This is a basic, functional RO faucet. Actually, it was the ONLY one we were able to find in a flat black when we wanted to replace our former faucet. It seems to work alright, it''s just a little more basic than we would have selected. This is a no frills faucet. The service was good as far as the order goes.

Keurig Charcoal Water Filter Cartrige Refill 6pc Set

Keurig Charcoal Water Filter Cartrige Refill 6pc SetI love, love, love my Keurig and these little filters make it even better. The optional water filter attachment removes the need to use bottled water in the Keurig machine and helps to provide an even more delicious cup of coffee or tea. The filters only have to be changed every two months and it is a quick and easy change. One package of filters lasts a whole year making them much more cost effective than bottled water. A definite plus to the huge positve of the Keurig.

We have very hard water -lots of iron -and the filters do a terrific job of filtering it out of the machine.

Just an FYI for owners of Breville K-Cup machines: These filters fit the 600XL (and probably the 700XL, too), since it''s really a Keurig machine in arguably better clothing. I took a gamble on a pack for our 600XL, and was pleased. Generally, the Breville-branded filters are both less common and higher priced than their Keurig counterparts.

Keep your coffee tasting fresh, and your coffeemaker nice and clean -and save a little cash, too.

As a previous reviewer (Rita Major) also mentioned, there is no way that you can tell the size of these filters sold by Big Kitchen

and fulfilled by Amazon. You have to open one and then you will be very surprised!

They DO NOT fit the popular Cuisinart SS-700 Keurig single service coffee maker. They are way too big.

When you do a product search for the SS-700, these filters automatically are linked to that product.

Rest assured, you will NOT get any refund from Big Kitchen. I tried.

However, I have spoken to Amazon customer service and they should be able to process a full refund, even

if opened, on a case by case basis. IT HAS TO BE DONE WITHIN 30 DAYS. I failed to make the deadline

as I gave up after contacting Big Kitchen.

Also, Amazon customer service is going to research this and more than likely fix this problem.

My low rating is not for the filter itself, but more related to the product advertisement.

These filters are a good value, and they work. They fit perfectly in our Breville BES860XL espresso machine. We also pre-filter the water we put in the tank, so these last longer than advertised.

Capresso 303.01 4-Cup Espresso and Cappuccino Machine Save 20% Off

Capresso 303.01 4-Cup Espresso and Cappuccino MachineFor the money this is an excellent machine for non-commericial use. My spouse is totally hooked on lattes. We usually make 2-20 ounce lattes at one time; although, we have made 3 sets of 2-20 ounce lattes back to back. The Capresso is fast. The espresso is flavorful and hot. The steamer quickly heats the milk to perfection and creates as little or as much froth as you prefer.

During the last 20 years, we have had 6 or 7 different espresso machines ranging from $40.00 to $180.00 in price. This one which retails for $105.00 (we paid less on Amazon)is the best. It is easy to use and creates exceptionally good coffee drinks.

A word of caution for any machine you purchase: READ the INSTRUCTIONS. The directions for each machine differ slighty. My caffeine addicted hubby overfilled the water chamber on a very expensive espresso/cappuccino machine and broke it.

The Capresso 303.01 is the machine I would recommend to friends and family. We are extremely happy with this machine.

UPDATE January 2012: We are still loving this machine. After at least twice a daily use (sometimes abuse), it is just starting to act a little tired. The carafe was replaced due to human error. Apparently glass breaks when dropped into a sink. (Amazon had the least expensive replacement.) The steamer is still going strong. Recently I have noticed that the espresso is not brewing quite as hot as it had been for the first 2+ years. Other than that our espresso machine is functioning well. When this machine finally dies, I plan to replace it with another 303.01. The price is currently at an all time low.

I waited a few months before I submitted my review on this machine. The last machine I bought (a Mr. Coffee steam espresso machine) lasted only 3 months before it quit working. I''m happy to say that this machine makes perfect espresso every time. The steam wand works well for frothing and heating the milk, and you can also vary the strength of the espresso. To top it off, the whole unit is easy to clean. You can pop out the bottom shelf where the carafe sits and put it in the dishwasher.

So I bought this machine because of the price, expecting it to be a piece of junk or perhaps a surprise. As the directions in the box say, this is an entry level machine. After using it, I think they are correct, although that is not a bad thing at all.

The espresso is very good, although it does not create much crema. I have had better espresso in Italy, but I really bought this to make cappuccinos with and $59.99 is cheaper than a flight to Florence. It is also very dependent on the type of coffee you use (I purchased Illy''s espresso ground in decaf amazing! I was very, very surprised with the quality of the coffee yum!).

I became very, very frustrated with the frother, even purchasing an aerolatte frother to see if I could live with that type of froth (btw I can''t. There''s nothing like steamed froth). The frother seemed inconsistent at first. Most of that is my lack of experience frothing, which after reading online the various debates and instructions, perhaps the best advise was to buy a gallon of milk and get started because it does take some practice. BUT I had an amazing discovery, and perhaps this will help you too:

1. I took off the plastic attachment and am just now only using the metal wand, and am having very few problems. I just couldn''t seem to get the hang of the plastic gizmo which is supposed to make it easier. But the metal wand by itself works great!

2. Start with cold milk and froth first (Don''t follow the company''s directions of heating the milk first and then frothing. Perhaps this is correct, but I couldn''t get a consistent froth either me or the machine, can''t say.). The milk will heat naturally with creating the froth, and as soon as you are done with your froth, you can finish it off by putting the wand deeper in the milk and completing the steaming.

3. When frothing, hold the container by it''s body, not by a handle, and don''t let it get any hotter than you can comfortably hold. If the milk gets too hot, the froth will start to disappear. It''s got something to do with chemistry if you''re interested, there are lots of sites online that go into excrutiating detail.

4. Directions say that nonfat or 1% are the best choices of milk. Online, they say 2% or whole milk. I would say, go with the higher fat content. They do in Italy, and look at you funny if you ask for nonfat. The frothing seems to work better with a little fat and the cappuccino tastes really wonderful this way.

5. Making these things take a little time. Not something you want to do if you''re in a hurry to get to work.

6. Also, you need to stay and watch the thing get involved. Frothing is quick (about 30 seconds), but you have to concentrate and not get distracted with other things. You have to pay attention or you will ruin your froth.

7. The process of making the espresso requires that you watch it. Sorry, but you can''t go and do something else.

In answer to the irritable person that said it took a lifetime to drain the steam out of the machine to make more cappuccinos, here is my response to that:

1. It does NOT take a lifetime about 5 minutes total. Put a tall glass underneath the steaming wand, turn the steam up all the way, and leave it alone. You can make more cappuccinos after that.

In answer to the other irritable person who said their coffee tasted burnt, here is my response:

1. What the heck are you doing? Perhaps not reading the directions? If you let all the water filter through like you would a coffee pot, it will taste burnt (and the instructions tell you that clearly). You have to follow the directions, perhaps read them a few times, and wait for the pot to either fill to 2 or 4 cups (making sure you put in the right amount of coffee).

Anyhow, I am keeping the machine. I am THRILLED to be able to make cappuccino''s at home. It was really fun to be able to offer fresh cappuccinos for desert on New Year''s Day dinner, that was truly delicious and an appropriate ending to a gourmet meal. They really are delicious.

I can see how eventually, I will want a more expensive machine that is perhaps more sophisticated, but for the time being, it serves the purpose just fine, making a delicious cup, giving great pleasure and relaxation, and letting me learn how to properly froth milk.

UPDATE Jan 5, 2010: My husband mentioned that the metal which holds the coffee was kind of funky looking. I started getting nervous, thinking that perhaps it might be aluminum, so I called the company. The company informed me that both the water boiler and the thing that holds the coffee ARE aluminum (not true for all the capresso products, but true for this lower end model). They come in direct contact with your water, get heated, and therefore, your coffee. I was trying to avoid aluminum products due to the uncertainty of the metal (there seems to be links to alzheimers and aluminum although not conclusive, FDA is ok with it, but probably not worth the risk). I''m probably going to return the machine as I am just too paranoid to take chances. Thought you all should know BUT it does not change my opinion of the quality of the cappucinos should you choose to buy it. I may purchase a Capresso steam frother instead (which is mostly plastic), and a stovetop unit made of stainless.

I bought this machine and actually like it though I realize it is an entry level appliance. It is a little messy at times before one gets used to its quirks. It does make very good expresso. Follow directions completely and then adjust as you get to know it. After about 10 trys I do very well with it and no longer spray milk around the kitchen. I would actually buy it again because of the great price and it seems sturdy enough to last.

I got this wonderful machine for Christmas and have been using it nearly every day. I am a college senior and aspiring medical school student, so I''m hoping it lasts me a while. I''m so happy to be making my own cappuccinos and espressos using the delicious Illy brand that they used in Italy, France, and Greece when I was abroad.

I really don''t understand some of the negative reviews--I have no problem getting the boiler cap on (you just have to make sure it''s aligned), have never burnt my espresso (follow the instructions and don''t run all the water through!), and releasing steam (for 1-2 shots) only takes about a minute.

Pros: Small, sleek design. Easy to clean. FAST. Comes with a scoop/tamper-in-one. Good for one person, and for entertaining a few guests. You can control the strength of your coffee. Frother is easy to use--I love my froth. Not messy.

Cons: For me this is not a con because I can''t drink things that are too hot, but like a previous reviewer said, the espresso is a bit on the warm (not hot) side if you''re only making one shot. Also, it is slightly annoying to clean off milk residue from the silver froth wand, but I just do it immediately after use and it''s fine.

This is my first espresso/cappuccino machine, and all in all, I think it''s a wonderful, easy to use machine.

West Bend 59055 60-Cup Commercial Coffee Urn

West Bend 59055 60-Cup Commercial Coffee Urn, Stainless SteelThe 60 cup coffee urn is a great item. Works good and brews coffee in a shorter time than others I have used. Keep warm feature is one item that I like. This is my second purchase of a 60 cup coffee urn, as the first item was not engineered very good and is subject to breaking the view glass. The West Bend does a better job in that area.

The item does work.

It could be improved.

(1) Permanently-attached cord is too short being a little over 2 feet long. It barely reaches from a standard table top down to the standard height electrical outlet.

(2) An ON/OFF switch would really be nice.

Jura 13421 ENA4 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center Save 46% Off

Jura 13421 ENA4 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center, Ristretto Black/Platinum FrontI lived in Switzerland for four years and while there my standards for coffee changed quite dramatically. Hence on my return to the US my first purchase was this machine. While I was living in Switzerland I went through two Nespresso machines which were a pain in the patootie to keep descaled and operational. Both were hosed by the time I left. I was impressed with the Jura machines owned by Swiss friends and neighbors. I have had this machine for 8 months now and have never regretted my decision to purchase it. It is smart enough to tell you when it needs cleaning and the instructions (unlike the Nespresso machinges I have owned) were very clear. Cleaning is automated and a snap to accomplish. Just initiate the program and it will be through by the time you finish doing the breakfast dishes. The one downside is that it is quite large so you will have to devote quite a bit of counter space to it and if you are big coffee drinkers you will also have to fill the rather small water reservoir quite often but other than that the machine is a dream and if you buy the right beans (hint: buy Lavazza beans here on Amazon on auto order VERY economical) you will have lovely coffee moments. No need for ''bucks unless you want WiFi.

I''ve had the jura for 4 months now and previously owned a gaggia automatic expresso machine and have made over 200 lattes so far with the jura. I love the small size of the jura, the coffee is great once you adjust it to suit your tastes. i like the fact that everything is automated and being warned stops me running out of water half way through an expresso like i did with the gaggia. it is easy to clean and is a great machine.

There are two flaws which is why I''m giving this 3 stars. Firstly the milk frothing wand comes lose and when it does sprays milk and stream over nearby surfaces and you. At first this happened rarely and i put it down to me not having the wand seated securely, however after 4 months of making lattes i check before every coffee and the wand will no longer stay on long enough to do enough milk for one latte. this is very annoying and potentially dangerous as steam and hot milk tend to go over your hand. The second problem is the water tank, it is fairly small but is around the back of the machine so if you have the machine on a kitchen surface with a cupboard above it is awkward to get the water tank out and more awkward getting it back in when filled with water.

would i buy one again? not sure have complained to jura and will see if they can fix the problem with the wand. I suspect it is a design flaw since I''ve seen other people also complain about this. if you are using mainly for lattes like me I wouldn''t buy this model.

After weeks of research we ended up selecting the Jura-Capresso ENA 4.

I was a bit skeptical that this small little super automatic could really replace our larger manual and brew quality espresso. I went to a local retailer and was fortunate enough to be able to use a demo unit. I was amazed by how simple and intuitive the ENA 4 is to use; while at the same time provides a level of flexibility and control well beyond my expectations.

The Jura-Capresso site has some great video demos as well as other info that is worth checking out.If you''re looking for a super automatic, I highly recommend you take a look at the ENA. Our unit has exceeded our expectations. Great espresso and lattes!

This is our second Jura Capresso machine, and, although we''ve only had it for a few weeks now, we couldn''t be happier with it. We bought it to replace a Jura Capresso Impresso machine that we had bought here on Amazon about a few years ago that just gave out on us. Before that, we had had a Saeco automatic machine, but we''ve found that we like the Jura one better: it puts out stronger coffee, looks sleeker and nicer sitting on the countertop, and is easier to keep clean. This ENA4 also has a smaller footprint than our past two machines.

This is also easy to use, and the instruction manual it comes with is very thorough.

My husband uses just cream in his coffee and espresso, but I usually drink mine as caffe lattes. For such, I use either skim milk, soy milk creamer, or coconut milk creamer, and it has steamed all three beautifully, leaving me with wonderful foam, if I desire it.

One big piece of advice is that when you have an automatic machine like this, you shouldn''t use oily or greasy beans. We buy beans from a local coffee brewer or stock up on the Lavazza Super Crema Espresso beans and get them on Subscribe and Save. Using the proper beans will ensure that you have a nice crema on the top of your coffee.

The upkeep of the Jura is also more expensive than that of a Saeco. The cleaning tablets and Clearyl filters you have to buy can add up, so just know that upkeep of this machine is another cost to factor in. I think we have to replace the filter about once every three to four months, that is with us making about five to ten shots of coffee/espresso each day.

Several other reviewers commented that the water tank is pretty small on this machine, and that is definitely true. I usually have to fill it each morning, but it''s not too much of a pain. Since the tank sits at the back of the machine on this model, though, you''ll need to be have room to slide it up and out of the back area.

A few other reviewers mentioned that this makes weak coffee, but I don''t agree at all. The type of beans you use makes a huge difference, and we''ve found that the Jura makes cafeor restaurant-quality espresso.

Additionally, be very careful when cleaning the dredge drawer (with the grounds in it) that you move the steamer wand out of the way. I accidentally bumped the one a few days after we''d gotten this, and didn''t realize that it had come dislodged; when I went to steam my milk, the bottom blew off, shooting out hot steam. I noticed that in a comment to another review for this machine, someone left a link for how to fix this.

Overall, we love our Jura! It''s one of our more expensive household "toys," but, if you''re serious about your coffee, you''ll love having one of these coffee centers. After all, it''s the little things in life that make a difference, right?

I will also try to update my review after we''ve had this awhile longer.

Salut!

UPDATE ON 8/5/10: We''re still loving this machine. As I mentioned in my original review, the upkeep on it is a bit expensive, but it makes incredible coffee, is easy to use, and is simple to clean.

Want Jura 13421 ENA4 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center Discount?

The little machine works fine except for the frother wand and beans stalling in the hopper as so many have mentioned. An easy fix for the frother wand blowing off is to visit an auto supply store and pick up one or several sizes of silicone "O" rings about 1 1/2" in diameter (we brought a pack set for about $4.50 to find the right size). Loop the O ring over the top of the metal frother connection to the machine and pull the frother open and push the bottom of the ring into the gap between the two rubber parts of the open frother. The "sling" works like a charm. It would seem that the Jura people could have come up with an equally easy fix.

Old Friend Women''s Kentucky Slipper

Womens Kentucky Slipper ShoesThese are comfortable slippers and very well made. The only thing I would add is that they run just a tad on the big size. I normally wear a 7-8, these are 8''s and just a little bit big in the width. A thick pair of socks solves the problem, but next time, will buy a size smaller.

I bought a pair of Old Friend slippers 5 years ago, and my husband just bought me this new pair to replace them for Christmas. I was excited to get them, since this style is what I wanted and I had good luck with Old Friend slippers before. I wear my slippers all day, every day. (I''m a SAHM and we have hard wood floors) I put these slippers on the day I got them and in two weeks I felt that the support and cushion in the sole was almost gone. To be fair, I don''t think it started out with nearly as much cushion and support as I thought it should, being an Old Friend slipper. My husband has a pair that, while huge on my feet, I LOVE for their abundance of cushion and support. I am disappointed in these slippers to say the least. I hate buying another pair of slippers, but really, these aren''t doing me much good anymore. :( Oh, but they are keeping my feet warm.

  • Level 2 Extra Filtration
  • Cartridge life 4 months or 16,000 gallons
  • Not recommended for use with non-treated well water supplies

It did seem odd that a filter that was described on the packaging thus:

REDUCES

Sediment

Rust

Scale

Dirt

Course Sand

Sand

and then would go on to state: This cellulose cartridge is not recommended for use with untreated well water.

One could only wonder what was left to "Treat". Called Culligan and a technical rep explained that the statement referencing "untreated" referred to treatment for bacteria. Apparently if there is bacteria in the water they love cellulose and can rapidly compromise the filter by digesting it.

I suggested to the Culligan rep that they be a bit more explicit in their disclaimer and specifically reference treatment for bacteria.

Our home water is supplied by a personal well that unfortunately comes with some brownish sediment that discolors the water and makes it taste a little too much like minerals. Completely harmless, but not very pretty, especially for company. Previously I had been looking into expensive water softeners or whole house filters in the $200+ range. Thankfully I found the little culligan whole house filter for $32 and this two pack of 20 micron filters for another $7 (so cheap!).

It''s been a week now, water is crystal clear. I like that I can see the filter through the casing, currently it has a light brown tinge so I know it''s working. Since the water has been so clear I think I''ll be sticking with the cheaper and longer lasting 20 micron filters, they''re supposed to last 4 months or 16,000 gallons, putting my total filtration costs at a cool ~$12 a year, far cheaper than my initial expectations when looking into larger carbon filters or water softeners.

I couldn''t be happier!

If you are using this for well water, please note that right on the packaging when you get itin the left hand front bottom cornerthat it should not be used for untreated well water. I am not sure what else you would use if for. I used this filter years ago when our well was new and I do not remember there being such a warning.

One might want to go to the 10 micron or finer size for well water and expect to change it more. I use the 10 micron filter from the same company and like them very much over the years. The 4.5 micron is also good but requires frequent replacement when a well is new or there is a lot of rain.

I was hoping to use this as we just put in a new well pump and there is a lot more sludge in a new installation, but I am hesitant to use it now due to the explicit warning.

I use this for my well water which has sediment that stains the toilet and accumulates in the pipes. I use this as the "gross" filter, followed by a 5 micron final filter. Works great at a lot less cost than the local store.

Metropolitan Professionals ADM-4PNHSF 13 Amp 4-Horsepower Canister Vacuum Save 37% Off

Metropolitan Professionals ADM-4PNHSF 13 Amp 4-Horsepower Canister Vacuum with Quadruple Hepa Filtration and Electric Power Nozzle
  • Sturdy stainless steel body
  • Features 4.0-php twin fan motor
  • 4-stage hepa filter system
  • Electric power nozzle assembly
  • Includes a complete set of cleaning accessories

At no charge, the manufacturer sent a replacement cover to correct the broken rivet. The customer service was good. They suggested bending the wheel into place to straighten the Now, however, 17 months after purchase, the electric power nozzle does not turn on. This follows on several weeks of the nozzle turning on and off intermittently. Now I wish I had purchased the vacuum from a physical store with a buyer protection program. My new strategy is to buy cheap vacuums on a buyer protection plan and get the broken parts replaced. This was way too expensive for the grief.

ORIGINAL: I bought this because I was tired of the expensive, plastic vacuums falling apart within the first year of use. While this vacuum is incredibly powerful (indeed it sucks the area rugs right off the floor) it''s not the indestructible stainless steel canister vacuum of my childhood. Within the first 4 months a rivet broke loose from the canister, making it impossible to close the vacuum. I tape it shut for use now. One wheel drags as well, leaving long black scuff marks on my white floors. I''m underwhelmed, but perhaps the manufacturer will make good on the warranty.

Buy Metropolitan Professionals ADM-4PNHSF 13 Amp 4-Horsepower Canister Vacuum Now

I bought this vacuum for a few reasons:

1) All the brand name vacuums listed on consumer reports have user reviews that said the vacuums were not that good

2) the user reviews for this vacuum were much higher, albeit fewer people, but I looked at both models too.

3) The reviews of this vacuum made it sound like it was amazing

I am truly wondering if the previous reviewers all worked for the company.

While I will say this IS a good vacuum, it does not live up to the hype and quite frankly lacks some key modern features or has some poor quality aspects

1) The cord just hangs out there with no place to go. You can wrap it around the body but that is a pain in the @$$.

2) The spare attachments hang onto a flimsy plastic carrier that poorly snaps onto the vacuum tube/pole

3) the long pole attachment (not the set that goes to the power nozzle but the other long one for the non powered attachments) does not clip. As you are vacuuming the pole will frequently fall off onto the floor.

4) The documentation / instructions for this vacuum are very poor at best. All you basically get is a poor quality single sheet of paper with very vague instructions. When you unwrap the vacuum, you have 4 poles and it takes a while to figure out why 4 (2 for the power nozzle and 2 for non power). No help from the directions. All it says is to attach the poles. You also are left wondering about the bag and filter insertion. there is absolutely nothing about proper installation.

5) You have two power buttons. One on the main body of the vacuum and one for the power nozzle. When using the power nozzle this design makes no sense at all. You have to turn the body power on, and then you have to turn the power nozzle power on. When you shut the power nozzle off, the vacuum is still running and still needs to be shut off. The button on the body is a toggle switch. Low to the left, Off in the middle, and High to the right. It takes some getting used to when trying to switch it off to not go completely from low-high (or high-low) instead of stopping in the middle.

The vacuum has very good suction, but it certainly won''t suck the chrome off a trailer hitch. :-)

minus 1 star for horrible documentation

minus 1 star for dumb power controls

minus 1 star for nothing modern on the features/attachments

I almost wanted to give another minus 1 star for not living up to the hype.

I am not totally disappointed with the vacuum. It basically works fine. And I am not sure how happy I would be with the brand name vacuums with so many real people rating them low. I might still buy this vacuum if I did it again. But my expectations would be much lower.

UPDATE 12/27/2009: OK its been 3 months and I would change the stars to 0. My wife says she clearly hates this vacuum and I have to agree it is a pain in the @$$ to use. It works as a vacuum just fine but how you use it is such a pain it makes the thought of going around and picking up each piece of dirt by hand sound more attractive. Clearly previous reviewers had to be employees of the company and were forced to leave positive comments.

We just opened the box. It took all of 5 minutes to put it together. First thing I checked was the suction. It was great. Two negatives, no auto cord recoil and the exhaust is loud. It is well built, glides nicely along the floor, comes with all the accessories, including two extra chrome metal wands, has a powerful rug beater and the bare floor nozzle has great bristles. It is light weight so it is easy to carry up the stairs and makes it OK to clean the stairs, although I wish the hose was longer. We have had all types of vacuums, Oreck upright, sharp canister, Hoover canister, shop vacs, etc. After all is said and done, when you get right down to it, you have to use a canister vac if you want to really clean. It allows you to get the dirt and dust in those hard to reach places and an upright is simply not going to cut it. We looked at all the vacs, Electrolux, Dyson, Eureka, Kenmore, Bla, Bla, Bla, Ba Bla. Based on price, performance, ease of use, durability and good old SUCTION!, this Metro is the sucker of all house vacs, bar none. It has a toggle switch for low and high suction and the power head is well made. My wife just made a comment that it is LOUD, but man it really feels like the house is clean!! Go for it!!!

Want Metropolitan Professionals ADM-4PNHSF 13 Amp 4-Horsepower Canister Vacuum Discount?

The classic look of the Metro was what caught my eye, and then I was seduced by the horsepower and the fact that this machine is made in the USA. I have long said that if some American company really wanted to reclaim its market from China, all they needed to do was go back to building a vacuum cleaner that is built to last, rather than disposable. In fact, if the US were serious about helping the environment, Congress should pass legislation against the planned obsolescence that is the guiding principle of the vacuum cleaner industry.

But I digress. What came out of the box was, well, a canister. Steel, with chrome-plated ends--not as pretty as pictured; quite utilitarian-looking and mostly reminiscent of a tin can. There was a nice, sturdy-looking hose, quality steel wands, and one very cheesy, probably Chinese, powerhead. Oh, and some equally cheesy small attachments: an undersized upholstery attachment, crevice tool, and dust brush.

The steel is a unique look, and the body and wheels seemed sturdy. The switch is indeed a plain metal three-position toggle. The cord wraps around a "halo" of metal at the rear end. One disturbing feature is that the hose is secured by metal pushbuttons into the bag compartment. This means that in order to remove the hose (say, to clear a clog or use as a blower), you have to remove the bag lid. I was afraid to push the hose into the exhaust opening (which would be necessary to clear a clog or use as a blower) for fear that the pushbuttons would make it impossible to remove. The "instructions" consist of a single sheet of Xeroxed paper containing very little useful information. Bags are hard to find; the ones offered here on Amazon are NOT the right ones for this machine, and I ordered more by calling the manufacturer, since their website was essentially useless.

This is not what I''d expect from a machine at this price point, but for "Made in USA" and power I put it to work, and power it does deliver--though with some tradeoffs. The canister, for its plain looks, works well, but as previous reviewers noted, it does get very hot during use. It BLASTS air out the back end--which my kids found fun, but which meant that I had to hold it pointing upward so as to avoid blowing dust across the hard floors I was vacuuming. The power was substantial enough to actually USE one of the turbo-brush stair tools that were absolutely useless with the Bissell machines they came with. Noise was significant, but not awful--much of it the sound of that rushing exhaust. There was some odor of burning rubber, maybe from the powerhead, and several kids complained that the exhaust stunk.

Moreover, the powerhead rattled. And when I opened it up to find out why (a nasty process involving two sizes of screwdrivers), I saw that a part was broken during manufacture--not surprising, because this powerhead is made of extremely cheap components which can''t withstand the stress of being screwed into place. Worse still, I noted that I was going to have to screw and unscrew this cheap plastic each time a change of belt was required. Replacement powerheads are a hundred dollars from the manufacturer--and probably worth about five. (For the record, I noticed this same chintzy powerhead with a Royal canister vac in the store, albeit with some cosmetic changes.)

So, mine''s on its way back to Amazon, and I''ve sprung for an even more expensive, German machine that will (hopefully) last awhile.

I don''t know why I did not buy one sooner. This thing could suck the chrome off of a trailer hitch!!! I live in an older home and it actually took a piece off old wall paper that had been painted right off of the wall. I''m telling you, this is the vacuum to beat all vacuums. I have told everyone I know to buy one and not waste their money on store brand. I love it!!! I named mine Wilma. These guys know what they are doing.

Best Water Filter by Bestfilters Under Sink Version

Best Water Filter by Bestfilters Under Sink VersionI bought UCT200 version of this directly from Best Filters as that version is currently not on Amazon. The reason I picked this was, it has a stainless steel case with a 0.5 micron coconut shell solid block filter. Installation was easy and the water has a good taste. I also upgraded the faucet to the brushed nickel premium faucet, which looks very nice and does not clash at all with my stainless steel faucet. The faucet was not too expensive. A similar product could cost you a couple hundred dollars on other websites. I have ordered other filters from them and have never had a problem. I actually called them due to a delay with this product due to it selling out fast and and the customer service was excellent. I gave it five stars because I do not have any complaints.

Mr. Coffee JWX23 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Save 38% Off

Mr. Coffee JWX23 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, BlackI''ve had two of this same model. The first just stopped working after a few months and was replaced by the company. The second leaks all over the countertop even though I wasn''t overfilling. When I called the company, I was told they had had no complaints about this, but there are numerous complaints about the same issue with this model on the internet.

Won''t buy Mr. Coffee again.

Worked fine for three months, then just stopped heating. Lights come on, relays click, but neither the pot warmer nor the water heater heat up. This pot is the epitome of "you get what you pay for".

I have purchased 2 of these Mr. Coffee machines. Both from Target. I normally only make 4 cups during the week and 8 to 9 cups on the weekend. The first machine went back just before the expiration date on my receipt. If I made more than 8 cups the coffe grinds in the filter backed up to the top of the filter and into the coffee pot. I hate grounds in my coffee. If I wanted that I would make "Cowboy Coffee".

The 2nd machine is still in my house. Today was the worse day yet. We were given some Starbucks coffee. I made 9 cups and yep, the grounds overflowed again. But worse this time. I had kept my receipt, but low and behold it was over the expiration date. Not sure which machine I will buy now. I have been using Mr. Coffee for years...........

I love how easy it is to program! I only wish that it would keep the hotplate warm for longer.

I''ve had many coffee makers over the years, from really expensive to dirt-cheap. This coffee maker, by far, is my favorite so far. It brews quickly, with two brew strength settings, normal and strong. It''s very easy to program, with the buttons on top so that nothing can ever spill on them. I like the soft alarm that lets me know when the brewing is done, and when the hot plate shuts off. Cleaning is a snap with the special cleaning cycle. If there is a weak point, it''s probably the enclosed manual. Reading it makes the programming and usage of this machine sound way more complicated than it is. All in all, a great coffee maker, just keep the manual for reference but don''t read it.

LG LP1200dxr 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner

LG LP1200dxr 12,000 BTU Portable Air ConditionerI''ve owned this unit for 2 years and it runs 24/7 from around May through September. Other than cleaning the air filter there is no maintenance, and the unit will turn just about any room into an ice box. I originally purchased the unit for an upstairs room with western exposure that would just be unbearably hot during the summer. This unit turned it into the coolest and most pleasant room in the house.

It is a large and heavy unit, and a bit noisy if you plan to sleep in the room with it. But we did get used to the noise, and it was certainly a fair trade off for the comfort it provided. I would not hesitate for a second to purchase this unit again, and when summer rolls around I am so thankful that we have it. Very well built and efficient cooler.

I have had this unit for 3 years and it has performed very well.Even though the portable ones aren''t supposed to be as good, we got this as it was well rated at the time. It has vents that go up and down to move the cold air around. It is powerful and gets the room very cold. I am sure it would cool an area 3 times the room I have it in easily. You can program it to a specific temperature. You can set it on dehumidify. It shuts down if the water chamber needs to be emptied and that can happen several times on very humid days but I just put a shallow pan under it and pull the plug to drain it. It has a good solid vent hose and a washable filter that is easy to get to. I have a slider window so I can''t mount a permanent AC unit and also it is not my house so this is a great solution. It is a way to change the area you want to cool also. It is heavy and large but is on wheels and it''s not whisper quiet but it is basic white noise and easy to sleep through. When not in use in the winter empty and clean and cover it to keep out dust. Store in a warm dry place or mold can grow in air conditioners when they aren''t in use. If needs cleaning consult a pro to avoid damaging condenser.

I love this product. It has 4 modes (Cool, Fan, Dry and Energy Saver) and all of them work perfectly! I''m using it in my bedroom which is big and it lowers the temperature to 60F in any of its modes. I got it one month ago and so far, I haven''t had any real problem with it. The only thing is that the water container gets full every 20 minutes approximately, when the humidity is around 78% so I would like this container a little bit bigger.

I got this portable air conditioner to cool the second floor of my one and a half story bungalow. I only have to run it for 2 or 3 hours in the evening to get the second floor bedroom nice and cool for sleeping. It is a little loud, but it is basically white noise and very easy for me to tune out. It is necessary to drain the water once every few days into a shallow pan (it''s the only thing that will fit under the lower drain), but you don''t need a way to let it drain while it is running. When the water tank gets full, it shuts itself off, so no mess to clean up. It is also very easy to fit the exhaust vent into the window when I want air conditioning and take it out when I want fresh air. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. It does exactly what I wanted it to.

when i first turned it on it made a very loud grinding noise, like you can''t hardly shut it off fast enough...after a couple days of messing with it i found a screw had been dropped into the unit and was keeping the fan from turning as it wedged between thefan and the wall of the unit...it works great now

Cuisinart DCC-RWF Replacement Coffeemaker Water Filters

Cuisinart DCC-RWF-6PK Charcoal Water Filters, 2 Year Supply, 12 FiltersIf you own a Cuisinart DGB-600BC Grind and Brew, Brushed Chrome or the Cuisinart DGB-550BK Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, you will quickly realize the secret to the great coffee brewed is the water filter. Unfortunately, the local big box stores just don''t carry these necessary filters. Searching on-line, the best combination deal was found with these filters, i.e. quantity = 12 (two-years of usage if you change every two months) and price (this is the best price for the quantity/shipping that I found). Unlike other vendors, this one delivered as scheduled.

These built-in filters really do help keep the coffee tasting fresh and clean. We''d left the original filter in the machine for far too long, and the addition of a new, clean filter has made a huge difference I wouldn''t have believed it without experiencing the difference. The 2-year supply is a great deal, too.

These water filters for the Cuisinart DCC-1200 are worth the price. I didn''t change the original for awhile, but decided to do the maintenance and replace it. I made a big mistake by wasting so much time. After replacing these charcoal water filters (and buying them in volume) there was an immediate difference in taste. I live in NY where the water can be heavily chlorinated with a hint of sulfur. This product eliminates the chemical taste of tap water and let''s me enjoy the real taste of my coffee.

When comparitive shopping I come to Amazon.com quite a bit and buy through them very often.

Buying these filters in larger quantities does gives a better price per filter. Look above and you will see the "item" described as 20 lbs for shipping. These are EXTREMELY light.

The weight is inflated and charges more than actual for shipping. (Who knows if they meant to enter 2 lbs or 20 lbs?? Could be accidental or on purpose.) I''m in the process of ordering a set of 12 filters somewhere else for about $2 more, but shipping is about $14 less.

I got 12 filters stuffed in a shipping bag. These are obviously NOT genuine cuisinart filters. If you are ok with that so be it. I dont want to make coffee with unknown contaminants.

I did write to Amazon concerning the alleged fraud and they responded. Evidently they are going to refund my card and suggested I order the original filters using the link they provide, and am doing so see this:
