BUNN HT Phase Brew 8-Cup Thermal Carafe Home Coffee Brewer Save 13% Off

BUNN HT Phase Brew 8-Cup Thermal Carafe Home Coffee BrewerI am satisfied with the purchase of the newest HT Phase Bunn Home Brewer.

CONS: You can''t be in a hurry with this maker. Ours takes a full 12 minutes starting with room temperature water. The carafe only holds 8 cups. This maker is very noisy. It boils, hisses and jiggles while brewing. Water drips out of the seams of the top if it is filled to the 8 cup level while it is heating. I tested the coffee temperature immediately after brewing by pouring coffee directly in a ceramic mug. The temperature was 172F. I was a bit surprised that it was not hotter than that if it truly brews around 200F+. I will have to due further testing and watch some control factors more closely. I hope that it registers a bit higher than that.

PROS: The automatic start helps to make up for the time of brewing if you simply can''t wait the 12 minutes for the brew cycle to begin. We prefer to grind our coffee just prior to brewing but it is nice to have the option! The thermal carafe prevents over heated, bitter coffee. I tested the coffee temperature directly after brewing and it was 172F. I tested a cup at exactly two hours later and it read 160F. I give the thermal carafe a nice hot pre-rinse and it holds it''s heat for a full two hours. I love the stainless steel brew basket. Our brew basket from our last coffee maker was plastic. It blistered causing me to have concerns about plastic leaching into our coffee. No worries about that with the Phase Brew.

Good Design

The design of this brewer was just what I was looking for: 8 cups, insulated carafe, reputable brand, full temperature (200 degrees F) brewing, and no "always-on" heating tank. After a frustrating and rather wasteful one-month break-in period, it''s operating as I originally hoped. If it weren''t for that problem, I''d give it 5 stars.

Good Support

I bought the Bunn Phase Brew HT despite problems reported by others because, apart from the Technivorm, there''s nothing else quite like it, and I had read the Bunn support is very solid. This turned out to be true.

Problem with Odor, Initially

The biggest problem was a nasty plastic smell and taste originating from the plastic tank. This was especially noticeable during the heating cycle. Eventually I ran about 20 pots of water through the thing over about three weeks, including two cleanings with vinegar and even a couple with hot bicarbonate of soda solution. At one point I called Bunn support, which was a reassuring experience. They offered to replace the brewer, no problem, but they said the smell would go away in a couple of weeks. I hung on the the brewer I had, and sure enough, in a few weeks it was making great coffee. Whether it was the passage of time that did the trick or the endless flushes with water, etc., I don''t know.

Not Wasteful of Energy

I always liked the Bunn brewers for their solid build, but I didn''t want to heat water in a reserve tank all the time, so the Phase Brew seems like a good answer.

Correct Water Temperature

The water temperature coming out of the spray emitter is about 204 degrees F, and the coffee in the pot at about 185 degrees (measured with a Fluke thermal probe). (I pre-warm the pot with hot tap water, but I don''t boil it or anything.)

Pot Stays Hot for 2 3 Hours

How hot is hot enough depends on who''s drinking the coffee, and whether they take cream (I don''t). For me, the coffee is pleasingly hot for a couple of hours; hot enough for three hours or so, and a little on the cool side after that, but still drinkable. Realistically, it''s empty before then.

The Carafe Doesn''t Drip (Much)

The carafe pours nicely until the last half cup or so. Then it takes some practice not to have it drip. I just remove the top and pour the last few ounces out.

Hot Plate Only Stays on for a Short While

Some have said that the hot plate under the pot stays on, but it seems to turn off shortly after brewing. This is good because the pot is insulated and hot plates ruin coffee.

Good Spray Head

I had read that some people had problems with the shower head emitter dribbling rather than distributing evenly in all directions. That''s not a problem with mine -the spray pattern is just right. The shower head is removable for cleaning.

The Clock Works

I haven''t had any problem with the electronics, but I don''t use the pre-set timer to start the brewing so I can''t say anything about that.

Noise isn''t a Problem for Me

The boiling water noise during warm up is about average for a drip coffee maker, and a bit louder than normal for the final couple of minutes while the water is dispensed into the coffee, but it doesn''t bother me. In fact the change in the rumble serves as a final warning that the pot needs to be in place.

Brewing Time is Fine

Brewing takes about 10 minutes. Unless you stare at the machine the whole time, it''s not noticeable. Personally, I pour in the water and hit the start button, then I grind some coffee and pre-heat the pot during the initial heating phase (when no water is coming out), so by the time I''m ready, the remaining brew time is maybe six minutes.

Filters Are Unusual, But Not Hard to Find

Bunn filters are taller than most, because it dumps the water into the coffee quickly, flooding the funnel and wetting the grounds evenly. Short filters might overflow. However, Lowes, Fry''s, and others stock them, and a pack of 1000 is only about $11 (plus shipping) from Bunn.

The Coffee is Really Good

With the hotter temperature of the Bunn, I found that using a medium grind produced smoother results than the fine grind I had previously used to get flavor with my aging Braun coffee maker. My expectation that I could save 20% of my rising coffee bill by switching from a 10-cup to an 8-cup brewer hasn''t been fulfilled though, because the coffee is so good that I often have to have another half-pot later (but at least it''s nice and fresh).

I was excited to see that Bunn had a new brew technique and was in the market to replace my old Mr. Coffee unit. I preordered the Bunn HT and got it on December 30, 2010. Initially, I thought that the Bunn HT made a good cup of coffee and was easy on the eyes, easy for set up, and easy for clean up. However, on January 17, 2011, my coffee maker quit heating water and I did not get my morning coffee which upset everyone in the household! I contacted Bunn and they sent me out a new unit and asked me to ship the broken one back to them. In 2 days, I received the new unit and peace was restored to the family.

Then, on February 1, the same problem occured no heating of the water!! I contacted Bunn and told them of my unhappiness and asked if they were experiencing a rash of failures. They said that they had only had a few but for one person to have 2 failures in month is completely unacceptable!

Although I like the unit, I could not recommend this to anyone as long as it continues to go belly-up in such a short amount of time. I could understand one failure, but two??????????? BTW I use filtered water for the coffee maker so it shouldn''t need cleaning in less than 2 weeks.

Not impressed with the reliability and durability of the product.

UPDATE-March 26, 2011!!

Woke up this morning after a terrible nights rest and pressed the button on my 2nd replacement machine and ............ nothing!! It indicated that it was heating the water but no heat, no gurgling, no nothing! This is the third failure that I have had with the Bunn HT Brewer and I am at my wits (what''s left of them) end. I am struggling to believe that a company like Bunn can''t build a reliable machine. Maybe I''ll just get a stove top percolator!

I wish I could kiss the people who made this coffee maker. Where do I start? Maybe with my supposedly nice Cuisinart story. Last Christmas I received a Cuisinart coffee maker with a thermal carafe. The thing was a menace from the start. The lid never closed all the way, the entire thing was plastic except for the carafe, which almost immediately started to seep water between it''s walls even though it had never been near a dishwasher or submerged in water. Plus, it always overflowed unless we pressed slow brew. To make it more annoying it screeched out five ear-shattering beeps when it was done brewing that woke us up from downstairs even with our door closed. Who needs an alarm? Not us!

After all this I was left thinking big companies don''t care about their end product as long as they sold a bazillion. By the end of this year the crappy thing was more than toast.

Now THIS coffee maker is amazing!! Bunn seems like they want to design and build something of quality. Really? Do companies still do this? First, the coffee maker is tall, nearly as tall as my stand mixer so make sure you have room. The reason is because there''s a reservoir on top for water to boil to an exact temperature before spraying down on the coffee. And the coffee filter is made of stainless steal, not plastic! I about jumped for joy when I saw that. They also fixed the too flat pour spouts everyone complained about in previous years. It has a nice dip now so coffee doesn''t splash out. Does that mean a company actually takes suggestions? (Sorry I''m feeling a bit cynical after my Cuisinart experience.)

This Bunn is solid, seriously. It''s a well-built machine that looks great in my kitchen. And the coffee? Fantastic! There is only one small thing it doesn''t have. A built in water filter. We have very hard water here, but it''s not a big deal for me to filter the water beforehand. Oh, I nearly forgot. No ear piercing beeps! In fact, no beeps at all. Just a peaceful LED sensor that turns off when my coffee is done.

Bunn you earned yourself a new loyal customer. Thank-you!

Update 16 Feb 2011: Coffee maker still looks brand new and works just as well as the day I bought it. Water is still heating properly. I do have to turn the pot upside down to get the last of the coffee out, but it doesn''t leak or drip when I do. It''s as if it was designed to be able to be tipped that way. Still the best coffee maker I''ve ever owned.

Update 01 July 2011: I found when I fill the water reservoir above the black line the water can''t boil and just leaks out cold. So now I take care to fill the water holder to just under that 8 cup line.

Very disappointed. I just received the second unit and after one brew cycle it is non functioning. there is obviuosly a major design flaw with this model.

BISSELL 2X Spot & Stain Save 27% Off

BISSELL 2X Spot & Stain, 32 Ounces, 79B9Ok, the soap itself does a great job but use less soap to water ratio than they suggest otherwise it attracts dirt to that spot. If you dilute it more it still does a GREAT job and the spot does not attract dirt.

Bissell''s Little Green carpet machine is a must have item in our house. We recently had a cat get sick and we dealt with throw up on a pretty much daily basis for 4+ months, sometimes 2-3 times a day. During that time we experimented with a lot of different soap products for the Green Machine and this 2X Advanced Formula was easily the best one that we tried, especially in regards to how your carpet smells after cleaning. This formula smells really nice and it works great on stains. Overall this is a great formula and a significant improvement over the non concentrate Bissell formula that we used to use.

We tried using a more dilute mixture with this, as one of the reviews on here suggests, and we simply didn''t get the same results. Don''t get me wrong, it wasn''t a huge difference but there was a noticeable difference. We tried multiple weaker dilutions side by side with the recommended dilution and there was a very clear difference. We dont have a problem with the soap attracting dirt as we always do a 100% water rinse after using soap. This was a tip passed down from our professional carpet guy that we bring in a couple times a year to clean our carpet. We have been using him for over 15 years and the man knows almost everything there is to know about carpets. He basically told us that if we were going to use bissell machines that we had to make sure to get all of the soap out of the carpet. This is an issue with the home carpet machines as they dont have anywhere near the suction that the professional machines have. The best way to make sure your getting the soap out is to do a 100% water rinse after using the soap. In fact, he recommended going over it twice with water. If you dont get all the soap up then yes, it will eventually dry and become sticky and this will attract dirt and make your carpet get dirty faster. On top of that, the soap itself can actually damage the carpet fibers when left on for long periods.

I personally recommend using this soap at the recommended dilution, especially if your dealing with a noticeably dirty carpet or a stain. Just make sure you go back over it one or two times with just water to make use your getting all of the soap up. That''s how we do it and we have had nothing but great results. Then again, I would recommend doing the water rinse even if you did decide to dilute this formula a bit more.

Bottom line We consider our Bissell an absolute godsend and have no doubt whatsoever that our carpet would have been toast a LONG time ago if it weren''t for our Bissell. With that being said, this 2x Advanced Formula is the best cleaning formula we have tried yet. Together with a Bissell...well, they create a one two punch that very few stains can stand up too. If you have kids or animals, a Bissell and a bottle of 2x Advanced Cleaning Formula should be considered absolutely mandatory!

Great formula and I agree with the only other review on this product use less than the bottle suggests. It''s a wonderful smelling product and most importantly it really works well at attracting dirt. Don''t question it just buy and try it for yourself.

Neoperl Faucet Aerator Water Saving Multi Laminar Spray Stream 1.0 GpmThis has to be one of the simplest and most painless ways to save water! There really is no noticable difference in how it feels when you wash your hands, but it really uses alot less water! I have installed these on every faucet in the house. About the only negative I can think of is that filling a large pan of water does take longer, but it''s a small trade off for the water that is saved washing your hands or rinsing dishes! Installation was easy and the product is well made with a nice quality finish! I have been recomending these to all of my friends!

As advertised, great spray and easy to install. Excited to be saving water without losing out on power of the spray. Easy project!

I actually like this much more than the 2.3gpm faucet piece that was in the kitchen originally. If anyone still washes dishes themselves (i.e. no dishwasher) than this is actually incredibly useful because it makes it easier to wet and rinse the dishes quickly because of the stream shape and spread. Definitely would recommend to anyone considering cutting down on their water usage.

I love these faucets! Not only am I saving half the amount of water (and money) I used to use, but I feel like the water stream is better. It is spread out rather than just a trickle, and it has really good pressure. Others I have tried in the past have been ineffective, but these are so great, now my Dad wants to buy them for his house too!

NeverScrub Automatic Toilet Cleaning System Save 2% Off

NeverScrub Automatic Toilet Cleaning SystemI am writing a review of three toilet cleaning systems I''ve bought here on amazon:

Fluidmaster:

Uses a cartridge containing a chlorine based tablet.

Cartridge is not meant to be refilled.

Chlorine odor noticeable in the bathroom.

Cartridge can be modified (I used a dremel) so it is easily refilled.

NeverScrub:

Uses a cartridge containing a chlorine based crystal.

Cartridge is not meant to be refilled.

Chlorine odor noticeable in the bathroom.

Kaboom:

Does not use a cartridge. Bromine tablet refill inserts directly by unscrewing a cap.

No odor noticeable in the bathroom.

All three of these systems work the same way and all are really easy to install. All of them put a toilet cleaning chemical (tablets or crystals) in-line between the water fill valve and the toilet bowl fill pipe. All of them prevent the chemical from getting into the tank water (so there is no damage to the plastic parts in the tank). All sell refills for their systems. All keep the toilet bowl equally clean for about 1-3 months depending on how often it is flushed.

Amazon also sells Pool/Spa Cleaning Chlorine and Bromine tablets, which as far as I can tell do just as good a job keeping the toilets clean as the refills but at a fraction of the cost. I have tried all of the following, each of which provide enough tablets to keep all the toilets in the house clean for 10 years and they are all very cheap:

Kem-Tek 177:

The tablets fit well in the dremel-tool modified Fluidmaster cartridges.

The tablets fit well in the Kaboom.

The bathroom has a slight chlorine odor.

Spa-Kem 267:

The tablets are too large to fit in the Fluidmaster cartridges.

The tablets fit well in the Kaboom.

No odor.

Tropi Clear:

The tablets fit well in the dremel-tool modified Fluidmaster cartridges.

The tablets fit well in the Kaboom.

No odor.

Chlorine and Bromine are fairly equal in cleaning ability. Chlorine has that chlorine odor. Bromine is broken down by sunlight. Which is why, on a sunny day, outdoor pools use chlorine. But at night, or indoors, or on a cloudy day, they use bromine since there is no smell.

Summary. The Fluidmaster system works but the cartridges are expensive. To refill the cartridges easily requires a small modification with a dremel tool. The cartridge is too small for any tablets larger than 1 inch in diameter. The NeverScrub system also works but the cartridges are expensive. What I am using is the Kaboom system with the bromine tablets (either the Tropi Clear or the Spa-Kem 267) as they have no odor and clean just as well as the chlorine tablets.

This is one great product! My husband installed it and it took less than 5 minutes. We tried it on just one toilet in the house as an experiment, and 4 months later I just inserted the first refill. Now all our toilets have this contraption. This is one product which has made my life easier, and it truly lives up to it''s hype. It''s much safer for the tank parts than chlorine tablets, because the cleaning solution/chemicals/whatever remain in the casing, and the tank water simply passes through it on it''s way into the toilet bowl with each flush. And it''s far more effective than the products which clamp to the inside of the toilet bowl rim. This really, really works. Give it a try!

I am a plumbing contractor. I repair a lot of toilets due to bleach tablets and other bleach based toilet cleaners that treat the water in the tank. the bleach deteriorates the rubber seals in the tank. this product bypasses the tank and delivers the treated water to the bowl. I put these in 3 of my toilets. it keeps that hard to clean ring away and seems to last 4-6 months depending on the use. I was most impressed with how well it worked on the toilet in my workshop that is neglected most of the time. great product. I thought Amazon would have the best price on these, but my local Publix had the refills for $3.99. the kit was $5.99.

We live on a well with lots of iron. This thing is incredible! It keeps the toilets so clean. It cuts down tremendously on scrubbing. There is no ring in the bowl, now. We tried one as a experiment. Now we are hooked, and put them in all the toilets! Love it!!!!!

I agree with the three ecstatic, five-star reviews below. And there is an beneficial social side-effect that is even more important than the advantages to the individual owner: It can greatly reduce water consumption, since toilets needn''t be flushed after doing "number 1". (This is because the product''s cleaning agent immediately bleaches and deodorizes it.)

For a while I had the problem reported by the one-star reviewer below: The product didn''t work at all with the replacement cartridges I bought. I contacted the manufacturer, Puricle, and was told that some buyers had reported this problem and that the cartridges had been reformulated. I returned the ineffective batch I''d bought for an exchange, and the new, reformulated cartridges are working perfectly.

Krups F472 Duo Filter 2 pack- Set of Three

Krups F472 Duo Filter 2 pack- Set of ThreeI have ordered this before and now both times I am more than satisfied with the filter. My coffee is improved when I use it.

I bought the Krupps coffee pot because I had heard it is durable, easy to use, etc. I didn''t know at the time that the machine needs the filter. Of course the coffee is great without the filter, too. We have horrid tasting water where I live. I use bottled water for coffee. Using the filter, I don''t need to use the expensive bottle water! The filters are hard to find at regular stores, when I found them on Amazon, I bought it right away!

KRUPSKT720D50 10 Cup Thermal Filter Coffee Maker Save 17% Off

KRUPSKT720D50 10 Cup Thermal Filter Coffee Maker with Stainless Steel Housing, SilverWe just purchased the Krups KT720D50 coffeemaker to replace a Zojirushi coffeemaker we have used for several years. After less than a week, the verdict is that the Krups makes a mighty fine cup of coffee both the "aroma" and the "classic" settings deliver a rich and flavorful cup of coffee; and the stainless steel carafe keeps it hot. An added plus is the glass lined carafe which gives you the best of both worlds no metallic taste infusing into the coffee and all the stay-hot benefits of a stainless steel carafe. The only negative is the water-filling system there is a small opening on top which could be a bit larger, or the entire water reservoir comes out. The latter is great for cleaning but impractical for filling. I also wish Krups had included a floating ball in the reservoir to make it easier to line up the water level with the number of cups being made. The brewing process also takes a little longer than with some other coffeemakers, but it is well worth the wait. This is a mighty fine coffeemaker.

Krups KT720D50 10-cup Thermal Coffee Machine

Features I Wanted

* Automatic drip machine that only brews coffee

* Brand known for coffee makers

* Thermal carafe

* Ability to control brew cycle

* Looks nice on the kitchen counter

* Excellent value

* Makes great coffee

Features I Did Not Want

* Integrated grinder

* Programmability

* Clock

This coffee maker is everything I look for in an automatic drip coffee maker. Although Krups makes several types of appliances, they are probably best known for their coffee makers. From an engineering perspective, I prefer products that are dedicated to a single process rather than trying to combine tasks (e.g., grind and brew) because there will almost always be compromises in the design that degrade overall performance and lifetime. Other than the ability to make great tasting coffee, the only features I wanted was an automatic shut-off and a thermal carafe. I did not need programmability because I want to turn it on right after I grind the beans. I also did not want a digital clock, which is really not necessary in today''s world and just becomes another thing to set or correct. The KT720D is tall, so make sure the distance between your counter and cabinets is adequate. Making coffee is fast and very easy. Some reviewers are frustrated with the water filling process. Perhaps this is because they do not want to remove the water reservoir, which is designed to detach for easy filling.

Bottom Line: If you want a good-looking machine that simply makes fresh delicious coffee that stays piping hot, this model is a great choice and an excellent value.

We replaced a Mr. Coffee thermal carafe coffee maker that I hated with this coffee maker when Mr. Coffee died. My husband thinks the pieces are a bit flimsy like the other reviewers, but I don''t think they are any more flimsy than the Mr. Coffee parts that held up for a few years. Reviewers talked about the difficulty of filling the water, but I don''t think that is a problem. It is a little different than the ones where you pour water into a fixed area from above the coffee maker, but I like that I can remove the container, fill it at the sink and pop it back in. My husband prefers to fill the carafe and pour it in the hole in top. This wasn''t a problem at all despite what other reviewers wrote. I also like that you can easily clean every part of the inside of this coffee maker that comes in contact with coffee. I worried about my Mr. Coffee because I know there had to be gunk inside where I couldn''t clean. The coffee tastes great and brews fast, and the coffee maker looks stylish on the counter. This doesn''t have a timer, but that isn''t a problem for me. Overall, we are very happy with this coffee maker in the few days that we have had it.

Read Best Reviews of KRUPSKT720D50 10 Cup Thermal Filter Coffee Maker Here

This is my first Krups coffeemaker and I am very pleased with its construction, design, and functionality.

PROS:

Makes delicious coffee

Looks elegant

Easy to fill up water tank reservoir

Easy to operate

Stainless steel thermal jug has excellent thermal insulation properties

CONS:

Brushed stainless steel attracts fingerprints

Thermal jug is opaque (e.g. difficult to readily ascertain remaining amount of coffee)

DESIGN:

This is a very tall coffeemaker (15" height), so make sure you have enough room underneath your cabinets. It features a swooping curved design with tasteful black plastic and swaths of brushed stainless steel. Unfortunately, the brushed stainless steel does attract fingerprints!

The water reservoir has clear demarcations on the side so that users will easily be able to see how much water they''ve added to the tank. The water reservoir is easy to fill; either the entire tank can be detached with the single press of a button on the front face or water can be added via the intake hole at the top.

OPERATION:

Press one of two buttons and you have coffee in 10 minutes. I think the "Aroma" setting gave a slightly stronger taste, but it wasn''t significantly stronger. The stainless steel thermal jug was excellent at keeping my coffee warm. After brewing coffee in the morning, I came back 7 hours later and it was still hot (the machine was unplugged from the wall socket). The tradeoff and downside of this thermal jug is that it''s not easy to ascertain the remaining coffee level thanks to the opacity.

CONCLUSION: A nicely built and easy to operate coffee maker that looks elegant. Perfect for any kitchen. Lives up to the Krups name.

Want KRUPSKT720D50 10 Cup Thermal Filter Coffee Maker Discount?

Earlier this year I spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect coffee maker. Krups KT720D50 10 Cup Thermal Filter Coffee Maker, Black/Stainless Steel comes pretty close.

For one thing, it is a very nice looking addition to the counter. If something has to be there, why not have it look nice, right? On top of my wish list for a perfect coffee maker is a thermal carafe. That is what frustrated me in my search for the perfect coffee maker. The only one I could find was the same model as the one I already owned. It did indeed hold twelve cups, but it was mysteriously temperamental and I would sometimes find that coffee that had leaked all over my counter. I was always careful to check that the carafe was seated properly under the drip, but it was almost as if the thing knew when I had no time for its fussiness. When I had a houseful of guests for instance....

This looked like it would be a fairly suitable replacement, despite the fact that it doesn''t hold quite as much coffee as I wanted to make each morning. For us, 12 cups is perfect, as it means we each get 2 large mugs full and a little left over..With ten cups, I have to pour skimpy servings if we have guests. Since my primary concern however was a thermal carafe that would allow the machine to shut off immediately after brewing, and keep the coffe both hot and tasty, this seemed like a good compromise. It does all of those things. I agree that it is a little bit on the fiddly side, when it comes to the reservoir. I can''t just pop it in easily every time, but that is a good trade off to have a reservoir that comes out. I think that is worth having to jiggle it around now and then. Often, trying to fill a coffee maker that lives under the counter can be frustrating.

This Krups KT720D50 10 Cup Thermal Filter Coffee Maker, looks good, and makes good coffee. It keeps it warm and tasty, since there is no need to keep it on a warmer where coffee can begin to taste burnt or bitter. If it held more, it would be perfect for my needs.

CeraGrav LP-5 Replacement filter

CeraGrav LP-5 Replacement filter
  • 0.9 Micron absolute - 100% removal of cysts - 99.99% pathogenic bacteria
  • Chlorine reduction 95% - Organics reduction 95%
  • Cleanable for prolonged life - Silver-impregnated to prevent bacteria growth
  • you get 1 2" by 7" CeraGrav Filter Element - Cerasyl ceramic outer shell-coconut GAC core
  • Comes with washer and wingnut

I bought one of these when I bought the CeraGrav LP-5 Gravity Filter system; it was on Amazon''s ''buy together'' recommendation, and I thought it''d be nice for a backup. Because of the slowness of the filters, I ended up using this with the two that came with the filter.

This ''replacement'' filter comes in a plain white box, with a sticker stating it''s a replacement filter. It''s whiter than the Doulton''s that came with the filter system, and, unlike them (which state they''re "Made In England"), these have no text on the pipe end. The washers and plastic seem a bit smaller, but it could be my imagination. The official Doulton filters came in a box listing all the things they filter as well as their model; these don''t: I''m not even sure they''re ''supersterasyl'' ones (beyond the seller stating they are). (For a picture, look at the CeraGrav LP-5 page, where you can see how this is different than the other two in my system.)

I don''t know if the differences are merely cosmetic, but I''m less than enthused about not knowing what I''m actually buying, especially when it comes to something this important.

Update: After a month of use, I haven''t had any issues --I haven''t gotten sick off the pond water I''ve been dumping into my cistern, at any rate.

Product arrived very rapidly and in great shape. The filters work very well. They take all of the poor taste out and provide a very drinkable water. I have a 3 -1/2 gallon filtering system and it takes all night for the filter to process that amount of water. This shows me that the filter is really working in a fine fashion and not letting larger sized items through the filter. The water is clear and great tasting. I highly recommend these filters. I could speed up the process by using more than one filter at a time, however we don''t need the speed right now with only two individuals drawing on the supply. I will be ordering additional filters as a backup since I had expected my new water system to come with a set of filters and it did not. This order was supposed to be for backup but was installed immediately.

This is really nothing more than a taste filter it does a pretty good job of making los Angeles water taste good I use this to run to the water and ice maker in my fridge.

However, doing an actual water test, it does not remove a lot of the dissolved solids and minerals.

The overall system is fairly well made it is easy to change filters and you do not have to turn of the water to do so as the filter head features an auto shut off when the filter is removed.

However, the attachment to the wall is a single screw, and the connectors for the water lines are not as robust as i might like (friction fit essentially but then it IS all plastic and not brass.) this is probably better to use with plastic water line, as the flexibility of the plastic line should reduce stress at the fitting. I of course am using copper line, and thus my concern over the robustness of the fittings.

This is a great option for a fridge that does not have a built in filter. The filter is easy to install and easy to change. Water tastes good. I bought extra long tubing and ran it up to the cabinet above the fridge through a small hole made with a drill. Now it is totally concealed and accessible with a step stool.

This part is exact replacement as advertised and arrived in new, shrink wrapped condition. Even after shipping it still saves me money over buying it at local hardware store.

Simply put...it works. I had that "Water Hose" taste on Ice due to my lines are all plastic. It went away immediately after installation. I only took one star away because the installation instructions lack detail on where the filter is to be placed. But it was easy if you have plastic line from the refrigerator valve to the ice-maker. Enjoy.

Installation was quick and easy. But somehow, I did not seat the plastic tubing in the fitting properly and later that night (bad things always happen when you''re not there!) the input line popped out and the entire kitchen and nook were under water.

I reinstalled the system with greater care (and performed major house repairs) and it has worked fine for five years. I does no major filtration, but the water in the cubes and dispenser are good. Works for us. The refer. has one built in, but it costs $60 to change out yearly, or more often. I''ll take the GE. Wish the fittings were a bit more secure, though!

PureAir Universal Air Filter

PureAir Universal Air Filter - 2 Pack Frigidaire SCPUREAIR2PK
  • Fast odor absortion
  • Quick & easy refill

I took a chance that this was indeed the right filter for the Pureair fliter housing in my Frigidaire, despite the description and the picture. The filters I received have the removable panel on one side. The actual dimensions of the filter are 4 7/8" x 6 3/4" x 1/2". The advertised dimensions must be for the box in which the two filters are packaged. The part number is Electrolux #242047801, which turned out to be the exact replacment for my old filter. When it comes time for replacement, I''ll buy from these folks again. Just wish they would update the product information.

This was the best overall price I could find for these air filters. The package appears to be genuine parts (not plain). Fit fine.

Supposedly it purified the smell inside the fridge and keeps the air clean... I am just doing what the manual asked to do... can''t tell the difference between an old filter or a new one

I''m a Handyman, and were allways asked "can I get it cheaper anywhere else"? My answer is normaly "yea", "wait a couple days and I''ll see if I can get on Amozon". More often than not I can!

Air-O-Swiss AOS 7147 Ultrasonic Humidifier

Air-O-Swiss AOS 7147 Ultrasonic Humidifier - Warm and Cool MistThe 7147 is the quietest humidifier we have ever owned. It has easy to read digital controls, and the humidistat stays within one degree of one that also hangs on the wall in our bedroom. The filters do their job nicely and the warm mist setting keeps the room from feeling clammy.

The only issues I have with this humidifier is the way in which it is refilled. The oddly shaped top tank lifts off the pedestal control base and the refill opening is on the bottom of the tank. When you lift the tank off the pedestal daily to refill water drips everywhere as the tank sits in a pool of water. You then flip over the tank and remove the fill cap, which also happens to be connected to the filter! When you pull the filter out (which is filled with water) it drips everywhere! You then hold the oddly shaped tank upside down to refill. Since the top is now the bottom, and it is not flat you cannot set down the tank to refill. You also must contend with the nozzle where the mist sprays from, making a refill quite a challenge without getting everything around you wet!

Then you must re-insert the filter cartridge to seal the tank which displaces water. Since there is no fill line, it is easy to overfill the tank, and when the water is then displaced by the filter as you close the tank it squirts out! A simple opening on the top could have easily eliminated this problem!

The filler issue is the reason I rated the item a four out of five. It could and should be much better! Also, the controls do not remember previous settings once turned off, so you must reset your desired humidity level and fan speed each time you turn on the machine. It would be nice if previous settings were remembered!

We have been so pleased with the performance of the original Air-O-Swiss AOS 7145 Ultrasonic Humidifier Cool Mist in our 300 sq.ft. bedroom that we decided to upgrade and put the 7145 in our son''s room. The AOS 7147 is identical to the 7145 with some excellent additional features. I love the controls that provide; readings of the current humidity level, ability to set the desired target humidity level, and the ability to pre-heat the water to improve efficiency.

The one thing about which I have a minor complaint is the mist output level control. The 7145 has a dial control that allows for a continuous adjustment of the mist output. The 7147 touch controls provide only 3 absolute settings: low, high & high+. Frankly, I prefer the continuously variable mist output control of the 7145.

We are relegated to using well water which pretty much "eats up" wicks in evaporative type humidifiers, forcing frequent and costly replacements several times in a season. The mineral cartridge included with both the 7145 & the 7147 (but not needed where water is soft) does its job in treating hard water so the humidifier works as intended.

In the end I find this to be a product well worth the cost. Maintenance is easy, expensive replacement wicks are unnecessary, and the humidifier is reliable. I highly recommend this to anyone, but especially where hard water is an issue.

(Update 02/18/13)

Still using this daily without any problems. Still gives whisper quiet operation (the less expensive 7145 is a bit noisy, but not loud). Because of its very quiet operation, this 7147 would be an excellent choice for a baby''s or child''s room. I did not mention in my original review that the humidifier flashes an icon when it needs cleaning, a nice convenience. I use the Air-O-Swiss EZ CAL Cleaner and Descaler A7417 for thorough cleanings, but I find a regular rinse & brushing under warm water minimizes the need for this.

Researching humidifiers on Amazon was a somewhat tiresome exercise. Almost all products I looked at are subject to very serious complaints, most importantly noise, leakage, and lack of reliability. I decided to go with the AOS 7147 because most reviewers agree that it is really quiet, and because I liked the clean look and the features.

Here is what I can report after about a week of usage (will update if anything changes over time):

Noise level: Both my wife and I are extremely noise sensitive, but this unit can operate in our bedroom without affecting our sleep. Yes, there is a bit of a humming noise, but it is barely audible. Also there is a bubbling noise once in a while when water flows out of the tank into the tray. All-in-all, it seems about as quiet as can reasonably be expected.

Effectiveness: We use the auto setting that lets the device decide the target level of humidity and the output level. This works very well and hassle free, keeping the room comfortably moist.

Warm mist setting: I would recommend having it. Without it the room feels cool and damp. Even with using it there is a bit of a cooling effect, but it is acceptable.

Filtering/water treatment: We did not see any white dust around the unit, which was a concern.

Reliability/ease of use: No problems so far, straight-forward to operate, everything works as intended. I will post updates, if something comes up.

Look: Matters more than you would think, because it is supposed to be three feet away from the ground and away from both heating and return vents. Inevitably it will end up in a rather visible place. This unit has a bit of a techy, but overall relatively neutral look, better than most.

In summary, I am very happy with this unit.

Update: some tips on reducing the humming noise. Put a tray underneath the unit, then a thick sponge pad or similar cushion underneath the tray. The cushion dramatically reduces the noise level. The tray is very important. We first put the sponge directly underneath the unit, and that totally screwed up its moisture reading. We could watch the moisture level reduce from 50 to 49 to 48... to 37 in a few minutes and the unit cranked out steam like crazy. It seems that the unit needs to be placed on a hard surface to read the moisture level properly. Once we put a tray underneath it, the reading works normal again.

Love this product. Bought 2 of them for my kids rooms. I was tired of using the cheap humidifiers and the expensive filters that needed to be changed about every other week. The silver component in this humidifier is much better to have and I love the fact that is machine can do hot or cold mist and you can increase the humidity output. Very pleased with this product.

I bought my unit for winter time usage when the air is so dry due to the cold, I soaked the filter for 24hrs prior to use, installed it, filled the machine and it would not work warning light system indicates ''no water'' even though tank is full. This means that there is too much resin in the filter and the manual says to remove 2 teaspoons. Even after removing 4 teaspoons it still would not work. I tried running it without the filter and it worked okay.

So I just run it without the filter installed and it''s fine, I do use filtered water though (and haven''t seen any white dust problems).

After getting it running I first wanted to use it on warm mist setting, when I chose this option the heater switches on and the unit started misting and all was looking good but the unit switches itself off after a few minutes every time I try to use this function, must be some kind of heater override that is preventing it from operating in this mode.

So I just use it in cool mist mode. It works well for this but makes the room cool which in winter time is not ideal but at least I get some humified air to breathe.

Unit operates quietly except for every few minutes the air inlet gurgles quite loudly, not enough to wake you or prevent sleep but is quite noisy when you''re awake.

So, all in all, my feature-packed unit only operates as a cool-mist generator, not a particularly good advert for the unit, I would definitely consider alternative brands next time due to QC issues of my machine.
