Speakman S-2251 Anystream Icon 8-Jet Save 41% Off

Speakman S-2251 Anystream Icon 8-Jet Showerhead in Polished Chrome
  • 64 spray channels
  • Spray adjusting contoured handle
  • Solid brass construction
  • 2.5 gpm flow control
  • Multiple finishes available

I received this information directly from Speakman.

The flow restricter on this unit is simply the small rubber o-ring down inside of the neck. To remove the o-ring use small needle nose pliers, a pair of tweezers or a bent paperclip. There is no need to remove or break any parts. Once you remove the o-ring you get full flow of the water.

I took mine out and realized that the water pressure was too great for my shower area and was able to drop the o-ring back down and push it back into place under the prongs. If you break out the filter like another review indicates you will not be able to put it back in.

Buy Speakman S-2251 Anystream Icon 8-Jet Now

I installed the Speakman Anystream Icon 8-Jet shower head this morning. Warningremoving the flow restrictor did prove more difficult than Speakman''s website will have you believe. In the new design, you cannot remove the collar without a special tool.

Here''s how to do it, you will need only needle nose pliers and a small-tipped yet sturdy flat head screwdriver.

1) Look into the neckyou will see white plastic with 4-prongs holding in a black o-ring.

2) You need to make sure you don''t push the assembly into the housing of the shower head so be sure to proceed with caution. Keep the neck/ball at an angle to make it harder for debris to fall downward (possibly clogging a jet).

3) Using needle nose pliers, grab each prong forcefully while pulling OUTWARD toward yourself. Pull out ALL four prongs (they will break off, that''s OK), if you''re lucky the whole assembly could fall into your lap. I was not lucky but an edge of the white plastic restrictor lifted up.

4) Remove the o-ring and discard.

5) You should be looking at a white plastic flow restrictor. Using the small-tipped flat head screwdriver gently pry the flow restrictor outward (towards you), once you have enough edge exposed, use the needle nose pliers to remove the restrictor.

6) If you are having trouble you could always use a sharp drywall screw and gently sink it right thru the center of the white plastic giving you purchase to pull it out with brute force. Again, just be careful so the assembly doesn''t fall inward.

The shower head is not very different than the Geissdorf 8 we are replacing. They are both a high quality and high volume shower head. The difference seems to be that when properly adjusted (not wide open) the Speakman''s jets are more defined while maintaining a larger spray pattern. The shower seems more forceful than the Geissdorf but still does not sting my wife''s sensitive skin.

I just easily self-installed without a wrench the S-2251 (8-jet) showerhead from Speakman, replacing a Speakman 5-jet. The 8-jet has a more sophisticated spray pattern, covering more area, so you don''t have to move around in the shower as much for water coverage. It has all of the power of the 5-jet but with the same water volume. I didn''t have to remove the controller-ring (to increase water pressure). It''s enough as is. I''m very pleased, for it creates as good a shower as you''d get at a good motel/hotel. Avoid the so-called "high-pressure" shower heads, for all they do is reduce the width of the stream to achieve greater intensity. The S-2251 is better (and luxurious). It also looks great and appears durable.

The good:

Lever rotates continuous 360 degrees, allowing to precisely set the intensity, regardless of your current water pressure. It''s got the full range from ultra-sharp needles, to a smooth rich waterfall.

High flow, if restrictor is removed (use needle nose pliers to pull it out, or make a hook out of paperclip, thread it through, then pull out with pliers holding both ends of the clip)

You can fine tune it to where the water flow doesn''t spread out, so you can get concentrated flow at any height.

The bad:

Can''t think of anything. Having tried half a dozen other "good" shower heads, I''m just glad I gave this one a shot.

What can I say this showerhead is amazing. Until purchasing this one, I purchased showerhead after showerhead only to be disappointed in the quality and flow. Now that I have this one, I am finally happy. It was definitely worth the money.

It is fairly heavy-duty as another review mentioned. I really like the fact the adjustment handle on the side of the showerhead is easy to move even with the water on. I highly recommend this showerhead!

Cuno Replacement Cartridges B Series Cuno Model B3 Filter Cart. .2 Mic

Cuno Replacement Cartridges B Series Cuno Model B3 Filter Cart. .2 MicI am using the 3M Cuno M2P Dual Cartridge setup, with two B3 filters. They work in parallel so as to provide greater flow, as opposed to a single unit. I am using this in a vacation home located on an island with a cistern, which is against the manufactures recommendations. It is intended for Marine and RV applications and is not recommended for Residential Use, so I am breaking the rules.

A single B3 setup is rated at 3.5GPM and a 15,000 gallon life expectancy. In a dual configuration they are rated at 16GPM which is a four fold increase flow capacity, and of course double the life at 30,000 Gallons. 3M also offers the smaller B2 cartridge rated at 2.5GPM and 7500 Gallons.

I have my house plumbed to supply all but toilets and outside faucets from this filter setup. I''m considering dropping the washing machine from that and supplying it with only cold primary sediment filtered water since the climate is very warm. This would remove some load on the filters, possibly as much as 3000 to 5000 gallons per year.

I am also using a GE Whole House Filter Housing with an FXWTC sediment filter upstream of the B3''s in hopes of further reducing the burden. This filter also has Carbon for odor and taste. I might change to a spiral wound filter for fear that carbon particles from the FXWTC are plugging the B3''s. I will dissect one to examine it for particles.

In conclusion I don''t feel I am getting the life expectancy I had hoped and they are expensive to replace. Though they do need replacing sooner that expected I will continue to use it, it''s just too valuable not to. I''m budgeting about $250 per 9 months of use. I can probably stretch this to a full year if as I indicated above I bypass the washing machine.

Berkey Light Water Filter System

Berkey Light Water Filter System with 2 Black Berkey FiltersMy family got one of these about a year or two ago and I think everyone appreciates it. This thing filters water better than I could have imagined. After drinking mainly from this, I can taste the chemicals (or whatever''s adding the funny taste) even in bottled water.

The biggest problem is it''s going to make having to drink other water quite painful (well, the filters and the intensely slow speed of this can be a pain sometimes too).

I''d long heard stories from homesteading friends and off-grid families about how great the Berkey purifiers are, and now I know first hand. This purifier is considered the absolute best for off-grid and outdoor applications it filers bacteria, chemicals, and all kinds of gunk completely out or to below detectable levels. You can even filter dirty pond and lake water into useable water.

We are renovating a rural house, and gutted it completely no electric, no nothing. We bought the Berkey so we would have water when we camped out in the house. It is awesome we pump some water out of the well with a portable pump and run it through the Berkey, and it is crystal clear and completely pure. Our well hadn''t been pumped in five years and it was *really* dirty still, perfect water once we filtered it through the Berkey. It''s remarkably quick too 4 gallons an hour. We even put our gravity-shower water through it, just cause we can.

We bought the Berkey Light model with the LEDs in the base. I originally thought that a row of LEDs in the base of my water purifier was silly, but I have to admit, it''s pretty cool. The LEDs are on rechargeable batteries and it makes a neat little nightlight.

My son bought a website called [..], several years ago that sells both the British Berkefeld and Berkey brand water filters. As a way of becoming familiar with the product I researched the field fairly thoroughly. Although we sell filters from other manufacturers I was most impressed by the features of the Berkey.

I lived in Mexico for the last four years and discovered that even the Mexicans don''t drink the water but depend on bottled water for their drinking and cooking water. I used the Berkey water filter with the Black Berkey elements as my exclusive source of drinking water. I found it to be an excellent investment.

No system is perfect; every one I have researched has advantages and limitations. The Berkey seems to have the most advantages and the fewest limitations. We know the manufacturer of the filter personally and their research is credible. They are based in the USA.

The features of the Berkey that make it my first choice are:

It is relatively low cost between $220 for the small Travel Berkey to $350 for the large Crown Berkey (I gave several of these units to local orphanages who were spending much of their limited finances on bottled water),

It requires little maintenance I would clean my filter elements about once every two months,

The effectiveness of their filter although they do not equal the water quality of reverse osmosis or distillation, both of which I have also used,

The quality is very high.

They require no plumbing or electricity to operate, making them an excellent source of water in an emergency or in Mexico where both water and electricity can be intermittant. In the small village where I lived the water and electricity is on ccassion interrupted. I live by a lake and would get water from the lake to supply my Berkey and then myself with drinking and cooking water. For those living "off the grid" it is an important feature. If you don''t think having an emergency source of drinking water is important just ask some of the folks stuck without it after Katrina hit New Orleans.

They are very durable, being made either of stainless steel or Lexan in the case of the Berkey Light,

They are portable which makes them convenient to use while traveling, which I do a lot of in Mexico or to take with while camping or any extended activity in the outdoors.

The same manufacturer makes a portable bottle version which has all the same characteristics of the large Berkey in a 24 oz squeeze bottle.

I am death on bottled water which is simply one of the most ridiculous ways of providing drinking water to people that has been devised. You have to admire the marketing however. They have people walking into a gas station convenience store complaining about the high cost of gas, who go to the counter and pay more per gallon for a bottle of water then for the gas, without blinking an eye at the irony.

Any way, that''s my two cents worth.

Our web site is [..] and we would love to get some feed back on the products we offer and anyone''s experience with them.

The elements seem good for filtering water, but will not remove flouride. The parts are all very flimsy especially the plastic tap, which seems like it will wear out quickly. The lid is just a nylon cap that slips over the top. For $209 I expected more. BEWARE, you will NOT get the 2 extra elements as stated in the description. I e-mailed a representative of this company, he nicely told me it was a mistake by Amazon that could not be changed. Take that for what it''s worth.

We purchased a Berkey for our household. We have well water that has slight odor and taste. The water from the Berkey tastes great!

Unfortunately, the black filters fell apart-in less than 3 months! After checking the website and finding they were defective, I sent an email and was sent replacement filters and returned the used, broken filters. We were able to enjoy our filtered water again! That was, up until a few days ago when I found the replacement filter broken (just as the previous filter was). This set also lasted about 3 mos. much less than the websites'' claim of 3,000 gallons of water!

The company has a new "prorated warranty" for the filters and will replace them, possibly for free based on the amount of time you have had them, after you fill out some paperwork and send your filters back. Mine would be free, but after this experience, I do not have much trust in the company. Who has time for this every few months?

They admitted their product was defective, replaced it-with yet another defective product, combined with a customer service phone number that no one answers and no returned phone calls, I feel ripped off! I just wish I could get a refund and return their products, but nope, I''m outside the 60-day limit and they will not allow a refund on the defective filters either!

Truly Disappointed!

Culligan RC-EZ-3 EZ-Change Replacement Cartridges, 500 Gallon
  • Reduces: bad taste and odor, chlorine taste and odor, particulate class III
  • Features twist-on and twist- off mechanism, quick-connect fittings double water shut-off
  • NSF Certified and a 5 year warranty
  • 6 month 500 gallon capacity
  • Filter change reminder sticker

Anybody who knows about the Culligan filter systems knows just how great they really are. The RC-EZ-3 is a great filter, removing most of the more common contaminants and chemicals from the water; resulting in nice, pure, fresh, sweet tasting drinking water and crystal clear pure ice cubes. We even use it for ALL of the water we give to our cat (family member). We wouldn''t be without it (and we live beneath the poverty level, so that''s just how important -and cost efficient -this water filter really is). If you don''t have one, I would absolutely HIGHLY recommend getting one. It''s only pennies per gallon to assure you that you aren''t ingesting contaminants, chemicals and parasites!

Easy to change filter and water that tastes good are my criteria. To that I would add compact size. I use this in my RV, and the RV filter pack came with the level 4 filter which is much more rotund in size. It might do a more thorough job in filtering some things, but not that I can tell. This filer is half the price & lasts a full season. We use either city water or water in our tanks that has been filtered and re-chlorinated for storage. [1 Tablespoon per 10 gallons.] Works well & makes great tasting coffee & tea.

I was very happy at first with this Culligan product until at about after 9 months, the filter bottom split open, flooding the kitchen floor and cabinet area. I thought it was a fluke thing and installed a new filter. The same thing happened at around 8 months with water everywhere. I called Culligan to report this and they said they have never heard about this problem??? The filter has a engineering flaw at the base where it is seemed together. I DO NOT recommend a Culligan water filtration system. Besides the water damage I have, they weren''t even willing to send a new filter or acknowledge that they have a design flaw. The Culligan representative told me to try the EZ-4 filter, but after reading reviews, I found that it''s happening with the EZ-4 filter as well. I have never had this problem with the GE filters, so I''m going back to them.

These are SO easy to change I''ve used the EZ-3 and EZ4 I didn''t really notice a difference in the taste or smell of the water between the two. What I did notice is that I''m not paying twice as much for it and it''s so much easier to change than my old Aquasana that the only effort involves the fact that it''s under the sink. If it were at shoulder level in the open, this would take 10 seconds to change. LOVE these filters, never stop selling them Amazon and Culligan!!

I needed a replacement for my Rainshow''r bath dechlorinator and found it here at Amazon with a price that was right for my budget. I noticed other reviewers complained about having to move the dechlorinator around manually. Hey, that''s what you are supposed to do. It''s not a remote control like product. How hard is it for you to get a current going in the water and letting that little plastic ball flow through the current. This is a great invention. The replacement ball has a great price. I''m happy with it.

Want Rainshow''r RB-3000 Crystal Ball Bath Dechlorinator Replacement Filter Pouch Discount?

Bought two, the housing is made of soft plastic that snaps together but comes apart easily, I ended up using twist ties to hold it together.

The ball hangs under the tap and water splashes over it, unlike other filters, there is no way to ensure that all of the water is filtered

I bought it as a cheap alternative to an in line filter and got exactly that, a cheap and less affective alternative.

Frigidaire FRA12EPT1 12,000 BTU Portable Heat/Cool Air Conditioner Save 13% Off

Frigidaire FRA12EPT1 12,000 BTU Portable Heat/Cool Air Conditioner with Remote ControlBe very careful not to tilt unit when transporting it if tilted it MUST sit for at least two hours before starting it. This unit has worked well continuously for two weeks. I put it on a sill-height table so that the water would drain well and the exhaust tube would be straight. My only complaints are:

1. The fan never goes off no matter what setting it is on (the compressor does go off, but not the fan).

2. When cooling, a lot of heat is generated in the exhaust hose an insulation sleeve would be nice.

3. The drain tube is way too short.

The machine was fairly easy to set up, and it does cool the room reasonably well, but I was expecting a heat pump....not so----according to the documentation received with the machine, there is an auxiliary heater, NOT a heat pump. We will see how well this heater works this winter. One other thing....the fan runs continuously, it does not shut off when the compressor kicks off, and it is fairly noisy.

Buy Frigidaire FRA12EPT1 12,000 BTU Portable Heat/Cool Air Conditioner Now

My ancient apartment has almost no ventilation throughout and is always ten to fifteen degrees hotter than outside. Those crazy summer heatwaves sometimes get my room into the high 90s and as high as 105-110! It is unbearable. I could no longer take the sleepless nights in the heat and picked up one of these units. I had to "ghetto rig" the exhaust hose up to the crank out style window using a ton of cardboard and duct tape. I have it sitting on a metal computer desk that is level with the window sill.

Pros:

-Will drop the temp of the room around ten-fifteen degrees and keep it there. While not as great a window mounted unit, I''ll gladly take 85 degrees over 95. The best performance I''ve seen so far is walking into my room @ 85 degrees and eventually getting it down to 70 (took 6 hours of continuous use).

-Remote.

-Timer so you don''t end up running it all night.

-Not as loud as I was expecting it.

Cons:

-Produces a ton of water via the drain. It took no time to fill up a five gallon bucket.

-Air blows straight up. I had to rig a piece of cardboard to deflect the cold air into the rest of the room instead of straight into the ceiling and back towards the hot exhaust tube.

-The exhaust hose always comes loose from the unit

-Exhaust hose is not as flexible as I was hoping.

A quick tip I''d like to provide is sealing up all the doors and windows leading into the room you have the unit working in. The edges around my door have huge gaps that let in tons of hot air from the rest of the apartment. Some foam sealant tape and a door sweep helped with those problems and contribute to keeping the room cool.

This unit has kept my kitchen down to 77 with its thermostat set on 72 during the summer''s first 90-plus days here. Not bad, since I knew I was buying a portable (and therefore less efficient) A/C instead of a window or through-the-wall unit.

The salesman told me it had an internal bucket to collect the water, and that it would shut off automatically when full. He said it didn''t have automatic evaporation of the moisture created by cooling and dehumidifying, which is common in modern portable A/C units, but I was fine with having an internal bucket and automatic shutoff. Just like the various dehumidifiers I''ve owned. However, after I''d paid a separate contractor to bring this very heavy unit to my home (the appliance store considered it "cash and carry" and therefore ineligible for their usual delivery service), I found out that it has no internal bucket. The owner has to attach a garden hose and use an external bucket, which will merrily overflow if the unit is left running with no one at home to empty that bucket as needed. Since the drain hose plug is lower than most windows, putting the hose out the window and letting it drain outside isn''t practical unless the A/C unit can be raised off the floor.

The air exhaust hose does just love to come loose, and duct tape is the answer. Also, you''ll need to either take the whole hose assembly out of the window so you can shut the window against heavy, wind-driven rain; or you''ll need to rig some sort of outside cover for the hose, because that hose leads down into the machine and it''s just begging to funnel rain inside.

Overall this unit meets my needs, but it wouldn''t if I had hoped to leave it running while away from home for long periods of time. I have no idea why Frigidaire thinks an external drip bucket is a great idea, or why they can''t come up with a better air exhaust hose design. From a major brand name, in an expensive machine, I expected better.

Want Frigidaire FRA12EPT1 12,000 BTU Portable Heat/Cool Air Conditioner Discount?

The FRA12EPT1 12,000 arrived quickly and in perfect condition. It took my electrician less than 45 minutes to hook it up. No additional wiring was necessary, just plug into any 3 prong household outlet. I was fearful that the unit would be noisy but it has surprised me by how quiet it is for such a powerful piece of machinery. From looking at the picture, I wasn''t sure if the air flow came out the top, sides,or both. It comes out the top. Local temperatures have ranged from 37-93 degrees so I have a pretty good idea of how heating and cooling are going to work and both have been adequate to keep my 12x16 sun porch comfortable. I will give this heater/cooler the highest recommendation!!

I live in central Florida and the water here is horribly hard and tastes terrible. I have owned this system before and was very happy with it''s performance so when I built a new home I purchased the same system. Lime deposits are virtually eliminated and the filtered water is refreshing and has little or no taste the way pure water is suppose to taste. Installation can be easy but the manufacturer only supplys connecting hardware for one type of connection so you may have to buy hardware as I did to install it under the sink into the existing water supply. I found all the hardware I needed at the Home Depot so it didn''t take anything special. I installed this system to city water, I can not say how it would perform with well water.

Bissell PowerSteamer PowerBrush Upright Deep Cleaner

Bissell PowerSteamer PowerBrush Upright Deep CleanerVery surprised at the cleaning results from this machine. I''ve used rug doctors in the past which cleaned well also but was tired of renting. Cleans as well or slightly better then the rental. Reviews are vg on several other sites. My carpets turned out fluffy and clean. This machine is easy to use and has several nice features. I I like the fact that you don''t have to attach the attachment hose and stair brush to seperate lines. Just twist a knob and your ready to go. All in one tank is great for ease of use. The motor is only 6.8 amps compared to others 12 amps. However you would never know this as it has great suction and power. Also it is realativly quiet. After cleaning, my carpets dried in about 4 hours.

Only negative would be that it left dust clumps on the carpet. Not that big of a deal as your suppose to vacuum again after cleaning when the carpet is dry anyway.

Overall I would rate this machine a 4.5. No machine is perfect at everything.

The Perfect Steam Professional Commercial Garment Steamer

The Perfect Steam Professional Commercial Garment Steamer is Designed for Professional Cleaning Services & Heavy-Duty Home Users!WeLL, if you are reading this then I know you must be a part of that community, turned into a tribe, a cult of people looking high & low for that perfect steamer that first didn''t cost an ARM & A Leg & part of your rent that you could actually afford and that actually works.

Well, your search is over; THIS IS IT.

Now for those of you who think $99 is too much-well you DO HAVE to SPEND some money for a generally well-made, thought out design.

The rest of us know that a lot of upright garmet steamers can & do cost $150-$400! so, let me tell you why I like this particular steamer.

#1: It relatively easy to set up. Just read the instructions (2) pages & look at the little diagrams..had I''d heeded my OWN Advice & not been so pig headed; I would of realize that the second adjustable bar was actually within the first one & it telescoped out to Any desired height that you want.

#2: There is an DEFINITE ON Switch that''s located at the base that you must step on it like a vaccum cleaner lever to turn the machine on.

#3: The handle is simply activated by pressing the word ''STEAM''. You will then see these little hash marks indicating the levels of steam that you want.

#4: It has a large water well size (1/2 gallon milk) but it is SO EASY TO lift up and fill-you don''t need to drag the whole machine over.

#5: It can last for 3 WHOLE Hours!, I kid you not!

#6: And Steam it does! It''s not one of those pitiful hand held models that spit and spit and run out in 10 minutes (Joy Mangano) And it''s not a handheld that although it make chuck & ruck it really only has uncontrolled steam for the first 2 minutes before it dies off (Shark-Euro Pro household clean steamer) and you have to wait before it can build up enough steam to actually be able to use it again & by then it''s run out of water.

And it''s not like that other Shark-Euro Pro Steam Press that will kill your arm because it''s so heavy & spits.

#7:The thing that I like the most is the adjustable steam features: It only delivered steam when & where you''d wanted it.

I took the most crumpled ALL COTTON shirt & I was amazed at seeing how easily the wrinkles melted away & this steamer got hot enough to allow for creases to made easily (there''s even a creasing tool).

But what I LIKE THE MOST was putting the little cloth boot on the head, dialing down the steam & using it over those ''princess'' skirts. It was like butter. Right over those little mini colored plastic rhinestones, colored stones, woods, all sort of nifty embellishment. And I still had more than 1/2 of the water tank filled!

I did 4 skirts, 1 blouse, 1 pr. of linen pants! All, in one session! This machine has just paid for itself in the time & money it would of cost me going to the dry cleaners!

I know I must sound ''giddy'' but it''s so nice to have something that ACTUALLY WORKS!

And, Oh1 I forgot to tell you that it has clips at the top & Bottom to hold the garment snugly eliminating the need for a ''press board'' but be cautioned! Until you get the hang of it, you might to use a ovennglove on one hand because it can really steam your garments hot! (a litte ouch after the pants!)

***Alhough this machine says that is made for by HoMedics; some of the newer models might have a label on the top & side of the box that reads "Home Touch"... if you''d look at the very bottom of the box on it''s south in, you will find the HoMedics brand listed).

I would so much like to recommend this product, but I am rather compelled to advise against anyone purchasing this device. When it works, it works very well. The very first order, I received a machine that simply did not work. Having to repackage and return it was hassle enough, but I went ahead and ordered another. The second machine did work as promised, but the on/off switch has been wonky from day one. Now it seems that I will be returning this second machine as the on/off switch has given up the ghost altogether. What a hassle! It is too bad, I could definitely chalk up the first to dumb luck, but when a second purchase brings another set of problems, it is a bit too much.

***6-month update** October 2011

I''m still very satisfied with the steamer. All below is still true. It still produces a strong flow of steam. The only problem is that it spits water droplets when steaming. Not a problem per se for me, it dries, but I can see if you had to wear a shirt in public right after steaming, it would show wet spots. Another reviewer tried using the cloth cover; that sounds like a good idea. I think I need to use vinegar to clean it to see if it helps. I use reverse-osmosis water from our in-house system.

March 2011 (below)

We''ve used our Tobi steamer for 3 years, but needed an upgrade. I wanted not to drink from the water fountain, but from the fire hydrant (not literally ;). I looked and looked for something with the steam output Tim Taylor would be proud of. And, I found it with this garment steamer. The key words are: "pressurized steam." I just opened the box and used it for the first time. I love it. Compared to the Tobi this thing really melts the wrinkles-fast. It has many nice features.

The pluses:

1. steam, steam, steam (controlled steam output)

2. on/off steam button

3. solid base (not going to tip over)

4. nice-sized water tank

5. compartment for attachments

6. good height

7. automatic shut off I can''t tell you have many times we''ve left the Tobi on, now no worries.

Minuses (really minor):

1. didn''t care for the garment "hanger." But, it still has a hook to hang your clothes hanger on, when you''re done with the front, just flip it over to do the back.

2. some plastic parts

So far so good. I''ll try to add an update in 60 days.

This is a great steamer that does the job it''s supposed to do. I love that I''m able to turn the steam on and off on demand and change the level of "pressurized" steam that is used depending on the material. It comes with some handy tools...I use the creasing tool all the time on my cotton uniform pants and they look like I ironed them. The clips on the hanger attachment are a little weak in the gripping department so a very heavy pair of pants might slip out of the clothes pins...This is so minor compared to the wonderful job the steamer does. The hanger attachment comes off so you can use your own hanger if you want. The water is heated very quickly and you have steam within 1-2 minutes, so it''s very convenient to use even when you''re in a little bit of a rush. I am 5''11" so I sometimes hang longer items over the door to steam, but for the average height person the telescoping pole will work just fine. I am so happy I found this gem and have not had my iron out since I purchased this. I''ve recommended it to all my friends.

I am an avid steamer as one gets instant results with the effort they put in. How many other things in life can one say that about? I loved this steamer when I first got it. It is incredibly well made with metal and strong plastic parts. It is so easy to assemble. And it generates a lot of steam. But it spit like crazy when I first got it. I did read the manual to make sure I did everything correctly, and I have been steaming for years, but it still spit constantly when I used it. I had done my research carefully on this steamer and knew many people liked it because it didn''t spit (a common problem with steamers). So I gave the steamer the benefit of the doubt and sent it back to Amazon and got a replacement.

And I fell in love with the replacement. It worked just as it should. The wrinkles fell away easily and with little effort. There was no spitting, no gasping, no wheezing the steamer continued to chug along as it should, just generating pure, unadulterated steam.

But within a few days, the steamer started spitting again. Not huge spitballs, but little spurts. However, that can ruin a silk shirt or a delicate garment. Nothing had changed on how I was steaming, the water I was using, the type of clothes I was steaming. I hadn''t changed my diet, the type of music I was listening to, or my Facebook page (just kidding, I don''t have a Facebook page). I lower the level of steam I am using to the minimum but it doesn''t stop spitting. Fast forward a few days later, and the steamer is now spitting at a more constant rate. So I put one of the cloth "hoods" that come with the steamer so the steam is not going directly on the clothes. Magically, there is enough steam coming through the hood to get the wrinkles out of my clothes but the hood is catching the extra spitballs. I go to take the cloth hood off and I notice it has marks all over it where the steam nozzles were. I remove it, and the steam head face plate has burn marks all over it as if it was handle having the cloth hood on it. But it''s an accessory that comes with the steamer the steamer can''t handle it''s own accessories?

So my love affair with my steamer ended. And it only has been two short weeks...

  • Economically priced drop-in cartridge provides quick and easy filter change
  • Enhanced dirt holding capacity for extended cartridge life
  • Endurawrap design traps sediment to prevent plugging of carbon block media
  • Manufactured entirely from FDA-compliant materials

I purchased a big blue whole house filter about a year ago. My intent was to remove both sediment and chlorine from the city water supply. After the included filter became clogged and lowered water pressure I purchase another filter with a 5 micron level and it lasted only a couple months. This filter, like the original, is 10 micron so it doesn''t get clogged up as fast. Lasts about six months in a two person home. All smell of chlorine is removed and my water softener and R/O systems work great. For the price it would be nice if it lasted a bit longer but it''s worth not having your shower smell like a public swimming pool.

Like every Pentek filter I have used, this one does exactly what it is supposed to do. Before spending several hundred dollars on a "whole house" carbon filter, I tried the Pentex Big Blue. It is used to remove the chlorine city supplied water ahead of a water softener. Based on the filters rated capacity, the chlorine in the water supply and our water usage the filter should work for 6 months.

Before purchasing this replacement for the original filter (same brand and model) I tested the water after the filter for chlorine. The original filter had been in service 6 months and was still removing all the chlorine.

Over time, mold and bacteria can grow in a carbon filter. With the Pentek filter, the housing is sterilized and a new filter is installed every 6 months. A "whole house" system goes 3 to 5 years, depending on make and model, before it is serviced. On this issue, the choice is simple.

Economics favor the Pentek solution to the whole house solution as does sanitation. Three performance issues determine if the Pentek is a good solution. Flow With a shower and a dishwasher running, the pressure drop across the filter is less than 1 PSI. At full flow will the filter remove the chlorine in the water supply? Using the shower plus dishwasher criteria, chlorine removal was very effective (the test was done with the dishwasher filling.). Longevity no loss of chlorine absorption was noted at the very end life of the filter.

This is a very good water filter. We are using it as a Whole house water filter. The water is clean and tastes great. One thing that should be included with purchasing the filter is the gasket that needs to be replaced every time the filter is replaced. Also remember to use silicone lubricant as it helps to seal and keep the gasket in place.

I upgraded my earlier whole house filter to this larger filter/element. My house is piped with a separate water system serving my kitchen area only, and I wanted an element that would easily last a year between replacements, which this does. It is a quality element that has low pressure drop and removes chlorine taste and not just sediment, which is what I wanted. Sediment only filters can be purchased for a lot less than this type filter element. On my first replacement I found that the O-ring that seals the element housing to the pipe manifold had swollen and was far too large in circumference to be re-used. It would not fit back in the groove in order to tighten the housing back to the manifold. Fortunately I had plumbed my new filter with by-pass valves that allow water to continue flowing downstream while replacing the element. So I was able to continue supplying water to my kitchen until I found the replacement O-ring. To my surprise, the big box store that sells the filter does NOT stock the replacement O-rings. I had to go online to find a source and order [I ordered 3 so I would have one on hand while ordering future replacements]. Needless to say, this replacement of the element took several days to conclude. One other caution: do not open the plastic sealed element until you are ready to install it. The cartridge element can absorb odors and fumes from its surroundings and transfer this taste to your water. ALWAYS get a new O-ring when you get ready to replace this element.

This is a good product provided you do not have a lot of water usage. Our home has a well with a high iron content. Keep in mind that this product is for particles, and will not help with odor. We have ours set up as a whole house filter and it provides good filtration. The manufacturer recommends 3 months or 30,000 gallons. We usually get between 2 and 2 1/2 months. Make sure to order O-rings. GE part # WS03X10039. Also, do not over tighten the cartridge holder. It does not take a lot of torque to get good seal.

This FXHTC filter worked great for the filtering aspect, but for our household the pressure drop was too much. Our pre-filter pressure is 60 psi. With this filter in place, showers were the problem -water barely sprayed out of a standard 3 GPM shower head, & god forbid anyone else happened to be using a faucet or running the dishwasher etc. This filter would work great if your water comes in at higher pressures but (as far as I know) 60 psi is a fairly typical pressure. I switched back to the $14 FXHSC filter which has a far less noticeable pressure drop.

The FXHSC is considered a sediment filter. The more expensive FXHTC reduces chlorine and sediment. We live in the Florida Keys and water is piped to us via aqueduct. Chlorine is great against bacteria and mildew but if your skin or airways are sensitive to it, this may be the right filter for you. Reducing the chlorine in the water we wash and bathe with by using FXHTC''s for the last year has noticeably helped with dry, itchy skin and scalp, plus chlorine odors. Maybe it''s my imagination, but my clothes are lasting longer.

Venta Airwasher -Charcoal, 554436Yesterday, the motor in my Venta unit began making a grinding sound after nearly six year of flawless operation. I called Venta customer service this afternoon. After wating a rather long time on hold, I was connected to a very pleasant man, George, who asked me to put the phone next to the motor so he could hear the noise. I did, and he did.

Without a moment''s hesitation, George said he would have a new motor shipped at no cost to me, and that delivery could be expected within 5 7 business days.

It''s always a pleasant surprise to find a company standing unquestioningly behind their warranty. If only more understood that''s all it takes to create loyal customers.

Update on September 17, 2007:

I''m pleased to report , my review, below, is still true in every detail. This product has been a terrific investment.

*****

I live in a desert~like New York City apartment and have owned my Venta Air Washer for almost exactly two years. During this time it has been operating on the "high" setting, 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The Air Washer lives up to all of the manufacturer''s claims.

The Air Washer is a product of fanatical German engineering, over~design and bullet~proof construction, which accounts for it''s rather grotesque price. However, I have owned products of inferior engineering and construction that have had to be replaced after one or two seasons. It is obvious I will own my Air Washer for many years to come.

The principles of operation could not be more simple (it''s like a High School science project developed into a luxury product):

1) A fan blows room air straight down into a reservoir of water.

2) In this reservoir of water, a few dozen disks are slowly rotating to multiply the surface area that is wet.

3) Because you are blowing air onto a enlarged wet surface you are multiplying the rate of evaporation.

4) Humidified air is exhausted out of the Air Washer through vents in the side.

THIS WORKS.

On the "high" setting the water reservoir needs to be refilled daily in my apartment (this is highly dependent on your local weather or heating cycle). I end up carrying a couple gallons of water to the device or carrying the device to the bathtub and then back to its spot in my livingroom.

The design of the Air Washer is "neutral." It sits unobtrusive and un~noticed in a corner. It is nearly silent. It is built like a tank: It would be a challenge to damage this product on purpose.

Why not Five Stars?

The Venta Air Washer consumes expendables. You need a water treatment solution to prevent mineral deposits forming on the rotating disks mentioned above (weekly). AND you need a periodic cleaning solution to remove deposits that develop pn the bottoms and walls of the reservoir. I have tried operating the Air Washer without these things. They are required for optimal performance.

Like the device itself, the Venta treatment and cleaning solutions work perfectly and simply. But, THE EXPENDIBLES ARE EXPENSIVE! Assume youy will spend US$50.00 per year.

Also, you would think that for a company selling a FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR humidifier, the Venta aroma therapy scents would smell a bit less like a Central American bordello (not that I''ve ever seen one of those). Skip these even if they''re free samples.

If you want the very best at any price, buy this product.

I am not affiliated with either the manufacturer or Amazon.

Having used a Venta humidifier in Germany several years ago, I was delighted to see that they are selling in the U.S. now as well. I had a case of sticker shock though, as they are now much more expensive than their older models used to be, but since I used to be very happy with them, I decided to go ahead and buy one anyway.

All Venta humidifiers belong to the class of cool mist humidifiers, which in my opinion is the best principle, as you don''t "over-humidify" the room. Normally a cool mist humidifier has a filter that sucks up water from the tank and a fan blows air through the filter. Thus the water evaporates into the air and increases its humidity.

The difference in the Venta humidifier is that it doesn''t use filters, but two arrays of plastic disks that rotate through the water. A fan on top of the device sucks suckes air through those disk arrays and the water drops that were lifted up from the tank evaporate.

One of my major gripes with other cool mist humidifiers is that the fan is very noisy even on the lowest setting. The Venta fan is pleasantly quiet. I keep the device in my bedroom at night on the lowest fan speed and I don''t notice the fan at all.

While it is true that you won''t have to replace filters every few months, you WILL need to replace the water treatment additive at every cleaning cycle (usually 10-14 days), so there ARE some maintenance costs. The LW44 comes with two fillings of the additive, afterwards you have to spent about USD 16-18 for a bottle of the water treatment which will last for 12 cleaning cycles (4-6 months). Venta also sells a cleaning solution, but according to their manual you won''t need it in most cases. In any case the cleaning solution costs about $10 and is only good for one cleaning, so using it frequently will really drive the maintenance costs up.

All in all this is indeed the best humidifier that I ever had. I''m not giving it five stars, because I still think the price is outrageously high.

Buy Venta Airwasher -Charcoal Now

After living with a low end humidifier that did little and made too much noise for the bedroom I decided I would get the best humidifier at any cost. That was three years ago and at that time the Venta fit that bill. My initial impression of the Venta was very good the idea of a fan blowing over wet disks seems pretty ingenous and solves problems like airborn bacteria, mineral deposits, and gives the machine some air cleaning capabilities. Right from the start I was surprised how poorly it humidified the air checked with a high quality hygrometer it only raises a medium sized bedroom''s humidity by about 5% at maximum speed and is useless at lower speeds. Furthermore, at maximum speed the device sounds like an unusually loud room fan which is difficult to sleep with. People talk about the device being quiet at the slowest speed which it was but this setting is ineffective at humidifying even a small room based on my readings with a hygrometer.

Now I''ve lived with this unit for 3 years and have encountered further problems that have finally driven me to admit this whole purchase was not a good idea.

The first problem with this unit is that the "air washing" capability results in the machine getting dirty... but unlike almost every other kind of humidifier this dirt is everywhere on the machine throughout the disks, all over the fan, all inside surfaces. On the inside surfaces (which have lots of hard to clean nooks) this dirt is similar to a sticky wax and on the wet surfaces its more like a slime. I spend about 30 minutes struggling to clean it each time I try before I feel I''ve done an OK job. The Venta cleaner additive doesn''t work that well on the disks, doesn''t do anything for the waxy sludge on the housing because it doesn''t touch it, and the unit has so many difficult to clean parts that it''s nearly impossible to get all the dirt. I even tried putting the non-electrical parts in the dishwasher which doesn''t work either.

The second problem is that this device can "easily" generate very loud noises to the point that I have to shut the machine off because I''d rather be tormented by dry air than this devices groanings. I say easily because it is possible with enough cleaning and fiddling to keep this device operating at the "merely loud" fan noise that it had when I got it. But after 3 years this is becoming very difficult to accomplish. There are two possible sources for this noise. First, the gears themselves operate by having plastic tabs press against the gears in an undulating fashion. When clean this usually happens quietly... but when even slightly dirty these tabs can make a loud studdering noise that is caused by two materials not moving against each other smoothly. If you''ve ever heard your car''s windshield wipers studder across your windshield instead of smoothly glide over the glass you know what this sounds like. It''s not quite that loud, but when you''re trying to sleep it might as well be. The second source for this noise is imbalance in the fan. With a little dirt on the leading edge of the fan the fan seems to be aerodynamically or statically out of balance and makes an undulating groan about every 4-6 seconds the way an old fan can be expected to. On a $15 room fan it would be the kind of noise that might cause you to throw it out and get a new one. On a humidifier this expensive?

Finally the device is sensitive to being assembled in just the right way or it will make the noises I''ve mentioned above much more easily. Normally you just put the top on the device and you''re in business. But with these noises you start pressing on different parts of the top to try to shift the plastic pieces into better alignment. Once you press in just the right way and the device stops making noise you slowly remove the pressue and 99% of the time the noise comes back. If you push and prod you are sometimes able to get the machine to be quite, but often you have to unlatch everything, reseat the fan assembly and start over. That gets old fast when its 3am and the machine just starts making a really annoying noise that wakes you up.

I call my 3 year journey with this Venta machine a battle because I''ve tried tons of things to help compensate for this machine''s problems. The initial problem of low humidification is because the device sets up its own recirculating airflow that''s limited to an area fairly local to the device. The humidity within one foot of the device is very good according to my hygrometer. The humidifier''s fan sucks this air back into itself repeatedly. By placing another fan to the side of the Venta to provide room circulating air current you can get an additional 3-5% humidity 5-7 feet away from the device (like where you''re head is in bed). Of course now you''ve got another source of noise in the bedroom.

To compensate for the gear noise and the dirt problems I''ve tried adding all kinds of things to the water that might act as either a cleaner or a lubricant or both. I''ve tried double quantities of the Venta additive, a variety of soaps, various aeromatic oils in quantities where the oil''s lubricant properites might help. Really nothing is effective.

In the end I have to say that I''m most dissapointed by this machine''s price. The unit is nothing more than a large hunk of plastic with fan on top of it. If it was made in China this unit would cost $39.95. But its made in Germany by a company that seems to be over charging far beyond what the added expense of German manufacturing and poor exchange rate would explain. Being German made I was expecting that the unit be better engineered. The machine is built well nothing has broken in 3 years of constant operation. Its weaknesses are not structural. There are simple ways of eliminating the problems I''ve listed. Fan noise can be reduced by using a larger, slower moving fan with more and better bearings (something that should be expected in a $500 device). The gear mechanism that generates so much noise should be replaced with a non-contact device like a magnetic drive similar to high grade aquarium pumps. A top of the line magnetically driven pump costs 1/3 of what this Venta costs so magnetic mechanisms should easly have been considered for a $500 device. That these obvious techiques... or any others... are not employed on a device of this cost in the face of its inherent problems is criminal.

99% of the time I recommend spending the extra money (even if it''s 5-10 times more) and getting a machine built the right way. This machine is not built the right way it''s just 5-10 times as expensive. I don''t believe anyone is building a humidifier the right way at this time. Given this I would have to recommend one of the 4+ star devices for $50-70 steam seems to be the best for avoiding white powder and bacteria. I''ve purchased two Honeywell HWM450 steam humidfiers for $55 each. Their ability to humidify is incredible. In the same bedroom with 50% humidity the Vental might get it up to 55%. The Honeywell can get it to 70% if you want and has digital controls for setting the exact humidy you want (although they don''t work that well). Overall any shortcomings of the $55 Honeywell are not related to it''s main function humidifying. The same can''t be said for the VENTA.

The Venta LW44 Air Humidifier is as advertised.

First, it is exceptionally easy to set up, operate, and maintain. It took me less than five minutes to take the humidifier out of the box and place it in position in the front hall. Another couple of minutes were spent reading the few directions that tell you to add the cleansing ingredient included in the box to the water to make sure the fans function effectively. I filled up the tank, turned on the machine, and walked away.

Second, daily maintenance is a snap. I take off the cover in the morning and evening and fill the machine to capacity, put the top on, and walk away. At the end of almost two weeks I brought the machine to the sink, emptied it, rinsed and wiped it out, filled it, added cleaner, placed it back in position, and turned it on again. This might have taken five minutes or so.

Third, the machine quietly puts a couple of gallons of water each day into the air. The Venta is exceptionally quiet and extremely effective. I''m not sure how much cleaner the air is, but we are no longer sneezing from breathing dry, dusty air.

Summary, the Venta LW44 is exceptionally easy to set up, operate, and maintain. The technology of rotating disks works as advertised to add moisture to a dry environment. The air seems to be cleaner, but I can''t attest to the extent or degree of improvement beyond saying that we are breathing easier.

Others have discussed the high price of this machine, but if it lasts ten years as advertised, it is well worth the purchase price. Cleaning solution is a modest cost I am willing to pay to keep the machine running effectively. Highly recommended.

It works as expected with a modicum of care, but its retail price is rather high. However, I have found that I do not need to buy the expensive additive they sell. Instead once or twice a week I dump it our, wipe the inside of the tank, refill it with water and put just a very tiny amount of hand dish washing detergent in with the water. The big advantage for me of using cheap dish detergent is that I can dump it frequently without buying lots of their expensive additive, so it never gets very dirty.

Their additive contains "surfactants" they say, but so does any detergent. Simple physics, actually: without a little surfactant water tends to bead-up on the plastic disks without wetting them as it should -but the surfactants found in Joy dish detergent do the job equally well. Only trick is be careful to use MUCH less dish detergent than you would to wash dishes, because you do not want suds! Also, ONLY add detergent after dumping, not when just adding water because detergent doesn''t evaporate.

In three winters of use the only problem I''ve had with mine was a small crack on the upper housing which I fixed with tape and it still works OK.

Unlike some users I''ve never seen much dirt accumulation in the water, because I live in a modern condo so my air has very little dust in it. And because I dump the tank at least once a week, I''ve not seen that much accumulation of mineral deposits either.

Gaggia 90901 Platinum Swing Up Automatic Espresso Machine Save 19% Off

Gaggia 90901 Platinum Swing Up Automatic Espresso Machine with Milk IslandPurchased from Whole Latte Love / IMPORTIKA in March 2009 STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY

After about 5 months of usage the machine started leaking water from underneath. I called in for warranty service and was advised to drop off the machine to my local authorized repair center. The repair center has replaced parts and charged $100.00 stating this is not warranty covered. They have never informed me until after the fact. Apart from that, they also damaged front panel, all scratched up and said that I did it during time I was using it. I contacted Whole Latte Love and GAGGIA distributor IMPORTIKA. Importika denied warranty, said it was normal for any superautomatic machine to leak water after few months part of wear and tear. I was also told that it might have been due to me incorrectly attaching milk island. I don''t own or ever used milk island. Tech could not believe when I told him that.

Importika/Whole Latte Love initially said they would look into the matter and never did anything, never contacted me back.

-The machine makes good espresso. Steamer is rather weak and the frothing attachment is horrible. If you are serious coffee drinker, like lattes, know anything about microfoam and would like to make it with this machine''s steaming ability FORGET IT (no, it''s not that I don''t know how). You can make hot milk with some foam on the top.

-Coffee beans container is not air tight around the inlet for ground coffee, as a result air gets it and contributes to coffee getting stale if left for longer period.

-Click wheel works good.

-Constantly need to refill water container, empty drip tray

-Only 10.5 g max ground coffee per cup. Perfect shot has 7 g. So not even close to make 2 shots once, unless you hit button twice to make 2 separate shots.

WARNING: I would strong avoid buying any espresso machine (or anything for that matter) from Whole Latte Love or Importika (pretty much same company). Do your own research. Very deceptive business practices. They would not even post my review. Ordinary review, nothing inappropriate or anything like that. Also, Whole Latte Love advertised full warranty (not limited) but would not honor the agreement.

Well we tried the Gaggia Titanium and we did not like it at all (too loud, too big, odd settings).. This one, the gaggia Swing up is PERFECT! We can do Ristretto (tiny concentrated espresso). Noise level is very good. and the machine is too big at all! The only small minus is that the water tank coud have been a bit bigger but it would mean a bulkier machine (can''t have it all). Access to the tank and the coffee dumps is very easy (much easier than the titanium model). I highly recommend it! oh I almost forgot the milk island attachment is SO good too! THe milk is froth to perfection, easy to do a creamy hot chocolate with it in less than a minute!

After using a semi-automatic espresso maker for a few years with ok but inconsistent results, I put it away in the garage and started just going to the local coffee shop for my latte fix. Recently, I decided to try a super-automatic espresso maker for the quality and convenience. I read a lot of reviews, and thought about different manufacturers and models, including Jura Capresso, but eventually I decided on this Gaggia after watching videos of it in action on another website (Wholelattelove).

The machine was easy to set up and I was making espresso in no time. Ater using the Gaggia Swing Up for a few weeks all I can say is WOW. This is one product that lives up to its billing. No buyer''s remorse on my part.

There are a lot of really good features on this model but the most important thing to me is the quality of the espresso. I''m not exaggerating when I say it makes absolutely perfect, beautiful espresso every time. I''ve used Lavazza Super Crema, Lavazza Qualita Oro, and Illy espresso beans so far and all have made great espresso with gorgeous crema. This machine also makes a great long coffee for the travel mug.

The steam wand is easy to use with a frothing pitcher and thermometer because the wand swivels, making it easy to get the pitcher out from under it. I liked the milk island at first but cleaning it is a little tedious and it started to leak after I mistakenly put the pitcher on the stand without the plastic housing. Oops, my fault. So now I just use the steam wand exclusively and I''m still completely happy.

The menu is fairly intuitive and it is programmable if you choose. I also like the ipod-like wheel but the next model up, the Platinum Vision, has a touch screen which some people might like better. Another thing I like is that the machine swivels making it easy to put in the beans even though I have the machine on a counter with a cabinet above it -this swivel feature does not make the machine unsteady or wobbly at all. So far, cleaning has been easy and the machine tells you when it is time to empty the grounds drawer and put in water. One other feature worth mentioning is the tray which lifts and lowers electronically -at first I didn''t think I would use this much but it is nice to be able to raise the tray closer to the espresso dispenser when using espresso cups and lower it when using a mug.

Yes, it is a lot of money to spend on an appliance but I''ve already saved money by not going to my local coffee shop a few times a week so I figure I''ll eventually get a good chunk of my investment back. Now if I could just stop drinking more than one latte per day...

From a Mechanical Engineer who bought one:

I bought one without being able to see it first. First mistake, gearing, grinder and all machine parts are plastic. So, they wear with little usage and then screw-up. If I was able to see one, I would have never bought it. I looked at other design features and they too were poorly designed like the chutes the grinds have travel thru. You don''t want to buy GAGGIA! Get yourself a simpler machine that works manually.

In not quite 2 years, I have had 3 major breakdowns to the grinder, pump and dispensing solenoid. Each time you must pay for your own shipping, at least $50 each way, warrenty or not. I guarrantee if you buy this machine, you will have to have periodic major repair work that is expensive.

Want Gaggia 90901 Platinum Swing Up Automatic Espresso Machine Discount?

I''ve had my Gaggie Platinum Swing for around two years now. When it works well, it''s great. But it is very finicky as to coffee beans and often will grind a brew''s worth and then throw it out, unbrewed, saying Fill Container With Coffee. The machine is clean and there''s lots of coffee beans in it.

This happens less with Lavazza beans, but even with them. Support claims the beans are "oily", but the real problem seems to be the design.

Avoid this machine unless you''re willing to fiddle with the machine a lot and waste 1/3 of your coffee beans.

This is my third Gaggia/Saeco super-automatic. Next time I''m switching to a different brand that doesn''t suffer this problem!

GE FQROMF Reverse Osmosis Membrane Save 32% Off

GE FQROMF Reverse Osmosis Membrane
  • The GE FQROMF RO Membrane produces healthier, better-tasting drinking water and cooking water
  • The GE SmartWater FQROMF Reverse Osmosis Membrane improves flavor of hot and cold beverages including coffee, tea, and juices
  • The GE UltraPlus FQROMF Reverse Osmosis System Membrane has the new "Twist & Lock" technology making changes easy and with no tools required!
  • Replace the FQROMF every 1-2 years

Excellent system and it does all that is advertized however, the price of the membrane at Home Depot and such make it almost worthwhile to buy bottled water. If I''d not found this product on AMAZON, I would have switched back because it would cost per year just for this item not to mention the other two filters. It''s a very good system but GE have the product owners by and charge a rediculous price that went up another in one year.

We have smelly, dirty water in Hemet, CA, and this filter provides us with clean water for cooking, and for the ice maker. Ya, hook this water filter to your ice maker for clean, clear, great tasting ice. I don''t recommend the water from this filter for all your drinking water because you should be drinking water with minerals. Absolutely pure water will leach minerals out of your body, so it''s best to use it for ice and cooking, usually.

We use the GE filter for our water here in Arizona which is the worst water we''ve ever had excepting Florida. After reverse osmosis, its actually better than bottled water, missing the plastic taste.

The issue with this filter, and GE''s systems, is the high cost of the filters, and that even with the ridiculous price, they are generally not in stock anywhere. Often you can find the osmosis filter, but not the charcoal filters, but frequently its the other way around. Plan on $200-$300 per year for replacement filters from GE, which means sometimes you can by a new system for the price of the filters during sales.

This filter goes in the center spot of the three canisters, and be very careful about installing the drain plug replacement that comes with it. The drain hose is marked drain hose, but you may not see it because the picture in the document is not complete and its probably darker where you are working, although it comes in every major language plus some, it tells none of them a complete story.

Of course Amazon gets it to the door on time and easy, but the pricing is higher than you will find on the net, and if you are in a state where Amazon is charging tax you will do better elsewhere, you might have to buy 2 for a free shipping offer elsewhere, but having them on hand is not a bad idea since when they start to go it will be right before a Christmas Party or Thanksgiving or Baby Shower or Wedding.

Whole filter system works very well; this being the major needed part for periodic maintenance.

In the end, the cost of operating the system is about the same as buying water at the grocery store;

but at least you do not need to lug those jugs home.

Granite Gold Granite Gold Polish GG0043

Granite Gold Granite Gold 24 ounce Polish GG0043After reading all of the great reviews i thought this would be a great product. i have black granite counter tops and this is one of the worst products i have used. i actually cant think of anything that did a worse job. there is no shine. i even thought maybe i did not use it correctly and have used it several times and still no shine and counter tops look dull. i almost feel as if all of the reviews were left by loving family members of manufacturer.

I have tried many granite cleaners and this is the best. The counters are so sleek and shiny that my cats keep sliding when they jump on them. The daily cleaner keeps the counters streak and spot free and the polish takes very little effortmy 9 year old loves to use it.

I just wanted to let everyone know that this product is Amazing. I used the Granite Gold Daily Cleaner first and put this polish on. The countertops look like they did when they were first installed. Not to mention how easy it is to use, spray it on and wipe off with a paper towel. Give it a try trust me you wont be disappointed! Great job on a great product!

I have never been so impressed with a cleaning product! This Granite Polish has made my Emerald Pearl Granite look like the day it was installed. It feels like a car does just after it has been waxed! Now that I have used this I am going to throw out all my old granite cleaners and polishes!

First off, I find all the positive 5-star reviews on this product a little suspect. They all sound like, "Wow, what a great product! I also use the cleaner." Maybe they got some of their employees to write some reviews and made sure to mention the cleaner.

Anyhow, I bought it anyways and I''m fairly pleased. It goes on easy, has a slight lemon smell to it, and then buffs of pretty easily. My 5K worth of brazilian green granite counter tops are about a year old and they were starting to look a bit dull. Just weren''t as shinny as they used to be. This product definitely shines them up and gives them a smooth feeling, also making them easier to clean and keeping food from sticking. It''s certainly not a glossy armor all like shine, so I can see why some people with very dark counter tops might not be impressed. But overall I was satisfied with the easy application and the noticeably improved look of my granite. Unfortunately I don''t have any products to compare to.

Very important, don''t forget to seal your granite first, and don''t use the cheap stuff for this. I picked up some Miracle Sealants Superseal from home depot for about $40. Pricey, but seals really well. Liquids bead up and can''t penetrate the stone. You have to do this about once a year.

Hope that helps.

  • Outside Diameter (Inch): 4-1/2
  • Material: Iron Reduction Media

What can I say this filter does the job. It reduces the stains and discoloration from iron and manganese. There are cheaper filters out there, but they aren''t anywhere near as effective nor do they have the capacity (in gallons) that this one does. Good filter; does a good job.

If this is in fact what I need then it is great. But, it came with no instructions. So, I don''t know for sure that it is what I needed, or that I installed it properly. (Though, it is more or less self explanatory.)

I bought these from my local vacuum repair and sales dealer. What a waste of money. Every single bag has ripped, just touching it to see if it was going to rip again it ripped. Each bag has blown open at the seam, which is a huge problem since I didn''t realize it and now the interior of my vacuum bag is covered in dog hair. Lovely. Do yourself a favor and don''t buy this brand. Other people have had the same issues. Try the Eureka brand.

I own a small cleaning company and i go thru a lot of F&G bags . I bought 5 packages ( 9 bags each ) . It was immediately obvious that these bags are defective the problem is the intake sleeve some fail at glued seam , others fail along sleeve''s edge . From the first package 4 out of 5 bags failed . I opened the second package 2 out of three failed . I was able to return 2 packages , but the rest I threw away . Unless the producer fixes the defective sleeve this product is to be avoided .

These bags have a real nice tight fitting gasket and thick paper . Can over fill without any surprises. Will buy again when needed.
