TotalPond MF13015 Mechanical & Biological Filter For Up To 500 Gallon Ponds Save 30% Off

TotalPond MF13015 Mechanical & Biological Filter For Up To 500 Gallon Ponds With PumpI have a 350 gallon outdoor pond with 3 turtles and a couple dozen minnows. The filter works very well to keep the water clean. It''s a biological filter and needs a few weeks to allow for the build up of good bacteria. Once the bacteria blooms, the water stays clear.

I clean the filter pads about once every 3 months and clean out the entire filter once every 6 months when I move the turtles from their outdoor pond to their indoor pond and vice versa.

This filter coupled with a UV filter to kill algae (what causes the water to turn green) has kept the pond water crystal clear. If the pond wasn''t in full sunlight, the UV filter wouldn''t been needed.

I have had this setup for over 2 years and have been very happy with it. Since the turtles are getting larger, I will be going with a larger pump, but the setup will remain the same.

I have a very small fish pond in my backyard that has become very green and looks nasty. I haven''t seen my fish for months. My aunt has a fish pond and it has a filter with bio balls in it and her pond is crystal clear so I thought I would try one. I am not sure if there is a difference in filters, but this one is not working for me. I hate to think my little pond is beyond repair, but I am not sure what will turn it around. I have had the filter for 3 weeks now and I clean the filter pads every 2-3 days and there has been no change to my dirty green water. Hoping it will clear things up soon but I am highly doubting it.

Hydro Life G 2625 Water Filter for HL 170

Hydro Life G 2625 Water Filter for HL 170 - Threaded
  • Installs easily under a kitchen or bathroom sink
  • Greatly reduces bacteria
  • Has a working pressure of 20-125 psi

This item is Hydro Life #HL-170 TF. The photo shown of this product is incorrect: it is a #3 and has threaded ends and no tube. Fortunately it is what I needed for my rig. It seems to work well at making drinking water taste good and it says it "significantly reduces" many contaminants that a carbon filter doesn''t. However, I cannot find any specific data. I even emailed Hydro Life but they never responded.

If you are near a Camping World and in their Presidents Club, it is $5 cheaper less any sales tax. It is about $8 cheaper at online RV suppliers but they charge $16 for ground freight. So if you are a Prime member, this is the best deal.

Filters good but it decreased my water pressure drastically. I bought this because the RV park I am staying in uses well water.

Beckett 7125210 Waterfall Kitfirst off THE HOSE IS ONLY 10 FEET!so much for that "20 feet of tubing"??? the picture makes it look bigger so realize that its small. other than that its awesome, great for ponds with different levels and lots of streams and water falls like mine.

It''s working right now, looks good, sounds pretty good too. I play with the h20 landing, more rocks etc. so it sounds louder. Just what I needed for peace.

For the money, its worth it. Our waterfall / pond is about 14 by 20, so we needed a bigger liner. But for the money, it was worth it to get this system and a $165 liner, or else you would be spending a lot more to piece it all together.

This is a video of the pump being turned on and running, with the waterfall about 90% complete. We added the remote electric box under the deck so the pump runs on a remote we can turn on and off from the house.

The filter seems to work good, I got a large 5'' sheet of filter material off Amazon and just cut the pieces I need. I was not able to find the exact filter on line to buy.

You will need to buy lava rocks from Depot or Lowes in the BBQ section to go in the bag to hold down the filter in the weir.

As you can see we are only going up about 4'' and the pump can handle a LOT higher then that, but its a nice pressure as we have it split 3 directions when it exits the weir.

The only problem I have is when we run this, for a few hours, we seem to loose water somehow but can not locate and leaks or leaking out the weir anywhere. But I guess its good to add fresh water anyway so I can live with it, and so can the frog that lives there too now.

The product works fine. It came in a very beat up product box but all items were functional-probably last years model. The 10 foot hose was a little disappointing. It kept cracking when I tried to put it on to pump. After cutting off several inches on both ends finally got it on without cracks. Is working just fine in the pond, now.

3M Scotchgard Fabric Protector
  • Repels spills and stains from fabric and upholstery
  • Protects with Scotchgard
  • 10 oz. aerosol
  • Safe to use on delicate and dry clean only fabrics such as silks and wools
  • This item is not for sale in Catalina Island

Excellent fabric protection for new furniture, cheaper (and quality more controllable) than having manufacturer put it on. Only concern might be chemicals for those with multiple chemical sensitivity. Also, wish it were just a little cheaper. I used 2 whole cans to cover one reclining rocker (can says one can will cover two chairs). I didn''t overspray either, just light coverage back and forth at the appropriate distance. When that dried, I did apply another light coat, as recommended, rather than one thick spray coat.

We own five rentals so last year when we bought and furnished a new one we purchased 5 cans of the spray. I applied it to a corduroy Sofa Loveseat and kitchen and dining room chairs; honestly I didn''t know what to expect, but I followed the directions used four cans and off it went for a six month rental. I just got access to the home and although the unit was fairly dirty there e=were no stains or wear marks anywhere on any of the furniture; these were not the cleanest of people and I spent a lot of time cleaning the home. The best part of it was that I vacuumed the upholstery and it all came back looking like new.

We have added another home and newly furnished it I ordered another five cans and coated a loveseat sofa chair kitchen chairs (4) dining room chairs (4) and two bar stools and I still have a can left.

I also found out that by coating the outdoor furniture wicker with cushions that not a bit of mildew built up during the 6 month period; we are hoping for the same results this year and I will update this post after this season.

It is easy to apply make sure it is well ventilated and wear a mask if you can. I hope you are as happy with the product as I am.

UPDATE: A little over a year ago we treated the aforementioned furniture a quick vacuum and a light refresher coat and they look like new; my thoughts are the same I think this is a great product.

Growing up I owned several pairs of white Keds and to keep them clean, my dad sprayed them with scotchgard. His pet peeve is dirty shoes and now (shockingly!) it''s mine as well. So when I recently bought a couple pairs of TOMS shoes in a lighter color, I immediately needed to spray them with Scotchgard to protect them from stains, just like my dad.

Application and smell was exactly as I remembered, they dried fast, and did not affect the colored fabric of the shoes. The Scotchgard does exactly as advertised, I got them a little wet and the water beaded-up on the shoes fantastic!

Evidently I am not the best walker because my heels always have scuff marks on them (I assume from scuffing on each other) and with the Scotchgard protected shoes, they are easily wiped clean.

Scotchgard is a trusted name to protect belongings and continues to work as advertised. I am back to order more, so that I can Scotchgard everything in my life (my poor husband!)

Highly recommended!

What more can I say. I used this on a tablecloth and it works great for my little ones spills. The liquid just beads on the fabric. I''ve washed it several times in the laundry.

I used this product 4 years ago when I bought a couch. Sprayed all the surfaces that came in contact with the body. After 4 years, and 1 reapplication in between, no oil stains on the headrest and no dark marks on the hand rests. Family had spilled drinks & food on fabric which came out completely. Very satisfied with product. Bought it again when we upgraded our furniture and sprayed everything down. Has been a year and still no stains. Highly recommended if you want the look of your furniture to last.

Watts Carbon Block Filter Cartridge

Watts Carbon Block Filter Cartridge - 4.5'' x 9 3/4'' - 5 Micron - Case of 12 UnitsI have been using several other types of whole house carbon block sediment and odor removal water filters over the last 3 or 4 years now. Our water is supplied by a deep well (540 feet) and the water has been tested as quite good except for an odor which might be hydrogen sulfide but that has not been verified in testing. Anyway, until I installed the first Watts Carbon Block Filter I have had to change other brand carbon water filters every 2 or 3 weeks. The Watts filter, even though we have had unusually high water usage during December, is still going strong relative to odor removal after 3 weeks. I am projecting that I will not have to change the water filter more than once a month the way the Watts filter is performing so far.

I read one review on the web that stated that the Watts filter lasted longer in that families experience and that is why I looked into trying the Watts product. I have heard that a carbon filter using coconut shell based carbon is more effective at odor removal and that type of carbon is evidently what Watts uses in their product.

This is by far the best stuff to use on glass pipes. You just submerge

for an hour or so, rinse in hot water and the grunge is off.

Simply put, it just didn''t work. I let it soak for hours, and it didn''t help whatsoever with removing the resin from my piece.

My pipe was supposed to be clear but was pure black. It looked and smelt nasty. My pipe is shaped like an animal so its hard to clean. I poured the grunge off into a bowl and let my pipe just lay in it for about 8 hours. Now there''s no residue. I didn''t think the residue would''ve come off but it did. The pipe smells like citrus and looks brand new. It came pretty quick too in bout 3 days. When you use it you should rinse out your pipe with hot water a few times then leave it in the grunge off overnight. While you are sleeping or while you''re at work. It''ll look brand new when see it again. The grunge off smells like citrus and is kind of sticky if some goes on your hand/table. Overall good buy 5/5. Will buy it again as soon as it runs out.

Edit: You should also have some sort of funnel so you dont accidently drop some while you are pouring it back into the bottle. Since it is reusable I tried to pour it back into the bottle and dropped a s*** load.

I''ve had this for about 2 years and it is definitely the best investment in my home. If you worry and like to take care of your health, this is a must have. After learning about alkaline water and seeing videos of people getting rid of their heart burn problems and many other health issues, I decided to give this a try. I used to take Omeprazol once a day, I now take it at the most once every 2-3 months when I combine too many acidic things in my stomach (alcohol, spicy food, tomato sauce etc). Thus, even though just the water holds up many times. Not too mention allergies from pollen, I also used to take medicine for it everyday, but not have done so in the last 2 years since I purchased this ionizer. I sleep better, have more energy, the intensity of my gym work out has increased a great amount also. I can keep going about many benefits of this machine, so, overall just a fabulous product.

*** I will soon be buying a second machine as a gift for my parents.

Im glad it arrived quickly. It was easy to assemble and I got it working in 30 minutes. The setting take a little getting used to. Water taste good. I tried testing the alkaline water at different levels and they all came out highly alkaline (deep purple). Im not sure if it is because it is new. I need to figure that out. One thing I somewhat don''t like is that I didn''t realize it was plastic. I had envisioned stainless steel considering how much it cost. I just need to make sure I never drop it because I don''t think it can handle a spill. Also, I was supposed to receive a promotional alkapod. It came with all the instructions, except for the alkapod itself! I''ll be calling about that.

I bought the Jupiter Athena over one year ago and it works excellent, I get a Ph as high as 11 and I use the low Ph "acid water" as a disinfectant, for laundry,as a mouth, eye and face wash. I love the powerful detoxifying benefits of high alkaline water. Purchasing a water ionizer is one of the best investments you can make for your health, home and family.

I Love my machine. I have tried numerous herbal treatments, and health treatments for my allergies. This water completely cured my allergies. WOW. I researched both sides of the "alkaline water" theory. I wanted to believe the non believers, partly because of the price of this machine, but quite frankly I think the people who are against ionized water, haven''t tried it themselves. Placebo effect my ass, have you tried the water? I had more hope in herbal treatments then I did this water machine, and it has completely eliminated my allergies, even though I was hopeful that it wouldn''t have worked, so I could have sent it back to the distributor within 30 days for a full refund, as stated in my purchase agreement;-) Dis creditors that often present themselves as "scientists", are making bias claims themselves while disregarding what I feel is the most important evidence. I believe that alkaline water is not what we are aiming for:-) What I believe this machine is most beneficial, is the ability to take positive 300-500 ORP water into -700 ORP water. Highly anti oxidative. Negatively charged ions counteract the positive charges that we pick up from our poor food choices, and environment (Yes poor food choices can be acidic too, but I feel it has more to do with available bicarbonates). This machines benefit to me, is it''s ability to increase negative hydrogen present in the water. Negative hydrogen has unbelievable healing properties as experienced by many. I have an ORP meter and have tested this water and one other machine that is claimed to be the "best". This machine does hold up to it''s claim for being the best ionized water. All in all, I decided to buy it to see for myself if a -ORP would help my allergies, and it completely got rid of my horrible allergies. So I say it was one of the best purchases I have made in a long time....

I can''t afford the Athena but I do buy the filtered Athena water at my yoga center by the gallon and have been drinking it consistently for 2 months now. I LOVE it!!! My reason for starting on this water was that it''s the only system I''ve found that removes fluoride from the water that is not reverse osmosis (which also removes everything else -the good minerals and strips our bodies of what it needs). The benefits that I''m seeing so far from drinking this water are: 1. it actually tastes really good -I used to put lemon in my water because I didn''t like the way it tasted and now I don''t. 2. I feel much more hydrated!!! 3. My brain fog is finally clearing. If I could afford this filter I''d definitely buy one hahahaha. I wish it were cheaper but it''s not so for now I''ll have to be happy getting it from my yoga center.

Hoover MaxExtract 60 PressurePro Carpet Deep Cleaner Save 13% Off

Hoover MaxExtract 60 PressurePro Carpet Deep Cleaner, FH50220After adopting two basset hounds, I decided to invest in a carpet cleaner of some sort. I spent a couple of days reviewing products in the range. I spent a good bit of time at Target, Walmart, Lowes and Home Depot literally taking various floor models apart and putting them back together to inspect their quality and ease of use.

I learned that more people were satisfied with Hoover products than Bissell. I could see how the little spinning brushes on Hoover products should clean more thoroughly than Bissell''s one long beater brush. Reviews seem to bear this out, but it''s close! I narrowed my choices down to the Hoover All Terrain Steam Vac Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner, All-Terrain, F7452900 or the Bissell ProHeat 2X Home Bissell ProHeat 2X Healthy Home Upright Deep Cleaner, 66Q4. The Bissell appeared a better built product, but I didn''t really like the bar brush or the odd bladder style tank-in-a-tank.

That''s when I just happened to stop by a Target store and found this machine, Hoover MaxExtract 60 PressurePro Carpet Deep Cleaner, FH50220. It has the little brushes I like and the quality is FAR SUPERIOR to the Hoovers in the "Steam Vac" series. (I just can''t believe how flimsy they are.) The Hoover Max Extract is a much more solid machine than any of the Bissells I looked at.

I used it for the first time today and cleaned the entire house. Very nice! I would have to say that the Hoover Max Extract 60 does every bit of a good job as any professional cleaning I''ve had. Matter of fact, it did a better job than the last professional as he seemed in a hurry. The carpets took about 2 hours to dry. The real surprise comes when you vacuum the carpet after it has dried. Wow, my eight year old, dog worn carpet looks new again!

For the record, I used about 64 oz.of Hoover Pet detergent Hoover 40321130 Premium Pet Formula Carpet/Upholstery Detergent, 128-Ounce over about 1500 sq. ft. of carpet. The trick, it seems, is to go slow and make sure all of the dirty water is sucked up. It did a great job of the water extraction. The worst areas (where the dogs lie) I simply used a little extra spray and let the little brushes do the work.

Cleaning the machine is fairly easy and straight forward. It took me about 30 minutes to clean the machine and get it ready for next time. The only problem I had with it (reason for 4 stars, not 5) was that the brushes did not spin the very first time I used them. I simply reached down and loosened them up by popping them out as if to clean them. They worked flawlessly after that!

I am very pleased with the quality and sturdiness of the Max Extract 60 and thrilled with the way it cleaned my carpets. I would highly recommend it to a friend.

I purchased this carpet cleaner at Target after reading many on-line reviews of many different carpet cleaners. I gathered from all the reviews that carpet cleaners in general seemed to break after a few years if not a few months. I got the impression, however, that Hoover carpet cleaners seemed to be less problematic in general than Bissell carpet cleaners.

I therefore strongly advised that my wife purchase a Hoover carpet cleaner rather than a Bissell carpet cleaner, even though she much preferred the style/design of the Bissells (Hoover could take some pointers from Bissell in the styling area).

I advised the purchase of another Hoover carpet cleaner, but it was not in the store and I liked the description of the features on this one, even though there were zero reviews on this particular model at the time we purchased it. We went ahead and purchased this MaxExtract 60 carpet cleaner.

We have since used the carpet cleaner about 8 times in the 3 months since we purchased it. We have not had our carpets cleaned professionally or otherwise since we purchased our home new 8 years ago. We have 3 kids though no pets. The entire path from our entryway to our kitchen was fairly dark from heavy traffic, even though we make a habit of taking our shoes off. After just a few passes with the carpet cleaner, you could see a significant difference. After a few more passes, the heavy traffic area looked like new from a color perspective though there was some carpet fiber wear and matting that no cleaner will remove. We proceeded to clean the rest of the carpets with less drastic results but overall the carpet looked brand-new again.

We have used the carpet cleaner since the original cleaning multiple times to clean-up from kid messes, including multiple #1 and #2 messes from a potty training child (he''s just like an untrained dog, though this one knows how to take his diaper off). On some of the #2 messes we had to use the hand-held attachment (this model does not have a spinning brush on the hand-held attachment; I think the 77 brush model might have the spinning brush feature) and this worked very well.

We have even cleaned up sun-lotion from our trouble-maker son, which we have historically seen long-term staining from; no stains with this carpet cleaner. I''m not seeing a big need for the spinning brush attachment and the 60 brushes that are available seem to work fine; not sure how much better 77 brushes would work but it may not be worth the extra $$

I concur with other reviewers that the carpets are dry in about 2 hours. The carpets are only damp after the cleaning; they are not soaked at all.

The size of the clean and waste water containers seems like a good compromise between cleaning time and effort to push the cleaner. You can run through a round of water pretty quickly (3 rounds for a deep cleaning of a 10X10 room), though the separate soap dispenser seems to last 2-3 water rounds. The size seems pretty good relative to Bissell cleaners and other older Hoover cleaners

Cleaning the cleaner is fairly straight-forward; just pop everything off and rinse it off. In some spots you may need to use a pointed utensil to remove clumps of hair and carpet fibers. You also may need to run your finger along the two metal screen filters to remove any collected carpet fibers and hair. I did not go to the level of removing each individual brush and cleaning it; just ran it under some water and spun the brushes using the male motor attachment; this seemed to work adequately and pooled any hair and carpet fibers in one spot so I could remove it.

I have not seen any issues with dripping or pooling water as I''ve read with some Bissell cleaners. There is a little dripping when removing the clean and waste water receptacles and I clean the cleaner on linoleum instead of carpet but have not seen any significant issues.

The length of the manual attachment hose is sufficient to allow me to clean stairs all the way up to the first stair landing before I need to carry the entire cleaner up the stairs. This is a lot better than a vacuum we have where the vacuum needs to be carried up each individual stair.

I''m a little worried about how thin the gasket is between the lower and upper parts of the waste water receptacle. Given that the water level does not reach this gasket line before the motor makes the high pitched sound indicating that the water needs to be emptied, however, it hopefully won''t be an issue.

The handle on the waste receptacle is touted as a means for carrying the carpet cleaner. I only use this handle to carry the waste receptacle itself; it appears to be a piece added on top of the waste receptacle and I''d be worried it would crack if carrying the entire weight of the carpet cleaner. I use the main handle and put one hand under the bottom of the carpet cleaner to carry it upstairs.

Overall we''ve been very pleased with this carpet cleaner. I''ve had good luck with a Hoover vacuum lasting over 7 years thus-far so I''m hopeful the motor on this cleaner will last as long. The attachments on this carpet cleaner seem more sturdy than the ones on our vacuum, though I could see us replacing the hand-held attachment once the brushes wear down.

Update: It''s been 2 years since we purchased this carpet cleaner and I continue to see great cleaning results. Nothing has broken so far. We had a number of black spots more recently on our high-traffic section and it took all these out like a champ. My son go ahold of the cap that keeps the clean water in and ended up losing it, so I partially inflate a zip-lock bag and stick it where the cap used to go; that seems to keep the water in fairly well. One of the best purchases we''ve made; carpets look pretty new other than wear/matted down fibers in spots. We might end up trying to sell our house in 5 years and we might be able to get away without buying new carpets.

Buy Hoover MaxExtract 60 PressurePro Carpet Deep Cleaner Now

Two days ago, I acquired this Hoover MaxExtract 60 carpet cleaner. I purchased it with some degree of skepticism, since my experience with shampooers has been...shall we say...less than ideal. Too many experiences with shoddy construction, poor suction, messy dirty-water tanksand brief lifespan. The last time I''d used a home model was about ten years ago, and when it died, I swore off buying dodgy plastic consumer rubbish ever again!

A couple of weeks ago, I realized that the last time I''d cleaned my carpet was the 4th of July 2009, the weekend I proudly moved in to my new (to me!) home! I marched into the grocery store, rented one of the big red carpet cleaners, and spent a busy day industriously shampooing all of my new carpets. I returned the machine the next day, satisfied at my shampoo job, and started moving in.

Since that day, I''ve made any excuse to avoid going and renting the blasted thing again. Too many time constraints! I don''t have a free day to do it all! It''s just throwing money down the hole! It''s all very easy to talk yourself out of getting up off of the sofa and doing something that requires effort, until something forces your hand. In my case, the tipping point was dog puke!

My housemate and I have a dog with a very sensitive stomach. Last week, she got into something that didn''t at all agree with her, and sold her Buick all over my living room carpet. As my luck goes, she didn''t hold still, but sauntered around, and left a lovely trail of evil-smelling puddles of sick and grass to deal with. Once it was discovered, my housemate attempted to clean it up by hand, but her efforts were rewarded with a stronger smell, and a wet carpet. I decided then and there that it was time to rent a big red machine, or leave my prejudices behind, and look at the consumer units again.

I started researching, looking at amazon reviews and youtube videos for everything from little spot cleaners all the way up to the enormous commercial machines. I found that this MaxExtract 60 was about the "sweet spot" -the point a level or two above the awful to operate "cheap and cheerful" machines, and a level below where the law of diminishing returns kicks in. Pre-purchase, I was attracted by the twin tank design, the automatic mixing of detergent and water, the rinse option, the automatic switch to hand tool mode, and the pour spout on the dirty water tank. I was skeptical about the dual V nozzle, the pressurized shampoo sprays, and the hot air blast, but I figured I''d give it a chance.

I discovered a couple of nearby retailers had this model on display, so I went and had a look at it. I was impressed by how far you can disassemble this machine for cleaning without tools. Both tanks are (obviously) removable, as is the front vacuum nozzle, brush bar, and even the spray bar, all without any tools. In addition to the pour spout, the dirty water tank is equipped with a latch that allows the entire top to pop off for easy cleaning. I was quite thoroughly impressed by this attention to detail, given my last experience with an impossible-to-clean unit I had, that just wound up smelling absolutely awful after a couple of uses.

I decided that in light of these new features, i''d give the machine a try. I purchased it from another retailer, on the spot (Hey, Instant Gratification!) and took it home with me.

Assembly was dead easy, remove a screw from the top of the machine (it has a card attached to it tell you what to do,) press the handle into place, and then replace the screw. From there, all you have to do is wrap the hose, and the cord, and your machine is ready to go! I was rather shocked at this ease of assembly, that I read through the entire manual twice to make sure that I hadn''t missed any steps. Satisfied that I hadn''t, I filled the detergent tank to the "concentrate" line with the included Hoover detergent, and then topped the detergent tank with water, and completely filled the regular water tank. I quickly moved the furniture out of the way, vacuumed the floor, and let fly with this brand new Hoover Suck-o-Luxe!

The Hoover MaxExtract 60 disgusted me.

Completely and utterly. I can''t even begin to fathom how horrified I was.

Made me wish I''d never bought it.

So, now, you''re probably thinking, "WHY DID THE DOOFUS RATE IT FIVE STARS THEN?" -well, I''ll clarify. I wasn''t dissatisfied with the cleaner itself. Not at all! The Hoover MaxExtract 60 exceeded my expectations, performing admirably. What horrified me was the chocolate milkshake I poured out of my first tank of dirty water!

I like to think I''m a clean person. I vacuum weekly with a fairly high quality vacuum, I dust regularly, and generally keep things shipshape and bristol fashion. After that first tank of dirt, I disassembled the machine, taking out all of the user serviceable parts to make sure there was no black magic going on! I satisfied myself with the cleaning path, refilled my water tank, and tried again. Same result! Clean water sprayed down, disgusting, thick, chocolate milkshake comes up. I swapped over to rinse cycle, and ran over the carpet again, and the water was even dirtier! Shock! Horror! all that dust and dirt really sinks into what I thought was clean carpet.

Tank after tank of dirty water later, and my dining and loungeroom were done! After all that, my impression still remains positive of this unit, my fear of consumer carpet cleaners, has, for the moment, been vanquished!

Observations so far:

-The pressurized water spray really gets the solution down into the carpet. The previous machine I had just sort of dribbled the solution weakly, and it sat on the surface, not penetrating at all.

-The rotating "spinscrub" brushes really fluff the carpet up, making even my high traffic ares soft and fluffy again. They also seem to do a fantastic job of just scrubbing the dirt out of the carpet as well.

-I still can''t comment as to whether the "dual V" nozzle is any more or less efficient than a single nozzle, but I have to say that this machine could suck the chrome off a doorknob. Walking behind the machine, the carpet is barely damp, and the room was dry in a couple hours, after several slow passes of the machine. (I used the manual-recommended push forward, then pull back while spraying, and then push forward and pull back dry before moving on to the next strip.)

-The easy pour spout is amazing. My previous cleaner had a lid that you removed to pour out the sludge, which always dribbled down the side, getting you covered with filth or dripping it all over wherever you emptied. Not so here, the spout works a treat!

-The dirty water container still has nooks and crannies, but is the easiest to clean I''ve ever seen. Pop the entire top of it off and swish it out. Sand still gets trapped in the recesses of the thing, but I found that by holding it vertically and blasting it out with my sink''s hose-nozzle-thing, I could get it mostly cleaned. The hard plastic construction of it is better than the soft plastic of other machines I''ve used, as it rinses clean much better.

-Cleaning the machine is dead simple. Take off the dirty water tank, pop off the vacuum nozzle, and pop out the brushes and take the lot to the sink. Run water through the nozzle and suction path backwards to rinse any hair and crud out, and you''re done! The brushes come completely apart, allowing you to clean them individually.

-The hot-air blast, in conjunction with the excellent suction leaves the carpet drier than any other machine I''ve used. It''s not 100% bone dry, and I wouldn''t expect it to be, but it''s certainly not sopping wet. I''m not sure how the "hot air blast" works, but I think it just runs the hot air from the motor exhaust back right behind the brush bar, and down into the carpet. I think whether its hot or not, it fluffs up the fibers, making it easier for the vacuum part to suck the crud out of your carpets.

-The machine is very, very thirsty. I find myself going through a full tank of water in less than 100sqft. I don''t think this is a bad thing, since emptying it gives me an excuse to slack off for a few minutes, and I think the more water used, the more dirt it can pick up, but some folks seem to find this a concern. Using more water freaks a lot of folks out about carpet cleaners, since it means longer dry times, but as I''ve said, this thing sucks out more of what it puts down than pretty much any other machine I''ve used, including the big red one, so its little worry.

-Hair gets itself lodged up in the individual tufts of the brushes, making it impossible to get out, but I don''t think thats a huge problem. The brushes seem to continue to function just fine.

I came into this machine with a healthy dose of skepticism, having been burned too many times in the past. I did my share of research before buying these, considering Bissel, Hoover, and a Rug Doctor machine. The Rug Doctor was more than I wanted to spend, the Bissel machines have the scary "bladder in a tank" design that looks unreliable, and frightening to try and clean. Sure, they have built in heaters, but from what I understand, those are kinda gimmicky anyway. I just use the hottest water I can in the Hoover, and since it goes through water at a scary rate, it doesn''t have time to cool before I''m done. I walk behind it, and it feels warm from first drop to last.

I would recommend the MaxExtract 60 as the "sweet spot" -best balance of price/features on the market today. It''s the entry to the MaxExtract lines, and has all of the important features of the more expensive models, without the annoying "bells and whistles" -higher end models clean bare floors, and have "auto rinse" and a few other doodads, as well as a large price jump. I don''t see the need to have a carpet cleaner do anything other than clean carpet. I have a mop for my bare floors, and I like having manual control of my rinse cycle. Overall, I''d recommend this to anyone who asked me which shampooer they should buy.

The spin scrub brushes would not turn/spin the first time we tried to use the Max Extract 60. We tried adjusting the water containers thinking something might have been loose, unplugging/repluggin, no avail. FInally we actually saw another review here on amazon that said they completely removed the bruch assembly. We did this and after various tighting and loosening of things, the brushes now spin. Seems ridiculous that this is a problem for multiple people. IT should work out of the box. But once that problem was finally solved, the carpet cleaner worked very well. We had to refill the clean water and empty the dirty water a lot. Not that big of a deal, but don''t expect to be able to do a full room on one tank (or even two) no way. The cleaner does a good job of soaking up excess water on the dry passes, but it stil took several days for the carpet to completely dry. THe best thing though, is it did do a very good job on some pretty dirty carpet. WE''ve wanted to clean them since we moved in and they look ten times better.

My carpet is in a high usage place like the hallway and entrance way to bedrooms and bathroom. At the present time only myself and husband and 3 dogs occupy this house...but at times there are 6 adults living here. We have had the carpet cleaned several times over the past 30 years and was not happy with any of the services. So this year, we decided to clean the carpet ourselves, we had nothing to lose...if it didn''t clean well then we could buy new carpet... We purchased this Hoover product with thoughts of "We may have bitten off more than we wanted". The Hoover was not hard to fill or refill. It sucked up nearly all the water and with fans on, it was dry enough to walk on in a couple of hours. The carpet cleaned up and looked almost as good as when it was new in the bedrooms. The high traffic areas cleaned up much better than I ever thought it would. We are keeping the old carper and putting ourselves on a carpet cleaning schedule every 6 months. I love this hoover FH50220 product and would highly recommend it to others. Mary

Watts 520008 Counter-Top Drinking Water Filter Save 18% Off

Watts 520008 Counter-Top Drinking Water Filter with Audible Alarm
  • Reduces chlorine taste and odor, sand, silt, sediment and rust
  • Equipped with end of life monitor to ensure continuous high quality water
  • Portable
  • Fits on to small areas on the counter top
  • Meets all plumbing codes

Heard good things about the regular Watts water filter, so I decided to move up and get the one with the alarm. Unfortunately, the first unit I received had a small hole at the base of the spout, and a small stream of water sprayed out all over. I returned it and got a new one from Amazon 2 days later that so far, works fine. Could taste the difference in the water once installed (which was so easy I could figure it out without the instructions), and quite satisfied so far. Won''t be able to report on how that alarm works for a while, but it starts at 4000, and turns off when using regular tap water and on again when using the filtered water.

Included were the diverting valve, filter wrench and batteries, but only came with one faucet adapter that worked with an outside thread and not for an inside thread. I called the company since Amazon doesn''t provide parts and was told an adapter with an inside thread is not included for this model. Therefore I went to Lowe''s and picked up an faucet adapter that worked for $2, so no big deal. However, I do feel I really shouldn''t have to pay for a part that should be included in every water filter you connect directly to the faucet (might have rated it a 5 if not for that).

This product is sold by Amazon itself. When I tried to contact the seller (Amazon) through my account there was no option to do so. Only option available was to return the whole product. I am really surprised at the lack of responsibility and professionalism.

In my case the product''s sink connector which allows the flow of water to go to the filter or to divert to the faucet never worked automatically (returning to its default = non filtered water, once the water was shut) rather we have to do it manually. The package also came lacking the manual for the digital counter/alarm (if there is one at all), the included manual only explained how to set the filter and connect the hose to the faucet no mention on how to use the buttons or warranty.

Other than that it works fine, but I would still want Amazon to replace the faulty part. If someone has an idea how to contact them please let me know.

Thanks.

Culligan RDSH-C115 RainDisc Showerhead with Filter Save 38% Off

Culligan RDSH-C115 RainDisc Showerhead with Filter, Chrome Finish
  • Reduces 97 percent chlorine, sulfur odor and scale from water
  • Easy -to-install, no tools required
  • Each WHR-140 filter cartridge filters for a full 10,000 gallons or 6 months
  • System tested and Certified by NSF International against ANSI Standard 177
  • Optional REA-150 RainDisc shower hi-lo arm available

We ordered the Culligan RDSH-C115 RainDisc Shower Head with Filter, and two additional WHR-140 filter cartridges and have been using it for about a week. The instructions say to remove the black rubber water saver if the flow is too low, which was the case with us. The filters are good for 10,000 gallons which I calculated as two showers a day for about 6 months. Since we removed the water saver, which seems to double the flow, I figure a filter should last about 3 months.

Installation was fairly simple. I removed the old shower head and left the old thin plumber''s tape on the threads of the water pipe. I removed the six screws from the face of the shower head to open it. I removed the stickers from both sides of the filter cartridge and pressed it in to the shower head about 1/4 inch. I replaced the 6 screws and screwed the shower head on to the water pipe. When I ran the shower I felt the flow was not strong enough so I unscrewed the shower head from the pipe and (as per the instructions) pulled out the small black rubber water saver plug from the pipe end of the shower head (using a scissor). I screwed the shower head back onto the water pipe and tightened it with pliers.

The flow without the water saver is large and feels like a water stream from a large pipe.

There''s no needle like spray, just a soft large volume of water falling on you.

The chlorine remover really works. After just a couple of uses, skin and hair are noticeable softer and soap or shampoo seem to rinse more thoroughly and quickly. In summer the chlorine smell in our NJ hard water is quite pungent, and this removed it completely.

Happy with the product. I have an automatic water pressure pump (switches on automatically when you open a tap or use any water outlet in the house). The pump combined with this rain shower head, makes for a great soaking shower without having the water pierce the skin.

Water stream flows evenly and comfortably, however like others have stated, to actually get an enjoyable shower, you would need to remove the black water saving rubber piece in the top of the shower head.

I can also confirm that the correct filter for this item is indeed Culligan WHR-140, which although in the picture listings on Amazon looks huge, it actually fits just right.

My only minor issue with it, and it is the reason for giving it 4-stars, is that it is made of chrome plated plastic and not Chrome as is stated in the product description on Amazon. This does not affect the showering experience, but if Im buying chrome, I expect to get Chrome, not 90% plastic and 5% Chrome.

I certainly reccomend this product.

This product claims to remove 97% of chlorine so I decided to try it. The tests were done with Extech CL200 Chlorine Meter. After installing filter, i let shower run for 7 minutes before taking test. The water coming out of the faucet without filter installed showed .38mg/liter of chlorine @ 87F. With filter installed i had .27mg/liter of chlorine @ 84F, which comes to 29% reduction in chlorine. My drinking water filter showed .01mg/liter of chlorine. This shower filter might do better with cold water (that''s probably how it''s been tested by manufacturer) but you probably don''t want to take cold shower anyway. I''ll try to test other shower filters but from what i read its hard to remove chlorine from hot water and some shower filters actually change free chlorine to a less active form(I don''t know if its the case with this filter). If you want chlorine free shower, your only option is to install whole house filter.

I love this product! We have no chlorine problem with my well water; however, we do have lots of minerals which leave my hair feeling awful. No matter which expensive products (clarifying shampoos, leave-in conditioners, believe me EVERYTHING), I used on my hair, it still looked course and frizzy, I live in Connecticul and noticed that whenever I stayed over in Manhattan, my hair looked great....it dawned on me that the water really did make a difference in the texture of my hair. I was all set to install an expensive home filtering system when I decided to try the Culligan Raindisc and I am telling you that this is the best thing that has happened to my hair in years!

So, the Raindisc is not chrome and yes, the flow is not as strong as I am used to. I really don''t care.....it does exactly what I bought it for removing all the nonsense which prevents my hair from being easy-to-manage. This is a miracle for me.......thank you so much.

It''s gentle like rain, not high-pressure. It did not work at all when I first installed in until I took out the black flow regulator like another reviewer mentioned. I don''t see how it would even work with one, but, it works great without it. It''s not high-pressure, so you pretty much have to stand directly beneath it. But it''s soft in pressure and makes the water soft, which feels awesome, like bathing in soft rain. I can''t believe how much nicer the water feels. Very good product.

GE FXMLH Faucet Filter Replacement Cartridge Save 18% Off

GE FXMLH Faucet Filter Replacement CartridgeI purchased the original GE Housing Unit (attaches to faucet) at a big box store. It came complete w/first filter. I now order my replacement filters at Amazon.com. It''s more convenient than going to the store(s), and the prices are store comparable. The (positive) difference in the water taste is absolutlely remarkable. They can brag, and rightfully so, about all the unwanted contaminants the GE filter reduces. So be it. ALL I KNOW IS, I WANTED GOOD TASTING WATER!!! Now I Have It. My faucet filter operates exactly as it was designed to do. Easy operation. Simply turn "chrome" dome to desired water mode. The faucet will automatically return to TAP WATER mode when faucet is turned off. Great Feature. You won''t have to watch your precious filtered water go down the drain when Uncle Earl finally decides to wash his hands. It comes w/a replaceable cell battery which operates the "THE THREE LITTLE LIGHTS". I find only one of these lights useful. THE AMBER LIGHT lets you know when the filter OR the battery needs replaceing. No hard guessing. The battery will outlast the filter. The filter slows to a trickle when replacement is needed. You might want to jot down on a calendar the dates of filter replacements. This will give you a ballpark figure on YOUR filters longevity. I am the sole user of mine. It lasts me about three and a half to four months. Oh, about those 2 "other" lights. They let me "know" when I''m on Spray mode or Filtered Water. I can SEE when the water is spraying! I know when I turn on the Water Filter. (A slower pour occurs). BUT HEY, those 3 little lights make for good conversation when guests arrive!! Hope this helps. rbrowncloud

I am sure the filter was probably OK, but the faucet we have does not work that well. We may have to get a new faucet -or perhaps a different filter that will fit well.

Protec WF2 Extended Life Replacement Humidifier Filter Save 18% Off

Protec WF2 Extended Life Replacement Humidifier Filter(Pack of 3)I seem to remember the original instructions were to clean the filter regularly. I don''t have a problem with mold or slime buildup, but see they have a product for that.

I have very hard water and so quickly get a buildup of minerals left over as the water evaporates. To remove that, I simply pour some vinegar onto the filter from the top, while it''s still in the machine. As the crust starts to soften (the vinegar dissolves the crust) I pour the liquid in the bottom of the machine into the sink, lay the filter down (it will now flatten without breaking) pour some more vinegar on it (probably 2 cups, total) and let it soak until it stops bubbling. Rinse good with water and it''s ready to go again. I''ve used the same filter for several years. It is now finally disintegrating so I''m buying a new one.

This machine is for the bedroom. I also have a much larger one, different make, same type filter, large-room size, and use the same procedure for it.

I purchase these every year for my Vicks humidifier. I have spent way beyond what the machine itself cost me on filters. Each filter lasts about a month to 6 weeks before getting moldy and stops wicking the water. I only use the humidifier for about 4 months in the Winter, which a 3 pack of filters is good for. I would use it all year if I did not have to keep replacing the filters. If someone knows a better choice of longer lasting filters, please post.

12/9/08-Too bad this is the only place I have easily found these. I cannot believe they have gone up $10 in cost since I purchased them a year ago (11/30/07)!

They fit and work as expected. Just like any other humidifier filter, they need replacing after dirt and minerals build up. These filters work just like to filter that came with the original unit.

I''d like to know how long a non-extended-life pad will last. These are made with one perforated cylinder of foil (with opposing sides very poorly connected if they are connected at all), surrounded on each side by a cylinder of perforated *paper*. I think it''s just the paper that''s holding the cylinder together. It will last a month if you are lucky. Don''t plan on soaking it in vinegar, as it will just fall apart. I think they call this "planned obsolescence". This is obviously where they make their money, similar to ink-jet printers and their costly ink cartridges.

Cuisinart DGB-700BC Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker Save 53% Off

Cuisinart DGB-700BC Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Brushed Chrome/BlackI purchased this coffee maker around Christmas and was a little concerned over the prior reviews that stated it uses too much coffee. The chemist in me had to do the experiment.

A standard issue coffee from Starbucks was ground to a standard medium grind for coffee makers of this type. The coffee was measured on a 1 gram precision scale according to the specification on the Starbucks coffee bag (2Tbs per 6oz cup) to make 6 cups of coffee. The coffee grinds weighed to be 54 grams. The same coffee beans from the same bag were ground in the coffee maker set to 6 cups and strong. The coffee grinds were then measured on the same scale and wouldn''t you know...it was exactly 54 grams.

For my coffee beans this machine on the 6 cup setting produced the following:

Strong = 9 grams (2Tbs) of coffee per cup of water

Medium = 8 grams (about 1 3/4Tbs) of coffee per cup of water

Mild = 7 grams (about 1 1/2Tbs) of coffee per cup of water

I can''t imagine that one couldn''t find a setting to their liking when you consider you have increments of 2 cups with 3 settings (strong, medium and mild) each.

After considerable research for the absolute best coffee maker in the world, I decided to purchase the Cuisinart Grind and Brew DGB-700BC. It has a burr grinder. This one has the 12-cup glass carafe and it has a warming plate. Reviews on the stainless steel carafe have stated there is no warming plate. It seems the glass one does and the thermal one does not. It works perfectly and is very easy to program and use. It comes with a DVD which simplifies the process even more.

It can also brew ground coffee. Just turn off the grinder before pressing the on/off button and it''s ready to go.

As for noise, I don''t consider it too noisy. After all, it IS a coffee grinder and I expect to hear it when it grinds the coffee.

The hopper holds a half-pound of beans which is enough to make coffee several times (if you''re using the mild setting).

The retail price is $199, but many places have it routinely for $169. I purchased mine at Kohls for $159 and they had a "scratch off" sale going on and I got an additional 15% off at the checkout.

I highly recommend this coffeemaker.

I have owned a couple of grind and brews in the past with mixed results. Our first was a Mr Coffee back in the 1990''s. It made great coffee, but was messy, and broke frequently. We also had the first Jura Capresso model about 6 years ago. I liked it, but my wife felt that no matter what the settings were, the coffee was bitter. Recenly we had been using a Krups stand alone machine, that makes good coffee, and a stand alone Krups burr grinder. Since our Krups burr grinder was getting finicky, and the coffee post was getting old, we decided to give the DGB700 Grind and Brew a try.

My initial take, is that it makes an excellent cup of coffee, better than my last Krups machine. I am still experimenting with the settings, but so far I am very pleased.

You do need to follow the directions. The key points I have found, is to make sure that the basket parts are dry. This means a quick rinse and dry between pots if you are making more than one.

I also have cleaned out the chute where the ground coffee goes into the basket. It''s very easy, and although mine was not clogged after about 6 pots, I did see where the grounds were building up in there a bit. My stand alone burr grinder had the same issue, but the new Cuisinart pot is actually very easy to clean in this area. Just remove the bean hopper, open the chute, push the lever over, and push they grounds into the basket area. (put a filter in first). Actually now, I just clean the chute each time. It takes less than a minute, and I think that this is the one main issues that some people are having.

Also, I have lined up the arrows on the top of the basket. Easy to do, and it avoids some of the negative comments on other reviews. Finally, if you use paper filters, make sure that the top of the plastic basket is going INSIDE the top of the filter.

My wife likes her coffee mild and smooth, but flavorful. My settings to make 12 cups, are 6 Cups on the grind selector knob with Mild or MED on the brew strength selector. The brew has good smooth flavor, and is not bitter. I also drink a lot of iced coffee. I will simply up the strength when I make coffee for that.

Again, so far, so good. I think that following the guide and keeping the machine clean and dry should produce good results.

One last thought... other Grind and Brew brands (Jura Capresso) make a major point about NOT storing beans in the freezer. Actually, I have done this for years, but after doing a bit of Google research, I find that it''s better to just keep the beans in an airtight container, and only open what you will use in a couple of weeks. We are doing that now. I do notice that this sees to make the beans less oily, so that may also be a key to why some people get clogs.

I will post a follow-up after I have had the machine for a few months.

OK.. update as of 3/12 the unit is still working well. I do clean the chute after most every pot, but this is easy, and only takes a minute. Again... I strongly suggest NOT storing your beans in the freezer. The research shows that freezing the beans can force oil to the surface of the bean, which can contribute to clogs. I will say that this pot makes excellent tasting coffee.

We have had to return two of these units because the grinder stops working. The problem is that the chute beneath the grinder is horizontal so the coffee grinds have to be pushed into the filter rather than falling in. Even after cleaning, the coffee grounds get packed into the grinding mechanism causing it to break.

I do understand why people say this is a great coffee maker though. When it works, it is very convenient and grinding the beans right before the brewing makes great coffee. I want to like this product but the poor design of the grinding chute makes it unusable.

Cuisinart is a decidedly unhelpful company. If you have a defective product, you can expect long hold times and rude customer service agents. The warranty on this item is that if you pay shipping & handling both ways, they will send you a replacement. After three defective units, they will issue a credit for other cuisinart products.

Update: California law requires them to replace the product without charging for shipping & handling. So, after telling me that they wouldn''t waive those charges, they had to waive them anyway due to California law.

Want Cuisinart DGB-700BC Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker Discount?

About once every two weeks I have a "bad coffee day" in which my machine just gets persnickity. I am usually guaranteed that I will have to make at least two pots before it gets it right. OK, so I''ve had this machine at my vacation home for about a year now and here''s what I''ve learned:

1. The paper filters are much more convenient than the metal basket. I just throw the paper filter (preferably the unbleached kindbetter for the environment) into my garden and then all I have to do is rinse the basket and wipe with a sponge. Saves time and my septic system from the coffee grounds.

2. Don''t forget to use a filter of some sort in the basket or your counters, cabinets, floors, walls, etc. will get coffee makeover. I am talking from experience.

3. Make sure you clean most of the removable parts before each use. You only need to clean the coffee bean holder every so often (I do it when the beans start to run out). You don''t need to do a soap and water cleaning on the other parts but you should wipe them down with a rag or sponge under running water. It only takes a few seconds. Once a week or so toss everything into the dishwasher.

4. Make sure you have enough beans in the holder to brew the amount of coffee you want. As I said above, when it gets low is when you want to do your thorough cleaning.

5. Make sure that you put the carafe in fully and correctly. If there is one BIG criticism I have about this machine is that it''s very easy to misplace the pot and give your kitchen a nice coffee tattoo. This most often happens when I am in a hurry and really don''t have time to be cleaning up a big mess.

6. Clean the chute. You have to clean the chute regularly. Here are a few tips I''ve learned to make it easier. First, put a filter in the basket when you do this (I like to do it after I''ve done the "dishwasher cleaning" of my parts, but before I brew the next pot) but don''t put the lid on the basket. That way the grounds will fall directly into the lined basket and if you do this often, there''s no reason why you can''t just leave them in there while you brew the next pot (your coffee will be a little stronger). Cleaning the chute only take a few seconds.

This is the 3rd incarnation of a Cuisinart grind ''n brew coffee maker I''ve had. The first was the one with the glass carafe where you had to put the beans in each time you brewed. There were 5 different parts that needed to be soap and water cleaned after each use, and quite frankly, I didn''t notice a great improvement in quality of coffee for all the extra work. The second was just like the first except it had the thermal carafe. There was a vast improvement in quality, but again, so many parts to clean made me reluctant to use it. Also, unless you know exactly how to measure unground beans, you pretty much are stuck making a full pot of coffee. This last one has been a great improvement over the other two. I can make just a cup of coffee for myself in the morning or I can make a whole pot and everything in between. Yes there is a bit of labor to it, but considering where they''ve come from this machine is a vast improvement over the others and I can''t stress enough how good the coffee is.

I''ve read the other reviews and the main things I hear people complaining about are that the pot doesn''t pour fast enough and that the coffee isn''t hot enough. I don''t have a problem with how fast the coffee comes out of the carafe. It is a little slower but the difference is from a 3 second pour to about a 12 second pour. However, if that is unbearable I don''t see why you can''t just take the lid off of the carafe while you pour? It will come out just as fast as the glass carafe that way.

As for the temperature of the coffee, I am not sure how to address that as I''ve never found that to be a problem. When I do use the timer feature, I preheat the carafe at night before I set up the coffeemaker and the residual heat still assures that you are starting with a carafe that is not cold in the morning. Generally I don''t use the timer and get my coffee immediately after it''s done brewing. I also don''t preheat my carafe. When I get my second cup in the morning it''s still plenty hot so I''m just not sure what all the fuss is about. Of course I don''t really like my coffee scalding hot either so maybe it''s just a matter of preference.

I would also like to point out that I have recently remodeled my winter home and put in an $1,800 Miele coffeemaker that is built in and plumbed. It can make espresso, cappucino and cofffee with the push of a button. However, that has more parts to fuss with than this Cuisinart and talk about frequent cleaning! It does make the best cup of coffee I''ve ever had, but it''s not all that much better than this unit at a fraction of the cost.

The bottom line is this-if you want a really, really good cup of coffee you either have to go to a coffee shop and pay for it (and often I find their beans much inferior to the ones I use) or put up with the inconvenience of the home machines. As far as I know, no one has come up with the perfect machine yet, but this one does make a most excellent cup of coffee.

So when deciding whether or not you want to buy this machine I would say you would need to ask yourself what''s more importantquality or convenience. If you are a coffee fanatic as I am, it will be quality and this machine does come through. If you love coffee but are time challenged and can''t be bothered with all the extra steps then I would say that this machine isn''t for you.

Went into the filter housing perfectly, and it is doing the job I expected. I change the filter about every 6 months in my Vacation home and find that it keeps most of the dirt and brown stuff from getting to the faucets. i also use a charcoal filter in a second housing in line with this, that helps with the taste and odor. We are satisfied with the results and drink our water straight fromthe faucet.

General Electric Gxrm10rbl

General Electric Gxrm10rblI have a friend that had purchased the same product which they were very happy with and recommended it to us .. I did have a problem with the product delievered to me , but Plumbers Outpost took care of the problem qiuckly to our satisfaction. I plan on in the future to do business with them again .

This is a 3 stage filter with an RO membrane that is spec''d out to work with your standard tap''s pressure; no booster needed. Not needing the booster saves money and eases installation but it does impact the maximum daily throughput. With that said, it''s a light duty, but you get good quality RO water. With the included reservoir it definitely produces enough volume for an average household''s daily drinking needs, but you aren''t going to be able to shower in it ;)

If I need to take water with me I''ll leave a 3gallon container under the opened tap over night and in the morning it''s nearly full. It reduces the many industrial wastes that end up in our water supply on accident and even those that are added on purpose, like fluoride, so it serves it''s purpose well.

I copied the full list of pollutants it reduces from another review that I read which helped me make this purchase:

Reverse Osmosis is a process of filtering a liquid, such as water through a semi-permeable membrane (filter) which will transmit the liquid but will impede most solids. Reverse osmosis filtration

Mr. Coffee ISX43-1 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Save 21% Off

Mr. Coffee ISX43-1 12-Cup Programmable CoffeemakerI''ve been using this Mr. Coffee machine (model ISX43) for a couple of weeks and am very happy with it. The controls are very accessible and easy to use. The coffee is hot enough immediately after brewing and the machine is easy to cleanup. It comes with a water filter which I guess could be useful if your water has particulate matter in it, but for me it''s unnecessary. The machine is fairly tall and the top is hinged at the back and flips up, so you need a quite a lot of room above to open it. Also, the opening in the top to pour in the water is fairly small I have to use the carafe and pour carefully to avoid spilling. The controls include a clock and timer for delayed brewing, a regular and strong brew setting (I can''t really tell the difference) and a cleaning cycle which I haven''t tried yet. The clock is so bright you could use it for a night light. There''s also a temperature control for the hot plate (which turns off automatically after two hours). Last, I''m a fan of chrome and black appliances and find this unit quite stylish.

Edit: I''ve had this machine for almost four years now and I''m surprised at the many negative reviews. It seems there are quality control issues as I''ve not had any problems with the machine. I''ve needed to replace the carafe a couple of times the lip & handle are glued to the top of the glass which deteriorates over time and starts to leak, but that''s all. I have to wonder how often the overflow problems are caused by the carafe not being positioned properly? This model has the feature where you can remove the carafe before the pot has finished brewing to pour a cup replacing the carafe properly allows the basket to resume dripping, but if it isn''t positioned correctly the basket will overflow. The coffee has always been hot enough and I have the hotplate thermostat at the lowest setting. Someone said this pot doesn''t brew 2-4 cups properly and that also hasn''t been my experience. When I brew 2 cups I do use a little more coffee and I switch the brew setting to "strong" the result is fine.

I agree with the two above reviews as far as they go, but I''ve had mine for a year now, and it now makes the weakest coffee on earth. At first, running it through the cleaning cycle solved the problem, but now nothing helps. I use twice the amount of coffee I used to use to get the same result. That''s an expensive cup of coffee!!! I also run it through the cleaning cycle once a week (I only make coffee once a day, so that''s excessive.) Not to mention the hassle of having to clean it so often. It takes an hour to run through the clean cycle, and then you have to make a full pot of hot water twice to clean the vinegar/cleaning solution out of the coffee maker. I just cleaned it yet again, made coffee, and it tastes like muddy water.

I''ve had and used this coffeemaker daily for about 4 years. I also received a stainless steel carafe version of it, but that''s another story... I gave that one away. Anyway, this one has the glass carafe. All in all, it''s been pretty good, but as it ages, there are several issues developing.

Pros:

Makes a pretty good cup of coffee

Is programmable, and fairly convenient to do so

Has an adjustable warming plate setting

Cons:

Not easy to tell if basket is properly seated, resulting in overflow and MESS

Mine has controls with very small black lettering on red background; VERY hard to read

Does not always pour well

Within a couple weeks of getting this coffee pot, we had an overflow incident. All over the counter. Then it would brew only half and stop. So I read the manual and did the clean cycle, even only after this short of period. It would work okay for awhile, and then do the same thing. Or often grounds are in our coffee or tea. Cleaning it doesn''t help any more.

I have been using this coffee maker for two months and like it a lot. I bought it mainly because it is almost unique in having an adjustable warmer plate, so that you can adjust the warmer plate to how many cups are left. Very useful. But easy to forget, as you take cups, and leave it too high. A white mark on the knob would be nice, so that its position is easier to read/notice. Other nice features of this product: 1) Two hour automatic shut off with visual indicator of time left. Sounds corny but actually quite nice. 2) Beep when brewed coffee is ready. 3) Pot pours much better than most. 4) Easy to use. (I''ve never tried using the clock stuff.) 5) Good water level indicators. The only negatives that I''ve found are that it''s fairly tall and might not fit some places, and it looses at least 1/2 cup of water in grounds and left all over the inside of the tank.
