This unit is a great little device for making strong coffee (somewhere between espresso and regular coffee, closer to the espresso side) in an elegant way, and it''s designed to last a long time.

The coffee produced is extracted using steam that is generated when the bottom part of the pot gets heated from placing the unit on a stove top. You have to experiment to find the right low-to-medium heat to get the best results. Too low and it will not boil, but you probably want it just above that and not too hot. I have found a setting where it will boil in 5 mins, and then the coffee comes up in 1 minute or less. So, a total of 6 minutes, which is not bad at all. As mentioned, what''s produced is close to what we call "espresso" in the US, but it is not the same thing. It is not as strong and with not quite the same taste as full-blown espresso created using an automatic or semi-automatic espresso maker. It''s much stronger and more flavorful than regular coffee, though. I used the same Intelligentsia Coffee House Blend (a great coffee) through my French press and then the Moka pot, and the taste difference was eye-opening. Apparently, these stove-top coffee makers are the norm in Italy, and practically everybody has one.

If you enjoy taking your time making your coffee, this is a beautiful unit that creates great coffee (and apparently it gets better over time, as the coffee oils seep into the aluminum). And as mentioned, it''s actually not that slow. It''s a nice "coffee ritual." It''s made in Italy. It only has three parts, which are easy to clean and look virtually impossible to break, so it will last.

The only potential downsides are:

(a) you need coffee ground to the correct size. Either you should get pre-ground Illy Coffee or else you should get a good grinder that can grind to just above espresso fineness. When using whole bean coffee, our old blade grinder does not work well at all with this (sometimes it''s acceptable, sometimes hardly any coffee comes out), but we have a Vario on the way, so all is good... But it is a given that a grinder is extremely important regardless of what method of coffee brewing you use. So -get a good grinder!

(b) you can only make the same amount of coffee each time. For example, we have the version that says 6 on the side (6 cup?) and it makes just enough for my wife and myself. (It doesn''t actually make 6 cups, as far as I can tell -it''s more like 2 cups for us). That is, you cannot just put in less ground coffee and less water to make less coffee. If you do that, the mechanics of the steam don''t work and you won''t get proper coffee as a result. So, make sure you get the correct size for your use.

This thing is so cheap and well-made that anyone who loves coffee should have one around to try out or for occasional use. Ours will get regular use, alternating with our French press. I was very happy to find this.

The Bialetti Moka Express 3-Cup Coffeemaker is fantastic. I enjoy it immensely. Word of warning, don''t forget to put water in it before placing on the stove! And if you have a gas stove with an open flame, do not use a flame that exceeds the size of the coffeemaker. The handle will melt.

Too many words would ruin the simplicity and elegance. It simply makes delicious espresso, quickly and with a minimum of effort. Cleans up in about 2 minutes...I take mine camping.

The "cup" ratings are for small, traditional sized espresso cups. If you like to pour a mug full of espresso, then divide the cup rating by 4 to arrive at an approximate size for your "machine". My nine cup maker gives me 2 full sized mugs of rich coffee. For you "crema" people...there is none.

It is inexpensive, relative to plug in type machines, so it is as nearly a risk free purchase as you can make. Enjoy.

Been using these stovetop espresso maker''s for 20 years. I was shocked to take my latest one out of it''s box and discovered it has all the substance of aluminum paper. I have older ones to compare it to. Not just insubstantial metal, but the quality of the threading between the top and the bottom you can hear crackly sound of bad metal and poor tolerances. I own the 3 cup model, and it is great!... but it was a bit small, so I wanted a larger capacity maker, so naturally I went to the 9 cup model. Big mistake! My 3 cup holds just over 1 US cup of water ( about 9 ounces) in the chamber, and I get about 8 ounces of finished product. Not a bad return!

The 9 cup model ( which should be three times larger) only hold about 2 US cups of water in the chamber ( 16 ounces) and because of the larger basket, and using three times more ground coffee, only produces one cup ( 8 ounces) of finished product ( about one cup of water is held in the coffee grounds).

Nice and simple pot. Has six hour timer, however, would like to have a longer delay for the day use. Also, when using the timer, it always resets the final temperature to 190 degree. Would be nice if it can "remember" the previous temperature setting. The inner container is coated with floury charcoal, not teflon coating that any other brands offer. It claims to bring out the fine taste of water. To me, at least it looks better than the grey teflon coating. Another feature missing is it does not come with the audible alarm.

Extra spec that I would like to know before ordering:

No audible alarm for any events.

I am a tea drinker, so this product is perfect for me. It is very convienient and handy. You can have clean hot water available all day long. At the end of the day, there is white precipitate material in the pot which I have frequently seen with kettle boiling water as well. So daily rinse with water after use is a good idea. If the deposites builds up significantly in the thermos pot, squeez half of a lemon in to the pot full of water and put it through the cleaning cycle gets rid of the deposits nicely. This product is 100 times better than kettle boiling water.

This is our second countertop water heater for teas/soups etc. The insulation in our first one (a zojirushi hand pump) broke down after four years. I got the item because it said it was a large purifier, I expected it to be a little bigger and hold a little more water. I can''t let it run throughout the day while at work because the water will evaporate below the minimum water level. Cleaning and setup is quick and easy. In appreciation for all those who write reviews I am writing this one. We installed this RO in a second home and it out produces any RO I have owned for the last 15 years or so I have used RO units. The pressure coming out of it is fantastic and the of course the water is great.

Looking down the road though, the replace cartridges (two) to take care of the 6 stage filtration is $150, way more than the standard RO filters we change every 6 to 12 months. Precision literature says our cost will be around a penney a gallon, well we will have to wait and see as we have a new installation. We love the small size and easy installation under any sink. Those with tight spaces will love it.

I just bought the Bissell SpotBot. As someone else mentioned, using the recommended amount of Oxy Gen2 would get expensive quickly. I measured the SpotBot tank volume markings, and it happens to be 14 oz water, 16 oz Oxy Gen2, and 1.5 oz of Pet Stain and Odor remover 2X concentrate. This one 31.5 oz of mixed solution will do two 6 minute set in stain cleanings. With Oxy Gen2 priced at about 6 buckeroos a 32 bottle, this could get expensive in a hurry.

So time for some sleuthing to determine what chemical composition Oxy Gen2 is made up of. Wasn''t hard to find. I Googled for the MSDS sheet, and it turns out Oxy Gen2 is nothing more than plain old hydrogen peroxide with a concentration of less than 5%.

Turns out you can buy 32 oz bottles of 3% hydrogen peroxide in the pharmacy areas of most retailers for less than one dollar!

I hate to burst everyone''s bubble. I''ve used this product with my Spotbot, because it came with it. I''ve used it in my Hoover Steamvac. I''ve used both the Spotbot and Steamvac without it. I have two kids and a dog that pees everywhere and I see no difference.

Spotbot is an excellent spot cleaner and it works perfectly well without OxyGen. I get all sorts of spots out with it and no need for OxyGen. Perhaps that''s why everyone is getting such marvelous results. It''s the Spotbot with regular detergent, not the OxyGen.

One big drawback to using OxyGen is the Spotbot manual instructs us to discard the unused solution if it contains OxyGen, meaning I can''t leave it in my Spotbot. I don''t have to do that with plain regular detergent. Since I must mix the OxyGen with water and detergent, I have to discard the detergent and OxyGen, which feels like a waste.

Personally, I don''t think this product does any harm. It just doesn''t do much good. Spend the extra money elsewhere.

A bottle was included in the Bissell SpotBot box along with sample bottles of the regular carpet cleaner. The sample bottle was used up quickly because so much must be added to fill the SpotBot cleaning reservoir up to the OXYGEN2 line. I didn''t notice any difference in results on the carpet whether or not I used this "next generation of oxygen boost", so I didn''t buy any more of it until recently. Several spots on the carpet hadn''t come clean even after several cycles with the SpotBot. Even a spritz of the normally reliable Rug Doctor spot cleaner couldn''t remove those recalcitrant spots. For seven dollars, the 32-ounce container of OXYGEN2 was worth a gamble. I was curious to see how it would fare.

The Tests

The SpotBot is a small machine that cleans carpet stains with a solution of water, cleaner, and, if desired, some OXYGEN2. It''s programmed to squirt on the solution, agitate the area with its circular brush, and then vacuum up the liquid. A beep alerts the user that the cycle is finished. Probably 98% of the time I get up spots easily with just water and half the recommended amount of soap. For the few failures Rug Doctor almost always come to the rescue. What I don''t like about it is the suggested ratio for the cleaning solution. The solution tank holds 32 ounces. When using OXYGEN2 the user is guided to use 16 ounces of OXYGEN2, and 8 ounces each of water and cleaner. The seven-dollar container of OXYGEN2 only holds 32 ounces, so those who follow directions will soon exhaust the supply. The cost factor and some skepticism are the reasons I hadn''t bought OXYGEN2 until now.

I decided to try the OXYGEN2 on some residual stains that were mostly late discovered stealth pee damages. There were four of them and with the OXYGEN2 all but three came clean. I decided to return to the one stubborn yellow tinged spot later.

I poured grape juice on two places on an old piece of carpet and cleaned with just water and cleaning solution. The grape juice came out totally. However, next to one grape juice spot was an old stain that had been there forever and hadn''t come clean whatsoever. Out of curiosity I squirted the spot with a little OXYGEN2 and cleaned it again with the SpotBot using OXYGEN2 in the solution. Amazingly the spot totally disappeared, and I was starting to become a believer in a product whose efficacy I had always doubted.

On two basement rugs I poured some grape juice, rubbed it in and let it set overnight. One of the two stains was pretreated with OXYGEN2. Twenty hours later I set the SpotBot on both using the recommended ration of solution with OXYGEN2. Both stains came out easily using the regular 3-minute cycle. I opted not to use the SpotBot''s six-minute set in stain option. Again, next to one of the grape juice stains was a very old stain that remained even after the OXYGEN2 bath. I poured OXYGEN2 directly on this stain of indeterminate age and origin. The stain actually seemed to dissolve somewhat right before my eyes. I then gave the ancient stain another go with the SpotBot and OXYGEN2. It came up totally!

There was more of the same ancient stain on another part of the rug so I attacked it with a nonOXYGEN2 solution and no pretreating to see what would happen. After the cleaning, the stain was a little less pronounced but definitely still there. A follow up with OXYGEN2 took it out.

For the grand finale I made two grape juice stains, gave each a topping of mustard, and let them sit overnight. Three cycles with the SpotBot and pretreatment with OXYGEN2 didn''t budge the mustard. If anything it accentuated and brightened the yellow. I pretreated the other stain with Rug Doctor stain remover and had better success, though a tinge of yellow remains in the carpet.

With the little bit of OXYGEN2 remaining I doused that previously cleaned stealth pee stain in Spud Central. After another run of the SpotBot over it, there was marked improvement, but not total cleansing. To be fair, OXYGEN2 is not for pet stains. Bissell markets another product for urine damage.

FINALLY I had mixed success with OXYGEN2. If I were to buy it again, I''d use it to pretreat stains or use it as a weapon of last resort. Using 16 ounces of OXYGEN2 per filling in the SpotBot or any other rug cleaner can get expensive.

Living Water Alkaline Water Ionizer

Before buying my alkaline water machine, I devoted an entire month to learning about the reasons for drinking alkaline water and looking into the various features and benefits of all the top-rated models. I recommend everyone considering one of these do the same. It was well worth the time and I learned a lot. I decided on the Living Water because I thought it was the best value and also the easiest one to use and lowest maintenance. The Living Water is the only one I came across that uses the single plate design, and the manufacturer has a patent on this and worked with the original inventor of the plate ionizer system to develop the new technology for the Living Water, which they call "DDI". The plates are what make the machines able to ionize the water, and they are covered with costly precious metals like gold and platinum which are needed for the ionization. The more plates there are, and the bigger they are, the more it costs to produce. The others use at least 7 or more (I saw as many as 10) plates, and they are larger than the plate used in the Living Water. From my research, I came to the conclusion that the extra and/or larger plates don''t do anything better, it''s just the older form of the technology that has been around for a while, and the Living Water is the only one to have the patent on the new single-plate system. The Living Water seemed to have all of the features of the most expensive water machines, some costing as much as $4-5,000.00, without the high price tag. We thought it would give us the best value for the price, which is around $2,000.00 at retail (but you can find it online for less so it''s worth taking the time to look). Also, the Living Water is the only one I could see that allows you to use hot water without damaging the inner construction of the machine. The replacement filters are very reasonably-priced. We have experienced some great benefits from using the Living Water. We have it installed on our kitchen counter right next to the sink. We use it for all drinking, cooking and cleaning, and it is very easy to change the pH settings to get the one you want for whatever particular purpose you have at the moment. I like the sleek design, too, and it looks very attractive in my modern kitchen. So far we have had no problems, but there is a 5-year warranty which was another important consideration when we made our decision. The alkaline water tastes great and you can make wonderful iced tea without even heating the water. Love it!

I studied ionizers for a few months. I had one all picked out when I encountered a salesman who was demoing this machine along with two other products. I was offered the bundle for $2000. I didn''t pass it up, and I''m glad. I hate going anywhere now and having to drink other water. I used to be on Prilosec for gastric reflux. After using my machine for a short time, I went off that medication cold turkey, hoping that I could get by without suppressing my stomach acid with that junk. I''m not sure alkaline water did the trick or not, but I''ve gotten along quite well without medication. I''m a happy camper!

I used to use spring water which meant every week i had to go to the store to pick up 7 gallons, drag them home, rotate my stock...what a pain. not to mention that I hated spending money for what was free from my faucet. But my tap water was sometimes yellowish, sometimes tasted of chlorine, and sometimes just tasted bad. I''ve been using the Dupont filter for several years and I am thrilled that I don''t have to haul gallon jugs home every week (although it was a good workout...). The Dupont filter gives me tap water that tastes at least as good as what I was getting from the jugs and I don''t have to worry about something leaching out of the plastic containers into my water.

I appreciate that this is a 4 stage filter instead of a 3 stage. Dupont makes filters for industry so they have a lot of experience removing contaminants (I''m a chemist) so they would use a 4 stage if it offered benefits.

I have noticed that there is some variability in the life of the filters. This is more noticeable with the 200 gallon cartridges than the 100 gallon filters. I use the meter as a guide, but when I notice that the flow is slowing I change the filter. I don''t think this is the fault of the filter. I think this is the result of water quality variation from my water source. If there are more contaminants going into the filter, the filter will get clogged sooner. So in some ways, I actually appreciate the filter more when it needs to be changed before 200 gallons because I just think of what I COULD have been drinking.

And yes, I would, and have recommended this product to my friends and family.

I''ve tried most of the other filters that you attach to your kitchen faucet and because we have really good water pressure they''ve all leaked at some point. The Dupont filter hasn''t and I''ve been using them for 2 years now. I bought the original filter system at Walmart, but as some other reviewers have noted, you can''t always find them locally. I purchased these on Amazon and buying 3 at one time was cheaper than buying just one.

As far as how effective this filtering system is, without it, there''s a slight after taste to the water here in St. Louis. I never noticed it until I moved away for 3 years and then returned. With the filter, I can''t taste it. It was worse when we lived in Avon Park, Florida where the water had a distinctive nasty taste to us. Again, this filtration system all but removed that strange after taste.

Pros: Easy to install, doesn''t leak even with higher water pressures, does a good job of eliminating after taste

Cons: Only lasts 100 or 200 gallons depending on the size you buy. Cartridges aren''t always available at local stores. Can get costly unless you buy cartridges in multiples.

I feel that this product is a necessary feature for the filter system so I can see the level of the water without having to pick up the top tank. However, the shaft that you have to install it with is barely long enough to come through to the inside of the tank in order to put the nut on. There is just enough space to do that. I gave this a 4 star rating for this reason, as well as the fact that I feel that this filter system should automatically include the glass spigot. Also, I had to use the washer (seal) that came with the original spigot for the glass spigot because the one that came with the glass spigot leaked.

Old Friend Men''s Romeo Slipper

I will be going on my 3 pair in 6 years. I buy a pair every other Christmas. I think I have got my money worth every time. The only reasons I have to buy new ones are the rubber sole breaks apart after almost 2 years. I still use my first pair as outside only for taking out trash and my current pair has gone everywhere, from grocery shopping to relaxing around house. I wear these everywhere. When I go camping I do not wear any other shoe. I would say if they could fix the issue with rubber sole not breaking apart by the stitches I would have not had to buy one every other year or maybe I would. But really how long should a shoe last, I believe I have got my money''s worth....

Just bought these slippers last week based on good reviews on Amazon. Got them right on time yesterday and right out of the box they are the most comfortable slippers I have ever worn. Soft on the inside and firm enough on the outside to just fit to your feet. The inside arch support forms to feet and gives surprisingly firm support. I have weak arches and these slippers really help. Good value that I would recommend to anyone.

It is such a shame that this really comfortable slipper that is hard to find in retail stores, has such a poor sales customer service department. This slipper comes in the hard to find HALF SIZES AND WIDE WIDTH. I ordered 10 1/2 E (wide) and received 10 Medium instead. It cost me $8.00 for shipping and handling and another $8.00 to return these slippers. I have been using these filters since 1987. I use them both in a slid in Bigfoot camper and 30'' 5th wheel. They work well and should be used with reliable sources. They are not intended to take pathogens out of the water. They are to take particulates and are a charcoal (for taste) type filter.

There are a few things to keep in mind. Make sure to look at the water source that you are hooking up to, if you are not familiar with that source. If it is really dirty, it can clog your filter don''t use it. If it looks clear you should be ok. Make sure you flush your filter out each time you use it before you hook it up to your camper, This is most critical with the first use. You will get a good amount of the charcoal dust, make sure it clears up then attach to your camper. Again remember that even clear looking water can have pathogens in it and this filter will not take them out. This filter is to remove particulates and improve the taste.

Replace this type of filter every 6 month with heavy use and at a minimum once a year. Do not let the filter freeze (with water or moisture in it), if it does replace it. If you do not you could end up with water that is not being filtered. Meaning that if you hare hooked up to a source with rust, you will be filling your tank and camper with rusty colored water... This seems to be the case when people have told me that the filters do not work. They will of you take care of them. If you do not change them out, let them get clogged, frozen or do not purge them out, you will have less than ideal results.

I can''t say enough good about these filters. They work and work well. I''m a fulltimer on less than stellar well water and I won''t use the water without it going through one of these filters. The taste difference alone would be enough to justify the expense but the filters also keep sand and rust out of the water system. Even if you think your water is great I''d suggest trying at least one as you might be surprised what you''ve gotten used to.

UPDATE: I have made a phone call to New Market Naturals and they told me the Sprite filters are exactly the same as their own.

I have very hard water which has taken quite a toll on my hair and skin. I ordered the "April Shower APHH Handheld Shower Head and Filter Includes Pulse Massage" in Feb. 2010, I have noticed a notable improvement in the my hair and slight improvement in my skin.

This is a very nice and affordable option to helping improve the water quality in a rental unit where water hardness/softness is not a tenant responsibility.

Since, at this time I noticed the New Naturals brand replacement filters cost less, I will order them vs the Sprite.

This filter seems to do a good job... at least it lowers the chlorine smell of my water. You can also reverse it after a few months to get more life out of it. I would say they seem to last about 6-8 months before they are "full" and need to be replaced because they are reducing water flow.
