Pentair Water SF200R-S6-05 Omni Replacement Cartridge For Sf200 Shower Filter

Pentair Water SF200R-S6-05 Omni Replacement Cartridge For Sf200 Shower FilterAfter searching for a good shower water filter for a long time and trying other models, the Omni Filter SF200 is GREAT. It lasts for a long time and when broken open, contains 3" of charcoal. Other filters of this type might give you 1/2" or less, plus a bunch of cotton. The SF200R (replacement cartridge isn''t what I''d call cheap ($12) but it DOES last about six to eight months.

We tested the water in our 1 gallon counter-top tea-water boiler and after boiling down several times there were only a few clear crystals in the bottom, as opposed to the layer of crusty-yellow deposit after boiling dry. Now we fill the tea-water boiler from the shower and the water tastes better. This filter has proven itself. We used it for 8 months last time and when I broke it open with a hammer, we had used up about 2/3 of the charcoal; that''s with three showers a day. GET one they are the best.

I am in the silver carbon filter business. One of my customers purchased this UCE-9000 Turbo units. It worked fine for 3 days then stopped working. The company said it was the faucet so they sent her a new one and the old one was to be returned. I went back a few days later and installed the new one for her. The new faucet leaked from inside and the unit again would only run for about 3 seconds and then shut down. She returned the new faucet and the unit and we are now waiting for them to ship back the under counter unit.

Hope it works this time around.

This unit is very easy compared to other ion filters I have installed. I really like the design, automatic features and compactness of it.

Vitapur VWD1006BLP-BL Bottom Load Water Dispenser

Vitapur VWD1006BLP-BL Bottom Load Water DispenserI read on other reviews of this product that said it was a bit noisy and they were true. The noise is similar to an older wall mounted air conditioner. For me it''s worth not having to wait for my bf to pick up the water bottle or spilling some of it on the floor when I do it myself. It''s much better looking than the top loading ones with the exposed bottle, it also has lighting in the cup area that''s bright enough to not need additional lighting for a late night cup of water or tea.

I chose to return this item before I even used it. The product description does not accurately describe how it works. I''ve had a similar item by a different manufacturer for 4+ years until it recently broke. To replace it I thought I would try a sleeker looking brand of the same item. Well, it''s not the same. My old unit provided INSTANT Hot water. The Vitapur instructions booklet explains that to obtain hot water you have to press a red button then wait up to 3 minutes for Hot water to dispense. In 3 minutes I could boil water on the stove and not need this unit! The item description did not detail this part of it''s functioning.

Also, every time I opened the door to the lower storage area where the water bottle is place, the door would fall off! The hinge mechanism (if you can even call it that) is one of the cheapest designs I''ve ever seen and clearly does not work! For an item that is over $200 it is Not worth the money!

Although some reviews said this product was noisy, I do not agree. There is some mechanical noise when the unit is recharging its fill tank, however it only lasts a few seconds. Water is served hot or cold and works great! This is a quality built stand-alone water cooler.I am very pleased with this water cooler.

I was looking for a stainless steel water dispenser to complete my theme in my new kitchen and after several purchases and returns, I found the Vitapur dispenser and I love it. It is quite and only makes noise when it is filling up after use. If you need instant hot water, this machine is not for you because you have to wait at least three minutes which I don''t mind. Anyway, hope it last a very long time because it is awesome.

Love it Val

The first one I received was damaged in shipment and Amazon sent a replacement unit ASAP. Had this unit up & running for a while & although it''s a little noisy when refilling the storage tanks, it''s works & looks great; cold water, hot water, & room temp water are within temp ranges as expected. Replacing the 5gal bottle is a breeze without having to invert it as with units that have the water bottle on top. I would recommend this unit to those who don''t want to deal with the burden of lifting & inverting water bottles. Very happy with this unit.

Brita 42645 Aquaview On Tap Filtration System

Brita 42645 Aquaview On Tap Filtration System
  • Innovative water faucet filtration system from Brita
  • Observe filtration process through special window and choose between stream, spray, and filtered water
  • Diminishes contaminants including: cryptosporidium, giardia, lead, and sediment; fits most standard spouts
  • Includes electronic notification alerts users to change water filter
  • Weighs 2 pounds; no additional tools required for installation

Bought this filter at my local BJs warehouse store three weeks ago and installed it that same day. My wife and I have been big consumers of Poland Spring bottled water and decided to try this product to cut down on costs and to cut down on usage of plastic, throw-away bottles.

I wasn''t too sure I would like the water produced by this filter, but after three weeks of repeated use, I can vouch for the taste and the smell: both good. There is no characteristic "tap water" smell and you can''t tell the difference from Poland Spring. Plus, it''s very easy to install (comes with a variety of washers in case it does not fit straight off on your faucet).

It comes with two filters (good for about four or five months of use by an average family). You can get replacement filters easily at different stores (like BJs, Walmart, etc.).

Even if you currently drink water straight from the faucet, this product would be worthwhile for you to buy, for who wants to drink the lead and the chlorine that are present in most drinking water that is piped into homes in America? And if, like us, you are or were bottled water consumers, you will see no difference in taste AND see the savings mount up!

OCTOBER 8, 2005

After using this product for many months now, I can state I still think this is an excellent buy. We have not had to change the filter even once maybe Jersey City water is not that terrible compared to other places in America. We did have to change the battery once, which I thought a little surprising.

But after reading the negative reviews, I have to wonder: we have had ZERO problems with hot water and drips, unlike what a couple of other reviewers have suggested. Definitely highly recommended.

Buy Brita 42645 Aquaview On Tap Filtration System Now

We have had ours for awhile now and it seems to work pretty good. The biggest selling points were the size of it (it is out of the way when installed) and the design. The lever is strong and smooth and is easy to operate.

The Pur water filters seems to have a hard knob to turn and have a bad design which is in the way and tends to loosen. Also, the indicators on them never seem to ''line up'' all be the same. They start off black then go to white then go to red as the filter is used and approaches its 100 gallon limit lifespan. I have tried several Pur water filters and I don''t think any of the red indicators were ever in the same place.

This Brita is still on nice and tight. No leaks. No complaints. The stream and spray settings are nice to have in addition to the filtered drinking water. The filter itself is quite a bit easier to change than the Pur.

I was skeptical at first, but this is really a great product. The water here in Brooklyn often has a chlorine smell and taste. With this Brita system the water has no odor, is crystal clear and tastes great. It''s too new to have to replace the filter yet, but as the review and instructions say 1 filter is good for a 100 gallons of water (not 300). If you bought a 100 gallons of water it would cost well over $100. I wish I had invested in it sooner.

Any complaints about saying it doesn''t work as it should probably has to do with confusion about what they THINK it should do. It makes the water taste good, hands down. I live in Atlanta, and we have some nasty water here :) Thing is, I thought it would last 3 months or 300 gallons. Not a chance, it lasted 4 weeks and that was less than 100 gallons by far, probably 50. Now I have to buy the replacement filters, 1 a month! That being said, the water here is pretty bad like I said, so probably most areas last longer. Then again, if you''re buying this...

I purchased a Brita after being a devout pitcher system user for years. I''d had a faucet system from Pur a few years back and it leaked. I was hesitant to go the faucet route again. I figured I''d pay extra for this most expensive Brita model, assuming mechanical integrity.

Here''s my overview:

The installation (to the sink) was easy. The unit has not leaked at all. This is great.

The filter installation is easy. The battery installation was also easy.

I have owned the system for 4 months and replaced 2 filters. The Aquaview display in BJs shows a clearly worn filter needing replacement. This worn filter is shown through the Aquaview window. My own filters look as clean as the day I installed them at the point when the unit indicates yellow and red LED lights. This , by Brita''s own definition, is when you replace your filter.

The cost of these filters is $25 a whack. I would not mind this price if I felt the filter''s proverbial time was up. I''m feeling that I''m replacing good filters. I taste test the water each day. The tap water defintely tastes worse than the Brita water. Noticeable. This gives me confidence the unit is working. The Aquaview feature is supposed to be away to say--Hey look my filter is really dirty, it''s capturing the contaminants I''d drink. My town''s water is dirty. If you leave sheets wet in the washer, you will get a brown tinge.

Why are my filters clean in the Brita unit after two months. The LED says change the filter (RED Light). The aquaview shows me a clean filter to the naked eye. The price of use for these filters is $150 per year, with this red light going off every two months like a clock alarm. Brita is there a chance that the filter is still good, even with your LED light on? Can you let consumers in on this? I realize many contaminants may not make your filter elements dirty, but then why make something called an Aquaview filter, if the view shows a clean filter and I''m throwing away a clean filter.

So fellow consumers, beware! The proof is not in the pudding. Taste alone does not insure that harmful contaminants are not reaching me---this means the system may not be working even on week one. The LED light system, at least in my household, does not correlate even slightly with the naked eye Aquaview condition. My filters look like they could go another month or two without dirtying. This may be testimony to a really good filter. The taste test does not correlate with the Red Light. The water, even with a replace indicator, and a clean view indicator, still tastes better than tap and equivalent to the filter being a day or two old. I would say my filter is still good and Brita has me over replacing good filters but we''re dealing with the world of microbial contaminants---who are they to go liberal on filter conservation. On the other hand it''s a big hit to consumers and environment to be throwing these units away good.

So.......beware on this machine. You will probably, even with a dirty view, find yourself replacing filters sooner than the manufacturer describes. You may find yourself like me and another reviewer on this site, with LED lights going off and filters not looking dirty. I am curious about the New Jersey person who claims they have not changed it yet, seemed like about 6 months. This is disconcerting because the LED light is a timer or volume control and would go off regardless of your Aquaview filters visual condition. 6 months on a filter seems too long though and I''d conjecture you''re getting some bad stuff in your tap.

Brita please provide much greater detail on your website (which doesn''t work tonight for registration or support email.

Regards.

Mr. Coffee JWX9 5-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Save 38% Off

Mr. Coffee JWX9 5-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Black with Stainless Steel CarafeI''ve used my Mr. Coffee JWX9 5-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker daily for the last month. It brews good coffee at the right temperature for me, and the "five-cup" capacity is just right to fill my 20 oz travel mug as I head out for work. The basket is easy to load/unload (I use flat-bottom paper filters) and the stainless steel carafe is both durable and easy to clean. I''ve noticed no unpleasant tastes but I brew only with Brita-filtered cold water and custom-ground coffee from Starbucks. I also run white vinegar through every six weeks or so to keep everything clean.

It''s hard to find fault with a $25 kitchen appliance that does its job day-in and day-out. But I will anyway. First of all, coffee seems to burn faster in the stainless steel carafe than it did in the glass carafe from my previous 4-Cup Mr. Coffee. I don''t recommend leaving coffee on the burner for longer than 15-20 minutes after brewing. Trouble is, as other reviwers pointed out, coffee gets cold in the carafe pretty quickly when it''s removed from the heat. It''s also a bit tricky to pour water into the reservoir depending upon how the unit is situated on your counter. I''ve missed a couple of times and had to cleanup with a towel. And while you can tell that brewing has stopped by listening (the brew cycle is kinda loud), a "finished" indicator light would be nice especially for consumers who are hearing impaired.

I recommend this appliance and would buy another one.

When I saw this I immediately purchased it because I thought it would be a perfect size and unbreakable. Our last glass pot in our last coffeemaker was shattered. My husband''s main problems with this are that the reservoir has such a small opening that pouring water into it is awkward, and the coffee burns in the carafe if left in there after brewing. It seems like you have to immediately pour the coffee into your cup and turn it off or you get burned coffee in the pot. This was a problem because when it was programmed to make coffee in the morning, my husband felt like he had to run and get the coffee poured into his thermos or he would have nasty tasting coffee for the day. No leisurely cup of coffee in the morning! The stainless steel is a good idea but it just doesn''t work the way you think it would. We returned it.

First, a little background. My old Mr. Coffee maker died after many years of excellent service. It was the thermo-carafe type. I usually make coffee in the morning, drink a few cups and that''s it. I went thermal because with granite counter tops...there''s no forgiveness with glass. The slightest tap and...shatter!

This maker seemed as close as I could get to my old one and I was looking for a slightly smaller unit. Be forewarned...this coffee maker is VERY small. There is no "standard" for how many ounces there are in a "cup" of coffee. You''ll read it could be anywhere from 4.2 to 6 oz. (You can''t equate coffee cup with measuring cup.) The bottom line is this carafe holds 24 oz of liquid, that''s 4.8 oz per coffee "cup." If you use a mug, as I do, you''ll get two fills out of a pot. I would say this is a good coffee maker for a once-a-day use by one individual or for a private office. It''s won''t do if you entertain a lot or have multiple coffee drinkers in your household. The quality of the coffee is fine and I''ve never let the heating element on long enough to see if it overheats the coffee. (This carafe is not insulated.) The digital display is also hard to see, but I never use it as clock or time my coffee to brew.

I hate this coffee pot. Don''t buy it! I bought it thinking the stainless steel carafe would keep my coffee hot. Well, I got more than I bargained for! After it brews, you hear this weird boiling noise which means the coffee is not only hot but it is burning. I can''t keep the carafe on the burner for more than a few minutes. So now I only make enough for one cup at a time. I am definitely taking this back.

Got this at Target for $21. I''ve been using it for about a week and have had no problems. I was really surprised to read all the negative reviews. I got this small coffee maker to replace my Keurig K-cup machine since k-cups keep getting more and more expensive. I love the progammable feature, in fact that makes it more convenient than the Keurig in my opinion since the coffee is already hot and ready to drink when I walk downstairs in the morning. I haven''t had any problems with burning or leaking.

Great buy if you ask me!!

Zerowater Replacement Filters (2-pack)

Zerowater Replacement Filters - WhiteI have used these filters (ZR-017) for about two years and they seem to work well. They filter to zero on the enclosed tester for a very long time with our extremely hard water. They eliminate hard water spots on the stainless steel pet fountain which means they really are filtering out a huge amount of minerals. One spot would ordinarily create a white crusty ring that requires Lime-A-Way treatment to remove without scratching the surface with abrasives.

It tastes a lot better also. I like to keep the pitcher in the refrigerator in case that may lessen the possibility of bacterial growth, as our water is well water and not treated.

This replacement filter is working well so far. The reason I didn''t give it five stars is because at first the water tested a 3. But after puting it through the filter again it tested a zero. The filter that came with the pitcher didn''t last long before the reading went way up, so I am hoping that this filter lasts much longer. Time will tell.

As another reviewer noted it is a bit of a struggle to change the cartridge but that has a lot to do with where the unit is mounted. I have two of these units, one was already installed in a house I bought and I had the other installed in a condo. The one in the house is at the back of the cabinet under the sink and it is a bear to change. The other I had put up front and it''s not bad at all. For one thing you must follow the instructions to the letter when changing the cartridge. If you do, it won''t be hard and it won''t leak. There is a little stick-on alarm device that tells you when to change the cartridge. Throw that away, it''s purpose is to sell more cartridges. The cartridge needs replacing when the flow gets slow. Mine last a year or more (2 people). Also, ask you plumber which system he or she recommends. Mine thinks highly of Everpure.

Buy Everpure EV9270-76 H-300 Drinking Water System Now

Explore alternatives before buying this system. Although the cartridge lasts longer than others, it is very difficult for a person to replace, especially a woman or older man. The company makes it sound so easy, just insert and turn 1/4. You don''t know you have it in right until you turn it on and then after 30 seconds of water running, it falls off and water is all over the cabinet. It''s inexpensive compared to a whole house system, but I wish I had a whole house system instead of fighting with the cartridge when I need to replace it. Once in place, the filter does do an excellent job of removing bad water taste. If you''re a handyman and able to maneuver under sinks, this will serve you fine. I am very frustrated at how hard this filter is to insert exactly right. It''s not easy doing it by yourself and your neck and arms will ache from trying to get it in.

First off, I may be a bit biased because we owned a 5 stage reverse osmo system prior to this. But I purchased this for its easy and simplicity. But when I installed it I was really disappointed with the water quality. The taste was really bad. Over time the taste has gotten more tolerable, but as soon as this filter slows down, and needs to be replaced? I''m going back to the Premier reverse 5 stage system sold from Costco. I would not recommend this to anyone who care how there water tastes.

Sorry I really don''t like making bad reviews. But this thing isn''t a good filtration system.

UpDate 1/29/11

This filter is really bad. I''m finally having to change it out and trash the entire system. For people who have this system try and fill a dish of water and let it sit over night. Ours would develop a chemical film on the surface. We wash and cook rice with the filtered water. Lately the rice we cook with the filtered water developed a really bad rotting odor, after a few hours. My wife was thinking it was the rice cooker? But I suggested that she try and cook some using the bottled water. (She did) the rice was absolutely perfect.

I don''t know what this filter is filtering but it appears to be making the water quality worse.

This unit was a complete waste of money! Didn''t even last a year! Terrible filter!

I''m off to CostCo to purchase the new Watts Premier 4RO system.

Want Everpure EV9270-76 H-300 Drinking Water System Discount?

Since bottled drinking water 1) costs about 10.00 a gallon if you factor in the environmental costs.and 2) is mostly manufactured by soft drink companies???? I took the plunge and had this unit installed. I did read reviews and made sure the unit was put toward the front of my kitchen cabinet for easy replacement changes. But I am a woman and have had no issues with it at all. Great tasting water...at a low environmental impact.

The unit works fine but it a devil to install if you don''t like squatting or bending over and sitting in an awkward position while attempting to install the cartridge. I didn''t pull the lever down completely to turn the water off for installation and I had water gushing all over my kitchen. If you do it properly, it is over in a jiffy. I have a water softener system which causes the Everpure to be used up much more quickly, so that is a problem too. I''m replacing this cartridge after just four months of use with two people.

These GE replacement filters work just fine, but at $40 each, a bit pricey. Yes, I know that they do more than my car''s auto filter, but when I can get an entire oil change for $25... it just makes you think twice about spending so much on water.

We''ve had this unit for over a year now it has several advantages over other past units we''ve owned, the biggest being you don''t need extra valves installed to turn the water off to the filter before changing it! Changing the filter is a snap, literally, even I can do it, and it only takes about two minutes from opening the box to putting the old ones in the trash. Put it in an accessable place, we use about two filter sets a year. The water quality is clean, clear and has no chemical taste that I''ve noticed.

I have owned the GE filtration system for over 5 years now and replace the filters about every 6 months. I had not previously been able to locate these filters for less than 35 dollars anywhere. Additionally, there were only a few retailers that carried this model filter in stock with regularity. Amazon to the rescue. Same filters, for less money. Also, if you are on the fence about purchasing a GE water filtration system, don''t be. I have very hard well water, very iron rich, and even with a softener the taste wasn''t ideal. The water coming out of this GE system tastes every bit as good as bottled water.

Bought these for my smart water system to replace the GXRLQR filters that seem just about impossible to find (for a good price). The form factor is exactly the same. However, if you look at the top of the filter, you''ll notice that the inlet hole is much larger on the FQSLF filter than with the GXRLQR filter. This initially caused some problems with my filtration system. The hoses started to rattle and the water jetted out of the spout, only to become aerated, then dwindle down. I closed off the cutoff valve for the filter, undid the filter, then re-engaged it. Next I opened up the spigot and slowly opened the cut-off valve. I stopped when I got sufficient flow though the spigot. So far, it seems to be working well. If it continues to perform as such, I just found a cheaper replacement for my filters!

GE makes their replacements kind of confusing. You have undersink replacements with the FQSLF, you have inline with the FQSLF, and the fridge ones with the FQSLF. Ordering is an extreme chore. They like to stop producing certain models and then you end up having to wonder which replacement will fit your system.

These ones fit well for my older model undersink filtration system. The value beats anything in the store and the shipping was quick. These also last six months, so much better than using a brita filter! :)

My only niggle on this is the capacity. it would be fine if I wasn''t relying so heavily on my humidifier for my sinuses. but without it. the entire house fills up with that awful white mineral dust that gets in to everything and actually can trigger my asthma.

My house plants also love it. our tap water in Dallas is so hard it actually can kill the houseplants.

My fish tanks are doing much better on the distilled water as the hardness of the tap water destroys the little filters by gumming up the parts with hard, mineral deposits and I have not lost one filter or a fish since switching to the distilled water.

bear in mind, this thing puts off a ton of heat.. it''s like having a space heater on the 750 watt setting while it''s running. I tuck mine in the back bathroom in the part of the house I rarely use because of the heat. especially in the summer.

The distilled water tastes like plastic has been melted in it. Gross! Apparently this is melted glue and is supposed to go away over time. I''m losing my patience as I have distilled 10-15 gallons of water it and still no change in the taste or smell. I will give the distiller credit for removing dissolved solids though consistently 1-2ppm. The only thing I would recommend this distiller for is watering your plants as it produces acidic water in the 5.5 to 6.5 ph range.

I ordered this item about a month ago. A week or later after my order I sent an email to the seller, and found out that it was on the back order and they promised to ship it in two weeks. It arrived about two weeks later, as they mentioned. The distiller looks and feels well-built, even though it''s mostly all plastic. Works fine in a sense that it makes the distilled water.

The main problem though was that the water was not drinkable at all. It had a strong chemical odor and taste. I tried a glass jar, as one of the on-line forums suggested, but it didn''t make any difference. Then I found a forum at the bottom of this product page right here on Amazon, to which I also contributed. It''s called "How to get that plastic smell out of the water?"

Here is the link just in case:

http://www.amazon.com/that-plastic-smell-out-water/forum/Fx1VWL73TB130G2/Tx1E0U1PTZCM6M8/1/ref=cm_cd_dp_ef_tft_tp?_encoding=UTF8&asin=B0057RCE00

I will not repeat the details here, but just want to mention that Westinghouse is familiar with the problem and claims it is due to a glue :-), and the smell should disappear after some usage. I ran the unit for a few days while disposing the produced water just to get rid of the smell. After a few weeks of using the unit, the glue is still leaching into the water, and I have to use a carbon filter in a pitcher to remove the odor. The smell gets weaker, but is still present. I got a reply from Westinghouse to my email that says the issue was passed to the management, and that they will inform me on the solution, but I haven''t gotten anything from them yet.

I don''t know if it''s important or not, but I didn''t use the included mineral cartridge, so I don''t know if it makes a difference. As you can tell from my story, I was mostly focusing on making sure the distilled water was odorless, as I thought it should be before making this purchase.

If you have similar problems with your units, or found a remedy, please post it here, or on the forum below. I am thinking about keeping the unit, hoping this problem will fade away, so I would like to learn about this issue as much as possible.

I paid over $400 for this product. When the product works, it works well, exceptionally well. Count on it for a year or so. If you use as I did daily, then you have a large amount of electricity flowing thru this product on a daily basis, please note that as electricity flows, the electrical connections within this device are "wear parts" and this become paramount.

People do not think of electrical connections as "wear parts." However, this product is not a TV. Here the intense electrical charge needed to distill water, blows fuses, and burns other internal metal components and melted the plastic housing in the device in my case.

The electrical connection between the plastic housing, which connects to an electrical wall outlet, and the tank, which plugs into another electrical outlet within the device is less than sufficient, in my opinion, for the task. As a metaphor, think of your clothes hangers and imagine they were made out of piano wire instead, and you''ll get my point. The powerful electrical charge required by this device corrodes the connections, and in my case caused failure twice. Once we sent the machine back to Aqua Via and they fixed it without charge. However, they (Aqua Vie) have disappeared, and now neither parts nor support seems available thru Westinghouse. Will somebody from the company contact me and tell where I can get parts?

This electrical problem is, in my opinion, a curable design flaw. It is a big deal rendering the machine useless for most people. Who cares to take their clothes iron apart when it stops working? It could be small deal if one knows the problem of which I write exits and could get the parts. I could fix this with an overpriced $10 or $12 part. Many people maytrash this otherwise excellent product when it does not "go." This reminds me of joke where the youngsters are on the porch and the boy ask, "what does your father do for a living." The girl says, "he takes apart things that don''t go, so you better go."

All first of all I got this through another site at a considerable discount. I had read the reviews about the gluey plastic smell to the water but for the price I paid I was willing to try it.

Ok, distillation to remove impurities make sense and is proven in science that this works. So I am not worried about that end of the process working or not. However I know from experience distilled water is dead it has not taste and no oxygen, one person said they use it in their small fish tank, I would not do this.

Washing out both units before the first use and as directed when you replace the mineral cartridge is a good idea.

Now having read the reviews of the "plasticy/gluey" smell I was sceptical about it. I have a ver sensitive sense of smell. When I took it out out of the it smell like new plastic. No suprise it is new after all.

I washed BOTH chambers and risned them extremely well. Then I added the water and sealed it in, pushed it in place, turned it on and waited, the directions stated this would take 4 to 4 1/2 hours to produce one caraffe of pure water. Remember to take the cap off the pure water chamber and have soaked the mineral cartridge for at least 3 minutes the directions state 30 but I went 3 miutes to assure the water was moving through it and then put in the pure water caraffe.

The first caraffe of pure water took 4 hours to produce as the direction stated, it smelled like plastic, so I ran another caraffe tossed the 2nd one and the third I am drinking now, I am very pleased with the results. There is about a 1/4 cup of water that remains in the chamber after the distillation process. Toss this water out and rinse it out then add new water just to the bottom of the tabs in the black chamber. It is important to just add water to the bottom of the tabs because it boils the water and needs the room to expand and allow the water to boil.

There is only one issue I have with the unit is the noise of the cooling fan. It is very noisy, I live in a condo and I put it in my bathroom so I don''t hear it. Also this puts out a lot of heat, it''s supposed too, let the water cool before you move it to another container.

I had tried a Britta, 3M Filtreet water pitchers, do they filter the water, yes BUT they can not remove the cholrine and other impurities their water tasted OK, the Westinghouse Aquavie is good choice if you need to remove the cholrine and other contaminates. I am pleased with it.

Be sure to do a internet search for it, you will find better prices a site affiliated with the one still has a stock of them for $64.99 on 11/7/2012 at 0127 hours they were showing to have 65% left. Their first part of their name starts with Ben.

BUNN VPR Commercial 12-Cup Pour-Over Coffee Brewer Save 20% Off

BUNN VPR Commercial 12-Cup Pour-Over Coffee Brewer, with 2 WarmersAbout 15 years ago, I purchased a Bunn home duty coffee maker and found it to be excellent. After about 5 years of nearly daily use, it started to get a little finicky so I took it apart in an attempt to clean the hot water chamber. Turned out the sealing parts are not really made to be taken apart after 5 years of use and then go back together.

In a quest for a new Bunn, I found that the VPR cost about double what the home version cost so.... 10 years later, the Bunn VPR is still going strong and has helped out at family events serving large groups of people (just what the machine is designed for!). Despite having water poured into the bottom heat plate (don''t try to pour water in without a carafe in place), it still works perfectly!

A hint to those who make coffee only on the weekends: the design of the Bunn is that it is a small hot water tank and keeps a couple gallons of water hot and ready to go at all times. This will use some electricity and I''ve taken to putting a towel over the top of mine to help insulate and lower energy usage. Additionally, being hot all the time, water will evaporate. If going more than a couple days without making coffee, it''s best to pour a pitcher of water in (with the filter basket empty and a carafe ready to catch the hot water) to top off the tank and then make a pot with coffee after it has reheated the reservoir.

If by some Act of God, my Bunn stops working, I will not hesitate to purchase another Commercial Bunn for what is essentially personal, home use. If you love coffee and can tolerate the price, this is a great choice for a coffee brewer!

I have worked in the foodservice industry for years, and the Bunn has always been the standard by which commercial coffeemakers are judged. Years ago, I decided to buy the consumer version for my home, and although it served me well, it eventually wore out and I wanted something better and sprang for the VPR. One nice feature of the Bunn is that you can unscrew the sprayhead, leave the filter basket off and you can instantly have a couple of pots of very hot water available for recipes. I typically buy the gallon size Lipton tea bags, put one in a decanter, run a decanter of water through and let it steep for about 10-15 minutes and add enough water to make a gallon, people love my Iced tea.

If you do unscrew the sprayhead, set it in the screened inlet where you pour the water into the maker, so that you don''t inadvertently start a pot of coffee without the sprayhead in place. I did get a steal of a deal on mine new on ebay for $100.00...

I am very unhappy about the write up on this item. I did not see the notation on the bottom of the page "Please note that the decanters for this unit (Bunn 6100 and 6101 Easy Pour) are sold separately." until the order had been processed. Both Costco and Sams had the same unit with 2 decanters included for less money. In all, this added $75.00 over the units from the other retailers. You should put that info on the top of the page in the description so a consumer can compare "apples to apples" not apples to lemons".

PS. after discussing the issue on the phone with Jacques (JD) in Customer service, an adjustment was made. He noted there were 2 pictures there one with and one without decanters and the larger picture used in the display had 2 decanters. On closer inspection, I discovered they were different models. The one with the decanters has a black protective lid on the water inlet while the one with no decanters had no lid or perhaps a different design feature. Kudos to Jacques for prompt and great customer service.

SPT SU-4010 Ultrasonic Dual-Mist Warm/Cool Humidifier Save 32% Off

SPT SU-4010 Ultrasonic Dual-Mist Warm/Cool Humidifier with Ion Exchange FilterPros:

1. It actually turns on. I got this unit after my Crane Adorable Humidifier (Penguin shape) refused to turn on.

2. It just works. I have a 10x13 room and this humidifier took my room''s humidity from 21% to 42% in about 3 hours.

3. I really like the form factor. The unit is only 5.31 inches deep so it can easily fit on top of a short bookcase that also has a small depth. Few other humidifiers would fit where I have this humidifier right now.

4. It is fairly easy to fill. The top of the tank is flat so that when you turn the tank upsidedown to fill it, it can lie flat.

5. I''m pretty happy with the mist quality. Even on the highest setting, you''re not going to see fat droplet sizes coming out. You are not going to end up with a puddle on the floor as long as you put it on a surface at least 2 feet above the floor.

Cons:

1. Some reviewers have complained about water leaking out of the tank. I noticed that on my unit, the washer (or o-ring) for the tank cap is a little bit too big. If you turn the cap shut too tightly, the o-ring will roll on itself, and the next time you unscrew the cap and screw it back on, the washer may not provide a good seal because it is out of place. Even the manual tells you to make sure the washer is in place when screwing on the cap. As long as the washer is in place, it won''t leak. This is just a slight annoyance.

2. If you are blowing warm mist and you want to change it back to cool mist, it''ll take awhile for it to become cold again because the unit does not actively cool the water. You''ll have to either pour out the existing warm water in the base or wait until all the warm water in the base gets sent out. I am not a big fan of warm mist so it''s a non-issue.

3. The unit is fairly quiet and I am pretty sure most people can sleep with the unit on without a problem. However, I am an ultra-sensitive sleeper and anything louder than completely silent is too much for me. If it was the just the humming noise, I think I would be able to take it, but what bothers me the most is the inevitable random water sounds caused by the ultrasonic plate generating large droplets of water and those droplets of water coming back down. Almost every humidifier will do that. The water noise is fairly low, it is just the randomness of the noise that annoys me when I try to sleep. When I am awake and my computer is on, I barely notice the humidifier because my computer is many times noisier than the humidifier and my computer is already pretty quiet.

Tradeoffs:

1. Yes, the tank is only 4 liters, but do you want a humidifier that fits on a bookcase or not?

2. Sure, the tank only last 12 hours on the maximum setting, but isn''t that the point of a humidifier? If you desperately want humidity, wouldn''t you want the humidifier to empty the tank as quickly as possible?

Other thoughts:

It is nice that this unit comes with a water filter, but of course the manual will recommend that you fill it with distilled water rather than tap water. Considering that I''ll be breathing the water I put into the humidifier, I''ve been filling my tank with water that I''ve passed through a Brita filter in a water pitcher. However, doing that is somewhat a pain because it takes multiple pitchers to fill up the tank. I am thinking about getting a faucet filter so that I can fill the tank quickly.

UPDATE: My 10x13 room just hit 50% relative humidity and I''m loving it. My windows are starting to fog up, maybe I should turn it off.

I got this for my son and it is the best humidifier yet.

I''ve tried a bunch of inexpensive ultrasonic, evaporation, and heating element based units but this one is the first that actually went ALL night.

It has a output volume knob that actually works: High is as thick as pea-soup fog and low is merely mouth breathing.

There is a built-in filter on the water supply so that may extend the life a bit but I don''t know yet.

The light''s aren''t the super annoying injection laser diodes that I''ve seen on other models.

The vapor direction nozzle is nice because you can point the power and water alarm lights away from your bed.

I really like this humidifier. Last year I tried to use the "Honeywell HCM-6009 QuietCare 9-Gallon Console Humidifier with Air Washing Technology" and was disgusted by the poor quality of it. The thing started to smell like mildew after one week, so I cleaned the filter and it was okay for only one day. We returned it.

The sunpentown humidifier has an ion exchange filter, so it doesn''t smell at all. Plus, it is SILENT!! Even on high, you cannot hear it AT ALL.

We use it in a large living room (twice the size of the recommended area) and it works just fine. Also, you can actually see the mist coming out. In the words of a previous reviewer, it really is like pea soup.

We use it on medium and the water tank lasts for about 12-14 hours. If you use it in a smaller room, the low setting would work just fine, so it would last much longer.

The reason I only gave it four stars is because when the setting is on high, the water vapor coming out of the humidifier is so thick and heavy that most of it falls to the ground, getting everything damp and wet, and getting less moisture into the air. In fact, even on the medium setting, we have it set up on a countertop to maximize evaporation. This humidifier does not work well when placed on the floor.

We have had this humidifier for a few months now, and are very happy with it. Also, it looks very nice. It is not bulky and ugly like other humidifiers.

This is the best of the humidifiers I''ve purchased so far. The mist is extremely fine and the dual direction spout is handy. No irritating mineral deposit pads either. The litmus test will be how long the ionic filter actually lasts.

I''ve found that I only have to refill the unit once daily if I keep the humidity dial on a lower setting. If you want to raise the humidity, just be prepared to refill more frequently. Of interest is that the warm vapor setting results in vapor that isn''t hot so much as luke warm. Still, it''s better than cold vapor.

One special notation is that Amazon recommends combining this product purchase with the Protec Antimicrobial Cleaning Cartridges. However, the Protec instruction sheet contained in the package clearly instructs users to never use the product with ultrasonic humidifiers. Heads-up...

This unit got me through some very dry winter days. I''ll list the pros and cons:

PROS:

1. It is thin and compact and can fit on a bedstand, unlike some of its big ugly hulking competitors.

2. It is almost completely silent!

3. The steam nozzle swivels so you can direct where it goes.

4. The translucent blue water chamber is nice for seeing the water level at a glance.

5. Finely adjustable mist levels, and hot/cold mist.

CONS:

1. The blue water chamber fills up from the bottom. So you have to take it off, turn it upside down and unscrew a cap in order to fill it up. Not a huge deal, but not the most convenient method either.

2. The entire unit has to be carried from the bottom since the blue water chamber merely sits on the top of the white section. Again, not a big deal once you have the unit where you want it.

3. The hot/cold mist didn''t work for me. Maybe the heat element in mine is broken, but I didn''t really feel the difference between the hot and cold settings. I didn''t really care; cold mist was fine.

4. It''s a little pricey as these devices go. But worth it, in my opinion.

Overall, a very nice unit.

UPDATE 2011: This unit is still going strong. It did start making some annoying gurgling noises, so I ran steaming hot water through both the top reservoir and the bottom piece (unplugged first, of course). This fixed the gurgling problem and also gave me a nice surprise: the hot mist feature, which never did anything before, started working! I clean it a little more often now in order to prevent future gurgling, and I put a ProTec antimicrobial cleaning cartridge in there monthly.

Austin Air Allergy Machine Jr. HM205

Austin Air Allergy Machine Jr. Air Purifier - BlackThis is the first time I''ve purchased an air purifier not based on the cadr, so I was a little nervous. But it is great. From day one, the air in my bedroom has smelled very fresh. In addition, I purchased this because of a potential mold problem in my apartment. Since using it, I have experienced less symptoms than before. I like it so much, I''m thinking of purchasing another one for my second floor because the old Hunter I have isn''t sufficient.

I would recommend this air purifier to anyone, especially if you have allergies. The only reason I didn''t give this a 5-star rating is because it is a little noisy on high (although for normal uses, it probably wouldn''t need to always be run on high like I''m doing because of my mold problem). Also, you have to have some place out of the way to put it as it must be set 8 inches from the wall with the air output facing away from the wall.

I actually won this machine on an allergy website and have been using it for over a year now. I love it! My allergies are really bad and this machine plus my medicine allows me to keep all my cats and dogs. It does not allow me to be symptom free but if you are an allergy sufferer, you know that you will never be allergy free and you can make breathing a little easier with this machine. It is quiet enough for the bedroom and simple to take care of. The pre-filter gets replaced every year and it is easy to do and inexpensive. The HEGA filter is really expensive but it only needs to be changed every three years so you really aren''t spending too much in the long run. You don''t have to open the machine to clean the filters either, you just vacuum the outside once a week and you are done! The Jr model does a room up to 750 sq ft and the regular model does a room up to 1500 sq ft. I highly recommend this machine!

I have owned a few few other airfilters before, and this is by far the best. I have a mild allergy to my cats and i use this machine reduce the symptoms. It does a commendable job. Highly recommended. The only reason I am not giving it a five star is because it can get a little noisy at the higher fan settings. My cats tend to get flustered when that happens. But overall a good buy.

I bought this Austin purifier to help me with my indoor allergies. I no longer wake up with a stuffy nose, itchy eyes, or a scratchy throat. This filter runs all night in my bedroom. The medium setting is not loud, but the highest setting is very loud. Be sure that you read the instructions before operating, because they state that you should use the purifier on the highest setting for at least one hour. I usually set the filter on high for an hour before I go to bed. Austin air purifiers are the only purifiers still made in the USA. The nice workmanship, fit and finish, and steel exterior are things that set it apart from the cheaper purifiers made by Honeywell and others.
