Royal Berkey Water Filter With 4 Black Filters & 4 PF-2 Fluoride Filters

Royal Berkey Water Filter With 4 Black Filters & 4 PF-2 Fluoride FiltersThis filter is just plain awesome.

The initial cost is higher yes, you looking at say 600 bucks for a 4 filter/4 pf-2 unit.

But its built solid, it looks good and it works.

No grime, fluoride and no constant changing of filters for a long long time.

Each black filter is rated at around 3000 gallons, each pf2 fluoride is rated at 1000.

So my unit with 4 of each would last me 4000 gallons on the pf2''s and around 12000 gallons on the black filters.

Now 4000 gallons of drinking water for the cost of around 50-60 bucks a filter, is not bad at all.

Especially when you look at the over the counter brittas and the like which cannot compete in the jobs they do, and for the quantity of water filtered, they cannot compete in price either.

Make the initial cost up front for one of these that will last you a life time and have far better water at a far better price.

I can''t believe I haven''t given my review yet. This is the 2nd Berkey water filter I''ve gotten because we lost the first in a house fire. I love my Berkey. I always want to have a Berkey. They work great!

2 Black Berkey Replacement Filters & 2 PF-2 Fluoride Filters

2 Black Berkey Replacement Filters & 2 PF-2 Fluoride FiltersI have used Berkey filters for some time, and been very satisfied, but these replacement filters are not the quality that I had come to expect from Berkey. They are glued together at the bottom with the glue showing, and they came unglued after just a couple of weeks of usage, making them virtually useless. In previous replacement filters, the water dripped through slowly and in these they went through very fast, meaning that they really aren''t doing a very good filtering job. Either Berkey has compromised their formerly high standards, or these are incredibly cheap knock-offs, and I don''t trust thme to filter the water to any degree of the standard that they claim.

The filters arrived in a timely manner, and were well-packaged to prevent damage. The invoice even included a pleasant hand-written note.

So far, the filters are operating up to specifications. Although they''re a little pricey, they save a bundle in the long run as compared with buying bottled water. In addition, this filter system operates without plumbing or electricity, so it can also be used in emergency situations.

It`s kinda weird reviewing a water filter replacement cartridge, because there`s not a whole lot to say. Been using the Berkey filter for 10 years and am very happy with it. Everyone needs a gravity water filter. When the grid goes down, you won`t need electricity for this thing to work. At any rate, one of the reviewers mentioned the silicon glue at the bottom of the black filter was visible and the carbon filter was actually coming apart from the base, hence the water was just pouring through unfiltered. This happened to me as well, from a pair I ordered a couple years ago. The Berkey company had a statement about this on their websitethere was a batch that was constructed with bad glue. They apologized and sent out new filters to everyone who had purchased a bad pair within that time frame. It was a drag not to have filters for a couple of weeks, but worth it in the end.

Great filter. Great company.

My son who is in college need a good clean source of drinking water, and we all know they''re always in a budget. So 3 years ago, (during his freshman years), I got him the Berkey water filtration system. He loved it, not only he have to walk all day long to his campus but he does a lot of soccer, martial arts and just plain running around. So he needs lot and lots of drinking water, those bottled water doesn''t work for him, they''re expensive and none environmental friendly, that''s why all he need was a good sports water bottle and made his own drinking water. The water came out so clean and taste good that even his friend comes and ask water from him. Now that it''s been a good couple of years, he told me to get the filter replaced, so, I searched around and found the best deal from Amazon.com. I would highly recommend the water system for college bound kids or use it when you travel. We have a "whole house" filtration system, so it''s not necessary for us to use it at home, but for those who doesn''t I would definitely recommend Berkey.

I know the manufacturer says they don''t remove the minerals, but I don''t think these filters remove anything other than $$ from your wallet. After boiling the supposedly "filtered" water through these so-called filters one is left with the worrying question... "what is all this crud that''s left after the water has evaporated?" Try boiling with spring or RO water and the pan remains clean no highly questionable crusty crud''s left behind. As for the so-called PF-2''s fluoride filters which loosely hang of the black filter threads like a Biafran in Fatty Arbuckles pants the lab tests from 3M were terrifying. Municipal supply of the sample sent averages 0.30 0.60ppm FLUORIDE. 3M Lab Result: 0.36 ppm of FLUORIDE remained in the sample of the "filtered" water that was submitted.

Aqua Mix Stone Enhancer Save 4% Off

Aqua Mix Stone Enhancer - QuartMy contractor uses this on every slate floor job he does. It does enhance (darken) the colors of the stone as well as seal. Once dry, it isn''t shinythe rocks still look dry. They just have that deep color you''d see if they were wet. I had accidentally bought a different product (that turned out to be just a sealer) to finish another stone floor that I had done myself. There was a big difference. The rocks with the plain sealer were a lot lighter and more dull. Thank goodness I could get that other sealer off by using acetone so that I could still use this enhancer on that floor.

I built an outdoor kitchen and used natural thin veneer stone (excellent stuff from Beuchel Stone btw) to cover the base. The stone looked nice, but lacked depth of color. I didn''t want a "wet" look either, just for the stone to look the way it did when it got wet. This product is perfect. I had about 100 sq ft to cover, and the quart was just about right. Applied easily with a paintbrush, and a towel to dab at the foamy parts. Easy to see where it''s been applied as you do it, and looks perfect in a day or so.

I used the Aqua Mix stone enhancer on a new travertine back splash. I first applied it to a few test tiles, and while it had some effect I was somewhat disappointed. While pondering these results I noticed how much stone dust remained on the tiles from being processed. After thoroughly cleaning a few more test tiles and applying I was very pleased with the results.

To clean the entire back splash I scrubbed it down with a wet scotchbrite pad, then wiped it down with a CLEAN grout sponge. By clean, I mean I would only wipe a very small area before rinsing the sponge. The scotchbrite also did a great job of cleaning up any excess grout I had left behind. Unless you don''t want the colors to come out at all, I think you would really have to do this with just about any natural stone.

While applying I was a little concerned about some grout joints. I kept seeing hairline cracks in the grout where the sealer was penetrating quickly. In other areas the sealer did not seem to be penetrating the grout evenly even where there were no cracks. However, several hours later, everything was nice and even with no issues.

Actual application of the product was easy and I would say it could be applied with just about anything (brush, sponge, high-nap roller, etc.). It is a little on the thick side so applying on a vertical surface isn''t impossible but not too thick. I used about 1/3 of the quart to cover about 35 square feet of 1in X 2in travertine with a 1/2in X 1/2in accent in it, but applied it quite liberally and had a fair amount that had dripped down to my granite counter, where I just wiped it in to the counter.

The final result was essentially all the colors that showed through wile it was wet, but without the glossy finish.

In summary:

It''s extremely important to make sure the tiles are clean and have any stone dust removed prior to application.

The penetration of the sealer will even out over several hours.

Ultimately, this product is only going to reveal the colors present in the stone. Wet your tiles well and that is the color you will end up with, but with a matte finish.

I purchased this stone enhancer for some interior ledge stone I had installed in my living room. After reading the reviews, I thought I should spend the money to get the best quality item. A few days before I applied the enhancer, I cleaned all of the stones with soapy water (dawn dishwashing soap) and microfiber cloths. This really improved the look of the stones. (After installation, they looked chalky and bland.) Days later, I applied the enhancer to a portion of my wall. When first applied, the stone looked wet and dark and I was scared I had made a mistake because they were so dark. The next day I couldnt tell any difference between the stones I had covered and the ones I had not. The liquid is much like a runny Vasoline. I wish I had not spent the money.

I have a sandstone waterfall in my house entrance and after 10 years was beginning to look crappy. I had it cleaned with acid and other cleaners but the stone was still dull. A tile installer recommended stone enhancer so I tried this via Amazon. It came into 2 days. I brushed it on with a paint brush, added a second coat and voila a newly restorred waterfall. Everyone comments how nice the stone looks.

Mr. Coffee Programmable Coffeemakers Save 20% Off

Mr. Coffee DRX5 4-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, BlackI bought the Mr. Coffee 4-cup coffee maker a month and a half ago, and have no complaints thus far. I use the thing almost every day.

Time involvement:

I am a college student and part time employee who wakes up a different time each morning of the week, and I also like to drink tea sometimes instead of coffee. Mostly I brew coffee in the morning, but sometimes I like to see if I can go all day without a caffeine dependence, only to find I need to brew a cup late in the evening to finish my day''s responsibilities. So far, this coffee maker has fit very well into my irregular coffee drinking schedule. It brews all four cups in about 5 minutes, and it only takes a few minutes to place in a filter, add coffee grounds, brew, then rinse the carafe and removable coffee filter basket. On days when I''m racing out the door, taking the small amount of time to prepare my coffee doesn''t impede my rush.

Taste:

I buy gourmet coffee, and I find that the coffee comes out tasting great. Sometimes I take my gourmet coffee to the brewer at work--which is a 12-cup, 2-carafe brewer--and the coffee isn''t nearly as good. Since these are the only brewers I''ve used regularly, I''m not sure if there are any brewers that brew "cleaner," but since I don''t notice any unusual tastes in my coffee, I''d say this one is pretty clean. To enhance taste, I use cold water from my Brita faucet filter--I''ve found that impurities in tap water are sometimes amplified when heated in coffee brewers. I use paper filters now, just because there weren''t any 4-cup permanent filters at the store when I bought this, but I hear permanent filters provide even cleaner of a taste.

Speaking of the filter, I''ve read a few reviews complaints about the filter folding over and allowing grounds to drain into the carafe. If this is the only problem, a permanent filter will certainly take care of this. However, I have not once had this problem.

Size:

If you have more than one coffee drinker in the house, or you are someone who likes a lot of coffee to get going, you may need the 12 cup brewer. 4 cups are enough for me to put in my thermos and sip on all day at work or college, and if I ever need more, I prefer a fresh brew anyway. There''s just something about the taste of reheated coffee that turns me off.

Carafe:

The 4-cup carafe is well built and easy to pour. I saw reviews about how hard it is to pour without spilling--I haven''t had a single spill yet. Just make sure you keep the lid from flopping open. If you need to, place your thumb next to the hinge when holding it to keep it closed (if you own this, you should know what I mean). The one complaint I do have about it, though--and it''s minor--is the extreme tapered shape. The taper at the top creates a little "shelf" where the last few drops of coffee get caught when pouring, and you almost have to invert the carafe completely upside down to get it out. However, the amount caught on this shelf is very small and not worth inverting to get out. I always rinse my carafe out after finishing the coffee, and it''s no problem to invert the carafe over the sink.

Timer:

At first, I was upset that the "delay brew" feature needed set every night. I was hoping for a brewer that you turned on once, and it would automatically brew every morning. Now I know why they built this brewer this way. There are times I''m just too busy to remember changing the filter and coffee, or I forget to replace the carafe on the heated plate after rinsing it. I''d hate to wake up the next morning and see twice brewed coffee in my carafe, or worse, all over my counter and floor! This feature is a blessing for busy and scatterbrained people. And since you need to change the coffee and filter each night to have automatic brew the next morning anyway, turning the "delay brew" button on each night isn''t any more of an inconvenience.

My brewer sits between my microwave and stove, both of which have clocks. I haven''t noticed the time being off on my brewer in the time I''ve had it, like others have experienced.

Other:

It''s small, light, and the filter basket comes out so you can rinse it after each brew. I think that''s important to the freshness of your coffee. I''ve also torn open tea bags and poured the ground leaves into the coffee filter so I could brew large batches of tea. This seems to work great and really maximizes the flavor of the tea, but since tea stains easier than coffee, I have to pay more attention when I rinse my filter basket and carafe so the tea taste doesn''t linger when I''m going to brew coffee.

Now, this coffee maker seems pretty solid. However, any appliance can break early, and since I''ve only had this coffee maker over a month, I can''t say how long these things last. But I''ve had no problems so far, and I recommend this coffee maker.

02/25/2013 Hard to believe this little coffee maker has been with me for over five years now. It''s been through a move to my offsight office and back to my main office. The clock still keeps excellent time. The only thing to report is that the little tab inside that holds the lid down is starting to wear out. I just put my mug on the top while it''s brewing coffee (so the steam doesn''t escape) and keep on rolling. Best money I''ve ever spent on a coffee maker. I think it deserves six stars (the extra star for reliability and longevity).

09/02/2010 Two year follow-up and the DRX5 is still working great. The clock gains maybe a minute per year if that. This is the best small coffee maker I''ve ever owned and has led to several other people in my office purchasing like model.

09/07/2008 I''ve been using my Mr. Coffee DRX5 coffee maker for eight months now and I really like it. I wanted a small coffee maker for my desk at work and this one has really fit the bill. It has a very small footprint so it works great on my desk, it has not leaked a drop which is also good, and it makes pretty good coffee. (I use a heaping 2 tablespoon scoop for four cups.) I chose the black color so it doesn''t show the stains. The unit has a removable filter basket so I don''t spill grounds when emptying and the water level sight "glass" (which is plastic) is really handy since I fill it out of a water bottle rather than using the carafe. The clock is a great feature as I don''t have one at my desk. (I notice that others have mentioned having problems with the clock but mine works just fine.) The output when I make a full pot fills my coffee cup about twice which I find is about the right amount of coffee for me.

I only have minor complains. You have to pour slowly so the carafe doesn''t spill and one hour shut off doesn''t give me enough time. (Some mornings I make coffee at 6:30 and don''t have a chance to touch it until after 8:00.) You can hit start again and it will warm up the carafe.

Overall, this is a great little unit and it has inspired others in my office to purchase this model as well. Making my own coffee is much cheaper than paying a $1.00 for a 16 oz. cup in the cafeteria and I love the smell when the coffee is brewing. Having this unit allows me to drink the specialized coffee I prefer. The small size means making a second pot isn''t so much of a chore on those days when one pot isn''t going to cut it. I recommend the Mr. Coffee DRX5 to people who like fresh coffee with a minimum of fuss, either at home or at work.

We all know that too much coffee is terrible for the body in several ways. So, instead of using the 12-cup coffee maker, we decided to go with a smaller one to force me to drink less coffee. I love this product for a number of reasons.

Pros:

Perfect size for a single coffee drinker.

Timer is great. Every other 4-cup maker that I found were switch based without a timer setting. Timer settings are really helpful when you want to just get your coffee and go.

Easy to clean. This product has a removeable filter cup for easy cleaning. Also, the auto-pause in brewing is helpful to both allow for quick removal and less spilling.

Cons:

It takes a little longer to brew 4 cups with this maker as it does in a larger maker. This may simply be due to the size of the product.

Summary:

I really like this product. It makes coffee perfectly. It is compact and takes up very little space. It is perfect for my coffee needs.

Read Best Reviews of Mr. Coffee Programmable Coffeemakers Here

If you are an infrequent coffee drinker, this coffee maker is a real bargain. At 20 bucks a pop, this is a cheap appliance that looks nice and makes great hot coffee.

Even if you are not a coffee drinker, this is smart choice for those who host an occassional guest or two. It takes up little space on the counter and looks nice considering how inexpensive it is. I''ve noticed no problems with the clock keeping accurate time.

Cons:

1. Seems to take almost as long to brew as most larger capacity coffee makers. About 4 minutes.

2. The filters are hard to come by but are available on the Internet. Suggestion: purchase 1 or 2 permanent filters and your set.

3. This "4 cup" maker will produce 2.5 fluid cups of coffee. This equates to about 3-4 "small" coffee cupsor 1.5 jumbo coffee cups.

4. You may get addicted to coffee once you try itand then you will long for a larger capacity maker!

Want Mr. Coffee Programmable Coffeemakers Discount?

My large coffee maker started to go bad (I thought) & being single, I thought a 4 cup machine would be perfect. After I ordered it I saw reviews saying it was "not a 4 cup", coffee "tasted like plastic", & filters were hard to find. I tried to cancel but it was too late--& I''m glad I couldn''t! Yes, it''s not what most of us would call 4 cups, unless you consider 5 oz. to be a cup. It makes 2 large cups or 3 more average size cups.

I don''t know how people say the coffee has a plastic taste. Maybe they did not follow instructions to run it through a few brew cycles before using. I did like I normally do to clean a pot & ran it with some vinegar the 1st cycle--then clear water for a few more cycles. I get no hint at all of any plastic taste.

Filters that fit perfectly are easy to find & cheap. I buy "Brew Rite" filters that are made for 1-4 cup machines at a local chain drug store; 200 filters for $1.59. I''m sure they''d be even cheaper at larger discount stores. Just google "brew rite" to check them out.

I only have a couple issues with the machine. 1)I have to hold the lid up, it just won''t seem to stay up on its own. Makes it a little hard to fill. 2) it''s a little hard to find the correct angle to fill it, using the carafe. The reservoir is just so little.

Summing up, I think it''s a very good choice for someone who wants just a couple of cups of good hot coffee. I dropped it to 4 stars because, IMO, Mr Coffee should NOT label & advertise it as a 4 cup machine.

Since you will also have to buy filter replacement cartridges from Crystal Quest for the life of the product, consider my review before buying.

Given the choice, I would not buy a Crystal Quest product again. This is due to the fact their Customer Service is terrible! (So is their Shipping Dep''t and Quality control in my case kind of scary!) I bought a similar product from them and it was missing parts. I called them and what followed is my worst customer service experience ever. They continuously reneged on promises made to me (several times), giving excuses when I called in (and I had to follow up myself EVERY time) such as "I asked so and so to call you" or "I was overruled by another dep''t".

I am not alone read other reviews for Crystal Quest products.

UPDATE: I ordered a water testing kit online to test the floride, chlorine, etc content of the undersink water filtering kit and cartridge I had received. Multiple tests (even at super low flow rates) revealed it DID NOT FILTER CHLORINE! (It left .25-.50 ppm of chlorine the same as our tap water results.) Tests on my Brita filter DID filter all chlorine. So, I called customer service to explain and they kindly mailed me another filter same result! I have sent back everything for a refund, since it does not work as intended. Who monitors these water filtering companies? I will be ordering now from a (hopefully) real water filtering company. I hope I have saved someone else the trouble of having to installing this product only to have to return it.

I must have gotten a bad one as it made the water taste so bitter I had to take it off to get water I could drink. i called the seller and they were so nice and thanked me for the feedback. i then called Quest and told them my problem and the sold me 2 more filters for $19.00 but said they had to be custom made. I hope the new ones work better as no other filter has ever made the water taste worse. Even the cheapest did not do that.

No other filter claims to do 2000 gals. like quest so I hope the new filters work as they are cheaper and say they clean 4 times more water than any other facet filter. I''ll make a follow up comment if the new filters work. It''s the best deal but so far the worst deal for me.

I used this faucet mount before. I said it did a decent job if you have OK city water, and just want some extra protection. If you''re in old homes with old iorn pipes or very bad water sources, forget it. Faucet mount or pitcher filters are mostly made of granulated activated carbon, it''s OK to remove cyst, but it doesn''t do much in removing salts and metals.

I have moved onto reverse osmosis already. Good luck, guys.

I used the PUR version for about 2 years. Filter cartridge needed frequent replacement (about every 6 weeks) and was expensive. Tried DUPONT version for a few months. Filters were cheaper but only lasted about 3 weeks. Water flow with both brands was slooow. Found CRYSTAL QUEST on line. Ordered it. First 2 were defective but CQ was very nice and shipped replacements quickly. I have now had it for 7 months. We like it. It was a tremendous improvement over our first two. Replaced first filter about a month ago. Water flow is a great improvement over the prior 2 brands. Now we are updating our kitchen and we are upgrading to a under sink CRYSTAL QUEST water filter system.

I purchased this filter (not from this seller) and it did not filter out the slightest bit of chlorine taste which is the least I expect it to do. I thought I may have had a defective unit but I am seeing that other reviewers have had the same experience. Another reviewer claims to have tested the water and it showed no reduction of chlorine. I think this company is selling filters that don''t work. Faucet mounted filters will result in a slower flow compared to a filterless faucet. It''s just common sense that if the water is coming out of your faucet as fast as before you installed the filter it''s not working! Switched to Culligan which works great. Seychelle pitchers also work great. Stay away from this product.

Let me start off by saying I hate the taste of municipal water. The chlorine and other tastes make in virtually undrinkable. That''s where this filter comes in.

For me, the bad news is that I can''t stand forking voer $40 to Sears for the privelige of screwing one of these into the filter port of my refrigerator. In my area, these filters are for some reason difficult to find in Big Box stores. I am not sure why. I have taken a chance before on no-name, unbranded filters from the internet and had good results. However, when I saw these OEM filters at a competitive price, I jumped and have not been disappointed. The water that is filtered through them tastes good (no chlorine or mineral tastes) and there are no leaks--they do precisely what inline water filters are supposed to do.

Buy the filters, be happy, and drink lots of water.

Purenex Nickel Countertop Water FilterI''m not quite sure how this thing works, but it does. Easy install of the diverter from the faucet with no leaks. After a few weeks of running it, it lost any unpleasant taste and was producing pretty good water. A big plus here is flow rate. The filtered water comes out fast -you can fill a bottle in seconds. This is a key advantage for me. Even the regular tap (unfiltered) comes through pretty fast.

So what are the down sides? I can''t quite come to terms with a filter that only needs to be changed once a year. Doesn''t all that standing around in water produce bad stuff (who knows what bacteria?) This is just a worry. Nothing specific.

Second, the "burn in" period for the filter lasts a while. My wife wouldn''t drink the water for a week to two weeks. Granted, she''s very picky when it comes to water, but then we should be! It did take a few weeks for the bad taste to go away. When it came time to replace the filter for me, I didn''t really want to go through another 2 weeks of flushing the filter.

More important, if you do get this filter, then be sure you keep the widget they send to help you open the filter case to change the filter very carefully (sort of looks like a screw driver with out the bit at the end). I lost this and didn''t succeed in using anything else in its place.

More recently, I bought a WaterChef C7000 Premium Countertop Water Filter, and would have to conclude it is better in every way, but one -price (twice as expensive... ouch). That filter started tasting fine after 15 minutes of flushing. The filter is rated at 3 microns rather than 5 for the Purenex. There is a use-based light that tells you when to change the filter. The diverter valve automatically reverts to tap water after use (a very handy feature). The unit itself is better designed so you can place it to the right or left of your faucet (the hose enters at the base from either direction). The downside of the WaterChef is that it is twice as expensive. But having owned both, I think it''s worth the price. In the theory the filter lasts almost twice as long, but more importantly the water out tasting better.

So far I''m sold on the WaterChef and would avoid the Purenex. Having said that taste is very personal, so this one might work for you.

Saeco Odea Giro Plus Fully Automatic Espresso Machine Save 28% Off

Saeco Odea Giro Plus Fully Automatic Espresso MachineI purchased this machine on the "whole latte love" website. It took a week to arrive via ups ground. Upon arrival it was 100% dead. as soon as you turn it on the alarm light turns on and the machine does not do anything. also the optional filter was missing as well. I called the seller that told me to call Saeco, this is their agreement. I called Saeco (Philips) that issued me a promise for replacement

I received this replacement within less then a week, which is great. Initially they "promised" 10-14 days, but changed that after long phone discussions. the second machine arrived and turned on as promised. It made 5 great espresso shots and after the 5th shot the alarm light turned on (again). Nothing helped besides resetting the machine. Every 3-5 cups I need to reset it for the same reasons. The resetting itself takes about 30-40 seconds, but it is pretty unpleasant to need to do this all the time.

In summary, although it makes a good espresso shot and despite good foaming, I would not buy this one again. I think a machine that needs to be re-set every few cups is pretty unreliable.

Also I tried to publish a negative review about it on the wholelatte art website but they did not publish it. i think they filter negative feedbacks so whatever you read there is most likely unreliable as well.

After owning the Saeco Giro Plus for about a month, here are my observations

Pros:

Great tasting coffee! Very strong without tasting bitter. Rich creme.

Affordable price. Paid $400 from a "club" store.

Relatively quiet compared to my sister''s super-automatic Krups.

Cons:

After installing the water filter, the water storage is pretty low, 3 cups of Americano at most.

Machine is very finicky (will go more in detail later)

The "cup warmer" feature is a joke, only thing it can warm are ice cubes.

Here''s a list of stuff that might cause the warning light to go off.

Solid Warning Light:

Steam knob not turned all the way off (need to click in place)

Water is low (20% full is still considered low, sensor goes by weight it seems)

Drip tray is full

Slow Blinking Warning Light:

Brew group not inserted properly (DON''T hold the Push button when inserting, it should click in)

Grounds bin not inserted (the sensor is finicky, sometimes you need to pull out and push in again)

Fast Blinking Warning Light (hot water dispensing light will also be on):

Machine needs to be primed (while the hot water dispensing light is on turn the steam knob on till the red light goes away)

Don''t forget to rinse the brew unit in hot water (no soap) once a week. This will prevent build up of oils and sludge.

This is a review by a Coffee Fanatic who has owned several machines, including the $8000 industrial version. I had the Vienna Plus for 8 months and decided to give that away to get the Odea Go. It does not matter which model you get, all the Odeas have the same BMW mechanics and design. All work the same way. So I''ll give a comparison for your own judgement.

The Vienna Plus had more water in the dredge drawer.. so much that I first thought the machine was leaking!! Found out that IS the way the machine works.. But the machine was bigger than the Odea, so it had room. I had to clean it out every 6-8 cups made.

The Vienna also allowed me to see the water level, so it was easy to refill.

Now for the ODEA:

Doesn''t matter which model Odea you get, they''re the same build. I was impressed by the BMW-designed mechanics, so I bought it for the sleeker look. Smaller unti fitted well on the small kitchen counter I have.

MAKES STRONGER COFFEE than other models of Saeco that I''ve tried/borrowed/owned/tasted. It''s able to extract more flavor.

PROBLEMS:

1. The water container is smaller than the Vienna. And the tank is hidden, so you can NOT see when it''s time to refill. YOU MUST refill before it''s down to 2 cups left, because the light weight will make the sensor stop working. The sensor is not by water, but by weight of water!

2. The coffee lid can''t be opened while the machine is ON. The other models can. This is weird.. because I used to be able to refill the Vienna while it''s brewing.

3. The dredge drawer needs to be emptied for every 3-4 cups of coffee brewed!! Though it''s not really full, the sensor will not let you brew coffee with water in this drawer!! So you will end up cleaning this every 4 cups max.

4. The drawer can''t be seen, the spills can''t be seen, because of the sleek design, everything is covered. And everything is BLACK, so you can''t see whether you''ve cleaned it very well. Coffee grinds may be hidden in places you can''t see... all gray and black plastic!!

WHEN MY NEW MACHINE WAS 5 WEEKS OLD, THE 3 RED LIGHTS FLASHED QUICKLY which means electrical problems. Turning it off and on did not help. Calling the manufacturer, diagnosed over the phone, and ended up to have to replace it with a new one. IT SIMPLY STOPPED WORKING.

Making the story short: I am now on my third Odea -only because they won''t let me get a different one even if I offered additional money to upgrade. And I''m not about to waste over $600 for a couple of months'' use.

I have tried quite a few machines. This is by far my favorite. Every shot is perfect and the crema is gorgeous too. The panarella wand makes perfect froth of microscopic bubbles. I am a latte fanatic and my lattes are gorgeous. When I was researching this machine, I came across a youtube video of a woman that was comparing frothing and showing how to do it on this machine, and basically saying that this machine sucks. She is an idiot. She seriously does not know how to froth milk with a home machine. Maybe her method (no skill whatsoever) works on an industrial machine. Anyway, don''t pay attention to her if you come across that video. The reason I didn''t give her or any of the negative reviews too much credit is because my sister, who is a personal chef, swears by her Saeco, so I just trusted her. I am really glad I did. A couple of my friends have also bought Saeco machines after using mine. I so prefer my Saeco to the high-end machine we have at work. The shot the other one produces is just as good, but the frothing on the Saeco is substantially superior.

So, a few notes: Yes, the machine is a bit finicky. You do learn quickly what the lights mean when they blink or hold solid or whatever. It takes a bit of just looking up the error message and fixing the issue. The issue is never a big deal. Just clean the dreg container or provide more water (it has a kind of small receptacle). Or, fill up the coffee bean container. But, you have to do stuff like that with every machine, unless you spend $$s to hook one up to a water line or whatever.

Anyway, I have had really good luck with my machine and I would buy another one. And, if it does break down, I would take the effort to find a shop to repair it. I did accidentally drop my panarella wand into the disposal and wrecked it. I called the company and they worked with me to get me the right part for a decent price. Good luck with your decision!!

Well, I finally dumped my $2000 Livia 90 after having this unit in place for a few weeks. My wife just hated the Espresso mess of the big machine and grinder (I never cleaned up). This system is fully contained, no mess at all, and it makes a GREAT Espresso. Don''t miss the Livia 90 at all.

You will not be disappointed, but definitively opt for the GIRO over the GO and get the OptiDose selectable Espresso Dose, it makes a difference to get the ''pull'' YOU like. Adding to the selection of volume on the front knob, is a single, double, triple doser selection adjusting 5-10grams of grinds.

Waterwise Kleenwise Descaler - Water Mineral Remover Save 17% Off

Waterwise Kleenwise Descaler - Water Mineral RemoverAnother equally effective and less expensive method is to use vinegar.

Mix about 6 ounces of the cheapest stores brand of vinegar with water and fill to the top line. Cover the distiller base unit with a large lid and allow to sit for about 12 hours. Then pour out the solution and use a scouring pad with a little water. Presto!

I have found that plugging in the distiller for 10 minutes to heat the vinegar solution with the lid on, then unplug and allow to sit seems to speed up the process.

I use one teaspoon of this product in my distiller every day. With a little warm water, I let it sit for about 10 min and the residue cleans right off.

Shipped & delivered quickly! Highly recommend this.

I have used this product and I bought my original container at the time I purchased my Waterwise distiller. Frankly I paid less for it then Amazon charges. In any event, it seems to work fine, although it''s still not real clear to me how to get the scale off the inside of the lid, when the instructions warn against filling the boiler pot over the "max" line. The water obviously splatters up there, so that tends to make cleaning the lid difficult. Oh well.

We make a lot of distilled water in my household and coupled with living in Arizona where the water is really saturated with minerals I have to descale the distiller often. I bought this product and others like it labeled for distillers. After spending too much money on these specialty mineral removers I researched the key ingredients and I''ve found that pure citric acid works as well and is much lower priced. After looking around on the internet I found the best price for citric acid on Amazon.

Not much to say about this product except that it works well to remove lime and other impurities left over from boiling water. I found that it works best if I boil this solution in water for about 20 minutes and then wash the base in the dishwasher. Just using the solution and letting it cool will leave a white film. Make sure electrical sockets are completely dry before plugging the base in and using it.

I don''t know what it is about this product, but it just does not hold up at all. Actually, I do know what it is: cheaply made.

When it works, it works great. There is nothing like having fresh water at the tap without having to refill a pitcher every day. But it won''t take long for you to realize that this device isn''t made for the long term.

Within months of owning small leaks start to occur around the device. Shortly after those appear, the leaks worsen and will actually run into the water you are wanting to filter.

After spending over $100 on 3 replacements and how ever many replacement filters, I have learned my lesson the hard way on this product.

You really do get what you pay for in this product.

The plastic connector to the faucet is weak. It lost tightness within 3 months and started leaking. When I tried to tighten it, the internal plastic connector broke completely. Turns out there are only 2 small pieces of plastic connecting the two. Very bad engineering. Try something else.

I''m convenience-oriented. Having upgraded from the Brita pitcher, to the multi-gallon unit, and then getting the Faucet Filter I was excited for an improved Brita medium. Finally! No more soaking the filters, washing the container, refilling the container. Xanadu had arrived. The Faucet Filter worked superbly for 3 weeks, and then without warning its flow rate dropped to 1/10th the speed of a meandering trickle in January going uphill with a wind in its face. And yet the little green blinker indicated everything was a-ok. What I call the "Automated Water Filter Useless Light", or AWFUL, showed thumbs-up. So I timed it, because I am a [curious person] who does things like quantify product dissatisfaction. From the 2-gallon Brita UltraMax dispenser it took 32 seconds of joy to fill a 1 quart container to the brim. Yet, the same size jug from the faucet Brita took 2 minutes, 3 seconds. When you watch a tablespoon or cup of water drip to completeness it is as if your life is wasting before your eyes.

Using this product is not unlike being stuck in gridlock, only less pleasurable.

I bought this filter because I was tired of having tons of plastic water bottles to recycle(not to mention the environmental effects of buying bottled water). Within 2 days the filter fell right off of the tap while in use, I re-fastened it and it kept falling off. Eventually the plastic threaded fastener became completely stripped and the filter would no longer fasten on at all. At this point I sent an angry email to Brita and began to dwell on 30.00 wasted(I''m a student..). BUT I decided to see if I could find a replacement fastener piece at the hardware store, I found a QUALITY metal one(2.00) that was the same size as the cheaply made plastic original. Put the filter back on using the new metal fastener and it hasn''t leaked or fallen off since and it''s been about 3 months. Long story short...IF YOU BUY THIS FILTER INVEST IN A 2 DOLLAR METAL THREADED FASTENER, WHICH ANY HARDWARE STORE HAS IN THE PLUMBING DEPARTMENT.

I''m so p... angry at this faucet I made a video to show how awful it is. I''ve had several over the years and they keep breaking for no apparent reason. When I bought the first one, I was worried about not being able to replace the battery. Not to worry, because they won''t even last long enough for the battery to wear out! You can''t even take it apart to fix it. I swore I would never buy this brand again. It is poorly constructed with cheap plastic. Instead, I bought the Culligan faucet filter. On the plus side, the water does taste good.

Toastess DLJK459 Delfino Stainless Steel Cordless Kettle Save 35% Off

Toastess DLJK459 Delfino Stainless Steel Cordless KettleEXPERIENCE: WOW, that''s all I can say, seriously though, this is a top of the line electric tea kettle. First of all, I love stainless steel, as it looks nice, and is also functional in that it won''t rust. Using this kettle couldn''t be any easier, let me explain why. The kettle is cordless, in that you can separate it away from the power base. This allows you to easily fill it in the sink, and there is a reservoir window, located near the handle, to show you the level of water. It can boil between 0.5L all the way up to 1.8L of water.

All I had to do is press the button on the top of the handle, which released the fill door on the top of the kettle, I then filled it up to the 1.0L mark. What is nice about this kettle is, that it has a filter in the pour spout. Now all I have to do is place the kettle back onto the power base, it can go on it any which way, since it''s a 360 degree connection. Then all I have to do is press down on the power switch, located towards the bottom of the handle. Another nice feature is that the kettle, when turned on, will illuminate the reservoir window, so you can see how much water is still left in the kettle.

It will boil 0.5L of water in about 1:30-minute, 1.0L in about 2:30-minutes, 1.5L in about 4:30-minutes, and 1.8L in about 6:30-minutes. I don''t know about you, but I think that''s pretty fast! Think about it, a normal tea pot, fully filled, on your stove, will take about 10-minutes minimum to reach boiling point on the "HIGH" stove setting, and possibly even longer. It will take your microwave at least 3-minutes to boil 1-cup of water, and at least 6 or 7 minutes to boil 2-cups. Yes, I think the Delfino electric kettle wins the race!

The kettle contains a concealed element, which I believe to be a safer rout, and it allows for easier cleaning, as opposed to older kettle models. The kettle comes with built in safety features as well. It doesn''t matter how much water you put into the kettle, when it reaches boiling point, it automatically shuts off. And whenever you take the kettle off of the power base, it also automatically shuts off.

CONCLUSION: I never used to be into electric kettles in the past, I thought they were not necessary. But this stainless steel Delfino kettle from Toastess, has made me a believer. Its safer to use, faster to use, and easier to use, what more could you want? Its list price is for $52.00 dollars. I highly recommend this electric kettle, 5-stars!

I already had an Aroma AWK-115S Hot H20 X-Press 1-1/2-Liter Cordless Water Kettle at home and liked it a lot. When I needed another kettle for the office, this Toastess just happened to be on sale. Even though the sale price was still above Aroma''s regular one, I was curious to find out whether the big price difference was justified.

It was not. The two kettles are similar in construction and identical in function. In fact, this Toastess is a little slower than the Aroma, which is no speed demon itself. The seat of the Toastess is also a little wobbly. The auto-shutoff switch is too quick to trigger, and the water would boil for just 2 seconds, not enough time, in my opinion to kill all the germs. In all, I would definitely go with the Aroma even if the two are priced the same.

Bought this kettle for my parents as a Christmas present. We''ve been using it several times a day for two weeks and it has worked beautifully. Looks great on the counter and boils water amazingly quickly. It''s a bit noisy when it''s heating the water, but it boils so quickly that the sound isn''t even a problem. Cordless and auto-off features are great. Better than the other electric kettle I have at home. Would definitely recommend!

I order one it worked great, then within a week, I see a puddle of water around the kettle, and between the kettle and the base. Find that it is leaking at the seam below the name. Return to Amazon (easy). New one arrives, and within a week, I can see the water marks on the base, and water seeping out the seam on this one too.

Now we choose to keep it, it does work well, and holds lots of water.

DO NOT STORE WATER IN IT for any length of time.

I bought the kettle for my brother who is a big tea drinker after I received my first elecric tea kettle from my daughter and just loved it. He has nothing but praise for this kettle. He says the kettle size and cord length are perfect and the automatic shut off, the best feature, has worked every time. We don''t know why it took us so long to find these kettles as we have burned up some expensive stovetop tea kettles and pots over the years. I have a Utilitea variable temperature kettle which seems to be "out of stock" since Christmas time but I have not brewed any tea which requries a lower temperature. My only complaint with these kettles is that the water level viewer is made of plastic so when heated you are drinking the poisons from the plastic. Glass should be used. To limit my exposure, I fill my kettle just for 1 cup of tea so the water barely reaches the plastic.

PUR WATER 2 Stage Premium Water Filter

PUR WATER 2 Stage Premium Water FilterI have a refridgerator pitcher that I use quite frequently. I refuse to boil water just to get the yuck out, so I double filter my water. First I use a Brita pitcher, don''t hate me. I got this one because I can leave it out on the counter and fills quickly. Then when that pitcher is full, I dump it into my Pur, which is in the fridge. This one takes longer, so I have plenty of time to make some more water cleaner. I love my Pur more than anything. I used to keep it in my fridge in the bedroom and that''s when I drank a lot of water.

The actual box the filter came in , had the top ripped completely off and was put into the mailing package that way. A sealed product (box and plastic packaging) is always the best and Idea way to receive a product. However, since the actual plastic packaging the filter was wrapped inside had not been tampered with, the product was used.
