Price is a little [costly](ok), Installation was fairly easy (good), Water is clean and tastless(great).

I have tried many filtration system (piture, sink, countertop) and I do like this the best. Does not take up room in fridge, no clunkie faucit attachment, and great filtration.

PUR has not only discontinued the undercounter/countertop filter kit, but it has also discontinued the replacement filter cartridges. Gee, thanks a lot, Proctor & Gamble (the new owners of PUR)!

If you go through the trouble to install an PUR PLUS undercounter kit (requiring a hole drilled into the sink to install the dispenser gizmo), then the whole kit goes to pot when you find that you cannot locate any replacement CTRF-5050 cartridges.

There are several sellers on eBay selling the normally $25 cartridge for double the price, but you would be well advised to go look for some other major brand undercounter kit for which you can still purchase replacement filters. Paying a premium for leftover PUR filters is money wasted that could have been spent on getting a entire new kit, as no one else makes a compatible replacement filter for the old PUR countertop or undersink unit.

Keep this in mind the next time you consider making an expensive purchase of a P&G branded item that might require regular replacement parts in the near future!

This filter fits a Pur undersink cartridge system that''s no longer being made. That said, the unit has worked nicely for me for almost 10 years now. The filter will exhibit somewhat reduced flow as it starts to get clogged, and will just shut off completely when it''s no longer useful. You don''t have to be concerned about whether it''s expired; it''ll let you know in this very simple fashion.

The cartridge mounts on the wall under the sink. To replace the filter you pop the cartridge off the mount, unscrew the cap at the base, and turn on the water JUST A BIT to push out the old filter. Then pop in the new filter, screw the cap on, and hang the cartridge back on the wall. You''re good for the next few hundred gallons of pure drinking water.

Newer units are generally bigger than this. Since I bought a house with a mammoth, industrial quality garbage disposal in the kitchen, I didn''t have much room left under the sink. This has worked well for me, and I''m glad that Pur keeps making replacement filters for it.

Just to calm any would-be buyers who read the older comments about the product showing "In Stock" status, but actually being out of stock: that may have been the case in 2005, but as of late 2006, I placed an order on a Wednesday, and with Super Saver shipping got the unit the following Friday.

This is a filter for a (sadly) discontinued countertop unit. I never understood why Pur discontinued the countertop line -it works so well for apartment dwellers like me. As long as the unit continues to function and Pur makes these replacement filters, I''ll keep buying them...it''s a great design.

[Edit: the filter line has been discontinued by the manufacturer apparently after they stopped making the units, they decided to stop making the filters for the existing product in the market. eBay is one option, but there appears to be some confusion regarding model numbers, so buyer/bidder beware.]

Boooo! Pur has discontinued this filter! I''m very disappointed. We do not like the clunky faucet filters. I don''t understand why they''d quit making the undersink model. Our city has reverse osmosis, so all we need is the stage one filter to remove sediment and chlorine. Now we''re going to have to cap off our undersink dispenser and probably have to go with the clunky faucet one. Not a consumer friendly move by PUR. (I hope the two I ordered are really in stock.)

Now that I have two cats, I decided a vacuum cleaner designed for cleaning up after pets would be the way to go as a replacement for my terminally ill Dirt Devil swivel glide model. Despite the mixed reviews that I''ve read about the vacuum cleaner, I decided to go ahead with purchasing this one because I got a really good deal on it. I''m happy that I did. I absolutely love the cord rewind feature! The suction picks up everything in its path with ease. The two major complaints that I had read about in other reviews were that it was too heavy and it was too messy. Well, it doesn''t seem to be any heavier than my Dirt Devil, and it doesn''t seem to be any messier to empty the dirt container than it was to change the bag on my Dirt Devil. I''m wondering if those reviewers were used to more expensive models that are, perhaps, more lightweight and more "self cleaning". As for me, I would purchase this one again.

I have owned this unit for nearly a year now. The huge flaw design is in the lower filters. The main filter is surrounded by a foam filter. These filters have to be cleaned every time you empty the main canister. You have to wash them out under a faucet or blow them clean with compressed air. If you wash them out with water, you will have to wait till they dry or you risk damageing the unit. This can also cause the unit to stink during use. Add to this the heavy weight factor of the unit and a stiff wand hose. I dont have time to deal with all the drama involved with this filter system. I hope you do.

This vac is a bit on the heavy side so I will only use it on one floor, it does pick up the dog hair well, I am not sure if the flip down actually does anything to really help with the hair, I can''t tell.

1 Picks up dog hair very well, I have a German shorthair and her hair is very difficult to remove for floors and fabric, plus a long haired cat so I have abundant hair to clean up

2 the rotating wand attachment picks up hair well

3 No bags to buy

4 filters are water washable so it removes the dust

5 The cord retracts

6 Not expensive for a vac

CONS-

1 The wand is not flexible which makes it difficult to clean furniture

2 the hose is too short and I had the vac almost hit me in the head multiple times

3 The vac is heavy so it is difficult to carry when needed

4 The hose extension is not long enough

5 It can be messy to clean out filters which should be cleaned at least every other time and they have to dry completely before use

6 The extension cord is much too short, all my other vacs I have had are longer and I can do all my downstairs rooms by backtracking once, this one i have to plug in for every room, a man must have designed this!!

7 I constantly step on the cord because they have the dumb thing near the floor and when I drop the cord I have to bend over and pick it up, I can''t reach it without bending over

8 The wheels are not large enough, my other vacs all would go from room to room without a problem but this one sticks at 2 areas that are a little higher.

You make the decision, I have listed the pros and cons, it is a nice vac that cleans up pet hair but it does have its flaws.

I was given this vacuum as a early Christmas gift for my sister. I have 2 dogs a long haired doxie and a German Shepard. Obviously the shepard sheds a lot more then my little doxie. With my old vacuum I''d have to go over the same spot 5-6 times just for it to lift all the pet hair off of my area rugs. My doxie destroys toys so there is always strings and toy pieces....my other vacuum wouldn''t even suck up the strings from his rope toys. One pass and the dog hair and toy particles are gone!! I can''t rave enough about how well this suctions. I never had a big dog before and when we got the shepard I was a little worried...and then I saw the hair all over....thick course white hair all over my rugs. I thought I was going to go crazy... but I used this vacuum and it worked great. The other problem I had with my other vacuum was it had bad suction yet somehow it was impossible to move...I can''t explain it. It would basically suction itself to our area rugs and our wall to wall carpeting. This vacuum you can push with ease...and it doesn''t suck up your area rugs so your chasing it around the house. It has different height settings so you can even vacuum hard woods...and it actually sucks up stuff instead of blowing it out the back which is common with a lot of vacuums. There is also the attachment the pet hair eraser...I used that one my microfiber couch and it worked great!! I also used it on the stairs and it was perfect for getting into the crevices of my carpeted stairs. I lovee the look of freshly vacuumed carpets but this is on a whole other level! It makes my carpets look like brand new. I never even knew our carpets could look this good. It was also a lot of fun for me to use it through the whole house and see how much my other vacuum was missing....and it was missing a lot! My only gripe would be it is a little heavy....but I''m young so I don''t mind lugging it up and down the stairs...and its not my like I''m doing that every single day. A good vacuum is going to have some weight to it. Of course I can''t forget to mention the retractable cord....LOVE! The cord is also very long...so you don''t have to stop a hundred times to unplug it and replug it and when your done just press the button and it winds it back up. I just really couldn''t be more pleased...who knew a vacuum could make me so happy!! The attachments have a cool setup also....I hate how with my other vacuum I had to un-attach one hose and attach another just to use the attachments! AHHH!! This one is great you just pull the stick out and use it...and then when you plug your stick back in...it sucks anything that might still be in the hose...so that the next time you grab it stuff doesn''t fall out. I wasn''t sure this vacuum would be any better then the one I already had. Man was I wrong, this vacuum actually picks up the dog hair! We have 2 inside dogs and 1 cat, pet hair is everywhere. This vacuum actually gets the hair up. I had used my old vacuum and dumped it 2 3 times while vacuuming, this vacuum I had to dump 5 6 times. I see now what my other vacuum was missing. This vacuum makes your floors look clean, it works on tile and carpet. The suction is wonderful, I really like the turbo pet tool. I use the turbo pet tool on chairs and throw rugs, it works really good. I have not tried the other attachments yet so I dont know how well they work. So far this is a great buy and I would buy another one when the time comes.

Where I live we have had a few notifications from our local water department of elevated levels of arsenic; NOT GOOD. So I''ve had it in the back of my mind to get an RO system for some time;

and this little gem fit the bill. I am what you would call "mechanically challenged". I didn''t want an elaborate under the counter system with it''s own faucet that would have to be installed; to complicated for me; besides I live in a rental; and I was impressed with the reviews here too.

My order arrived in 10 days (there were two weekends in between)So it was fairly fast.

The only complaint (and I notified Abundant Flow) were the instructions. I felt there should be pic''s explaining the hardware but in the back of the booklet, was a flow diagram.

First off, remove the aerator from your faucet. Attach the adapter (provided with the unit)by screwing onto faucet where the aerator was. The Quick Disconnect then attaches to the adapter. Connect the RED hose to the Quick Disconnect that mates with the fitting installed on the faucet. No tools required On the Red hose, unscrew the collar slip it over the red hose connect the hose to the nipple on the Quick Disconnect; which locks the hose to the quick disconnect

UPDATE: I didn''t know that when you push the quick disconnect up onto the faucet, BE SURE TO PUSH UP ON THE COLLAR OR RING TO LOCK IT ONTO THE FAUCET. Otherwise when you turn the faucet on the quick disconnect will just pop off the faucet. Now I can turn my faucet on full force and fill the container in less time.

I almost sent this unit back. I was unsure about all the water being expelled from the Yellow hose (BAD WATER) which is the drain and little coming from the Blue (Good). I contacted Mark @ Abundant Flow and e-mailed me that you will get about a 4 to 1 ratio of waste (Bad) to Good water. It (Good water)filled up a 32oz juice bottle in just a few minutes. So I''m happy about that. It comes with enough hoses to hang yourself so just cut the excess off just make sure to have enough Yellow for the drain.

I highly recommend to have some containers on hand to store purified water in. I''m using empty gallon milk jugs.

I also ordered an Inline DI Adder Kit here on Amazon for the removal of the arsenic; that unit is the final filter that connects to the Blue line.

So all and all I''m very pleased with this unit once I understood how it works and mounted it to the wall in just minuets; the bracket unfolds see main pic for that then just folds back onto itself.

Update:

I purchased a TDS meter and unfiltered water measured at 106 PPM and filtered 001; note this is within the margin of error so I would presume that it would actually be 0 also I have installed a DI final filter

This unit works FANTASTICALLY well here in NC where we have in excess of 80 psi water pressure. In FL, where we had limited water pressure, the unit worked, but was very slow.

This unit works VERY well. When I make Ice with this water, sometimes the ice grows "horns." This tends to only happen to water that is very nearly pure.

Other osmosis units have hoses all over the place, when I got mine I attached three lines only, the other lines are hard lined into each other on this. A very nice small unit I sit on my counter by my sink. My average TDS is .025;from .380 TDS to .025 with city water is awesome. A very good price compared to others also.

We struggled between buying this unit and the comperable Dirt Devil offering, when we saw them at the local discount stores. Liking the stiffer dual-rotating beater-bar style brushes on the Bissell better than the much softer brushes on the spinning disk the Dirt Devil had, we settled on the Bissell. At the store, the only negative factor for the Bissell appeared to be it''s one-year warranty, versus the two-years offered with the Dirt Devil.

We did not consider a cordless model, presuming they would be less powerful. We also did not consider a model without scrub brushes.

I used our new Bissell briefly last night on a couple of recent pet stains, and it did a good job. Today, I used it on all the rest of the pet stains on our light living room carpet, many of which were old. Almost all of them lifted well.

The Bissell clean tank will hold a full 8 oz. (3-4 oz. cleaning product and 4 oz. water), compared to the Dirt Devil that only holds a total of 6 oz. It does a decent job of suctioning up liquid. Many with the Dirt Devil seem to complain that it''s suction is inadequate, and we did test its suction at the store and agree that it is weak.

The manual doesn''t document the total clean tank size, how many ounces the "Formula" fill line is at, or how many the "Water" fill line is at, but I measured them. This way I know the proper dilution, if I choose to mix some of the cleaning product into a regular spray bottle for pretreating convenience, without hauling the heavier unit around. (They suggest leaving the pretreat on for 3-5 minutes.)

Note that once you''ve filled the clean tank, if you have a lot left over you do not have to empty it. You can save it for next time. (The disadvantage to doing this is that you would no longer have warm water to help you clean better.)

The 20'' cord was more than adequate for us to get to the areas we needed to clean. Others complain that the Dirt Devil''s cord is too big, but I''m not sure if that means diameter or length. The cord on the Bissell flows nicely. It isn''t stiff and doesn''t stay too curled up to be able to be used easily. It even had a convenient velcro strap that stays attached, to help you manage the cord for storage.

The unit is really easy to fill, operate and clean. Both the clean tank and the dirty tank detach and reattach very easily. Even the beater brush cartridge removes easily for cleaning. It only took me a few minutes to have it ready for storage again. Dirt Devil users complain that reattaching a tank is not always easy.

This is not a full size steam cleaner and I don''t think it''s fair to expect it to behave like one. It''s great for the purpose it''s designed for. Be sure to vacuum your capet before using it, if you haven''t done so recently. This will minimize the amount of hair etc. to clean out of the brushes when you are finished using the Bissell. I did not do this, and it still wasn''t bad to clean out the brushes.

The unit has a solid and durable feel to it. Dirt Devil users seem to think that unit is flimsey and has an awkward manual solution/water sprayer.

I think the product works well and would recommend it over the Dirt Devil. I am happy with it

I have mostly hardwood in my home, but I do have a little bit of carpet, so I bought one of these for the small spots and spills. I have 3 kids and 2 dogs, so it seems that accidents are a daily occurence. I used this Spotlifter on some old pop stains that have been on the carpet for months, and it got them out no problem. I couldn''t believe how well it worked and how dirty the water was that came out of my carpet. It worked so well that I decied to try it on my couch and chair, and it did a great job on them as well. Next stop was my car''s interior, which was no small feat. It made my 6 year old minivan look and smell almost new. Buying this Spotlifter was definitely money well spent.

I feel bad about giving this review, but I must. This is the worst machine ever created. Let me say that I think Bissell has excellent quality machines (Little Green) but this is not one of them.

First of all, this machine has absolutely NO suction to it whatsoever. I managed to trigger out around a cup full of solution, and the spotlifter only ''sucked'' 1/4 of it back up. My carpet was soaking wet. I had to lug out my Hoover Steamvac to suck up the rest of the water. Naturally, I thought I had a faulty spotlifter, so I exchanged it for another one. I got the SAME thing, a spotlifter without suction.

Secondly, the trigger mechanism is horrid. Instead of it releasing a steady stream of liquid, it is spray oriented, where you must continuously spray it like a spray bottle. That becomes extremely tiresome, and it actually hurts your hands, as when you ''try'' to suction the liquid, you have to tilt the machine forward and it is very cumbersome and large.

All in all, I hated this machine. It was clunky and did not clean anything. It is horrifyingly loud for no reason. The rotating brushes actually mat the carpet to the floor. This is a very bad buy. If you are looking for something that is easy to use for those quick stains, buy the ''Little Green Clean Machine''. It is wonderful and has amazing suction. You actually get what you pay for.

this little machine is worth every penny.. i have pets and just spraying and blotting up accidents was really grossing me out..i tried the dirt devil steam cleaner and please "do not buy that machine!" it cooks the stain and stinks.. yuk.. the bissell is amazing ..it scrubs and lifts out everything.. i''ve waited for something like this for a long time.. it even does steps..

I had a small similar machine many years ago. This one is a very inferior machine. The suction is very very poor, it will pain your finger putting down fluid since it is not an electric pump, but a manual trigger like those on bottles of cleaning fluids. Also, the tank for the cleaning solution is very very small. Basically, a can of woolite carpet cleaner and a good brush can do the job as well and more conveniently than this rip off item that is over promoted by the info from the manufacturer.

I am going to review on the filter and not the shipping. The filter can be bought at home depot for about for 2. It is the BEST filter I have had. I have tried many other filters since I have brown water. This is the only filter to catch the vast majority of the sediment. I have to change it once a week (I have seriously dirty water) but I went from having dirt stained toilets and tubs, and dirt on the rim when cooking in a pot to clean water. Do a double filter system where this is the first filter, and the second filter is finer (and more expensive), and the water is pretty much as clean as city water!

I think this hardwater prevention cartridge works. I have read that it is a must for people who have tankless water heaters, who don''t also have water softeners. Personally, I think you should buy a water softner over this device if you can afford it and are okay maintaining it. That said, I am using this device on the water line flowing into my water heater. I also have a hot water filter ) on the outlet side of the water heater to catch the stuff released into the water heater. That filter catches a lot of slimy rust and hardward. The only issue is that I need to change the filter quarterly. However, the aqua-pure seems to last six months. Overall, I think this is a good product, but you have to get it installed or install it yourself. Then, you probably want to filter the other side. I think a water softner (Morton Salt #MSD34C 34M Water Softener Unit) would work better, but this solution is less expensive to purchase and maintain.

When they changed the style of the filter the resultant water flow has decreased. It can now take hours for the water to drain through the filter. We are using the filters in a ZeroWater Bottle filtration system that is supposed to replace 5 gallon bottles. I will be looking for another type of filtration system. I have decided that filtered water that sits in plastic isn''t very good for me anyway, and since this has become frustrating it is time to switch.

I agree that the shape makes it very hard to get into round and slick. The water does taste great, however, and the filters last a long time.

BUT the very bottom part of mine cracked and popped off. When the filter is OFF and the water is flowing straight through without being filtered, the bottom part of the assembly has an internal thread mesh filter end-piece the threaded part broke, so the mesh part popped off. I could have continued to use it, but without that piece the water was uncontrolled and splashed everywhere. This is not a piece that is under any stress, cannot be over tightened, and took no impacts, etc it''s just the mesh cap on the end of the spigot.

So now I get to buy a new filter unit hopefully one that uses the same filters, as I have several of them left.

I rec. mine for Xmas and love it.The K cups are much neater then my old machines messy cup that I had to grind,fill and clean coffee grinds with.This you just drop in the K cup and remove it after,NICE,and the coffee is good.There are hundreds of flavors to choose from also.I only had one problem,every time I made a cup the tank would not fill back up and the word PRIME would appear.I did what the instructions said,cleaned the tank and filter screen even though it looked fine and it would work fine for a few cups then same thing again.I live at Lake Tahoe and our water is 99% pure yet something invisible was clogging the filter screen????? The screen is just to darn fine and gets clogged way to easy.I removed it with a small screw driver,very easy to do and now it works great.You do need to clean it once in a while by running white vinegar through it but this should be done with all coffee makers.

Holmes HM1761-U 2Gal Cool Mist Humidifier

We have owned this unit for approximately 3-4 months and have had to change the filter four times now. At about $10 per filter, the cost of ownership is just not worth it. After about a month of use, the filters begin to smell musty or moldy, requiring us to change them (or fill the room with musty smelling moisture).

As humidifiers go, the unit is a bit loud, although as another reviewer said, the ''white noise'' type of sound doesn''t bother our sleep.

We''re definitely searching for a new humidifier this one is becoming to expensive to continue using.

We have 2 of these humidifiers, and they work very well. We require the white noise for sleeping, so we love that it is loud. The tank lasts for two nights (about 24 hours running time. We add a capful of Holmes Bacteriostat to the water each time, and no mold grows on the filter. This product is basically peroxide, and the bottle lasts all winter for two humidifiers. My only complaint is that there is no way to clean off the fan blades, and after three years of use we need new machines. Still, I think they are a great value and they help eliminate stuffy noses at our house!

Briel ES161ACTB Domus Due Save 27% Off

I love espresso and have searched for a machine that could produce a rich espresso, with bountiful crema. You know, like the kind that can be found everywhere in Europe and nowhere in the U.S.

I have purchased three Briel machines. Two Chamonix models and one higher end Due (costing approx. $300).

My experience with all has been similar. The machines produce a beautiful product. But only for a matter of months. Then, for one reason or another, they break down. The quality of manufacture is mixed or poor.

Nevertheless, I have shelled out $160 $175 for one Chamonix machine that lasted a year, and another similar amount for a second one that lasted about the same.

And then, like Charlie Brown trying to kick that football and having it be pulled away by Lucy every single time, I hopefully purchase a new machine. This last time I purchased a Due, costing almost twice the price of a Chamonix, hoping perhaps that it would be more enduring.

The Due broke after six months. The pressure guage which for the first six months registered a consistent 11 13 bar every time would no longer climb above 6 bar. The coffee was weak and watery. I ordered a new crema filter at my own expense from Electra-Craft, the exclusive East Coast servicer for Briel products. That made no difference. I changed the grind every which way. I changed the tamping every which way. I sent the machine in to Electra-Craft for repair, paying for the shipping at my own expense and then paying Electra-Craft for the return shipping. I tried putting in a new filter basket, borrowing one from the Briel graveyard that is in my basement.

Electra-Craft said the machine was fine, according to their standards. They say that, although the pump is warranted, the fact that the gauge will not climb above 5 6 bar does not indicate a pump failure.

I followed up with a telephone call. Spoke with a technician. No help.

I followed up with another call. Another technician. No help. They gave me the name of a supervisor, Frank.

I wrote to supervisor Frank, I explained all of the above, that I was a repeat Briel customer, that I had spent hours tuning the machine. That the performance was no longer proper and asking, please, what can you do to fix the situation.

Briel wrote back to explain that the machine is fine and that if I were to send the machine back for repair a second time, they would impose an additional service charge on me.

I now have one more Briel corpse in my basement. And in the meantime have swelled Starbucks''s coffers during the period that I spent trying to deal with this problem and being unable to use my expensive Briel paperweight.

Briel would be well served were it to replace Electra-Craft as their service provider.

If these machines were built to last at all, they would be perfect, and would merit 5 stars easily. Buy a Briel product only if you are willing to buy another, and another, and another, as each prematurely breaks one after another. Don''t bother with shipping a unit to Electra-Craft particularly because the terms of the limited warranty require you to pay for shipping both ways. Save the shippingt cost and invest it in another machine.

I, however, will never buy another Briel.

This wa my 4th esspresso machine and my second Briel. I loved this machine when I first got it > It made great coffee rich,creamy and even looks good on your counter. Well that being said after 8 months water started dripping from the head unit occasionally until it became impossible to make coffee without water leaking everywhere spoiling any chance of enjoying a cup of espresso.

I would avoid this machine if you dont like headaches.

English is my mother tongue. I also speak French, Spanish, and Italian. The instruction manual provided went from step one to step eight. The balance of the English language was/is missing. I could piece together from the other provided manuals how to make it work, but my questions to the manufacturer in all four languages were not replied to. Amazon told me they could be of no other help except to provide phone numbers (which did not work), and email which bounced, and webaddress which I already had. I have only tried it once and it seems to work well. Amazon was nice enough to offer a free return or a small credit. I still have a less than pleased feeling. It is a lot of money for an incomplete product.

This was my first espresso machine. It ran beautifully for about 2 months then water started leaking from the steam wand while pulling shots. Paid $30 shipping ($15 each way) to repair center on East coast).

they replaced the pump &after 4 weeks got it back...It ran for 4 weeks before it started to leak water from steam wand again while making shots(losing 4 ounces of hot water to every 1 ounce of espresso made). Sent it back to East Coast repair center...Paid $15 in shipping & they paid return shipping since their repair failed. After 3 weeks got it back again with the steam pump replaced. It worked for about 4 weeks and then guess what?? Yup!! it started leaking from the steam wand again. Called the East Coast repair center and told them I wanted a different machine cause this one was a lemon...After passing me around to different service people for 2 weeks I was finally told to call Steve the owner...I was then told that this machine was not under warranty because the Amazon seller I bought from was a secondary seller and not recognized as a Briel "authorized" dealer. Thank God I had taken out a "Square Trade Warranty" when I bought this machine. Square Trade refunded me the cost of the machine less the shipping cost. All this does have a happy ending...I found a Delonghi Magnifica semi-automatic on Craigslist for $75 that has carried me through and past the Briel nightmare. If you can afford this machine or can find one used I would say go for it..it is a quality machine with no problems.
