Siroflex Showerhead From Italy

Siroflex Showerhead From Italy
  • The Greatest water flow shower head that will put out a lot of water for its small size and saves water too! We cannot over praise this little power house.
  • Guaranteed to be the BEST SOLUTION for your shower. With a rotation of 360 degrees and a stainless steel filter that will guarantee that the water exit orifices will never be obstructed.
  • A very simple solution for the best shower you can get.
  • Builds up pressure in the head and forces it out of 88 jets!
  • Made from LEXAN, the same material that FOOTBALL Helmets and safety glass are made from.

I am what you would call somewhat of a shower head aficionado as over the years I have tried many different shower heads and while some were OK, there were only a handful which I would rate as "must-haves". I, to this day, have several in my collection that I will just not part with.

Imagine my surprise this past Summer while vacationing in Old Orchard Beach Maine to happen across one of the greatest showers I have had the pleasure to take.

Now, if any of you know OOB, it''s a small beach Town in Maine and while there are several nice motels popping up over recent years, most haven''t had a facelift/update for several decades and this includes the showers as well.

After a full day in the hot sun & saltwater taking a nice shower is not usually on the agenda as most hotels have the water saving shower heads and combined with the lack of pressure makes for a horrible shower...can you say pins & needles?!

There were several times over the years where I would skip said shower as my sunburn was really bad and I would rather smell a little "ripe" then subject myself to the torture chamber of a hotel shower. Besides, I was on vacation and could always blame the scent on the Ocean "Can you guys smell that horrible seaweed smell?" :)

But, stepping into the shower this time was a unusually pleasant experience. Full, robust water cascading out the shower head unlike anything I have experienced, including my own Home. All of this from a cheap looking plastic shower head.

I got out of the shower and the first thing I said to my Wife was "this shower head is coming Home with me!" Yeah, it''s that good.

But with my Children hearing every word out of Dad''s mouth and not wanting to be known as a thief (unlike the Hotel...$175.00 a night for 75 yards from the Beach is highway robbery), I unscrewed the shower head to look for any type of markings and came across Siroflex as well as made in Italy.

After a quick online search I found the shower head on several sites and ordered one right there from the ''bay, $8.79 shipped. I had spent more for a beer and burger that afternoon. Great deal indeed.

To the shower head...

It comes shipped in a plastic bag from the manufacture and while it is shown it in the blue and white packaging (only slightly less gaudy),several I have ordered from three different vendors for friends and family were of the plastic bag variety.

It is very unassuming, it has the looks that would appeal to the Kmart/Walmart crowd but don''t let looks fool ya''.

As mentioned earlier it is plastic not brass or chrome and does indeed look on the cheap side but notwithstanding this it gives a great shower with full, even flow and great force. Not too wide and not too narrow. I do not like any of the rainfall shower heads or the massaging crisscross pattern heads I have tried.

Give me a good ole'' fashioned drenching shower any day.

The downside (there''s always a downside huh?) is the water usage...like the past reviewers buckspeed & kirk have stated the water usage is high, like almost five gallons-a-minute on my measured 80 psi shower. So in this way the "Get the best shower while saving water" quote is a little misleading.

But if you think of it this way, you will get cleaner quicker and be out of the shower sooner than with a typical water saving shower head than that quote is indeed true.

I recently ordered from a vendor that sends a washer with the head to limit water usage some and this cuts the flow to about three gallons-a-minute. I would say set up this way it gives about 75% of the shower of a washer-less Siroflex but there is some "pulsating" issues that I am not found of. I am still experimenting with this combo and might drill out the washer a bit to see if I can get the best of both worlds. But if not I will not feel too bad about the high water usage as my Home is loaded with water saving devices from the toilets to the faucets to the dishwasher and besides, my neighbor wastes more water on his lawn with his automatic sprinkler system even on rainy days then I waste in a 15 minute shower.

If you want to look into this vendor think "neat".

In closing I will say this..forget the looks of it, close your eyes and enjoy a great refreshing shower for under $10 bucks. I know I am.

I have long hair which is very thick. This is the only showerhead I''ve found that does a nice job of rinsing shampoo out of my hair. A siroflex showerhead is in both of my bathrooms. Whenever we have guests, they rave about the great shower! And the funny thing is -it''s the cheapest showerhead on the market. Whenever I travel, I carry one in my suitcase. Hotel showers are notorious for poor water pressure. Now, I can have a nice shower -no matter where I am.

First of all, I am not someone who writes many reviews. Like many of us here at Amazon, we only take the time to review products when they are either exceptionally good or incredibly bad. Over the last 30 years I have owned many showerheads from all the major brands. But having low hot water pressure, most did not live up to expectations. Having read the reviews I decided to spend the $10 and give the little (yes surprisingly small) Siroflex a try. Boy am I glad I did. Truly the BEST showerhead at ANY price. It doesn''t look like much. It looks like cheap plastic. And it is sold in a plastic bag. But don''t let the appearance turn you away. It is very well designed. No tools or pipe tape needed. Just screw it on and enjoy. Hand tight with no tape, and it does not leak at the connection. Not a drop. And it is so effective, that I actually have to turn DOWN the hot water because it was just too intense. I''ve already ordered more as gifts. Leave it to the Italians. They make some of the worlds finest sports cars, so it makes sense that they could make the best showerheads. Try it. You''ll love it.

This shower head feels great to use. However, I ran out of hot water the first time I used it, so I decided to measure it''s flow. Multiple measurements came out to 5 gallons per minute. This is a lot of water. For comparison, most current Delta shower heads you would find at local stores are between 2 and 3 gallons per minute. I''ve rated this 1 star because of the misleading title of the item. You are most definitely NOT saving water with this shower head.

For anyone who remembers what it was like to take a shower pre-1992, then this shower head is for you. In 1992 the government decided that you can''t have a shower head that puts out more than 2.5 gallon per minute. Fortunately for those of us who enjoy a strong shower, the Italian government has no such restrictions. The strong water flow feels absolutely tremendous! I highly recommend this product with no reservations at all.

Disclaimer: After using this shower head for 2 months, I have seen approximately a 25% increase in my water bill (~$45 to ~$55). The other thing to be cognizant of is your hot water usage. If you have a smaller hot water tank, the increase flow can quickly deplete your tank, leaving you in a cold shower.

I tried the regular filter first and found that this one definitely provides extra ''oomph'' and a better quality of air that I prefer.

Rush Hampton Fresh n Pure Bottled Water Maker Save 47% Off

Rush Hampton BWM 1000B Fresh n Pure Bottled Water Maker, BlackI bought 2 of these from home.woot during a woot-off and am very pleased with it so far. The unit itself looks as good as any other "appliance" on my counter. The water flow is excellent and beats even the faucet mount filters (brita and pur). It was very easy to install and is easy enough for my 3 and 5 year olds to operate. The 1000 gallon/1 year filter life is excellent, and even better is that the unit comes with a second filter included! As long as the unit itself lasts that long it will be WELL WORTH THE MONEY compared to other faucet mount filters. Even for a full price purchase!

Both my friend and I have had no luck with several different Brita and Pur faucet mounts lasting more than 3-6 months without leaking so badly they were just useless. At about $25 each and $10 a filter for the Brita and Pur brands (which only last 100 gallons or about 2 months in my house) I was easily spending over $100/year on filtration systems AND adding quite a bit of trash to the landfills. Lately I''ve just stuck with the agonizingly slow pitcher filters. Now I''m thrilled to have the Fresh n Pure system. I should be set for 2 YEARS with a single filter replacement that comes with it.

My only CON would be the black tubing that comes with my black model. It is quite unsightly going from the diverter on the faucet to the unit on my counter. A transparent tubing would be much less noticeable against my chrome faucet. I must assume the white units come with white tubing, which would be only a slight improvement.

So long as it works as its supposed to I will be a very pleased customer! I will update in a few weeks/months on how it''s holding up.

First, about the person giving it 1 star because it doesn''t remove flouride. You shouldn''t give something a horrible review because it doesn''t do something you wanted it to, but clearly never said it would. Flouride is put in municipal water in areas *on purpose* (I''m not saying this is a good thing, but it is true), you should look for a filter specifically meant to remove it.

With that said, I am very pleased with this item. It immediately took that nasty chlorine taste out of my water, I wanted my water to taste good and now it does. A year of clean water and bpa-free bottles to drink it from.

Mine was leaking when I first used it, so I looked it up on the internet to find there was no advice on how to fix it. I couldn''t seem to get the "filter removal tool" to work and didn''t want to force (and break) it. I called the company and got a very nice woman on the phone who went out of her way and explained to me in detail how to fix it.

I''m going to post this information here so that others can find it.

To remove the filter: Lay the unit on its right side on a counter with a towel on it.

Insert the filter wrench to the groves on the bottom of the cannister. (after taking the base off)

Turn counter-clockwise to remove.

Inside you will find a rubber o-ring. (mine was not laid flat during installation)

Coat the o-ring with some cooking oil, just a tiny bit.

Slide the o-ring over the threaded end of the cannister, making sure it lies flat against the lip.

(not inside the cover)

Put the cannister cover back on snug, put the base of the unit back on.

Done! It was easy and no longer leaks! I hope this helps someone.

This was a replacement unit for the same unit I purchased 2 years ago as part of regular household maintenance. The unit filters the taste of the water wonderfully. And while it may not remove all the impurities in water, for the price + the assurance of the local water company regarding water quality, it does the job for me. Also, saves on plastic water bottles where in many cases, the water is drawn from a tap and run through some filter. Size is also a plus. And it''s good looking. It is easy to work in on a small counter area. Great purchase.

Been using the Big Berkey for years with the ceramic filters. No problem but these looked like they filtered more and thus made that purchase.

Well, they worked about one week and then they began leaking unfiltered water into the tank. They were just not doing the job. These can be tested by putting red dye in the water and it should filter it out. It was touch and go. Sent them back for another set. They did the same thing. This was over a year ago, so maybe they are better now but I wouldn''t buy them again.

What was really annoying is that I sold my set of ceramic filters after the purchase and had to at a loss buy them again. :-(

I would expect better from British Berkefeld. We were filtering only tap water from the city. Not dangerous, only disgusting. These could risk your life if they were being used out in the field.

I ordered these as back up filters for a berkey system that I bought from the berkey sight. I put these on the shelf to use at a later date. I stared having issues(the base came unglued) with the filters that came with my system so I replaced them with my back up filters that I ordered from amazon. I didnt realize that the ones that came with the system were defective too.. I thought I miss handled them. I was wroung. ALL OF THEM ARE BROKEN TOO. I have sent emails to berkey directly and all Ive gotten back is if I order more they''ll give me 25% off.I have responed with many emails pleading my case on how they should replace them and I have not heard from them since. ARE YOU KIDDING ME..I have spent hundreds on a system that has hardly worked. Not to mention that the bottom chamber started leaking at the spout 4 months after I bought it and the base cracked. (I bought the berkey light) I really wanted this...and Im Really upset with the company and they''re poor customer service. Im not the only one..There are tons of forums all over the internet with people have the same issues with the filters falling apart, the leaking, the poor customer service, and dealing with the shock that this company has not issued a recall on the filters. There are people trusting that they are drinking CLEAN FILTERED water and they are in fact NOT...I should know Im one of them. If you have bought filters already I suggest doing a die test right out of the box and not trusting that they work and putting them in your back stock.

I''m a prepper, and have stocked a number of these as they''re supposed to filter ecoli and so much else. I used two food buckets and bought my own spout to make make my own filter system (YouTube!) but make sure you have a lid and bucket bottom which fit very flat together or you may need more gaskets or sealant material.

I use this in my home for any beverages, fishtanks, etc. Otherwise, my local water kills fis.

These filters are not great by any means, but they do what they are supposed to do. Of course, we''ve found that it is very important to use the right bacteriostat with the filters. We bought some Sunbeam bacteriostat water treatment for humidifiers at our local Home Depot, and I swear that they just put purified water in the bottle! Once we started buying the Essick Air bacteriostat water treatment, our filters lasted much longer, and didn''t get that musty/fishy smell to them.

Essick Air Products manufactures and markets the HDC-12 MoistAir humidifier filter. Essick also is a manufacturer of humidifiers. A handfull of Kenmore humidifiers also recommend and use this filter, Kenmore No. 14911. The two part numbers will give you the same filter which is a "paper-pleated type''. Anything other, such as the spongy foam type offered by other manufacturers, is *inferior* in performance. Beware of misleading info fooling you out of the real McCoy. The foam type filters or wicks may be obtained for half the price but require replacement 3 times as often if not more.

This year Sears 14911 and this product are not the same as that of prior years. They are about 1/2" shorter, much lighter paper weight, and most important have plastic ribs down both sides not one. They will not flex and fit in my humidifier.

I have returned them. I strongly suggest you avoid them if you need to curve the filter to fit in your humidifier.

It spun around and made a lovely swirling geyser of water and food debris about 2 feet high. Could not hold it in place, because the points of the flutes rest right on the corner of the disposer hole -it just slips back and forth. Returning.

Cuisinart DCC-1150 Classic 10-Cup Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker Save 45% Off

Cuisinart DCC-1150BK 10-Cup Classic Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker, BlackI have this one in black, and have been making coffee at least once a day for the past three weeks. I was debating between this 10-cup thermal ($80), the 12-cup thermal ($130), and the 12-cup glass carafe with warming plate ($80), all by Cuisinart. In the end, I wanted something that used less electricity, so I went with the thermal. The added bonus with a thermal is that the coffee taste doesn''t change from your first cup to your second cup a few hours later. I finally decided to save $50 and buy the 10-cup thermal because everything else was the same except for the 10 ounce difference (both coffeemakers brew 5 oz cups). I purchased mine from a different store, and I found out that there was no gold cone filter. I called up Cuisinart and they said depending on where you purchased the coffeemaker, it may use paper cones, or it may come with the gold cone filter. They graciously sent me a gold cone for free. So after 3 weeks:

PROS:

-easy to set up, easy to use

-charcoal water filter (I use tap water, so I like the fact that the machine filters it before going into my coffee)

-auto brew timer (the smell of coffee helps me wake up in the morning and I am fully brain dead when I first wake up. I can barely get dressed, much less make coffee. So I set it up the night before and I have amazing, fresh coffee ready for me in the AM).

-beeps to signal that coffee is ready

-coffee stays fresh for at least 4 hours. On weekends, I set my coffee to brew as normal at 7AM, but sometimes I sleep late until 11AM or later. I go to pour my coffee and it''s still steaming! (and not burnt from the warming plate)

-thermal carafe saves electricity because there is no need for a warming plate

-I can use both paper cone filters or the gold cone filter. The gold cone is just as easy to clean as the disposable paper cones. I just shake out the grinds into the trash, and rinse with water. SO easy. And I save money because I don''t have to buy filters!

-I drink my coffee black, so I can tell good coffee from bad coffee. I also like my coffee strong and bold. When I''m lazy, I use Illy medium grind, medium roast pre-ground. One mountainous scoop (comes with the coffeemaker) per 10 oz. of coffee. My one mug of coffee is equal to the coffeemaker''s two cups, so yes, the machine makes 5 mugs total. When I make coffee for just myself, I fill the reservoir to 2 cups, add one giant scoop of coffee to the filter, press the 1-4 cups button, turn the dial to brew, and press "on." I love it.

-I have no problem with the size of the machine (I thought it was small). It is sitting on a side table in my tiny kitchen, not on the countertop or underneath cabinets. So I can easily flip up the top and have easy access to the water reservoir. It is also on the right side of the table, so I just use a cup and pour water into the reservoir. I don''t think it''s hard at all to pour water in. The triangular opening is on the right, back corner of the machine and is about 3" x 3" x 4".

-The water level is very clearly marked and easy to see on the right side of the machine.

CONS:

-The beep is not just one cute beep. It is 4 or 5 beeps in a row. This could be annoying to some people.

-Not really a con for me, but other people have commented on the pouring as "difficult." I think it is the nature of a thermal carafe to require some patience when pouring into a cup. It is well sealed to keep the coffee hot, so when you pour, the liquid has to go through a maze to get out. On my last cup, I just take the top off and pour. Definitely worth the "effort." It''s really not hard, I promise. :)

-I read reviews of how people wake up with coffee all over the counter because the carafe was clogged at the top. So whenever I set up the machine to brew, I make sure to rinse the top with hot water and shake it around a bit to make sure the little ball isn''t stuck. Also, not difficult to do.

-I guess if you don''t have easy access to the right side of this machine, it could be difficult to pour water in and see the water level. If it''s in the middle of your countertop, you may have to turn it to the side in order to pour the water in. For me, it''s easy because my coffeemaker sits on the right side of a table in my kitchen.

I am so glad I went with this machine. I hope it lasts for a long time.

----------------

4+ YEAR UPDATE: I''ve had it replaced, but I still love the machine! After 2.5 years, the machine stopped brewing. I can''t remember the problem exactly, but I would press brew, and the green light would go on, then off after a minute without brewing. I called customer service, and they said to unplug it for a few hours and try again. This worked! The machine was back in action for another 6 months or so. Then it really stopped working. Apparently, you''re supposed to pour diluted vinegar into the reservoir and brew that once in a while to clean out the machine. I never replaced the filter because the "clean" light never went on in the 3 years that I owned it. Regardless, I called Customer Service and they sent me a new machine within a few days (for a delivery charge of $10 or $15). I also had to send the old machine back to them (I can''t remember if shipping was prepaid by Cuisinart).

Now I use filtered water only, hoping to prolong the life of the filter and machine. Still makes great coffee, and I love that it keeps the coffee hot for so many hours without changing the taste!!

CORRECTION: I used to think there was a ball in the lid of the carafe, which the liquid flows through and into the thermal carafe. It''s actually a little flap. If you shake the lid, you''ll hear it. My recommendation for avoiding clog disasters is the same rinse the lid under hot water and shake to make sure the flap mechanism is not stuck, and you''re good to go!

I read every review anybody ever wrote for a coffee maker. Conclusion: Somebody doesn''t like something about every coffee maker that''s ever been made.

What I''ve found in the month that I''ve had it: The carafe keeps the coffee hot for at least 3 hours. It pours without going all over the counter. I can''t make the thing drip one drop. I still pour my cup over the sink from years with a different pot where about half of the coffee went down the drain. Not this one. Not a drop. I measured the brew temp. with a meat thermometer stuck in the grounds at 202 degrees. Any coffee maker will overflow all over the counter if the pot isn''t correctly positioned. It''s easy to position correctly and a quick peak at the pot:drip hole makes it obvious if it''s where it belongs. Some reviews complain about difficulty in pouring water from carafe to the water tank. Could be, I''ve got a kitchen faucet that lets me stick the faucet right into the tank so it''s not a problem for me. It''s probably time you get one of those anyway. It is a little hard to read the water level scale on the tank, but I''m old. I put a black dot with a magic marker at the 6 cup mark. Problem solved.

Summary: It brews hot, stays hot in the carafe, easy to pour with no mess. That''s really all I was looking for. I''d recommend and I buy another.

I first used this coffee maker at my parents'' house and was impressed with the flavor. For a drip coffee maker, this brews excellent coffee (I used to use a French press daily).

I was surprised to see all the comments about lukewarm coffee, as I hadn''t noticed this problem. I do use cream so it concerned me you have to have hot coffee if you are going to add cold cream.

Turns out, reading the manual gave me the answer I needed: that button for 1-4 cups "provides doulbe heating of the water, so coffee is piping hot." You can use this button no matter how many cups you brew to get the water hotter. I''m having no problems at all.

Hope this helps!

I''ve been using this coffee maker for about a week. I bought it as an upgrade over a Black and Decker coffee maker that was generally good, but I wanted a new one with a cone filter. The cone filter gets more flavor out of the coffee than the basket filter: it''s a must.

The other must, for me, is the thermal carafe. I wake up earlier than my wife and if we''re both drinking out of the same pot the coffee can''t continue to cook on a warming plate. The coffee quickly turns bitter. The thermal carafe keeps it near the brew temperature for a couple of hours, and you can keep it hot longer if you heat the pot before brewing the coffee. If you brew it into a room temperature pot, the coffee is 177 degrees. If you brew it into a pot which you''ve filled with hot water (and emptied, of course) the coffee will be 182 degrees. Both temperatures were hotter than my old pot.

I tested the heat degredation and found:

182 -fresh

174 -1.5 hours later

168 -3 hours later

162 -4.5 hours later

I''ve read a lot of reviews of this product, and it''s clear that some buyers didn''t follow instructions. Thermal carafes punish you if you don''t. You have to position the carafe properly or you''ll have a mess to clean up. I''ve done it a few times with my old coffee maker. It''s always my fault, never the coffee maker''s.

This is a well designed thermal carafe since you can pour without having to open it and letting too much air into it. This is a good product, and at a good price compared to more expensive models from Bunn or Zojirushi. It is more expensive than the Black and Decker but worth the cost because you get more out of your coffee beans.

I will start by saying that I have only owned this product for a few days, and that all my previous coffee makers have been the sub $20 variety from the local store. On weekends I make 2-4 cups in the morning and I like to enjoy them over a period of a few hours. However the burner has usually destroyed the flavor by the time I return for a second cup, and I set out to find a better alternative.

After reading some reviews on this particular model I finally ordered one, and although I have only used it a few times so far, I could not be more pleased with it. Some reviews stated that their coffee was cold, the machine was hard to fill, the beeps were noisy, and the pot poured slowly. My experience has been as follows

The filling area is smaller than my previous coffee maker, and is located on the right side of the machine. I am left handed and can still fill it easily, although due to the design of the pot it must be tilted further upside down than a glass pot in order to empty it. Not an issue.

The unit is very quiet while brewing, more so than the one it replaced.

When I make coffee I use the 1-4 cup setting, and I preheat the pot by using hot water to fill the coffee maker. When the coffee is finished brewing it is piping hot. I will further this by saying that I made 1-4 cups at 4:30 pm, and finished only 2 cups. When I returned at 10:30 pm to clean the pot before bed I found that the remaining coffee was still very hot and would not have required any reheating had I chose to drink it. This situation has been easily repeatable, and since no burner is involved the first cup tastes as good as the last, even 6 hours later.

This machine seems to be about the same speed as my previous coffee makers, and I use the slower 1-4 cup setting.

It has an area for a water filter, and came with one to get me started. I cannot taste any difference with or without it so I cannot comment on its effectiveness, although it is nice to have that as an option. It also comes with a few paper filters to get you started, or you can simply reuse the metal filter which is also included.

It beeps a few times when its finished brewing. The tone reminds me of a wristwatch beeping except it is slightly louder. It it not loud enough to be a nuisance, but I can easily hear it when I am in the adjacent room watching tv or working on the pc. It lets me know when my coffee is ready for consumption, and I like it.

Some say the pot pours slowly into the cup. It actually does, but unless you are pouring coffee in a combat zone and under fire, does 2 to 3 extra seconds really make that much of a difference? Again, not an issue. There is also no need to turn the lid in order to pour or fill the pot as with other products. Very nice.

All said and done, I am very satisfied with this product, and would gladly purchase it again.

Watts Premier 500450 Water Pitcher Powered by HALO Pure with LED Monitor
  • Water dispenser with filter. Reduces sand silt, sediment, rust, chlorine taste and odor in water
  • 99-Gallon filter capacity. More than twice the capacity of standard pour through filters
  • Filter-life gauge indicates when filter needs to be replaced
  • WQA tested and listed to ORD 0901 Microbiological Testing Protocol for pour through filters
  • NSF certified

I bought this Halo Pure water pitcher for our cabin. This pitcher has given us the peace of mind to not only make sure the well water is safer, but the taste is fantastic. It states it reduces the heavy elements, whereas retains the beneficial minerals which makes great sense. I really like the indicator light that tells us when we have gone through 99 gallons and time for a new filter, which I also purchased on Amazon. 99 gallons should last us about 4-5 months, which is way more economical and ecological than purchasing bottled water. I just don''t have much confidence in the cheaper pitcher models on the market. The design is very sleek, which fits well in our refrigerator

Filters 8 liters per day (maximum recommended). That''s just over two gallons.

Clear, easy to understand instructions.

All parts fit together easily. Good materials. Well made.

Recommended for potable water only. This is not something you should rely upon if the city water shuts down and you''re depending on runoff. I filter city water. Takes out the particulates and cuts the cholorine and other off-flavors and smells. Disolved oxygen remains, so the water doesn''t taste flat.

Takes about 15 minutes to filter a liter. May take longer as the filter clogs.

I noted a little black from the new filter. Instructions recommend discarding the first two iterations, so that became a non-issue.

I like this system very much. I ordered a second pitcher and three more filters.

This pitcher is great. The water tastes wonderful and it fits into my frig well. It is easy to fill and pour from. I like the counter that tells me when to change the filter. Filter was easy to install. Much less expensive than bottled water! I use the water for all my drinking water, for cooking, and also to make my coffee each morning.

The filters that this pitcher comes with have no effect on my tap water at all. Brita and PUR both work much better. I do, however, really like the design of the pitcher itself. So many water pitchers are so flimsy that you need to use both hands to pour in order to make sure the lid doesn''t fall off. This one doesn''t have that issue.

Here''s what I''ve done with it: If you have at least one of the filter cartridges that came with this pitcher, you can remove the black rubber gasket wrapped around it and place it onto a standard Brita filter. This allows the Brita filter to fit inside this pitcher, and it works really well for me. Every time you change your Brita filter, just remember to remove and wash the gasket, and then place it on the new filter cartridge. I have no idea if the LED counter effectively measures how often a Brita filter needs to be changed, but I use it as a guide (since otherwise I would just get lazy and never change the thing).

This a great, reliable, and easy to use water filter. It fits perfectly in my refrigerator and the sturdy design makes it easy to hold, pour, and refill when needed. It was an incredibly doable set up as well. Moving from Seattle, WA to the southern California area, the tap water had a "funny taste" but this filter took care of that issue remarkably. My water tastes great! I completely recommend this product for anyone in need of a water filter or ridding their water of that same "funny taste." :)

BISSELL 1867 Steam Mop Bare Floor Steam Cleaner

BISSELL 1867 Steam Mop Bare Floor Steam CleanerI admit it I finally bought something because I saw it on an infomercial and all I can say is that I am very impressed!! I have 2 dogs, a husband that works in the oilfield, me the messy cook, and I live in sandy red dirt west Texas. This thing can really handle it all. I also like how the mop pad also goes over my 1/4 round on the baseboards and gets them too.In addition I love that I don''t have to immediatly leave the area after I have mopped because the fumes from the chemicals are so strong... as my experience was when I tried the swiffer wetjet. I had debated as to whether to get this with the Bissell CatchAll or to get the Hoover Floormate and so far I am very happy with th choice I have made.

One hint I found out when using this product that is not mentioned in the instructions is that it works best when you pull it backwards instead of forwards.( like I do when using my hoover steamvac widepath) I noticed when I was pushing forwards all the steam seamed to be coming out the back of the mop head and when I pulled it backwards all the steam went apparantly on the floor because I barely saw it coming out but I could certainly see the difference. After using this product I really can say that my floor is clean. not only does it look clean , but I know that the steam is killing bacteria and I can believe it or not , breathe better. I dont know if this is because it is like being around a vaporizer or because it is killing bacteria and dustmites but it does.

WHen all of these new and improved moppping gadgets hit the market I had been hopfull because hey, I admit I hate mopping. After mopping while the floor was still wet it never failed that either my dogs or my husband when just walk on it and get it dirty again. So I tried the swiffer wetjet and was not impressed because of the strong smell of the cleaner, having to buy cleaner and pads all the time, did not get ground in stuff very well, and Knowing that I was only degreasing and not disinfecting the floor. This steam mop is cost effeciant because I don''t have to keep buying cleaner or pads. It is reccomened to use distilled water to maximize the use of the water filter but 1$ /gallon compared to $3/liter isn''t bad and I may end up getting one of those pur things to not have to do even that. I honestly recommend this product and hope that this may help someone considering buying it!

I love a clean floor, but I hate mopping so much that I put it off and put it off. Kitchen floors in a busy household should be mopped AT LEAST once a week, but wringing a heavy wet mop and dealing with all that dirty water yuck. So when I saw this, I thought that if it lived up to its billing, it would be the answer to my prayers. (By the way the swiffer doesn''t get the floor clean at all to my satisfaction, costs too much and leaves unwanted chemicals smeared around)

After trying this I can say that yes, it really does get the floor clean not as clean as if I had scrubbed on my hands and knees but much cleaner than a quickie mop job. And no wringing, no rinsing, no dirty bucket of water. Just one pass and I''m done. It works on both linoleum and ceramic tile/grout and fits around the back of the toilet.I am also pleased with the slim profile which makes it easy to store.

A few tips: to get the floor clean you have to go SLOW. REALLY SLOW. But one pass done this way over each area is enough. Also, it won''t take black shoe scuffs up. And as you go the mop cover gets saturated, leaving the last area mopped pretty wet. And to extend the life of the filter, the instructions say you should use distilled water an additional expense.

But the upshot is that I cheerfully mop my kitchen and bathrooms twice a week now. I have been for months. Its amazing. This machine has solved one of life''s true miseries (for me anyway).

with a household of 6, we see some serious dirt! we have ceramic tiling in most of our downstairs and it gets filthy! with young children we have big messes-and i HATE to mop, but i do have to clean it, eventually. i saved one of those eventual times for when i received my steam mop-just to see how well it would do. i am totally impressed!! this thing got up stuck on dried food-dirt-everything! and yes even more so then a reg mop. usually i have to scrub on hands and knees to get most anything stuck on, but with this i just steamed over a stuck on spot for a few secs and it came right up! just for an example-we have a dried baby cereal spot that has been there for months-that stuff is like concrete and nothing will take it up! i have tried soaking, scrubbing, scraping-all to no avail! then i held the steam mop over it for about 15 secs and most of it came up! the only thing i would recommend is getting the replacement pads when you buy it. they will get saturated with water-which is ok-it just takes longer to dry, and for the area i mopped -i really needed to change it for each room. i love the fact that when i take the pads off when i am finished that they are almost too hot too touch! boy do we feel clean! hope this helps anyone thinking about buying one of these!

I saw an infomercial on TV and thought I would give the Steam Mop a try. I have tile and hardwood floors in my house that are constantly dirty from my 2 kids and dog. After using it a couple of times I am very satisfied. It only takes about 30 seconds to heat up the water, and I can control the amount of steam I put down with the trigger. The mop pads do a good job at cleaning and drying the floor, and you can throw them right into the washing machine. The Steam Mop is a nice alternative to the traditional mop and bucket. Thanks Bissell for such a great product.

I almost talked my wife into getting one of those Swiffer Wet Jets but after reading the countless reviews on Amazon about how horrible Swiffer products are, I decided to check out this Bissell Steam Mop.

We have hardwood floors and tile throughout our house and they definitely needed a good mopping. Wow did this mop do the trick! On one small tank of water, I mopped half the house. And it wasn''t slow at all as one reviewer suggested. Perhaps the difference is that I kept a steady stream of steam going.

In any case, I love this product. The pads are reusable and the only replacement part seems to be the filter.

The only reason I didn''t give it five stars is because the pad gets really dirty really quickly. If it came with two more pads, in addition to the two it comes with, you could switch out pads regularly and be sure you''re mopping up the dirt and not spreading it around. So if you''re going to buy this, buy two more pads.

PureAir Universal Air Filter - 2 Pack Frigidaire SCPUREAIR2PK
  • Fast odor absortion
  • Quick & easy refill

I took a chance that this was indeed the right filter for the Pureair fliter housing in my Frigidaire, despite the description and the picture. The filters I received have the removable panel on one side. The actual dimensions of the filter are 4 7/8" x 6 3/4" x 1/2". The advertised dimensions must be for the box in which the two filters are packaged. The part number is Electrolux #242047801, which turned out to be the exact replacment for my old filter. When it comes time for replacement, I''ll buy from these folks again. Just wish they would update the product information.

Aprilaire 45 Replacement Water Pad

Aprilaire 45 Replacement Water Pad- Twin Pack
  • Fits Space-Gard/Aprilaire furnace humidifier models 400, 400A, and 400M.
  • Space-Gard/Aprilaire furnace humidifier filters (evaporator pads).
  • Measures approximately 9 7/8" x 12 7/8" x 1 3/4".
  • 2 wick filters per pack.
  • Honeycomb filtration to trap mineral pollutants found in water and help prevent them from entering your home.

This replacement filter fits the Aprilaire 400 humidifier and is cheaper (including shipping) than purchasing from aprilaire''s website (even though they have free shipping).

That being said, this replacement filter is grossly overpriced for what it is. Clearly a profit center for Aprilaire.

I have ordered this part before and have had no issues with this seller. Product arrived quickly.

There''s not much to say about the filters. They are the manufacturer''s replacement unit and do their job. The service from Filters-Now was very good with fast delivery. I won''t hesitate to order from them again, either directly or through Amazon. The price seems high for a simple paper and metal filter, but it''s clearly a profit center for the manufacturer. The price from this vendor was much better than from others I found.

Purchased this for my in law''s aprilaire 400 and it fits perfectly. No instructions needed to change it just remove the cover, pull out the holder, pull out the water tube from the holder and unclip the top of the holder from the bottom (one clip on each side). Reverse that to put it back together and reset the ''change water pad'' indicator. One thing I wasn''t sure about was whether the twin pack was really for two changes, or whether I need to use both for one change of the water pad, but as it turns out, only one is needed to change the water pad, so the twin pack is good for two changes.

I''d suggest to cycle the humidifier back on with the cover off and watch it for a few mins just to make sure you put everything back together properly and it''s working as needed (it takes a while for the water to absorb into the pad when you watch it). Also a good time to check the float valve switches to make sure they''re functioning, not stuck, etc... just lift up on the little tip of the valve switch (there are two, at the bottom of the pan) and the water should shut off .. switch should move freely.

We got timely shipping on this item.

Good luck!

Thia Aprilaire 45 Replacement Water PadTwin Pack [Misc.] that they describe on Amazon might not be what you receive. They describe the pads as 13.5" X 10.5". They also say it is a "twin pack" which, in actuality is two pads that are actually 7.5" x 9.5" each.

When I put the two pads together I got 15" X 9.5". I cut the 15" down to 13.5", which I needed. I am short in the other direction. I need 10" and have 9.5".

I am not happy with the way the vendor describes it versus what I actually received.

UPDATE 2/17/2012

After contacting seller concerning the above problem, they replied very quickly. Withing a few days i did get the correct item. The new pads fit perfectly.

The seller was obviously concerned that the wrong item was sent and wanted to rectify the problem immediately. For this reason I am changing my 1 star to five.

I was very satisfied with my Aprilaire Replacement Water Pads from this company and will order again in the near future from them

NewAir AD-400 40 Pint Portable Room Dehumidifier Save 28% Off

NewAir AD-400 40 Pint Portable Room DehumidifierI bought this humidifier February 2010. Since the spring, it was in constant use in the basement. It was quiet and smaller than my old one (which lasted about 6 years). I hooked up a hose for continuous use. It worked really well until last week (September 2010), when the compressor quit. It still registers the humidity, the fan blows and the motor gets hot. But no water is coming out. I tried to find out about warranty, but the "owner''s manual" does not even list the company, much less give warranty information or how to contact them. A web search of "NewAir" only brought up places that sell them, not how to contact the company. So now I am stuck buying a second dehumidifier in less than a year.

Bought in April ''10 Nov ''10 doesn''t work. Can''t locate the Manufacturer. Overpriced junk. Runs nice and quiet but that is all it does. I have a fedders that is loud that is in another home that has been working 24-7 for 4 years now that cost me $79 at Walmart. You would think the seller would do its research on a product before they sell. I''m hoping the seller will replace it or refund. Crossing my fingers.

Buy NewAir AD-400 40 Pint Portable Room Dehumidifier Now

I bought two of these units in February 2012 from Air & Water. I placed one unit upstairs and the other downstairs and connected them each via drain hose to a roughly 20 gallon sealed Rubbermaid bin.

I have the humidistat on each unit set at 45%, which means that with the high humidity in Houston, TX, both units should run nonstop. Several Hygrometers in my house all show that indoor relative humidity exceeded 50% over 95% of the time during the test period I''ve had these units running.

At first I was thrilled with how quiet and compact these units were. But then something wasn''t adding up. I was emptying under 10 pints per day per unit vs. the 40 pints advertised, even though the units were running non-stop (which I verified) at an electricity cost of roughly $17 per month each unit.

Air & Water''s website claims that each unit will cover 2,500 square feet. If true, then 2 units should cover my 5,000 square foot house. But they don''t. Not even close. I bought these units based on the advertised pints per day and square foot coverage, which if true, would make the units quite energy efficient. But when the unit produces under 10 pints vs. 40 advertised, that makes it extremely energy inefficient compared to other dehumidifiers.

In summary......

Pros:

Great price, especially after coupon codes and promotions from Air & Water

Compact

Super quiet at first (although has been making funny noises lately)

Cons:

Produces less than 10 pints per day, vs. 40 claimed

Actual pints per kWh of electricity makes this unit less than 1/4 as energy efficient as advertised.

The water collection bucket in the unit is extremely small. A continuous drain hose connection is available, but the drain hose must be purchased separately. The instructions say to use a 9mm inside diameter drain hose, but this doesn''t fit. What is needed is a 3/8" inside diameter hose.

Reviews on the Air & Water website for this product are fishy. Even the very best products offered on Amazon have their share of 1-star reviews. Where are the 1-star reviews for this unit on the Air & Water website? By way of comparison, at the time of this writing, 1/3 of the reviews at Amazon for this product are either 1 or 2 star.

Consumer Reports does not rate this model. According to their testing, Frigidaire (FAD704DUD), Haier (DE65EKL), and Soleus (SGDEH702) models rated the highest. NewAir appears to be a store brand of Air & Water.

Bought the AD-400 about 9 months ago. It now flashes that it is full and won''t run even though it is empty. I''ve tried maneuvering the tank to no avail. Can''t find any information on the web to try to contact the manufacturer, Newair. Try to find this company, you won''t be able to. I was very happy with this unit until it quit. Since this company is invisible to the consumer, I''d advise against buying their product since they can''t be contacted in case of problems like I''m having.

Want NewAir AD-400 40 Pint Portable Room Dehumidifier Discount?

I purchased this dehumidifier for mainly for my downstairs and wanted one quiet enough for use in my bedroom upstairs if needed. And, boy is this thing quiet. Honestly, my refrigerator is louder. The last I purchased removed lots of water, but it can be heard throughout the house when it was running. So i only used it when needed. The NewAir is super quiet. I often walk by it to make sure its on.

The NewAir works great in all weather conditioners . Running the central air is not necessary since the house is not hot. So I use a dehumidifier, which makes the house seem less clammy. I would recommend the Newair AD 400 to anyone who is looking for a small, really quiet, relatively light, dehumidifier that works well without with out excess noise.

Keurig K75 Platinum Brewing System Save 7% Off

Keurig K75 Single-Cup Home-Brewing System with Water Filter Kit, PlatinumUnboxing:

Item was purchased from Amazon directly; Arrived triple boxed and in perfect condition. I was presently surprised to find a little note from Keurig stating I was amung the first to receive the new K-75 this seems to be a silent upgrade as the UPC, and printed box specs are for the current model B-70.

The unit was packaged securly with an instructional/promotional packet above the top piece of styrofoam that was 1/2 of a steady shell that surround the fully assembled unit. Packet contained a "Buy two get two free offer" for K-Cup packs if purchased from Keurig directly, the owners manual, and the surprise note mentioned above along with specials directions on how to install the included water filter.

Setup:

Setup was easy, and took less than ten minutes complete. (This includes the brewing of the first cup) I found the most difficult part of the process was installing the water filter into the unit, as it must be lowered into the units tank, and seated on an inlet hole towards the rear of the tank. I would say most people would not have an issue with this however, and fully blame my ape hands for the difficulty I encountered.

Use:

The unit was ready for its first brew about 4 minutes after turning it on. Prep is simple and consists of raising the front lever, dropping a K-cup into the hole, closing the lid, and hitting brew. Not much more to say about the possess, it just works. The one thing that did stand out is how quite this unit is from start to finish. It is not much louder that the Bunn pour over machine it replaced!

Misc:

This unit looks great with the blue LED lit tank, and matching buttons. The larger 75oz tank slightly reduces the drip try area as it extends past the base as a result of the larger size. This in no way hinders use of the unit.

The directions for the water filter say each filter pod should be changed every 60 tank fills or every two months; which seems more than reasonable as a three pod replacement pack is about $12.

Brews coffee as well as any of Keurig units I have tried, and water temp is accurate to within 1 degree of its set point measured at the very top of the stream coming out of the unit.

All in all I am very happy with this product, and as a result I just purchased another for my office.

I just got the Keurig K75 at Costco with 60 K-Cups and My K-Cup reusable coffee filter for only 149.99. It''s a great coffee maker, but if you are a Costco member, you might want to save the $30 and get the extras.

I purchased the Keurig B70 for work. When I make coffee at home I prefer to grind my own beans and will drink an entire pot but at work I wanted something convenient that would give me a fresh cup every-time, never burnt. The Keurig fits the work environment perfectly. Everyone can drink whatever they want, dark roast, blond roast, tea hot chocolate, etc. with never any waste or mess. I''m still looking for the perfect K-cup, most are not quite strong enough for my taste but at least no one is fighting over how to make the coffee or who will clean up the mess.

Neoperl Faucet Aerator Water saving Dual Threaded/ Aerated Stream 1.5 gpm Save 57% Off

Neoperl Faucet Aerator Water saving Dual Threaded/ Aerated Stream 1.5 gpm -WaterSenseI''m an environmentalist. I recycle and strive to reduce my impact on the nature. I live in apartment building so water is part of the maintenance bill.

I have bought this item primarily to conserve water. It had replaced my 2.0 GPH aerator. The best thing about it, is that my mother (whom I didn''t tell anything about the swap) did not notice anything! So, in short this is perfect for bathroom faucets saves water / money / and acts the same as 2.0 GPH aerators.

Oh, and I should mention that it is VERY easy to install with just appropriate sized pliers (to unscrew the old aerator).

I''m planning on buying about three more units for my friends.

I purchased a couple of these at my local Home Depot for $3.69 each (SKU: 705-654, UPC: 008359100860). I installed the filters in all the bathrooms in my house and the kitchen faucet and had no problems with any of the ones installed in the bathrooms but the one installed in the kitchen faucet had really low water pressure and delayed release of water once the handle was turned on. I removed the filter from the kitchen faucet and pressure returned to normal.

Its a good product for the bathrooms but depending on the water pressure and faucet model that you have in your kitchen it might not be so good for your kitchen faucet, you might want to try a filter that is 2.0 gpm for the kitchen or leave the one that your faucet came with on the faucet (which is probably a 2.5 gpm filter).

Pros

-----------

It worked wonderfully in all of my bathroom faucets with no problems.

It helps control the flow of water so it comes out more smoothly from the faucet instead of wildly and spraying everywhere

Saves water

Low Price

Easy to install

Comes with both inner and outer threads so it works in all faucets and is simple to install

Cons

-----------

Didnt work well in my kitchen faucet, it had low water pressure and it took a about 2 seconds for the water to start flowing with the filter on in the kitchen faucet once the handle was turned on.

Suggestion

-----------

Only buy it for your bathroom faucets, and if you want to save money on shipping you might want to check out your local Home Depot instead of buying it online. I purchased 4 of them from my local Home Depot for $3.69 each from the plumbing department. I suggest using a 2.0gmp filter or leaving the stock filter on your kitchen faucet, 1.5gpm doesnt cut it for the kitchen.

Nobody has noticed the decreased water flow from the faucet, which is good! Used this in my kitchen as the 2.2 gpm aerator seemed like overkill. It was. Why doesn''t everyone use low flow aerators?

The stream is just right for use in our master bath. The higher pressure streams do a good job of cleaning off toothbrushes, razors, and other sink items.

It is not easy to drink from the faucet any more. I solve that by cupping my hand under the faucet and drinking from my hand.

Cuts the water bill so fast you recover the money in the first month. I bought 6 more.

So I''ve been using it for a few months now and WOW has this cut water consumption.

I live off a cistern, a/k/a a big water tank so I have to be careful and wait for rain. This is just the best water saving device I have ever used. Nice clean flow and it''s amazing how much water I was wasting.

If you pay for water this will cut your bill, if you are conserving water this is the ticket.

Now if they only made one for the toilet.
