Clear2o CWS100AW Water Filtration Pitcher Save 15% Off

Clear2o CWS100AW Water Filtration PitcherI mainly bought this to filter water for making coffee and tea. The difference between water filtered by this pitcher and water straight from the tap is phenomenal. I admit it, I''m a coffee and tea geek. This is exactly what I needed. Friends and family have commented on how my coffee and tea taste much better than the one they make at home.

I looked at all the competitors such as Brita, PUR and about a dozen other less known brands that have solid reviews. Unfortunately most only filter to make water taste a little better and don''t filter for other impurities. Those that do are either really expensive or not available to me, in Canada. Fortunately I found this at a major retail chain.

I drink a lot of water so my pitcher has to filter taste and impurities. On top of this, the filters better last more than just a couple of weeks. I refill this pitcher at least once a day and so far I''m still on my first filter after nearly two months of use. Great!

A few things you should know if you intend to buy this:

This pitcher connects via a hose attachment to your faucet. You will have to put a small adapter (several sizes included in the package) to your faucet. When the pitcher is connected, open the tap SLOWLY. Your pitcher is made of plastic, not high gauge steel. If you subject it to high pressure, it will most certainly leak. Still it only takes 30-60 seconds to fill which is lightning quick compared to a Brita.

We purchased this water filter because the pitcher was to fill fast and the number of impurities it took out was provably more than any other commonly available pitcher system.

The unit definitely fills faster than Brita or PUR pitchers do. However, it makes a terrible, loud, higher-pitched gear grinding sound as it does so. It''s not bad enough to wear ear protection, but you will have problems understanding someone in the room until you stop. Fortunately, it is less than a minute before it is filled.

Filtered water definitely tastes "cleaner." However, this taste is not as desirable as water filtered from the Brita pitcher would taste. Where the Brita might make water taste more like crude Dasani, Clear2O makes the water taste more like distilled water. I guess that is the price you pay for having 44+ contaminants removed (NSF verified) to 95+% efficiency (most are 99.9%+). The solid block carbon filter does a great job of making water taste plain. Unfortunately, this does highlight why an ion-exchange system such as Brita''s can make more poorly filtered water taste better. For us, we''ve finally adjusted to the "cleaner" taste.

As for function, our pitcher came with a permanent leak and small slits that cause water to go back into the pitcher after being filtered, in a way that can allow contamination from the area under the lid to drip into the reservoir. Basically, water comes in from the tap and is injected into the area to which one side of the carbon is exposed. The water passes through the solid carbon, then flows up the filter and out through the filter''s plastic canal, which meets with an open area with which the water then flows back down into the "cleaned" water area. However, the mating area where filtered water meets the pitcher (in the top handle of the filter itself) cannot fully seal. When we open the lid while filtering, visible water currents form at that area and this water drips down into clean water through small fissures. We''ve tested it with just pouring water into that general area, and the water quickly goes unfiltered into the pitcher, even with the filter seemingly blocking such access.

This was only something I tracked down once I started seeing occasional translucent floaters wafting around in the pitcher water when held up to the light. Whether the "floaters" are bacterial films, thin plastic or something else, I do not know. (I seem to guarantee their existence when refilling the pitcher when it is still half full, doing so for about a week, leaving the pitcher at room temperature.)

Clear2O appears to do a solid job of removing contaminants, but it appears to allow recontamination to a small extent. If this does not bother you for your application, this pitcher is for you.

UPDATE: The Clear2O website suggests cleaning the unit with vinegar, which would kill some bacteria. In my estimation, the floaters appear to be a harmless bacterial film that settles on the bottom of the pitcher after a while. Shaking the pitcher disturbs this film, creating the floaters noticed.

I''ve noticed cleaning the pitcher every so often with vinegar assures the floaters won''t appear.

The Clear2O pitcher offers one key advantage over the Brita pitches it''s fast! Rather than pour water into the pitcher and wait for it to pass through the filter, the Clear2O comes with a hose that you attach to your faucet that allows it to fill much quicker (I''d estimate about 30 seconds).

Installation is straightforward. You have to remove the aerator from the faucet and replace it with an adapter that comes with the pitcher. The hose (which is attached to the pitcher) then clicks onto the adapter. They provide two different screw-in adapters so it will work with pretty much any faucet. Also include the washers so you have everything needed.

The hose clicks on tightly with a positive locking mechanism to prevent leaks or having the hose blow off from the water pressure. But, this introduces a problem since you have to remove the aerator, the faucet flow rate may increase, potentially increasing water use (many aeriators also function as a flow restrictor to conserve water). Now, the adapter includes an aeriator so there is some flow restriction but, on my faucet, the flow rate went up since my old aeriator had a lower flow rate.

Plus, the adapter is not what you''d call sleek-looking. It extends about 1.5 inches from the end of the faucet and is chrome colored. No, it''s not horrible looking, but if you''re particular about how your faucet looks you may not be happy with this.

A better approach would be to have a diverter valve that you screw into the faucet. But, that would raise the cost.

My other quibble is that the hose is rather short. Depending on your faucet and sink style, you may have to contort a bit to get everything hooked up.

The filters are rated for more gallons than the Brita filters. But, unlike the Brita filters which you can get faily cheap in bulk at warehouse clubs, these filters are not widly avaialble, which keeps the price up.

Bottom line if you get annoyed at the slow speed of filtering water in a Brita pitcher, this is well worth a look. There are some downsides, however, making this an average value (probably 3.5 stars is more accurate, but I''ll round down to 3).

I was interested in buying this product also because of the Consumer Reports recommendation, but thanks to other Amazon reviewers, I was concerned about the lack of NSF Certification. I called Applica/Clear 2O & was informed that they''re no longer producing filters for this product, so they didn''t renew their certification. In other words, when existing stock runs out, there will be no more replacement filters available.

First, If you happen to check some of my recent reviews you may see a bunch of 5 star reviews. Believe me I''m hyper critical of items I buy, BUT "I research these items to death" and luckily most of the time I get the best one...at least for me. So now to the review.

I have been using Pur Filter Pitchers for years. Water always tasted great from Pur, BUT they ALWAYS clogged BADLY after minimal use. My latest Pur Pitcher after about 5 weeks of use would take almost 3 hours for the water to finally fully filter thru..that''s nuts! This time I checked Consumer Reports..and found this Clear2o rated #2 by a point or 2 next to a $100-ish pitcher. Pur and Brita were at least 30-40 points DOWN from THIS Clear2o. Turns out Consumer Reports seems to have gotten this one right. WOW, after about 60 seconds..you have great tasting water totally filtered and ready to use, I think NINE cups!. As the Clear2o uses pressure from your faucet..even at the end of the filter''s life span you can still expect a full pitcher of filtered water in 60 seconds or less. Compare THAT to 3 or more hours on a Pur. The filter has an indicator of green, orange, and red, so you will KNOW when it''s time to change the filer, no more guessing!

Consumer reports also says the Clear2o filters yearly cost are about 1/2 of Pur...not sure about Brita. The Clear2o most importantly supposedly is a BETTER filter than Pur and Brita as to what it will filter out. So you get super fast filtering that is superior to Brita and Pur and it will never slow down till you replace the filter.

My only criticism is the tube that attaches to he faucet is a bit short and not so soft as others mentioned. My first time attaching it, the pitcher tipped over, actually twice. But after a couple tries you get used to how to connect the tube...and I have to say it''s actually fun to fill this thing! :) One other thing that you may or may not like..the spout on the Clear2o is rather wide..so water comes out FAST. Once you know this, it''s fine..but you have to be a little more careful when pouring from this pitcher if you don''t want to overfill your glass..etc.

All in all I am REALLY impressed with this Filtering system. Worst part is trying to FIND it in stores. I finally found mine in a Walmart..was about $11 on sale..a 3 pac of filters were $25 there.

This company Applica? Seems to be involved with some huge companies such as Black and Decker so I feel rather confident they will be around a long time, and hopefully the filters, pitchers, will be easier to find locally..even on Amazon.

I think you are going to LOVE this thing!!

Cuisinart GF-80 Cleanwater Countertop Replacement Filter, WhiteI have had my 1.5 gallon Cuisinart Cleanwater Countertop Filtration Machine about 1 and a half years now. I can only find the filters on Amazon.com, but it is fine because Amazon has the most excellent customer service I have ever encountered. Graco Humidifier Replacement Filter for 4.0 Gallon Save 43% Off

Graco Humidifier Replacement Filter for 4.0 Gallonas others have pointed out, this filter is absolutely horrible. the hamilton beach (blue) filter lasted easily 4 months with proper care (i have been using this humidifier model for 10 years), and its structural integrity was not the reason i finally had to replace. the "new" graco filter starts falling apart big-time as soon as it first gets wet. do not buy. i notice that hamilton beach still sells the filter this "replaces," and am going to see if it is the original design. shame shame graco.

I cleaned the unit (Graco 4-gallon cool mist) every day and filled it with water run through a very good quality countertop filter. Even doing this, I went through two of these $11 filters per WEEK (TWENTY-FOUR TIMES as many filters as stated by the manufacturer!), and simply couldn''t afford to spend nearly $90 a month (just in filters!) to run a humidifier. That is, putting it simply, absolutely insane. Design is faulty -filtered water shouldn''t trash a brand-new filter in less than four days. I don''t know anyone who could afford $90 a month for humidifier filters.

We''ve been very pleased with this humidifier, but find the replacement filters a little costly considering how often we replace them. It''s worth it though for how happy we''ve been with the product.

Not sure what''s going on with particular brand of replacement filter... I run my Graco Humidifier about 9hrs at a time and the level of water consumed from the tank is not noticeable I''m talking day 1 out of the box. With the other filters I have used (not the one I am reviewing), I would easily go through almost an entire tank. I won''t be buying this brand again.

We bought this Graco cool mist humidifier because it is supposed to be safer for homes with young children. It works well and I like the dial on the front to adjust the humidity. But the filters fall apart very fast. I clean the unit everyday when in use and the filters just can''t take that. They are expensive to replace. Going to look for an alternative.

The product looks fine but I give up. This is the 2nd LW24 I bought. I have Asthma and really need a good Air Washer to improve my daily life, a friend recommended this brand, he has a LW14 & likes it.

After step by step setup the 1st one, everything checked fine, turned on the power, green light on & I can see the fan was moving, at once, the red light on too, fan stoped at once too. I read the user manual again & again, it is a simple designed machine, not rocket science, what could be wrong? It was Friday night, I could not get their technical support so I sent an email to them, they replied fast, but telling me they could do nothing, best way is return the merchandise.

As I said I need it badly, so I ordered the 2nd one, I thought the "Made in Germany" should not be that bad. I got it Friday again. This time I did the setup even more carefully, since I have the 1st time experience already, but the exact same problem happened again. What could be wrong? Anyone could help me before I return it again?

Berkey Light with 2 Black Filters and 2 PF-2 Fluoride Filters Save 14% Off

Berkey Light with 2 Black Filters and 2 PF-2 Fluoride FiltersI question where some of these reviewers got their information about performance tests. Check out .

On one of the tabs you''ll find analysis results.

The FAQ page says: "There are simply too many varieties of pharmaceuticals that could end up in drinking water. By too many I mean it is impossible to test for them all. However, we do know from testing, that the purification process used by the Black Berkey elements remove more pollutants than any other system available on the market today." It also describes a test you can do by adding red food coloring to the water to be sure the filter is working. Any filter that will remove red food coloring has to be pretty effective.

Regarding the high TDS rate one reviewer mentions, the FAQ page says, "Berkey purification systems do not remove the beneficial minerals from the water but they do extract harmful heavy metals such as lead and mercury as well as sedimentary minerals such as iron oxide. Therefore, the TDS (total dissolved solids) reading will not typically change much unless there are a lot of heavy metals or sedimentary minerals in the source water."

About viruses, the FAQ page says: "Berkey is the original North American distributor for British Berkefeld, a company who makes the finest ceramic water filter available. These ceramic filters are excelent at removing harmful bacteria from sediment heavy, contaminated drinking water. It soon became clear to Berkey that a more powerful filter was needed, one that not only removed bacteria but was also in addition able to remove chemicals, viruses, heavy metals fertilizers and a long list of additional contaminants from your drinking water. After many years of research Berkey developed the Black Berkey purification element. This filter gives you all of the benifits of the ceramic filter with the added abilities mentioned above. Black Berkey purification element signifigantly raised the bar to a level that no other gravity flow water filters are curently able to attain."

These filters are used all over the world by aid agencies. You won''t find any filter on the market that will purify better. Certainly not simple charcoal filters like Pur. On this page: it explains that a water filter has to remove 99.99% of pathogenic bacteria. To be sold as a "purifier" it has to remove 99.9999%. "All Berkey systems that contain the Black Berkey elements are classified as water purifiers. In fact Berkey Water Purifiers remove 99.9999999% (log 9 reduction) of pathogenic bacteria. To our knowledge no other water filtration device in the world can match that claim."

I have had a Big Berky for 2 months, due to a cancer diagnosis my treatment plan requires drinking pure water with no added fluoride and no residual agrotoxins, etc. The Berkey filters were the best solution I could find of anything on the market and we''re loving the water and quick and easy system.

I live in Thailand where all drinking water comes in large plastic containers, most of which bake in the hot sun for hours while being transported to shops to be sold. So even the best quality drinking water here tastes of plastics, chemicals and metals.

Now I simply pour this ''drinking water'' through my beloved Berkey Light and it comes out tasting like heaven! So pure, so tasteless and some how it even feels like ''wetter'' water in my mouth. Perhaps the water molecules are reduced in size due to the extensive filtering.

NOTE: if you are attaching the white PF-2 Flouride Filters be sure not to turn them more than the recommended 8 turns, I didn''t read the instructions fully and when I attached them I heard a crunch I managed to break the media screen by turning too much hope this doesn''t end up harming my health too much!

I cannot recommend this product highly enough 5 stars!

I wish I had invested in one of these 5 years ago!

First, the good. The Berkey water filter system works without electricity, is one of the most thorough filters on the market, and produces great tasting water. I don''t regret purchasing this item, however, I do have some gripes. For one thing, the instructions that come with the filter are REEE-diculous. For almost $300, I would expect a better set of instructions, one that was produced for my exact product, not a general sort of guide with alot of if''s, and''s and but''s concerning different optional pieces. Also, the text and illustrations looked like they were written and drawn by a fifth grader... and not a particularly talented one. Note to other purchasers: all the filters need to be flushed out with tap water using the spongy little donut thingie to keep you from spraying water off the sides of the spigot. And if you get the flouride filters, only turn them eight times when attaching or you might damage them. Also, I thought the plastic was a bit flimsy, especially for the price. I was expecting something a little more solid. On the plus side, the plastic has no BPA''s in it, which is a plus for the fellas, because BPA''s are converted into estrogen in the body... not good for boys. At the end of the day, it does produce some great tasting water, and I guess that''s all that matters. I just feel like I need to deduct a star for the pathetic instructions it came with.

We live in town and our local water supply had so much residual chlorine in it that it got to the point I wouldn''t drink water at the end of the day. It had kind of a strange taste the first time we used the Berkey, but I don''t know if that is because we weren''t used to it or because it had some residual coating on the plastic. We washed ours before use, but I think if I had to do it over I would wash the containers a couple of times before running my first set of water through.

One of the coolest things to do is put food coloring in the top container and watch it come out clear in the bottom. This is actually part of the set up procedure in the instructions. Set up took about 15 minutes, the threads on the bottom of the filters are fine and about an inch long so that you can thread the PF2 filters on the bottom. We haven''t actually used our PF2 filters yet. I wanted to try it without for awhile and then try it with the PF2 filters and see if we noticed a taste difference. The rest of the thing just snaps together, and is easy enough to take apart that my wife doesn''t have any issues. It is recommended that you take the bottom section apart once a month and wash it with soap to prevent algae growth.

The only thing I am not super thrilled with is the spigot. It is a pretty much standard like water cooler spigot, but it is kinda a flimsy plastic and the seals that seal it to the container are ok, but I had some leaking issues when I first assembled it. The instructions for the spigot seal are kinda ambiguous as well because they are bell shaped and can go either way, still not sure which way they are suppossed to go, but it doesn''t leak.

All in all good product, glad for the light weight and movability, but not sold on the spigot.

I''ve had the Berkey light for a few months now and overall, I''m happy with it. I bought it with the intention of using it to filter out flouride or purify water in the event of an emergency. Unfortunately for my reviews, I tend to point out the things I don''t like about things. First of all, this thing is huge. If this is a Berkey light, I shudder to think what size the other ones are. To put it simply, this will not fit on most kitchen counters as it''s easily three feet tall. Next, and probably the biggest complaint is build quality. You can tell most of the technology for the Berkey light was put into the filters. The design of the unit itself is cheap in my opinion. Not only that, but I discovered the unit will leak if you leave water in the top reservoir. While this isn''t a major problem for me, it may be for some. Basically, you have to wait until the bottom unit empties out of water until you fill the top up with water. Considering the top unit holds 2.5 gallons of water, you can see how this may be a hassle for some people. Last is the taste of the water itself. I didn''t notice a difference in taste between using the Berkey and a Brita water filter. Despite all of these flaws, I''m still happy with the product however, I would recommend others to spend a few extra dollars and by one of the metal containers. Hopefully that would resolve the issue with the leaks.

Black & Decker DCM600W 5-Cup Drip Coffeemaker

Black & Decker DCM600W 5-Cup Drip Coffeemaker with Glass Carafe, WhiteBlack & Decker 5-Cup Coffeemaker is an inexpensive & quick way to a delicious cup of coffee. The size of the pot is perfect for one person or two. So easy to use & easy clean up. Nice, clean lines. Great gift idea.

Note: when filling the water resovoir & pouring the coffee, it''s best to use the thumb tab to lift the carafe lid, otherwise the liquid tends to over flow the spout.

This appliance makes just the right amount of coffee for me with all its faults. The water guage is invisible unless you close the lid. If you close the lid how do you pour in the water? The overfill guide is two holes in the water compartment. If by accident, you overfill, you have water all over the counter. After the coffee is made, the entire appliance is dripping with condensation. The price is right but sure has lots of design problems.

This will be the THIRD one of this particular B&D model that I will be purchasing. OK, call me "insane" but I have liked the way it makes coffee and will just put up with its drawbacks which I wish B&D would fix:

(1) Without a Pause(to stop drips) it still can drip and any water/coffee that falls on the hot plate WILL corrode it over time. On my second one of this model I even covered the hot plate with foil at the outset to prevent the corrosion but over time (a year or little over) the foil corroded and, thus, the hot plate;

(2) On/Off button broke. On this second model, the On/Off button simply cracked and then fell off. I had to discard this coffeemaker due to the danger of electrical shock.

Other than that, I''ve been pleased with its size and the coffee it brews.

This is an update for my original review shown below. After having the pot several more months, I have noticed that the hot plate does get corroded from hot coffee dripping on it. Also, one other problem, which has also been mentioned by other reviewers is that pouring out the coffee can get messy it tends to drip and dribble unless you pour slowly and keep the lid raised while pouring. However, considering how much use I get out of it (at least three pots of coffee or hot water a day), I''m still happy with it and my original rating of four stars stands. If B & D can come up with a better, non-drip carafe and a hot plate that doesn''t corrode, they''d earn five stars from me.

The Black & Decker 5-cup coffeemaker is a good little basic pot for those times when you only need to make enough coffee for one or two people. I generally use a 16 oz. mug for my coffee and with this pot I get almost two mugs full. One of the other reviewers mentioned that the hot plate portion of their pot had corroded from the coffee dripping onto it. I haven''t had that problem but I''ve only had my pot for about three months. There are no bells and whistles with this machine no timers, automatic shutoff, etc. It''s just a good basic coffeemaker for people who don''t want to make a big pot of coffee when all they want is a cup or two.

Black and Decker DCM600 5 Cup Drip coffeemaker without serve and pause AND I LOVE IT FOR THAT REASON. Old fashion simple design . The serve and pause feature is one feature that breaks easy. The 5 cup capacity is unique . It''s not too small and not to big. But the biggest draw for this model is that I don''t need to use the carafe if I only need a small 16 oz of coffee , all I need is to put my mug instead of the carafe. Most mug will fit under this model. with pause and serve model , it is not possible . The newest single serve coffee will cost $35$150 dollars like the Kurig but we will have to buy a coffee that will fit in the machine which in the long run could cost more . So overall by price and convenient Black & Decker DCMM600W is the winner. I am ordering my 4th one. I give one as a gift . I put one at work and I gave away one to my daughter so Ineed one at home for myself.Hopefully black and Decker will continue this model. I called this the classic one .Unfortunately they are hard to buy . Not too many are available in store. Specially the Black Model.

Sunbeam Ultrasonic Visible Mist Humidifier

Sunbeam Ultrasonic Visible Mist HumidifierBought this last year & we only used it 3-4x, for a total of maybe 16 hours of use. It worked great & we had no complaints. Dried it & stored it according to instructions & brought it out this year. After the initial use of about 2 hours it stopped creating mist. Turn to the instruction "leaflet" that was included with it when we bought it and the only "solutions" for the humidifier not creating mist were: 1. It ran out of water; refill the tank -OR2. It''s not plugged in, or it is plugged in but isn''t turned on high enough. Thanks, but I''m not an idiot, so it was plugged in, filled with cool water & turned on HIGH and still no mist. Tried cleaning it thoroughlyeven though it wasn''t really dirty and made no difference. A vast waste of money & I will certainly check reviews before purchasing my next humidifier. Thought we could just pick up any one because we don''t use it often, but clearly I was wrong.

I mostly concur with all the points made by the brimar''s review. If you know what to expect from an ultrasonic humidifier, this one does the job adequately. However, to add or highlight a few points:

-if you set the unit on high, it will easily put out more vapor than it can disperse into the air, which will result in soaking the surfaces in front of the humidifier (not a problem unique to this humidifier).

-it lacks a humidistat. (That''s a dial like a thermostat that automatically turns off the mist output when the desired level of humidity is reached.) You can find other humidifiers in this same price range that include this feature.

-the tank is very tall, and you fill it from the bottom, so don''t be surprised if you end up having to fill it in your bathtub. (This is also a problem many current humidifier models suffer from. Most have awkwardly shaped tanks that either don''t fit under a typical bathroom sink tap and/or don''t balance when turned upside down.)

In summary, this unit has some of the same flaws seen in many current humidifiers, making it average.

Buy Sunbeam Ultrasonic Visible Mist Humidifier Now

This is a good humidifier, not great. I''ll keep this simple:

Pros:

-Large enough tank so you don''t have to refill often, once every couple days if you run it for 3-5 hours in the evening

-Very quiet, can''t hear the fan but you can hear the bubbler (ultrasonic metal disk in the bottom)

-Doesn''t require filter

Cons:

-If the water runs out, the ultrasonic disk will get VERY hot (trust me, I touched it) and mine didn''t shut off automatically -Now it only puts out half as much vapor

-Blower isn''t large enough, the bubbler puts more vapor than the fan can blow, so the water vapor will get your floor soaked if you turn it on high

-approximately $40, too much. should cost about 20-30.

I bought this after going thru many filters on other humidifiers. Thought it was a good idea, wrong. Worked well for the first few days, now no mist. I have cleaned it did everything the instruction manual, another big joke, suggested to do. So now I have this thing that doesn''t do anything but make noise. Next time I''ll spend the money and get filters.

Aqua Rain Set of 4 Filter Elements

Aqua Rain Set of 4 Filter ElementsI purchased my original four-filter SS AquaRain gravity water purifier in 2001 and have been using it ever since to produce drinking water, using only our high quality city aquifer water as the source. Unfortunately the officials have contaminated the water with the forced addition of the poison fluoride, to render it into a forced mass medication of less than dubious value. I was told the filters may help remove the fluoride. After over 10 years use the output water was becoming cloudy, so I wanted to replace the filters. The new filters, although being 7.5" long, were 1.5" shorter than the originals but had the exact same U.S. Patent number along with "Marathen Ceramics". Two negatives to report. 1. The single-paper note enclosed said "Important! DO NOT overtighten wing nuts!!! Please read instructions before assembling filter. Broken elements are NOT COVERED by the warranty." However, there were no other instructions nor paper(s) included inside the delivery box! Although there was a 417 number listed on the note to call if "Have Questions?". I did not call. Hint: the rubber washers go INside the container UNDER the filters, not OUTside on the bottom, or all the water leaks out no mater how much you try to tighten the wing nuts wondering how tight is too tight when filter breakage occurs. 2. There is an added objectionable taste to the filtered water now, which I assume will eventually go away with continued use. I''ve produced maybe about 12 gallons so far. I''ll work with it.

These are significantly shorter than real AquaRain filter elements (about 2" or 50mm shorter) so less total surface area equals longer filtering time. The water does not taste nearly as clean either so I doubt the charcoal (if there is any) is not of the same density/quality as authentic AquaRain filter cartridges. Furthermore, the misleading advertisement along with the seller''s lack of communication makes me wonder if the elements contain biostatic silver like true AquaRain filters which would be a tremendous safety issue if tainted water were used in the filter. If the buyer is only trying to save money, like I (foolishly) did these are an okay value. If you are looking for high quality replacement elements producing safe/clean water, buy elsewhere.

We love our Aqua rain and decided to get new replacement filters for later on. It does a great job of making water taste so very good. It is even better than the in-line water filter we have installed for our kitchen sink.

This is my second set of filters in my Aqua Rain and the first set lasted two years of six gallons a day. They are still filtering fine but I wanted to have a spare on hand for when they finally do give out. The water is great and the price per gallon is ridiculously low. Whether you just want to make sure your tap water is clean or you are camping, this system is the best.Aqua Rain Set of 4 Filter Elements

It did not fit. Otherwise, it was fine. In future,it would help if both the inner and outer diameter of such an object would be included in the description.

Aqua Filter Plus AFP210F Double-Tank Filtration System for Under Sink Save 26% Off

Aqua Filter Plus AFP210F Double-Tank Filtration System for Under SinkI got this filter installed, and it does a great job. The water tastes like bottled water maybe even better. It doesn''t need to be replaced often, and I use it for drinking and cooking. Great buy.

We have this filter for about 2 years and it does it''s job VERY effectively. Right away, we were able to tell a significant difference in the taste of the water compared to tap water, and it''s even better then bottled water! Even my 3 year old likes water thanks to this filter!

Although they recommend to change the cartridge after a year, i am past one year and the water still tastes delicious.

Austin Air Healthmate Jr Replacement Filter

Austin Air Healthmate Jr Replacement Filter w/ Prefilter - BlackThese filter replacements are very easy to install. You just turn the machine upside-down, unloosen 4 screws and remove the cover. Then pull out the dirty filter and pre-filter and discard in a plastic bag, wipe out the interior with a damp cloth and put in the new filter and pre-filter. It took me about 5 minutes to complete the whole operation. These filters are supposed to last 5 years but I use it in a room that is quite dusty and find that 3 years is about right. It still is cheaper than filters I''ve used in the past that had to be replaced more often.

I bought the Austin Healthmate Jr. about 5 years ago when I was looking for a HEPA filter and have been happy with it. The three things I like best about it are that you don''t have to buy filters very often because you can vacuum the outside of the filter and that it''s relatively quiet. The other thing is that it takes air in on all four sides and blows the filtered air out through the top area. It seems to do a good job of filtering the air. It''s more energy efficient than air purifiers I''ve used in the past and it has 3 speeds which is nice.

If you use it in really dusty conditions like mine, you can replace the pre-filter more often than the big filter. I''ve found this type of material that I could cut to fit at a local hardware store. You get a pre-filter with it. You have to take it apart to replace the pre-filter and filters, but it isn''t difficult. You can turn off the machine and vacuum it from the outside and that seems to help the filters last longer. Of course, you''ll want to use a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter or you defeat the purpose. I replace mine about once a year, but I think the average person could go much longer.

The only reason I didn''t give it 5 stars is because I don''t really have any way of measuring how good of a job it does, only that it seems to do a good job in terms of allergies, odors, etc. There are so many air filters out there and so many claims, that it''s hard to sort them out. But if I had to buy a filter for another room, I would probably buy this brand again.

Received the filter and installed it the same day. I was looking to replace the filer on my Austin Healthmate Jr. This one looked exact fit and it was.

Royal Berkey Water Filter with 2 Black Filters & 2 Sport Bottles

Royal Berkey Water Filter with 2 Black Filters & 2 Sport BottlesThe filter makes the water potable, but does not live up to the ad where taste is concerned. You can live on it, but you won''t like it.

The seller does what they advertise. Good experience there.

Installed with ease and works as intended. The product is a bit on the expensive side but we go through a lot of water and its much cheaper / more convenient than bottled water or other filtered water solutions.

Been using these for a few years now I can''t complain. Our water tastes clean and each filter lasts about 4 months. :)

Unistar 4-in-1 Swamp Cooler with Ionic Air Purifier Save 47% Off

Unistar 4-in-1 Swamp Cooler with Ionic Air Purifier, DF268.pros:

saves you in energy bills since it can cool the room instead of using the ac

filters are washable

the included remote gives you controls even in bed

the 30 min interval timer feature is great specially when it gets too cold at night

cons:

the ionizer feature is more of a display light than anything

needs a weekly maintenance. water mineral builds up at the bottom, if you let it sit for more than a week, taking it out posts a problem.

if you even find the time to actually clean the insides of the fan and and take out the dusts and water deposits, it would take a lot of patients since the machine wasn''t designed for easy disassemble. (you''ll need a thin long screw driver to take out some of the screws.)

bottom line:

machine is great as an alternative humidifier and room fan. It is a high maintenance machine make sure you clean it every week or two.

The air conditioning in my building has not been working, so it has been about 80-85 degrees in our cubicles. With this product, I am actually able to be comfortable. It was very easy to set up and get going and the water lasts a long time between fill ups. I do add ice to the top for more cooling. Three people have bought one since they have seen mine, and others stop by to cool off. I shopped around, and this cooler was about the best price and, as I said in the title, it is also kind of "retro" and cute, as well as functional.

This unit has been perfect for my intended use.

My co-workers prefer to keep our office building a bit warmer than I am comfortable. I have set the Unistar Swamp Cooler in the door of my office, and it effectively keeps my office several degrees cooler than it would otherwise be. I wasn''t sure when I bought it whether it would work in a humid region, and have been very happy that it does. Nor does it make the environment uncomfortable humid. I assume that if the primary central A/C went out, this thing wouldn''t do much of anything, though, in South Carolina.

Also, the manual is a joy to read. Honestly, I''ve read it cover to cover at least three times. It is an excellent and humorous example of non-native translation. Example: "Attention: Any parts of the control panel should be forbidden to be stained with water." Well, it amuses me, anyhow. . .

UPDATED 1 September 2011

I''ve had this swamp cooler for 2.5 years now. I use it every business day. It still performs well. As for maintenance, I had to take it apart to clean it after about a year and a half, and just today had to give it its second cleaning. It takes about twenty minutes to take apart, clean, & put back together -so less than an hour of maintenance time for 2.5 years (in addition to occasionally wiping down the ice basin & rinsing the filter). It''s made out of plastic which I would imagine will only stand up to two or three more overhauls, but it''s not cheaply made to the extent that it should lose a star. This thing is really a champ.

This is a great fan, nice looking, quiet and effective. I use it in my garage apartment and provides a nice comfort level. It is easy to operate and fill in with water. 8 gallon tank requires re-fill every other day. It comes with 4 ice packs. I use 2 at a time with the other two in the fridge and replace the ice packs every day. The top of the unit also has a compartment, where I add ice daily. The only thing that could make this fan better looking is to have a choice on the color. White is great, but would be nice to have a choice for the side light green color.
