Kenmore Single Undersink Drinking Water System

Kenmore Single Undersink Drinking Water SystemThis filter was rated highly by Comsumers Reports some years ago, and it''s very effective. It does everything advertised: removes odors and improves taste. However, the faucet is cheap: it''s plastic and feels flimsy. Replace that with a metal one and you''re in business. The filter also allows easy access if you keep the water lines long! Then the filter just lifts up from the attacment screws and you can then have plenty of room to remove the case and replace the filter. More info: The product is made by Ecodyne, and the filter replacement part # has been chnged from SEARS PART NUMBER: 42-34373 to Substitution: 3437327.

Clear Flow Long Life Disposable Bath Faucet Filter Save 23% Off

Clear Flow Long Life Disposable Bath Faucet Filter, WhiteI''m very happy with this purchase. I had found brushing my teeth very unpleasant because the water smelled so much like chlorine and other chemicals. I wished that they made something like a Brita/Pur filter for the bathroom faucet, like they do for kitchen faucets. I jokingly searched for it and was surprised to see it existed! I''ve been using it daily for 6 months with no signs of needing to be replaced. (It allegedly lasts a year, but I was skeptical.) The status light is a little difficult to see (I occasionally have to turn it on with the bathroom light out to see if it''s still green), and I do wish there was a greener option of replacing an inner filter rather than throw out the whole thing in a year.

I was very excited to receive this, because I wanted to bathe a baby using filtered water. I really wanted to love this, and give it 5 stars, as installation was easy, and the concept, great. However, I was led to believe, according to the description, that this would last 1 year. Naturally, because I was using this to filter baby bath water, I didn''t expect it to last a full year. However, I DID expect it to last at least 2-3 mos. I was sadly mistaken. I installed the day I received this, and ONLY used to filter the bath water. Again, I WAS expecting this to run out faster than even 6 mos., due to the fact that I was filling a baby bath halfway full. I was not, however, prepared for it to run out in 20 days time. Also, it technically ran out in ten days time (10 uses), because it was ONLY used every other day. In any case, it ran out much too quickly. I would like to be very clear that I was NOT filling a bath tub; rather, a baby bath, halfway full. To be fair, I would also like to mention that I have not tried to contact Clear Flow or Amazon, but I read reviews by other Amazon reviewers (on similar clear flow models), having had the same issue of filter not lasting anywhere near 1 year. I would have given at least two or three stars if the description had specified that this would last 6 mos.-1 year based upon very light, daily use. However, it did not, nor did the instructions, paperwork, etc. I guess it''s back to the drawing board! :((

the red light came up after about using it for two weeks. I wonder if it''s because my water is really THAT dirty or just the product itself doesn''t last that long like it says on the description for about a year. :(

We live in a superfund site. Its been since 1982 when they found TCE in our ground water, and its spreading fast. Even though the EPA and our water company is suppose it be working on it, I have not been confident enough to drink the water. I have been buying Eternal Bottle Water for about a year now. Now our local news station did a story about Chroium 6 in our water! The next day I order the bath filters, shower filters and kitchen under sink filters, as well as a garden hose filter. They are all NSF rated Standard ANSI 53 and 42. 53 is for all VOC''s and 42 is for Clorine and Particulate. Even Dr Oz did a story about our nation''s drinking water problems. Just installed my ClearFlow bathroom filters, they were easy to installed and I have a greater peace of mind.

I just moved to LA, and the water here is horrible. We installed filters in the kitchen, bathroom, and shower to get rid of the nasty taste (and the water was (is) giving my roommate and I acne, which we''ve never had in our lives). This filter says it''s supposed to last for a year, and the indicator light will tell you when it''s time to replace it ours turned red in 5 days. FIVE days. And we were making sure to use it really sparingly. I called their customer service number, and a different company answered and said it was no longer Clear Flow''s number. Their website also doesn''t exist anymore. It appears this place may have gone out of business. Maybe the filter works in places where the water is already pretty good, but NOT in LA. Or, maybe we got a defective filter. But either way, I don''t want a product from a company that apparently doesn''t exist. Don''t waste your time.

Suraki Ozone Generator Room Air Purifier

Suraki Ozone Generator Room Air PurifierThe company I bought it from is good to deal with, but the product lacks a few important features. The way the purifier is designed is quite poor unless you want an ozone purifier that will run only up to 90 minutes a day. There are three settings and the highest setting is such that the ozone comes on for only 10 minutes every 90 minutes. That''s only 90 minutes a full day. If that is how much ozone you want then you may be happy with it. My need for the ozone was much greater than that so it was a waste for me.

Lasted about 2 weeks then motor started whining! Sure it won''t last long now, piece of garbage! Don''t waist your money on it plus it only generates 30 sec every half hour.

Doesn''t really do anything. Never noticed any difference in the air quality. After using it for about 1 month, the motor bearings wore out and the device simply screetches. Can''t send it back cuz my time has run out. I''ll just throw it away.

These little things do a great job of keeping bacteria, etc from growing in my humidifier. I have been using my humidifier daily for 8 months, and these have really cut down on the number of times that I have to clean the tank. I usually buy them at my retail giant store for much less, but they don''t seem to carry them during the summer. I was willing to pay a little more this time just because I''ve gotten used to the convenience.

Farberware FSU236 36-Cup Coffee Urn

Farberware FSU236 36-Cup Coffee UrnFarberware FSU236 Stainless-Steel 36-Cup Coffee Urn

I purchased this urn for a party I was hosting a few weeks ago. I was totaling surprised at the quality for the price I paid . It is very elegant looking and could be used for any type of function, either casual or formal. I don''t like ordering on line because sometimes the item isn''t want it looks like, but this wasn''t the case.

This style of Farberware urn has been around for quite some time. I wanted one for use when my regular pot didn''t hold enough. This urn will pick up right where a 12-cup home pot leaves off; don''t be misled by the total capacity as it will happily make much less. Unlike the other urns I''ve seen, this one doesn''t look like a refugee from a diner. It is attractive enough to appear on anyone''s buffet table. Unlike many other urns, it is all stainless. I''ve been reading about aluminum leaching from aluminum pots into coffee; not a worry with this one. There is a very large domed lid, as can be seen, and the equally large coffee basket resides underneath. It works like any other percolator; fill with water to the level desired, put the appropriate amount of ground coffee in the basket, and let it do its work. Farberware has always advertised its speed, and certainly this one brews at a cup-a-minute or faster. The coffee made is typically percolator coffee--strong and black, which is the way I like it. This urn will certainly keep the coffee piping hot, but doesn''t seem to leave that burned odor and flavor that so many urns do in commercial establishments. Of course, I haven''t kept coffee for umpteen hours in it, either. These large urns are very easy to clean, as they are of such a large diameter.

I had a MirroMatic urn before this Farberware; I definitely got the burned odor/flavor in that one. I think it had to burn its element more and hotter because the walls of the urn were so thin and lost heat very quickly. This Farberware is much more substantial. Stand it next to a less expensive urn and you will see why it costs more. With this item, you indeed get what you pay for!

I purchased this coffee pot a few weeks ago for my daughter''s graduation party. Not only did it look great (loved the contemporary shape rather than the old upright style), the coffee was perfect, not bitter and stayed hot for hours, not minutes. Also the stout shape made it easier to clean and fill than the traditional style. You can make as little as 12 cups in this coffee urn with no problem..the markings are clear. This is a pricier coffee urn but if you really want to make a good impression and need everything to be perfect I highly recommend this model. Also it is 100% stainless, no cheap plastic parts if this is an issue. This model also comes in a larger size if you need more than 36 cups.

I will not purchase another Farberware product.

I have the FSU 236 urn, which has been used only at family gatherings. When last used, it switched to the warming mode prematurely so all we had was an urn full of tepid dark water. Things break, no big deal.

Well, it is a big deal because a replacement thermostat is not available for this unit. I could not get a hit when I googled the part number stamped on the thermostat and Farberware/Applica/Salton indicated it is not a "consumer replaceable item." Odd, since you can get a thermostat, heating element, warming element, and fuse link for older Farberware urns.

Fine customer no service, at least direct me to a repair shop that would have the part and can fix the urn. Nope.

Then please look in your UL file and tell me the approved thermostats. Nope, that information is "not available and cannot be supplied."

I could understand if this model was discontinued, but it is currently being sold new. No more Farberware for me!

On the bright side, at least I have a lovely pot to ... never mind.

Farberware Stainless Steel 36 cup coffee/water urn: I had originally purchased my first one of these about 30 years ago. I used it about once a week for 25 hours, as needed. It sprung a leak, and I called the company about the repair of this product. I learned that the Farberware company no longer fixes their products that breakdown after a year. So I donated it to the GoodWill Industries store, where they will fix it and resell it discounted. I purchased a new one from Amazon.com about two years ago. After using it for about three months, I noticed that the supposedly stainless steel washer or houser located on the bottom of the 36-cup pot, which connected to the outside spigot, had become corroded. It peeled away, with an interior colored metal showing through! I called up the Farberware company to let them know of this defect. After checking the numbers printed on the bottom underneath the urn, the company rep said that I could have a new urn sent to me, if I returned the urn before the year was up. However, they refused to send me a free mailing label and insisted that I return this item by UPS. UPS charged me over $23. to send it! (I also noticed printed on the bottom of the urn, "Made in China" and that was disappointing to see!) About six weeks later, I received a "reconditioned" 36-cup coffee/water urn, via UPS, from the Farberware co. I was disappointed that it wasn''t new, as was promised me, but I used it anyway as it was needed very much. After only one month, the supposedly stainless steel washer or houser located inside the bottom part of the urn, also peeled away and became corroded and the bottom part became rusty too. When dried out, I washed the insides with a wet, soft cloth which was rinsed with baking soda to remove the rust. It helped, but the defective washer could not be helped. With a wet cotton swab, I cleaned out the inside of the washer which connected to the spigot and found a great deal of rust inside of the hole! I had asked my doctor if there is any harm in drinking hot, rusty water, and she replied that for most people, there is no problem. But since I have a lot of allergies, she told me that drinking rusty water would not be good for my health! So now I just use the urn''s hot water for other purposes, other than for drinking. I am stuck with this urn! Why did I think only "my" urn had a peeling washer/houser? Obviously, it was cheaper to replace all of the manufactured stainless steel urns with washers that were of inferior quality ones! I sure miss the first urn I bought 30 years ago, which was made in the USA! [ASIN:B0000CFSGR Farberware FSU236 36-Cup Coffee Urn]

Capresso 153.04 C3000 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center

Capresso 153.04 C3000 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center, with Pump-Auto Cappuccino System[T]he C3000 has the most effective auto-frother I''ve ever seen. You just fill a detachable plastic container partway with milk, plug it into the milk feed, and press a button for frothed milk. An adjustable plastic valve lets you control the milk/steam ratio to adjust frothiness. Since it''s a 2-boiler system, you can run the steamer immediately before or after (but not during, presumably due to power constraints) espresso preparation. My only complaint is that you can''t effectively use the steam wand to just steam milk because it is too short and not height-adjustable. With my Magic Deluxe, I can use the steam wand to make hot chocolate, or simply to heat my steamed milk to the temperature I want. With the C3000, if you don''t get the milk temperature right the first time, you have to microwave it. Running it through the forthing system again doesn''t work because it will scald the milk and also leave a bunch of foam behind in the milk container.

I was also disappointed that the system can''t be plumbed in. There are semi-automatic machines ...that can be plumbed in. Also, it has a vibration pump, rather than the rotary pump used in almost all commercial machines and some...semi-commercial machines.

That said, though, the quality of the espresso it produces still compares quite favorably with what I''ve gotten from commercial equipment. Making espresso is trivial, involving only pressing a button and waiting. Every factor except the water pressure can be controlled to your liking, and the automatic cleaning and descaling cycles are easy to use, once you figure out how to read the manual.

If you want a machine that every coffee drinker in the house can use to get top quality espresso, and aren''t too picky about price, this is the machine for you. If you want to economize a bit (and don''t mind learning frothing techniques), get the Saeco Magic DeLuxe. Don''t buy the Capresso C1000, though. Despite the similar name, that machine is far inferior to the C3000, and also inferior to the Saeco Magic DeLuxe, in my opinion.

As advertised, this machine is a marvel of automation, with coffee and espresso available at the touch of a button. The unit cleans and monitors itself. It''s really quite easy to use; there is a helpful video included with it. The coffee is "crema coffee" which is very flavorful; devotees of drip coffee may find it a bit stronger than what they''re used to. Everything is customizable and programmable.

If you''ve had espresso/cappucino machines before, you know that the milk frothing is a total inconvenience. Not so with the c3000; just hook up the included milk container to the steam arm and you have LIMITLESS steamed milk. Great for hot chocolate (or Cafe and Coco)......

The only downside is that there is more plastic used in the construction of the unit than I would expect given the rather staggering price.

Enjoy....you deserve it!

If you''re like me you''re probably thinking "HOW MUCH for a *&%$ cappucinno machine???? You''ve got to be kidding me." The fact of the matter is that it''s worth every penny to me. You see, I''m a Starbucks addict, an affliction that I probably figure costs my wife and I upwards of $10/day, or, should I say, used to cost us $10/day.

I''m a little bit of a coffee snob, and have 3 cappuccino machines sitting in my garage gathering dust. The problem was, THEY ALL (...). Really. Way too much time to make a latte, a huge mess, and it NEVER TASTED quite right. If you''re reading this, you know what I''m talking about.

This machine does it all. It grinds, it taps, it brews, and it makes PERFECT latte''s (yes, just like Starbucks). There''s a small canister that holds the milk that you can keep in the fridge. When you want to steam, pull it out of the fridge, plug it into the machine, and that''s it. When it''s all said and done, I don''t think it takes me more than 3 minutes to set up, make 2 lattes, and clean up. Between the time I save schlepping to Starbucks AND the $10/day, I''m way ahead of the game.

Besides, you can knock out cappuccino for yourself and a half dozen of your snobby friends in less than 10 minutes!!!!

If a coffee house quality drink is important to you and you don''t want to end up with one more useless machine, bite the bullet and buy something you''ll be happy with.

The ONLY negative I can possibly think of to say about this machine is that I figured that for as much as they were charging for this machine, the thing should probably have been in some sort of cool looking brushed metal or copper, not plastic (the picture makes it look like metal, at least I thought it did).

Hope this helps.

This machine does it all one team at work invested in one, and they''re the caffeinated pride of the office. However, don''t compare the coffee as "just as good as Starbucks". Assuming you don''t use Starbucks''s 30''-overroasted beans, this machine will make coffee that''s BETTER than Starbucks. Trust me there are enough coffee choices here in Seattle for me to judge. :)

In short, though, excellent investment.

I am totally blown away at how great a cup of coffee or cappucino this machine makes! It rivals the best that you have ever had, in either Italy or the best restaurants in the world, it simply doesn''t get any better. And it is so cool to use! Just push a button and have a perfect cup! It is so technologicaly cool, it puts a smile on your face. It adds such a sense of enjoyment to mornings and after dinner. I will probably use this device more than any other appliance or gadget I own, which makes the cost look that much more reasonable. Ain''t life wonderful!

Avanti Thermo Electronic Cold and Room Temperature Water Dispenser Save 14% Off

Avanti Thermo Electronic Cold and Room Temperature Water Dispenser, Countertop
  • Ideal for use in small offices, homes, waiting rooms, and more
  • Convenient and lightweight countertop design
  • Holds three- and five-gallon bottles
  • Serves cold and room-temerature water
  • Available in white

This water dispenser has a very nice concept. I liked that it uses any type of refillable bottle. Unfortunately for me after having it a month it never shut off and no longer cooled the water.

I contacted Avanti since it is under warranty and was told to ship it back and they would send me out a new one. Only problem was that I had to cover the shipping over and back and if I wanted to make sure it actually got there, needed to also pay for insurance and tracking. This would have cost me nearly as much as the unit itself and after reading many reviews with negative outcomes even after replacement I didn''t feel it was worth the cost. I guess I''ll just continue to look for one that actually will work.

1st of all: do NOT believe the instruction booklet when it says not to wash out the unit before use! (They claim it comes ready for use from the factory.) It gave a really "off" flavor to the water till I rinsed out the unit thoroughly with baking soda dissolved in water. DO believe the people who say it takes a long time for water to get cold--it really does, especially the first time you use it. That said, we really like this unit now. It fits nicely on the counter, is easy to use, and provides our family of two with enough cold water.

Been using this for 3 months now and have no leaking or any problems yet. The best way to get rid of the plastic taste is to boil water and pour it into the tank and flush it out through the spout. After I did a gallon of hot water, the taste went away. The tank is small so after you dispense 2 cups of cold water, the fan comes on. I''m sure in the summer you will run out of cold water quickly if you have several people using it. But if you like to drink your water in room temperature, this is great to have on your counter. Note that i had a dispenser from Poland Spring (more expensive one) and the water tank was aluminum. This water cooler has a plastic tank.

Myself and a co-worker both purchased this unit from Amazon for infrequent usage. Both units leaked within 2 months, and 1 unit failed to cool the water after 2 weeks. Avanti would not honor the product''s warranty because it was not purchased from them. I know its a low cost and everything, but spilling liters of water all over your desk and laser printer is not really worth the price in hindsight.

I purchased this water cooler a year ago and found the water temperature to be not very cold. Only cool but not ice cold, but it was better than tap water. It also made a loud noise when operating and would often do weird things that make it seem as if it is faulty. It would after a long time resume and again give cool water but never ice cold.Almost to the day, one year after purchase it died.I should have known. The reviews showed this up very clearly but I did not heed the warnings.Hope you know what you are doing when you purchase this piece of junk.

CBTL Kaldi S04 Single Cup Brewer Save 10% Off

CBTL Kaldi S04 Single Cup Brewer, RedI gave my review another star since the capsules are now available locally at Bed, Bath and Beyond. Being able to conveniently buy capsules is important to me.

If you are short on counter space in your kitchen and you want both a single serve coffeemaker and an espresso machine, this unit is something you may want to consider. It takes up about the same amount of space as a Keurig machine, if you are familiar with those.

Set-up was easy, insert the screen in the water tank, give everything a good rinse, pour in some water up to the fill line 40 ounces(I prefer using filtered water), plug it in and follow the simple directions in either the manual or the quick start guide.

Once the machine has primed itself, you are ready to choose your brew. Pull the handle back all the way, drop in the pod with the top facing the front of the machine, snap the handle back down, and choose your size by pressing one of the 3 selections:

Top button: 1.5 ounces for espresso

Middle button: 3 ounces for a long espresso

Bottom button: 8 ounces for coffee, 9 ounces for tea

The next time you brew another cup, when you lift the handle backwards, that disposes of the previously brewed capsule into the storage bin behind the drip tray. This should be dumped into the trash as part of your daily maintenance, in addition to always making sure you have adequate water in the tank (you don''t want to burn-up your pump). Also rinse the storage bin out with hot water after you dump the capsules, it gets a little skanky in there if you don''t!

All the coffee flavors I''ve tried are very aromatic, rich and flavorful. The espresso capsules all produce a nice crema on top. Even though hot chocolate is sometimes listed as available in a capsule, I don''t think those are out yet (as of 11/1/12). I''m not a tea drinker, but I did try the Tropical Passion and it was good.

I''m concerned about availability of coffee capsules, but I''ve ordered more capsules from Amazon. They are available on their Subscribe and Save program, at least I get free shipping that way, but the capsules at this time run 62 cents each.

UPDATE November 2011 these capsules are now being sold at my local Bed, Bath & Beyond, even more flavors than are offered here at Amazon.

NOTE: Every 2 to 3 months the de-scaling warning light comes on, this is what I use it takes about 45 minutes from start to finish: Urnex Dezcal Home Activated Descaler, For Home Coffee & Espresso Equipt., 4 1 oz Packets.

If you want a frother, they also have a separate one available, it''s great.

CBTL LM-145P Milk Frother, White

My wife convinced me and finally bought for me the CBTL Kaldi S04 Single Cup Brewer, Red. After having this device in my countertop for the last 4 days here are my findings.

The Kaldi makes superb espresso brews. So far we have tried the Carnevale and Premium Decaf Espresso. These 2 are both excellent. Brews a the standard Expresso shot or a tall espresso which is about 5 ounces. Both brews leave a nice layer of crema that lasts to the last sip. However, I also tried the French Roast as being one of the dark/bold selections; this one missed the note by being ''lite'' for a dark brew; it does have a very nice smooth flavor, but it just misses the dark punch of a bold selection. I would place the french roast as a medium roast. We just came from Bed Bath and Beyond and purchased a package of the Starbucks Verona which was my favorite T-Disc on the Tassimo; well, even the Verona is on the lighter side; tastes good, but lite!

It has a small profile that does not take much counter space and has a very modern stylish look. it is not very noisy like the Keurigs and takes just a couple of minutes to finish the brew.

The items that could be improved: The water tank could''ve been made a little bigger to hold more water; if you are just brewing espressos, perfect size, but if you brew coffees the water tank is small. Secondly, the used pods fall into a reservoir which is not very hygienic, since the pod is full of water it will drip outside the pod and into the reservoir, which if it is left like that for a day or more, it will rot and smell bad. There is no way to put a tall cup under the nozzle, so you have to use low profile or espresso cups. However, as an added bonus you can use the new Starbucks ''Verismo'' pods on this just fine as the pods are the exact same size; not sure who copied who but if you are a Starbucks fan this is a very good extra bonus.

I also own 2 Bosch Tassimo T20 1 Cups Espresso Machine and Bosch TAS1000UC Tassimo Single-Serve Coffee Brewer, Anthracite brew bots that make excellent espressos and coffees; and while I am happy with this device I think the Tassimo with the Bar Code technology is what puts it into another superior level. However, the CBTL pods are available at BBB, Target and obviously here at Amazon, so that is what made it atrractive as an alternative to the Tassimo T-Discs which suffer for good distribution.

Follow up after 10 days:

I noticed that brewing regular coffee, the temperature of the coffee was not hot enough; I contacted CBTL Sunday, left a message and they promptly returned my call next day (not from Asia). They sent me instructions how to program the temperature settings which are not very clear in the manual.

I am using the CBTL for espressos, as they are very very yummy; but regular coffee (at least the French Roast) is pretty lite to my taste buds; so I am using the Tassimo for regular coffee.

Instructions for setting the temperature from CBTL:

"Programming the Coffee Temperature

Your CBTL System uses one main heating element for all the drink options (espresso, coffee and tea). Should you find that you would like to increase the temperature of the water that is being dispensed, you can do so be following the below steps. Please note that this will only raise the temperature approximately 6 Degrees Fahrenheit.

1. Switch the appliance off and raise the lever

2. Keeping the short espresso and the brewed coffee buttons pressed down, turn on the machine

3. The multifunction alarm light will stay on with a fixed red light

4. Press the long espresso button to highlight the short espresso button. This will raise the temperature approximately 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit

5. Press the long espresso button to highlight the long espresso button. This will raise the temperature approximately another 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit

6. Press the long espresso button to highlight the brewed coffee button. This will raise the temperature approximately another 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit

7. The turn the machine off and on. "

I owned a NESPRESSO maker (model C101) for six months because my wife being French swore by them. Never owning a pod based coffe maker, it made wonderful espresso for the time it was in our possession. I had fair expectations for what it could do given it was such a small compact machine but I always found the espresso (even the strongest pod) a little weak. Also, I found the pods difficult to locate and often I would purchase in bulk from ebay to get a deal for a pod that was often coming in around 90 cents a piece. But since I had nothing to compare it to I didn''t venture out to locate greener pastures.

I had little to complain about UNTIL i went into a coffee bean location to purchase something before work (to be frank I don''t enjoy their in store coffee and was there due to limited options). They had a demo CBTL KALDI S04 for customers to sample SO instead of ordering a coffee I decided I would try the machine first and if it was miserable then I would purchase my typical americano from the cashier.

Well I can only tell you I was STUNNED. The coffee was strong, the creme thick and the double shot setting was plentiful (at least a third more than the Nespresso machine) and was just as good as any thing I would have purchased.

I can only generalize but most American''s, and clearly I enjoy a stiffer and stronger cup and this machine provides you with such a coffee both in espresso form and coffee form.

Additionally the pods themselves are very convenient and are about 40 cents a piece and can be found in store and bulk buying isn''t required and if you order 40 dollars a more a month from the subscription service they offer free shipping.

DON''T order the teas for this machine. To be honest, the machine doesn''t understand the idea of steeping. You can''t pressure brew tea. I''ve tried chai and Moroccan mint and they''re tepid and tasteless.

I''ve tried all strengths of the espresso pods and they''re all excellent. The coffee pods which are not espresso are good but are not as exception as the espresso and all brew hot but not scalding nor luke warm. I do recommend using a small metal cup or a small thick walled porcelain cup. A large cup dissipates the heat much faster, something I found happened with both the machines.

The only down side is the lever is sometimes very difficult to pull but that is the only down side.

And to clarify I use my at least 4 times a day.

I am very impressed with the CBTL machine and coffee capsules. I had a Tassimo for many years that I liked (as well as other coffee and espresso makers before that) and I am elated that I found such a great replacement! The Tassimo was good but since their move between Braun and Bosch, and the rise of Keurig, I don''t think Tassimo will be around much longer.

I was seriously looking at Keurig, which others in my family own. I was also looking at Nespresso. In the end, CBTL is the way to go. The price is great. The Kaldi model produces amazing coffee and espresso. It is simple to use and is very clean and elegant. The Nespresso options were way too expensive and only do espresso. I tried Nespresso samples in stores and CBTL is just as good if not better. I also think CBTL does a better job with espresso than Keurig. Keurig makes a good cup of regular coffee, but if you want really good coffee AND espresso, definitely go with CBTL. K-cups and CBTL capsules cost about the same, but I give end product quality points to CBTL.

I''d also recommend CBTL''s milk frother. I''ve made lattes, mochas, chai teas and steamers--all of them taste like the expensive coffee shop versions for a fraction of the cost. I can''t say enough good things about the CBTL products. I hope they start making Keurig nervous!

I''ve had this unit for about 6 months now and LOVE it. It doesn''t take up too much space, is very easy to operate and clean. The flavors of the drinks are all pretty good, with the Italian espresso being my favorite. The Kaldi even makes crema with both the espressos and the coffees, so you know you''re getting a good brew.

The unit is loud, though, so I have to wait until my preschool aged kids wake up in the morning before I brew my coffee as I don''t want them to wake up until necessary.

Although I love this machine and wouldn''t trade it for any of the other Single cup brewers out there, I docked one star because during the 6 months I''ve had this item, I''ve gone through about 15-20 pods that didn''t work. Keep in mind that I use about 2 a day. I put them in properly, but for some reason, the machine would get stuck after poking a hole in one of the ends of the pods, so I''d have to toss it. When I put in a new pod right after, it works fine, so I''m not sure if it''s a defective pod or if something''s going on with the machine.

Other than that, it''s perfect and amazing! The barista at the CBTL store I purchased this from even said that the Kaldi probably brews better coffee than when you can get at CBTL because each cup is a fresh, clean brew.

ZeroWater ZJ-003 Filtration Water Cooler Bottle

ZeroWater ZJ-003 Filtration Water Cooler Bottle with Replacement Filter 4 PackWater is so delicious I ordered a counter top pitcher to use in cooking. I had forgotten how good coffee tastes. Excellent product.

I loved the way it filtered the water. When the meter read 006, the water tasted WEIRD!! And the worse your water is, the less time a filter lasts. But, in the end, with having to filter 3-5 gallons a DAY for my family, and having water in yhr 270-350 ppm range, the price of the filters was astronomical. I buy water now from the local water store where they use RO and ultraviolet.

Kleen Free Naturally, Natural, Non-Toxic, Enzyme Solution and Multi-Purpose Cleaner Save 3% Off

Kleen Free Naturally, 24oz pre-mix, bed bugs, scabies, lice, mites, any insect eliminator and treatment, all natural enzymes, non-toxic, organic, USDA ecologically safe -This review is targeted towards people who have had an ongoing issue with mites and are desperate to hear from someone who has tried something that worked. I have spent thousands of dollars on various methods over the last ten years to try to get rid of my bug problem. I have tried: moving house, fumigation, throwing out all bedding, beds, linen, various chemicals and powders, vacuuming daily, showering twice a day (washing my bedding daily), listerine, menthol crystals, diatimacious earth, neem oil, baking soda, windex... you name it, I''ve tried it.

A couple of years ago I kind of resolved to learn to live with the problem. But this year I found some websites on the internet with information from people who had beaten the problem so I spent 6 months trying a range of products that they recommended. I purchased many of the products on the internet and had them posted to me from America to Australia at great expense.

I tried so many things that I cannot be certain whether it was the combination of products that worked in the end or not. But what I can tell you is that this product seemed to make a very radical difference very quickly. It is the only product that I am certain kills the bugs in the wash. This is important to me as my clothing and bedding seemed to be the last battleground with the mites. After ten years I had mostly eradicated them from other areas of my house but I found that I kept reinfecting myself until I started using kleen free. I have only been using kleen for around one month.

I wish I had received this advice when I first got the problem. In fact one of the websites that I followed said that Kleen Free didn''t work for them so I didn''t bother to try it until I read testimonials on the Kleen Free website that sounded truthful. I doubted that it was going to make a shred of difference though when I bought it.

Again, I''m not certain it will work for you. We are all amateurs out there trying things through trial and error and I''m sure there are a million bugs out there that respond to different products differently. I just know that it worked for my bugs. The fact that it is non toxic is so important. I was using products that I knew were toxic but I had decided that I would take the risk and use the other products anyway because I was so desperate to get rid of the bugs.

If I had to start from scratch again, I would do this:

Cover your mattress and pillows in mattress and pillow protectors that are properly sealed (ones recommended for bed bugs etc, not the flimsy dust mite ones), or wrap in thick plastic and seal with thick tape. You''ll get nowhere until you start doing this. Spray the mattress with Kleen Free first though!

Get rid of anything that is non-essential that you could live without (furniture, clothing, books etc.). And when I say "get rid of", I mean throw in the bin do not donate to charities or sell on ebay don''t pass the problem onto someone else. I threw out 95% of my clothes and ALL my furniture. This was hard to do because I collect vintage clothing and it is hard to replace. I threw out all furniture because the bugs can go in deep and it seemed too hard to keep cleaning, vacuuming my favourite couch etc. I don''t regret it. But I highly recommend not buying any new furniture until you have full confidence you have eliminated the problem, and if you do buy something, choose something you can wipe down with few crevices (like plastic chairs etc). (I did this before I came across Kleen Free)

Think of the creatures as you would dust. Wherever dust can reside, so can they. However difficult dust is to eliminate, so are they. This may seem extreme, and if you''ve only had the problem for a short while, you might think my advice is over the top it is not. This "dust" also likes to breed! And can do so very quickly. What may start off as a minor problem can become a major and expensive problem within a week. Think of them as breeding dust that can lay eggs that can survive for years. When they do hatch, it takes them around a week to mature and start breeding again. So do the math... you could have millions within a week. And these are worse than dust because you can''t see them and they can scurry away very quickly.

Vacuum clean EVERY DAY and everywhere. Use a vacuum with a hepa filter. Throw the bag out everyday if you can afford it. If not, put the bag in a plastic zip-lock back and put that bag in another zip-lock bag and put that bag in the freezer. (My experience makes me think that freezers kill mites but not their eggs). Handle the bag with disposable gloves.

Note: Try not to reinfect anything (as a general rule).

Wash your bedding everyday (in kleen free). Only use towels and clothing once and wash immediately. Put washing in a freezer (or sealed bags) until you can wash them.

Clean (with Kleen free) all areas where you plan to put your clean clothes, bedding etc. (cupboards, drawers etc)

Vacuum your whole house including floors, walls etc as much and often as you can. (This includes shoes).

Tell yourself that this will take you six months to beat! And that it requires planning, persistence and patience (make that your mantra when you think it is unbearable and no believes you!!!). If it takes less than 6 months it will be a bonus. Also, tell yourself that it might take a month of mad cleaning before you start to notice a difference.

Follow the instructions on the kleen free bottle bathe in it, spray the whole house etc for the first week then every second day in the second week.

Even if you don''t buy this product, the vacuuming and washing of clothes (or disposal) is absolutely essential.

In fact, when I got bitten while wearing an item of clothing (before I discovered Kleen Free), I would take the item of clothing off immediately and throw it in the bin. I also did this with bedding. I would ask myself whether it is worth the trouble of trying to wash the bugs out or not... what is more costly? I bought myself heaps of cheap blankets, sheets and pillows I was willing to throw away every so often... but with Kleen Free, hopefully you won''t have to do that. (I stopped doing it when I discovered this product!) I threw out expensive woolen coats etc. too. It''s best to wash your clothing in the hottest water possible and in the hottest drier, so I started buying synthetic clothing that could handle such temperatures. Try to buy cheap, synthetic clothing and don''t buy too much... throw it out if you''re getting bitten too much.

Psychologically, what worked for me was that I tried to keep some kind of tally of how many bites I was getting on a daily basis. At first it was 50, then 20ish then 5, etc. As annoying as five new bites a night is, as least you know it''s less than it was last month, so what you are doing is working, so persevere! I remember I used to count how many bites I''d get on the way to work... usually three or four, then down to two, then one. Then one day I remembered that I hadn''t counted them for a couple of days. That equalled NO BITES on the way to work! Sure, I was being bitten at night still, but they were disappearing VERY slowly but surely.

As I write this review I am awaiting another bottle of Kleen Free to come from the USA. I didn''t follow the instructions correctly when I first bought the product and I ran out of the product very quickly. I also didn''t take the baths etc. (because I don''t have a bath) I just bought myself an inflatable one on ebay! I have been getting the occasional bite (one these last three weeks). But I know it''s because I have reinfected myself with something I haven''t treated. I only wash my clothes in Kleen Free now, and I''m saving all that I have left for my washing. When I do the whole program properly, I will amend this review.

I''m writing this review because I feel compelled to help people who need somewhere to start. I know if I post on a bird mite board somewhere people might think I work for the company and not take my review seriously, so I''m posting here.

Good luck to those of you who have had the misfortune of a bird mite infestation!

Later edit:

I just read the review above mine that talked about a bedbug crawling straight through the product. I agree that that would be extremely disconcerting. My bug problem was probably a type of mite, not a bedbug. I don''t know if that makes a difference to the effectiveness of the product. If you do have an "invisible" biting mite problem like I did, I would chance this product... it''s a relatively cheap low risk. I''m only adding this footnote because if I had come across the negative review and not given it a go that would have been a shame and I wouldn''t be experiencing the relief I''m experiencing now.

If you want to check out the ingredients of this product for product comparison''s sake, do a google search by including the name of this (or any) product with "MSDS" (Material Safety Data Sheet). All companies by law, must list the ingredients and safety requirements of the product. You will then have the knowledge to make your own judgement. This information is abundantly available on the internet.

Even later update (Oct 2011):

I have practically eliminated the problem and I have run out of Kleen Free. All I do now to maintain my sanity is clean my clothes and bedding in hot water and dry them in a hot (laundromat/gas) dryer on a weekly basis. I also vacuum clean once a week. And this seems to be good enough. I had not been bitten for some months though. I recommend maintaining your routine until you haven''t been bitten for three months. Just to be sure!

I recently walked into my garage and stepped on some old furniture and by the end of the night I was being bitten again. This time I didn''t panic! I knew that if I stuck to my usual regime I would get rid of them eventually... and I did after two-three weeks.

But I am adding to this review because I came across another additional product that I believe assisted me on my journey and that is orange oil. I read somewhere that if insects lay their eggs too deeply in the skin of an orange, the eggs do not survive. Apparently when they come into contact with the d-limonene found in the peel of oranges (and some other citrus fruits) the eggs die. When I read that I decided to try dabbing orange oil wherever on my body I felt a bite. Be warned, this stuff is used as a cleaner because it is very corrosive. 99 % of the time I had no reaction to it but on occasion I did. It stung me and I believe it can burn your skin. So if you choose to try it out like I did use it very cautiously or mix it with another oil. I purchased it from a health food store and then in bulk from an essential oil supplier. Be very careful!!

But I do think it helps. You won''t notice its effect immediately because I think it only kills eggs... but I think it does help in time.

Good luck to you all and I''m glad my review has assisted some of you.

Later addition, 11 October 2012:

I started a blog way back in 2009 to discuss my processes. But I was so overwhelmed with trying to defeat the problem, that I did not add anymore entries. Additionally, I felt silly blogging about things that weren''t working.

As this review has turned into a kind of forum, I thought I''d direct you back to my blog so that you can add things not related to the review of this product there. The blog is called The Mite Wars. I hope Amazon allow me to keep this info on this review. I''m not sure if I''m breaking any rules here.

Please comment or ask questions there! I did not copy and paste any comments from this review as they are not my own, and I do not have the right to do that.

If anyone wishes to start a forum (instead of my blog) please feel free to do so.

I didn''t know I had scabies until six months into having them. The skin specialist said I had a rash and the treatment wasn''t working. My internal medicine doctor was the one that told me I had scabies. I never heard the name before so when I got home I went onto the internet to find out what they were. I never new such a bug and wish I never did but I had to continue to read and learn as much as I could so I could find a way to get rid of them. Rumor has it that lying in the sun can help get rid of them but that isn''t true. You want to get rid of them use Kleen Free. Your nightmare will be over. Before I knew about Kleen Free, I tried another expensive product to get rid of the scabies but the treatments it required just wasn''t doing the trick. It only called for 2 or 4 oz to be added in the tub verses one cup of Kleen Free. My first treatment of Kleen Free by adding one cup in the tub, I could feel it working. It is hard to say into words, but I could feel the enzymes killing them on my skin. Scabies lay their eggs in your skin and when they hatch they like fly or flutter around your body and you can feel them for a while before they enter back into your skin and turn into adult scabies and make more eggs and the cycle starts all over again. The enzymes kill them before they have a chance to re-enter your body and produce more of them. As time goes bye, less and less of them are hatch and the cycle stops. Your Kleen Free of scabies. When you only use 2 or 4 oz of another brand, it takes forever or weeks before you get rid of them. You are only teasing them and not really getting to the problem effectively. Using Kleen Free, and using what is recommended, one cup in the bath water, and soaking for 1/2 hour in the tub was more effective. I would purchase two gallons of Kleen Free which lasted a lot longer than the other competitor product. I also use Kleen Free in my wash, my bed, rugs, furniture, my car seats and floor, and I even washed my makeup cosmetic pad in Kleen Free. I would spray my shoes or put them in a freezer bag over night. Everyday, I would change and wash my sheets and comforters. The same goes for my towels and dish towels. I wished I came across Kleen Free sooner. I spent a lot of money purchasing the other product and you get a lot more for your money with Kleen Free. After using the other product after five weeks, I still had them, but when I started using Kleen Free and after two weeks I could hardly tell I had them anymore. By the third week, I was Kleen Free. And even though I don''t have them anymore, I still keep on hand some Kleen Free just to maintain. I don''t ever want them back again and your mental state is Kleen Free, too. Happy Ending.

Great natural cleaner and pest killer amazingly good at dealing with bug infestations on plants (like those neffy Japanese beatles) and actually, truly works to kill scabies which I can, sadly, personally attest to.

We had a scabies outbreak where I used to work (wholesaler/retailer in the garment district; source was likely a contaminated goods delivery). Just my luck, I was one of the people infected. Let me tell you, these things are vicious and can be really, really difficult to get rid of. They are invisible to the naked eye and to most magnifying lenses (10x and under useless), breed and spread rapidly and become immune to treatments very quickly. Unfortunately, I (and most of my fellow sufferers) did not realize what I had until it had spread in my home; these things love paper, cardboard, cloth, anything porous of that type, and can even get down in the floor boards. Basically a nightmare. The prescription medications I received worked at first, but I kept getting re-infected while trying to deal with infected bedding, clothes etc. and, unfortunately, within one week these hideous little things had spread in my bedroom and become immune to the topical medicine. Doctors were no use (initially told me I didn''t need to do anything to clean the environment, not even wash my clothes, which was just moronic!).

I was getting desperate so I did what I should have done in the first place and searched for advice from other sufferers on the internet. I found a lot of information that scared me to bits, but also some good product recommendations and protocols for dealing with this infestation in my home and on my body. I bought all of the products that seemed to be most recommended the one that worked to kill the mites off my body and in my bathroom and most of my bedroom was Kleen Free. This stuff gave me relief and got me (and the worst affected areas of my house) clean of the nasties; apparently it kills them by dissolving exoskeleton of the mite so the mites have no chance to develop immunity, thank goodness (and no, the Kleen Free did not damage my skin and I have VERY sensitive skin). I did NOT use the Kleen Free on upholstery, rugs or clothes, but I did use it in bathe water to decontaminate myself and I used a diluted solution to wipe down floors, walls, furniture and personal possession I handled all the time, like cellphone, keys, etc. Once I and the immediate environs were creepy critter free, I put on some clean clothes one of my sisters brought for me (sealed in plastic) and went to stay somewhere else while an exterminator bombed my home (internet search told me this was possible and what should be used). I then purchased a few of those environment suits with plastic linings at Home Depot (for cleaning basements, etc.) and my family and I wore them as a precaution to go back into the house. Per the information I found on the internet, anything in the affected areas which could not be laundered and dryed at high heat for at least 30 minutes was bagged and disposed of, including papers, books (sob), mattress, carpets, some upholstered furniture and shoes. To be on the safe side I disposed of all clothes except my favorites. Clothes I couldn''t bear to part with were washed and dried in a hot dryer for a minimum of 30 minutes and then double-bagged to be left un-opened for 2 months and then re-washed and re-dryed before being worn again; there were some suits that could not be washed which I cleaned with those dry-cleaning sheets you can use in your dryer the important thing was to expose them to high dryer heat for at least 30 minutes to kill any possible remaining infestation. There were some books and papers I couldn''t bear to part with which I sprinkled with diatomaceous earth, sealed up in plastic bags and put aside to store for a minimum of 2 years (erring on the side of caution different sources gave different time periods I was horrified at how persistent mites apparently can be). We then sprinkled diatomaceous earth on all floor surfaces (this stuff cuts up the exoskeletons of all insects and is non-toxic, although you do NOT want to breathe it we used face masks). My home was then left vacant for 2 weeks and then bombed again at the end of the 2 weeks this was to give the mites nothing to eat during the next lifecycle and to kill the next round of any nasties (from egg to adult). I confess I was so paranoid by that point (listening to the horror stories of my co-workers and from what I read on the ''net) that I waited another 2 weeks and bombed one more time before moving back in. In the meantime, I continued to bathe using the Kleenfree as a just in case preventative. Anyway, this worked and my home and I were both scabies free (although there was a lot of clean up to get rid of the diatomaceous earth, but it was worth it for the peace of mind!)

There is a codcil here. A bad attack of scabies will continue to cause incredibly severe itching and irritation for months after, as it takes time for the skin to purge out all the contamination from these creepy things. It is also typical to develop a skin yeast infection about a year or more later as a side affect of the scabies attack (yes, the gift that just keeps on giving). For these reasons, combined with the fact that the scabies mites are invisible, people often think they are still infected with scabies long after they have gotten rid of them. The first 6 months after the initial infestation were rough for me; taking a bath with Kleen Free once in a while during that period helped keep me calm and sure that I was "clean". Let me add that the oral prescription drug ivermectin is an effective way to get rid of scabies if the skin medications don''t work for you; there are some dangerous possible side effects but most of the people I worked with who were infected ended up having to take this and were ok you take one dose and then another 2 weeks later. Altogether, having scabies was one of the worst experiences of my life and I honestly don''t know how I would have made it through if I had not found Kleen Free.

Note that this stuff is highly concentrated; a couple gallons was enough to see me through the whole ordeal and the 6 month period after (with enough left over to use on the japanese beatles in my sister''s garden).

I was interested in this product because we have bed bugs to get rid of and the product is made from natural ingredients, no chemicals. I could tell right away that it had vinegar in it. I think vinegar acts as a repellant to bed bugs but does not kill them. I sprayed the carpet and our bedding and floor boards. I regret to say we still have bed bugs so we must move on to other methods.

I used this spray after I got a bed from some friends who were moving. Turned out that the bed (mattress and box springs), which previously sat unused in their spare bedroom, was infested with bedbugs. Nothing killed the bugs; I used Raid, bug bombers, probably tried ten different products from local retailers. I was utterly miserable because the bugs were migrating into the rest of the house from my spare bedroom, and I was getting bit. It was a living hell. In desperation I found this. IT WORKED!!!!!! I diluted the concentrate a little on the heavy side and sprayed everything. Twice. I laundered the sheets and blankets in it and I also soaked in the bath for the bites, which worked like a charm. Within two days my house was clear of bedbugs. I am buying another bottle this year to treat for fleas on the dogs because Frontline isn''t working as well as it used to.

I have a Kenmore refrigerator form Sears that I bought about a year and a half ago. Kenmore is actually made by Whirlpool and although the filter this replaced was labeled Kenmore, this is the exact same filter but labeled Whirlpool instead. I looked it up on the Sears site and they wanted $50 for the same filter. The price is a steal and even though it says 6 months I used it for over a year since I have soft water in my house and only one person. My fridge has a 6 month built in timer that goes from green to orange to red when the 6 months is up. I thought it might be based on actual usage, but it''s not, because it went red at exactly 6 months and I use far less water than most other households. I have no idea why more time would harm a filter, as far as I''m concerned it''s just a marketing tactic to get you to buy them more often then needed, like oil changes every 3,000 miles.

This filter fits my Kenmore Elite side by side which takes the Sears 9030 filter and at almost half the price. The only difference in this filter is it does not say Stage II or Kenmore. The water tastes exactly the same to me as when I used the Sears brand and I am very aware of the water taste since we have hard, extremely chlorinated water in my area. I wish I had found these filters 4 Sears brand filters ago ... serious $$$ savings!

I bought my whirlpool refrigerator from sears in 2006. Sears sent me a reminder through mail that I need to replace my filter. I almost ordered the part through the sears.com website because this particular filter was not available through the sears store or through their parts center. I went to the sears.com website and their price was $60.59($44.98part+ $4.62tax+$10.99shipping). Then I thought about checking amazon.com to see if this filter was available, and it was, for a much lower cost to me. My total was $41.98($34.99part+$6.99shipping). I ordered the filter on May30 and received it through usps on June2. Replacing the filter was easy just pop out the old one, transfer the filter cap from the old filter to the new one, and pop the new filter assembly back in. The old filter was dripping water, so I took it over to the sink to shake out the water and out came some rust colored water and small pieces of debris which would have been in my drinking water if it had not been filtered out by the filter. So it is a good idea to replace the filter on a regular basis.

Some interesting Facts not all know: Why to change your filter...

Eventually the AC filter (Active Carbon) loses its ability to remove contaminants, because it becomes clogged with material. In the case of taste and odor, the time to change the filter is easy to detect. However, in the case of other contaminants, it is more difficult to determine when the filter is no longer performing at an adequate level. Most manufacturers recommend a filter change after a certain volume of water has passed through the filter. Some AC units actually meter the water and automatically shut down after a specific quantity of water has passed through the filter. A general rule of thumb for high-volume AC filters is to change the filter after six months of use or 1000 gallons of filtered water. Tests done by Rodale Press Product Testing Department indicated that filtering performance was reduced dramatically after 75 percent of the manufacturer''s recommended life time. These results suggest that filters should be changed more often than suggested by the manufacturer. Some AC filters are claimed to last for five years, because they are rechargeable with hot water (145 degrees F). The heat is supposed to release adsorbed organic chemicals. Little information is available on the prolonged effectiveness of rechargeable AC units. General recommendations are somewhat useful quidelines, but there is no guarantee that they apply to any specific situation. Remember, the only certain way of knowing whether contaminant levels are acceptable or not is by having your water tested.

A sediment filter installed ahead of any AC filter will prolong the life of the AC unit. Sediment can easily clog the pores of an AC filter within a short period of time. A good sediment filter can be purchased for only a fraction of the price of most high volume AC filters.

The Bacteria Issue

AC filters can be a breeding ground for microorganisms. The organic chemicals that are adsorbed to the AC are a source of food for various types of bacteria. Pathogenic bacteria are those that cause human diseases such as typhoid, cholera, and dysentery. Public water systems must treat for disease causing bacteria; therefore, the likelihood of disease causing bacteria being introduced to an AC filter from public drinking water is remote. AC filtration should only be used on water that has been tested and found to be bacteria free or effectively treated for pathogenic bacteria.

Other types of non-pathogenic bacteria that do not cause diseases have been regularly found in AC filters. There are times when high amounts of bacteria (non-pathogenic) are found in water filtered through an AC unit. Research by R. L. Caldron and E. W. Mood (1987) shows little risk to healthy people that consume high amounts of non-pathogenic bacteria. We regularly take in millions of bacteria every day from other sources. However, there is some concern for certain segments of the population, such as the very young or old and people weakened by illness. Some types of non-pathogenic bacteria can cause illness in those whose natural defenses are weak. Flushing out bacteria that have built up in the filter can be accomplished by running water through an AC filter for about 30 seconds prior to use. Water filtered after the initial flushing will have much lower levels of bacteria and ingestion of a high concentration of bacteria will have been avoided. The flushing procedure is most important in the morning or any other time of the day when the filter has not been used for several hours.

Some compounds of silver have been used as disinfectants. Silver has been added to certain AC filters as a solution to the bacteria problem. Unfortunately, product testing has not shown silver impregnated AC to be much more effective in controlling bacteria than normal AC filters. Only in the first month of operation did there appear to be any advantage to using an AC filter that contained silver.

EPA requires registration of all types of water treatment equipment that contain an active ingredient for the purpose of inhibiting the growth of microorganisms. Registration does not guarantee that the product is effective. It only guarantees that the active ingredient will not leach from the filter at levels that would be a health hazard.

WIth all due respect to the reviewer who complained that the cost of 20 cents/day was unreasonable and excessive, this filter does an amazing job and is a fantastic bargain, **especially** when compared to bottled water and manufactured ice. We''ve had our new KitchenAid fridge for just a little over 6 months, and we''ve been delighted with the sparkly-clean, crisp, tasteless water & ice that this filter enables it to dispense. Especially since we live in a "hard-water" area, where the stuff coming from your tap, while acceptable, leaves a faint, gritty mineral taste. I used to "splurge" on store-bought ice several times/year for parties and special occasions, just because it tasted so much better. (Or rather, didn''t taste like anything at all -which is of course the point.) Since we''ve had this fridge, with this filter, I''ve never needed to spend extra on bagged ice OR bottled water, because the ice & water thru this filter are every bit as good. The acid test? I could fill a clean plastic bottle with the water from this filter, and let it sit at room temperature for a day or more, and it still tastes just as good warm as if it were freshly dispensed. That same exercise with our regular tap water would''ve resulted in a nasty, nose-wrinkling, mineral stew as soon as the chill was gone. Another nice advantage this filter has over bottled water is that it does NOT filter out cavity-preventing fluoride, whereas most (all?) bottled waters do.

Watts Premier 50 GPD MEMBRANE 560018

Watts Premier 50 GPD MEMBRANE 560018The other review I see for this product indicates that they had purchased the wrong membrane. As long as you verify that this is the right membrane for your system it works as expected. I purchased from H2oFilters and their service was exceptional. While it is true that sellers cannot generally except returns for an opened membrane (membrane is no longer reusable once opened), H2oFilters worked with me on the issue that I had and everything is working perfectly. Back to great tasting water without the hassle of purchasing it at the store!

While the following is not necessary for most buyers, if you do have issues with the Watts RO system in general here are some troubleshooting tips:

*Verify you have a 50 gallon per day flow restrictor (for this membrane)

*Empty your storage tank and verify the tank is not heavy when empty (indicative of a busted tank bladder

*Verify air pressure of empty tank meets manufacterer''s recommended PSI (mine is about 7-8PSI)

*Verify your auto shut off manifold is functional (if you hear loud noises from the RO system, or it continuously runs, you might need a new one)

*Verify you have a double check valve in place (anti-siphon valve)

Once again, most buyers will not need the troubleshooting tips, as normally it''s just as simple as emptying the water from the system (just like for normal maintenance) then opening the membrane housing and switching the membrane.

Thanks again H2oFilters!

Works much better for use with icemaker. No flow problems since upgrade.Lots of water when needed. 24 GPD was marginal formy use.

I ordered the membane and forgot about it. I later remembered that I had placed the order and started to check my records. I should have received it 10 days prior. I emailed the company and, we discovered that the USPS had lost the order. It was not an shipment set up for tracking. The company apologized and said they would take care of it. Two days later, via Fed Ex, the membrane arrived. Situations such as this happen. Quality companies take care of the problem and, that is all I can ask for. The membrane is what it is. What else is there to say but, I would suggest that the need for a new restrictor valve, as I found out later in the directions, should be mentioned when ordering this item. It was somewhat annoying to have go back and order the item so I could finish the replacement.

Product came quickly as described . Very simple to replace with very little DIY knowledge . All tech sites told me I had a bad tank but the low/no pressure problem was the RO Membrane.......

Kalorik SFC 24713 Steam Mop with Removable Water Tank Save 40% Off

Kalorik SFC 24713 Steam Mop with Removable Water TankThis product only does a fair job of cleaning. I have tile that is less than one year old and the grout only looked a little cleaner after 3 uses.

It leaves a film of water on the surface that takes at least 15 minutes to dry and some spots have to be wiped up by hand.

Would I buy this again, no. Jean

I bought this steam mop for my wife because she was dying to try one out, with a baby tearing up the kitchen and all. However, this specific mop didn''t even come close to where it needed to be in order to get the job done.

The main problem here is that steam mop technology just isn''t quite there yet. The steam alone isn''t enough to get a lot of stains up, but since you can''t use any type of chemicals in conjunction with this mop, it does very little to get the floor clean. Even worse, the process of steaming leaves a fine silt-like film all over the area after you''re done. You pretty much have to break out the old mop and bucket just to clean up the mess that this "new and improved" mop made. I believe someone was good to try to apply steam cleaning to a handheld mop, but the process of just squirting the steam out of the bottom with nothing more than a cloth cover to clean the floor isn''t really a good idea. Match that up with the $90 price tag, at least when I purchased it, and it makes this mop pretty pathetic as far as value is concerned.

Overall, please save your money. You''d be better to buy a large steam vacuum for a little more that will at least have rotating brushes or some other gizmo that actually breaks down stains and stuff on the floor, instead of just relying on steam alone. I think this is pretty common with all of the steam mops out there, so again...please save your money.

The Steam Mop left my floor very wet and did not put out that much steam. My regular hand mop did a better job. Returning product.

Kalorik Steam Cleaner

After about the 3rd use, my steam cleaner overheated after about 5 minutes of use. It was so hot it burned my finger to hold the button down. I didn''t try to take it back because I no longer had the receipt plus I had it a few months before I even used it. I tried it again after about a month and it did the same thing. Money thrown away.

The folding mechanism, a push button that enables the handle to collapse, broke upon my second use of the steam mop and I am returning it. It did a good job of cleaning my ceramic tiled kitchen and hallways floors as well as my den floor which is a synthetic wood. I like the concept of being able to use tap water w/o chemicals. If the handle hadn''t broken immediately, this could have been a five-star review. I contacted Kalorik and they told me I had a one-year guarantee, but the button collapsing mechanism component required that I send it back to them for repair or replacement. Fortunately for me, I purchased it through Amazon and am returning it at no cost to me and getting a refund.

I may try another one in the hope that this defect is atypical. I did not buy another Kalorik.

KRUPS XP4600 Silver Art Collection Pump Espresso Machine Save 33% Off

KRUPS XP4600 Silver Art Collection Pump Espresso Machine with KRUPS Precise Tamp Technology and Stainless Steel Housing, SilverI''m changing my review after a year of use and the 2nd steamer wand broke. The first two removeable steamer wands had 3 thin plastic tines that were supposed to snap onto a metal tube. The tines continued to snap off from the pressure of the steam. It was a design flaw and they knew about it and I''m happy to say, fixed it! When I called to request a 2nd wand, they sent me the old flawed design (w/i a week). But another week later they sent me a 3rd wand but with the new design! This new wand, though still with plastic parts, screws onto the metal arm! No breakable or cheap parts on this new design! If it breaks again I''ll let everyone know.

Krups customer service was curtious and I got my replacements within 10 days. Apparently, this machine is covered by a 5 yr warranty, which is not listed in the description on this Amazon site.

I''ve also been helped by you readers to end up with a nice dry puck of grinds! Thanks CJ and others!

11/2011 I''ve had it almost 1 week & made 10 double shots.) The machine is beautiful (chrome and stainless w/wood trim), compact, easy to use, heats quickly and cleans up easily. It has made good crema on the coffee.

The water reserve tank must be filled after 4 double shots of coffee are made (including the steaming of the milk) which is no big deal. The machine lets out water (internally) into the outside tray, to cool the machine after you froth your milk, but the tray comes right out and is easy to clean.

Tips: 1)Read the manual before using. 2)Before making the 1st cup of coffee each day, after the machine says it''s ready/hot, set the machine to make a double cup but don''t put the filter with the coffee in. Let the water come out into a cup to heat the machine lines (then discard water). Then put your filter with coffee in and tighten as much as it lets you and make the shot(s). This will make a hotter cup. 3)If you like steamed milk, buy a clip-on thermometer for your milk frothing pitcher so you know when it''s hot enough. 4)Experiment with the amount of coffee you put in the filter and with the grind.

I wanted to replace my recently non-working Starbucks Sirena(made by Saeco)and I did not want to spend more than I spent on the Sirena so this was one of the contenders for consideration. I chose it mostly because it said it had programmable buttons (like my Sirena, a feature that I loved)and secondly for the looks. I so dislike the looks of typical square machines. I was surprised how lightweight this machine is compared to any other espresso maker I have had. Most of the ones I had in the past weighed around 25 pounds and this was about 10! It''s basically all plastic with fake wood and chromed plastic to make it look metal. I was a little dubious about that part. And, upon reading the manual, I found that the programmable buttons will not stay programmed after it is turned off! What good is that?? So, I was going through the motions of priming it and making my first espressos and steamed milk for lattes and thinking I was not happy with this machine, so far. BUT, the espresso was wonderful and had lots of crema, not bitter at all. That seems unusual for a new machine. Usually they have to be broken in for a while. The milk did foam right away, but did so so fast that it did not have time enough to get warm. The top foam was actually still cold. I tried it again and was able to figure out how to get it hot as well. It''s just so different from any of the more "professional" machines that I have had that it will take some adjustments. You cannot adjust the steam because there is no knob. However, after all of this being said, I like the fact that the portafilter is all one piece and has a push-button on it to eject the puck. With other machines, I have had to bang the portafilter like hell to get the puck out (Gaggia) or it was always like soup (Sirena). This was neat and I had a bunch of nice little pucks in my garbage can. So, even though it is mostly plastic and lightweight and has no steam knob, it makes a nice beverage and I guess that is what matters!

My Starbucks bill gets high so my husband bought me this machine as a gift. I used to own De''Longhi EC155 15 BAR Pump Espresso and Cappuccino Maker a while and died less than a year. It''s the most beautiful looking machine, so my kitchen looks amazing for just having this unit. It''s very easy to use and clean. Heats up very quickly. I''m very happy with this gorgeous item in my kitchen and start a day with a Latte which does not cost $5.

I want to chime in. I''ve been looking at this cool espresso machine wanting it. But all the bad reviews on here about the nozzle keeps me from ordering. So? I decided to write Krups, and ask them about the nozzel..and if by chance have they corrected the problem. They wrote me back within 24 hours and told me it has been redesigned. you have to call customer service with your model number to see if you have the new improved wand since some of the original models are still out there.
