Simple Green 50128 Lime Scale Remover Save 30% Off

Simple Green 50128 Lime Scale Remover, 1 Gallon Bottle
  • It''s strong enough to effectively tackle that dreaded cleaning task of removing hard water mineral deposits and it''s mild enough to protect surfaces from the damage that harsher removers can cause
  • Specially formulated to effectively dissolve and remove mineral deposits, hard water stains and soap scum
  • Simple Green Lime Scale Remover is safer to use on porcelain sinks, toilets and tubs, ceramic tile, shower and faucet fixtures, glass shower doors, aluminum, chrome and stainless steel
  • It''s tough enough to take care of long-term scale and scum build-up, yet safe enough to be used on a frequent basis
  • Simple Green Lime Scale Remover has a pleasant wintergreen scent that leaves rooms deodorized and fresh smelling

This does a pretty good job of removing lime scale and soap scum. I will probably purchase it again. One star off because it doesn''t remove ALL the hard water residue. Maybe that''s not fair since I didn''t want something so strong that it would eat through my skin.

BISSELL ProHeat 2X Select Pet Upright Deep Cleaner Save 35% Off

BISSELL ProHeat 2X Select Pet Upright Deep Cleaner, 94003We bought this model at a local retail store last weekend. I had used a different model of the same brand previously (borrowed from in-laws). I have used it once, on my entire living room--a cream colored cheap wall-to-wall carpet laid down about 3 years ago by the previous owners. Probably artificial fibers. Just saying.

The carpet was getting spotty. We have a cat who has hairballs regularly and two four-year-olds. The cream colored carpet was showing spots around the kids computer, both couches, and the high-traffic areas at each doorway. We had some washable-marker marks here and there, and one sticky place. We live in the south so we had red clay marks, too.

I assembled the machine--had to get a long, thin screwdriver from the garage because the kind with the changeable tips is too fat for the holes in the upper handle. Assembly was easy, but I was left with an extra wand that had no home. Ours came with a small, medium, and large unpowered wand plus a powered wand and a crevice tool. At this point I was thinking that all the unpowered wands were kind of redundant.

I filled the machine with hot water and the ''fiber cleansing'' solution my husband picked up because he didn''t realize there were two bottles of solution inside the box. Not a big deal, we''ll use it all, I''m sure. The soap tank was a bit leaky for just a second, so I let it drip til it stopped, then rinsed off the outside.

I grabbed the blue squirt bottle of ''tough stain precleaner'' that came in the box and squirted each little gray, brown, or sticky spot. Didn''t do anything else, just squirted. Gave the gray area near the doors a sort of ''misting'' to get the job started.

I turned the dial on the Bissell to ''normal cleaning'' and started near one door. Wet stroke forward, wet stroke backward, dry stroke forward, dry stroke backward. Had a little trouble with the suction at first, but I later determined this was probably because the machine had tipped while it was on. It makes a pop noise when it loses suction, and you pretty much have to shut the machine off and turn it back on to ''reset''. A few places in the carpet needed an extra going over with the wet/dry strokes to get the spots up.

After just a couple of strokes, the machine started spitting out little ''hairballs'' that were gray--presumably cat hair and carpet fiber wads. I had read about these in the manual and so was not alarmed. I decided to let them go and after the carpet dried I''d get them with the dry vac.

About half-way through the room (13x18, roughly) it was time to dump the dirty water and refill. The water was like diluted hot chocolate in color, and had hairballs in it. Removing and replacing the tank is quite easy. Originally I was thinking I had to lay down the handle to get at the connections, but this is not true--the machine can be standing up and you can still get the water tank out. Not sure about the soap tank, though.

Note that while cleaning, you''re dripping on the back stroke. So you start at one end of the room and work *backwards* to the other end, not forwards. Probably a no-brainer, but there you go. I tried using one of the unpowered wands for a spot under the kids desk, and it did OK but didn''t really wow me. It was nice to have the trigger right there on the wand to be able to squirt soap at the spot, and the wand did fine at pulling the water back out. Didn''t try the powered wand for it--I just went over it again with the big machine and the spot was completely gone. I''ll try the powered wand another time.

Back in action, I finished up the room with no other highlights. I chose not to use the ''rinse'' cycle on the machine at all, I guess I''m testing the anti-resoiling agent in the soap. :) I didn''t really want to spend the time going over every inch of carpet twice.

When finished, I put down a couple of clean towels to walk on since we can''t avoid using the room. The carpet itself was dried within a couple of hours--even the bit at the start where I was having trouble with suction.

Once dry, I have to say the carpet looks great. There might be one or two places where the spots wouldn''t come out--but they have been cleaned at least 3 times now with three different machines and have persisted through all of them. Anyway, I do notice that the carpet nap is starting to look a little worn--it''s cheap carpet. I haven''t been back over it yet with the dry vac to get the hairballs up, that might change the appearance.

Husband said the smell of the soap was pretty much gone once the carpet dried, so it didn''t leave a heavy stink of ''just washed the carpets'' behind. The soap smell was itself reasonably pleasant and not overpowering even when wet.

So on to disassembly and cleaning. Emptying the dirty water was again no big deal. I rinsed out the tank afterward to get the hairballs out and keep it from getting stinky (why leave microban a big job, after all). I left the remaining soap in the soap tank for the next time. Since the shields over the nozzles and brushes are clear, you can see how scummy they get after just one use, so I grabbed my screwdriver again and popped off the clear shields (one screw for the front ''suck'' piece, and two screws each for the side ''edge cleaner'' areas) to rinse them out. The brushes themselves were exposed at that point and I could see the surfaces behind them were scummy but I didn''t feel like removing the brushes so I just wiped with a rag to get the scum out of the places I could reach. At this point the vac is lying on its back in the kitchen, in the way. But one more wipe of the sole plate (where the dirty drips come from) and reapplying screws and shields and it all went back together easily. It took about another five mins or so to clean the machine after use. Then I grabbed a clean rag and the reassembled machine and moved it to its storage home. Since it''s sitting on the carpet, I put the clean rag down first, then the machine on the rag to catch any drips I might have missed.

I am very pleased with how the machine performed. It made a dirty carpet look clean again, which is exactly what I wanted. It was relatively easy to use and clean (might tape a screwdriver to the machine just to have one handy) and it did a great job.

If I were going to improve the machine, I''d make those clear shields use a fastener other than a screw so they could pop off by hand. I''d maybe add one more fastener for that spare wand. I might include a plastic tray to sit the thing on when it''s not in use. I might try to work on that suction pop noise thing to make it clearer that you need to stop and fix something before you squirt more soap down. I might also leave off all the marvelous stickers identifying special features. Not needed, and they get in the way of seeing what the machine is doing. And if I were really working hard to improve, I''d have a ''self propelled'' motor to assist the user to move the machine at the proper speed (slow) and with the proper contact between machine and floor (to improve suction).

I hope the machine will last for the amount of time we intend to keep this carpet. Other reviews make me wonder if my satisfaction will last, since it seems other people have a lot of trouble with their machines, regardless of brand and model. I hope to update this review again later, after a few more uses.

-----edited Nov 30 2009

After using the machine several more times, I am still pleased. It''s kept the carpet looking pretty good, and sometimes I''m able to get up spots using only the warm water without soap. That''s nice. I haven''t used up all the carpet soap that came with the machine (and that we bought by mistake). The cat was quite ill over the summer and kept throwing up all over the carpet, everywhere..and you really can''t tell at all. Likewise the kids have repeatedly gone after the carpet with washable markers and crayons, and those marks are gone as well. Red clay marks gone. There are some shadowy gray areas at the main entrance/exit to the room that the shampooer doesn''t seem to be able to help, I guess the carpet is just showing its age.

I have taped a gallon zip bag to the front of the machine, in which I have the manual and the screwdriver I mentioned earlier. Very handy. I''ve used the powered wand a few times now, and I like that much better than the unpowered ones. Agitation really helps get the gunk out.

I like using this machine better than my Spotlifter now, it does a better job. I do tend to ''save up'' spots so I can run the machine for long enough to make it feel ''worthwhile'', but it even gets up the old spots.

Anyway, I''m pleased with the machine, it does what I wanted it to do. After months, it doesn''t stink (I still rinse it out after each use), and it hasn''t made anything scummy while it sits waiting for the next use.

I''ve owned three of these Bissell models over the past four years.

The first (2006) lasted nearly 18 months and about as many carpet cleanings. Eventually the spray system broke. Since it was out of warranty it was not worth getting fixed.

The second (2008) lasted 13 months. Same story, the spray system broke.

The third, this year, last 4 months and 3 carpet cleanings. Under warranty I called Bissell, got the names of two service centers but when I called them they both told me the same thing: Bissell was not going to warrant the spray system unless it was a manufacturer''s defect.

Being prudent, I called Bissell and went through a 30 trouble shooting session over the phone. It was grueling. Check this gasket, that gasket, take out the spray nozzles, get an old toothbrush and clean the sprayer, try the hose, re-seat the water tank, re-seat the soap tank, try the hose again, chew some gum, run the machine for a minute, walk on the ceiling for 30 seconds, run the machine and press the spray button for two minutes, check the hose without the attachment, spin your partner loop-de-lou, stretch the hose out, look out the window and wait for a police car to go by, run the machine and try the spray....

When I questioned the Bissell customer service person about the two service centers reporting that the spray system was probably not going to be covered by the warranty, because Bissell apparently doesn''t believe spray problems are a manufacturer''s defect, they stuck to the company line: we will fix a manufacturer''s defect. How about a return? That''s up to the store where you purchased it.

Here''s my take: I expect a $200 carpet cleaner to work. I expect to fill it with water, put the tank on, fill it with soap, put the tank on, turn on the switch and clean carpet. My position is that all the trouble shooting Bissell made me go through was just to make up for bad design, bad engineering, poor quality parts, etc. This model of machine has a serious spray system issue. It obviously has several points where it fails and Bissell seems to believe it is your problem not theirs.

Don''t buy this product, the spray system may last 2 years or 4 months, just to get it work is a problem even if the pump is still working, but no matter what Bissell''s support system isn''t there for you.

Luckily for me, a brought this product at Costco and they took it back and gave me a full refund.

Though I''m not sure carpet cleaners from other manufacturer''s are any better, I know the Bissell is not an option.

Personally, I would pay more for a longer lasting quality product if and when I can find one. I think we need to stop sourcing these products from China.

My wife and I have two dogs, a 2 year old child and the cheap white/beige colored carpet that I''m sure everyone has seen before. It came with our house when we bought it. We have been living here for 3 years and you don''t realize how dirty your carpets actually get until you clean them. It came to a point where I could not stand to be in my house because the carpets got so bad. As if the dogs weren''t enough, my daughter spilled liquid bubbles everywhere and dirt attaches to the fluid like a magnet. We bought this bissell a week ago and finally finished using it this past weekend. I''m very happy with the results. My carpet looks A LOT better!!

Pros:

It is very easy to use after you understand how to use it.

If you compare, side by side, the section you cleaned next to an area you didn''t get to yet you will notice that it does a really good job.

The carpets barely get wet and dry incredibly fast for that reason.

Cons:

You really need to understand how to use this before you try for the first time. For example, you need to make sure you change the water before you use it all. If not, it will start to use all of the cleaning solution and it wastes it. The solution isn''t cheap so you want to avoid this from happening. (we did find deals online for larger bottles which make this cost more upfront but over the course of using this it will save you quite a bit)

You go through more solution than I would like and you have to change the water fairly often (it isn''t hard to change though).

If you have pets, their hair will clump up and lay on the carpet after you''ve cleaned it. Honestly, after the carpets dry I walked around and picked up maybe 5 or 6 quarter sized clumbs and that was it. I didn''t even need to vacuum after.

The bottom line is that this machine does a really good job after you learn how to use it well. It has it''s pros and cons but what machine doesnt? If you think it''s going to magically make your carpets brand new again you are naive, but if you are looking for something easy to use, fairly inexpensive to buy and something that makes your carpet look a lot better than they did, then this is the machine to get. My wife and I are certainly happy we bought it!

I did a lot of research before purchasing this item, and I''m very pleased with it. It is easy to use and did a good job getting out some pet stains that my spot cleaning couldn''t get rid of. I''ve already used it 3 or 4 times because I have major dog/child traffic. Using it and even cleaning it up afterwards isn''t much more work than using a vacuum.

After owning this for less than a year during which time the main reservoir broke twice within the first month of ownership and was replaced by Bissell...and after using it a total of four times on an 8''x12'' rug and three times for a 12.5''x16'' room that is 70% covered by furniture the brushes have stopped rotating and the cleaner has simultaneously stopped vacuuming up wastewater.

I cannot use publicly-acceptable language to express how angry and frustrated I am with this garbage. Bissell''s "Customer Support" is a total joke as is the phony "Warranty." If something breaks they demand that YOU prove it was defective and refuse to offer any solution "...unless you can prove that the part in question was the result of defective design." So you have to hire an engineering consulting firm and litigate (at your own expense, of course) to prove they screwed up the design to get warranty support?!?

Looking at the other reviews it almost seems like a class-action lawsuit against Bissell for manufacturing, selling, and continuing to manufacture a device they MUST know to be complete junk would be in order. Amazon should remove this from their sales lists.

201 Replacement Filter for Aprilaire 2200 (2 Pack) Save 39% Off

201 Replacement Filter for Aprilaire 2200
  • This filter fits Aprilaire/Space-Gard Model No. 2200 and 2250.
  • Convenient pack of 2 filters.
  • Replacement for Aprilaire Part #201.
  • This is a MERV 10 accordion filter.
  • Manufactured by American Air Filters.

Here''s the problem with this item you never know what you will get. On a daily basis (and sometimes in the middle of the day), this item changes from being fulfilled by one company to another. This is bad because some of them will send you non-Aprilaire filters, even though the price is about the same. I know this because I ordered it a year ago using this item. When I returned, Amazon helpfully claimed "You purchased this item on October 22, 2009." Yet when I hit order again and got the product in the mail, it turned out to be a lesser "Healthy Climate Solutions" manufactured product. To be fair, it says "Healthy Climate Solutions" down in the description. But it also says in the name of the product "Aprilaire Stock 2200 Filter Media, 2-Pack by Aprilaire". They are NOT "by Aprilaire".

This time the order was fulfilled by America National Products. They were happy to take a return, minus the original $11 shipping, my cost to ship it back, and a $5 "credit card processing fee." All that for an order that cost $55.95 with shipping. We went back and forth a few times, with them claiming the filters they sent were "exactly the same" and "literally identical" to the Aprilaire filters. I finally had to take the filters they sent me out of the box and photograph them next to my just installed second genuine Aprilaire filter from the previous order. The filters they sent me were obviously inferior, being about 10-20% shorter when collapsed. You could also visibly see that the filter material was much thinner. Once confronted with this, they relented and offered a full refund including shipping and without charging me the fee.

I''m not sure whose fault this is, Amazon''s (for the way their system hooks up the items to the sellers inventory) or the sellers. But I just want you to be forewarned. I wound up finding another product on Amazon with the title "The ONLY TRULY GENUINE Aprilaire Model No. 201 (2-Pack)". I figured it would be hard for them to send me something other than the real thing. And the kicker is the price was only $1.20 more than the crappy filters!

These filters are not what you think they are and they are being misrepresented.

When I saw these filters on Amazon I researched to determine if they were manufactured by Aprilaire. I called the phone number shown on the description page. When I spoke with the woman who answered the phone, I asked if these filters were manufactured by Aprilaire and I asked if the filters were shipped in Aprilaire packaging. She confirmed that they were made by Aprilaire and they would be in Aprilaire containers. The packages I received were in American Filters boxes and they do not appear the same as the Aprilaire filters I''ve been using.

The person I spoke with was not truthful and misrepresented what they were selling. I''ve purchased many different items through Amazon.

Sellers that misrepresent what they are selling should not be part of Amazon. Amazon does not need business from Companies like this.

A couple of years ago, I had a new ac/heater system installed, from the ground up. The contractor was very enthused about Aprilaire Filters, setting up the system to utilize Aprilaire 2200. I was very surprised when I first saw the huge size of the filters (they are several inches deep, and do look like an accordion), and read that one filter could last up to a year before changing, while performing at high efficiency for removal of airborne allergens.

After the job was completed, I asked where I might find replacement filters. I was disappointed when told that the closest supplier was halfway across town. This was a big inconvenience, for someone who had previously been able to purchase filters from the local grocery store. I was upset I had not been given this piece of information prior to installation, because I might have decided on a different system.

On a lark, I decided to search Amazon to see if they sold Aprilaire Filters---and there they were. Now, not only did I not have to drive for over an hour for replacements, these filters were delivered to my door with the click of a button, with speedy, professional service.

I must admit that the first time I replaced the filter, myself, I did resort to some cursing. This is not a simple slide the old one out, and slide the new one in, system. This one requires some construction, loading the filter media into the permanent frame. But, after the second change, it became easier, and no longer a dreaded task.

As far as the filtration goes, these filters do NOT last a year in my home. But, I do have a 126 lb, long-haired dog, that tracks in a lot of dirt and dust, despite my best efforts to keep him clean. I won''t go over 6 months, to ensure maximum efficiency, so this does add to the cost factor, for me. Still, overall, I''m satisfied---more so, with the convenience of delivery.

Update 08/26/11: This review was for genuine Aprilaire filters, not for generic replacements that apparently are now available through some sellers --and the sellers do change, as this one has (several times) since my review posted. The generic filters may be great, and, they are slightly less expensive, but since I haven''t tried them, as of yet, I can''t endorse them. So, if this is important to you, then buyer beware. Make sure the seller is offering the original Aprilaire product.

I''ve been using Aprilaire 2200 for eleven years. My wife and son both have allergies and the filters seem to help. They could be easier to change, but it only takes five minutes. It is much less expensive for me to buy online and replace than to have a furnace repair person do it.

These are NOT 201 Aprilaire filters or even a close substitute. The picture posted for this item is very misleading and seems to change every few days. These filters arrived in an unmarked box and have no markings/letters/numbers on them whatsoever completely generic. The pleats are hot glued together instead of the familiar string that is used on real Aprilaire media. The cheap design takes longer to install and to ensure they are aligned properly. If you want a cheap knock off, here is your filter. You get what you pay for and I will not make this mistake again.

Cerama Bryte Stainless Steel Cleaning Polish

Cerama Bryte Stainless Steel Cleaning PolishI''ve been using this stainless steel cleaner for a while now and though I have tried many other brands, this is by far the best. It does not leave any streaks and is not as expensive as some others I have tried. One tip though I recently finished using my last bottle (I usually buy these several at a time) and purchased a couple more from Amazon and to my dismay, found that the new bottle left horrible streaks. I called the 1-800 number to complain and to ask if they had changed their formula. Their suggestion was to shake the bottle really well and instead of using the spray nozzle, to pour a little bit of the cleaner on a cloth/paper towel. The explanation was that sometimes the mineral oil separates from the cleaner and that is when the streaks appear, and also that spraying is not the optimal way to dispense this kind of cleaner. I tried this and the cleaner worked just as well as I remembered.

I place considerable weight on Amazon reviews when looking for a product and since this one got such glowing reviews, decided to give it a try. I have a stainless dishwasher, microwave, double oven (all from KitchenAid), and a Samsung stainless refrigerator. After running out of the thick past like KitchenAid polish (the original type in the black bottle) I started trying alternatives and after several disappointments, tried Cerama Bryte Stainless Steel Polish & Conditioner. I had high expectations with 4.5 stars from Amazon, but what a letdown. It streaks like all the others. I tried it on all the mentioned appliances, follow the instructions carefully and it left nasty streaks that where hard to remove.

Well, I then did some more experimenting. I tried the old tried and true WD40 that I used years ago on my stainless sink. That worked much better than the Cerama Bryte Stainless Steel Polish & Conditioner, but while doing some other cleaning and using a product called Desolv-it, the citrus smell reminded me of the original paste like KitchenAid polish that worked so well. I decided to try it on the lower section of the refrigerator, and presto! It works wonderfully. YES Desol-it worked wonderfully as a polish. I did all my appliances and my wife was blown away at the results. Obsessed with getting the perfect polish, I then decided to order some of the new KitchenAid polish to give it a try (I had read that they changed the formula). Once arrived, I tried it out. It still has the citrus smell, but seems to be watered down. The old formula was the consistency of apple sauce, and the new formula is like water. But it worked very well. It''s definitely a contender.

So the conclusion of the race for the best polish after trying many and being satisfied with only the a few:

1) KitchenAid and Desolv-It are the absolute best. They are simple to apply, require little buffing, and you will get a amazing polish that lasts for weeks.

2) WD40 is next on my list. Works great, but not quite as good as above (and may be more toxic).

3)Cerama Bryte Stainless Steel Polish just doesn''t measure up. Can''t imagine why anyone would really like it. My partially used bottle went in the trash.

I agree with all the other positive reviews here! This is the only polish that doesn''t leave streaks. I searched on-line to find it because I am about to run out of the sample that came with our refrigerator. I have not found another brand that works as good as this one and have tried many.

This is the only one that I have found that works for stainless appliances. It does not leave streaks. In general, I would say that if you have younger children, don''t buy stainless appliances! But whether or not you have kids, this product is the only one I have found that doesn''t drive me crazy trying to get the streaks to disappear. Love it!

Update (several years later): I have been using this product for years but the formula seems to have changed for some reason. It came to me this time in a spray bottly and DEFINITELY is leaving streaks and not working as well as the old formula. Very disappointing! I''m on the hunt for a new product! 3 STARS!

I have a ton of Stainless Steel in my modern loft, including all large and small appliances. I''ve tried many SS cleaners and they all fell short. Most would leave streaks and/or were hard to use. The Cerama Bryte works great and a bottle lasts a long time. I highly recommend this product!

Mr. Beer Octoberfest Lager Refill Brew Pack Save 6% Off

Mr. Beer Octoberfest Lager Refill Brew PackI am really happy to see Mr. Beer is participating now on Amazon! I wish the description would provide some background about what the beer is like. I had to go to their website to figure out what kind of beer this refill is like. For some reason, the URL will not paste into this comment box. Here is the product info:

"Also referred to as Märzenbier, this malty, deep amber colored beer features a smooth body, toffee-like malt richness, and a full, biscuit like bouquet. Sample the celebrated beer of Munich''s world famous Oktoberfest."

I got a Mr. Beer keg kit back in 2006. I did some brewing for two or three years but then got caught up in grad school and work. I am getting back into the swing of things and trying out the various flavors. This Oktoberfest seemed a little light on taste. I served it at a party and people said they tasted fruits, nuts, and coffee. I thought, it was a decent batch but not the best flavor I have brewed before with Mr. Beer.

Finally, ignore the initial reviewer of this product. I did not have trouble realizing that the booster was already included (starts at 3.7%ABV), added some sugar (increasing it 1.5%), and filled up the whole plastic keg. The instructions are clear. I also like not having to include the booster because it didn''t always dissolve quickly in boiling water. The prepped malt is a nice change!

I like this one and if you like Octoberfest you shouldn''t be disappointed. This is my second brew with 2 weeks fermenting, 2 weeks carbonating and 2 weeks in the fridge and I couldn''t be happier with what I poured. I think it tastes great (nice berry flavor) and the head is bold, lasts and doesn''t evaporate in seconds like most beers. If my other brews come out like this one, and my first brew of the Irish Stout, I''ll never be in the beer aisles of a food store again. I purchased this directly from Mr. Beer because the price was lower and I was ordering enough other items (sanitizer, bottles and several refill kits) that made their flat rate shipping worthwhile... they also offer some really good custom kits that crank out some higher alcohol levels if that''s of interest (this one is good for about 3.7% and that''s low for a beer but I wanted taste and I got it... I don''t need to get drunk on my first mug of it. Someone commented on the booster pack but it''s not needed with this item unless you want to increase the alcoholic content.

Sc Johnson #70091 Sb Toilet Cleaning Gel

Sc Johnson #70091 Sb Toilet Cleaning GelWe''ve had this product in action in two of our bathrooms for a few days now. It seems to do a decent job of keeping the toilet clean but it unfortunately smells atrocious. The smell is also VERY strong, to the point that we feel unable to continue using it. I''m guessing we will end up throwing away the remainder of the gel. I cannot wait until it wears off and our bathroom stops stinking.

If they made this in an unscented or made the smell about 100 times less potent it would probably be a fine product, but the smell really is a show stopper, it''s that bad.

I popped in here to review this product because I love the concept. Love the ease of use and think it does a fab job of keeping the bowl clean. At the end of the week, if there''s any left, you can swish it around the bowl for additional cleaning. Yes, this scent is rather odd--I had to get used to it. I''m going to try the citrus scent next. Very easy to use, compact, and I think it''s a winner!

I bought this product a few days ago. After the requisite pre-cleaning, I applied it to the toilet bowl in my master bathroom. My entire master bathroom and LARGE master bedroom now reek of bleachy toilet cleaner smell. I hate it, I won''t use it anywhere else in my home and I wouldn''t recommend it to anyone. Unless you like that cleansery smell, DON''T USE THIS PRODUCT.

Not only does this do nothing to clean the toilet, but it also has a strong unnatural almost toxic scent to it. It is like a Glades candle gone wrong. It activates my gag reflex when I walk into my small bathroom. I imagine if I stayed in the bathroom longer, the smell would also give me a headache.

Each glob of gel also lasts less than a week long, so you will finish this stick in about a month. I am a huge fan of scrubbing bubbles cleansers, but this was a huge disappointment.

I haven''t had any leak problems. The strange noise I was hearing puzzled me. I also envy anybody who can buy this machine straight through Amazon. you lucky ducks you ;-) I had to pay forty dollars for shipping.

Please let me know if you do hear strange noises. I am curious as to how many people get coins stuck inside the drum. It actually took me a while to figure out where the noise was coming from and took the bottom and back panel off, but the noise still continued. I''m not sure how the quarter became stuck in there, and still baffles me to this day. Please keep me updated with any concerns regarding noises. Hopefully, other owners or myself can help.

As far as the effectiveness of the machine, 5 stars says it all. To note, this washer machine doesn''t have a drum spindle (not sure what you call the part that takes up space in most washers), so you can actually fit many more articles or clothing and/or towels inside.

Please let me know if this review was helpful.

Update 9/2/12: Thanks for all the helpful votes. The washer machine is still running strong. Remember if you hear a strange noise, unscrew the screw in the washer basket, and you''ll probably find a coin. I still highly recommend this washer.

I recently purchased this, though not from this vendor. My living space is on the top floor and the laundry area is down 2 winding flights of stairs. Someone suggested that if I could do laundry without having it pile up, my life would be easier. So now, this is the first week I have had this installed. Admittedly, I never have overly high expectations of machinery, but I am more than happy with this.

The instructions for the washer are fairly detailed. I ran into trouble over the sink hook-up, just because I did not understand standard terminology. When a friend came in to help, it took him all of 15 minutes (or less). Everything was tightened with a wrench, plus he tied the two hoses (in and out) with a fastener to position them securely. I ran the first load 5 minutes later. No leaks, in spite of what you might have read in other reviews of the same product.

I am not a big person and tonight, the load (at medium, the default setting) was:

1 pair of long pants

1 flannel pajama shirt

1 cotton sweater (in a laundry bag)

1 blouse

4 pairs underwear and 4 pairs of socks (in separate mesh laundry bag)

2 T-shirts

After reading many reviews, I leave it on the medium setting and don''t overfill it. I also got these laundry bags to protect the clothing. The spin cycle does a good enough job so the clothes dry within 12 hours on a rack in the bathroom. It is also easy to hook and unhook from the sink, and comes with wheels that you can choose to install.

I am ***very*** happy with the ease of use, convenience, portability, small footprint.

January, 2012:

Update: Towards the end of the warranty period, there was suddenly a spark and the whole thing went dead. In spite of what you may read elsewhere, I did reach a real person when I called the number listed on the instruction manual. A local authorized repair person was despatched who diagnosed it as the motherboard having a short. Haier was supposed to send the repair rep. a part, but I heard nothing, until a call several weeks later from Haier, saying they were going to replace the washer outright. There were things I had to do and instructions to follow, like cut the piping etc. etc., cut a label, include this and that. When this was followed to a "T", I did receive a new washer, again some weeks later. This immediately malfunctioned and water overflowed. It was a huge mess and somewhat of an emergency. Because I could not wait, I did not call the company but took care of it with my own repair guy. We switched the water level sensor (wrong part on the new one!) with the one I had saved on the old machine. Since then, it has worked beautifully. However, should this malfunction again, I may look for another brand To cut a long story short: 1. Save all documentation. 2. The product is inconsistent. Why would the new washer immediately malfunction with an INCORRECT PART? This was troubling. 3. If you are not in a hurry to get it repaired, then Haier does come through. 4. If Haier replaces the machine, save the old one for parts, if you possibly have room. It is because of these hassles and the malfunctioning that I have downgraded the 5-star to 3.

I purchased this washer from Target through Amazon last month and I couldn''t be more pleased with it. I have been reading the reviews of these the little Haier washers for several months so I was prepared for how the bottom plate works (it bulges out), for the fact that we would struggle a bit getting the screws through the plate and that we needed teflon tape and good pliers to really tighten the hose connections. We were very careful in doing all that and we have no leaks and no odd noises. The sink adapter fit my sink perfectly so I didn''t have to find a replacement. All and all, the set-up was easier than I expected.

As far as using it goes, the loads are larger than I thought they would be, the clothes come out very clean and well spun out so they dry quickly. The controls are easy to understand and so far everything has worked as it is supposed to. Our household has three members, myself and two teenagers and so far it is keeping up with us and sparing us the hideous laundromat problems we had before. A load might be a pair of jeans, 3 shirts and 3 pairs of socks or a sheet, 2 pillow cases and a large towel. We have even washed some blankets.

If anything goes wrong or it develops major problems I''ll try to remember to update here but so far I''m very satisfied.

I''d been looking at this washer for the past 2-3 months. I really wanted it, but, I didn''t have a reason to justify it. This week, I got my reason. Doing 1 load of laundry here in NYC is (minimum) $5 NOT including the dryer. A lot of people who live in apartment buildings have washer/dryers in their basements. People like me, who live in a brownstone/town-house DON''T. The other problem is is it legal? A lot of landlords pooh-pooh the idea of getting washer and/or dryers in tenants apartments, because of the extra electricity drain (a lot of older buildings here don''t have the greatest wiring), and the water hook-ups (the electrical costsis estimated at $14/year, based on 8 loads week. That''s good for me!).

After studying the reviews particularly the one from Witzkeyman "Louie Arrighi" a fellow NYC''er, I felt that his enthusiastic thumbs-up (and wonderful video), I would ''take the plunge.''

Even though I ordered it yesterday, and they said I''d have it delivered by this Tuesday, I was VERY pleasantly surprised this morning, when FedEx rang my bell, and ... delivered it.

After learning the ''do-not''s'' here (particularly about installing the bottom plate correctly), I had the machine up & running within 10 minutes (not to put anyone down, but, I found that the people who did gripe about putting on the plate the wrong way, etc. would not have had these problems...if they just read the instructions, which, yes, I hate them too, but they were very easy and fast).

I''m one ecstatic apartment dweller now. This machine does what people like me need it to do; it does the day''s load. The sheets from the bed. The towels & such. It''s NOT a machine to give it a week''s worth of laundry, and that''s a blessing to me. I don''t have to collect dirty laundry all week, I can have it done, and ready for wearing the next morning.

When it''s spinning the clothes out (jeans are a great clothing item to judge by) at the end of the cycle, it really, REALLY gets the water out to the point that the clothes are only slightly damp, and not soaking wet.

Since it''s been a really hot summer here in Manhattan, it''s a perfect time to put this machine through it''s paces. Every other day (color/white alternate), I''ll put a load in after I''ve had dinner. Within about 15 minutes, the machine''s finished, and I hang the clothes up to dry. By morning, they''re good-to-go.

As I said, the reviews here on AMAZON are always very important to me, especially when I''m not familiar with the product. Besides Witzkeyman Louie Arrighi''s helpful, informative video about the Haier (by the way the name of the company is pronounced like ''higher,'' NOT like ''hair.'' If you ever see a commercial of theirs overseas they say ''dream, think, etc. Haier''), I also found Vlad from San Francisco''s review helpful. I also took note of, because, while he had difficulties, he did say that AMAZON did try to help, and I strongly agree with those words. Another reviewer (name escapes me) addressed the drying question. He said that the clothes were so slightly damp, he''d dry them on a rack or a line. Saves money, and helps prevent wear on the clothing. He was 100% spot-on.

To all of you, I owe you a thanks for your advice.

In conclusion I had a Haier air conditioner at my previous address, and got a new one when I moved here (see my review on that), and having had terrific experiences with Haier, and putting them through tough work, I was doubly-sure the Haier HLP21N Pulsator...Portable Washer would also make me happy. And it has.

My Little Steamer by Joy Mangano

My Little Steamer by Joy ManganoI have gone through 2 of these over the years we use it daily and LOVE them. I had to replace my latest one, and this one is a piece of trash! It spits water like crazy. My clothes end up so wet its ridiculous. Will be returning the thing. Hope that isn''t a pain in the >>>>>!

This is the second My Little Steamer that I purchased. The first one I had lasted for around 4 years. I gave up my iron I was so pleased with it. It started pausing for a minute or two in between a steady flow of steam so I figured it was time for a new one. The new one however, pretty much did this same thing off the bat. The retractable cord also didn''t work well almost out of the box. I don''t have any of the packaging info anymore or I would''ve sent it back. I guess my expectations weren''t that high for a 30 dollar product but it is disappointing that it doesn''t really work.

Iron Out Toilet Bowl Cleaner (Twin Pack)

Iron Out Toilet Bowl CleanerWe have very hard water with a lot of iron in it. This product works the best of anything I''ve tried. Our tanks were completely stained orange and now they are white. I couldn''t even get it off with bleach before. I''m not sure what the other reviewers expected but this does exactly what it''s supposed to do. It is not bleach, it will not clean like bleach. You''ll still have to keep your bowl clean with other products. The stuff that shows up in the bowl is from other "germs", not from iron. This is only for removing the rusty stains. That''s what I needed and it works. Trust me.

I''m dissapointed in this product. The other products that I''ve used from this company have been wonderful but this one doesn''t do the job it claims it will do.

ZRO-4 Undercounter 4 Stage Zero Waste RO Water Filter

ZRO-4 Undercounter 4 Stage Zero Waste RO Water FilterWe''ve had this system for over a year now. Water quality and operation is fine, but it is very difficult to install and maintain and comes with poor instructions. Maintenance parts are expensive, and do not include everything you need to carry out the maintenance procedures.

We had to get a handyman to install this system and it took him several hours to put it together. Then we realized that the system requires power and has to be plugged in to operate. Unfortunately, our home, like most homes, did not have electrical outlets under the kitchen sink. So we had to call an electrician to install an electrical outlet for the unit to be plugged in. By the time we were done, we had spent more on the handyman and the electrician than what we paid for the system!

Maintenance is also hard. The system require filters to be changed every six months. The replacements kitts and shipping charges from the Watts'' website are expensive. I would tolerate that if the replacement procedure was easy enough. Unfortunately, it''s quite frustrating. The system has several parts and connections. The instructions in the accompanying manual are difficult to follow. In this day and age, you would think Watts could post a video on their website? The biggest problem is that the filter housings get so tight that you cannot unscrew them with your hands to replace the filter. You need to purchase a special wrench, which Watts does not bother including in the filter change kit. You have to order it separately and pay even more in shipping charges.

I have been using this for several years. It works great. Previously I had a wasteful RO system. It trickled water down the drain 24-7. Big waste of water and noise enough to bother me sleeping. This produces about 2.5 gallons a day, which could be plenty or not enough. This one has a small electric pump, which hums when its making water, quiet when it''s done. The water is perfect.

3M Filtrete Fast Flow Filter Save 46% Off

3M Filtrete Fast Flow Filter
  • One Fast Flow Filter
  • Filter lasts longer, filtering two and a half times more water than traditional pitcher filters (up to 100 gallons for approximately three months)
  • Includes a three-month filter change indicator that shows when it s time to change the filter, it is recyclable with 2 plastics
  • Compatible with Filtrete Water Station and Pitcher

I''m on my third filter now. Unfortunately, the filtering quality has been very different with each of the filters. They were manufactured in at least two, and possibly three, different countries, which may explain the inconsistent performance.

The first filter I had '' the one that came with the pitcher '' was great. I flushed the filter as directed, and my first pitcher-full of filtered water tasted great. Water was filtered fairly quickly. I do not know where this filter was manufactured. I didn''t think to check at the time, and it may not have been noted on the product. (If I recall correctly, the filter that comes with the pitcher is just enclosed in plastic and not in a separate box where the country of origin may be listed.)

With the second filter (the replacement filter on this product page), I flushed as directed, but the taste wasn''t right. It turned out to be charcoal. When I looked at the water, I noticed specs of the charcoal filter everywhere. I figured I just didn''t flush the filter enough, so I flushed it some more. I still got charcoal in the filtered water. It took many, many gallons of flushing to get all the charcoal out. Once I did that, the water tasted fine. Water was filtered fairly quickly through this filter as well. I noticed the box indicated this filter was manufactured in Mexico.

I had the worst experience with my third filter. Remembering the excessive flushing I had to do with the previous filter, I flushed this one for an extended period. Right off the bat I noticed water was being filtered much slower than with the previous two. (Whether that translates into better filtering, I don''t know.) Even after the extended flushing, I still got specks of charcoal in the water. It took a lot more flushing to get it all out. This filter was manufactured in China.

We purchased a Filtrete water pitcher and for 3 months we loved how fast it filtered the water. We recently replaced the filter and it now takes a very long time to filter the water -which totally removes the benefit of having this pitcher. We''ve asked for an exchange for a new filter and a free one to make up for the trouble. Hopefully they will send a replacement and this is just a one-time problem.

OMG I love this system. My water tastes better using this than from my own fridge! My only complaint is where to store it. Unfortunetly I have a tiny counter with very little counter space so I can''t just leave the filtration system in a convient place but that''s my issue not 3M''s. I had originally hoped I could purchase this and use at work but I have the same problem at work. I still highly recommend this product, the bottles are easy to carry.

The filters I just received are of far inferior quality to the ones I previously bought on this website. The water doesn''t flow as it should... it drips excrutiatingly slowly. The taste is worse than from the tap. What happened here? I hope this is not the new standard. I''m thinking of discarding the whole system and replacing with another brand. I bought the pitcher in October its now November. The water tastes great and we love it. Unfortunately it time to change the filter...

I''ve bought 2 replacement filters and they both have the black specks floating in the water. We use this water for our newborn but my wife doubts it with the black specks now so we have not used it. I haven''t been able to flush the filter clear, I''ve tried for 2 days.

Capresso 440.05 MT-500 10-Cup Electronic Coffeemaker

Capresso 440.05 MT-500 10-Cup Electronic Coffeemaker with Thermal Carafeafter months of dealing with burnt coffee from my trusty krups coffeemaker...i decided that there just HAD to be a better way. i launched an exhaustive search for what would be the best (you know this is always a compromise, anyways) machine for the job. i knew i wanted a thermal carafe...and wasn''t as concerned with the price as i was concerned with the quality and durability.

i read many reviews here on amazon...including reviews for this machine. after seeing a bunch of negative reviews (based on how difficult to operate, clean, or lack of really HOT coffee from this machine) i decided to look further, instead of just jumping in.

of course...as i searched the web, i finally realized that i was just going to have to try the machine...worst that could happen was that i could experience all the problems that some others had...and i''d have to return it.

expecting problems (i saw an awful lot of buyer whining about operation difficulty (it isn''t a problem) temperature of coffee (although quoted as 170 degrees in the manual it generally stays in the carafe at 160 degrees) and all assortment of complaints about adding water to the reservoir (a no brainer), assembly/cleaning issues (also very simple), pause and serve issues (never had a problem)...

i had NO problems whatsoever with this unit. coffee tasted good from the first cup...and still tastes good (i''ve had the unit for over two months now)

as a matter of fact...the coffee is still hot and drinkable after 3 hours (although the manual does recommend that you dispose of the coffee after 2 hours)

so all in all? a VERY satisfied customer...i rated it at 4 stars because it IS expensive...and for the anal-retentive types out there...yes the coffee rarely exceeds 165 degrees...

but...if you are sitting on the fence (like i was) jump in! you won''t be disappointed!

I went with 3 stars because of price and design. It is better than 3, but I can''t bring myself to call it 4. 3.5 is very fair. The coffee that this machine brews is far superior to any machine I have owned. It easily rivals coffee house machines. However, the carafe was poorly designed and the price tag is way too steep. I won''t return it, but I retain the right gripe a bit.

PROS:

Coffee taste is INCREDIBLE! Unmatched by any home machine I know of.

Coffee is brewed hot. That is a fact. Do not let bad reviews about temp scare you. This machine brews hot.

Coffee remains hot. Again, don''t be scared. I don''t pre-heat the carafe. The hot water heats it fast and since steel is a conductor, the carafe warms quickly. FWIW, I dumped a couple cups this morning after they sat all night. I kid you not when I say if you take it black, the temperature was still passable.

It extracts max flavor from the grinds, therefore less coffee is required.

The keypad is easy to use and understand. The cord compartment is very handy.

CONS:

One hundred and sixty bucks is too much money. First off, the whole machine is not stainless steel. There is a lot plastic and fake steel. The brew technology is good, but there is no way on earth this machine is worth more than 2x a Braun 180. The coffee is a bit better, but you really have to be a fanatic to taste it.

The carafe is TERRIBLY designed in the way it receives the brew. YES, YOU WILL HAVE COFFEE POUR ALL OVER YOUR KITCHEN IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL! The entry hole is too small. You can set the carafe in place and it will still overflow. It needs to be set PERFECTLY. The lips should be bigger by about 1/4" to prevent spillage. In fact, I feel this lid should be recalled. It is that bad. Exercise caution and you will be fine, but always be aware. Sometimes the ball sticks so even if it is lined up perfectly, it will still overflow. Make sure the green ball is moving before putting the lid on the pot. Use the tip of a knife to jar it loose if it is stuck.

The lack of a removable water resovoir is inexcusable at this level. The machine is a little on the heavy side and doesn''t slide easily, plus you hide the cord. A removable water resovoir would have been great.

The carafe does pour slow. Make sure the dot is over the spout for best performance. Turning it past the spout only slows it further, it doesn''t make the opening bigger! If it gets annoying, remove the lid, pour normal, then replace the lid.

This review may sound negative, but it isn''t. Again, the coffee quality is unmatched. However, you do need to put up with mind-bogglingly dumb engineering and tiny quirks. But, like that lawnmower that only you know how to start, this is a machine you''ll grow to love as you figure out how to control it.

Buy Capresso 440.05 MT-500 10-Cup Electronic Coffeemaker Now

I''ve had a Bunn for years and recently bought a Capresso predominately for the filter on the Capresso machine. The Capresso also has a thermal carafe (Bunn makes a themal carafe machine now as well) and a timer. I tend to be searching for the perfect cup of coffee and my wife goes more for convenience so my review will reflect these diferences to a degree.

1. AESTHETICS: Though this is largely subjective, I think most will agree that the Capresso is smarter and more modern. The Bunn still has that retro-diner look. Not that big a deal to me but what I do like about the Capresso is it''s more compact design. Give the edge to Capresso.

2. QUALITY: Both are quality machines. I''ve had the Bunn for years and it is a solid machine. The fit and finish of the Capresso is quite good.

Advantage...even.

3. QUIETNESS: I mention this because Capresso brags about how quiet it is...... Well, the Capresso still perks and girgles like any other machine. Nothing beats the BUNN for quietness because the water is always heated. When cold water is added to the machine, it displaces the hot water and it is a completely quiet operation. Advantage BUNN

4. SERVICE: BUNN has been great over the years backing up their machines and I think Capresso will be equally impressive. My first machine had a small electrical glitch that powered the machine off after brewing. I called Capresso...didn''t have to wait long on the phone and with no hesitation, they said they would have a new one sent out the next day complete with a UPS label to return the faulty unit. Advantage...EVEN.

5. EASE OF USE: One reason BUNN has never put a timer on their units is that their is really no need. Pour the water in and 3 minutes later you have coffee...thats it. With a timer unit, you still have to put the water in the night before. So for me, that is just something else that can break and is wash as far as ease of use. I did find it a bit easier to poor the water in on the BUNN. The Capresso has a large top that opens and if it is under a counter you will probably have to pull the entire machine away from the wall....probably the single most thing I dislike about the Capresso. The Capresso does have about a 15 minute learning curve while the BUNN is completely intuitive and has about a 1 minute learning curve. Not a big deal in my book. Once you learn how to program the timer on the Capresso, it''s a no brainer. Capresso also has the option of paper or paperless filters in the machine. Capresso has a feature to brew a 1/2 pot of coffee but for BUNN, simpley poor in the water amount that you want to brew and a smaller amount coffee in the filter and the same result.. Small Advantge...BUNN.

A WORD ON SPILLS: I''ve read a few reviews that say that the Capresso is prone to spills....I find the Capresso nearly spill proof. The thermal carafe needs to be lined up under the machine to allow the water to flow through, but the carafe sits in a cradle with very little movement and I just don''t see how these people could have a problem with this. The BUNN on the other hand sits on a hot plate and is more suseptible in my opinion to misaligning the carafe. The BUNN in the past has had a problem with dribbling from their carafe, but that has been redesigned and works fine now. I do find it slow to poor from the Capresso carafe, but it does not leak or dribble. Advantage...even.

THERMAL CARAFE; The Capresso absolutely keeps the coffee hot....even an hour later you will still be sipping so as not to burn your lips. This is definately NOT a problem. In fact, I love the thermal carafe...it ensures good taste through the entire pot...Thermal carafes are the way to go in my opinion. BUNN has one now so I have to call this EVEN.

PRICE: The Capresso was $20 more.

TASTE: The advantage here is Capresso simply because the water is filtered, but if you use filtered water from your faucet or any other source it''s a wash. Both machines brew a good cup of coffee.

Overall, both machines are great. The Capresso is more modern and has a few more bells and whistles, but the BUNN brews twice as fast and is absolutley quiet. ....you pick...both are quality machines.

Read Best Reviews of Capresso 440.05 MT-500 10-Cup Electronic Coffeemaker Here

I was a little hesitant to spend (Than much)for this coffee maker, but after conducting a great deal of research (and driving to many stores and comparing brands and models) I am happy I made the investment! This machine brews an outstanding pot of coffee that tastes great and stays relatively hot for hours without burning.

I was also impressed with the solid construction of the machine. The machine is constructed without flimsy parts (like the Krups) and is very user friendly. In addition, the digital clock is easy to program and begins brewing coffee flawlessly on time each morning.

I did encounter one problem, however. After washing the filter basket and gold filter on a prior evening, I inadvertently placed them back in the machine slightly crooked. Then, when I tried to take away the carafe in mid-brew the next morning, the machine continued to pour freshly brewed coffee all over the counter until I hurriedly replaced the carafe. Of course, this whole ordeal was due to my stupidity (and I admit it) and not the fault of the machine.

The one item I would ask Capresso to consider including with this coffee maker in the future is a transparent (plastic) measuring container for water. Unless you have one readily available from an earlier purchase of a coffee maker from another company, if you fill your carafe with water, you have to look to the side of the machine (while you are pouring) to see how much water you have poured in. It is somewhat distracting to the a fairly simple process of brewing the perfect cup of coffee, but it is an improvement from which virtually everyone who purchases this coffee maker would benefit.

Other than this one suggestion, I think that (notwithstanding the price) this is the greatest coffee maker ever! I realize quality comes at a price, and again, I am happy I made the investment. (And to prove it, I will be giving a number of them as Christmas gifts this year.)

Want Capresso 440.05 MT-500 10-Cup Electronic Coffeemaker Discount?

I''ve had Braun and Krups makers before, but my Krups went kaput and I wanted something a little better for preparing a variety of fine Arabica coffees, from Antigua types like Kona to rich Indonesian varieties, to their best. (I was raised in Mexico, where for candy I sucked on coffee cherries, not candies.) The reviews here seemed a bit mixed, but after some research, I bit the bullet and bought the machine.

I have had the Capresso 440 for six months, so I feel I can comment now... and I am very impressed! It prepares excellent coffee, in large or small batches (there is a selector switch), has a permanent goldtone filter (you can buy paper filters -preferably unbleached if you prefer,) coffee comes out above 165 F / 74C, and it stays warm at least a couple of hours; the coffee-maker is easy to program, set up and clean. It even looks good, though my prime criterion is always the quality of the coffee produced.

One small thing I improved on was the small black dot on the top of the black lid used to open / close the opening to the spout I used a dot of yellow acrylic paint to make it more visible, and it makes a significant difference. Two things I think could be improved on the fill indicator float-ball-in-column is on the right side, ecessed, and the design of the machine makes it a bit difficult to see in the darkish corner of my kitchen counter; and of course, a lower price would please everyone. These are relatively minor the Capresso, made by a company that makes upper end machines for professional baristas, is a high-quality coffee-making machine that''s sure to please aficionados of good coffees.

If you can''t program your VCR or radio-alarm, demand piping hot coffee that blisters the mouth, or prepare cheaper Robusta coffees like Farmer Bros., forget this machine save your money and get a Mr. Coffee. If you prefer espresso types, Capresso makes machines that do that, you won''t be satsified here. To each, according their own taste...

But if you enjoy fine Arabicas properly prepared, without the unhealthy effects of plunge / press makers, and a machine that is easy to use and seems substantial enough to last, I think you will be very happy with the Capresso.

A bit pricey for something I doubt we''ll ever need again -or at least not for another 5-10 years by which time it will be buried so deep in the shop I''ll never find it. It cost as much as the replacement cartridge.

Without it, we were unsuccessful at pulling the cartridge after 20 minutes. With it, the cartridge popped out nearly instantly. Huge difference!

I bought this tool because it was listed as a Moen 104421. I received a product marked 08-0423 in a package marked Quality Repair Parts. I seems to be the same as the Danco puller. I have no problem with the tool but it is not what is listed in the description. I paid a premium in order to get an original Moen product but I did not get a genuine Moen product. Wholesale Plumbing sells this same item on eBay with a clear description that it is not a Moen product.

I would have been in big trouble without this tool... with the faucet disassembled and unable to get the cartridge out, using this tool was the ONLY way, period. If your single handle shower is old, there''s a good chance the cartridge is stuck. If you run into this, then close everything back up, and turn on the water again, order this tool and reschedule the project.

The videos on the Moen website are helpful too, but they don''t mention this tool!

Great tool, easy to use and it worked without any problems. The cost may come back as special benefits (see below).

I am retired and living in Florida. Out guest bathroom doesn''t get too much use for about 9 months. The inevitable happened, the mineral deposits in the water and the hot weather caused the shower control to develop mineral deposits and not work.

While pricing replacement cartridges, I saw that people had purchased this cartridge pulling tool. Having tried to repace stuck cartridges before I knew that this could be a difficult job. The house design did not have a water shut off for the shower by itself and I had to turn off the entire house. If the repair developed into a problem area I would have all of the water turned off for a long time.

In using the tool, it did not pull out with just the first step, so I went on to the part using the large nut to break the seal. It came out in about 30 seconds. I have passed on the information of the problem of not exercising the water controls frequently to all my friends to help prevent this problem.

A large number of them want to borrow me and the tool when they have problems.

I have a possible limitless supply of beer in my future!

I tried the plastic part that came with the cartridge. Of course, it broke. So, I purchased this metal cartridge puller. It made short work of extracting the old cartridge and worked as advertised. Just make sure and follow directions to the letter and don''t tighten too much because it will bend or break the cartridge piece the puller fits into.

Cuisinart DCC-1200PRC 12-Cup Replacement Glass Carafe Save 39% Off

Cuisinart DCC-1200PRC 12-Cup Replacement Glass Carafe, BlackI received an e-mail from Amazon asking me to review this carafe, which I had purchased about two weeks ago. OK, I''ll write a review. Here we go: In a world where carafes often go unnoticed, many carafes and carafe-like kitchen accessories struggled to rise above the masses; to gain recognition; to find some way to be different. This carafe, all by itself, did just that. Bravely staying put in the coffee maker while near-boiling coffee dripped in, resolutely holding this coffee for up to several hours so that the Joe wouldn''t just flow freely across the kitchen counter top, this carafe decided to make a difference. Sometimes our world seems to be coming apart at the seams, but you can count on this carafe to hold your coffee together in one place. Coming soon to a theater near you. (I''m here all week; try the roast beef).

This is an excellent example of soaking the consumer. You can buy an entire coffee maker for the price of this carafe, but once you''ve committed to the Cuisinart coffee maker, you''ve got to buy their replacement carafe only because nothing else will fit. And it''s not terribly well made (fairly thin glass), which is why the original one broke so easily.

But it does make good coffee. Just be careful washing the carafe.

I have had my Cuisinart coffeemaker for 3-4 years now, and I''m currently on my fifth (!!!) replacement carafe. The carafe is fine. Its handle is sturdy, the carafe has never dribbled, and can hold max capacity of 12 cups of coffee. I use it about twice a day.

My only complaint is that the glass wall of the carafe is thin. My first, second, and third carafes were chipped or broken by falls. However, this latest one was very flimsy: after many months of handwashing (I never put it in the dishwasher), I accidentally tapped the side of the carafe on the granite counter next to the sink, and it _shattered_ into many small pieces. My fifth carafe now is 5 months strong.

Yes, it''s upsetting that the replacement carafes are so expensive. But the coffeemaker itself is excellent, and I won''t change getting replacement carafes (unless there is a generic out there that''s cheaper and sturdier). This makes me think of inkjet printers: they''re so cheap, but the ink is so expensive. The Cuisinart coffeemaker is inexpensive and EXCELLENT, but unfortunately the carafes are expensive.

Having already replaced my DCC 1200PRC twice a friend advised to shop for the generic version which is available at about half the price! Although I love my Cuisinart coffee maker, replacing the pot had become way too expensive. I am very happy with the model that I found at Total Vac.

FilmTec 50 GPD Membrane For Standard Reverse Osmosis Systems Save 56% Off

FilmTec 50 GPD Membrane For Standard Reverse Osmosis SystemsThis is review of "Dow Filmtec Residential RO Membrane". While it should work as described, DO NOT USE on Watts Premier WP systems (i.e. WP-4V, WP-4, WP-5). The WP systems are the one-piece manifold systems from Watts Premier.

This does not have the built-in Check Valve or Brine Seal inside the white plastic tube of the RO Membrane. Without this Check Valve or Brine Seal, water from the reservoir tank (when full) will back flow to the RO membrane and damage it, and waste water.

This back flow or reverse flow will happen when your reservoir tank gets full. So basically, you will be wasting water as the water trickle will not stop. When I tested it, water continued to trickle out of the reject water outlet tube even when my reservoir tank is full already (it should stop when reserve tank is full). The water coming out is at a much slower rate though, but still plenty enough to raise your water bill since the water trickle will continue 24 hours a day.

Can''t go wrong with Filmtec, and we''ve used them for years now. As long as you flush out all the new activated carbon filters in front of the RO filter, no problems. If you don''t, your RO filter will clog early from carbon powder remaining in the new filter replacements. So always flush the pre-filters with water before hooking them up to your RO filter.

When our apartment was renovated this last year the installation of beautiful new Moen faucets in our kitchen rendered our old and much used top-of-sink filter useless. The replacement of it with an under-the-sink version from Multi-pure was a very expensive option. We looked for another solution. As I ALWAYS do these days I checked Amazon first and found this system for about half the price of the Multi-pure. As luck would have it a friend had recently purchased one of these reverse osmosis systems and was raving bout it. The other reviews here on Amazon were largely raves as well so I ordered one.

Several of the Amazon reviewers mentioned that they had installed it easily. I can''t really speak to this as the maintenance kid in our building was happy to install it for us. He discovered and it bears mentioning that we needed an adapter in order to install it as we have a garbage disposal unit. It was easily obtainable from Amazon and was in hand whithin a couple of days. It was then a matter of about a half an hour for our maintenance person Kevin to install the system.

Our building is older and the water had tested positive for a number of contaminants including lead and of course chlorine, which we could smell. Subsequent testing showed DRAMATIC reductions in all contaminants and we no longer smell chlorine. Thanks Amazon! AND Kevin!

These are very easy to install and 1/2 the price of other name brand manufactures. Just put a towel under the unit to catch a few drops of water and twist. Put the new one on and you are set. None of the flushing of the tank and finding bleach to clean system.
