Thermos Funtainer Bottle, Spiderman

Thermos Funtainer Bottle, Hello KittyWhen I was shopping for my son to start preschool, I was thrilled to find these thermos bottles. He will only drink ice water, so I thought the straw design was wonderful for him. We wanted to be kind to the environment by NOT sending a plastic bottle every day. When the Thermos cups work properly, the cups do keep the ice water cold all day long, and the straw design is okay. Plus, they do give you an extra straw when you purchase it. I thought it was the perfect cup...

HOWEVER, I am so frustrated with the Thermos lid design that I could scream!!! These cups, by the cute character designs, are geared towards younger children. My son dropped this cup once, and the lid broke. When the lid breaks, the cup is no longer spill-proof, and it cannot be used in a lunch box again (water leaked everywhere). These cups are very expensive--around $15 each. I bought him one replacement cup, and he had it for about 3 weeks before he dropped that one, and the lid broke on that one also. I cannot find any place to purchase replacement lids. And I am never going to buy another one of these cups until they change the design of the lid--or make them easier for young children with small hands to carry by adding a handle or something.

If you are lucky enough to never drop this cup, then it''s great! If you ever drop it on a hard surface, then it''s terrible.

UPDATE: I did contact the THERMOS customer care line 1-800-831-9242, and I was able to order replacement lids for the thermos cups. They only cost $2 per lid and were shipped quickly with replacement straws as well. Since you can order replacement lids, I would update my review back to 3 stars.

I bought this water bottle for my daughter and she loved it. It looks nice and pretty. The insulated stainless steel does not leak any chemicals and the plastic parts are all PBA free. The only thing I don''t like is that hinge of the plastic cap is easy to be broken. Both ours and my friends'' are broken after the bottles were dropped to the ground. So we ordered the caps from Thermos customer service again. I think it cost about $3 for each cap, not too bad.

We purchased this Thermos (with the Hello Kitty design from Target) over 1½ years ago. It has held up through almost daily use. It is one of the best kids drink holders I''ve ever had. We actually have two, one blue one pink.

They each came with an extra straw set but my originals are still going strong.

I can put ice water in it in the morning and send my daughter to camp (outside, no refrigerator) and when she gets home late afternoon, there is still ice in it.

We use them for lunches, travel and daily household use.

Milk stays cold for up to 12 hours (although we don''t usually let milk stay out that long).

It has been tossed around (not dropped from any great height) and has rolled around the mini van and the only wear it shows is with the imprint on the outside.

We do not wash it in the dishwasher although I think you can and I take the straw apart each time I wash it it is a two piece part.

Since we put milk in it, I often clean the straw out with a pipe cleaner so that any residual milk is removed. I use a knife point to go around the inside of the straw connecting point because this can sometimes build up some milk stuff.

It sounds like a lot but it takes less than a minute to wash and I feel like it is clean when we are done.

It reassembles so easily. I''ve had straw cups that have to be carefully threaded and pushed. This just pops in.

A little pricey for a drinking cup but well worth every penny.

UPDATE 9/3/2010

I just purchased another Funtainer (from Amazon) so that we had one at school with cold water and one at home. Coincidentally, my daughter dropped our old one at school and the top broke. It has been dropped many times in the past and it is almost two years old so I feel like it held up well. In defense of the product, she dropped it on a hard floor.

I did want to point out that the one we just received from our Amazon order did not have an extra straw set but seems to be constructed like our older one.

We have had two of this bottles for about 2 years now. Both are THERMOS brand but they are different designs. One is a Funtainer and came on its own (bought it in-store at Target), the Hello Kitty design. The lid and straw part has held up well, but the bottom part (plastic) shattered during the first week of use (what kind of kid does NOT drop things!) and has been superglued, taped etc many times.

The second one is a FooGo and came in rigid plastic wrapping, also bought at Target. This one does not have the issue of the Funtainer with the fragile bottom, but instead, the straw has been split in half for a while now. What is worse is that the straw insert is not made of 2 but 3 pieces, an absolutely bad design because you have to take all the pieces apart to wash and then put them togheter for use again, if you dont take all the pieces apart, you risk having soap in betweek the 2 big pieces or water that will never dry up because is caught in between the 2 tight surfaces.

If Thermos could only combine the 2 designs and make one with a good 2 piece-only straw and a more flexible plastic bottom then it would justify to pay $20 for a water bottle. Until then I will keep shopping for something that makes for sense and is durable as well.

On the good side, both bottle keep water very cold (I add ice in the morning before school) for several hours and we have not had any leaking issues when the lids are closed. It is easy to close the lids properly compared to other Contigo bottles (bpa free plastic) that I bought at Costco and are a leaking nightmare if not perfectly aligned and closed properly.

I purchased three Barbie Funtainer Thermos'' with straws. I saw the Thermos version on Amazon and was looking for something close. The Barbie and Hello Kitty ones were super cute so I bought one for each kid. At first I was really impressed! I put two ice cubes in and the thermos'' stayed freezing cold all day long outside of the fridge, even when I left them in a 100 degree car while we all went shopping, at the end of the day the ice was still intact. Nothing seemed to leak or sweat or anything. About a week later my youngest left hers with the lid up and it fell over on my couch. A second later there was a big pool of water on my couch! "No leak" apparently doesn''t apply when the lid is up. There is a small air hole next to the straw that caused all of that water to be able to get out. I turned the thermos over just to see how fast it would drip... don''t do that... when turned completely upside-down the water poured out of the straw like a little hose, and all over my floor. Luckily it was just water because if it had been fruit juice I would have been in trouble. The other main fault for me is an even bigger one. The taste! I hadn''t ever actually taken a drink out of these thermos''. When I did I was shocked at how bad it tasted. The rubber straw made the water taste like I was drinking out of a tire! Seriously, drinking from a garden hose has less of a rubber taste. I then unscrewed the top and took a sip from the thermos, but the straw had soaked in the water in the thermos and it all tasted like rubber. I tried the other two thermos straws as well and they all taste equally as bad. My kids don''t seem to notice, but I do wonder about safety with a thing like this. All in all I think they should remove "no spill" from the description and fix the straw. My kids have tons of other sips with straws and none of them taste like this!

Waterwise 4000 Water Steam Distiller Save 17% Off

Waterwise 4000 Water Steam Distiller - Glass Jug / ContainerWe bought our distiller, which is like this one, years ago under the Kenmore name. We purchased it because we moved into a house with well water and we were expecting our first baby... and well, you know how it is, we were worried about water quality.

Well our darlin'' is now 9 years old and the distiller is still going strong, providing us with flavorless water for drinking. Having lived with well water now, I can tell you that it prolongs the life of coffee machines and steamers by reducing mineral deposits on heating elements and what-not.

And we liked this machine enough that we have purchased another Waterwise unit. This second unit is more attractive, but to tell you the truth, I like this older version better. For one thing, it doesn''t have any plastic tubing which can crack and/or leave plastic particles in the water.

If appearance isn''t a problem, I''d definitely buy this distiller. This system is just simple and best. Ours has run for years and the only thing I would do differently is that I would clean it with vinegar more often so the mineral deposits wouldn''t build up and make the interior so unaesthetic.

Notes: Like our other Waterwise, this distiller is fairly noisy.

Pam T~

Purchased this about 2 months ago. I live in the mountains and our water comes out of a spring, which is exposed in a creek for about 10-15 feet. I am gratefull to no longer be exposed to the high doses of chlorine and who knows what else through our water as I was living in the city where you could literally smell it in the water. But we do not have a effective home filtering system to weed out any living org.s as I would like. I have kidney issues due to my ignorant diet and life style of old.

I now need to baby my organs and have adapted a much healtier diet and lifestyle and have experienced many benefits. Although I have more energy, no headaches and heart burn, warts, bladder infections and other afflictions of years ago, I have to be very carfull what I take in especially where my liver and kidneys are concerned! I was purchasing nearly 20 gallons of distilled water weekly for tea, drinking and produce wash and soaking. What a pain! The cost may have only been about 70 cents a bottle but the lifting, transporting and storing was for the birds. Considering that these also come in plastic bottles that have sat on a truck and in a warehouse and in my trunk, I can only imagine the contaminants I was still taking in.

This distiller just had to be given a chance. I dont have alot of money so I want the most "bang for my buck" and my health resonably possible.

I have worked this baby to the max., sometimes pushing it to pump out 2-3 gals a day. Has worked wonderfully! I know many reviewers dont like the glass jug with it.......I however do. I have not attached the handle and it fits just fine up next to the distiller. I just need to be extremely carefull to not drop when moving it.

I have so benefited from this appliance I am considering purchasing one for a friend with health and water issues. Only thing is I think I will get same distiller only not pay the extra for the jug and just tell her to find a glass jar or jug that might best suit her.The glass jug is really thin and seemns easy to chip or break. I have my eye open for a thicker one for myself as well. Probably for less than $45.

I highly recommend this distiller. If I can give it longer breaks I try and pour some white vinegar in and let it soak in distiller overnite or while I am out for the day, then wipe and rinse it out before next batch. Easy enough. Gratefull to have this appliance :o)

After two years the thermostatic switch in my Waterwise 4000 started going wacky. After the unit finished distilling the water it would shut itself off. But then for some reason it would turn back on again. I am afraid it has become a fire hazard.

I recently bought a new Model 4000 distiller that came with a glass bottle / collector instead of the usual plastic collecting jug I am very disappointed with the glass unit; it is not of the exceptionally high quality I have grown accustomed to vis-à-vis Waterwise distillers. I strongly suggest the decision to furnish the glass unit with the distiller instead of the plastic jug used for many years is a serious marketing mistake; sadly I cannot find the formerly furnished plastic collection bottle listed for sale on the Waterwise Web site as an individual item.

Specific issues concerning the glass collector include:

The lid and pour cover do not "snap in place", they are not a snug fits, rather, both fit loosely.

The lid keeper is poorly designed and, at best, only marginally secures the lid.

The adapter cover is not secured to the unit thus promoting its quick loss.

The vertical handle promotes bulkiness; the side handle on the plastic is a much better design.

Glass breaks, BPA free appropriate plastic is virtually unbreakable.

I recently purchased this item and am very happy with it. I am happy with the quality of the product. It was very easy to put together and get started distilling water. The only negative for me is the design of the glass pitcher. I transfer the distilled water from the glass pitcher to a plastic jug in order to store the water in my fridge. The lip on the glass pitcher will dribble water every where when you start to pour from it. You have to be very careful. My solution is to use a large funnel to catch the dribble as I pour the water into the jug.

Other than that design flaw, I am happy with this product.

It does what it says it will do. I have a friend who says hers has operated , trouble free for a number of years and I hope mine will do so also. I would recommend purchasing this to anyone who wants pure, safe drinking water.

PROCTER & GAMBLE 00545 PUR 3 STAGE FILTER

PROCTER & GAMBLE 00545 PUR 3 STAGE FILTERIs a PUR water filter worth the money?... You bet your life it is.

I switched from sa Brita filter years aago and have no regrets.

At work, we get the big 5 gallon bottles of water for the cooler. well, when that water hits room temp, it tastes like stale tap water. When the PUR filtered water warms to room temp, it remains colorless odorless and tasteless.

I imagine the filters are fine, but I expected to get three filters in a retail box just like the picture shows. Instead, I got three filters shipped together in bubble wrap. Also, their mylar covers do not say they are 3-stage and they feel looser than I remember.

In this world of Chinese knock-off''s how can I know these aren''t Chinese knock-off''s???

The PUR 3-stage faucet filters are hard to find in the stores where I live, so I am very happy I was able to purchase them online.

I don''t drink tap water any more. The water in Mesa, AZ is hard and tastes of chlorine. Now I have about a 90-day supply of filters and will order more when these are nearly used.

The order arrived much earlier than I''d expected; at least three days earlier than the estimate I received with my receipt of purchase.

Keep up the good work!

I received all three in the mail earlier than I expected them. And although the items didn''t come in the typical store boxed package/box, they were delivered in their individually wrapped, gold plastic packaging, each with their own instructions on how to install in the filter. All in all and wonderful purchase choice.

AOK AlkaPod Portable Water Alkaline pH Enhancer Save 59% Off

AOK AlkaPod Portable Water Alkaline pH Enhancer - IonizerThis was a good product--in the beginning. I certainly removed the chlorine odor, though I had no real way to know that it removed the actual chlorine or chloramines. After using it for a couple of weeks, my pH test did indicate that my system was more alkaline. After a few months, the water started to come out cloudy--and cloudier and cloudier, over the following weeks. Now, it is also all rusted inside. This may be the fault of a cheap handle on the little filter basket, but the product is now useless, regardless of the cause.

I paid full price for the "real thing", as opposed to the cheaper copies, specifically because I assumed that I would get better quality. In fact, if I had bought a cheaper one, I would probably just think you get what you pay for--though I would not buy another, as I don''t like to fill landfill...

Not a good solution to the water-filtering problem.

While I can return this to Amazon, I have to pay for the shipping.

I love my AlkaPod. I''ve had it for a year now (replacement filters are $30 and I''ve only had to buy one).

Mostly I have to say that it makes water taste SO much better and as a result, I drink way more! (knowing that I''m actually making the water even healthier for me doesn''t hurt either!)

The only thing that would make it better is if you didn''t need to get a replacement filter at all (wishful thinking, I know) but buying the filters a few at a time is probably a better way to go (so there''s no "wait" period when you need to replace it). I would love it if they were available in a 3-pack at closer to $20/pc. Then I''d increase my rating to a 5.

The item does what it should regarding alkalinizing water. It is just too small to be convenient. One must wait five minutes for the water to become alkaline which is fine. However, if wanting two glasses of water back to back, one must wait five minutes. It is a good concept, just too small for my personal needs.

DeLonghi ECAM22110SB Compact Automatic Cappuccino Save 26% Off

DeLonghi ECAM22110SB Compact Automatic Cappuccino, Latte and Espresso MachineWe bought this after a couple of months looking (unsuccessfully) for a replacement for our 15-year-old krups drip brewer which we loved until it finally pooped out and started leaking like a sieve. At some point in our search we said "maybe we should get serious." This is the first super automatic espresso machine we''ve ever owned so I can''t compare it to anything but I will say this: we love it.

We knew enough to know that "super automatic" is important if you don''t like the actual manual process of making espresso (we don''t) and since this one doesn''t actually say "super automatic" but rather "compact automatic" I was a little confused but eventually learned that compact automatic just means it''s a super automatic with a smaller footprint. For those really ignorant like us: Super Automatic means you fill the bean bin and the water bin once every so often, and then it''s ready to go. When you want a drink you turn it on and press a button single espresso, double espresso, single lungo, or double lungo. Then you watch as it makes a bunch of interesting noises then fills your cup with beautiful, steaming hot frothy coffee. Then you drink it. Super automatic.

The benefit of a compact super automatic is the smaller footprint of course. The downside is that you have to fill the bean and water reservoirs (and empty the dregs basin) more frequently than "regular size" super automatic. For us it is about twice a week two adults home all day and we like coffee. We''re actually probably going through more than normal right now because we''re enjoying playing and experimenting with strengths, mixes, quantities, etc. It has been a few days and already I''ve figured out my tastes but it''s still fun trying new things.

If you love coffee and want to treat yourself this is a winner. The small footprint is nice it doesn''t look like a commercial espresso machine sitting on our counter (though it''s bigger than a regular drip maker). Again I don''t have anything to compare it to since this is our first one but I can''t think of anything about it we don''t like. You have to remove the outside part of the steamer/frother to clean it, or you can leave it off when you froth and avoid that cleaning step. But I don''t do any frothing anyway (wife does).

It''s super. It''s automatic. It''s compact. It makes incredible espresso, americana, lungos, long blacks, cappucino, and lattes. We are very happy. I will post back after our first full cleaning.

August update: It has been 8 months and we love it just as much as when we first got it. We cleaned it once it was trivial. No issues except that one bag of beans we purchased from Trader Joes were a little oily and they got stuck in the hopper another reviewer also mentioned this. I removed the little cap from over the hopper (2 philips head screws) and left it off not sure how or if that can hurt anything but it has worked fine since.

Seriously we love this thing. There is nothing like feeling an urge for a cup a joe and 3 minutes later having one in your hands with nothing to do or clean up. And it is goooooood stuff. We were talking the other day and decided it''s the best luxury gift we''ve ever given ourselves.

PROS: Makes very good coffee and lattes. Sleek, good-looking appliance. Works as you would expect.

CONS: (very minor) Chrome "heating" plate doesn''t get warm enough to heat anything (who cares?). Beans on the "oily" side don''t always feed smoothly from hopper to the grinder.

I''ve owned several automatic machines over the years from Saeco and DeLonghi (most recently the DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic Espresso/Coffee Machine) that have acted as our go-to small office coffee makers. (I''m a latte-holic myself, 4 to 5 a day, and admitting that is the first step toward recovery I''m told...) I have a tendency to wear them out in 2 to 3 years because they get a lot of use, 5 days a week. But that is to be expected, at least by me, as these really are intended as home-use machines. That being said, this is a fine machine for it''s job which is to keep me in lattes!

It makes very good, tasty shots of espresso for those lattes, steams my 1% milk great with a nice, dense foam, and the regular coffee drinkers are very happy with their full coffees.

Tip: Best way to froth the milk?: swing the frother arm all the way to the left and stack your steamed-milk container with your cold milk in it on top of an empty coffee mug off to the side on the counter. That way your milk container is high enough to just sit there with the wand in it as it steams. You can walk away for a couple of minutes and do something useful. Just don''t go too far away and "forget" it''s steaming what a mess! But the frother "froths" really well all by itself, doesn''t over-bubble and spill over the side like some past machines have done. Well-designed.

Right out of the box, it made a great-tasting first latte for me. One of the best, actually. I left the grinder on the factory setting, and set the rotating knob to between 1:30 and 2:00 o''clock position (just guessing) and it made both a great double-shot of espresso AND a great-tasting regular coffee on my first two tries (I used the "double" buttons on both the espresso side and coffee side that''ll make more sense once you see the machine and read the instructions).

I''ve only had it about a month, but so far so really good. The only minor issue is that bean hopper "con" above. It''s a bit shallow in slope, so my slightly oily beans (Costco/Kirkland espresso, roasted by Starbucks beans) get stuck sometimes during the grinding portion of the process, and I have to lift the lid and stir them a bit with a spoon to make sure they get down where they need to go not a huge inconvenience.

I''ve had a couple of the DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnificas DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic Espresso/Coffee Machine mentioned earlier, and they are GREAT machines! (that''s the one I have at home for weekend use). I''m hoping this latest DeLonghi for the office lives up to that model''s standards. By the way, the model number for replacement water filters is: SER 3017. Google "Water filter SER 3017" though, to find it online, because it doesn''t show up on Amazon. And DeLonghi customer service was no help at all via an emailed question about the filter, which should be a concern to them I would imagine. Hey Amazon, how about linking to the company that sells the filter?

Bought this machine and right out of the box it was not drawing the beans into the grinder.Tried calling the manufacture and all I got was we can return it for repair.

It''s only a day old.So I got on Amazon.com and looked at the reviews and see I am not the only one having this problem. So here is the fix.List off the cover to the bean bin and remove the mushroom cap inside the bean bin where the beans go into the grinder. This can be done by removing two little phillips screws and pulling the mushroom cap up and out of the bean bin.Save this piece just in case you would need warranty work for something else. Now there is no problem with beans feeding into the grinder. My guess is that it''s a safety thing so one would not reach in and put there fingers into the grinder.Hope this helps someone else.

I have used other automatic espresso machines and I find this Magnifica to be better for many reasons.

1) settings to control strength, temperature, coffee grind coarseness, auto-off time interval, and cup size

2) small footprint in terms of machine size

3) easy to access the water bin which can slide out partially and be filled while it is in place. Very nice feature considering you add water daily like you do with all machines.

4) machine auto-rinses. Some machines make this an option which is really about maintaining the machine.

5) perfect user interface. Easy to use

6) Great coffee.... Great coffee

7) Excellent frother. Many machines (Jura) don''t stack up

8) easy to clean! The brew unit comes out and it doesn''t require service at the factory. Look for this feature!

9) by-pass doser option. Many machines have this but not all machines in this price range

10) Decent price range and reputable company

11) Nice looks; It is a value blend of plastic and metal where needed. Sure it could be all metal but that would only drive up cost with little to no benefit.

I am happy with the purchase and I have had this for 4 months at this point.

I am guilty of not reviewing most of the products I buy on Amazon and some of the other websites but I decided to take the time to review this machine because I went through such a difficult time trying to get the best espresso machine without breaking my bank. I purchased this with these things that important to me: Time, ease of use, quality of the drink and again the most bang for the buck. Please keep in mind I have never tried to manually prepare espresso drinks myself but I have tried espresso from local mom and pops shops as well as the more known coffee shops here in New York.

Out of the box the machine is pretty straight forward and comes set for a standard espresso shot. The DVD is very helpful when trying to figure out this machine. It walks you through most of the functions. Depending on whether you will like your espresso shots really strong or not then you can play with the grinder settings and water settings. There are also settings to make the water hotter from the start to make the shot hotter. There is also automatic turn off and you can set this to your liking as well. Bypass doser for decaf, buttons will prepare one or two shots as well as two different settings for long coffee. For detailed videos I would check out Seattlecoffee Gear and youtube. They tell you not to use Dark Oily beans in the grinder because they can get stuck and clog it up. If you prefer the dark beans just try Lavazza or some good brand italian beans at your local espresso house. They can run you a pretty penny but for some its worth it.

I normally put the machine on before I get in the shower. When I come out I press the double shot to prepare my shots and wallah...it''s all done in a matter of 60 seconds. I usually drink cold drinks so I use cold milk but I have made several friends shots and they loved it. As far as the shots not being strong enough or not having enough crema, I really have to say that not one person complained about anything yet and I actually find the reg shots of espresso to be way to strong for my taste. This machine is great I love it and have made 2 or more drinks everyday since I got it a month ago. So far so good!

Bottom line, if you are always rushing to get to work, gym, and other places you have to be and you want that cup of espresso before you go this machine is for you. If you enjoy making espresso from scratch and controlling every single part of the process this ISNT for you. As far as quality of drinks I LOVE IT and others who I''ve made drinks for have said they loved it as well. If you can catch a steal with this machine at around $500 I would say most def GO FOR IT!

AVANTI H2O DISPENSER TABLETOP

AVANTI H2O DISPENSER TABLETOPThis product uses the standard water bottles but, does not hold but a little over 16 oz. of water at a time. It says in the handbook that if you use 2 cups of water, it will take the machine 25 minutes to get the next 2 cups cold. It doesn''t say that in the description on the item. Product does not have the piercing device that you turn the water bottle upside down on. So I''m not sure how the water is supposed to drain into the very small reservoir. If you have to remove the entire cap from the top of the water bottle, that is very dumb. I will stick with the cooler I have that sets on the floor taking up room.

Because of the needs of our small office I was determined to get a small water cooler/heater and this was the only model I could find.

The 3rd unit seems to be fine (I returned the other two because they were defective and either didn''t heat or didn''t cool the water.

1 little red relief buttons spray water everywhere, take forever and eventually sometimes leak, I hate them.

2 crack the blow-off for instant pressure relief into a 5 gal bucket or 32 gal garbage can. This is the ONLY way to blow-off the carbon block finish filter in the customers home, no explaining why all the faucets are running out a LOT of black water. (Looks like your changing oil on a diesel bulldozer in the customers bathtub, embarassing!)

Triple progessive setup, all 1" main header (5 bed, 3 bath):

First Sediment filter 4.5x20" 50-25-10-5 micron (quad layer gradient poly)

Middle Fine filter 4.5x20" 25-10-5-1 micron (quad layer gradient poly)

Final Charcoal filter 4.5x20" 10 micron (carbon block, to brighten up water, not user for sediment filtration)

Full flow, total pressure drop < 1 psi @ 65 psi, can''t tell the filter from bypass.

If you are installing just one, consider using sediment filter 4.5x20" 50-25-10-5 micron (quad layer gradient poly)

Comes with O-ring gasket (no wrench, buy one separate), perfect 1st time zero leaks, perfect for pro plumbers!

These are knock-offs of the original Pentek units. No problem with that, I knew this before purchasing. The housings also do not have pressure relief valves. Again, I knew this prior to purchase, so no problem here either. Obviously, the pricing was very attractive on these units. I was disappointed that there was not even one housing wrench within the three housings that I purchased. The housings look good. Have not installed them yet. I''ll be doing three in series, one particulate and two carbon block filters. These will be replacing a full size loose granulated carbon (GAC) floor standing cylinder, used for Radon abatement. The shipping was fast and I had some contact with the seller prior to purchase (email) and the replies were timely and helpful. I have not contacted them about the wrench (which the listing did not imply was included). Perhaps I will after writing this.

Portable Reverse Osmosis System 10 Stages of Filtration

Portable Reverse Osmosis System 10 Stages of Filtration
  • Convenient, easy to use and hook up to the sink faucet
  • 50 gallons per day / 76 liters per day
  • All hardware included
  • 10 stages filtration
  • Great for homes, apartments, office, recreational vehicles, motels, and laboratory use.

This system was easy to setup. It included easy to follow instructions and I managed to get it working in only a few minutes. Pure, great tasting water was ready in a jiffy! Water purification rate is about 1 gallon per hour: I keep rotating and storing two, 1 gallon bottles every day to fill up water and works out perfectly for me.

This system was exactly what I was looking for: a reverse osmosis system, portable and not requiring any cutting and gluing of my existing pipes as I live in an apartment and am not permitted to modify the plumbing. I was hesitant to buy, especially after reading some of the other reviews criticizing the setup which sounded complicated. But I have to say rest assured, setup is very easy and intuitive. Not to mention great tasting reverse osmosis water right in your home.

I did not test the water quality after installation myself, but I believe the numerous reviews around the web praising this system for removing impurities, especially heavy metals and other toxic chemicals. Regular tap water at my place tastes sweetish (probably from lead from the pipes) and smells strongly of chlorine, but the reverse osmosis water from this system has no such obnoxious odors or tastes associated with it, indicating highly pure water that also removes chlorine. I will soon invest in a water-purity indicator and update this review again.

I have been using this system for more than two months now and feel this is an absolute great value for money and saves me a lot of trips to the local grocery store to get safe but expensive ''reverse osmosis'' water. Again, I highly recommend this system to anyone looking for a portable reverse osmosis drinking water solution.

It takes about 2 hours to fill up a 5 gallon watter jug but having fresh great-tasting water is well worth it. Before adding this RO system to my kitchen sink, the TDS (total disolved solids) was around 500-600. Now, with the RO filter in place, the TDS has dropped to a mere 30!

I have this product for about 1 month now. So far its performing good. Installation was fairly quick and easy.

Water rejection is higher, but was acceptable to me. Other key thing I didn''t like was very slow rate of water, so I have to put tank to store water instead of using it directly. And this need monitoring when tank is fill.

Taste of water is good.

The piece I got released some black particles from output but after 15 minutes it worked fine and it has been almost year and it still works great. Great tasting water.

i first ordered the 10 stage filtering one which had good reviews but after i tired that it didnt improve the taste. this does the job but as with any RO it wastes lot of water.

6 Replacement Charcoal Water Filters For Cuisinart Coffee MakerThe filters were fine was what i had ordered, But the coffee maker broke before I could use them and it was about 11 months old. This one was the second one i have purchased. the other one lasted about 3 years they both ran a price of about $80.00 some odd Dollars they are not worth the price.

The filters were exactly as described. Over time my coffee, which I brew very strong, began to get a little bitter. I popped one of the filters into the Cuisinart and it noticeably reduced the bitterness. No problems.

GE SmartWater Filter Cartridge (MXRC)

GE SmartWater Filter Cartridge
  • If insure, please ask your seller if it fits your model

The water dispenser from our GE Monogram refrigerator had become maddeningly slow in the five years since I last replaced the filter -presumably because the filter was full of impurities, although our water supply is extremely high quality. The new filter has increased the flow dramatically and was easy to install.

These GE replacement filters work just fine, but at $40 each, a bit pricey. Yes, I know that they do more than my car''s auto filter, but when I can get an entire oil change for $25... it just makes you think twice about spending so much on water.

  • Reduces lead and cysts
  • Reduces chlorine taste and odors and particulate matter from the drinking water
  • Unique 3rd stage UV unit ensures high quality drinking water
  • 1,350 gallons capacity
  • Includes an AC adapter

We have a well over a pasture and it gets contaminated. We discovered that some of our intestinal problems were related to Giardia and Chryptosporidia. Boiling and distilling water took a lot of time and energy very costly. I didn''t like the idea of whole house UV because you have to leave it on all the time. We don''t have room for the chlorine drip tank system. This small, inexpensive, easy to install system in combination with some poly carb tanks has given us biologically safe water to drink without having to haul it from the store. Also store bought water come in plastic that has to be recycled and can be contaminated with bisphenol-a. We turn this system on only once or twice a week to fill up the drinking water containers. I learned that turning on/off the bulbs substracts 6hrs. from the bulb life. But if you only turn it on once of twice a week, you still extend the bulb life. This product has been a great solution for us.

This product is made with cheap plastic parts. I have nothing against plastic and understand it is good for plumbing parts because it is smooth, moldable and resists rust. What I am saying is that this product is made with cheap, thin, brittle plastic. I had to return it twice. The first time a small plastic fitting was broken. Actually I''m glad it broke before I had it entirely installed. The second time I returned it for my money back. I installed the new unit only to find it was unable to withstand the water pressure when the faucet was off. A small cheap hose would come flying off and send water everywhere. This was a part that was manufactured and assembled at the factory and nothing to do with my installation. On top of this I had to go on line to the WATTS website to get assembly instructions, the unit comes with a one page completely oversimplified instruction sheet. I recommended Amazon discontinue selling this item.

This was very easy to install and seems to be working very well. Our only concern was the marked difference in the cost of this product versus more expensive models. Water flow is great.

The unit is easy to install and use. However, good luck finding a UV replacement bulb.

None are listed on Amazon for this unit and it is extremely hard to find one.

Good luck on finding one. Based on this fact I would not recommend this unit to anyone.

Pre Fresh Garden Hose End Water Filter

Pre Fresh Garden Hose End Water Filter all purpose, pool, spa, hot tub, pets, car washThis product should be a requirement on all spa water fills where well water is used. You will find you water will be softer and will require far less chemicals to keep it within required levels.

All it takes is one white water mold infestation and you''ll never fill your hot tub/spa straight from the hose again. This is bar none the best garden hose filter on the market. Never had a problem with white water mold (chlorine doesn''t kill it) after using this hose filter on every fill.

Watersafe WS425B Drinking Water Test KitI bought this kit as well as First Alert WT1 Drinking Water Test Kit. Both from Amazon.com, thinking I would try two different kinds just to be sure. When I opened the packages. The exact same contents were inside, right down the the instruction booklet. They are made by the same company and put in different boxes. However, The First Alert WT1 Drinking Water Test Kit is only $12.99.

A very simple test kit to use in evaluating your water supply. We just put in a new well and wanted to check its quality. Followed the simple, well-written, instructions and everything came out just fine. Followed up with a double check of the results by taking a water sample to our local University. They validated the findings provided by the Watersafe kit.

Kit is great. The instructions were easy to use, and the test were of high quality. Most of them had controls. I was surprised at the quality. Some of the test take longer the other to complete. The longest was the e-coli test, which took 48 hours.

While not marketed as such, i think this would be a great kit for a science fair project, or to each your kids about water quality.

This kit was great. It looked much more complicated than it actually was and, with the exception of the bacterial test, the results were quickly obtained and easy to decipher. The kit features tests for lead, chlorine, pesticides, bacteria and water hardness, among others. In addition to giving us accurate information about the safety and potability of our water, conducting the tests was easy enough to do with my children who loved this ''science'' experiment. Highly recommended.

Hamilton Beach 40540 Brew Station 40-Cup Coffee Urn Save 36% Off

Hamilton Beach 40540 Brew Station 40-Cup Coffee Urn, SilverThis urn is supremely functional, with no bells and whistles. It advertises brewing times of 45 seconds per cup, but I''ve found that it''s closer to the minute per cup advertised by other models: you''ll buy back very little setup time with this model (heating 2 gallons of water took 35 minutes for example). Plus, like all other coffee urns, this one sings its moany little song while brewing, so if there''s a chance it might be a distraction, you''ll need to plug it in ahead of time so it''s done brewing by the time the main event occurs, or you''ll need to brew in another room and move it to the buffet table once it''s hot. The one-handed dispensing works fine if the cup being dispensed into is solid, like a coffee mug, but common sense is confirmed that paper cups are not sturdy enough to depress the button without collapsing. In order to dispense one-handed with a paper cup, you have to push the button with your knuckles, which puts your fingers in the path of potentially hot liquids. Finally, and this is something that there''s no way to know before reading the owner''s manual, there''s a little strainer right above where the liquid comes out. The owner''s manual warns not to tip the urn while dispensing in order to prevent clogging of this strainer with coffee grounds. That''s all well and good, except that due to the placement of the dispensing nozzle, the coffee becomes inaccessible when the level goes below about 10 cups--that''s 1/4 of the total brew for a full pot!! It''s this waste factor that resulted in the 4 stars instead of 5. For its price, it''s a tidy little machine--the nozzle is particularly good at preventing drips. However, I''d rather clean up dribble from a lower-placed nozzle than have to find a way to decant 10 cups of coffee.

I just made delicious coffee for a crowd with this. I have never made percolator coffee. I think I put in too much coffee but it came out very well. I got a 13 oz can of some sort of smooth & mellow decaf coffee from Trader Joe''s and I got it very coarse ground. I used the whole can for a full urn of water (up to the 40 mark). I read that you use 1 pound for 2 gallons of water as a catering standard. The urn is about 80% of 2 gallons, so 13 oz seemed right. It was more than the directions for the urn, but I decided to wing it. I''m really glad that I did! It was excellent, even a couple of hours later. The keep warm setting is great and the coffee is nice and hot and NOT overdone. I would recommend that you get a light-medium roasted coffee and grind it coarsely in the store.

My husband asked me to save the rest, which he never does when I get the Peet''s catered coffee, so it is sitting in the fridge ready to make iced coffee!

Buy Hamilton Beach 40540 Brew Station 40-Cup Coffee Urn Now

We purchased this unit from Bed Bath & Beyond as a replacement to the Hamilton Beach 40515 (HB) coffee urn (which was better in our opinion).

This unit looks pretty, and it holds >40 cups of water just as the HB did, but instead of being tall and slim, it is a short and fat unit.

The cup dispenser uses a pressure-release mechanism rather than a lift valve which at first glance seemed better because we can just put pressure on it with the coffee cup in hand rather than lifting a latch, but we were mistaken. The unit''s pressure dispenser is placed at an angle, so it only dispenses full force when the bottom of the dispenser is pressed; when placing the coffee against the top of the unit, nothing comes out.

The problem with this is that the unit is so short, nothing larger than the small coffee cups will fit under the unit to allow it to dispense. This is a problem since most of our coffee cups are not the small ones. If you can fit the coffee cup under the dispenser to get it to dispense, you also have to be careful because unlike the spout-type dispensers, if you''re not careful and there is not a sufficient amount of water in the unit, you''ll knock it over and burn everyone around you including yourself when you reach to touch the burning hot unit with your bare hands to prevent it from falling and spilling.

Other than that, there is no way to see how much water is left in the unit, and the first day after using it with guests, it ran out of water and burned the bottom. Were there an indicator, we would have seen that we were running low on water and the bottom wouldn''t have burned, possibly damaging the unit. Other units have either an indicator where you can see the water level, and others even have an automatic shut-off when the water level gets low and this unit has none of these features.

We sell organic coffee at the local farmer''s market on Saturday morning, so I bought two of these so I would not have to brew continuously with my small coffee makers. They started out great, I agree with the other reviewers that the finish on this could be better and it does get scratched up and discolored. I also agree that the dispenser is not that great and causes many people to struggle to get their cup of coffee. The pots do heat up quickly, and it does take about a minute per cup for the pot to brew which is not as quick as Hamilton Beach boasts, but it makes a decent cup of coffee.

My main complaint is that after about 8 uses, one of my pots suddenly stopped perking. It would keep the coffee warm, but it would not perk (make) the coffee. I called Hamilton Beach and they replaced the pot (and charged me $7.95 to ship it back to me!) and I thought GREAT! Back to two pots we''re in business again! Not for long because I swear (NO JOKE!) the Saturday after my new pot arrived back from Hamilton Beach, the OTHER coffee urn went out! I am back down to working with one coffee pot and quite frankly due to my past experiences I have NO idea when this new pot will decide to give out! I have decided that I am going to replace the pots with a different brand because I depend on those pots working, and these are anything but dependable.

Functions well, heats quickly, but I don''t care for the aluminum, the inside discolors. Stainless steel would be better but would jack up the price substantially. I only bought it for holidays so its fine, but if I were going to use it more frequently, I''d opt for a better quality stainless.

Hoover C3820 Spotter and Carpet Cleaner Save 35% Off

Hoover C3820 Spotter and Carpet Cleaner with 3 Brush Roll SpeedsI bought the "commercial" unit to get larger holding tanks, since smaller units require annoyingly frequent refills and empties. The one gallon tank on this unit is sufficient for an average sized room. The dirty water tank is also adequate. The unit is simple enough to assemble, and works well. The tanks go on and off easily. There is no doubt that carpets look much better after cleaning, and of course the dirty water attests to the fact that a lot of soil has been removed. I personally recommend a rinse after cleaning with the detergent-containing water. To do this one must empty the cleaning solution from the tank and replace it with water only. This is not inconvenient, and is actually better than those systems that enable detergent on-and-off, since it is simpler and therefore less prone to failure.

On the negative side, I was surprised that the unit did not include an upholstery accessory, especially since the instructions for that are included. Also, it has fittings to accommodate the accessory. I spoke to the Shoplet representative about this, and after some discussion they agreed to send a new unit, from which I could remove the missing parts and return the rest. The new box arrived promptly, but also contained no upholstery accessory. It appears that for some unknown reason Hoover is shipping these out without the accessory, although it had been sold as a "carpet and upholstery cleaner" on Amazon. From the Shoplet representative I learn that Hoover says it is a carpet cleaner only, despite the aforementioned instructions, pictures, and fittings that are in the box and on the machine. You figure that one out. Shoplet gave me a partial refund, and that is the end of that. If you want an upholstery cleaner, look elsewhere besides this Hoover machine.

As another negative point, there is a clip on the cleaner handle to help hold the wire off the floor, but it is almost impossible to get the wire in it, and when you do it will pop out the first time you step on the wire. I solved this with a piece of duct tape to hold the wire more securely.

I haven''t had the unit long enough to comment on its durability.

I bought this from Sears, which was my first mistake. When we got it assembled, I followed the instructions on filling it with hot tap water and waited ten minutes. When I began using it, what came out of the machine was colder than the tap water I put in. I called the Hoover customer care number to ask how you make actual steam come out of the SteamVac and was told (and I quote) "Oh, that''s just the name."

Sears, in its ongoing campaign to gouge as much money out of the buying public as it can before going bankrupt, charged me a $30 restocking fee because I had already opened the box. When I asked how else a customer is supposed to know that the SteamVac Carpet Cleaner neither steams nor cleans, the conversation ended.

I was a little skeptical after reading mixed reviews, but am really happy I ordered this cleaner. I normally have my carpets professionally cleaned, but decided to use this cleaner "in between" cleanings. I was able to get stains out that the professionals could not get out!! I will save my money and forego the professionals and do it myself from now on. I used the carpet cleaning solution that came with the unit and dissolved a scoop of oxy clean.

The Dishwasher Filtration System Cartridge 2 Pack

The Dishwasher Filtration System Cartridge 2 PackLet me start by saying these filters work great! Our glasses, ceramics and polymer utensils come out super clean and we use much less detergent. The real problem is we have VERY hard water in San Antonio. The ion exchange process in this filter is the same process as any water softener, but you can''t include the saline recharge in an under the sink filter. My first filter lasted almost two months I''m hoping the next ones last a bit longer, but I''m not holding my breath. Honestly, this filter system just has too much waste for my taste. Throwing away this large chunk of polymer every couple months is not good for my landfill; while the cartridge may or may not be recyclable in your community, the poly beads inside are definitely not. If you''re handy, you can rig up your own salinated backwash system to make them last longer.
