I bought this product to clean my composite sink from hard water stains. I did not work. What a waste of money!

Had installed Honed Black granite in my kitchen last year when I built a new house. It was sealed multiple times and still beads water, but every little thing leaves a stain or ghostly image on the granite (sweating coke can rings, greasy finger prints, wipe marks just from cleaning the counters). Nothing would get these stains off the counters. Really drove me crazy! I have tried so many things and nothing worked. I saw this on Amazon a few days ago and ordered it along with their cleaner, sealer & polish. It was so easy to use and removed all these ghostly images and stains. Then I finished it off with the cleaner, sealer & polish product (which smells really nice). My counters look brand new! I am so happy with these products! Highly recommend it.

This does not work as claimed in the description or in the YouTube video about cleaning honed granite sinks. Repeated applications with scrubbing did not remove any of the stains. I later tried SoftScrub and that seems to work. I cannot recommend this product at all. I gave it one star I would not give it any if that were possible.

10" Beer Filtration Kit

I use this filter with a carbon filter for water flltration so I can brew with my tap water and bought cheap 5 and 1 micron filters for filtering the beer. It is beeing hooked up between two kegs (out and out pole) and one keg is left open, the other closed and some pressure (0.5 psi does it) applied. Beer then flows through the filter and comes out clear on the other side. I use the 1 micron filter for Pilsener and other beer that needs to be crystal clear, the 5 micron filter for the rest. When I got two kegs for filtering, I use the same filter, but discharge it after one use. The filters are pretty cheap (about $2) at

Ultimately, you may be able to get almost the same clarity out of your beer in other ways, but for me, as I move my fermenting bottles around before kegging and always get movement in the sediment, this is the best solution.

The unit works great with a little common sense. Both pin lock and ball lock fittings are 1/4 inch (as is the draw tube in the keg) so having a larger hose would be useless. Since the fittings seal when disconnected it is possible to purge all the air out of the filter unit with Co2 before filtering. I hook up the entire system an purge both kegs and the filter before putting beer in the system. I do not believe this setup would work with gravity alone. I filtered an amber ale with a 5 micron filter and it came out very clear. With the 5 micron filter I was able to filter 5 gallons in about 45 minutes with 5 psi (the batch had a lot of thrub hence the high pressure).

I would recommend this for the home brewer with a little experience.

The only bummer about this unit is that I use pin lock fittings and this uses ball lock (easy to change just had to purchase some fittings separately).

P.S. leaving feedback without actually using the item is pretty rude.

I normally use a plate filter (with the coarse filter pads) to filter my home brew. I bought this since it looks much easier to set up and use than the plate filter (which it is). I was a little disappointed with the results though. It really didn''t do a good job at all. Reading another review, I wonder if I pushed the beer through the 5 micron filter at too high a pressure (about 10 15 psi). So the jury is still out until I use it again this time with a finer filter.

Also, for an experienced home brewer, the hook up is intuitive, but for a inexperienced home brewer who is filtering for the first time, perhaps including some instructions would be helpful. For example, I know to leave the lid loose or off of the receiving keg, but a first time user may not. And guidance on the appropriate pressure would be helpful too!

I purchased this to filter a batch of cloudy stout that I had made. Apparently the particles in the stout were too small to filter. But on a second use with a light beer it filtered out a large amount of sediment at 5 micron. I didn''t bother to continue to 1 micron that time because it''s a wheat beer which is supposed to be cloudy and I didn''t want to waster a filter cartridge. over all I like this filter for occasional use, but I don''t use it each time. Do your clarification with gelatin etc and save the filter to fix those batches that just need it.

Jura-Capresso 13185 Impressa F7 Espresso Machine

After 7 years or so of using a bulletproof Starbucks Barista which produced great espresso and copious microfoam, I bought this machine for my wife for Christmas (although she swears it was yet another gift to myself). The build quality and ease of use is great. The espresso is very good (but not up to the standards of a well pulled shot off a semi-auto). Nevertheless, the lack of any mess and pushbutton convenience outweighs any complaints about the quality of the shot don''t get me wrong, it pulls a very nice shot. What it doesnt do well is create the beautiful microfoam an experienced user can get using a traditional steam wand. All of these super-autos have that annoying steam-assist wand which is supposed to require no skill to create foam. Unfortunately all it does it create these large crappy bubbles and very little foam. To make matters worse, the side steam holes get clogged very easily and then the result is NO FOAM. I called wholelattelove and Capresso looking for a solution and they each had no clue either (a) how to solve the problem, or (b) why in the world I didnt like the crappy large soap bubble excuse for microfoam. Well for $8 I found a Krups metal steam tip off the net (go to culinaryparts.com for a $1.99 steam tip plus $6 shipping) and screwed it on to the end of the metal wand after having discarded the useless steaming aid sleeve and old plastic tip, and VOILA! -awesome foam made in half the time I could do the same thing with my old Starbucks Barista. These machines all have a Thermoblock for steaming unlike the traditional boiler on a better semi-auto. Nevertheless it is enough and the foam is first rate as I said. The only other thing to be aware of is that these machines cant use my beloved Peats coffee beans too oily and they get stuck in the hopperso I am still searching for a good dark roast which is not too oily. But for now after a month of use, I am happy with the espresso and the foam and delighted to make my morning cap with a minimum of effort. The F7 in particular is a great machine as against the other Juras. It is more programmible than the E* and much simpler to use (and smaller footprint) than the pricier units. I almost bought the F9 but there is just too much to think about on that machine and the bright chrome is a bit too shiny and pretentious. The F7 is the perfect mix of functionality and understated good looks. It is also the newest technology from Jura so it has some small touches that the F9 doesnt have, such as a 120 second steam timer versus the 60 second timer on the F9.

Update to the above review:

After many more months of use I am loving the Jura F7, and I found the beans to use: Blue Bottle Coffee Hayes Valley Espresso. Not too oily but very flavorful. Perfect for this machine. Better than Peats, and definitely fresher. I am not going to list their website here cause I dont want to look like a shill for them. But you can find them, I am confident. They will mail out to you for no additional cost.

By the way, the review above that says the F7 is a shinier version of the E8 is incorrect. The basic mechanism may be the same, but the programming functions and other nice features are significantly different. If you''re already spending this much coin, the F7 is a better deal than the E8. Just my humble opinion.

I got the Impressa F7 for mother''s day and it has changed my life around! The coffee is predictably par excellence and both my husband and I have no desire to go out for coffee anymore. In fact when we are out, we would rather come home than go to Starbucks.

The machine seemed formidable at first (I find any thing with manuals to be intimidating), but after reading the manual and trying out the F7 a few times I got it right. I have since perfected the art of frothing and steaming. It comes with a video, though I did not watch it.

CONS: has a fairly large foot print....needs a lot of counter space.

Flavored coffee beans cannot be used in the grinder....something to do with the oils. Because of this I have switched from hazelnut coffee to unflavored coffee, and frankly, the coffee is so good that I don''t miss the flavored kind.

The accessories such as the water filter and the cleaning tablets are not easily available.....I have to order them directly from Capresso, or from Williams and Sonoma.

Finally, although this is a somewhat expensive machine ($1400), we have recovered half the cost of the machine over the past 3 months by not going to specialty coffee stores and spending $3 for each cup.

Great tasting coffee & espresso, but for nearly $1k I shouldn''t have to burn myself and spend nearly 15-20 minutes cleaning up a mess caused by an unacceptable & fundamental flaw in engineering.

Since the second day we owned this product the steam wand has flown off at random temperatures; as low as 100 deg. F and as high as 160 deg. F. I''ve tried adjusting how low and high I have the steam wand inserted in the milk. I''ve even de-calcified the machine and tried again. Nothing helps the situation.

I called the company technical support and they suggested a new steam valve. We waited over a week for it to show up only to find out they sent us the wrong one! We told them our model number; they even referenced the manual with us on the phone.

I called technical support a second time and the guy affirmed they''ve had a few people call with this same issue. The worst I''ve seen was a written review on Costco.com for this product where the guy owned it for 5 months before this started happening to him. Can you imagine being stuck with this problem after 5 months of owning it?

Pay specific attention to 4:20 into the video. Avoid this company at all costs! Virtually all of their machines employ the same type of steam wand.

Many people have reported having to send their units in MULTIPLE times for VERY EXPENSIVE repairs many times costing $180 or more. I spend that much on maintenance for my vehicle! But after spending nearly $1,000 on this machine there''s no way in heck I should have to spend another cent! This thing should JUST WORK and for MANY MANY MANY years without flaws... certainly NOT one that can potentially scald the heck out of me with HOT MILK.

This one doesn''t say Pentek anywhere on it, it looks generic and it''s probably Chinese junk. It also feels flimsy and as others pointed out having more than one is probably a good idea. I bought several pretty cheap rubber strap wrenches and they not only work better but they won''t break when you''re applying some pressure... plus you can use them for other things like an oil filter. Sorry, I just dislike tools that only have one purpose in life and are not built to last so that''s why it gets only 3 stars... if it works fine changing a filter every month then I would be terribly surprised. I have a collection of various sizes of water filters I''ve used over the years in different homes (based on the unique water problems for each), and from several travel trailers, and I have never been able to get a tight filter off without one of these types of wrenches slipping or breaking and causing me some pain and lots of expletives. Do yourself a favor and buy a strap wrench! However, if this is what you want I paid a little under 4 bucks for it with free shipping so the price is right.

I bought one of these and it broke almost immediately. It broke so quickly i could not even get the housing off of my filter.

So I bought 3 more and only after they arrived, did I try again.

What I learned was that if you put Vaseline on the O-ring as well as the threads of the housing unit, the case goes on much easier, you don''t have to make it as tight and it comes off much easier in 6 weeks or so when it''s time to change the filter again.

Since learning that trick, I have not broken another, however, i am ready, just in case!

I give these 4 stars due to the durability issue. It looks big, thick and heavy... but is easily broken.

That said, i would recommend this, just buy 2.

I got these as a gift 4, maybe 5 years ago and they''re still going strong! Not as fluffy as they used to be, but still hella comfortable and in good shape. I had this faucet professionally installed by an experienced contractor that I have used for years on other projects. On several repeat visits he tried to get the tube to seat down in the body but it never would stay. I''ve stood on my countertop and pushed it with all my weight, but the gaskets just roll up and out of their grooves, preventing a good seat. Hence it wobbles and it leaks badly when turned on. We liked the (apparent) design of the faucet and ordered one with what was supposedly a "satin nickel" finish.

Yuck! What arrived (in a box labeled Satin Nickel so I have no reason to believe they shipped the wrong one) was the color of dull aluminum. It looked like a cheap finish & did not match other items (Satin Nickel and stainless steel) in our kitchen.

As a plumber I have installed many different styles and brands of water filters. This one is very nicely built and easy to install and service. We were having a major issue with sediment and odor with our water, esp the sediment. We recently had to replace the hot water heater and when I went to go empty it, the sediment issue became very apparent. About a gallon of mud poured out of the heater when it was first emptied. At this point, we knew we needed a good water filter to go along with the water heater. We decided on the AP903 based on various review from here and other places on the web. The price is excellent and we were willing to give this a shot. After some pipe work was completed, we flushed the filter for about 5 mins and instantly noticed a difference in the water, esp the odor.. It was gone. completely. Also, we noticed that the water right out of the faucet was better as well. Our house has 1" main coming into the house which goes right into the filter and we have noticed just a very very slight reduction in water pressure, but nothing to be concerned about.. Overall, an excellent filter so far. Only thing left to judge is the life of the filter, other wise I would not think twice in reccommending this filter to anyone.

This filter is a quality product for use with 5 gallon buckets.

Use 1 micron for final fuel filtering.

It is made of plastic with a glued on filter element. It has a vent built into the side of it, but I can''t see the need for it as I feel it would be difficult clog it''s 11" diameter with any fuel liquid. I think the 600 size would probably filter mollasses okay and even the 200 filters fuel pretty fast and probably filter thick paint just fine. If somehow you could clog it, it should be draining enough to pull liquid and air through the filter anyway and not need the vent. In my opinion, it is strong enough for liquids and if you just poor liquids into it without pushing or scrubbing on the filter media. It is just plain physics that the finer the filtration, the slower the flow.

On one review, not sure which model, someone said it did not drain/filter fast enough and was not strong enough. I don''t see how any of those things are possible without being careless. Besides this filter is only for a 5 gallon bucket which seriously can''t take that much time out of your life (< 1 min.) To filter liquids. Maybe he was filtering mud. Even the 200 micron I used together with this 600 filtered fuel as fast as I could pour with lots of room to spare. If you just dumped the bucket upside down like dowsing a fire, I would think any filter would splash all over with that kind of carelessness.

NOT FOR FINAL FUEL FILTERING

Last, but not least, you will need less than 100 micron size (not sure exact size needed) for final fuel filtering. When I bought these filters, the smallest offered was 200 micron and when filtering, the 200 still left sand in the bucket (i contaminated 5 gallons of fuel oil mix).

Kind of obvious to me the description is ''FOR BUCKET'' not ''WITH BUCKET'' and there is a bullet item under product features stating ''Bucket Not Included'' (perhaps this was not there when Claude ordered the item).

Claude also complained about the glue between screen and rim, but did not state he actually had any problem or failure I have used this product with hot oil and never had any problems with the bond between screen and rim not sure it''s glue I think the screen may be melted to the rim (vibration weld, etc).

I''m normally not an overly enthusiastic reviewer but this one just jumped out at me as really unfair.

Prozone PZ6 Indoor Air Purifier Save 25% Off

This is the second Prozone air purifier I''ve had now, the last of which I bought just one month ago. Both units have had the fan fail prematurly. The one I just bought is already making a high pitched whine. I checked on replacing the fan on the first one. The manufacturer wanted $45 to replace the fan, so I cracked open the case and checked the fan. It''s a $3 Chinese unit! No wonder they fail so quickly. My solution was to put a table top fan behind the air purifier to distribute the air and keep the unit cool, and that actually worked better that the unit''s fan. The fan does not have to work for the unit to produce ozone.

On the plus side, these units do work well as an air purifier and oder remover. I''ve used it in an 800 sq.ft. basement and it has keep it from smelling musty when the dehumidifier is off. Putting one in a walk-in closet for only 15 minutes will freshen it right up. The only down side is that they can smell quite strongly of ozone, especially when new. Eventually the UV emitter will burn out, and it does become weaker over time, so that the amount of purification lessens as the unit ages.

If you buy one of these units, count on the fan going out, and quickly. You either have to send the unit back constantly, replace the fan yourself or use and external fan. The manufacturer obviously isn''t addressing their product defect issue.

Update: I just bought my fourth Prozone. I''m now using two at a time; one in the basement to combat the toxic dryer sheet fumes (yes, the fragrance in dryer sheet is toxic) that infiltrate from the neighbors on days when the wind is still, and one on the first floor, which has been going for year pretty much constantly. The last two have not had a problem with the fans (knock on wood) and they are much cheaper a lot of other similar products.

As to claims that ozone is dangerous, well, I''ve been using them for 12 years with no ill effects. Ozone is so reactive that it would be hard to generate enough to poison yourself with with this little machine. The average household probably has enough chemical out-gassing and other forms of indoor air pollution to keep the ozone levels minimal. You will know if the ozone levels are starting to get a little high. The air starts to smell "bleachy". When it comes to neutralizing odors these little machines are unbeatable.

I have used this for 3 weeks. I give it 4 stars because I''m a little concerned about fan quality and lifespan. If I posted the review after the 1st day, I would have given it 5 stars. It does exactly what it says it will do, produce ozone to purify the air. I can put it in a small room (10x15) for about 20 minutes, and everything smells so fresh!. A larger room like an open-plan family room takes more time, maybe 45 minutes.

I recommend you avoid the room during use and for about 15 minutes after use. Open a door or window to speed removal of remaining ozone. Try it in a closet full of clothing, and space the clothing to freshen the clothes!

Wherever you use it, place it on a level surface and place it as high as you can in the room (a dresser top, high closet shelf, etc.), as ozone is heavier than air. The little fan can''t push the ozone very high, so starting high in a room is best.

About my concern with the fan. After 3 weeks of every other day use (different rooms), the fan is definitely louder than day 1. If I move the unit while it is turned on, and tilt it a bit off-level, the fan starts whirring and even sounds a bit like grinding. Therefore, turn off the unit before moving it around to place it in a different area. This fan is apparently not designed to operate in any position except perfectly level upright.

All in all, though, I am pleased with the purchase. Since the unit isn''t operational for long periods of time, the fan noise isn''t a concern.

Finally, don''t confuse this with an ionizing unit like the Ionic Breeze. The Prozone is made to generate ozone for deodorizing and for short-term use. Machines like the Ionic Breeze are made to generate ions and remove particulates from the air; while they generate some ozone, it is a byproduct and of much lower volume than the Prozone.

When I first got this product, it was awesome. Clean, fresh smelling air. But unfortunately, it started making really bad noises after about 2 weeks, so I returned it. I have been looking for something that works as well, but so far I haven''t found it.

The unit works terrific as soon as you have it plugged in. You can smell the fresh air or cleaner air. The problem I have is the inability to get a new bulb to replace the one that is on to clean the air after it fails. When that buld goes out, you have to throw the whole unit away. We have become a throw away society and that is a shame. My only relunctance to recommend this product (I have three of them operating now)is that for the price, it seems rediculous for it to last a year (maybe) and then throw it away rather than simply have a way to easily replace the bulb. It seems like that is a planned stategy but it still works terrific as long as the bulb is on. I would suggest a way of returning the unit for a crediy towards the next one and at least there is reuse for the manufacturer and a way to save some money on the next one. I use two of them on the boat (51'' ft. Bluewater) and there is no boat smell anymore. Before tha the clothes and everything smelled like the boat and other people would notice it. I did not except when I would just arrive but now I never smell it and people say how fresh it is inside when they visit. I have ordered my next pair of these and can say they do not last much more than a year of use as the bulb goes out. I hate to throw them away but the fresh air is worth it anyway so I pay and throw the old ones away. I run them 24 hours a day.

I bought this electric kettle after my stove top kettle needed replacement. It is great -it boils water very quickly and turns itself off automatically which is a great safety feature. As one who constantly burned up traditional kettles, I liked the idea of electric kettles that shut themselves off. My first one was plastic-with the heating element in the water. While I closer to the concept, it was not really what I wanted. I saw this kettle design and I love it. It is stainless steel, and the heating element is in the pad below and not in the water itself. It heats quickly, and shuts itself off. The stainless keeps the temperatures warm for qute some time after shutting off. So, even if I do not catch it right away, the water is usually still hot by the time I want to use it. It looks attractive sitting on the counter, and is easy to keep clean.

After I received the Brentwood Kettle I noticed the underside of the box had a WARNING: Made with HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS. The warning was not only on the bottom of the box but it was also concealed by a barcode sticker! This warning should have been advertised more clearly. I then became concerned that the plastic lid that is exposed to the hot water interior of the kettle was made with toxic plastic. I called Brentwood up and asked if the plastic used was BPA-free? The customer service told me that NO it was NOT BPA FREE! So please people do your research and always call the manufacturers when you have any doubts. Corporations often don''t care about the safety of their products for the consumer and will often cut corners at the public''s expense. Of course in a perfect world these corporations would be more highly regulated and suffer more severe punishment than just paying fines. It is actually quite evil that they can make decisions to poison the consumer just to make a buck.

BPA PLASTIC is known to release TOXINS when exposed to high temperatures and these corporations know this. Don''t buy toxic products from corporations that bite the hand that feeds them.

Help make this a better world by demanding these corporations comply by honoring and respecting the people who buy their products by making them safe and toxin free. If these corporations want to be treated by law as individual citizens then they should suffer the same punishment that an individual would if caught intentionally poisoning someone.

We need a world driven by benevolence not cold corporations.

I have returned this kettle. The main reasons for me was the barely visible light, the hard to read level indicator, and the slow boil speed.

I have since replaced it with Aroma AWK-115S Hot H20 X-Press 1-1/2-Liter Cordless Water Kettle and I absolutely LOVE that kettle. It has a very clear water level indicator on the outside. It has a bright LED light and it boils about a full minute faster than this unit.

I''ve never seen a filter for home use, as well made as what Austin Air Systems puts out. I use 2 Healthmate Jr''s in the room where my 2 large parrots reside.(The only reason for having 2 Jr''s vs 1 larger filter is that I got both used.)I ordered a new filter for the 2nd filter I had just purchased, knowing it was likely the original.Was extremely pleased in a very short time as to how well this system works (with a known new filter in service)With the feather dander a cockatoo creates, any kind of air filter has it''s work cut out for it, and having the Austin units pretty much eliminated ANY dander/feather dust settling anywhere except IN the Austin filter. Makes cleaning the room less of a chore now,with dusitng being just a slight go over.

I''ve had my Austin Healthmate filters for over 10 years, and I have to say I am delighted with their performance. You can find a HEPA filter that is less expensive, but I recommend spending the extra for the xeolite/charcoal filter that also has a HEPA filter stage. Yes, they really do work for up to 5 years, especially if you take them apart and clean the pre-filter once a year. I like to note on the bottom in marker when I last changed the filter and when I last cleaned the pre-filter. They help with Austin Tx cedar fever, mold spores and even the ragweed pollen when it comes out. I can turn them down to silent mode most of the year, and only crank them up to high when the allergies attack. Very worthwhile.

I have yet to have an austin products filter last 5 years. Usually within 2 years, the carbon filter is so laden that it emits a rather foul smelling odor. I really wish they would use a higher quality carbon to get more absorptive time. This is true for both the healthmate junior as well as the healthmate. As a matter of fact on the last go around in which I got a pro-rated credit they recommended that I not get the carbon filter. I am guessing that is because without the telltale smell, you can''t tell when the filter is not longer working effectively and you have to assume it lasts 5 years.
