BISSELL Lift-Off Floors & More Save 22% Off

BISSELL Lift-Off Floors & More, Titanium, 53Y8I received this item as part of the Amazon Reviewers program and put it through its paces after fully charging it for 16 hours prior to its first use. I managed 14 minutes of varied use: on Berber carpet, vinyl flooring, throw rugs, shag carpet, and concrete, using both the handheld alone and with it attached to the floor sweeper.

I first noted that that suction was compromised not by the battery as much as by the amount of debris collected in the handheld''s bagless container. I emptied the collection bin three times, which was done easily by removing the handheld from the unit and depressing the button on the front to open the compartment. Removing the fabric ''cup'' exposed the debris which was easily dumped out. The fabric cup does get dirty quickly, but can be rinsed and air dried.

The Positives... it''s very lightweight, cordless, compact and maneuverable. The head of the vac pivots easily and is low enough in profile (about 3" off the ground) that it slides under chairs, dressers, couches, etc... with ease. I found this was great for getting dust bunnies out from under my bed! It seems to have pretty good suction overall, but best on vinyl flooring with the rotating brush head attachment. It will make quick work of my kitchen and bathroom floors.

The handheld portion is easy to remove and empty (it''s where the debris is collected for the whole unit). The handheld remains on only when the ''on'' trigger on the handle is depressed, thus you don''t waste a charge. I liked using the handheld for a quick pick-up of rice that had spilled on my kitchen counter. It did get jammed (no suction) when I vacuumed up flower petals (dried) from a hanging fushia, but the jam was easily cleared with only my fingers.

This would work well for a small apartment with tiled, hardwood or vinyl flooring. It would also be great in an RV or boat, assuming you were not a 24-7 live aboard who had pets. I speak from experience; lived aboard a 38'' sailboat with two cats n'' a dog for 3 years.)

The Negatives...or at least the ''Not So Greats''.

The charging time versus the amount of user time you have with this vac is not good. Admittedly, you probably won''t be using it for a whole house cleaning that takes 30 minutes or more, but what if you wanted to do so? You couldn''t.

The suction is adequate for most jobs, but not for deep cleaning. I tried to vacuum up dog hair off my dog''s bed, and could barely move it. This was after it was fully charged this was my first task and the vac failed me. I also took the handheld out to my car to get the stuff off the mats. It did a fair job, but without attachments, it was tough to get the suction focused enough to get into corners and/or to make flush contact and maximize the suction. When the vac is fully assembled and working on a hard surface the suction is at its best and did well, but it''s truly not for upholstery or carpets with any depth to them.

No bracket to mount on the wall so that you can mount and charge it? That''s an oversight on Bissell''s part if you ask me. No big deal in the sense that I''m sure I can figure one out and/or buy something from Rubbermaid that will fit the bill, but it seemed odd to me that this unit didn''t come with one.

If you do inadvertently suck up something ''wet''... the fabric cup in the handheld gets wet and gummy. It will still work, but like the old-style vacuums with bags, it gets messed up and then you lose suction and performance.

The bottom line... it''s not for everyone or every household. It would be great for those with a need for quick clean-ups of small areas on hard surfaced flooring, or those who are vacationing in boats or RV''s. Those hoping to make quick work of cleaning up a patio covered in artificial turf would also like it. However, for some like me, it may not be the best choice for everyday home use. I wouldn''t recommend it for pet owners who hope to use the handheld to suction up hair off their furniture, but it probably would be OK for a quick pick-up of kitty litter of the bathroom floor. Assess your needs and buy accordingly!

UPDATE: 9/25/11

I find I go to this vac for quick sweeps off my kitchen and bathroom floors, and it does an adequate job. Berber carpets are OK too, but only for bits n'' pieces. It''s highly maneuverable, and lightweight.

Dog hair (I have 3, 2 of whom shed quite a bit with medium length hair...) tends to choke the intake, which is inside the handheld portion of the unit. It takes pulling the handheld off the frame and getting underneath the filter to unclog it and go on.

It''s good for those quick sweeps, but I wouldn''t recommend it for multi-pet owners or hair salons!

UPDATE: 12/27/12

With very light use, this vac has died.

This unit dramatically exceeds my expectations.

It''s light, but very sturdy. Assembly out of the box is extremely easy. You push the base unit into the main body, and the hand-vac portion slides in. Very simple.

It has plenty of suction power for medium height carpets, and is highly effective on my hardwood floors. The unit is light, and since it''s cordless, it''s so fast to grab and clean. I can''t emphasize enough how much better it is to use this instead of a corded unit.

Honestly, I never had a problem picking up anything, but most of my carpet and rug in my home is not very thick. I''ve got a dog that shed her hair all over the house, and I was able to clean the floor in record time. Then, I was able to clean my couches and even my car''s seats, all with this unit on a single charge.

The single downside is that it doesn''t have as much storage capacity as a conventional vacuum cleaner. I had to empty the unit every few minutes of cleaning. This is not a big problem. I''d also add that the footprint of the unit is narrower than my vacuum cleaner, requiring more passes to clean an entire room. I find this a net advantage, as it fits almost everywhere.

The unit folds up, and the way the handle can bend in any direction makes it very easy to clean under low tables and even some couches.

The power is not earth shaking, but surprisingly it''s extremely good at picking up messes. MUCH better than the conventional vacuum that I''ve been using for a few years. The spinning brush unit is easy to detach and completely clean, which is key to a long lasting effective life.

In short, I think this is a very well designed product that easily justifies the asking price.

This is a perfectly decent light vacuum for people who like to run a quick clean up on sections of their home (kitchen, around the dining table) or want the cordless convenience for vacuuming the car.

Assembly was a snap with this vac the head simply clicks onto the main unit and you are set to go.

Performance wise, I have two dogs who shed heavily and track dirt in all the time. I was impressed that the vacuum does do an excellent job picking up every hair and grain of dirt from tiled floors. It does especially well when used around kitchen cabinets since it picks up things that are right at the wall''s edge as opposed to my Dyson which leaves about half an inch uncleaned when smack up against a wall.

It does a fair job on low pile carpet. It skims off the visible dirt and debris and the lower suction is ideal for bath rugs and area rugs since it does not try to inhale the rug along with the dirt!

The hinged/ folding handle is great for cleaning under furniture, especially if you would prefer not to get down on your knees and scrabble around.

Some things to keep in mind :

It does not come with a mounting plate so you can''t hang it from the wall while it is charging.

The charge itself lasts between 8-12 minutes before suction weakens depending on the setting you are using. You can set it for only suction or suction with brush the latter seems to drain the battery very quickly. The manual states that, if fully discharged, then the battery needs 16 hours to recharge. I did not let it get to that point but even after charging for 12 hours I only got enough juice to use it for about 10 minutes.

The vacumn does use a filter which requires cleaning regularly if you are dealing with pet hair.Getting out all the dog hair from the canister was a pain because a lot of it got lodged under a flap that covers the suction tube. The crevice tool is built into the hand vac so when you are emptying the dirt container you have to extend the tool if you don''t want half the dirt stuck behind it. No biggie but something I couldn''t figure out initially. This interferes with getting dog hair out of the container as well.

The filter is washable so hopefully it will be a long while before it needs replacing.

The hand vac does have a crevice tool which is great for couches etc but, without a rolling brush, it can''t handle dog hair that is clinging to upholsery. I still have to rely on my ancient dirt devil hand vac for that.

All in all, this is a good assistant for your heavy duty corded vacuum which you will still need to take care of the real cleaning around the home. BUT if you have pets emptying the pet hair from the canister is ridiculously difficult.

I would not recommend this vacuum to anyone. Not sure why people like the design, every week I had to unclog the intake hole, which is always a pleasant experience. When it does work the thing sucks up the battery power way too quickly, I''ve had this for a year and it now sits in the storage room where we use the hand vacuum portion of it once in a while, then of course the battery dies. The nice thing about the design of the vacuum is that main handle folds down nicely to fit in your garbage can when you throw it away. Horrible vacuum for the money.

While I am not a huge fan of cleaning, I do enjoy using this Bissell vacuum. It''s very lightweight, making it much easier to reach for to clean instead of lugging the full-size vacuum out of the closet. I like that it has a smaller removable hand vac which is great for small messes. The suction seems powerful enough and it''s easy to dispose of the dust and then re-assemble the unit. The biggest downside is the charge it holds. As other reviewers have commented, this vacuum will function for around 10-15 minutes on a full charge. On the plus side, it''s handy, light and easy to use, but only for smaller areas or less heavy-duty messes.

Church And Dwight 35113 "kaboom" Scrub Free Toilet Cleaning System Save 18% Off

Church And Dwight 35113 ''kaboom'' Scrub Free Toilet Cleaning SystemI am writing a review of three toilet cleaning systems I''ve bought here on amazon:

Fluidmaster:

Uses a cartridge containing a chlorine based tablet.

Cartridge is not meant to be refilled.

Chlorine odor noticeable in the bathroom.

Cartridge can be modified (I used a dremel) so it is easily refilled.

NeverScrub:

Uses a cartridge containing a chlorine based crystal.

Cartridge is not meant to be refilled.

Chlorine odor noticeable in the bathroom.

Kaboom:

Does not use a cartridge. Bromine tablet refill inserts directly by unscrewing a cap.

No odor noticeable in the bathroom.

All three of these systems work the same way and all are really easy to install. All of them put a toilet cleaning chemical (tablets or crystals) in-line between the water fill valve and the toilet bowl fill pipe. All of them prevent the chemical from getting into the tank water (so there is no damage to the plastic parts in the tank). All sell refills for their systems. All keep the toilet bowl equally clean for about 1-3 months depending on how often it is flushed.

Amazon also sells Pool/Spa Cleaning Chlorine and Bromine tablets, which as far as I can tell do just as good a job keeping the toilets clean as the refills but at a fraction of the cost. I have tried all of the following, each of which provide enough tablets to keep all the toilets in the house clean for 10 years and they are all very cheap:

Kem-Tek 177:

The tablets fit well in the dremel-tool modified Fluidmaster cartridges.

The tablets fit well in the Kaboom.

The bathroom has a slight chlorine odor.

Spa-Kem 267:

The tablets are too large to fit in the Fluidmaster cartridges.

The tablets fit well in the Kaboom.

No odor.

Tropi Clear:

The tablets fit well in the dremel-tool modified Fluidmaster cartridges.

The tablets fit well in the Kaboom.

No odor.

Chlorine and Bromine are fairly equal in cleaning ability. Chlorine has that chlorine odor. Bromine is broken down by sunlight. Which is why, on a sunny day, outdoor pools use chlorine. But at night, or indoors, or on a cloudy day, they use bromine since there is no smell.

Summary. The Fluidmaster system works but the cartridges are expensive. To refill the cartridges easily requires a small modification with a dremel tool. The cartridge is too small for any tablets larger than 1 inch in diameter. The NeverScrub system also works but the cartridges are expensive. What I am using is the Kaboom system with the bromine tablets (either the Tropi Clear or the Spa-Kem 267) as they have no odor and clean just as well as the chlorine tablets.

Some of the reviewers reference another product they say is better, but i have never heard of or used the other product. I bought one of these as I saw some ads for it and I had water stain problems in the toilet bowl.

I could start to see and immediate change as the acid/bleach starting eating through the stains and then they were all gone, and stayed gone until a refill was needed and then I noticed the stains coming back.

Despite what others have said, I have never seen a toilet it wouldn''t work in as they are almost all made the same. The toilets are made to run some water from around the rim to rinse the sides. Perhaps the holes the water is supposed to come through are clogged so you don''t get an even distribution of the bleach around the bowl.

I just bought my first refill. When I looked at the tablets they have you refill with, they looked just like the bromide tablets in my hot tub. Rather than spending $6 for two refills (two tablets each), I am going to try my spa tablets next time which are way cheaper.

If you have a "normal" toliet, and if the toilet is working properly (water coming down all around the rim), this product WILL do the job it claims.

If you have a really badly stained toilet to begin with, I came up with a way to get a clean bowl to start with. I turned off the water supply, flushed the toilet to empty the water in the bowl. Then I jammed plastic bags into the hole to block it. Then I dumped a gallon of the cheapest vinegar I could find and let it sit overnight. The next day all the old hard water stains were gone and I had a "fresh" toilet to start with.

Tried to demonstrate how easy it is to install one of these as well as show people what it looks like and what is included in with the product.

I know when I first purchased this I wasn''t sure what to expect, this should make it clear!

Please note: 2 tablets are included as well as 1 spare short tube (not shown).

Sorry my toilet tank was so dirty, I wanted to show a fresh install. That toilet has been sitting for about 2 months unused and is about 5 years old overall. Getting the old refill tube from your toilet to fit onto the nozzle of the tablet reservoir can be tricky if the old tube is very stiff. It took me about 20 seconds or so after the video which I didn''t want to include due to time restraints, as I wasn''t sure how much time I had before I exceeded the 100mb file size limit. This was my first video review and I hope to include many more as I get better at it! Enjoy and please ask any questions you may have.

I''d recommend buying pool bromine tablets because the kaboom ones are very pricey.

I''ve used the older and newer versions, and they both work great for me. We had one toilet where we did not have either, and you could tell a huge difference in a week.

Want Church And Dwight 35113 "kaboom" Scrub Free Toilet Cleaning System Discount?

I have used the Puricle 110 system for 15-20 years, and it has worked great. I have not actually tried the Kaboom ''Scrub Free'' version of this same product yet, but wonder what has changed? It is just a little plastic container with a chubby chlorine tablet in the refill water line. The tablet only sits in water when it is refilling, and is not sitting in the bottom of the tank and constantly dissolving. Simple concept that works and makes the tablets last much longer. The darn container is too small to fit another brand of chlorine tablet in there.

If your toilet is really stained, this somewhat gentle product will take a week or so to bleach out the existing black mold that couldn''t first be scrubbed out. It won''t remove existing hard-water rings, but seems to help prevent them.

You may want to coat the container''s threads with Vaseline to make taking off the lid easier when you go to refill it; otherwise it tends to get crytals of chlorine inside the threads and can be tough to open. Vaseline also helps seal it better without having to over-tighten it. Most bathrooms have an old container of vaseline sitting around.

The quick way to get rid of hard water rings is to use a medium-hard pumice stone from the hardware store. It should dissolve slightly while you are using it. If it is gentle enough for your skin, it is OK for the porcelin.

Between the two (pumice and Scrub Free), you can have a clean toilet bowl in 10 minutes and keep it that way for months without doing anything further.

Wellness Carafe (2.3 Litres)

Wellness CarafeThe Wellness Carafe creates great tasting water. But now that I need a new filter, there are none to be found. I don''t know what the problem is but I fear I may have to buy a different brand to make sure I can replace filters.

Despite the fact that the lid broke as soon as I took this out of the box warning: be very careful with the lid I love this pitcher. We have really horrid water and this pitcher takes all of the bad taste out of the water. I can''t see it taking all the dangerous metals and particles and chemicals out of the water but I trust that it does that too. I''m sure that the taste of the water should be the least of my concerns but frankly I love a really neutral glass of water. Water is what I drink all day allergic to milk, won''t drink sugar pop or chemical pop, coffee makes me hyper. So to have a great pitcher of water in the fridge all the time is fantastic. I glued the cover it broke again. I called for a replacement they didn''t have one and although I wish it weren''t broken ..I still stand by my 5 star rating. I can only say the water is worth the badly designed and broken lid. But I wish they''d replace the lid.

This is a great filter pitcher. I love it..the water tastes cleaner, softer, just better water. I use already purified water that I like but am not just confident enough to use directly. So I clean it thru here and then use that definitely cleaner and fresher water for drinking and cooking. Love it.

I''ve used this RO system for a couple of weeks now and am quite happy with it. As I understand it, a reverse osmosis system will typically remove between 70 and 90% of the total dissolved solids from the inlet water. At present, this system is removing 88 to 92% of the TDS resulting in very good drinking water. I researched and priced several systems before purchasing this one. This unit is well made with good materials. In my opinion, it would be difficult to find a better system at this price.

Good deal for the cost of having 5 filtrations systems. And the taste was unbelievable. It took the plumber a little over an hour and another tube to install it. That brought his bill very close to the cost of the unit. This is not a complaint about the unit, just plumber rates. I checked several units, even spoke with someone who sold them and we both agreed the quality and price were unbeatable. Thank you again, Amazon.

Rejuvenate Cabinet and Furniture Restorer and Protectant

Rejuvenate Cabinet and Furniture Restorer and ProtectantI used the floor Restorer on the high traffic area of my wood floors and was happy with the result so I decided to try the Canbinet Restorer as well. First, this product yeilds a HIGH Gloss shine. If yu do not want a high gloss shine or your current surface is not high gloss and you are not adept at applying this evenly do not use it. I don''t mean to imply it is difficult to use because it is not, just that it may not be for everyone. Second, this product is labeled as a "Cabinet and Furniture" restorer. I used it on my stained (as opposed to painted) wood kitchen cabinets and it worked fabulously. I also used in on tops of certain wood furniture that had become scuffed. However, similar to the woman below I would not recommend using this on a kitchen or dining room table or any surface where you expect to have to clean it with chemical cleaners as it is not meant for that. It will come off/change if exposed to that. That being said my wood floors and wood cabinets stay looking great by cleaning with water or my wood floor water based cleaner or (on the cabinets) furniture polish. I''d recommend it if they are old before replacing or re-finishing try it... what have you got to lose?

I was out of options for my solid surface counter tops, so I tried Rejuvenate. It did the best job of anything I tried, there was a beautiful, high gloss and it holds up for weeks with just wiping with wet, soapy sponge. Even a mild bleach solution didn''t seem to ruin it. Anything with ammonia such as glass cleaner will kill it instantly however -cleaning the window above the counter you could see exactly where overspray hit the countertop. The only way to fix it was to give it a light sanding with a scrubby and re-apply. The real down side for me? I''m hooked on the shine, now I have to keep buying the stuff for when it wears off.

Buy Rejuvenate Cabinet and Furniture Restorer and Protectant Now

There are a lot of glowing reviews for this product, but read the caveats carefully. It might be all right for an old Formica countertop since those are practically indestructible and you can use a variety of products to remove the Rejuvenate later.

I made the mistake of using Rejuvenate Cabinet and Furniture Restorer on all my kitchen cabinets and moved on to the bedroom furniture without even knowing what''s in the product.

The cabinets and furniture looked shiny and pretty only as long as the product was wet. Once dry, there was no noticeable change or improvement in the appearance of the wood. Even days later the surfaces feel sticky and gummy, even a little gritty. If anything the wood seems drier than it did before using Rejuvenate. If I can''t find another product to get this OFF my furniture it''s going to be a real pain trying to remove the dust and dirt that will be virtually "glued on" the surfaces.

It might be alright as a temporary fix for something you are either planning to throw away or refinish anyway, but don''t use this on anything you want to use and keep as is. A little Old English Furniture Polish: Lemon Oil 8 OZ would be a much better option for your wood and just as easy to apply.

If you value your furniture steer clear of this!

I applied the product to my sealed cherry dining room table as instructed. Whenever I place a hot or cold item on the table (it is a dining room table, after all), even with placemats or other protectants, the finish turns a cloudy white that can only be removed with vigorous scrubbing with a wet cloth so as not to scratch the surface underneath. I am now looking for a way to remove the dull, spotty finish without having to spend hours scrubbing away. I do not recommend this product.

we were planning on using polyurethane to apply a gloss look to the cabinets. I saw the infomercial and noticed that the sell it at Home Depot, so I figure the $12 dollars was worth the try before all the work with the polyurethane. It took 2 hours to apply to a medium size kitchen (2 applications). The results were awesome! I tested a small area first and was so impressed, I jumped right in to complete the rest. I am now working on all the bathrooms. enjoy! Oh for reference, the cabinets were 3yrs old but very dull looking.

Zojirushi Premium Thermal Carafe Save 2% Off

Zojirushi Premium Thermal 1.85 liter Carafe, Brushed Stainless SteelI have had this carafe & a larger version for 10 years & still am amazed at how long the coffee stays hot! If you want the liquid to stay hot even longer, pre-heat the carafe with hot tap water. I do this on colder mornings when I know I want the coffee to stay hot until later in the day. Even my picky, engineer, coffee addict of a husband who prefers lawsuit hot coffee says it works okay!

I purchased this product because I wanted a thermal carafe that would hold more than run of the mill carafes you find at your local discount store. At first the carafe performed beautifully. But after a few months use, I noticed that the stopper top mechanism was sticking. This is the pushbutton device that opens the stopper to dispense the liquid and closes at the touch of a button when you are done pouring and want to close the carafe to keep the heat in. I consulted the instruction sheet that accompanied the item and there were instructions for cleaning the stopper top to prevent the sticking. I followed the directions carefully but this did not cure the problem. So I went to Zojirushi''s website and left a message for Customer Support, detailing my problem. After several weeks and no answer, this morning I called Zojirushi''s toll free Customer Support number. I got the shock of my life when I was informed that all non-electric Zojirushi products do not carry any sort of warranty! I couldn''t believe what I was hearing, so I checked the paperwork that accompanied the product and, sure enough, there is no warranty whatsoever. I informed the Customer Support person that I would never, ever, buy another Zojirushi product again.

While the carafe does an excellent job of keeping hot beverages hot for long periods of time, the fact that you have to insert your fingernail into the mechanism to get the carafe to close speaks loudly of a design defect that Zojirushi knows about (why else would they print detailed instructions on correcting the problem that are included with all new purchases?) and refuses to correct. Never again for me for a Zojirushi product.

I got 2 of these 3 weeks ago and now it is selling for $5 less which is very annoying. That aside, I was happy to report that the ones I got haven''t had the problem of the other reviewers. My family have been used a Zojurushi thermal for over 20 years and it finally had to be retired since we cracked it. We use it to keep water hot. I did a test, 12 hours after I put boiling water in, I checked the termperature, it was 152F which is not boiling but hot enough to scorch my mouth. It does what it''s supposed to and it has that industrial styling, if that''s what you like.

We would suggest that this product be advertised specifically as having a "glass liner". We were looking for an altogether stainless steel carafe and thought we were getting one. Based on favorable reviews of this product, we would have kept it and given it a try even though it was not what we were expecting. HOWEVER, the "glass liner" was shattered when we received it, presumably in shipping?? We did not want to take another chance on it and so, we simply sent it back.

Yes, it holds it''s temperature but the top lid collects either condensation or whatever is in the carafe and you can''t get it out.

Very unhealthy, it should be recalled and addressed.

For this price I expect better. This is poor design.

PUR CR-6000C 2-Stage Oval Water Pitcher Save 33% Off

PUR CR-6000C 2-Stage Oval Water Pitcher with LED IndicatorThe PUR CR-6000C 2 Stage Oval Water Pitcher with LED Indicator has some very strong positives that make it a good choice. However, it also has some weaknesses that will hopefully be addressed in a re-design. As long as you know what the weaknesses are, you should be able to get more use of the benefits of this product than some people have reported.

Pros:

+ Takes up a small amount of floor space

+ Great 2 stage filters leak less filter debris than other filters

+ It has an attractive look with a sleek body

+ The included indicator reminds you when to change filters

+ The price is very reasonable on an annual basis

Cons:

The body isn''t as solid as it could be, so use both hands to pick it up

The filters seem to run out quickly

Removing the cover takes some practice

The slim form factor has a smaller footprint and takes up less space, but it also puts more weight on the handle and the body every time you pick it up. So most of the complaints about cracking are due to the slim oval design, and not just the thickness of the pitcher. How do you compensate for that? Simply use your other hand to hold the front of the pitcher when you pick it up and relieve some of the pressure on the body and handle.

The other common complaint has to do with the design of the lid, which seems to make the pitcher difficult to fill. But after the first time, the lid opens much more easily. Simply put your thumb into the back tab of the lid an it will open easily. What''s more, this model has the added benefit of having a nice seal when closed, so refrigerator odors won''t get into your water. Just make sure to wait till your water has gone through the filter before putting it away, to avoid spilling.

Other than the obvious savings of cutting down on bottled water and the plastic waste that comes with it, the best feature of this pitcher has to be the filter. As a long-time Brita user, I got tired of the filter material ending up in my water. Not only does the two stage filter of this model screw in securely, it has less seepage of filter material. And of course, most importantly, the water tastes great. I can''t comment on whether or not it removed more bacteria, because I didn''t run any scientific tests. But the taste was definitely an improvement over other filters.

Now there is a larger dispenser that may be better for those with space in their fridge for it. Obviously you will have less breakage issues, but it takes up much more room. So it''s a trade-off.

The flashing indicator on the top is meant to calculate how many refills you have gone through, and it will tell you when you have to change your filter. Even at $20 for a three pack, this system basically comes out to $60 a year for filters and the pitcher. Not bad, even if you had to replace the pitcher every year.

Overall, despite the warts this is a good product. If you don''t have the room for the larger dispenser, or the faucet mount, then this will work for you. Just handle it with care.

Enjoy.

The 2-stage filter produces water that tastes so good, I''ve stopped drinking bottled water (at home, anyway). As a result I find myself filling the pitcher several times a day, much more often than I filled my Brita pitcher.

The functional design of the pitcher, however, could easily be better. Its pour spout is open to the air, while Brita''s is covered, leaving the water exposed to dust, as well as to odors in the fridge. It''s the equivalent of leaving a bottle of water uncapped all day or longer.

In addition, removing the top in order to add water requires more effort than it should; whoever designed it doesn''t seem to have considered that the top must be separated from the filtration chamber. (For that purpose I''ve developed a technique where I pull the chamber up with my left hand while my right thumb releases the top from it.)

The LED light on top of the lid is activated by pouring, simply by the tilt of the pitcher. It''s supposed to measure the amount of water you pour so you know when to get a new filter. If you pour one glass at a time, this will probably give you an accurate measurement. However, if you pour fractions of a glass, or potfulls, or if you tilt the lid when you remove it, it becomes a not very useful gimmick.

Despite the issues with the pitcher, which I hope someone at PUR takes seriously, the quality of the water makes this a product I''d recommend.

I have had my Pur Pitcher for about 3 weeks now with no problems. I fill it in the sink, sit it on the counter for about 10 minutes to let it filter a bit and then stick it in the fridge.

We use it for a quick glass of water, to fill the coffee pot, or for anything else we feel we want cleaner-than-tap water for.

We certainly do notice a different in taste. The Pur water definitely tastes cleaner. I think we have decent city water to start with, so I am sure that helps with the filtration life, but I do wish it was at least 3 stage and not 2 stage.

I also wich it could fill itself. My significant other usually forgets the recipe for water and I am stuck filling the coffee pot with tap water in the morning ;)

UPDATE: ONE YEAR LATER

Still works like a charm. No cracks that others complained about. Just change the filter regularly and you have delicious, refreshing, clean water. And I am happy to report the GF learned to fill it up when she empties it ;)

Agreed with all the reviews around the cheap quality of the plastic the handle will break off, the pitcher begins cracking simple from pressure of the water, and the pour spills easily. Not recommended until they improve the design.

Want PUR CR-6000C 2-Stage Oval Water Pitcher Discount?

I purchased this water filter pitcher to replace a Brita Pitcher after I learned that Brita filters don''t filter out any microbes or pharmaceuticals, but only chlorine, etc. The design is great. Unlike my previous Brita filterBRITA Water Filtration System Kit 1 Pitcher Vintage Model (Large Capacity) plus 2 Fliters this one consists of three easy to clean parts, the pitcher, the basin, and the lid. When you pour from the pitcher, the LED flashes, indicating the status of the filter. It''s not measuring anything when you pour, pouring simply activates the LED and tells you how much time has passed since you set the timer, indicating its state as working or not. Though it may filter a tad slower than the Brita filter, the time difference is not significant, and the fact that it removes 96% of pharmaceuticals, and microbial cysts makes it well worth it. If you enjoy the convenience of having an LED to remind you when it''s time to change filters, I would definitely recommend this model. If you don''t mind using the stickers that come with the filters to remind you when to change, or have enough confidence in your memory to do without either, I would recommend saving the money and buying one of these models: PUR CR-6000 2 Stage Oval Water Pitcher or PUR Water Pitcher with Bonus Trial-Size Samples

Cold Drip Coffee and Tea Maker Save 9% Off

Cold Drip Coffee and Tea Maker, 8-CupI recommend this unit even though it is a little bit pricey. After living in Japan years ago, I wanted to try my luck at making Japanese ice coffee at home. There are not that many choices around and considering that the Oji unit from Japan (seen at shops like Blue Bottle) goes for more than $1000USD w/shipping & duties, I took a shot at this little 8-cup Yama unit from Taipei for $200 here at Amazon. It''s as good a coffeemaker as it is a conversation piece. Good ice coffee is no fad. This is a different (and SLOW) method to make really smooth and intense ice coffee with less than 2/3 the acid of hot-brewed.

The unit arrived (via UPS) VERY well packed and unbroken. It took just a few minutes to put it together using the instruction sheet (see it here) http://www.fantes.com/manuals/yama-cold-drip-coffee.pdf Be careful NOT to over tighten the 4 screw-in feet into the baseboard as it''s easy to punch one thru the top of the baseboard as I did.

The included filters; one rinsable permanent ceramic filter which goes into the bottom of the coffee bowl to trap grounds, and some paper filters to place on top of the coffee. Use of the top paper filter is KEY to full flavor. The purpose of the filter is to SLOWLY distribute water EVENLY over the entire coffee bowl. Without the filter in the top, the drip will hit dead-center in the coffee bowl resulting in the water making it''s way to the bottom of the coffee bowl too quickly without completely extracting all of the coffee. I use those cheap unbleached (brown) paper filters for drip machines by folding it inward into a circle and fitting into the top of the coffee bowl. Cheap and works great.

Without a scale to measure-out 80 grams, I will scoop 12 heaping tablespoons of coffee into the bowl for a full pot (quart). Works well. Experiment with different coffees for different flavors. Sumatran beans from World Market make a real flavorful brew. Make sure to grind medium to coarse. Fine grinds can result in bitterness.

With the top jar full of water it makes about a quart of CONCENTRATED coffee nectar that can be placed in a glass jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks...as if it''s really going to last that long! Old 2-qt OJ jars make for good fridge storage. The bottom glass beaker that catches the fresh coffee comes with a glass cap for fridge storage. It takes 3.5 to 4 hours to make a pot if you''re dripping at the recommended rate of 35-40 drips per minute. The petcock regulating waterflow works well enough. You can use cold water without the need to add ice. Either way is OK.

This "8-Cup Yama Water Drip Coffee & Tea Maker" is aesthetically quite pleasing in the corner of our countertop and the coffee is fun to make. It is a little over 2 feet tall. There are cheaper ways and methods to make Kyoto-style cold drip coffee but this method is not at all as messy as are some. All the glass and the ceramic filter easily rinse clean. And because the reviewer above stated that product support is solid if you break any of the 6 glass pieces, all the more reason to recommend.

My brother gave me this as a Christmas present and I''ve had it for over a year. It makes great coffee and looks wonderful on my kitchen countertop. Unfortunately, I banged one of the glass parts and cracked it last week. It still works, but I''m looking for a replacement piece before the crack spreads too much.

Avoid this if you need something that isn''t easy to break, but otherwise it''s really cool!

Update: I called the company that made this coffee maker today. They are sending a replacement part via priority mail. Hence the 5 stars. Great coffee, great look, great customer service.

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend after a similar model in a coffee shop piqued our interest. The coffee produced by this method is exceptional more for the process than the taste. The taste, while delicious, is indistinguishable from authentic Kona coffee. My boyfriends gift arrived with a broken lid even though it appeared to be packed carefully. Replacement took a little longer than we expected, but it was a non-essential part and it didn''t take away from our overall experience. I would buy this again.

A whole new experience in cold coffee. Creates a smooth even flavor for drinking cold coffee. Every single person who likes cold coffee and tries it this way exclaims "This is awesome, I want some more." I can''t make it fast enough.

If you use a French Press for hot coffee, you need this for your cold coffee. Same grind, complete different taste! :-)

This filter was 1/16" too large at the bottom to fit in my filter housing. I had to remove the plastic ring around the outside of the bottom to get it to seat properly. However, once I did this it fit in my housing and the water tasted very good.

Hamilton Beach 43253 Ensemble 12-Cup Coffeemaker Save 33% Off

Hamilton Beach 43253 Ensemble 12-Cup Coffeemaker with Glass Carafe, RedWe had no need for a new coffee pot. The free one from Gevelia was working just fine. However, on a recent trip to K-mart we caught this one on sale for just under 40 bucks, and it''s RED! We''ve slowly been building up a counter top of red kitchen appliances, so the coffee maker fits right in!

Easy to clean! The mouth of the pitcher is as wide as the base, so it''s easy to get your hand inside to clean it out unlike some. Few buttons, so it''s easy to program too. Very light weight, so it''s also easy to move the maker around if needed. No complaints about speed either. I never feel like I''m waiting on it to finish. One small complaint, but it''s nothing major...there is no room for going over the 12 cup limit. It will overflow! Some makers have a little room for you to overfill, but not this one! No biggie, just don''t overfill!

I also like the wide karaff on this one. A lot of pitchers have a weird karaff that always causes you to spill a few drops when pouring that first cup. Not this one! Clean up of the coffee ground chamber is easy too. I suggest investing in one of those permanent copper reusable filters. They work really well with this one. I have yet to end up with grounds in the coffee.

Had an old Braun that kept clogging up and leaking water all over the counter. Had sticker shock when I started to shop online and other places for a replacement. Something relatively simple with a decent capacity as one cup of hot coffee for me equals about four cups as measured on the carafe. It brews quick and is pretty painless to use. It can use a permanent filter(not included) or paper filters and I''ve used both. If you want a stronger cup of coffee then you need to add more coffee grounds or use a stronger blend. The brew cycle is not adjustable for strength. It''s solid, well built, and the glass carafe feels easier to handle than the typical glass pot. Easy to Clean. A Good Basic Design.

yes it does have a short cord; yes it utilizes extra counter space; yes the water arm has to be moved before filling it with coffee; and yes, it is a 12 cup pot with no extra BUT, this hamilton beach is the BEST auto-coffeemaker i have ever owned -going back 40 years and many different brands and models.

it''s fast, programmable, pretty and makes great coffee. who could ask for more?

2/2/11 UPDATE having this wonderful coffeemaker since 10/07, i have only two words to say: TRULY WONDERFUL!!

Want Hamilton Beach 43253 Ensemble 12-Cup Coffeemaker Discount?

After having other coffeemakers that are hard to clean, slow, unnecessarily complicated, we finally have one that we hope never dies. It''s sleek, easy, makes great coffee and at a much faster pace than our previous machine (that died at two years-old!! ARGHHH!). Granted, it doesn''t grind the beans for you, but as anyone who has used the Cuisinart Grind & Brew, or something similar, those combos result in a steamy wet mess to clean up every time you brew. Too much moisture from brewing gets into the grinder portion. Also, since the grinding basket has to be dry when you use it, if you forget to clean it out right after use (like you''re late for work and the pot is low priority!) and discover your lapse the next day--too late to grind then. So, we have a separate grinder now, and love our Hamilton Beach. Besides, look at it. It''s just plain cool!

G4 Ultra Filtration Hot/Cold Water Dispenser

G4 Ultra Filtration Hot/Cold Water DispenserThe cooler was delivered ontime and had a better feel to it than I thought it might. One of the connectors was bad and customer service was excellent, shipping a replacement right away. The quick connectors were easy to use. Hot and cold filtered water has been awesome for our staff and for the board meetings. The only negative was pretty easy to fix: it made a rattling sound when the compressor stopped, which was becoming pretty distracting during meetings. I found the issue was the spring for the cup holder. It was easy to remove the spring, with one screw on the bottom, then I wrapped the spring to keep it from hitting the sides it has been great. This filtering system does not need a drain but if you have a drain nearby you can drain the overfill cup right into it.

BISSELL Spotbot Pet Handsfree Spot and Stain Cleaner Save 28% Off

BISSELL Spotbot Pet Handsfree Spot and Stain Cleaner with Deep Reach Technology, 33N8AWell our 2 older cats (Lucy & Ethel) don''t get sick often at all. For that I am grateful since I (the husband) am retired, and stuck to face whatever disaster comes while the wife is at work. But I am squeamish when it even comes to scooping their "you know what" when it is time and actually wear a gas mask if forced to do that job. I may be a USMC Combat Veteran, but I draw the line at liter boxes & Diapers! I may be brave, but I AIN''T no HERO!

My wife just bought an upright steam cleaner from Eureka since all our carpet is now about 20 years old. It was expensive carpet and we have no kids so it has worn extremely well but is still getting tired. And since I retired I keep getting into trouble for bringing in grease or oil stains after working on our motorcycles or motor scooters. No matter what I do, I am always getting into trouble one way or the other. It''s kind of like I am a 62 year old Dennis The Menace according to the wife? Well her big & expensive steam cleaner is more trouble than I will EVER go to to use and when she is done with it we sometimes have a "fair" measure of success, most often not and it even seems to expand whatever the stain by spreading it around. NOT good and once that happens, nothing we try helps.

For the record, we used to just use Resolve or other similar cleaning chemicals & do the best we could by hand. At least this way we never, EVER made the stains worse. When I saw this to try on the Amazon Vine Program I knew it would just be another gadget that would stink, leak and aggravate me more than the LAST gimmick I tried....Before I get into my trial of this machine, here are a couple things you may or may not already know. It has 5 different buttons.

1 for Fresh Surface Stains.

1 for Set IN OLDER Stains.

1 for Pause & Resume

1 for Hose Attachment

1 for "STOP"

You choose whichever chemical you desire and add water also. Press the button for whatever type stain you have after placing the cleaner over your stain. The computer on-board will do the rest! 2 different brushes move in a weird way I can only describe as a motion similar to the motion of a car motor with a rotary engine. It''s actually kind of hypnotic to watch but I was afraid to just LEAVE IT since the wife''s steam cleaner can cause so much damage...I also have to admit this is designed for smaller "spot" type stains, NOT cleaning an entire carpet so just understand while it may work well for your different type stains, NOT just pet stains, it is for localized areas, not large sections of carpet. I also have to admit that since I don''t have any pet stains but had 8 grease stains, that is what I tried this on. And it was so simple I didn''t wait for my wife to get home and tell me I am "doing it wrong!) as usual either. I had 6 of the stains that were very OLD stains. I mean over 10 years old. The other 2 fresher (maybe a month old) from the latest motorcycle servicing....

This little unit actually worked. I mean it got out ALL of the stains, all 8. I have no idea how? More important, how it does so much better than a high priced steam cleaner. Maybe it it the chemicals used (provided with this unit)? Maybe the design of the brushes, or probably the combination? I don''t know, I don''t care. I used the "tough stain'' setting which took 6 minutes to cycle through. (Easier "surface stains" only require a 3 minute cycle to clean.) I also used the hand manual cleaner to soak up some more of the wetness left after it finished. How can I NOT give this 5 stars? I never ever do until I have owned it over a year to verify it''s durability. But this surpassed our other efforts by SO much I am beginning with a full 5 stars this time. If anything changes, I always update and will do so again with this & lower my rating if needed. But given the amazing job this did on such a wide variety of stains (old & new alike), I doubt this 5 stars will ever get downgraded? Short of blowing up, or leaking & stinking like all before it, it will deserve every bit of my 5 star rating.

A couple of thing maybe worth adding?

-It has a 7 Inch brush area

-Has a NICE 16 foot cord!

-Tank holds 32 ounces

-LOVE that it has a carry handle

-Includes BOTH the Oxy Gen 2 cleaner (16 ounces) AND 2X Ultra Pet Stain & Oder Chemical (8 ounces) TRIAL sizes however!

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

1st Update:

-Oh SHOCK! My wife is home and pointed out 2 more stains I missed. She says I "never see them, never will" whatever that means? Worked again on both and these are about 4-6 weeks old per my mean old wife....And I need to also point out a very important item. Even on these stains we could never get out using ANYTHING we ever tried? ALL we used was the single chemical provided called "2X Pet Stain"! Now I did set the computer at the full "SET IN OLDER STAINS" Program but never even added any of the so called Oxy Gen 2 cleaner they ask you to use for that setting. Never even needed it. This machine just keeps surprising me to no end. The cats sneak up on it to attack when it goes into it''s quiet mode. But when that mode changes and the vacuum parts comes on? They are 2 20 pounds (EACH) old lady cats on a new quest to break the sound barrier in their retreat! Fun for the whole family.....

UPDATE Much later on December 17 2011: OK, still working like a charm. I just spilled 4 beers I had just opened and not yet touched (Please, just don''t even ASK!) and knocked them all over when moving a pile of Amazon deliveries that just arrived. Spilled full 48 ounces of beer on an expensive carpet under the bar table (pub table actually). Thank God my 2 cats Lucy & Ethel LOVE beer.... They both came running from their afternoon coma''s and dove in to help. I guess they just don''t know if there will be a new treat of new disaster to enjoy when I scramble to save myself. So I dig this thing out and here we are, so much later and it still works 100% as well as always. Just need to tell you this little jewel is STILL as reliable at cleaning up as I am at making a mess. If you don''t hear from me till next year it''s probably ciz the old woman locked me in the garage again......

UPDATE, March 23 2012: Well the plot thickens. I took up home brewing with 2 new Coopers DIY 6 gallons (each) home beer brewing kits. Now i know what you must be thinking....OK, you''re right. But stuff just happens I tell ya. I mean, with all the work & transfer of fluids going on it is simply flat impossible to not spill. And I have to keep it all inside due to temperature control. Anyway, this little Bissell Spotbot may just end up in Court. No, not what you thing this time. THIS time my wife is considering legal adoption of the thing. I know it doesn''t get used every single day. Well MOST days anyway. But it does get used every week. And I have to say the old wife would never even know anything has gone wrong if it weren''t for the 2 cats ( Lucy & Ethel) who ALWAYS lead her to whatever spot I have cleaned and flat out rat me out. The fat lazy cats won''t even get up to play in their old age but they damned well LOVE to watch fireworks when they show go sniffing around whatever it is I have cleaned and then act all "innocent". Bottom line is this thing may outlive me? And according to my wife, it better....

UPDATE Jan 7 2013:

Well this is STILL used weekly and not a single failure. Now I fail daily, my 2 cats Lucy & Ethel are old and ALSO fail daily (but the mean old wife never beats them like she does me!), and this device has saved me from continual mayhem by the wife. I am so grateful to this device. I figure I must feel the same level of gratitude that some husbands must feel when they need Viagra at this point?

I was drawn to this product because of its promise to effortlessly tackle set-in stains, of which there are several in my often-used den thanks to my cat and two-year-old. The Spotbot was pretty easy to set up right out of the box, and it came with two solution bottles. Once I started to use it on the first problematic area, I realized the limitations. It is, indeed, a SPOT bot, meaning that it can only handle a very small circular area, about six inches in diameter, during one five-minute cleaning cycle. For small stains, this is fine and the product works well. But for those of us with a larger area, or several small stains, it will take a great deal of time and effort to use the Spotbot. The two bottles that came with the product were completely used up after three cleaning cycles.

I last used the Spotbot about two weeks ago, and before writing this review, I revisited the spots since, according to the paperwork, it could take as long as 72 hours for the cleaning fluid to work its magic. While those three circular areas were much cleaner than before, I noticed that the circular pattern in my carpet was still there two weeks later and the carpet was pretty hard and crusty in those spots. And this was after I followed all of the instructions, including an initial vacuum pass before starting the cleaning cycle.

I was very happy to recieve the Bissel Spotbot cleaner as I''ve had some extremely stubborn organic BUT not pet-based stains in my carpet.

(Though I''m glad I do have it for when we do get a dog in the near future.)

The stairs and the area around our TV are the most difficult areas to keep up with spot cleaning due to foot traffic, frequency food and drink spills, and awkwardness of reaching many of the stains.

I normally use an Earth-friendly spot spray that generaaly does a good job if I get to the stain quick enough, but as I said I have some very stubborn areas.

The day the Spotbot arrived, I immediately set it to work on an area on the stairs.

NOTE: read ALL of the instructions before starting AND make sure the cap on the HOT water tank is secured properly before putting the tank in place or you''ll have a spillout like I did.

The Spotbot is super easy to use, but not brainless.

Back to the stairs...

I considered using the hands-free option, but given the location of the spots I couldn''t. The manual option worked very well, though.

So well in fact, I got moving around to every annoying stain area that came to mind (including stuff that was here when we moved in 5 years ago) and the Spot Bot dealt with it all.

I have to add that I think it''s rather user friendly if you use it mindfully while you have a baby crawling around. And though I think the solutions are pet and kid fiendly as they say, I woyldn''t use this in an area where baby will soon play.

Overall I was EXTREMELY pleased with my experience (except for how darn noisy the thing is...like ten times more than my hair dryer). So much so that when some red wine was spilled on our cream carpet over the weekend I didn''t spring up to deal with.

"Meh," I told my husband. "I''ll Spotbot it tomorrow."

Seems Bissell made design changes to the SpotBot Pet and this is the NEW listing on Amazon. I am copying over my original review from ASIN B000NNZ2WU. If you go there you will see my review and it shows I am someone who did buy it. I feel this review can be placed here because in the end I ended up with the unit in this listing. You really ought to read the full review below anhd see why I do not like this unit and suggest you not buy it...

---COPY OF REVIEW FROM ASIN B000NNZ2WU----

It pains me to have to give this product only 2 stars.

I originally bought the Pet Spot Bot in 2003 I believe (may have been 2004) at a Linens and Things. I loved the unit. It was a miracle come true for one who owned 7 cats at the time. The unit cleaned perfect, worked great and I had no complaints. Over the years our extremely hard water here (for those of you who know how to rate hardness, we are about 112 grains! YES for real. With the softener we have we end up with about 15, but that is still exceedingly hard) destroyed the unit. It was caked with buildup and clogging from the calcium and iron. It finally died in the spring and I decided I had to get another. I bought the next on Amazon. When it arrived I noted it had undergone a few changes. Namely it felt a lot cheaper and the unit look cheaper. The plastic was all thinner and more flexible and the containers were a lot thinner and I noted that the new units are made in China, unlike my original unit. I shrugged it off and decided that with the new unit I would ONLY use distilled water. The first use was good, and it cleaned very well. In fact it seemed to clean well each time, except not the unit was leaking from the bottom somewhere. So I exchanged it. The next unit did the same. It would clean well, but leave a good sized puddle behind, and God forbid you leave the cleaning fluid dispenser in the unit as it leaked ALL the liquid out in less than 24 hours. So I contacted Bissell about the problem and they said they never had this issue before. (I have a hard time believing that) They exchanged it for me again and I received the new unit a couple months ago. Initially it worked fine and no leaking, but every time I use it it leaks more and more. This morning I had to use it to clean up a spot where one of our (now 5) cats (who is ill right now) threw up on the carpet. It cleaned it very well, but when I lifted the unit up when it finished there was a 4 inch wet spot where the back of the unit sat. I used a rag and the unit itself to suck the liquid from the carpet. It has also been leaking when it sits in the utility room between uses, so now I take the cleaning fluid tank out of the unit and place it in the utility sink when not in use. I also clean out the waste tank every time I use it.

Generally it still works well, you simply need to clean up the pebbles it leaves behind.

Bissell, if you guys actually read the reviews here, how about fixing the new version of this unit? Why did you have to make it so cheaply now? If/when I find another brand unit that cleans well and does not leak, the Spot Bot will end up in the garbage. Till then, the benefits of it out weight the bad points.

---UPDATE FROM NOVEMBER 30th 2010---

Well, the replacement Bissell had given us is officially going back to them again for replacement! If you use the hose and manual mode, the unit decides it will empty the entire water/cleaner chamber out of the automatic nossle under the unit. The ENTIRE tank just empties into the carpet, leaving a huge soppiung wet area on the carpet! I am very angry with Bissell at this point. Speaking with them I explained how many complaints are on Amazon for a leaking issue and wanted to know why they do this. They avoided the question, so I reasked. They avoided it again, so I reasked. THey avoided it and I said "Please stop refusing to answer my question... A lot of Amazon Reviews claim the same issues. There is obviously a problem. Are you aware of the quantity of reviews and is there a known issue?" Finally she said "We know of no problems with this product. It functions well." What a load. Well, my 3rd unit will be replaced by them now. *sigh* If you are looking at this product to buy, carefully read the reviews and give it a lot of thought.

---UPDATE FROM January 17th 2011---

I received the replacement in late December, but had not had a chance to use it till this weekend. This time they did not send me a new one, but a referbished unit. Okay, I suppose I could live with that, but thought the original purchase was 6 months ago, we have spent the entire time fighting eith broken units. The issye I had was that they sent me a referbished Green Unit, not the Pet. Beyond that, the referbished unit was also broken. The ONLY button on the unit that works is the "manual start" button! So I called them again this morning and this time requested to speak to a manager. When I questioned why I received a referbished unit I was told that it is policy if the unit was bought over 3 months ago. I explained that the original was bout, then 2 months later they had to send a new unit to replace it and then 2.5 months later this unit. I was told it is 3 months from the "original purchase date". I explained I have yet to get more than a few uses out of it and I wanted a NEW unit. They decided to do this for me. I then asked why I recieved the "Green" machine not the Pet and I was told that they are actually the same unit, just a different color and wording on the unit. (What the hell? So bissell charges MORE for the same unit if you get the ''Pet'' unit???)

So now I wait for the shipping tags again so I can send in this "green" unit and get a NEW Pet unit (which by admission is the same as the Green except for the name and color). Once I get it I''ll add to this review again.

I have had the NEW replacement unit for 2 months now. THey have done a complete overhaul on the unit and it is different in shape and size now. I like the new look more. It worked great through 12 cleanings. Today our senior cat has a problem and I had to do a lot of cleaning on the carpet. After 7 continuous cleanings this morning, the unit made an odd "pop" sound and no more suction. If you turn it off and then back on you get suction again, but after 20 to 45 seconds it makes a "pop" sound and loses all suction.

That is it. I have had it with the Bissell SpotBot. The original unit from 8 or 9 years ago was great and well build and worked like a champ. The new and cheaper made units are just not worth it. I''ll call Bissell again in a few days and get ANOTHER replacement, but I''ll sell it on eBay right away. I need to find a DIFFERENT manufacturer who makes a hand held cleaner or unit like the SpotBot now. I have given up. If I could give it ZERO stars out of 100 I would.

I have never written a review on anything before, but this machine is AMAZING. I have an older cat who has "intestinal issues". I use this thing every day sometimes up to 5 or 6 times a day (to get all the big and little "issue" spots). At first I would clean/scrub it by hand using OxyPro carpet cleaner but mostly all that did was spread it around. I got tired of that and just used the Spot Bot from the start. It completely cleans the carpet and doesn''t leave a stain on my light carpet even from darkest accidents. HINT: Instead of buying the expensive OxyGen additive for tough stains, use a tiny scoop of the OxyClean OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover, Powder 24 oz (680 g) powder in the tank with the detergent and water. Also, I had one of these previously when I didn''t need it too often. I left a tank still filled with water on the unit for some time (b/c the OxyGen and detergent aren''t that cheap) and when I went to use it sometime later, it wouldn''t work. Always take the detergent tank off and empty the waste tank after using. It''s amazing! COULDN''T LIVE WITHOUT IT!
