Toastess Electric Jug Kettle Save 9% Off

Toastess Electric Jug Kettle, WhiteThis little kettle is just what you get for the money. No hype, no nonsense. Just a good electric kettle that boils water

I find it takes 10 mins. to boil the water, but what do you expect for 29 bucks. I would liked to have know that the cord does not detach at all, which makes filling it and using it to pour water difficult.

Pretty good as kettle.

But on/off button is unreliable.

Mine died in 1 month.

Works great! Affordable! I love the fact it shuts itself off after the water boils. Heats fast. Safe for use at home or work. It works just as well as the higher priced models.

The lid is a bit difficult to open and shut, but what in life isn''t a bit difficult? Get over it. The thing heats very quickly, I think 2-3 minutes for the minimum setting which is one serving. Pours easily, is balanced nicely for a small hand. The plug doesn''t come out but then, it''s easy to clean with a damp cloth inside and out. It''s just water. I love the shut off. I don''t have to worry about it boiling and boiling. Energy saving. Keeps the water hot a good while after it''s shut off. Mine is still plugging along after daily use for 5 months and I expect it to continue much longer. Great kettle. I wish it came in colors.

The search is over!! This kettle does everything I want it to do; boil water quickly and shut itself off when I take too long to return to the kitchen! I really like the fact that it holds enough water for 4 mugs of tea! Handy when I have guests. It''s fast, too! I didn''t want anything fancy or expensive, but did want something I could rely on. This is a great tea kettle; I bought one for myself and one for my mother!

Cuisinart GF-80-3PK Replacement Filter (3 Pack)

Cuisinart GF-80-3PK Replacement Filter, 3 PackThe taste of water is strong in the beginning but then it subsides. Very economical replacement for bottled water. Overall rating very good.

While the filter is a bit slow, the result is good and we no longer have to schlep bottles or have bottling service use our drive way as storage facility for water bottles.

The taste or rather lack of taste is perfect.

First of all, these came in plastic bag instead of regular Cuisinart Box. Since I have used these filters many times, I thought it was odd. I, then soaked in water as usual (15 min. or so). When I took it out of water, black water came out of the filter. This never happened before. I, then let the water through (in the sink) for about 1/2 hour or so, to make sure clean water will be going through. I, then placed it in the tank. Water will not go through. Next day, I have noticed about 1/2 of top water went through. Then stoped again. I have returned all three to Amazon.com. Since, these did not come in the regular Cuisinart box, I am not sure if it''s real. We are talking about drinking water here. I am ordering from the Cuisinart to avoid fake filter.

DeLonghi ESAM5500M Perfecta Digital Super-Automatic Espresso Machine

DeLonghi ESAM5500M Perfecta Digital Super-Automatic Espresso Machine, Metallic BlueI am surprised that I am the first reviewer of this great machine. I just received mine yesterday. I bought it from another vender, but since I typically do most of my shopping via Amazon I thought I would share my experience thus far. Overall, this Super-Automatic is simple to use and makes great coffee, lattes, and cappuccino''s. My advice though....WATCH THE DVD BEFORE USING!!! I thought I had this thing in the bag.. how difficult could it be to use??....Well it isn''t difficult to use, but there are a few things I did that had I watched the video all the way through I would not have done. For example, when setting how fine or coarse you want the beans you have to adjust the dial one notch at a time while the grinder is running (still doesn''t make sense to me). I paused the video before waiting for the lady to finish talking on the topic and just moved it a few notches towards fine...oops! Oh well, doesn''t seem to have adversely effected anything, but now I know. Contrary to reviews I have read of super-auto''s, the burr grinder on this one is quiet when running. On a scale of 1-10 where 10 is extremely loud and 1 is basically silent I would rate this machine a 5 and my Cuisinart Grind and brew (the one that hold like a pound of beans) an 8. I was actually expecting something much louder.

Build Quality I would have to say I am impressed with the looks of this machine and its fit and finish. I am sure some people will complain of the amount of plastic, but seeing how this thing already weighs over 20lbs. why add more weight. I thought about the Gran Dama, but honestly this machine is better.

CoffeeI was also considering the Jura Z5 because I read good things, but the price was a stretch. Granted, this machine isn''t cheap either. I believe that I made the right choice. The espresso is great. I do wonder though what it tasted like from the factory, but since I changed the settings prematurely I will never know...ha! The Milk pitcher is ingenious...BRAVO! Latte''s and Cappuccino''s are a breeze and let me tell you this machine makes both very well. Sure a semi-auto can do better, but really I do not want to do the extra steps. As it is, Starbucks does not compare. I have read reviews that state the Gran Dama latte''s can be cold. I have to admit, the first one I made was, but after I made a couple and utilized the cup warmer they were perfect. I bought the Cinnamon Dolce syrup from Starbucks and I downed to many lattes....probably explains why at 0209 EST I am still up and writing this review.

My Opinion If you are in the market for a super-automatic I would say give this one a consideration. I bought this machine from a place that has probably the best return policy of all retailers, so if something does go wrong I will take it right back for another. Regardless, the people at Delonghi are great and I was amazed that as soon as I pushed (1) I was talking to a person almost immediately. I will probably just purchase the extended warranty from the manufacturer and extend the 2 years to 4...Extra $150. That is all for now. Look for an update in a couple months.

**UPDATE** 3/24/10

Well I overworked the first one, but the place I bought it from gladly took it back and ordered me another one. I made nearly 2,000 cups of coffee in 4 months with the first one. I have made nearly 1000 with the one I have now, but it seems to be holding up fine. As far as recommending it I still would. I love this machine. It is so nice that I can make everything Starbucks does without having to pay them $4 for every cup. I have basically every syrup they have and all my guests rave about the Delonghi. It is a lot of money to spend on a coffee maker, but I would do it again.

**UPDATE** 8/14/12

Well my Perfecta has been perfecta to date. No real issues to report yet.

The Good This espresso machine is very easy to use but can be intimidating at first. My husband and I use it several times a day and we have had no problems with it since we bought it at least 6 months ago.

The Bad It doesn''t make a hot cup of coffee. It makes a warm cup of coffee. I take coffee with me to work every day in a travel cup and by the time I get to work (15 minutes) I have to heat it in the microwave because it is cold. My last cheap espresso maker would make a cup of coffee so hot that I could savor it for an hour. Very frustrating to me.

My wife and I have been making 6-8 cups a day for 6 months. We only ever make cappuccino and the ''fire and forget'' button is priceless. The froth is good albeit with slightly larger bubbles than from conventional froth. We always place the milk container in the fridge and so far we have had no problems with the seal. And, the milk container can be purchased separately at a reasonable price (so my wife says).

One slight niggle we have had lately is that sometimes the door opens during the coffee making process. I have cleaned several times but to no avail. And it is difficult to find out what is pushing on the door from the inside (it is closed :-). But I guess we eventually will figure it out.

Some reviewers have complained about the coffee being too cold. I currently live in Australia and previously lived 6 years in Italy where they serve the genuine cappuccino. Outside Italy I have often had the opposite problem, where inexperienced barista''s make the coffee far too hot. It is not supposed to be that hot. In Italy the barista will generally attempt to remove your coffee cup almost immediately as the coffee is supposed to be consumed right away. A cappuccino can last a bit longer but is also consumed in short order. Some coffee gourmet sites list the optimal coffee temperature and too high a temperature ruins the coffee. So I am quite happy with the temperature of the Delonghi.

Have had this machine for 15 months and 1534 shots of espresso and it still works great like the day I bought it. I only use distilled water and descale when it tells me to(shows up on digital read out). No problems ever and even though it''s expensive it has saved me $6 a day from star bucks (quad grande mocha $5 +$1 tip)

2863 shots of espresso and still going strong!!! In these machines I believe distilled water is the secret to longevity success.

I purchased this baby about six months ago and have already brewed 2,000 cups of cappuccino. I have settled on Illy beans and it is a real luxury to wake up, press one button, and have such a tasty treat. It does not create true coffee-house foam but it is close enough. Indeed, I am now accustomed to the slightly larger bubbles and find real cappuccino a bit too creamy. In any case, the beast has worked like a charm so far. It is expensive but life is short and little luxuries like this make it so much more enjoyable. I also bought an aerolatte electric milk frother, which makes much thicker and more authentic foam for when I really want creamy foam. But it is so easy to just pull the little milk frother that comes with this machine out of the fridge and press the button that I rarely use the aerolatte device, which is a shame because it was 90 bucks itself. But as I said, life is short and little luxuries make it sweeter. One issue is that it can be fussy to mate the milk jug with the machine: you gotta pull it off and push it back in sometimes to get the thing mated. The nice thing about a true super automatic device such as the perfecta is that you are not tied to coffee pods: it grinds whatever beans you give it. All in all, I am glad I bought it and paid off the credit card bill accordingly.

Dyson DC07 All-Floors Cyclone Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Dyson DC07 All-Floors Cyclone Upright Vacuum CleanerIn the vacuum cleaner market that, in our opinion, is dominated by poor product design, plastic parts that break easily, motors that burn out, belts that stretch and break, expensive bags that fill up virtually instantly, and a very short useful life, our Dyson has acquitted itself rather well.

Many of the other favorable comments about this Dyson apply and will not be repeated here.

We would add that Dyson has good telephone customer service as well as an on-line diagnostic guide.

We note the following negatives:

The "off the floor" hose suction is not as strong and is much more awkward than with a "tank type non upright" cleaner. If you are doing mostly off the floor cleaning, probably no upright is recommended.

-While it is NOT in the instructions, customer service will tell you that vacuuming up powder (plaster, carpet cleaner, carpet deodorant) will clog the hepa filter and eventually destroy the machine. If you plan to do this kind of work, get something that uses disposable bags.

-It is also not in the instructions, but DON''T run water thru the fully assembled canister to remove dust and dirt. The air flow will eventually gunk up and make the vacuum unusable. Use a compressed air can to blow out the dust or occasionally remove and clean the lower section (see below).

While the parts that you can access are easy to remove for cleaning and unblocking, there are some critical non user serviceable parts on the Dyson. Even the drive belt and hepa filters are supposed to be changed by a service center. So keep the box in case you have to ship the machine back to the company and hope you never need to use it

The problem, however, is really not with this Dyson DC07 (and probably other models as well) when it is under warranty. It is after the two year warranty expires and you are dependent on their expensive and sparsely located dealer network. I would guess that with parts and labor, a major repair could easily be between a quarter and half the price of a new machine.

We believe that Dyson should do a much better job in providing owner repair instructions, especially for machines that out of warranty.

In that light, we are providing information on two common repairs that the owner can perform. We would hope that at some point, Dyson would provide information on other repairs:

The hepa filter, which is supposed to last the lifetime of the machine, doesn''t. But it can be removed using a screwdriver to release the cover catches on both sides and replaced by the user (special replacement filter must be purchased from the company or from a dealer). We found it necessary to replace the filter (ourselves) when the machine constantly cut off due to overheating.

However, you may also come to the point, as we did, where the cylinder gets sufficiently clogged that there is suction to the intake (which means the motor is working) but there is no suction to the hose or floor and the vortex dirt isn''t spinning.

Customer service will first tell you that you have to bring or ship your Dyson to a dealer who will charge for parts and labor. Alternatively, a new canister will be $86.00 including shipping from them.

Forget it. You can clean the unit following these instructions (note; this probably will make little sense UNTIL you have the canister in front of you when it will become more obvious).

Be aware that you may well void any warranty if you do the following and, in any event, you do so at your risk but if it works, it can save you from an expensive dealer repair or part replacment.

-Remove the canister and clear plastic bin. Remove the bin and set it aside.

-The "cage" (part with the little holes) and the part with the vanes are held on with the black rubber ring at the bottom of the canister. The vane piece has to be removed before the cage by first easing out the rubber piece. Note the orientation of the rubber piece for reassembly. Removing the ring, vanes and cage is NOT dependent upon removing the handle (see next step below).

-Using a torx (star) #15 screwdriver, remove the 3 screws on top of the canister handle.

-Reach through the bottom of the unit and note how the long rod that opens the base flap fits through a guide slot.

-Pull out the handle assembly that includes the long rod. Do not remove the rod completely. Also, do not damage the large O-Ring and note, for reassembly, that there is a "flat" side to the handle assembly. Ignore the 3 screws inside the canister; they don''t seem to do anything. Also, the upper and lower plastic parts of the canister cannot be separated.

-Wash the canister unit using a high pressure hose or faucet and a bottle brush. Wash thru all the vortex openings at the top, the cage, the vane part and everywhere else. Run water through the unit until no more fibers, dirt, etc. come out and then a little longer. You will be amazed at how much stuff can accumulate in this canister.

-Allow everything to dry. When reassembling, make sure that, by reaching though the bottom of the unit, you guide the rod through the rod slot.

If you cleaned out all the accumulation, the air flow should work almost like new after the vacuum is reassembled.

Notwithstanding the above, the Dyson DC07 is probably a better and more reliable machine than anything else available (which, as noted, says something about vacuum cleaners in general), so with reservations and the hope that Dyson starts treating its customers like adults by providing information about user service, we recommend it.

I used to volunteer with the local Police department and soon became familiar with an interesting trait of unfortunate victims of crime: Ten people might witness a bank robbery and give stunningly different descriptions of those involved. One would see a red car, another a white car. One would see 3 people, another 1 person.

So it is with vacuum cleaners.

Like many readers, I read through every Amazon review before purchasing the ''yellow'' Dyson DC07. I resisted writing a review until now, using the vacuum approximately twice per week for the last 6 months. The summary? The Dyson''s ability to pull dirt and hair from carpets and floors is simply stunning, something you have to try to believe. I have found some drawbacks, and if you''ve read other reviews, they may look familiar. Some of my negatives:

When trying to clean under the 4 inch overhang on my floor-level kitchen cabinets or furniture, the DC07 does not reach under it very well. This ''yellow'' Dyson did not include the ''low reach'' accessory which would help with such a situation. I tend to use a mop or occaisionally my Sears shop vac which stands at the ready. This Dyson does have an attachment to reach this kind of area, but assembling it all isn''t worth the time it takes to simply grab my shop vac. Some people may find the DC07 models to be a little inconvenient in this regard.

Sometimes the 25 foot cord requires you to flip it around as you move the vacuum about. At the same time, the cord is very convenient as I can almost vacuum the entire home from one outlet. I just imagine myself as Bob Barker flicking my microphone cable around the contestants.

The Dyson DC07 also doesn''t pick-up the last 1 inch or so of dirt from the "head-on" direction. You need to run the vacuum sideways along the wall to maximize pickup. Again, you can attach other tools to target these areas, but I dislike removing the wand from the upright frame of the vacuum as it requires some twisting to both remove it and later replace it.

The positives? The Dyson is absolutely the best vacuum for suction that I''ve ever used. I have two Rottweilers (which if I may are the most misunderstood dogs in the world...what a couple of babies). These dogs shed hair constantly. When I read reviews about people vacuuming their home 2 or 3 times per week, I realized that''s what I needed to do but didn''t have time for. The Dyson changed that. Not only is the vacuum extremely effective, but it needs only 1 pass to clean a section of carpet. It rolls very smoothly, and vacuuming takes half the time it used to. Suddenly I found myself vacuuming two times per week.

The chamber that picks up hair is extremely easy to empty. I have never owned a bagless and wasn''t sure if I''d like emptying the collection container two or three times per use. This became a non-issue. It is extremely easy -even therapeutic -to see all that dirt and hair emptied. The workability of the parts is another plus. You may have to refer to the owner''s manual once to figure out how to operate some of the features, but it really is all very simple.

The permanent filter is nice and few competitors offer this. I never gave much thought to a HEPA sealed vacuum, as I have no health condition that necessitates it, but now that I have one it would be hard to imagine going back.

I had always wondered why a few reviewers hated their Dyson, or suspected that all-positive reviews are being written by Dyson employees or dealers (always a possibility).

One gentleman mentioned how he tried 3 different Dyson''s and none seemed to pickup any dirt. I suspect the vacuum was being used on carpet but set to it''s "bare floor" setting, something I once inadvertently did myself and it certainly doesn''t work well...until you change it to "carpet"!

Some, like myself, weren''t thrilled with the almost all-plastic construction. After using it for several months, I am now convinced the Dyson is well made. The molded plastic is the kind that seems to slightly pliable and tough. Not the brittle plastic seen on cheaper vacuums. There are thick rubber gaskets on pieces that handle airflow which make an excellent seal.

Others complained that when you empty the collection chamber, a plume of dust can thrust itself back towards your face as it drops into the garbage can. I don''t agree...this is completely avoidable if you simply push the chamber further into the garbage can, or empty the can first to make room for the waste, so it doesn''t drop so far.

Others lamented no light. The only vacuum I used with a light had no extra utility added by the light. Indeed, such lights tend to burn out quickly due to the vacuum''s contant vibration, but of course you may feel otherwise.

Some said the Dyson is heavy, and is hard to carry. We are all different, but I do not find the Dyson heavy. To give some benchmark, I''d suggest that if you find the Dyson heavy, you probably also have difficulty removing groceries from your car. It''s true that picking up the Dyson requires you to grab it in certain areas. An apparent "handle" on the collection chamber seems tempting to grab, but if you do the chamber can come off unexpectedly.

As for being a Dyson employee, my review probably lists enough negatives to indicate I''m not. I would even say that any number of vacuums may be a better choice for you. For example, if you want to clean your stairs and cannot easily lift a vacuum, perhaps one of those "stick bug" vacuums is what you need. If you''ve always bought Hoover and have never had a problem with them, or want a built-in light, buy a Hoover. The "Hoover" reviews suggest they still work well for a lot of people.

Some say for the price, the Dyson should not have any of the above problems. I liken it to the Concord, the (previously) most expensive way to fly across the Atlantic. Its seats were tiny, and it threw passengers back into their seats, all at a premium price. But it got you where you wanted in the shortest possible time. If the Dyson DC07 has some limitations at its price, it is still without a doubt the best vacuum for cleaning carpet and bare floors that I''ve ever owned. I rate it superior to three different Kirby''s I''ve tried from my friends. If you want maximum cleaning power, the Dyson is it. Some of the new DC14''s seem to have features that get around some of the above problems, so check them out too (of course they''re slightly more expensive).

For me, Dyson seemed to appear out of nowhere here in the US. It was all Hoover, Dirt Devil, etc., but now virtually every major consumer goods store sells them, and at a starting price of $400 USD, yet people flock to buy them. I figured there must be something to it. If you''re still not sure, try it out! Many stores (Target, Sears, Linens N Things, Walmart, Costco, there''s too many to list)...they all carry Dyson and allow returns. Try the vacuum (perhaps pick a store that does not have restocking fees) and see. But be warned if you do, you''ll probably wont want to take it back...

Dyson is a great product but it''s certainly NOT perfect. The ''Never lose suction'' tagline is a marketing ploy, since Dyson too will get clogged and lose suction if not properly maintained. All other vacuum machines will NOT lose suction either if the filter bags are replaced often enough.

Overall, however, its performance beats all other vacuums (including the over-hyped Oreck, which is simply a rip-off) hands-down.

Every few months, the user must clean out the central cylinder of the very fine dust, or it will get clogged and lose suction. The way you do this is by removing the dust collector and then separate the core cylinder from the glass casing. Use another vacuum to suck dirt out of the little holes on the side of the cylinder. Also, if you look up the cylinder from the bottom, you''ll see caked dust collected at the top of the cylinder. If you gently bang the cylinder (upright) on the floor, you''ll be shocked how much fine dust (about two cups worth) will fall out of the cylinder. Use the other vacuum to suck them away. Also, take out the ''permanent'' filter and wash them. They, too, get clogged with the very fine dust.

The machine is very heavy and bulky, and it''s quite a chore to transport it between floors. The hose extension is very awkward to use because the point of bending is near the tip. The high profile of the vacuum head makes it impossible to vacuum under the bed, couch, etc.

The instruction manual is poorly written, and setting up and maintaining the machine takes a steep learning curve. Dyson should include a video instruction.

I, too, and concerned about how much carpet fiber the Dyson is tearing off the carpet, which you can clearly see in the dust collector. However, you can also see the amount of coarse and fine dust it''s picking up as well. One impressive feature of Dyson that lived up to the hype is that it will pick up much dust from carpet that was just cleaned by a regular vacuum machine.

Dyson rarely goes on sale, but I bought mine at Sears, which had Dyson on sale last year for $379. Also, buy the regular Dyson and avoid the ''Animal'', which is a rip-off. The rotating brush that comes with the ''Animal'' is air powered and is too weak to work well on the stairs.

Summary: If you have a large house with a lot of carpeted areas, then Dyson is for you. You may also build some muscle by carrying this behemoth up and down the stairs. However, you may need another vacuum for the stairs and also for a quick clean up in the kitchen.

It''s great, unless it breaks down.

Dyson customer service is determined to avoid product warranty claims.

See if you can get a straight answer on warranty coverage!

I was happy with my Dyson, until the clutch broke after a few months. I called Dyson, took it to their "authorized" repair center for repair, and got it fixed under warranty. The repair center said that Dyson had a period of quality problems with clutches.

The clutch broke again only a few weeks later (making horrible grinding sounds). This time, Dyson claimed that the unit was no longer under warranty (less than a year after I bought it), while the repair center claimed that it was.

The same repair center ("Dyson Authorized"), told me that Dysons were poor quality, that they got several in every day for repair and that Dyson often tried to get out of paying for warranty repairs. Then he tried to sell me a competitor''s vacuum.

I''m still fighting with Dyson to get the $150 repair covered. They claimed first that Amazon was not an "authorized" dealer. When Amazon disputed that, they then claimed that Amazon had sold me a used unit as new. When I pointed out that it had Dyson sealed packaging and a warranty book, they then claimed that Amazon had sold me a "reconditioned unit" (for$400?), which Amazon says in not true. Every time I call, I get a different excuse.

So, enjoy the Dyson, it works well. Pray that it doesn''t break while under warranty!

Want Dyson DC07 All-Floors Cyclone Upright Vacuum Cleaner Discount?

I''d like to compare the Dyson DC07 to a sports car, like a Nissan 300Z for example, rather than a fine luxury sports sedan (i.e. BMW 3-series). Like everyone raves, the DC07 has truly great performance with stylish, contemporary design (beauty is in the eye of the beholder?). Two days after vacuuming my home with a one-year old Sanyo model and a relatively new bag, the DC07''s dust canister resembled a sand hourglass. The amount of unseen dust it sucked up made old carpets feel like new again and there are no pets, smoking or shoe-wearing inside of our home. The vacuum operates loudly like other vacuums, but with a bit of a high-pitched whine also.

However, when the novelty of the sucking power wears off, one can''t help but notice the build quality and lack of features the DC07 has for the amount of money paid:

Heaviness: the four pounds of force advertised by Dyson to maneuver the vacuum seems to be way off. The heaviness of the DC07 can be felt from the wrist to the elbow on either bare or carpeted floors.

Cheap-Feeling Construction: touching the DC07 would seem somewhat delicate if one didn''t know it was constructed of "crash helmet" plastics. It just doesn''t have a quality feel to it like the satisfaction of closing luxury car doors compared to an economy car. In all likelihood the materials used probably saves weight that the hefty 30-pounder already takes up. Nevertheless, the plastic tabs used for the clear canister and electrical cord storage seems rather flimsy and easy to break. One could expect these to break under normal wear & tear conditions.

Lack of Cord Rewinder: despite arguments for weight saving measures, I am very disappointed that this expensive vacuum doesn''t at least come with an automatic electrical cord rewinder.

Plastic Wheels/Castors: the use of hallow plastic wheels, along with the brush bar not being raised up in "bare-floor mode", leads to a noisy operation (even when rolling an unpowered DC07 bare floors). I worry that downstairs neighbors may submit a noise complaint to the condo board one of these days. Dyson should have used a rubber or heavy vinyl coating on the wheels to help minimize noise.

Hose Extension: the 17-foot hose extension''s elasticity is so tight that working with the wand tools can be somewhat cumbersome and tiring.

Trapped Dust: emptying the dust canister over a trashcan isn''t as neat and simple as demonstrated by Dyson. Usually dust gets trapped between the rubber seal and plastic canister rim and therefore requires an additional effort of a wipe down.

Lack of Dirt Sensor: a dirt sensor would have been nice to help validate that the floor is clean, but not really needed because of the extreme suction, I guess.

In spite of my criticisms I still feel that the DC07 is a very good vacuum cleaner, albeit a very expensive one. If I had not been able to purchase this on a rare sale, I probably would not buy the DC07 at regular advertised price. The floor tool is a worthwhile option to purchase separately, as the brush bar housing is pretty thick and bulky.

Jura-Capresso Impressa F9 Fully Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center

Jura-Capresso Impressa F9 Fully Automatic Coffee and Espresso CenterThis machine is excellent. Produces above average espresso on every shot. Foams milk well too.

I was an early buyer of this machine, and 8,513 shots later (yes it counts them), I know it is an excellent value.

I also would comment that the customer service is excellent. Sent in the machine once, and for $100.00 received a complete overhaul. (Sent in for a pump leak after a house move.) Came back like new, on time, and they paid for the return shipping. Can''t ask for much more.

I will buy another super auto, from Jura/Capresso, when the time comes for a new machine. It might be many years from now...

I have owned this for about 9 months and gotten nearly 1000 uses out of it (it counts for you). It can equal most coffeehouse product you are likely to find, but as others point out, it is far short of what an enthusiast can create from more traditional equipment. You may also find the crema coffee settings to be something of an acquired taste (but you can make an Americano in just one more step, which is always great).

Also, we went through a brief episode in which it would refuse to brew anything (as if it didn''t have the power to punch the water through the puck of coffee). I remedied this with a descaling cycle as well as wiping out the parts above the removable tray thoroughly. (I use filtered water in the machine, but the descaling seems to be a more serious cleaning than the normal automatic cleaning.)

Given this, I would recommend keeping large stock of cleaning supplies and at least doing the normal cleaning every couple of weeks, rather than awaiting the machine''s automated recommendation to clean. My understanding is that there are no dirt sensors driving these messages. It is just a function of the amount of use.

Overall, I would buy this again for certain, and if/when it dies I will be looking at one of its more expensive siblings, not at other brands.

UPDATE OCT 2012: I am up to nearly 5,000 runs. The only change is that it heats up a little slower. What a quality machine!

Saw a demo of this at a local Sur la Table and very impressed. The coffee it makes is outstanding. I plan to buy one later this year.

Amazon is being deceptive about price. They state list price is $2400, and they''re selling it for $1798.95, at a savings of $601.05. NOT! Look at the Jura-Capresso website. The list for the Impressa F9 is $1799. That brings Amazon''s big discount down to a whole $0.05. The higher end Impressa S9 is $2399 (and Amazon claims it is $3200). Do your research. Don''t trust Amazon''s claims for MSRP.

This is not for your typical coffee drinker. It could be, but isn''t. The thing that separates it is primarily the price, otherwise just about anybody who drinks coffee should absolutely love this machine.

This machine can and does make excellent coffee, cafe americano. It makes very good, but not excellent espresso. You can do as good or better with this machine than you''ll probably get at a chain coffee shop.

The key to quality coffee on this is to use HIGH QUALITY coffee beans. I mean specifically beans that are recently roasted. The more recently roasted the beans, the better off you are (optimum use date is 2 days after roasting). I recommend coffee from www.intelligentsiacoffee.com (try their accidental/occidental and house blends) or www.victrolacoffee.com (streamline espresso).

Make sure you use the high temperature setting for best results, also. When making espresso, I think it helps to warm the machine up for making steam before you make the espresso (gives more flavor).

The steam wand is OK, but somewhat limited in that it''s hard to get some frothing pitchers maneuvered in for frothing.

True coffee geeks will want a high-quality espresso machine where you can control the tamping of your grind, along with a quality burr grinder because you''re not going to get a "God Shot" from the F9.

But for the rest of us, and even coffee geeks that enjoy the ease of single-button coffee/espresso quickly in the morning, this machine is very capable.

I have had this espresso machine for nearly two years now, so I know all of its "quirks" and benefits/issues. I feel compelled to write a review since I relied so heavily on these reviews when making this purchase...so here goes:

1) After much research, I purchased the F9 at Williams Sonoma, primarily because they used to have a policy that you could return anything, at any time, if needed. So, I figured that if ever I had an issue, I could just return it to my local Williams Sonoma and get a replacement rather than returning the machine to the factory and waiting. Turns out I did indeed have to do this once for an electrical issue, which was actually an issue I had with the wiring at the outlet--not the machine afterall! In any event, I don''t think Williams Sonoma still has that same open-ended return policy. Be sure to research the return policy wherever you make your purchase!

2) Overall, I have to say I absolutely LOVE this machine. Here''s how I rationalized payment for such an expensive indulgence: if you figure a Starbucks costs approx. $3, and you buy one everyday (which I was), it would take 600 cups to break even. Well, with the automatic counter on my machine, I have made more than 1600 cups! This machine paid for itself in the first year..easily. ok, so now that you''re past the issue of paying so much for a coffee machine, here''s more...

3) This machine is crazy smart. It knows exactly when to clean itself, or tells you when to start the cleaning cycle. To clean it, all you do is insert a tablet in the coffee powder drawer and it does its thing. It knows when it needs water, when the filter needs to be changed, etc. In fact, since we have a water filter built into our refrigerator, we just use that filtered water in the coffee machine and therefore we don''t need to use the expensive water filters. Bottom line, if you just pay attention and clean the machine on a regular basis when it tells you to, this is a no-brainer machine.

4) The coffee and espresso are great. I''ve learned to make a latte just like Starbuck''s and I haven''t been back since. Some people complain that the frother doesn''t work well, but here''s the trick: first, you should use non-fat or low-fat milk. For some reason, lower fat milk froths better every time; second, be sure to clean the frothing nozzle after each use. Kind of a no-brainer, I know. Third, there are two settings on the frother, and you can change the setting by sliding the sleeve on the frothing tip up or down. Experiment with this and you will get the perfect froth, really.

5) As for the beans, we don''t use overly oily beans as I have read that they can cause a build up and make the machine tough to clean, etc. I believe the "Illy" brand that comes in the metal tin is supposed to be too oily. Others may have a different experience, but we just use whole espresso beans from the grocery store.

6) Believe it or not, this machine heats up in about 90 seconds, if not sooner. As a result, we use this for tea and hot cereal all the time. This is an added bonus for purchasing this machine.

As for issues, I honestly don''t have many. I guess the only things that bug me are the fact that I have to remove the drawer from time to time and dump the water which is ejected after each use. I have learned to keep a black coffee cup under the spout so that it collects the rinse water and i just dump it as needed.

The only other issue I have had with the machine is that the touch screen sometimes works and sometimes ''sticks.'' I''ve tried cleaning the face, washing my hands, but sometimes this just doesn''t work right. Fortunately, when it does ''stick,'' it gets stuck on the setting I use, so it''s not a huge problem.

Net-net, I highly recommend this machine. It took us several days of research and at least a couple of weeks to build up enough nerve to spend this much on a freakin'' coffee machine, but I have to say, this machine has become my new best friend in the kitchen. Sad, but true! Do yourself a favor and buy one. Enjoy!

UPDATE: This machine is still going stung after almost five years daily use and 4100 cups of coffee! The only issue we continue to have is the electronic display panel continues to go dark at times, or flash and flicker. I''m sure we could send it in for maintenance, but we can''t stand the thought of not having our machine for 3+ weeks.

Gaggia 90800 Platinum Vogue Automatic Espresso Machine Save 14% Off

Gaggia 90800 Platinum Vogue Automatic Espresso Machine, SilverThis machine is aesthetically pleasing and pulls great espresso shots. With good quality beans I am able to make as good a latte as I can find in places like Peets with pleasing frothing and nice crema. But the machine is falling apart! After just 4 months the ball joint of the frothing wand is broken and to have it repaired I was told by the US distributor that I must send it back to NY (at my expense) and be without it for 3 weeks.

Bottom line the best machine imaginable if you are ok replacing it reliability and good customer service is not a concern to you. Maurigo

My Gaggia machine works perfectly now,but it wasn''t easy to get good one.I had to replace 3 brand new machines because they were broken out of box.I had great support from amazon staff but Gaggia tech support(IMPORTIKA) WAS USELESS AND NOT FRIENDLY AT ALL.

I agree. Nice looking machine with great tasting espresso but questionable durability. The worst part is that once you send it to New York, Importika the distributor/importer is unresponsive and unreliable. My machine arrived at Importika for service on March 23rd and I am still waiting for an ETA. Gaggia has always stood for the highest quality. I am afraid that this awesome machine may fail in the last mile: durability and service from its importer.

We''ve had this Gaggia for more than two years now (updated from our original review one year out -still very happy with it). We use it every day to make probably 10 cups a day. This is one VERY nice machine and it has been completely dependable. Excellent espresso and coffee, and of course it pays for itself compared to buying by the cup. It has a fairly quiet grinder, but still not quiet enough to make a phone call while you''re making coffee. It takes about a minute to heat up from standby mode. After that, it produces espresso in 50 sec., regular coffee in 90 sec. We bought the milk island and it works, but isn''t worth the effort: Cleaning it is a major hassle, and it''s easier and faster just to foam the milk manually with the steam spout, which you can rinse off in a few seconds while the coffee is brewing. The steam spout has a sleeve so it isn''t too hot to touch.

There is a much more expensive version of this machine that has more electronics -save your money and get this one The coffee produced is exactly the same.

The Gaggia is incredibly versatile. You can use the presets, you can adjust the presents to suit you, you can program the machine to brew just the way you want for each type of coffee using "learning" mode, or you can just press the start button again to stop the brewing. You can adjust the amount of coffee. You can bypass the grinder and use single doses of ground coffee -for example to make a cup of decaf. You can make hot water for tea or steam for cappuccino using the steam/hot water spout.

The tank has a water filter that is optional to use and the machine has a descaling cycle that we don''t need because we use only distilled water. (If you can afford this Gaggia, you can afford a distiller too!) It also has an automatic cleaning cycle for everything but the brew group, which itself is very easy to clean by rinsing it off.

The four minor but irritating downsides: (1) A stupid design flaw for such an expensive machine is that the "fill the water tank" message is useless. It ought to display the message when there''s not enough water to make the type of coffee you select. Instead, if there''s not enough water, the machine doesn''t warn you. It will go ahead and start the brewing, abort it in mid-cycle when the water runs out, and THEN display the message (which might as well say "you should have filled the water tank"). The result is wasted time and coffee beans. To prevent this from happening, each time before you make coffee, you have to pull the water container to see whether there is enough water. There''s not even a visual water-level indicator. This got to be so annoying that I made my own water-level indicator by drilling a hole through the plastic exterior and into the bottom of the tank, inserting a transparent tube and silicone-gluing it in, and inserting the top (open) end of the tube into another drilled hole in the plastic just above the top of the tank. I marked low and high water levels. Problem solved! See photo. With that one irritating problem solved, the machine is just about perfect. The other downsides listed below are minor by comparison.

(2) There is no optional water-feed option similar to a refrigerator icemaker water line connection. The tank has to be refilled a LOT, in part because the coffee is so good that you tend to drink a lot of it. When I was solving problem #1, I added another plastic tube that runs from our water distiller, so that we can manually fill the tank when our homemade water-level indicator shows that the level is low. The photo shows that too.

(3) The single-dose unit is very picky; use just a tad more than the standard amount of coffee and it will reject the whole thing, abort the brewing, and dump the wet but unused ground coffee in the dump bin.

(3) Even if you use only distilled water, this machine insists on descaling its boiler every month or so, even when the water-hardness scale is set to minimum. There is no "0" or "distilled water" setting. So you have to let it run the descaling cycle, which takes about 10 min. and half a gallon of water, and it''s happy.

have used many super automatic machines and this makes by far the best espresso that I have ever had. The espresso comes out nice and slow and is dark and rich. The milk island makes a very creamy froth and is easy to clean but I normally use the steam wand, which also works great. The grinder is very quiet so I can use it and not wake up my wife (I get up early). I very highly recommend this beautiful machine!!!!!

PUR CT5000 Water Filter System

PUR CT5000 Water Filter SystemWe have had this product for a couple of years. We use in our bathroom so we don''t have to have bottled water there. We need a new filter, but now I find you have discontinued the item. It is a shame such a good product has been discontinued. Are replacement filters still available?

This product is far superior to the on-the-faucet type filters. We have broken three of those filters because the water pressure eventually cracks the housing. We have had this filter for two or three years now and have had no problems. The water tastes great and it takes up very little counter space. The filters are not cheap, but they last longer than the afore-mentioned faucet types.

I''ve had the CT5000 for 10 years on my countertop. Used daily for coffee & drinking water it''s been fantastic.

When the filter gets near the end of it''s life the water flows out rather slowly, but still nice & pure!

I''ve found the filters last MUCH longer than the recommended 4 to 6 months. There is a little indicator that turns red when the filter is pooping out.

This is a great little water filter for the money. I am not sure how much stuff it filters but the water tastes great and the replacements are around $25. It is getting hard to find the replacements so beware. It is very easy to install and maintain, and I have had no leakage issues, and I have been using them for a few years.

I just bought a sears dual filter unit because of its consumer reports rating but the installation is beginning to look like a hassle.

It took some work to put the filter under the sink but it has been working well since. The water is much better tasting than plain tap water, and we wash all our vegetables and fruits with it. The faucet is convenient for getting water to chill and to wash produce. It also allows us to wash our hands with the filtered water since our tap water is hard on our skin.

I''ve had many issues with the preinstalled fittings leaking. I had to re-tape almost all the fittings because of the poor quality control of who sells/assembles this system. Good thing I mounted the unit above a utility sink. I use this unit to supply my 180 and 125 gallon aquariums with water, it''s not for human consumption. Make sure you install a valve before and after the unit that''s easy to get to.

The unit actually supplies more than 100gpd, I don''t know if this is good, or a sign that something isn''t right. I ran the waste water tube directly to my sump hole, which I recommend if you have one and it''s nearby, you won''t have to tap into the plumbing under a sink if this is the case, saving time and back pain. I would recommend installing the unit in the basement, or basically anywhere else besides under a sink. With how many leaks I''ve had, I am glad I didn''t trash the wood cabinet under a sink.

The directions are a joke for the most part, the youtube video helps, but it''s not for this system (of course). It''s easy enough to do, just follow the flow of the water.

I''ve had the unit for a couple months and have filtered about 500 gallons of water with it so far. Now the booster pump is making noise, so I am assuming this won''t last much longer.

Overall, for the price I guess it does the job, but it''s also been quite a pain to babysit.

I bought this filter to try to make my particularly nasty well water drinkable. I have not yet tried the water it makes, because the bad chemical odor from the filters hasn''t yet gone away. On the internet it looks nice, but after taking it out of the box and assembling it I''m really not impressed. Most of the components seem to be decent (but not great) quality. I''m particularly disappointed with the way it''s assembled. All of the various filter cartages and the UV chamber are just clipped together with cheap plastic clips that allow the filters so slump downward and all rest on the booster pump and hang from the hoses. The steel bracket that the three filters along the bottom hang from is not stout enough to hold the weight of the unit, so it slumps until the filters hold the weight against the wall. The manual, and the various labels and tags and such are written in very bad English. Although this doesnt take away from the functionality of the filter, I do think that if the company couldn''t take the time to edit their manual that it suggests a similar amount of effort went into the design of the unit. For example: the power supply for the UV lamp as a red light and a green light to indicate weather it is properly functioning or not. The red light says "not work" and the green light says "work." This really makes me wonder about the credibility of the claim that it kills 99% of bacteria.

We are very happy with the iSpring 100GPD 6-Stage Reverse Osmosis UV water filtration system. It was very easy to install and the system worked without and leaks or major problems. Our system came with one of the tee fitting broke and a input fitting to the final stage carbon filter was also broke in shipment. A quick trip to the local The Home Depot for a replace tee and the system was ready to use. They include extra fittings in the installation kit but not a tee. The component quality is excellent and the boost pump runs very quietly. The UV light does heat the water that is held in this stage of the purification process when the system is not producing water. The water runs cool in a few seconds when the system is turned on so it isn''t a real problem. The system is a great value produces great tasting water.

I have two of these systems and neither work. The first system they sent would not work. Over the next 2 weeks I replaced several parts that they sent to me. At the 3 week point they sent a second system that also did not work. After messing for another 2 weeks they claimed the system would not work due to my water pressure, which is at least 20 lbs over there minimum.

I even purchased a booster pump with the original system. They agreed to take the systems back, however, claimed damage and refused full credit. IThey shipped everything back to me and the only damage was to the tank valve and it was their box.

They would never speak on the phone and would only communicate by e-mail.

This system in my opinion is a piece of junk.

Tersano lotus LRF4 Sanitizing System Replacement Booster Cartridges

Tersano lotus LRF4 Sanitizing System Replacement Booster Cartridges, 4-Pack
  • Removes excess moisture and boosts sanitizing power
  • Indicator lets you know when it''s time to change cartridge

This is not a review of the basic Tersano Lotus machine. I own the Tersano Lotus Sanitizing base/bowl/bottle, and LOVE them. I do not love their replacement booster cartridges.

I have purchased several cartridge 4-pacs from Amazon, only to have them go bad within days or weeks of inserting them into the Lotus. (The crystal-colors change in the small view-window.) The last box of 4 cartridges had 2 of the four cartridges go bad while they were still in the unopened, sealed plastic-bags they were shipped in. I talked to Tersano about how fast the Lotus was going through cartridges, and they suggested I must live in a very moist location. (I live in San Diego, where we have had ''below normal'' rainfall for most of the last 15 years...) NONE of the cartridges lasted 3 months, as other reviews reported. My machine counted easily up to 100 even after the cartridges had visually gone bad.

I still use the Lotus, but I have stopped buying the replacement cartridges. Customer-service at Tersano said the the machine worked fine without cartridges, they just improve performance by removing humidity.... My machine counts up to 100% without them, and without a problem. Tersano told me that as long as the machine counted up to 100, it was working, I see no reason to waste more money on cartridges that go bad before they can be used. Perhaps Tersano just needs to improve their air-tight (?) packaging.

If the fact that the Lotus counts up to 100 doesn''t mean it is producing an effective level of sanitation-ozone, then all of the claims that are made about the machine''s accuracy are in question. If the doesn''t need the cartridges to work properly, why buy them?

My experience with Tersano''s customer service has been outstanding. This product review is only concerned with the quality and possible uselessness of their replacement cartridges.

When I ordered my Tersanos Lotus Sanitizer (which works wonderfully well), I added a set of four booster cartridges to the order.

However by the time I began to think about replacing the cartridge that came with the sanitizer, I found that the Miami humidity had managed to seep through what seems like the very well sealed transparent individual cartridge package. Since the cartriges act as dehumidifiers for incoming air, I decided squeeze out the humidity from the crystals by placing the cartridge upside down in my microwave oven with a cup of ice a couple of inches away. I placed the cup of ice in order to avoid overly concentrating the microwaves on the cartridge while minimally raising the humidity in the oven.

I run the microwave for around 15 or 20 seconds. Afterwards the cartridge is surprizingly warm and the window shows some change of color along with beads of sweat. It would be nicer if the freed humidity had more of an outlet.

I believe these cartridges contain a desiccant that removes humidity from the air. Regardless you will not be able to generate ozone without them. They simply pop-off and on your Tersano appliance.

I love my Lotus products! They do precisely what they say they will do, every time. Easy to use, easy to maintain, brilliantly effective. I only wish the filter cartridges could be recycled. But compared to the green value of not buying bottles of chemicals over and over (or multiple bottles of more friendly products, like white vinegar), I believe this still leaves a smaller footprint. Love. It.

I have been using the Tersano Lotus for a number of years and found that Amazon had a great price on these. When I first bought the machine, the cartridges did not seem to last as long. Recently I have found them to last longer. (I still live in the same dry house!) I don''t know if they changed how they manufacture the cartridges but I have definitely noticed that they last longer. I keep mine in the machine all the time. I also find that Amazon has a better price on these.

Came home to flooded house, like many others I have learned. The filter has a failure point at the bottom seam around the filter bottom. Insinkerator simply pawned me off to 3M who they say is the manufacturer. While I could not say for certain that we replaced the filter exactly at the 3 month interval recommended, I know we did replace within a reasonable period. I am one of many I have now learned who have had thousands of dollars of damage caused by this filter leaking. So be ware of the potential risk which could be very costly. 3M tried to blame it on how old the filter was from its manufacturing date rather than how long I actually had it installed. I wish I would have known about this risk up front as I would have never bought this system! Insinkerator needs to be much more transparent about these known problems and also do the right thing to help customers who have to suffer from this poorly manufactured product filter. The filter was even analyzed at an independent lab who determined it failed prematurely. You would think Insinkerator would be heavily involved in getting 3M to correct this problem as its their brand that is on the product

  • Reduces chlorine taste and odor, sand, silt, sediment and rust
  • Equipped with end of life monitor to ensure continuous high quality water
  • Portable
  • Fits on to small areas on the counter top
  • Meets all plumbing codes

Heard good things about the regular Watts water filter, so I decided to move up and get the one with the alarm. Unfortunately, the first unit I received had a small hole at the base of the spout, and a small stream of water sprayed out all over. I returned it and got a new one from Amazon 2 days later that so far, works fine. Could taste the difference in the water once installed (which was so easy I could figure it out without the instructions), and quite satisfied so far. Won''t be able to report on how that alarm works for a while, but it starts at 4000, and turns off when using regular tap water and on again when using the filtered water.

Included were the diverting valve, filter wrench and batteries, but only came with one faucet adapter that worked with an outside thread and not for an inside thread. I called the company since Amazon doesn''t provide parts and was told an adapter with an inside thread is not included for this model. Therefore I went to Lowe''s and picked up an faucet adapter that worked for $2, so no big deal. However, I do feel I really shouldn''t have to pay for a part that should be included in every water filter you connect directly to the faucet (might have rated it a 5 if not for that).

This product is sold by Amazon itself. When I tried to contact the seller (Amazon) through my account there was no option to do so. Only option available was to return the whole product. I am really surprised at the lack of responsibility and professionalism.

In my case the product''s sink connector which allows the flow of water to go to the filter or to divert to the faucet never worked automatically (returning to its default = non filtered water, once the water was shut) rather we have to do it manually. The package also came lacking the manual for the digital counter/alarm (if there is one at all), the included manual only explained how to set the filter and connect the hose to the faucet no mention on how to use the buttons or warranty.

Other than that it works fine, but I would still want Amazon to replace the faulty part. If someone has an idea how to contact them please let me know.

Thanks.

Austin Air Allergy Machine Jr. HM205

Austin Air Allergy Machine Jr. Air Purifier - BlackThis is the first time I''ve purchased an air purifier not based on the cadr, so I was a little nervous. But it is great. From day one, the air in my bedroom has smelled very fresh. In addition, I purchased this because of a potential mold problem in my apartment. Since using it, I have experienced less symptoms than before. I like it so much, I''m thinking of purchasing another one for my second floor because the old Hunter I have isn''t sufficient.

I would recommend this air purifier to anyone, especially if you have allergies. The only reason I didn''t give this a 5-star rating is because it is a little noisy on high (although for normal uses, it probably wouldn''t need to always be run on high like I''m doing because of my mold problem). Also, you have to have some place out of the way to put it as it must be set 8 inches from the wall with the air output facing away from the wall.

I actually won this machine on an allergy website and have been using it for over a year now. I love it! My allergies are really bad and this machine plus my medicine allows me to keep all my cats and dogs. It does not allow me to be symptom free but if you are an allergy sufferer, you know that you will never be allergy free and you can make breathing a little easier with this machine. It is quiet enough for the bedroom and simple to take care of. The pre-filter gets replaced every year and it is easy to do and inexpensive. The HEGA filter is really expensive but it only needs to be changed every three years so you really aren''t spending too much in the long run. You don''t have to open the machine to clean the filters either, you just vacuum the outside once a week and you are done! The Jr model does a room up to 750 sq ft and the regular model does a room up to 1500 sq ft. I highly recommend this machine!

I have owned a few few other airfilters before, and this is by far the best. I have a mild allergy to my cats and i use this machine reduce the symptoms. It does a commendable job. Highly recommended. The only reason I am not giving it a five star is because it can get a little noisy at the higher fan settings. My cats tend to get flustered when that happens. But overall a good buy.

I bought this Austin purifier to help me with my indoor allergies. I no longer wake up with a stuffy nose, itchy eyes, or a scratchy throat. This filter runs all night in my bedroom. The medium setting is not loud, but the highest setting is very loud. Be sure that you read the instructions before operating, because they state that you should use the purifier on the highest setting for at least one hour. I usually set the filter on high for an hour before I go to bed. Austin air purifiers are the only purifiers still made in the USA. The nice workmanship, fit and finish, and steel exterior are things that set it apart from the cheaper purifiers made by Honeywell and others.

This is a nice air purifier. It is not sufficient for tobacco smoke though so don''t buy it for that.

  • It includes the filter casing, one filter and the Automatic Safety Monitor Gauge product
  • White finish

Had this filter when it developed a tiny crack near the filter life window. Within a month it had hairline cracks all over filter case. More water leaked out of the case than went through the filter.

The actual filtering action was effective but the enclosure (which costs at least as much as the filter itself) promptly developed cracks at the filter cover and faucet fitting. This happened in two separate occassions, so we''ve decided to give up on this product.

Can''t recommend it.

I''ve been satisfied with this filter up until now. About 3 weeks ago, it developed a crack in it. I have no idea why these PUR filters seem to crack alot, after reading several other reviews. I''ve never bumped mine or dropped it. The filters aren''t cheap to buy, but now the filter itself is cracked and i''m stuck with a couple extra filters. I may try to sell them on ebay. I won''t buy another one of these.

I''ve used this filter for years. They''ve always worked great. If you have a problem, just email them and they will send you a coupon good for a new one. I think the cracks are a new problem as I''ve never had that problem. I wrote them once asking if there was a kit to keep it from coming out both places at once and they sent me a coupon for a new one.

DeLonghi ESAM3500.N Magnifica Digital Super-Automatic Espresso/Coffee Machine Save 33% Off

DeLonghi ESAM3500.N Magnifica Digital Super-Automatic Espresso/Coffee MachineI bought my espresso machine a little over a year now and have never looked back...

It all started when my daughter came to visit and took me to that coffee place(I won''t name it but cups are over $5 each!!)and had my first taste of espresso!!!then after also seeing the alton brown(good eats) episode on making espresso yourself started the spark in me to learn about the different espresso machines out there on the retail market(and there are a lot of them)One of the MANY things that led me to this machine is the frothed milk feature where instead of frothing a pitcher of milk at a time and wasting whats left, you have a separate container that holds the milk that detaches and stores in fridge till next cup....a VERY handy feature!!!and the quality of product and ease of setting different features(all explained in instruction manuel which can be a bit overwelming but take it slow and keep book close by till you can memorize certain steps)

The money i am saving alone has earned my cost back already if you figure average $3 bucks a cup compared to the other store (star who???)and no you won''t get a cup to taste like theirs but i am pretty close after experimenting with different coffee creamers and sweetners....

The ease of cleaning the inside (which to me should be done every few weeks) and the automatic notifier(which you set to your own water hardness with test strip enclosed)for the descaling process (with fluid you buy separate,(Durgol brand is best)which averages me with my own use at once every 3 to 4 week...and is VERY easy to do(i bought a 4 cup measuring cup which fits under water spout to drain in.....very handy)

Last thing for me to say about the one person looking for o-rings to replace one that broke...I had same one break on my frother and all i did was go to my local hardware store and found that (after searching)that the o-rings used for certain water faucets worked perfectly!!!

Thats it for this review i hope it helped.....

Let me express my extreme unhappiness with the handling of a replacement part order by DeLonghi itself, not Amazon.

Two weeks after we received the coffee maker, one of the three O-rings broke which means that the frothed/steamed milk feature is deactivated ever since.

I ordered three replacement O-rings three weeks ago from their web page, get a link that tells me that I can always "find out the current status", which is total bogus because the status never appeared on the web page.

I sent an email to this same address 1 week after the order (Dec 11) to inquire what the status is. On the web page and in the phone message under the service number DeLonghi prides itself that any email would be answered within 1 business day. I have not received any reaction to my email.

I called the DeLonghi customer service number on 12/15 to inquire the status of the order. I was told that there are not 3 O-rings available at this point and this caused my order to be blocked. I was told that 1 or 2 O-ring are in stock and that I would get at least 1 O-ring shipped that same day.

I called the DeLonghi customer service number again on 12/20 to inquire the status of the partial shipment. The person on the phone was unable to find out about the real status, was unable to find the supervisor but promised me that she would personally ask the supervisor for help with an expedited shipment when (s)he becomes available again.

Another phone call today, 12/27, resulted in more of the same, more postponing, no explanations.

The DeLonghi web page trumpets the following:

White Glove Service Guarantee (Available in U.S. Only)

"Your choice of the Magnifica super automatic espresso machine reveals that you have the highest standards, and we at DeLonghi strive to always exceed those expectations. Our specially trained DeLonghi espresso experts are here to serve your needs in any way we can."

Given the history of my order of 3 little O-rings, this sounds like an extremely bad joke.

We are happy with the machine (even though we did not expect its first flaw of a broken O-ring to happen so soon) but extremely unsatisfied with the worst customer support we have experienced in a long time. A real shame given that we paid $1500 for a coffee machine "with the highest standards" and I shudder at the thought that I would ever have to ask for more significant customer service than a little black O-ring.

We will never again buy another DeLonghi product!

I am very happy with this machine. Very easily it produces very good cappuccinos or espresso style coffees. The milk container is handy and there is a clever mechanism to clean the frothing spout without having to empty and wash the milk container, allowing me to return the container back to the refrigerator for the next use.

I''m impressed with the design, since previously had two Saeco automatic espresso machine (both which died after 3 or 4 years of heavy use). When the bottom drip tray is removed, it also contains the grounds container and the catch for stray coffee grounds. The Saeco machine required vacuuming to find remove the grounds that largely missed the small tray to catch them.

The buttons and menu are very straight forward. The messages appear in clear English and are much easier to follow than the Saeco machine. The help manual is also very clear. Other machines in the past seem to have poor translations from Italian.

The descaling process is relatively painless. Once you are notified, you simply go to the menu and start the process. You are guided through each clear step

I had one question where I contact customer service. Very quickly I reached a person and my question was addressed.

The machine is much more compact and takes up much less counter space. The design is very clean and isn''t as bulky as my old Saeco machines. Because the machine is smaller, I do have to fill up the water, beans and remove grounds more often, but this is worthwhile compromise for a much better and smaller machine. It also seems that the water, coffee beans and ground removal has been designed so that these all happen at about the same machine, allowing one simple replenishment step instead of different steps on my old Saeco machine.

Overall, I''m extremely happy with this machine.

I received this machine as a gift (thankfully, ''cuz I wouldn''t have been able to afford it for myself). Before this I had a Capresso CoffeeTEC machine. The Magnifica is so easy to use and to clean, it''s great not to have to deal with filters, grinders, frothers, etc. My husband is a stickler for using freshly ground coffee beans for his coffee. It''s such a joy not to have to sweep up the coffee grinds from the floor now! Anyway, here are some things I like about it:

Amazing tasting coffee; freshly ground at the touch of a button. Several people have told me that it tastes better than Starbucks coffee

Machine rinses itself after turn on and before turn off

Tells you when to clean the coffee grind container (makes ''em into little hockey pucks)

Wide range of coffee strengths from which to choose: extra mild, mild, regular, strong, extra-strong

3 cup sizes from which to choose. You can change the settings so the cup sizes are customized for you. I use the "Long" setting. If you press it twice quickly, it will make 2 ''long'' coffees for you

Love the frothing pitcher. Just attach it, press the cappuccino button, sit back and watch it make you a steaming hot cappuccino with thick froth. Frother puts frothed milk directly into your cup and then makes the espresso and puts it in the cup.

There''s a pre-ground "bypass" button. I use it when I want to have decaf. I add ground decaf beans and use the frother to add frothed milk.

Machine tells you everything that it "needs." "Fill Beans container, descale, add water...etc."

You can use the water spout for instantaneous hot water for tea, hot chocolate, etc.

Starbucks will sell you bottles of their flavored syrups, so I bought several of my favorite flavors for my little "at home cafe"

Update Sep 2008: About a month ago I opened the front door of the machine and it was empty. I thought to myself "who would''ve broken into my house and only stolen the infuser to the coffee machine?" I examined the machine and was able to see that the infuser was stuck in the housing at the top of the machine. An internet search showed that other people had had the same problem but no solutions were posted. I called DeLonghi and went through a few troubleshooting steps with a friendly customer service lady. Finally we gave up and she said I had to send it in to get it fixed. They sent me the boxes, labels and packing materials, which was nice. I sent it to an appliance place in NY. After 3 weeks I called to check the status and they said, "It''s on the shelf; we''ll get to it." Within a day or two the machine was delivered and working again. It was a bummer to have to ship it out to get it fixed (took a month) and my other gripe is that it came back dirtier than when I sent it (coffee grounds everywhere, etc.). Would''ve been nice if they wiped it down. Anyway, DeLonghi customer service handled it well.

Want DeLonghi ESAM3500.N Magnifica Digital Super-Automatic Espresso/Coffee Machine Discount?

This is my second DeLonghi Magnifica Digital Super-Automatic Espresso/Coffee Machine I have owned within the last 2 years. I got my first model 4500 from Starbucks and it lasted about 2 years. My warranty expired on my old machine so I bought this one on Amazon. I have checked all the online vendors and Amazon has the best price on this machine. Free shipping and no taxes saves you about $250. I found this machine on Ebay for less but DeLonghi will not honor Warranty service on Ebay stores. So beware.

DeLonghi customer service has been top notch, I had to repair my first machine 7 times. Yes, seven times due to pump failure and thermostat issues. I got this machine for an office so it gets used alot. This machine is meant for home use only. I brew about 50 cups a day, so the average home user wouldn''t use more than 5 cups a day.

My repair shop says all automatic Espresso machines no matter what brand in this price range use all the same parts. He also said they all fail at least 4 times within 2 years due to the nature of the machine. I told myself that I wouldn''t buy DeLonghi anymore but he changed my mind and told me that DeLonghi has more repair shops open for Warranty service than any other vendor.

This model ESAM3500.N is nice, since it is an overall better model than the other 5 models listed for sale. Don''t spend your money on the $1999 or $2500 model because they all have the same features and will all break down no matter how well you keep your machines up to date!

If you do need to make repairs on your machine, make sure you find a repair shop near your home. I was able to get extra parts and service O-Rings for my machine cheaper than from DeLonghi webstore.

Also note, the O-Rings on this machine do break down after 3 months of use. It is the because the milk container, you can also find these O-Rings at Home Depot for $10 bucks and if you have problems with the milk function don''t send your machine into repairs for some O-Rings you can replace yourself.

I have made over 30,000 cups of Espresso & Coffee with DeLonghi machines and I am glad that I bought it. Even at $3 a cup you can see yourself saving a lot of money.

Also note you should Descale this machine at least once every 2 weeks or else your pump on this machine will fail. Don''t wait for the machine to tell you clean it. Only use the Durgol cleaner also, all other cheap cleaners DO NOT work with this machine. Do waste your time, I learned my lesson well!

Low fat or no fat milk works best with the milk spout. Do not use milk that isn''t at refrigerator temperature. The coffee mill grinder should be set at number 5, I found this to be the best tasting and best setting for this machine.

Keep in mind if you do need this machine repaired they can have your machine up to 3 weeks, due to a shortage of spare parts. All vendors use the same parts since this is an OEM type of build. The Generic Alarm code is the last breakdown I got. To save you a phone call this means your machine is dead, it needs a new pump and thermostat so hence I came to Amazon to get another!

Amazon was qreat with shipping, price, and product was new as listed! Rated 10 out of 10!

Capresso SG120 12-Cup Stainless Steel Coffee Maker Save $0.04 Off

Capresso SG120 12-Cup Stainless Steel Coffee MakerI do considerable research before purchasing a product as important to me as a coffee maker. And I''m not going to use this review to berate any coffee maker I''ve researched or owned. I can humbly state that the product information on the Capresso SG120 speaks for itself. There were no reviews on this new model so I bought this trusting the reviews of other models on the Jura-Capresso website. This company only manufacturers and markets coffee makers and related accessories. The SG120 simply brews great HOT coffee. My use of purified water, natural filters, and freshly ground premium coffee beans optimizes the drink I begin every day with. I am completely satisified with this coffee maker.

My coffee pot gets used every single day, sometimes multiple times a day. I have had many different coffee makers over the years: Cuisinart, Krups, Mr. Coffee. I loved my Cuisinart, but recently they started making a much lower quality product. My most recent Cuisinart just died and I was planning to replace it with the same model, but read about that model catching fire and the multiple consumer complaints that were out there about it. So I went on a hunt for a new coffee maker. I was hesitant to buy this because both on Amazon and on another online retailer there were no reviews written yet. But I went ahead thinking it would be better to have a coffee maker that made mediocre coffee than one that caught fire. Luckily I was pleasantly surprised!! I''ve had this product about 1 week and so far I love it. The coffee is delicious, flavorful, hot and just the right strength (other manufacturers produce a watered-down coffee). And it looks really nice and sleek. It''s actually real stainless steel like Cuisinart used to be before they started using a stainless colored plastic! I am very pleased with my purchase and I highly recommend it!

After having 2 keurigs malfunction on me in 3 years I decided to purchase a standard drip machine. I''m the only coffee drinker in my home so I need a reliable machine that can make a quality cup in smaller doses. In that regard the Capresso delivers. I was concerned about the temperature as I only brew a couple of cups at a time, but even after adding milk straight out the fridge the Capresso delivers a piping hot cup thanks to its Aroma feature which slows down the brewing process. As expected from the Jura/Capresso reputation, the coffee tastes excellent. While I enjoyed my k-cup machines they don''t quite compare to grinding fresh beans, albeit this method requires a little extra effort in the morning.

This is not a high-end coffee maker but the build quality is great. It''s stainless steel body feels well constructed and is likely the best you''ll find in this price range. It''s clear that Capresso made a few concessions to keep the price down. There''s no coffee scoop or filter holder included as found in some other machines. The manufacturers packaging is minimal but sufficient. Also, some machines in this price range have a timer/auto-off feature for the warming plate, the Capresso has a two hour setting and nothing more. On the plus side; the lid closes snugly and clicks into place which is a thoughtful design feature and the shower head saturates the grounds evenly for a nice balanced cup. The water reservoir however has a narrow opening which makes pouring from the carafe delicate. I personally don''t use the carafe to fill the coffee maker but this may be an issue for others.

When the pot is finished brewing you''re alerted by 3 un-obnoxious beeps and the power indicator goes from red to green, another feature I''m fond of. For my uses and needs this machine is nearly perfect. I can brew 2 delicious hot cups with little fuss. If this machine lasts a couple of years I''ll be thrilled. So far after the first few uses I am thoroughly impressed. I''m happy I chose this model over some big name competitors. I believe this machine is one of the newer ones on the market but in the sub $100 price range this should be on your short list of coffee makers. I''m also in the market for a new grinder, I''ll look to the Capresso brand for that as well.

I''ve had this coffee maker for a week and so far I really like it. It is stylish and looks great on my countertop. I love the markings on the carafe showing how much water to put in to get a certain amount of cups of brewed coffee (depending somewhat on how finely the coffee is ground). The indicators on the inside of the water reservoir are easy to see. It brews my usual four cups in record time (which nets me two mugs of coffee). I tried the Aroma setting but it made the coffee a little too bitter for my taste. The regular setting makes a smooth, excellent cup of coffee. One downside for me is the three VERY loud beeps to signal it is done brewing. Noise bothers me, especially when I first wake up! It is taller than my previous coffee maker so when I open the lid to let the water reservoir dry out, the lid won''t stay open unless I pull it out from under the upper cabinet. But that is a minor inconvenience I have to pull it out to fill it anyway. I would highly recommend this coffee maker.

This coffee maker is replacing a Kcup machine. It just became too expensive, and I have to say I''ve never been impressed with any of the coffees or happy about the coupon games. I was a little worried about this purchase, with so few reviews. But, every product has to start somewhere. I will start with it is a nice looking machine. Clean appearance and a minimal footprint. The operation of this maker is simple, 6 buttons each has only one function so there aren''t any of those mystery buttons you have to tap two times or hold for three seconds to change a setting. The only potential issue is with the button arrangement. The Auto button is next to the Hour button. So, if you are careless or clumsy, you could accidentally change the clock hour when you are selecting the auto-brew function. The buttons are actually nicely sized. The coffee definitely brews hot. There are 3 beeps when the coffee is ready, 5 beeps when the two hour timer is turning the warmer plate off. All of the parts fit together well, even the lid has a sturdy feel when it is snapped closed. Very happy with this purchase.
