NSA 50C Countertop Water Filter Save 64% Off

NSA 50C Countertop Water FilterI have purchased this type of filter in the past. The water tastes great and don''t require the added expense of buying filters that have to be replaced. They are quite pricey if bought from the manufacturer, but this was a close-out of the original version, at a great price.

It is sad that they are dicontinuing this model, because it was excellent and lasted a lot.

I regret I didn''t buy 2 or 3 more for the future. Really good!

Vicks 1.5 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier Save 33% Off

Vicks 1.5 Gallon Cool Mist HumidifierWe''ve had this humidifier for about 2 years now and use it only occasionally. The reason we use it sparingly is because it is way too loud. It has a very annoying vibrational noise that can be damped by pushing down hard on the lid. Since I can''t stand next to it pushing the lid down all night, we have to put up with the amazingly loud humming. The other problem with this humidifier is that it is hard to clean inside the tube that draws-up the water. It is removable, but you need to have pipe-cleaners to get inside it. The non-removable disc in the lid is also filled with gunk that I can''t get out. Save your money!

I bought this at Kmart for $21. They had extra filters there, and they''re available online. The unit is in my 2-year-old''s room and is very quiet. You do have to snap the lid on tightly, but then it stays in place. It used only about 1/4 of the water in the chamber overnight. The instructions recommend a thorough cleaning with vinegar once a week, which I will definitely do. A switch on the body of the humidifier would be nice (there''s a dial-type power switch on the cord). I''m sure a $100+ unit would be more attractive and have more features, but for my needs this works fine.

This humidifier is loud, but more importantly completely drenches the carpet beneath it. Every night I have to put 2 dry bath towels under it to collect the water that would otherwise be saoked into my carpet. Its SUCH A PAIN, not to mention the constant rotations of new dry towels. I guess you get what you pay for, I am going to get a more expensive one next but sure wish I could have saved this $30 from the beginning.

Reading the other reviews, you''d think you were making the biggest mistake of your life buying this great little machine. It''s not loud at all I don''t know what they''re talking about. And it blows a giant stream of cool mist that has helped our newborn breathe freely in the humidity-free Arizona air. Only thing is, and I don''t know why, it takes about 3 initial runs before full mist capacity is met. Instructions even forewarn this it has to get broken in somehow. Well, once you''ve done that, it''s awesome, honestly. Just keep it clean.

This humidifer works as advertised. I found it somewhat loud, but not in an annoying way, just creates some good white noise in my opinion. I had an older one which broke and it took me a few days to replace. Only then did I realize how much of a difference it was making in the dry heat of the winter. If you''re looking for an inexpensive way to keep you from getting too dried out when you sleep, this will do the trick. Nothing fancy, no real features, it just works.

Lavelle #90-4a Korky Plunger & Holder
  • Lavelle #90-4A Korky Plunger and Holder
  • LAVELLE INDUSTRIES INC

I wanted a discreet cover and plunger for our 3 bathrooms. The holders are fine and as described. Easy to open and close, and the plunger is raised so water drains into the base and air circulates to dry. The diameter of the plunger''s bell is the same as our old-fashioned plunger, but it does not work with our 30 year old toilets no suction at all. I called Lavelle (the phone # on the packaging is wrong, but thankfully the party I reached kindly gave me the correct number). They said they make no claims as to whether the plunger will work with any particular toilet, but the rep offered a solution that worked just fine: go to the dollar store and pick up the old-fashioned style plunger. Its wooden handle isn''t as attractive as the Korky''s plastic shaft, but it fits fine in the holder and gives the proper suction. Problem solved for just $1 each, and I gave the 3 Korky plungers to Goodwill.

Brita Div of Clorox 35501 Brita Replacement Water Filter Cartridge

Brita Div of Clorox 35501 Brita Replacement Water Filter CartridgeAhhhh... the Brita filters. They''re like magic. You put in your tap water with a bad after taste, and it comes out tasting like water should... like nothing!

They don''t filter everything; they don''t purify (kill bacteria), but they sure do make the water taste good and take out much of the harmful additives.

Also, they are cheap compared to buying water and don''t cause nearly as much waste as bottled water. They also save energy because they do not use massive amounts of fuel (truck or human!) for hauling.

Besides, you know most bottled waters are from the tap anyway, don''t you?

Copco Sierra Cold Tumbler, 24-Ounce Capacity

Copco Sierra 24-Ounce Cold Tumbler, Hot PinkI bought 3 different BPA-free travel tumblers on Amazon last month. This one good, and I''ll definitely keep using it, but it does not compare well to the quality and features of the other 2.

All three are all priced within a few dollars of each other, and available for Free Super Saver Shipping and Amazon Prime. I have used them only for ice water and iced tea (black and herbal), and they hold no residual flavors, even with strong teas like peppermint. I cannot vouch for how any of them would fair with smoothies, soda, or coffee drinks.

I''d rank them in this order

BEST: Aladdin Migo Aero 16-Ounce Insulated Water Tumbler with Straw, Purple

Pros: Double wall reduces sweating, stays cold, tight-fit lid, looped top handle makes it easy to carry when my hands are full, lid is domed on the interior, which makes it easy to put on even if it''s full and ice cubes are pushed up by the straw, looks very cool, fits in car cup holder, can be left at a 60 degree angle without spilling, eligible for Amazon''s 4 for 3 promotion.

Cons: Only 16 ounces are insufficient for a very hot day.

VERY GOOD: 3 Pack of BPA Free 16oz To-Go Double Wall Plastic Tumblers with 6 Reusable Straws

Pros: Double wall reduces sweating, stays cold, look very much like real drinking glasses, lids are very secure, fit in a car cup holder, six straws included for the three cups in the package, 3 cups with 3 different color straws, eligible for Amazon''s 4 for 3 promotion, BPA-free.

Cons: Lids are a little more difficult to put on because they are wider, the pink straw and the red straw look similar in dim light causing some bickering between my kids, only 16 ounces are insufficient for a very hot day, I had to go to the manufacturer''s website to find out that they are BPA-free.

FALLS SHORT: Copco Sierra 24-Ounce Cold Tumbler, Hot Pink

Pros: 24 ounce capacity saves me trips back to the kitchen for refills, silicone band around the middle provides no slip grip, easier to see the color in dim light.

Cons: NOT double-walled so it sweats profusely and feels a lot less sturdy than the other 2, lid is a little more difficult to put on because they are wider, not eligible for the Amazon 4 for 3 promotion.

I bought one of these cups after seeing one of my friends with one. I have since ordered 4 more as gifts! You can''t find these colors anywhere for this price (around $13 every where else). These cups are FANTASTIC!!! Durable, cute, perfect size, AWESOME & unique straw (that doubles as a stirrer)...I could go on and on about this cup. I use it daily for iced coffee then after a quick wash I fill it and use it all day with ice water. It can be taken to your fav coffee place and filled with any ''venti'' size cold drink and you''ll save .20 for bringing your own cup! Two notes: 1st, even though it says dishwasher safe I would recommend hand washing to prolong the life of the cup. And 2nd, The lid has a rubber ring that seals the cup from spills. Be careful not to turn the lid too tight or you''ll loosen the ring and have to use something to stuff it back. It is an easy fix, but I didn''t realize when I bought it that it has a quarter turn locking lid. **even though lid seals you can still spill through the hole for the straw**

LOVE LOVE LOVE this cup!!!

Buy Copco Sierra Cold Tumbler, 24-Ounce Capacity Now

I bought the Starbucks version of this style cup for $15 and liked it but wanted a cheaper version of it so I could have several on hand. I found these here and bought three of them. They are very nice for what they are intended for and I do like them but they aren''t as nice as the Starbucks one. These are not double walled so their insulation is not as good and that causes them to sweat. But I can live with that. The straws on these are MUCH better than the one that comes with the Starbucks cup because they have a stirring mechanism built in with the "fins" on the bottom.

All in all they are very nice and I would recommend them to others. However, if you are looking for the same quality as the Starbucks cup you will be somewhat disappointed with these.

Someone I know raved about their Starbucks double-walled cold cup and I went to Amazon hoping to buy my own. They were out of stock at the Starbucks stores and being sold by others on Amazon for outrageous prices, so I investigated other options.

I wanted a 24 oz. cup so that narrowed my choices right off the bat. The Copco Sierra tumblers looked really cute and I liked the rubber grip feature, secure lid and "finned" straw. All the initial reviews were positive so I purchased 2 of these.

The bright colored versions of these tumblers are exactly the same as the brown version, but for some reason Amazon has them listed separately. Someone who reviewed the brown one said that they were double-insulated and did not "sweat" though other people said they did.

Here''s the real deal: they are NOT double-insulated, and they DO "sweat!" See my photos for verification. Even the rubber hand grip portion collects condensation, and also gets very coldso overall I would say these are not very well insulated and you need a coaster if you don''t want a wet table.

The other thing that disappointed me is that the tumblers are not comfortable to drink out of directly (without the straw and lid), because of the threads for the screw-on lid. sometimes I like to use a cup like this without a straw, but I won''t be using this one that way. The screw-on feature does make the lid more secure, so it''s a trade-off.

Bottom line is, I like but don''t love these tumblers. Guess I''ll wait for the next shipment of the double-walled ones from Starbucks unless something better comes along!

I''ve been on a quest to find a new cup for work.. and I''m glad to say I''ve found it! This is easily my new favorite cup. The material is a nice and sturdy plastic the top lid uses a quarter turn lock so it doesn''t require a whole lot of effort to get it on and off the cup. If closed correctly it will prevent any major spills from occurring should it get knocked over, However liquid can escape through the straw hole and the seal if not turned right side up in a timely fashion. Overall it provides a fun and stylish way to be ECO-friendly with your cool summer drinks.

Walgreens Clearly Better Pitcher Filter Replacement Cartridge

Walgreens Clearly Better Pitcher Filter Replacement CartridgeThe listed price for this item seems wrong. I just got a three-pack of these filters at a Walgreens store for about $15. Clearly someone has made a mistake because it seems the picture is for a one-filter pack but the price is quite high. What gives?

As for the quality, the jury is out. I replaced my Brita filter for a Brita pitcher with the Walgreens/Culligan less-costly replacement. And the water has a strange taste, almost like citrus. I can''t understand that. It tastes flavored, and not a very good flavor. The water is the same as before. With the Brita filter it just tasted like clean, neutral water.

We have always had very good water but the last few years I have noticed more chlorine being added with the resulting smell and taste. This takes that out and I use it everyday for making coffee and tea and you can taste the difference. Since it uses activated charcoal and ion exchange it also removes mercury, copper, zinc and others but I use this for the improvement in water taste.

Oreck Steam & Glide Steam Mop

Oreck Steam & Glide Steam MopLightweight, so easy to transport up and down. Holds plenty of water for my space which is 1675sft.

Nice long cord, although I would have it longer.

The only drawback is the pad does not stay securely on all the time.

Steam mop head too small for large areas, requiring numerous refills of reservoir & removal of dirt from the head. This item would be ideal for small surface areas. A bit pricey for it''s competition who sell it for about half of the price.

I owned a Shark steam mop and it stopped working shortly after I bought it so I thought I''d try the Oreck. This can barely be called a steam mop! It makes noise like steam, but drips water all over the floor, leaving little puddles everywhere. Can''t walk on the floor for 30 minutes while all these puddles dry up. And even though I sweep and vacuum before using it, it just pushes any leftover dirt around the floor and deposits it in globs, most irritatingly against the baseboards. So the only way you should buy this is if your idea of cleaning your floor is to sweep, vacuum, use this so-called steam mop, then get down on your hands and knees to wipe up the leftover dirt and water. Don''t waste your money.

Capresso 4440.90 3-pack Charcoal Water Filters Save 6% Off

Capresso 4440.90 3-pack Charcoal Water FiltersAs much as I love Capresso products this one is questionable.

You might wonder what I mean by this well, first of all look at the costs for just three filters. Second: If you use these filters as recommended on the package (60 uses or 6 weeks) then just do the math.

Yes, you will pay in one year more than the cost of your coffee maker. I have a Capresso coffee maker that cost over $200 and I love it but cannot afford these filters.

To beat this unnecessary filter and its expense, this is what you do. Simply use filtered water. Quality filtered water will be without all the particles and contaminants that will hurt your coffee maker. Then, follow the coffee maker''s instructions regarding its cleaning like using white vinegar to keep the system free of harmful calcification.

Manufacturers are in business to make money and they will sell you whatever you believe you must buy these filters are not necessary!

Beginning with the Coffee Team Plus, Capresso introduced the concept of a water filter in the water tank of their automatic coffee makers. If you use tap water, the filter is a wonderful idea. It removes impurities and chlorine before the water is heated. Clean water and a clean coffee maker = great coffee.

The manufacturer''s recommendation is to change filters every 6 weeks or 60 pots of coffee. I usually change them every two months, or so. I imagine the effectiveness of the filter may depend on the quality of the water you use. I haven''t had a problem yet.

Usage tip: Each filter is individually wrapped in plastic to keep it fresh until opened. When you open a filter, first soak it in cold water for about 15 minutes. Then rinse it under running water for another minute or two until the water dripping from the filter is clear. If you still see black particles dripping from the filter, run a pot of water through the coffee maker, with the new filter inserted, without coffee beans and discard the water afterward, or use the water for plants (when it is cooled, of course.)

I thought I would raise the average rating on this product: I use it for my cappresso coffee maker & grinder and works very well. As far as not working on other coffee makers it doesn''t take a genius to read a manual or even to look at the damn things. Sorry to offend anyone mistakes happen or even ignorance but rating it a zero because YOU baught the wrong product is stupidity. Thanks and enjoy the clean water = good tasting coffee!

I have always used the water filters and had no complaints. Just make sure you soak them for a few minutes and run a few cups of water (no coffee) through your coffee maker when you put a new one in. This will eliminate any stray charcoal in the first pot of coffee you brew with a new filter.

Casabella Bowl Brush Set

Casabella Bowl Brush SetIt''s a toilet brush, it brushes toilets. I can''t believe that I''m reviewing this, but it does work. Not a lot of elaboration I can provide here.

I like this little brush set because the holder is easy to clean. My last set was a tall steel set and it was a real chore to keep clean. It cost much more than this set and it rusted. This set is more sanitary, can''t rust, and inexpensive. Its stiff bristles do the job well. Great value!

I can''t believe how difficult it is to find a basic, unobtrusive bowl brush set.

I don''t want something to be a decorative accent in the bathroom just a brush that I can use, tuck away and have handy when I need it next.

I thought I''d found it with this, but the problem is that the base is too lightweight and doesn''t stay put when you reach to remove the brush.

The brush fits perfectly in the base, but when you reach for it with one hand, the base stays on and come up with it too.

You have to either hold it up against the wall with your foot or bend down and hold the base down with one hand, then pull the brush out with the other.

I''ve been looking for a ceramic pot or bowl of a similar size and shape to use in its place but no luck yet.

It''s a fact that not all bowl brushes are created equal. I have owned some in the past that fall apart, break, tip over in their holders and make a mess, etc. And often those brushes have cost more than this one that can be delivered conveniently to your front door. This Casabella brush is as good as it gets for the price. It''s solidly made with a nice full rounded brush that is neither shedding nor bending out of shape with vigorous use. Also, the holder is a nice straight up design that holds the brush tightly, doesn''t tip over easily, and best of all can be readily cleaned without a lot of hassle. This brush costs less here on Amazon for similar models in stores, and is shipped free when bundled. All the more we could ask for is that it came with a little elf that does the dirty job for us. Recommended indeed... : )

Tersano lotus LWTCW1K Water Treatment System Clean Water Carafe with Lid
  • Manufactured to the Highest Quality Available.
  • Design is stylish and innovative. Satisfaction Ensured.
  • Great Gift Idea.

I purchased the Tersano Lotus Water Treatment System a while back and am very fond of it. I originally thought that buying a second plastic pitcher was a waste of financial resources. However, I''ve found the shape and design ideal. Obviously it works seamlessly with the auto-fill of the Lotus, but it also fits neatly on a refrigerator shelf, cleans well in a dishwasher, and being blue gives the reflected water a nice color (ok, that isn''t important). My only complaint is the lid while easy to put on and remove sometimes doesn''t let water flow smoothly. The latch gets stuck and as you increase the angle of pitcher to pour the water, it suddenly pours out too much water... and splash. This doesn''t happen too often, but it does happen.

Probably the best thing about the carafe is that I''ve been filling and emptying mine 2+ times per day and washing weekly in a dishwasher for the past six months and so far no cracks or breakage.

I bought water treatment system elsewhere. Water did taste better BUT I have asthma. My asthma got worse & I could smell ozone when I ran the machine. I got an ozone test kit & put test strip about foot from the top of the machine; test from the IAACM-. Test confirmed unsafe ozone levels. Later I saw Consumer Reports explain their test results of ozone being released was the reason it was listed as unsafe/ do not buy. I stopped using the Lotus water treatment & my asthma is much better. I was very upset b/c it has the water quality association gold seal, passed both NSF 42/ 53 tests, & filter lasts 300 gal. BUT IT DOES RELEASE OZONE so don''t buy it if you value your lungs! Even if my unit was defective,it is too much of a hassle to keep getting ozone test kits to check if a unit is o.k. Look at Consumer Report user reviews, etc. to see others have ozone issues too. There is a pitcher purifier but filter ($8 ea) last only 40 gallons, so lots of filters in the trash. Reverse osmosis can waste water & takes lots of under counter/ sink space. Still looking for a water PURIFIER not a water filter system that I can manage myself.

Lids don''t fit well. Lids easily fall easily into carafe. The carafe was put in frige after filling it w/ filtered H2O. After 2 days, I always saw black mold on lid. I had to scrub the lids using new toothbrushes to get it out of crevices.

KitchenAid Personal Coffee Maker

KitchenAid Personal Coffee Maker - In Silver Color kcm0402cu included 18 oz thermal mugPurchased mine directly from KitchenAid.

I have been on the hunt for a single server brewer that doesn''t use those awful Keurig pods. I want to use my own, home roasted coffee and I''m picky about water temperature, spray head design, etc. I''m a coffee professional working in the Specialty Coffee industry. I live a breathe coffee every day. I prefer manual brew methods, but at 7am I want a good cup without the fuss. This brewer has impressed me in that role for sure.

This brewer has really fit the bill. The water gets up to the required 200 degrees, the shower head design disperses the water evenly across the bed of coffee, and it brews quickly through a nicely designed brew basket and gold tone filter.

The gold tone filter works quite well. I would avoid paper. Aside from the waste, paper filters soak up a lot of the volatile oils in the coffee that provide so much of the flavor especially in the body of the coffee. The metal filter allows those oils to extract into the coffee giving a more flavorful cup with better body. If you use paper, go with the Filtropa brand. The white ones.

The water reservoir is handy. It has a nice handle that lifts up on the top for easy carrying. The carafe/travel mug keep the coffee hot. I use it as a carafe instead of a travel mug. I just know I''ll lose it if I take it to the car and I like to keep the coffee hot while I drink a cup waiting for my wife to come get her cup in the morning. It pours very nicely into a regular mug.

You can also put your own regular mug under it, but I prefer the carafe/travel mug so that the coffee stays hot inbetween pours.

This is just the right portion size. I can make one 12oz cup for myself, or 2 12 oz cups for me and my wife (with a little left over for a partial refill makes 18oz total at full capacity). This was very well thought out!

It is tall, but it will fit under your cabinets (well, most cabinets). You may have to slide it out a bit to remove the water reservoir, but what''s the big deal? Every coffee maker I have ever owned required that in order to pour in my water.

The drip tray is fantastic. Most brewers don''t have them, and that''s a shame. KA took a cue from the espresso market and included one on this unit. It''s handy and gives it an upscale feel that is appreciated.

Some may consider the lack of a timer a negative. Not me. Once you grind your coffee, you start losing noticeable flavor in less than 1 minute. Grinding your coffee and leaving it in the non-air tight brew basket for 8 hours should be a crime! Is it that hard to scoop and grind in the morning?

Leaving the timer off is, I''m sure, a big part of why this machine is so affordable. KitchenAid has always been great at including the features you need, and not the ones you don''t so that they can build high quality gear at a reasonable price point.

And, yeah, the blue light on the front is mesmerizing. What can I say?

Really great machine! Coffee is HOT, and flavor is outstanding, never bitter and no funny aftertaste, this really lets the flavor come through. Although I like the design of the Hamilton Beach Scoop better, this KA makes a better tasting cup I had them both side by side for a week and picked the KA, and returned the HB. I think the cone shaped filter and the showerhead design gives this machine what the HB Scoop lacks evenly soaked grounds and a nice bold flavor from the cone design vs. the flat bottom HB filter. Build quality seems okay, and the design works quite well no complaints. I use 5 tbsp''s for 16oz. and it''s just right. I didn''t care for the thermal mug that came with it, seemed to introduce a plastic taste. I found a 16oz Mr. Coffee "Traverse" ceramic travel mug that fits this machine perfectly and this combo is equal to, if not better than anything I get when buying coffee out vs. making it at home, and I''m extremely picky about that.

Edit 3 machines later.... I give up. I really like this machine, but unfortunately it has a fatal flaw. Each of the 3 machines I bought ended up having the same issue after about 3 weeks of use it''s clearly a design flaw. The filter basket hinge is weak, and apparently grows weaker with use due to heat. Eventually it begins to droop, creating a visible gap. But, it''s not just cosmetic, although it does look weird. When the gap grows large enough, the filter basket housing no longer makes contact with a switch that''s located in the center of the shower head housing. This switch must be depressed by the filter basket to make the brewer work, otherwise it won''t get the signal that its okay to send water. So, to make it work you have to manually push and hold the filter basket up to make it brew coffee. Too bad, because I like the coffee and the overall design, but it''s back to the drawing board for the engineers at KitchenAid.

My main coffee maker is a Cuisinart. Using high-quality beans, grinding my own, I have perfected the art of making coffee -to my tastes, at least. I tried a number of other single cup machines, and this one is the closest to my normal weekend pot. It is really just a smaller version of my main machine: cone gold filter, etc. Note that this machine does not have a hotplate, as the coffee is meant to be dispensed into either a travel mug or a regular mug. The temperature of the coffee is hot, without being too much so, and it takes about 3 5 minutes to brew a 16oz travel mug when I leave in the morning. I grind the beans and fill the water tank the night before, then just hit the power button as I''m getting ready to leave. The unit seems well made, but be aware that the entire body is metal-colored plastic, and doesn''t have the build quality of my full-sized coffee maker (stainless). All in all a good purchase for me. Recommended.

It''s huge takes up way to much counter space, the drip tray is stainless so if you use a regular coffee cup and move it at all without picking it up it sounds like nails on a chalk board. I find the water fill hatch to be unfriendly for those that need coffee to wake up in the morning.

Genuine Eureka DCF-21 Filter 68931 Save 49% Off

Genuine Eureka DCF-21 Filter 68931 - 1 filterGreat OEM factory filter that is the same as the one that comes with the vacuum when you buy the vacuum. Don''t bother to wash this filter as the user manual says you can. It will stink terribly because you can''t get all the lint and dirt out of it. I had to soak the plastic cannister parts in ammonia water to get the smell out after I washed the original filter, dried it, & vacuumed with it. YIKES! What a smell. Just toss it and get a new one every time.

This is the official filter for my vacuum. I made the (costly) mistake of buying an unofficial one at walmart and it didnt actually fit properly. This one does and works a lot more efficiently.

Two attempts to get the correct filter, genuine Eureka filter, have failed. I keep being sent the 3m Filtrate aftermarket filter. Not even the one pictured under the 3m filtrate listing. This aftermarket filter has extra feet and a piece of foam on the bottom that keep it from fitting correctly in the vacuum cleaner.

The first returns person was helpful. Tried to assure me if I ordered a sold by and fullfilled by Amazon I would receive the correct product. Vs the sold by vendor, but fullfilled by Amazon product I ordered the first time. The original order was just done by prime elligable products and the picture/ product name saying it was the correct filter. The second one I made sure was sold by and fullfilled by amazon. Recieved the same 3m filter, missing the 3m insert, but with a tiny printed tag that says eureka style, vs actually being a Eureka product. The second returns person just wants to pass the info off to technical. Didn''t seem to care this was the second time this happened.

I give up. Both are being sent back and I have to try to find the product locally.

My eureka was slowing down a bit and none of my attempts to clean the filter were met with succcess. Finally I sought out a replacement (this one) and it''s like a new machine. I wish amazon would add this to their subscription tool so I could just get a new one every 6 months or so. Yes it clogs and needs replacement, that''s the point, now all that crap isn''t in my carpet or air!

ALKALINE HYDROGEN WATER STICK

ALKALINE HYDROGEN WATER STICK -TRAVEL SIZE

  • Material - Body is 304 Stainless Steel .. Comes in plastic carrying case - easy to carry and store
  • Instructions included - All Natural Contents
  • Stick lasts about one year with 2 glasses a day

Before I bought this product I did plenty of online research on alkaline water. I was trying to understand what the benefits were and why people would pay thousands of dollars for the water ionizers. Some of the conclusions that I came to was that the alkalinity of the water was not the beneficial aspect of the water ionizers, but rather the antioxidant effects of the water. As I understand, the antioxidant effects of water or solution is measured in ORPs, which stands for Oxidation Reduction Potential, also called Redox. ORPs also measure the oxidizing effects of water.

The effects of oxidation can be witnessed when metal rusts, when a sliced apple browns, or when a material is burning. Oxidation probably works similarly in the human body, though I am not a biologist or scientist and cannot make any claims. It seems that this is why antioxidants are so popular and said to be such an important part of the body''s diet. If oxidation has the effect of breaking down, then antioxidants could be said to have the effect of building up, or at least not breaking down. Please do your own research to verify the accuracy of this information.

We were contemplating purchasing one of the less expensive water ionizers ($700 range), but it didn''t seem to make sense when some of the portable and inexpensive water ionizers such as this stick were making claims of producing negative ORP, which would be antioxidant water (I think). The expensive machines claim to produce water with an ORP in the range of anywhere from -200 to as high (or low) as -1100. As you might guess, ORP in the negative range is an antioxidant, whereas ORP in the positive range is an oxidant (again I think). I don''t know where exactly the transition point is, meaning if 0 ORP is perfectly neutral or not.

So I decided to purchase a digital ORP meter ($100) that also measured pH at the same time I ordered the portable ionizer sticks (I ordered a NewCell Alkaline Hydrogen Portable Water Ionizer Stick and a Alkaline Hydrogen Water Stick aka Diet Water Ion Stick), since using a meter is the only way to determine the ORP and this is the critical measurement. Fortunately everything arrived at the same time. Over the next few days I ran a battery of tests using different waters and taking measurements before using the stick and after. The tests were performed in my kitchen and not highly controlled, although I did do my best by rinsing everything with each new sample using the water of that particular sample as the rinse. By the way, the two portable ionizer sticks were identical, the only difference was that one cost twice as much.

Per the instructions on the portable water ionizer I placed the stick inside of a water bottle and shook for 30 seconds, then let sit for 20 minutes. I took before and after samples. Here are the results of the tests:

These first two tests I did out of the box, the remaining 7 I did a few days later.

Tap water

Before

pH: 8.17

ORP: 490

After

pH: 9.02

ORP: -125

Distilled water

Before

pH: 6.9

ORP: 230

After

pH: 10.02

ORP: -80

These tests I did a few days after I had the ionizer sticks and had been using them frequently (I only used one of the two sticks to keep the results consistent, though I get similar results from either stick):

Tap water

Before

pH: 8.29

ORP: 579

After

pH: 8.75

ORP: 75

Distilled water

Before

pH: 6.45

ORP: 350

After

pH: 10.06

ORP: 13

Arrowhead brand

Before

pH: 7.82

ORP: 243

After

pH: 8.41

ORP: 50

Crystal Geyser brand

Before

pH: 6.88

ORP: 260

After

pH: 7.34

ORP: 4

Safeway brand spring water

Before

pH: 7.67

ORP: 251

After

pH: 8.75

ORP: 24

Evian brand

Before

pH: 7.49

ORP: 258

After

pH: 8.0

ORP 10

Fuji brand

Before

pH: 7.88

ORP: 262

After

pH: 8.07

ORP 23

Conclusions: As you can see from the results the ionizer sticks had the most significant effects on the distilled and tap waters. Also, I forgot to remove the stick one morning and it sat in the water for almost 2 hours. It raised the pH of the water by about another half point from the standard results but had no appreciable effects on the ORP. It seems that shaking the water vigorously for a longer period of time will get you lower ORP.

I think that these products are definitely worth the money, and I would recommend purchasing an ORP meter if you are serious about getting the results you want.

I hope this information helped you.

UPDATE:

Sorry, I forgot to do the update earlier. About a month after having these units, I noticed that he ORP was not lowering much with use. So I decided to try to clean the units. I read somewhere in another review that using vinegar would help. So I did this. I soaked it in vinegar and shook it like I did when using it normally. Then I drained it after a minute or so, and had to rinse it by adding clean water and shaking as if I were using it normally. I had to do this several times to eliminate the smell of vinegar.

This process dramatically increased the effectiveness of the unit. I didn''t record the numbers but I remember that it was performing similarly to when it was new. A couple or a few weeks later I measured the ORP again and noticed again that it was steadily declining (moving higher into the positive range), so I did the cleaning process again. This time I soaked it and forgot about it for about 10 or 15 minutes, letting it soak in the vinegar. After cleaning out the vinegar, I noticed that there were bits and pieces of the filtering materials that were coming out of the unit into the water. After about a dozen thorough rinsings, this would not stop. I have up after about a dozen rinses believing that I ruined the unit by soaking it in vinegar for a prolonged period of time, and threw it away.

I bought this based on the other customers review . I distill my well water because of farm contamination . I had been adding cellfood but that gets costly . This stick really makes my water taste so smooth .

This is a simple mineral stick to put in your water. It does change the taste of the water. It makes it taste like mineral water. Now whether this is the magic bullet I couldn''t say, but I drink a lot of water from an RO filter, which removes all minerals so I think that this does help.

The stick gets rusty and leaks into the water. Initially the alkalinity is high and I thought this was going to be a great, convenient method to make my water alkaline. Until the rust.

Product doesn''t work started at neutral pH and was actually *lower* after leaving the stick in for several hours. Please also note the user below posted the exact same statics in another review so I''m not sure which product the statics are from.

Homedics Hum-cm50 Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier

Homedics Hum-cm50 Cool Mist Ultrasonic HumidifierI bought this because it was one of the cheaper humidifiers that I saw and was recommended by a friend. You can choose 4 levels of mist and I turned it to the highest right away. It was a bit slow to start, the mist was small on the highest setting but after running it overnight, I woke up to a nice strong mist in the morning. We use it in our bedroom which is a medium size and it does the job perfectly. I''ve been using it for a week now and wake up without dry skin and throat. I love that it oscillates and also the pleasing design. It''s also whisper quiet and you can turn the blue glow and oscillation on or off. Highly recommended.

Good: Output is nice and happens quickly. I keep it set directly in the middle.

Bad: Unit is a bit noisy and I find the motor droning to be more than white noise. Also, when it is set to oscillate there is sometimes a clunking noise as the head rotates.

I bought it and it worked fine for a few months. Then, it stopped working: Mist would not come out, and in addition, it would oscilate even when the device was turned off. I returned it and got a new one. This time, it worked well for only a couple weeks before it stopped working--again, mist would not come out. Now I have to return a second unit.

I will not be making the same mistake a third time and will be purchasing a new brand.

I bought this last winter and it suited my needs. The oscillating was a bit loud for me, but I would just turn it off while I was sleeping. A couple weeks ago I brought it out, used it twice and it stopped working. When I plug it in it just makes a really loud whirring noise and no mist comes out. I wouldn''t recommend this if you''re looking for a lasting product.

I read the reviews, and I bought 2 of them anyway last year (love the appearance and tank capacity). After last winter, I emptied and stored one unit dry. The other unit I let sit full of water all summer, never used. I thought it would mold, but it didn''t. Last week I tried to get them going again. The one I had emptied will not work at all! The other one works ok, but has developed a strange noise during oscillation. Given the countless bad reviews on this product, I''m surprised these are still for sale!

*** UPDATE: I took the functioning and non-functioning units apart to try to trouble-shoot. In the base, there is a small hole towards the back that has a white central piece that sticks up and a white ring around it that sits in the hole. In the non-functioning unit the lower ring was stuck down, but in the functioning one the ring sort of floats up and down. I gently wiggled the one that was stuck and it popped up. Put it back together and low and behold it works again!! The oscillating top makes that annoying light grinding sound, but the tank size is so much better than other units, so I''m bumping my review up to 3 stars.

Bought this from Amazon.com but the wrong size, XL, but since its drawstring and made with top quality mats, it still fit, though it hangs abit, the issue is fixed when wearing a belt, holding it up.

A L-Size would be perfect for me, and i''ll make sure to get the right size next time.

But the purpleness is great, nice color and best of all it feels great, comfy.

Update: At the time this was the cheapest purple pants i could find, but for those dudes who like this color check Ebay, instead of paying $16-$19 here you can buy purple pants @Ebay for $7 saving you $9 or more.
