BUNN NHBB Velocity Brew 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer Save 22% Off

BUNN NHBB Velocity Brew 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, BlackBunn Coffee Makers are very high quality coffee makers, and one typically needs to spend money to get this kind of quality. However, there are a few costs you should be aware of before you purchase a Bunn Coffee Maker. I''m not saying that it may not be worth it to you, but you may as well know all of the costs before purchasing.

They both have to do with how Bunn delivers such a fast pot 3 minutes as opposed to 4-8 minutes of other makers. The first way they do it is to have what amounts to two sets of water tanks: one you fill, and the other is preheated. The preheated water tank is delivered to the spray head, and because it is preheated, it doesn''t require any time to heat it up. The problem is that it is preheated 24/7, and that can be costly. I''m guessing they use a 40 watt heater. If it takes 8-12 cents per day in energy costs, you are looking at $20-$40 per year. You can, after you are done brewing for the day, shut off the "vacation switch" which is the switch to the tank heater, and this will save the cost and energy, but if you forget to turn it back on at least 15 minutes ahead of when you need it, you are looking at a 15 minute wait for the tank to reheat before you can brew. You can also use a timer to limit the time of day the unit stays preheated, but that''s an additional cost and timers use energy to run all day.

Furthermore, if you are having guests, if you brew a pot of caffinated, followed by a pot of decaf, you may need to wait 15 minutes between pots. The Bunn commercial brewers keep three preheated tanks, so this isn''t a problem for them. But the consumer models keep only one tank preheated.

Note that they work on gravity: the water you put in pushes the preheated water out. Some of the preheated water will evaporate, so you have to put in more water than you want out.

The second thing they do to get a fast brew is to increase the amount of water that pours in to the filter basket, far greater than other coffee makers. The amount of water would collapse other filters, but because these filters are taller and sturdier, they stand up. But that means you are stuck with their filters, which, if you don''t have a supply nearby, and few stores carry them, means paying for the filters plus shipping.

Bunn builds coffee makers to last, unlike other coffee makers that will wear out after a year or two. Virtually all programmable models seem to only last a year or two. So by buying this brand, you''ll save money on coffee makers, to partly make up for the extra energy and filter costs.

You''ll have to decide whether the extra energy and filter costs (which can be dealt with, but might be troublesome) are worth saving the cost of buying a new machine every couple of years.

Next, the carbon footprint of a machine that consistently wastes energy is somewhat (but not all) counterbalanced by the fact that it is made in America , and does not require shipping halfway around the world like some of the better brands (UPDATE: it WAS made in America, now it''s made in China, so this benefit does not apply). Additionally, these coffee makers will easily outlast 5x other coffee makers, and that''s a lot of plastic you save buy buying something only once.

Finally, the quality of coffee from a flat bottom filter is generally not as high as that you can get from a cone filter, though the differences will be subtle, and if you are used to the flavor of a flat bottom filter, then you may never care. This brand is considered the best of the flat bottom makers, so there may not be as much of a difference as there are for other brands.

As for the heated base keeping your coffee hot, it is also *ruining* the flavor from almost the very first minute. Any real coffee geek will immediately take the pot off the heater and pour it into a thermal carafe or thermos or will order a model with a thermal carafe to start with. Ideally, there is no heated base at all. So people complaining that it doesn''t keep the coffee hot should invest in a thermal carafe or buy a model that comes with one.

In summary, the design of these coffee makers is suited to the standard donut shop, where they are brewing coffee around the clock and it is worth it to them to keep extra tanks of water heated so that they can shave 1-3 minutes off the brew time during their peak buying periods. Whether it is worth it for a consumer who makes one or two pots of coffee in the morning to do something like this is something only you can answer for yourself. They are very good coffee makers: well built and they make good coffee. But they cost a lot in terms of energy and filters, though partly balanced by the reduction in number of coffee makers you''ll buy over the life of this product and the local nature of the product that reduces the energy required to ship them. It''s one thing to have a high cost, but to have the high energy waste these coffee makers will generate for most consumers is something everyone should think about.

Finally, what did I buy instead? I settled on the Frieling USA C104943 Cilio Porcelain No. 4 Coffee Filter Holder. I bought the #4 size and use a #4 filter (though you can use a smaller filter for whatever size you buy) and make 16 ounces of coffee right into a Thermos Stainless King SK1005MB4 16-Ounce Leak-Proof Travel Mug, Midnight Blue. Cheap, simple to use, lightweight (less energy used to ship than an electric coffee maker), lasts forever, cleans in five seconds, no plastic chemicals in my coffee and wastes zero energy when not in use.

It was that time again; time to search for our next coffee maker. Being tired of replacing the coffee maker every 6 months we set out to look closer at build quality and read more reviews this time. We purchased three other coffee makers by a company that''s been around forever, Mr. Something. Nice looking, fancy green LED dial display with a timer, 12 cups, programmable, 2 hour auto shut off etc. for around $40-$50. Those machines only lasted around 6-7 months.

I always wanted a Bunn but was hesitant spending $100+ for a coffee maker again. Actually, I don''t recall seeing a BUNN for around $100 the last time I shopped. It''s not that spending $100+ was something new for me; I purchased other machines over $100 before but was also disappointed.

This coffee maker purchasing was beginning to be a regular thing for us so the line of thought was purchase a cheap one and replace it. So that is what we did but its costly doing that too. Buy a new machine in Jan. then June then again around Christmas time, that''s $150 right there! I remember thinking the last time; we should buy two so when it breaks we have a backup.

So anyway, we have the BUNN NHBX. The experience setting this machine up was unlike any other coffee machine in the past. I actually had to follow directions, 5 simple steps but IMPORTANT STEPS. It''s not like you just plug this machine in and go, 3 minutes later drink coffee. It does require some initial setup, approximately 20-30 minutes from opening the box. Bunn includes a quick setup guide in addition to a nice manual and a deliming tool. Adding 3 pots of water to the machine seemed odd at first not fully understanding the hot water reservoir design.

This machine makes the best tasting pot of coffee of all the machines I owned in the past. It''s also the hottest pot! The warmer plate seems unnecessary. This machine made coffee as quick as 2 min 35 secs up to 3 mins.

We just bought this Bunn coffee maker to replace one that had been in use for almost fifteen years. We average two pots of coffee per day. Prorate $100 over 15 years. Not real expensive per year. Our old Bunn failed because I didn''t use common sense when handling it. I picked up the unit by the upper plastic portion of the coffee maker when moving it for cleaning, etc. With the water in the reservoir there''s too much weight to pick it up that way. This broke some of the internal joints and caused leaking. Be smarter than me...pick it up by the base or vertical center section when its full of water. That''s the main thing I wanted to say to those owning this coffee maker.

The other reviewers have stated all the great features of Bunn coffee makers, so I won''t detail them again. This is our third Bunn and I wouldn''t consider anything else. Well.....to be honest, I was tempted to buy a Bunn commercial coffee maker like the VP17-1. Good luck.

I was very happy to see that Bunn offered a home device with a warming tank. I knew that from the office coffeemakers they produced that it should be a good with reliable features. I bought our first Bunn NHBX Home Coffee Maker at Lowes. It performed well for a while. A few months later, the power button at the top let go while brewing and the coffee grounds started flowing out of the filter compartment. I cleaned up the mess and examined the unit. The underside of the water dispenser had cracked into two parts and the filter would no longer stay up with any weight in the basket. Thinking it was a problem with the amount of coffee we ground, I decided to start over with another unit. WRONG. It also did the same thing after 5 months. The stainless steel coating started coming out from around the back of the water tank, too. It joined its predecessor in the trash. I decided to forego the 3 minute coffee and purchase a pro-line coffeemaker that really was suitable for office and home.

I have had 3, yes 3 coffee makers in the past 2 years. A mill and brew, a Krupps, some other quite nice machines. Every time I would go to my parents house I was amazed by how good the coffee tasted out of that plain, 7 year old, simplistic looking Bunn my parents owned. I tried the same coffee grinds, filters and all on mine, taste was awful in comparison. Through my powers of deduction (I know, I know, call me Captian Obvious) I determined it was the coffee machine rather than the ingredients that was the culprit. I ordered the Bunn NHBX-B as it has more contemporary styling and was pleased to see despite the face lift the taste has not changed one bit. Delicious. And all in 3 minutes time. I will never purchase another coffee machine, see you later Starbucks drive-through.

I''m really happy with these filters. The filtration has been great, no sediment in our water, and I don''t have to run to the store to pick up new filters every couple months. This box will last us a couple years.

It''s great to see this product sold in this quantity.

These filters cleared up my water. Outlet pressure is still the same... I was concerned that going from 25 to 1 micron filters would be too much restriction, but all is well. Been going for over 3 weeks and outlet pressure is barely falling off, indicating a filter change is coming due. I planned on changing every week to ten days, so I am extremely pleased with this product and will order more when needed.

I change our water filter every two weeks due to the heavy amount of iron and minerals in our water. I have used aabout 20 of these filters now and I have to say they are the best filters I have ever used. There are visible results you can actually tell the water is cleaner by just looking at it.

One item to note, these filters are 10" in length which is just a bit longer than the standard filters. I have to trim about 1/4" of the end of each filter for it to fit. However, this is easily accomplshed with a sharp utility knive.

Used these to filter out the sediment in the water. Works great, the quality is on par with more expensive brands and buying in bulk works out far cheaper.

I buy these filters from Amazon. Sometimes they send me the Purenex item. Sometimes they sent me the FLOW-PRO brand. And then at other times they choose to actually send me the iSpring item. Most of them are lighter than the Culligan brand and seem to break apart easier at times, with the exception of the FLOW-PRO item, also sold under the ''''iSpring'''' and ''''Purenex'''' listings on Amazon, which seems to be the best quality.

In summary, if Amazon can commit to selling the FLOW-PRO item to you, whether marketed either as ''''iSpring'''' or ''''Purenex'''', then I would recommend purchasing that FLOW-PRO item for sure!

Culligan RDA-150 RainDisc Shower Optional Hi-Lo Arm Save 34% Off

Culligan RDA-150 RainDisc Shower Optional Hi-Lo Arm, Chrome Finish
  • For use with RDSH-C115 RainDisc shower filtration shower head
  • Installs between your existing shower arm and the RainDisc showerhead to any standard 1/2-inch threaded shower arm
  • Extends the length of the shower filtration system to enable the shower head to be mounted directly above, creating a true rain shower
  • Chrome Finish
  • Adjustable Height

I bought this to use with a Culligan Rain Shower Head. I am not sure about the one review who says you can''t angle it?? It lets you get almost any angle you need. As my showerhead is designed to point straight down for the rain effect, I have it coming straight out from the wall, and raised it little for extra height. But each place you see a knob, swivels. So you can angle the shower head any way you wish and then tighten the knob. The only thing I saw you had to be careful with is to not over tighten the knobs, as it starts to squash and cuts the rubber O-rings that keep the swivel points from leaking. But other than that, it placed my shower head a comfortable distance away from the wall, and at the angle I desired, which was straight down. But if you wanted for some reason, you can swivel the shower head to point at the wall the faucet is on, all the way to almost pointing up, so again, should hit almost any angle someone would need for any type of shower head.

Buy Culligan RDA-150 RainDisc Shower Optional Hi-Lo Arm Now

It''s easy to install and it gets the shower head far enough away from the wall. I used it with an 11" "s" shower arm to get a bit extra height. The only other thing is probably obvious to most people, but it took me a while to realize the "knobs" go on the side, not the top. I''m glad I got it! I gave it a 4 because I still wanted a longer shower arm anyway--a little longer would have been better.

I bought this arm to extend the Rain Disc Shower head, but it leaks at the first articulation joint. A fine jet of water was squirting up towards the ceiling. Upon further inspection, the O-ring at that joint was broken. I thought it would be a simple fix, but two trips to the hardware store later, I could not find the correct size O-ring. I emailed the seller, who was completely unresponsive, and returned it to Amazon for a full refund. I may try this arm again if/when I get a replacement, and I will change my review accordingly, but on service (or lack thereof) alone, you will not be receiving any return emails from this seller.

Beckett FP4 Algecide Fountain Cleaner Save 37% Off

Beckett FP4 Algecide Fountain Cleaner, 4-OunceI bought this product to treat algee in a large fountain (with no fish) in front of our house. It is not stopping the algee growth. I''ve even tried using substantially more than recommended in the directions and had little success. I''m now just adding a very small amount of bleach instead and that works great for substantially less money.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT. IF YOUR POND HAS FISH--IT WILL KILL YOUR FISH despite the front label which reads "will not harm fish". It also does not stop algae growth. The manufacturer''s instructions fail to include warnings/instructions about pond age and fish load, factors that can affect the application and be harmful to fish according to a Beckett representative responding to my complaint. Beckett, however, has assumed no responsibility and is taking no measures to relabel its product.

Honeywell QuietCare Cool-Moisture Humidifier Save 25% Off

Honeywell QuietCare Cool-Moisture Humidifier, 3-Gallon, HCM-630We bought this humidifier to replace one that was purchased about six years ago, also a Honeywell model. That model had a two gallon tank and would shut off if the water ran out. Compared to that, this newer model has a relatively TINY tank, at perhaps a gallon or so. Since the unit is rated at 3 gallons per day output, that would mean quit a bit of refilling on very dry days. On our old unit, the tank had a handle on the underside (where the fill cap is) so that when you filled it, you had something to hold on to. Not so with the new unit. And to make matters even more difficult, the bottom of this new tank is not flat, so you can''t just set it under the faucet and expect it to stay there.

The most annoying thing though is the absence of an automatic shutoff and indicator light when the water level gets too low. Because the tank is in the back of the unit, it is hard to see the water level. This thing will run and run and run without water, drying out the filter so you have to take it out an re-soak it again. While stylistically nicer, this units functionality is a real step down from previous generations of their humidifiers.

Quiet, works well, needs to be refilled daily. Filter only lasted 6 weeks. My local Home Depot doesn''t stock replacement filter. Must order online. Buy extras when ordering humidifier.

This humidifier was about as quiet as they come for the first few weeks. It abruptly started making a lot more noise. We''ve tried adjusting everything but the fan just sounds a lot louder now. I don''t recommend buying it if the quiet aspect is your prime concern.

The filter does need to be changed quite often as the other person mentioned.

Only had unit for a few days and it stopped working.Motor ran,but did not use any water.

I emptied it of all water, put some vinegar in, ran that through,it now works great.

Now, I put a few drops of vinegar in every other fill.

As far as the moldy smell, I use a little Sol u Mel in every two or three fills----no mold.(Sol u Mel kills mold spores and dust mites and helps with alot of other "chores" around the house.

DeLonghi BCO320T Combination Espresso and Drip Coffee Save 34% Off

DeLonghi BCO320T Combination Espresso and Drip Coffee- BlackWe have had several Combination Espresso and coffee makers through the years. They don''t usually last more than a couple years. So we don''t spend a fortune on them. My husband makes Cappuccinos for us each Sunday morning. This by far is our favorite so if it ever goes, this one will be what we buy again. So user friendly with smart features. Love it.

I bought this unit and just short of 60 days later the espresso maker piece started to leak steam during brewing. I emailed DeLonghi to find out how to get it replaced. After a week of no response, I called DeLonghi support and they said I had to mail it, at my own expense, to a repair center. My request to have a replacement, since it was only about 45 days old, was denied.

The repair center turned out to be pretty close, so, I drove over and dropped it off. A couple of weeks went by and I had not heard anything so I called. The response was "we have not gotten to it yet". Then a week after that I received a call saying the part to fix it was on back order from Italy. No ETA.

I am now looking for a replacement and needless to say we will not be buying a DeLonghi product for this or anything else.

I got this because I like the occasional cappuccino. It does a decent job for a middle of the road product.

First the drip side. It''s a little slower than other drip machines I''ve had for making the full 10 cups. The biggest drawback of the drip side is the design of the carafe spout. When filling the water reservoir you have to pour super slow or it overflows and drips water onto your counter. Same thing when you pour the first couple of cups of coffee. Once it gets to about the 6 cup mark you can pour at a better rate without it dripping. The spout is basically just flat with really small lips on the sides, not the contoured glass you find most places.

As a plus you do have the Aroma mode if you only want to make 4 cups or less to make sure you get good flavor from the short brew. The programmable auto off is also great if you are the type of person who tends to forget about the pot in the morning. The warming plate does run a little hot. It doesn''t burn the brewed coffee, but if it''s been sitting there more than about 15 minutes, it''s way too hot to drink.

For the espresso side. I like the switch valve operation over something you have turn. And it won''t let the steam into the espresso brewing side until it reaches the right pressure so you can leave it on the coffee setting when you turn it on.

The cons of the espresso side:

1. The frothing tip is screw on. I counted, it takes more than 30 twists to get it off or on, which is a huge pain

2. You don''t get a frothing cup. Come on, for this price you couldn''t include one? I had one left over from a previous combo machine, so not a big deal, but if you want to make a cappuccino right out of the box, forget about it

3. The directions for steaming milk tell you to hold the frother right under the surface of the milk. This will froth your milk without getting it warm. You should hold the frothing cup so that the milk comes up to the top of the frothing tip until the milk is hot and then froth it.

4. The marked water level recommendations on the espresso carafe are off. I find I need to add more water than recommended in order to get both hot milk and a good froth.

Overall a decent machine for the price point. The biggest negative is the screw on and off frothing tip. If you make a lot of cappuccinos, you may want to look for a machine with an easier to clean design. I had one with a rubber tip and metal straw to bring down air for foaming that was super easy to clean compared to this.

Purchased this combo machine for $118.00 (tax and shipping included) to replace the Delonghi combo machine we had for 7 years.

Very satisfied with the machine, we make drip coffee on a daily basis and espresso at least once a week. We have had it for over a month now, and no problems.

I especially like the automatic shut off of the warming plate, which can by adjusted for the length of time it stays on.

Delonghi redesigned the drip coffee pot lip, the old pot used to drip when/after you poured, no problems the new one.

The large button for the espresso, confused me at the first, I pressed that intending to make drip coffee, but shut it off, once I noticed no coffee coming out. I read the directions and figured it out.

Good Machine, if hope it lasts as long as the other.

Tip: rinse the filter holder after every use, if it clogs, it will overflow and you will have a mess. It happened once with the old one but never had the problem again, since we are in the habit of rinsing.

Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop Kit Save 22% Off

Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop Kit, FG1M1600GRYRDTo preface, for over 2 years now I''ve run the custodial department for a public school district, and I consequently have a fair amount of experience with the basic tools (mops, buckets, microfiber cloths and mop pads) in Rubbermaid''s professional line. The Rubbermaid Reveal has its roots based in their HYGEN professional line. As a result, I was very excited when I saw the commercial for the Reveal given the remarkable quality of the aforementioned HYGEN line. All that said, the transition from professional grade mop to all-in-one home mopping system wasn''t exactly seamless.

Pros:

1. Massive waste elimination given that you''re not forced to purchase proprietary cleaning solution or disposable pads.

2. Microfiber!! Picks up ~90% of bacteria vs. ~40% with a cotton mop (I''m not even going to get into the bacterial breeding ground that is a sponge mop).

3. Easy to store, handle has a pre-made hole for hanging.

4. Floating mop pad holder means that you can just about lay the handle on the floor while keeping the mop pad on the floor for tough to reach areas.

5. If you''re willing to forgo the solution bottle and just use a bucket, you could wash walls or ceilings with ease.

Cons:

1. The delivery system requires me to spray around 6 times to get a reasonable amount of solution on the floor. I got full-sprays with the trigger the first two squeezes, since then about half of the trigger''s action is nothing but wasted movement. Could just be a problem with mine.

2. Microfiber is great, but when you''re not constantly rinsing the pad, debris WILL accumulate and microfiber has the unfortunate habit of depositing built up debris on the edge of the pad back on your floor.

3. Just some nit-picky stuff here Unit doesn''t feel solid. The microfiber pads that come with the unit don''t even begin to measure up to the quality of their HYGEN line counter-parts in terms of fiber density or amount of launderings they can endure.

All in all, this is a solid investment that''s going to give you a great quality of clean for the life of the product and save you money in the long term.

I am so in love with this mop, that''s a funny thing to say, but it''s true. I have used a good quality microfiber mop for years, and I have tried the cheap versions they sell in stores now days, don''t waste your money on the cheap ones. I clean homes and a couple of churches and decided I needed to get more refills for my current microfiber mop. I also considered getting one of those Swiffer mops, then I saw the commercial for the Reveal Spray Mop. I did a little research on line, and read the reviews on it, I figured I''d give it a try.

I priced it here and on Rubbermaid''s site, this is the better deal here on Amazon, you get the mop, 3 microfiber mop pads and 2 bottles, on Rubbermaid''s site, you only get the mop, 1 pad and 1 bottle, plus you have to pay for shipping, get it here, much better deal.

When I received it, the box looked too small, but it turned out the mop handle came in two pieces. There are no instructions in the box, but the handle snapped together pretty easily, and it doesn''t come a part easily after that. The pads are impressive, they are much thicker than my original microfiber mop pads, that comes in very handy, you don''t have to change (or rinse) the pads as often. One thing you must do when you are using a microfiber mop is you have to either change the pads or rinse the pads, just like you would have to rinse a sponge or string mop, it only picks up so much dirt then it needs a rinse or change, that''s no big deal once you realize that, with this kit, since you get 3 pads, it''s not a problem, once the pad stops cleaning, just change to a clean pad.

I washed the 3 pads before I used them (I do that with any microfiber product I get). A bit of advice, with any microfiber product, wash in hot water, do not wash with towels (it will pick up the lint from the towels), do not use chlorine bleach, that will destroy the material, and finally, do not use any sort of fabric softener, the microfiber will suck up the fabric softener and then it will not pick up dirt, it will just leave smears. When it comes out of the dryer, it will have lots of static cling, that is a good thing, especially if you are going to use it as a dry dust mop.

I had the chance to use my new mop at church a few days after I received it. I filled the bottle most of the way with water, then I added just a little ammonia (don''t use too much or you will have to rinse the ammonia off). I first cleaned 2 glass doors, then started on the floor. I was immediately impressed with it, the thicker pads pick up so much more dirt and liquid, it cleaned the windows without leaving any streaks. I have since used it on many other floors with equally wonderful results. I am so impressed, I am so glad I didn''t buy a Swiffer mop, it''s a great idea but with the Reveal mop, you don''t have to buy refill pads nor do you have to buy refill cleaner. You can use whatever cleaner you want in this bottle, just remember, no chlorine bleach. And also, use less cleaner than you think you''ll need, the microfiber pad is more than capable of cleaning with plain water.

I like the swivel feature, I figured out a trick if you are having to mop under a bed or other low furniture, turn the mop over so that the bottle is on the bottom of the handle, that way you will not catch the bottle on the bed frame or furniture. The handle has a trigger that sprays the water/cleaner, it sprays in a good pattern, just a few inches in front of the mop, in a near perfect rectangular pattern about the same size as the mop head. I was able to spray it on the glass door by holding it level and spraying it toward the glass.

If you are cleaning a place that has a dog or cat, you will need to sweep very well, it''s nearly impossible to get up all the animal hair, what will happen is when you are mopping, the animal hair will bunch up in front of the mop head, it''s nearly impossible to keep that from happening, I just push the hair into one spot and pick it up after I finish mopping. It''s not a flaw in the mop, it would do that with any microfiber mop.

The mop feels quite sturdy, the pads are thick and substantial, I feel confident this will keep me happily mopping for many years.

I have recommended this to all of my friends. So far, everyone who has seen it wants one. I give it a big thumbs up.

I have used a Swiffer Wet for several years. I also have a steam mop that I''ve had for a couple of years that was a gift. Before that, it was basically scrub brush and bucket on hands & knees.

Let''s face it to get your floor really clean, the scrub brush is the way to go. On my kitchen/breakfast area/hall/half bath (the expanse of bare floor that needs to be washed), it''s a two to three hour cleaning process (vacuum the dog hair and crumbs, scrub (changing water at least 2 or 3 times) and let dry). That''s a long time and a lot of wear and tear on the knees. I started using the Swiffer Wet when I wanted to get the worst of the dirt without the toil. It still took ~45 minutes and at least 5 or 6 pads. The steam cleaner was nicer except for managing the electrical cord so I could cover the entire area without walking on wet floor, and changing the floor pads which were really hot when I wanted to remove them (doh!). I also didn''t like the length of time it took for the steamed floor to dry.

So, I saw the Rubbermaid product and thought it was worth a try. I liked the changeable, washable cleaning pads, and the fact that I could use my own favorite floor product in the bottle.

This is not a great product if you want deep cleaning. Maybe over time, because it''s easy and fast, I''ll wash my floor more often and won''t need the deep cleaning. Or maybe I''ll scrub it once more and maintain it with the Rubbermaid mop.

On the Plus side it took about a half an hour to do my entire floor, I didn''t even use one whole bottle of solution, the pads stayed beautifully in place on the mop-head and are now in the laundry waiting to be washed, I was able to use Pine Sol, which makes the whole house smell clean (although I think I''ll try more concentrated ammonia next time to see if it cleans better), and the floor dried fairly fast.

On the Con side there is still dirt caught in the floor (no wax vinyl) textured areas (not good; it''s white) and it''ll probably take scrubbing to get it out, the sprayer tended to dribble a bit, so it was a little messy changing the pad, and I sprayed the bottom edges of the cabinets in some places (I have noted the suggestions in some other reviews). These are not deal breakers.

This is probably well worth the cost of the system, and be sure to have two or three pads available when you do your floor. It''s easy enough to change them so you aren''t washing your floor with a dirty pad, and then you put them all into the washer when you''re done. I can''t begin to guess what I''ve spent on Swiffer wet pads in the past several years, and just threw them away when they got dirty. The Swiffer is more convenient to use if you have a quick wipe up to do, although mixing up the cleaning solution in the bottle isn''t very difficult. The biggest challenge for me is that the floor always needs to be vacuumed completely before washing, otherwise, I''m just pushing dog hair around it. As someone who just doesn''t want to spend a lot of time on floors (once a week, thanks), I think I''ll get a lot of use out the Rubbermaid Reveal. It''s definitely worth trying.

UPDATE -

I tried an ammonia solution that was twice as strong as recommended by the fill lines on the bottle (plain ammonia and water only). It worked beautifully. No more hands and knees, I think! I''m thinking there''s nothing wrong with regular floor-cleaning products (my husband thought the ammonia fumes were a little strong, but they dissipated), but if you have a really dirty floor, you might need to adapt. I wonder how they determine the fill concentrations, because even double strength Pine Sol might have worked.

Also, the pads are great. I''ve been careful not to put them in the dryer with dryer sheets, and actually laid them on top of the dryer once because the rest of the load needed the dryer sheets. The design is really clever in that they do not get tangled up with nylon socks, or other snaggy stuff. The pricky part is on the mop-head. Did a woman think of that?!

My kitchen has a wood laminate floor (which I would never again install in that space). Laminate floors don''t like to get wet, yet a kitchen floor must be mopped. I have used an O-Cedar microfiber mop for many years with acceptable results. That mop and the tired microfiber pads have been tossed out. This is an amazing product. The microfiber pad does a fantastic job on my floor. I''ve been using the Pledge Multi-Surface floor cleaner with it and get streak-free results in conjunction with the superb pad. I rinse the pad out about half-way through the job to cut down on debris getting trapped and deposited on my floor. My only complaint is that I haven''t been able to find additional pads at my grocery, Target or WalMart stores. I will be ordering a couple more from Amazon. I highly recommend this product.

Hayward Pro-Grid Pool Filter Clamp Assembly Brass Sleeve Nut Only

Hayward Pro-Grid Pool Filter Clamp Assembly Brass Sleeve Nut OnlyThis sleeve nut is exactly what I needed. The old one has been stripped to nothing because we used a crescent wrench for far too long and it just ate away the soft brass. This one takes a 3/4" socket which makes taking this thing on and off way easier. I will say it is a pain to get the spring off the old one, but if you have access to a vice it would be quite easy. So glad this is available, if not Hayward want $250 for a whole new clamp set.

Perfect fit for what I needed for the filters. Can''t run a pool without it. If you need to replace this bolt get this one it seems as if it''s made of better materials

Great product, worked our perfectly. My pool is 17 years old and this product was exactly what I needed. I ordered 2 and they were delivered in just 4 days. Advice, clean the screw thoroughly and use car wheel bearing grease for smoother fitting and this will also prevent rust.

I desperately needed to replace the clamp bolt on my Hayward DE filter and this did the trick very nicely. Price was very high, otherwise it would be a 5 stars. Since Hayward discontinued this part (??!!??) which baffles me, I guess you gotta pay what you gotta pay when the existing part breaks... just don''t go crazy tightening this thing is all I can say, it is only brass after all.

Mr. Coffee Fresh Iced Tea Maker Save 8% Off

Mr. Coffee TM70 3-Quart Iced Tea Maker, 3-Quart, BlueI''ve read the other reviews and I had to write my own since I have had nothing but a positive experience with this tea maker. First of all, I don''t know why some others have experienced leaking from the front since it hasn''t leaked a drip for me. All you have to do is push the pitcher in all the way and it''s a perfect fit. Also, all of my water is being emptied from the reservoir and I''ve never had a problem with it. I actually own both, the TM3-2 and this TM70. I bought the TM3-2 first for one location and I later bought this one conveniently at Wal-Mart for $18 for home. I like the plastic used for the TM70 better since it doesn''t seem as cheap, it doesn''t stain as much and it''s dishwasher safe. I also like how the TM70 only has one opening for the tea to leave and go into the pot. There''s a possibility that one of the other reviewers had the opening plugged up to cause an overflow, a finely ground tea might cause that. That may also cause the brewer to automatically stop and not brew all of the water from the reservoir, but I don''t know. The TM3-2 has an opening at the top just in case water is overflowing, but this causes the water to go straight into the pitcher without brewing the tea. There are other points I like better about the TM70 design, but I can go on about why I like the TM70 better. I guess it''s different strokes for different folks. Maybe I just got lucky to buy one without any flows or it''s user error.

I had an earlier Mr. Coffee Ice Tea Maker before this one and it was awesome. I loved it. The only problem was that it just got old from lots of use and the pitcher and tea bag holder started breaking. So I bought a new one for Christmas this year. This model. And it is absolutely horrible. The problem appears to be that as the tea is coming down out of the top of the unit and trying to drop into the pitcher, the unit starts acting up and the hot tea starts getting distributed onto the sides of the unit around the end of the pitcher, instead of falling directly into the end of the pitcher, and it leaks all over the counter. Horrible, horrible design. I do not understand how Mr. Coffee hasn''t been sued over this piece of crap model yet from having it burn someone. I''m returning mine and I''ll think twice about buying another Mr. Coffee model again.

I love sweet tea and was really excited to get this. I was pretty disappointed. I could have put up with the fact that it was leaky and spilled easily and was pretty hard to clean, if only it made good tea. The tea didn''t taste good was way too bitter and when I followed the instructions for making sweet tea that came with it I only ended up with mildly sweet very bitter tea with a mess of undissolved sugar inside. I''d rather boil a pot of water on the stove than mess with this tea maker.

Wow interesting to see I''m not the only one experiencing problems with this thing! It made great tea the first few times I used it. In fact I was amazed that I could use the contents of of only 3 tea bags for making 2 quarts and still come out with delicious tea. After the first few uses however the infamous leaking problem started where I''d find about 1/2 cup of tea in a puddle on my counter when the brewing was finished. At first I thought it was just when I made 3 quarts worth of tea but then it started hapening with 1 & 2 Quarts as well. It doesn''t happen every time but it''s at the point where I''m afraid to leave the machine unattended for fear of returning to a big mess. I suspect the seeping basket is the culpret here. It fills up fast, is VERY slow to empty and is too small to be effective at preventing overflow.

PUR CR-6000C 2-Stage Oval Water Pitcher Save 33% Off

PUR CR-6000C 2-Stage Oval Water Pitcher with LED IndicatorThe PUR CR-6000C 2 Stage Oval Water Pitcher with LED Indicator has some very strong positives that make it a good choice. However, it also has some weaknesses that will hopefully be addressed in a re-design. As long as you know what the weaknesses are, you should be able to get more use of the benefits of this product than some people have reported.

Pros:

+ Takes up a small amount of floor space

+ Great 2 stage filters leak less filter debris than other filters

+ It has an attractive look with a sleek body

+ The included indicator reminds you when to change filters

+ The price is very reasonable on an annual basis

Cons:

The body isn''t as solid as it could be, so use both hands to pick it up

The filters seem to run out quickly

Removing the cover takes some practice

The slim form factor has a smaller footprint and takes up less space, but it also puts more weight on the handle and the body every time you pick it up. So most of the complaints about cracking are due to the slim oval design, and not just the thickness of the pitcher. How do you compensate for that? Simply use your other hand to hold the front of the pitcher when you pick it up and relieve some of the pressure on the body and handle.

The other common complaint has to do with the design of the lid, which seems to make the pitcher difficult to fill. But after the first time, the lid opens much more easily. Simply put your thumb into the back tab of the lid an it will open easily. What''s more, this model has the added benefit of having a nice seal when closed, so refrigerator odors won''t get into your water. Just make sure to wait till your water has gone through the filter before putting it away, to avoid spilling.

Other than the obvious savings of cutting down on bottled water and the plastic waste that comes with it, the best feature of this pitcher has to be the filter. As a long-time Brita user, I got tired of the filter material ending up in my water. Not only does the two stage filter of this model screw in securely, it has less seepage of filter material. And of course, most importantly, the water tastes great. I can''t comment on whether or not it removed more bacteria, because I didn''t run any scientific tests. But the taste was definitely an improvement over other filters.

Now there is a larger dispenser that may be better for those with space in their fridge for it. Obviously you will have less breakage issues, but it takes up much more room. So it''s a trade-off.

The flashing indicator on the top is meant to calculate how many refills you have gone through, and it will tell you when you have to change your filter. Even at $20 for a three pack, this system basically comes out to $60 a year for filters and the pitcher. Not bad, even if you had to replace the pitcher every year.

Overall, despite the warts this is a good product. If you don''t have the room for the larger dispenser, or the faucet mount, then this will work for you. Just handle it with care.

Enjoy.

The 2-stage filter produces water that tastes so good, I''ve stopped drinking bottled water (at home, anyway). As a result I find myself filling the pitcher several times a day, much more often than I filled my Brita pitcher.

The functional design of the pitcher, however, could easily be better. Its pour spout is open to the air, while Brita''s is covered, leaving the water exposed to dust, as well as to odors in the fridge. It''s the equivalent of leaving a bottle of water uncapped all day or longer.

In addition, removing the top in order to add water requires more effort than it should; whoever designed it doesn''t seem to have considered that the top must be separated from the filtration chamber. (For that purpose I''ve developed a technique where I pull the chamber up with my left hand while my right thumb releases the top from it.)

The LED light on top of the lid is activated by pouring, simply by the tilt of the pitcher. It''s supposed to measure the amount of water you pour so you know when to get a new filter. If you pour one glass at a time, this will probably give you an accurate measurement. However, if you pour fractions of a glass, or potfulls, or if you tilt the lid when you remove it, it becomes a not very useful gimmick.

Despite the issues with the pitcher, which I hope someone at PUR takes seriously, the quality of the water makes this a product I''d recommend.

I have had my Pur Pitcher for about 3 weeks now with no problems. I fill it in the sink, sit it on the counter for about 10 minutes to let it filter a bit and then stick it in the fridge.

We use it for a quick glass of water, to fill the coffee pot, or for anything else we feel we want cleaner-than-tap water for.

We certainly do notice a different in taste. The Pur water definitely tastes cleaner. I think we have decent city water to start with, so I am sure that helps with the filtration life, but I do wish it was at least 3 stage and not 2 stage.

I also wich it could fill itself. My significant other usually forgets the recipe for water and I am stuck filling the coffee pot with tap water in the morning ;)

UPDATE: ONE YEAR LATER

Still works like a charm. No cracks that others complained about. Just change the filter regularly and you have delicious, refreshing, clean water. And I am happy to report the GF learned to fill it up when she empties it ;)

Agreed with all the reviews around the cheap quality of the plastic the handle will break off, the pitcher begins cracking simple from pressure of the water, and the pour spills easily. Not recommended until they improve the design.

Want PUR CR-6000C 2-Stage Oval Water Pitcher Discount?

I purchased this water filter pitcher to replace a Brita Pitcher after I learned that Brita filters don''t filter out any microbes or pharmaceuticals, but only chlorine, etc. The design is great. Unlike my previous Brita filterBRITA Water Filtration System Kit 1 Pitcher Vintage Model (Large Capacity) plus 2 Fliters this one consists of three easy to clean parts, the pitcher, the basin, and the lid. When you pour from the pitcher, the LED flashes, indicating the status of the filter. It''s not measuring anything when you pour, pouring simply activates the LED and tells you how much time has passed since you set the timer, indicating its state as working or not. Though it may filter a tad slower than the Brita filter, the time difference is not significant, and the fact that it removes 96% of pharmaceuticals, and microbial cysts makes it well worth it. If you enjoy the convenience of having an LED to remind you when it''s time to change filters, I would definitely recommend this model. If you don''t mind using the stickers that come with the filters to remind you when to change, or have enough confidence in your memory to do without either, I would recommend saving the money and buying one of these models: PUR CR-6000 2 Stage Oval Water Pitcher or PUR Water Pitcher with Bonus Trial-Size Samples

Austin HealthMate Jr HEPA Air Cleaner

Austin HealthMate Jr HEPA Air Cleaner
  • Filter Type - Medical HEPA / Activated Carbon / Poly Prefilter
  • Number of Filtration Stages - Four
  • Air Flow - 75 to 200 CFM
  • Motor Speeds - Three
  • Construction - 16 Gauge Steel
  • Warranty - 5 Years Parts and Labor
  • Made in the USA

This filter is 14 inches tall and is 11 inches square which is large compared to many air filters, but if you are used to seeing the big ones all the time this one is so, excuse me cute! Ok, so diminuative that after living with the big ones for five years I can''t get over how I feel like a giant around it because it is identical to the big ones in every way except for its size and output. It is much quieter than the large ones because it isn''t putting out as much air, but this is great for a little bedroom in our house and it takes care of both dust and chemicals.

I have severe chemical sensitivities and so I''ve tried almost every filter on the market that is supposed to take fragrances, etc. out of the air, but I''ve found none that lives up to their promises like this one does.

It has wheels (they don''t lock) that move very well and I''ve never had one fall off. In fact, I find these machines very well made not shabby. They are made of metal and not plastic and I''ve never had to air one out.

If you buy this for chemical sensitivities make sure it is the one with the carbon zeolite filter. If it is missing that one (and therefore cheaper) the other filters can become contaminated with fragrances and don''t air out quickly.

One thing you should do is to vacuum the holes on the outside once in a while because they will start getting a little clogged up with dust after a couple years or sooner if you don''t vacuum or dust regulary.

The filter is good for four years and if you contact the manufacturer before then needing a new one (we use ours ALL the time and so needed to replace ours after three) they will, as of a couple years ago ago at least, prorate a replacement.

It would be far more expensive and less effective to put one of these in each room of your house than getting a couple big ones for the whole house. I''d recommend this for traveling (the big ones are heavy and awkward to travel with, but these are quite nice) or for when you only need to clean the air in one room. It would probably work quite well in an office and isn''t so loud you can''t talk on the phone. Very nice.

Overall, I''m very pleased and would highly recommend this.

I have had this for 3 years now. It works great. I have replaced the filter once. I can tell when it isn''t on because the air gets a little stale. It is a little loud on high but no so loud that it has to be turned off. You wouldn''t want it to sit by your chair while you were watching TV. I have it at the end of the sofa and table grouping. I have a basement apartment and it helps with my allergies.

Jupiter Melody Water Ionizer - Model JP104 Save 6% Off

Jupiter Melody Water Ionizer - Model JP104 - 5 Yr. WarrantyI LOVE THIS UNIT. We have had a reverse osmosis water filter for 5 years, ever since I had become seriously ill and decided to overcome my health issues by changing my diet and detoxifying my body through food, supplements and alternative healing. The reverse osmosis filter removes absolutely all impurities from the water, but leaves it energetically dead, and acidic, so you have to alkalize it. Now that I have recovered my health, I was searching for an easier alternative. The RO filter was time consuming and did not produce enough water daily for our family plus the 4 replacement cartridges were getting expensive. It was not really cheaper than buying distilled water when you considered the filter costs.

So I researched many water Ionizers including the Kangen. For the price, this one is really the best.

PROS:

Water tastes fantastic. You want to keep drinking it.

Easy to install. Great instructional video too.

Easy to use hooks up to the faucet and has a nice switch valve at the tap no need to connect & disconnect every time you use it.

It records how much water has been through the filter so you get a better idea of when to change the filter.

Does not take up a lot of space.

Produces a range of alkaline and acidic water

Relatively inexpensive compared to other Ionizers

CONS:

Does not remove ALL of the flouride from the water. IT removes about 70%.

Like all IOnizers and Reverse Osmosis systems, it uses a lot of water to make the good water. i.e. this is not eco-friendly.

Also note that I bought it from the Canadian distributor on Amazon. They were quick to get back to me with a few pre-purchase questions and offered to re-imburse me for any customs/duty charges I might have when the post office delivered. That was not necessary, as there were no problems with delivery.

Our bodies need to be slightly alkaline in order to healthy. Much of the municipal water, buy government standards, is set at a ph of about 6.2, which is acidic and can put our bodies in an acidic state. Combine the acidic water, poor eating choices of soda pop, coffee, tea, meat and sugar and add stress to the mixture, it''s really difficult to keep our bodies at a healthy ph level, particularly after you''ve grown a little old like I have. Ionized water helps!

I did a lot of research before buying this water ionizer and this is the best for the price. In fact, this is the best price for the Jupiter Melody that I could find. I saved about $85 buying it through Amazon.com.

The Jupiter Melody, which separates the acid from the alkaline water has 3 hoses. One brings water from the tap into the machine, another hose to eliminate the waste water and a third is flexible metal that you use to fill your glass with the good water. The Melody comes with a video so you can do the setup steps while watching and pausing the video. It''s pretty easy. The ph level of the water is adjustable from acidic to alkaline and there''s a reagent and test tube(s) to test the actual ph of the water.

There''s a lot more information and online videos you can watch by Googling "Jupiter Melody".

It took some convincing for me to come to the conclusion that it was worth $1600 to prep my water before I drank it, but having had cancer treatments I''m doing anything that there is good evidence that will reduce the chances of cancer coming back, including a very healthy diet with no sweets or coffee. So, I purchased a Jupiter Melody from a Virginia supplier a little over a year ago. Another brand name for this machine is Isis and it''s a very popular ionizer sold world wide. From articles that I''ve read, the Jupiter Melody does a good job of improving the ORP index (Oxidation Reduction Potential) of water and electrically converts the water to a more alkaline state. I proved the second parameter to myself by doing before and after sampling with pH test papers. There are other good ionizers out there but I narrowed my selection between the Jupiter and a Tyent 7070, finally choosing the Jupiter based on lower price. No need to shop for maximum pH levels of 10.0 or above because drinking water at a level of 8.5 or 9 is healthier than acidic water (any figure below pH 7). The ORP improvement generally goes along with the pH increase when comparing ionizers. The mineral content of the input water affects the output measurements of any ionizer because mineral water is easier to alter electrically. Don''t use an ionizer with water that''s been treated by a water softener or reverse osmosis filter. Both of those processes remove necessary minerals from the water.

The water coming out of my machine machine is tasteless and that''s all you want water to be is just healthy, wet, and easy to drink. I have no regrets about the purchase -exceptfor the price of the water filter which only lasts about 2 or 3 months (in my experience) at a replacement price of $100. There''s a filter replacement meter built into the Jupiter but my filters have only been lasting 35% 40% of the indicated replacement life before the water begins to smell like rotten eggs. When I change the filter and reset the meter, I''m back to pure tasteless water again. Nobody does price discounts on these expensive proprietary filters, even Amazon, so there must be a price fix by the manufacturer. I installed a carbon pre-filter in the water line ahead of the machine but that didn''t improve the filter life that I could tell. In comparison, the Tyent 7070 has two filters, one for sediment the other for taste. Those two filters together cost about $10 more than the single Jupiter filter but I can''t speak about the lifespan of them since I don''t own a Tyent. I would love to hear from someone who does.

My well water has high mineral content so that causes calcium deposits to build up on the electrolysis plates and the metal outlet hose of the Jupiter but I found that can be remedied by pouring white vinegar into the outlet nozzle and letting it stand overnight about once a month. Repeat the procedure if necessary.

My recommendation is that if you have a health issue, get an ionizer, and the Jupiter is probably one of the best over all values unless you can find one that uses inexpensive standard 10 inch water filters. I don''t think such a choice exists. This machine can be connected to a kitchen water faucet or tapped directly into a water pipe like I have mine. There''s a water valve control on the front of the machine and the level of alkalinity is selectable.

I''ve had my Melody for about 1 month and so far it does NOT make acid water very well. The orp is ok as well ph levels but this unit will not make acid water below a 5ph. Acid water should be below 3 ph to be of any quality. On acid water selection I can get 11 ph coming out the acid outlet.

Hydro Logic Stealth RO 200 Customized Reverse Osmosis filter

Hydro Logic Stealth RO 200 Customized Reverse Osmosis filterI have a hydroponic greenhouse, and unfortunately the water supply has too much calcium and so tap water was not good enough for hydroponic systems. Basically, the calcium combines with the plant foods and comes out of solution, throwing your chemicals out of balance. I started by setting up one of the typical under counter RO units in the greenhouse. This worked for a while, but as the plants started needing more water as the summer months came in, I found that the small RO system could not produce enough water.

I purchased this Hydro Logic Stealth unit, and have been extremely happy with it. It produces water with an electrical conductivity reading of 0.0, which is what you want for hydroponics. Next, I found that it had no trouble producing enough water for my 20X30 greenhouse running at full capacity. I also found that the amount of waste water generated was acceptable.

One suggestion . . . to get maximum benefit from this unit, dont try and hook it to a pressure tank. I have mine hooked to large plastic tanks, and connected to a float valve to turn the unit off when the tank if full. This allows you to really maximize the amount of RO water the unit produces.

I am delighted with this unit and would recommend it to anyone interested in hydroponic gardening.

(By the way, I grow Tomatoes, Lettuce, Peppers and Cucumbers)

Excellent product for the price! It arrived in the time stated and undamaged. It makes about 5 gallons per hour running at 50 psi. PPM of 8. Im getting a 4 to 1 waste ratio. The paperwork included claimed it was a 3 to 1 ratio but no big deal. It did come with a eco Waste reducer to change it to a 2 to 1 which im not using.

It came with all tubing needed to setup and start making RO water in less than min. The water line in came with a garden hose adapter but if you want to plum it in to your house you will need to set that up yourself which is actually simple if you havent done it before. You will also need an adapter for the waste line to tie in to existing plumbing if you choose.

I run this unit outside to a drum with a float valve, the unit comes with a auto shutoff that works great in combo with a float valve.
