Haier HWF05XCK 5,000K BTU Room Air Conditioner Save 6% Off

Haier HWF05XCK 5,000K BTU Room Air ConditionerPros;

Good output of cold Air

Blows UP

simple controls

low price

Cons;

Very Noisy, nothing "Ultra Quiet" about this AC at all

Lacks a proper drainage hole in the bottom of the housing, can be drilled

Loud

w/o the drainage hole water pools in the bottom of the housing and the fan sounds like a paddle wheel on a steam boat as it spins through the standing water

Strange Sounds; rattles, squeeks, "paddle wheel", scrapes

Noisy

We have this installed in a fairly large living room where we sleep in the summertime and it cools pretty well. It''s not what I''d call quiet, but, it''s not what I''d call really noisy either (to me it sounds like a box fan). Though, as another reviewer stated there''s no drainage holes, so it does make a little noise when the water pools.

It''s easy to install and comes with all the screws, foam strip and little brackets so, if you have a Phillips head screwdriver you should have everything you will need when you get home to install it. It''s very easy to use as well.

Overall, a nice little a/c that cools nicely.

UPDATE 6/9/11: This is still working nicely for us, though, we started running a fan about 5 feet from this to "pull" the cool air down (as it blows up) as we have very high ceilings and that really helps it actually not only cool down our living room but, our kitchen as well. We have an open floor plan in our home with high ceilings and so far with the fan set up while this a/c is running has been keeping us more than cool enough.

If you want an a/c that''s going to "freeze" you out this little a/c probably isn''t for you. If you have a small to mid-size room and you want to be just cool and comfortable, than this will work; at least it has for us.

I had one of these that lasted 3 years, I noticed that there was no drainage, I looked it up and apparently the water is supposed to keep the motor cool. But if its too humid it spits water and ice. I purchased a new one a few days ago because I know it going to be a brutal summer, and once again. no Drainage hole. So this time I took pliers and bent the lower pan out so water could drain, and it does. I think there is enough water in the bottom to keep the motor cool and with the bottom drain I created it does not spit water and is quieter. Seems to run very well. When they made this they prolly did not count on Ga humidity. It cools my 14x12 Room very well. It can be 100 outside and 65 in my room with the unit running.

I recently moved to Chicago, where it is quite humid in the summer time. If we didn''t live in such a humid area, I think this actually might work alright. But that''s not the case and we wasted $100 for basically nothing.

The room we were initially planning on using this was a small bedroom, but unfortunately it only extends up to 3 ft or so, which isn''t long enough to accommodate our window (poor planning on our part). We instead put it in our living room, which is about 8x10. This manages to cool more than half of the room. If you''re standing on the opposite side of the room, you won''t feel the cool air at all. We''ve had this running on full blast for 5 days and it still hasn''t gotten the room cooler than 78-80 degrees, but most of the time it''s much hotter than that even. It pulls in so much humidity from outside that you''re constantly sweating regardless, so that 78 is actually feels like 6-8 degrees warmer. In addition, it''s incredibly noisy. We have to listen to TV with the volume on full blast and still have difficulty hearing it sometimes.

Before this I was living in FL where it is comparably humid, and I have used a 5,000 btu frigidaire window ac unit that was much quieter, did not pull in humidity and it easily cooled down an entire 700 sq ft apartment within 2-3 hours. It''s maybe $30-40 more than this unit, but it''s well worth it, especially if you live in humid climates. Unfortunately for us, the place we bought this at will not return it if the box has been opened, so we''ll have to buy a whole new AC once we get the money.

This A/C unit clearly states in its booklet that it should not be run when its 65 degrees or cooler. It should not be run when there is any moisture inside from cooking or (in my case) clothes drying, and if you have a humidifier, forget about it. Any of those conditions will ice up the grill, then this water will not drain, the water is clearly not designed to cool the coils because theres a huge styrofoam block preventing that. My opinion on this unit is that some foreign company was trying to capitolize on making the cheapest A/C unit they could (worth about 30-50$) and then selling it to just barly undercut the next cheapest unit available at 100$ (GE makes it I think). This thing is light, I am weak and small and I can practically throw it up and catch it, and its loud, and in my climate in the mountains I cant leave it on past dusk or it turns into a popsicle. I am very disappointed in the item, it is going back. I have a Haier portable washing machine which I love, but this item has not been made by A/C professionals.

14804 Sears Kenmore Humidifier Wick Filter

14804 Sears Kenmore Humidifier Wick FilterThese filters were not Kenmore filters but were supposed to be a replacement filter for a Kenmore they were an off brand and very inferior. I am using them since I don''t want the expense of returning them. Never again will I buy from this source.

This product was horrible. I purchased two to get us through the next few months and neither filter lasted longer than a week. The issue is that it looks like they are put together with some type of glue gun or something. The glue melted into the humidifier basin so there was a white film in it. Then the filter itself formed a goopy barrier (again the glue) where it hit the water in the humidifier which blocked the filter from working at all anymore.

Just horrible.

Buy 14804 Sears Kenmore Humidifier Wick Filter Now

This filter is not a genuie Kenmore filter but rather an no name brand replacement. The filter did not wick the water as good as a genuine Kenmore filter nor did it last as long. It virtually stopped wicking after about a month of use while I got a full season of use out of a Kenmore filter in a second humidifier that I have. This filter was much cheaper so I guess you get what you pay for. I would not buy this product again, not a good value.

I''ve used many different brands of filters for the Sears humidifier and these are not good. They do not have much wicking material, large "honeycomb" holes, thus they do not produce much moisture. With less fabric they silt up with the minerals very quickly. After about a week it was hard as a rock (lime) and do not wick. This price was good but you get what you pay for.

Old Friend Women''s 441154 Slip-On

Womens Clog SlipperI got these as a gift 4, maybe 5 years ago and they''re still going strong! Not as fluffy as they used to be, but still hella comfortable and in good shape. I''m buying a pair of Old Friends for my boyfriend; I don''t think he''s ever owned a decent pair of slippers. Well, neither had I, until I got these! They''re easy to slip in and out of, very durable and warm.

I bought these in March and have used lightly over the Spring and Summer. These are very comfortable and have good arch support. I enjoy the fleecey lining and the rubber sole. Exactly what I wanted... except the sewing around the edge of the sole and the lip of the shoe is starting to unravel already, after light use. I am sad, given that these were not cheap shoes, and surprised as the reviews indicated a quality product. I might have to look for new slippers again already this winter...

It slid off my foot and slapped my heal with every step. I was quite disappointed and returned the shoe. I have replaced it with another brand.

My wife is on her second pair of these slippers. She says they fit well and are warm and cozy. they have a real sheepskin lining. Problem is, they do not last long. She wore the first pair out in around a year and we did get an adjustment on the price from Amazon. We ordered a new pair thinking the first pair was defective but now that pair is wearing out prematurily. The stitching is coming out and the heel on one slipper is wearing down. I don''t think we will order these again.

I purchased this because we badly needed a handheld shower to bathe our infant. I went down the path of replacing the tub spout (with one that had a diverter) but too much money and labor was involved. I looked at several other products that would let you attach a handheld to a sink faucet, but each one of those had issues. I am very happy to write that the Sprite Baby Shower was the perfect solution for us. It does not leak and the quick remove adapter really works well. It only take minutes to install it. The only problem we had was that the Chlorine filter was too long for our bathroom sink (in the manual they only want you to attach it to the kitchen sink which is much deeper), So I removed the chlorine filter and just used the handheld attachment. Works great!

10 Washing Machine Lint Traps Aluminum Mesh With Clamps

10 Washing Machine Lint Traps Aluminum Mesh With ClampsAs another reviewer pointed out, this is totally misleading. There are only 2 traps for $10 even though the title says 10.

I am so disappointed with this product. When you unroll the lint trap it curves inward and is dificult to puff out so the lint can get to the bottom and it is so thin that it barly holds its tube shape. The ties also are poor quality because they don''t tighten to well. I know now to stay away from this product! P.s. before thinking of getting them, try your local dollar store. This filter was delivered quickly and it came with a filter wrench which was a great help to open it. It was easy to install and the the new diverter works way better. The only improvement I could suggest is that it be supplied with a carbon type filter instead of the string sediment filter it came with.

I let it run for a little bit and much to my dismay The water tasted like chlorine still and had a funny smell. I have had it for a while and it hasn''t gotten much better. I leave the water running for about 4 minutes and then I get my water for coffee or what ever I need it for. Capresso 464.05 CoffeeTeam GS 10-Cup Digital Coffeemaker Save 12% Off

Capresso 464.05 CoffeeTeam GS 10-Cup Digital Coffeemaker with Conical Burr GrinderI''m writing from the perspective of someone who has owned more grind&brew coffeemakers than the typical coffee addict. This one is as good a grind&brew machine as anyone makes.

First, the negatives:

It is definitely loud and long in grinding, as other owners mention. The burr grinding process is wonderfully consistent compared to blade grinding, but it seems to take forever and the noise is enough to wake up the ... sleeping.

It doesn''t have a way to dump out the unusued coffee beans if you want to change blends to another bean (though you can still put pre-ground coffee in the basket while there are beans waiting to be ground.)

The carafe does tend to make a sort of "cracking" sound when it sits on the hotplate sometimes.

I have owned some of the most popular, and some unusual, grind & brew machines in the past 30+ years, including a very different Capresso long, long ago. There are some models/brands that only have a single grind possibility (no settings), some that require constant cleaning of parts, some that fall apart within the year and don''t have even that much warranty, and one that was going to cost an extra $65 to replace the faulty super-recessed lid switch, which died after 4 months, without which it was totally unusable. There''s only one of those previous coffeemakers that I''d buy again by choice, and they stopped making it over 20 years ago.

This Capresso is well made, nicely packaged, and has all the features I want:

Fineness of grind is controlled with 5 possible settings

Amount of beans ground (from the hopper that holds approx. 2-3 pots of beans) is settable in 2-cup increments from 2 to 10 cups.

"Aroma" (i.e. darkness & flavor) is controlled with 3 settings, which in combination with other controls seems designed to yield every possible preference for "perfect" coffee.

It has automatic shut-off. (One of the much-lower-priced grind&brew machines doesn''t have this feature, which I think should be mandatory on coffeemakers considering how many fires are started by overheating appliances.)

It has drip-trip, which is critical as I often don''t want to wait for the full pot to brew before I take a cup in the morning.

It''s completely programmable. Not only can you set a start time, but you can associate specific settings with the programmed time that are not the same as the current settings.

Other pluses that are less quantifiable:

It doesn''t seem to cause me to spill water all over the counter in filling it, like the last one I had. I have no idea what design elements affect this, I just know that it happens with some coffeemakers & not others.

It takes some parts in common with the other-brand grind&brew that I last had, which started leaking when brewing. The charcoal filters and basket, at the least, seem in common with many other brands.

It cost quite a bit compared to some of the more popular models but, frankly, I''m convinced it''s worth the extra investment.

--------

ADDED 11 MONTHS LATER:

I had problems with my coffeemaker (not dripping, though the grinder was fine) just under a year from purchase. I contacted Capresso -pay attention to their website advisory that Monday morning is the worst time to contact them! Despite the fact that I thought it was just past the warranty expiration, when actually it was just before the end-date, they were very helpful in getting it repaired at no charge, and they paid all shipping both ways.

Two weeks later, I now have a like-new or new (I''m not sure which) coffeemaker. I have to admit that I had no idea just how hooked I was on the quality of coffee I can make so easily with the Capresso. But in the interim, everything else has been tasting like dishwater by comparison.

I''m not only thrilled to have my coffeemaker back, but I''m happy to report that Capresso stands behind their products so amicably and thoroughly.

I''m a Top 1000 Reviewer here at Amazon, but haven''t reviewed anything in years -until now. The Capresso 464 compelled me.

First things first. This is not my first grind and brew. My old Melitta Mill & Brew, with its faulty plastic latch long since broken had become a drag. For years I had to put a box of chicken stock on top of the grind chamber to keep it shut so it would work! And while it made pretty good coffee, it seemed to waste grounds by spraying them inside the grinder basket. And the daily cleanup ritual had started to make the whole idea of grinding and brewing in one device seem only of marginal value. And yet, the alternatives, including a best-selling Cuisinart model, have notorious bad reviews here at Amazon for being a total chore to clean.

Enter the Capresso CoffeeTeam GS, which solves all of my problems with its ingenious design. No longer do you have to measure the coffee. The CoffeeTeam GS will brew from 2 to 10 cups automatically, grinding just the right amount of beans with no guesswork. Cleanup is a breeze. The filter basket swings out and is easily washed. And because the grinding occurs in a separate chamber from the filter basket, there is no wasted coffee.

The quality of the coffee is also exactly what I want -hot, and with the full flavor of the bean preserved by the conical burr grinders. If you want stronger or weaker coffee, it''s very easy to do. You can also choose finer or coarser grinds depending on the type of coffee you are using (oily coffee should be coarser, light coffee finer).

There are two items that are drawbacks, but I don''t mind them so am still giving this five stars. First, the grinder is wake-up-your-wife loud. And it can go for 40 seconds if you are making a full pot. It''s not so loud that it hurts your ears, but it is not pleasant, and Capresso would have done well to add some amount of noise insulation. Second, because of the design, a small amount of ground coffee is left in the machine every time. This is an issue in two respects. First, switching from one type of coffee to another is not instantaneous, because invariably there is this overlap. Second, if you leave the machine unused for more than about a week, Capresso recommends cleaning out the coffee chamber and using new coffee. That''s because the coffee will get a little more stale with each passing day. But like I said, in my mind these are very minor complaints to a really great product!

Buy Capresso 464.05 CoffeeTeam GS 10-Cup Digital Coffeemaker Now

This is my first review but I''m taking the time to express how impressed I am with this product and the company. I bought the coffee maker/burr grinder combo because of my annoyance with grinding beans that get all over the place. This coffee maker grinder/combo works wonderfully. Put the beans in, set the grind setting, and there you go. The consistency of the grind is awesome! I have it set to grind the finest with a mix of esspresso and columbian beans with no clogging problems at all for over a month now. I was wary because I had heard gripes about how loud the grinder is but I really found it to be quieter than my previous stand alone Cappresso grinder which cost $60 alone. I get up at 0400 and it doesn''t wake up the rest of the house. The best part was the customer service. After a couple of days, I noticed that the clock appeared to be off. I measured it over several days and it ended up that the digital clock ran fast which messed up the programmed time I wanted coffee in the morning. I was worried that it would be a pain to return since I bought it on the internet and return or repair would be a hassel. When I called the 800 number for Capresso in the manual and told them my story they sent me out a replacement unit (without even requiring proof or info that I purchased the unit from a third party). The new unit arrived with return UPS label (I didn''t need to pay for shipping for the new unit or return) and it works great!

I recommend this purchase whole heartedly. If your looking at this machine because you want great fresh coffee with NO mess and NO worries, this is the machine and the company for you!

After 2 generations of Cuisenart Grind and Brew frustrations I took a shot on this Capresso unit. So far it has been just great. The set up is easy and the clean up is a breeze compared to the Cuisenart. The noise is lower pitched so it really doesen''t bother me as it is no louder then a stand alone grinder. You must take time to try all the different combinations of grind, aroma and amount to find the perfect blend for your taste. It took us about 2 weeks of trying different combinations but now that we are set the coffee is perfect every time. We had a small issue with the drip stop but customer service was quick to send out a fix at no charge. I love this machine!

DeLonghi ECO310BK 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Machine Save 29% Off

DeLonghi ECO310BK 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Machine, Piano BlackWe were worried about purchasing this product after reading the previous review about the lukewarm results. However, we had read so many other reviews of similar machines that we thought it could easily have been user error. When we bought the machine, we actually read the manual very carefully before doing anything. (Not our typical style :) We followed the instructions. We did more than the minimum 5 recommended times of running the machine using water only; it needed about 10 times of this to get really hot -but only on the first time out of the box. The espresso itself can be pretty good, but probably only for a casual espresso drinker. Even for casual sippers such as ourselves, it is easy to pull a shot that is completely undrinkable. (Actually, my husband is less discerning, so we feed him the "bad" shots.) I know what a beautiful espresso tastes like since I work next to a famous Illy shop in DC, and this espresso is, sadly, not the same. But, it is still very wonderful and enjoyable. Very drinkable, if you take care. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase.

I would like to give another tip, which is that the first 10 or so times that you use the machine, the filter attachment (the thing with the handle) is extremely hard to get to its fully attached position. Fully attached is perpendicular to the machine; this is not indicated anywhere in the manual. So if your machine is LOUD, you may not have this fully attached. It gets easier after a few uses. The machine is not very loud when you use it properly.

Cheers!

I fell in love with this machine--both its looks and its espresso quality--after being introduced to it by a DeLonghi employee in a department store. He pulled a great shot for me in the store: dark, rich taste, very hot, with a lot of crema, and for the past week I''ve had similarly great results at home. I was leery buying this machine after reading the Amazon reviews, but I took a risk and I couldn''t be happier.

Lukewarm shots seem to be a common complaint for machines like this. They happen for a variety of reasons, but this 15-bar pump definitely produces all the heat you need. Problems occur, rather, when the filter (the scoop-like handle) and your espresso cups aren''t hot enough. First, run the machine with just water at least once before you make a shot, every time. I also run the filter and my cup(s) under hot water just before using, and as a result my coffee both tastes rich and is very hot. You also, without a doubt, need coffee that''s been ground with an excellent conical burr grinder to get a fine and consistent grind, which is crucial for the way machines like this work. Most grinders that do a great espresso grind unfortunately cost as much as this machine, but as a substitute you can certainly get it ground professionally at your local coffee shop, and use that coffee for a few days. Not as fresh, but the grind is more crucial. Keep in mind these two things (good grind + warm cups & filter) and you will produce fantastic shots with this machine. And its style definitely classes up your kitchen!

I had the same leaking problem with the DeLonghi 270 that so many others seemed to have. I had it fixed, but decided to give up when the frothing nozzle melted onto the unit and could not be removed for cleaning (right after the one year warranty expired). The DeLonghi ECO 310 seems to be a much better design. It has a larger water tank, easy to remove frothing cover and nozzle, makes a large cup of espresso fairly quickly, and doesn''t look chintzy. Hopefully, it''s built for the long term. The only drawback I found was that there is only 3.5 inches between the cup tray and the filter holder, so most large mugs don''t fit. That seems to be common with these machines, however. Also, I would like to mention that the measurements in the product description are slightly off. It is 10 3/4 inches deep x 9 3/4 inches wide x 12 3/4 inches high (to the top of the steam knob).

Purchased to fit the look and size of my small European kitchen, I use it with the little Deca Premium pads easily available here in Belgium for a reasonable price. Haven''t yet tried tamping my own cup with ready-made, or grinding & using my own beans, but when I do, it''ll be Illy or Lavazza, or Douwe Eggberts coffee, that I try. The coffee itself, and fineness of the grind, is 9/10ths of the equation when it comes to filter coffee or espresso, in my opinion.

Haven''t had a bad cup yet using the Deca pads, and the temp has been just fine, every time, so no reason to go crazy trying everything under the sun. Around the corner, there are 8 caffes I can use for that, anyway! What I wanted was a way to get my caffiene fix, quick, here at home, without needing a degree in avionics or engineering to learn the ins and outs of the machine.

It was simple to use using the "quick card" pictures included to set up and get going, and in a few minutes--voila! Hot, delicious espresso.

The machine is brand new to me, so maybe over time I''ll come to find some things I don''t like about it. For now, it''s exactly what we wanted at a price we didn''t mind paying.

I have to say that I love that I got this espresso machine. It has been a lot of fun making tasty espresso at home. This is my first espresso machine and before this I had never pulled a shot of espresso before. After only half an hour of explanation I learned how to easily pull a very tasty shot from this machine. There is a lot of good stuff about this machine, but also a few things I wish were improved upon.

The best thing about this machine is that it is easy to pull a delicious shot of espresso with this machine, if you do it right you won''t fail. I like that the machine looks really good on my countertop. It has a larger water reservoir and a nice cup warming tray, although the warming tray won''t heat up your cups but will keep them warm if you have already heated them up with hot water. Its really great that I can use either a prepacked coffee packet or tamp my own grounds for the espresso. The two spouts pour very evenly and it produces a lot of great creama.

There are a few things I wish were improved upon. One of which is the button interface, its nonintuitive if you are using it for the first time. I will go into detail later on how to properly use this machine. Another big annoyance is that frother wand only swivels side to side and doesn''t rotate front to back like most machines have. The whole thing is made of plastic which gives it a slightly cheaper feel and makes it less sturdy when you are knocking the thing around. Another big annoyance is that the size of tamper you need is a really uncommon size, 52cm, and the tamper provided that is attached to the machine is awkward to use and you never really get a good tamp with it.

Here is how I have learned to make a cappuccino with this machine. If you have any other tips or recommendations, please comment below as I am still learning too.

1) Fill the water reservoir at least a quarter of the way full with water.

2) Turn on the machine by pressing the top button. The top red light should turn on. Press the bottom button to heat the water for steaming (disregard if you are not going to steam any milk). The bottom red light should turn on.

3) Grind your beans using a burr grinder on the espresso setting

4) Put a filter basket into the handle filter holder and fill the filter with one or two scoops of ground coffee using the provided scoop. (1 scoop if using the one cup filter, 2 scoops if using the two cup filter)

5) Using the handle of the scoop, level off the coffee grounds with the top of the filter. You can push the excess grounds off the filter

6) Tamp down your grounds with ~20 lbs of force. You will get a feel for how hard you need to tamp it after you see a few results

7) Turn the filter holder over and lightly shake out any loose coffee grounds. Make sure to hold the filter lock up so that the filter doesn''t fall out

8) Put your filter holder back in your machine

9) Fill a cup or frothing pitcher with however much milk you want. I pour in about half a cup of milk.

10) Once the middle green light turns on, you are good to go. Open the steam, using the knob on the top of the machine, for just a few seconds to let any water out. It is good to have a cup under the nozzle to collect the water.

11) Now put your steam nozzle into your milk and open the steam. If you put the nozzle at the bottom of you milk you will make less foam, like a latte and if you keep your nozzle near the top of the milk you will make more foam, like a cappuccino. Steam your milk until you have the amount of foam that you like and the milk is just slightly too hot to the touch (140-160 F)

12) Close the steam and take the nozzle out of the milk. Now lightly tap the bottom your pitcher and swirl the milk to make the foam just right

13) Turn the steam function off by pressing the bottom button. The bottom red light should turn off.

14) IMPORTANT. Now you want to surf the temperature back down to the proper coffee pouring temperature. To do this you want to have an empty cup ready under the steam nozzle. I use the cup that I will drink my coffee out of to heat it up, afterwards I place it on the heating trip. Open the steam knob all the way and after this press the middle button (the coffee button). You should get all the steam out of the wand at first and then the hot water will start pouring out. Do this until the middle green light turns off. Now unpress the middle button and then close the steam knob. This will help prevent your machine from burning out its heating elements.

15) Once the middle green light turns on, place your shots under the filter and press the middle button. Espresso should start pouring out in a few seconds.

16) Once you have the right amount of espresso unpress the middle button.

17) Pour your espresso into your warm cup and then pour in your steamed milk slowly adding in your foam at the end.

18) Enjoy you delicious espresso.
