In response to the 2 main problems other reviewers report with this product, my experience is that they can be resolved with minimal effort.

3/4 inch threads not sealing. I had no problem with this. I used thread tape, wrapped around the male fittings 4-5 complete turns, CLOCKWISE (important). I then threaded my fittings into the housing until they seated against the housing (my fittings have a collar), tight but not ridiculously tight. No leaks under normal household water pressure.

10 inch filters not fitting into housing. I purchased Culligan 20 micron filters and Purenex 5 micron filters. Purchased the Purenex because Amazon was out of the Culligan 5 micron. The Culligan filters are 9 5/8 inch long and have hard plastic caps on each end. The Purenex are 10 inch long and do not have any caps at the ends, they are all "filter". Needing to use the 5 micron, I inserted the 10 inch Purenex into the housing and screwed the base into the top and yesthe filter seems to be too long for the housing. I continued to screw the housing together, a little forceful, until the 2 pieces seated together. I encountered no leaks here either. I then checked the filter to see if it was crushed or distorted and it was not. Thus I think one can use 10 inch filters, they just need to be screwed on more tightly and the filter will conform. Also, as another posted; you could easily cut the filter shorter.

Very happy with the housing, made well, does exactly what I need; which is to pre-filter for a smaller micron filter in our roof-fed cistern water system.

There''s one flaw that makes the Culligan HF-150A unusable, at least for me: The NPT threads for the inlet and outlet are cut incorrectly and do not work well with standard fittings.

As everyone knows, NPT threads are cut on a taper, so that the pieces snug into each other as you tighten. Both threads on this filter are cut too large. When you try to screw in standard NPT compression fittings, the fittings bottom out before becoming acceptably snug. (I wasn''t even using a wrench; I was tightening them by hand!)

I discovered this while I was dry fitting everything, and without thread tape. However, several professional plumbers at the local plumbers'' supply house agreed that all was not right with this unit. They tell me that one would expect that the fittings should get snug well before bottoming out, even without thread tape.

One plumber at the supply house suggested I kludge it with LOTS of thread tape, and maybe a water hose gasket; others suggested trashing this unit and getting a "good" one. Not wanting to kludge or experiment, I went with the latter suggestion ditched this filter.

Note: The instructions talk about using a "BF-34" fitting kit to install this. Perhaps the only fittings that work with this are the BF-34 fittings. I don''t know. As I said above, I gave up on this filter.

Whatever filter you end up using, I suggest putting a cut-off valve on *BOTH* sides of it; that will make filter changes much easier. Being able to isolate the filter on both sides, you won''t have to turn off the water supply on the inlet, and won''t have the rest of the plumbing draining on your face through the outlet.

I am using this filter for all of the water coming into our trailer at a seasonal campground, in a "whole house" type configuration. Not sure exactly what was in the water, but it had a distinct taste and smell, and when boiling water for pasta, it would turn orange. After running water through it for only a minute, I removed it and looked at the filter and it had captured a surprising amount of "orange stuff". The filter does not seem to slow our water pressure at all.

The only issue I have with this filter, which I saw mentioned by other reviewers, is that when screwing in a standard 3/4" plumbing fitting into the filter, you need to use A LOT of teflon tape so that it does not leak. I had to put on teflon tape, put together, test, see leak, and repeat a number of times.

First of all, it''s much cheaper to buy these on Amazon than at your local hardware store. You can also get a good deal on the filters themselves by signing up for automatic shipment on the schedule you desire. That not only saves you on the filters, but also serves as a reminder that it''s time to change them out when the new ones arrive! There is another model that has a clear plastic body but it costs more for some reason. I had those and they froze and broke last winter so I thought these solid ones looked to be a bit stronger. If you are on a well, you should buy two of these and hook them up in series with a primary sediment filter in the first unit and a micron filter for the 2nd.

I got these two units installed and instantly had the clearest water coming from the tap. They cost more and have to be changed every two months, but the micron filter makes a huge difference over using cheaper ones that don''t have the higher filtering capability. I''ve got a lot of sediment and was using a Brita filter, but the water is now so bright and clear (and tasty) that I just use water straight from the faucet now. It''s the best water I''ve ever tasted actually!

Do not overtighten when you install the filters. If you have water leaking, check to make sure you didn''t drop the "O ring" when you removed the used filter. They also recommend putting some vaseline on the seal. Installed properly, you don''t have to use more than finger pressure with a slight snugging with the plastic wrench for a perfect seal. If you are still leaking stop and disassemble. Don''t force it too tight or it''s hard to get it off the next time you have to change filters.

If your filter box is outside make sure you have it adequately insulated if you are subject to hard freezes in your area. I have my box insulated with a 100 watt lightbulb on the inside which I plug in when temps drop into the low teens. I don''t recommend wrapping the pipes and the filters with insulation and heat tapes. That''s what failed disastrously last winter. First the heat tape failed and you couldn''t visually see that under the wrappings and secondly a couple of wraps of a heat tape around the filter wasn''t adequate. It was also a terrible mess to tear it all apart to change the filter cartridges! Better to insulate the whole box and put a visible heat source inside.

All we needed were basic cartridge casings to contain water filters for a two step filtering system outside of the RV without spending a fortune. Culligan had just what we were looking for. We''ll catch the sediment, etc. on the first filter then remove bad taste, etc. with the second filter before it enters our RV water system. Bath Ball Water Faucet Filter

I am glad that I purchased this filter, as my grandson needed to have bath water without the chlorine. It also helps to make the water smell better.

That said, I cannot believe that I spent $65.00 on a plastic ball with the most ridiculous excuse for a "handle" that I can imagine. I did my homewrk. Most all of the bath tub filters are made the same. The shower filters are great--just plug them inline with the water and call it a day, but the bath tub filter has a cheeesey platice tubing handle that will NOT stay on the faucet no matter what you do on it''s own. My daughter and I rigged up several hair ties and constructed our own cheesey handle, also had to use a "tubbie toy" to keep it away from the tub wall or the water would just flow right past it.

All in all, I guess no one is smart enough to make a filter that will actually work the way it is supposed to. I wish I could find something that works without all of the dinking around. Plus I feel robbed of a lot of money for a plastic ball with a cheap handle. (oh yea, my grandson thinks it is a toy so we have to fight over it to have him leave it alone and not want to throw it somewhere) A filter that you could attach to the end of the faucet with some kind of heavy duty rubber connection would do the trick. Maybe I will figure it out and make a fortune outselling this one.

Our water has some pretty intense chlorine--the filtration plant says it''s 1ppm, which I suppose is average for city water supplies but it doesn''t make for a pleasant drinking/showering/bathing experience. We''ve run whole house carbon filters for years but they wear out really quickly and we don''t always get around to replacing them on time. I bought the bath ball for an 80 gallon bathtub that''s used on a daily basis in the winter--it''s sort of a stand-in for a hot tub and our family is super addicted to it! It works like a charm to neutralize the chlorine. The manufacturer states that the filter will last for 26,000 gallons, but that depends on how much chlorine is actually in your water. Even if it turns out that I have to replace the filter several times a year, it''s worth it to me for better water quality and healthier baths! Well... it fits and stays in place. It does take longer for your tub to fill due to the fact you have to run the water slower so it doesn''t overflow the Bath Ball. The water does feel different and I am less itchy. The itchy skin was not from too hot of water... I believe Chicago''s high chemical water is doing it. I hope that the Bath Ball works overall in the long run.

My bath tub faucet is the type where you can''t control the amount of water that comes out. Turning it clockwise controls the temperature, not the amount of water. So the ball hangs from it, but since the water comes out fast it overflows the ball. So about half the water gets treated and the other half just spills over the top. I wish the ball was larger so all the water could drain through. It was a lot of money not to work. Notice the picture how slow the water goes through the ball. Close but no cigar!

This is one great steam mop. Read all the reviews for the SI-35 model and was all set to buy it but was wondering why there wasn''t a model that solved the swivel and cord length problem. It works great. HAAN made improvements on the SI-20 model. That model had a shorter cord and did not have a swivel head, this one does. It is important to note that of the steamers on the market, the HAAN series are among the few whose steam is actually 212 F at the exit point (mop head). This allows the HAAN to sterilize, not just break up stains and clean up messes on the floor. The carpet tool also works well; carpets appear revitalized and the little bugs (mites) that live in them get eradicated by the heat/steam. I highly recomend this item to others considering a steamer purchase, and those considering the SI-20, it''s a no brainer, get the 60.

After reading a ton of reviews of all types of steam mops, I finally decided on the Haan brand. This new model, the S-60 seemed to address the issues from previous models like no swivel head and too short of a cord.

The product arrived extremely fast and was ready to go except for one large screw that attached the handle. The mop is very lightweight and attractive (not like that really matters, though!). I was leary of the small water tank at first, but found that it held more than enough water to do all my floors but I have only a 1000 squre foot house. The water heated within 20 seconds and has a slight ticking noise when it heats, but that seems to go away once it gets going. The mop produced a significant amount of steam and did a good job cleaning my tile and my wood floors. There are 2 separate settings for mild steaming and full steaming so you can adjust for wood floors, which I like. The head swivels easily, which made it very easy for me to get beside the toilet. There was slight wetness once the pad started to get wet, but it dried very quickly. The only negative I would mention was the fact that the mop didn''t really do anything to a spot of dried on tomato sauce on my floor, it softened it up, but the pad didn''t have enough scrub power to get it off. I really didn''t expect it to, as it was a thick sauce! Overall on my hard surface floors, I found them to be squeeky clean and they didn''t feel filmy as they had in the past with cleaning products.

As for the carpet steamer, it doesn''t really help bring up stains, but I didn''t expect it to as it doesn''t have water and suction like the commercial ones you can rent at the store. It did freshen my rugs nicely and I felt satisfied with that.

Overall, while I think this unit is a little pricey, I believe that compared to other units I researched, the Haan reviews have been consistantly positive and the price is not that much more than brands with lackluster reviews. I would recommend this product.

I did a LOT of research & comparison before purchasing this SI-60 steam mop since I was disappointed with the Shark Pocket Steam Mop I had been using. I can honestly tell you after using it for over a month now that I am happy with this steam mop. I like the fact that it has an on/off button & 3 choices of steam that are continuous so no more pumping the handle every other time like I had to do to get the steam to pump out with the Shark pocket steamer. The mop pads are put on with velcro strips so it is easy to install & can be replaced in seconds with a new pad. You simply put the pad down with velcro strips facing up put the steam mop down on the pad & you are ready to go. I urge you to READ all the instructions PRIOR to using the mop so that you understand how this mop is suppose to work. I read a review where someone indicated that it left the floor dirty. It clearly states that you MUST vacuum your floor prior to using this to pick up the lint etc... This mop is designs to sanitize your floor and remove spills and spots not to pick up debris such as crumbs, dust etc... If I find a stubborn stain or spill I just go over the spot a couple of times & it comes off. I use only distilled or filtered water with the machine and 2 cap fulls of white vinegar. When you first turn the mop on it will make some noises which is normal as it heats up and begins to produce steam but then it is very quiet and glides across the floor. Since the steam will eventually saturate the mop pad I changed mine after about 15 minutes with another one. You can tell when the mop head becomes too wet because the mop doesn''t glide across the floor as easily & you start to see streaks. I purchased additional mop pads so it would be easy for me to change out. I love the ease of using this steam mop because it''s light weight and very quiet while doing a great job of steaming the floors. I''ve noticed that my floors have a nice shine to them and don''t leave the streaks I experienced with the Shark pocket steamer. Another great feature is that the pads can be washed and reused which means less waste for the landfill. I throw the pads in the washer but put them on the rack in the dryer to help maintain their shape. I gave the steam mop 4 stars because I wish I it would produce more visible steam coming out even when it''s on the highest steam level. I have five cats & feel it is important to keep my floors smelling and looking great & this mop definitely provides that results. So for me the pro''s of the Haan SI-60 Steam mop are: It''s light weight, easy to replace mop pads, quiet, continuous steam with 3 levels to choose from, & produces clean floors. Sprite Showers SL2-CM-R Slim Line Shower Filter Water Filtration

We have purchased two of these in less than 14 months. They do a great job--until they break. The first one lasted about 9 months or so and the second one broke this past week about 3-4 months after it was purchased. Both of them broke the same way. It sounded like something popped when the water was turned on and they started spraying water from the unit.

I bought this filter about a year ago. It was easy to install and I dind''t notice any decrease in water pressure. I''m sure it makes the water cleaner, etc., as it''s supposed to. I have had several of these and they work well, are easy to install and don''t leak. However, they sell replacement filters for them, but good luck ever trying to unscrew them to replace the filter. I''ve tried boiling, using WD40, multiple wrenches, nothing works. The surface is so smooth that there isn''t any way to get a good grasp on it to turn it with any force. They need to put a tiny slot that you can get a wrench or other tool through to get leverage to turn it. They are about $18 a piece, the filters are $10 at the big hardware stores. Luckily, I only have to replace them every 6 months.

My municiple water is rated to be amongst the best, but I wanted to add a charcoal filter. This does the trick. Installation took ten minutes. I have not experienced any leaks. It has a clean, functional design and does not corrode or stain.

What I didn''t expect to see was to "AVOID PROLONGED CONTACT WITH THE SKIN." I wasn''t sure exactly HOW long "PROLONGED" was, but I erred on the side of caution and used gloves. I only used the Magic Stainless Steel Cleaner ONE TIME. I sprayed it on a cloth (as directed) and wiped the appliances ... and WIPED, and WIPED and WIPED, and WIPED ... until FINALLY most of the STREAKS were gone. Between all the WIPING that was needed coupled with the WARNING about "avoiding prolonged skin contact," I finally decided to try another cleaner that worked wonderfully on cleaning my wood furniture, leather furniture, and marble and granite countertops. I couldn''t believe it, it worked GREAT on stainless steel too and without all the wiping.

Cuisinart DGB-900BC Grind & Brew Thermal 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker Save 54% Off

I bought this coffeemaker after returning my Krups KM7000. Overall, I have been pleased with this model, save for a few quirks. The bottom line is that it makes OUTSTANDING, HOT coffee with great convenience in a design that appears very durable. I have NOT had any problems with getting the pieces together and I do not find it complicated on a day-to-day basis whatsoever.

PROS:

-Coffee is full-bodied and flavorful. I use the 4-cup setting with about 3 cups of water and the strength set to strong. This uses the aroma feature, and the coffee is perfect.

-Temperature is perfect, the hottest I''ve tasted from a model like this. The base WARMS THE THERMAL CARAFE when the machine goes on, then goes off when the brew is complete. This may theoretically be eliminating the effect of the cooling of hot coffee by a stone-cold carafe. On the other hand, the carafe is highly insulated and it may be doing nothing. The bottom line is that the temperature is perfect, the coffee is still hot even after adding cold milk. The coffee remains hot for quite a while in the thermal carafe.

-Design is quite niceit is self contained as opposed to other mill & brew models that have parts that swing around. The design feels very robust, there are no wimpy plastic bits. There is a piece that fits over the grind basket that has a gear which appears to rotate, likely to keep steam out of the grinder.

-It could not be easier to use on a daily basis all I do is put in THE RIGHT amount of water, put the cover on top of the brew basket, and press program (I have it programmed for the same time every day). After it brews and I pour the coffee, I swing out the basket, pour out the grinds & rinse the basket, rinse the carafe, and I''m ready to go.

-cleaning is simple; I notice others complain but I haven''t had any problems. See above for my daily routine; I''ve been using the brush weekly on the grind spout, it takes two minutes and is not messy.

-The brushed chrome looks great on the counter.

-3 year warranty is reassuring

CONS:

-The grind appears to be too coarse. Other models have a grind control to change the coarseness of the coffee, this one does not. This has improved a little after a few weeks of use, but not completely. Also, I''ve noticed that (through laws of physics) the coarsest part of the grind stays on top, then the finer grounds work their way to the bottom. This is probably wasting a bit of coffee, but once I worked out how much water to use it doesn''t affect the strength. Overall I have not noticed that I am going through coffee faster than before, so I think some of the "coffee wasting" reviews may be somewhat overstated. On first glance it does appear to use a lot of coffee when you are pouring out the grounds, but looking at how many bags I''m going through it doesn''t appear much different.

-The mechanism to pour coffee from the carafe is not perfect; it works ok when pouring out from a mostly full carafe, but to get the last cup or two from the bottom I have to take the top off. If I don''t it drips all over the counter. Taking the top off I can pour it without any mess.

-The water indicator level is on the right side near the back. If you are putting it against a wall on the left it will be fine, but on my counter it needs to be against a wall on the right, so if I need to look at the water level I need to pull the coffeemaker away from the wall. To get around this I have figured exactly how much water to put in from a measuring cup.

THE BOTTOM LINE (again):

The coffee is excellent, and HOT. The design is marvelous. On a day-to-day basis it is extremely easy to use and convenient. The grind is a bit too coarse, but I don''t seem to be going through coffee much faster than before, so this may be a little bit of an illusion. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ADJUST THE STRENGTH OF YOUR COFFEE USING THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF WATER. I can strongly recommend this coffeemaker if you want hot, convenient, fresh-ground coffee every day. Enjoy!

I chose this grind and brew after reading all of the reviews for this and similar machines. Frankly, I am surprised by the negative comments. This is an easy to use machine once it is set up properly (the bean hopper takes a little of effort to snap in). The coffee tastes great and the parts are very easy to clean quickly. While the instruction book is not clear, Cuisinart was very helpful on the phone. The machine does not know how much water you put in, so if you set it to grind coffee for 6 cups and you have 8 cups of water in it, it will process all 8 cups of water. Other than this small quirk, the machine is a small wonder and I do not feel compelled to go out for coffee in the morning. The thermos carafe will keep the coffee quite warm for a few hours, even when the carafe is not warmed up with hot water. Wondering why it took me so long to go ahead and buy this machine. This is the best model; my neighbor has the first generation/second generation machine which is hard to clean and has a large footprint. Save your money and buy this model!

Now that I have had the machine for a month and a half: It requires some cleaning to get the fine grounds that compress and stop the grinder and ground coffee to get into the filter for brewing. I use a bamboo chopstick and a skewer to break up the compressed fine grounds that impede the machine from working properly. (Unplug the machine and put it over the sink area). I also use compressed air to blow out the fine ground particles. Still, this is a small maintenance to allow for great coffee in the AM.

This unit wastes beans.

According to the user manual, if you fill the coffee bean hopper with 1/2 lb of coffee, you can expect "at least" two 12 cup brews. I thought this was a bit conservative but it was confirmed when I made the first pot of coffee. I set the machine for 12 cups and watched as almost half of the beans disappeared on the first pot.

I figure it uses almost 1/4 lb of beans to brew a full pot (12 cups of 5 oz coffee). This is about double what would be used if you followed the directions when using a manual grinder (one scoop of beans per cup using the scoop that comes with this coffee maker).

I think Cusinart kept the grind at very coarse level to ensure proper grind flow in the machine. To compensate, they increased the amount of coffee ground. Thus it uses about 4 oz of beans versus 2.5 oz of beans per 10-12 cup pot. It doesn''t sound like much but works out to 60% extra per pot.

I''ve owned the Cuisinart DGB-600BC Grind and Brew Coffeemaker and Melitta Mill & Brew Coffee Maker so this is my third unit brew and grind unit. The two previous units has manual bean fill and comparatively good control on the grind. This unit always grinds very very coarse.

The coffee tastes OK its not as good as what you can get with a manual grind/brew but consistent with the other Mill & Brew machines I''ve had. It is well built and I think the 3 year warranty is key because our other Cuisinart grinder motor lasted about 18 months, but its going back because I make about 2 pots/day and this translates into a couple hundred dollars year. Going to try the Capresso 455 or 454.

I''ve got the Capresso 454 and love it. It can grind from super fine up to coarse and makes a great cup of coffee.

This is a GREAT coffee maker. The primary objections in other reviews I saw were 1) Weak coffee I do not understand this as you can adjust both the strength of the brew as well as the quantity of beans ground (e.g. grind enough beans for 10 cups but only put in 8 cups of water). We have actually had to reduce the strength settings as the strong setting was too rich for my wife ; 2) hard to pour this is somewhat true as the opening on the carafe is very small (to preserve heat), but twisting the top open just slightly solves that problem; 3) coffee not hot enough it is not as hot as what you would get at a specialty coffee shop but it is still hot enough to make very good coffee. We always rinse the carafe and our cups with hot water before we start and that seems to help a lot; We do find that we need to microwave the coffee in the cup if it has been in the carafe for about an hour or more 4) difficult to program or set up it does require being put together properly and it is somewhat more complex than the traditional drip coffee maker, but the setup requires about 20 seconds to master. We leave the settings alone and just pour in water and add beans daily so once it is set up, it is a "no brainer". We have never had problems with grinds being spilled and I suspect that whoever did either had a defective unit, or did not put the basket into the unit properly. My wife forgot to put the filter basket into the unit one time -and it would not grind the beans until she did -great feature.

The combination of a burr grinder, 12-cup capacity, insulated pot (no hot plate to burn the coffee), adjustable coffee strength, and large bean reservoir with ability to specify the number of cups being brewed (no need to measure beans every time you brew) make this a really great coffeemaker.

If your expectations are for a super-hot cup of coffee then you will be disappointed. If you just want an easy-to-use coffee maker that allows you to adjust the coffee strength to your preference (including very strong), then this is a great unit.

We are very happy with this coffee maker. The things that are not good are that the thermal carafe pours out a very weird thin stream of coffee which takes to long to fill a cup and it is awkward to comepletly emtpy it. It does leave some grindings on the lid but that is not a total problem. The coffee is not as hot because it goes into the cool carafe and that cools it down.

So the point of a thermal carafe is now a drawback. I like my coffee hot so its a draw back for me. Other than that it all works well, stays clean, you do not have to clean the grinder compartment eveyr time you use it. The compartment does not get any steam it in it like the previous one did. We bought ours from Williams Sononma and are trying it out. I think we will keep it but we are still not 100% sure. It makes a good cup of coffee and the grinder works great and the extra beans it holds is a big plus.

I looked and looked for a good bath filter, but all I found was a "bath ball" that hung precariously from the faucet by a rubber band or string, and soon fell apart -then I found the Sprite dechlorinating bath salts -yay!! They only mentioned the size of the container which was 10" x 8" x 6" and the jar was much smaller in size then what the discription was. I called the manufacturer and they stated that the plastic jar contained the same amount as the plastic jug with label (pictured). Something is not feeling right here.

This is the second time I bought these bath salts for dechlorinating. The first time they came as pictured, but this time they were in a round unmarked jar for some strange reason. Fortunately, I still had the first container in the recycle bin, so I put the bath salts in that one, which is more useful, having a handle and the cap which is used for measuring.

Other than the container, I like the bath salts and think they do a good job, although I also use filters and vitamin C tabs in the hopes of really getting the chemicals out of the water.

Saeco Intenza Replacement Water Filter (Box of 6)

We just got a new Saeco espresso machine in November. It originally came with one filter. Works well, and the water tastes good. I figure a filter every few months is better (especially with chlorinated water)than having to replace the whole machine in two years. There was a much larger Saeco filter that was compatible with our machine, also, but I didn''t want half the tank to be taken up by a filter. It''s small, practical, and does a good job.

Saeco discontinued one filter and replaced It with this one. It works perfectly in place of the earlier filter and supposedly lasts longer. It would be nice if they advertised this fact better. Other than that, excellent product.

Rubbermaid Filtration Bottle Filter Refill (Pack of 2) Save 27% Off

After reading all the reviews and double checking the packaging, which says "Fits with all Rubbermaid FilterFresh bottles", I was confident that these were the correct filters for this Rubbermaid 20-ounce FilterFresh bottle but these filters did not fit.

PROBLEMS:

The filter that came with the bottle had no extra ring around the outer top edge.

This filter does not have threads to screw it into the bottle.

The part # for this replacement filter pack is 1J63. I have no idea which filter pack I need but this is *not* it.

I am so sad. The Rubbermaid Filter Fresh water bottle used to be the best one on the market, but the new filter design is a disaster. It kills the product and makes it absolutely terrible. The original design did not leak at all as many reviews state, and it was the best, BUT NOW YOU CAN ONLY GET THE NEW FILTERS, and those LEAK!!

The NEW FILTER does NOT attach to the lid, is loose and in the way at filling, can FALL OUT and get lost or dirty at filling, and NOW LEAKS ALL OVER YOU when you squeeze it!

I actually liked being able to squeeze it, I shouldn''t have to wait for it to fall into my mouth like a baby just to keep from getting soaked when it leaks from all around the rim because of the new filter design.

Why on earth would they do something so terrible and stupid? Did they want to cancel the product line by driving people away from it, only after swindling them out of money for some junk first?

This had been my FAVORITE filter water bottle since I purchased on one Nov. 13, 2011 from Amazon.com. At that time, and for many filter purchases following, the filters had a top like a bottle mouth that screwed into the lid and kept it secure and sure to be filtering your water. It was fantastic.

Some people had complained about the fact that you could never quite get the last quarter inch of water because it couldn''t be made to go into the filter, but that was no big loss and not much that could be done about it. All in all, it WAS the BEST on the market. My Brita bottle was a train wreck of a bottle, I went through three of themone was sent free from Brita because I complained about how ALL of their bottles leak all over you, but why would I want MORE useless junk? I don''t know how anyone got one of those that didn''t leak all over them.

The Rubbermaid FilterFresh bottle was perfect. Secure. Reliable. Easy to fill. BUT NOW IT''S TERRIBLE! The new filter design does not attach in any way. The screw top is gone. Now it does not stay secure to the bottle top when you go to fill and it gets in the way and can fall out. You don''t wanna put a dropped filter back in your drinking water, do you? Ew. In addition it is no longer reliably filtering your water!! Since it moves around and no longer screws to the lid, it can''t keep all the water going through the filter before you drink it, water will get around it. It now LEAKS from all around the rim if you squeeze it and GETS WATER ALL OVER YOU just like that worthless junk Brita was churning out. This is AN ABSOLUTE MESS and TOTALLY USELESS.

How on earth could they make such an obviously TERRIBLE change??? This is SO SAD. I loved this bottle, I would have kept getting the filters and if needed replaced the bottle for however long they were on the market, and I would have continued to recommend them to everyone, but now I must say that no one should ever get one, unless they go back to the OLD FILTER DESIGN THAT ACTUALLY WORKED. If they do not, then this bottle is entirely useless, an unreliable filter, a hassle to fill, and entirely too troublesome to be worth it. WHAT A MESS!!

I bought 2 of these when I took my dad across the country to visit my son in Denver. Not being accustomed to the dry air out there, my son suggested we carry water bottles with us. Since you can''t get through airport security with liquids, I figured with this we could go through security with it empty, then fill it up once inside. We filled them with tap water from the airport rest room, and although the water wasn''t super cold to begin with, the taste was excellent and it was easy to drink from. We carried them in our onboard bags, and there was no leakage (which would have been a major problem since my onboard bag had my laptop computer in it). Once in Denver, we were able to fill our bottles at any tap and the taste was fresh and clean. We also purchased insulated sleeves with shoulder straps to make carrying them easier, and the water stayed cold with the sleeves.

Winix WAC5500 True HEPA Air Cleaner Save 17% Off

I purchased this today at Fry''s Electronics for $199, but really wanted a 5300 model, which they were out of as it is being discontinued. Later I found 5300 model could be purchased at Walgreens for $149. The only difference between the two as far as I can see is that there is a washable filter in the 5500, which might save me some money in the long run. My home showed "green" but I put it on the top speed to clear out the air anyway. It is loud at that speed, but very quiet at first 2 speeds. Later I will like the auto mode which switches to whatever the sensor thinks the fan should be on according to air quality. It is nice looking. I can''t say much now but it seems a little overpriced to me. I did not buy the extended warranty and hope nothing goes wrong as it only has a 1 year warranty. You still must replace the carbon filters every 3 months. Besides the one in the unit they give you 3 more carbon filters so this should last a year but maybe more if I vacuum it. The other washable filter should be washed every 6 months and can be washed 6 times and then must be replaced.

UPDATE: 6/6/11 I really like the Winix 5500, so much that I purchased a Winix 5300 from Walgreens and in the future will get the washable filter that Winix 5500 uses and put it in the 5300.

Both machines are quiet, clears the air, are sensitive to air quality. My rooms appear to be so much fresher and I''m happy with my purchases.

I have four of the round Honeywell air purifiers in large 50250 to the 50150 (with the vibration problem) and was needing something for the bedroom as the huge air movers were just too loud even on low. Many like the low Honeywell settings as a white noise generator and in that case they are the thing. You won''t find one quieter than the Winix. I have had many different brands and this one is the quietest. One thing you must understand is that when large amounts of air is forced through anything wind noise is produced. That is why the Honeywell purifiers are so loud because they move huge amounts of air quickly.

The Winix units are designed for dust and pollen hence the heppa. The automatic air sensor only senses molecule changes in the air quality (smells) and not pollen and dust on the auto mode. I keep mine at level 2 all the time and hardly notice it. First level is basically silent, but not sure it moves enough air.

It takes up less room being square and looks more modern. On the bad side it''s a freakin light show with all it''s settings. I had to put some tape over them to sleep with unit on second speed. On auto it has a sleep mode which tones things down. I can''t help but think that if you kept this on automatic you would be disappointed in your air results.

As for the plasma thing, I''m not sure mine works at all no sound difference or air change. Will this make the air better than the honeywells; no but it works well according to what speed you set it on and can approach their effectiveness on turbo but who wants to listen to that. Unit also does well to suck animal hair out of the air. Have a cat that walks into the room and you would think he exploded, takes care of all that.

UPDATE 1-2-2013 added a video so you can hear winix 5500, p150 and honeywell 50250 side by side and added a star. Doing its job well now.

Pros:

1. auto feature, will turn on higher settings when it detects more dust, or after cooking or other chemicals in air

2. will cycle air up to 350 sq foot room pretty fast

3. Works, when I wake up in the morning, nose cleaner than when i didn''t have winix 5500

4. can turn off plasmawave from remote so at night it''s a lot quitter when sleeping

5. since getting unit, haven''t woken up with a headache, and my stuffy nose only once so a major improvement

6. eliminate odors cooking, perfumes, etc

Cons :

1. on remote, doesn''t have auto feature, will have to setup auto from the unit itself

2. Plasmawave makes some cracking noise, not loud but noticeable when sleeping

Other Comments :

it''s a powerful unit/fan so when set on Max, it will make room cold not good for weathertime LOL but

it does clean up the air of dust and other stuff.

Thinking of getting another one for my computer room so I don''t have to carry my only one back and forth between rooms

WAC5300 $159 vs WAC5500 $199. I have 2 WAC5300''s and 1 WAC5500.

1) This model does come with a remote. The remote is very useful turning it on and changing fan speeds. It is the only way to turn off the plasma wave.

2) Washable Hepa filter. I have serious doubts that you can effectively wash a Hepa filter. There are no instructions for cleaning it either.

4) On fan speed #2 this unit (5500) is quieter

I have had this air purifier for 2 months now. It works great for us. I use it mostly on the 2nd lowest speed #2. The air in the bedroom where I use this one is always very fresh now. This model is a little quieter than the 5300. Both my 5300''s you can hear the motor making a faint whining sound on speed #2 only. The 5500 does not make this sound making it best for the bedroom.

I bought this primarily for:

1) cleaning the air of out-gassing from plastics/synthetics, paint, particle board, carpet etc.

2) No one in the family has any allergies, but I was interested in lowering the pollen, mold spores and dust especially in spring and summer when we all get runny noses from time to time.

3) I have a 5yr old son and want to keep the indoor air as clean as possible for his health.

IT WORKS FOR DETECTING AND CLEANING PLASTIC/SYNTHETICS OUT-GASSING:

I bought a memory foam topper to soften up a hard mattress and it feels great. However there were many complaints about chemical smell and that it needs a few days to air out before using. When I received it, I noticed a minor smell but used it that night since I am not sensitive to the odor. (2.5" Lucid by LinenSpa Gel Infused Ventilated Memory Foam Mattress Topper with Removable Bamboo Cover, QUEEN)

****This product detected the new mattress odor the 1st night and and while on auto kicked into #3 fan speed for about 45min. The air quality meter was at 4 bars of 5 and gradually declined to "good air quality". This continued for several days even though I couldn''t smell it anymore.

**** I smoke outside (never inside) and both models occasionally detect the small amount of smoke left in my lungs when I come in the house. This truly surprised me.

For LIGHT SLEEPERS like me:

For use in the bedroom I use a timer to shut the unit off between 4am and 5am when I am most likely to wake up from fan noise. The unit is very quiet at speed 1). Speed 2) is also quiet but can wake me up at around 5am. The timer I use is Belkin Conserve Energy Saving Outlet. It can be set for 30 min, 3 hours and 6 hours. So, I set it for 6 hours and turn it on at 10pm. It shuts off the air cleaner at 4am. Perfect for me.

Power consumption by fan speed:

Fan noise:

1) Very difficult to hear in a very quiet room at night.

2) Minor white noise, fine for daytime use but may be too noisy for light sleepers.

None. I can only hear something when the fan is on #1 low and I listen at the air outlet vent.

My modifications:

Surprisingly these all fit

1) I added a second charcoal filter to increase the effectiveness of cleaning odor and synthetics out-gassing. Carbon filters are VERY IMPORTANT to cleanse the air of very small pollutants. Pollutants too small for the HEPA filter to catch. Change the carbon more often than 3 months. You can buy cut to fit ACTIVATED CARBON filters here on Amazon for 7-10$ for 2.

2) I bought a washable pre-filter to keep dust from blocking the charcoal''s cleaning and extend the life of the Hepa filter. This prefilter is a little narrow on the width by 1/4" but works well Duck Brand 1285234 24-Inch by 15-Inch by 1/4-Inch Foam Air Conditioner Filter

Charcoal filter vs Activated carbon:

They have similar cleaning abilities but Activated Carbon is many times more effective than charcoal or carbon. For those that want to know, here is why: Activated carbon is processed carbon or charcoal. It is processed with steam to create millions microscopic holes and channels that trap the sub micron particles that pollute your air and that can''t be cleaned by the hepa filter. Activated carbon is used commercially to purify air and drinking water. I will be replacing the charcoal filter with Activated carbon filter. Cut-to-fit Carbon for Air Purifiers

Air quality sensor:

I was skeptical about the air quality sensor but it has detected some cooking odors and plastic out-gassing so far.

My only concern is how long will it work and I seriously doubt it will detect everything. Most sensors need some maintenance (more than the vacuuming recommended in the manual). ****But maybe it''s not important in the long run as you become confident the air cleaner works and you change the carbon filters at the recommended 3 months or sooner.

A little about me: I am a practicing Electronic Engineer with over 20 yrs experience analyzing electronic components and engineering modifications to improve performance or fix defects.

The price performance of this product is very good. I rate it 5 stars.

I purchased this unit in the hopes of helping my chronic sinusitis. As that will usually take a few months for me to finally realize whether or not it''s working, I can at least give some feedback on the unit itself (have only had the unit for a couple weeks now).

I used to own a Sharper Image Ionic Breeze and I absolutely loved it! But it broke and they went out of business. :( Those units work great and are a breeze to clean (just wipe the metal bars and you''re done!). Sadly, this unit is not the same (hence the four stars instead of five).

First off, I love the AUTO feature on this unit. It will automatically adjust the level (four speed levels 1, 2, 3, & TURBO) based on how dirty the air is (or how dirty that sensor in front is). It''s almost always on LOW for me as I have this 270 sq ft. room for just me and I''m super anal about keeping my place clean and dust free (this unit is certified to clean at least 80% of a 350 sq ft. room). Although, randomly at times, it will just go on full blast and I can even see the AIR QUALITY bar on front fully lit (yellow, green, and orange/red). Very odd. There''s a fan/vent on top of the unit and it blows so hard my ceiling fan even starts to spin. Otherwise, on low, it''s essentially noiseless (but you can definitely feel air coming out of that vent).

The "PlasmaWave" feature, as most have stated, when on, has this slight electric crackling noise that''s pretty annoying (unless the unit is on any other level but 1 or I''m watching TV or other loud noises that drown it out). So I just turned it off until I sleep.

This version has a remote and a washable filter so I''d definitely opt for this version (over the 5300, which, I believe, is now discontinued). It also comes with 3 carbon filters which you change every 6 months. The "TRUE HEPA" filter needs to be washed every 3 months (or is it the other way around?). Either way, with this purchase, you''re good to go for at least a year. And the carbon filter is not necessary so you could just use the HEPA filter for a few years.

I''d like to think that the air is cleaner but it may just be a placebo effect. Plus, I''m on new medication so now it''s hard to see what is causing my improvement. All I know is that, when I clean this filter, I''m going to see just how dirty it is. And now I''m considering getting another unit for my bedroom. :)

As far as the plastic-like smell some people have claimed on the 5300 model, I can''t smell so I have no issue with that. :P

it''s poorly executed. I''m unsure of crocks, but a standard cooler has a rod that goes into the water bottle. On the delivery bottles, the rod usually pops a center cap (same place this ball sits) and lets the water flow once the bottle is in the cooler. The cap sits on the rod and the bottle usually will reseal itself if you take it of right. The solution is simple and yet, utterly brilliant. I had thought that this product would have done something similar, but unfortunately, it wasn''t designed exactly right. The shaft that the ball sits in is not long enough to handle most cooler rods and the bottle is wobbling on a ball about a half an inch off of the sides of the cooler bowl that it''s supposed to be flush to. Thankfully, I didn''t try it with a full bottle.

Honestly, I would love to recommend this product. I would LOVE for it to work with the screw cap bottles (48 neck), but while close enough to taste the solution I wanted so bad, this product falls short. DANG! In this case, an extra inch could have made all the difference in the world.

This is a cap for your water jugs that you don''t have to break to get the water out. It doesn''t get water all over the floor, and it is reusable. I have had one of these for 5+ years now. Very durable. I just bought one for each of my relatives who use water jugs with the dispensers.

We have three 5 gallon water jugs in regular rotation, all with screw on caps. I''m 6''4 and 240 lbs, so I''m able to change them out fairly easily without much spilling. But its a huge pain in the butt for anyone else to change the water jugs without making a mess. We''ve tried a few other things that just didn''t help much. I saw these caps in the past but thought 12 bucks (with shipping) was way too much to spend on a bit of plastic. Well, obviously I finally broke down and bought a couple and they work great. I should have bought them long ago and will definitely recommend them to anyone with the screw on cap water bottles.

easy to install and does the job nicely. Perhaps a little leaking as I am putting the bottle in place and it is upside down. But since the bottle is over the water cooler it drips right into the reservoir.

Unboxing:

Item was purchased from Amazon directly; Arrived triple boxed and in perfect condition. I was presently surprised to find a little note from Keurig stating I was amung the first to receive the new K-75 this seems to be a silent upgrade as the UPC, and printed box specs are for the current model B-70.

The unit was packaged securly with an instructional/promotional packet above the top piece of styrofoam that was 1/2 of a steady shell that surround the fully assembled unit. Packet contained a "Buy two get two free offer" for K-Cup packs if purchased from Keurig directly, the owners manual, and the surprise note mentioned above along with specials directions on how to install the included water filter.

Setup:

Setup was easy, and took less than ten minutes complete. (This includes the brewing of the first cup) I found the most difficult part of the process was installing the water filter into the unit, as it must be lowered into the units tank, and seated on an inlet hole towards the rear of the tank. I would say most people would not have an issue with this however, and fully blame my ape hands for the difficulty I encountered.

Use:

The unit was ready for its first brew about 4 minutes after turning it on. Prep is simple and consists of raising the front lever, dropping a K-cup into the hole, closing the lid, and hitting brew. Not much more to say about the possess, it just works. The one thing that did stand out is how quite this unit is from start to finish. It is not much louder that the Bunn pour over machine it replaced!

Misc:

This unit looks great with the blue LED lit tank, and matching buttons. The larger 75oz tank slightly reduces the drip try area as it extends past the base as a result of the larger size. This in no way hinders use of the unit.

The directions for the water filter say each filter pod should be changed every 60 tank fills or every two months; which seems more than reasonable as a three pod replacement pack is about $12.

Brews coffee as well as any of Keurig units I have tried, and water temp is accurate to within 1 degree of its set point measured at the very top of the stream coming out of the unit.

All in all I am very happy with this product, and as a result I just purchased another for my office.

I just got the Keurig K75 at Costco with 60 K-Cups and My K-Cup reusable coffee filter for only 149.99. It''s a great coffee maker, but if you are a Costco member, you might want to save the $30 and get the extras.

I gave this to my husband for Christmas and he LOVES it! I purchased the personal k-cup that you can use with your own coffee. He used to go out to work without making his morning coffee and purchasing it on the road. Now he just makes a cup and goes. The purchase price of this coffee maker will pay us back very soon now that he is making his coffee at home.

I purchased the Keurig B70 for work. When I make coffee at home I prefer to grind my own beans and will drink an entire pot but at work I wanted something convenient that would give me a fresh cup every-time, never burnt. The Keurig fits the work environment perfectly. Everyone can drink whatever they want, dark roast, blond roast, tea hot chocolate, etc. with never any waste or mess. I''m still looking for the perfect K-cup, most are not quite strong enough for my taste but at least no one is fighting over how to make the coffee or who will clean up the mess.

Eva-Dry E-333 Mini-Dehumidifier

THis is a great device to have in a motor home or boat cabin....you can charge it over and over and it lets you know in a glance if it needs a charge. It sucks up humidity like a sponge!

I bought two of these for fireproof/waterproof safes that we have. I read somewhere that an airtight safe (like one that is fire/water proof) can trap humidity and cause metal items to rust and other items (even paper) to mold. Seems like cheap insurance and they claim to last for 5 years!

My only complaint is that it is sometimes hard to tell what color those crystals are exactly..... No biggie, though just set a regular schedule to plug them in and don''t worry about it!

I love the concept of these items. I have them hanging in 2 small closets that always had a musty smell. They have been there now for several days, but the musty smell has not completely gone away. I seem to notice somewhat of a difference, and hope that after several more days the odor will be gone for good. Not sure how many days it takes to get rid of the odor. One closet has less of a musty smell than the other, so I think they do work, but do take longer than I expected to get rid of the initial odor. If the odor is completely removed then I recommend, but as of right now it is just too soon since some of the odor is still present. I will give it another week or so before I come to a conclusion. I am hopeful that they will help since I have been buying damp rid, and to have to replace damp rid it does get expensive, so if these work they will save me some money. Like I said I love the concept, but perhaps they have not been in the closet long enough yet. I hope this helps someone else who is interested in pruchasing these products. I have had them in my closet now for a week or so. One closet the smell is almost gone, and the other closet may take a few extra days since it does still smell musty. I am now ready to edit my review since I have had the product long enough to charge it by plugging it into the wall. In my opinion it really does not work that well, and I am disappointed. I purchased two of these, and initially was hopful that they were working, but the closets still have that musty smell, and they are very small guest closets in my foyer area. I could not recommend these to anyone.

Pros: The filter is the best I''ve ever used.

The water tester is also very nice and easy to use.

Cons: The pitcher design is very bad.

The filter rate is very slow. You have to fill up the pitcher in stages.

Overall I''m still very happy with the purchase.

Pouring with the top insert on is also very slow because they didn''t leave any room around it for air to replace the water pouring out. What I ended up doing is just leaving it off once it''s filled or putting the filtered water into a regular/larger pitcher.
