Brita Pitcher, Classic, 48 oz., Eliminates Metallic/Chlorine Save 52% Off

Brita Pitcher, Classic, 48 oz., Eliminates Metallic/ChlorineI wouldn''t even give it one star really.....I ordered this Brita water filter based off the photo after looking through at least 20+ britas, and not finding the original version at a reasonable price. I bought this thinking it was what was pictured above.... IT IS NOT. The picture shows the one I want and the one they sent is completely different. Its about two 8oz cups smaller... and when you have a large family of water drinkers it''s definitely not the ideal one for you. I am so disappointed, and this was going to be a gift for my mom, there is no way that I can get the right one in time now to make it before X-mas!! Amazon rapes you on refunds, they wanna tax everything, to the point that it wouldn''t be worth it! I just had to return something else I paid 60 dollars for and amazon is trying to only refund 35.00....see what I mean. Taxing me for something that was their fault. Dont buy from this seller, and always triple check things when it comes to Amazon :(

If you want the right one try searching for 2 quart brita, or 8 cups...... as that is the original.

When I moved to a large city for college I disgusted by the poor water quality. I grew up drinking well water straight from the faucet, but at school I was forced to waste money on bottled water.

Buying a brita pitcher saved my life and my bank account. The water tastes great, and I can even use the filters longer than recommended before the chlorine taste returns.

The picture of the product is different from what I received. I wanted the older version of the Brita Standard Water Pitcher because the height is perfect for the top shelf of my refrigerator. If I lower the shelf, it creates wasted space above and less space below.

Adagio Teas Ingenuitea Teapot

Adagio Teas 16-Ounce Ingenuitea TeapotMy wife bought one of these when we were vacationing in Eureka Springs a year ago, and I thought it was another gizmo to add to the cupboard. Was I wrong. I started using it more and more, mostly for green tea, and thought it would be good to have one for work as well. So I ordered one from Cooking.com and use it all the time. I just put the tea leaves in the container, add hot water, let it sit for 5 minutes, then set it on top of my cup. The valve on the bottom opens up and the tea pours into the cup, with out the leaves (with the green tea I buy from China, the leaves are full leaves, and I can get another 2 cups out of it, so refilling is easy). The nice thing is, I can use it for coffee as well as black tea. The coffee, especially if you grind your own, tastes so much better. To clean, I just invert in a trash can, and rinse out what''s left.

Length:: 3:03 Mins

A quick demonstration of the Ingenuitea teapot. We like the ease of use of this product and especially how easy it is to clean. We tend to not use tea bags and prefer loose leaf tea. This little infuser has us drinking tea more frequently. Watch how easy it is to make a nice cup of tea:

Update December 2012:

We still use this unit all the time and it has held up quite well. One note is that the coaster in the video no longer comes with the unit. We misplaced it a long time ago anyway.

I got a pot of tea at a cafe recently and they served it up in an Ingenuitea. Within about 5 seconds, I realized this was the perfect way to make tea or coffee, actually, and that this is how tea should be made. If you like loose tea and tea balls are awkward not to mention hot to take out, etc. the Ingenuitea is the BEST. No drip, no mess, no nothin''... simply tea. Ingenious, indeed!

TIP: I''ve had this ''teacup'' (16 oz.) for a while now. I recently became frustrated with it. I use green tea (leaves never bags) and I re-infuse the leaves. Normally I would pour the hot water into the cup, steep the tea the enjoy my cuppa.

A few weeks ago, I decided to try using cold water and popping it into the microwave as suggested. That, I thought, would eliminate the step of boiling a kettle full of water for 16 oz of tea. True, but the little strainer at the bottom of the cup kept popping out, and the leaves would then strain into my cup annoying me and wasting my leaves. I was not a happy camper.

Well it finally dawned on me yesterday that the hot water worked to seal the little strainer. So now I have completely abandoned the microwave idea (probably wasn''t good for me anyway). I pour a bit of hot water into the cup, wait 3 seconds, gently press on the strainer with my spoon, listen to it pop into place and seal. THEN and only then do I add my precious tea leaves and more hot water and wait 2 to 3 minutes for gratification.

When re-infusing the leaves, I press first with the spoon while carefully adding a bit of hot water. If I don''t, when the strainer pops out the leaves already in there will slip under and end up in my cup.

I''ve noted that even when using the hot water, if you pour all at once the strainer will pop out. I don''t know why this is happening now or if it happens only with mine, but the above is my solution if you encounter the same issue.

I just purchased one of these after using a friend''s, and I love it. This is the perfect way to make loose leaf tea for one. Unlike with tea balls or spoon-size infusers, the leaves have plenty of room to unfurl as the tea steeps and there''s no clasp to come undone. Unlike with basket infusers, there''s no dripping or mess when it''s time to remove the leaves. You simply get perfectly brewed tea with no mess every time. I can''t recommend this enough.

Mr. Coffee BVMC-SJX33 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker

Mr. Coffee BVMC-SJX33 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Brushed ChromeI replaced my Cuisinart with this about two months ago and found it to be as advertised and reflective of most of the other reviews. Attractive unit that brews an excellent pot of coffee. I retired 13 years ago from the Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. I like a good cup of Joe that can be construed as a bit strong. My wife enjoys her coffee at a more civilized and nonnuclear level. This machine accommodates both. It does have one minor flaw in that the pot dribbles a bit when pouring. This small flaw can, however, be mitigated by thumbing open the lid while pouring your coffee.

This coffee maker works very well, especially as a replacement to two cheaper coffee makers that I had before that leaked, and the price is unbeatable.

This model SJX33GT is the simpler version of BVMC-SJX33GT; without the cleaning cyle option. This model does have the option of using the metal decanter which is sold separately. I intend to buy the metal decanter or replacement glass carafe, because every time I pour a cup of coffee; it drips on the counter. Other members of the household have commented on this, so it is not just how I am pouring it.

Except for this leaking problem, the coffemaker is ideal in everyway. It''s a shame.

Vicks V3500N Cool Mist Humidifier 1.1 Gallon Save 27% Off

Vicks V3500N Cool Mist Humidifier 1.1 GallonI bought this recently and set it up right away. The high setting is loud for sensitive sleepers but if you need white noise to fall asleep the humidifier can double as a sleep machine. It puts out a nice cool mist on both high and low. PROS: It has a nice design -It is a solid performer -It is easy to fill CONS: The tank and the wick cover sometimes are easily disturbed -it is a little clunky -the grill on the fan cover disperses the mist mainly in one direction when it looks as if it would be omni-directional. FINAL THOUGHTS: I recommend it highly but wish the wick was cheaper to replace (around 5 bucks 2 times a year) but considering the other ones on the market it is still a good buy.

This is a good product. it has it''s pro''s and con''s. First, it is loud when you use it on full blast. So, either deal with the noise or just turn it on early before bedtime on a medium speed so the room has time to "get humid". Secondly, it''s annoying to have to take it apart everyday (which you have to do to prevent mold, but I believe it''s something you have to do with all of these things... not just this one). On a high note, it seemed to help and I haven''t had any problems with it mechanically. I''d purchase it again and recommend it to a friend.

PS: the noise is kind of a good thing for baby like white noise. I''m a light sleeper though and didn''t like it I kept it on medium all the time.

We bought this unit at Babies R Us to combat dry winter indoor air. We were specifically looking into cool mist versus a vaporizer because vaporiers will add heat to the room along with moisture. We chose this unit because it uses evaporation to put the correct amount of moisture into the air instead of "spray" moisture into the air like other units. Filters last 3 months, although they appear dirty after a couple of uses we found out (after calling) that that is supposed to happen and it does not mean that they shouldn''t be used. The tank is easy to fill and carry and the units fan adds that pleasant "white" noise that I actually found soothing. This unit is great if you want to take the guesswork out of using a humidifier. Will buy another for the living area.

I just bought this humidifier yesterday but I am very impressed with it already. My 5 month old has had a cough so bad it was making him throw up. Two nights ago (before the purchase) he had stayed awake almost the enitre night. Last night he slept great--9.5 hours with only waking up once. I turned the humidifier on the high speed which is loud, but this is a child who falls asleep to the vacuum cleaner. I have to say the room got cool but it sure helped a ton. Also it ran for 10 hours and still had water left, but we also have good water here in Memphis so I guess the length of time it runs has to do with the water condition. It was also very easy to open and fill with water. I love this product already.

I have had my filter for 1 year and use it only in the winter to counteract the dry heat. Last winter I ran through 3 filter for the season, and this winter it looks like I will do the same. I want to consider a second one for my upcomming baby, but I am trying to see it there are any other better on the filters. The filters are $8-9 a piece. They grow mold very quickly. They last 3 weeks to a month. It is very quiet, feels good, and works great on my sinuses. But keep your nose alert for the mold smell, and prepare your pockets for the filters.

Pumie Toilet Bowl Ring Remover #TBR-6 Save 80% Off

Pumie Toilet Bowl Ring Remover #TBR-6Alas, freshening the bathroom bowl is one of those household things I just hate. My wife has assigned the task to me and I try to keep the work to a minimum. I''ve found a wonderful bathroom bowl cleaner referred to as "The Works" (available at Wall-Mart and other stores, but can be somewhat hard to find). It makes cleaning a toilet real easy. However, even with this miracle worker, sometimes a light ring is evident and that has always bothered my wife. We picked up a Pumie and it essentially removed the ring. I''m impressed!

I''m a geologist, so please pardon the following analysis. Pumice is a natural volcanic glass and, as such, has just about the same degree of hardness (resistance to scratching) as the toilet bowl porcelain. If anything, the porcelain might be slightly softer. The package says that the product is "safe." Well, pumice is not toxic in any way so by safe they probably mean that it won''t scratch porcelain. But they then warn about using the Pumie on colored bowls, where scratching would be more evident. I suspect that the rather remarkable ability of this pumice stick product to remove that ugly stain is producing minor, mostly microscopic, surface damage to the interior of the bowl each time that it is used. Whether this makes any difference is open to question. If you replace your bowl every ten or twenty years, or if you live in a rented property, then go ahead and use it with vigor. If you expect the bowl to remain like new for the life of the house, you''re probably going to start to notice the scratching and it will probably give the porcelain a dull non-glazed finish. It won''t hurt the function of the bowl in any way, I should add. So what should one do? Well, I''m going to use the Pumie sparingly in that I won''t be around long enough to view the damage and even if I am, a toilet bowl isn''t all that expensive or difficult to replace. For most people, I would suggest cleaning the bowl first with a conventional bowl cleaner (The Works is suggested) and then, if any remnants of an ugly ring persist, go to the Pumie. I think you''ll be surprised at how easy it is.

Gary Peterson

Pumice stones are excellent for removing rust stains and hard water deposits on variety of surfaces including toilets, bathtubs and sinks. They are even good to remove callouses on your feet. This product works as advertised and works very well. However you can save a lot if you buy the regular pumice stone from same company at less than half the price, and here on Amazon and Prime eligible.

U. S. Pumice HDW-12 Pumie Scouring Stick

Unless you are squeamish about getting your hand in the toilet bowl it works just as well, better maybe as you can control the stone better without the handle and can use full stone not just part down to where handle insert goes into the stone. You are going to put your hand in toilet bowl anyway even with the handle, why not save several dollars?

When I purchased my home two years ago, my toilet had a ring. I have tried various products in a effort to remove the ring. Eventually, my best friend told me that I would probably have to replace the toilet because it would be impossible to remove the ring. One day I decided to google my problem. I came up with several links that suggested the Pumie. I read the reviews on Pumie (which were great, btw). I decided to order the product. After about 30 minutes of wiping the ring, my toilet was as good as new!!!

This was recommended by a friend who had a housecleaning business. amazing. For 5+ years now one of my toilets had plagued me w/horrible limescale. I tried EVERYTHING (including the brand name limescale/ring removers) to clean that thing. This is the ONLY thing that worked and I am fanatical about the cleanliness of my bathrooms. Well, kind of.

We have hard water so that is why. If you have hard water or rings or stains, get this. It is like the magic eraser for toilets, I swear.

BISSELL Steam & Sweep Hard Floor Cleaner Save 48% Off

BISSELL Steam & Sweep Hard Floor Cleaner, 46B4I have been researching mops, steam mops, wood floor sweepers, etc. for about two months. I have read every pro and con of pretty much everything out there. I have a ton of wood floor and tile in my house and I absolutely cannot stand to clean it. I hate sweeping the wood floor, I hate the debris that flies in the air, I hate bending over with the dust pan, I hate the sticky feeling my swiffer leaves behind, I just overall have hated my floors for 5 years because they never ever feel clean. I had a friend sing the praises of the Shark steam mop the other day, so I finally decided to break down and buy SOMETHING. I didn''t even care if it did an excellent job, I just wanted something. Butmy one qualification was that it be a combo steamer and sweeper. I just had to solve the sweeping issue at the same time. Which leaves you with pretty much the Bissell or the Shark. I looked at the Shark at Wal-mart and the bottom of it made me laugh. The vacuum hole is like 3 inches wide and has no brush or anything. I was not impressed with that. So I went to Target and picked up the Bissell. And now I want to marry it and become Mrs. Bissell because it is so fantastic. A few things about this machine you might want to know: It has an awesome, LONG strong cord. It has a really cool "dyson-like" ball joint that makes it super easy to manuever. The steam works great, the water tank looks tiny, but it lasts a really long time, it comes with two pads that are thick and strong, it lays completely flat when going under furniture, it fits under the counters in the kitchen, it doesn''t leave very much water on the floor (I read other complaints of other manchines that leave a ton of water), it dries really fast, it heats up and is ready in 15 seconds or less, it has a clear compartment on top so you can see what debris it is picking up. One caveatthe suction is not super strong, but then again I like my vacuums to sound like a jet engine and suck my skin off if they had the chance, so maybe I am picky. But the brush feature does pick up a lot of stuff. And having the cleaning pad right behind it helps to trap stuff too. So for instance it picked up small leaves, not a band-aid wrapper. It picked up cracker crumbs and bugs, but not a tag to a shirt. The machine is meant to be used with the vacuum and the steamer going simultaneously to save time, however, I like to use just the vacuum and dry cloth to dust mop/vacuum my floors and then activate the steam and do it seperately. But I did use it together and it did okay. Another nice feature is that it is a light and easy machine so you really enjoy using it and don''t feel like you are lugging out a Volkswagen to do your chores. I have had it two days and I have been using the vacuum constantly. I love that thing! And once you do an initial cleanthe follow-up cleanings are a snap! I finally feel like my floors are clean. It has changed my whole feeling about my house. As far as anything I don''t like, you do have to squeeze a trigger for when you want steam and if you are steaming your whole floor then your finger hurts by the end and that is a little annoying. It does also take some upmh! to push it when you are steam cleaning at first. I am sure it gets easier as the floor is cleaner :) Anyway, this machine is one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. I highly recommend it!

I bought a steamer about a year ago for our old house which had tons of tile. I bought the Eureka Enviro and, while I really liked it, it wasn''t quite what I needed for the new house we just moved into. My kitchen here is a very high traffic area and has two doors in it...one to the garage, one to the back porch. This produces lots of dirt/sand, leaves, and whatever else to collect on the floor. I have a shark sweeper that I use to pick up dirt, then my Swiffer to clean the floors (which still manage to feel dirty afterwards).

Well, I recently saw the commercial for this product and when I saw it was a sweeper AND a steamer, I knew I needed to own it. I went to Target that very day and bought one. Now, after using it a bunch of times, I must say I absolutely love this little guy. It''s so small and light, and it does a GREAT job steaming the floors. Scuff marks that have been there since we moved in were gone in just a couple passes.

So...why 4 stars you ask? Well, the are only two small issues I have with this which is keeping me from giving 5 stars. They''re not a huge deal to me, but they may be to someone else. The main problem I have is that you have to hold the trigger down the entire time your steaming. I read this in the previous review and thought ''Awwww, that''s no so bad. How hard can it be?''...yeeeeah, it really does start to get a bit bothersome by the end of cleaning. That little trigger is kind of tough to keep held in, especially if you''re cleaning a large area!

The second issue is...once you start steaming, even if you let go of the trigger to stop the steam, the pad is still wet (obviously), which means if you run it backward (pulling the machine towards you) over a dry section of floor that hasn''t yet been vacuumed, then the dirt will just stick to the floor or get pushed around instead of getting sucked up into the sweeper cause it''s now wet...make sense? So, that said, I recommend using the sweeper setting FIRST on the entire area you wish to clean, THEN go ahead and steam it.

Overall though, this is a GREAT steam/sweeper for the price (which happens to be cheaper at both Walmart and Target). I still use my shark sweeper everyday for quick cleanups, but I am so glad that when I do go to steam my floors, I have the vacuum option up front to pick up little bits of dirt before I start steaming. OH...and do NOT be fooled by the small little water tank that''s on this thing, it actually steams quite a large area. I filled it up and steamed my whole kitchen, dinning room, and foyer...only used HALF the water in the tank! So that''s not an issue at all. Anyway, I absolutely recommend this if you''re interested and it''s definitely been a fabulous addition to my cleaning arsenal!

I have 2 dogs and lots of hard surface flooring through the house. Wanting to slim down the floor care routine to one-step, I thought this product (along with several of it''s favorable reviews) seemed too good to be true. In practical application, this product takes the two tasks of vacuuming and mopping and does each poorly leaving me with a 3-step process. Yes, that''s an extra step! First, the vacuum feature is terrible. It does not have a very powerful suction and does NOT get all or even most of the dog hair/dust/dander. Second, because the vacuum head is in front of the steam pad, when using the steam feature, there is a 2-3" "bumper" that prevents one from steaming all the way to the baseboards or under the cabinets, etc, etc. (The third step is then going back to these places with a sponge or another mop to clean.)

Last, the dog hair that is picked up in the vacuum is difficult to empty as it is now moist from the steam feature and sticks to the inside! YUCK!

I returned this product and purchased the Bissell Steam and Mop Deluxe and am much happier with the outcome. I will stick to using my Swiffer Rechargeable Vacuum as the first step (LOVE this with my dogs!!) and mop after.

I wanted a hardfloor cleaning unit that vacuumed and steam cleaned, mostly for my kitchen. It was between this one or the "Shark Vac then Steam" unit (notice it is Vac THEN Steam--not Vac AND Steam); The Shark allowed only the vac OR the continuous steam to be used one at a time, I didn''t like that. The Bissell allows me to vacuum some debris on my kitchen floor but if I see something stuck on the floor as I''m vacuuming, I can pull the trigger for a quick burst of hot steam when I need it on the spot, literally and figuratively, to clean it off with steam--and then continue dry sweeping only if I choose. (The brushes continue spinning for the vac even if I push the trigger for the steam, so I don''t skip a beat. This ''perk'' may sound minor until you''re in the process of cleaning). Yet, if I do want to sweep and vacuum simultaneously, I can do that too. Some complain that the trigger hurts your finger, but that would be only if you are doing a very large area or do all your floors at one time perhaps. My LR and DR floors and hall are covered in many areas with rugs, so the exposed flooring isn''t monumental even if I did get ambitious and decide to do all my floors at once. Therefore, the trigger isn''t going to kill my finger. One other thing--I understand that the Shark water reservoir cannot be brought to sink for filling--you have to use a funnel and bring the water to the unit...I don''t like that at all. So in short, with this unit, you can do both sweeping and steaming in one pass in half the time, OR do one task, one at a time; but with the Shark, you can ONLY do one at a time...to me that was a big disadvantage. I use the vac more often than the steam b/c the kitchen floor always catches debris daily. If however you want a thorough steaming daily b/c of crawling babies on the floor, you may want a DEDICATED steamer only--they give off hotter steam and sanitize instantaneously. Dual units (like Shark and this one) take 15 secs on one spot to sanitize; read the fine print carefully if sanitizing is your main objective!. This one vacuums really well, I have heard many complaints on the shark that the steam is ok but the suction is bad for sweeping. I like this unit very much for my overall needs. The only thing that would improve it is, even tho'' the cord is ample, it would be easier to use w/o a cord--when they invent that, I''ll be first on line.

I love this machine! It is so worth it! We just moved recently and we have sealed hardwood floors on the whole main level of our house so it has been a challenge to try to keep clean with my 21 month old running around and throwing food! My swiffer wasn''t keeping the floors clean enough (and I am not a "neat freak" but just like decently clean floors)so I went looking for something better to clean the floors with and after much research I found this one. It is hard to find this product online or in the stores as it is so popular. It is easy to manueuver, lightweight as I am petite and easy to pull out for a quick clean up after meals. I like that it is chemical free and it is uses only tap water. However, I do use distilled water with it and it seems to work just fine. It really doesn''t use that much water to clean/steam. I like that it also can sweep or steam seperately or at the same time.

Espressione Café Minuetto Professional Thermoblock Espresso Machine Save 63% Off

Espressione Café Minuetto Professional Thermoblock Espresso Machine, SilverJust purchased this unit, (actually the 1334 not the 1334/1, the only difference is less stainless steel exterior). I read hundreds of reviews on all kinds of models and spent way to much time going to the stores here in Florence, Italy looking and comparing and talking to the sales reps. Like most items if you get a bad one you hate it and if you get a good one it is the best there is! So many units are plastic and so light weight that they really scared me. Even the old names out there seem to have models that look and feel cheap and you wonder how long they will last? I narrowed it down to the Ariete Minuetto, Gaggia Evolution and the DeLonghi EC 310 models. I was on a tight budget so that made things a little difficult to sort out as well. The DeLonghi had lots of reviews and the highest user satisfaction rating but two things turned me away, 50 euros higher in cost and it felt light and seemed kind of cheap. The Gaggia was pretty plastic and light as well and was supposed to have good inner working parts but the reviews were a 50/50 thing for the most part with not good ratings on after the sale service. The Minuetto had only 2 or 3 user ratings on it that I could find and they were 50/50 as well but the negative one seemed more like user error to me than the brands problem. So after a lot of scrutiny I decided on the Minuetto at a cost of 99 euro. I looked at the Minuetto pro with all the stainless on it but decided that another 35 euro was not worth just the look of more stainless steel.

The unit was very well packaged and there was no damage of any kind to the exterior of the unit and the fit and finish was excellent. The unit feels very solid and has a good weight to it like something that is made to last for a while. Not bright and flashy in appearance but just simple and very professional looking with stainless steel parts and brushed chrome and the darker areas are a dark gray color. The foamer wand is stainless steel and not plastic like so many I looked at and feels solid when I turn it and not wobbly like it is going to fall off at any moment. The drip tray grate is stainless steel as well. The drip tray is easily removed for cleaning and even has a float gauge to tell you if it gets full of water. The top has a stainless steel plate over the cup warming area but like so many I don''t think it will get warm enough to want to use it for cup warming. The plate is removable for cleaning so that makes cleaning the top of the unit very easy. The water tank is on the back side and is clear so you can see the water level with ease and it hold a very good amount of water so you won''t be filling it each time you use it. The tank is also very easy to remove and the top of it also is used as a handle to lift the tank from it''s position on the unit.

The filters it comes with are, one for using pods and one for a one cup espresso using ground coffee and one for a two cup shot using ground coffee. The filter wand and housing are solid but the handle might feel slightly light weight. Time will tell how it hold up. There are two indicator lights on the front, one for power being on and the other letting you know it is up to the right heat level to use. Their is a rocker power switch on the back left side of the unit. The main control knob on the front is chrome plastic but feels very solid and turning it to the left produces steam for the wand and to the right for pouring the espresso and in the center for standby mode. User manual is shown in several languages and is clear and easy to read. Not hugely in depth but adequate for the most part. There is also a service center brochure supplied.

A short word about service. I had one very simple question that I emailed the Ariete customer service center about and within 4 hours I had a return email with a very clear answer. If that is typical of their response I give them high points for taking care of their customers.

I followed the instructions for preparing the unit for use. Some talk about noise of espresso machines. What came from this unit was nothing alarming at all. You of course heard the pump running but what do you expect? The unit heated up quickly after priming the pump etc and ran hot water through the filter well and also steam through the wand very well. No leaks of any kind, no water spraying where it should not etc. but just worked like it was supposed to work. I filled the two cup filter with ground espresso coffee with the supplied measuring spoon and tamped it with the other end which is a tamper. Not heavy duty but it did do the job. Positioned the filter and snugged it into place. Allowed it a couple of minutes to warm up and then turned it to the espresso switch side. In a couple of seconds great looking espresso began to flow with a great creama effect on the top. I then ran the steam wand in a glass for a few seconds to allow it to warm and produce good steam and then with a cold cup of milk in a stainless cup began to produce great looking frothy milk. Espresso and milk were nice and hot and looked great. Taste was not perfect but that was because I used a cheap espresso brand to begin with to get the hang of things.

So in summery this unit did all that it was supposed to do the first time out. Looks good, feels good and is very easy to use. My first impressions are 5 stars! If you are looking for a well made and put together easy to use espresso machine take a look at this one. It is worth the look and I think you will be impressed especially if you compare it to others in the same and even slightly higher price range.

I purchased this espresso machine in Nov ''11 as a birthday gift for my husband. Since then it has been used minimum twice a day. it makes excellent coffee, espresso, and latte''s... perfect temperature, perfect rich taste. IT is very easy to use, and clean... it takes very little for the water temperature to warm up, and it makes little noise. Granted the knob did come off a month ago, but unlike the previews reviewer, we are a little more handy and figured out it only needed two screws to fix, now it will never come off. it is incredibly sleek, and professional looking, takes little space, and still have not tasted better drinks on any other machine or shop. We''ve saved soooo much money and gas! :)

Okay, seriously this lil machine (not a lightweight one either) really puts out a fast and furious brewed espresso! I LOVE it! super fast, super easy to use. I honestly have no complaints about it. I am such a "detail" person who does all my legwork before I purchase and I scored with this one! The "knob" is fine, IF it does fall off like others have claimed, it would be such an easy quick fix. Don''t NOT buy it because of this. Really it''s a strong knob. I place my muffins on the warmer on top occasionally...so nice! The first time I used it I packed the espresso grounds too tight, ya barely need to press them down. The key to a good perfect flow is packing them just lightly, otherwise it will clog the holes and cause it to not flow smoothly. You will get a nice lil foamy topping automatically on the espresso, just like a quality coffee house. Finally a machine that DOES what it says. Be blown away, get one!

p.s.....add a lil brown sugar to bottom of cup before dispensing....ooooh la la!

After owning this machine for less than six months the coffee or steam dispensing knob sheared off. A lot of stress is placed on this knob every time you make coffee or steam milk. There are only two small bolts holding this knob on. The drip tray finish was blistered when we received the coffee maker and was replaced by the service department on our first call. We had to mail the machine, postage pre-paid, to the service department to repair the broken knob. After a few weeks of not hearing from the service department, we contacted them by telephone regarding the repair. We were advised that it would take another week or so before they got to it. (Not very satisfactory) We finally received a call back from the service department advising us that the coffee maker was repaired and that we would have to pay the return postage. We were not too pleased. We received the coffee maker, the knob being fixed and with the face of the maker severely scratched. We e-mailed the company regarding the return postage having to be paid and are still waiting for an answer. Not great customer service. We will not recommend this brand to anyone.

I was very surprised not to find this on GE''s website. I ordered it through Amazon and it shipped fast. I had it a few days later. Will definitely use them again for this product.

These GE refrigerator filters are hard to find in the stores-even appliance stores have to order them so it was good to find them online and good that they come in a two pack so I have one extra and then can order again. They are expensive I feel so that is why I did not give them the top rating. Hard to imagine they cost so much to make.

Very useful for my fridge.. Loved the fast shipping.. It came out a lot cheaper than other prices I had checked out! Thanks :)

This was a good deal compared to all others I shopped around for. My only beef is that the fresh packs came with the holder which I didn''t need because they are already in the fridge. I consider it a waste and it defeats the purpose of recycling.

KRUPS XP1500 Coffee Maker and Espresso Machine Combination Save 50% Off

KRUPS XP1500 Coffee Maker and Espresso Machine Combination, BlackI am a self-confessed coffee junkie. With or w/o the caffeine (pregnancy and such) I love the taste; and the taste of the coffee that I''ve brewed with this machine was great. Loved it, loved it, loved it. The machine was easy to use and looked pretty darn cool sitting there on my counter. The only issue that i have is that the espresso side seems to need some encouragement. The knobs need to be fiddled with a bit in order to get the espresso to start dripping (even after 10 minutes during a holiday party full of thirsty coffee drinkers). Thought that was just b/c my machine was so new, but it''s been doing that ever since the first use. Still, it''s not terribly difficult, and the coffee is oh-so-yummy!

If you want to make espresso like you''ll pay $2.00/shot at a coffee house, this machine isn''t for you. If you want a coffee pot/espresso combo in the $100 range, you will get the best value with this combo. I can make a very good latte with it, and a fairly decent shot of espresso -and very good coffee. The negative reviews I''ve read seem to be from two types: 1) Those who really need to spend more to get a beautiful golden crema-topped shot of espresso. I understand, but it can''t be had for this price. 2) Those who don''t know how to use it properly.

For a latte, you''ll need to have finely ground espresso, a stainless steel frothing pitcher, and cold milk (2% or non-fat work best). Remove the rubber end to the frothing nozzle -I never use it, and that may be one of the problems other reviewers have. Follow the instructions in the manual to fill your water reservoir and your espresso filter. Fill your frothing pitcher no more than halfway with milk. Turn the dial on the left to the "cup" setting, and as soon as your first drop of espresso falls, switch the dial to the frothing setting, and start frothing your milk. Keep the nozzle low in the pitcher, just heating -not frothing. Hold the pitcher in your hand and keep heating the milk until the pitcher is just about too hot to hold -(or you could buy a thermometer, but this works just as well, and for the price-conscious does the trick), then move the pitcher lower, letting the nozzle just skimming along the top of the milk. This will start your foam growing, and it will not take long before your pitcher is about to overflow. At that point, switch the dial back to the "cup" setting, and your espresso shot will fall. When all is done, pour your shot of espresso in a cup, add the milk, top with the foam, and add a little cocoa powder or cinnamon or your choice -and maybe even a drop or two of vanilla extract. You''re good to go. A delicious latte, at an extremely low price.

(I explained the above because the instructions in the manual are not that good, and I don''t have the time to build a how-to video. I hope it was helpful.)

We love this machine. We have limited space and need to have both a coffee maker and a cappucino maker in that space. We have had none of the difficulties that others mention. But we did take the black plastic sleeve off of the frother and that has made a huge difference. With it on we got bubbles. Now we get great froth. And if we pack the espresso well we get an excellent crema. It is a $100 machine that makes both coffee and espresso. It is not going to be like a $1000 Starbucks machine. We set our expectations appropriately and were delighted.

My wife doesn''t drink coffee, so it is appropriate to say "I" received the XP1500 as a wedding gift. Like others, the SECOND TIME I made espresso, the handle cracked on the espresso grounds holder from the normal pressure of turning it into place. Customer service assured me that they could do nothing unless I had the receipt. This was two years ago, and the machine was a brand new item, so there should have been no question to the age of the machine for warranty purposes, but I had no receipt since it was a wedding gift. They wouldn''t even pay the shipping for a new holder. In short, they wouldn''t budge, and if I wanted a new grounds holder, I would have to pay full cost to do so. So I kept it, being very careful over the last couple of years to not turn it too hard. Today, it broke further, rendering it useless. To be fair, I have tried to make espresso and cappucino many times, but I have never been able to get a truly good cup from this machine.

Other problems: the frother is too low. You need to angle the milk cup too much to be useful. A half cup of cold milk will turn into a counter full of frothed milk when it''s done.

You''re better off researching all products and choosing one that is made with better materials, has better reveiws for the quality of the resultant coffee, and going with a company that has BETTER CUSTOMER SUPPORT. There''s a reason that "customers who purchased this product also purchased..." "...REPLACEMENT ITEMS!!!"

We replaced a Krup coffee/espresso combo which we purchased about 12 years ago. What a wonderful machine! Unfortunately, this model was no longer available. The model #985 was the recommended replacement. However, it doesn''t even come close.

1) The basket for the coffee filter is too small in diameter for the filter, causeing grounds to fall into the brew. The basket also leaks, giving you a countertop lake to start your morning.

2) The espresso is okay provided you don''t want a cappuccino. The froth attachment is so low and it is difficult to get the milk pitcher under the spigot. The milk froths very quickly, and your container is overflowing with foam while the milk is still cold. It''s okay only if you froth enough milk for 1, maybe 2 shots, but if you need milk for the full pot (4 shots), you''ll need to froth milk one-half at a time.

The pot is will soon be available for sale at our local Goodwill.

We have had the Tap Master ULTRA System for a few years and we just love our water.

It''s the best water I''ve ever had in my life -

including 10,000 feet up in a Sierra stream 30+ years ago

and costly water which we had shipped in from Arkansas.

The unit takes up very little room under our kitchen sink.

We save space by no longer storing bottles and we no longer have to change water bottles.

My husband handled the installation himself and he''s about a 3 on a 10 pt. ''handy scale''.

There is nothing we would change about our unit or with the firm itself.

We have found the firm to be honest and helpful.

We once placed an incorrect order and they called and told us we didn''t need all we had ordered.

I had this unit installed under my kitchen sink. It connects to a separate faucet in my sink and also connects to my refrigerator''s water supply. Before I got the unit, I had a simple carbon filter that really only took the chlorine out of the water. It did the job but I noticed a bigger difference when I installed this new unit. My water now is totally odorless, colorless, and tasteless, the way drinking water should be. It beats the taste of many well-known bottled waters.

My wife has totally given up buying water at the supermarket as a result. Wow, what a savings!

I read a lot of reviews about installation before buying; I''m handy w/ tools but not a pro. Installation went very smooth. I observed one leak in the small cylinder w/ black tubing in the front of the unit. The leak was 1 drop/ 5-7 minutes. I pulled out the tube, cut 1/8 of the end and re-insert; it seemed the same, but after 2-3 hours it disappeared. No leaks since then.

Just redid my kitchen and put this unit in..I also tested the water after I installed it. Wont ever have to buy bottled water again.

Used the video they have as well to help with the installation. It was easy to install... Water tasted great...no after taste. These guys know what they are doing...You wont go wrong!!!! Purchased on Amazon... of course flawless delivery.

I had the GE Merlin system ($800) which worked very well for about 1 year. After $200 in new filters and lots of hours of attempted repairs, I bought the Tap Master Ultra for about $500. I was concerned that the supply line was only 1/4" vs. the 1/2" on the Merlin. With the storage tank, the permeate pressure at the sink and even out of the refridgerator is awesome. It works well for my home needs.

The TDS for my house is about 440; the Merlin got it down to about 320; the TM Ultra took it to 24.

Let''s see how it is working in a year from now.

Kaz Health Mist Quiet Operation Cool Mist Humidifier

Kaz Health Mist Quiet Operation Cool Mist Humidifier, 4100I buy these humidifiers because they are easy to clean & maintain, and they broadcast a nice mist.

There are no gooey-feeling in-the-water-filters to clean or replace. There is one little filter that cleans the air before it enters into the humidifier, but other than that there is none. It doesn''t touch the water.

I have used these humidifiers to put in about 3 drops of essential oil to broadcast through my home daily. They work wonderfully. They are much cheaper than the expensive machines made for essential oils & I think they do a better job.

I have been using these humidifiers for years. I hope they don''t stop making them!

By error, I received Kaz 4100 instead of Kaz4100K. The earlier model that I received lacked on and off switch, adjustable grill and two speeds. Nevertheless, I love the simplicity of this humidifier: filling machine from top without having to remove a tank, very very quiet and complete instructions such as "break in characteristics, maximum output will not be reached until unit has been used several times." Thnk you, Kaz!

My 15 month old daughter has a lot of sinus issues, so it''s imperative that we run a humidifier in her room every night. The first humidifier I bought for her was the Kaz/Vicks 4100 impeller humidifier, and while I''ll admit that it puts out a lot of mist and humidifies the room very well, it''s nearly impossible to clean fully.

My biggest complaint is that a lot of the spinning and moving parts are encased in a plastic housing that you can''t get into, and when I finally unscrewed the housing, the inside was caked in pink mold. Now, when I say I "unscrewed" the housing, I don''t mean with a normal screwdriver. The screws are a special shape to keep people from being able to unscrew them and open the housing. Luckily, I had the appropriate screw tip in my toolbox, but when I opened up the housing, I was horrified by what I saw. This product is designed in such a way as to limit your ability to access and clean the most vital moving parts, so it is effectively a mold growing and mold spewing machine.

The mist output is great, but if the mist is spraying mold spores into your child''s room, I''m thinking that''s probably not a good thing. Ya think?

P.S. Consumer Reports rated the Safety 1st Ultrasonic 360 Degree Humidifier as one of their "Best Buys," and boy did they hit the nail on the head. I just bought one, and couldn''t be happier with my choice. It costs $30, doesn''t use filters, it''s easy to clean, and the mist output is perfect. Having "been there" and "done that" with all these humidifiers, I can safely say that I''m finally satisfied with my purchase. Save your money on this one, and go buy the Safety 1st instead.

I love this humidifier. It is very simple to use and I like the fact that there''s an air purifier in it also.

I have a two year old and a six month old that share a room, and both are congested with dry noses. This product is great for their room-it''s whisper quiet (I would not put anything in their room that would chance waking them up-I like my sleep too!)and simple to use, no buttons, difficult filters. If I need to, I can sneak into their room and add water without having to take anything apart that might wake them. Just an easy, reliable product. I''ve had it for over a year now and is still as great as the day I bought it. I do clean and replace water daily, so that might be contributing to it''s maintinence. To the lady with the black slimy water: Ewww! A filter isn''t a magic wand, you have to do some manual upkeep yourself!

Gaggia 90901 Platinum Swing Up Automatic Espresso Machine Save 19% Off

Gaggia 90901 Platinum Swing Up Automatic Espresso Machine with Milk IslandPurchased from Whole Latte Love / IMPORTIKA in March 2009 STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY

After about 5 months of usage the machine started leaking water from underneath. I called in for warranty service and was advised to drop off the machine to my local authorized repair center. The repair center has replaced parts and charged $100.00 stating this is not warranty covered. They have never informed me until after the fact. Apart from that, they also damaged front panel, all scratched up and said that I did it during time I was using it. I contacted Whole Latte Love and GAGGIA distributor IMPORTIKA. Importika denied warranty, said it was normal for any superautomatic machine to leak water after few months part of wear and tear. I was also told that it might have been due to me incorrectly attaching milk island. I don''t own or ever used milk island. Tech could not believe when I told him that.

Importika/Whole Latte Love initially said they would look into the matter and never did anything, never contacted me back.

-The machine makes good espresso. Steamer is rather weak and the frothing attachment is horrible. If you are serious coffee drinker, like lattes, know anything about microfoam and would like to make it with this machine''s steaming ability FORGET IT (no, it''s not that I don''t know how). You can make hot milk with some foam on the top.

-Coffee beans container is not air tight around the inlet for ground coffee, as a result air gets it and contributes to coffee getting stale if left for longer period.

-Click wheel works good.

-Constantly need to refill water container, empty drip tray

-Only 10.5 g max ground coffee per cup. Perfect shot has 7 g. So not even close to make 2 shots once, unless you hit button twice to make 2 separate shots.

WARNING: I would strong avoid buying any espresso machine (or anything for that matter) from Whole Latte Love or Importika (pretty much same company). Do your own research. Very deceptive business practices. They would not even post my review. Ordinary review, nothing inappropriate or anything like that. Also, Whole Latte Love advertised full warranty (not limited) but would not honor the agreement.

Well we tried the Gaggia Titanium and we did not like it at all (too loud, too big, odd settings).. This one, the gaggia Swing up is PERFECT! We can do Ristretto (tiny concentrated espresso). Noise level is very good. and the machine is too big at all! The only small minus is that the water tank coud have been a bit bigger but it would mean a bulkier machine (can''t have it all). Access to the tank and the coffee dumps is very easy (much easier than the titanium model). I highly recommend it! oh I almost forgot the milk island attachment is SO good too! THe milk is froth to perfection, easy to do a creamy hot chocolate with it in less than a minute!

After using a semi-automatic espresso maker for a few years with ok but inconsistent results, I put it away in the garage and started just going to the local coffee shop for my latte fix. Recently, I decided to try a super-automatic espresso maker for the quality and convenience. I read a lot of reviews, and thought about different manufacturers and models, including Jura Capresso, but eventually I decided on this Gaggia after watching videos of it in action on another website (Wholelattelove).

The machine was easy to set up and I was making espresso in no time. Ater using the Gaggia Swing Up for a few weeks all I can say is WOW. This is one product that lives up to its billing. No buyer''s remorse on my part.

There are a lot of really good features on this model but the most important thing to me is the quality of the espresso. I''m not exaggerating when I say it makes absolutely perfect, beautiful espresso every time. I''ve used Lavazza Super Crema, Lavazza Qualita Oro, and Illy espresso beans so far and all have made great espresso with gorgeous crema. This machine also makes a great long coffee for the travel mug.

The steam wand is easy to use with a frothing pitcher and thermometer because the wand swivels, making it easy to get the pitcher out from under it. I liked the milk island at first but cleaning it is a little tedious and it started to leak after I mistakenly put the pitcher on the stand without the plastic housing. Oops, my fault. So now I just use the steam wand exclusively and I''m still completely happy.

The menu is fairly intuitive and it is programmable if you choose. I also like the ipod-like wheel but the next model up, the Platinum Vision, has a touch screen which some people might like better. Another thing I like is that the machine swivels making it easy to put in the beans even though I have the machine on a counter with a cabinet above it -this swivel feature does not make the machine unsteady or wobbly at all. So far, cleaning has been easy and the machine tells you when it is time to empty the grounds drawer and put in water. One other feature worth mentioning is the tray which lifts and lowers electronically -at first I didn''t think I would use this much but it is nice to be able to raise the tray closer to the espresso dispenser when using espresso cups and lower it when using a mug.

Yes, it is a lot of money to spend on an appliance but I''ve already saved money by not going to my local coffee shop a few times a week so I figure I''ll eventually get a good chunk of my investment back. Now if I could just stop drinking more than one latte per day...

From a Mechanical Engineer who bought one:

I bought one without being able to see it first. First mistake, gearing, grinder and all machine parts are plastic. So, they wear with little usage and then screw-up. If I was able to see one, I would have never bought it. I looked at other design features and they too were poorly designed like the chutes the grinds have travel thru. You don''t want to buy GAGGIA! Get yourself a simpler machine that works manually.

In not quite 2 years, I have had 3 major breakdowns to the grinder, pump and dispensing solenoid. Each time you must pay for your own shipping, at least $50 each way, warrenty or not. I guarrantee if you buy this machine, you will have to have periodic major repair work that is expensive.

Want Gaggia 90901 Platinum Swing Up Automatic Espresso Machine Discount?

I''ve had my Gaggie Platinum Swing for around two years now. When it works well, it''s great. But it is very finicky as to coffee beans and often will grind a brew''s worth and then throw it out, unbrewed, saying Fill Container With Coffee. The machine is clean and there''s lots of coffee beans in it.

This happens less with Lavazza beans, but even with them. Support claims the beans are "oily", but the real problem seems to be the design.

Avoid this machine unless you''re willing to fiddle with the machine a lot and waste 1/3 of your coffee beans.

This is my third Gaggia/Saeco super-automatic. Next time I''m switching to a different brand that doesn''t suffer this problem!
