Things to know:
1. Before you buy any distiller you need to understand something distillers use a substantial amount of electricity, more than 3kw hours/gallon. That''s not unique to this distiller but if you buy one without understanding this fact, you''ll be in for serious sticker shock when you get your next electric bill.
2. There are a few plastic parts the feed tube, the charcoal filter, the drip tube, and some of the internals of the spout.
3. I replaced the plastic feed tubing with copper tubing and did not use the in-line charcoal filter. We chose instead to have a whole-house charcoal filter and water softening installed. I definitely recommend soft water if you can it will greatly reduce the maintenance. There is a short length of silicon rubber tubing between the intake valve and the boiling chamber inside the unit, but silicon rubber is pretty inert and it''s upstream of the boiling chamber, so we decided to leave it.
4. It''s a little bit of a chore to get to the boiling chamber to clean it out, but the side spout to drain and flush the system is conveniently located.
5. This is a large unit, plan for space.
We''re very happy with the unit, it''s an impressive addition to our kitchen.

This wrench is very cheap and should be made of thicker/tougher material as it broke the first time I used it.It cracked at the narrowest point right next to the handle. The filter housing tends to get extremely tight over
time and this will not do you any good at getting it off. Bad investment.

I live in a house with 2500 square feet of tile. After years of watching my white grout slowly fade to shades of gray, it was time to invest in something more effective and industrial than my mop and bucket. It''s easy to clean tiles, but so far nothing was effective against my dirty grout. I had a carpet cleaning company quote me 50 cents a square foot to clean all the tiles/grout in the house. The Viva E40 checks in at $900 shipped, a discount over my $1250 cleaning quote. Buying a steamer was an easy choice.I debated over several different steam cleaning machines. The choice to select a Reliable Enviromate product was the result of a phone call I made to their headquarters. Confused about which of their four core steamers to buy, I placed a call to ask about the differences. They were so helpful and informative that I felt comfortable with them as a company. Definitely someone who I''d like to do business with. The Viva E40 was the most expensive of the four I reviewed, but the commercial grade components, 5 year warranty, and continuous steam technology (never have to truly stop when cleaning to wait for a boiler to cool down) made the difference.
Out of the box, it took 10 minutes of instruction reading to get started. Everything hooked up easily and I was off and running. My first test was using the wand wrapped in a cleaning towel on the tile floors. With little effort, the steamer broke through sticky, dirty spots to leave a gleaming, clean floor. Did I mention you only need water, no chemicals? Next up was the grout. After a few minutes I realized it made sense to clean the grout first. I attached the nylon brush to the steamer tip and dug in. Holy crap, the dirt and grime started beading away from the grout. Charcoal colored grout suddenly transformed to the chalky white I remember from years ago. In fact, so much dirt and grime pooled to either side that I was constantly following the steamer with a rag to wipe up the nastiness (lest it reset in the grout). I then finished the floor with the steam wand.
I switched the from the nylon brush tip to the brass tip that came with the steamer. This was even more effective. With a little pressure application, I was ripping through the dirty grout twice as fast as before. Sadly, after several hours of this, the brass tip wore down to a nub and was useless. I then switches to the steel brush tip. This was as effective as the brass, but seemed to strip away the enamel from the tile. Based on that experience, I''d recommend using the brass tip on grout for best results.
Anxious to clean more, I am stuck waiting on an order of brass tips from Reliable Corp. And they''re not cheap. I ordered four more tips at $10 each, plus $21 shipping (they''re in Canada). Also, the cleaner comes with only two towels for the steam wand. Extra towels are $4 each from Reliable, which I think is silly. I ordered a pack of commercial bar towels from Amazon and hope that''ll do the trick (25 pack for $27). You''ll want to change these regularly.
It took me six hours to clean about 800 square feet of tile, and it wore me out. Keep in mind I''m catching up on years worth of dirt and grime. It''s going to take me another 12 hours of cleaning to get the rest of the house, but with results like this I don''t mind. I have no regrets thus far about purchasing this steamer.
Pro: Looks nice. Good steam for a couple of hours. Nice attachments.
Con: Died after a couple of hours of light use. Machine would just keep alarming for empty water tank even though it was full. I had to turn it on and off about 5 times when first used to get the tank pump to prime. The pump would run for a few seconds then give up. The only way to get it to pump again was to cycle the power. Unfortunately this stopped working after the second refill.
Cheap labeling on the sides started to peel off almost immediately.
I contacted the manufacture who offered no help.
Returned for refund.
I replaced this with a Daimer steamer. All steel with retro look. Smaller than the VIVA and works very well.
I still love Amazon just not this steamer.

This machine stopped working after approximately five months. It started to beep continuously to signal that it was "out of water." However, the water container was full! I was told by the online retailer in Roswell, Georgia that I would have to contact the manufacturer, Reliable, in Toronto, Canada. They Reliable Tech Support person was unable to fix the problem over the phone, and I was given a RMA number to send the steam cleaner at MY EXPENSE of $89.95 to the Reliable Repair Center in Toronto, Canada.After approximately three weeks, I emailed Reliable in Toronto, Canada to inquire if they had received the steam cleaner. They replied that they had, and that the steam cleaner was in the mail back to me. Upon receiving the SUPPOSEDLY repaired STEAM CLEANER, I loaded it with water and turned the steam cleaner on IT STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IT WAS NOT REPAIRED. I immediately contacted Reliable, and they emailed that I had to speak via a telephone call with same Tech Support person that previously could NOT fix the steam cleaner.
I also emailed the online retailer in Roswell, Georgia retailer regarding the steam cleaner''s demise, and they replied back that "Unfortunately, your request falls outside of the 30-day window. All warranty service for original customers is provided by the manufacturer of the product purchased. Our records indicate that you purchased on 4/30/2012." I thought that was "rich" as even though I did purchase the steam cleaner on 4/30/2012, I did not receive it until mid May 2012. By then half the 30 day warranty was used up.
With sales tax, I paid over $1,000 dollars, and I would like my money refunded. Reliable will NOT pay, and the online retailer has indicated that they are no longer responsible. Hence, I am out over $1,000 dollars.
Then to add further insult, my cleaning person indicated that she likes the Shark Steam Cleaner better. May I add that the Shark Steam Cleaner was considerably less expensive to purchase. The Reliable steam cleaner was only used every other week so you might say it has a short working life span.
Reliable is located in Toronto, Canada sending it to Toronto to be repaired is very expensive. If they would have repaired it, I would not be writing this email.
NO, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE RELIABLE E40 STEAM CLEANER!!

Whirlpool WHER25 Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System
Ok...so I''m not the person that''s concerned about taste. In fact...most of you reading this don''t care about why Reverse osmosis filtering is important for an aquarium....but let me begin on the basics.1. Yes it wastes somewhere between 4-5 gallons for every 1 gallon it filters.
2. It does take up under the sink space...if your not at all good with plumbing and don''t hire a professional.
3. The filters run about 100$ for a full set 1 pre-filter, 1 post-filter, and 1 Reverse Osmosis filter.
Note: they say you will need to replace every 6 months...If you have hard water and can smell it from the tap, you will likely have to change the filter more often. If you have relatively good clean water the filter could last a year.
4. WHY I USE IT: The option of getting a Reverse Osmosis unit not only softens the water, but removes 99.5% of the bad chemicals in your tap. Chlorine, Chloramine, Flouride...etc. I have special fish that need clean soft water this is the best way to get it.
Now I tried the Home Depot GE version (same price) and let me tell you....it was the shoddiest, cheap, and in the end worthless unit. I took it back after the tank nut cracked while it was pressurizing...only to find out it was also missing a 2 important seals. I returned it and headed to Lowes...

Easy to install (if your not too concerned about how it looks)

Saves money in the long run (for me it paid for itself in a month...but then I use it for large aquariums)
Cons :
If your not handy putting things together, you''ll need a plumber but you can then have all the equipment setup in your basement or garage out of the way.
It does waste 4-5 gallons per 1 gallon of drinking water, but once it fills up the attached tank it stops the process.
If you absolutely need to get an RO unit at a budget price, this is the unit you want to buy. I never considered ''whirlpool'' a quality product over ''GE'', but this is one very large exception to that rule. If you have a larger budget, you might consider some of the large setups they are more efficient over time and a bit more convenient if you need more that 2.5 gallons at a time.
Have had mine for 5 years and only changed membrane once. I''m connected to city water and move the post filter to the pre spot and put on a new post filter about every 6 months or so. The pre filter needs to remove big items, the RO membrane removes the disolved solids and the post filter removes the odor. If you have lots of smell to your water, like with some wells, might make sense to change both every time.

With all the negative reviews, I thought I better add my own to balance it a bit.I installed it my self. Took me a couple hours but had no real problems. I did have to press in one of the hoses that I did not have seated properly, but that is my fault. It''s been about a week and no leaks.
I had the water tested and my normal tap water has 1200ppm TDS, and after the RO, I got 320ppm TDS. Which isn''t great, but it should be safe. I''m going to add another charcol filter in front of the system to try and knock down the TDS some more. Also our local water specialist is coming this week to service our system in the garage. I suspect after they are done, our TDS will be down to a level this RO filter can handle better, I may not need the charcol filter.
We have a Well, so high water usage isn''t so important to me. It goes right back down the drain and back into the ground where it came from. City Water users might be concerned about the water usage. It''s cheap, easy, and works and I chose this because of the twist in/out filters. No more spilling water all over while changing filters.

I purchased this product for under-the-kitchen sink installation. I wanted a RO (Reverse-Osmosis) filtration system to remove hardness constituents from the water for our coffee maker & ice maker.
Installation was somewhat difficult; I had to purchase another shut-off valve that was suitable for my 3/8" copper plumbing, a 3/8" to 1/4" tee adapter to connect the enclosed water supply tubing to the RO unit, and another 1 1/2" drain adapter (enclosed adapter was too short) to accommodate the RO drainage into the kitchen sink drains.
This product came with a charge tank, chrome plated drinking spigot, CR2032 battery, 1/2" plastic threaded tee connector for the water supply, a drain adapter for under the sink installation, a drain connector (which I was able to use) a plastic water connector for the tank, plastic color-coded hoses, some teflon tape and a plastic sanitizing pipet.
You must follow the instructions carefully to properly install & hook up the RO unit and avoid leaks that many reviewers have experienced.
It took about 24 hours after installation, sanitizing & charging the system before it was fully operational. I estimate the unit drains away approximately 3 gallons of water for every gallon of filtered water produced.
However, the unit produces very good tasting water that leaves very little behind in the way of calcium scale deposits. I have found that I can just replace the pre and post water filters only without replacing the reverse osmosis filter cartridge every 6 months. The original reverse osmosis cartridge had lasted nearly 24 months before I replaced it.
I would have rated this as 5 stars if the unit didn''t waste so much water. I recommend it.

We got this system about 2 years ago from Lowe''s and installed it ourselves. It functions properly (we never had problem with leaks, etc). The first few months we were very pleased with the product, but around about month 3, we started noticing that it began to run constantly, even all through the night. It''s quite noisy as well (it makes a gurgling noise during filtering). Upon calling the Whirlpool customer service, they said this indicated a need for filter change. Sure enough, once we changed the pre-and post-filters, the problem resolved. However, we are regularly needing to change the filters every 2 months now. We already have a water softener installed, so I''m not sure what else we can do to pre-condition our water, which is what Whirlpool wants you to do when you call their customer service. Isn''t that the purpose of this unit? Paying $50 every other month for filters on top of our monthly water bill is getting old. Unfortunately, I think we will be uninstalling it soon and just buy bottled water.

The packaging on the outside was in good condition. The water panel inside was malformed and wouldn''t fit inside the humidifier. I wasn''t about to go through the drill of a return as I needed the product for seasonal replacement. Some things are just better bought in the store.

Received this product promptly, however I was pretty disappointed with it.The sales presentation on Amazon implied that this product was the same original equipment evaporator pad that came with the unit from the manufacturer. It was NOT. was significantly thinner than the OEM one, and since this product is all about the surface of the pad delivering water to the air passing through this pad, if it''s smaller,than less water ends up humidifying the air so the unit will have to run longer than it would have with the intended full size metal pad in it.
In the future I will not buy these online unless the manufacturer (Bryant) sells them online and I know what I will be getting. Watch out for products that are only implied to be OEM equipment. They may not be.

I first saw this pitcher when I was looking for the same thing but with an ice core instead of the infusion core (which just happens to be made by the same company). I thought it was a great concept; and since I''m always looking for ways to add more water to my diet (without having to drink plain old ordinary water), I decided to give it a try. I was immediately hooked!Here are a couple of things that I''ve observed:
Distilled water works best.
Depending upon what type of fruit you use in the core, it can take up to two days (or more) to get a really good infusion. Citrus fruits tend to take longer to infuse than berries.
It''s a good idea to add water to it each time you pour yourself a glass. Two reasons: first, the newly added water will mix with the already-infused water and will take less time to become flavored. If you wait until the pitcher''s mostly empty, it''ll take a while to get a good infusion. Second, a smaller amount of "new" water will take less time to chill than if you were to add a whole bunch of new water.
And here''s a hint: If you make your own lemonade (from scratch), try using orange-infused water to your lemon juice instead of plain, unflavored water. It adds a wonderful touch of "something" that you can''t put your finger on (you KNOW there''s something else in the lemonade, but you just can''t figure out WHAT).
And, lastly, a suggestion: don''t wait for berries to come into season! Just use frozen ones (strawberries, raspberries, mixed berries, etc.) Because they''ve been frozen, they tend to infuse better than fresh ones. I recently used half a package of frozen raspberries. As they thawed they immediately began to turn the water red and by the time they were completely thawed, I had a lovely shade of red raspberry water. Being a "sweetaholic", I add a packet of stevia (AKA Truvia, but I prefer the Whole Foods brand of stevia) to my raspberry water and it tastes like a healthier version of raspberry Kool-Aid!

Prozone PZ6 Indoor Air Purifier Save 25% Off
This is the second Prozone air purifier I''ve had now, the last of which I bought just one month ago. Both units have had the fan fail prematurly. The one I just bought is already making a high pitched whine. I checked on replacing the fan on the first one. The manufacturer wanted $45 to replace the fan, so I cracked open the case and checked the fan. It''s a $3 Chinese unit! No wonder they fail so quickly. My solution was to put a table top fan behind the air purifier to distribute the air and keep the unit cool, and that actually worked better that the unit''s fan. The fan does not have to work for the unit to produce ozone.On the plus side, these units do work well as an air purifier and oder remover. I''ve used it in an 800 sq.ft. basement and it has keep it from smelling musty when the dehumidifier is off. Putting one in a walk-in closet for only 15 minutes will freshen it right up. The only down side is that they can smell quite strongly of ozone, especially when new. Eventually the UV emitter will burn out, and it does become weaker over time, so that the amount of purification lessens as the unit ages.
If you buy one of these units, count on the fan going out, and quickly. You either have to send the unit back constantly, replace the fan yourself or use and external fan. The manufacturer obviously isn''t addressing their product defect issue.
Update: I just bought my fourth Prozone. I''m now using two at a time; one in the basement to combat the toxic dryer sheet fumes (yes, the fragrance in dryer sheet is toxic) that infiltrate from the neighbors on days when the wind is still, and one on the first floor, which has been going for year pretty much constantly. The last two have not had a problem with the fans (knock on wood) and they are much cheaper a lot of other similar products.
As to claims that ozone is dangerous, well, I''ve been using them for 12 years with no ill effects. Ozone is so reactive that it would be hard to generate enough to poison yourself with with this little machine. The average household probably has enough chemical out-gassing and other forms of indoor air pollution to keep the ozone levels minimal. You will know if the ozone levels are starting to get a little high. The air starts to smell "bleachy". When it comes to neutralizing odors these little machines are unbeatable.
I recommend you avoid the room during use and for about 15 minutes after use. Open a door or window to speed removal of remaining ozone. Try it in a closet full of clothing, and space the clothing to freshen the clothes!
Wherever you use it, place it on a level surface and place it as high as you can in the room (a dresser top, high closet shelf, etc.), as ozone is heavier than air. The little fan can''t push the ozone very high, so starting high in a room is best.
About my concern with the fan. After 3 weeks of every other day use (different rooms), the fan is definitely louder than day 1. If I move the unit while it is turned on, and tilt it a bit off-level, the fan starts whirring and even sounds a bit like grinding. Therefore, turn off the unit before moving it around to place it in a different area. This fan is apparently not designed to operate in any position except perfectly level upright.
All in all, though, I am pleased with the purchase. Since the unit isn''t operational for long periods of time, the fan noise isn''t a concern.
Finally, don''t confuse this with an ionizing unit like the Ionic Breeze. The Prozone is made to generate ozone for deodorizing and for short-term use. Machines like the Ionic Breeze are made to generate ions and remove particulates from the air; while they generate some ozone, it is a byproduct and of much lower volume than the Prozone.

The unit works terrific as soon as you have it plugged in. You can smell the fresh air or cleaner air. The problem I have is the inability to get a new bulb to replace the one that is on to clean the air after it fails. When that buld goes out, you have to throw the whole unit away. We have become a throw away society and that is a shame. My only relunctance to recommend this product (I have three of them operating now)is that for the price, it seems rediculous for it to last a year (maybe) and then throw it away rather than simply have a way to easily replace the bulb. It seems like that is a planned stategy but it still works terrific as long as the bulb is on. I would suggest a way of returning the unit for a crediy towards the next one and at least there is reuse for the manufacturer and a way to save some money on the next one. I use two of them on the boat (51'' ft. Bluewater) and there is no boat smell anymore. Before tha the clothes and everything smelled like the boat and other people would notice it. I did not except when I would just arrive but now I never smell it and people say how fresh it is inside when they visit. I have ordered my next pair of these and can say they do not last much more than a year of use as the bulb goes out. I hate to throw them away but the fresh air is worth it anyway so I pay and throw the old ones away. I run them 24 hours a day.Save 25% Off

I must admit these hooks have changed my opinion of stick on utility products. I will likely use these in the future for more applications because they don''t damage the surface they are installed on (unless its weak paint or something compromised), come off cleanly in seconds and work very well.The most notable feature these hooks have is the easy release/remove adhesive strip. I was amazed when I went to reposition (comes with extra strip in case you screw up like I did) the hook and was able to just remove the adhesive with zero problems. Each adhesive strip has a tab at the end. If you pull on this tab the adhesive strip seems to just flow away from the joint and it all comes apart cleanly. I had a couple old adhesive hooks on my bathroom door that broke due to abuse. I never tried to scrape off the adhesive strip because I figured the door would look even worse after I got done with it. I noted after installing the hooks I''m reviewing that indeed the old hooks were the same easy release command brand type. I pulled the tabs and they popped right off cleanly....... mind you this was a hook that was installed on a 50 year old dried out door and held very strongly (the plastic broke not the adhesive ultimately) for years. The older hooks were put on by the previous owner so the adhesive tab cleanly released after being installed 5 plus years.
I did carefully clean the surfaces with alcohol prior to installation.

I''ve used enough command hooks in my life, I actually follow the directions. I apply it, I let it sit, I do the whole thing. I followed those same instructions. I was hanging this on our bathroom door as a temporary hook until we could decide on a more permanent rack to put on the door. It fell down within 48 hours of me hanging the first item on it. It was a towel, a rather thin Kohls towel. Obviously I''m not satisfied. Bought these to hang our washcloths on in the shower. Our shower walls are cultured marble and these stick extremely well; just like anything else 3M makes. Had them for about a year now, and with all the water and moisture they encounter daily, they look and hold as good as the day I opened the package and stuck them on. Since not everyone has methane gas leaks permeating their homes (thankfully!), you may never get the chance to test the filter in this way. But it no doubt works wonders with cigarette smoke and other offensive odors that waft into your home.
The filter has 2 "chambers." One filled with activated charcoal, and the other with the familiar Blueair patented white filter. So it doesn''t just stop with odors, it still cleans particles from the air with great efficiency, and best of all, Q-U-I-E-T-ly. Just remember to change it after 6 months, even if it means going back to the regular (and cheaper) filter. Happy breathing!
SEPT. 2008 ADDENDUM: I had another fume problem, this time, toxic deck sealant fumes from a home repair seeping into the house. I purchased another Smokestop filter and this time I noticed an odor coming from the filter itself. It''s not horrible, but I had become so sensitive to odors after a week of sealant exposure that it made me feel sick. I left the Blueair on high and it has reduced the smell after a few days. To be fair, despite the filter smell, the deck sealant odor was neutralized. And finally, I have a balcony-smoking neighbor, and as soon as secondhand smoke wafts into my bedroom, I turn up the Blueair and the smoke odor is gone in a flash. Just be aware of the initial odor from the filter itself. I''d say I''m dropping my rating to 4 stars, or 3.8 if I could.

Blueair filters are extremely expensive compared to their competitors and their warranty requires that filters be replaced every 6 months, which is often more often than needed. If you are extremely sensitive to noise the Blueair filters offer some of the lowest noise levels of any air filter on the market, but one has to pay dearly for this feature. If you already own a Blueair filter there are only two choices available to you: the particle filter at $60 and the smokestop filter at $120; there are no third party vendors. The smokestop filter has 2 pounds of activated carbon to control gaseous pollutants and odors in addition to the HEPA filter found in the cheaper particle only filter. The smokestop filter also has a foam prefilter in the back that can be brushed to removed dust buildup; thus, it will probably last longer than the particle filter, which lacks a prefilter (although if you choose to use the filter for more than 6 months you void the warranty). The particle filter has absolutely no activated carbon so if offers zero protection from gaseous pollutants and most users will be better off with the smokestop filter unless that are also running other air purifiers in conjunction with the Blueair filter.
