I have just purchased a Keurig Model B66 "Ultimate" and tried it out within the hour. My first opinions on this model are:

On a negative note... I found that the sound is noticeable when the unit is pumping the water into its heater. The individual K-Cup coffee containers while convenient, are costly per cup.

On the positive side... I drink black coffee and I feel that this unit does heat the water to a sufficient temperature and brews a drinkable cup of coffee very quickly. Another plus... Keurig also offers a solution for the "costly per cup servings" in that it sells a reusable coffee filter as an accessory. (This filter will permit you to use your own coffee which relates to a much lower cost per cup.)

My biggest regret about purchasing this particular model is that I didn''t notice that the largest cup this unit brews is only ten (well 9.25) ounces... and not the twelve ounce mug size that I consider to be "my" standard size cup. In all fairness I can''t find fault with Keurig for that because it clearly states the cup brewing size right on the back of the box.

I recently asked for a cup of joe at a friend''s house and they showed me their Keurig B60. They let me pick my own flavor and showed me how easy it was to make a cup of coffee with it. I was amazed at how fast this gourmet coffee was ready and how little there was to do for clean up. When I got home I researched it.

The only differences between the B60 and B66 is the color of the machine and quantity of sample K-Cups. The B60 is almost all black with a chrome handle while this B66 has a black body, silver top and chrome handle. The B60 gives you the standard 18 pack K-Cup sample, while the B66 gives you an additional 4 18-packs of samples AND a reusable "My K-Cup". The My K-Cup is a reusable filter you can put your own coffee in if you really want to (kind of defeats the purpose).

After using both the B60 and B66 I can tell you they both work EXACTLY the same. Any review you see for B60 has the same features, benefits, and shortfalls as the B66.

I''m the only coffee drinker in my house so it became a big pain to measure out beans, grind them, empty them from the grinder into the coffee maker, add the water, then wait for the coffee. Plus when you''re done you have to discard the used filter / grounds and any left over coffee and clean the carafe and maybe the drip mechanism as well.

THE KEURIG IS ALMOST 100% MAINTENANCE / CLEANING FREE. It has a 48 oz water reservoir so you don''t need to refill daily. The cleanup is just taking the used K-Cup and throwing it out. There''s no grinding of beans or cleaning necessary and I don''t have to spend 1/2 an hour to make 2 cups of coffee.

Some other nice benefits are that it also makes tea, hot cocoa and plain ole hot water (for Ramen or other uses). It also has a cool blue LED and blue lit water tank. The auto-on and off features help you save time and money. The 90 K-Cups the B66 gives you should last a long time and help you decide which blend of coffee(s) you prefer most. The water reservoir is also dishwasher safe.

The cons are few and far between. It is noisy when it starts and finishes making a cup of coffee. The water intake makes a loud vibrating noise when it pumps water in or out of the internal reservoir. This doesn''t bother me, my wife, or my infant son. The strength of the 9.25 oz versus the 5.25 ounce cup is diminished. It''s just the amount of water being used on the same amount of grounds. So if you want a regular 9.25 oz coffee you should probably use a strong K-Cup. Refill K-Cups are somewhat expensive, but it''s WAY less then a gourmet coffee shop. If you look around and use coupons it''s a great way to save.

I''ve had the coffee maker for 3 days now and I couldn''t be prouder of my purchase. I look forward to my daily coffee finally!

One last note, if you''re going through a carafe or more of coffee a day, you may want to think about whether or not it''s a cost savings or worth the time savings for you. But for me, this is the best product I''ve come across in a while.

I figured it was worth a try. As a bit of a coffee snob

(longtime "Peetnik" who finds Starbucks a little too weak)

I''d avoided systems like

Senseo because I figured that they wouldn''t brew

coffee as strong as I like it. And that WAS my experience

with the Keurig, too: The sample K-cups were okay,

but--unless brewed on the tiny 5.25 oz setting--

far too weak for my taste. Again, let me stress,

MY personal taste is for coffee stronger than probably

95% of Americans, so take that into account.

Cons: Even after trying the K-cups recommended by

others who say they prefer strong coffee

(Emeril''s "Big Easy Bold," Coffee People''s "Donut Shop Coffee,"

"Black Tiger" & "Wake Up", Timothy''s "Midnight Magic"

& "Rainforest Espresso," and so on, I''m still having

trouble finding a stiff cup of Joe brewed at 7.25 oz.

Also, they haven''t developed an environmentally friendly

K-cup yet. Damn! And it''s pricey, by home coffee maker standards.

Pros: Clean-up...there really is none! This format is the

fastest, easiest, most trouble-free way to get a quick cup

of decent coffee. I''m in Bachelor Heaven! I brew whenever

I feel like it--''cause it''s so easy--and never waste excess coffee.

I will never resort to instant, so this is a wonderful compromise:

It ain''t french press coffee, folks, but it''s pretty good and ridiculously easy.

Two or more folks can enjoy entirely different coffees at virtually

the same time.

Also, this package does include a device for using your own

coffee: after continuing to audition K-cups, I may eventually

resort to stuffing it with some quality Peet''s coffee, here and there.

Also, there''s a ton of different types of coffee, cocoa and tea for

this available at decent prices on Amazon

(some people consider ~44 cents a serving expensive, but I''m used to

paying for quality coffee--and not pushing for that many cups out of a pound

--so K-cups at ~$ for 48 cups (no tax or shipping) seems modest to ME.

From what I''m told, the B60 is the closest model for comparison...

both have 3 sizes (5.25 oz, 7.25 oz & 9.25 oz). I''ve heard another

Keurig model offers a 11.25 oz option, but given that I''m having

trouble finding something strong enough at 7.25, 11.25 seems laughable.

I''m using Brita water, for what it''s worth, and have only had the

machine for about a month, so I can''t yet speak to its durability.

It vibrates a bit and makes a little noise. Neither bothered me,

but I can see that if one person was up, making coffee, a light

sleeper in a nearby room might notice the sound.

Here''s a tip: A company called Kenoza

offers single cup purchases. I know the 90 cups that mine came with

sound like a lot, but I immediately realized I needed the strongest

options, so went to Kenoza and got 2 or 3 samples (at 46 cents each)

of many of the strongest ("Extra Bold" is the K-cup jargon)...coffees;

far better than blindly buying 48 cups of something you may hate!

So, in summary, at with 90 K-cups I think it''s a freakin''

bargain. Obviously, the more you have to pay, the less spectacular

the deal. Drinkable coffee--no one''s going to mistake it for Peet''s

in a french press--but it''s better than instant and some regular drip

coffee makers. If you like a variety of coffees, and don''t care if

it''s strong, run, don''t walk, to the Keurig...and the lack of clean-up

is AWESOME!

I purchased this Keurig B66 from Costco for $129.99 in December of 2009. It came with a case of free coffee and a reusable filter. A great deal at the time. After about 1 year of use I believe it is the greatest coffee machine ever. So far so good. And I mean really good (the coffee). I don''t bother using those K-cups, I buy whole bean coffee from Costco (Kirkland espresso brand roasted by Starbucks), I grind it myself as needed for a week, and I use the reusable My K-Cup filter. The My K-Cup filters can be purchased at Target for about $15. The ability to control the amount of coffee, water level, and temperature of the water to make one cup will give you the best home made cup of coffee you will ever have. I love the coffee I get at sit down restaurants, I don''t know why. I always felt that the high temperature of their coffee machines was the trick. The Keurig lets you set the temperature up to 192 degrees. And the flavor from that setting is great. Here''s how it works:

You fill the water tank, put your K-Cup in the holder, push down the handle, put a cup under the nozzle, select the size of cup you want, and press start. The machine will sound like it is grumbling, think of the sound that the stomach of a 500 pound man that is really hungry makes. This is the machine sucking in the water, then it heats it up and starts pouring water through your K-Cup and down into your coffee cup. The machine has 3 cup size selections. Small = 3/4 cup, medium = 1 cup, large = 1 1/4cup. So small = less water and stronger flavor, and large = more water and weaker flavor.

But wait the fun doesn''t stop there. You want just hot water? You can do that too. Now put that reusable filter in there empty (to keep hot water from splashing) and you can have a cup of hot water. Have you ever sipped hot water before? It''s great, it feels cleansing. Or put some tea bags in there if you want, weirdo. Hot water works for so many things. Instant hot cocoa, broth, cleaning countertops. Coffee is just one the the things this puppy is good for.

The Kicker:

You can tell all your friends about this great machine you have and the wonderful coffee it makes. When you go to their house and taste their lowly coffee you will miss your machine. You won''t want to be rude when they offer you coffee, but you will make excuses. You will feel like you don''t want to ruin your taste buds. It''s just like when you went from drinking tap water to bottled water. You just can''t go back can you? When you go to work, and you see that coffee machine there you wonder if you can get the other guys at work to all chip in and get a Keurig for the workplace. You will never want to taste vending machine coffee ever again.

I could go on. The price seems high, but the flavor is there to support it. I have had it for 14 months brewing about 5 cups of coffee every day. As long as it doesn''t break the quality of life increase will justify the price. Do yourself a favor and grind your own beans and use the My K-Cup reusable filter, the cost per cup goes to less than 10 cents per cup. The K-Cups you buy cost 35-65 cents per cup. I''m saving probably $50 per month grinding my own coffee and using the filter, which means my machine already paid for itself.

One more thing, at the high temperature setting this machine makes the Costco coffee I use taste just like the "Cafe Americano" from Starbucks.

I just purchased this unit for about 60 bucks to replace a white Kitchenaid unit that burned out.Since the white unit developed a lot of permanent stains I got a black one,problem solved. O.K. here is what is good about this coffeemaker.IT MAKES GREAT FULL BODIED COFFEE.Programing the features was easy for me, a guy that can''t navigate the menu of my phones.I like the fact that I can program my own shutoff duration.The coffee comes out very hot but not scalding. It also stays hot without tasting bitter.This is the first coffeemaker I have owned that the brew interupt feature works without dripping.This is due to a very strong spring on the basket but more on this later. It is also the first unit I have had that does not get coffee spooge all over the water spout and other parts.But in truth I rarely make more than 8 cups at a time. Lastly the carafe does not drip when you pour. Now for my complaints. Due to the afore mentioned spring you need two hands to remove and replace the carafe. Big deal. The reservoir is a little hard to fill due to a small opening.Also to get the last ounce of water out of the carafe you must turn it almost compleatly over.Dropping the basket in the unit is a little confusing the first few times. This unit is not for people with certain handicaps.Please keep in mind that this unit is only a week old as of this writing. However at this time I will say that this is the best coffeemaker I have ever owned.I expect that the brew interupt will fail eventualy,But I hardly ever use it so no prob.for me. The over all construction appears to be very solid so maybe this one will last more than the usual 2-1/2 years of it predecessors.

The Cuisinart DCC-1000 bears the brand name of Cuisinart which is supposed to instill confidence in the quality of the product. Unfortunately, this particular Cuisinart product is middle-of-the-road at best. Why? See the strengths and weaknesses below.

Strengths:

1) Auto shut-off Very convenient for those of us who can never bring themselves to shut the coffeemaker off. For the reviewer who had difficulty trying to enable the auto-off feature, set the dial to "Auto-Off" and then set the allotted time using the "hr" and "min" buttons.

2) Programmable Very handy for having fresh brewed coffee to greet you at work or home.

3) Taste The coffeemaker plus the charcoal filter produces a fine tasting cup of joe.

Weaknesses:

1) Filling the coffemaker THIS is a big deficiency. The mechanics for filling the coffeemaker using the carafe (as opposed to using a sink-based vegetable sprayer for example) are poor. The placement of the lid combined with the narrowness of the water resevoir makes for a difficult pour. Many times, I will end up with water either still in the carafe, in the cone or else, spilled on the floor.

2) The use of cone filters Generally, it''s personal preference whether one likes cone filters or basket filters for the automatic drip coffeemaker and my stated preference is for the basket filter. However, even with that bias revealed, the Cuisinart still presents difficulty. Sometimes, the cone filter will bend under the pressure of the sprayed water blocking filitration to the coffee grinds and what you will end up with is filtered water. This proves exceedingly annoying.

Make no mistakes, even with the cone filter, this product could have achieved a 5 star rating if it were not for the clumsy designs of the water resevoir and the difficulties in filling it. If you have a vegetable sprayer or are a proficient master at pouring from the resevoir, then I recommend buying this Cuisinart. If you are like me and either have this coffemaker at work or if you are at home with no vegetable sprayer and are not proficient in the carafe pour, then I would suggest another product.

I purchased this Cuisinart coffemaker in Oct. 2001 to replace a KitchenAid (which lasted just over a year before it died) and haven''t had the problems that some of the reviewers have noted such as difficulty pouring water in the tank, the pause feature dripping (which I seldom use, anyway because taking a cup out before the entire pot brews makes the remaining coffee more weak), or difficulty with removing & returning the carafe to the hot plate. Sounds like a totally different product! The coffee temperature is adequately hot and coffee is full-bodied (I like my coffee strong & robust, but not bitter). I got the black color which looks great and doesn''t show stains--I avoid white because I''ve had several brands which all yellowed and looked bad after several usings in that color. Overall, this has been a good coffeemaker for me!

I''ve had this coffee maker for about 9 months. It makes coffee just fine for the first several weeks. The problem is the water reservoir and the drip/filter/basket assembly are not separated. This is a problem with all the Cuisinart coffee makers sharing this basic design. I grind my own beans or use Starbucks pre-ground or similar fine-ground coffees. Coffee grounds and dust get into the water reservoir, and coffee scum builds up in the reservoir and all around the drip mechanism and area under the lift-up top. There are lots of small crevices and corners where the scum accumulates, and it is not possible to take the unit apart and clean thoroughly. Rag wiping just seems to push coffee grounds back into holes in the drip mechanism. Coffee maker cleaners like Dip-It can be used to clean the water path, but the machine is still visibly dirty inside...really dirty. I''ve had Braun, Krupps and Starbucks Barista Aroma Grande machines. Never see one with this much of a coffee dirt problem. I think eventually coffee residue of any kind in the reservoir builds up on the heating element, taints the flavor of coffee, slows the brew process and eventually gums up and ruins the heating element. Don''t buy this coffee maker.

Hoover SteamVac Pet Complete Carpet Cleaner

So I discovered that this is pretty much the exact same model as the more famous Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac with Clean Surge

It has the clean surge as well, which does great with pet urine.

I think the only difference is that it''s packaged with a small bottle of the cleaner for Pets and some wipes. As far as I can tell.

I''ve been using it almost every weekend. I get down and smell the spots afterwards and only a few times did I still smell it. I used the clean surge and it did the trick.

We also live where there''s new home construction and I suspect we have a lot of ''construction dust'' in our house. Apparently we do and for new carpet it''s amazing how brown the water is! It picks up sand that I didn''t know was there.

Still fairly new so we''ll see how it ages, but so far so good. I bought a few extra gadgets for it online at and they came fast. Even though I vacuum first, I still get dog hair caught up in the intake bit and the little removal tool only gets so much. I hope that I can keep it hair-free enough to make sure it doesn''t become a problem. The fact that you can remove the brushes is great though, so you can wash them well.

How do I love my Hoover SteamVac? Let me count the ways... This carpet cleaning machine is FANTASTIC. As soon as I got the SteamVac, I cleaned some incredibly filthy areas on beige carpet. One was a major stain in a high traffic area that someone trampled into the carpet, while bringing groceries in with wet and dirty shoes. The other was an old stain my daughter made from a spilled chocolate-soymilk smoothie that she didn''t clean up properly because she was in a rush to go somewhere. The SteamVac cleaned both of these problem spots to such a respectable level that I won''t be embarrased in front of company anymore. This is an older carpet, so it doesn''t look brand new. But, that doesn''t stop me from jumping for joy.

Incidentally, I don''t use the expensive, petroleum-chemical-based carpet cleaning solutions. Instead, I use water and a little bit of the nontoxic ''Lemon'' SimpleGreen in the solution tank. I also worked on problem spots with a toothbrush and a squirt bottle with a VERY diluted solution of dishsoap and water. Then, to eliminate soap residue, a final rinse over the whole shebang with a solution of plain vinegar and water. TIP: If you want to experiment with carpet-cleaning solutions yourself, just be sure you pick LOW-SUDSING products.

And, nobody beats AMAZON on price. Can I just say FREE SHIPPING? Incredible!

I was very excited at the prospect of having a carpet cleaner that would steam clean and at least use hot water to clean the tough spots on my carpet. Unfortunately, the "SteamVac" doesn''t do that. It doesn''t heat the water that is being used on the carpet, nor does it produce any steam. It does blow hot air onto the carpet, though I''m not sure how that assists in cleaning the carpet.

I have a small front room, empty of furniture for the moment, but with several stains and high traffic dirt in the main walkway. I used this room as my test area to see how well this carpet cleaner worked. Below are my findings:

Pros:

* It is easy to use and set up based on the enclosed instructions.

* The machine is very sturdy and will withstand the test of time.

* The spin brushes seem to loosen the dirt and the suction does a good job extracting the water from the carpet. I could see a lot of dirt coming through the machine with each suction and when I dumped the used water it was filled with gunk.

Cons:

* The machine leaks water when it sits for a bit. I had been cleaning my carpet and stopped to answer the phone. When I returned from my phone call the machine was sitting in a puddle. What a mess!

* It isn''t heated cleaning! When I returned from the phone call and started cleaning again I realized that it was just cold water going through the unit. It didn''t heat or steam the water at all! If you want hot water with your cleaning, you have to put hot water in the unit initially and clean before the water cools down. This is tough because it takes a while to use.

* My spots remained on the carpet. If this would have been a true hot water/steam cleaner I think those tough spots would have been removed. Others have posted that they have gotten spots out of their carpets with this machine, but they are also doing some intensive spot treatments.

* The attachment is difficult to use on the stairs. This was a real struggle and didn''t seem worth the effort.

All in all I was a bit disappointed in this machine. I was hoping it would have performed better on some of those trouble areas.

This is a great carpet cleaner. The scrubbing brushes is what sets it apart

and above all the other types. Easy to use. A bit heavy to push back and

forth but well worth the effort. This machine worked on spots that a

professional carpet cleaner couldn''t budge. Fantastic for all stains and

great for those pets stains that happen when you least expect it. I use my

small SpotBot Pet for those little stains but this is the machine to use for

bigger stains and just to freshen and brighten up the carpet. Apparently

there is also an attachment that you can buy that will enable the machine

to clean floors too. I intend to get that but for now, it is well worth the

cost and effort.

First off this is exactly the same unit as the Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Clean Surge except for some minor color changes in the plastic pieces and the inclusion of a package of pet wipes and a 16-oz bottle of Hoover Premium Pet Formula Detergent. That might help you choose between the two options, based on current prices. Personally, I like the cosmetic changes (but my SteamVac is six years old, so Hoover might have changed the look of that one, too but the picture of it on Amazon still looks like mine). Also, the hand tool hose that came with this unit is black instead of the light gray shown in the Amazon photo, and I think the black looks better.

I''ve owned and used a Hoover SteamVac for six years and have been happy with it, so I was happy to have a chance to review this product (please note that my original SteamVac still works great after six years). Prior to that, I used a Bissell for about five years. They both have their pros and cons, but I like the Hoover best overall. The Hoover seems like a sturdier unit to me (I replaced the Bissell after it stopped pumping liquid, and the plastic seemed lighter and less sturdy on it). The Bissell was sleeker looking, as this Hoover is kind of commercial looking.

I have stain resistant carpets, so my experience could be different from others. I have cleaned up stains just with a cloth before, using Hoover cleaning solution and water. That said, this cleaner has worked excellently on pet stains that occur from time to time. Perhaps I benefit most from the ease of use. It''s fairly lightweight, easy to fill with water, and easy to operate.

I''ve tried the included SpinScrub hand tool, and I didn''t think that it worked any better than the regular hand tool. They both work fine, but I thought the spinning brushes might clean a bit better or faster. The hand tools work great for furniture, and the hose is plenty long for easy reach.

Things that I like:

Separate tanks for the clean and dirty water. Also, no internal water bladder like on my older Bissell. The tanks are all hard plastic and easy to fill/empty.

Very easy to use. Lightweight and easy to push around.

Fairly quiet. My dog Niki really dislikes my vacuum cleaner, but she doesn''t mind this machine too much.

Dries the carpet pretty well when you go over the carpet without dispensing liquid.

Because the hand tool isn''t typically connected to the water line, you can remove the hose if you find it easier to use/store that way.

The hose for the hand tool is plenty long and makes cleaning furniture easy.

Things that I''d change (and why I "like" it instead of "love" it):

Switching to/from the hand tool. I''d like to have the hand tool be available by toggling a selector switch, like on a Bissell that I owned previously. Having to partially disassemble the unit (including removing the upper water tank) to switch between floor and hand tools is an inconvenience. While I like that I can take off the hose, I''d prefer to have to leave it on if it meant that I could quickly switch over to the hand tool.

Being able to remove the dirty water tank without lowering the handle all the way to the floor. The clean water tank pops right out of the handle, and I wish that the dirty water tank was similarly easy to remove.

I wish that it heated the water. Perhaps it doesn''t make a huge difference, but it''s something that I''d like to have.

Overall, I''m happy with both designs and recommend this unit and the original SteamVac. Probably 4.5 stars for me, but I couldn''t quite give it five. Paying extra for the pet formula isn''t worth it to me, but I do like the slightly different cosmetics of this unit. They are good carpet cleaners, which I think is evidenced by the large number of positive reviews for both products.

Melitta MES2R One:One Single Serve Coffee Maker

I bought the Melitta for it''s ease of use and good looks. The first time I used it, the regular coffee was fair and the decaf was bitter. Disappointed, we also bought pods from other coffee makers and stuffed them in the holder. Despite the inelegant process, they didn''t leak and the coffee was a little better. I agree with other reviewers that the the water reservoir is too small and it''s difficut to fill. I spill a bit every time I refill, but that''s me. The unit takes several minutes to heat up to operating temperature for cup number one and the second cup takes almost as long go figure? Also, the coffee doesn''t come out as hot as I like, but pre-warming the cup with hot tap water helps a bit. The tea pods are a waste of time. Basically, the tea''s not very good so if that''s the reason you are buying this unit, may I suggest you look elsewhere or buy decent loose tea and brew it in a pot like the Brits? The best thing we found you could make with unit is a half-way decent cafe mocca. Try this: Get a big mug. Fill with the contents of a hot cocoa pack. Install your favorite coffee pod. Press the regular mug button. When it finishes, press the smaller mug button (that''s right, run water through 1 pod twice). The result is an acceptable cafe mocca definitely not Starbucks but not $11.00 either. As for that elusive perfect "cuppa" this isn''t going to give it to you. Convenient, good looking, but only a fair cup-a-Joe.

Quick Update: I tried Maxwell House pods over the weekend. Stuffed them in the holder and the result, a very nice cup of coffee. Again, pre-heating the mug with tap water really helped. These pods are made from 100% Arabica beans great smell and no bitterness. I like a smooth cup and so far, this is it (I had 2 with Sunday breakfast and my NY Times Crossword puzzle.)

I got a really good deal on the MES2R, buy a box of 144 pods for $40 bucks and get the machine for free. So I figured it was worth a shot regardless of all the mixed reviews.

I like, and almost love it! Its not love because my favorite brand (Community Coffee New Orleans Blend) doesn''t come in pods. However I have adapted quite well to the Melitta flavors.

This is NOT a machine for coffee addicts or snobs. If you know what crema is and care as to whether or not you get it, then don''t buy this machine.

However, if you just need a decent cup of joe to get you going and out the door in the morning, then look for a good deal and give it a try.

If you read the reviews you will find some good tips that I have found to be true. Below is a recap, plus some things I have learned in getting to know my Melitta:

1) Read the instruction book, all that stuff about priming the pump is true and required. In fact, I primed mine several times before using it.

2) If you''re not that interested in the tea, use one of the pods and run about 6 10 brew cycles through that one pod. (Just keep refilling the water tank about 3 times) to get rid of the plastic / greasy taste before you brew your coffee. You will only need to do this once, to break it in. Also wash the nozzle, mesh filter and pod holder really well.

3) If you like a large cup, but don''t like strong coffee, then you are in luck, hit the big mug picture and when it finishes hit the little cup picture and you will have the perfect cup.

4) Yes you can use millstone and folger pods; however you must stuff them in, and be warned you may not get a good seal. If that happens you will have some leakage, nothing like what I have read in the reviews, but some streaming down the front.

Also note, when you using these other pods you will get A) more coffee when you push the big mug picture so you don''t have to do it twice and B) and very STRONG cup of coffee

5) When using the Melitta pods, be sure to put the puffier side down first and the flat side up top. Make sure it fits snug, and you should be okay.

6) If you don''t like Melitta try podhead.com, also they sell adapters so you can use larger pods with less manipulation, but I haven''t tried it.

7) While you are waiting for the ready light to come on, allow hot water to run in you mug from the tap to preheat your cup, or stick it in the microwave for a second if you are a milk user.

8) JC Penney''s sells Melitta pods

9) Don''t expect Starbucks, just expect better than Mr. Coffee... actually much better because it always taste fresh brewed, like you just opened the can or package today.

10) If you give this as a Christmas present to someone, be nice enough to print this review and stick it in the box so they will have a pleasant end result.

Personally I like this appliance and can''t wait until the third generation comes out, which I expect will be soon since they are giving them away now. My only fear is they will be run out of business by Phillips. I noticed SAMS CLUB is carrying senseo pods in bulk, but not Melitta, and we all know what SAMS/Wal-Mart want they get.

This machine has me drinking two to three cups a day whereas I used to only drink one (I now drink decaf for the additional cups) so there must be something to it. Also the ability to have variety is great, I could never do this with my other machine since I was only drinking one cup a day, I was afraid if I brought a variety of flavors they would go stale after I opened them. So I was stuck finishing one bag before I could go to something else.

If you get it, enjoy! If you are very picky about coffee (the way I am about crème brulee) then look elsewhere.

Don''t believe everything you read about these machines. They do make good coffee (if you use the right blend) and are reasonably well built. But, the coffee is not coffee house quality. It really is a matter of expectations. I believe the Melitta MES2 is the better choice of the many available in a comparative price range. All one shot coffee makers can leak, some are down right cheaply built and some are over priced, but this is a growing segment of the coffee market and can only improve. I was also amazed at the different filter styles which forces you to use only the maker''s particular filter brand. However, you can get away with stuffing a pod from another brand into your MES2 and it will work. I strongly suggest that you visit www.podhead.com for an excellent, although more expensive, alternative to one:one brands of coffee. And, these great coffee blends are available in filters that fit the MES2. Over all, I am pleased with the performance of this machine and the price (with rebate) is very competitive. Just remember the basics, filtered cold water, a good coffee pod and a clean machine = an excellent cup of coffee.

It''s a real treat to have an easily home-brewed flavorful latte. Although this will never replace one created with the use of an espresso machine, either from a personal unit or from your favorite coffee emporium, it''s a tasty and reasonably-priced alternative. I''ve had a delicious latte made using a home espresso unit, but those units are expensive and require more handling than this one-cup maker did. OK, so you can''t heat the milk in this machine, but using regular milk was fine because the coffee was very hot to start. The advent of the one cup brewing system has made me a coffee drinker again!

I live alone and retired a year ago, and was used to having my two cups of coffee each day while at work, but since retiring, making even a small pot of coffee was not something that I wanted to do, because of the mess and bother and waste! Of course, having a pot of coffee sitting around until it gets used, always results in it ending up becoming too strong to drink, and sometimes boiling down to a black sludge when you forget to turn off the machine. NO MORE!

Recently, I saw a Melitta One:One brewing system on sale at Wal Mart and decided to buy it. I think it was a good decision!

I knew that the cost would be more per cup, due to my not being able to purchase in bulk, but there is NO waste, the coffee is always the same in quality and taste, and clean up is almost completely eliminated.

Melitta makes six different grinds, all prepackaged and individually sealed for freshness. Other coffee makers put 18 pods in a bag and forget about freshness after you''ve opened the bag for the first cup. As with all other coffees, you must seek a flavor that pleases you, but that shouldn''t be too hard. They also make several teas, but because of the high product cost, I suggest that you use the unit to heat the water and then use a conventional tea bag.

If there is a negative to this system, it is that the product line is costly, at least in my point of view. I would like to be able to buy in bulk, and have a larger selection of product coffee brands to purchase. As for now, we Melitta people are basically forced to buy only the Melitta brand products in 18 pod boxes. Some competition would bring the prices down. Amazon.com has the best prices, and if you buy enough product, can get free shipping.

When I first got the Melitta system, I, as with others here reviewing, had a problem with machine leakage. When the machine leaked, the coffee was stronger because the leakage water didn''t make it to the cup. I experimented and determined that by pushing the pod down in the pod holder, so that the edge of the pod didn''t inpede contact of the machine lid to the pod holder, the leakage no longer occurred. A tighter seal was obtained. The coffee flavor was uniform and the leakage mess was no more.

Also, a tip for users: I don''t like either too strong or too weak a brew. I also want a full cup of coffee, and neither 5 or 8 ounces is enough. Instead of choosing either a 5 oz. or 8 oz. brew, I do both! First I do the 5 oz. and before removing the cup, allow the water to reheat and then push the 8 oz. button, thus giving me a 13 oz. cup of coffee, from the same pod! That suits my taste and gives me the quantity that I want!

Would I buy the Melitta system again? Probably not, but only because of the monopoly regarding the product line, not for any shortcoming of the system itself! I might try one of the other machines put out by other makers, but would definitely know more about which coffees were available and how much selection and cost of product would be. Single service coffee makers are definitely made for me!

Additional comments:

After making the above review, I found that you can use ANY of the store brand coffee pods (Senseo, Home Cafe, etc.), even though they are of a larger diameter and do not fit the Melitta machine pod holder as designed. You have to crimp the off brand pod, using your fingers, and jam it into the Melitta pod holder, but it will fit, and a good cup of coffee can be enjoyed. The secret is to make sure the Melitta lid makes contact with the Melitta pod holder, so that a good tight seal is assured. I know this works, because I bought a bag of Folger''s pods, and they didn''t fit the Melitta machine. Since the bag was open, I couldn''t return it, so I decided to try to make a pod fit, and it did! Thirteen cups of Folger''s later, and I haven''t had any problems making this accomodation!

If you don''t like the Melitta brand coffees, and it seems, from some of the reviews, that there are many folks who don''t, try other brands using my crude product adaption method, and you should be able to make any other coffee pod product on the market fit your machine. If you then still don''t like the taste, there is nothing more to try. Single service coffee machines might not be for you.

It''s shorter than the Kenmore Brand I should be using, but it works well in our humidifyer. It has a wire-type exterior ''frame'' for better reinforcement, and it costs much less than the Kenmore Brand. This, combined with the humidifyer treatment I found for $2 a bottle at Walmart makes a much less expensive way to keep our home humidity up. Keep in mind that you must use humidifyer treatment if your filter gums up or becomes yellow and hardens...that means you have hard water and the water cannot wick up the filster. The life of your filter will be dramatically less if you don''t use a treatment.

I ordered a MAF-1 Emerson MoistAir humidifier filter and received a sub called BestAir Humidwick. When I said would return them , they said these should be as good as the originals. I have no way of knowing until I use them! THAT MEANS i WON''T know until about two months down the road.

Although the item description plainly states "Emerson MoistAIR Humidifier Replacement filter", what I actually received was an "RPS Products BestAir Humidi-Wick" aftermarket replacement. I feel this is misleading and fraudulent the description should include wording that "this is not a genuine Emerson product" or something to that effect.

Since it looks to be equal in quality to the orignal, I wouldn''t have minded too much if it actually fit correctly! Unfortunately, it''s nearly two inches too short in length, so the ends won''t butt up against one another as delivered. In order for it to work properly, I had to grab both ends and stretch it out to the correct length before installation. That should not be necessary and isn''t with genuine Emerson filters. I definitely will not be buying these on Amazon ever again...

I removed the old filter and it was soaked with water and weighed about 2 pounds with a green top.

I have owned this for over a year. Yes it does require some strength to use and the cloth head does get wet (it''s steam right) but I prefer it over a wring mop or sponge mop. I am impressed with how dirty the cloth head is after it is used and I like the idea of cleaning without chemicals. My sister has a similar steam mop but with a rectangular head instead of the triangular head which she says makes it harder to get in between some things.

Once I start it up, I let the rubber band keep the handle depressed and when I need to take a break, I slide it away. I usually go through two pads, the first one can get dirty. my boss bought this for our office for all the best reasons. While it is better for the earth then using the paper filters, it doesn''t filter as well. 1/4 of the pot is undrinkable because of all the thick-ish coffee slush that this filter lets in. Once you have this system in your RV you can''t imagine ever traveling without it! I installed it in a newer travel trailer which has always had objectionable plastic or other tastes present in the water. These tastes were caused by 3 things:

1. The fresh water tank and 98% of the plumbing system are plastic.

2. I sanitize the water system annually using diluted beach or other chemicals.

I''ve read reviews elsewhere which complain about low water flow from this particular filter system. We have a similar water filter system made by GE in our home and it''s no different. These systems are not designed for high flow. Pretty good, not great.

Pros: Good quality. Light. Easy to carry around the house. comes with heavy duty scrub brushes, shampoo brushes, and a couple buff pads. Two speeds, easy to assemble, does a good job with light workload. It''s a bit too light to really dig deep, but it did do a great job on my tile floors.

Cons: No convenient way to stand it up with the brushes attached. You have to kind of lean it on something, which is a bit of a pain if you want alternate between scrubbing and mopping. Also, the handle to release water from the tank is on the front of the machine, so you have to take one of your hands off the handle and reach for it. This is difficult because you really need two hands on the handle while it''s scrubbing. If you only hold on with one hand, the thing starts going crazy and can get out of control, so dispensing liquid becomes a bit of a juggling act. Quite honestly, it''s much easier not to use the tank at all. Just dump a bunch of cleaner on the floor and go to town. All in all a good buy. Good for household cleaning. Not something you should expect to use for a business.

This machine delivers good scrubbing and buffing action, but I realized I couldn''t use it around my house, as I''d intended. This is more my fault than the machines''s. I hadn''t thought ahead when buying this product.

It doesn''t pick up the considerable amount of water it dispenses. So it releases quite a quantity of water and soap onto the floor, scrubs vigorously, then leaves you with a pool of dirty water to slosh through. You have to periodically stop the machine to mop up the dirty water, or else have a second person following in the wake of the machine to mop up the water. If you''re doing the job alone, this will probably present an extra problem because, if all machines are like the one I got, the handle of the machine won''t stand upright on its own. You''ll have to move the machine over to a wall or some other support every time you stop to mop up.

This all can end up being time consuming and messy. The scrubber clearly wasn''t going to be useful in my house, crowded as it is with furniture that would get splashed if it wasn''t moved well out of the area of operation. I ended up handing the Koblenz P-2500 over to a cleaning crew that does a lot of work in commercial properties that have clear expanses of floors.

In general, this machine would seem to be most useful in places such as show rooms, hospitals, and gyms.

Used to have an old time hoover floor polisher and was sceptical about ordering any other but they discontinued the hoover. Just bought this scrubber and it is fantastic having white porcelain floors and three large dogs I needed something that would get the job done and this surely does. I did a lot of research before purchasing this machine. I chose this model because the tank was larger for the solution and the cord was longer. 90% of the floors in our home are tile. We chose textured surface tile for safety and beauty.Until I bought this machine I would literally have to get down on the floor with a brush to get all the nooks and crannies clean. I agree with some reviewers that refilling the cartridge take a little extra hand-eye coordination, and is a bit time-consuming and definitely more of an annoyance than you want to deal with re: a humidifier.. I found that just snipping off a corner of the bag allows a little more control in pouring the granules. I also plug up the center cavity with a wad of wet paper towel. Wet towels are better than dry because the grains will stick to the wet paper more readily when you pull it out.

All this being said, I''m writing this review to underscore an option that the instruction manual mentioned, and which I''ve learned to swear by. USE DISTILLED WATER in the reservoir. It''s 59 cents a gallon or cheaper at your local giant-grocer. No white powder whatsoever, and you never have to clean the tank with Air-O-Swiss''s gimmicky powder cleaners. Using distilled water, you can just unscrew the water-purifying cylinder from the reservoir cap and throw it in the garbage (or, if you''re hate throwing anything out, just put back in the box which you most likely saved and are keeping in the basement). I''m a lawyer and a skeptic by nature, and I don''t think that the "purifying beads" do anything substantive. Even a fresh filter leaves that white powder. Frankly, I think that the money saved in not buying the company''s custom-designed external expenses is far outweighed by the money spent on "fancy" distilled water. I can''t help but think of the cost of printer ink when I think of these water filters; you buy the base unit (printer/humidifier) for a good deal, not realizing how much more money you will be forking over in the maintenance of the darn thing.

This is a humidifier, after all, not a life-support machine. There are two options; dealing with the vaguely annoying white powder, or spending a little extra money on something that will avoid the nuisance of cleaning up the white powder. Personally, I prefer spending my money on store-bought distilled water than some chemically questionable "white beads" (what are they made out of, anyway?? Are they recyclable? Is there any data on how much these bead actually "purify" the water? And does the production of these beads use non-renewable resources? Don''t ask Air-O-Swiss...they won''t tell you). On the other hand, I know how distilled water is made. And I can tell you from personal experience that using distilled water keeps the humidifier in tip-top, brand-new-looking shape. When the "clean" light on my unit comes on, I just reset without thinking. There''s nothing to clean. You could use distilled water for years and still have less buildup than one or two uses of regular tap water (filtered or otherwise, I would argue).

Well, enough of my ranting and raving in favor of distilled water. I think I''ve made my feelings clear. In response to the reviews from members who complained about the high cost of filter replacement in their hard-water environments, this is my "perfect" solution to you. Take it for what it''s worth.

My air-o-swiss is sucking up atleast 1 filter every month. Recently, I bought the refill packs. Having used them 3 times, I feel that it was a wise decision. I get the same performance from the filter, for 1/4th the price.

As of he refilling part, I found it quiet easy. While emptying the filter, shake the filter in the trash can. Most of the "stuff" will fall off easily. You can wash off any that clings to the filter. Shouldn''t take u more than 30 seconds to do this. When it comes to filling up the filter, I make a very small cut in the plastic bag with a scissor. This gives me better control on the flow of the granules. I fill up the outer chamber first and then the inner one. Any slight over flows, I wash it off.

All in all, it takes 3 minutes tops. Well worth the effort.

I agree that the cartridge was not easy to fill -the beads are a little tricky to get into the cartridge (they sort of stick to each other and to the bag they are in and to your hands, so it takes awhile to get them packed in).

However, the cost savings definitely makes up for the slight trouble -3 separate cartridges would range from approx. $36 $45, while this package of 3 refills only cost $19.00! Well worth the extra 5 minutes every 3 months.

This cartridge refill works great with my humidifier and is much cheaper than buying the actual cartridge. Most of the white dust is eliminated, just be sure to soak the refilled cartridge for at least 24 hours. I only use the humidifier at night and have found that it works much better if you keep the cartridge covered in water when the unit is not on.

I bought these replacement packs as they are cheaper than buying the entire prepacked cartridges, however, after fumbling trying to pack the filter beads into the cartridge, I would *NOT* recommend going this route.

The problem is that the filter beads absorb any amount of water in the air even inside the sealed packs they arrive in and swell, so that you are trying to coax swollen, wet, sticky beads into a small annulus of the cartridge without getting them into the center the small amount of money you save is not worth the effort involved.

If you are cleaning with vinegar make sure to run at least 3 full containers of straight water through after. The vinegar seems to take a long time to leave this system.

This is a very simple piece of plastic. Your Tassimo should have included one and you only need to purchase this if looking for a replacement. You can use this over and over. Essentially it is a place holder for where a T-Disc would go and it has a barcode that instructs your Tassimo on what to do...pump hot water through the system. Again, once you have this disk, it can be used over and over.
