Eureka DCF-21 Filter

Eureka DCF-21 Filter; Long-Life WASHABLE, REUSABLE and Allergen Filtration, Compare With Eureka DCF21 Part # 67821, 68931, 68931A, EF91, EF-91, EF-91B; Designed & Engineered By Crucial VacuumThis filter was a great replacement. It fit well and works great. Now I can thouroughly wash and dry the unit that came with the vacuum and switch them out. Price was right too.

I agree with William C. Spaulding, Oct 24, 2012 review. Filter does not lock into canister head/dust cup. However William was wrong when he said tabs are too short, it is the gasket on the end that is too thin. The gasket is half the thickness it should be, therefore, does not "push" tabs into the locking notch. The gasket acts like a "spring" locking filter into notches which also seals the filter to the head.

I do design for a living, but this is just such a blatant change that effects fit and function. This would have never happened at where I work and if it did, we would not ship out the part until it was corrected or returned to the vendor. Someone at the manufacturer was trying to save a penny (or less) a filter and turned it into a unusable piece of trash. They could apply a second gasket onto the first to build it up to the correct thickness.

I will not put tape on the tabs because the gasket seal is very important to the performance of the vacuum. Crucial Vacuum needs to stop selling these, refund or replace the "defective" filters with "good" filters free of charge. Then Crucial has to get the supplier to correct the defective gasket or return them to P.R.O.C. (People''s Republic Of China), YUP, made in China.

I felt good about buying from Crucial Vacuum because, in the past, I purchased allergen vacuum bags from Crucial. This has left a really bad taste in my mouth in trusting this brand again. When I put in a request to return the item, they expect me to pay the return shipping! I sent them a message requesting a prepaid return label or just refund purchase price. I will update this review, on how Crucial vacuum handles this whole mess.

Update 30 October. Crucial Vacuum is issuing a refund. But never mentioned if they were going to correct the filter thickness issue which can be remedied by attaching another gasket over the existing gasket to "build up" the gasket to the correct thickness. Raised stars to 2 because they issued a refund immediately.

I ordered this filter along with another one needed for my Eureka AS1000 vacuum.. I was a little worried that maybe they would be cheaply made because they are literally HALF the cost ''here'' VS the store prices ''BUT I am happy to say that they are not a cheap knockoff and they fit perfectly (actually a bit better)!! I will defiantly be ordering these filters anytime I need to replace them!! -I defiantly recommend!

This filter is an exact replacement for the one in my vacuum. Arrived on time and in perfect shape. I am going to get another one so I can wash one while using the other.

This filter works well and is easily washable. However, the 3 projections that are slid into slots to hold the filter in place are too small for the slots. Hence, the filter falls out while vacuuming, allowing the dust to go straight to the motor. I have improvised a solution by taping small pieces of duct tape over the projections to make a tighter fit, but it would be nice if the projections fit snugly in the slots, as the filter from the original manufacturer does. Otherwise, I would definitely give this filter a 5-star rating.

L.B. Evans Darren

L.B. Evans Darren Men''s SlippersI picked these out and just got them out of the box. The memory foam insoles are VERY comfortable. It feels strange at first walking on them, but after that initial step, my foot fell in love. These are pretty great. I can wear them inside or outside and still feel like I''m walking on a pillow. I also like that they don''t have a furry inside so I can wear them in any season.

My one complaint is that they don''t run in half sizes. I''m a 9 in normal shoes and these feel kind of loose, so i would have gotten a half size smaller, but an 8 is definitely too small. It''s ok though. This is designed as a slipper first and a shoe second, but I''m going to wear it as both anyway.

I would like to point out that I am a 26 year old male, I''m not in a nursing home, and I don''t mind wearing these in public. My fiancee even agrees that these are actually pretty stylish and comparable to some more popular name brand moccasins out there.

Slippers looked good and fit well. My only problem was a tag attacked to the inside of the slipper between the arch and the heel. The tag constantly rubbed the bottom of my foot making the slipper uncomfortable to wear. The tag was so securely attached that it was extremely difficult to remove. I did finally remove the tag which left a small tare in the liner.

These slippers were a gift for my boyfriend, who absolutely loves them. The hard sole allows him to wear them outside, and the memory foam makes them very comfortable.

Slippers seem nice and very well made.....they wear better and look better than my LL Bean slippers (I love LL Bean but their slippers never seem to last). I thought LB Evans was a take off on LL Bean but instead...seems like a high end brand (they are sold at Nordstroms). Highly recommend

My original post is above......but now its just a few months later and the inside is falling apart....now i''m sad (and need new slippers). ugh...

I bought these for my dad who is in a nursing home. Not only are they extremely comfortable (he has problems with his feet), but they are of excellent quality and the soles are great can be worn outside and are not slippery at all on all types of floors. He can easily slip them on and off of his feet. I''m buying another pair for my spouse.

Primo Water Corp 900114 "Pioneer" Ceramic Crock Water Dispenser

Primo Water Corp 900114 ''Pioneer'' Ceramic Crock Water DispenserI don''t like hot or cold water, I actually prefer room tempature. Besides, I have a fridge and an oven if I want to change that. This water dispenser (get the stand with it) is perfect. It sits next to my desk, looks great and holds a 5 gallon jug without me thinking it''s going to crumble. You could easily use this in a business, restaurant, home or just in a room saving you walking while you take care of whatever. It is a bit differnt to load this with a 5 gallon jug, but once you get a little system down, it''s perfect.

It was a great find for me, I had a filtration system for the top but needed a dispenser and preferably not one of the electric ones that provide hot and cold water (electricity eater) so this was perfect! Well made and very sturdy! I keep it in a cooler room, so I actually have cold water anyway without a electric dispenser. Feel free to buy this product with confidence!

This water dispenser works really well for Kumbucha. It is the perfect height for fitting under the cabinet. It comes with a ring for sitting over the muslin. I am very happy with this product.

This water dispenser works real well. It doesn''t get the water cold, which I actually like and I put a pitcher of water into the fridge for times I want cold water. But this dispenser makes the water come out pretty quickly, much easier to use than a pump which I tried before this. The wood legs are a little hard to make even as you have to put them together with some screws, and mine may be a tiny bit lop-sided but it can be even if you know what you''re doing. It''s very nice, just would have liked it better if it was a little bit lower priced, but it works well and I am glad I bought it.

BUNN BXB Velocity Brew 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer Save 26% Off

BUNN BXB Velocity Brew 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, BlackI will not bore you with all of the exact specifics of this coffee brewer. There are plenty of other reviews here on Amazon BUNN BX-B Classic 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, Black or check the Bunn website for additional info here: http://www.bunnomatic.com/retail/products/b.html

This Bunn BX-B 10-cup coffe brewer is a pricey but fantastic coffee maker for your home or small office. I bought one for my office, so that I can make myself a quick pot of coffee when I get to work or whenever someone stops by to visit my office during the day. This machine makes coffe FAST and the flavor of the coffee is always consistent. Although I have never found many of the Bunn coffee makers to be much of a fashion statement, this unit is fairly high-tech looking, with its black and stainless color combination. Since the water flows out of this unit so quickly, using a showerhead type spray pattern, I highly suggest that you always use genuine Bunn coffee filters as the store brand filters are usually not tall enough, causing the ground coffee to splash up and over the edge of the shorter filters.

One noteable difference between this and most previous pour-over Bunn models is that this unit does not require the use of a seperate water pitcher. You simply fill your coffee pot with water, lift the little door on the top/front of the unit and pour your water in. The most important step is to place the coffee pot on the warmer plate, being sure to center it properly, before lowering the door on the top of the coffee maker. As soon as you lower the door the water will start to flow quickly. If you lower the door before you place the pot underneath, you will likely end up with a bit of a mess. Also, I recommend that you insert your filter and pour in your measured amount of ground coffee before pouring water into the Bunn, because even with the door up I find that some water tends to drip from the output nozzle, causing water to drip down onto the warmer plate. I fill my pot with water, set it aside while installing my filter and ground coffee, then pour in my water, center the pot on the warmer plate and then lower the door. This has produced proper function every time, without any mess to clean up.

My likes and dislikes are as follows:

Pros:

*****

Makes a pot of coffee in only 3 minutes or less!

Consistent coffee flavor with every pot

No need to use a seperate water pitcher as with previous Bunn models

Simplistic operation that anyone can handle

Easy to clean and maintain

Pleasing black and stainless steel design

Build quality seems to be much higher than many other coffee makers

Cons:

*****

No automatic shutoff (could pose hazzard if warmer plate is left on over the weekend)

No timer feature for brewing coffee at a set time

No temperature control for the warmer plate (it gets VERY hot!)

If you don''t use it for several days some of the water evaporates from the hot water tank

Must use genuine Bunn coffee filters, which are not always easy to find

Pricey for a basic coffee maker

The cons are somewhat minor but the lack of an automatic shutoff really bothers me. I ended up purchasing a seperate digital appliance timer, which I plug the Bunn coffee maker into, so that I can set power on and off times. This way I don''t have to worry about leaving the warmer plate turned on over night or over the weekend. Overall I am extremely happy with my Bunn BX-B coffee brewer. It is easy to use and makes a great tasting pot of coffee in just under 3 minutes. It is also a great device for producing plain hot water. If you exclude the filter and coffee this unit produces a pot of very hot water in less time than it takes to make the normal pot of coffee. This is great for making instant coffee, hot chocolate, tea, instant oatmeal, etc. The BX-B carries a pretty hefty price tag (as all Bunn models do), but it is built well and makes excellent coffee in a flash. If you believe that time is money (as I do), then the Bunn BX-B is worth every penny for all of the time you''ll save. =o)

I bought this to replace an older Bunn which I loved, but was accidentally ruined by my wife. However, the new model does not heat the water hot enough. I performed several tests and the water conistently comes out at 180 degrees. This is below Bunn''s stated temperature of 190. Ten degrees may not sound like much, but it makes a big difference.

I usually put a pot of coffee in a thermos after it is brewed. Since the Bunn''s brewing temperature is so low, the coffee does not stay warm for very long. I believe that a good coffee maker should heat the water a little above 190 so that the coffee comes out hot.

I believe other reviewers have had the same complaint. I sure wish Bunn would go back to their old design. I think this is going to be the last Bunn I will purchase.

I have been looking for a new coffee maker and went to consumer reports, Amazon, Qvc, HSN, and read all the reviews.

So this is the one I picked, and I am so blessed that I picked this coffee maker, on a score from 1 to 10 I give it a big 10. Coffee is brewed hot; we grind our own coffee beans, as we do not buy coffee out in the coffee shops. What we do buy is the best coffee beans we like, Dunkin Donuts, Green Mountain Yankee Doodle, Coffee by Design here in Maine.

If you want a good cup of coffee buy this unit, and you will not be sorry. Remember that when you go out to the coffee shops and pay $2.08 for a large, that is $64.20 a month for just one cup of coffee a day, think of the nice coffee maker you could have, and the best beans ground at home. We also have the Bunn coffee grinder, that we have had for three years now.

God Bless,

Lenny Gauba Maine

This is not my first Bunn. The one I just replaced gave us many years of

faithful service. The reason I made this purchase is the age of the old one and an occasional strange noise. I did not want to get caught without a coffee pot. The new Bunn arrived very quickly and I am pleased

with the way it looks. However, the quality is not the same as the old

one. Also this pot sprung a leak after a few weeks of using it. I will probably have to replace this one much sooner than the last one. I will

see what else is on the market at that time.

Since I wrote this review we contacted Bunn about the leak problem. They

promptly replaced the pot with a new one. I would highly recommend dealing with the Bunn Company. We love our new pot.

I don''t normally review a item after owning it just over a week, but today I decided I should review the Bunn BX. Like I said, I have only owned it just over a week. No problems setting it up, just follow the instructions. It has made good coffee from day one. I love getting it ready to brew and then going out to get the paper. It''s ready before I can get out the door. With my old brewer, I still was waiting after I started reading the paper.

This morning put the icing on the cake for me. I had just put coffee in the basket when the electric went out. I thought No coffee. There was a cup left from yesterday, maybe I could heat it in the microwave, but could not even do that. Then it hit me, there was heated water in the tank. All I need to do was pour the cold water in to push that hot water out. So five minutes into a power outage, I was brewing a nice hot "5 star" cup of coffee. I would think one could brew coffee even a half hour into a power outage.

The only down side to the Bunn is that it is not a 12 cup. But I can put up with that after this morning.

Shop-vac 90304 Cartridge Filter Save 24% Off

Shop-vac 90304 Cartridge FilterI like the old separate foam wet filter and paper cylinder for dry pickup, simply because cleanup of the foam filter was so easy and you could get all the gunk out of it. I have used my shop-vac to empty a small manmade water feature with a pond in the backyard. The seaweed groaties washed out of the old foam wet pick up filter completely.

With the new materials being used for filters on various equipment, the new multitask (wet/dry) filter is alot more durable but still harder to clean than the simple foam filter.

There is also the extra expense. This type filter costs more initially.

Oh well, the cost of progress, I guess.

All in All, I still think Shop-Vac makes the best shop / wet-dry / worksite vacuum on the market.

John Row

Like most homeowners I do a variety of jobs around the house that require various tools. My wet/dry vac is one of the most important tools to me (or more importantly my wife) as it helps me clean up all the messes I make when doing these jobs. This filter does a great job when it is new as it keeps all the dirt/sawdust/leaves/etc I pick up with it in the container. However, after using it sporadically over a few months the filter gets clogged with all these various things, especially if there is any moisture. When I try and clean it out it works ok but not great as it just continues to get clogged. Overall it does what it is supposed to I just don''t like replacing the filter every few months....

We buy this filter for our aging 16-gallon shop vac, and I credit its long life with always having this filter in place when we dry vac. I remove it when we do any wet vacuuming.

It works as protection for the motor, keeping dirt and debris out. The bag catches most of the dirt, but the filter is extra insurance.

At $14.50, it''s cheap insurance against burning up the motor on our shop vac.

Water feels invigorating, too!

I have been using the Rainshow''r product for almost 10 years now, changing out the filter once a year--and I can tell when it is time to replace the cartridge, my curly hair starts to become more unruly! I even installed one at a boyfriend''s house because prolonged visits resulted in diminished manageability of my hair. Same for long vacations.

This really speaks to how damaging chlorine is to hair. It''s also nice to not be breathing in chlorine fumes during a shower!!

Highly recommend for people with chemical sensitives or naturally curly hair! You just won''t believe the difference--even my hairdresser could tell!!

Why did a buy this? First of all, just turn on the faucets in my home and your smell chlorine, the odor is extremely strong in our city water.

I have been looking for a filter for years for my shower, but honestly, I never knew what one to buy. This one was recommended by a Board-Certified Naturopath and Clinical Nutritionist. I read on their company website that Rainshow''r is one of the pioneers of shower filters, they have been making them for 20 years years... So I figured they must be pretty good. One thing you have to love about these filters is they are made in the United States, by Americans... Sadly, it is rare to see anything made in the USA today. It is nice to know by buying one of these your supporting American jobs and the national economy.

Here is my story:

I have been a swimmer for over 26 years. My skin has lived in chlorinated water for a very long time, it normally is always dry and my skin is often red. However, I really never realized how bad it was for a person to take a hot shower in a small room with the door closed, until taking a lot of science classes in school. Your standing in the hot shower and filling the room with hot poisonous gas, which in no way is good for humans. Then, while your taking a shower, your pores are open and exposed to all this nasty stuff, which is now getting into your skin. Of course, don''t forget either, your skin is your largest organ. The integumentary system (skin, hair, nails, sweat glands) is one of the first lines of defense and anything that is in the water is going to effect all of these areas.

Now, lets get this straight. Chlorine is used in water to kill all the nasty stuff in swimming pools and city water. This might be a good thing, but it is not something that should stay in the water. The reality is, chlorine makes your skin red, itchy, your hair dry and it is not good for adults or their kids... I have a regular water filter (if only it removed fluoride, but that is another subject[if you know of one, let me know]) but sometimes I forget that I needed to use a shower filter.

I purchased one of these first for my wife, just to see if she would like it. She noticed it made her skin much softer as well as her hair.

So for the past two weeks I have been taking a shower only at home. Later this week I decided to start using the gym shower instead of waiting to get home. I noticed as soon as I got out of the shower at the gym and looked into the mirror, my cheeks, would get really red and dry. While at home this stopped happening. I know now for a fact this is due to the shower removing the chlorine and have also noticed that the water seems much softer; like silk or something.

We now have 3 of these filters, one in each shower. I would strongly recommend this filter to anyone who is using city water and wants to improve their skin. Now, if your taking a bath, the company also makes a bathtub filter. I just don''t like the idea of having to wait 10-15 minutes with my hand in the water swirling a ball around to filter the water. Just turn on the shower and let the shower filter do its job and fill your tub that way.

I would recommend this to everyone. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made off Amazon. One thing to know, if you have children, this is a must have! Children have a weaker immune system than adults and it is important to be careful of the toxicities in water.

I spent a lot of time researching shower filters before deciding to try this one rather than one of the higher-priced ones, and I don''t regret it one bit! Although the Aquasana filters have recommendations all over Amazon-land, their main advantage over the Rainshow''r is the addition of a carbon filter. According to my research, carbon works fairly well for filtering drinking water, but doesn''t help at high temperatures or high volume applications like shower filters.

My wife and I really like this Rainshow''r. There is a very noticeable difference in how our skin and hair feel with this filter. Our skin is softer, not as itchy, and our hair feels more moisturized when using this filter.

For us, one filter lasted about 3 months. That''s with municipal water that has a rather (un)healthy dose of chlorine.

The only con I can think of is that there''s no indication of when it''s time to replace the filter. I think that''s how all shower filters are, though.

I''m here to order replacement filters, so it''s a keeper!

American Standard 1660.717.002 FloWise 3 Function Water-Saving Showerhead, Chrome
  • Utilizes exclusive turbine technology for invigorating shower while saving water
  • Three spray functions: turbine, full, or combination
  • Auto-return feature reverts back to 1.5-gpm flow
  • Up to 40 percent in water savings
  • Angle-adjustable showerhead

I first saw the flowise in a TV documentary about energy consumption and things alike. After trying a few of the lo-flow showerheads in my house (mostly because my wife likes the water really hot and she would run out of hot water before the end of her shower) we were making do with them (we have 3 full bathrooms) they weren''t bad, but they weren''t good either. FloWise is definitively a step up. Even in the "mix mode", it is still 2gpm, which is great. But the savings mode is good enough for a pleasure shower and we now have enough left over hot water so I can shower right after her, if I want to impossible to do before. I love the fact that once you turn the mix mode on (2gpm), it will automatically revert to 1.5gpm after you turn off the water which is great, because she showers on 1.5, I shower on 2.0 (I use half the hot water she uses) we would definitively forget to put it back, and she would probably end up with "warm water" at the end of her shower...

Buy American Standard 1660.717.002 FloWise 3 Function Water-Saving Showerhead Now

We got a polished brass and a satin version of this showerhead for our parents for Christmas. The showerhead seems huge to me my hands are not large, but this is twice the size of my fist. For that hugeness and the price, I was expecting that there would also be an analog adjustment of the water stream, but there is not. There are exactly three settings: one saver setting, and two full flow settings.

My brother installed the first one using a white plumber''s(?) tape to ensure a good seal on the pipe. The base setting is the water saver setting. I measured the water flow by seeing how long it took to fill up a large pot, and it was around 40 seconds. The other two settings took about 30 seconds each. This reflects the 1.5 vs. 2 gpm flow that others have quoted. At first it seemed odd that the shower wouldn''t retain an arbitrary setting, but it does make sense if one thinks about it from a water savings point of view. In other words, if you want a fuller water flow, you have to adjust for that on each shower. I''m not hugely picky in my shower flow preferences, and I thought all the flows were fine. I have been using the first two settings depending on my mood.

What I cannot fathom, though, is the customer support. Firstly, the box that the showerhead comes in contains (1) the showerhead (2) a small white plastic tepee like filter (ie. conical with a washer like portion at the larger end) (3) a single sheet of paper with a customer support number. There is no drawing, no instruction page or manual, and nothing extolling the virtues of the showerhead. In particular, there is nothing to say or indicate in which direction the filter should go. And it could fit into the showerhead in one of two ways. I''m not a plumbing kind of a guy. But to my mind, if I insert the filter with the pointy end going into the showerhead, it becomes quite difficult to remove, which would be a real problem if the filter needed cleaning. This is born out by the way the filters are in the faucets at home. Product management are you listening?

As mentioned, I''m not a plumbing kind of guy, so my logic might be completely wrong, but in any case I have to install the second showerhead now that bro is away. Fortunately, there is a toll free customer support number. I opted for technical support. Can you imagine, at technical support for American Standard, they had NO IDEA in which direction the filter should face. Ashley spoke with her supervisor. Jim had no idea either. They couldn''t find a schematic for it on the internet, they said. I double checked to make sure that this wasn''t a 3rd party contractor I was speaking with. No, no, it was definitely American Standard technical support. They didn''t have an answer for how it was that they didn''t know their own products. They said that they would have to research the matter. I got a call back in half an hour, and the first thing I heard was O-ring. I asked, "What O-ring?" After the rep again consulted with a supervisor, she came back with: insert the pointy end of the filter towards the showerhead. In other words, it will be a real bear to remove. However, there was such uncertainty in her voice that I asked to speak with a supervisor and have been dumped into his voicemail.

Update: I wound up talking to American Standard again (I think I eventually called back after no return call), and after complaining that I wasn''t getting an answer to a reasonable and straightforward question, I was transferred to Level 2 technical support (woah!) in New Jersey. I got the answer that the pointy end of the filter should be towards the showerhead, but after pointing out that this would result in difficulty with removing it, the tech allowed that I had a good point. This tech, though, was much more innovative (that''s level 2 for you) and said that the designers were just down the road, and that she would confer with them.

So the final answer that took me half a day to get to, and only three paragraphs of verbiage for you, is that the pointy end faces away from the showerhead! Thus, it is easier to remove for cleaning. To say it another way, the tepee points against the flow of water.

Conclusion: The water flow of the showerhead is good in my book. I took one star off for the large price vs. minimal settings, and one for the disconnect between customer service''s technical support and the product. In my opinion Product Management has created the problem by having not even an image of the filter + showerhead. But at least we finally know in which direction the filter points.

We live in a three story townhome. I never thought of our water pressure as being poor here, but I purchased this showerhead (due to stellar reviews on Consumer Reports) and discovered that our water pressure is totally inadequate for this product to function on the second and third settings. I thought the first we ordered was defective, only to recieve a second with the same issue. I called American Standard and discovered that indeed our water pressure was the issue. I went as far as increasing our water pressure at the mains in our utility closet, not terribly high, but probably a full 8 turns to the right on the restrictor screwthese work conversely to what you might thinkscrewing tighter clockwise provides more pressure. It was enough to make an immediate difference at the kitchen sink and other places. I tried this showerhead again and the settings would then hold but the central area still came out as a sputtering half-dribble. Do not waste your money. I am going with a Speakman product instead. Alsothis thing looks like a monster out of the boxI had a bad feeling right away, and regettably, this was a Valentine''s present to my husband who takes regular 15-20 min showers daily and it was a complete bust... I got this Flowise shower head about a week ago to replace a traditional one that wasted too much water. I was afraid that a low-flow head wouldn''t feel nearly as good as a traditional head due to reduced pressure. The Flowise head proved otherwise, at least in one of the modes:

The turbine mode is the one the shower head defaults to when you turn off the water. It saves the most water by mixing the water with air. This is supposed to feel like a traditional spray, but it really doesn''t. The mixing cools down the water significantly, so you have to increase the temperature of the water. Using more hot water just wastes energy. The turbine action chops up the water which makes it feel like you are being scratched. The water all turns to mist by the time it reaches the bottom of the tub and I can''t even feel it on my feet. I don''t use this mode.

The combination mode turn turns on both the turbine and the sprayer nozzles. When you do this there isn''t enough flow to keep up the pressure that I desire, but it delivers the most water. Some people may like this mode, but I don''t use it. Suggestion for improvement: only turn on one of the spray rings on this mode.

The last mode turns on just the sprayer nozzles and feels the best. It uses more water than the turbine, but still saves enough to be low-flow. The spray feels just like a traditional shower head, and is the mode I use every day.

Cats Rule Frog Watering Hole Water Fountain Save 4% Off

Cats Rule Frog Watering Hole Water Fountain, White and GreenGiven the price of this product, I figured it was a fairly low risk entry point in the world of cat fountains. Sadly, the price was reflective of the quality.

The product is just as pictured. It comes in 3 pieces the main plastic basin, a second plastic riser/basin, and a frog which sits upon the second piece. Water is sucked through a motor hidden below the riser and is pushed through a tube and out the frog''s mouth. The motor is adjustable, with 3 power settings and the package comes with two carbon filters.

It took some work out of the box to adjust the rubber tubing running through the frog to ensure that water was getting pushed through. Even with adjustment, quite a bit of water leaks into the small elevated basin below the frog. It is worth mentioning that the frog is made of hollow plastic and is thus prone to mildew.

The fountain dispenses into a small dish, it was not wide enough to allow our cat to drink from the bowl without being splashed by the stream. For this reason our cat would barely approach the fountain except to occasionally drink from the VERY shallow top reservoir.

The motor is noisy and can be heard humming over the sound of the splashing water, it began malfunctioning about 2 weeks after purchase. The fountain stopped spouting, no matter the setting, and was very loud even on low. After disassembling the motor and cleaning out the fountain, the noise was reduced, but waterflow could not be returned to normal. The best flow I could get was a stream into the top basin on the high setting and a dribble down the frog''s chin on both medium and low.

This fountain was a waste of time and money. Our cat wouldn''t go near it, it molded quickly, and then it broke. Save yourself and your pet the frustration skip this item.

We were given this as a gift by friends after their two cats refused to drink from it. They think the cats were scared by the noise.

Our cat loves noise climbing up in the window to see what is happening whenever the construction across the street gets noisy! Our cat is fine with drinking out of this fountain. Probably drinks a little more water than she would otherwise. (She still likes the toilet, as well, though!)

There isn''t that much noise a low hum which gets louder if the water gets too low.

Overall a fine product and it seems cheaper than comparable cat fountains. Just be warned that your cat may not go for it.

We put this item on our wedding registry just for fun and thankfully someone bought it for us, because our cat loves it. We''ve been using it for about 4 months and right now I''m searching to stock up on refill filters so that we can use it long-term. Our cat was a little hesitant about drinking out of it at first, but now she loves it and ignores her other water bowls. She drinks out of the stream coming out of the frogs mouth. Only problem is that if the stream out of the frog''s mouth stops, she gets quite upset. Usually fiddling with the frog or changing the water fixes the issue fairly easily. I was having some major problems with the water flow for a day or two, but changing the filter resolved the issue.

This is everything I had wanted it to be!

Pros: very easy to assemble, not too loud, very cute

Cons: the filters it came with seemed cheap and flimsy, but that''s easily fixed with buying some better ones [the ones it came with were free after all]

Overall this water dish is easy to use to put together and VERY cute.

It is everything I wanted.

I got this to try before buying a more expensive fountain. We have had this for 3 months with no problems. The motor only makes noise when the water level gets too low. You do have to fiddle with it at first to get the water to splash in the "pond" where you want it to without making too much noise, but it is not hard to do. It is fairly easy to clean and our cat loves it.

De''Longhi BAR32 Retro 15 BAR Pump Espresso and Cappuccino Maker Save 57% Off

De''Longhi BAR32 Retro 15 BAR Pump Espresso and Cappuccino MakerI wrote this review several years ago. The machine broke down after a year or so, and I put off replacing it. However, I''ve wanted to start making espresso again and so, remembering how much I liked this one, I picked up another one.

It''s pretty much just how I remember it, and the instructions I wrote below still work. There are a couple of things I''ve noticed, though. First, the maker no longer comes with sample E.S.E pods. That was disappointing. Also, the bottom of the filter handle (where the coffee comes out of) is plastic if you use a hand-held tamper, make sure you don''t press too hard and damage the pour spouts.

Also, I''ve moved from the Midwest to the East Coast, and it''s still nice to have good espresso and capuccino in your own house.

Otherwise, it''s still a sold four-star machine.

Original review:Despairing of ever finding decent espresso in the Midwest, I finally broke down and decided to get a home espresso machine. I had worked as a barrista, and had sipped espresso in Italy, so I had some idea of how it should taste.

Being relatively poor, I wanted a machine that would deliver a decent espresso, at a decent price. Though I was willing to consider a system with proprietary coffee pods (K-cups, Tassimo, etc), it would have to be cheap enough that I wouldn''t mind shelling out the extra bucks for the coffee itself. And I also wanted to make sure that it was pump-driven, not steam-driven.

After checking reviews and looking around, I finally settled on the DeLonghi BAR32. It''s a pump-driven maker, not steam driven, so it''s not scorching the grounds as it brews. And it comes with a single and a double espresso filter.

The DeLonghi uses either ground espresso, or E.S.E. espresso pods. The E.S.E. pods are not proprietary any company can make them. The DeLonghi comes with a package of 18 Illy pods (retail $12). The pods are convenient, but still expensive.

I''ve had the espresso maker for several days, and I''m happy with it so far. With the pods, it pulls a good single espresso with a satisfactory crema. Sugar floats on top of the crema for about 2-3 seconds, and it has a nice golden color. The espresso tastes very smooth.

Pulling a good single espresso, either with the pods or loose coffee, is pretty easy. Use the pods as a good judge of how tightly to pack the grounds in the filter. Use a level, loosely packed scoop of coffee for a single shot.

Pulling a good double, on the other hand, still eludes me. The best I''ve come up with is to use 2 scoops, 3/4 full and loosely packed, and pressed looser than for a single. Even then, it still dribbles out slowly, with a less-than-satisfactory (though present) crema.

The steam wand works very well. I''ve made several excellent cappuccinos and lattes with it. It''s a little cramped to use, so I pull mine to the edge of the counter so that I can get a good mug under it. I steam straight into the mug of milk, and then add the espresso. Make sure to blow some steam through it to clear out condensation before putting it in your milk. Start with the steam wand nearly submerged in the milk, and then slowly pull it out (lower the mug) until you hear a gentle "sipping" sound. That means that it''s frothing. If you see noticeable bubbles on top of the milk, that means you''ve pulled it out too far dip it back in slowly and you should be able to whip the bubbles into froth. Once the froth is just below the level you want it, submerge the wand back into the milk to finish heating it. Listen again once the milk starts to sound "hollow," it''s nearly hot enough. Let it go for a few more seconds, then shut off the steam, and remove the mug. The wand will drip a bit, so put it over the drip tray or an empty mug.

Making espresso is fairly easy. Turn the machine to "Heat" to start heating the water and priming the pump. Make sure the filter holder is screwed into the machine. Once the "Hot" light comes on, run an espresso cycle without coffee into the cup you''ll use pulling espresso into a cold cup will ruin the flavor. Fill the cup half-way with hot water, and turn the machine back to "Heat." Empty and quickly dry the espresso cup. Put the E.S.E. pod or ground espresso into the filter (tamp down the loose espresso) and twist it into the machine. Turn the machine on, and wait until you''ve got your cup of espresso. A single espresso should be 30-40ml, or 1-1.5oz. I used a measuring cup to see what that looked like in my demitasse cups.

Looking back over what I''ve written, I suppose I do make it look a little complicated. And it is a little bit more complicated that popping the K-cup into the machine, and hitting "Go." But it really is pretty easy, and less than 5 minutes pass between "You know, I could go for a cappuccino," and "Man, that''s a tasty cappuccino."

Pros:

Inexpensive

Good pressure

Easy to make a good single shot of espresso

Uses pods or loose grounds

2 dials + 0 buttons = easy to use

Outstanding steam wand

32oz water reservoir lets you make 3 or 4 cappuccinos, or 6 to 8 espressos, without refilling

Built-in tamper means one less part to lose

Pre-heat cycle helps make good espresso

Cons:

Hard to make a good double espresso (might just be me)

Steam wand leaks slightly (usually at the start of a brewing cycle I just keep mine over the drip tray)

In the end, the machine makes a good espresso, especially for the price, but remember that you''re not going to be running a coffee shop with it. I definitely recommend it for anybody who wants to make their own espresso, but wants to do it for under $200.

I have purchased this machine from Amazon on June 2006, that''s 16 months ago and I have been using this coffee maker every day, usually 2 to 3 times a day. A few words about me, I grew up in Italy, lived there for over 20 years and I still go visit my country for at least a month every year so I should know about coffee, right? DeLonghi is considered a good brand in Italy, I''m not sure about customer service in the U.S. since I never had to contact them; my aunt in Italy has an identical machine with no complaints. I''m not sure about the complaints I read here. Some people say it takes too long to heat up the water... I usually turn it on 15 minutes before making the espresso and the water gets really hot, if you think that''s too long then you''ve never used an espresso machine before, it''s very average as a matter of fact. Sorry, but that''s not the machine''s fault, it''s the way it is with all machines. Coffee shops machines need one hour sometimes longer to heat up. Others have complained about the steamer leaking a bit... NO KIDDING! It''s called vapor condensation, if you think that''s a machine issue I recommend going back to school and taking Physics 101. Not usually a big deal for me, just keep the steamer over the tray and the problem is solved... it''s only a drop or two anyway.

Some have written about the coffee not being very strong, true it could be stronger but if you make the right dose it''s ok. I get my coffee in Italy and, you want to trust me on this, if you''re not using good ground coffee to start with you''re not going to get a good espresso. Forget that Starbucks junk, this machine makes a much better espresso if you use it right with the right coffee.

I''m not saying it''s perfect, but for this price it gets really good, hard to find better. Forgive me for my somewhat sarcastic remarks, but I have the feeling that most of the people who complained about this machine have issues related to "Operator''s Error" and not the machine itself.

One note though about the frother (I''ve seen better construction), remove the plastic part and it works much better.

I used both Illy pods and ground coffee and I like both. Illy is considered a high quality coffee.

For the past 16 months it has worked great for me and I''m sure it will again tomorrow morning. Remember not to let the water reservoir go dry or you will burn the pump, again "Operator''s Error" not machine''s.

To the guy who grinds his own beans not espresso fine... Operator''s Error! Espresso machines need espresso ground coffee not larger grains. I still have to find a grinder in the US that can make fine espresso ground without costing an arm and a leg. One more thing: make sure you use bottled water (I use spring water) because tap water contains more limestone and can ruin the pump in the long run.

By the way, all the customers images are mine (as of today October 8th 2007), glad to see so many people enjoyed them.

Update: October 24th

Over 2 years, and still working great! :) I used it about twice a day.

I''ve been a coffee snob for several years have several brewing machines scattered throughout my kitchen. Since I got this machine xmas morning, all the others brewing systems have become obsolete.

It produces plenty of steam in a jiff, and the removable water tank is very handy (especially for use with my water filter). While I scoffed at the thought of using the ESE pre-packed espresso pods, it came with a tin of them, so I tried them out since all local coffee houses were closed (and I had no beans!). The ESEs make a pass-able cup of espresso--not the darkest roast, but the convenience of a pod is handy. I have some Major Dikason''s blend from Peets which I made regular espresso and Americanos out of. Delicious, thick, creamy.

This machine is a steal at this price. I''ve had to get the hang of packing my grounds in the handle, however. If I pack too tightly, the cream only comes out as a trickle. I suppose that''s the case with most home machines, however. Also, it has a built in tamper on the frame of the machine, and I consider that to be a bit of a mess and kind of sketchy. Go buy a tamper sperately.

This is a great little machine. For any price under $200 it''s a steal.

Primary Complaint Classification: Service Issues

Secondary Complaint Classification: Product Quality

Complaint:

Received as gift from Amazon.com, 12/25/04. After 5 weeks of occasional use, the rubber gasket which holds the screen snugly inside the filter head began to split. Within 2 weeks the entire gasket had broken completely apart and rendered this $100 machine unuseable for want of this cheap, tiny part.

I went to DeLonghi''s website to locate a replacement part, but the site has never been put fully online since it was first enabled in March of 2004, and the features I needed were unavailable.

I then called the phone number in the product documentation and received a DeLonghi automated menu. After I made my selection from the menu I was told "This number is no longer in service," and was disconnected. I tried every menu option and received the same message and disconnection every time.

Attempts to locate contact information for DeLonghi''s corporate headquarters (through investment websites)also failed.

Amazon.com indicated that they would not replace the product as it was beyond their 30-day returns window, and that I would have to take it up with DeLonghi directly. Obviously, I had already attempted this and it had proved impossible. After browsing Amazon.com reviews by buyers of other DeLonghi products, it appears I am not alone in my complaints of poor product quality and non-existent customer service from DeLonghi. Caveat emptor.

Now I have a $100, fancy Italian-designed paperweight taking up counter space and what I need is a cup of coffee. My hope is that you have some means of contacting DeLonghi and finding out why they refuse to stand behind their products. I understand that I may have to accept the $100 loss incurred by my purchase of their terrible product, but I think other consumers should be made aware of the risks they make in buying from DeLonghi America Inc. before they make the same expensive mistake I did.

Desired Settlement: Refund

Desired Settlement Explanation :

Although the part needed is small (and undoubtedly cheap), I''m reluctant to have any further dealings with DeLonghi America Inc. or their products. I would like a full refund so that I may purchase an espresso maker that works, from a company that will make good on the buyer-seller contract.

Like many of you, I pored over the Amazon customer reviews of many espresso makers before making my purchase. I was replacing a cheap Mr. Coffee device that was a lemon. I have been making espresso and cappuccino for many years using the department store-grade articles that come with a four (espresso)-cup carafe and controls consisting of an on-off switch and a steam valve and I was very satisfied with the flavor of the product. However, I was never able to reproduce the lovely crema of the espresso I enjoyed in Italy or of our better baristas in the U.S. but that was just an aesthetic compromise. Other customers'' comments encouraged me to consider a pump-driven espresso maker, so I took a chance with this one: it seemed to be in the middle of the price range and most customers were pleased with the results they got, although some unhappy folks obviously bought defective devices and were dissatisfied with DeLonghi''s customer service. For me, so far, so good and I am delighted with the results. Although making espresso with the DeLonghi requires a bit more attention than the less expensive basic models I''d grown used to, it is a minor compromise. This machine makes superb and beautiful espresso. Because the water is drawn from a 35-oz. reservoir, you cannot just wait until all the water you''ve poured into the machine runs through (like you can with the machines that hold only a cup of water in their reservoir) but you have to stand by to shut off the water flowing through the grounds when you''ve made enough. Therefore, you can make your espresso as strong or as weak (that defies logic!) as you prefer. Don''t worry; your "wait" will amount to less than a minute.

The controls are simple, yet efficient. The silver knob on the front has four positions, left to right: preheating water for steam off preheating water for coffee water flowing through the coffee. A red light indicates that the heating element is energized. A green light indicates that the water has reached its desired temperature for steaming or coffee, depending on the mode you''ve selected. The valve/knob on the top of the machine regulates the flow of steam through the nozzle to froth your milk.

The milk frothing nozzle is superior to any I have ever used. The frothing starts almost immediately and is a very efficient process. When the milk is frothed, click the control knob over two positions and you will probably find that the water temperature is ready to make coffee immediately. Less than a minute later, you''re done.

The DeLonghi does not come with a milk frothing pitcher. It does have an attached grounds-tamper which is a convenient perk. My only complaint is that when making espresso, a few drops of water tend to drip out of the milk frothing nozzle, as if there is minor leak-by the valve. Also, before frothing milk, I drain the steam line into a separate cup to purge a teaspoon to a tablespoon of water from the line before the steam is expressed.

I am delighted with this DeLonghi Espresso Maker and recommend it highly.

Addendum

I''ve had the DeLonghi BAR 32 for 14 months now. It gets used at least three times a day up to ten and I still love it! I have not any problems with it. I plan to buy more as gifts!

Black & Decker Water Coffee Filter

Black & Decker Water Coffee FilterI ordered this for my Hamilton Beach coffee pot. The filters for Hamilton beach are ridiculously expensive and I am not willing to pay $10 for one tiny filter.

I figured I''d give these a try even though they were not made for my coffee pot. They are a little bigger than my filters, but I was able to get them to fit with not much work.

These actually do make coffee taste better! A helpful tip is to run vinegar through your coffee pot every month or so, it will clean it out and make your coffee better.

I''m still on my first filter after a couple of months and the coffee still tastes just as good as the first day. I will definitely be getting more of these.

These are inexpensive filters for my Black & Decker coffee maker. I definitely can tell the difference in the purity of the water. I use normal sink water and the coffee tastes much smoother when using a filter. I usually replace them every 3-4months so a pack can last you a year.
