(3-Pack) Frigidaire NGRG-2000 Compatible Refrigerator Water Filter Save 17% Off

(3-Pack) Frigidaire NGRG-2000 Compatible Refrigerator Water Filter by Zuma Water FiltersThese filters were exactly as described and easy to locate on Amazon with their product description. I also appreciate the reasonable pricing. I have been using one filter for a month, and it produces significantly better tasting water than the tap source, which is exactly as I''d hoped. Shipping was prompt. Great service and will definitely reorder from this vendor when the time comes!

I paid a lot less for these than the name-brand ones I purchased previously. My water definitely tastes better than it did with the last name-brand cartridge. These are also more eco-friendly, a definite bonus!

50 Gallon Per Day 6-Stage Home Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System with Ultraviolet Disinfection

  • UV destroys 99.99% of bacteria, virus & protozoan cysts (Giardia lamblia & Cryptosporidium).

  • Enjoy the huge savings and convenience of pure water directly from your tap vs. bottled water.
  • Use RO Purified Water for Drinking, Cooking & Ice for improved flavor and increased health benefits

If it works as described, as I belive that it does, judging from other reverse osmosis filters I have seen, it is a 5 out of 5 star deal... in terms of usage; but, installation, and the price to install it, is another issue. It is very difficult to install, more so than is described. It would take $100''s of dollars to install, and that much more doubled to uninstall if it were to malfuction and need to be returned. If you have enough money for the over-head, then this product is probably going to satisfy you; otherwise, get something cheaper and easier to install (that probably does not work as well).

I was replacing an existing RO. This went in slick.. The documentation and all the little labels on the RO made it go smooth !

I managed to get it all installed in about 35 minutes, mainly because I already had a waterline going to my ice maker, so I used the included Y-adapter and split the outflow of filtered water. One end led to the newly installed (and included) filtered water faucet and the other went right back to the ice maker as it did originally. Simply, great price and works as expected.

FloJet BW4000 Bottled Water Dispensing System PLUS Save 23% Off

FloJet BW4000 Bottled Water Dispensing System PLUSI love this device. We place our five gallon bottles next to table and let this pump move the water to where we want it. We ran a split water line from the pump to the refrig and one to a faucet, so we have water without lifting heavily bottles. a life saver or back saver It''s was the best until its fails!

NOW THE BAD i used the system for a YEAR and a day and the internal pipe burst and water leak out from the unit. Since Warranty is only for a year, I discovered the case is not sealed, as I first thought, but is held in place by four clips that are built into the bottom half of the case, for those who are interested, 2cm before the corners.

After opening the unit the fix was easy, the output hose inside the unit (from the pump to the output fitting) busted under pressure. The manufacturer used the same type hose used from the pump unit to the water bottle, not good for pressure applications.

I repaired the unit using a Nylon Reinforced Faucet Supply Line, Part Number 507-F3120 and two hose clamps. After looking at the unit''s inners it seems to be well designed except for that 6" tubing.

A message to the manufacture: you have a fine product, fix this weak link inside the unit and you will have a great product. Remember happy customers increase sales.

I love this little device. We now place our five gallon bottles of water in a cabinet (out of sight) and let this little pump move the water to where we want it. We ran a split water line from the pump to the refrig and one to the Kuerig coffee maker, so now we have the best tasting water in both places. The pump automatically kicks on when we get chilled water from the frig, the frig makes ice or the coffee maker is brewing. No manual intervention required. It''s really a cool little pump.

Pros: Easy to setup and install

Con: It''s a little noisier than I wish. Even in a cabinet, you can hear it when it runs. It''s not an unacceptable noise though, just a humming sound.

KRUPS XP3200 Opio Pump Boiler Espresso Machine Save 62% Off

KRUPS XP3200 Opio Pump Boiler Espresso Machine, BlackI wrote the review below when I got the machine. Now two months later it won''t steam. I''ve tried everything and it wont'' work. Even though this was a gift, I guess you get what you pay for with this machine.

After working as a barista at several private coffee shops I was worried about getting an espresso machine that would fit my budget and my coffee tastes. I got this machine a few days ago as a Christmas present and have had no problems with it. It heats up quick and is fairly easy to use. It does take a little getting used to some things though. It does take longer to steam cold milk than what I was used to, and I discovered that it was harder to tamp the coffee grounds down, but it makes a decent mocha or latte. I liked that it did froth the milk very well so there was a nice foam and brews the espresso with a nice crema on top. I''m going to experiment with different coffee brands and even try the E.S.E. pods. One thing I was worried about was the reviews about water leaking from the bottom of the machine. I discovered that after using the steamer it releases the water and pressure out the bottom into the drip tray. I didn''t really believe the directions when they said to empty the tray after each use, but it definitely does need to be done. I would have given it 5 stars, but I think the learning curve with the grounds isn''t as easy to use as some other machines out there.

This machine makes great espresso for a great price. The crema (foam on top) is always impeccable. BUT there is one extremely common issue with this machine that is also extremely easy to fix.

PROBLEM: machine fails to pump out any water (even with full tank & green light on)

SOLUTION: you are tamping (pressing) the coffee grounds down TOO tightly in the basket! Take the grounds out, shuffle them around to break up clumps, and place back in basket with decreased tamping pressure. Works like a charm.

So being from Italy, I know good coffee. Been through many mid range cappuccino makers and they all sucked. This machine is by far the best I ever owned. The espresso crema is outstanding. Don''t waste your money on high dollar machines, by this one. You will be very happy.

PS make sure you read the milk frothing directions. You have to purge the water before steam. Easy process.

Machine broke after about 6 cups of coffee. Pumps ran but water failed to pump from tank. Steamer worked so it must have been some issue with the pump delivering to the grounds. Made a nice cup of coffee otherwise, like the previous reviews said, nothing amazing but a nice crema.

Came back to edit my review after 5 mos of use, Ive had no problems at all with this machine past the initial issue. Might have just been a new machine fluke.

I like this machine because it takes up little room on my counter, it makes a good shot of espresso and it''s reasonably priced. I also like that it has a storage area for the accessories. They don''t get lost in my junk drawer.

Profile Design Aqualite drinking system for Aero handlebar Save 10% Off

Profile Design Aqualite Drink SystemSupposedly using the aerodrink system in a front mounted fashion is the most aero way to store your drink during time trials. It was a bit of work to get it setup and I needed the extender brackets too which added a bit of complication, but it works well. Sitll a little hard to drink, and splashing is an issue unless you use the yellow spongy thingy, but with this system you never come out of your tuck, which is what it''s all about.

With this system I find that I at least remember to drink some...whereas with a down-tube aero bottle, I rarely wanted to reach down because it was kind of precarious.

It''s a nice aero bottle for shorter rides. I usually take this one when I do 40K rides or less. Anything longer and I take the larger version. The good thing is that they both fit in the same mount. The mount is pretty good but it takes a little effort and some enginuity in order to get it to hold the bottle nice and stable without moving about. I ended up running some tape through the mount and around the bars before installing the velcro straps.

It took a while to get this where i needed it on bike. I find I drink more water wit

H this while ridinG. I did have to get a bracket to fit between the aero bars because my set up does not have them close enough.

Want Profile Design Aqualite drinking system for Aero handlebar Discount?

I agree with other reviews that this system makes it much easier and convenient to hydrate more during a ride. Keeping both hands on the bars while drinking is a real plus. My only issue is the minor leakage around the straw when liquid sloshes around in the bottle and early in the ride while the liquid level is high. With only water in the bottle it is really no problem, but with anything else it will create a sticky mess on your bike.

Bosch TAS1000UC Tassimo Single-Serve Coffee Brewer

Bosch TAS1000UC Tassimo Single-Serve Coffee Brewer, AnthraciteI purchased this machine because I like to drink various drinks as the whim takes me. Tassimo allows you to do this. Also, most of the time I''m by myself, so don''t need to make a large pot of coffee. Before I made the purchase, I was comparing Keurig with the Tassimo. The reason I chose the Tassimo was a) the price b) the T-discs were more available than the K-cups and the only K-cups the stores here carried were Van Houtte coffee, which I detest c) reviews said the Tassimo makes better lattes and cappuccinos. I''m extremely happy with the machine for the following reasons:

absolutely no mess

the availability of different brews, from very dark roasts to light roast, hot chocolate (which IS a bit sweet), teas, lattes (in particular my fave, chai latte), cappuccinos, espressos, cremas and even decafs I like a darker roast but was even able to find t-disks that were too strong for me

I like that I can have 4 friends over and give them their preference of hot brews

the tank is big enough that I don''t have to fill it for each cup

the bar code reader means a perfect brew each time

the size is relatively small, smaller than my old espresso machine and my regular drip coffee machine (both of which have now been sold off)

you have a cup of coffee in a matter of minutes vs a drip coffee machine or even a french press

using just the cleaner disk, you can also simply spit out hot water for your own tea bags

most of the t-disks are a reasonable price, brewing a cuppa can be less than 50 cents a cup. The Starbucks disks are more expensive, taking you closer to a dollar a cup, but what the hey, what did you pay the last time you actually went into a Starbucks? :)

Cons and yes, even though I LOVE this machine, there ARE some cons:

most of the disks make a small cuppa (10 oz)unless you get the breakfast blends, which will make a bigger cup, or you can simply brew 2 disks.

the cup stand doesn''t have finite adjustment you can fit a regular sized mug, the stand adjusts for smaller mugs, but then it''s a big leap to a large mug. If you have a slightly bigger mug, you have to set it on the bottom and then you get some splashing

the foam is not as stable as coffee shop foams, but then for $99, I didn''t expect it to be. As well the foam stability depends on the t-disk manufacturer as well. Nabob cappuccino was quite firm foam that lasted the duration of the drink.

t-disk storage takes up a bit of space but I''m still in the "try all the varieties until I find my favourite brew" stage, so I have a lot of selections at the moment

In Dec 2009, Tassimo is coming out with packages of just the latte cream. You will then also be able to use it simply as a milk frother if you wish, or you can make any of your favourite brews into a latte.

Aug 2010 this machine has been updated somewhat. The newer machines are a bit smaller, taking up a bit less room yet, on your counter. This is mainly due to a redesign of the tank. I just bought my second machine and will be taking the older one to use at work.

Apr 2011 I just had an opportunity to compare the Tassimo system to a Keurig. To be fair, the Keurig was the single cup model, which requires you to add water each time. I found the Keurig to be incredibly slow to brew, in comparison with the Tassimo. I don''t know whether it''s the single-cup model or whether all Keurigs are that slow. I didn''t like the coffee, but do realize that different brews can be found in the K-cups, other than the one that I was provided with (Timothy''s).

Tassimo has just released more T-disks, there are now decaf cappuccinos available as well as a black tea disk. As for the Starbucks disks being discontinued, I''m not aware of that as they are still widely available in Canada.

July 2011 I can now voice displeasure at Tassimo customer service. In Canada, when you purchase a brewer, you are promised coupons for two packages of free disks. I registered for my coupons, yet several months later had not received them. I contacted customer service again, now several months ago and was promised replacement coupons which I also have not received. If you purchase one of these brewers, DO NOT expect free disks with them. If you get them, bonus.

As well, I''ve noticed a swing in t-disk availability. T-disks seem to have dropped off drastically in popularity in terms of being available in local stores. K-cups have increased greatly. Though I still think the Tassimo is the better machine, I have now purchased a Cuisinart K-cup machine. At present I continue to use both. The K-cup advantage is the ability to use your own coffee blends, which Tassimo still does not offer.

August 2012 I have now made a complete switch to the Keurig system. My reasons for this are following:

the selection of K-cups is HUGE compared to t-disks.

Starbucks switched from Tassimo to Keurig meaning that I could finally get K-cups that I liked still don''t like strong coffee, but too many of the other K-cups are too bland, forcing me to brew them at 8 and even 6 oz

never did receive my free t-disks, which really kind of made me angry

the second Tassimo machine now has the red light problem light comes on for descaling, but despite going through the treatment, the light has remained on, this is obviously an issue with the Tassimo machines

stores don''t carry the full line of t-disks, so limited selection of t-disks AND limited availability

the Keurig machine tanks are a little easier to fill as they are either on the side or at the front top, instead of the Tassimos which are at the back, making accessibility difficult if you have it sitting on a counter under upper cupboards

I still say Tassimo has the better system, but they need to improve their customer service, their machine descaling light and their selection of t-disks as well as their marketing to major retailers. Keurig still does not do any foaming drinks and is still a much slower machine, but I find I''m using it more than I used my Tassimo simply because I can find a lot of K-cups that I like (iced tea, variety of hot teas, and lots of different brews). When a friend recently asked me which system I preferred I used the analogy that the Tassimo was like a Beta machine and the Keurig was like the VHS (yes, I date myself with that one!). The Beta machine was a much better system, but everyone bought into the VHS.

I have to say this item has impressed me more than any other kitchen appliance I have purchased in the last fifteen years.

Like all new "concepts", you tend to raise your eyebrows a bit about a new method of preparing an age old food preparation, whether it be a blender, chopper, or in this case the traditional coffee maker. Frankly, my only real concern was the future availability of the Tassimo Coffee "T-discs" as without them, the system becomes useless of course.

But after my father passed away two years ago, my mom began to drink "instant coffee" after being a brewed coffee devotee for over 65 years. Brewing 8 cups of traditionally made coffee for a single elderly person just seemed to be a big waste of time, as well as unused coffee. She seemed to be, a perfect candidate for this unique individual cup coffee brewer. Having tried this item once in an upscale Resort Hotel on a business trip, I was convinced to give it a try as an answer to my Mom''s particular situation.

The coffee was absolutely WONDERFUL! She has fell in love with Starbucks Columbian "pods", but I also purchased the Verona, Cappucino, as well as the Expresso Pods and will continue to purchase new blends as they beome available. As my tea drinking Sister lives nearby and visits often, I also purchased the Twinings Chai Latte as well as the Earl Grey Tea "T-Discs" so she could enjoy a hot beverage with our Mom while they are together.

Although I traditionally grind & brew my own Gevalia Coffee Beans here at home in a 8 cup brewer, I decided to purchase an additional Bosch Tassimo maker for my home as well; as the availability of Expresso and Cappuccino brews is something I can now enjoy as I desire. Now, my Sister''s best friend who lost her husband recently has tried it at my Mom''s home, and they purchased her a new Bosch Tassimo maker for her home for her recent birthday gift.

Incredibly easy to operate, my 87 year old mother has no problem in brewing the wonderfully fresh hot brewed coffee she had enjoyed for over 65 years.

I want to thank Amazon.com for once again searching out yet another unique and quality made kitchen appliance that has become a big winner for our entire family of coffee and tea lovers. I just received an Email from Amazon notifying me of a new shipment of Tassimo T-discs that has arrived at their central warehouse which is just another way this fine Internet Products purveyor does an outstanding job for their regular customers.

THANK YOU AMAZON!!!

Easy to use, great tasting latte and cappuccino, much cheaper than coffee house, what more could I ask for? The answer is: nothing. Okay, maybe a smaller unit I can buy as a 2nd unit to keep on my desk at work.

Instead of spending $4-$5 dollars everyday for a coffee house latte on the way to work; I just make a double or triple latte straight into my insulated travel mug and I''m all set for the morning.

I also enjoy the bolder brews such as the Starbucks Verona T-discs. The Twinning Chai Latte is also excellent as an alternative to the daily espresso. If you go more for hot chocolate, I definitely recommend the Milka over the Suchard (which is way too sweet for my taste). Either works well to make your latte into a mocha. For espresso and latte; I prefer the Gevalia.

Maintenance so far has consisted of a descale after 9 months.

I''ve owned one of these for a year, purchased at Bed, Bath, & Beyond (I guess this qualifies as "beyond"). I''m not very impressed by this product, in spite of the hype and high price.

I bought this (instead of Senseo or Keurig) because it was totally automated, and had this way cool bar code reader. Huh... I also wanted Starbucks coffee, which wasn''t available from the other brands.

First off, I''ve found that the coffee tends to be either too weak or too strong. The remedy for too strong is to manually add hot water, which is fine if you like standing next to the coffee maker with your finger holding the button for 15-20 seconds. There is no remedy for too weak other than not buying that product. There is no provision for manually determining the portion size; this is set by the bar code on the pod automatically.

Second, the pods are quite expensive, and not easily available. None of the grocery stores around where I live carry them, and very few "boutique" stores carry the coffee types I like, including the BB&B where I bought the maker originally. I''ve had to buy the pods mail order, mostly from Amazon. I''ve ordered a few items directly from Tassimo, and found that their service leaves a lot to be desired. Their shipping charges are high, even for ground shipment, and the items took over a week to arrive the last time I ordered.

Third, the "head" of the thing (whatever it''s called) seems to require frequent removal and cleaning with soap and water. This can be a pain in the neck.

Fourth, there is no way to use your own blend of coffee or make your own pods as there is with the competition. You''re stuck with whomever Tassimo negotiated. (For example, they don''t sell a REAL cocoa mix; it''s "chocolate FLAVOR", which tastes like crap to me). I also found I didn''t really like the selection of coffees, even Starbucks.

In conclusion, I''d recommend one of the alternatives if you want a single-cup brewer. I just bought a Keurig from Amazon, and so far I''m impressed. I''m selling my Tassimo...

I like coffee but I don''t drink it everyday. To me the coffee tasted pretty good. My wife loves coffee but drinks only like a cup a day. So take my review for what it''s worth. If your lucky enough you can try a cup or sample if you know someone who has one or catch it on demo somewhere. The main competitor of this is the Keurig coffee maker which you can also catch on demo. These machines are great so you don''t have to wash a coffee pot everyday for just a cup or two of coffee. If you drink a lot, then stick with the pot. These machines advertise no clean up. Yeah right... You need to rinse any parts that come into contact with liquid and wipe it. Still easier than washing a pot and filter tub. If you don''t then your coffee will taste off and the build up will cause problems later. And not to mention that is just gross.

The difference between the Tassimo and the Keurig is that the Tassimo reads a barcode on the coffee discs and it adjusts the brew temperature amount of water, pressure, etc. and by doing this you can have a regular cup of coffee, espresso, make a latte, americano etc. with the milk discs. So you can make different types of coffee drinks. It won''t be as good as the rob you blind coffee shops but still decent. Imagine how much money you would save after a month. But keep in mind, most of these type of single cup coffee makers make about 8 ounces of coffee. Most orginated for the European market and they drink like 4 ounces. You can manually press a button and send more water through but your coffee will be watered down. You don''t have the option of buying your favorite flavor with a larger serving. There are only a couple coffee flavors out there that makes an average Amercian mug sized serving.

The Keurig is basically a drip machine. You choose from like four programed drink sizes and the machine will dispense as such. The premeasured coffee grind cups are more suited for the smaller serving. The bigger the size, the more watered down the flavor will become. Since this is more of a drip machine, it can''t make an espresso or latte style drink. The coffee on the Keurig also tasted decent.

Here are some points that might help in the decission proccess.

Tassimo can make drip, lattes, cappucino, americano, and espresso type drinks. But remember, it won''t be like from a real coffee shop. Just an imitation. Keurig, only drip. Both offer teas as well.

Tassimo small selection of varieties compared to Keurig. Keurigs offerings is huge. Keurig also has a reusable cup filter that you can put your own coffee grinds in and make your own so basically your selection of coffee is limitless. It comes included with the machine depending on where you buy it.

The Tassimo coffee is not as available in stores. You can find them mainly at Bed Bath & Beyond and Target. And they carry only a small selection. The Keurig coffee you can find just about anywhere and more selections.

If you drink mainly just drip coffee more than lattes, espressos, etc. Then probably better off with the Keurig and treat yourself to a real latte, espresso, etc. at a real coffee shop because it will taste better. If you like changing up and can live with it''s not the real thing but better than paying $$$ for a cup. Then maybe the Tassimo. If a good cup of coffee with the fancy names is the world to you and you can afford it, then stick with what you are doing now.

I didn''t bother to mention the other single cup disc/cup coffee machines out there because they are not as popular and you might be stuck with a machine that you can''t find coffee for. Hamilton Beach now makes a single cup coffee maker unit and also a dual single cup / 12 cup coffe maker called the Scoop and the Dual. The single is a small unit that comes with two premeasured reuseable filters that you use to scoop your grinds in and then place directly into the unit but it doesn''t have a timer. The dual unit is a full size coffee maker with a seperate single serve maker on the side. The dual does have a timer function that works for both sides. Both units have two brew strengths to choose from. The units can take the senseo coffee discs also, but be aware that the senseo discs are designed to be used with a pressurized system. The Hamilton Beach does not use pressure and you won''t get the full intended flavor out of them. The reviews have been pretty positive on the Scoops.

So bottom line is flavor and availabilty of coffee. You can buy online also if you can''t find what you like in the store. Something you should take into account if you don''t live near any stores that carry your favorites. And mind you, the stores carry only a limited selection of offerings. You have to go online if you want the full line of flavors. And with Tassimo you are really limited in the stores compared to Keurig. Next time you go to a store, take a look at what they have and you will get an idea of what I am talking about.

Update: Starbucks did not continue thier contract with Tassimo, so your selections is dwindled down even more now with Tassimo. I down graded my review from 4 stars down to 3 stars now because of the even less limited varieties of coffee available for Tassimo.

Healthmate Jr. HEGA

Healthmate Jr. HEGAI bought the Austin Healthmate Jr. about 5 years ago for a dusty area and have been happy with it. The three things I like best about it are that you don''t have to buy filters very often because you can vacuum the outside of the filter and that it''s relatively quiet. The other thing is that it''s a HEPA filter takes air in on all four sides and blows the filtered air out through the top area. It seems to do a good job of filtering the air. It''s more energy efficient than air purifiers I''ve used in the past and it has 3 speeds which is nice.

If you use it in really dusty conditions like mine, you can replace the pre-filter more often than the big filter. I''ve found this type of material that I could cut to fit at a local hardware store. You get a pre-filter with it. You have to take it apart to replace the pre-filter and filters, but it isn''t difficult. You can turn off the machine and vacuum it from the outside and that seems to help the filters last longer. Of course, you''ll want to use a vacuum cleaner with a hepa filter or you defeat the purpose. I replace mine about once a year, but I think the average person could go much longer.

Barrier Replacement Water Filter Cartridge

Barrier Replacement Water Filter Cartridge - For Premia And Grand, Filters up to 95 Gallons of H2O
  • Barrier filter cartridges lasts more than 2x longer than the competition (95 Gallon Vs. 45 Gallon).
  • Each filter is equivalent to 760 - 16 oz. water bottles, which reduces landfill waste, and saves $100''s of dollars, and prevents landfill waste
  • For use with BARRIER Grand, and the BARRIER Premia style pitchers
  • Filters water of: active chlorine, organic and organochlorine impurities, pesticides, petroleum products, Lead, Mercury, Copper, Benzene, Cadmium, Chloroform and Surfactant.

Well what more can you say, it''s a quality OEM filter, and it is a great price! I was unsure whether this was a certified filter due to the cheap price however it was, and I couldn''t be happier!

I called the company, who issued a credit immediately, and went to Target and bought a Mr. Cofffee carafe (as suggested by one of the previous reviewers) at half the price. This Mr. Coffee carafe has worked very well. Sort of glad that it worked out this way saved me some dollars!

So if I were reviewing the carafe on basic functionality, it gets the job done. It keeps all hot fluids contained and pours easily into mugs of various shapes and sizes. I purchased this as a replacement because my first carafe broke. This brings me to the flimsy part... my carafe broke while in my draining board. A glass (also in the draining board) was bumped and it fell on the carafe. The glass survived, the carafe did not. Granted, I do not expect my coffee carafe to survive a 3 foot fall to the ground, a good bump by my cast iron skillet, or nuclear winter for that matter, but it couldn''t stand up to a wimpy object... made of the same material, albeit more sturdily constructed.

I bought this new carafe for my KitchenAid Pro Line Coffee Maker because the original carafe was in a buzillion pieces when the coffee maker arrived. There were tips online that coffee carafes from Mr. Coffee and others would work, but that''s not the way I operate, so I bought this new carafe on Amazon and found it to be a fine purchase. It feels somewhat fragile but I don''t know how true that is. It''s not heavy at all and is easy to fill and clean. It also comes with an orange lid for when you make decaf. All in all, it was a great product that looks sharp and I had no problems with the shipper or Amazon. Thanks!

Pentek 3G-STANDARD-CLEAR-34-PR10 Whole House Standard 10 inch Filter Housing

Pentek 3G-STANDARD-CLEAR-34-PR10 Whole House Standard 10 inch Filter HousingI have used a Pentek standard 10 clear with no pressure release red button or valve in head for 13 years no trouble. However, because it lacks either of those two attributes it is simpler then many and therefore it is not possible to judge the performance or durability of more complex Penteks. Plus mine is in an unusually low stress situation. Low pressure, 3-4 gpm, no sunlight. All that aside, I only give it a 3 at best because of the enormous amount of difficulty in getting any information. Penteks site is barren, and none of the many retailers know anything either. Just wanted a backup plus maybe some improvement. Took forever just to get the relevent model # of unit without a pressure release, for instance. Wonder what the "3g" in this particular model stands for or how it differs from others? Welcome to the world of blank stares. Waste a day like I did. Anyway, finally found most of info all in one place. Here''s the link. hydrotechwater.com/pdf/catalogs/canadian/catalogue-cdn-07-pentek.pdf At least for Pentek, but other manufacturers on Amazon like Culligan have exact crossovers and are made by same company. Wish I''d had it this morning. Someone post a comment and tell me I whine too much. From a wholesaler, not a competitor of Amazon. Pass on the help.

Zojirushi Stainless Steel Mug with Tea Strainer Save 32% Off

Zojirushi Stainless Steel Mug with Tea StrainerI withdrew my previous, somewhat critical review and I''m replacing it with this. Having used this mug a while, I''ve fallen in love with it. It''s extremely high quality in materials and construction. The vacuum holds the temperature a very long time.

This is not intended for a car; it won''t fit the holder. Rather it is for the Asian practice of making green tea and carrying around at work. There is a little removeable tea basket to brew in the mug. Only 11 oz but very comfortable to hold, slim. Expensive but worth it.

Having worked for an electronics company which did vacuum packaging, I can tell you that most of the "vacuums" in home / kitchen products will not last very long before leaking in air. This means the heat retention capability will deteriorate over time. Zojirushi is different; they make equipment for the restaurant trade and it lasts.

I have searched for quite a while for the "perfect" spiced Chai Tea-making device. While this isn''t EXACTLY it, it comes pretty close while fitting my needs for a travel-type mug. Construction on this is good, there is a small compartment built into the top which allows storage of your raw tea mixture. Inside the screw top is a base for the mesh tea basket which hangs in your tea (for steeping). When you have steeped to your hearts content, you can unscrew the top, flip it over (the spices inside the top will not spill out) and slip the tea basket onto the lid. This clever bit of engineering allows for your milk or water to pool in a small drainage area while you sip your tea from the mug. Additionally, the mug is double-walled and offers very impressive thermal retention. If you can spare the change in the short-term, this method beats the Chai Tea served at your typical over-priced coffeehouses.

I bought this tea mug because of the great reviews and because I thought that stainless steel would be much safer in contact with boiling hot water than plastic tea travel mugs. I was very disappointed when I received the item to learn that the stainless steel mug is lined with a nonstick coating and that the tea basket is made of polyproylene. I certainly don''t want boiling hot water touching plastic or a chemical coating! I had to return the mug.

Yet again, Zojirushi has impressed me with an extremely durable piece of equipment that perfectly accomplishes everything for which it was designed. I am in love with this company. Everything I''ve bought from them is fantastic. I use this container daily at work, and I can''t imagine that I will ever get tired of it. It makes the steeping process completely painless, even preventing spillage by way of a clever steeper-holding cap design which is detailed very nicely in the manual. Personally, I''ve never found any use for the cap''s ability to contain dried product. I like that it''s there in case of an emergency, but I''ve never had to go beyond my morning restock of the wonderfully secure and obviously well-crafted mesh/plastic basket. The lid is secure; the thing is insulated perfectly; it could probably withstand a toss from the Taipei 101. I''d give it six stars if I could.

How can you call yourself a travel mug and have no way to drink out of it when you are traveling, I guess I was mislead on this. I was looking for a spill proof travel mug that I could drink in the car or take somewhere and drink from it, having the lid off does not make it spill proof if it gets tipped over on my desk. I have to admit it does keep things very hot for a long period of time.

Klean Kanteen Wide Mouth Cafe Cap

Klean Kanteen Wide Mouth Cafe CapWhy listen to me? I carry two 64oz KKanteens of water into work with me every day, and switch this top between them as they are being consumed throughout the work day. I''ve owned this product for about a month now and use it 6 days a week.

It consists of two pieces: the base, and a disk shaped cover that inserts at the top that turns 90 degrees to either expose a drinking port, or obscure it. This is NOT spill-proof. If the container tips, fluid will spill out.

Drinking without spilling any on you is easy if you use the right techinique. No need to elaborate it here... try it with water first and you''ll get it right after a few tries.

It works, BUT: There is a problem with this design. The rotating disk insert traps fluid between it and the base beneath it. If you do not frequently wash these parts with soap and water AND pop off the top so the area between them can dry, it will get a fetid smell to it as bacteria grows. The disk is not designed to be regularly removed from the base; I have to squeeze the plastic insert that holds it on and pop the thing off. I have a feeling that eventually, the part that holds the rotating disk on is going to break from doing this. I have no other choice though as it cannot dry out without being seperated. Once it does break it can still be used as a sipping lid with a hole that cant be closed.

This cap is easier to drink out of by far than having to remove and reattach the screw on lid the containers ship with but it could definitely be improved. I will be looking for another sippy-cup type lid for my Kleen Kanteens, but it wont be one of these the second time around.

Conclusion: Better than nothing but needs improvement.

I just got my Klean Kanteen Wide Mouth Insulation Thermos and I ordered the Café Cap at the same time. I am so glad I did. I love the Klean Kanteens but didn''t like unscrewing and screwing every time I wanted a drink. This lets you drink hot or cold beverages at home, work or on the go.

One caveat, it is not leak proof and it not spill proof. I found that out yesterday when I moved my arm too quickly and found it covered with hot tea.

I also wish you could open and shut it with one hand but it''s not enough to make me change thermoses.

Klean Kanteen Wide Mouth Insulated Water Bottle with Loop Cap

I carefully shopped around for a stainless water bottle with as little plastic as possible. I was totally sold on this cafe cap due to the description, which says "Stainless steel interior, polypro exterior allows a 100% stainless steel interior" but unfortunately in reality the entire lid is plastic. Big bummer.

It does leak!

Dont listen to the people that say "its just water trapped in the lid that dripps out." If my bottle is on its side or upside down all the water will drip out of it in a minute or two and being how I have the 64 oz bottle thats alot of water.

KleenKanteen, love you guys, but get your act together, this cap is crap. Plus, you have no alternative lids for your wide mouth bottles other than unscrewing the stock lid everytime you want a sip of water which is a pain.

The problem with buying coffee at your favorite coffee shop, is that I inevitably burn my hands while trying to carry it to the car. There, I inevitably spill as I go over bumps or, worse, put my finger over the whole on the lid and burn my fingers. I''ve tried using those insulated paper waffle covers, even wrapping numerous napkins around it...but it''s so wasteful. Then, when I get home, my coffee is too cold. I maybe try to microwave it, but, sometimes the cups can "melt" at the seams. Clearly, I needed a new solution.

So, I bought the double-walled / insulated stainless Klean Kanteens. First, no more burning hands while holding it. That''s fantastic. But the lid they come with, while virtually spill proof, isn''t really conducive to one handed opening/sipping in the car...that''s where this lid comes in! While you can''t invert the kanteen with this lid on (it''ll leak), it does a better job than my "finger over the whole" of the plastic lids on the paper cups (and I definitely don''t recommend inverting the paper cups with the plastic lids!!!)

Lastly, the insulated Kanteen keeps my coffee hot for hours. So much so, I have to add ice to get it to a cooler drinking temperature as it won''t cool off!

For the car, this lid is perfect....minimizes "speed bump" spills. Allows for easy one-handed operation. A perfect "green" solution for the car. So long disposable cups that burn my hands, leak, and disintegrate upon reheat...hello Klean Kanteen!

Cuisinart DGB-550BK Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker Save 51% Off

Cuisinart DGB-550BK Grind-and-Brew 12-Cup Automatic Coffeemaker, Black/Brushed MetalI did alot of research before purchasing this coffee machine. Read so many reviews and finally decided to do it. I am so pleased with this product. I realize some people feel it is too noisy (when it grinds the coffee beans, JUST before brewing) and I can say it is noisy. (My own individual grinder was pretty noisy too) So for me to be able to wake up to freshly ground and brewed coffee it worth it. My machine goes off at 5:50am and I do not even hear it.I get up around 6am and have great coffee.I choose to clean it when I am done and head out to work at 6:50am. When I get home all the parts are dry and I simply set it all up for the next day. I do have a suggestion, do not buy the coffee maker paired with the goldtoned filter as advertised on Amazon. It is the wrong filter for that machine. The machine comes with it''s own goldtoned filter basket. All in all this is a great coffee maker.

I purchased this coffee maker in August of 2005 from a local retailer, and it has performed flawlessly until today (Dec. 30, 2007). I clean the machine every weekend, since we have highly calcified water where I live. Today, it would not heat the water enough to cause the dripping cycle to operate and some water leaked out of the bottom of the machine onto my countertop.

I called the customer service folks (keep those owner''s manuals and purchase receipts) and was pleased to learn that this coffee maker has a three-year warranty. They are sending a replacement coffee maker immediately at no cost to me! All I have to do is send the defective one back to them when the new one arrives(about a $10 cost to me).

I was very pleased with the treatment I received from the service rep on the phone. I have nothing but praise for Cusinart products (I have a blender and a food processor too), and now I can vouch that they stand behind their merchandise, even after 2+ years of use.

Incidentally, the coffe maker grinds coffee and brews it better than any machine I have ever owned. It is a bit noisy when the grinder kicks on, but we''ve grown accustomed to its 30-second whine. The machine requires careful, daily cleaning and might be too high-maintenance for some folks; but if you like great coffee, fresh-ground and steaming hot at wakeup every day, this machine will not disappoint.

Highly recommended.

I just purchased this coffee maker to replace my Cuisinart Coffee on Demand. This is the second coffee maker like this that I have owned and I am glad that I have come home. When my coffee on demand went out, I purchased another brand coffee maker and returned it within 3 days.

My husband and I consider ourselves coffee snobs and about a year ago began purchasing our coffee whole bean solely and thought it would be a great "ease" in our morning coffee routine to own this machine again.

I have read reviews about the difficulty of cleaning and noise of the grinder. It is actually really easy. After I grind and brew a pot of deliciously strong, rich, hot coffee; I open the lid and take out the grinder rinse it off with hot water and set it on a towel. I then take out the gold tone filter, empty the grounds, rinse it and set it on the towel. Then I remove the filter basket and lid and rinse them and set them on the towel. I leave the top lid open to dry out the inside and by the time I am ready to brew another pot of coffee all parts and inside of the machine are dry and ready to go. All together it takes me less than minutes to clean it. And then when all the parts are ready for a deep clean, I through all parts, including the carafe and lid, into the dishwasher. Piece of cake.

All in all this is the most incredible coffee maker that I have ever owned and the easiet to use and I don''t have to worry now about replacing my worn out bean grinder, my coffee maker doesn it for me.

And a note about the grinder basket. I have read reviews that have said that it doesn''t hold enough beans for a full 12 cups and then it can''t be adjusted for the 1-4 cup feature. The grinder holds just as many beans as what I used in my counter top grinder for 12 cups. And if you only want to brew 1-4 cups of coffee, only put in enough beans for 1-4 cups. The grinder will still run for the 30 seconds that it is set for the 12 cups but it works well and you don''t even realize it''s doing it.

I would highly recommend anyone who loves to brew whole bean coffee, whether occasionally or everyday, to buy this machine. You don''t have to always brew whole beans it this machine, you can turn off the grinder and place pre-ground coffee right into the filter. Also a piece of cake.

I would also recommend that you try the gold tone filter that comes with it. It mixes the oil from the whole bean in with the coffee and gives such a boost in the coffees smoothness and flavor.

I received the coffee maker as a gift. Although the coffee is great, the cleanup and maintenance offset any advantages of using the grinder. The problem is that excessive condensation accumulates in the grinder during the brewing cycle, leaving a wet and sticky mess because of the residual coffee grounds in the grinder.

Although its a messy cleanup, this is a bearable problem if you don''t plan on making another pot prior to an overnight air dry of the grinder. However, if you do attempt to make another pot, then the residual moisture creates even greater problems because you cannot sufficiently dry the grinder to prevent an even greater quantity of coffee grounds from sticking in it during the next brewing cycle.

I suppose that you could use a hair dryer to thoroughly dry the grinder, but that''s more trouble than its worth. Consequently, I have gone back to using a separate grinder, thereby avoiding the messy cleanup and maintenance problems.

In short, the cleanup is much easier if you use a separate grinder. I thus use this coffee maker with the grind feature turned off. However, this nullifies one of its major selling points. Thus, I would not recommend this product.

I love this coffee maker. We have have been looking for the perfect coffee maker for a long time. We have tried a french press, the senseo and various other coffee machines. None were good enough resulting in expensive daily trips to Latte Land. This machine has changed everything.

I almost bought it in March then decided not too because of the "messy clean up" reviews. What a shame I didn''t get it then. It makes fantastic coffee. Just tastes great and my husband is very selective about the perfect cup. It is an amazingly easy clean up. I just rinse the grinder and dry it with a paper towel. It takes two seconds. It is as easy as changing the filter paper.

Fantastic machine, easy clean up, fast to grind and then brew. (It is quite loud though)

Pentek ECP5-10 Pleated Filter Cartridge, 5 Micron
  • Drop-in cartridge makes filter change fast and easy
  • Resin-impregnated cellulose and polyester fibers provide higher wet strength than regular cellulose
  • Recommended for chlorinated water supplies

This is a simple pleated paper cartridge with pretty good specs a five micron particle size means it will eliminate most (but not all) pollutants and minerals from water. However we have pretty high water pressure, and this seemed to distort the filter and reduce its efficacy pretty quickly. I have replaced it with a more expensive filter that uses both carbon and paper, and encloses it within a metal grid. This seems to retain the shape better. I would guess that if you don''t have a major or chemical problem with your water source, this would be adequate for a simple drinking water system, as long as your pressure is not too high. It is always worth checking out how many gallons each filter is designed to handle this will tell you what its useful life will be. Often you will find that a more expensive filter will handle far more gallons before wearing out or clogging, and that it ends up costing you less over its life. Also, you don''t have to change filters as often, which can sometimes be a pain.
