iRobot Verro 600 Pool-Cleaning Robot

iRobot Verro 600 Pool-Cleaning RobotI bought this directly from irobot and ran it every 3 or 4 days for about 3 weeks before returning it to irobot. The technology is great and when the filter bag didn''t fall out, the pool was incredibly clean it really does sparkle, I was able to cut back on the number of hours the filter ran, and I noticed that I had to add less chemicals. The amount of slime that collects in the filter bag from an apparently clean pool is proof of how much it''s picking up. My pool never looked so nice and I only had to drop it in, go have dinner, come back and put it away.

Unfortunately, the build quality from irobot is poor. The tabs that hold the filter bag in place are too loose and the filter often falls out when you lift the robot out of the water dumping everything back in. The plastic protective cage between the filter and the motor has the same problem.

After some web research, I discovered that irobot licenses this technology from Aquabot. I returned this to irobot, and purchased an Aquabot T2 which I found for about the same price after shopping around. The T2 is nearly the same robot, but appears to have a much better build quality and a few enhancements over the irobot model (for instance the scrubbing pads don''t soak up water like the irobot''s causing it to smell funky between cleanings). In addition, my local pool store is an Aquabot repair shop, so I won''t be shipping it out if something goes wrong and I need it fixed under warranty.

I really wanted to like irobot''s version I like some of their other products and this simply looked friendlier (we dubbed it scrubby). Unfortunately, for this cost, I wanted three or more years of trouble-free use out of it, and I didn''t see that happening.

After using this all summer, I am very happy with this robot. It does a great job at cleaning our 16''x32'' vinyl in-ground pool, even with the solar cover on. I''ve only found a few minor drawbacks. Yes, if you don''t snap the bag in just right, it can pop out while cleaning, making it have less suction. If the filter is left on while vacuuming, the robot can''t clean around the return jets. And you must keep that bag clean when you are done vacuuming.

We store it in A Rubbermaid Patio Storage Bench, Dark Platinum #3764 and it just fits. The bench looks great and we can keep the robot by the pool.

The robot looked promosing at first. It certainly made its rounds in the pool. After taking it out an hour and a half later I noticed the bottom popped out at some time. It collected some of the sand and minor particles, but left the majority in the pool. We tried it 6 times with the same results.

I have a fiberglass pool and the robot does a nice job of cleaning the bottom and sides. It does not do well at negotiating the 3 steps, (gets 1/2 way up the first step and comes back down). Cleaning the included pouch style filter is a royal PIA with muck getting stuck in the corners of the pouch. The included cloth bag has torn at the seam 4 times and needed replacement. I''d wait for the next version.

Melitta Cone Filter Coffeemaker 10 Cup

Melitta Cone Filter Coffeemaker 10 Cup, 1-CountAfter my last coffee maker died (the fourth or fifth one in just eight years), I was sick of the electric coffee pot. This very simple set-up was inexpensive and doesn''t have any electrical parts to break.

The best thing, though, is that this makes the best coffee ever. Seriously. Here''s the method: I grind my beans right before brewing. I pour boiling water over the grounds, just enough to soak them. Then I pour again to fill the filter with water. And I stir with a spoon. Pour and stir, pour and stir, until all the water has gone through. Simple, easy, and amazingly good coffee. It''s way better than anything I got from my overpriced electrical machines.

As a kid in the 70s and 80s, my parents had one of these. Not being a coffee drinker, I always thought it was embarrassingly low tech. Now that I''m an adult (though still not a big coffee drinker), I wanted something inexpensive that wouldn''t take up a lot of counter space, would be easy to care for and would make decent coffee. After looking at various options, I finally settled on this one, and I''m glad I did. Not only does it work perfectly well, as advertised, it also makes great-tasting coffee (which is more than I can say about the little stovetop percolator I tried before investing in this one). It''s also easy to store in my cabinet when not in use.

Two additional notes: The coffee maker calls for size 6 filters, and those are great to have when you''re making a full pot. But if you''re just making coffee for 2-3 people, I''ve found size 4 filters work fine, and they''re cheaper and easier to come by. I''ve also found that the coffee filter cone will also work with an insulated carafe I bought separately.

Buy Melitta Cone Filter Coffeemaker 10 Cup Now

We''ve used one of these for years and love the simplicity and the quality of the coffee. I was quite upset when we left our last one behind while on vacation, but found them for sale here on Amazon. The biggest problem with them is finding the No. 6 filters if you need to make more than a couple of cups they are almost impossible to find in any of our local stores. You can find the No. 4 filters, which will do two large cups, but that is all. If you come across the No. 6 size, you had better stock up.

This makes far better coffee than my old Gevalia coffeemaker (the freebie they send when you sign up for their mail-order club.) I''m able to control the temperature of the water which I believe is the most important factor in making a great cup of joe. I pour the water in at just under boiling and keep the kettle on the heat while I''m brewing so that when I add more water it is the correct temperature -I try to maintain about 205degrees throughout. It''s simple and it works. It''d be perfect if the glass carafe were replaced with a thermal carafe, with a small ''window'' for checking water level. However, thermal carafes are widely available (I use the one that came with my Gevalia coffeemaker) so this is a minor complaint. Outside of a French Press, this makes the best-tasting coffee of any method I''ve tried (I haven''t tried cold brew yet, but have done percolators, auto-drip, press, and vacuum.) Another small complaint is that the instructions are a little vague -if you really want to make a great cup of coffee, experiment with the amount of coffee (should be about 2t per cup), grind (I use fine with the manual drip) and water temperature (about 200-210) and, of course, bean and roast (I like a moderate to light roast as unhip as that sounds, I believe the coffee flavor is more complex and, well, tasty, with these roasts.) Highly recommended.

The Melitta was a product that I looked for in stores for years. Of course I found it on Amazon. So simple, so fast, so great. I''d recommend this over any fancy electric coffee maker.

AquaSaver Gravity Rainwater Recovery System Save 30% Off

AquaSaver Gravity Rainwater Recovery SystemThe Algreen water barrels are pretty well-liked Canadian products, not cheap, but also well-made and reasonably aesthetic (unlike many of the repurposed 55 gallon drums out there). This kit includes the parts needed to hook up to the drainage off of a roof. Should be easy enough to adapt this kit for other rain barrels. Depending on your setup, you might be better off financially with parts from your local hardware store though.

This is a cheap plastic system that has spent more time laying on the ground after it''s fallen than it does up on my gutter system. The hose is nice, but even with the screws, the adapters are a poor fit for my downspouts. The filter/screen is the flat square in the photo that you''re supposed to curl into a tube and place in the top of the downspout to keep out debris it blew out with the first breeze that caught it my dog ate it and that''s probably the most useful thing I can say about it. Look for a different system, or if you''re mechanically inclined, go to your local home hardware store and build your own system. I''ll be cutting my downspouts down to a length where they stop just above my rainbarrelwithout an unsightly mess that constantly needs attention.

Buy AquaSaver Gravity Rainwater Recovery System Now

Pros:

relatively inexpensive

easy to install if you have the right downspout size

helps to save water

Cons:

does not fit the common 3"x4" downspout size

clogs easily with small debris which falls through the leaf gutter

difficult to clean once it is clogged

the leaf guard is completely useless

Other thoughts:

I did not read the product description carefully so I had to replace my 3x4 downspout by a 2x3 downspout which was a lot more work than I thought when I bought this product (one star deduction). Then it becomes clogged every spring with the small flower leaves from the trees. Once it is clogged, the water comes out where it is connected to the downspout and the water runs down the wall. You have to check periodically if there is anything clogged (one star discount). You have also to disassemble it completely for cleaning. Overall it is a good concept and saves you a lot on your water bill. But it would be a really great product if it would fit a 3x4 downspout and if it would not become clogged so often. I think if the water splitter could be removed, then all the water would go into the rain barrel. All rain barrels have a overflow outlet so there is no problem if the barrel is filled.

Read Best Reviews of AquaSaver Gravity Rainwater Recovery System Here

Not really sure what to think about this. All the downspouts in my local hardware stores are the same size and that size is substantially larger than the attachments included with this kit. There is no way to attach this system inline with my downspout, as it''s supposed to be.

I rigged it so it works, after a fashion, but I defintiely won''t be screwing up any more of my downspouts.

Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop Kit Save 22% Off

Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop Kit, FG1M1600GRYRDTo preface, for over 2 years now I''ve run the custodial department for a public school district, and I consequently have a fair amount of experience with the basic tools (mops, buckets, microfiber cloths and mop pads) in Rubbermaid''s professional line. The Rubbermaid Reveal has its roots based in their HYGEN professional line. As a result, I was very excited when I saw the commercial for the Reveal given the remarkable quality of the aforementioned HYGEN line. All that said, the transition from professional grade mop to all-in-one home mopping system wasn''t exactly seamless.

Pros:

1. Massive waste elimination given that you''re not forced to purchase proprietary cleaning solution or disposable pads.

2. Microfiber!! Picks up ~90% of bacteria vs. ~40% with a cotton mop (I''m not even going to get into the bacterial breeding ground that is a sponge mop).

3. Easy to store, handle has a pre-made hole for hanging.

4. Floating mop pad holder means that you can just about lay the handle on the floor while keeping the mop pad on the floor for tough to reach areas.

5. If you''re willing to forgo the solution bottle and just use a bucket, you could wash walls or ceilings with ease.

Cons:

1. The delivery system requires me to spray around 6 times to get a reasonable amount of solution on the floor. I got full-sprays with the trigger the first two squeezes, since then about half of the trigger''s action is nothing but wasted movement. Could just be a problem with mine.

2. Microfiber is great, but when you''re not constantly rinsing the pad, debris WILL accumulate and microfiber has the unfortunate habit of depositing built up debris on the edge of the pad back on your floor.

3. Just some nit-picky stuff here Unit doesn''t feel solid. The microfiber pads that come with the unit don''t even begin to measure up to the quality of their HYGEN line counter-parts in terms of fiber density or amount of launderings they can endure.

All in all, this is a solid investment that''s going to give you a great quality of clean for the life of the product and save you money in the long term.

I am so in love with this mop, that''s a funny thing to say, but it''s true. I have used a good quality microfiber mop for years, and I have tried the cheap versions they sell in stores now days, don''t waste your money on the cheap ones. I clean homes and a couple of churches and decided I needed to get more refills for my current microfiber mop. I also considered getting one of those Swiffer mops, then I saw the commercial for the Reveal Spray Mop. I did a little research on line, and read the reviews on it, I figured I''d give it a try.

I priced it here and on Rubbermaid''s site, this is the better deal here on Amazon, you get the mop, 3 microfiber mop pads and 2 bottles, on Rubbermaid''s site, you only get the mop, 1 pad and 1 bottle, plus you have to pay for shipping, get it here, much better deal.

When I received it, the box looked too small, but it turned out the mop handle came in two pieces. There are no instructions in the box, but the handle snapped together pretty easily, and it doesn''t come a part easily after that. The pads are impressive, they are much thicker than my original microfiber mop pads, that comes in very handy, you don''t have to change (or rinse) the pads as often. One thing you must do when you are using a microfiber mop is you have to either change the pads or rinse the pads, just like you would have to rinse a sponge or string mop, it only picks up so much dirt then it needs a rinse or change, that''s no big deal once you realize that, with this kit, since you get 3 pads, it''s not a problem, once the pad stops cleaning, just change to a clean pad.

I washed the 3 pads before I used them (I do that with any microfiber product I get). A bit of advice, with any microfiber product, wash in hot water, do not wash with towels (it will pick up the lint from the towels), do not use chlorine bleach, that will destroy the material, and finally, do not use any sort of fabric softener, the microfiber will suck up the fabric softener and then it will not pick up dirt, it will just leave smears. When it comes out of the dryer, it will have lots of static cling, that is a good thing, especially if you are going to use it as a dry dust mop.

I had the chance to use my new mop at church a few days after I received it. I filled the bottle most of the way with water, then I added just a little ammonia (don''t use too much or you will have to rinse the ammonia off). I first cleaned 2 glass doors, then started on the floor. I was immediately impressed with it, the thicker pads pick up so much more dirt and liquid, it cleaned the windows without leaving any streaks. I have since used it on many other floors with equally wonderful results. I am so impressed, I am so glad I didn''t buy a Swiffer mop, it''s a great idea but with the Reveal mop, you don''t have to buy refill pads nor do you have to buy refill cleaner. You can use whatever cleaner you want in this bottle, just remember, no chlorine bleach. And also, use less cleaner than you think you''ll need, the microfiber pad is more than capable of cleaning with plain water.

I like the swivel feature, I figured out a trick if you are having to mop under a bed or other low furniture, turn the mop over so that the bottle is on the bottom of the handle, that way you will not catch the bottle on the bed frame or furniture. The handle has a trigger that sprays the water/cleaner, it sprays in a good pattern, just a few inches in front of the mop, in a near perfect rectangular pattern about the same size as the mop head. I was able to spray it on the glass door by holding it level and spraying it toward the glass.

If you are cleaning a place that has a dog or cat, you will need to sweep very well, it''s nearly impossible to get up all the animal hair, what will happen is when you are mopping, the animal hair will bunch up in front of the mop head, it''s nearly impossible to keep that from happening, I just push the hair into one spot and pick it up after I finish mopping. It''s not a flaw in the mop, it would do that with any microfiber mop.

The mop feels quite sturdy, the pads are thick and substantial, I feel confident this will keep me happily mopping for many years.

I have recommended this to all of my friends. So far, everyone who has seen it wants one. I give it a big thumbs up.

I have used a Swiffer Wet for several years. I also have a steam mop that I''ve had for a couple of years that was a gift. Before that, it was basically scrub brush and bucket on hands & knees.

Let''s face it to get your floor really clean, the scrub brush is the way to go. On my kitchen/breakfast area/hall/half bath (the expanse of bare floor that needs to be washed), it''s a two to three hour cleaning process (vacuum the dog hair and crumbs, scrub (changing water at least 2 or 3 times) and let dry). That''s a long time and a lot of wear and tear on the knees. I started using the Swiffer Wet when I wanted to get the worst of the dirt without the toil. It still took ~45 minutes and at least 5 or 6 pads. The steam cleaner was nicer except for managing the electrical cord so I could cover the entire area without walking on wet floor, and changing the floor pads which were really hot when I wanted to remove them (doh!). I also didn''t like the length of time it took for the steamed floor to dry.

So, I saw the Rubbermaid product and thought it was worth a try. I liked the changeable, washable cleaning pads, and the fact that I could use my own favorite floor product in the bottle.

This is not a great product if you want deep cleaning. Maybe over time, because it''s easy and fast, I''ll wash my floor more often and won''t need the deep cleaning. Or maybe I''ll scrub it once more and maintain it with the Rubbermaid mop.

On the Plus side it took about a half an hour to do my entire floor, I didn''t even use one whole bottle of solution, the pads stayed beautifully in place on the mop-head and are now in the laundry waiting to be washed, I was able to use Pine Sol, which makes the whole house smell clean (although I think I''ll try more concentrated ammonia next time to see if it cleans better), and the floor dried fairly fast.

On the Con side there is still dirt caught in the floor (no wax vinyl) textured areas (not good; it''s white) and it''ll probably take scrubbing to get it out, the sprayer tended to dribble a bit, so it was a little messy changing the pad, and I sprayed the bottom edges of the cabinets in some places (I have noted the suggestions in some other reviews). These are not deal breakers.

This is probably well worth the cost of the system, and be sure to have two or three pads available when you do your floor. It''s easy enough to change them so you aren''t washing your floor with a dirty pad, and then you put them all into the washer when you''re done. I can''t begin to guess what I''ve spent on Swiffer wet pads in the past several years, and just threw them away when they got dirty. The Swiffer is more convenient to use if you have a quick wipe up to do, although mixing up the cleaning solution in the bottle isn''t very difficult. The biggest challenge for me is that the floor always needs to be vacuumed completely before washing, otherwise, I''m just pushing dog hair around it. As someone who just doesn''t want to spend a lot of time on floors (once a week, thanks), I think I''ll get a lot of use out the Rubbermaid Reveal. It''s definitely worth trying.

UPDATE -

I tried an ammonia solution that was twice as strong as recommended by the fill lines on the bottle (plain ammonia and water only). It worked beautifully. No more hands and knees, I think! I''m thinking there''s nothing wrong with regular floor-cleaning products (my husband thought the ammonia fumes were a little strong, but they dissipated), but if you have a really dirty floor, you might need to adapt. I wonder how they determine the fill concentrations, because even double strength Pine Sol might have worked.

Also, the pads are great. I''ve been careful not to put them in the dryer with dryer sheets, and actually laid them on top of the dryer once because the rest of the load needed the dryer sheets. The design is really clever in that they do not get tangled up with nylon socks, or other snaggy stuff. The pricky part is on the mop-head. Did a woman think of that?!

My kitchen has a wood laminate floor (which I would never again install in that space). Laminate floors don''t like to get wet, yet a kitchen floor must be mopped. I have used an O-Cedar microfiber mop for many years with acceptable results. That mop and the tired microfiber pads have been tossed out. This is an amazing product. The microfiber pad does a fantastic job on my floor. I''ve been using the Pledge Multi-Surface floor cleaner with it and get streak-free results in conjunction with the superb pad. I rinse the pad out about half-way through the job to cut down on debris getting trapped and deposited on my floor. My only complaint is that I haven''t been able to find additional pads at my grocery, Target or WalMart stores. I will be ordering a couple more from Amazon. I highly recommend this product.

  • This Genuine Franke FRX02 Triflow Filter Replacement Cartridge Fits Filtration Systems Included With Franke Triflow Faucets
  • Recommended Replacement Period Is Six Months Or Sooner If There Is A Noticeable Change In Water Quality
  • This cartridge is compatible with most Franke faucets

I have had a Franke water filter for many years now. I replace the filters regularly, as recommended. This can be quite expensive. I initially went to the Franke site, and ended paying $90 per replacement filter. I then went to alternate sites and purchased less expensive filters. I found that these filters were generic, made in other countries, and seemed of less quality, although their ratings and specifications matched Franke. Then I found Amazon. I get the best of both, a far cheaper price, and the actual Franke filter. The 2-pack is an even better deal. If you have a Franke water filter, this is the best place to purchase the actual filter. As a bonus, mine arrived a few days after I ordered it. Fabulous!

I gave this three stars because I did not know what else to do. This twin pack arrived reasonably quickly from the UK. The price was certainly right. The problem is that although the filters were advertised by the vendor on Amazon as genuine Franke FRX92 filters, they were NOT. They were labeled as Doulton filters for the Franke system. I was definitely ticked at this false advertising. When I emailed the vendor, I was told that Doulton in the UK was authorized by Franke for their filter systems. The vendor did give me the option of a refund if I was still not satisfied. Since paying for shipping back to the UK was not economically feasible for the vendor, I was told to break the two filters and send the vendor a picture of the broken items. I did so and immediately received a refund on my credit card. So the company was true to its word in this regard. If you are content with the Doulton and not set on the Franke branded item, this may work for you at a great price. I wanted only the genuine Franke product.

KRUPS KM4055, 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Save 30% Off

KRUPS KM4055, 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, BlackI believe that Krupps Coffeemakers make the best coffee. Mine was over ten year old and needed replacement. I didn''t like the all metal look of the Coffeemakers on Amazon and was glad when they came out with this black one. It truly makes good coffee and it looks nice too. My main complaint is the water fill tank in the back is small and hard to hit the right spot without spilling (see photo). This is why I didn''t give it five stars. The level indicator is also rather hard to see, and I have to guess as to how full it is. It seems like all Krupps Carafe''s dribble a bit, but I am used to that by now. I still really like it, even with it''s faults.

UPDATE: After a little more than a year, it died. I purchased Krupps all my life, but no more.

My previous Krups coffee maker was made in Germany and worked perfectly for almost 20 years. It finally died over the Xmas holidays after heavy usea solenoid apparently fried (I took it apart to see if I could fix it as I hated to part with an original German-quality appliance).

My new Krups works fine (made in China), but after a few uses I wanted to wash the carafe in the dishwasher. Lo and behold the carafe top could not be removed, and the carafe therefore cannot be washed in the dishwasher.

I think most people like to wash their carafes in the dishwasher every week or so to keep them shiny and clean. Not being able to do this is a major negative for this coffeemaker.

Otherwise I have not had any problems with the coffee it makes. But I would not recommend it to anybody who wants to wash the glass carafe in the dishwasherwhich I think most people like to do.

Buy KRUPS KM4055, 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Now

As you would expect from a Krups coffee maker, yes it does make excellent coffee, but there are a couple of very annoying design flaws. The worst in my opinion is the tiny space you have to hit when you''re pouring the water in it. The lid is in the way which compounds the problem. The second concerns the pot itself in 2 areas the lid is not removable for cleaning and when you are pouring coffee from the pot, the steam comes through a hole between the handle and the lid and is uncomfortably hot on your thumb. The pot also has a tendency to dribble coffee while pouring. Another fault, although a minor one is that the stainless lid you have to close over the basket is very prone to fingerprint smudges. In all I think it is a pretty disappointing coffee maker considering the quality Krups is known for. *** Updated 11/8/2010 *** ...and after only 9 months the piece of junk DIED in mid-pot of making coffee. The heater element croaked I would assume. Krups has a history of making the best coffee pots available in my opinion, but this one really SUCKS for lack of a better description.

I believe that people are not comparing the correct product to product. The black Krups is just a coffee maker. Model # km465 is a Krups Dahlstrom. Model # km5065, sold only at Wm of Sonoma and made especially for them, is a Krups Dahlstrom with more bells and whistles. It heats the water 21% faster. Important to research when making such an investment.

We got this unit to replace a unit we have had for several years that just got old. We have been using this coffee maker for 3 days now without issue. There are some setup concerns though. There is a water filter screen attached to the removable coffee v-cone that covers the water-filling area. Using the screen-filter greatly slows water flow as you fill the tank. Since we have a whole house filtering system I don''t see a need for this. It removes easily. The instructions for your initial use are very poorly written and totally useless. Follow the cleaning process steps for your initial water cleaning steps. This unit doesn''t drip. The black carafe edge does limit totally emptying the carafe but the amount of water or coffee remaining is very small; so, no big deal. At this point I''m very satisfied and fully recommend this coffee maker.

BISSELL Lift-Off Floors & More PetI''m not sure why some people are having such an issue with the BISSEL LIFT-OFF FLOORS & MORE PET VACUUM? Maybe they''ve got big dogs that shed a ton of hair or something or they''re trying to use this thing as a regular vacuum cleaner and that could explain the performance problems.

I''ve got a small/medium sized Shiba Inu who sheds twice a year and so far the BISSELL LIFT-OFF has performed really well. I wouldn''t use this to vacuum carpets or large areas; this machine is basically a handheld vacuum that gives you the option of going on the hard floors (wood, tile) like an upright, to clean up stray hairs, debris, and the like, but don''t expect it to actually perform like a regular upright vacuum.

The handheld part comes off with a push of a button and I''ve used it to suck up hair off of my bed. My dog has red/cream colored fur and I''ve got black sheets (woof!), so I see ALL the hairs that fall off and stick to the bed, and the LIFT-OFF does a pretty decent job of cleaning it up, picking up mostly all of the hair with the exception of the really thin, fine ones that are hard to grasp even with fingers.

Using it as an upright with the brush spinning, the BISSELL LIFT-OFF sucked-up my hair off the bathroom floor, after I trimmed it, even with the floor being wet, which is a nightmare to pickup using something like a broom and dustpan or Swiffer sheets. I usually trim my hair in-between visits to the salon, and after I cut/trim, I must rinse off in the shower before I can clean up the hair (otherwise hair continues to litter the floor) and that''s why the floor gets damp/wet, so the BISSELL worked well in this case.

I do agree with other reviewers that the filter inside the canister gets clogged with pet hair and dust rather quickly. My solution is to clean it with a dry toothbrush. The filter comes out easily so you can also wash it out but make sure that the FILTER IS DRY before placing it back in the unit. I did that, thinking it would dry in it, but it did not (because I guess not enough air gets inside the canister) so it remained damp; when I tried to use it next, there wasn''t any suction. That''s when I discovered that the filter didn''t dry at all and I had to dry it on the counter before I could use it again. It''s much easier to clean it (dry) with a dry toothbrush until you must wash it out (maybe after several uses).

Another thing I''ve noticed is that the machine works a lot quieter than my old Dirt Devil handheld.

***** GOOD *****

Easy To Assemble -No tools required. Just snap the two parts into the handle.

Two Modes -Aside from going handheld to upright, in upright mode you can select either just suction or suction + spin brush.

Stands Upright -The broom stands on its own.

Cordless -No getting tangled with cords and the charge seems to hold for awhile.

***** BAD *****

Small Areas -The unit is best used for small areas and not large areas or on lots of carpeted areas.

Handheld -Trigger must be depressed continuously when using as a handheld vacuum.

Filter -Gets clogged quickly; No brush is included to clean off pet hairs from filter.

Anyway, if you''re looking for something more along the lines of a regular vacuum cleaner that can also be used as a handheld to get into hard to reach places, perhaps this isn''t the unit for you. This should be used as an addition to your regular vacuum cleaner for quick clean-ups, especially in pet areas, and not for heavily trafficked/polluted areas. For those areas, I would suggest looking for an upright vacuum that has a hose attachment with different heads so that it can be used both on carpet (as an upright) and also on areas like a bed or other places where an upright vacuum cannot reach.

So, out of the box no manual, but very easy to put together in 2 quick steps. We were ok there.

I liked the initial look and feel of it. I LOVE the swivel head. I love how easy it is to store it away. I love that it can fold up neatly and be stored away in a closet, OR it can stay "opened" and stand neatly, perfectly in a corner, always waiting for use. I love that it is a handheld, PLUS a stick vac (that itself is part of the problem though...)

...As I was saying, this is a (weak) handvac on a stick. It has no power. No suck. No oomph.

Well, as long as what I need cleaned up can be done in about 30 seconds, this unit is fairly ok. The charge does not last. If I try to use it for more than literally a few minutes, you can hear it dying off. I will give it 5 minutes tops and that is being generous. And then guess what You have to charge it for all but a full day before you can use it again! Um, what?!

I had hopes of using it for light cleanups of the random pet hair, dust bunnies, etc nothing major and I never planned on it being my main vacuum, of course. I have hardwood floor, tile, and natural(glazed) stone floors, with a few area or throw rugs scattered about.

My main idea for using this was in my laundry area because there seems to be so much lint, hair (human & pet), and random little bits of who knows what from the kids throwing their dirty laundry in on the pile. The floor in the laundry area is lineoleum. There is a 4ft by 14 ft closet on the left, the hallway down the center, which has about a 3.5ft width and then the washer and dryer are on the right. The end of the hallway opens into the bathroom. So, I thought this would be great for this area because I really hate using my main vac and attachments etc to do this area. It is a pain.

Well, so much for my big idea. This vac does not hold a charge long enough to get the area done. Now, I don''t need an hour, not a half hour even maybe a good 10 minutes to really do it thoroughly. But no, I can''t get that with this vac. It starts off OK. But it quickly dies off and will suck up next to nothing.

I do have 3 long haired cats, but surprisingly they do not shed much at all, and they do get brushed often, so this helps. My short haired dog is who sheds the most actually, but it is still not alot. It''s not like you look around and see blobs of hair everywhere. So, this shouldn''t be a tough job, but this vac cannot handle it? AND it''s marketed as a "Pet" vac?? Really?

I thought the roller brush feature would be nice for doing the low pile throw rugs quickly when I don''t feel like dragging out the main vac. Again, it does OK, but you have to be fast and it will only grab the smallest and lightest particles.

I cannot recommend this product. Imagine a weakly powered handvac duct taped to a broom handle that is basically what you have here, except this one folds neatly for storage.

I really wish it did work better because I honestly love the swivel head. It can get into all areas and is sooo easy to maneuver. It just lacks any type of power and the charge is absolutely terrible. Using it as just a handvac is fair at best as well. I mean if the kids got sugar all over the counter, sure you can clean that up quickly, but you can''t do much else and you will still have some leftover sugar to wipe up with a rag/sponge... Oh, and the rubber "Pet nozzle" hinders the vac from sliding on a smooth surface (like the countertop) it sticks, skips and pulls.

And you most definitely DO have to hold the button in the whole time you are using it as a handheld. There is no on/off button for the handheld, but as a stickvac it has on/off and roller brush on or off.

I love this thing... it works great!

I love that it''s light and I can move it around easily. The swivel head is great to move around furniture and it helps to move to the next section when I do my little carpet. I can do the whole downstairs before the battery runs out. That''s 2 bedrooms and a living room in wood, 1 bathroom in tile, 1 dining room, kitchen and family room in linoleum. This guy works on all these floor types.

I have just a few throw rugs here and there and also bathroom rugs and this works great on them, too. It''s also very easy to empty out and clean!

I know I am keeping my floors much cleaner due to this machine. It takes a lot of the work out of cleaning the floors and somehow makes it a bit fun.

*** UPDATE January 19, 2013 ***

I received a very nice floor vacuum for Christmas. Honestly, it''s very nice. It''s very powerful and it works very well. But, I find myself never, ever using it. It''s just too cumbersome. It''s heavy and it''s hard to move around. Plus, it''s not battery operated so I need to plug it in to an outlet in each room I vacuum. It''s just too much work.

I am loving this Bissell more and more. It''s what I reach for when I want to clean my floors and my little rugs and I''m so thankful I have it. It''s so quick and light and easy to use. My floors are cleaner now that I use this and I spend less time keeping them clean. I can''t live without it now.

We have a Eureka stick vacuum stick that is brand new and a solid performer. However, there were a couple things we didn''t like about it so decided to try the Bissell. Comparing the Bissell to the Eureka, here''s how it shook out:

Pros:

Handling. The handling of the Bissell is better. It''s smooth rolling on the tiles and corners better. (Note that we use this only on tile as I''ve yet to see any stick that can compare to a regular vacuum cleaner on carpet)

Ease of Assembly. The Bissell wins here too. My wife assembled both and although the Eureka wasn''t hard the Bissell was drop dead easy.

Charger. Bissell wins. The Eureka comes with a rack that you can mount on the wall and the charger is aligned to the rack. The Bissell is a straight plug in and the height is aligned to the electrical outlets (appox. 16" from the floor in our house). You just plug it in and lean it against the wall. The balance is such that it stays upright easily so you can pretty much store it near any outlet you want.

Settings. Tie. Both have a tile and brush setting. We use the stick for tile but the brush can come in handy on particularly dirty areas like corners.

Suction. Eureka wins here. Bissell is satisfactory for our use but the Eureka was a little better.

Charge. Tie. We have a 2700 sq. ft. home about 1/2 of which is tile. A full charge allows us to get all the tile in one charge but it does take the entire charge to do it. Charging time, after the initial charge of appox. 24-48 hours, charging time is 16 hours.

Dust Buster. Tie. Both easily disconnect and reconnect. The Bissell has rubber teeth on the end for scraping carpet which is handy for pet hair but it''s not a significant advantage.

Cleaning. Tie. Both brands are easy to clean. Snap off the dust buster, unsnap the plastic cylinder, empty, re-attach. Nothing to it.

Overall my wife and I like the Bissell better. It''s smoother to operate and much handier to store. For a tool like this where you want to use it often, quick and easy is a key and the Bissell shines in that area.

I picked this vacuum up because the one I wanted was sold out. Let me keep you from making the same mistake. After trying to use this for three months and finding myself making excuses for it, I have to say its a piece of junk.

The only thing it can do for me is pick up individual dog hairs off hardwood stairs. Not a cluster or a clump, just little hairs. It has no power for regular rugs, can''t pull cobwebs from corners, dust bunnies from under beds, or lint clinging to electric fans like on the back of a computer.

It''s hard to clean the small dust compartment , the little rubber flap that is suppose to keep stuff inside gets stuck open and the tunnel leading to it gets clogged. You have to clear it each time. Battery life is bad, has to be charged after each attempt to vacuum house. I won''t even unload this at a garage sale, it''s going straight to recycle. What a waste of money.

Swizz Style EMS-164 "Aquila" Ultrasonic Humidifier Save 20% Off

Swizz Style EMS-164 ''Aquila'' Ultrasonic HumidifierThe humidifier works really well and produces great vapor with a good quality mineral filter and ionic silver to inhibit bacterial growth. For function alone, I would give this 5 starts. But I gave it two stars because of the obnoxious, ultra-bright internal LED lights that cannot be turned off. The lights are so bright that it lights up the entire room at night. It''s not an ambient glow, it''s BRIGHT. I received this as a gift for my son''s nursery, and the only way I can use it is to rig pen caps as "covers" for the LED lights (I can''t use tape because they''re located IN the water reservoir) and then wrap the tank in black fabric. Even then, it still puts off a glow that''s about equivalent to a bright night light. It''s such a pain in the neck to get this thing set up with the pen caps and the fabric that I avoid using it. This would be a great product if not for the internal lights. What a horrible design flaw.

I knew from other reviews that this humidifier had lights that you cannot turn off when it is functioning. This is 100 percent true. The blue LEDs are beneath the tank and while you can dim them, you cannot turn the lights off while the unit is functioning. This is a drawback, but shouldn''t completely discourage you. The light is not that bright when dimmed and I agree with another reviewer that it is no more disruptive than a fishtank light.

There are TWO really AWESOME things about this humidifier that are unique and great. I own two other brands, so I know what I''m talking about.

1. The humidity comes out like a ''smoke'' and not wet. Everyone who has seen this operate has commented on how they want one like this with the super fine ''smoke'' and not just misting wet air and ruining everything within a few feet. This really does look like it''s smoking rather than misting and surfaces within its proximity do not get wet. It doesn''t have a fan to push the humidity in a certain direction, but it does have the ability to aim the nozzle on the top to different directions. The humidity ''smoke'' will be going straight up though and you will see it sink and roll across the surface, just like smoke. It''s actually rather cool to watch.

2. The footprint of this is so small. I am renting an apt while my home is being renovated and my apt is really small. It''s so great that this takes up no more space on the counter than a ballet slipper. My other humidifiers take a lot of counter space, so this being so small is a big plus. The downside is that you will have to refill the tank if you intend to run it all day. It doesn''t hold as much water as my other units.

One concern I have is with the calcium/anti-bac filter in the middle of the tank. We had a few warm days, so I emptied everything to let it dry out and the calc/anti-bac filter never did dry out and when you''d shake it, it clearly still had water in it. It has some sort of microbeads in it and is impossible to dry out. I just put it all back together and refilled the tank because it turned cold again. I question where you can buy a replacement for this filter, since it is obviously meant to be thrown away after a couple months use and there''s no way to dry it out. Doesn''t look like Amazon carries the filters yet. If someone knows how I can obtain more filters, please let me know.

All-in all, this is a cool little unit and raised the humidity in my 600sq ft apt without problems. Just don''t expect much if you are using this in a large house. You''ll need to close it off in a room for the best effectiveness.

Buy Swizz Style EMS-164 "Aquila" Ultrasonic Humidifier Now

The Swizz Style humidifier looks great and has many good design points. It''s thin enough to stand on my windowsill. I think $80 is far too much to pay for a humidifier; even one with features as this one.

It consumes about 1 gallon (1 tankful) per day. There is no option to adjust the (light) rate of mist production --which is fine for me. The various blue LED lights (on the AC adapter, next to the on/off switch, and under the water tank) are too bright to sleep with, so I have covered them with black electrical tape.

Since the tank capacity is only one gallon, it doesn''t get too heavy or unwieldy to bring from the faucet. Like other humidifiers where the mist stack goes through the water tank, there will be a few drops of condensation clinging to the stack that will fall out as you bring the tank to be filled; but it''s not as bad as the Crane drop-shaped humidifiers that will essentially drip on the entire path.

I like the idea of the filter and the ionic silver; however, after two months of use, the reddish-brown algae or mildew that comes out of my faucets has taken up residence in this machine. (Better than the one month it took for the Crane.) This is easier to clean than the Crane drop-shaped humidifier: the vent at the top of the mist stack pops out, providing access to clean the inside surfaces.

I like that the LEDs turn red when the tank needs to be refilled. Simply refilling the tank won''t resume mist production, though --you need to press the on/off button for the machine to reset.

So far, it seems to work great. Thought I should weigh in and say that, in my opinion, the light is not "bright" at all. At most, it is the strength of a night light, or an alarm clock. I have it at the foot of my bed and am nevertheless not kept up by the light or noise.

We typically use humidifiers for our two daughters this time of year, and this "Aquila" Ultrasonic Humidifier arrived just a day or two after three out of four members of the family were diagnosed with sinus infections. This was perfectly easy to set up right out of the box. Literally taking it from my porch to pressing the on button took, at most, seven or eight minutes. This is a compact, well-made unit that really packs a punch. It works better than the humidifier we had been using, despite only being half its size.

Alas, there is a drawback and it borders on being significant. As another reviewer pointed out, the blue glow produced by this tiny device can be quite powerful and distracting in a dark room. I read through the instructions carefully, and even though the booklet gave the impression that the LED light could be dimmed or turned off completely, I found only three settings total regular, dim light, and off. Indeed, there is no option to completely turn off the light and still use this unit. The "dim" setting is slightly less irritating but does not make a huge difference.

So, will I stop using it because of the light? No. No one had any real difficulty falling asleep. The light is comparable to a fish tank or small reading lamp. Just be aware before you make your purchase that this unit will light up and stay lit as long as the humidifier is working.

was in line and was a mess to change.

The problems that the one of the previous users

was reporting can be avoided by checking the manual

for your fridge for reseting the warning light. It''s easy,

once you know how to do it.

And even if you never get the little red light to go out

the filters come with date stickers so you can be reminded

of installation and the effect filtering and you get a product

that functions very well.

I purchased a new home in august that came with a fridge that used one of these filters. I noticed when I would get water from the fridge water dispensers it would always taste metallic. Then one day the change filter light came on so I bought one of these filters and now the water from the fridge tastes great. These things really do work! They are easy to install as well.

Full Circle Reach Bottle Brush, FC10112

Full Circle Reach Bottle Brush, FC10112I use this on my coffee mug I take in the car, my water bottle for the gym and my baby bottles. This is one handy brush! It works better than other bottle brushes because it cleans inside and out at the same time. You can squeeze the handle and really get some leverage around the rim to clean off coffee and lipstick stains. I love that this is dishwasher safe as well. It has lasted forever! I highly recommend this brush.

I found the brush to be very useful and very well made. You can mold the wires holding the bristles enough to get a good cleaning but they aren''t so flexible they provide no scrubbing power. The bristles are harder than a baby bottle brush but softer than the pan scrubbing brush I own, so it''ll get out stuck in residue but shouldn''t damage typical coffee mugs and bottles.

Buy Full Circle Reach Bottle Brush, FC10112 Now

I have only used this for baby bottles, but I think the issues I have would be frustrating for any use. The number one issue I have is that the longer brush unscrews from the handle when you use it. I have to screw it back in between each bottle. Secondly, the bristles have flattened after only moderate use. Lastly, because of the two sided design (which doesn''t really help, I still wash the outside of the bottles with a sponge), you can''t angle the brush to clean one side or the other. I''m not sure if that makes sense, but its annoying.
