BISSELL Auto Care ProHeat Compact Multi-Purpose Deep Cleaner Save 22% Off

BISSELL Auto Care ProHeat Compact Multi-Purpose Deep Cleaner, 14254I have used the Little Green Machine in the past and bought this to use on the cars that I detail and small stains on rugs in the house. I use it for small areas which are soiled with coffee or soda. I bought it because it had a higher amperage rating than the Green Machine. I have used it and it works very well for small areas. The water heater is just OK and I find that using an external source like an external sprayer and brush to loosen and wet the stain/dirt works the best; then I use the Bissell to suck up all the residue. I like the power of the suction and it works well. The dirty water tank has a cut off feature that will "pop" when filled to the limit which is nice, so you won''t overfill it. After using it I clean it out any leftover dirt or stuff in the hose, tank or fittings. I know some reviews have said that it doesn''t work well or clogs, but I have found that taking a little time to clean it out when done will eliminate most of those problems. Good for smaller areas; best to use proper cleaner for the stains.

I''ll start off the review by acknowledging that I haven''t owned the cleaner for very long, and thus, I can''t be certain about possible reliability issues in the future. The machine is easy to use, there is a basin for soap and water and another basin for dirt and dirty water. The power cord was advertised as being longer on this model, and it is a surprisingly long cord.

I used the machine to clean out my s.u.v. Jeep, which hadn''t been vacuumed for months, had rotting chicken on the floor, spilled gasoline, dog smell from my two dogs, and lots of sand from my recent two day hiking trip. The Interior before cleaning smelled strongly of rotted chicken, gasoline and I shudder to think what else. As you vacuum up the disgusting fluids from your automobile''s carpet you can see through the opaque plastic the revolting collection of black water, matted hairballs and clumps of dirt. The fragrance that emanates from my Jeep''s interior is no longer that of petro-chemicals and rotting bird flesh but a light and almost undetectable odor of cleaning detergent. In summation the Bissell product passes my shakedown cruise with flying colors, Amazon has helped my opinion of the product by vending it at such a reasonable price.

Thanks for reading my review.

This was a great find for me, and has all the things I like in a cleaner. It''s got a long cord & is compact enough to use anywhere. The attachments are good, though I wish they came apart for cleaning. No biggie if you rinse it after every use. I love the fact that it warms the water up... warm water always cleans better. It is actually uncomfortably hot when it sprays out, so thats great. Suction is great. No cleaner will ever pick up 100%, but it left even my fabric couch wet for only a day in high humidity. Wouldnt have any other product... I just hope it works for a LONG time!!

We bought this product to use on upholstery & inside vehicles. We used it to clean the entire inside of our van which was quite dirty & it now looks like new. We even did the headliner that had fingerprints on it. Everything is clean now. It did a great job.

We had an old stain from previous owner on our bedroom carpet & had no idea what it was. Other cleanings would remove it but it would come back again after a few days. It''s been over a month since we cleaned it & so far it has not come back.

It''s one of the best investments we have ever made.

it doesnt suck up water as good as hoped for. the heater only works if vacuum is on. so water doesnt heat up any more than what you put in it. i thought i could let it sit and heat up further, it has 2 seperate switches!! but you must turn on vacuum to turn on heater, who wants to hear a vacuum run for 10 more minutes than you have to. poor design flaw in my eyes and EARS!

Cuisinart GF-80-3PK Replacement Filter (3 Pack)

Cuisinart GF-80-3PK Replacement Filter, 3 PackThe taste of water is strong in the beginning but then it subsides. Very economical replacement for bottled water. Overall rating very good.

While the filter is a bit slow, the result is good and we no longer have to schlep bottles or have bottling service use our drive way as storage facility for water bottles.

The taste or rather lack of taste is perfect.

First of all, these came in plastic bag instead of regular Cuisinart Box. Since I have used these filters many times, I thought it was odd. I, then soaked in water as usual (15 min. or so). When I took it out of water, black water came out of the filter. This never happened before. I, then let the water through (in the sink) for about 1/2 hour or so, to make sure clean water will be going through. I, then placed it in the tank. Water will not go through. Next day, I have noticed about 1/2 of top water went through. Then stoped again. I have returned all three to Amazon.com. Since, these did not come in the regular Cuisinart box, I am not sure if it''s real. We are talking about drinking water here. I am ordering from the Cuisinart to avoid fake filter.

Keurig Vue V700 Brewing System Save 30% Off

Keurig Vue V700 Brewing SystemAdmin enjoy your new keurig. It''s easy to use and fast. The coffee is good and we like the brewing strength feature. What we didn''t know is that the k-cups do not fit this maker. We bought a "use your own coffee" re-usable cup and it doesn''t fit. No cups like this fit the Vue.

This Keurig Vue is attractive, a larger water reservoir, and mine came with a water filter. Instructions are very clear and precise. The Keurig was packaged in three boxes. A very large outer box, an inner box that housed Keurig''s own box. It took awhile to get down to the nitty gritty.

The Vue has a color touch screen with menus for selecting the type of Vue pack inserted. Using that menu, you can choose from eight brewing sizes or adjust temperature, water pressure, timing, and airflow settings. Keurig''s has the creation of frothy cafe beverages, such as lattes and cappuccinos, by using a separate coffee and frother Vue pack for each drink. I have the vanilla latte, and the taste is unlike any I have known. Will not try the vanilla latte again!

K-Cups, are not compatible with the Vue brewer, and vice versa-a real negative. I had just purchased a K-Cup holder, and the Vue Cups are too largeanother negative! . Another change is the Vue Packs can be recycleda real positive!

The main characteristic of Keurig Vue is that it''s completely programmable.

Choose coffee/tea/hot chocolate mode

Strength control brew strong or regular coffee.

Temperature control brew a really hot or iced coffee.

Size control choose cup size that you like, the from 4oz to 18 oz.

With new air-infusion you can create frothy cafe drinks.

The lack of Vue Pack availability in my favorite coffee is a drawback. If I had known the Vue Pack was not compatible with the K-Cups, I would not have purchased this Keurig at this time.

I bought this as a birthday present for my wife. She likes the Keurig, but it only makes single serving coffee. She likes to take a travel mug to work with her. We bought this and had it the day it came out in stores. It is ridiculously fast, extremely quiet(despite what others have said), and already has a great variety of coffees, teas, chocolates, etc. The this my wife loves is the lattes with frothers. It actually makes a decent froth! With a big resivoir and many awesome features to come, I am sure, I could n''t be happier with this, and neither could the birthday girl! As soon as they get a reusable "build-your-own" cup, life will be complete when it comes to coffee. And a house happy with their coffee, is truly a happy house!

I love the fact that I can count on my coffee tasting the same every day. I quickly found the brew I liked best and now I enjoy it every day. And my grandkids like making hot chocolate with it.

The only thing I would change about it is that it is a little noisy when brewing.

I have used Keurig (K-cups) at work but never wanted one at home until now! The Vue is awesome! Starbucks French Roast as it should be! Hot, strong, and at least 12oz.

The old K-cup technology never provided a truly good cup of coffee unless you did less than 8oz. Who wants a shot of coffee. The Vue takes the cake! I will have this machine for a long time!

Swift Green Filters SGF-F1 Refrigerator Water Filter
  • Tested and certified by the Water Quality Association to NSF/ANSI Standard 42
  • Reduces chlorine taste and smell as well as sediment
  • Produces cleaner, better tasting drinking and cooking water
  • 100% Compatible with water filter models: RC-101, RC-200, RF200, RF-200, SWFCB

It''s a little difficult to review this product. I was hesistant to purchase this because I''ve been so use to getting the actual Frigidaire Pure Source filters. However, the original filters are so expensive for no reason. Plus, when I compare the specs on Pure Source vs Swift Green, the Swift Green reduces more particulates. And not to mention it''s much cheaper. So I took a risk and purchased a 3 pack. But, I''m so use to drinking bottled water that anything outside of that tastes weird. But I must say the water comes out clear and tastes ok. My ice cubes are no longer frosty and doesn''t have a bad smell.

Buy Swift Green Filters SGF-F1 Refrigerator Water Filter Now

There are a number of external factors in the success of a filter cartridge-you can''t just compare them on the numbers or assume that this filter work the same in my fridge as it does in yours. You have the the quality of water going into it, the volume of water going through it, the length of time the water sits in plastic and or copper tubing before and after filtering, how long the filter has been in use (as a proportion of it''s total useful life). That last is a big one, because it depends entirely on operating environment. A manufacturer''s recommendation to replace after a specific amount of time (e.g. 6 months) simply MUST be arbitrary and bear no relationship to performance in your specific circumstances. So, reading the comments here I was of two minds but then decided that (a) my own circumstances are pretty much optimal, and (b) the price difference was such that I wasn''t risking much. The filter bore all this out and I will come back and give it the fifth star if it lasts as long as it should.

We replaced our old refrigerator filter with this product and immediately ''tasted'' the difference. The were very disappointed that the water tasted so bad. Zerowater Replacement Filters (2-pack)

Zerowater Replacement Filters - WhiteI have used these filters (ZR-017) for about two years and they seem to work well. They filter to zero on the enclosed tester for a very long time with our extremely hard water. They eliminate hard water spots on the stainless steel pet fountain which means they really are filtering out a huge amount of minerals. One spot would ordinarily create a white crusty ring that requires Lime-A-Way treatment to remove without scratching the surface with abrasives.

It tastes a lot better also. I like to keep the pitcher in the refrigerator in case that may lessen the possibility of bacterial growth, as our water is well water and not treated.

This replacement filter is working well so far. The reason I didn''t give it five stars is because at first the water tested a 3. But after puting it through the filter again it tested a zero. The filter that came with the pitcher didn''t last long before the reading went way up, so I am hoping that this filter lasts much longer. Time will tell.

  • This ready-to-use, high-tech formula was created to clean stainless steel surfaces of smudges, streaks, fingerprints, and water stains and protected from spills and daily wear and tear

  • The non-toxic formula doesn''t build up on surfaces so it''s perfect for everyday use, and safer for use around your family and pets
  • It also provides an anti-static surface that resists dust, water spots and finger marks

I am a huge fan of Simple Green, and use it for everything. I thought the Simple Green stainless steel cleaner would be just as good, but I was disappointed.

It''s not a bad cleaner, it''s just that it''s really no better than any others that are out there. It requires a lot of elbow grease, and doesn''t remove all the stains. I actually find it easier to use another (nastier) regular cleaner to clean it first, and then use this product more as a polish.

The thing is, as a polish, it''s not perfect, either. It''s very hard to buff to an even shine.

The main positive about this product is that it''s completely non-toxic. You can work with it without any type of ventilation. Safe around kids, pets, etc.

It makes my other appliances and stainless steel sink look great. I am very happy with this product and would recommend it to others. It can be found at the big box store with the orange lettering.

Bobble 64-Ounce Jug with Filter Save 46% Off

Bobble 64-Ounce Jug with Filter, WhiteThis jug does seem to filter water a bit faster than the brita models. Taste is outstanding, it definitely improves the quality of my tap water. Design is a bit odd, but I didn''t find it nearly as frustrating as the other reviewer.

Water tastes great, easy to fill, cant expect much more! I am not sure why others had such a hard time filling this, but it may be that they had the water on full blast. You definitely have to let the water trickle in or I simply fill a water bottle and pour accordingly. As for the complaint about having to lift up the spout flap, yes you do need to do this but i find it a little ridiculous to complain about the combined second it takes to open and close. As a matter of fact I have found this to be a help! Twice now the container has been dropped. Not only did the container itself hold up well, but that little flap stayed closed and not a drop of water spilled. I have had this product for 2 months now and am very happy with it.

All in all, this filter jug is easy to use and does its job. You insert the filter, then pour the water through the filter into the water jug -it filters through at a steady pace and fills the jug up in less than 30 secs. At least, this is how I fill the jug. Others may choose to remove the filter holder (which is not the way this jug seems to designed for) and pour the water directly into the jug. I understand the previous poster''s comment about the flap that closes over the lip of the jug. It doesn''t work very well. I just leave it open.

BISSELL ProHeat 2X Select Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner Save 4% Off

BISSELL ProHeat 2X Select Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner, 9400MI am a 52 year old widow with 4 grown children, and I''ve always had at least one dog; now with the kids gone I have 3 small dogs. This is the third carpet cleaner I''ve purchased over 15 years. The first was a Hoover, and though I thought it worked fine, advances over the years have made big improvements both in the machines'' ability to clean, and their design.

My second machine was the old version of this machine, which was 5 years old, and still working, but one of the kids borrowed it, and when I stressed the importance of cleaning after use, she went nuts and disassembled the thing to clean it (totally unnesessary), and it came back not working well. Obvious user problem, not the machine''s fault.

So, I ordered the 9400 Select, which arrived promptly from Amazon, quickly assembled it, and went to work in the bedroom. With 3 dogs, I clean the carpet every 3 months. My dogs are potty trained, but they are dogs, after all, and unlike me they can''t remove dirty shoes when they enter the house. Amazing what 12 little feet can track in to a carpet! So, between my normal use, and the dogs, I am always looking for the best machine.

I am going to post some pictures of the things mentioned, if this site allows... By the way, the room I did first and will base these comments on is a 12x15 foot bedroom, with very light colored carpeting. Some reviewers expressed frustration with the fuzzballs that can get left behind. Yes, this machine does that. It is old carpet, dog fur, and dirt. It is confined, slightly damp, and picks up easily. In this room there were maybe 12 chunks of this stuff, which were picked up as I went along. Not slimy, didn''t require toweling or gloves.

Next, one reviewer said the machine leaks dirty water spots all over. Again, the machine at the end of a pull does leave some water spots. As soon as you go over the pull again, they are sucked up, leaving no spots in the wake. When I am changing the dirty water tank and refilling the bladder, I always throw a towel under the machine for the few minutes I am away. This is a water/detergent based machine; of course some excess might drip out when it is stationary. All of my machines did this, so I don''t even think of it as unusual.

As for not knowing when the bladder is empty and needs refilling, I did not hear the "pop" some reviewers did, but I didn''t need to stop and check the level, either. I just paid attention when pulling the trigger for the cleaning mode, and if nothing was being sucked up when trigger is released and it is in suction mode, which one can easily see through the clear design, I know there is nothing going out, and it''s time to throw out the old water and refill the bladder. In this room, I take an hour or so to clean it properly. People who want a 10 minute clean are going to get exactly that. It takes months, sometimes years for carpeting to get dirty, but some folks want it to be cleaned in 10 minutes. I just don''t get that. The trick is that though this is a very easy machine to use, the key is in going SLOWLY, and allowing the machine to do what it was designed to do. Get the fibers wet/soapy; then let the brushes get down deep, suck up the slop the machine cleaned, then turn the dial to rinse only (I always do this, though many don''t, because in my opinion detergent residue left behind becomes a magnet of sorts for dirt once the carpet is dry). In any case, to do the job right, this room took me about an hour. Time well spent, with excellent results. Cleanup is a breeze. Take the bladder/ takeup container, empty it, then pour water through the take up holder to get any remaining dirty water out. This takes all of about 1 minute.

If my trend of getting a new cleaner about every 5 years continues, and in that time I use the machine 20 times, this is a bargain.

I am thrilled with the results this machine gives, and highly recommend it. I guess the only other issue I could address is the storage, and I do understand that it is slightly bulkier than a traditioner vaccuum cleaner, and if one doesn''t have a spare closet it could be a problem. In this house, it just rests under the basement staircase, ready and waiting to be called into action again.

I have been through the ringer with carpet cleaners and stain removers. We have a dog that vomits about once a week. Unfortunatley, he does not do this on our wood floor, which comprises most of our house, but rather he prefers to stain our carpet. I think it is the law with him.

Anyways, I had no luck with the SpotBot I purchased so I was a little reluctant to try another Bissell Product. I saw the good ratings for the 9400 and figured I would give it a shot.

It seems to have everything one could need on a steam cleaner and it even includes Scotchgard Protection. I tried the Bissell on a tough stain that had set in for a couple of months. Nothing could get it out not even the Rug Doctor from the supermarket.

At first the Bissell did not totally get it out. So I tried it again with the hottest water I could get and heated the water with the built-in heater. Sure enough it got it out like a charm. I think Chem-Dry will have to find another customer now!

Steam cleaners are kind of a pain to use with all the filling of tanks and solutions and they usually soak your carpet. But I finally found something that can get up just about any stain and leave my carpet clean as a whistle. We have a winner!

Buy BISSELL ProHeat 2X Select Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner Now

I''ve been wanting to steam clean our carpets in our house for a number of years now. We had them professionally cleaned before moving in (8 1/2 years ago!!). Three kids, a dog, and a cat later have reduced our carpets to what I thought, was their last legs. The carpets are probably 12 years old (they were not new when we moved in, I am guessing here).

We have carpeting in our kitchen, our kitchen table rests on the carpet. You can imagine how dirty they look(ed) after years of spilled milk, cereal, wine, ketchup, etc... We had planned on ripping them up and putting in tile or Pergo in the next few years.

So this past week our dog gets sick and really puts me over the edge here. I decide to rent one of those "Rug Doctors" at the grocery store. However, I realize that it will take days for me to clean all the carpets and I really don''t want to have to shuttle the Rug Doctor back and forth to the grocery store (about 15 20 mins away). On a whim, I check out the reviews on Amazon and find that the Bissell 9400 is the real deal. There is even a reviewer mentioning his sick dog.

So I decide to go with the Bissell.

It was very well packaged, little boxes for all the accessories (there are a ton of them). There is even a mesh bag full of various cleaners (wish I knew that before I bought $60 worth of cleaners!!). The Bissell goes together in about 10 minutes (including the time it took to locate my screwdriver).

I used the Bissell "Pet Strength" cleaner, taking two bottles to do two rooms (wayyy more than is required, but these were dirty carpets!!).

It is a slow process, you have to push the cleaner forward, depressing the trigger. Move slowly, then pull back with the trigger depressed. A few passes more will remove the moisture.

I didn''t count the number of times I had to empty the resovoir and fill the water & cleaner. It certainly was a breeze to do.

This first pass took me some 3 hours to do, but was well worth it. I am willing to bet that this will go faster now that they have been recently cleaned!

I noticed a huge difference before they even dried!! The carpets were no longer soiled, almost all the food stains had been removed, the nap was much fluffier. I pulled out about a large handfull of cat/dog/human hair that the brushes spit up( This is normal and nothing to worry about, its much better in the trash than ground back into the carpet).

Once they dried (overnight) and after a pass with our Kirby, they looked incredible!!

My daughter walked barefoot on the cleaned carpet and on one in our family room (that is scheduled for next week). She said the clean one was a lot more cushier.

When I walk in the house now, I am greeted by a nice scent (there is a scent in the pet-strength cleaner) and a very clean-looking carpet!

I intend to clean our furniture as well as the rest of all the carpets. I''m beginning to believe that this will help with our allergies too....

If you are on the fence about this, go for it! You will not be sorry.

Oh, I mentioned above and will restate it. Do NOT use this like a vacuum cleaner, pushing and pulling at a fast clip. Go slow!! You will reap the benefits..

Update: 8 Apr 2006

Still very happy that we got this. Last weekend I completed the cleaning of all the original carpets in our home. I had to do all of our Master Bedroom in 3 passes (moved furniture around) because the pets loved to sleep under the bed, beside the dresser, etc). Before last weekend, the only "Original Carpet" uncleaned was the Master BR. The difference in smell when walking into the Bedroom was noticeable. (Before cleaning). We never noticed the pet odor because we were ''used'' to it throughout the house. Once I cleaned the rest of the house, the odor in the remaining room stood out.

After cleaning the Bedroom, I''ve noticed a very signifigant impact (for the better) on my allergies. Cleaning the carpets under the bed where we sleep made a huge difference.

On another note, I cleaned a pet stain (from where our dog was sick) in my daughter''s room. The carpet in there is only 6 months old. I couldn''t believe the hair it picked up! I originally thought I could bypass all the new carpeting, but am in the process of cleaning all the new carpeting too!

OK, in case you haven''t guessed it... This was by far the best $250 I''ve ever spent!

I didn''t think a cheap, inexpensive, household extractor would do a good job, but I was wrong. It does a great job. The spinning brissles do the trick, they really spin fast. It scrubs stains out better than a washing machine can get stains out from clothing. My friend uses this thing for house cleaning and she has been told many times that she does a better job than the carpet cleaning companies around our area. Reviewers mentioned the exhause being a design flaw because it breathes into the carpet. It is not a flaw, the warm air assists in drying the carpet. The turbo paw is fairly well built, it doesn''t spin as quickly as the main brissles but it does much better than just a regular scrubber. I think peoples'' expectations of the turbo paw are set high after seeing the floor extractor in action. I thinks it''s great esspecially for $225. Can''t top it.

ONE TIP: After shampooing, you may want to go over the carpet one final time to get any excess water from the carpet, turn your heater OFF. The heater draws from the 12 amp motor which steals power from the sucking mechanism.

Very easy to use...just like vacuuming. It cleans so much better than the rental cleaners. With what I paid to have my carpets professionally cleaned twice a year, I paid for it in six months.

  • Removes chlorine, dirt, odors and more
  • For use with Sprite Slim-Line shower filters
  • NSF certified
  • Filter rated for 6 months or 10,000 gallons whichever comes first

I decided to review this product in detail after seeing four positive reviews and the one bad one. If a product has dozens of reviews and my experiences agree with them I don''t bother. I''ve already installed one of these in the three bathrooms in my home (along with a low-ER flow showerhead to save some money at the same time). Installation took five minutes or less with the right tools, necessary to remove your showerhead from the pipe. For the actual filter installation no tools are needed as you just hand tighten it. They include teflon plumber''s tape so you don''t need any supplies.

I believe one reviewer wondered whether this would reduce the flow of a showerhead. I went with the 25% less than standard, 25% more than true low-flow Delta model (1.85GPM) that''s got 200-plus reviews and a rating above four stars. Users of the previous installed unit really like the combined setup. Looking carefully at the filter though I suppose it may reduce water pressure ''downstream'' at the showerhead somewhat, and Gallons Per Minute as result. The literature claims the standard 2.5GPM though.

I''d say the amplifying turbine design of the Delta Faucet model is a better choice than a 1.5GPM ordinary showerhead as 1.5GPM showerheads already draw mixed reviews. Any reduction below 1.5GPM from this filter would probably be noticeable, and while Al Gore would commend you for being so green it could very well negatively impact the quality of your shower. I wonder a little about the 2.5GPM claim as the filter takes up the whole space inside the housing and is densely packed with what looks like copper-ish metal shavings/flecks. And as it gets close to needing the filter replaced will it still put out the same GPM as when newly installed? Note that whatever the stuff is in the filter I seriously doubt it would end up in your water stream as the filter''s screen is tightly woven.

For those not in the know, apply the the teflon tape so it will stretch WITH the direction you''re tightening the fitting/fixture. I hadn''t noticed the product literature in the bottom of the hassle-free-to-open box on the first one I bought as it''s brown like the cardboard. Turns out in addition to plumber''s tape you get a cling sticker (like an oil change reminder sticker)with a number to call for replacement filters. The enclosed product information is INCREDIBLY DETAILED, and here goes supplying all of it:

It claims this filter removes more chlorine than any other model, reminds you to thread the teflon tape clockwise, and includes an exploded diagram, which shows the optional showerhead this company sells (not that you''d think getting their model gives you an advantage over a well-reviewed alternative). It claims to remove 75% of free chlorine for six months or 5000 gallons, whichever comes first.

It says it removes "Combined Chlorine (Sodium Hypochlorite) and Hydrogen Sulfide the latter of which they say causes an odor in the water, but they don''t give percentages for the last two. They list it as tested and certified by "NSF International" to remove the 75% of free chlorine, whoever NSF is. It says their system removes more chlorine "at a wider temperature range." Maximum operating temperature is 120 degrees and maximum pressure it''ll tolerate is 125 lbs per square inch. And a tiny disclaimer that "actual performance may vary." It says NSF International has NOT tested the product''s ability to reduce free chlorine "in the presence of chloramines" if this stuff is used to treat your water. There are some "Notes on NFS Test Protocol" but it''s quite technical, though a useful data point about NSF standards is a passing test result removes 50% of free chlorine (compared to their 75% result). Lots of useful information for a smallish pamphlet.

The design of the plastic outer housing seems to indicate that when replacing the filter either the whole unit will readily unscrew from the pipe, making it easier to unscrew the two halves of the housing if they''ve become tight with use, or the showerhead portion will unscrew alone. Either way the filter would then be easily replaced assuming you installed it correctly (and I wonder if the one-star reviewer used installed it right). The filter only fits one way inside the housing so it''s a foolproof design, and the housing appears to be high-impact/sturdy plastic. It says ''Slim Line'' in raised white letters on the side of the filter facing the showerhead, a minor nuisance for me as I don''t like looking at a product label in my house so I installed the filter to face down and not be visible to the user.

The filter needs to be ''activated'' upon entering the shower by turning on the water to "Full Hot." The unit only adds the 1.5 inches to your shower pipe length by recessing inward the side facing the shower pipe, and the resultant shape of the unit is what makes the filter impossible to install backwards. By the way their optional showerhead includes a "flow restricter" in the diagram (looks like a washer you''d put on a bolt) that''s not included with this unit, though they don''t list the GPM of their showerhead in the description.

A lot of detail I know but the description on Amazon doesn''t explain all of the features and specs and hopefully this is helpful. The disclaimer about "actual performance may vary" looks like boilerplate their lawyer insisted on, and they have no way of knowing how closely your water matches the NSF test protocl. The one question mark about this unit is "Chloramine" treated water not having been tested for free chlorine reduction. I''ll probably ask my water company if they use chloramine, and if so look for one that has been tested and rated for it as free chlorine is apparently the important thing to remove. I''d send my second unit back if I can find a different model that resolves the chloramine issue.

Supposedly you''ll notice whether a chlorine filter works by whether your skin doesn''t get dried out as much as an unfiltered shower, plus you avoid the health issue of inhaling aerosolized chlorine. Chloramine is a question mark hanging over an otherwise thoroughly impressive product in design, fit and finish, plus detailed explanation and instructions. Haven''t priced replacement filters but looks like quite a bargain. If they''d tested it in the presence of chloramine to assure the buyer that it''ll still work I''d rate it five stars.

This is definitely not a double pack, it is a filter and the plastic housing. Very misleading! The description needs to be corrected. I was expecting 2 replacement filters, not what I received.Sprite Slim Line Filter Cartridge 2-pack

I found I had facial muscle twitches over 15 years ago and searched for the cause. Turns out it was chlorine in the water everytime I took a shower I was doing damage. Also, my skin would be very dry afterwards. Getting one of these ended the symptoms. Worth every penny to me.

I did indeed order filter cartridges to fit my existing filter. I was online today confirming that fact because today the order arrived. It was a whole new filter. Our crappy water supply will go through this filter in a matter of weeks, which is why I wanted two filter cartridges....so I didn''t have to do this goose chase again. Amazon will not be where I find my next filter cartridge.

Not much to say except this filter does exactly what it''s suppose too. I''ve used these filters for 6 months and a few up to a year to treat our drinking water. Our water comes from a community well that is heavily chlorinated. After the water goes through this filter it removes all detectable traces of chlorine. Water smells fresh and is chlorine free. Great product!

The GAC1-SS charcoal water filter gives our family the best-tasting water that we''ve ever had !! We all agree that our undersink Dual-Element Water Filter by OMNI delivers crystal-clear water that tastes better than the "trendy" bottled waters at just a tiny fraction of the cost !!

Our family went through hundreds of packs and cases of various brands of bottled water over the years, lugging cases of water from the supermarket or wherever to the car and then to the house -where it had to be stored until used, and then the empties had to be sorted from the trash -and on and on and on -ENOUGH, already !!

I installed an OMNI Dual-Element undersink unit that taps off of the cold water line. The line from the filter feeds the OMNI Lead-Free (white, durable plastic) spout that opens easily, works smoothly, and shuts off completely drip-free.

I use 2 of the GAC1-SS elements in the filter housing, being careful to load them one-at-a-time --inlet side first. This allows the elements to "clear" sooner, so not as much water is lost when the initial "air purge" begins. A few minutes to purge the air from the lines and the new cartridges, and you''ll have sparkling-clear water that tastes great -with absolutely NO icky "plastic bottle" after-taste.

Our water source is the City of Phoenix Water Department and the quality of the water varies by the particular source of the day (well, CAP canal, reservoir).

After installing our OMNI Dual-Element filter, we can enjoy our water with confidence -knowing that we''re saving big bucks and eliminating a ton of time-consuming hassles with our double-filtered, odorless, tasteless, and crystal clear water.

These cartridges are the latest version of the GAC Series, and are a BIG improvement over the earlier models.

I''ve tried other brands of charcoal filters, but they failed for various reasons -The GAC1-SS is longer-lasting, and the new "Full Flow" design gives maximum flow without "channeling".

As for how long the GAC1-SS filters last -I can''t honestly say, and I don''t bleeve anybody else can, either, ''cause it depends on how much water your family drinks and what is in the water that you''re filtering, too.

My present set of cartridges will be changed after 2 years, even though the water tastes just as good as when the elements were new !!

I got 6 of ''em ''cause the price is way down -and these things are getting very hard to find !!

If you''re a penny-pincher like me, but you still have to have the best-tasting water -ya better get busy and get these filters right away !!

My shipment arrived promptly and in perfect condition. Thanks, Amazon !!

Crane Warm Mist Humidifer Save 26% Off

Crane EE-5200B FFP Crane Warm Mist Humidifier, Black, 1 GallonI''ve been using humdifiers for years and have tried every type. The cool mist ones mildew up quickly and the wicks are expensive. The ultrasonics are nice, but unless you use distilled water, you run the risk of breathing in bacteria from tap water, since the mist is cool and the water and any particulates that are in the water are nebulized into the air. The warm mist are the best, since the water is boiled and only the steam escapes. I have used many brands of warm mist humidifiers over the years... Holmes, Duracraft, and Honeywell. This Crane model is THE BEST yet. It hasn''t leaked once. The tank size is adequate for a medium sized bedroom. I run mine on the low setting and it goes for 12 hours easily. The operation is quiet. The other brands I''ve tired all have the same basic design... the heating element is round with a hole in the middle and is difficult to scrub on all sides if there is a lot of hard water build up. This design has a solid heating element built into the bottom of the unit and can be scrubbed easily with a brush to remove build up. There is some basic weekly maintenance required, but it''s not difficult. You need to use distilled white vinegar to dissolve build up and disinfect. One thing I don''t particularly like is the blue light that comes on when the unit is turned on. It''s not bright enough to light up the whole room (kind of like a night-light), but for folks who like 100% pitch-black when they sleep, this may not be for you. I''m glad I found this brand and model. For the price, it''s a great machine.

I needed humidifiers for a couple of rooms and I wasn''t sure whether to go with this Crane humidifier or the Vicks V745A. Both had pretty good reviews, had similar capacities, were about the same price, etc. So I picked up the Vicks model at a local store, and I ordered the Crane from Amazon.

Both models are very similar in the way they generate steam, but there are a couple of significant differences that makes me prefer the Vicks model over the Crane.

For starters, the low setting of the Crane outputs about the same amount of steam as the high setting of the Vicks, and it turns out that the Crane is a 400 watt unit, while the Vicks is only about 275 watts. I keep the Crane on its low setting overnight in the bedroom, and the water tank is almost empty by morning. The Vicks needs to be on its high setting to go through the same amount of water in the same period of time.

Second, the design of the water tank on the Crane makes it harder to fill than on the Vicks. Neither one has a tank that will fit under my bathroom sink faucet, so I have to fill them in the shower. And although the filler hole on the Crane is wider, it lacks a handle like the Vicks model has, and filling it under the shower faucet is kind of awkward.

Next, once the tank is in place on the Crane model, the bottom of the tank sits in a lot more water than does the Vicks. Not sure this is really a problem, but when you remove the tank for cleaning (there''s both daily and weekly cleaning recommended for both), it drips more water on the floor. Also, the filler cap on the Crane has developed a little bit of a musty odor, and again I''m not sure if it''s from sitting in more water on a constant basis.

Finally, I find the Crane model to be a bit more difficult to clean than the Vicks. The space around the heating element is much narrower, making it hard to wipe around with a cloth. The Crane also accumulates more rust deposits than the Vicks, which is probably because of its higher wattage heating element.

On the plus side, this humidifier does put out a lot of steam. On the negative side, I woke up in the middle of the night with my bedroom full of acrid smoke.

The heating mechanism became dislodged and burned a hole in the plastic bottom of the unit before I woke up, unplugged it, threw it in the bathtub and doused it with the remaining water in the reservoir. The smell was awful but it did wake me up before my rug caught on fire. So, that''s nice.

Had only had it a few months when it caught fire.

Probably won''t be buying Crane products again.

I ordered two of this humidifiers from Amazon later last year, they were used for around 3-4 months so far. This year we started to use them again, but with the first time using, I got smoke from one of them. I opened up the bottom cover, found the heater part melted the plastic in the bottom. This unit was in my kid room, couldn''t image what would happen if adult was not there that time!!!! I checked back another unit, saw similar problem, the symptom was not so serious yet, but no doubt, it will get smoke and fire very soon. This product has fire danger, manufacture should recall this product!!

I had purchased a larger humidifier from a big box store that quit working after 1 week. I then saw the horrible reviews it got on Amazon and rolled my eyes at myself for not just buying here in the first place. I lost my receipt for the other one so it couldn''t even be returned. So I bought this one from Amazon after searching reviews and comparing prices, plus if it broke I knew I''d have an easy return! Ok, enough about how much I love Amazon! Back to the Crane warm mist. I got the black one and it''s really a nice looking little machine! Very sleek. It was easy to set up, and easy to fill. I noticed it last 6-7 hours on 2 (high), and over 12 hours on 1 (low). Even low puts out a very nice stream of steam. My last warm mist barely changed the humidity level in my room while this one took my room (about 12x14 with maybe 15ft vaulted ceilings) from almost no humidity (20%) to a nice 44% after running on low all night. Its been about a week and I can already tell the difference in my skin and hair. Cleaning is very simple, nothing to take apart, just take off the water container, add vinegar water, let it sit, drain, rinse. Same for the water container. As for the light, I will admit it''s annoying, but I put a dvd case in front of it as someone else suggested (I like darkness when I sleep). As for the noise, I sleep with a fan year round for white noise, and this is about the same noise as my newer model tower fan. It''s a consistent quiet steam noise. I do wish they made a larger model so I could use in larger open spaces in the house, but for the price, this is definitely a great machine with style and effectiveness! I''d recommend this to any of my friends!
