Mr. Heater MRHF273400 Buddy Portable LP Gas Heater Save 12% Off

Mr. Heater MRHF273400 Buddy Portable LP Gas HeaterThis heater is excellent and the perfect fit, for a certain set of requirements.

If you have electricity, use an electric heater. Don''t bother with the hassel of propane. The cost isn''t too different and the hassel factor is much higher than electricity.

I also don''t recommend using the small canisters. That''s an inconvinient way to go as well.

BUT. If you don''t have power and need a cheap, safe heat source that you can run while you sleep, this is the best one made. Buy the 12'' hose, place a 20lb propane tank outside, and run this heater all night with just a small crack in a window or door (just in case!). You will get > 100 hours of heat out of a tank of propane! Less than a buck to run it all night.

Highly recommended under the right circumstances.

I use this heater when I camp in my trailer, and it works great especially when used in conjunction with a 20-lb. propane tank. If you do use a 20-lb. tank, however, I STRONGLY recommend that you use the fuel filter (around $10 and yes, this is mentioned in the manual) and also that you always close the propane tank shut-off before turning off the Portable Buddy so that all the gas is burned out. Why? I went through two units that started shutting themselves off about a year after purchase before I found out that oily residue starts building up within the heater when the previous two suggestions are not followed. Even when I tried cleaning it out (I did a complete disassembly), it was not successful unless the control unit and the regulator are replaced as well. I did find a lot of oily mess within contol unit area, but couldn''t get it all so it''s just as easy to replace the entire unit. What happens is that when you turn on the unit, it seems to work; but, as the oily residue works its way up to the flame part, it will start going out on its own the time it takes to go out in my experience was around 1/2 hour. As far as the precautions go, the fuel filter was easy for me to find locally where propane items are sold (farm stores, large sporting goods stores); it is easy to install (it screws into the heater where a 1-lb. bottle would be located and then the hose to the tank screws right into the fuel filter it should last a year). I pick up an extra one once the current one is being used. I''m getting in the habit of shutting off the gas first. I would give this heater 5 stars if they would have explained this malfunction better I ended up talking with tech support before finding out what was actually wrong.

Also, even in very cold weather, I leave about 6" of window open to keep the condensation to a minimum.

Once and for all, here is the purpose of fuel filter for this heater. When you use this heater with a remote tank & rubber hose, it is imperative that you always shut the tank off first & let the heater run until it burns off all the fuel in the lines. YOU MUST DO THIS EVERY TIME. If you simply turn the heater knob to the off position, what you are doing is trapping 100 PSI of propane in the rubber hose. When high pressure propane just sits in your rubber hose, it literally causes the rubber to leetch a light oil that is part of the chemical composition of the rubber. If this oil forms and you have the filter on the heater, the filter will catch it and seperate it from the gas. If you do not have the filter, the oil will quickly work its way into the heater & destroy both the regulator & control valve. The heater can be repaired, but these two components will need to be replaced.

This heater is perfect for tent camping in larger tents. It''s not too big and pretty stable. We have a large cabin style tent that sleeps 6-8. On our last camping trip to our local Southern California mountains in January 02, the temp at night got down to the mid 30''s. Mr. Heater kept us almost too warm, even on the low setting. Our kids ended up sleeping on top of their sleeping bags. The safety features and BTU range were the deciding factors in our purchase. The low oxygen sensor gave us peace of mind(I still purchased a battery operated Carbon Monoxide sensor for the tent for extra precaution)and the BTU range was good. I could not find any other indoor approved heater that warmed us so well. At first I purchased a infer-red heater that attached to a bulk talk. I found too many reasons why not to use it in the tent(No low O2 sensor, no heat shield, and no low setting). Don''t chance it. Get an 8 to 12 foot extension hose and a bulk tank. The portable tanks won''t last all night. I wouldn''t recommend this heater for small tents(not enough space, not enough air volume, and the potential for Carbon Monoxide problems is too great).

After several months of field testing this heater, I found it capable of producing some convenient heat. It competes in a market that includes a lot of products. I have used this heater in a garage, basement and while camping.

Some observations:

1. Outside at your campsite, it is easy to light and carry around, and can be a great radiant heater to warm your hands and face on a cold morning without the fuss of building a fire. Inside a five to six person tent, it warmed the space quite nicely on the high setting. In a tent, I would not take a chance to burn it without keeping at least an open space around it and an open eye on it. While the front has a steel grille to shield the user from direct contact with the burning surface, contact with the grille and top of the unit by skin or manmade materials can result in burns or melted items.

2. The heater is PORTABLE, and portability is your friend. It is very easy to pack or carry anywhere. This is a VERY COMPACT unit that will go nearly anywhere. However, It will NOT heat a large unenclosed space, and it is not a blast furnace.

3. One interesting thing that happens when you burn the heater for any length of time in a cool area is that moisture condenses on the outside of the metallic disposable propane cylinder. The condensation eventually turns to frost and if you sit the heater on top of something that can be damaged by water, you definitely want to put an absorbent cloth under the tank to catch any drops of water when it starts to condense or as the frost melts.

4. Since this is an unvented heater, products of combustion such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and some slight odor are released into the heated space; this is common with all such heaters. Adequate oxygen must also be supplied to facilitate burning as well as to sustain life. The low oxygen shutoff is a good safety feature. People with sensitivity to odors or products of combustion would not appreciate this; I have one such person in my household and he has not enjoyed the smell.

5. There is an open flame in the form of the pilot light which sits just in front of the surface of the ceramic plate seen in the picture. The pilot ignites the gas on the surface of the ceramic plate; that is what causes the plate to glow orange. The pilot is lighted by a built-in sparker. I have found the pilot to be harder to light with a propane extension hose attached than with the disposable cylinder on board.

I have used kerosene heaters, catalytic heaters, electric space heaters. All of them produce heat, but this is the handiest heater I have ever used.

ZeroWater ZD-013 8-Cup Pitcher Save 3% Off

ZeroWater ZD-013 8-Cup PitcherThis is an excellent product that does EXACTLY what it says it will do. However, just because it does remove so many contaminants doesn''t necessarily mean your water''s going to taste awesome. There are other factors that go into the taste of water. For instance, I find that Poland Springs water registers about 20-25 on the meter and personally it tastes better to me than my local tap water once it''s been run through this filter and registers 0.

With that said, my tap water definitely tastes much better than it does at its natural reading of about 250! It really is hard to drink when it''s unfiltered, but when it''s filtered it''s a pleasure to drink. Not perfect according to my personal taste, but definitely perfectly drinkable.

I wanted to address a few points others have made:

1. The time it takes to filter yes, it does take awhile to filter. To fill the bottle, you have to fill the top part TWICE and let it filter through. I timed it tonight and it takes about 10-12 minutes to filter one round. So to fill the bottle would take between 20-25 minutes total. Well, once you know this you can usually plan around it. I fill the top once and usually just let it sit while go off and do other things. I try to remember to come back anytime after about 15 minutes and fill it again.

Also, keep in mind that the reason it does take so long is because it''s doing such a thorough job of filtering your water! If it didn''t take as long it wouldn''t be getting your water so clean.

2. One reviewer complained that after about 4 weeks his water began to taste fishy. He also said he didn''t want to change the filter when the TDS meter read 6. He said he was willing to let it go to 150. But the ZeroWater documentation that comes with the filter specifically states that if you don''t change it at just about 6, that the water will begin to taste funny. I called them and asked why and they told me that because at 6 the filter is so full of contaminants that it just starts making newly filtered water taste funny. Because at that point the water is not only going through the filter, but it''s also going through all the contaminants in the filter!

Makes sense. So all the reports you''ve read about water tasting funny are true. But that''s what happens when you use the filter too long. I too thought I wouldn''t mind the TDS (total dissolved solids) level going higher than 6. Because my favorite water Poland Springs was around 25. So I thought I could go to 25. But sure enough the water started tasting ever so slightly funny at 6. I actually let it go to 9 but by that time it really didn''t taste good so I changed the filter. It didn''t taste fishy as some have reported, but it definitely tasted a little funky. The company says that what happens after a TDS level of 6 is reached will vary from water system to water system. For me it might taste funky while for someone else it might taste fishy. It all depends on what''s in your water system to start with and the combination of contaminants that are trapped in the filter.

The good news was that by that point I had already used the filter for about 5 weeks! So that came in at about 60% of what I would have paid for bottled water! So it did save a little money! But the best part is no more carrying heavy cartons of water around! And no more having a thousand little bottles to throw out each week!

By the way when you read some of the reviews that state the filter didn''t last very long that doesn''t really tell you anything unless you know several factors. One, you''d have to know how many people were drinking from it and how much they used. Two, you''d have to know what the TDS level of the water they''re filtering is. If they tell you the filter only lasted 2 weeks and it''s feeding four people and their TDS level is 400, then they''re actually getting really good mileage out of it!

So for your info, my review covers the use of just one person who consumes 1 full Zerowater container a day. And the TDS level of the water I''m filtering is about 250. So if you know the TDS of your water, and how much you would consume, you can compare. If yours is 125 then you could expect to get twice as much use out of each filter.

3. Size of the container and filtering time. The container holds about half a gallon of water. For one person this should be enough for the whole day. For two people or more it seems it would start to be a bit of a hassle keeping it filled. But for one person it''s fine.

One reviewer complained that the size of the filter itself was too big and displaces too much water in the container causing it not to hold as much water as it could. Well, all that is true. However, what he didn''t figure is that the filter has to be large in order to get the TDS level to 0! The little Brita & Pur filters are much smaller, but they do basically nothing! They filter out maybe 25% of the contaminants. This filters out ALL of the dissolved solids. And it''s just the physics of filtering. The larger the filter, the more contaminants it will filter out. People have been really unrealistic and un-knowledgeable in a lot of these reviews.

Due to the physics of filtering, the filter has to be large and therefore the time it takes the water to run through it will be long. And that explains the complaints of some that it''s slow to filter. It''s slow because it''s doing such a thorough job.

As to the complaints that the container should hold more water... I agree. It would be nice if it was larger and held more water. And it probably could be a little bit larger. But at its current size I''ve already seen a few complaints that it''s too big for some refrigerators! If it was any larger it really would be too big. People would start to complain that it takes up all the space in their refrigerators!

Due to the necessary size of the filter, there is a rather large water displacement in the storage container that causes it to hold less water than it otherwise would.

I get around this problem by pouring all the water into an insulated stainless steel pitcher that I got from Starbucks a few years ago. This works great because the pitcher holds the exact same amount the Zerowater container holds. And the pitcher keeps the water cold all day. So while I''m pouring water out of the pitcher into a glass all day, the new fresh container of Zerowater is cooling down in the refrigerator. By the time I''m ready for another pitcher, the Zerowater is nice and cold and ready to go. I fill up the pitcher, and then I fill up the Zerowater container. Works out pretty well.

I read the reviews here before buying and they''re pretty accurate...both the good and not so good. ON THE PLUS SIDE, the Zero does a great job purifying. And it comes with a digital water tester, which has been very helpful. I used the tester to compare the Zero water with my unfiltered tap water, with my old Brita and with a friend''s Pur. The Zero won hands down. Capacity hasn''t been a problem for our small family though, for four or more, it might not do as well. The Zero also has a small tap with a push button to let you pour the already-filtered water while waiting for the rest to come through. The feature is a nice idea.

ON THE DOWN SIDE, Zero is taller than standard pitchers 11" high instead of 10" like my old Brita. The extra inch means I can''t put it on the top shelf of my fridge. It''s worth measuring first. The filter price is also steeper than Brita or Pur but it works better too, so it''s a tradeoff that makes sense. The push-button tap on my first Zero broke after about 50 uses and once it broke, water just leaked out. I had to replace the whole pitcher and no longer use that feature. But the thing that has most disappointed is that the filters don''t always let all of the water through. I''ve found this problem in about 1 out of every 3 filters. Even when I fill it up and leave it over nite, some of the water remains in the top compartment in the morning, despite having lots of room left in the pitcher. It''s happened with new filters from several different lots, so I can''t blame it on anything obvious. It''s why I lowered my rating from 4-stars to 3. I''ll raise it back up if the consistency improves.

I hope the Zero Water folks take some of the Amazon reviewers'' good suggestions into account for their next model. This one shows good potential but needs to get the bugs out before it gets my full recommendation.

Most of us have had water filtration systems; either the under sink, mounts to faucet, or most commmonly, the filter-in-pitcher system. I saw this on a late night infomercial and was hooked. I will keep this review short and sweet:

Pluses: Nice attractive color, Spigot and valve ON the pitcher so no need to remove the pitcher from the fridge everytime you want some water, Zero-water meter is included (and can be stored IN the pitcher)

Minuses: Capacity could be greater. Filter is so massive that you go through the filtered water QUICKLY, especially if you have a larger family;

AND...the #1 drawback: This pitcher filters VERY SLOWLY. I am used to other Brita-type units and this is the slowest I''ve ever seen. Often when the pitcher is over half-full, and I fill the top reservoir, it doesn''t drain completely after 3-4 HOURS. I have to keep a 1/2 gallon bottle in the refrigerator filled with cold filtered water since this filters so slowly.

So, great concept, water is fantastic, but pitcher filters way too slowly if you have a family larger than 2-3.

I purchased this as a replacement for a PUR pitcher that did not remove all the taste from my heavily treated city water. The good news is that this pitcher makes great tasting water. It really does taste as good as bottled water, like the advertising says. The bad news is that the pitcher itself is an ergonomic disaster. For starters, it is too tall to fit in my refrigerator. Second, the reservoirs are not the same size, so one must fill the top part a couple of times to get a full pitcher. It is also too easy to spill unfiltered water down the spout to the filtered water. It just does not work very well, which is really a bummer as the filter itself does an outstanding job. Back to the drawing board Zerowater!

Great product. I was looking for something that would remove flouride that didn''t involve tapping into a water line like reverse osmosis does. I was excited when I found this product and decided to give it a try. The water tastes great and I had no trouble getting a zero TDS reading on the first try. The dispenser at the bottom of the handle allows you to get water from the pitcher without having to even remove it from the fridge very handy. The water does take a bit longer going through the filter than the Brita ones but not unbearably so. I''d highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a easy way to get cleaner water than what you can get from just a carbon filter.

Hoover Quick and Light Carpet Cleaner Save 31% Off

Hoover Quick and Light Carpet Cleaner w/Powerbrush, FH50035For the past 8-9 years I have been renting a RugDoctor carpet cleaner from Home Depot two to three times a year. Our carpets were brand new when we bought our house 20 years ago which was three kids and two dogs ago. I would love to rip and replace our carpets but not spending that kind of money right now.

My situation is unique in that I did not have to pay anything for my Hoover Quick & Light because our bank Visa had an awards program. The awards website just said Hoover Steam Vac and I saw several good reviews online. Once we actually received the unit I did a new search for reviews of the Quick & Light and was dissapointed that the majority were not good. I actually took it down to my local Hoover store to see if I could trade up for something better. No go.

So I figured I was stuck with another crappy device that would underperform and waste time. I am happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised when I first used the Hoover. It did just as good as job as the RugDoctor. Matter of fact I think that the power brushes do a much better job than the RugDoctors I was renting. The good news is that it is light and takes a small amount of water to operate. Which is good when your pet gets sick or you just want to do one room over the weekend. The bad news is that it takes a small amount of water to operate which also means there is a lot of stopping, adding more clean water and dumping the dirty water.

I think it is a very good unit for someone that wants to able to clean up after a pet or just stay on top of one room at a time. It is light and easy enough to use that my parents (in their 80''s) could use it. All in all a good unit and I would say good value for the $129 price range.

I have had 2 Bissel carpet cleaners, and while they do an ok job of cleaning, I am very disappointed with the fact that the spray system on both of them died very early and I am forced to manually disperse the solution. I wanted to buy yet another carpet cleaner so that I wouldn''t have to do this anymore and was determined not to get another Bissell because of this.

So with all the hype about "steam cleaning" from other products that you see on TV, I decided to go with the Hoover "SteamVac". Sadly, I did not purchase it on Amazon, because I could have returned it, but instead I got it with credit card points, and can therefore not return it.

For starters, there is NO STEAM whatsoever from this unit. As far as I can tell, it doesn''t even have any kind of heating unit at all, relying instead upon the hot tap water that you supply. Now I don''t know if Steam is the magical power that TV suggests, but if you''re going to call your product the "SteamVac", it should use steam!!!

Next, this unit has some of the cheapest quality construction of any device I have ever seen that was worth more than 5 or 10 dollars. While I do prefer having two chambers, one for clean water and one for dirty water as opposed to Bissell''s "bladder chamber" design, that''s about the only positive feature this unit has. The "overflow protection" consists of a wide blue plastic cylinder that is supposed to "float" up and seal off the chamber whenever there is too much water in it. Unfortunately, it only takes a slight bump when the unit is empty to make it pop up due to the vacuum that it requires you to continuously shut the unit off, wait for the motor to stop, let it drop, then turn it back on. Now the handle release lock, instead of having some kind of smooth gear release mechanism like any other kind of vacuum or carpet cleaner, instead has this super cheap plastic simple "catch" that is mounted 6-7" off of the ground, that half the time when you release it causes the overflow cylinder to pop up, causing you to repeat the procedure.

The hose is very thin and narrow and doesn''t sit very well on the machine, and you can''t simply take it off and start using it, you have to remove a cover and manually plug it in to the dirty water basin, and you have to connect the solution line to the side of the unit via this dongle which just hangs there loose whenever it isn''t being used. There is not a single piece of this unit which does not seem to be extremely cheap and likely to break.

After you get past the lack of quality and you start to use the machine, it is terrible. I will say this for it, the solution dispenser works very well, but after you''ve got it down on the carpet, even when the overflow protector isn''t stopping your suction completely, it just doesn''t seem to ever pick up the water all of the way. I spent ½ hour cleaning a 3x3'' spot and left it to dry, and the next day it''s still wet, and after several days the carpet is noticeably darker there. I tried it again and the same result. I tried it again and then vacuumed with my Bissell and then it was fine.

I think this may be the first scathing review I have ever left for any product, but this unit is absolutely terrible, I will never look to Hoover ever again, and I advise you not to either!

I bought the Hoover because everyone said it was the best of the best. I have dogs and they track but mostly I really needed to clean my carpet get it back to what it looked like before my old cleaner had broke down. Well this one doesnt clean at all. I could go over and over the same spot and it is still dirty. I am very disappointed. I did take a spray bottle of cleaner and spray the carpet first and for some reason that worked but dosent that defeat the purpose of a carpet cleaner, shouldnt the brushes be doing the same thing I use the same cleaning agents. Anyways I dont like the cleaner and if I could I would return it to Hoover with a big DISAPPROVAL.

I just got the Hoover Quick and light carpet cleaner a few weeks ago but right away put it too the test. The carpet near my front door gets a lot of traffic and it shows, after using this Hoover carpet cleaner I was pleased to see it did a decent job returning my carpet to how it once looked. The machine comes with a sample bottle of carpet cleaner so I used it. You load the upper tank with a cap of soap and then top it off with the hottest tap water you can get. The tank lifts out making it easy to fill just like the waste water tank, once full the sensor shuts the vacuum flow telling you it''s time to empty the waste water tank. Both tanks are on the small size so be ready to stop refill and go again. I was pleased finding the carpet was damp not wet after cleaning, most of the water returns to the waste tank speeding up drying time. One big plus to this machine is the handheld brush, you can clean a lot more than just carpet and it does a great job too! I think this is the smallest model made by Hoover making it perfect for apartments or smaller homes, if you just need to do spot cleaning such as cleaning up after pets this might be just what you need.

It is a decent carpet cleaner. Our carpet is about 5 years old now and we have a very rambunctious 4 year old daughter. We have owned this for about a year now. It does the job, getting rid of the stains left by the kid and the fat stinky 120 lb dog. It has an extra wand on it for cleaning in tight areas or say the couch the dog lays on after rolling around in his own feces. Hey, if the stain is gone and I don''t smell it, that is a good carpet cleaner to me.

Update: This now for some reason leaks all over the floor when using the cleaning wand....

  • 100% Compatible with water filter models: RC-101, RC-200, RF200, RF-200, SWFCB

It''s a little difficult to review this product. I was hesistant to purchase this because I''ve been so use to getting the actual Frigidaire Pure Source filters. However, the original filters are so expensive for no reason. Plus, when I compare the specs on Pure Source vs Swift Green, the Swift Green reduces more particulates. And not to mention it''s much cheaper. So I took a risk and purchased a 3 pack. But, I''m so use to drinking bottled water that anything outside of that tastes weird. But I must say the water comes out clear and tastes ok. My ice cubes are no longer frosty and doesn''t have a bad smell.

Buy Swift Green Filters SGF-F1 Refrigerator Water Filter Now

There are a number of external factors in the success of a filter cartridge-you can''t just compare them on the numbers or assume that this filter work the same in my fridge as it does in yours. You have the the quality of water going into it, the volume of water going through it, the length of time the water sits in plastic and or copper tubing before and after filtering, how long the filter has been in use (as a proportion of it''s total useful life). That last is a big one, because it depends entirely on operating environment. A manufacturer''s recommendation to replace after a specific amount of time (e.g. 6 months) simply MUST be arbitrary and bear no relationship to performance in your specific circumstances. So, reading the comments here I was of two minds but then decided that (a) my own circumstances are pretty much optimal, and (b) the price difference was such that I wasn''t risking much. The filter bore all this out and I will come back and give it the fifth star if it lasts as long as it should.

We replaced our old refrigerator filter with this product and immediately ''tasted'' the difference. The were very disappointed that the water tasted so bad. We gave it a chance thinking it might improve but it did not. We wound up replacing it with our former, trusty, brand and the water tastes delicious again.

Primo Water Floor Model Water Cooler

Primo Water Floor Model Water CoolerPrimo was very quick about shipping. I recieved my cooler in 4 days. The cooler is not heavy; easy to unpack. I was able to unload the cooler and set up quickly without any help. The cooler will fit in to any decor. It really has a nice sleek look. I was surprised to read the review of a noisy cooler. My cooler runs very quietly. Other than when we first started it up, we don''t hear the compressor, no rattles. We have ours set up in the kitchen on a good thick vinyl floor. Perhaps there is enough cushion to keep any vibrations to a minimum. The safety button for the hot water is definitely a plus. Especially if you have small children. The hot water comes out nice & hot; makes a great & quick cup of tea or hot cocoa. I have to admit, I wish the cold water was colder. Using a good pH meter with temp guage, we are getting water temps of 58 60 degrees. Perhaps that is standard but I like my cold water colder. Still its nice to have a head start on a nice cold glass of lemonade. Dispense water, add lemonade mix or squeezed lemons...and throw in a few ice cubes. I didn''t notice right a way, but a day after set up, I discovered my Primo cooler has a defect along the front right side. There is a slight gap where the right side does not line up & hook up with the front panel. The other/left side fits nice and snug to the front panel. I''m sure I could send it back, but I just don''t have the time right now to pack & ship. Besides it works fine and I don''t believe this causes any problems other than cosmetic appearance. Also, I enjoy Primo water and found it can be purchased at our K-mart at about $13 for water in the special primo jug.

Bekka

I have had this for a couple weeks now, it came really fast 2 or 3 days I think, the other primo cooler had really good reviews which is why I got this one, and liked that the controls were on top of the cooler bc they were more out of reach for toddlers, and it looks nice. Now the bad, it is noisy whenever the heater compressor is running (which is about every 10-20min it seems) there is a annoying rattling that I can hear in the next room for about a minute at a time, but it is quite distracting. Also the water has been getting a "rubber" like taste. I have cleaned it out well as they reccommended and it helped some, seems to be getting better over time. I have called Primo 1-800# and you get a real person right away who is willing to go over her checklist of solutions to these problems, they reccommended I unplug it overnight and call if the noise doesnt get better but that it is normal for the compressor to be heard.

My family bought this item less than two years ago. Was working fine. Cold water sometimes not that great, but no problems in function. Unfortunately, I nearly had a house fire because of this machine. With no indication of a problem, the wires to the hot water tank overheated and burned causing a bright spark and smoke. I quickly unplugged the machine and probably saved my home and family. Had it been 2 hours later, the whole family would have been in bed and this could have burned the house down. There is NO circuit overload protection on this machine. If it overloads, it does NOT shut down. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy. There should not be a product for sale that is intended for continuous use that does not have overload protection.

I got this at K-mart for a much cheaper price, and I''m thrilled with it. I used to have water delivered for use on a rented cooler, and let me tell you, never again. Customer service was awful, hidden charges, bottle deposits, etc. I''m much happier having my own unit and refilling my own bottles. It ends up being so much cheaper, too. I haven''t had any problems with the unit--no leaks, the hot water is hot enough, and the cold water is *almost* cold enough, which works for me since I can add a couple ice cubes and go my merry way. I flushed it out pretty well when I bought it, and I haven''t had an issue with funky odors or taste. I like the way you have to press down from above to dispense instead of having handles that stick out the front--I have fewer floods from my toddler playing with it because it''s harder for her to manage. The hot water safety button is a great feature. I''ve recommended this to friends. I can''t comment on customer service or repairs since my unit has worked perfectly from day one, and fingers crossed it stays that way!

Karcher Window Vac Save 13% Off

Karcher Window VacThis little machine does the hard work for you. Simply scrub your windows with whatever you like (window wash, or my favorite, a dishrag with dish soap) and the machine vacuums away all the water, streak free. It runs on a battery charger, and it is very lightweight which is a great thing. The handle also allows for some extra reach for those tall windows for which you might rather not haul out a chair or stool. Great for quick touchups of bathroom mirror and shower tile as well. Where was this all my life?

I bought my Karcher WV 50 window vac plus the 17cm blade, it''s just another expensive gadget you don''t really need, and simply NOT worth the money, a 3 hour battery charge for only 20 minutes actual work is just not long enough, plus it has very low suction power.. OK for bathroom tiles maybe, but that''s about all, I much prefer to use a squeegee & rubber wipe blade for my windows for a proper job anyday.. My advice is save yourself some money £££££.. A decent Squeegee & rubber Wipe blade does a much better job and still leaves windows dry.. (all my other Karcher items are really excellent) but this "POWERLESS WV50" is just another expensive gimmick!!!

Saw this item in my in-flight magazine (which has some good ideas, obviously) and thought I''d give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised: the parts are well designed to assemble/disassemble quickly, the battery charges pretty fast, and I was able to clean my windows with absolutely no problem whatever. I''m not finicky, so my procedure might not be suited to everyone''s taste, but it was rapid & effective for me. I simply equip myself with a couple of cloth towels & a sprayer full of Windex; hold the Vacuum in my left hand (since I''m right handed), squirt the Windex on the window starting at the top. Set the bottle down & using my right hand smear the Windex around to lift dirt. Wipe that hand on a towel, switch the Vacuum to the right hand and proceed with squeegee action. With a little practice, the whole window takes a half a minute or so, depending on how dirty it was.

Best thing about it, I think, is the sturdiness of the product. It''s really basic, no frills, no gimmicks; just vacuums up the dirty Windex. Done.

As I said, I''m not squeamish about getting my hands wet or dirty; you could wear gloves, I suppose, if you don''t want to get Windex on them. Beats using newspaper or paper towels by a mile!

This is a tool that will help you get shiny windows faster. I have so far only used industrial strength windex and I like the results. I have read reviews on using regular dish washer detergent or vinegar, too. I have used it on windows and used it only once on a bathroom mirror; couldn''t get the corners right. I am happy with the window performance. Some facts: 1) it is important to use the tool from top to down mostly if you try to use it on a horizontal surface that has significant amount of water you get water coming out from sides the ventilation holes; a scary sight indeed, but it keeps running afterwards. Do not try to use it immediately if this happens to you too; let it stand for a while. The tank was not even one quarter full when this happened; it looks like the bursting leak is due to the design of tank connection. Keeping the tool upright on its base is a good habit when using this product, 2) There is a warning ''not to use it outdoors; I guess this is related to this issue; although the previous issue came up with regular indoor use I wouldn''t recommend using it outdoors after a rain or on wet surfaces based on potential problems You are of course going to use it outdoors. Outside of windows is why I purchased this product, and I surely used it outdoors on the truely problematic side of the windows. I rinsed the windows earlier with the garden hose. The dirty water tank is not large but it is sufficient to easily keep up with a couple large windows. 3) After a couple of uses the rubber will get dirty and leave traces on the surface; you can clean the attachment and try again or just go over the area using your conventional methods I use a paper towel to go over it a second round especially the corners always need a second round. It still is worth it as it reduces the amount of work you would have to put in to clean windows otherwise. It would be nice to have a secondary attachment so you can use one on clean home surfaces; I could not for instance use it on kitchen counters after cleaning the dirty windows. The attachment comes off for through cleaning; but I would expect the rubber to get distorted if you use harsh chemicals/tools to clean it. This must be the reason why outdoor use is not recommended. I use dish washing detergent and warm water to clean the head attachment. I wouldn''t depend on it for that variety of purposes as advertised; you should decide on the most important jobs and stick to it.

I would recommend it to those who like streak free windows with less effort. I guess a review after a long term use would be more useful to judge the performance

Before buying it, I was a little bit skeptical, BUT IT IS A PURE MARVEL ! No more dripping on the floor, no need anymore to put a cloth on the floor to protect it. What I like the most is when cleaning a big surface in two stages, there is no "partition line" showing at all. Works great on glass tables too. Very quick to clean

  • Installs in minutes - Limited duct cutting and bracket-mount design takes less than 5 minutes to complete
  • Easy maintenance - Self-regulates cleaning cycles throughout the year. Annual maintenance requires no tools to access and clean, saving time and money on annual contractor service calls

Contractor warned me that he was having issues with the Honeywell steam humidifier. Claimed I would be lucky if it lasted 3 years. Thinking I could live with 3 years, I had him install it. I really wanted a steam humidifier. Well, it last a little longer than 3 weeks. Contractor brought me a new one, and same thing. I am now in process of installing an Aprilaire which cost a few hundred more. Honeywell, you should pull this product from the market.

This is the worst purchase I have ever made. Neve has worked right. Have replace the entire unit and it still doesn''t work right. If you don''t have a good water source the boiling water will leave deposits from the boiloff. These deposits will cause the solenoid to malfunction and have to be replaced. I have done so several times. This is a hunk of junk.

I had no option but to buy this product. My new furnace was in such a tight space that they could not install a conventional humidifier unless it voided it''s warranty.

SOooo it''s Truesteam or nothing. Let me say that it humidifies better than any other humidifier but it is NOT a set it and forget it product. First, it has to be installed correctly (esp.the wiring). If you have the chops do it fine , but otherwise get an HVAC dealer to do it for you. Second, get a Honeywell Reverse Osmosis Filter System (about $200 & easy to install)to go with it. This will save you time and $$ down the line. I went 2yrs without one and the scaling and cleaning and replacement of the water sensor unit ($60) each year was a pain...and my softened water is not that bad. Third, an probably most important, get to know your troubleshooting manual (Honeywell has a video that''s pretty good as well [Google: Truesteam Tuneup]). If you don''t you will have endless service calls because the warning lights go on and the unit stops working 2-4 times a season and you have to diagnose the problem. The blinking warning light system will tell you 95% of the time what the issue is by the # of blinks. Since I''m now an expert it''s easy to get it going again.

Bottom line..I love the way it humidifies. Very even and efficient since my fan is on all the time. Better than Aprilaires I''ve owned. BUT.. you have to get to know the unit. If you don''t you WILL get frustrated. I don''t look forward to selling my house and explaining this to the new buyer.

UPDATE: I inquired about the APRILAIRE 800 Steam Humidifier (Hey..if it works better I''ll try it) and was told by their #1 dealer in the area that the Aprilaire rep has told them to stay away from the unit...too many unresolved problems. Translation: endless service calls. Like with Truesteam the fixes are probably not difficult but the average homeowner doesn''t want all the maintenance issues.

Replaced a reliable Aprilaire humidifier (had worked well for 20 years) when a new geothermal heatpump was installed. Have had only trouble with the Honeywell through two seasons. Will be going back to Aprilaire soon. First it leaked and didn''t humidify the house. Water all over the basement floor. When it comes time to clean it out (which MUST be done at least every year), the instructions are so bad that you are pretty much on your own. It''s impossibly difficult. First you have to push a button to flush it out -but they don''t tell you that you must push the button with a screwdriver or pencil, NOT your finger, or it won''t engage. Then you fight with various fittings (again, not well described) to disconnect the tank. When you attempt to reinstall the tank after cleaning, you find that the gasket around the tank has nothing to attach to -it just flops there and you can''t get the tank sealed. It''s NOT worth the money or the Honeywell brand name. Buy from somebody else.

This is total junk. I have had it for the past 3 years. It has been a constant source of problems. Leaks...cracks....replacement sensors........replacement solenoids....everything goes bad in it.

I have replaced many parts in it and it still malfunctions. The water valve eventually malfunctions due to deposits.....and I DO NOT have really hard water. It has a flush function. The boiling tank cracks [eventually] because ...hey Boiling water + plastic = disaster. I have had my basement flooded by this thing at least twice...stuck valve...it was so unpredictable that I installed a catch pan underneath it.

Water level sensors go bad because various plastic parts just crack...due to heat I presume.

STAY AWAY from this at all costs.

And I do replace the hard water in-line filter every year. Heck...I have tried replacing it twice a year too....no improvement.

The Original SUNHEAT Electronic Infrared Zone Heater Save 23% Off

The Original SUNHEAT Electronic Infrared Zone Heater, Golden OakI have tried many other heaters and this one is the cadillac of all heaters. Heater is rock solid and cranks out heat. It has a made in the USA wood case and is on wheels. The heater on off switch is located at the front top. Nothing on this heater gets hot.....very safe for pets and kids. 5 year warranty! A little more expensive then some heaters but worth every penny. Ignore the morons that claim all heaters are the same. I have had 1500 watt plastic junk heaters from walmart.....huge difference! A strong wind will blow the cheapies over or can get knocked over by a pet......Sunheat would take a hurricane to topple it.

You pay a lot more for a Mercedes then you do a Yugo for a reason.....I wonder if the same morons think the Mercedes is just the same as a Yugo and not worth the extra dollars??!! Buy this heater......best on the market!

I knew exactly what I was buying when I purchased the Sunheat earlier this year and it does the job well. I needed a large-room electric zone heater for a small (450 sq ft) finished area for my basement. I live in Maine (very cold winters), but my well-insulated basement temperature stays fairly constant year round. I tried a few smaller space heaters and electric baseboard units prior to the Sunheat, but I found they simply didn''t heat the space evenly or quickly enough. The Sunheat heats the space very well -comfortable and quick. The noise from the fan isn''t even that loud. I can have the unit on next to the couch while I watch TV and it is a non-factor.

Also, it is important to note I do not run the unit 24/7 nor do I rely on the on-board temperature gauge to regulate the heat in the room. Instead, I plug the Sunheat into a Lux WIN100 Heating & Cooling Programmable Outlet Thermostat Heating & Cooling Programmable Outlet Thermostat (which can be bought from Amazon for $30), and it basically turns my basement into a separate heat zone of the house. I can program when the heating unit comes and and what temp I want the room at based on when I use the space, just like I do on the other programmable thermostats in my house. I leave the Sunheat switched on and on the high temp setting, but it only comes on when my separate thermostat tells it to. A big reason that I bought a Sunheat 1500 is because it has a non-digital on-off switch, which is only thing that is compatible with this type of thermostat. The Duraflame (which is the top rated unit on Consumer Reports) and others will not work with a separate programmable thermostat because when they are plugged in, they require a person to actually turn them on by pushing a digital button. The Sunheat has a manual switch, which is exactly what I needed.

The rest of my house is on oil heat. I priced out adding a heating zone with forced hot water baseboards through my oil furnace in the basement, and installation alone was $1500-$1700, plus the cost of the oil heat. For around $275 I can accomplish the same with the Sunheat and outlet thermostat. I cannot say exactly how much my electric bill went up from using the Sunheat because it can be common for my bill to fluctuate $10-$20 each month yearround depending on other variables. I haven''t seen an noticeable increase since I started using the Sunheat so that tells me it likely increases my electric bill around $10 monthly.

Again, I knew exactly what I needed when I bought the Sunheat and it does the job well.

Kalorik 1000-Watt 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Save 36% Off

Kalorik 1000-Watt 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Stainless Steel/BlackThis is the third coffee maker I have bought within a year. The first one was a Mr. Coffee which was horrible. Then I got a Sunbeam which, when I unpacked it, looked exactly like the Mr. Coffee except with a different name. I checked with Mr. Google and sure enough they are the same company. It lasted about three weeks before burning out. Consumer Reports recommended this one, so I decided to spend a little more and get a good one.

It looks great and works great. I do have a problem pouring the water into the tank the tank opening is really not big enough and water was getting all over everything. I solved that probem by using a funnel to direct the water. This would have received 5 stars if not for the water problem.

Our coffee maker died unexpectedly so I needed a good one quick. Did a quick search with Consumer Reports and they had Kalorik (never had one of those before) model that was highly rated. After searching Amazon.com, I found it a great price.

It makes a great pot of coffee relatively fast. Only cons would be there is no beep when it is done, and it is tricky to fill.

Buy Kalorik 1000-Watt 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Now

Kalorik CM25282SS Stainless-Steel Programmable 12-Cup CoffeemakerI did a quick bit of research on Consumer Reports and found this coffeemaker did receive a good recommendation. I had the carafe handle separate from the actual carafe the 3rd time I filled it up to capacity. The weight of the water caused the handle to break free over the top lip of the carafe. It was a bet of work, but after a phone call and a little email work Kalorik did provide me with a new carafe and they were quite prompt in sending a new one.

My second complaint is there is a continuing plastic smell coming from the internals upon opening the top lid to pour in the water. I thought it might just be me, but I have had several other friend "sniff" my coffeemaker and agree. It has not impacted the taste of the coffee, but the odor continues after 30 plus pots full of coffee.

I am fine with the coffeemaker, but I would probably look at another model if purchasing again.

I have owned many brands (Mr. Coffee, Cuisinart, BlacknDecker, Sunbeam)and still dream of the perfect machine. I did not notice a plastic taste or smell from the machine on the one delivered to me, and with my (sometimes unfortunate) acute sense of smell, I would have noticed. I did not have a "white film" in my cup, in the pot, or anywhere else. I have used it for four days now. The coffee temperature is not scalding hot, and what I consider to be the perfect temperature out of the caraffe. The coffee is very good, and especially good if using a "coffee snob" freshly ground batch. HOWEVER!!! It is a bit difficult to put the caraffe INTO the unit. The lever that constricts the drip while you pour the coffee while it is still brewing makes it difficult to put the carrafe back into the unit. It removes easily enough, but, it''s a small fight to return it back to the unit. The whole unit moves sometimes before we can work the pot back into the unit, sometimes making it a two handed operation. We are hoping that the lever will loosen with time making the pot easier to place back in, but for now we are willing to keep the coffeemaker.

I am very diasppointed in this product. I ordered it because it was supposed to be a pretty good machine. After running straight water through it 20 30 times, (way more than the recommended 2-3 times)there is still a white filmy substance that comes out of the coffee maker. Because of this I have sent it back so I can''t say what the coffee would actually taste like. There was no way I would consume something from this after seeing whatever that was come out of it. There was also a problem with the pause and serve feature. The spring that stops the coffee flow so you could pour while coffee is brewing just didn''t sit right making it difficult to replace the carafe correctly. I can only imagine the messes this could lead to and did not want to deal with that.

PUR 5 Cup Water Filter Pitcher CR-4000 Save 17% Off

PUR 5 Cup Water Filter Pitcher CR-4000The PUR CR-4000 5 Cup Pitcher with One Pitcher Filter is only slightly smaller than the PUR CR-6000 7-Cup Water Filtration Pitcheror PUR CR-6000C 2-Stage Oval Water Pitcher with LED Indicator. But it is a much more affordable option. What you give up is the stability and usefulness of the other models. While the top half of the units, and the filters, are about the same, the base of this model is shorter and has a more narrow base. That means while I can fill my other pitcher standing in the sink, this pitcher tips over because the base is too narrow to be stable on any surface that''s not completely flat.

PROS:

++ Good value with the same 2-stage filter as larger models

++ 5 cup capacity is perfect for filling at once (larger models require you to wait for water to filter, then fill again)

++ Reasonable water quality and taste improvement (though some filters are better)

++ Pitcher size is compact enough to fit in small spaces

CONS:

-Overly narrow base makes it easy to tip the unit over (can''t stand on its own in the sink)

-Cannot pour while filtering (the top leaks more than the tops on larger models)

-No spout cover to protect filtered water from refrigerator odors

-No light indicator for filter changes

-Larger capacity models are not much wider or taller

CONCLUSION

As long as you carefully fill this unit and only place it on flat surfaces, it''s a decent value. But considering the parts are all similar, I wish the larger capacities were sold at a similar value. This is good but if you don''t need the compact size it''s worth paying for the larger models.

It''s very compact and basic, but does the job. No complaints here so far. Great size for one or two people to share. It easily fills two glasses with water before needing refilled. The filter it uses seems very high quality. And, perhaps most importantly, according to the research I did, it looks like this pitcher is entirely BPA-free.

Actually this model shares the same parts of the lid and blue water tank with 7cup model. So it''s like this model is just a little bit shorter by about 2cm. I saw local store is selling 7 cup with LED for less $15. I bought 5 cup model for space saving but actually it didn''t matter.

The other thing is no spout cover. Although not hard to put on foil to cover, it doesn''t look nice. After getting rid of chlorine or something, the water becomes vulnerable against bacteria. So I think this kind of pitcher should have a cover. It seems old Pur models had it though.

CRYSTAL QUEST® chrome bath ball Filter

CRYSTAL QUESTĀ® chrome bath ball FilterThis WORKS wonderfully! It gets the chlorine out I can tell, by the smell and the feel, the difference when I do or don''t use this. So I''m very glad to have this!

It withstands the water''s fast flow which is fantastic!

As I read in previous reviews, sand/grit does come out of it when being used. I''ve used this around 10 times, and sand is still coming out of it. It doesn''t bother me, though, as it sits at the bottom of the tub straight below the filter, and it rinses out of the tub without a problem.

The main problem I have with this is the hanging contraption. It didn''t hang where I needed it to, so I tried to pull out one end of the snapped-in plastic handle in order to reposition it, and it broke. It''s VERY cheaply made (the handle). Once you pop it in, you''re not going to move it, unless you break it. So, I attached some textured pony tail holders to hold it in place! (My tub spout is totally curved with nothing specific to be able to latch/hang from.) It hangs great now, and I''m SO glad I don''t actually have to hold it myself now!

I bought this product for my baby''s bath water. I was dissappointed to have spent all that money and then see that this only works if you have a stopper on the top of your faucet like in the picture to hold it on there. Otherwise, it will keep falling off when the bath water is running. So I had to tie a string to the handle to help hold it in place but even then it keeps slipping off when the water is running. So usually I have to hold it while the bath water is running or keep checking to see if it''s slipped off, so that was a big dissappointment. I do not have time to sit there as the bath water runs so I''m working on rigging something else up. The bath water does seem softer though. It also leaves some residue granules by the drain where the water is being filtered. I had intended on buying the shower filter as well but since I''m so dissapointed in this I don''t know if it''s worth spending more money. Hope this review helps.

Diamonds And Pearls Jewelry Cleaner Concentrate Refill

Diamonds And Pearls Jewelry Cleaner Concentrate Refill. A fresh packet of all-natural, plant based ingredients allows customers to re-use the original plastic jar, jewelry basket and lid over and over again. This helps us all to reduce the amount of plastics thrown into of our local land-fill trash dumps.I have been using GemCare''s jewelry cleaner for about 8 years and can attest to the quality of this product. It is absolutely the best jewelry cleaner on the market.

I originally bought this jewelry cleaner at the state fair several years ago--yes, I was one of those sucked into buying a product demonstrated in the expo building at the fair. (What''s next? The waterless cookware? The specially-priced-for-fair-goers-only hair straightening iron?) The demonstrator got my rings very clean (I also bought the cream polish which works very well, although I don''t use it much) and I have continued to get the same results through the years. He even told me a good tip: once the color of the bright blue cleaner starts to dull, pour it through a coffee filter to clean out the dirt. I also use a travel toothbrush that I keep inside my plastic container for an extra-quick cleaning when I don''t have time to soak my jewelry for a few hours or overnight. One packet of this stuff lasts for months and months. I love this product and will continue to buy it for a very long time. I''m glad to see the company has gone green.

I had been using their original cleaner premixed in the little plastic jars and loved it for years so I ordered several of these little packets for my daughter and I. It is not the same. It cleans well, but the formula gets very thick and gel-like very fast with thick clumps so that you have to add hot water. I used a brand new container just once on diamond studs and then two weeks later went to use it again, and it was all thick and cloudy and gross looking.

We have been using this for several years with good success. I have given the gem care kit as a gift several times and it was well received. In the past, I could purchase it with the jar and basket but it never came with a little brush and I always had to scrounge a brush to use with the product. Since it now comes in the little refill pouch, I need to buy some distilled water as well. The hassle of no brush and the distilled water was a minor annoyance but I continued to buy it since it really does work well. As with all things, nothing is forever and I think it''s time to move on to another product. I just priced the whole gem care package to give as a gift and the higher price and shipping has moved me to find a different product. I have no problem paying a higher price for a product if it works well but this one has finally priced itself to the point of re-evaluation. I located another product on Amazon that is much more reasonably priced and seems to be of the same quality with less hassle and I''m going to give that one a try. I''ll review the other product in comparison after we have used it for a while. A note to Gem Care, there are always going to be competitors trying to take your market share and it looks like they are. You can overprice a good thing. Like we used to say in sales, "pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered" don''t get too greedy, even good customers know when it''s time to shop around.

Years ago I bought the pre-made product which lasted forever and did a beautiful job for cleaning jewelry. It works really well on diamonds and gets them to sparkle unlike anything else I have found. So when it finally ran out I was happy to find this refill concentrate here on Amazon. It is a great idea as I am all for reducing waste and being environmentally friendly. However I found the product to be less satisfying to use, it just didn''t look the same. It doesn''t have the consistency as the original product which seemed to cling to the jewelry better. Mixed as directed this just seems like grey-blue water. It will clean, but I think I would prefer the original formulation. This is unfortunate because it is a great idea and more cost effective to mix your own. I would still buy this again if they quit making the original because it is still a good product.

This comes bare bones. I pieced together all the parts I needed at Lowe''s, but I was in the aisle for like 45 min trying to get the right stuff. You can buy a full kit on line but you''ll end up spending like $80 for what ended up being like $7 worth of tubing and fittings. Totally worth the effort if you have the time and patience.

Excellent filer. Been using for years and the water is better than any other filter I''ve ever tried. Can''t say enough good about it and I''m a total water snob.

Reliance Products PUR Clean Drinking Water Kit Save 7% Off

Reliance Products PUR Clean Drinking Water KitThis product comes with 3 packets of powdered purifier, 2 folding 10-liter containers, a stir stick and filter cloth. You can also buy just the packets of PUR powder if you prefer -in that case you''d need to supply your own 10-liter containers, etc.

If you EVER backpack where the water supply is silty (e.g. the Colorado River through Grand Canyon, the Paria River, etc.) this is absolutely the quickest (30 mins), lightest (a 0.14-oz. packet cleans 10 liters of water), most reliable (no filter to clog!!), and easiest way to get CLEAR, CLEAN drinking water.

I''m not kidding. I used this on a 5-day backpack in Grand Canyon National Park where our only source of drinking water was the totally silt-clogged Colorado River. This stuff gave us gallons of delicious, clear, totally safe drinking water. One day we had way more purified water than we needed, and actually gave several liters of our purified water to some other hikers whose pumps had all completely clogged up. It''s truly amazing -I can''t believe more backpackers don''t know about it.

And in case you don''t trust it, it''s used all over the world by government and humanitarian groups to clean and purify water in 3rd-world countries, where the water quality is basically like a sewer. This stuff makes any water safe to drink. You gotta try it!!

If you buy this kit, be aware that it''s easier to process the water if you have another person with you to hold the filter cloth in place. If you''re alone I recommend that you sew the filter cloth onto a wire loop or something so that it can be held in place with one hand -that''s what I did, and it worked great.

I bought this for emergency use. Living near the coast of NC it is hurricane season and I wanted to keep something readily available in case the water supply gets tainted. I have not used the kit yet, but the low review is because the chemical tablets in the kit expire in Aug 2010. This means they will expire less than a year from now. It states a manufacture date of July 2007 (3-year shelf life), so receiving this in late Sept 2009 is very disappointing to me for this type of product. Since it will get us through this season combined with the shipping cost of sending it back, I will probably keep it. As far as replacement/additional tablets for the kit hopefully I can find them locally, because buying online I may end up in the same situation.

It takes about 30 minutes to purify 2.5 gallons of water and the water tastes great. Unfortunately, we received a defective batch of replacement packages and ended up having to boil our water for half of the trip. I would recommend this for scout groups, trips where it may be necessary to treat larger quantities of water or for emergency home use. Always carry a backup though!

Took a couple of these kits up to the Boundary Waters in MN. The kits worked pretty darn well, even my buddy who can be picky was complimentary of the way the water tasted, clean and clear. It seems to be a fairly easy way to produce a good amount of safe and tasty drinking water in an acceptable amount of time. It works just as described, though the included cloth filter does and will start to "clog up" even in fairly clear water such as encountered at the BWCA. I would recommend bringing a couple of extra clean, white handkerchiefs to use as additional filters to catch all the gunk from going into the 2nd water container, as it will make the process a whole lot faster. But I would and will definitely use this again.

I have purchased this in the past. It is a great product from a great company. I like to keep it on hand. This product has a three year suggested shelf life. To my surprise, my recent order had less than 1/2 of its expected lifespan left upon receipt. I went with a different option.

Utenlid® Natural Fruit Infusion Fruit Flavoring Pitcher Save 50% Off

UtenlidĀ® Natural Fruit Infusion Fruit Flavoring Pitcher - 3 Quart''sI bought this pitcher with the intention of giving it as a gift. Unfortunately, there were small chips in the handle and hairline cracks in the lid. I decided to keep it myself since it wasn''t really in gift-giving condition. I really like the design and find myself drinking a lot more water than before. The pitcher is easy to clean and the core design keeps the fruit from falling apart.

***Update*** After posting the initial review, I received a replacement pitcher from the seller without even contacting them. That is some outstanding customer service! The new pitcher is in much better condition and will be used for years to come.

received the item and used it for a total of 5 days before the handle just poped off, returned product for that issue

Arrived with a broken handle (so I immediately returned) and was much much smaller than I anticipated. Think i''ll wait and see if there''s something better on the market as I was not impressed overall.

I saw this pitcher while on vacation in Seattle, WA and had to have one when i got home. It arrived very quickly and I immediately washed it and filled it with home grown lemons...yum. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because the lid does not screw on but a half twist and does not seem very secure. Since it does exactly what I expected though, I would highly rcommended this product.

Murphy''s Oil Soap Save 18% Off

Murphy''s Oil Soap, 32-OunceI just discovered Murphy''s Oil Soap about a month ago. I was looking for a good wood cleaner that has been tried and trusted, so I decided to give Murphy''s a try. I had a new, wood table that I built and after cleaning it with Murphy''s Oil Soap, I was very happy with the results!

Of all things, my little kitten helped me discover other uses for Murphy''s. While working through some litter box training issues, my kitten had accidently made a boo-boo on my leather dinning room chair. Murphy''s Oil Soap was the only cleaner I had available. I diluted some of Murphy''s Oil Soap in a spray bottle filled with water. I sprayed the diluted Murphy''s Oil Soap right on the leather chair, and using paper towels, cleaned it up. I reapplied it again spraying all over the chair and wiped it clean with paper towels again. WOW! to my surprise, it cleaned my leather chair perfectly! You would never in a million years guess that anything ever soiled my chair. It cleaned up all the mess and the odor was gone!

So, I thought, hum.. If Murphy''s can clean that, how will it do on my counters, stove top, refrigerator door, sinks, and such..That very same day I used it to clean my whole house and it worked like magic! Cleaned, everything, cut grease, and left a fresh, clean sent. So now, I no longer buy any other cleaner. I only use Murphy''s Oil Soap, diluted in a spray bottle for all my household cleaning!

I''ve also used Murphy''s Oil Soap diluted in a spray bottle to soak pots and pans with stuck-on, baked on food. I only had to soak it a few moments and it lifted it right off. I keep a small spray bottle next to the sink and I use it to clean the dishes off before I put them in the dish washer.

It works great for cleaning recyclable glass and plastics. I fill the bottle or jar with hot water, spray some Murphy''s inside and shake. It cleans it perfectly.

The only time I would use Murphy''s Oil Soap straight from the bottle is if I had a stain on my clothes. Put a drop, full strength on the clothes stain, rub it in and then put it through the washing machine. Other than that, always dilute it with water! Always test on the bottom edge of your fabric before you do that though.

Oh, one other really cool thing I discovered. Murphy''s Oil Soap contains citronella oil for the fragrance. Well, citronella oil is a natural bug repellent and repels ants, mosquitoes, fleas, ticks. So in my opinion only, if you use Murphy''s Oil Soap around your house, those critters just may think twice before coming inside! ;)

------

Pro''s

------

-> A very safe product to use. Gentle on surfaces. Gentile on your skin.

-> No harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia. You can breath easy.

-> Cleans surface dirt, wax buildup, cuts grease.

-> No residue. Cleans without leaving a film behind.

-> Cleans wood well and any other surface in your home!

-> Smells clean and fresh

-> Highly concentrated, so one bottle will last a long while. Economical

----

Cons

----

None that I can think of at the moment. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, and more!

The only surface It''s not good for is glass because it''s a soap based product. Use vinegar for glass.

This is not really a "con", but you must make sure you dilute it to the proper ratio of cleaner to water. If you are even slightly leaning toward too much cleaner to water, it could produce a solution that might be too oily or leave behind a film. So, if you''ve tried this product in the past and you felt it was too oily for some surfaces, try mixing it again with less cleaner to your water mixture. With test and trial you''ll come up with the perfect ratio for all the surfaces you need to clean and it will clean great without leaving behind anything.

----------

Conclusion

-----------

Murphy''s Oil Soap was made especially for sealed wood but is a fantastic, natural, hardworking, safe cleaner that you can use around your house to clean any surface except glass.

I highly recommend this product. Try it and I think you will also agree!

We have been using this product on our wood floors (in our current home) for over 35 years now. We use no other wood floor cleaner. We have been using Murphy Oil Soap in our homes for almost 50 years now and it was pretty much a standard in the homes of our parents.

Please keep in mind that this product IS NOT a floor wax, It is a natural oil cleaner. We have found that with its continual use that our floors maintain their original hand finished luster. The wood does not dry out nor is any of the finish on the floors ever removed, which by the way, many like products will do from time to time, depending upon the material used and the finish.

There are a couple of things to note about this product. First...never every too much of the stuff, a wee bit of this product goes a long, long way. If you do not follow the directions on the bottle and follow it precisely, i.e. adding too much cleaner to the water, then you could quite well have a mess on your hands in the form of a very oily and somewhat sticky residue. The old thought that "if a little works, then a lot should work even better," does not apply here so take warning! Second, if you have wooden cabinets, in particularly wooden cabinets with some of the newer finishes on them, you might want to test a small out of the way area first. If you use too much of this stuff, i.e. poor it on straight out of the bottle like a neighbor of ours did, then you risk ruining the finish of your wood work. This is really not the fault of the product; no, it is the fault of the user not following directions.

It should also be noted that this product SHOULD NOT be used on an unstained or unwaxed or unfinished wood surface. It is after all, water based and will make a mess of untreated or improperly treated wood.

It should also be noted that this is a pretty environmentally safe product; one that actually works.

Anyway, this product has kept our floors quite nice over the years and protected them from packs of undisciplined dogs, cats, children and grandchildren (my wife includes me in this rogues gallery). Actually, with the exception of a few accidental gouges here and there (my fault...I admit it), our floors look much the way the did in our current home as the day we had them installed; a bit mellower, that is true, but to be honest that is the look we had intended from the beginning.

This product is quite cost effective as a bottle, even in the size of home we have, goes a long, long way.

FOLLOW DIRECTIONS BEFORE USING !!!

Murphy Oil liquid soap is the very best you can get when you want to clean wood--even wooden floors, just as the other reviewer correctly notes. This stuff goes a long way and you don''t need to use lots of it in order to clean--just pour some into a bucket of water, mix the two for just a minute or so and voila! There you have it--a great liquid solution for cleaning wood surfaces and wooden floors.

This product can, according to some people I know, also be used to clean leather. However, I personally haven''t tried this one. If you want to try it, just clean a very inconspicuous area of the leather so that if it doesn''t satisfy you nobody will notice.

Obviously, this stuff is NOT meant to be ingested. Keep this product out of the way of children and pets.

Overall, Murphy''s Oil liquid soap for cleaning wood is the very best quality soap for cleaning wood available. I highly recommend this product.

This stuff smells awesome -like citronella, if you''re into that sort of thing. There''s been some chatter about whether oil soap will actually damage your floors and leave a residue on them, so let me put that little rumor to rest right now. First of all, READ THE DIRECTIONS. You need to dilute this stuff before using it. By a LOT. Don''t just squirt it right from the bottle. I applied Murphy''s next to the Bona cleaner on my floors. Bona = dull matte finish. Murphy''s = clean and shiny. I had to go over the Bona section of the floor with the Murphy''s to make it shine again. I think I paid maybe $3 for my bottle at Target.

Bye-bye, Bona.

You just can''t do any better than Murphy''s Oil soap to clean wood. I''ve used this stuff for so many years and my mother and grandmother used it before me. It gets everything wood clean and leaves such a great scent too behind. It doesn''t strip the wood and dry it out like most cleansers do, but instead, it replenishes it while cleaning at the same time. I''ve even used this on my hardwoo floors and they look gorgeous. I wouldn''t ever buy anything else out there the clean my wood. Period.

Air-O-Swiss AOS 7017 Hydrostick Save 17% Off

Air-O-Swiss AOS 7017 HydrostickI bought 2 of the 7135 humidifiers. I also bought extra silver sticks. Then, air-o-swiss substituted this POS stick for the original silver stick. Here''s what I think. If you read this, it''s only my opinion, not based on any independent research, but partly based on some rumors I read on the internet. Form your own judgement.

The original silver stick allowed silver to slowly come off, thereby inhibiting bacteria formation (meaning, you won''t breathe in bad stuff). The new one is much smaller, just as expensive, and as far as I can see, I don''t know what it does. Read the current description, which I quote as follwos:

This advanced water maintenance system keeps your humidifier operating at its highest level between recommended cleanings

Good for one year, the Hydro Stick ensures your humidifier''s functionality while providing fresh humidification performance.

The Hydro Stick begins to function as soon as it comes into contact with water, even if the humidifier is switched off.

Using the Hydro Stick helps to maintain the appliance and improve the life expectancy of the humidifier.

Exchange the Hydro Stick a year after it has first been used.

Do you have any idea what that is saying? It says absolutely nothing specific about what it does. It reads like pure marketing verbiage, saying nothing.

The hydrostick clearly does not appear to have the surface area of the original silver stick. So what does it do, besides cost money? It seems like it''s there to substitute for the original silver stick. Perhaps the original silver stick started costing air-o-swiss too much money, because silver price went up. Perhaps air-o-swiss was no longer permitted to sell this silver stick, for legal reasons. But whatever, I do not see any specific function associated with it, particularly when the description for the new demineralization cartridge talks about inhibiting microbe growth.

What do you think?

This new hydro stick doesn''t work as well as the old (silver) stick. Using the old sticks & cleaning weekly worked great, but with this new hydro stick I''ve had to clean the humidifier every couple of days. The new hydro stick doesn''t seem to be doing anything it''s a total waste of money for me. I''d give it zero stars if I could. Sure hope they bring back the old silver sticks!

The hydro stick seems to work well and perhaps a bit better than the old product (ionic silver stick). It doesn''t seem as well fitted to the machine, however (I have the AOS 7135 and it seems to float around instead of snapping in).

I''m very disappointed with Air-o-swiss on this joke of a replacement. I went to BBB for a replacement stick and to my surprise they were all gone. I was skeptical about the new hydrostick''s antimicrobial abilities as it seems to be made out plastic. As suspected every few weeks I actually started cleaning moldy growth from my humidifier. I saw calcification build up with the silver stick but never mold or slime. Needless to say I''m very disappointed with this product and trying to figure out an alternative as I''m not paying another thirty dollars(with tax) for this product. Bring back the old one.

I completely agree with other reviewers that these aren''t anywhere near as good as the original which came with my Air-O-Swiss humidifier. In fact, I''m not convinced they do anything at all. The original Silver Sticks were great at preventing slime and catching what little was produced. PLEASE bring back the original design.

I love my Air-O-Swiss humidifier, but after wasting almost $30 on this piece of junk, I''m not sure I''ll be buying another when mine wears out one day. This really makes me wonder if Air-O-Swiss will soon be selling junky humidifiers, too.
