2 Refill Water Filters for GE Coffee Makers

2 Refill Water Filters for GE Coffee MakersIf you have used these filters before then you know just how much hard water build-up can accumulate on them. If you haven''t used them before, then just take my word, you really don''t want all that mineral deposit in your coffee. Using these filters really does make my coffee taste so much better, and the price is very reasonable for the length of time I can continue to use these filters. I seriously recommend using these filters.

We ordered these and the charcoal was leaking out. I contacted GE to see if they could still be used, and they said "Absolutely not." The pod itself was broken and I would get charcoal in my coffee. (Yum?)

Price is a little high, shipping was fast just insufficient packaging. Refund was quick as well.

I would have liked for them to offer us a replacement as I would have given them a second try. Who knows maybe my parcel guy went all Ace Ventura on his packages that day? But it was never offered.

Bottom Line: If you get these, and there is black dust all over it DO NOT USE. Return it for full refund.

Homax 0243 White Ring Remover

Homax 0243 White Ring Remover
  • Heat and watermarks disappear without stripping, refinishing or harming the finish
  • Removes magic marker, pen marks and graffiti from finishes
  • Removes tarnish and oxidization from copper and brass

This product is amazing. After a series of cleaning ladies left splatters of water marks on my furniture, I was sure I was going to have to refinish the surface of several pieces. Before doing that, I thought I would try Jasco White Ring Remover. I was astounded by the outcome. All of the water marks were gone and there was a beautiful finish to the furniture. I am going to buy several more of these so that I can always have it on hand.

I had this product before, it does the job for most cases. I had a rather large water stain on my imported red wood coffee table from overwatering a small plant which was on a glass plate, but the water still spilled over onto the wood surface. The unsightly stain was not discovered until a few days later. This product was used with a large dose of "elbow grease" to remove the stain cleanly. I had to use it multiple times, but the stain is gone. Unfortunately, I also used up the product. I was very happy to find it in Amazon. I would recommend it. Make sure you wear a glove to use it or wash your hand afterwards. It''s a great product to have it around, so you can use it when you need it. The small jar can last for years.

Amazing. I thought I had to refinish my teak table (old varnish finish) after a major white mark was left years ago from heat. I tried everything from oil, bee wax, even slightly sanded the mark with the smallest number of sand paper. Nothing worked. I just tried this product an hour ago. I left the room and when I came back everything was gone! I should have taken a picture. It worked so well. This is the first time I write a review. I had to do it. I will buy a lot more of this product for sure. Wow....

We have an antique table that it appeared a cleaning company ruined. We were just about to hire a company to refinish the table for $1200.00 and my husband tried this product.....AMAZING! Took the cloudy finish away and restored the shine! LOVE this stuff! Saved us a bunch of money!

learned of this product on EveryDay Cheapskate and was so excited to try it. I was sorely disappointed. I noticed no difference in the white rings on our dining room table after use of the product.

Copco 24-Ounce Big Joe Thermal Travel Mug

Copco 24-Ounce Big Joe Thermal Travel MugLook, the only people who should be seriously considering this mug are people who need a mug that holds 24 ounces. These are mostly folks that drink 24 ounces of their beverage in the time it takes most folks to drink eight. If you''re in that crowd, read on. If you''re not if you''re looking for a system that will keep your coffee hot for eighteen hours, or that won''t sully the impeccable flavor of your Guaruvian kitty-dung extra roast look elsewhere.

OK, did all those dilettantes leave? If you''re still reading, it''s because you want a 24-ounce (or larger) mug, probably for hot beverages. If that''s the case, you have only a few choices: the CopCo Big Joe (either single or double), the Thermos DF4010, or some plastic mugs offered mostly at hunting/camping or NASCAR sites. The ones from the hunting/camping sites won''t fit into your car cupholders. The NASCAR ones look like they do, but some of them are so huge, they also look like they''ll upset in your lap ever time you take a right turn. So I''m going to keep my comments to the CopCo and Thermos offerings.

I bought both of them several months ago. I have used ''em more-or-less interchangeably since then, and I feel like I have enough information to make a decent review of each. I take my coffee with adulterants (milk & sugar), and I have not noticed any cup-taste being transferred to the coffee. Either of them will keep the coffee hot for the half-hour or so that I usually take to drink it. Both have handles that are only attached at the top: I notice that, when I put either into the car cupholder I usually use, the bottom of the handle extends below the top of the cupholder so that if the handle WERE attached on the bottom, the mug would not fit into the cupholder correctly. I have not noticed any problem with looseness or weakness of the handle on either mug.

The top of the Thermos mug has a slider to cover the drinking hole; the top of the CopCo dies not. The sides of the CopCo fit more snugly into my cupholder, and have rubber traction inserts that help to hold it in place. That said, however, I have not noticed that either has problems with looseness or insecurity in the cupholder.

Neither is dishwasher-safe; the trapped air between the steel exterior and the plastic interior will expand in the dishwasher and possibly crack the plastic. The tops may be dishwasher-safe, but I have not risked them (hey, I''m washing the mug anyway; how tough is it to wash the top, too?). And the tops are NOT interchangeable one with the other.

I like the CopCo better, but for no good reason I can figure out (it may be that I just don''t like the tumblehome sweep of the shape of the Thermos as much). So pay your money and take your choice.

I had a stainless mug and it really kept the coffee hot for a long time, several hours. This mug is much lighter, being that it''s plastic. It feel cheap and doesn''t keep the coffee hot at all, maybe an hour. If you just want something to grab for coffee on the way to work, I guess it''s OK. It fits in a standard cup holder and it''s easy to drink from. It''s not spill proof but it doesn''t splash either. Because it has a metal exterior you can''t microwave it, so you need to drink your coffee within about an hour or drink it cold. The fully metal mug I have doesn''t fit into a cup holder, it''s got a wide bottom. I was looking for this shape and the qualities of the steal mug.

After several months of trying to use this mug I finally threw it out. I was drinking hot tea and the plastic smell and taste was so strong it scared me, so out it went. I''m sticking to stainless in and out.

The pros are : It''s stainless, Kept a coffee hot long enough for me, Size was perfect for me.

The cons : Price ( saw a two pack (after I ordered from here)at *al-*art for $7.98 in auto section,) The Lid is NOT a spill proof locking lid top (my office requires mugs to be), The top is not a screw on lid, its a push in and pull out takes quite a bit of hand stength.

Wish I had known before ordering it didn''t have a spill proof lockable lid top.

I wanted a large insulated cup and this product appears to fill that need. The lid does not stay on. From the time the cup arrived it was loose fitting. Today I knocked it over. The lid came off, the coffee ran across the table and then down to an expensive rug. I used words I rarely use since leaving the army. This thing may a quick trip to the trash where it belongs. It is not dishwasher safe and is difficult to clean.

The mug itself is very sturdy like all the other Copco mugs I''ve owned. The only complaint I have (and the reason why I can''t make it my hoped-for travel mug) is that the lid has no closing mechanism. With only one smallish photo to judge from, I took a calculated risk when purchasing, but will have to settle on this being my ''at home'' mug. I would recommend that the seller add a second photo from an overhead angle to clarify for folks like myself. After some more trial and error, I found a far superior Copco model, which you can see here:

  • Proven diaphragm design-Built to last
  • Durable steel shell
  • Can be installed horizontally

The tank seems to be working OK. It had a small dent that probably occurred during manufacturing not shipping. Since it is under sink, inside the cabinet it is not an issue.

I gave it 3 stars because it came without any documentation.

There is no certificate if it has been tested for pressure, or clean enough inside for drinking water. The pressure valve, covered with a cap, says that only professionals should touch it.

I am not a tank professional but would like to know what the set pressure is, just in case...

I purchased this tank to replace one that came with a Culligan system. It''s smaller than the old one, but the amount of water we''ve been getting out of the old tank was barely enough to fill a glass of water, so this is still a major improvement.

Hooking it up was simply, attach the valve, inserted the tube, and turned on the water.

BISSELL 2X Spot & Stain Save 27% Off

BISSELL 2X Spot & Stain, 32 Ounces, 79B9Ok, the soap itself does a great job but use less soap to water ratio than they suggest otherwise it attracts dirt to that spot. If you dilute it more it still does a GREAT job and the spot does not attract dirt.

Bissell''s Little Green carpet machine is a must have item in our house. We recently had a cat get sick and we dealt with throw up on a pretty much daily basis for 4+ months, sometimes 2-3 times a day. During that time we experimented with a lot of different soap products for the Green Machine and this 2X Advanced Formula was easily the best one that we tried, especially in regards to how your carpet smells after cleaning. This formula smells really nice and it works great on stains. Overall this is a great formula and a significant improvement over the non concentrate Bissell formula that we used to use.

We tried using a more dilute mixture with this, as one of the reviews on here suggests, and we simply didn''t get the same results. Don''t get me wrong, it wasn''t a huge difference but there was a noticeable difference. We tried multiple weaker dilutions side by side with the recommended dilution and there was a very clear difference. We dont have a problem with the soap attracting dirt as we always do a 100% water rinse after using soap. This was a tip passed down from our professional carpet guy that we bring in a couple times a year to clean our carpet. We have been using him for over 15 years and the man knows almost everything there is to know about carpets. He basically told us that if we were going to use bissell machines that we had to make sure to get all of the soap out of the carpet. This is an issue with the home carpet machines as they dont have anywhere near the suction that the professional machines have. The best way to make sure your getting the soap out is to do a 100% water rinse after using the soap. In fact, he recommended going over it twice with water. If you dont get all the soap up then yes, it will eventually dry and become sticky and this will attract dirt and make your carpet get dirty faster. On top of that, the soap itself can actually damage the carpet fibers when left on for long periods.

I personally recommend using this soap at the recommended dilution, especially if your dealing with a noticeably dirty carpet or a stain. Just make sure you go back over it one or two times with just water to make use your getting all of the soap up. That''s how we do it and we have had nothing but great results. Then again, I would recommend doing the water rinse even if you did decide to dilute this formula a bit more.

Bottom line We consider our Bissell an absolute godsend and have no doubt whatsoever that our carpet would have been toast a LONG time ago if it weren''t for our Bissell. With that being said, this 2x Advanced Formula is the best cleaning formula we have tried yet. Together with a Bissell...well, they create a one two punch that very few stains can stand up too. If you have kids or animals, a Bissell and a bottle of 2x Advanced Cleaning Formula should be considered absolutely mandatory!

Old Friend Women''s 441165 Loafer Moccasin

Womens Loafer Moccasin ShoesThese slippers are absolutely fantastic. They are unbelievably comfortable, and the sheepskin is soft enough that they can be worn with socks or without.

The insole is removable and fully washable. It comes out fairly easily if you''re trying to get it out, but the insides of the slippers are fluffy enough that it stays put otherwise.

They might not be the most stylish slippers... but who cares?

When I bought the shoes, I had little knowledge of the brand. My coworker wore a pair of her Old Friends to work, and that''s how I first came in contact with them. Her''s were well-worn and well-loved. She said she couldn''t get rid of them because they were so comfortable. Even with a ripped sole, mashed-down sheepskin interior and a filthy exterior, I knew I''d love them, too.

So I got on Amazon and checked the reviews. There were only 2. One gave it 5 stars, one gave it 1 star. Didn''t bother looking at the good review (it''s good...that''s all I needed to know). Instead, I read the one-star review. Ordered them anyway.

Just got them this morning in the mail, and I''ve just slipped my feet into them. What I can say is this: The person who gave these amazing shoes 1 star must have ridiculously fat feet. They feel like heaven.

I''ve been looking for a shoe that''s comparable to an Ugg (But without the ridiculously overpriced price tag). These are all-that and more (a little homely looking, but definitely worth overlooking once your toes come in contact with the genuine sheepskin lining).

I got the hard outsole so I could "accidentally" wear them to work when I left the house without changing my shoes in the morning. I love the sheepskin lining, I love the removable insole, and I love the fact that the insole is padded. It''s like walking on little puffs of heaven.

No really. It is.

So far my feet haven''t overheated. If I had to come up with a complaint... it''d be that I''d want them to be a little more stylish. And to have a *slightly* roomier toe box. It''s a bit narrow, and I DO have skinny feet. Either way, very happy about my purchase and thinking of giving everyone a pair for their birthday/holiday/whatever present.

Please buy them! You''ll love them!

UPDATE:

So, I have been wearing these slippers almost daily for the last four months, without socks. The slippers are still comfortable, but the arch support has collapsed a bit, which I imagine is normal. Also, unfortunately, the slippers are becoming too smelly to wear! I don''t know if this is because I''ve been wearing them without socks, or because they are closed slippers (not slip-ons), or some other reason. But it is troublesome, and I am considering some open slippers.

----------------------------------------

Ok. I spent a RIDICULOUS amount of time researching sheepskin slippers. Ridiculous. I knew I wanted moccasin-style real sheepskin slippers, preferably with some arch support, and with a sole that wasn''t just a hard layer of rubber. After returning one pair of Smart Dogs, and nearly purchasing a pair of the really expensive ones, I got these today. And... I love them! They are exactly the old-man ugly slippers I was looking for.

One consideration: Several of the reviewers commented on the sizing, that they run rather large. I think this is true-I am a pretty regular size 8, I ordered the size 8, and they were big right out of the box, slipping off the heel. So, if you have a bit of patience and are willing to take the time to stretch them out, then ordering a size down is probably the way to go. Or, as I did, you can tie the laces tighter to accommodate for the larger sizing. It''s really just a matter of preference.

I highly recommend these slippers. They will be one of those items I''ll wear until they are all worn out. An added bonus... I have cracked and extremely dry feet, especially this winter. To my surprise, after wearing the slippers for only 2 weeks, my feet are all soft again and the cracks are about 90% gone. Hope they keep making these.

I love everything about this slipper, I order them every year for both myself & my son. The are very well constructed and have great arch support-I love the cushy insole they added last year-it feels snug at first but quickly conforms to your foot. I solved the problem of the removeable (great for washing) insole slipping out with a piece of 2 sided tape on the bottom-works great! I especially love the way I can go outside in our rainy Northern California winters and not get wet shoes or slip (they have great non skid bottoms)! I have tried other well known brands but never got the quality I find in Old Friend-they are truly my favorites!

Keurig Water Filter Replacement Starter Kit Save 25% Off

Keurig Water Filter Replacement Starter KitThis water filter is an excellent accessory for a Keurig coffee maker.

Our water is pretty hard, though it tastes fine. I was using tap water that I ran through a Brita pitcher. That was fine, but there''s always a certain amount of water left in the Keurig reservoir after the coffee was done, and I was pouring it down the drain. This filter, in effect, cuts out the middle man by filtering the water in the reservoir.

I''ve been using it for about a month, and I can''t see any kind of scale or buildup anywhere. I''m happy about that, because I was worried that our hard water would cause me problems sooner or later.

There are some negative reviews here, but I think they''re more related to the installation process for the filter, rather than the filter itself. It''s a good idea to look carefully at the filter holder and the fitting at the bottom of the reservoir that it snaps on to before trying to install it. There''s only one way it will go on correctly, and it takes a little force and some dexterity to get it seated properly. It''s also critically important to follow the instructions for soaking the filter element in advance and rinsing it off well. It''s not hard to get it on correctly, but it does take a bit of thought and careful attention to detail.

I think this filter system is well worth the price. I''m happy I bought it, and I''d do so again if I had it to do over.

This water filter works great for us. We have very hard water and it took less than a month for the scale to start accumulating in the bottom of the reservoir. Although the filter takes a little force to get a tight fit, it appears to be doing a great job!!! We''ve had it installed for about 2-3 weeks now and reservoir is clean as a whistle. Personally, I don''t see a difference in taste, but the taste of our straight tap water really has never bothered me. I wanted the filter to preserve the inner workings of the coffee machine, and I have no doubt that this filter will be able to do the job.

For what it''s worth, I imagine the bad reviews are related to some difficulty getting a proper fit??? I initially thought something was wrong with mine and even went so far as to unscrew the fitting on the Reservoir. With the removed fitting in one hand and the filter in the other, I was able to see how they mated. So I put everything back togeter and bingo bongo.

I have a Keurig Elite and had been using bottled water. I received the filter for Christmas. It took two tries to situate it correctly and the water did not filter through the first time. I had not had my first cup of coffee yet so I think it was more my fault than anything with the filter. After waiting a few minutes and trying again (letting it soak up enough water??), it worked like a charm. So far so good. Machine is working fine, coffee tastes fine. I strongly suggest you follow the directions for rinsing the filter before putting it in the reservoir as there is charcoal seeping out of it until it is rinsed thoroughly. I am due to descale in a week or two. That will be the true test, but I have no complaints.

BISSELL Little Green ProHeat Turbo Carpet Cleaner Save 2% Off

BISSELL Little Green ProHeat Turbo Carpet Cleaner, 1425BBefore I got this carpet cleaner, I bought the cordless Bissell Spot Lifter. I sent the Spot Lifter back because it would work only 5 minutes before you had to recharge the battery (12 hours). Even though Little Green isn''t cordless, it is small and lightweight and works incredibly well.

We had old pet stains on our cream colored carpeting and since we got the Little Green, we''ve been able to get all of them up from the carpet. Whenever our dog creates other messes, we''re able to take the cleaner out right away and clean it up without having to go through too many steps to get the Little Green ready for use. I would recommend this to anyone, especially those with pets and small children -I don''t know why I didn''t get this months before -its made a huge difference in the look of our carpet and well worth the price.

As others have stated it works well when it works. I was really happy with the way it cleaned. I especially liked the turbo brush. But when I went to use it for only the second time the sprayer wouldn''t work a frequent complaint I understand. You don''t have to be particularly handy to fix it. You need a screw driver, a pair of pliers and a paper clip. Unplug the machine. Take the four screws from the top out. Pull the top up. Underneath you will see a black box with 4 screws undo. Underneath the cover is heater box. Lift up and undo the 5 screws on the bottom. You will see what is causing the problem. You don''t need to disconnect the wires. Release the clamps holding the plastic tubes with the pliers and gently remove the tubes. Use the paper clip, opened, to clean out the holes in the heater. It did not take long at all.

Folks, it isn''t so much a design flaw, rather its as much a problem with the chemistry. Jets only get clogged if soap solutions are too concentrated, the water used is dirty, or some chemistry conspires to build up lime or sludge.

I have a proheat clearview upright... used it for over 3 years now. Noticed the spray wasn''t as zippy for the past two years as I seemed to recall when we first bought it. Tonight, it wouldn''t spray at all. Thought: bad belt, but the belt was fine. Thought: clogged sprayers (these are a bit larger than on your model), but they both were fine. Traced the lack of pressure all the way to the heater block in the neck of the beast. Called Bissell and a really nice rep kindly told me they aren''t allowed to sell me that heater block. Something about insurance (blame your neighbors who are all to happy to sue at the drop of a hat -none of us here are that shallow, are we?)

Anyway -one of you told the story of the repair guy taking the heater apart. I never would have thought they made the thing servicable -but sure enough! I removed the heater carefully, marking all of the wire colors and which hose was which, flipped it over to find 7 screws holding a bottom plate. Carefully removed them so as not to damage the silicon seal or the 5 littel o-rings, took a toothbrush and scrubbed the soap goo out of the channels... one of the nozzles was choked closed, but a pipe cleaner and some patience got it looking nearly new. Carefully screwed it back together, tightening evenly -rebuilt the beast and it''s cleaning like it hasn''t in years. Probably piss off Bissell service shops by telling this, but maybe the handier of you will benefit.

My husband is not the "chore type" so when he came home with this machine and set it up, I assumed he would leave it for me to do the actual work of cleaning up the many spots on our carpet. Imagine my surprise when he spent the next hour on his knees searching out every little stain and spill he could find in our four bedroom house -and attacking it. It truly is satisfying to see those stains disappear (even the oldest ones) with so little effort. For some time, I had been loath to call the carpet cleaners, since all they really do is pitch unwanted services, and, since their last visit, we had owned two dogs in rapid succession. You can imagine. Then there was the miracle it worked on the carpet areas of my minivan that aren''t covered by mats. It even got the red drink up. I''m sold!

Want BISSELL Little Green ProHeat Turbo Carpet Cleaner Discount?

After doing my research into carpet cleaners, I bought the bissell little green pro heat thinking that it looked like a great product. The heating option sounded great to me, hot water meant cleaner results right? Well, After having it for only one year, I have had to have it REPAIRED THREE TIMES! And after getting to watch the repairman take it apart and fix it he showed me exactly what was wrong with it. There is a metal box that the water passes through to heat it and if you use any soap in the water, the soap gets too hot and gums it up. Whe the repairman opened this box up, it was full of jelly like goo. This clogs up the sprayer, and you get no spray. It has to be taken completly apart to be fixed. It is VERY FRUSTRAITING! This happened three times to me, even after making sure I used only clean, filtered, plain water. The repairman said that he has had to repair several with the same problem. I suggest you buy another brand, or one without the heater. It has only been a source of frustration!

Mr. Coffee ECM250 4-Cup Espresso/Cappuccino Maker Save 9% Off

Mr. Coffee ECM250 4-Cup Espresso/Cappuccino MakerI got this little machine as I''m always in Starbucks. I wanted a nice little alternative for nights and weekends when I felt like having an espresso based drink without having to drive to a coffee shop and shell out cash.

First, the good points of this machine:

-It''s small, so you can easily store it inside a cabinet. It''s not bad looking, however, so if you can sacrifice a little counter space, that works just as well.

-The machine is very simple to use. I have my own bean grinder, but you can get yours ground at Starbucks if you buy it there. You simply scoop the beans into the holder, screw into the machine, put water in the reservoir, turn on, and there you go.

-It''s relatively quick to brew the espresso and it doesn''t take too long to clean most of the parts.

Now, the bad:

-The biggest issue I''ve had with this machine is that it basically brews strong coffee, not espresso. I''ve tried a variety of ways of packing the beans, etc, but getting a crema with this machine eludes me. If you''re a beginner at this stuff, it''s not a big deal as the drinks will still taste alright. However, it''s not really espresso in the full sense. You may as well just buy a coffee maker.

-The frothing wand is of okay size, but it seems like it takes forever to heat milk up to a desirable temperature for a drink.

Overall, not bad for a starter machine, but it''s just that. If you want anything that will give you a crema and legitimate shot of espresso, shell out some more money and get a Delonghi. They''re by no means perfect, but it will give you a more legitimate shot of espresso than this machine. However, if you''re just starting with all of this and want to make a decent cappuccino occasionally, this isn''t a bad machine.

I received the Mr. Coffee Espresso/Cappuccino Maker as a gift. Obviously it''s not going to produce the same results as some of the more expensive models but I think it works well enough for personal use. It''s very simple to use-it only has two functions: brew or steam.

I noticed that several people commented about leaking and the instructions warn that this can occur if there are grounds around the top of the filter or if you over-fill the filter. The frothing arm is very short but I found a small frothing pitcher at World Market that works well. As far as worrying about aluminum in your espresso, the instructions also warn that you shouldn''t leave water in the reservoir when you''re not using the machine. The only other thing to remember is that you MUST de-pressurize the system before removing the filter holder or water reservoir cap!! To do this, unplug the machine, wait for it to cool off, then turn the knob to "steam" until you hear the hissing stop.

I think that for the price, this machine produces a nice cup of espresso in a relatively short amount of time.

I used this espresso machine a couple times a week for about 3 years and liked it a lot; however, yesterday morning I was frothing the milk and it exploded. I looked at the cap (over the water reservoir) and it was split. Scalding water shot out of that split, luckily it went all over the wall and not toward me. If you have this machine, consider releasing the pressure from the water reservoir after every use and the cap may last longer, but I for one am switching brands. This scared the heck out of me and after looking online, I see that it has happened to others. Be aware.

This is my third espresso maker. The other two machines were a different brand and worked well for many years. This Mr. Coffee unit worked well for about 5 months and then started failing. It now makes only about one third of a caraff, and then just spits out weak steam. I will never buy a Mr. Coffee product again. It takes me a while to get used to a new machine, and I find it galling to have the thing fail soon after I get used to it. Better to spend a little more and have a product that lasts. My last K---espresso maker lasted for over 5 years before it developed a pin hole leak in the pressure chamber. UPDATE; I just realized after looking inside the boiler and seeing that it was slightly eaten away that we have been ingesting aluminum over the past few months. When I opened and took apart my my last K---s espresso maker, I noticed that the bottom of the boiler was eaten away to the point that it had developed a pin hole leak. I think most of the less expensive machines use aluminum boilers which slowly dissolve into the water over time and use. Even distilled water is slightly acidic and will cause this to happen. There is NO way that I will ever again buy an espresso maker that has a boiler composed of aluminum!! Stainless steel might cost a little more, but at least you don''t wind up eating aluminum while drinking your espresso. It''s just one more thing to check when you make your purchase.

I''ve been a barista at Starbucks for 1.2 years now, and when my room mates found this little espresso machine in the basement, I have to say, I was not only REALLY excited but also a bit surprised by how well it steams milk. It is difficult to clean the steam wand, though. You have to wipe the milk off of the wand immediately after steaming the milk otherwise it cakes on. I''ve also noticed the steam wand nozzle is a bit prone to clogging. To solve this, fill the pitcher 3/4 full of water, and steam the water for about 2 minutes until it clears. This is great for people who want to save money but don''t want to give up their morning latte. Check your local Starbucks to see if they''ll sell you a bottle of your favorite syrup or maybe even give you hints on steaming the perfect milk! Not to mention Starbucks sells espresso pounds and will happily grind them to your machine.

Pros:

-CHEAP. Holy crap this is so cheap in comparison to the nice espresso machines I''ve seen elsewhere.

-Good foam! Huge plus for people who like cappuccinos. For those of you who hate foam, you''re better off warming a saucepan of milk on your stove.

Makes a lot of espresso. I forgot that my work machines time shots and stop pouring. I left it for a minute and came back to a mug full of espresso.

You can use any milk you want! Starbucks only has soy, so if you prefer almond or coconut milk, here''s your chance!

Compact. The size is pretty darn small. It''s about the size of a gallon of milk.

Cons:

Tricky to clean. Pretty huge con with the steam wand. Not impossible, though. Just takes a little muscle. Everything else wipes off pretty well. I use a butter knife to get the espresso out of the espresso... thing.

A bit on the messy side, but as I just found the bottom tray for the machine, I think this will be a bit less of a problem. Watch out for hot water spitting out of the steam wand.

Definitely not child friendly. The steam wand heats up, and the steam can burn if you''re not careful. Not to mention the metal pitcher heats up for milk (this should go without saying, though).

Bonus recipes:

Americano: espresso and water

Latte: espresso, steamed milk, flavor if wanted, light foam

Mocha: espresso, steamed milk, chocolate sauce

Cappuccino: espresso, light steamed milk, lots of foam

Chai latte: chai concentrate, steamed milk

My favorite is a soy latte sweetened with honey and some cinnamon :9 Made on this morning, in fact.

Protip: It''s ES-presso, not EX-presso.

  • All steel construction; Made in USA
  • Jumbo car vac with 4.0 peak HP, twin-fan, industrial quality motor, produces 95-Inch of water lift, 120-Volt, 11.25 amps, 1,350-Watt
  • 24-Feet flexible hose (four 6-Feet sections)
  • High capacity, central vacuum system for the entire garage
  • Includes wall mount bracket, upholstery tool, crevice tool, dust brush, powerizer air maximizer, Magic-Air inflator nozzle, 4-Piece detailing tool kit, swivel wall and floor brush and two 20-Inch extensions

The vacuum cleaner arrived with no real instructions, just a sheet of paper with a drawing showing the parts, which was confusing. My model didn''t have some of the parts shown on the drawing, and it had others that weren''t there. Have so far used the vacuum for cleaning the car and it''s very good. Have yet to try the leaf blowing option. The unit itself wheels around like a small canon. Hoses have good suction, even when fully extended. I would recommend it, but wish it came with proper instructions for both vacuuming and blowing.

I got tired of lugging the house vacuum cleaner into the garage to use, and then struggling with the short hose, etc. Bought one of these, with enough extension hoses to reach 24 ft. When wall mounted in the garage, the vacuum cleaner works well; 24 ft of hose doesn''t reduce performance much at all. Suction is very strong. I''m pretty happy about being able to vacuum the two cars in the garage without ever having to move the small vacuum itself.

Lately, I''ve taken to using it around the house since it is so much more portable than the house vacuum cleaner! I should have bought one much earlier!

This product performed exactly as expected. The long hose is a series of shorter hoses that connect so you can adjust to the proper length. Suction/blowing power is sufficient for inside car cleaning and outside water blowing after wash. The canister has a set of wheels for easy movement, you don''t need the wall mount. I have not tried it for leaf blowing yet as the main purpose was for car maintenance. There is an assortment of nozzles that contribute to the product''s utility. Electrical cord is sufficiently long for most tasks.

If you own a Dyson you know what having a great vacuum is like. Well this is not a Dyson. I mean it works really well--just not a Dyson.

Now on to the blower. I was hoping I could dry my vehicles with this. You can if you have about an hour or so. You have to be like an inch away from the water to really blow any water off. It works decent around the grill and trim work but not so hot for blowing the water off your paint. Overall it is pretty nice to have in my garage just a little pricey and blower function is limited to blowing water off of small areas.

These fit my Kenmore Reverse Osmosis (450/ 650) under sink RO filter. They are expensive because they are self-contained, not just a filter that goes into the filter housing. Sears is selling a pair at ovre $80. I bought a set from Sears in June for $45, hence the online look about for something at a reasonable price. I think that the filter unit itself will have to go in a year or so, because of the filter costs.

Micromax Granular Model 90505

Micromax Granular Model 90505I raise citrus, avocados and stonefruit and have soil that is naturally nearly devoid of organic material. Regular fertilizer is unable to provide the micronutrients that these types of orchard trees need. My decomposed granite based soil is also unable to provide nor to hold nutrients easily so a granular type of product is needed to slow down their release. While expensive this stuff is great. I use it in an integrated pest and plant stress management system that work for very high yield in very dense orchard planting conditions.

Because of this small problem it received 4 stars instead of 5. Oh, we used water in the base.

There was an issue with the original shipment. One phone call to the company''s customer service and the rep, Nancy, understood the problem and worked to solve the problem and shipped me a replacement section which arrived within days.

Omega 1000 Juicer Save 16% Off

Omega 1000 JuicerMy experience is limited to the Omega 1000 and 4000. Both are very good machines, but one of them has some distinct advantages.

As the other reviewers have noted, this machine is very solidly built & should easily outlast the 15 year warranty. In fact, it might outlive the 4000.

Why? Because the 4000 is so much more pleasant to use that you will use it more, because the operating principle is a little different.

Both machines have a chute that you feed fruits & vegatables into. At the bottom of the chute is a stainless steel disc/blade that grinds up the food into a pulp.

On the 1000 model, the pulp is thrown out by centrifugal force into a drum that is just like a washing machine drum it is perforated stainless that traps the pulp on the inside and allows the juice to strain out. Just like on a washing machine spin cycle, it is possible to get the contents out of balance so that the whole machine shakes & makes a real racket! This is very easy to do on the 1000 if you load apples or other foods with skins, because the skin will often stay intact so it has to go on one spot on the drum, throwing it out of balance like a pair of jeans. There are some "tricks" that help in this case, such as saving some carrots for this emergency. Many times feeding a carrot will stop the shaking.

Another consequence of the "spin-cycle" approach is that after you have feed a few pieces of fruit, the pulp in the drum can clog, trapping all the juice inside. This happens especially when you try to juice bananas, pineapple or strawberries. I am able to do strawberries & bananas with the 4000 as long as I alternate fruits. The bananas still goo up the insides, but a couple slices of apple get things flowing again. With the 1000, it was a lost cause.

The model 4000 works differently because the spinning drum is cone-shaped, which forces the pulp to ride up the sides of the drum for a brief period & then it flies out into a pulp ejector chute. This means the 4000 never gets the shakes like the 1000, and also the drum stays much cleaner, which allows you to keep juicing much longer. For example, this morning I juiced apples, carrots, celery and grapes in that order on both the 4000 and 1000. Although in both cases I got exactly 12.5 ounces of juice, the juice from the 1000 had no grape color and less grape flavor, because a thick layer of pulp had built up on the inside, which absorbed most of the grape juice.

The other advantage of the 4000 is that it when you turn it off, it stops in just a few seconds. On the 1000, it continues to spin for much longer because of the heavy food in the drum, dribbling all the while and sometimes walking across your countertop!

So I give 5 stars to the 4000, and only 4 stars to the 1000. The 1000 does have an optional citrus juicing attachment that is rather nice. If you can''t stand pulp, the 1000 also accepts some very inexpensive coffee-filter-like filters that virtually eliminate pulp from the apple-carrot-celery etc. types of juices and make cleanup easier. You really can''t use them with tomatoes, strawberries, etc., because it will clog instantly.

Cleanup is pretty easy on both, once you get the hang of it. The only tricky part is getting the pulp out of the strainer. I use a stainless scrubby pad gently on both sides, which seems to work well on both models.

The 1000 is better than I am describing, but loses a star for occasional vices.

This juicer has been great. It juices anything we throw at it. Very powerful motor. Very little vibration. Super high quality!

We''ve made all kinds of juices, but especially like vegetable (beets, carrots, etc.) and fruit (cherries, strawberries, etc.) mixes.

The only drawback I''ve found is that the basket that holds the pulp is a little hard to clean. It''s not as bad as it could be, but does require a bit of time to get all the pulp out. We''ve found that a vegetable (stiff bristled) brush makes this go a lot faster.

I didn''t rate it 5 stars because of that (somewhat hard to clean) and also that the capacity of juicing is smaller than what some people might need. I suspect you could get about 2, maybe 3 cups of juice before having to remove the pulp. If you wanted more you could just start over. I can imagine for some people (or commercial operations) this would be a drawback.

If I were to get another juicer, I''d definitely buy an Omega. The quality surpasses others I have seen.

I''ve had my Omega 1000 juicer for about a year. I used it around 30 times when POOF! That was it, the motor burned out. Then I spent five minutes on the Web to discover that it''s a "1/3 horsepower" juicer. That''s a little less than 250 watts.

Other models like the L''Equip 110.5 Mini Pulp Ejector Juicer (rated better and less expensive than the Omega 1000) put out 600 watts. Even the Omega 8005 produces only 1/3 horsepower.

If you go to Bizrate.com, on the page where the 8005 is displayed, it posts a power rating of 1/3 hp. Yet if you click on the "" next to the "Power" heading, you''re told:

"Power: Determine the wattage rating on the juicer. If you''re juicing hard produce, the more watts, the better. A motor rating of 450 watts or greater is recommended."

Translated to hp, Bizrate.com recommends a bit more than 1/2 horsepower as the minimum acceptable hp. Shame on me for not spending the time to research this before buying.

I''m not abusive with mechanical devices. I was grinding a tough material, parsley. That''s supposed to be OK. I let up evertime the RPM''s slowed significantly, i.e., I was careful. Bizrate.com''s advice is right on the mark: 250 watts (1/3 hp) just isn''t enough. Don''t buy this or any sub-.5 hp juicer unless you''re juicing material that''s already soft.

I bought this juice from my local health food store a couple of months ago. I should have done more research before buying it.

A few folks have commented about the off-balance spin cycle effect of this juicer. I thought that would just be a minor issue. I''ve since discovered that it''s anything but minor. When off balance, the whole juicer literally jumps around the counter, vibrating out of control. It''s more than just a big racket. When it happens, I can''t even get to the on/off switch, so I have to unplug it to get it to stop. By then I have a real mess on my hands. It''s downright scary when this happens. I am apparently not skilled enough to consistently feed this juicer with the right size or balance of fruits and vegetables. I''ve decided to quit using the juicer, just out of safety concerns.

Want Omega 1000 Juicer Discount?

I had this unit since early 1999 and juice often. While it is true this machine doesn''t eject the pulp as you go, it''s more efficient at extracting juice. I typically can juice a large cucumber along with a large, entire stalk of celery, before there''s just too much in the unit, and it gets out of balance. When the unit gets heavily out of balance, it will vibrate rather loudly, but the solution is simple: turn it off, wait until it stops spinning, clean it out, and off you go. This vibration is what another reviewer ignorantly writes about, and said he had to send his unit back in. That''s simply not fair or well-informed feedback on this wonderful unit.

This is like the Maytag of juicers!

Bunn A10 Pour-O-Matic Coffee Brewer

Bunn A10 Pour-O-Matic Coffee BrewerWhen I was looking to purchase a new machine, I only was looking for a Bunn. Bunn makes the best coffee machines, none can compare. Every diner, coffee house, and Dunkin'' Donuts only use Bunn machines. The A10 is one great machine! Brews perfect cups of coffee hot and quickly. Everyone in my office is very happy with the unit. If you''re a serious coffee drinker, please don''t cheap out on a Mr.Coffee, Braun or Krupps-frankly they cannot brew coffee at the speed, temperature, or taste of a Bunn unit. I bought the A10 to replace a Bunn unit that I used for 10 years without a glitch.

I''ve seen other Bunn brewers run years under constant use and never wink out. If you are looking for a constant use brewer, especially for an office setting, this is it. Don''t skimp on a cheap, plastic Braun, Krups, or Mr. Coffee. This is an investment that will take the abuse of multiple office patrons.

Would you like to wake up feeling refreshed, and revitalized? Would you like feel like your rushed morning is just a little less hectic? You don''t need a morning exercise video, you need the Bunn A10, the Bunn of Steel!

The Bunn A10 isn''t just any old coffee maker, in fact, it isn''t just any old Bunn. This Bunn is a professional model, which means, it is the same model you would find at a small IHOP, or Waffle House, or any other restaurant which has the need of a single hotplate coffee maker. The difference between this and MOST commercial models is that most can brew two pots (reg and decaf) at once, and have three hotplates. This one is more suited for home use, while retaining the commercial heavy usage capabilities.

This model isn''t some modernized sleek brewer with a million plastic parts built to last for 2 years. This is a metal plated bad boy with few working parts, and a mechanics sensibility in design. The metal spray head is replacable, and they have plastic ones for hard water. The heater unit has its own power switch in addition to the on/warmer/off switch.

Bunn''s brew fast by keeping a reservoir of water hot at all times, and the water you pour in today will be tomorrows hot coffee. The taste of the coffee is superb, but it takes more grinds to get it strong. The carafe you get with this unit is not the one pictured, which looks just like the commercial carafes, which was a bit of a disappointment at first. The carafe is the NCD decanter, which is more drum shaped and has the flip up lid. This is better for home use, as we found out later, since it is very easy to clean.

If you are looking for a coffee pot built like a tank, built to last, which makes great coffee quick, saving you precious morning minutes, I would say look no further. You have found your machine.

Highly recommended.

Detailed Commentary

I recently received delivery on my Bunn Model A-10 coffee brewer. This is the pourover model, not the automatic. I purchased it for my home kitchen.

Out of the box...

Weighing in at 14 pounds, this is no lightweight machine. The unit was delivered directly from Bunn and I found it to be packaged tight with nothing broken. When I placed it on the kitchen counter, all I could think was "this thing is all business". Yes, it is a categorized as a commercial unit, however, it is not industrial looking like the Bunn unit you would see at your local coffee shop. It is civilized and stylish. There are no color choices. Black and high polish steel with an almost chrome appearance, Bunn logo up front. There is a very visible warning label behind the decanter which reveals it''s commercial heritage, but it is easily removed if desired. Although the unit is only 6.75 inches wide, it is 13.5 inches deep. This takes up a good 2/3 of a standard countertop depth including room for the cord. It is a very serious piece of hardware and sure to be a topic of conversation when guests arrive.

Set Up...

As the instruction manual warns, you cannot plug the A10 in immediately and start brewing. The internal tank needs to be filled with water prior to powering. This water remains in the unit at all times. The manual calls for 2 full pitchers of water and remainder will run off from the sprayhead. Once plugged in, the vacation switch is powered on. This switch remains on unless you plan to be away for several days or more. Then the warmer switch is turned on which controls only the porcelain warming plate. There is no auto shut-off feature, so you need to shut it off manually. Within 10 minutes the water in the internal tank reaches the proper temperature for brewing which, according to the manual, is approx. 200 F. I have not verified that temperature...yet.

Time to Brew...

Ground coffee is placed in the brew funnel and slid into place. The brew funnel is sturdy plastic, one-piece design, but I believe a stainless steel funnel would have better complemented the overall construction of machine. There is no "start" button or switch. You had better have that decanter in place. Once the water is poured into the screened opening on top of unit, brewing starts immediately as there is already water at 200 F in the brewer. The new water poured into machine is in turn quickly heated in the internal tank. Measurements are somewhat confusing. The clear plastic water pitcher supplied with brewer has graduations measured in 12 ounce increments, total of 48 ounces. The increments on the glass decanter, however, are measured in 2 cup increments, total of 10 cups. I calculated each cup measure to be 5 ounces. Depending on the strength of coffee you prefer, it takes some experimenting to get it just right.

Taste...

Bunn A10 brewer $230.00. Great tasting coffee Priceless.

The hefty price tag paid was worth while. Very smooth, rich full bodied taste is achieved with no bitterness, just like my local coffee shop. I believe the secret lies in the five-jet stainless sprayhead which evenly saturates the grinds, proper water temperature and tried/tested design. No disappointments and highly recommended.

I ordered this RO system based both on the price and that the included components look pretty similar to other RO systems that cost a bit more. (And really, they do all use the same basic components.)

Unfortunately, I had a couple broken parts, one missing part, and may have had some extra parts! (It was hard to tell, since the manual wasn''t translated very well.) I did go find manuals for similar products, but that doesn''t help much with missing/broken parts... (Another reviewer noted mis-labeled connections, etc, which did seem to be the case when looking at other manuals.)

The half-incomprehensible manual had no manufacturer contact info; I''d hoped to get just the broken/missing bits replaced, since this is obviously a large item to ship. Contacting the seller (LilGift) directly even though the item was fulfilled by Amazon didn''t help either, since I never got a reply.

So, unable to find the correct parts, and with no contact info...I ended up returning the whole unit, after over a week of screwing around with trying to get it to work with similar parts. I imagine someone with more plumbing skills may have been able to get my unit to work, though I''m not sure about that. But that shouldn''t matter...unless they advertise the unit as "advanced plumbing skills required, random additional parts may be needed."

Honestly, you''d probably be better off just buying the filter components, a tank, a tap, and then getting the other plumbing bits separately, rather than buying this item! (Since this item seems to expect an excess level of DIY anyways...may as well just get the same parts yourself.)

In short: this is probably a decent RO system if you''re adept at plumbing and can figure out workarounds for likely-inevitable installation issues; it''s really just a kit of the required parts that you could buy separately. If you''re not-so-into plumbing, a different manufacturer (e.g., with contact info and a legible manual) would probably make more sense, if you expect to get any sort of installation help, replacement parts, or warranty!

This is the 2nd time they keep asking me to review this, and the last time I will do it. The RO water filtration unit was received in a damaged state. I had to go purchase 3 broken plastic connectors for the plastic hose. Next I had to determine where they broke off from, but the pieces inside the threaded tank and filters were not whole, making it impossible to tell where they went. I was able to get a schematic on-line from a competitor site to determine location of damaged connectors and where the broken lines went. I went to the same site when the instructions failed to mention any start up instructions.

I put these in every home I buy and I buy and sell a lot of them. For some reason the buyers take them out. I keep them for as long as I live in the homes and once installed they function well. Don''t trust that all connections will be secure from the factory though. Tighten everything as if it all came in pieces...
