Braun KFK500-BK AromaDeluxe 10-Cup Replacement Carafe Save $0.04 Off

Braun KFK500-BK AromaDeluxe 10-Cup Replacement Carafe, BlackMy husband loves this coffee pot. The problem is, it is a little sensitive. He was washing it with a brush and barely bumped it on the sink, and while it did not break it did put a large crack around the carafe. We are very careful while handling it, primarily for the reasons listed by other reviewers, and we''ve only had it about 6 weeks. Maybe the glass is a little thin or not tempered properly? Either way, be careful while washing it.

I ordered this as a replacement when my Braun (model 3104, european 220v) coffeemaker''s original carafe was broken. I was concerned that it may not work since the drip function is triggered by the coffee pot being in just the right place. It works perfectly, though, and looks exactly like the original. I''ve seen some reviews that indicate the glass is weak or too thin, but I haven''t had any problems; seems to be of identical quality to the first carafe (which, by the way, was knocked off the counter onto a tile floor, so no surprise it broke!).

I was very pleased with the carafe we received. We had the original when we purchased the coffee pot new...this one is even better! It feels like sturdier glass and everything works perfectly with the original coffee pot (no spilling or auto stop drip issues). The coffee pot was expensive when it was new and the minimal investment of a new carafe just extended its life even further!

When my carafe to Braun KFK500-BK Aroma Delux 10 cup maker got broken, I searched the internet for the Braun name and up came the picture of the coffee maker and carafe replacement information. It was shipped immediately and saved me from using a years old too small drip coffee maker (never throw anything old away you might need it) while I waited for the rplacement. Thanks to Amazon.com I had the carafe within four days.

KDF/GAC Water Filter Cartridge For Undercounter Units Save 41% Off

KDF/GAC Water Filter Cartridge For Undercounter Units - Removes Chlorine Lead Heavy Metals Lasts 12,000 Gallons! This is a question, not a review. Since the 2nd stage of this filter uses copper to react with and remove other heavy metals...how much COPPER does it leave in the drinking water? The Romans originally used nice easy-to-work copper for their plumbing, but learned to substitute lead pipes for it, because the lead poisoning was much slower than the copper poisoning.

Brita Div of Clorox 35501 Brita Replacement Water Filter Cartridge

Brita Div of Clorox 35501 Brita Replacement Water Filter CartridgeAhhhh... the Brita filters. They''re like magic. You put in your tap water with a bad after taste, and it comes out tasting like water should... like nothing!

They don''t filter everything; they don''t purify (kill bacteria), but they sure do make the water taste good and take out much of the harmful additives.

Also, they are cheap compared to buying water and don''t cause nearly as much waste as bottled water. They also save energy because they do not use massive amounts of fuel (truck or human!) for hauling.

Besides, you know most bottled waters are from the tap anyway, don''t you?

WaterPik F-5 Faucet Water Filter Save 15% Off

Instapure Chrome Water Filter SystemI had the chrome version since 1994, and it''s STILL working great and looking like new. The filters are very cheap, can be found for $3-$5, which is a proven charcoal filter design. It''s easy to install, really effective in taking the odor and taste out of water (in my case it removed chlorine taste and a weird copper pipe smell in old buildings, and no it''s not my imagination). It''s good enough for most treated municipal waters, unless your water source is seriously contaminated (with rare chemicals, radioactivity, or just plain filthy).

Compared to many main stream water filters sold today, this thing is a real gem without the heavy marketing, offering a filter design that''s really the same thing as some much more expensive models. It''s a real classic, and really cost effective.

I only hope waterpik will keep on making these things and those affordable filters. 14 years and the thing still looks and works as good as ever. I love it.

I bought this water filter years ago and decided to get again. Its plastic, only problem depending how your sink is made might have a problem attaching it. The water taste way better than before. will buy again even the filters too.

Works like a charm and is a lot more cost effective than many other brands. Easy to install and comes with plenty of adapters. No doubt will buy again if needed. Also bought a 4 pack of filters at the same time, so I''m set for over a year and the filters were just as cost effective.

Water tastes good and yor long term cost will be .10 to. 20 a gallon, depending on how often you choose to change the filter. You don''t need to change filters as often as advised but if you do, they can be purchased for about $3 each ($12 for a box of 4).

  • Aquasana is less expensive than pitcher filters

For several years I was a very satisfied owner of the Aquasana under the counter filter system. The filters would last about five months until the water flow devolved into a trickle and needed to be replaced. At some point in 2011 Aquasana changed the filter design and the new filters clogged up after just a few weeks. I contacted the company and was told they had a problem with the glue used in the filters in one batch and they''d replace my filters for the cost of shipping. Fine. Well, the same thing happened again. Contacting the company once more I was told the filters had a new design and a pre-filter was now required. They shipped me the pre-filter. Once again, after about six weeks (and a 2nd pre-filter) water flow is virtually non-existent!

ENOUGH! I am done with Aquasana as I refuse to pay $50 every six weeks AND deal with the hassles of changing filters and pre-filters so often. What a shame. They''ve ruined what used to be an excellent system. If anyone knows of a system that actually works, please advise.

These filters definitely work. However, we have to replace ours much more frequently than the suggested rate. The water stream slows significantly after about a month, and they never last two months. That adds up: The replacements are $60. Keep that in mind.

I''ve been using this water filter system for drinking & shower purpose for last 4 yrs. Very happy with the results but the cartridge change procedure could be easier. I am bit scared to use the tools since its made of plastic. And with bare hands to loosen and after replacing cartridges tighten it again with the sharp plastic edges of the bottom of filter system(over the counter system), is quite pain. I wish they could redesign it for ease of replacing the cartridges.

Great tasting water but filters only last about 3 months. And I use only about 1 gallon a day.

Keurig B70 Platinum Brewing System Save 31% Off

Keurig B70 Platinum Brewing SystemMy wife''s Christmas present this year is a Keurig B70 coffee maker. We have a B100 at work that I was very impressed by and we decided that a home machine would nicely fill the need when we might want a cup or two, but might not want to make a full pot.

Long story short: we love the machine. So far, our favorite coffee is Timothy''s Kona Blend -but we haven''t tried more than a handful of the scores of varieties of coffees and teas available for the beast. We got the extra filter for when we want to grind and use our own coffee in the machine, but have not yet had the opportunity to try it yet. It is a nice option to have.

We''ll still use our Zojirushi thermal carafe brewer when we need a full pot, but the Keurig is wonderful for lesser amounts. Highly recommended.

I learned today that one of the coffee roasters that supplies the K-cups, Green Mountain, just bought Keurig (an American company with a Dutch name). I hope this won''t limit the variety of coffees available for the machines -that would be a major bummer if other roasters bowed out and would cause me to pull my glowing recommendation.

UPDATE 7/30/07: The B70 died today after 8 months of yeoman service. A call to Keurig revealed that the symptoms matched a "bad element" (one would assume heating element). A replacement machine in on its way (arrival in 3-4 days). Keurig doesn''t want the old machine back, just a part. Keurig customer service was extremely pleasant and professional. Assuming the replacement machine arrives in good form, the five star rating is intact. I do wonder if there is a generic problem with heating elements in this model -I''ll have to look through the newer reviews to see if I should worry.

UPDATE 1/12/11: The replacement B70 is still going strong 3.5 years later. Still very happy with the unit.

UPDATE 11/16/12: The same B70 is now at my wife''s workplace and is still going strong. No additional repairs have been needed.

I received a B77 as a gift at the end of Nov 2009. 3 days later it would not push water out through the K-cup.

Exchanged it at Costco, worked great until 2 days ago. 1 month of light usage and it''s having problems filling from the reservoir.

Going to exchange it for a third but I''m not confident that the next unit will be trouble free.

My brother''s same unit that''s a year old (and works fine) had a very loud fill pump.

Keurig changed the pump design in the B77 to a small dc motor driven impeller pump. Much much quieter when filling, but apparently cannot always overcome the check valve after the pump.

I always use RO water, and the unit is only 1 month old so scale is not the issue. I refill the tank when it''s still on the machine, so no air to get in there to screw up the pump''s priming.

Google B70 pump problems.

Edit: I did not bother to exchange the 2nd unit as from what I''ve read here and on SingleServeCoffee''s website, all the B70/B77 are plaqued with this problem. Even ones directly purchased or replaced by Keurig. Maker will for for a few days or weeks, then suffer the "not ready" and then shutdown problem as it is unable to pull water from the reservoir into the heater.

I put a review in on Keurig''s website itself but it looks like they censor what gets posted or not, hence the glowing reviews there.

Being one who loves convenient, but great tasting coffee, I''ve bought several single-serve coffee machines. The Home Cafe, My Bunn Cafe, and the most recent, Tassimo.

They all worked quite well, considering how "new" they were to the field, and how fresh the field really was at the time, for consumers. I was happy with each purchase(save the Home Cafe, which had a serious mechanical flaw).

I''m not going to spend all my time just comparing the Keurig machine; I''m simply going to say "I wish I''d bought one of these[any Keurig machine] earlier". It meets almost all the desires I had in a single-serve coffee machine.

Tons of variety in K-cups (which actually can be difficult, I didn''t know where to start or what to try!)

Simple to use

Beautiful, functional design

4 brew size choices

Keeps water hot for the next cup instead of waiting until you fiddle with the machine

Can be used with a custom filter K-Cup so you can brew any coffee you like (I''m looking forward to using this with tea too!)

Much quieter than some machines I''ve used (the Tassimo is freakishly loud in my opinion)

Those are just some reasons I love this machine. The fact that it makes very good coffee is a big plus too, right? It seems as if the coffee from the Keurig machine tastes less "burnt" than most single serve coffee I''ve had in the past.

My biggest complaint is the cost. Whether it''s worth $200 to you or not, is entirely up to YOU. If you''re as obsessed with quick, easy, tasty coffee like I am, maybe you''ll agree that it is worth it.

I''m a happy customer, either way. ;)

I recently purchased the new Keurig B-70 Gourmet Single Cup Home Brewing System that was released on October 1st, 2006 and have been very happy with it. The machine is extremely well designed, simple to operate, aesthetically pleasing, and most importantly, brews an excellent cup of coffee. I am very impressed with how quickly it is able to brew a cup of coffee, the selection of brew sizes, and how simple clean up is.

There are a variety of single cup brewers on the market now, many utilizing pre-packaged coffee "pods" for brewing. Personally I was not comfortable purchasing a product where I would be locked into the selection and pricing of a specific manufacturer, or one that would only brew coffee and not tea and cocoa. This is just one area where Keurig really shines above their competition.

Keurig has gathered support of a variety of gourmet coffee, tea, and cocoa manufacturers and there currently there are over 140 different types sold pre-packaged in K-Cups including Green Mountain, Diedrich, Gloria Jean''s, Timothy''s, Van Houtte, Tully''s, Coffee People, Newman''s Own, Celestial Seasonings, Bigelow, Twinings, and Ghirardelli. Not only is there a large selection to choose from, there are a variety of resellers online offering K-Cups, and pricing is extremely competitive.

In addition to the pre-packaged offerings, Keurig offers the My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter allows you to use your own gourmet ground coffee in your Keurig home brewer. This option provided the extra level of comfort I personally needed to make the jump into a single cup brewer. Frankly I don''t find myself using it very often as I had originally thought, as there are so many options available in pre-packaged K-cups.

The pricing of the Keurig brewers are extremely reasonable, and brews gourmet coffee in just a fraction of the cost of purchasing it from a Starbucks, Coffee People, or similar. I expect that my machine will pay for itself in savings in just a couple months of use.

The only suggestion I have for Keurig is that the My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter be included with the sale of the brewer, and not an optional accessory. It is such an inexpensive accessory that I am surprised it was not included. Overall the Keurig brewers are excellent value and quality and would recommend them to anyone interested in a single cup brewer.

My husband and I decided to buy this coffee maker for two reasons. One, we wanted to break our Starbucks habit/addiction and two, because we both have really different tastes in coffee. A traditional coffee maker just wasn''t cutting it for us because we couldn''t both drink out of the same pot of coffee and ended up wasting a lot of coffee. So this allows us to each brew our favorite coffee without a lot of waste. The coffee maker is very quick to warm up and it''s not any louder than our old coffee pot. You can set the brew strength to suit your taste which is really helpful and it even has an iced coffee setting. The large water reservoir is a really nice feature because we don''t have to constantly refill the pot, unless of course we are drinking a lot of coffee or tea!

Now, I know the coffee maker is relatively expensive initially so the return on investment will take a little bit of time. With all the myriad of types and flavors of coffee and tea available, we have truly cut down on our Starbucks addiction and have both tailored our K-Cup purchases to suit our individual tastes. My husband makes two to three of his own Vanilla Latte style iced coffees everyday. I''ve branched out into trying all kinds of different teas in addition to making my own coffee. It does help that several cream companies have come out with some truly delicious flavored creamers to compliment the wide variety of coffee flavors available.

While we can get a few flavors of the K-cups at our local grocery store, Amazon by far has the best selection and best prices. This particular model of coffee maker came with an assortment of coffees so we could try a variety. When you are first starting out with this coffee maker, I would definitely recommend finding an assortment pack so you can decide what your favorites are without having a whole bunch of extra K-Cups left over of things you don''t like. Another nice feature that is available for purchase separately is a filter assembly for use with your own coffee. This comes in handy if you have a special coffee flavor that isn''t prepackaged by any of the K-Cup makers. Just be sure to use care when you grind your own beans and ensure you read the instructions so you don''t use too fine or too course of a grind.

We are extremely please with the quality of this coffee maker and the wide variety of quality coffees and teas available for it. If you have the cash and you are a dedictated coffee drinker, you can''t go wrong with this purchase!

Used this product in a Culligan HF-150A whole house housing but used it undersink. The whole house filter cartridges are cheaper and filter much faster than the "under sink" marketed products. This filter worked great, fit in the housing, and makes the water taste almost as good as our rainwater system with a 4 stage + UV filtration system at a different house but for a lot less. We don''t do a separate sediment step, just this one. I''ll update review if filter doesn''t do well in the future.

Update 1/10/2013 still have it installed under our sink, hasn''t leaked since the day we installed it, and the water has tasted perfectly filtered since then. We have it hooked to the cold side of the kitchen sink so ALL cold water passes through the filter. You can imagine how many gallons have been filtered through it by now and it still is like new. No way an undersink one would''ve lasted this long. Also, the undersink ones can''t pass water very quickly. Since this is a whole-house filter, it easily keeps up with the pressure. You can''t even tell a difference from before and after it was installed, and if someone didn''t tell you it was there you wouldn''t even know.

I will probably watch and buy several of these as replacements when they drop in price.

Want Pentek EP-10 Carbon Block Filter Cartridge Discount?

I use this filter to remove sulfur smell in water at my cabin. It removes all the smell and lasts four months. I use it as a whole house filter.

I recently installed three different water filters all together under my kitchen sink:1) Culligan D-10A Level 1 Drinking Water Replacement Cartridge Carbon-Impregnated Cellulose (2 filters for $10); 2) Pentek EP-10 Carbon Block Filter Cartridge (9-3/4" x 2-7/8"), 5 Micron ($12.50) & 3) KX MATRIKX Pb1, Extruded Carbon Block -0.5 micron Water Filter Cartridge, 06-250-125-975 ($17). I used 3 inexpensive Culligan water filters housings to plumb my system. I used a simple PVC water valve to adjust (slow) the water through my last 2 drinking water filters. My plumbing has the cold water at sink tap going through 1st filter: The Culligan''s Carbon-Impregnated Cellulose filter. ... Then that filtered water is plumbed to also feed my drinking water facet through 2 additonal filter housings which had in line the Pentek EP-10 (5 micron) carbon block filter, then the better KX MATRIKX Pb1 (0.5 micron) carbon block filter.

I tested the hot water & cold water at sink tap, and then my drinking water at separate drinking water tap with a TDS water quality tester (HM Digital TDS-4 Total Dissolved Solids Pocket Size Meter). I was surprised to find my TDS (total devolved solids) was slightly higher at my drinking water tap (which is channeled through 2 additional carbon block filters) than the cold water sink tap going through just the cheaper Culligan filter. I measured 125 TDS on hot water side of facet that has no filtering; 90 TDS at cold water sink facet going through just the Culligan cellulose filter; and 92 or 93 TDS at drinking water tap running through the two additional carbon block filters. This was after flushing the filters for the recommended 5 minuets (I likely did 10 minutes, then used setup for a week). I wondered why the TDS test results would be higher after going through the two additional carbon block filters??? Testing some more: When I took the Pentek EP-10 (5 micron) carbon block filter out of the 2nd postion housing and left that housing empty, ... I got the results I wanted to see. The TDS then measured at 87 at drinking water tap. That was 3 less TDS than the cold water sink tap) going through only the Culligan Carbon-Impregnated Cellulose Filter. A later test produced a 10 points less TDS at drinking water tap.

While I have not done further tests or tried a different Pentek EP-10 carbon block filter, I suspect the Pentek is below par and somehow added TDS to my drinking water setup. These test results were on filters that were all replaced about one week earlier. I believe the KX MATRIKX Pb1 (0.5 micron) filter is worth the extra money. The cheaper Culligan certainly does some good filtering of TDS too. I would test these filters out more if I was getting paid for it. I won''t be buying the Pentek brand again unless they supply me with a new filter that gets better TDS test results. TDS tests might not represent the full picture. Update: Did second test under different sink: TDS results for aged Culligan filter to sink tap then drinking water through the additional Pentek filter (the one I removed for main kitchen setup described above). TDS results fluctuated a bit/ close to the same. ... The Water Tasted better going through 2nd filter (the Pentek). No other filters were used in that TDS test.

Reliable Corporation E3 EnviroMate Steam Cleaning system Save $0.99 Off

Reliable Corporation E3 EnviroMate Steam Cleaning systemThis steam cleaner left me not quite steamed. I expected a more powerful steam effect. The steam is about like what I get from my iron when I''m pressing shirts (which isn''t to often). It gives a small burst of steam. I was expecting a much more powerful and continuous shot of steam.

Jerry

The easiest thing about this system was filling up the giant chamber whenever it needed more water, though the tank lasts a while. I loved how I didn''t need to stop or wait for it to cool down.

The hardest part for me was storing the plethora of accessories it came with, but I live with two roommates and no storage closet.

I recommend this item for a larger home or apartment and a dedicated owner who will take advantage of all the different ways you can clean with it. I''m selling mine (see above) and scaling down to a hand-held that will fit in my cupboard, but one day when I have a nice tile floor and a storage closet I''ll come crawling back to this.

I''ve tried a few steam products, and in actual cleaning, this one performs very well. It had one small problem that caused me to return it. The buttons and nobs where you change the parts are very poorly designed. Almost every time I changed a wand or tool, I would pinch the skin on my fingers, causing me to bleed a few times. Eventually, I was just afraid to use the machine without getting hurt. It''s kind of hard to explain, but it''s a result of cheap design. I''m giving 4 stars because if they would just fix this one flaw, it would be an excellent product.

I recently found bed bugs in my apartment and couldn''t afford to continue to throw out my furniture so I bought this steamer. It was hard to find a decent steamer and this one didn''t have many reviews so for the price I was a bit anxious when it arrived. My first reaction after turning this on was it was a piece of crap. Water was spraying all over and hardly any steam was coming out. I finally realized I overfilled the water tank. Once the unit heated up, it worked great. Hot steam and about twenty minutes of continuous use. I need some work on refilling the water reservoir after the unit has been on, it squirted water back at me but again user error. I used cold water... glad I did not damage the unit. So if you buy this unit read the directions carefully. There is a single page outline how to use this unit and the directions are clear. I typically ignore directions until after I broke the unit... need to work on that.

Pros

Many accessories that easily slide together (no pinching hands on my end like another reviewer)

Controls are easy to use

Continuous steam until unit is empty of water my handheld units lost steam every minute or two

Steam is hot verified that it kills bed bugs

Cons

Short power cable probably a safety feature

Mr. Coffee TM1 2-quart Ice Tea Maker

Mr. Coffee TM1 2-quart Ice Tea MakerI had the old one with the orange top. That one has a top basket to hold the tea bags which incorporates a side lever to plug the bottom drain hole, and an overflow channel so just the last couple of cups steep the tea until you pull the lever to release them. The new one with the blue basket has done away with that lever (I''m guessing to cut costs) and just put a little bit smaller hole at the bottom. They also tell you to use a coffee filter in the basket in addition to the teabags themselves, which after all are little paper filters. This is probably to slow down the run-out of the tea to help it steep it a little bit longer. My favorite combination of bags is one bag or Celestial Seasons Red Zinger, one Lipton Mango, and two Red Rose decaf''s. In the old one I would let this combination of tea steep for maybe 10 minutes, and it came out perfectly. Using the same bags with the new one makes *really* tasteless, watery tea.

I just found a new model that makes 3 quarts and has a dial on the front for what they call "brew strength". This is a decided advantage over the other revised model. Also, you get a quart more of tea per cycle. You pour the water directly into the unit, where there is a window on the front with markings for 1, 2 and 3 quarts. The container has markings for how much ice to use for 1, 2 and 3 quarts. This is a better design, IMHO. Also, the pitchers are shorter, so fit in more places in your fridge, and the handles don''t attach at the pitcher bottom, so you can nest them for storage. This is a big advantage over the old style. The new one comes with 2 pitchers. You can turn them both upside-down over the base unit to save even more storage space.

My recomendation: don''t buy the newer 2 quart blue basket model. Hold out for the 3 quart model. And here''s the kickerI found mine at Wal-Mart for $2.00 less than Target was selling the 2 quart model!

Once you get into the habit of drinking iced tea instead of soda, you''ll never go back. The savings in calories, money and hassle of returnable bottles and cans will have you hooked.

I was born and Raised in North Carolina so i know Ice tea especially sweet Ice Tea! I do not drink coffee but I drink 4 gallons of sweet tea on a slow week, and I make it all in one day on the weekend so I have to do it as efficiently as possible! This pot works great to brew the tea easily but god help you if you try to pour it into a glass from the included pitcher! It runs all down the front of pitcher onto the floor, your dog, your feet, etc! Personally I have the older 3qt model with the round pitcher and it works great, but at my urging that newer must be better my mom and dad bought this newly designed model (They were making tea in a pot like grandma did it) Well between my mom, my dad, myself and my wife none of us can pour tea out of this thing without having to wipe down the pot, the counter and even the floor and your feet on occasion! Do not buy this triangular shaped 3qt Ice tea pot, instead buy the one with the round pot. It is also made by MR coffee, and it works quite well both brewing and pouring, no wet feet, no sticky counter and floor. I am willing to bet the engineer that designed this thing never even tried to pour a glass of tea out of it! It looks good, but lacks function. Like I said if you want fast easy ice tea get the Mr coffee 3qt model with the round pitcher and save a lot of hassle and mess! If you have to mop up the counter and floor it defeats the purpose of using a time-saving appliance!

Just wanted to add mine to the list of voices pointing out the the design flaw in this product... which is that the included pitcher is useless for pouring without spilling tea everywhere. I don''t even try anymore unless it''s over the sink... Expect to get rougly 2.5 of the three quarts in your glass.. the rest? floor, counter, pretty much whatever surface was near the glass you were pouring into.

The lid that doesn''t fit and gets tea all over the floor. The fact that tea is down inside double layer pitcher but one more is the fact that after the tea cuts off you need to wait at least fifteen minutes before removing the tea pitcher from under the maker because thats how long it takes for all the tea to drain out of basket. Hot tea running down counters is not a pretty sight.

This product has been redesigned. The new model number is TM30P. The new pitcher is round, and pours easily. The lid is still a bit tight, but no problems so far. Got mine on sale for $17.94, including a second pitcher at a local retailer that begins with a W. ;)

EarthStone Bathstone Cleaning BlockI have a toilet that was so stained from calcium, lime, and two little boys that I was ready to tell my husband it had to be replaced before we sold the condo. I''d already tried standard cleaners and scouring powders. Five minutes with the stone took off 97% of the stains. It was very easy to use. I can''t praise it enough.

Alone on the interwebs I google''d the answer to my question. Found this product at local store, i jizzed. Purchased, drove home as quickly as I could. With little effort it removed the toilet ring. Previous attempts with various cleaning products and scrubbers did not work. This worked with little effort. My life is now turned around. I have a new toilet.

Our hard water had left a disgusting ring around the bowls at the water level, as well as rusty stains along the sides of the bowls where the water enters the bowl.

Bleach? No difference. Scrubbing bubbles, Lysol, Clorox, vinegar? Nada. I was really resigning myself to crummy bowls when I saw this on the shelf at a local BBB.

Like others I wish I had taken before and after photos. With very little work on my part, the rings and rust stains are just 100% gone. The toilets look new. This is one shockingly effective product and I can''t believe that for under $5 my toilets look good as new. LOVE this product and will recommend to everyone with water stain issues.

I know people throw words like "miracle" and "amazing" around pretty freely, but this product truly IS! We tried everything we could find to clean the rust, mineral buildup, etc. from our toilets and shower, but nothing did a satisfactory job until we used BATH STONE! I wish I had taken before and after pictures, to show the AMAZING difference after just a little scrubbing. It is easy to use and Earth-friendly, which is very important in our home. We will ALWAYS have a BATH STONE or two around the house!

For over twenty-five years off and on, we''ve tried to remove iron stains from porcelain toilets that were caused by dissolved minerals in well water. Some chemicals lightened them, and some abrasives removed some of the stains, but nothing worked the first time, and some things didn''t work very well regardless of the number of applications or uses. On a whim, we tried an Earthstone Bathstone cleaning block. One block cleaned two fairly heavily stained toilets completely of the iron stains at the waterline on the first use. The block itself erodes as it cleans, and I''m guessing there''s enough left of our original block to do two lightly stained or one heavily stained toilet.

For persons who are squeamish, please note that the block, while abrasive, did NOT cut standard vinyl gloves which we (well, I) use when painting or pulling poison ivy.

Now, I have to figure out what to do with all the chemicals and cleaning powders I''ve accumulated over the last twenty-five years.

Evolution Robotics Mint Plus Automatic Hard Floor Cleaner Save 15% Off

Evolution Robotics Mint Plus Automatic Hard Floor Cleaner, 5200I use the Mint 5200 to clean the hardwood floor in a 22''x22'' living/dining area and for a separate 9''x15'' kitchen. It does an excellent job despite a large number of obstacles like area rugs, cabinets, dining table, side tables etc. It sometime looks like it will get stuck in some narrow weirdly shaped corner, but it always finds it way out and does not seem to skip anything.

The Mint 5200 comes with two different cleaning pads, one for dry sweeping and one that has liquid reservoir for wet mopping. A set of two reusable clothes to be used with each pad is also provided. I always use the dry sweep mode first and then do wet afterwards.

The setup is pretty straight-forward. The navigation cube goes to corner of the dining table with flashing blue light pointing into the room. Then a cloth is attached to one of the cleaning pads and the Mint is ready to go. Mint first finish the living area, then continue to clean the kitchen before it goes back to its starting point. There is a staircase leading down from the room, and Mint backs away w/o falling, though the manual recommends to block the staircase as a precaution.

The clean up is simple as well. Detach the cloth and recharge the Mint. That''s it.

I have to say that dry sweep mode is ok, but not very impressive. Mint simply rubs the floor with the cloth which get covered in dust quite quickly, and is not really able to absorb "larger" pieces dirt like breadcrumbs. However, this is workable, if the floor is not too dirty to begin with, and some care is taken to remove the "larger" particles first.

In any case, the wet mode is what I need most for my hardwood floor, and I am happy with enough the result. Even with plain water the Mint leaves the floor clean and shiny.

A few tips after 2 months:

Mint spends a lot of time navigating and recalculating the routes when it encounters chairs and obstacles. It takes over 2 hours to dry mop the area mentioned above and not enough power left for finishing the wet mopping. So, I remove chairs from the floor, it greatly speeds up the cleaning process.

Two reasons can cause the liquid reservoir not working properly. I have run into both: 1) the cloth is not wet enough before beginning the wet mopping. Making it wet (but not dripping wet) would solve the problem. 2) the wick cap is clotted. I used diluted Murphy oil (1:100) and noticed that no liquid was dispensed anymore after a few usages. I called Mint Customer Service and learned that one shall not use Murphy oil or any soap based cleaning product as they will clot the wick cap. Since then, I have been using Bona (carried at Home Depot) recommended by the Customer Service, and the liquid is being wicked out nicely.

Before throwing away the clotted wick cap, try to thoroughly rinse it without pulling its fiber. Mine works perfectly fine with Bona after the rinsing.

After using Mint 5200 and Roomba 780 both for 6+ months, I find I like Mint better as it is quiet and less abrasive to the surface. (See my review on Roomba 780). Now I own 2 Mint 5200 to clean multiple floors simultaneously.

We bought the original 4200 mint cleaner a year ago on our laminate flooring and it has been a great helper, no more back breaking manual cleaning under the beds and free us to do other stuff. So we decided to buy the 5200 a month back.

and here are the observations:

Pro:

Much better battery life than 4200, it now covers a lot more area.

Much reduced battery charging time. It takes 7-8 hours for the 4200, not really an issue if you let it charge overnight. The 5200 charges in about 2 hours. Good for those spring cleaning / emergency visitor days.

The universal charger adapter allows for use around the world (or at least here in Singapore: 230v, 13amp) without need to buy step up or down transformers.

The mopping pad containing a water reservoir is surprisingly simple, elegant and effective. Simplicity is the epitome of good design.

Love their included C batteries, wiping and mopping cloths.

As usual, love the option to use disposable swiffer or any dust papers instead of the cloths. You are not limited for choice.

General laminate floor cleaning tips:

Don''t waste money on laminate cleaning products. Water is still the best. Tried it all, horrible mess. back to water.

Don''t use any acidic / alkaline solutions which will damage the rubber ring on the wheels. Stick to water. It''s the best, really.

After seeing all the good reviews for the original 4200 model, we decided to go with the new 5200 model that was released this year. We have a large hardwood floor home and could have used something like this a LONG time ago. It''s quiet, efficient, and does a great job finding it''s way around the house. It''s amazing to watch this thing go into tight spaces and then find it''s way out, it does not miss an inch. We just charge it every night and let it clean and mop during the day and it''s kept our floors spotless. VERY impressed, and well priced.

I think it is a great tool for maintenance of Marmoleum and wood floors. I have the Marmoleum Click, Marmoleum Decibel, wood floors and... dogs. I spritz the pads with a mixture of vinegar and water (that I keep in plastic spray bottles around the house)for quick clean up of the Marmoleum. I choose the sweep feature for a damp mop that I can set and let it do it''s thing. For my wood floors, I have a Murphy''s Oil Soap and water spray bottle and do the same. It isn''t a heavy duty cleaning machine but, for people with pets, I highly recommend it.

We bought this unit and used it for 2 weeks and returned it. We have mostly hard floors in our home, so we used the mopping function only.

First, let me say I did read the instructions and troubleshooting guide in full before and during use. The information did not resolve the issues.

Pros:

1. When it works, it cleans well and thoroughly.

2. Very quiet and unobtrusive

3. Easy to assemble and use

Cons:

1. It sometimes does not work. It just sits there and spins in circles.

2. Has some quirksthe Northstar cube sometimes shuts off for no good reason. The Mint sometimes shuts off and stops cleaning for no good reason.

3. Not a set it and forget deal. We have one living room 20x20 and I had to set it in 3 different sections just for it to clean the entire

room. That''s too much hassle for one room. And yes, I had the Northstar cube placed with the blue light facing the center of the room with a clear line of sight to the ceiling.

Overall, I am disappointed to have to return it. This would be a great timesaver if it worked as advertised. We''ll buy the next iteration of this unit with the hope that it is much improved.

The filters were delivered in three days ( crazy fast ). The description doesn''t say that there are two filter per pack but there is two. This is the best price on the market and it''s the second time that I have ordered from this company and it won''t be the last. I have a well so the water is hard and I use these filters so we can take showers, brush our teeth etc.... and they do a great job. The water softener will not take care of the odor from the water but the filters do.

I love this filter, it reduces the chlorine in the water. I use it with an Omni Whole House filter system.

Tomlinson (1019311) RO Designer Faucet

Tomlinson RO Designer Faucet; Antique BronzeWe bought a house one year ago with a nice RO system in the kitchen. The faucet left something to be desired though. We had a lot of trouble with it and it also didn''t have a lever that could be flipped so that you didn''t have to hold the handle down continuously to get water. We bought this (in satin nickel, which cost us $10 more) from another vendor. We are SO happy that we bought this model. The handle works great, no drips at all after flipping it closed. The water pressure is excellent. And one of the best things about it is how simple it was to install. Our old one had 3 tubes so close together that you could barely get the tubes on and off. This one was installed in about 5 minutes AND had the additional benefit of being either with an air gap or without. Ours DOES need the air gap and when we first looked at it, we thought that they might have made a mistake and sent the wrong faucet. But on looking at the instructions, we saw that this faucet could be used either/or. It is also heavy and appears to be very well constructed. Very pretty but as stated before we bought the SATIN NICKEL faucet. We LOVE it!

Reliable Steamboy T1 Chemical Free H2O Steam Floor Mop

Reliable Steamboy T1 Chemical Free H2O Steam Floor Mop with 6 Microfiber Replacement Pads, Extra Replacement Filter and carpet glideWe have tried several of the comparable units on the market today and found this one to be the best for the $. This is the second unit we have purchased. The first one, we just wore out after about 4 years. We were pleased to be able to order the new one, which has improvements over the last.

We highly recommend this product.

The Steamboy T1 is well constructed and does a fantastic job of cleaning linoleum kitchen floors. It takes a little effort to move around on linoleum and tends to hang-up on slate floors, but, the floor is REALLY CLEAN when you''re finished.

Can''t say anything bad about my new H2O Steam Mop! I had the original for many years of great usage, and when I finally had to replace it, found this Newer model, the Steamboy T1. Read the reviews & decided to stay with this company & glad I did. With the new and improved way the steam is handled, I don''t have the excess water residue. It seems easier to handle, shape is almost the same, just improved with the "replacement filter", which I think is what happened to mine. I never used vinegar to clean out the lime build up, and it finally died. Now I know better & the price was great with the extra pads & filter. Well worth the money, and the ease of usage. Sure saves my back!

Works great. A litle assembly required. Its a bit bulky so its hard to get into tight spaces. But for the large areas its a champ.

I am hard on vacuums, brooms and mops. When I moved into a house with wooden floors, I searched online for the best steamers out there, determined not to buy cheap or get cheap. This one came up as the third best, the other two being too pricey for me. There was a $50 difference between this one and the fourth best, but I wasn''t risking getting cheap. This thing works great, heats up fast, holds the right amount of water, and is simple to use. It was also easy to assemble, and yet still feels solidly put together. It''s hardy, and I''m not afraid I''m gonna break it. Just what I needed.
