I bought these for my husband as a replacement to his other Old Friend slippers they had lasted 3 years, and still have a little life in them, mostly as quick outside shoes. The new ones seem even strong and more durable than the last pair he''s looking forward to having them for awhile. Only complaint is that in this different design the inside sole comes out for washing (which is good) but when he takes his foot in and out the sole pulls out too, which he finds a little inconvenient. But not enough for him to consider returning them. Good purchase I look forward to buying myself a pair of Old Friends too.Read Best Reviews of Old Friend Men''s Moccasin Here
The good news: FOOT BLISS! These are simply the most incredibly comfortable things I have ever put on my feet. My feet are totally blissed out, and I''m considering moving to the Arctic Circle so I can wear them year-round. This is an outstanding product. The bad news: after wearing them for a week or so (with cotton socks), the soles of my feet became badly irritated -I''ve never worn shearling before, and something in it disagrees with the bottom of my feet (odd, because I wear wool socks regularly). I despaired for my new-found bliss.
The GOOD NEWS: the product description doesn''t mention that the insoles are removable and -here''s the beauty part -WASHABLE. I scrubbed them down with a bar of soap under lukewarm running water, and dried them overnight. Whatever was in the shearling (lanolin? some processing chemical?) washed away, and I got my bliss back!
Buy these. Give your feet some bliss. My husband loves these. Will probably request this same model as long as he''s around to wear slippers. I hope the company stays in business as his gene pool promises at least another 35 years of slipper wearing.

My hubby usually has this filter replaced with our semi annual air / heat inspection. They charge us for the service call which also includes their much needed expertise of course. But they charge us $45 for the replacement filter! I ordered this one, and he put it in himself before the inspection and it saved us a lot of money in their mark-up. Neither one of us are handy, so if we can replace it, anyone can. This was a good value for us.iSpring 10"x2.5" Sediment GAC/ Granular Activated Carbon Combo Filter Cartridge Save 38% Off
- Sediment and GAC carbon Combo filter cartridge
- 2.5" x 10"
- Made of 100% Melt-Blown Polypropylene, 4-layer filtration
- GAC carbon made from high-quality coconut carbon
- Removes sediment, chlorine, and bad tastes
The seller page for this ispring combo filter does not state the micron size, but I''m assuming a 5 micron nominal, 20 micron absolute size (the page for the iSpring Counter top filter unit states 5 micron size [presumably nomimal] but does not disclose the absolute size). The GAC (granulated activated carbon) section in this combo filter is loose charcoal, you can hear it shaking around like a maraca, it''s not even packed full or padded with filter fiber to prevent this.
These iSpring combo filters come with iSpring''s under counter and counter top filter systems. It did not produce ANY reduction in total dissolved solids (TDS) from my tap water (using a brand-new, freshly calibrated with 342ppm calibration solution, high quality HM COM100 lab meter to verify my tests results.) My tap water rated at 65 ppm. After filtering through an iSpring counter top system using this filter, and the secondary 5-micron carbon block filter provided with the unit, the water rated at 65ppm! Zero reduction of tds. That says "ineffective" to me.
By comparison, a standard 2-stage PUR dispenser filter knocks off at least 20 ppm tds from the readings, resulting in 45ppm +/tds.
I have ordered a set of KX Matrikx filters to replace this set. I am hoping to see significant results and will post a review on their own pages when they arrive.

I live on the Big Island where rainwater catchment is a big thing. Utilizing a 20micron sediment then having this Pentek 5micron carbon block after it is so perfect. That is the typical steps needed if you plan on using UV purification (so you can drink your rainwater! If the particulate size is larger than 5micron, you will not have the proper disinifection through the UV sterilizer. I have been utilizing this setup (20 micron sediment to a 5micron carbon block to UV lights) for 4 years with success! I change my filters once every 3 months.
Austin Air Jr. HealthMate Air Purifier HM200 Save $0.01 Off
It did the job. It''s nice and quiet on the low setting. On the high setting it''s a bit noisier, but I just set it in a corner and it''s fine. (Not right up against the wall though, because you have to leave a few inches of space around it for it to work right.) I left it running for over a year. The smoke smell is gone from the house now. Even my mother, with her super-sensitive nose, can''t smell anything when she comes to visit.
I did buy a new filter after about nine or ten months. The air coming out of the Healthmake Junior started to smell a bit acrid. I called Austin Air and asked about it, because I thought the filter should last longer. They said it depends on the quality of your air. That makes sense. They gave me a discount on the new filter because it had been such a short time.
I''m quite pleased with it. It looks nice, it''s relatively light, it''s simple to use, it''s quiet, and it works. Allergies, along with issues from the four pets, created a significant breathing problem. Someone suggested this purchase, and I was skeptical but was in desperate need of relief. An air purifier has made all the difference in my ability to breathe. I only have one for the bedroom, but will get one in the future for the downstairs, too. The company I used to order, Best Filters, was also quite accommodating. Austin sent the wrong color, but BF corrected the problem immediately (within two hours of my email) arranging for the correct color, and then easy pick up of the other unit. I would highly recommend both!

I''m entering my fifth year on my unit and the fan motor died.Last year it was slowing down and would only operate on the highest speed.
I keep it running all the time.
I like the air quality it produces. The noise level is great.
But don''t expect to have the motor live long enough to need a filter change after five years.
Its now a giant piece of landfill.
Summary: clean air in two rooms for $75 per year plus the cost of electricity.
This should be the comparison figure on all air filters.

I have birds and I was looking for something that helped not only with cleaning the air, but with odors. I have to say, I used to love my Honeywell and was concerned after reading some of the reviews of the other Austin Air models, but I can honestly say I LOVE THIS LITTLE GUY! It''s small and sits out of the way. On low it is not as noisey as the Honeywell was and it really gets the job done. I am very happy. The only drawback and why I hesitate on giving it 5 stars is because it pushes out cold air from the side vent, which wasn''t talked about in anyone''s reviews. It was quickly taken care of by putting a vent diverter, but for a few days I couldn''t figure out where the cold draft was coming from. And with birds, one needs to be careful with that. Well worth the money. My husband and I have 5 idoor cats and we keep two large litterboxes in the living room. Our living room is fairly large and opens up to the kitchen with vaulted ceilings. The litter boxes are placed behind a long couch next to a wall, this way they are out of view while you are lounging in the living room. Even though I cleaned the boxes daily, the litter would still get funky rather quickly whith five cats using it, and when my husband and I would sit on the couch watching a movie we would catch whifs of the boxes every now and then. And forget about sitting on the long couch behind which the boxes where placed. Another problem with the litter was all the dust it produced. We always worried that if people came over they would smell the boxes and get grossed out, not to mention we didn''t exactly enjoy smelling it either. So I started my research on air purifiers. I finally settled on this one because it seemed to be the best value for the money, you only have to replace the filters every 3-5 years and it filters gas fumes (such as paint or ammonia). We bought this unit about 1 1/2 years ago and I have to give it 5 big stars! I put the unit next to the boxes and have run it at the low setting continuously since we bought it and the air has been wonderful to breathe ever since. I run it on high when I am cleaning or changing the boxes and this really helps with the dust. So About a month ago I started to smell that litter box funk so I became worried that the unit was no longer working, but when I checked the unit I realized that I had accidentially turned it off instead of on low... so I turned it on and within 10 minutes the air was nice again. I received the biggest compliment recently. An aquantance came over yesterday and after talking for a while in the living room she said, "you know, your house smells so clean. In fact, I would never even guess that you have ANY animals, let alone 5 indoor cats and a dog. What kind of litter do you use??" So I pointed out the Healthmate Junior and told her that was my secret weapon. It made me so happy to hear that that I just knew I had to come on Amazon and share my story. I highly, highly reccomend this product to people with indoor animals. The only bad thing is that it works so well that sometimes I slack on cleaning the boxes because I don''t smell them anymore and I don''t think about it as much.Water Sentinel WSM-1 Refrigerator Replacement Filter Save 40% Off

Pro''s:-slightly higher water volume than the Maytag model
-OK tasting water
-did not leak
-comes with the stick on date stamp, so you know when to change the filter
Cons:
-longer in length than the Maytag, really not an issue for me, but could be depending on your fridge''s shelving.
-I returned this filter because it left a plastic or bitter taste to the water. I fill a quart bottle each day for drinking at work. I was immediately able to taste the difference between this filter and the Maytag one. But, I left it installed hoping that it would go away after a week or so of use. But it didn''t, so I returned it.
It''s not like I''m a picky water drinker either. I''m totally happy with cheap bottled water like Costco''s Kirkland brand more than the expensive stuff like Evian & Fuji and the like. But, the "plasticky" taste was something I really couldn''t live with. I gave it 3 stars because the product worked well and build quality was fine. Taste is subjective, so others might like the water it produces just fine. This is a good alternative to the pricier version that is made by Maytag. Easy to install and works just as well... Good Buy!!!

So now I''m paranoid. If we don''t test every batch of water, how do we know the filters are actually working? Most of the time, we couldn''t tell by taste that they were failing; it was only the presence of red dye in the water when we tested that alerted us. I wouldn''t feel comfortable at ALL trusting these filters if my health depended on it, like in a disaster or third world country. It makes me wonder how often everybody else is red dye testing their water. Probably not very often, if my experience is anywhere near typical.
On top of that, I gave up completely on the fluoride filters, which were one of my main reasons for purchasing the Berkey. No amount of flushing could get rid of the taste.
Now the plastic spigot handle has broken off (two pieces of plastic 1/16" in size at most were holding it on, one of them broke). It''ll only cost $19 to replace it. My husband stuck a key ring in the hole and we''re getting by until I throw the whole thing out the window or breakdown and buy the part. I''m shopping for alternatives if anybody can recommend a better filter.
They do get points for good customer service, though the company could never explain WHY the filters kept failing. I appreciated them sending the replacements out right away, but it gets pretty annoying to have to wait to use it till new filters arrive and then wonder how long until those ones go bad. Which reminds me, I need to go dye my water. Fingers crossed...

My husband and I have been using Brita style water filters for years -not only does our area (Metro DC) have atrocious bleachy water, but our condo building shuts off the water for monthly repairs and it always runs cloudy white and silty brown afterwards. (You should see the muddy-metallic buildup in the toilet cisterns.)But we use so much water between us for tea and coffee and the home carbonation system, that poor little filter jug would get filled countless times per day, and that''s without using it for cooking water. What I hadn''t noticed was I had eventually stopped drinking water, at all. I had grown to hate water so much that I was disguising it with herbal teas and juice. That''s not right. As soon as I drank my first glass of Berkey water, I could not believe how sweet and light it was. Pretty much exactly what water should be! Gone was the dreaded heavy flatness of the old filter water. It has now become a sought after beverage -we still have to work on developing the habit, but it''s quite a pleasure.
The 4 filters take up a lot of space in top and bottom reservoirs, but there''s still a ton of water on tap; we don''t even fill it daily now, so I am sure we will have a full year of use before cleaning and changing the filters out.
My next purchase will be the glass sight spigot, since it''s cumbersome to lift the top section to check on the lower levels, and I don''t really have the grip for it when full either.
The instructions are quite involved, but I figured it all out quickly enough. They tell you to put the conical white washer inside, narrow end to hole, and the flat black one outside, but it leaked with a slow drip. No matter how I tightened it or how many tricks I learned on the manufacturer/distributor websites, it still leaked into the sink after the first tightening, then seeped slowly into the rubber base liner after the second tightening. It spent the first few weeks hanging over the kitchen sink and getting in the way of everything, until I switched the washers. The white washer doesn''t look great outside, but the leak has been sealed tight, and I''ve been able to move the ensemble to a safer place.
Bottom line, this is the best investment we have made all year. I spent months researching water purification methods and briefly considered the white ceramic candles, but figured if there were ever a municipal water issue, this would be the way to go. It filters out everything except the minerals. Water being so important to survival and health, I figured it was about time we took the leap and got one (in November), and we do not regret it.
***Update, May 2, 2012: Six months later and we''re still loving the clean water. I''ve had to scrub out the top reservoir only a couple of times because of sediment buildup (like plastic dust) from our condo water that floats in the water and coats the inside of the reservoir. Then I rinse out the bottom reservoir just for the sake of it. Last night was my first time needing to scrub the black filters because the flow had stopped. Six months is a good run between scrubs! It''s back to flowing perfectly.
Also, I''m even more relieved that I have the PF-2 Fluoride/Arsenic filters because last week I found out that Maryland has some of the most heavily fluoridated water in the nation!

I posted this elsewhere on Amazon for the Big Berkey and two black filters. This is the same product and actually my purchase came with both the black filters and these two fluoride filters, so I''m re-posting to make sure that buyers beware. The Big Berkey (BB) has been a regular source of frustration and, ultimately, a significant waste of money for me. I would advise everyone to avoid this carelessly designed water purification system. Compared to a Brita or Pur water pitcher, the BB is a significantly bigger up front layout of cash. Doing some research and reading reviews, I was convinced it was worth it, both for superior water filtering and long term savings in water filters. As far as the filtering, I''ll never know. What I can tell you is that the Black Berkey Purification Element design is exceedingly poor. After all this time on the market, you''d think some engineer for Berkey would care enough to have figured out a satisfactory method of securing the filter to the upper chamber. This isn''t the case, however. You have to poke the spindly "threaded mount" onto a washer, then through a hole in the chamber, then secure the element by screwing on a wing nut. Sounds simple enough and it is. Except the wing nuts routinely--and I''ve been through three or so--strip the threads on the stupid filter. Then it doesn''t seal to the upper chamber. Then you have unfiltered water drip into the lower chamber. I bought another expensive set of black purification filter elements, just to get my hands on another wing nut. Same thing happened. And yes, I was very careful. If the wingnuts aren''t tight, unfiltered water seeps into the lower chamber where you expect filtered water. I tried the new filters with the wingnuts. Same thing happened to one of them. The Berkey instructions helpfully advise you to check that there are no leaks by putting food coloring in the upper chamber. I have used all the food coloring in the house, trying time after time to seal the !**#%^! threaded mounts through the upper chamber, tightening the nut just tight enough but not so tight as to strip the threads, then waiting to see if the food coloring comes through. What a horrible little exercise and waste of water as one time after another the colored water seeps around the hole in the upper chamber. It is a pathetic design, really, for fastening a filter to a metal bucket, i.e., the upper chamber. Also, as others have mentioned, the spigot is almost worthless; I upgraded immediately to the glass tubed spigot; otherwise you can''t see how much water is in the lower chamber. So there was that unexpected cost of a new spigot; the cost of another set of filters to try with new wingnuts; and the initial outlay. All added up to a routinely leaky and, therefore, worthless setup. Not to mention the hours wasted messing with the threads and wingnuts and waiting for unfiltered water to seep around the wingnuts into the lower chamber. A complete disaster.Want Big Berkey Water Filter-2 Black Filters and 2 Pf-2 Fluoride Filters Discount?
I was fed up with replacing the filters for my old system every 3 months and decided to buy the Big Berkey water filtering system.Although it''s much more expensive than my old Pure system, replacing the filters every year will be more cost effective.
The filter worked great for 3 month. Water tasted great, no after taste and I was really happy with my purchase.
3 months later, water started to taste funny. I thought it''s time to clean the system so I took it apart and washed it in the dish washer (as it''s recommended in the manual).
Put the filter back together and water still have a acidic after taste. My wife told me the same thing (before me even telling her about it).
Obviously the filters went bad. It''s just 3 months. There were supposed to last for more than a year! I''m just filtering tap water and refilling the filter 1-2 times/week!.
I''m hugely disappointed in the product. I could have stayed with my old Pure system and changed the filter every 3 month and saved $300!
I think this product is greatly overrated or maybe it used to be good in the past. I don''t recommend it to anyone.Warning! Do not handle product horizontally, the black filter element will break off at the screw-in base in less then a year. Trying to get a warranty replacement from Millenium Concepts was impossible, even after they admitted to having a "bad" batch. I do not recommend this product or the distributors.
Cuisinart EM-200 Programmable 15-Bar Espresso Maker Save 56% Off
1. All espresso machines, and even some coffee machines, need to be primed. If there is water in the tank, yet it''s not pumping but making noise, chances are you just need to prime it. Turn the steam knob just like in the manual, and if it fails, try again. You only have to do this when you first get the machine, or if you some how let it run dry.
2. The specs list this as not coming with a tamper, that''s only partially correct. It comes with a plastic scoop / tamper combo thang. Before you get too annoyed with it, I recommend ordering "RSVP Terry''s Tamper" (probably advertised on the same page). It''s less than 7 bucks, and the small side fits this machines portafilter perfectly.
3. Some reviewers have knocked this machine because the "Filter keeps getting clogged". Here''s a news flash: All espresso filters will get clogged if your grinder leaves too many fines. You can get pre-ground espresso (I recommend LaVazza InBlu, or Illy), or you can get yourself a good grinder (doesn''t need to be great, as long as it grinds *evenly*). If you accidentally grind too finely, this machine comes with pins to un-clog the filter. You can save a bit of time by just rubbing your thumb over the filter aggressively while running watter over it.
4. Noise. Without a doubt, this is the noisiest espresso machine I''ve ever owned. That said, I just purchased a Kurieg for my wife, and it is noisier and had even more trouble with it''s initial priming. To the Kurieg''s credit, there is no grind to mess with, and the clean up is Zero. :)
Now for the stuff that Hasn''t been mentioned, but if I where Cuisinart, I''d be shouting this from the roof tops...
1. This machine has the most rock solid temperature across shots I''ve ever seen. Nothing else comes close.
2. This machine has integrated pressure relief. It''s not perfect, which is probably why they didn''t mention it, but even Gaggia''s solenoid freaks out from time to time too. Most every other manufacture with this feature charge double this machines cost. It''s a big deal.
3. I''ve been inside DeLonghis, Gaggias, and others, this thing is pretty well built. It also looks pretty nice on the outside, and has a water res that is easy to use, large enough, and above all else, leak free.
4. The steam wand works well. It actually works better than my Gaggia''s (which was 4 *times* as much money), but it is Different, and takes some initial practice.
5. This machine has an auto power down. That''s a Very Nice feature that is often overlooked on less expensive machines, and it''s very handy too.
6. The dosing on this thing actually works. I''ve had a couple other machines that claimed dosing, yet they all seemed pretty random. This one actually works and it works reliably. Before you think this is a feature you can live without, consider this: With non-dosing machines, you need to use a shot glass or some other way of eye-balling when to stop, then put into final glass for mixing. But, with dosing, you can punch up a double shot right into the final cup, and it gets it right. Every Time. How cool is That??? Very Cool!
The only things I wish they did different:
1. I wish the machine was quieter.
2. I wish they had a non-pressurized portafilter basket option.
But, when you compare that to the plus side, it''s a no brainer: Buy This Machine!
Not having to temperature surf, not having gooey cleanup, having a cup warmer that actually works, AUTO POWER DOWN, dosing, etc., all for the price of a used Gaggia? Just click "Add to Cart" already!I read that another reviewer had trouble with her machine. Hopefully it was the exception and not the rule. It comes with a 3-year warranty, so I figure that I have reasonable protection should anything break.
This is my first espresso machine and I did a lot of shopping and read a ton of reviews before deciding to buy. I was nervous about buying it because there were zero reviews at the time. However, I loved the look, liked the feature set, and believed in the Cuisinart brand. I have had the machine for a week and have used it at least once each day. So far I am extremely pleased.
I had considered the DeLonghi EC155, which gets good ratings and is reasonably priced. However, it requires the operator to guess or measure the volume of espresso. I am terrible at guessing the volumes of liquids, so I liked that this machine has buttons that make a pre-set (or programmable) volume of coffee. It turns out that this is a great feature and really frees me to multi-task. In the mornings, I hit the power button, and by the time I fill the portafilter the machine is ready to brew. I hit the brew button and mix up my meal replacement shake. After the coffee is finished, I hit the steam button and pour the milk for frothing. It takes less than 30 seconds to froth and steam the milk, so I am pleased with its power. I have never run out of steam and was able to make a nice foam with very little practice. I can make my breakfast shake and a cappuccino or latte in under 10 minutes with the above process. Not bad for an amateur.
Overall I am very pleased with the machine and am having a great time with it. I would recommend it based on my experience thus far.

This unit is nicely put together, with its stainless steel finish. It definitely has a quality feel to it. I had no problem with turning the steam knob, as others have mentioned. The machine makes excellent espresso, both in semi-automatic and manual modes. Good crema, excellent taste.
Where this machine fall short, though, is in steam volume. It takes a long time to froth the milk, and getting it right is very hit or miss. At first I thought there was more to the art of frothing than I''d assumed, and I kept working on my technique. The best approach, I found, was to include a couple of ice cubes in the milk, to keep the temperature down as the froth built up. Results were barely satisfactory.
I have since discovered that a stronger steam flow is the key to frothing effectively. I''m now using a fully automatic DeLonghi machine that makes excellent espresso and has a far more powerful flow of steam than this Cuisinart (at least the one I had).
If espresso is your thing and you don''t mind the manual grinding, tamping, and brewing, this is a great machine. If frothing milk is part of your favorite drink, I''d suggest looking elsewhere.

This machine is amazing! Makes great expresso! I bought this machine to replace a Breville that I was not completely happy with, as it made weak espresso and I needed to turn a knob to brew the correct amount. NOT WITH THIS MACHINE! Push a button and walk away, come back to a single or double shot. The water tank is easy to refill (I use a clean syrup bottle to refill it, instead of removing it). The frothing knob is hard to turn at first, but upon the 3rd or 4th use, it is fine. I do not find the frothing wand to be too low or drippy, after all it swivels over the drip tray, duh!!! Looks great on the counter, large cup warming surface, truly stainless, not painted plastic, like some of the Breville is. A++++++Want Cuisinart EM-200 Programmable 15-Bar Espresso Maker Discount?
I got this machine about a month ago, and have been making two lattés a day since then. The espresso produced by this machine is excellent rich in flavor with a very thick and finely-textured crema. It''s easy to get that with the pressurized portafilter included. I have also had good luck with the frothing attachment, though I did remove the "quick froth" attachment, or whatever that was just using the bare steam nozzle is (for me) easier and produces better foam.I did have a bit of a freakout when I first tried to use it, though I filled the reservoir and turned it on, and waited, and.... nothing. The pump made a priming noise (it''s kind of loud), but the buttons didn''t stop flashing, which would indicate that it was ready. I turned it off and on several times, and finally in a last-ditch effort, I pushed the "manual" button while it was blinking to see if I could get any water to flow through at all. Success! After a few seconds of pumping, the water finally started flowing. I pushed the button again to turn it off, and shortly after the buttons stopped blinking and everything was fine from then on. A lot of other people seem to have issues with this machine not working straight out of the box, and I wonder if it''s because the pump isn''t priming itself immediately/correctly.
There are, of course, some drawbacks to this machine:
It''s kind of loud
It takes up to 60 seconds to warm up sometimes, and another 45 seconds to switch from espresso mode to frothing mode
The included tamper is worthless (for the record, the portafilter is non-standard, and if you get a new tamper, you should look for a 50mm)
Aside from those, I have no complaints. The coffee is delicious, and much cheaper than the $3 a day I was paying before this machine landed on my counter! At the same time as I purchased this machine, I also purchased a burr grinder and I recommend anyone buying ANY espresso machine do the same. Blade grinders just aren''t consistent enough for espresso.

The filter comes with two filters: a prefilter and a postfilter, both you need to alter annually. Note a few things: a. it comes with one thin hose that connects directly to the faucet on your sink. Second, you need to keep the filter on the coutertop, even if you are planning to put it below the couter.
ONE VERY IMPORTANT NOTE!! This filter does NOT weigh 70 lbs! Actual weight is 7 lbs. PLEASE DO NOT DO THE FOLLOWING>>>> Call the company and order it and make sure that you ask about the shipping -do not pay [..] for the shipping! I don''t know what the heck is wrong with them, but make sure you got overpay for the shipping. They only refunded [..] when I complained.

P1101045 Bryant Humidifier Replacement Water Panel
At just 25% of the store price, this was a no-brainer. I took a chance and ordered two pads, even though I had not tried one from this supplier before. I did check to make sure I had the right product number for my model of humidifier.
It fits perfectly, works perfectly and I have no regrets at all. In two years'' time, I will be ordering a couple more from Amazon.
Highly recommended.
