AR Blue Clean AR383 1,900 PSI 1.5 GPM 14 Amp Electric Pressure Washer Save 18% Off

AR Blue Clean AR383 1,900 PSI 1.5 GPM 14 Amp Electric Pressure Washer with Hose ReelPros:

The unit is lightweight and easy to move. It has a variety of included attachments to tackle almost all jobs around the home. One nice feature is the adjustable spray tip on the wide-angle wand. The unit has a lot of power for an electrical pressure washer -more than enough to clean driveways, decks, grills, mowers, etc.

Cons:

As mentioned in many other reviews, the plastic hose adapter leaks water, right in the middle where the two washers meet. The leaking is so bad as to make the unit unusable, unless you enjoy being sprayed with a torrent of water while you work. The solution: go down to your local hardware store and buy a brass male-to-male hose adapter for 8 bucks. Now you are in business.

The high-pressure hose that runs from the unit to the spray-gun is made from a stiff plastic that tangles easily and is hard to manage as you move around. I am currently researching buying an after-market hose made from high quality rubber to avoid this problem.

Also, don''t bother storing the hose using the built-in reel. It is fussy work trying to get the hose on and off, and bending the hose in tight circles makes it that much easier to tangle when you use it. Simply coil the hose loosely and drop it around the top of the handle. This will save you lots of time.

Final thoughts: This unit provides a good value among other electric pressure washers, if you don''t mind upgrading the hose adapter and dealing with a slightly annoying hose.

The pressure washer does its job beautifully. It has a really long electric cord which was one of the requirements for me since I didn''t want to mess with extension cords. The hose is actually pretty long too, so you don''t have to drag the pressure washer around when you wash your car for example. Just set it in one place and the length of the hose will be enough reach all around.

The pressure washer comes with 2 wands. One has a rotating tip and the other one has a tip that can be adjusted for different spray angles so you don''t really need to buy any extra tips. It also has a bottle for cleaning chemicals.

All accessories, electric cord and hose have their place right on the unit and they fit quiet nicely.

Don''t forget, it has 1900 PSI which is really pretty high pressure for non-commercial pressure washers. I don''t know what''s inside the unit, but it just feels sturdy and solid.

I don''t usually write reviews but what made me do it is AR North America''s customer service. After testing the unit, I ordered an extra accessory from them directly (flat surface cleaner to clean cement surfaces). They have phone #''s and email addresses of their entire staff listed on their web side, so I asked few questions which were answered immediately. So I placed my order and couple of days later they informed me that the part I ordered was on back-order, so they offered to refund the money if I didn''t feel like waiting. You know, usually companies will make you wait even if it''s couple of weeks. I asked them how long I''d have to wait and they told me about a week which wasn''t a big deal for me at all, so I was prepared to wait. The next day I received another email from them saying that they would send me a $90 surface cleaner instead of $30 one I had ordered...get this... at no extra charge. I buy stuff on-line very often and I have never seen anything like that before.

Great product, great customer service. It''s very comforting to know that a company stands behind their product in case you need it and most importantly, easily accessible.

I did a lot of research on electric power washers and this brand seemed to have really good professional reviews. I chose this particular model because of the long power cord and the long high pressure hose. As extra bonuses you also get 1900 pounds of pressure and everything wraps up nice and neat on the unit. My only concern is the plastic connection for the hose. I wish they would have used brass or steel like what they have on the high pressure connection. I''ve tested the unit for about three hours. I washed a couple of windows; did a great job. I cleaned my tiled patio; got the dirt out of the grout. I cleaned my car; got most of the dirt, but even a 3000 psi unit can''t get it all, it''s just a basic fact you have to use some elbow grease to get road scum off. I also tried it on my fence to clean off dirt and moss build up; didn''t do such a good job but then again it is a 1900psi unit and for wood you really need at least 2600psi. For that you need a gas unit and I really don''t want to deal with the mess, the loud noise, and the maintenance. I''m really happy with this unit so far, I just hope it doesn''t break after a couple of uses like I heard from reviewers of other brands.

I purchased the AR383 from a local retailer for $120. I have used the pressure washer for a few hours and here are my observations:

I find the shut-off feature to be really nice. When you release the trigger handle on the wand and stop washing, the motor shuts off. No worries about burning up the pump. The pressure available is what I expected: not nearly what a gasoline powered washer will do, but fine for an electric. Serious power washing will require a gasoline powered pump, but for small, short duration jobs, like blasting a lawn mower, vehicle, or small deck, it''s really fine. And using an electric pw is light, quick and mess-free. Haul it out, hook it up, do the deed, and then put it away.

I am also pleased that the hookups for water input and pump output are metal. Aluminum I believe. Some consumer grade washers have plastic fittings at these locations and are very fragile. The wand and rotary tip supplied work great. And now for the nits to pick:

In general, a wand tip that offers "adjustable" spray pattern is a compromise. Fine for some, but nonadjustable tips that offer different spray patterns work much better. A significant criticism is the placement and specification of the pump output. The high pressure output is located in an area that is difficult to access for threading on the high pressure hose. It can be done, but I think it is too fiddly, and too easy to damage the threads in the soft aluminum. To make life easier, I thought I would purchase some quick connect fittings to modify the pump output and the hose input. Well...AR has chosen to use a 15mm pump/hose size, so none of the more common (in the USA) 14mm fittings will work. Naturally, if you are not bothered by no quick connect capability, this point is moot.

To be fair, I emailed the USA technical dept at AR asking about a quick connect adapter. Very quickly and politely I was informed that there was no provision for quick connect adapters but that my concern would be relayed to the engineers in Italy. Other technical info that I requested was offered as well. As far as quick and thorough answers to my questions, highest compliments to AR customer service!

At this point, as is my way, I stepped out of the normal consumer universe and decided to design and fabricate a device so that I could use the available quick connect adapters with my new AR383. A couple of dollars worth of brass tubing and a few minutes work at the metal lathe, and voila, I can now use the available quick connect fittings for the pressure hose hook up. Makes the pressure hose hook up much faster and less fiddly. I also use a quick connect fitting on the garden hose input. No special engineering needed for that, just visit your local home center for the adapters.

Given the limitations of a consumer grade electric power washer, I really like the AR383. Much better that the two previous yellow washers. Way less trouble than using a gasoline powered washer. And with my qc mod, I can use all my other hoses and wands.

Our large brick patio was in need of a good washing and removal of the gunk and weeds between the bricks, so I was contemplating the electric SnapOn2000psi from Costco, but none of the stores near us had it in stock, so went on-line and did a ton of research.

Settled on this one and am not disappointed at all.

It is far, far better than the 1600 psi until I bought at Costco years ago and gave away a year later. The biggest difference is that the hose AND cord on this AR383 easily wind up onto the base so it takes up very little space in our basement and is easy to cart around. My previous one''s hose was very stiff and had no location to wind up anything. The AR383s hose is far more flexible than many others.

It had plenty of pressure for my needs. Even our brick wall proved to be much dirtier than I realized. It had enough pressure to remove the paint from our wooden gate (oops -I just needed to back up a bit and all was well.)

The hose does NOT need to be removed from the base in order to be wound up (but yes, the handle does need to be removed... the picture is a wee bit deceiving)

I had only minor issues with inserting the wand into the handle or turning just the nozzle. It is a small learning curve.

I have had no issue with leaks anywhere. There were washers in both side of the hose connection.

I had to switch hands every so often due to fatigue, but I did not notice any excessive vibration and a simple sweep back and forth, inching forward one half a brick at a time proved to be effortless.

I loved the auto-shut off. Especially when one wants to quickly silence the noise so you can hear your kids.

I would have liked to spend $40 less on the SnapOn and have the comfort of easy return, however one cannot buy/use what is not available, so I am quite happy with this purchase.

On the box, they show several attachments that are optionally available (a 75 degree angle head, some rotating brushes).

Sprite Original Handheld Shower Filteri wanted a filtered shower because i have sensitive skin, and after reading all the great reviews on filtered showers making skin and hair softer and healthier, decided to try one. Well, i can''t tell any difference whatsoever in my hair or skin after using this about a month now. perhaps there just wasn''t much chlorine in my water to begin with? i never had a problem with dry hair, just with sensitive, dry skin. anyway the showerhead itself is nice and i love the metal hose which hangs down nicely and doesn''t stick out like plastic ones. it''s also very easy to turn the head to adjust the spray setting, which i know on some other showerheads that part can be hard to grasp. i also like the types of sprays it has, there are two settings that feel really great. however, the water pressure''s a little decreased, and the handle itself could use some grips to make it easier to hold. it''s a good showerhead but i suspect there''s better ones on this website.

The original version had a metal bracket and adjusted properly. This one is plastic and the spray adjustments do not function properly. I will be returning it.

I am a physician and a homemaker. I am always looking for safe, effective, easy ways to clean. This product has been the answer for me in the following ways:

1.) Washing fruits and vegetables. Now I am finally following Rachel Ray''s advice to wash everything when I bring it home from the grocery store. I pile in as much as the bowl (included with the system) will hold and rinse it briefly under the faucet to remove loose dirt. Then I fill the bowl with cool tap water and place it on the base. As I write this, I am processing 5 avocados, 4 tomatoes, and 2 peaches in the bowl. The cleaning cycle takes about 4 minutes, then you leave the produce in the water for another two minutes. The base unit counts down the time so you know when you''re done. Finally, I use the bowl''s lid, which has a built-in strainer, to drain the bowl.

There are a number of advantages to this method of washing produce. For me, the most important one is that I know that the produce is truly clean when the final beeper goes off. In the past I was never sure when I could stop rinsing my produce. This method is also a time-saver, since I can wash quite a bit of produce in each batch, and I can do other things while it is processing. Washing the produce when I bring it home from the store also makes it last longer, because the bacteria which cause decay are destroyed. Additionally, when I drain the water from the bowl into my sink, the super-oxygenated water helps to sanitize the sink. Finally, I don''t have to wash the bowl, because it is sanitized with each use.

2.) Sanitizing my kids'' orthodontic retainers, and the family''s various toothbrushes, nail clippers, nail files, etc. I use the bowl for this. I wish I had had this when my kids were babies, because according to the instruction book it can be used to sanitize pacifiers, baby toys, and other baby paraphernalia.

3.) Sanitizing my kids'' shower shoes and gear when they get back from camp or a field trip. I use the spray bottle, which is included with the system, for this. First I rinse the gear in my utility sink or with the hose outside. Then I fill the spray bottle with cool tap water. I place the bottle on the base, and start the processing cycle which takes about 2 minutes. Then you have 15 minutes to use the super-oxygenated water, after which it starts to break down into oxygen and water. The base unit counts down the 15 minutes, so you know when your time is up. I spray everything and let it dry in the sun.

There are several advantages to this method of sanitizing gear over my old way of using bleach and other cleaners. First, it is extremely effective. Second, there is no residue left on the gear (again, the super-oxygenated water breaks down into oxygen and water), so there is no rinsing. And third, I do not have to wear gloves.

4.) Cleaning my refrigerator inside and out. I use the spray bottle for this. I especially love the fact that no residue is left in the refrigerator, and there is no odd cleaning-product smell either.

5.) Kitchen countertops, sink, and cabinets. I have an under-mounted sink, and the thought of all the bacteria growing in the space between the countertop and the sink used to really bother me. In the past, I would fill my sink with hot water and bleach, but now I use the spray bottle. It is quick and easy, requires no rinsing, and there is no bleach smell or concern about getting bleach on my clothes. Plus there is a strong environmental benefit to avoiding bleach and the plastic bottles that bleach comes in.

6.) Bathrooms. In the past I used cleaning products that smelled terrible and that warn you to only use them in a well-ventilated area. It made bathroom-cleaning a dreaded chore. Now I use the spray bottle, and the job is quick and easy. I live in Florida, where mold and mildew are a big problem in the bathroom. We have had a particular problem with mildew growing in the toilet tanks (up where the flush mechanism is). This has been difficult to keep under control in the past, because bleach damages the rubber portions of the flush mechanism. The super-oxygenated water has not caused any damage, but has been extremely effective against the mildew.

I like the fact that no residue is left behind on surfaces, and the bathroom is truly sanitized. I will also note that although I have arthritis in my hands, the spray bottle is easy to use.

Other reviewers have mentioned getting an error code when trying to use the Lotus system. I have also had error codes in two situations, but I figured out how to deal with them.

The first error code I have encountered occurs when there is no water in the base. During processing, water circulates between the base and the attachment you have chosen (either the bowl or the spray bottle). Between uses, clean water remains in the base unit. However, when you are first starting out, or if you have emptied the base unit, it takes time to get water into the base unit. This is when I have had an F4 error code. I remove the attachment, fill the blue reservoir on the base with water, and then put the empty bowl on the base unit. Using a large measuring cup, I pour cool tap water directly over the valve system in the bottom of the bowl to get water to go through the valve into the base. Then I turn on the processing cycle and see if it will go. If not, I repeat these steps until it does. Normally you do not have to worry about this, because clean water will be left in the base between uses.

The second situation where I have encountered an error code is when washing fruits that shed tiny seeds or hairs, such as raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and kiwi. I belive that there must be a sensor in the base that reads the water as dirty, and halts the processing. Even when I pre-rinsed these fruits, I still got an error code because you can''t get rid of all the tiny seeds and hairs. I dealt with this situation by emptying the "dirty" water out of the base. Next, I get clean water into the base as described in the previous paragraph. Then I put clean water in the bowl and process it in the usual way. At the end of the processing cycle, I remove the bowl from the base and add the fruit to it. I let the fruit sit in there for two minutes before draining. This way, no seeds or hairs circulate through the base to create problems. This is actually the method that the instruction book suggests for meat, poultry, and seafood.

I highly recommend this product, and plan to give it to family members as Christmas gifts. Please note that I am not associated in any way with the company that makes this product.

Buy Tersano lotus LBU100 Sanitizing System Now

I first learned of the Tersano Sanitizer in the January 2008 issue of "Fine Cooking", in a review of this and other ozone-based cleaners by the respected scientist and author Robert Wolke. Since I eat a lot of raw fruit and salads I was interested because of all the news stories about contaminated produce (and in our industrialized food chain, a contaminated batch from one farm infects a huge amount of food). So intrigued but not in a rush to spend $150, I read thru all the posted reviews (and comments to reviews, since a company spokesman leaves comments especially on negative reviews). So why am I adding another to the pile? There are a few things nobody else has mentioned that I think are worth knowing before buying this unit.

The most important thing, of course, is does it work? I''m not a biologist so I can''t offer a professional opinion as to germ killing, but it clearly to me seems to be doing something plain water doesn''t. For example, after a dinner with wine if the glasses dry out there is a red film left that water and even soap don''t easily remove. But a spray of the Tersano-treated water and it dissolves away. It also seems to kill mold and dissolves grease splattered on the stove.

But you''ve read about cleaning elsewhere. Here are the new observations. First, if you''re planning on using this, figure its going to take some extra time. For example, you come home with some fruit, some lettuce and salad fixings. The Tersano comes with a large bowl for cleaning food, but it might hold 6 or 7 apples. So wash those, then repeat with the next fruit, then the lettuce stuff. Each cycle takes 2-3 minutes to prepare the bowl water and then its supposed to sit for 2 more minutes, then drain/dry and put the items away. Each cycle takes me 5-6 minutes, so I can spend 15 minutes just getting stuff cleaned and put away. Granted its now clean and wasn''t before so that''s valuable, but you should ask yourself if you''re going to commit this time each time you bring home groceries. To me it''s worth it.

Also while cleaning food its easy to end up with a bunch of bowls on your counter. The Tersano unit will tell you if the water isn''t clean at the end of the cycle, so you really need to rinse lettuce, parsley, etc. well before using the unit. Its an eye-opener to find out how much dirt is in stuff that looks clean and that you''ve just run under the tap (which is how I used to clean greens before); I find I need to dunk it in a bowl of water and swirl, often 2 bowls worth, before the food is really clean. And you''ll probably want a salad spinner out too so you can dry the lettuce before putting it away, otherwise it''ll get moldy. So that''s another bowl on the counter in addition to the Tersano unit. Bottom line is the unit really does sanitize food and you''re putting it away clean, but its taking some time and effort.

As for cleaning, I really LIKE that I can spray it around my kitchen and not worry about splattering any knives or things in the drying rack, or on the sink in my bathroom without having to first move toothbrushes and so on. Read the label on cleaners and you''ll understand why splatter isn''t a good idea with chemical spray cleaners. But again, there''s a catch. The bottle of 409 isn''t that big and is right there under the sink. With the Tersano the ozone water only keeps for 15 minutes, so you need a fresh bottle each time you''re going to use it. It only takes the unit about a minute to prepare the spray bottle, which is faster than the food bowl. But the Tersano isn''t small, so be sure your kitchen has room letting you put it somewhere where you can get to it quickly. If you have to unstack and move a bunch of things, you may be less willing to pull it out when you should be using it.

One bonus not mentioned in the literature is that the water seems to be purified by the machine so it doesn''t leave spots when it dries. I was spraying my sink and was quickly getting tired of drying the chrome faucet, so I decided to just let it go. To my surprise when the mist dried the chrome didn''t have spots. I''m just using ordinary tap water that usually leaves spots, so I''m curious to hear if other people are getting spot-free drying also.

While the literature says it can replace harsher cleaners, I tried it and it doesn''t always work. On some dirt spots the treated water didn''t really allow them to come that clean even with some scrubbing, but when I hit it with 409 the spots dissolved right away. This has only been in a few places, most others the Tersano water does a great job, but I wouldn''t throw away all your other cleaners until you''ve found out whats going to work for you.

Lastly, if you look at the pictures on the amazon site they show it with a mesh holding the fruit under the water. You need it because apples and other fruit tend to float, lettuce bobs above the surface, etc. That mesh is NOT included with the unit you buy. Since I read thru the reviews, I knew the company would send me one free if I called and they were really nice and did just that.

To sum up, I''m glad I got this. I use it a lot. I''m happy to be using it when I can instead of harsher chemicals.

I read the review of Ed G of San Jose, California with interest. The reviewer is correct that ozone kills bacteria and can cause chemical reactions such as converting bromide to bromate, a potential carcinogen. However, the conversion of bromide to bromate is pH dependent, and also dependent on the amount of available ozone and bromide present in the water. I have personally tested the Lotus systems for bacterial killing, pesticide removal, bromate formation and ozone production. Analysis of pesticide removal and bromate formation was conducted by a private independent laboratory. Known amounts of bromide added to the water before Lotus treatment. Analytical analysis revealed little if any formation of bromate during the Lotus ozonation process and subsequent removal if present, of bromate through the filtration of the water. Moreover, the water after Lotus treatment was superior when compared to the water used before Lotus treatment.

...since there have been mixed experiences with this product, I waited until I had owned the sanitizer for a while before I wrote a review. I have had the system for 9 months now, and absolutely love it. There have only been 2 times where I have had an error (I believe it was an F1, though I can''t remember exactly) that was due to the machine needing one more cycle to complete the sanitization (I was sanitizing store-bought apples at the time) I emptied the bowl, filled it with fresh water, and the cycle completed itself. The vast majority of the time the machine completes its cycle the first time. The food feels and smells squeaky clean after the sanitizing process, and tastes terrific.

The spray bottle attachment has been a particularly pleasant surprise I haven''t need to use chemical cleaners at all. The super-oxygenated water simply dissolves dirt and grime on contact, and has removed spots in the carpet as well. It makes a good deodorizer for upholstery as well.

This is truly a terric product in so many ways it''s effective, safe, environmentally friendly and one of the most "important" appliances I own for my health. Highly recommended!

UPDATE Jan 2008:

OK, I''ve now had my Lotus for close to 1 1/2 years, and I happy to report I still use it and am glad I bought it. Actually, sometimes I wish I didn''t buy it because I hesitate to eat non-Lotused food, wondering what icky pesticides are lurking there!! It still works great, although the spray bottle is not the best sprayer and I''ve noticed sometimes some gunk gets caught in the blue wheel at the bottom of my bowl, which can be difficult to remove (push in the wheel, turn the bowl upside down and run it under water is what works for me) It can be a bit time consuming sanitizing all of your food, so I usually run one bowl of water and then dip items in there for about 30 seconds at a time -if I have a lot or if the water gets dirty, I may do a second bowl. Not sure if this gets everything 100% sanitized, but I figure it''s close enough, and I don''t have to run things multiple times and/or worry about waterlogged fruit or lettuce.

I don''t use it for household cleaning all that much -I just haven''t been all that impressed with that aspect, and the 15 minute limit is inconvenient. Also, it''s a hassle to brew up a bottle for a quick clean up. I have used it at times to clean up after raw meat or poulty and it''s nice to spray water not chemicals around food, on cutting boards, etc.

Now that the price has dropped by about $50 from what I paid, I think it is a better value, too.

Lastly, I haven''t replaced the cartridge (primarily because I can''t find them in a store and S&H makes buying online rather expensive) and it still works. So, in my mind, that is pretty much useless and I don''t plan to buy one unless my Lotus stops working.

-------

Original review:

I was undecided about purchasing this due to the cost and after reading the mixed reviews... but finally gave in. The unit seems to work fine and appears well made. I''ve only had to re-process one batch to date due to the F1 error (I guess my oranges were extra dirty!).

The biggest question mark to me is, does this thing really work? I have to assume so, but honestly, I have no idea. Food looks the same before/after sanitizing. If you''re expecting stains or mildew to instantly disappear, it''s not going to happen. You still have to wipe or scrub. Things might be "sanitized" but they''re not necessarily "clean" to your eyes unless you wipe, spray again, wipe some more, etc. At least with bleach, you can see the cleaning before your eyes.

Assuming it really works, I think this is a fabulous product. But I only give it 3 stars because 1) you can''t "see" it clean; 2) the high price and 3) some general disappointments. For example, most fruits float in water, so the top part doesn''t get sanitized. The bowl should''ve been designed with something to press the fruit under the surface of the water. Also, you have to replace the booster cartridge ($6) every 3 months, which adds up -this was unclear when I bought the product.

SS-780SA Single Serve Brewing System Save 31% Off

SS-780SA Single Serve Brewing SystemI read a number of these reviews. The horror stories about these machines working and then ceasing to work were more than enough for me to steer clear. When the office I work at bought one of these machines, I figured that this would be my chance to find out just how well this machine worked without having any personal finances in play. Let''s face it, these machines are an investment. This machine was so much fun to use, just about everyone in the office jumped on board and bought some version of the K-Cup system. I was more interested in this particular model. So, I watched and waited.

Pretty soon, just like other users, the office Cuisinart ran into problems. A K-Cup would be put in the machine, the Brew button would be pressed, the machine would make sounds as if it was trying to brew, some liquid may start dripping into the cup below, but then nothing. This same problem happened to one of the co-workers who had bought this Cuisinart model for their home. The manual was referred to, troubleshooting ensued, tinkering occurred, but nothing seemed to work. One of the home Cuisinarts ended up going back to the store to be exchanged. An inquisitive co-worker at the office, however, took a straightened paper clip and started poking around. After a number of "pokes" with the paper clip in the part of the machine that is sharp and hollow that pokes into the K-Cup, the office Cuisinart was back in working order. The co-worker who had replaced their machine at home, again, ran into the same problem. The Cuisinart stopped working. Using a paper clip to clear the same part, the home machine was returned to working order.

*** I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU LOOK AT THE K-CUPS THEMSELVES ***

While this may not apply to everyone who is running into problems with this Cuisinart model, this may help some of you, thanks to that same paper clip wielding co-worker. And if anything, it may help if you end up purchasing this machine by avoiding one of the problems that may be plaguing others. In my case, the K-Cups come from a lower elevation than where I reside, so there is a LOT of pressure in the K-Cups. Prior to putting the K-Cup in the machine, we poke the cover of the K-Cup. I favor right in the middle where the Cuisinart machine will eventually poke the K-Cup to reduce the chance of grounds escaping through another hole under forced pressure and mucking up your expensive machine. Make sure to gently press the lid/foil of the K-Cup down to force out the excessive air. Then you use the machine just as you regularly would. Since coming across this realization and releasing the pressure in the K-Cups, the office Cuisinart machine and the various co-workers with their home Cuisinart machines have reported no more issues. Including myself. I bought one of these machines after running this field test of almost five months. I figure if I try and keep any K-Cups contents from being forced into the machine through the entry needle (the sharp hollow point) in the first place, hopefully, I won''t have clogging problems down the line. This may also keep random grounds from ending up in your cup. I''m not sure about the inner workings of this particular machine, so who knows how far interloping K-Cup contents can travel in this machine and what problems they or eventual build-up can actually lead to, but at least for me...so far, so good!

I''m not a coffee drinker at all. But this machine comes in very handy for all the coffee drinkers who visit. I don''t have to try to figure out how much to brew, remember who likes what, wait for the coffee to finish, or be stuck with a leftover pot of coffee. You select the size. There is a huge variety of flavors. It is quick. But, it is not cheap. That would be the detractor so far for the K-Cup system as a whole. Also, if you are a Hot Chocolate fan, you probably do not want to add more than 8 ounces of water. I would suspect that Hot Cider is the same. I''m not sure if this is a fad and will eventually go the way of the 8-Track tape, but at least for me...it works and works well for just what I need.

Update: The first Cuisinart (purchased for the office) has been in-use five days a week, multiple times during the day, and going strong since December 2010. It hasn''t been descaled (but probably should be) during that period, but it has been getting both regular and filtered water, so that may be pretty helpful. My personal Cuisinart (which I purchased five months after the office one) is also doing quite well. It doesn''t get used as much, but again...*knock on wood*...no problems. I really do believe if you avoid clogging your machine from the start, you have much better luck in the long run.

This coffee maker makes a great cup of coffee! I have increased my coffee consumption beyond just initial wake up and breakfast. It was kinda hard to justify the price at first, but with family encouraging me, I purchased this model from Bed Bath & Beyond with a 20% off coupon.

There was a small learning curve and adjustment to make, but it was worth it. I have many 14 and 16 oz mugs from around the world and have become used to drinking a couple of 14 oz cups each morning. However I quickly learned that even the 12 oz setting with the K-cup caused the coffee to be too weak for my taste. I settled on using the 8 oz and 10 oz settings, depending on the coffee used. The increase in flavor, taste and consistency over even the best of pot brewed coffee more than made up for the decrease in amount.

The price of the K-cups are too expensive to continue using them at the rate of 6 to 10 a day, every day, and my personal favorite coffees are not available in K-cups anyway. A a result, I use the included "make your own" filter most of the time and make my favorite coffees. This setup works great and has very consistent flavor. I have ordered the Solo-cup and EZ cup and will try them when they arrive.

My wife noted that I don''t just stand at the coffeemaker waiting on the coffee anymore. It is fast and convenient and every cup is fresh and hot like that first cup from a brewer. I can''t go back to the old way. I am glad my family urged me to get it.

I cannot believe how good this product is in combination with Keurig''s K-cup system. We''ve owned the Bosch Tassimo and loved that for the last year until we couldn''t get the descale light to go away, plus the selection was quite limited to Starbucks and Gevalia. Both good brews (not great), but in comparison to the variety of the K-cup system they look and taste paltry in comparison. Caribou Coffee is a mirror image (tastewise) of what you buy in stores and the Donut Shop blend from the Coffee People is incredible as well. For a bigger kick Emeril''s Bold and Easy is fantastic, or you can brew your own blend of whatever you like in the reusable cup which Cuisinart nailed. Coarse ground coffees fresh from Dunkin Donuts come out very weak and are not advisable, but their Turbo Hot blend sold in grocery stores brews FANTASTIC as it has a finer grind. I think you can re-grind coarse coffee in a burr grinder to get a deeper brew.

Again, if you love coffee and you love the idea of the single brew system then this Cuisinart is for you. It''s a solid machine that brews a very impressive cup of joe from a variety of vendors.

After agonizing about this purchase for a long time I finally bit the bullet and bought one. I have been through many coffee makers for various reasons, including due to wasting coffee, taking up counter space for something only I used, and just overall being a PITA. Hands down this is the best money we have invested in a kitchen appliance in many many years. The convenience of this thing cannot be beat and I am LOVING the savings over the craving to jet off in the car for a Starbucks when the mood for a coffee strikes. I have my AM/PM coffee in less than two minutes with no mess and no tossing half or more of a carafe.

Now, as the only coffee drinker in the house, this appliance makes even MORE sense to buy. My kids have loved making hot cocoa and now can do so on their own. My wife can enjoy hot tea or a chai. Instant hot water when needed. This thing can be enjoyed by everyone in our house. It''s even better for guests since everyone can have the flavor they want. Decaf? Got it. Bold? Got it. Tea? Got it. Cocoa? Sure! Hazelnut coffee? Done. Vanilla? Got that. Chai? Got that too. How can you argue? Plus, this thing is insanely quiet. Even making coffee at 3AM is super quiet (everything is louder at 3am) I am a sporadic coffee drinker and like to have some joe when the mood strikes, and this machine lets me be completely spontaneous with zero mess and even less hassle.

I do plan on being a bit more efficient with my own brew and utilize the "my K-cup" for my own grounds most of the time. But I have a hard time thinking of another kitchen appliance that can be so much fun for the entire family. My 11 year old even said she wants one when she goes to college! LOL! Awesome.

Reasons I picked this Cuisinart over the Keurig:

1. A bit shorter and it fits better under the counter.

2. I like the rinse button. Yes, I know the same thing can be done on the Keuig by doing a small brew with no K cup.

3. Built like a tank.

4. Built in water filter.

5. Biggest water tank of all models.

6. 3 Year warranty.

7. Built in storage for the reusable k-cup.

I am being realistic here and have paid attention to ALL of the negative comments on these things. I read them ALL for this model and the Keurig models. Seems a few very simple things can keep them running well and I plan on doing the following as a "each use" habit and/or routine maintenance:

1. Relieve the pressure in "poofy" k-cups by poking a small hole in the BOTTOM before inserting and closing the top. I have read in many places that this prevents dry grounds from "poofing" up into the lines when the top needle pierces the foil, and doing so ELIMINATED a lot of problems for folks.

2. Don''t let the tank run dry of water. Keep it topped off.

3. Run a rinse periodically.

4. Periodically check and clean the lower needle. (this is spelled out in the manual.)

5. Treat the unit as an expensive investment which it is.

We are also lucky that where we live hard water is not an issue, and I think the quality of water in a persons area has a lot to do with how well these (or any) coffee makers will perform long-term.

Overall we are VERY happy.

This is my third k-cup brewer. The 5 cup selection is the best! Using the 4 Oz iced settings makes very good espresso to my taste. If it were possible I would rate this as a 10 star review. My bride of 49 years like her tea strong and the 6 Oz is just right. As we are both retired we set the auto on to 07:00 and off at 22:00 (10:00 PM). We consume about 80 Oz of coffee/tea daily and the reservoir of 80 Oz only requres a daily filling most days. Crusinart got this one right even better than their grind & brew makers.

  • Replaceable Filter Cartridge Rated for 3 Months Or 3,000 Gallons

  • When Baby Grows Connect To Any Existing Shower Arm

I purchased this because we badly needed a handheld shower to bathe our infant. I went down the path of replacing the tub spout (with one that had a diverter) but too much money and labor was involved. I looked at several other products that would let you attach a handheld to a sink faucet, but each one of those had issues. I am very happy to write that the Sprite Baby Shower was the perfect solution for us. It does not leak and the quick remove adapter really works well. It only take minutes to install it. The only problem we had was that the Chlorine filter was too long for our bathroom sink (in the manual they only want you to attach it to the kitchen sink which is much deeper), So I removed the chlorine filter and just used the handheld attachment. Works great!

I would have liked to change it but it is not changeable.

Culligan S1A Level 2 20 Micron Sediment Replacement Cartridge 2 Pack
  • Fits HF-150 & HF-360
  • Medium-fine (20-micron) sediment filtration: sand, silt, dirt, rust particles and scale particles.
  • Level 2 Extra Filtration
  • Cartridge life 4 months or 16,000 gallons
  • Not recommended for use with non-treated well water supplies

It did seem odd that a filter that was described on the packaging thus:

REDUCES

Sediment

Rust

Scale

Dirt

Course Sand

Sand

and then would go on to state: This cellulose cartridge is not recommended for use with untreated well water.

One could only wonder what was left to "Treat". Called Culligan and a technical rep explained that the statement referencing "untreated" referred to treatment for bacteria. Apparently if there is bacteria in the water they love cellulose and can rapidly compromise the filter by digesting it.

I suggested to the Culligan rep that they be a bit more explicit in their disclaimer and specifically reference treatment for bacteria.

Our home water is supplied by a personal well that unfortunately comes with some brownish sediment that discolors the water and makes it taste a little too much like minerals. Completely harmless, but not very pretty, especially for company. Previously I had been looking into expensive water softeners or whole house filters in the $200+ range. Thankfully I found the little culligan whole house filter for $32 and this two pack of 20 micron filters for another $7 (so cheap!).

It''s been a week now, water is crystal clear. I like that I can see the filter through the casing, currently it has a light brown tinge so I know it''s working. Since the water has been so clear I think I''ll be sticking with the cheaper and longer lasting 20 micron filters, they''re supposed to last 4 months or 16,000 gallons, putting my total filtration costs at a cool ~$12 a year, far cheaper than my initial expectations when looking into larger carbon filters or water softeners.

I couldn''t be happier!

If you are using this for well water, please note that right on the packaging when you get itin the left hand front bottom cornerthat it should not be used for untreated well water. I am not sure what else you would use if for. I used this filter years ago when our well was new and I do not remember there being such a warning.

One might want to go to the 10 micron or finer size for well water and expect to change it more. I use the 10 micron filter from the same company and like them very much over the years. The 4.5 micron is also good but requires frequent replacement when a well is new or there is a lot of rain.

I was hoping to use this as we just put in a new well pump and there is a lot more sludge in a new installation, but I am hesitant to use it now due to the explicit warning.

I use this for my well water which has sediment that stains the toilet and accumulates in the pipes. I use this as the "gross" filter, followed by a 5 micron final filter. Works great at a lot less cost than the local store.

Keurig My K-Cup Replacement Coffee Filter Set

Keurig My K-Cup Replacement Coffee Filter Set 3 pieces in sealed pouch fits B30 B31 B40 B50 B60 B70I read a lot of reviews. This item was available at a lower price and as far as I could tell, it differed from the other Keurig K-Cup Replacement in that it was grey and not in the box.

I ordered it based on a review that said it was Keurig stamped on the lid. When it arrived, I discovered that this was indeed the case.

I imagine that this is sold at a discounted price because, like perfumes and colognes, it''s an "open box" item... meaning no box and no instructions. Fragrances sold that way have a generic box for shipping but no fancy packaging and sometimes no cap.

The bad reviews I''ve seen on the replacement filters for the Keurig simply do not apply to this Keurig product... probably because it was made by Keurig, for Keurig and meant to be quality that would instill loyalty.

1) Reviews saying the lid pops off --NOT on this one... it twists a partial turn and locks in place... there is no "popping" off while brewing.

2) Reviews saying the filter is too porous and even coarse coffee grinds come through -- NOT with this filter... you can see for yourself that the filter is extremely tight... not only in the picture, but also in the package when you see it for yourself. It is obvious by looking that a fine grind will work in this filter, and it has for me. The tightness of the filter allows the water to truly be forced through, as it should be.

3) Reviews saying that the filter is ineffective because the sides are mesh instead of just the bottom -- NOT an issue... and anyone who has used a conventional coffee maker and a permanent filter knows that the filters are mesh on the sides with a plastic bottom to hold the mesh in place and keep its shape. You have to have a frame for the mesh in order to use the mesh as a filter. Common sense. Certainly not an issue here.

4) Reviews saying the filter doesn''t seat properly -- READ all the reviews from people answering back on that one telling people to remove the insert in the Keurig that is there to hold the K-Cups in place. They also tell you that the insert holds firmly in place, so while it acts like it is not meant to be removed, that it is made to be removed and you can read that in your Keurig manual or contact the company for that same How-To information. It only makes sense that if the filter takes the place of the K-Cup and it is inserted in the grey filter holder, that you would have to remove the Keurig holder in order to properly seat this 3-piece replacement.

When in doubt, and when without, head to the Keurg website for information and support... but TO REMOVE THE KEURIG K-CUP HOLDER INSERT, the manual tells you to grasp the top while pushing the bottom up from underneath. It''s a simple as using one finger to push up. Trying to pull it out will make this far harder than it really is; it pushes out easily. Once the holder is out, you will remark, "Wow! This looks just like the replacement filter holder!" Amazingly simple. Works like a charm.

I waited on a Keurig until there was a KEURIG K-Cup Replacement Coffee Filter available... because I knew that if Keurig made one, that it would not be the cheaply made junk that so many people have complained about in their reviews.

5-star real deal.... and mine came from WildWin at a great price and shipped IMMEDIATELY! So now I ordered another for the family.

Enjoy with confidence! I am.

Updated 11DEC2012 in response to questions about the filter:

1) To reseat the original K-Cup holder, take notice of the white triangles/arrows that need to be aligned; then, slip that side''s clip in first... it''s easier to get it to lock in place due to simple physics... when you try to push down on that side last, then you discover that your force is also trying to close the whole holder/basket.

2) Some people say the coffee basket in this replacement is smaller than the K-cups and holds less coffee -NO, it does not hold less coffee, even though it is smaller than the K-cups... the reason is easily apparent if you take a K-cup apart. Inside of a K-cup is a small paper filter that is "glued" to the top; once removed, you''ll realize that it does NOT extend to the bottom... and in fact, holds the same amount of coffee as the replacement filter cup.

3) People comment that the filter should only have a mesh bottom like the K-cups -this is incorrect because, again, upon opening a K-cup, you''ll find a full paper filter, so the coffee only drains from the bottom of the plastic cup... and the plastic cup is there to keep the coffee fresh -how else could you mimic a paper filter with coffee in a traditional pot, in a single serving, AND keep it fresh??

4) People comment that the coffee grinds spill over - impossible with the Keurig replacement because the rim of the coffee filter sit ON TOP of the rim of the lower holder AND the top cap locks over top of both rims. Once the replacement holder is in the Keurig, you lower the handle and the water "needle" inserts into the opening and seals against the holder, in the very same manner as it does with K-cups.

Again, for those with comments that differ... make sure 1) you''re using it properly and 2) that you''re using a Keurig. This product matches up PERFECTLY for the Keurig because it''s made and been tested by Keurig... and it''s worked perfectly for me.

When I bought this for 1.99 + 7.99 shipping, I thought it might be a cheap imported knockoff of the Keurig My K-CUP.

It is the real thing. Even has Keurig moulded in the cap.

Total price is 9.98, Kroger has these for 14.95 and Kuerig has them for 17.95, so 9.98 is a great bargain.

They work wonderfully. Some K Cup reviews state difficulties in operating these, but the people who wrote them must have to have special class instructions on even using a ballpoint pen, as the My-K Cup is the easiest and most convenient way to make coffee.

Buy Keurig My K-Cup Replacement Coffee Filter Set Now

So my only complaint as with any Kuerig product, if you like a strong cup of coffee, the right k-cup after several trials of premium coffee might get you the strong cup of coffee but at 50 cents a cup. These my k-cup allow you to save money and trust me this is the way to go. K-cups are not recyclable so less trash too. Here''s where the trouble with these. Some of the my k cups have a tight seal along the top with the filter in. You want it to be tight for a strong cup. Reason, the coffee needs to be dark roast or espresso. It needs to be grinned pretty fine. More surface contact with coffee to water ratio. As ground coffee is put into the basket, tap if on the table to pack it in. Do not tamp it. Add until it is just below the top black rim. Because there is so much coffee in the basket, the kuerig product will struggle to force water through it and if that lid is loose even after it has been fully closed....the water and some grounds will seep out through that not so tight lid. I have two of these. One is tight and never leaks and the other is a nightmare if you are trying for the strong cup of coffee. These style of coffee pots do not spend a lot of time contacting the coffee itself. Results in a weak cup of coffee. These my k cups vs k cups is like blowing up a hot air balloon vs a balloon with your own breath. It runs right through it. The tapping technique but not tampered allows for a restricted flow and longer contact thus a stronger cup of coffee. The lid loose is like a whole in either balloon. A problem no matter which situation you have.

great to have in case you prefer a different coffee from what K-cups have to offer but still allows you to have the ability to make one single serving with little to clean up

Want Keurig My K-Cup Replacement Coffee Filter Set Discount?

I really like coffee but I don''t think I''m a coffee snob. I prefer Dunkin Donuts to Starbucks.

I received my single cup Keurig brewer for Christmas and was concerned that I would not be able to use the four pounds of coffee in my cupboard. The Keurig My K-cup had such rave reviews that I had to try it and seeing it was from the manufacturer how could I go wrong? I ordered this and was a little confused because I thought it would be 1) fill with coffee 2) insert in place of K-cup. Okay so I had to remove the original K-cup holder in order for this to fit. I did so and tried it.

The coffee tastes as good as it did in the drip coffee maker and it saves a lot of money. It won''t replace K-cups totally for me because I will open and use one bag of coffee at a time until it''s done. K-cups still let me have several kinds of coffee a day.

Why four and not five stars? Because Keurig could have inserted a little instruction sheet reminding morons like me to remove the cup holder first so the replacement will fit in.

Clover C12E Under Counter Water Chiller Save 22% Off

Clover C12E Under Counter Water ChillerI bought this to replace a broken chiller made by Waste King. The old unit had a broken compressor and fan and the parts cost plus labor exceeded the cost of this Clover C12E so I decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. The unit is slightly bigger than the one being replaced but shaped like a large block of wood so you have a flat surface on top to put things. I didn''t quite like the unfinished surface but it is meant to go inside the cabinet so it really does not matter. The hookup is a snap. I had to get the 2 quick connect connectors that would fit the 2 outlets and connect the tubing to the old connectors. The fan is a bit noisy but quieter than the old one. All in all I am very happy with this product.

Got the unit today, its intact, the box looks new and unharmed; took it out of the box, laid on the kitchen counter and noticed the chIller rocks like a see saw; its kinked, factory kinked. It seems like there is a problem with the housing not beIng square. The unit seems nice on the inside, I just hope it works once I get it installed.

RPS #DFK Waterbed Drain/Fill Kit

RPS #DFK Waterbed Drain/Fill KitProblem: waterbed needed draining. Would have simply siphoned it out the window, except that the window was on the 15th floor. Bad idea. Right-priced kit delivered promptly. Good idea. Problem solved.

I should probably disclose up front that I bought this to create a siphon for my aquarium. Those "Phython" brand siphons are ridiculously priced when one of these and some clear tubing from a local hardware store makes the same thing for 1/4 the price.

That said, this functions well as a siphon with one caveat! The plastic of which it is composed is very soft. It took only a few runs of screwing it on, siphoning/filling up and unscrewing it before the threads were stripped and started leaking something fierce. It''s better to add this to a more durable connection and seal this one up with something like plumber''s tape or pipe dope or adhesive. The plastic is just too soft for the repeated on/off that you would use this for.
