As far as I know it works great. I haven''t tested our water so I can''t be certain. I was irritated that I had to have it shipped to Ohio to my daughter who then shipped it to me as they won''t deliver to Alaska. (Last time I looked, Alaska is part of the United States!) After it cost me double the shipping, there were no instructions. My husband, who isn''t exactly the handy-ist of all people, was able to install it after a discussion as to which filter should be filtering first. He still has one leak but I think it may be because a water line wasn''t cut perfectly straight (?). It fits nicely under our sink and attaches to the side of the cabinet. The water flow is good.

Lastly the carafe does not drip when you pour. Now for my complaints. Due to the afore mentioned spring you need two hands to remove and replace the carafe. Big deal. The reservoir is a little hard to fill due to a small opening.Also to get the last ounce of water out of the carafe you must turn it almost compleatly over.Dropping the basket in the unit is a little confusing the first few times. This unit is not for people with certain handicaps.Please keep in mind that this unit is only a week old as of this writing. However at this time I will say that this is the best coffeemaker I have ever owned.I expect that the brew interupt will fail eventualy,But I hardly ever use it so no prob.for me. I''ve had this coffee maker for about 9 months. It makes coffee just fine for the first several weeks. The problem is the water reservoir and the drip/filter/basket assembly are not separated. This is a problem with all the Cuisinart coffee makers sharing this basic design. I grind my own beans or use Starbucks pre-ground or similar fine-ground coffees. Coffee grounds and dust get into the water reservoir, and coffee scum builds up in the reservoir and all around the drip mechanism and area under the lift-up top. There are lots of small crevices and corners where the scum accumulates, and it is not possible to take the unit apart and clean thoroughly. Rag wiping just seems to push coffee grounds back into holes in the drip mechanism. Coffee maker cleaners like Dip-It can be used to clean the water path, but the machine is still visibly dirty inside...really dirty. I''ve had Braun, Krupps and Starbucks Barista Aroma Grande machines. Never see one with this much of a coffee dirt problem. I think eventually coffee residue of any kind in the reservoir builds up on the heating element, taints the flavor of coffee, slows the brew process and eventually gums up and ruins the heating element. As a previous poster noted, Amana does not acknowledge the existence of these rebadged Haier units on its site. Unfortunately, Haier also does not seem to acknowledge them, making support put-near impossible. The a/c unit does require a small window (or a large one largely blocked off) which can take some work if your windows are not the right size, but that''s true of any unit like these. It is a very handy unit, without the need to empty buckets. It is also fairly noisy, with odd controls that require the remote. It was great the first year we had it, less so the second despite careful storage. You''d probably do better with a domestic-production (or European, or Japanese) unit if you can find one.

I have the one with 9000BTU. I bought this air conditioner in the beginning of the summer on the recommendation of a friend / and its official. It works GREAT! Kept me cool with no mess to clean up. I had read some reviews on this before getting and thought it might do better than an at home remedy to get rid of some bad scum and hard water marks in our previously owned dishwasher. It did a decent job but I still had to run a few cycles through with vinegar and bleach to get stains out. For convience and basic upkeep people would probably like this just to run through their dishwasher once or twice a year, but bleach would probably work just as well.

Recieved the unit well before time promised. Although it was packed well the input fitting on the first filter housing got broken, probably because the box looked like it was dropped on its side. No problem though as it is a threaded 90 and jambing a 10" flat blade screw driver into it got ot out. If this happens to you make sure to use 3 wraps of pipe tape on the new one. And guess what! You get 2 spares in the package. The instructions did not mention it but the little blue 3/4 ring on the fittings has a raised edge so it may be removed and the spider lock can be released so the tubing can be removed and the fittings reused. You also get 3 spares just in case.

The installation is straight forward, and a bit easier since they''re shorter than the Everpure H-1200. First, the good. The Berkey water filter system works without electricity, is one of the most thorough filters on the market, and produces great tasting water. I don''t regret purchasing this item, however, I do have some gripes. For one thing, the instructions that come with the filter are REEE-diculous. For almost $300, I would expect a better set of instructions, one that was produced for my exact product, not a general sort of guide with alot of if''s, and''s and but''s concerning different optional pieces. Also, the text and illustrations looked like they were written and drawn by a fifth grader... and not a particularly talented one. Note to other purchasers: all the filters need to be flushed out with tap water using the spongy little donut thingie to keep you from spraying water off the sides of the spigot. And if you get the flouride filters, only turn them eight times when attaching or you might damage them. Also, I thought the plastic was a bit flimsy, especially for the price. I was expecting something a little more solid. On the plus side, the plastic has no BPA''s in it, which is a plus for the fellas, because BPA''s are converted into estrogen in the body... not good for boys. At the end of the day, it does produce some great tasting water, and I guess that''s all that matters. We live in town and our local water supply had so much residual chlorine in it that it got to the point I wouldn''t drink water at the end of the day. I''ve had the Berkey light for a few months now and overall, I''m happy with it. I bought it with the intention of using it to filter out flouride or purify water in the event of an emergency. Unfortunately for my reviews, I tend to point out the things I don''t like about things. First of all, this thing is huge. If this is a Berkey light, I shudder to think what size the other ones are. To put it simply, this will not fit on most kitchen counters as it''s easily three feet tall. Next, and probably the biggest complaint is build quality. You can tell most of the technology for the Berkey light was put into the filters. The design of the unit itself is cheap in my opinion. Not only that, but I discovered the unit will leak if you leave water in the top reservoir. While this isn''t a major problem for me, it may be for some. Basically, you have to wait until the bottom unit empties out of water until you fill the top up with water. Considering the top unit holds 2.5 gallons of water, you can see how this may be a hassle for some people. Last is the taste of the water itself. I didn''t notice a difference in taste between using the Berkey and a Brita water filter. Despite all of these flaws, I''m still happy with the product however, I would recommend others to spend a few extra dollars and by one of the metal containers. Hopefully that would resolve the issue with the leaks.
I received my Adya clarity yesterday and was very curious to try it, wanted to see the water cloud up and all that. This filter ruined my humidifier which had worked perfectly without it. Here is what happened to me. The humidifier, with filter in place, had been running for a couple of days when I noticed an odd smell upon entering the room. I determined it was coming from the humidifier, so I unplugged it and removed the water tank to take a look. To my shock, the bottom on the humidifier was filled with the amber colored pellets that once were inside the filter. The pellets filled up the area that should have been filled with water. The reservoir had water in it and the unit continued to run, but was overheating because the water wasn''t able to flow. The heat damaged (melted) the nebulizer black ring so that the water just leaks right through the bottom now. I am glad that I found out before it caused a fire. I bought this a week ago @ walmart for a great price! I wanted to get a well made coffee maker and wanted to spend a decent amount for one since my fiance uses them a lot but needed white and there were only 2 white ones to choose from out of many! I got this one since it was a higher price than the other but still was under $20! I have used mellita brown filters for years, and always thought they were the best-until now! For the same price, these are clearly better, at least when used with a Hario filter holder. The latter are more expensive than the plastic mellita holders, but are made from ceramic, glass or resin(chapest) and are quite beautiful in both form and function. The filters fit these perfectly. I read about these filters in The New York Times, in a piece on the best coffee bars in town.

I did not buy my unit from Amazon but I wanted to comment on how much we love the water this product produces. We have nasty tasting tap water and I bought the Santevia model that fits into a water cooler. I can''t vouch for the countertop leakage since I didn''t get that model, thus I give 5 stars. The water that you get is crystal clear and tastes amazing. You can even see the slight cloudiness in the top tank before filtration and the clear, sparkling water in the lower tank after filtration. I bought it for my massage therapy clinic and there was no mention on the website that it takes FOUR HOURS to filter the water, so I was forever filling it up and if I filled the top container too full yet another leak. It might be fine for a family of 2-4 if you don''t want to drink very much water in a day. All the replacement parts are expensive and when you get the unit home and set it up you won''t believe how cheaply made it is.
