Imperial Berkey w/ 2 BB''s Save 17% Off

Imperial Berkey w/ 2 BB''sMy wife and I drink more water now. It even tastes better--or rather, you can notice the lack of metals and chemicals. We are super happy that we got this and we recommend this to everyone.

My only quibble with it is that because of the positioning of the spout (it''s not at the very bottom), not all of the filtered water can pour through the spout. So there is always some water left over. However, this just gets mixed in with the filtered water eventually.

It took about 2 days for setup and priming. There is just 2 of us using this, and we have to refill it every other day. It works out perfect.

HINT: we bought a little rolling stand/cart which it sits on top. When we need to fill it, we just roll it over to the sink. Our facet has a pullout spray nozzle which can extend and reach the Berkey. Super easy to fill and no mess.

I have been researching Big Berkey water systems for some time before I decided to make the purchase since it was so pricey but the bottle water investment was getting ridiculous. I refused to drink tap water since finding out what is actually in our water supply (arsenic, sodium flouride, heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, uranium, etc.)you can look it up in your home town and see the levels of it through the EPA website.

The Big Berkey is just amazing not only does it purify amazingly but the taste beats any bottled water you can buy and im very picky with bottled water. Its so satisfying to know that know matter how compromised my tap water becomes I will always have the cleanest best tasting water anywhere.I urge everyone to do your own research and you will see for yourself how amazing this product is, the Red Cross and the World Health organization use Big Berkeys. Make sure you get the one with 2 flouride filters and do a google search on sodium flouride you will see it causes cancer, bone disease, nerve damage and a host of other dangerous side effects. Flouride is the main reason i got this unit since it is added to the water supply statewide and no I do not work for Big Berkey im just excited that im not paying $80 a month for water that isn''t even as good as this!

I purchased this unit about 2 months ago. We have been using it every day and it has been great! The first batch or 2 had a bit of a chalky taste but that may have been our error (not priming it well enough or not filling it properly). Since then I always fill it to the top and it has tasted wonderful! We even did the food coloring test and the water came out clear, as promised.

Other than filling it up to the top the only advice I would give is to wait until it just drips out before re-filling. You can''t see how much water is left, so if you fill it to the top and the bottom chamber still has a lot of water in it, it can overflow. Though, the overflowing really was just a small puddle from it dripping on my counter, so you won''t get a sudden flood. Oh, and you do have to put it at the edge of a counter, otherwise your cup won''t fit under the spout.

I love that I don''t have to worry about plastic, recalled water, bacteria or the environmental impact of the plastic bottles or the process in which the water is collected :) And it tastes wonderful! I recommend it to everyone I know.

I ordered the Big Berkey system and received the British Berkefeld. After calling the shipper, I was assured that the units were virtually identical and that the situation in Haiti had impacted the available units. Since I live in an area where the water is fluoridated, my goal was to rectify the situation. I''ve read enough about fluoride to know it is quite harmful and it is not necessary for the human body. Relative to the use of the unit itself, I have been extremely pleased with the quality of the water and I recommend it for anyone who desires safe, clean-tasting water.Berkey Light Water Filter With 2 Black Filters & 2 Free PF-2 Fluoride Filters

I actually don''t have the model that is this big, Ihave a smaller one , but the filter elements are the same which is the best part about this. Do your own research and find out that the purification is excellent in these filters. I also have the plastic model, which i like because i can see through it and the base gives it the height to put cups, pans etc. under it , where the stainless does not have that so i found a item that fits underneath. I did not buy the "clear glass tube" so you can see the water level as it is extra cost, and i admit that I have had water over flow onto my counter and floor. Now i am more aware and give it a check. I really love the ''taste" of the water by using these. i live off of city water, so I dont deal with flouride and such, but i do deal e-coli and other natural stream, river ,creek contaminants. No one has ever gotten sick from water and I have used these for more than six years. I think it''s a great investment and will save you from buying bottled water over and over. Be careful when cleaning the filters (dont drop in sink, DONT use bleach) clean with scrubber type sponge (not metal)...anyway, I''m switching to the stainless as i am making a commitment to have less plastic in our family. Hope this helps.

GE FXSVC Dual Stage Drinking Water Filtration System Replacement Filter (VOC) Save 13% Off

GE FXSVC Dual Stage Drinking Water Filtration System Replacement Filter
  • Fits all GE SmartWater dual-stage drinking water filters
  • Also fits other brands of housings that accept 9.75 x 2.5 inch filters
  • i.e. GE GXSV10C, GNSV25CBL, GNSV30CWW, GNSV30CCC, GXSL03C, GNSL05CBL, and Culligan SY-2500
  • Interchangeable with GE FXSLC & Culligan D250 filters

I ordered GE Replacement Water Filter Set as indicated on Amazon''s product description as FXSVC Rev. 2, but the item shiped was an older model (Rev. 1) with a different looking tube. There is one green and one brown tube in the set. The brown-color filter tube looks very different between the older model and the Rev. 2. The Rev. 2''s brown-color tube has solid plastic housing while the Rev. 1''s tube that FilterFast shipped has white filter fabric outside. I understand that the brown-color tube contains charcoal filter to improve water taste. The older model allows water to flow through the surrounding surface of the charcoal tube while the Rev. 2 pushes water through the entire length of the tube, so I am assuming that Rev. 2''s method is more effective as water get pushed through more charcoal contents. Other than that the product looks and works all right.

I had the tap water tested as well as the water being filtered by the GE FXSVC by an outside testing laboratory. The tap water was found to have 7 ppm (parts per million)of lead and the filtered water tested had none.

I installed this filter several years ago and it has been fantastic. The water where we live is very hard and doesn''t taste good. This system has solved the problem.

Want GE FXSVC Dual Stage Drinking Water Filtration System Replacement Filter (VOC) Discount?

Have used this filter for a five gallon bottled water bottle for 4-5 yrs. I am on a well and donot have my water tested on a regular basis.

I use a $15.00 water tester that shows the filtered water slightly better than the tap water.

There is a red slime that comes from the primary filter of the "FXSVC" filter that remained in the canister, the "FXSLC" dubbed as the best fliter from GE had the same but only when it was new.

When I change filters, I cut the primary apart with a hack saw and discovered there was a red paper wrap. That is probably where the red slime looking stuff came from. Food for thought: is there a reason GE uses the red paper in the filters, other than for filtration?

At any rate, I continue to use the filtration unit and feel better about my drinking water because of it.

When it comes time to replace your filters you can buy them for about 1/2 of what Home Depot charges, on line. Last I used was Filters Fast, they seem to be a good company to order from.

I bought these as replacement filters for my GE under sink filtration unit. It was an easy direct swap the only downside is these filters appear to be much more restrictive than my last filters so the rate of flow is much slower. Will buy again.

Aprilaire #45 Water Panel Evaporator Save 23% Off

Aprilaire #45 Water Panel Evaporator, 10-PackAbout 10 years ago I replaced the old furnace humdifier with Aprilaire automatic humidifier that doesn''t waste water. It is combined with these evaporator panels and is an excellent design. Never has any water gone to waste, and these panels last for as long as they can stand up to the mineral content in your water, because that is the only thing that will ever cause them to be inoperable. If you have high lime and calcium in your water, then these panels will eventually fail, but replacing the media is very easy. A 10-pack is probably a 10 year supply in my experience.

The humidifier allows for manual humidity control or it has an automatic feature that is based upon exterior temperature. I prefer to control mine manually so that I have more granular control over interior humidity. I prefer that so that I can adjust according to how much condensation exists on the interior of windows during winter, and to adjust according to dry eye from wearing contacts. I have no doubt that it works just fine in automatic mode. The manual mode is a nice feature to have for those that prefer more granular control.

Cuisinart SS-300 Single Serve Brewing System Save 51% Off

Cuisinart SS-300 Single Serve Brewing System, Silver - Powered by KeurigI had wanted a Keurig coffee maker, but was not thrilled with the quality of the ''Keurig'' brand models available. They seem cheap, mostly made of plastic.

I was pleased to see that Keurig had made the K-cup design available for other manufacturers. Having trust in Cuisinart''s quality owning two other great appliances, i figured this compact model would be perfect. Unfortunately, the SS-300 was not available in stores when I purchased it from Amazon, so I was only able to try out the SS-700, the larger, more expensive model, in a local store. The build of the SS-700 is mostly metal and sturdy. Although the two models look like the same build quality in photos, sadly, the SS-300 is made of cheap plastic, just like the Keurig brand models I have seen.

I have used it to make several cups of coffee and it works perfectly. All of the features make it the best model for my 5 cups a week consumption. Although the plastic is BPA free, it is still plastic.

4 stars were given because I had compared it to the SS-700. Perhaps if I had never seen the larger, more durable model, I would be thrilled with this one. I thought the difference in price reflected the lack of a digital display and water reservoir, not the quality of the components.

UPDATE-

I have now made over 12 cups of coffee with this machine. So far so good!

The coffee is consitantly good. Cleaning the SS-300 is so easy. I do not regret this purchas at all and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a single serving coffee maker.

I wanted the convenience of the K-Cups but have friends who have had bad experiences with the Keurig model coffee makers. Decided on the Cuisinart and it worked great for 3 cups. Now it will not recognize that I have filled it with water and it will not brew. Since it is only 2 weeks old Cuisinart is waving their shipping fee and a new one is on the way.

Update

Looking more at the unit I noticed when I opened the filter compartment for the charcoal water filter, the entire plastic assembly melted down into boiler. Somehow the heating element ran with no water and melted everything. Since this is a fire hazard I am lowering my rating to one star.

I originally had the very first Keurig single serve and although it made a decent cup of coffee my husband thought it was a bit weak. Since we use it only for ourselves we didnt need such a big resevoir for water. When Cuisinart came out with the small single server we thought we should give it a try and donated the big Keurig to a friend. My husband said it made much better coffee than the original keurig and it takes up alot less space on the counter. So far we are very happy with the item. Glad we bought it.

Browsing the reviews, I have to say that some seem not to have read the instructions before use. The manner in which the machine is set up and the order in which you are to do stuff is not entirely intuitive, so best to carefully read the instructions first. I saw one review from a person who plainly was opening the charcoal filter holder and trying to pour the water down in there, then complaining that it was hard to open and close for each cup. Well...yeah. So, Step One is read the instructions; the thing is probably more likely to work properly if you do.

That said, this is a nice light-duty unit. I personally like the fact that you pour the water in for each cup. I don''t use the charcoal filter as I have filtered water at my sink. I put as much water as I want to the level that I want on my mug, then just open the flip-top and pour it in. I do check that the amount is between 6 and 10 ounces using the gauge, but that''s all I use the gauge for. Family members and visitors do the same, and then you know right up front how much liquid is going to come out and to what level in your cup.

To my mind, the unit is attractive, solid, and easy to operate. It has a smaller footprint that works well for us. It heats the water as hot as I would ever want my hot beverage to come out. It takes less than two minutes to heat the water.

Since Christmas, it has stood up to some significant use. A family member was recovering from an injury, so nurses, trainers, friends and family members were all trooping through the house and were offered hot beverages. We have burned through probably 30 cups of addictive Dunkin'' Donuts hot chocolate, 28 cups of Twinings Green Tea (that I bought on Amazon), 28 cups of Dunkin Donuts original coffee, and most of the 35-cup sampler that I bought here on Amazon, as well as the nice little selection of coffees that came in the box with the unit. We just wipe it off and it keeps going.

I am an avid coffee drinker. We own a 12 cup coffee maker that we have had for years so I hoped this Cuisinart single serve would be as good -it far exceeded my hopes!

Let me tell you what I have been through these past 2 week after buying and returning 3 others. I wanted a Keurig because "everybody else has one". I wanted one that didn''t have a water reservoir because of the fact algae builds in standing water very quickly. I bought and tried the Keurig single serve. Every cup had a horrible taste like ''plastic''? I cannot describe how awful it was. I tried to clean out the reservoir where the water touches but that didnt work. The chemicals in the plastic housing that the hot water flows through must leach into the water masking even my most favorite coffee. RETURNED! I then bought the Hamilton Beach Scoop. A great pot--looked good, no taste from plastic. It was cool the way you fill the scoop and the hot water runs through this. It has a setting for regular and a setting for bold. When you use the bold, the water stays in the scoop for a longer time and flows slower and creates a Mess because it backs up into the top that covers the scoop. So you have to clean out the top, the scoop, the filter container, yadda yadda yadda. Horrible!!! I never could get the strength right even with the regular setting. I really tried to like this one because it was a very pretty well made brewer. RETURNED!!

Went to Bed Bath and Beyond and ordered this Cuisinart single-serve because they do not stock these single serve brewers. I have a 12-cup Cuisinart that I have used for the past several years. Never a problem. Awesome coffee. Well Cuisinart didn''t let me down again. I am so excited! Finally finally a great brewed cup of coffee. It took about 20 minutes of preparation to soak the filter and then run 10 ounce of water through. Then i put a Timothy''s K-cup decaf coffee in, poured in 10 ounces of water and ....OMG the best cup of coffee I have ever had. Then I tried using my own favorite coffee in the EZ-cup that I purchased from Amazon based on recommendations. The top of this cup fits securely, so as the water flows through you get a wonderful cup of coffee without a mess overflowing from the top. Finally my search is over!!!!

Although the housing of this coffee brewer has alot of cheaper ''plastic''. It still looks wonderful and the way it brews a cup of coffee is not compromised. Get one of these coffee brewers--you will not be disappointed. I will update in the future after I have used it for a while.

  • Dishwasher and Microwave safe, you can even freeze the bottle, just remove filter
  • The World''s easiest water bottle to clean, just remove top and bottom cap and filter
  • 100-Percent USA Made

I wanted a bottle to improve the taste of the tapwater at work for drinking at my desk. I bought the Nubo, Hydros and Oko bottles. Of the three, the Nubo was the best.

The Oko is quite heavy (top heavy, in fact, because the bottle itself is thin plastic but the filter is heavy) and not particularly attractive. It improved the flavor of the water nicely, but it requires squeezing or sucking fairly hard to get the water. Maybe the heavy-duty filter is better for when the water contains harmful bacteria, but for desk drinking it''s not the one.

The Hydros bottle is nicer looking, although the product I received was different from the product pictured on the website and in the video. You don''t screw the top on after filling the way the video makes it look you have to palm it on while preventing the rest of the top apparatus from turning, which is difficult and fussy. The side-fill doesn''t work great it needs to be on a particular angle to flow quickly enough to not have to stop and start. The flow while filling has to be quite slow even when filling from the top. The taste of the water was least improved of all three. The lid doesn''t seal very well you could not throw the bottle in a bag and be confident it won''t leak. I like the social welfare mission of the company but the bottle''s just okay.

The Nubo is a bit less attractive than the Hydros but more attractive than the Oko. It has the quickest fill and the most improved taste. Both caps screw on securely and haven''t leaked yet. It''s easy to fill and easy to drink from. Also the least expensive of the three. Highly recommended!

This rating is just for the "Bottle". I have to say the bottle do it''s job as described. It is a replacement of an ordinary water bottle, but made of hard plastic which will not break as other might when you squeeze it. I like the way that you do not have to to suck the water throughout the filter, and Yes, you can put Ice in it, as a previous comments said. I did have the problem with the filter, I shake it it as the instructions said and still did nothing, then what I did was to soak the filter in water for some minutes, as you do with other filters and then it worked perfectly. So far. I''m happy with the Nubo bottle.

I bought a Nubo bottle several weeks ago with a few doubts in mind, but after using it for a little over 3 weeks, I have to say I''m glad I took the chance with this one. I drink water like it''s going out of style, so everyone that knows me personally has always seen me with at least 2 or 3 bottles of water. Since tap water has become a bit hard for me to stomach these past couple of years, bottled water or filtered water from the fridge door were the only sources I''d drink from. This bottle makes it incredibly easy on me now that I don''t have to worry about losing backpack or cooler space. It makes most water from the fountain or the tap taste a lot better than straight from the faucet. (I can''t say that all of the water will taste better, since I did have one instance with water from a particular state that tasted odd no matter what... but the bottle still made it easier for me to stomach without the "extra" stuff from the pipelines.)

My only true complaint is that the Nubo bottle holds a few ounces less than a normal bottle of water due to the filter, and I do kind of wish they had other larger sizes available for H2O guzzlers like myself. Other than that, filling it up is very simple, and drinking out of it is so much better than the filter bottles I''ve dealt with in the past. Highly recommend this for those picky about the taste of water and don''t like fighting with filter straws.

Like the fact that the water is getting filterd as it enters the bottle. However, it doesn''t hold much water, since the filter takes up a couple of inches in the bottom. Filling from a water fountain takes longer since the angle you have to hold it at causes the water to run out before it enters the bottle. Doesn''t leak unless the bottom isn''t on correctly.

I like this product and its unique design. Filling it from the bottom allows me to put ice in it as well as not have to squeeze to drink the water! I love that part! My only complaint...I received a new filter from the company and it didn''t want to filter well... the water moved very slowly from the filter, which made filling it very slow. The company offered to replace it, but by that time, I stopped using it and starting using another bottle. I do recommend this bottle... much better than the squeeze-to-drink type.

Conair Extreme Hand Held Fabric Steamer with Dual HeatFirst I bought the more expensive Shark steamer; bad choice it''s way too heavy to hold for any length of time and it does take a long time to heat and really doesn''t get wrinkles out. This Conair steamer is absolutely everything that Shark isn''t. It''s easy to handle, not heavy, gets hot right away really hot. Has two settings low and high heat; both work great for levis or silk blouses. I recommend this steamer very highly. One of the best purchases I have made in awhile.

I just got this in the mail today and put it right to work. I needed to unload my travel bag and I had a couple of cotton polo men''s shirts that were very wrinkled. They looked kinda like if you took a piece of tin foil and crinkled it up and tried to flatten it out again. I used the mesh screen attachment. I filled it up with water and with ten minutes, on high, I had turned 4 shirts wrinkle free. I just hung them up and made about 2 passes along the front and back. In order to speed up the process even more I''m going to get an oven mitt or something so that I can use both hands.

Only bad part is that it is kinda big(not worth a deduction). About the size of a full size hair dryer. It might take up some room in your suit case but I won''t be traveling without mine.

For the price it was a good deal @ 36 shipped with tax. I was going to spend much more but the reviews were very mixed. I figured I would take a chance on this with only 2 reviews but I''m satisfied.

My little travel steamer finally bit the dust after 15 years of use. I had just bought some heavy blackout drapes, and they badly needed the package folds steamed out, so I ordered this Conair. I was quite pleased upon receipt. It was well-packaged, included good instructions, easy to fill and holds a decent amount of water, and heats quickly. On the higher setting, it took out those deep folds very nicely with one water fill-up per panel. My worry was that, full of water, it might be too heavy for my arthritic wrists to hold long enough to steam press the folds out of that thick material, but the weight of the unit seems quite well-balanced and I didn''t have any trouble. Well worth the money!

Cuisinart DCC-1000BK Filter Brew 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Save 50% Off

Cuisinart DCC-1000BK Filter Brew 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, BlackI just purchased this unit for about 60 bucks to replace a white Kitchenaid unit that burned out.Since the white unit developed a lot of permanent stains I got a black one, problem solved. O.K. here is what is good about this coffeemaker.IT MAKES GREAT FULL BODIED COFFEE.Programing the features was easy for me, a guy that can''t navigate the menu of my phones.I like the fact that I can program my own shutoff duration. The coffee comes out very hot but not scalding. It also stays hot without tasting bitter. This is the first coffeemaker I have owned that the brew interupt feature works without dripping. This is due to a very strong spring on the basket but more on this later. It is also the first unit I have had that does not get coffee spooge all over the water spout and other parts. But in truth I rarely make more than 8 cups at a time. Lastly the carafe does not drip when you pour. Now for my complaints. Due to the afore mentioned spring you need two hands to remove and replace the carafe. Big deal. The reservoir is a little hard to fill due to a small opening. Also to get the last ounce of water out of the carafe you must turn it almost compleatly over.Dropping the basket in the unit is a little confusing the first few times. This unit is not for people with certain handicaps. Please keep in mind that this unit is only a week old as of this writing. However at this time I will say that this is the best coffeemaker I have ever owned.I expect that the brew interupt will fail eventualy,But I hardly ever use it so no prob.for me. The over all construction appears to be very solid so maybe this one will last more than the usual 2-1/2 years of it predecessors.

The Cuisinart DCC-1000 bears the brand name of Cuisinart which is supposed to instill confidence in the quality of the product. Unfortunately, this particular Cuisinart product is middle-of-the-road at best. Why? See the strengths and weaknesses below.

Strengths:

1) Auto shut-off Very convenient for those of us who can never bring themselves to shut the coffeemaker off. For the reviewer who had difficulty trying to enable the auto-off feature, set the dial to "Auto-Off" and then set the allotted time using the "hr" and "min" buttons.

2) Programmable Very handy for having fresh brewed coffee to greet you at work or home.

3) Taste The coffeemaker plus the charcoal filter produces a fine tasting cup of joe.

Weaknesses:

1) Filling the coffemaker THIS is a big deficiency. The mechanics for filling the coffeemaker using the carafe (as opposed to using a sink-based vegetable sprayer for example) are poor. The placement of the lid combined with the narrowness of the water resevoir makes for a difficult pour. Many times, I will end up with water either still in the carafe, in the cone or else, spilled on the floor.

2) The use of cone filters Generally, it''s personal preference whether one likes cone filters or basket filters for the automatic drip coffeemaker and my stated preference is for the basket filter. However, even with that bias revealed, the Cuisinart still presents difficulty. Sometimes, the cone filter will bend under the pressure of the sprayed water blocking filitration to the coffee grinds and what you will end up with is filtered water. This proves exceedingly annoying.

Make no mistakes, even with the cone filter, this product could have achieved a 5 star rating if it were not for the clumsy designs of the water resevoir and the difficulties in filling it. If you have a vegetable sprayer or are a proficient master at pouring from the resevoir, then I recommend buying this Cuisinart. If you are like me and either have this coffemaker at work or if you are at home with no vegetable sprayer and are not proficient in the carafe pour, then I would suggest another product.

Buy Cuisinart DCC-1000BK Filter Brew 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Now

I purchased this Cuisinart coffemaker in Oct. 2001 to replace a KitchenAid (which lasted just over a year before it died) and haven''t had the problems that some of the reviewers have noted such as difficulty pouring water in the tank, the pause feature dripping (which I seldom use, anyway because taking a cup out before the entire pot brews makes the remaining coffee more weak), or difficulty with removing & returning the carafe to the hot plate. Sounds like a totally different product! The coffee temperature is adequately hot and coffee is full-bodied (I like my coffee strong & robust, but not bitter). I got the black color which looks great and doesn''t show stains--I avoid white because I''ve had several brands which all yellowed and looked bad after several usings in that color. Overall, this has been a good coffeemaker for me!

I''ve had this coffee maker for about 9 months. It makes coffee just fine for the first several weeks. The problem is the water reservoir and the drip/filter/basket assembly are not separated. This is a problem with all the Cuisinart coffee makers sharing this basic design. I grind my own beans or use Starbucks pre-ground or similar fine-ground coffees. Coffee grounds and dust get into the water reservoir, and coffee scum builds up in the reservoir and all around the drip mechanism and area under the lift-up top. There are lots of small crevices and corners where the scum accumulates, and it is not possible to take the unit apart and clean thoroughly. Rag wiping just seems to push coffee grounds back into holes in the drip mechanism. Coffee maker cleaners like Dip-It can be used to clean the water path, but the machine is still visibly dirty inside...really dirty. I''ve had Braun, Krupps and Starbucks Barista Aroma Grande machines. Never see one with this much of a coffee dirt problem. I think eventually coffee residue of any kind in the reservoir builds up on the heating element, taints the flavor of coffee, slows the brew process and eventually gums up and ruins the heating element. Don''t buy this coffee maker.

I''ve had this for a while now. I use it a lot. One of the plastic fittings is starting to fall apart. It gets moved around a lot, and it is plastic. Will have to see what it costs for a new fitting. Hopefully not much.

Wastes more water than desirable. Tried it at low pressure and near maximum. Wastes about the same ratio no matter the pressure. Was thinking of setting up a pump and making it recirculate the waste water to reduce waste. Don''t want to spend that kind of money with water prices where they are at.

The water I am filtering is from the local river. It barely meets federal standards, sometimes doesn''t, for contaminants. That could be affecting my filters ability.

ROTHO Twin TT Water-Filtration HEPA Canister Vacuum Cleaner

ROTHO Twin TT Water-Filtration HEPA Canister Vacuum Cleaner by Robert Thomas LPI just love this vacuum. My cleaning woman loves it, too. At the beginning I thought I made a mistake because it takes some reading to understand how it works. However, if one takes the time, this machine it''s incredible. the first thing I noticed was the clean odor when vacuuming. I don''t have to put any kind of deodorant or pellets in the bag. Secondly, as you vacuum longer with it, the amount of soil in the container dimishes and now it takes about an hour of vacuuming before we have to change the water. We have tested it on rugs, upholstery and windows, and once you get to know how it works, it''s really good. I am very happy with my ROTHO Twin TT and as much as I love my Miele, this one has become the queen, in my house.

I''ll start with the cons. It IS heavy and a bit awkward to use. It doesn''t "follow" well and the hose kinks easily. The cord could be longer too. It''s pricey and I''m not sure I can buy any parts or filters locally so most likely I''ll have to shop online for that. Now for the pros. It really does clean extremely well. I''ve purchased a Kirby and a Dyson in the past and this little machine has them both beat by a mile. It''s amazing how well this picks up the dirt and pet hair. Yes, its gross when you clean it and see what was in your carpet but I don''t find dealing with it that bad. I dump the contents outside and the ''solid'' gunk I wipe out with a paper towel and rinse the rest of the parts under the faucet. It started to get a bit of a smell so I washed the hepa filter just with water and a brush. It''s not like new but its a big improvement and should extend the life of it until I need to buy a replacement filter. Switching to the ''wet'' method of cleaning is also a bit cumbersome but I''ve used it on carpet and on hard floors and it works pretty well. I probably would be happy with a Rainbow machine also but I chose this one and I''m happy with it.

I just love this vacuum, it makes our home so clean and shiny. That''s amazing. You can see youself as in the mirrow when you look at the floor. I recoommend this vacuum cause it''s really powerful and easy to operate. Of course you need to clean it after each use, but it doesn''t take to long. I think you''ll love it.

I have owned the Rotho Twin tt with all the accessory''s for about five years and paid $1200. I should have returned it immediately.

If your house is starting out nearly spotless and without pets than this vacuum would be ok for you. However if there is dirt and pet fur on your floor this thing clogs up after vacuuming one small room. So to keep it operating properly you have to keep emptying, rising, and refilling the tank (which is a bucket with odd angles that requires a toothbrush to clean out the corners) maybe 3 or 4 times just to vacuum through the house once. I dump the tank in the yard and use the hose on it, later I pick up the dried fur ball laying on the grass . If this bucket was to break I don''t even know if replacements are available.

Then there are filters that are a pain to rinse and clean. The site I purchased this vacuum from left the impression there were no filters that needed to be replaced and they didn''t offer them. Well there are. Five years ago a set cost about $35, so I purchased five of them from another site. I am down to one set left, so I go online to purchase more and they are $50 each. I notice they aren''t even available through Amazon.

Also where the hose connects to the vacuum must be pulled apart and cleaned once in awhile.

I have used the upholstery and carpet shampooer attachments a few times, these are ok.

My mother has had a Rainbow vacuum for 26 years, with no complaints. I wish I had put out the extra money and purchased one.

Despite all these complaints the Rotho vacuum has amazing suction and will get carpets really clean. And if you keep the tank and filters cleaned the exhaust air is very fresh.

I bought a Rotho Twin TT about a month ago and its the best thing ever. I have mostly hard surfaces and it does a great job on my tile and hardwood. I couldnt believe how bad my other vacuum was performing until I saw the dirt that this thing picked up. No gross bags to throw out either. Its worth the money and comes with a great warranty.

KitchenAid KCM5WFP Universal Water Filter Pods

KitchenAid KCM5WFP Universal Water Filter PodsAt first, I was dissappointed that seemingly the filter housing/water level measure was no longer available and then found out it came apart and all I had to do was replace the filter. The coffee tasted noticeably better once the filter was changed. This was a cost efficient alternative and now I don''t need to buy a new coffee maker.

I think these work in the very early models of Kitchen-Aid coffee makers because I can''t find them anywhere. I was pleasantly surprised to find them on Amazon of all places.

Not much to review, they make the coffee taste "clearer" by filtering the water. If they need to be changed you can taste the difference.

Good shipping, price and service. Thanks.

Morton Whole Home Water Filtration System

Morton Whole Home Water Filtration SystemTotally mislead by Morton''s description which never warns that this product only works as a taste an odor filter for CLEAR water....anything else and it will plug up the tiny screens and orifices, reduce your water pressure to unsatisfactory levels, and require horrible maintenance to restore it that isn''t worth it in the end. I lost $600 on this journey, and went back to changing $2 paper filters once/month in a standard whole house canister water filter system. Shame on Morton for their horrible customer service as well. They claim you would never have to change filters again...who wouldn''t want that? they never admitted their deception.

I have one of these in our cabin in TN. It takes out every tiny particle of mud, well casing rust and all other particles. I had to reset it to re-charge longer and more often as the water pressure would fall every time it got full, but that''s the same with any type of filter. Perhaps that was the problem with the other reviewer. These are factory set to re-charge every 14 days for three minutes. I set mine to re-charge every five days for six minutes. It now works like a charm!

3.2 Gallon Storage Tank

3.2 Gallon Storage Tank w/ Ball ValveMy inquiry to Purenex:

3 months ago I ordered a water storage tank from you. Last week the bladder in the tank ruptured, flooding my RO system with air. I am hoping that this item is still covered under warranty since it has failed after such a short time. Please advise me as to how to go about getting a replacement.

Their reply:

We totally understand your frustration, but nothing we can do about that, warranty covers only those equipment what was installed by our technicians.

Thank you,

Purenex

Replaced my old tank that lasted over 5 years. This one failed in 5 months! Purenex only warrants in their technician installs. I guess you get what you pay for.

Bought the replacement tank in July 2011. The bladder of the tank broke after 5 months of use. I would not recommend this tank. Waste of time and money.

Want 3.2 Gallon Storage Tank Discount?

The description clearly states "w/ Ball Valve" and was the reason I chose this one over other tanks/sellers. As it turns out, there was NO Ball Valve on the tank or in the packaging. I was so desperate to get my Reverse Osmosis system back in action that I installed the new tank without it. The first picture Amazon shows of this tank is correct (NO BALL VALVE). Guess I will give Purenex a miss next time.

Culligan US-EZ-4 EZ-Change Level-4 Under-Sink Drinking Water System Save 44% Off

Culligan US-EZ-4 EZ-Change Level-4 Under-Sink Drinking Water System
  • Reduces bad taste and odor, Chlorine taste and odor, sediment, lead and cysts. as Cryptosporidium and Giardia, Mercury, Turbidity, Particulate Class I, VOC''s, MTBE and Chloramines
  • Installs under sink for instant drinking water filtration
  • Quick-connect fittings with double water shut off
  • 500-Gallon capacity filter or 6 months
  • NSF Certified

The Culligan 2650 was easy to install; I installed it within 20 minutes, provided the hole on my sink was already there for the faucet. The instructions walked me through everything, even have detailed instructions via pictures for the lazy reader. Comes with an ergonomic long reach faucet. The new design on the lead free faucet looks almost like the ones they have in Lowe''s for $50. Filter unit warnes user with audible beeps and LED lights to indicate when filter needs changing (uses a 9V battery, included). So far, this is the only unit that I know that removes MTBE''s, VOC''s, and more at a low cost of $32 per filter cartridge replacement set (500 gallon filter life, Pentek brand name at filterpros.com). I avoided Lowe''s and Home Depot water filters b/c they use proprietary filters, forcing consumer to buy expensive filter cartridges. All other pressure fed water filters I know use $40+ filter cartridges (i.e. Aquasana). I switched to the under sink filter b/c my Pur faucet head filter keeps leaking, and I got sick of replacing them after the third time. I get filtered water at less than $0.07/gal, and I get great tasting water in an instant; it fits my needs perfectly.

We bought this after wanting to get away from bottled water which is expensive and not environmentally friendly. Unfortunately, the local water is less than desirable (terrible taste). The reviews here tell the tale already it''s easy to install and it''s also easy to change out filters (and you can choose the one you want as you see there are many levels of filters for the system). Again, the system was easy to install but the fixture is horrible. It''s plastic so while trying to install on the sink area the base of the plastic broke from the fixture itself. Not cool. To improvise I put it back together with super glue but this is obviously not recommended I did it because I didn''t want to undo what I already started. I''ve already replaced it with a Watts fixture which is cheap but is all metal and it''s working much better and I''m not worrying about someone with heavy hands breaking it off and having water going everywhere. The system now is working well and the water it''s delivering is great. Looking forward to using this for a long while.

After 11 months of service the plastic stem of the faucet broke and flooded my kitchen cabinet and the basement wall. I have yet to see the warranty response, however I highly recommend a Watts Premier Chrome Non Air-Gap Faucet to install from the start. Otherwise, filters are cheap, the water quality is good. But Culligan going for a one or two dollar saving using plastic faucet part under strain vs. the liability of flooding a house demonstrates very bad judgment from Culligan.

Want Culligan US-EZ-4 EZ-Change Level-4 Under-Sink Drinking Water System Discount?

Stay away from this item. The connector for the sink is made of thin, weak plastic which was broken upon arrival. Repeated calls to Culligan gains a ''we will call you back tomorrow'' and they never do.

Looks great, doesn''t it? Great filtration.. Then you have the faucet. A piece that does all the work manipulating the water on and off. Sounds easy.... and it is. Except when they cheap out and make the stem that holds the faucest to the sink out of plastic. It will snap off with just finger tightening at its weakest point. That is what happened to mine. I had to buy one from a home center (with a brass stem) and finish the installation. Too bad, really. It could be great...

PUR Faucet Mount Classic Clear Filter Replacement

PUR Faucet Mount Classic Clear Filter ReplacementHave been very happy with my Pur faucet mount system for a few years now. Great tasting tap water, and easy to use. Previously I bought these filters in bulk, but have cut back to buying 1 or 2 at a time. Normally I have no problem ordering via Amazon from 3rd party sellers, but sorry to say, this experience has been horrid. Arrived damaged, yet to return it I was required to pay return postage. When I refused, BDD didn''t even offer a refund and wrote nonsense on my review of their "store".

easy to attach to faucet, water is clear and tastes good. very good product worth the money will recommend to others

When our apartment was renovated this last year the installation of beautiful new Moen faucets in our kitchen rendered our old and much used top-of-sink filter useless. The replacement of it with an under-the-sink version from Multi-pure was a very expensive option. We looked for another solution. As I ALWAYS do these days I checked Amazon first and found this system for about half the price of the Multi-pure. As luck would have it a friend had recently purchased one of these reverse osmosis systems and was raving bout it. The other reviews here on Amazon were largely raves as well so I ordered one.

Several of the Amazon reviewers mentioned that they had installed it easily. I can''t really speak to this as the maintenance kid in our building was happy to install it for us. He discovered and it bears mentioning that we needed an adapter in order to install it as we have a garbage disposal unit. It was easily obtainable from Amazon and was in hand whithin a couple of days. It was then a matter of about a half an hour for our maintenance person Kevin to install the system.

Our building is older and the water had tested positive for a number of contaminants including lead and of course chlorine, which we could smell. Subsequent testing showed DRAMATIC reductions in all contaminants and we no longer smell chlorine. Thanks Amazon! AND Kevin!

These are very easy to install and 1/2 the price of other name brand manufactures. Just put a towel under the unit to catch a few drops of water and twist. Put the new one on and you are set. None of the flushing of the tank and finding bleach to clean system.
