after calibration, using ExTech''s own solutions, the pH100 fails to read pH levels anywhere near-accurate. It randomly reports its ''findings'', even when using the same sample being tested. The fault may be with the included pH electrode (and sealed solution), which you have no way of knowing the condition or age of, because it''s not packaged separately or appropriately for sensitive electronics. For the cost of this item, you''d expect some level of quality. Look elsewhere, because this product will disappoint both you and your wallet. But, if you still want to buy this piece of junk, I''ll mail you mine for just the cost of shipping. You''ll still be getting ripped off, but you won''t feel so bad as purchasing at full price.

The unit is accurate and works as advertised. Minor detail they DON''T mention. You really want to calibrate it for the most accurate readings. To do this you need PH 4 and PH 7 solutions which are NOT included. Luckily I have a friend in the chem business so I got some free. Otherwise you are stuck having to buy a bottle of each. The unit does work out of the box, comes with batteries (little watch style, so will be $$ to replace down the road, but hey the do give you batteries to start with) and does a decent job even without calibration.

It''s only marginally more expensive than the Hanna pH Checker I had, but worth at least twice as much. The auto calibration feature works great (put it in a buffer solution, press "Calibrate" and it automatically detects the buffer pH level and calibrates itself).

I bought this for our business. Usually when inspector comes, he complains of the old PH meter that we used and it had to be calibrated manually. So, he thought that it wasn''t accurate and we were trying to cheat on him. Honestly, many of our staffs/chefs don''t know how to adjust up to the point. This helps so much and it automatically adjust and calibrate to the most common PH 7 and PH4 (depending on the buffer solution). I strongly suggest to purchase this. The downside is the cost which is pretty much close to $90 and the not renewable part. The other model can renew the part but that model is more expensive than this. So, over all, it''s excellent and 4 stars item.

I expected more from Watts.

(As in the claim "Filter re-mineralizes, pH balance, proper alkalization, far-infrared activation and balanced mineral elution of RO water")

Reviews of final water ph on this filter range from "It does nothing" to "PH 8 and up"... and I know WHY this is so.

(BTW you can''t test water ph properly with paper strips!)

I just got off the phone with watts premier tech support and they tell me that ph 6 is neutral (!) and that is what the filter is specified to produce.

Every grade school kid knows 7 is neutral...more on that below...

What it actually does is produce a brief spurt of ph 8 water, then once the water that has been sitting in the cartridge itself has passed out the faucet, it reverts to doing nothing much.

Meaning after it sits a couple hours, it yields an initial cup full of alkaline water, then the rest of your water is pretty much untouched. Boo....

The science I used to test it three sources, my own calibrated lab ph meter with a water electrode, the local water treatment plant, and a separate test of my own with phenol red reagent. Results as described above.

The science they ignored to reach the "brilliant" conclusion that 6 is neutral:

The pH scale measures how acidic or basic a substance is. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14. A pH of 7 is neutral. A pH less than 7 is acidic. A pH greater than 7 is basic.

The pH scale is logarithmic and as a result, each whole pH value below 7 is ten times more acidic than the next higher value. For example, pH 4 is ten times more acidic than pH 5 and 100 times (10 times 10) more acidic than pH 6. The same holds true for pH values above 7, each of which is ten times more alkaline (another way to say basic) than the next lower whole value. For example, pH 10 is ten times more alkaline than pH 9 and 100 times (10 times 10) more alkaline than pH 8.

UPDATE:

Also put a review directly on the manufacturers website. They declined to publish it.

Guys, the science does not lie. You can alkalize a few ounces of water sitting in the cartridge over a period of an hour or so, but you can''t treat water as you dispense it through that cartridge to an alkaline ph in a single pass that lasts only about 3 seconds tops...

VERDICT: Let it sit an hour, then test the first cup of water out of the filter, you''ll get ph 8 or even 10. Let it run a bit and then sample it, and it''s going to be just as acid as it was without this thing installed... !

I feel compelled to write this in response to a previous review. The first review is totally inaccurate due too the fact that pH filter was installed incorrectly. It''s not supposed to be installed on the line from the tank to the dispenser. It''s supposed to be installed on the line from the ro filter to the tank. That way, as the water slowly enters the ro storage tank, it is balanced by the ph filter. Then you have a tank full of ph balanced water available on demand. Better instructions should be included with the filter & on the Watts website as far as the importance of proper installation. I happened to come across this on another site when researching the ph filter. Try your ph test after installing the filter correctly. In all fairness the initial review should be retracted or amended until the filter is properly installed.

I measured the pH of the water on first use, it was off the charts alkaline with a reading > 9.

Then, I ran it for a while, and took another measurement. It was closer to neutral, between 6.5 and 7.5.

Then, I emptied the system, let it process for a while, and tried again. This time, it was off the charts acidic, < 5.

Can''t tell what this thing is really doing, but it certainly isn''t doing anything consistent and appears to be basically worthless.

After more than a month still very happy with this product.

Pros

Test performed by filling up to one gal pitcher.

Water tastes very good (Wife confirmed.)

PH was 6 now it is 8+

Alkalinity 120

Hardness 0

Installs fast

Comes with quick disconnects

Small size

I think filter addresses main health concerns of demeneralized water.

Google "world health organization demeneralized water pdf"

I will get full water profile in a month.

Cons

Water despenses slower

Standard RO water makes better cafe

Standard RO water cleans better

Standard RO water might be better for steam cleaner and iron

Installed between tank and polish filter, because flow to tank is ~.07 gal/min.

Higher PH in tank should extend it''s life and reduce chances of bacteria build up.

Make sure that you poke the pipe deep into the disconnect or you get water all over the place.

RO water is corrosive as it seeks metals to absorb. Not as pure/absorbing as deionized water (which you shouldn''t drink) but still needs minerals to be added back in. Also, if there are any copper piping/fittings that RO water has contact with, it will eventually fail as it strips copper into the water. Copper is toxic in low ppm levels, so that''s another reason to add minerals back into RO water.

My RO water tastes better now. This changes the pH from acidic to alkaline by adding minerals, like calcium. City water should always be slightly alkaline for reasons mentioned above. Often lime (calcium) is added at the water plant. A good RO unit will remove most of the calcium in the city water and minerals in well water.

I think this is a must to have for drinking water off of a RO unit. Doesn''t make sense to use this without RO, as a review I read somewhere indicated that the water tasted funny. It make might if used with well or city water.

The intervals between change out would be dependent on the pH of the RO water it treats.

ZRO-4 Undercounter 4 Stage Zero Waste RO Water Filter

ZRO-4 Undercounter 4 Stage Zero Waste RO Water FilterWe''ve had this system for over a year now. Water quality and operation is fine, but it is very difficult to install and maintain and comes with poor instructions. Maintenance parts are expensive, and do not include everything you need to carry out the maintenance procedures.

We had to get a handyman to install this system and it took him several hours to put it together. Then we realized that the system requires power and has to be plugged in to operate. Unfortunately, our home, like most homes, did not have electrical outlets under the kitchen sink. So we had to call an electrician to install an electrical outlet for the unit to be plugged in. By the time we were done, we had spent more on the handyman and the electrician than what we paid for the system!

Maintenance is also hard. The system require filters to be changed every six months. The replacements kitts and shipping charges from the Watts'' website are expensive. I would tolerate that if the replacement procedure was easy enough. Unfortunately, it''s quite frustrating. The system has several parts and connections. The instructions in the accompanying manual are difficult to follow. In this day and age, you would think Watts could post a video on their website? The biggest problem is that the filter housings get so tight that you cannot unscrew them with your hands to replace the filter. You need to purchase a special wrench, which Watts does not bother including in the filter change kit. You have to order it separately and pay even more in shipping charges.

I have been using this for several years. It works great. Previously I had a wasteful RO system. It trickled water down the drain 24-7. Big waste of water and noise enough to bother me sleeping. This produces about 2.5 gallons a day, which could be plenty or not enough. This one has a small electric pump, which hums when its making water, quiet when it''s done. The water is perfect.

CRYSTAL QUEST® Undersink Replaceable Triple Fluoride Water Filter System

CRYSTAL QUEST® Undersink Replaceable Triple Fluoride Water Filter SystemWe bought this water filter after doing hours of research. We wanted a comprehensive water filter that removed fluoride and was affordable. After much consideration of the options we decided to go with this one. We have been using it for a few weeks now and so far so good. We are pretty pleased with this purchase. The water tastes good and we have tested it at about 50-55 PPM which is good for this type of filter I read it''s fine under 100. It says to have a licensed plumber install it for the warranty to be in effect. However, being that my husband is very capable and a great handyman he said he would be able to do it after he read through the instructions to see what was involved. He did not have to do any drilling, he just removed the sink sprayer. It took hime approx. 1-2 hrs to install ( he split it up into two nights.) We did buy a pressure regulator for the line as it is recommended. It arrived quickly through the Amazon seller:Sparkling clean water filters.

After we had this filter installed, the water had a stronger chlorine taste than our tap water without any filter and way more chlorine taste than with our old, less expensive filter. We contacted the seller, who responded promptly. He contacted the manufacturer, who had to be nudged a few times, but after a few days responded with a phone call. The manufacturer sent us a new filter for the chlorine.

After we installed the new filter, the water didn''t taste of chlorine at first drink. But if it remains in a glass bottle in the refrigerator for more than a few hours, the chlorine taste is still there. I''ve solved it right now by purchasing bottled water for the water we keep in our refrigerator. If we fill a glass from the filter and drink it immediately, there is no taste. But we like our water cold, and the water from this filter tastes quite strongly of chlorine after a few hours. (Our old, less expensive water filter never developed a chlorine taste. I wish we had stayed with that!) But we wanted a filter that removed fluoride from the water. Maybe I''m just a skeptic, but I can''t help but wonder if the chlorine filter does such a poor job of filtering out the clorine (which you can taste), is it really removing the tasteless fluoride! We are very disappointed in this product to say the least!

I looked into returning the whole unit, but the shipping would be expensive. So, I am going to purchase bottled water and put up with this product for a while until purchasing a different filter doesn''t seem like too bitter of a pill to swallow! I certainly wouldn''t recommend this one. I would probably give it zero stars if that were an option, except that the seller was prompt and courteous.

after looking at several on here , I went with this due to floride filter , well made and good sturdy dispenser , not plastic like several , a plumber could have installed this in a hour , but because I didnt have the correct coupling under the sink it took a trip to the hardware store and several rebuilds to get the leaks to stop at my connection ,,,, not hard at all , just under every sink is different to connect to ..... had one leaking filter , called the seller 4 times and never got a call back! called the manufacturer and got it corrected instantly, they fould my name and order and were very helpful and sent me out bunch of o-rings I got the next day , turns out the problem leak fixed itsself , but now i have some parts if I need them ..........

Whynter 14,000 BTU Dual Hose Portable Air Conditioner Save 22% Off

Whynter 14,000 BTU Dual Hose Portable Air ConditionerI got this to supplement the window unit I''ve been using for years and ended up just completely replacing the window unit.

Very robotic design, it stands around 3ft tall and is in fact rather slim once you take it out of the packaging. Came with all the necessary accessories to get it running immediately. Hooking it up and putting the hot air vent where my window A/C used to be was extremely straightforward.

We usually power it up after my daughter returns from pre-school and set the temperature to around 74F. It usually shuts off at about 2am when the room and outside temps are nice and comfortable. The air is extremely cold around the unit and gets a good sized room down to a nice temp really fast. It seems very quiet during the day with all the other sounds and my daughter has slept like a baby ever since we got it. I does emit a low hum when it''s cooling but otherwise the fan sound is not noticeable to me. You can turn it on high for a few minutes but after awhile, that''s overkill. It does a great job on a low fan setting once the room is almost at the temp you want it at.

I really like the idea of not having to use central air like in our old apartment. I think over time the utility savings will easily cover the cost of the unit. The best part is I can bring it with us if we ever move.

It''s worked excellently for a couple of weeks now and I may just end up getting another for our own room.

Whynter Eco Friendly 14000 BTU Dual Hose Portable Air Conditioner

This has been a lifesaver during hot summer days. I agree with the negative reviews about it being noisy, but I have it in my bedroom and I got used to it after 2 nights. I sleep through it now. The LED is also very bright, but not so much that it keeps me awake. I took off a star because of the useless window mount. The hoses weren''t long enough for it to reach my window, so I went to Home Depot to build a rig. Replacement hoses are EXPENSIVE, so I didn''t buy them. The screws are very short and pop right out of the cheap plastic mount, so I''m using tape to hold them in place. I have since moved and now have casement windows, so I''m in the process of building a new mount in which I will screw the hoses directly into a piece of plexiglass which will sit in the window. I''ve read that this will work fine, so I''m not concerned about it. One of the negative reviews I read about this unit is that it failed to cool the space. It is designed to cool roughly 600 square feet (a small apartment) so it works fine for my place. I also use a fan to push the cool air into the other room. I like the look of the unit, as well as the fact that it can be a fan or a dehumidifier. I bought plastic tubing for the water collection tank, but it has yet to produce a single drop. The vent hose is doing its job.

I have a canopy tent and use it often during the summers here in Florida. I got this unit to provide a bit of repost to the heat/humitity and it did a wonderful job.

What caught my eye about this product was the low amp/voltage use. I connected a amp/volt monitor and discovered it pulled about 9.73 amps, a little lower than the 10.5 I saw in the user manual.

I connect a drain tube, so I can''t comment on how quickly the water repository fills up. I do say it is the coldest portable AC unit I have ever used.

Defiantly a good buy.

This AC unit is amazing!I ordered it on a Saturday and it said "may take two weeks for delivery" but I received it by Thursday (bought through Amazon so shipping was free two-day).

PROS: It looks great! Compared to other portable units, it isn''t heavy at all (whoever said it was must be a super light weight because I''m a 120lb, 5''6" girl and I got it up a set of stairs just fine, it only weighs like 70-ish pounds plus it has wheels, although it was a little awkward to hold on to because it is tall.) It cools super quickly, the room was 80 when I turned it on and it easily cooled it to 65 degrees in two hours. I live in New England where it isn''t humid, but the summers get into the hundreds, I haven''t had trouble with needing to pump water out of it, but I don''t have to deal with humidity. The hoses are flexible, I don''t have to have the AC directly in front of my window (it''s about a two feet away from the hose holes in the window). The frame that holds the hoses in the windows was just perfectly sized for my (standard sized) window, but if my window was any larger I would''ve needed to jerry-rig it. The remote is super easy to use (although it doesn''t light up).

CONS: The unit is a little loud, but still quieter than my old window-based AC. The hoses are a little clunky and are white so they stand out next to the unit. The LED is bright, but I put a sticky note over it and I don''t have any problems sleeping with it. I use the remote instead of the buttons on the unit because they are easier to see (the labels for the buttons are etched into the unit so the writing is black on black, but I have a dark room, so light would probably fix this.)

Overall I love this unit! I would definitely reccomend it!

I built a bar in my garage that is ~ 600 sqft. Now understand, it has walls and insulation but the exterior is corrugated tin and gets very hot. I started my journey of research to find a unit to make it comfortable. I looked at all sorts of options and spoke to several AC installers. Typically speaking, AC''s are rated by the BTU''s (12K BTU per 400 sqft) and I knew that 14K was not enough to cool down 600 sqft . I thought I would try it anyway because of the ease. When the unit arrived I took it out of the box, connected a few things, and turned it on (yes it is that easy). Just remember...there are two hoses in the back of the unit (intake and output). The output hose must be ventilated and the input needs to be left disconnected from the window. The intake is what pulls the air from the room, the unit cools the air, the cold air is blown back into the room and the hot air it vented out. That is basically how a unit (any AC unit) works.

Contrary to my thoughts, it works great. It is not real loud (as some say it is). Even in July with 105° Texas heat and 98% humidity this unit will pull the temp down to a comfortable degree. It will take about an hour and a half but it is well worth it.

Jelmar CLR CL-12 28-Ounce CleanerI used CLR to remove hard water build-up around a few sinks in my home. I used it straight out of the bottle and let it sit for a few minutes. With some scrubbing it removed the build-up. The next project was the shower with glass wall and door. It was a mess of water spots and soap scum. I tried regular household cleaners, WD40 and some other "secret weapons" found on the web no luck. I them wiped CLR with a soft sponge all over the shower and let sit for a few minutes. Next up, scrubbing and rinsing -success! Most of the spots were gone and the glass looked much improved. Keep in mind, it takes work, not just spray ''n wipe.

A problem that occurred in our old toilet was that some kind of scale or calcium build-up prevented the flapper from sealing the tank properly, so that the float valve was being continuously activated. We drained the tank and let a quarter inch deep of CLR soak overnight. After that the flapper was once again able to seal the tank and the float valve was no longer constantly triggering.
