Krups XP2010 Combination Unit; 10 cup Coffee Maker & 15-bar Pump Espresso

Krups XP2010 Combination Unit; 10 cup Coffee Maker & 15-bar Pump EspressoI''ve owned the Krups XP2010, my 4th espresso machine, for about 12 weeks now, and am quite pleased with the performance to date. Initially, it took a bit of trial-and-error before I could produce an adequate espresso, but after some practice, I am easily making some of the best I''ve ever made in-house. One does have to learn proper technique, though.

Things I like include the built-in water filtration system, the internal storage for filters, the overall solid construction, the ease of cleaning, and the small footprint. Although I am not particularly fond of the coffee quality in the various ESE pods which I have so far sampled, the ESE holder works very well, and does the best that it can with what it has to work with. With regular espresso-ground coffee, the 1and the 2-shot filters work brilliantly, producing copious amounts of crema, and a shot in about 15-20 seconds.

On the coffee side, the XP2010 works quite well, producing a nice clean cup in a minimum of time. Operation of the unit is simplicity itself; coffee in a filter, filter in basket, water in reservoir, push the blue ''on'' button. The water is dispersed evenly over the grounds, while a water filter and no-drip system add to the over-all efficiency of the machine.

I have not experienced any leaking on either the coffee nor the espresso side of the machine, although the XP2010 normally does expel excess steam at certain times in its various cycles. In addition, note that the drip-tray must be emptied from time to time.

In the ''room for improvement'' category, the XP2010 should, but doesn''t, come with a 4-shot carafe and a stainless steel frothing pitcher.

The steam/frothing wand is adequate, but barely I produced better frothed milk with my old Krups Type 963.

Krups advises, and I agree, that it is important to preheat the filter, demitasse, pitchers, etc.

Overall, I am very pleased with my Krups XP2010, in terns of its functionality and construction; I am especially pleased with the quality of the espresso and coffee it consistently produces.

I was looking for a combination espresso-coffee maker to fit a specific space in the kitchen. The width and heigth of the unit had to fit within that area. There aren''t too many combo machines out there, but the Krups 2010 fits the bill perfectly. It''s very quick at producing a good espresso and the coffee maker works great too, filling a 10-cup pot in less than nine minutes. One reviewer claimed the espresso head leaked. I haven''t had that problem. Maybe he or she didn''t tighten the head enough or they''re tossing ESE pods in the filter holder without properly adjusting them. Who knows? I know you can spend a lot more for a standalone espresso machine, but for a combination espresso-coffee machine the Krups works just fine.

Searched for a long time to find a good quality espresso machine that didn''t cost over $500. We had a great workhorse Krups combo espresso coffee machine that was still working after 15 years. Was hoping this one would be the newer, more powerful, fancier model. Boy are we sorely disappointed. The coffee part works fine. Unfortunately the espresso part leaks all over from the gasket and doesn''t even produce hot espresso. I exchanged this once, hoping I just got a bad one but apparently the Krups XP2010 is designed badly. Shame on Krups for releasing a premature, untested product.

I bought this machine with reservation after reading the reviews, but for the money I couldn''t find anything comparable. I wanted a sturdy professional looking machine for way less than the $500. and over I am used to seeing for pump driven machines. After living with this machine for a couple of months now, I have to say that my experience has been nothing but positive. The coffee carafe does seem a little fragile, but almost all of them do now for some reason anyway I''m careful with it. This unit faithfully makes a couple of cups of perfect espresso every morning without any problems whatsoever. I can''t see spending more money on another machine and I highly recommend this one.

I like this product a lot, it makes good hot espresso quickly and the coffee maker works perfectly. I have not had any quality problems what so ever. You have to read the instruction booklet as the controls are not intuitive to a first time user. After you learn the how to use the machine, it becomes apparent that this is a well designed appliance and a great value for the money. I''m willing to bet that other reviewers let the pump run without water in the tank (which ruins the pump, causing leaks) and aren''t preheating the espresso side before making espresso.

GE FXSVC Dual Stage Drinking Water Filtration System Replacement Filter
  • Fits all GE SmartWater dual-stage drinking water filters
  • Also fits other brands of housings that accept 9.75 x 2.5 inch filters
  • i.e. GE GXSV10C, GNSV25CBL, GNSV30CWW, GNSV30CCC, GXSL03C, GNSL05CBL, and Culligan SY-2500
  • Interchangeable with GE FXSLC & Culligan D250 filters

I ordered GE Replacement Water Filter Set as indicated on Amazon''s product description as FXSVC Rev. 2, but the item shiped was an older model (Rev. 1) with a different looking tube. There is one green and one brown tube in the set. The brown-color filter tube looks very different between the older model and the Rev. 2. The Rev. 2''s brown-color tube has solid plastic housing while the Rev. 1''s tube that FilterFast shipped has white filter fabric outside. I understand that the brown-color tube contains charcoal filter to improve water taste. The older model allows water to flow through the surrounding surface of the charcoal tube while the Rev. 2 pushes water through the entire length of the tube, so I am assuming that Rev. 2''s method is more effective as water get pushed through more charcoal contents. Other than that the product looks and works all right.

I had the tap water tested as well as the water being filtered by the GE FXSVC by an outside testing laboratory. The tap water was found to have 7 ppm (parts per million)of lead and the filtered water tested had none.

I installed this filter several years ago and it has been fantastic. The water where we live is very hard and doesn''t taste good. This system has solved the problem.

Want GE FXSVC Dual Stage Drinking Water Filtration System Replacement Filter (VOC) Discount?

Have used this filter for a five gallon bottled water bottle for 4-5 yrs. I am on a well and donot have my water tested on a regular basis.

I use a $15.00 water tester that shows the filtered water slightly better than the tap water.

There is a red slime that comes from the primary filter of the "FXSVC" filter that remained in the canister, the "FXSLC" dubbed as the best fliter from GE had the same but only when it was new.

When I change filters, I cut the primary apart with a hack saw and discovered there was a red paper wrap. That is probably where the red slime looking stuff came from. Food for thought: is there a reason GE uses the red paper in the filters, other than for filtration?

At any rate, I continue to use the filtration unit and feel better about my drinking water because of it.

When it comes time to replace your filters you can buy them for about 1/2 of what Home Depot charges, on line. Last I used was Filters Fast, they seem to be a good company to order from.

I bought these as replacement filters for my GE under sink filtration unit. It was an easy direct swap the only downside is these filters appear to be much more restrictive than my last filters so the rate of flow is much slower. Will buy again.

Mr. Coffee BVMC-SJX33 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker

Mr. Coffee BVMC-SJX33 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Brushed ChromeI replaced my Cuisinart with this about two months ago and found it to be as advertised and reflective of most of the other reviews. Attractive unit that brews an excellent pot of coffee. I retired 13 years ago from the Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. I like a good cup of Joe that can be construed as a bit strong. My wife enjoys her coffee at a more civilized and nonnuclear level. This machine accommodates both. It does have one minor flaw in that the pot dribbles a bit when pouring. This small flaw can, however, be mitigated by thumbing open the lid while pouring your coffee.

This coffee maker works very well, especially as a replacement to two cheaper coffee makers that I had before that leaked, and the price is unbeatable.

This model SJX33GT is the simpler version of BVMC-SJX33GT; without the cleaning cyle option. This model does have the option of using the metal decanter which is sold separately. I intend to buy the metal decanter or replacement glass carafe, because every time I pour a cup of coffee; it drips on the counter. Other members of the household have commented on this, so it is not just how I am pouring it.

Except for this leaking problem, the coffemaker is ideal in everyway. It''s a shame.

AquaSaver Gravity Rainwater Recovery System Save 30% Off

AquaSaver Gravity Rainwater Recovery SystemThe Algreen water barrels are pretty well-liked Canadian products, not cheap, but also well-made and reasonably aesthetic (unlike many of the repurposed 55 gallon drums out there). This kit includes the parts needed to hook up to the drainage off of a roof. Should be easy enough to adapt this kit for other rain barrels. Depending on your setup, you might be better off financially with parts from your local hardware store though.

This is a cheap plastic system that has spent more time laying on the ground after it''s fallen than it does up on my gutter system. The hose is nice, but even with the screws, the adapters are a poor fit for my downspouts. The filter/screen is the flat square in the photo that you''re supposed to curl into a tube and place in the top of the downspout to keep out debris it blew out with the first breeze that caught it my dog ate it and that''s probably the most useful thing I can say about it. Look for a different system, or if you''re mechanically inclined, go to your local home hardware store and build your own system. I''ll be cutting my downspouts down to a length where they stop just above my rainbarrelwithout an unsightly mess that constantly needs attention.

Buy AquaSaver Gravity Rainwater Recovery System Now

Pros:

relatively inexpensive

easy to install if you have the right downspout size

helps to save water

Cons:

does not fit the common 3"x4" downspout size

clogs easily with small debris which falls through the leaf gutter

difficult to clean once it is clogged

the leaf guard is completely useless

Other thoughts:

I did not read the product description carefully so I had to replace my 3x4 downspout by a 2x3 downspout which was a lot more work than I thought when I bought this product (one star deduction). Then it becomes clogged every spring with the small flower leaves from the trees. Once it is clogged, the water comes out where it is connected to the downspout and the water runs down the wall. You have to check periodically if there is anything clogged (one star discount). You have also to disassemble it completely for cleaning. Overall it is a good concept and saves you a lot on your water bill. But it would be a really great product if it would fit a 3x4 downspout and if it would not become clogged so often. I think if the water splitter could be removed, then all the water would go into the rain barrel. All rain barrels have a overflow outlet so there is no problem if the barrel is filled.

Read Best Reviews of AquaSaver Gravity Rainwater Recovery System Here

Not really sure what to think about this. All the downspouts in my local hardware stores are the same size and that size is substantially larger than the attachments included with this kit. There is no way to attach this system inline with my downspout, as it''s supposed to be.

I rigged it so it works, after a fashion, but I defintiely won''t be screwing up any more of my downspouts.

... and you will see this only filters out NSF 42. What does this mean? Here are the definitions of water filtration standards:

NSF/ANSI Standard 42: Drinking Water Treatment Units Aesthetic Effects

Overview: This standard covers point-of-use (POU) and point-of-entry (POE) systems designed to reduce specific aesthetic or non-health-related contaminants (chlorine, taste and odor, and particulates) that may be present in public or private drinking water.

NSF/ANSI Standard 53: Drinking Water Treatment Units Health Effects

Overview: Standard 53 addresses point-of-use (POU) and point-of-entry (POE) systems designed to reduce specific health-related contaminants, such as Cryptosporidium, Giardia, lead, volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), MTBE (methyl tertiary-butyl ether), that may be present in public or private drinking water.

Basically, this does not filter out the most dangerous eliminates of drinking water including Cryptosporidium, Giardia, lead, volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), MTBE (methyl tertiary-butyl ether. No wonder it lasts a lifetime. Think about it.

I actually purchased this for half the price at one of the shopping chanels (hint hint). Same exact one I kid you not!! Anywho, water tastes...well clean and pure! I am so happy I dont have to worry about replacement filters for a looong time! I had just purchased the PUR brand and it just doesnt tast as good as with this filter and supposedly it cleans out more particules, this just makes me question wether or not any water filter companies are being truthful?? I just need to trust my instinct and in this case taste buds...the proof is in the pudding.

I have used many water filters. The last three have been the PUR 3-Stage Vertical Faucet filter, the piece that is supplied to attach to the faucet is junk-junk. I feel cheated and angry for paying for something that has ended up in the landfill.

This unit sits out of the way without interfering with the faucet. It also makes it easy to fill water pitcher. The best part is that you dont have to change the filter every two three months.

This thing was a bite to install. The metal locking ring popped out and I was fortunate enough to finally manage to get it put back in place. It was also necessary to use the square-profile washer rather than the standard round one. After finally getting it installed, it works fine with no leaks. The water tasted strange for a while because I was used to the chemical tang from the city water, but now it tastes great. And I''m happy not to have to play with replacing filters. I did a calculation and, at a half gallon a day, this thing should last me the rest of my life . . . Recommended, but only if you are handy with tools ;-)

Rainbow E Series Canister Vacuum Cleaner Wet / Dry

Rainbow E Series Canister Vacuum Cleaner Wet / DryI''ve owned this vacuum for over 12-15 years. My parents got it for me when I was in high school after we discovered I had dust allergies (in addition to asthma). I have toted it around everywhere I''ve lived in college and beyond--in various apartments, houses, etc--and it has held up *excellently.* Needless to say, I wasn''t always very cautious with it (bang it around a little through all the moves, or when I''m cleaning and pulling the canister/base around) and it has withstood it all. I''m 30 now and married, and even though my husband gripes about how it''s less ''convenient'' than a regular vacuum, I LOVE it and will never use anything else because:

1--for a person with allergies, this vacuum is a god-send. I''m so used to it I almost gag every time I use another vacuum (at someone else''s place) because other vacuums send out dust in the exhaust, and don''t trap it immediately in water like this vacuum.

2--Even though my parents paid a lot for it, it has totally withstood the test of time and is made of very high-quality material. Not one thing has broken, rusted, chipped, worn, or anything in this last decade! That says a lot in this age of built-in-obsolescence!!

3--the wheels are great--they move 360 degrees and make it *very* easy to pull this thing around. The cord is also durable and long, so you can take it pretty far without having to find a new outlet.

4--I *love* that it''s environmentally low-impact--no bags to purchase (ie, no packaging, no gas used to transport) that then fill up landfills! Just dump it all down the toilet.

5--the little accessories/different heads it comes with are great. I''ve been careful and haven''t lost any of them, and they reach every nook and cranny.

I should also note that I''ve been very good with its upkeep--I wipe the rubber interior down every time with a towel (so it doesn''t crack) and I *never* store it with a damp canister attached--that can also crack the rubber. I''ve also brushed the little motor part inside like you''re supposed to so it doesn''t get clogged.

My only wish is that I had the special parts to suck up water spills.

Overall, this thing, now that I think about it, is like a trusty best friend. A big investment, yes, but if you take care of it and keep up the maintenance, it might just last a lifetime!

I would have to say that this is a very heavy vacuum. It does weight about ten to fifteen pounds. "BUT" what this vacuum does, is worth the weight. I have alergies and this is a life saver. I couldn''t seem to get rid of dust or pet dander, but when I use this vacuum it takes what was in the air and puts it into water. The suction is amazing. I see things in the water that I didn''t even know was there. It really does the work for a DEEP clean. Yes it isn''t something you use when you are doing daily cleaning, but when it comes to needing to get things clean this vacuum does the job. The best.

Buy Rainbow E Series Canister Vacuum Cleaner Wet / Dry Now

Pros:

-When you use a conventional vacuum cleaner, you see dust blown all over especially if you look with the sun rays streaming through your window. You see a much big difference using this vac. One of our sons have bad allergies and this helps a lot.

-You not only see the difference, you also feel that you are breathing much cleaner air.

-No expensive bags to buy

Cons:

-It is heavy as a bulldozer. Imagine hauling it up and down the stairs. This is the reason we use this vac not as often as our other regular vac. My wife has to call me to help tugging it along.

-Price too much! We got it half price, but probably we still paid too much.

-Maneuverability. Annoying and it really needs some muscle to work with it.

-You also need to clean the vacuum every single time you use it. No, you cannot wait until the bag is full there is no bag. It has a canister that you fill halfway with water and if you do not clean after each use, it grows bacteria and smells like a dead skunk. Believe me, we have done that.

-It is a hassle to use. Need assembly every time you use it.

-So loud

This is the best "vacuum" I have ever used. While I agree it is noisy and not the most fun to take upstairs, I have never had a house as clean as when I used it.

It was heavy but I used it daily to vac the floors, get the daily cobwebs, and clean the dust out of the air from our 100yo farm house on a horse farm. The first thing I noticed, within the first month of using it, I no longer needed to dust weekly. I only needed to wash my cotton curtains once a quarter and the hardwood floors UNDER my area rugs stayed clean! NO more lifting, rolling and unrolling! I started to use it to vac our pillows and beds weekly. My mattress actually got LIGHTER and easier to turn. I could do a weekly clean in our 1,300 sq ft 3bd house in under 1.5 hours! washing kitchen and dining room floors, BEDS and Pillows included! talk about more fun time on your weekends!

This is one of those things that the more you use it the easier and faster and more thorough you can be. You don''t feel you are moving the same dirt day after day never seeming to get ahead. When it cleans, you know it is clean.

Want Rainbow E Series Canister Vacuum Cleaner Wet / Dry Discount?

Brilliant concept in a multi use vacuum cleaner and it does it''s job. However it is heavy and scrubbing ceramic tile flooes is not easy when you have a bad back. Would have been better if brush attachment to clean ceramic tile floors had rotating brushes to make the job easier. This detail would have made the price of this vacuum worth it.

1 Gallon Goof Off Rust Stain Remover GSX00101 Save 80% Off

1 Gallon Goof Off Rust Stain Remover GSX00101I just purchased this product today and used it on the side of our house where the sprinkler had really messed up our white trim. I poured the entire gallon into my pressure sprayer and went to work. The rust began dissapearing in seconds. I was skeptical and waited to see if it would come back but it didn''t. I sprayed our trim, the siding, the plastic lattice strips and the rust just dissolved right away.

I still have more to do so I am purchasing another gallon but this stuff is tremendous.

I''ve struggled with rust buildup on my driveway and sidewalks for 8 years. The amount of iron in my well water is huge and cleaning it is a monthly task all summer long. I normally make up a mixture of Ironout and water (1 cup per gallon) and this does a reasonable job. With RustAid there is no mixing and the solution not only disolves all the rust it adds a whitening effect to the concrete that eventually washes away. I highly recommend this product.

Buy 1 Gallon Goof Off Rust Stain Remover GSX00101 Now

I used this on concrete on a home built in 2010. I didn''t know I had to sweep away scott''s fertilizer off of concrete so it ended up leaving prange rusts stains from the iron in the fertilizer on the concrete after our sprinkler''s water mixed with the fertilizer causing the stains. Bought this product based on the reviews. This product did make the concrete white but didn''t do anything to the orange rust stains like described. I used as directed and even used a hard steel bristle brush to scrub the orange stains out with this product but it did not work. A problem that I had after using this product was that certain parts of my driveway were left white and the parts that none of this was used on left dirty so i suggest buying a considerable amount for application if you plan on just whitening your concrete. I would suggest in looking into muriatic acid also called hydrochloric acid for orange rust stains as which I am doing of right now. There is a youtube video just youtube how to etch concrete video 2 i believe and watch it and also search on how to use muriatic acid on concrete and there are different websites that have tutorials. Do it the right way the first time though and it will save you time. my first application of muriatic acid i didn''t neutralize it. it did take off the rust stains but since i didn''t neutralize it it left the concrete a brown color which means the concrete still has the acid on it neutralizing it with baking powder and water to a safer ph level will make it white. i learned the hard way don''t forget to use protective gear and a watering can to spread it evenly over concrete and be sure to keep the diluted muriatic acid wet until neutralization. a pressure washer from home depot with 1800 psi and 1.4 gpm worked just fine for me.

The product does wonders on rust and hard water build up. I use it on the tub and toilets and it makes all the stains disappear.

Want 1 Gallon Goof Off Rust Stain Remover GSX00101 Discount?

I was skeptical about the product working as well as advertised, but it worked great removing rust stains from white vinyl siding with no elbow grease needed. Just spray on and wait about 3 to five minutes and the stain disappears via a chemical reaction, then use a garden hose to rinse down the area. There are a few warnings on the bottle to wet shrubs before and after using the product near them, wearing rubber gloves and eye protection(product contains an acid). You should avoid wetting the siding before using the product, the siding near the shrubs got wet and the product did not work as quickly in that area, so I waited for it to dry and reapplied and it worked great. I have no reservations about recommending this product and will buy it again.

Brita Riviera Water Pitcher Save 14% Off

Brita Chrome Water Filter PitcherThe Brita system is the best I''ve seen for home filtration. The water tastes pure and clean. I would recommend this for anyone and the savings over bottled water is astounding. In many cases, it even tastes better.

Contrary to advertisement, this system is very quick and easy. We are giving this as gifts to our family this year for Christmas.

I live in military housing that''s been around since WW2. Even though they''ve FINALLY decided to get around to changing the water pipes, I''m still not too thrilled about drinking the tap water.

Anyways, for the past few years, my family has been using bottled water. I estimate that we easily spent about 1/2 a grand on it a year. On just WATER!!!

At the store, I came across one of these and decided to give it a try and I''m so glad I did!

For one thing, the product itself is not that expensive, and maintaining it is cheap since you only need to replace the $3-$4 filter every 4 weeks.

I was so impressed with it, I rushed out and bought a 2nd, so I could have one pitcher for the refrigerator and the other available at the counter.

I really like the filter replacement indicater on it. It''s easy to set and with how busy my life gets, buying filters is the last thing on my mind. So, it''s nice having this there as a reminder.

I also like that it''s dishwasher safe. (except for the top part, due to the filter replacement indicater-but that can be easily hand washed) So, every few days, I just put it through the dishwasher and it gets it nice and clean.

The only drawback is that it''s hard for my grade school and pre school kids to use, so it''s not very kid friendly. So, I have to pour for them every time they''re thirsty, but it''s not a big deal to me, so I won''t dock any stars from my rating.

I highly recommend this for anyone who won''t drink tap water!

I have owned this pitcher for over a year and have never had a problem with it leaking.

Read Best Reviews of Brita Riviera Water Pitcher Here

Sharp design, only problem is they put form over function when designing it. First problem, if the water hasn''t drained completely from the upper (non filtered) basin, and you try and pour the pitcher, the unfiltered water pours out with the filtered water. Second problem, when you fill it up, if you let the water overflow the basin, the first thing it does is drain into the filtered basin. In the older round designs, the upper basin was water tight with the lid on, so you could pour out filtered water before the upper basin was empty. If you overflowed the upper basin the water would got over the side and not into the filtered basin. This allowed the user to set it under the sink and not have to stand there for 30 second to shut off the water. They took a definite step backwards with this design. It''s really amazing that in the year 2005, such bad product design is still making to the store shelves.

Want Brita Riviera Water Pitcher Discount?

Other reviewers have said the same but I will reiterate:

--Filter timer is a joke. It only counts time, not gallons filtered. I don''t need this because we already own several calendars.

--Sectional lid must have been designed by the marketing department. They fit together awkwardly and fall off easily. If you try to pour a class of water with even a little still left in the upper chamber, the whole assembly falls apart as you are pouring.

--Lower compartment easily contaminated by unfiltered water.

--My unit grows ALGAE in it after about 10 days. You would think that I must leave it on a sunny window sill, but I don''t. It lives on the kitchen counter and I live in the Pacific Northwest where it is cloudy 9 months out of the year. So, anyway, the unit has to go in the dishwasher once a week (hand washing doesn''t cut it....algae grows right back). Previous Brita (we''ve had many) and PUR pitchers did not have this problem.

As a consumer I want to ask: What is so friggin hard about designing a decent water pitcher for cripes sake?!!!

Generally this pitcher demonstrates what is wrong with so many companies that make consumer products. They pay damn little attention to engineering a good product and put all their effort into giving it "purchase appeal" and marketing it.

Try something else.

pureguardian H2000 100-Hour Ultrasonic Humidifier Save 40% Off

pureguardian H2000 100-Hour Ultrasonic HumidifierThe Germ Guardian H-2000 is the best ultrasonic humidifier I''ve seen in a decade. But that only means that it works. The humidifier is well-crafted but thoughtlessly designed. I was pleased with a couple of ultrasonics that I had years ago. When their motors eventually died and I needed replacements, I found that ultrasonic humidifiers had all but disappeared from the market by the mid-1990s. So I bought evaporative humidifiers instead. The trouble with evaporatives is that they require a wick, which molds easily and pervasively and must be replaced at least every two weeks. That''s expensive. It costs me $150 per year to run each of my evaporative humidifiers. I''d rather have ultrasonics, which are less prone to mold, less expensive to operate, and quieter. When ultrasonic humidifiers reappeared on the market a few years ago, I bought some....and returned them all. They broke within weeks and left puddles on the floor.

This brings me to the Germ Guardian H-2000. If you want an ultrasonic humidifier that isn''t fit for the trash, you have to pay more than $100. This H-2000 seems to be well-made. Happily, you can set it directly on the floor if you like. I have run it for days sitting on hardwood, and the floor is not even damp. There are little compartments for storing the power cord and for the air filter. A small brush is provided for cleaning the inside of the unit, though I don''t know what use it would be. The humidifier barely makes a sound. The controls are straightforward. You choose cool or warm mist, then turn the humidity dial to the level of output you desire. A blue LED lights when the power is on, and a red LED indicates when the tank needs refilling. I''ve never had any trouble with white dust from this humidifier.

On the downside, the 1.4 gallon tank has a handle only on top, so it is difficult to balance the tank to fill it from the bottom. It''s also rounded on top, so you can''t set the tank down to fill it either. Remember the days when all humidifier tanks were flat on both ends and had a handle on each for ease of filling? No more. Usually ultrasonic humidifiers are easy to clean if they should mold, because all the innards are exposed. But the H-2000 has an optional warm mist, so water passes through a concealed channel as it goes from the tank to the vibrating disc, where it is presumably exposed to heating coils. You could run ammonia through the channel to kill mold, but there would be no way to remove slime. The tank is infused with silver nanoparticles to retard microbe growth, but machine''s body isn''t. Strange, because mold growth in humidifiers never starts in the tank. The on/off knob would benefit from some ridges. It''s so smooth that I can''t grip it unless my hands are perfectly dry.

The Germ Guardian H-2000 takes 30 hours to empty the 1.4 gallon tank with the humidifier set on its highest output. That''s an output of 0.047 gallons of water per hour. My evaporative humidifiers put 0.083 gallons per hour into the air, nearly twice as much. For this reason, the H-2000 is best suited to a small bedroom, placed close to the bed. In the "warm" mode, the water is heated to 80 degrees F. The mist is warm in the base, the column (spout guide), and where it comes out of the spout. But by the time it gets a couple of inches from the machine, the mist is cool. So I see little point in the warm mist feature. If you want an ultrasonic humidifier, I won''t try to dissuade you from this one. In spite of its deficiencies, it''s the best one I''ve found in recent years. But it''s only suitable for small rooms.

First, let me say that mirasreviews review was extremely accurate. With that said, I give this machine 3 stars because there is no warm mist. As already mentioned, by the time the mist is one inch away from the machine it is cold, so, what''s the point? Basically, this is a cold mist machine, and you should know that before you buy it. If you have anything within a foot of the spray, it will get soaked, especially if if you have selected the max setting. The directional spray is pretty good, however, I find it works best if the machine is a couple of feet off of the ground. It does not seem to force the humidified air far enough, so I set it on a table, and that does the trick. So far, we have not had any puddles or leaks of any kind. It is very quiet. Water capacity is good at 1.4 gallons, and does run for a long time if it is not on its maximum setting. We bought this because my daughter has croup and our pediatrician recommended trying a dehumidifier. We bought this one without much recommendation, mostly because the others (evaporative) we had broke. We have not had to give our daughter any of the steroid the doctor had prescribed, and she seems to be getting better (though we also let the steam build up with a hot shower running, and stay with her in there for 10-20 minutes). I do think this machine helps. My main reasons for only three stars are the lack of a true warm mist and the price. Oh, I should also note that it starts right away, no waiting. If I could, I would give it 3.5 stars. Again, I have to agree with another review, this is probably the best out there. I am satisfied (I have not been able to say that about other brands), however, I am not thrilled.

I have asthma and allergies and have been looking high and low for a humidifier that does not breed mold, as so many of them do. So I splurged on this expensive digital model. I also wanted a reliable humidifier for my toddler''s room, in order to prevent wintertime coughs and colds.

Unfortunately, this humidifier is a great disappointment. It does not live up to its claims of being mold-free; quite to the contrary, the long air passage tube grew reddish mold very quickly. Water also inexplicably collects in the bottom white basin. I called the company to resolve the numerous problems with the humidifier, yet they did not give me satisfactory explanations (e.g., they told me that the water collection is normal, yet why should water collect in the basin of the humidifier? Isn''t that a prescription for mold growth?) Plus, as a previous poster noted, the screw holding one of the major components quickly rusted. I wish I had not spent so much money on this humidifier. I have returned to using the Vicks Warm Mist humidifier, which I used last winter and really liked, and only costs around $40.

I like this humidifier because you can get your whole hand into the tank to wipe off any mold that accumulates. My previous humidifier had a tank with a tiny hole, so once mold got in there the whole thing had to be thrown in the garbage.

This is a wonderful product. We run it every night and love it. One tank lasts about three nights. Easy to fill tank. Easy to figure out how to work--definitely user friendly. I''m a huge believer that this product helps to keep us from getting sick. The only problem I had was in the beginning I placed it on a folded towel and the humidifier would cut off after about an hour or so. I tried placing only one thickness of towel and it worked perfectly. I figure it was not level on the folded towel, therefore, automatically cutting off. The instructions didn''t say anything about this. Product cleans itself which is an extra plus.

Sprite Royale Deluxe Hand Held Chrome Chlorine Removing Shower Filter

Sprite Royale Deluxe Hand Held Chrome Chlorine Removing Shower FilterThis is made of PLASTIC not chrome...

The part that holds the shower head arm broke the second time I used the shower... We got two the one in the guest bath is looser so that one is okay... The one that broke in our master bath was a lot tighter, and I went to adjust it and it just snapped. My husband went to Home Depot and got a new generic attachment for about $7, so it''s fine... except that this says "chrome" which is nothing more than a cheap decal over plastic... Nowhere here or on any site that sells this is that made clear.

For less money, next time I''d get the other brand w/ the charcoal filter...which is also PLASTIC... but at least for less money!

I also have to agree w/ another reivewer of the charcoal filters... unless you have an alergy or really sensitive skin, the filter isn''t going to do too much that is noticable... my hair comes out pretty much the same (on the dry frizzy side until I get product in it and use my flat iron).

Within three days of use, the arm that holds the showerhead in place broke. --The third time I took the showerhead out of it''s holder, one of the plastic "wings" that holds it in place broke off. -I e-mailed the company who shipped the product & they just told me to call another number (the manufacturer), which I did, and could never get anyone on the line who would help me. --I ended up having to buy a replacement part at a local hardware store...

Not worth the money.

The showerhead works fine and I like the long hose BUT the clip that holds the hand-held is plastic painted to look like metal and of course it broke right away. Make sure you buy one that is real metal or PVC and not painted to look like stainless steel.

I got tired of my water making red rings around my tub. We have very hard water in the midwest, and this filter virtually eliminates the problem. Short of buying yourself a softener system, this is the best money-wise solution. The tub stays cleaner far longer, and the showerhead itself has great settings, with plenty of pressure. Being able to pick up a shower head and move it around is fantastic. It makes cleaning much easier. For the critics who say it is plastic, yes it is. But then again, so is about every shower head of this type. I''m sure that a metal head with the filter would be far too heavy. Either way, it looks nice without any issues.

Aqua-Pure 68898-32 Whole House Filter O-Ring

Aqua-Pure 68898-32 Whole House Filter O-RingIt''s a genuine Aqua-Pure O-ring, which, as expected, fits perfectly and was leak-free on first install. The original lasted for 3 filter changes -this one looks identical in every way, just new and flexible.

Unbelievable! Ink-Out

Unbelievable! Ink-Out, 32 OzThis is my first review, but I was so blown away by the effectiveness of this product. I''ve never seen a stain remover work like this before, and I hate to throw out stuff in this economy.

My dogs chewed up a red ballpoint pen, and blobs of ink leaked out onto my living room carpet. Its a short nap, 100% polypropylene area carpet. $500 at Home Depot for 8 by 10 Persian knock-off, or something like that.

Anyways, two blobs of RED ballpoint ink that started to settle in before I found them became the size of 2 quarters after trying to clean them up; in the middle of a light blue carpet.

Hairspray did not do very well, other spot cleaners, not so much. The Hoover carpet cleaner, no change. My son went over the red stain with blue pen, since the carpet is blue, so it looked marginally better, but we were resigned to eventually getting a new carpet, so I started searching the web.

This Unbelievable Ink-Out immediately started melting the stain away. It practically faded with each squirt. Now its gone! The red and the blue ink. We used the hoover to remove the residual cleaning fluid as it contains some strong smelling chemicals that smell like pepto-bismal. My wife says they are not the healthiest to smell, but I have the fan on and a couple of air purifiers.

Now I will go hunt down some pen stained shirts, so I may be able to re-purpose some weekend shirts back to the weekly rotation.

This stuff chewed through the stain. I''m very impressed. I should have taken pictures, but who knew it would work so well.
