Vandor LLC 53333 Marvel''s The Avengers 24-Ounce Stainless Steel Water Bottle Save 8% Off

Vandor LLC 53333 Marvel''s The Avengers 24-Ounce Stainless Steel Water Bottle, MulticoloredExactly what I expected. Shipped in a fast manner. And my Grandson loved it. He loves the avengers a lot.

This is a nice steel water bottle with a plastic lid. It holds 750ml which seems adequate to me as a water bottle. Opening is fairly large so I can get ice in it.

I notice there is no black widow on this water bottle. I cannot figure out why, I mean if your gonna leave one off a character leave off Hawkeye, not black widow.

The flap lid on top could be more secure but works fine, I worry about its longevity.

Haan SV-60 Hard-Floor Steam Vacuum Cleaner Save 44% Off

Haan SV-60 Hard-Floor Steam Vacuum CleanerThe Haan SV 60 is a Great Machine! My problem is with Amazon The specifications clearly state that there is only ONE microfiber pad included and that the "optional carpet tray can be purchased separately." ONE microfiber pad leaves the 200.00 steam vac USELESS!!!! I have purchased pads, but they don''t fit at all.... I just grin and bear it because I love the steamer..... As for carpets, I can''t use my SV 60 on my carpets because NO ONE, ANY WHERE, can help me find a carpet tray....... I should have researched and purchased one from another vendor that includes FOUR microfiber pads AND the carpet tray with agitator brush...... The 50.00 extra that I would have paid would have been MONEY WELL SPENT ...... you cannot put a price on the time and effort I have spent trying to PAY for PADS that FIT and the Carpet Tray...... Buyer Beware!!!! Somehow, be CERTAIN of the contents of the box.....

Good machine not too heavy, seems to operate just fine on tile floors.

This machine uses the RMF-4 pads, NOT the MF-2 pads amazon is selling bundled with the vacuum.

I ordered this product after reading all of the reviews, I knew the shortcomings but since I was aware of them before purchasing they did not bother me. The cord is a bit short and you can''t get under cabinets very well. With the majority of my home being tile and hardwood I as ecstatic to be able to sweep and mop in one step. I know that I have to pay a bit of extra attention under my cabinets but it was worth it to me to do that! This product cleans wonderfully andam happy to have some of the hairspray build up off my tiled bathroom floor.

I''m a mother of four kids, with a husband and two dogs. We have a large kitchen, eating area and utility room that are tiled, an entry way that is tiled, and both bathrooms are tiled. I had been AGONIZING over wanting one of these. I looked at the Shark Steam Vac, the Bissel Steam Vac and the Haan. Some family and friends said the Shark was disappointing, but the best price I could find for the HAAN was online and refurbished then I stumbled on it yesterday in a discount store. I was seriously giddy.

Tonight I cleaned my kitchen floors. Using the SV-60 wasn''t bad. I have back problems (3 bad discs and arthritis in the SI joint I take pain medicine daily) so I was concerned about people saying it was hard to push or hard on the back. I didn''t find it any harder then vacuuming the living room. My back hurt less when I was done then it usually does after mopping. With four kids under 6 stuff gets on the floor around the dinner table usually mopping includes scrubbing mystery food, shoe marks, crayon, etc. So far I like it.. plus it takes zero chemicals. The floors look amazing and feel really nice under my feet. I am going to do bathrooms tomorrow! The only thing is it doesn''t get in corners and crevices because of the large size of the head, but I knew that going in. It also couldn''t pick up stuff that was hardened to the floor .. there was a tiny, tiny piece of lettuce or something that it softened but I had to wipe it with a rag. Overall still much easier then sweeping and then mopping, and the floors feel MUCH cleaner and dry almost instantly. I can see where this isn''t for everyone which is why I wanted to buy it locally for hassle free returns. I got this for half of retail and I definitely think it''s worth that.

Summary:

Pros: Vacuum suction is strong, steam is 212 degrees, you can vacuum only, steam only or vacuum and steam at the same time, chemical free cleaning is kid/pet/earth friendly, it cleans, dries almost instantly, easier then sweeping and then mopping, construction feels sturdy, microfiber pads even feel well made.

Cons: Bulky head can''t get into corners/crevices, vacuum is loud, directions say to change the pad after 10 minutes of cleaning, definitely needs more pads, pads are expensive, may be necessary to wipe grout and stuck on food up yourself.

I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. If they found a way or added a tool for getting into corners and under cabinets or small crevices PLUS gave you at least 5 pads to start I would call this a 5.

Enjoy!

My husband and I purchased the Haan SV-60 Vacuum Steamer a couple of weeks or so ago. I love it! We ripped up all of our carpets a few years ago, mostly due to allergies. We have a combination of wood, tile and vinyl flooring throughout the house. We have two dogs and live on a dirt road, so dispite taking our shoes off at the door a lot of dirt gets tracked in anyway, and there is dog hair, of course. I find the machine does a better job of cleaning than I ever did with a vacuum and mop, and I only have to go over it once when I use the vacuum and steam feature at the same time. I do not find it needlessly hard to push either as some have claimed. I get the job done in less than half the time it used to take me with the vacuum and mop. I don''t have to drag out the vaccum, mop, bucket, or cleaner. We have no dusty vacuum smell either, due to the heppa filter. The house feels and smells fresh and clean when I am done, without the use of any chemicals! I highly recommend this machine.

SPT SF-608R Portable Evaporative Air Cooler Save 31% Off

SPT SF-608R Portable Evaporative Air CoolerFirst off, this is NOT an air conditioner. If you expect your room to be freezing cold, this is not the product for you. It''s a COOLER, and it does its job very well. It works by evaporating water. Try soaking a T-shirt, wringing it out, and putting it on wet to get the effect. It doesn''t work very well in humid areas, but it works GREAT where the air is dry.

I''m in southern California, where the humidity varies pretty widely. I place the cooler six or eight feet from my chair, and on the hottest days I''m quite comfortable.

Benefits:

* it''s about 1/5 the cost of an air conditioner

* operating expense is a fraction of the cost of air conditioning

* neat features! (timer, sleep function, etc.)

* remote control

Drawbacks:

* it''s not freezing cold like air conditioning.

Low price, very effective in low humidity. Has a strong fan when not using the cooling feature. Timer works well. Has an oscillating feature, a "sleep" mode and, most importantly: a drain plug, washable filter element and a plastic body that cannot rust like those made of sheet metal or tin.

It''s been in the high 90s to the low 100''s here in the San Fernando Valley in CA with low humidity and it''s kept whatever room it is in cool enough to not have to turn on the AC.

It''s no air conditioner, but it''s a low in cost [to purchase and to run]alternative you could even say was an "eco-friendly" way to stay comfortable in the summer. But then, my friends had to talk me out of buying a wringer washing machine, so my opinion is based on my personal preference for simplicity and old fashioned ways of doing things.

Take my review as you will. It does what it says it will. If you have frequent high humidity, it won''t be effective and the company tells you that so be forewarned. I find it to be a great buy and it runs quietly as well.

This is a FABULOUS product. I based my purchase on the reviews of this item. I had a similar product a few years ago and it doesnt compare to this as well as the other one being almost double this price. The cooler came a day PRIOR to the estimated delivery date.WOW........I live in Acampo California which is north of Lodi CA and south of Sacramento CA. The degrees outside at 5:40 pm is 93 degrees, the temperature inside of the house is 84 degrees and my bedroom (which is where I have my cooler) is 72 degrees. I use a pitcher of ice water from my fridge to fill it up and ice cubes in the top tray. For those of you that are young or have not had the experience of a "swamp cooler", they tend to have a musty smell to them. I solved this problem by purchasing a Glade Car oil fragrencer(?). It is intended to clip on the vents of your heating/air conditioning unit. I clip mine on the bottem lever of the cooler on the lowest setting and it gives off a slight fragrance with no musty smell whatsoever. My hats off to the seller, Amazon for carrying the product and the reviews that allowed me to purchase the best product out there. Happy Happy Happy!!!!

After reading conflicting reviews I was thoroughly confused, yet I was so desperately hot I took a chance on this product. Here is the true skinny on this portable cooling unit.

I live in Colorado. The humidity has ranged from 30 to 88%, the temperature 84-93 degrees. I filled the unit with 2 gallons of cold water from the frig and 2 trays of ice cubes. It absolutely blew cool air, even after the ice melted and the water reached room temperature it still blew cool air. Don''t bother checking a thermometer it DOES NOT cool an entire room, no matter how small, it cools the AREA you point it at.

If you sit at the computer or any other stationary position, place the unit within 7 feet, and point it in your direction you will be cooled.

As for the humidity, this is a problem only in a room with no air circulation.

I pointed the unit at my bed and was quite comfortable, even chilly. However, in this room I have only a small table fan and the windows are closed, so within 45 minutes I was suffocating from the humid air.

In the living room where I have 2 ceiling fans and 2 box fans-one in front of the half opened door, either turned to blow air in or flipped to pull air outI have had NO issues with humidity, even at 88%.

It beeps to let you know when the water level is low. It is easy to put handfuls of ice cubes in the tank but I found it really wasnt necessary. Pouring in the water is easy as well, but if you dont hold the little door open it will sometimes close leaving you pouring water onto your floor! I havent had to clean it yet, but the filter is easily accessible. It''s no louder than a box fan and wheels around smoothly. I wish the unit were a bit taller and the blower area a bit larger but these are my only negatives.

Overall, I got what I wanted. I no longer sit at my desk with wet rags on my head, miserable and hot. I dont have to stick something in my window, or spend hundreds for central AC. If you want a cool room, look for something else. If you want to be cool in a stationary location, and you have good air circulation this will work for you.

Want SPT SF-608R Portable Evaporative Air Cooler Discount?

We live in the heart of the desert in Nevada, and bought this as a way to cool individual rooms in the house vs. letting the central air cool the whole house. Why bother cooling the whole house when the family is together in one room for long periods of time?

We have a thermometer and hydrometer in the primary room we use it in. The room is about 400 sq ft. and we run it for hours. For coolness, it only gives us a 1-degree temp difference; sometimes 2-degrees with ice cold water, and ice cubes in both the main water chamber and top of unit.

The big difference we notice is with the humidity. We run about 20% humidity in the room normally. With this unit, it increases to 35-40% humidity. This helps with the dryness and with our allergies/asthma.

Overall, we use it more as a humidifier, but it does help us to increase the thermostat a few degrees at night when we run it in the bedroom, which saves a little on energy costs.

BISSELL 2X Spot & Stain Save 27% Off

BISSELL 2X Spot & Stain, 32 Ounces, 79B9Ok, the soap itself does a great job but use less soap to water ratio than they suggest otherwise it attracts dirt to that spot. If you dilute it more it still does a GREAT job and the spot does not attract dirt.

Bissell''s Little Green carpet machine is a must have item in our house. We recently had a cat get sick and we dealt with throw up on a pretty much daily basis for 4+ months, sometimes 2-3 times a day. During that time we experimented with a lot of different soap products for the Green Machine and this 2X Advanced Formula was easily the best one that we tried, especially in regards to how your carpet smells after cleaning. This formula smells really nice and it works great on stains. Overall this is a great formula and a significant improvement over the non concentrate Bissell formula that we used to use.

We tried using a more dilute mixture with this, as one of the reviews on here suggests, and we simply didn''t get the same results. Don''t get me wrong, it wasn''t a huge difference but there was a noticeable difference. We tried multiple weaker dilutions side by side with the recommended dilution and there was a very clear difference. We dont have a problem with the soap attracting dirt as we always do a 100% water rinse after using soap. This was a tip passed down from our professional carpet guy that we bring in a couple times a year to clean our carpet. We have been using him for over 15 years and the man knows almost everything there is to know about carpets. He basically told us that if we were going to use bissell machines that we had to make sure to get all of the soap out of the carpet. This is an issue with the home carpet machines as they dont have anywhere near the suction that the professional machines have. The best way to make sure your getting the soap out is to do a 100% water rinse after using the soap. In fact, he recommended going over it twice with water. If you dont get all the soap up then yes, it will eventually dry and become sticky and this will attract dirt and make your carpet get dirty faster. On top of that, the soap itself can actually damage the carpet fibers when left on for long periods.

I personally recommend using this soap at the recommended dilution, especially if your dealing with a noticeably dirty carpet or a stain. Just make sure you go back over it one or two times with just water to make use your getting all of the soap up. That''s how we do it and we have had nothing but great results. Then again, I would recommend doing the water rinse even if you did decide to dilute this formula a bit more.

Bottom line We consider our Bissell an absolute godsend and have no doubt whatsoever that our carpet would have been toast a LONG time ago if it weren''t for our Bissell. With that being said, this 2x Advanced Formula is the best cleaning formula we have tried yet. Together with a Bissell...well, they create a one two punch that very few stains can stand up too. If you have kids or animals, a Bissell and a bottle of 2x Advanced Cleaning Formula should be considered absolutely mandatory!

We''ve used Franke filters for years and always felt they did the job well. So when the plastic mount failed, we went ahead and replaced it with an expensive metal one. Hopefully Franke has stopped selling the cheap plastic version, but people stuck with these may experience a leak or worse when they go to replace the filter.

Vicks 1.0 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier

Vicks 1.0 Gallon Cool Mist HumidifierThis humidifier is cheaper than most, especially if you buy something else from the same manufacturer (the $10 off $30 coupon helps out).

It only has two speeds, low and high. HIgh is somewhat noisy, but what you would expect. However low is whisper quiet, you can''t even really tell it''s on at all. I have a somewhat large room 17x14 or so, and it easily keeps it humid in here (I have a clock that has humidity on it, and can see the difference). As far as replacement filters, it appears as those are reasonable as well.

It doesn''t have any real features, but it works and it has worked well for me so far with no complains. Quiet, cheap, and humidifes, it''s win-win.

I originally purchased this unit for my child''s room 2 years ago -worked fine. There was no soaked carpet, no leaks, no fires, and no problems finding filters. I even liked the level of sound it would get loud gradually. My child (now 2 yrs old) loved the sound so much we had to find a sound machine to duplicate it.

We purchased another unit for our second child''s room. Strangely, this unit worked differently than the first. The second one leaked (very litte nothing a hand towel under the unit couldn''t fix) and was MUCH louder than the first. I also found that I needed to refill this unit more often than I did the first.

I didn''t see too much of a problem with the difference, just thought it was worth mentioning...

I started getting sick, and for the first time since grade school had a bloody nose. That coupled with getting dry mouthed and dry skin and chapped lips every morning made me consider a humidifer.

When I went to the store I wanted a cool mist one, as cool mist would be nice in my room that is hot and dry during the winter. I expecte a misting machine, this thing doesnt mist, but I''m happy it doesn''t after reading all the review of people with soggy carpets because of their misters...

Since having this I haven''t felt as dry in the morning which is nice, I breathe easier and started feeling better. It a little louder than some but if you dont like the noise, turn down the speed to lower at night, I personally like some background noise and keep it on high.

The water last for a long time in these ones that use these wicks. There is only one downfall, mine is about a month old and the filter is getting pretty nasty already, although I admit my room is a dusty place and I''ve been using tap water. Apparently if you use those cheap 1 gallon Distilled waters the filter wont get all dirty or smelly as easily, as distilled water is pure, and tap water well....no matter what you think isn''t ;).

PRO: Humidifies room with few refills and doesn''t soak room.

CONS: The filter gets moldy/dirty pretty quick.

Hopefully this is usefull, I''m happy with it and I''m sure you''d be.

I have purchased and thrown away at least 3 other humidifier''s prior to this one. I really like this one. The maintenance is so much easier and so far no scaly build-up like I had with the others. I love that the basin tray can go in the dishwasher. I put the filter in the sun to dry out weekly. I am very pleased with this item and haven''t experienced any of the problems others have mentioned. Very happy!!

Want Vicks 1.0 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier Discount?

When I purchased this humidifier and set it up, I expected after a couple of hours to walk into my son''s room and be able to noticably tell that the humidifier was on. I couldn''t tell at all. The room felt just as it did a few hours earlier. With those old humidifiers that I grew up on, I was used to being able to see the humidified air coming out, and to have the room feeling almost muggy. I guess that''s what I expected.

At first, I was a little bothered that I couldn''t physically tell it was on and working. But, after running it for 3 days in a row now, my sons stuffy nose and cough have remarkably subsided, there''s no moisture buildup anywhere in the room, and my son is sleeping better.

So, although you don''t see or feel this humidifier working, it seems to have done really well in alleviating my sons cold symptoms. I am definitely becoming a fan of the evaporative technology this humidifier uses in controlling condensation build-up.

Bottom Line: If you buy this humidifier, be patient with it. Don''t assume it''s not working. You have to just watch for it to alleviate symptoms. You will NOT feel or see this thing working, but it has done wonders for my son.

The FXHSC is a great filter, with a very low pressure drop compared to the FXHTC filter. Our system filters lake water (Lake Champlain) & uses the FXHSC filter in combination with 2 other filters & a UV light. It picks up a fair amount of sediment but the water pressure stays fairly constant over the life of the filter, which is great. No complaints & the price is right.

Read Best Reviews of GE FXHSC Household Pre-Filtration Sediment Filter Here

I use this as an entry point filter for my well water. It works well but lasts only 2 months before the water pressure drops noticeably. This is probably not a fault of the filter but because of the amount of sediment in my well water. I tried going with a 50 micron filter (Culligan sells one which is the same size), but I started getting fine sediment in the taps with that one. Note that the holes in a 50 micron filter are 2.5 times as large as the holes in a 30 micron filter. Other than the fact that the 50 micron filter was not filtering well, it did last much longer than the GE filter. So, I am back to the GE filter and pretty much resigned to changing the filter every 2 months.

This review is being written for Amazon.com on 11/27/2010 for the Watts 531204 2-stage water filter.

This is a compact under-sink filter supplied with a dedicated water faucet for kitchen sink applications.

Easier to install if:

You already have a hole in the sink area to install the dedicated faucet (such as by eliminating an existing sink sprayer or lotion dispenser already installed in your home)

Your plumbing is fairly modern with standard size fittings

Your existing water shutoff valves function OK.

Your existing faucet to shutoff valve piping is flexible hose vs. hard pipe.

Harder to install if:

You need to drill a hole for the faucet mounting.

Your home has older water piping, such as iron pipe with non-standard fitting sizes.

Your shutoff valves are stuck and will not close.

Your existing faucet to shutoff valve connection is hard pipe vs. flexible hose.

Pro''s:

compact unit does not take too much space under the sink

much easier filter change than the average under-sink water filter

Con''s:

proprietary filters not widely available

This water filter is not fancy, does not do "reverse osmosis" and so forth. It''s a basic carbon filter with a sediment pre-filter.

Installation:

Turn off the cold water sink shutoff valve under the sink, open the faucet to verify the water truly shuts off. If no, then you may need to shutoff you whole house water supply (and replace the sink shutoff valve sometimes, too).

Mount the dedicated faucet (drilling hole to mount it if you do not already have one). Attach the plastic water tubing to the bottom of the faucet.

Mount the filter frame to the side of the kitchen cabinetry below your sink.

Remove the cold water supply going from the shutoff valve to the faucet.

Install the tee valve on the shutoff valve.

Re-install the cold water supply from the tee valve to the faucet (easy if the piping was flexible tubing. If hard piping, then the piping may need to be cut and fit).

Install the plastic tubing from the tee valve to the filter assembly intake.

Install the plastic tubing form the dedicated faucet to the filter output.

Open the dedicated faucet.

Turn on the cold water shutoff valve, and allow the water to run for several minutes to flush the system.

Check for leaks.

In my case, I had a hard iron pipe installation with frozen connectors, no shutoff valves under the sink, and a hard pipe water supply to the existing faucet. I found the easiest method was to buy an adapter from the iron pipe to the standard faucet connector, installed new shut-off ball valves there, and I replaced the existing faucet with a modern one that could use the flexible hose supply connections.

The quality of the dedicated faucet is not superb, but approximately what I expected for the price of this kit. The faucet spout moves when the valve is turned to the on position or back to off. However, after a year of usage, the system has not leaked.

Filter change of this unit is very easy compared to the average undersink filter kit. You turn off the cold water shutoff valve, push a button on the filter housing and remove/replace the filters (six month interval suggested). On the downside, these filters are proprietary (order from the manufacturer website as they are generally not available in stores).

I''ve used several different undersink filter kits over the years, and this one gets top marks for ease of filter change. It gets OK marks for completeness of the kit. And OK marks for quality of the dedicated faucet.

The water in this household has sediment/rust issues (related to the old iron pipes), so the 1st stage of prefilter helps there. I was wondering if the sediment would clog the screening leading into the filter or within the filter itself, and that has not happened. The second stage of the filter is a carbon block and performs the main filtering function. Water tastes OK from the unit. It''s best to always let it run a bit before using in order to flush the filter.

Big Berkey Water Filter with 4 7" British Berkefeld Ceramic Filters Save 33% Off

Big Berkey Water Filter with 4 7'' British Berkefeld Ceramic FiltersI use about a gallon of water a day and I know this because I use to buy filtered water either in new containers or refilling five gallon water bottles. I did not want a water filter that I had to plumb in under the sink or anything that I would have to attach to the water faucet. When I researched the ceramic filter with the carbon center and the impregnated silver and the number of gallons of city tap water that this unit would process ~ 6,000 gallons! ~ I calculated that I would break even, at one dollar a gallon at the store, in less than one year. Added to this, the first set of filters will last well into ten years. Being conservative, and assuming I use only 300 gallons a year that is 3,000 less plastic containers going into land fills, thousands of dollars saved, 24,000 pounds of water I do not have to carry from the grocery store to my home ~ water weights 8 pounds per gallon ~ and who knows what else. I fill it up at night and have water all day. I am proud to own something that really is GREEN and that makes my life so much easier and my carbon footprint so much smaller. Highly, highly recommended. OK, one con: It takes up precious counter space if you have a small place. A small price to pay for such a wonderful, simple, valuable convenience.

When considering a Berkey look at the different capabilities of the black (more expensive) filters as compared to the ceramic ones. If you are concerned about heavy metals, ceramic does not filter them. The Berky enterprise is fragmented among different entities and they do not point this difference out and do not provide side by side comparisons of the two filters. The Berkey Filters website does not even MENTION the ceramic filters, only the black one. "James Filters" website has the ceramic ones. James Enterprises in Pueblo, CO is I thinks the overall company for all the the Berkey variations.

This is so confusing and undermined my confidence in this choice I made (ceramic). Customer service said they would exchange the filters so now I need to decide and deal with that hassle.

Why have they evolved into this Byzantine set up escapes me.

So look carefully at both filters before deciding.

We''ve had our Big Berkey for 10 years now and I appreciate it more all the time. One thing I did not realize is the ceramic filters last virtually forever and I bought a box of them -totally unnecessary. We use it to make the water taste better, but it''s a relief knowing we will have good water even after a hurricane or if there is a boil water alert. It''s easy to fill, plus, there''s no plastic bottle waste, no lifting cases of water from the store. The only possible negative is you do have to wait for the gravity feed to filter the water if you have just filled it. I think that is more than off-set by the positives.

I have been using my Berkey filter for about a month now and am loving the quality of the water and not having to lug bottles of water from the store every couple of days. I initially gave the product a 4 star rating because there was a small dent in the upper chamber. Without even having to contact customer service, a Berkey representative saw my review and offered to replace the chamber or to provide a discount due to the damage. Since the dent wasn''t too big and has not adversely affected the Berkey''s performance I decided that I didn''t need it replaced. The Berkey rep then informed me they would be sending out 2 Berkey sport bottles to compensate for the damage. I''m very pleased with the product and really impressed with the customer service.

Watts 116054 Standard Faucet

Watts 116054 Standard Faucet with Air Gap, Stainless
  • Air Gap faucet to meet plumbing codes for reverse osmosis units
  • Meets all low lead NSF requirements
  • Multiple colors available for custom kitchens
  • Fits all under counter reverse osmosis water filter systems
  • Uses 1/4" Supply Tube

BEFORE YOU PURCHASE--if your old faucet is just leaking or making noise, see "maintenance" below.

QUALITY

The faucet is good quality. I used it to replace an identical one which had operated flawlessly for 20 years.

STYLE

The design is very convenient: The lever has three positions, 1) UP = open (conveniently for filling a pot), 2) closed, 3) DOWN = press-open, which is convenient for filling a glass---even with the hand you are holding the glass. Many more expensive faucets are "crank open" / "crank shut. The "giraffe neck" rotates 360 degrees, and so, if installed at the corner of a sink (or elsewhere), can fill a pot placed on the counter.

WHAT''S INCLUDED / WHAT''S NOT INCLUDED

Included: the faucet itself, hardware to install in the counter-top, and fittings to attach the blue tube to the faucet. NOT INCLUDED: any fittings to attach the 3 water tubes to the filters, drain, etc.

SUPPLIED INSTRUCTIONS

NO MEANINGFUL INSTRUCTIONS are included, and are incomplete for this faucet. The instructions printed on the box are for several different types of faucets, do NOT show you how to attach the blue tube, and do not helpfully identify the red and black tubes. If I had tried to install the faucet following the "instructions" I would have installed it wrong. Solution: Install the faucet according to the instructions which came with your water filter system, exactly as your previous faucet was installed.

INSTALLATION SUGGESTIONS

Note that you can install it as shown on the photo, or reversed with the lever toward the sink (which I think is more convenient).

Turn off the water supply to the water filter which is attached to the faucet you are replacing; open the old faucet an let it drain until no more water comes out (the same steps you''d take for replacing filters).

Blue tube: attach to the "stud" on the bottom of the faucet with the supplied fittings (nylon ferrule and compression nut)

Red tube: pre-attached, "brine input"

Black tube: pre-attached, "brine output"--i.e., waste water line to your kitchen sink drain-line

You will probably have to remove part of your osmosis system to gain access. When disconnecting your old system, label each connection you disconnect on both sides. Use a 2" to 3" strip of painter''s tape and fold it over in half to make a tab to write on (and use a permanent marker). Number the connections 1, 2, 3, etc. Remember to label BOTH sides of the connection with the SAME number (1 connects to 1, 2 connects to 2, 3 connects to 3, etc.). Disconnect as few water lines as you can. As a backup, take closeup photos with your digital camera of every connection which you plan to disconnect AFTER labeling and BEFORE disconnecting.

Preparing for installation of the new faucet. Assemble the spacer, washer, and nut on the faucet (leave about 1/2" for the thickness of your counter). Install the blue line on the faucet using the supplied hardware (a nylon ferrule and a compression nut). It is a good idea to install the fittings on the other ends of the tubes at this point (you will probably have to reuse them from your old faucet connections).

Lower the tubes through the hole in your counter-top, until the new faucet is in place. Decide on which direction you want the lever to point. From underneath, slide the "split washer" in place between the counter-top and the spacer, and tighten the nut. (You should have the right size box wrench ready--space and visibility are likely to be very tight, and it is hard to determine what the right size is blindly. Alternatively, you can use a deep socket wrench (if you have one of the right size), and install the blue tube later. Many faucet installation kits include such a socket--this one doesn''t). Note that the space may be very right---pliers or an adjustable wrench probably won''t work.

Attach the blue and red tubes to your filter system and the black tube to your sink drain. It is best not to cut the red or blue tubes, even if they are too long, because their length provides easier access to the system for maintenance (you can move the tank and/or filters temporarily without disconnecting the lines). However the black drain tub should probably be cut so the waste water flows straight to the drain, without a dip in which the waste water can collect. Ideally, the black waste line should be as short and as steep as possible. Important: if you must cut a blue or red tube, cut it with a very sharp blade (such as a utility knife with a new sharp blade), absolutely perpendicular.

FIXING LEAKS AFTER NEW INSTALLATIONS--see also "maintenance" below

After installing the new faucet, you should monitor the system for at least 12 hours for leaks--they can develop slowly. If there is a leak you can''t find, tie strips of paper kitchen towels around the tubes and place paper towels at other strategic points; check after about 15 minutes and the source of the leak should be obvious.

Although the fittings are designed to install without plumber''s thread tape, or plumber''s paste, if after reasonably tightening them, they still leak, then plumber''s pipe tape or paste will help. You can use "Plumber''s Goop" on the threads rather than traditional plumber''s pipe paste. For Goop to work best, the fittings should be dry before you assemble them. Eclectic Products Inc 3.7Oz Plumbing Goop 150011 Thread Tape & Paste

If that fails, you can use a blob of "Plumber''s Goop" on the outside of the fitting as a sealant to stop the leak. In the latter case, you MUST allow the "Plumber''s Goop" to harden for at least TWO FULL days before turning on the water to the filter/faucet. Plumber''s Goop used this way can be reinforced by embeding dental floss in the wet glue. I sometimes use Goop as a backup on fittings that are NOT leaking, but using Goop this way can make the connection difficult or impossible to disassemble at some later time.

NOTE that a tiny leak in any part of your kitchen plumbing can easily cause hundreds (even thousands) of dollars worth of damage. A leak detector is strongly recommended. Zircon Leak Alert Electronic Water Detector, 1-Pack Such a detector warned of a leak in my hot-water-heater cabinet before irreparable damage was done.

ROUTINE NOISE

In normal operation the air-gap causes a dripping noise (usually for about 5 to 15-minutes immediately after using a quantity of water from your reverse osmosis system). If the water supplies an ice-maker, you can hear the dripping at other times. According to the Watt company, most of that noise is actually the waste water splashing into the pool of waste water in the elbow below your sink---so (according to Watt), a heavy nylon fishing line in the black waste water line leading into your sink drain and down to the elbow can minimize the noise, providing a path for the waste water to flow, but I have not tried that, because the noise doesn''t bother me. Theoretically, a sink strainer in the closed position should completely muffle the sound (but I use a simple screen instead which catches more stuff). Besides, the dripping sound is a good way to monitor that the system is working properly.

MAINTENANCE

After about 6 months of use, the black waste-water tube can become clogged with a bacterial mat. If you pay attention, there is an odd choking gurgling sound when the tube is almost clogged. When it is clogged, the waste water will leak from the faucet itself out onto your counter. Note that it is actually designed to do this, which is why instructions usually specify mounting the faucet at the edge of a sink (assuming that most of the overflow will flow into the sink). The solution is to regularly clean the waste-water tube. The best way I''ve found is with an 18" length of "weed-whacker" cord. Detach the tube from your sink waste-line, and feed the "weed-whacker cord" into the tube and scrub it out. If you''ve had a root-canal procedure, you know how it''s done. Note that the bacterial mat is a nasty sludge---have an old cloth towel handy to catch the gunk. I recently purchased a "beer line brush" Draft Beer Line Hose Cleaning Brush: 3/16" diameter, which works well---the 1/4" diameter model would probably also work.

Since physically cleaning out the gunk the last time, I''ve been sqirting a few drops of Clorox into the air-gap hole (in the faucet housing). The follow bottle, which works well for this purpose is $3 at the Container Store Nalgene Plastic Drop Bottle. Note that on this and similar models, the air gap is beneath the lever, opposite the girafe neck. For access, pull the girafe neck up, and slide the lever forward (in the direction of the girafe neck). The "air gap" is the hole which contains the black plastic insert (leave the plastic insert alone, it is the tiny "faucet" where the the red water line discharges into the air gap). To reassemble, push the lever backward (in the direction of the air gap), so that the legs slide under the "T", and then push the girafe neck back into place. In the more recent models (those which are domed cylinders without the flat sides), the air gap is accessible, a hole on the back side---perhaps for the very purpose of making the air gap easier to sanitize.

LEAKING (see also "maintenance")

If the faucet leaks ONLY when you are using it (usually after 10 years or so off use), then the problem may be the o-ring seals. You can just pull the "giraffe neck" straight up, and replace the o-rings. LIGHTLY lubricate the o-rings with silicon grease. Permatex 22058 Dielectric Tune-up Grease 3 oz. It is a good idea to dab a little bit of the silicon grease where the lever rubs against the giraffe neck to minimize wear---and for noticeable smoother operation. If you don''t happen to have a tube of silicon grease, buy one---it is terrific for rejuvenating any rubber items and for improving electrical connections---even fixing computer problems.

DON''T PANIC

Yes that nasty sewage-like sludge in the waste line is scary stuff---but the "air gap" is a separate system with only shares the faucet structure---the good water supply is entirely separate from the "air gap" system. What about the possibility of the "contamination" growing it''s way into your reverse-osmosis filter?---"theoretically" it shouldn''t get past the air gap---but you could install an "inline check valve" in the red tube to minimize the possibility. If your reverse-osmosis waste-water line did not drain into your sink-waste pipe, then your reverse-osmosis waste water line could not get contaminated by the sludge growing in the elbow in the sink-waste pipe, and would not make even "routine" noise---hint.

Buy Watts 116054 Standard Faucet Now

I bought this faucet to replace the faucet with LED indicators that came with my 5-stages RO system from Watts Premier. I installed this faucet in a granite sink countertop. I had to cut the white plastic spacer by 1/4 inch to compensate for the width of the countertop. The brushed stainless steel matched the main sink faucet. Replacing the old faucet was not difficult at all.

Now I have my water system on top working condition.

Update: 3/26/11, This faucet has been fantastic. This is a high quality faucet. Love the look of stainless/nickel. Not sure why a couple of people have complained about grease on or in the faucet, mine was very clean with no grease at all.

Received my order today, It was the correct type, a Standard 3-Tube Air Gap Faucet for RO systems. The product is of high quality and exactly the type of faucet I expected.

Just an FYI: due to the corrosive properties of RO water and the brine water traveling through the Air Gap Faucet you should expect to need to replace the Air Gap Faucet every several years, I have needed to replace mine 3 times in 13 years. I think the next time I will just replace the whole RO system.

I gave it only 4 stars because I don''t know for sure which product I actually received. The Box is labeled Watts Premier Part# 116054 which according to the Watts website is the "Brushed Stainless Steel Air Gap Faucet" however the UPC tag# 9935-"116054", also on the box, clearly says "Brushed Nickel Air Gap Faucet" which is Watts Part# 116101, since brushed Nickel and Stainless look so similar I am not sure it is going to matter. But I will update after install and let you know which item I think I actually received. Perhaps Watts sells the same faucet under two descriptions and prices.

Update: I am fairly certain the faucet I received is Stainless Steel, even though the description on the box says "Brushed Nickel"

Received this item in a short amount of time. Very pleased with it as it is exactly the same as the one that came with the original osmosis system. Product came as described on your website !

The faucet was easy to install with simple connections. It did what it was supposed to do.

  • Capacity: 10 8oz cups
  • Electronic filter change indicator
  • Flip top lid for easy refilling
  • Soft grip for comfort
  • Reduces chlorine (taste and odor), mercury, lead and more

OK, the day I got this home, the hinged lid fell off and one of the little plastic dealibobs that is part of the hinge system broke. So, it''s not well-made.

Now, other than that it works great, except that the filters are fairly pricey.

It does make our hard-as-a-rock water taste better, however.

Mr. Coffee JWX39 Coffeemaker Save 3% Off

Mr. Coffee JWX39 Coffeemaker with Grinder/Water Filter/Permanent Filter BundleWe have had Mr. Coffee Machines in our home for decades. We have also tried other brands over the yearsthe one cup Keurig being a recent favorite because of all the different delicious flavors you can try. Mr.Coffee always has one issue, and that is, it makes a weaker cup of coffee unless you use more beans or stronger beans. This JWX39 Model is a first, as it has both a regular and strong brew modeand the strong mode, for the first time ever, actually makes a STRONG cup of coffee. It seems to take a minute or two longer on the strong modebut a wonderful strong delicious cup of coffee is what you get for that extra minute or two. This model makes the strongest cup of coffee we have ever had from Mr. Coffee and this is a first for us! No more extra beans or stronger beanssaving us money.

The 12 cup programmable coffeemaker itself is stainless and black, very light weight and a nice size for the counter. It has an on/off light, removeable filter basket, a pause and serve, a 2 hour auto shut off and even a cleaning cycle. The glass carafe is dishwasher safe and there is a ding sound when the coffee is ready and also when it shuts down after 2 hours. This bundle comes with the coffeemaker, a grinder, a permanent gold filter basket (never buy paper filters againsaving money) and two water filters. Do you need water filters? I can only tell you that when we don''t use them, the coffee is bitter. The permanent gold basket coffee filter is a huge money saver and lasts for years. As for the grinderthis is the greatest item in the bundle. The grinder isn''t the best one on the market, but if you grind and stop and shake it up a bit and then grind moreit all comes out even. Just grinding it, without shaking it up, comes out part thin and part rough. The shaking gets it even.

We put the beans in the grinder and experimented with adding different spices and flavorsvanilla beans, cinnamon, drop of peppermint oil, coco, powdered chocolate and different spices. Wowwhat fun it is to come up with wonderful flavors custom made to our tastes! The biggest thing we noticed is how inexpensive it is to have a custom made cup of coffee compared to the very expensive Keurig tiny cups. Mr. Coffee with a grinder is a huge money saver! This Bundled Mr. Coffee Set makes a delicious strong OR regular cup of coffee, it filters out any bitterness, you never have to buy paper filters and you can make a custom cup of coffee that everyone will enjoy with the grinder. And after you are finished enjoying your delicious cup of coffee, it has a special cleaning cycle and dishwasher safe carafe to save you time. Because this coffeemaker is the first Mr. Coffee one that makes a strong delicious cup of coffee without adding extra or stronger beans, I would rate it 5 stars based on that alone, but with the wonderful bundle that lets you create any delicious cup you can dream up, it really earns 5 stars!

Waited for over six months to review this Mr. Coffee JWX39 Coffeemaker, Grinder, Water Filter, and Permanent Filter Bundle that I purchased here in February 2012, as over the years I''ve had too many failures with drip coffeemakers of all types, and wanted to see if this one might hold up. So far it has, but this will be a dynamic review, with updates as necessary. These are the high and low points:

Likes:

+ Makes excellent coffee; brew strength can be set for either regular or strong coffee

+ Mild alarm sounds when coffee is ready; no need to watch the pot

+ Completely programmable; set the unit for when you want it to turn on

+ 2-hour auto shut-off; keeps coffee warm for 2 hours, automatically shuts off

+ Water window on right; shows the amount of water in the reservoir

+ Carafe can be removed while coffee is brewing; good for that early cup

+ Attractive black and stainless steel finish; easy to clean

+ Excellent selection of accessories with this bundle

Dislikes:

Water drips from bottom of brew basket when carafe is removed

Clock may be difficult for some users to read

In Use:

This Mr. Coffee JWX39 Coffeemaker is a pleasure to use. It came well packaged, and was quite easy to set up. The directions are easy to follow, and once the time was set and unit was programmed, followed the directions for cleaning the coffeemaker prior to its initial use. This coffee maker measures 9 ½ inches wide by 11 ½ inches deep by 20 inches high. The size is right, but be aware that you need to allow an extra 9 to 10 inches to open the left-hinged top to change the coffee filter and add water.

From that first pot of coffee, the quality has been as good as any automatic drip coffeemaker that I''ve used, regardless of cost. This particular bundle comes equipped with the following accessories:

> Mr. Coffee IDS59-4 Electric 2-2/7-Ounce Coffee Grinder

> Mr. Coffee WF10 Water Filter

> Mr. Coffee GTF2-1 Gold Tone Permanent Filter

All of these have proven to be very handy and good selections for a bundled package such as this. One concern that I had from prior experience was the glass carafe. If you ever break it (and it happens), the Mr. Coffee PLD12-2 12-Cup Replacement Decanter is the correct one to get, and I looked this up prior to purchasing this unit.

Experience is a great teacher, and one thing that I''ve learned over the years is that minerals (usually calcium or limestone) found in water will leave deposits in any coffeemaker of this type, which will affect its performance. To decalcifying this or any similar coffeemaker, you don''t need commercial solutions. Follow the regular cleaning decalcifying instructions that come with the coffeemaker but substitute 4 cups of undiluted, white household vinegar. With this unit, the cleaning cycle is automatic, and will take about 45 minutes to complete. But read the directions the first time.

Getting this particular coffeemaker was almost like a trip to the past. The Mr. Coffee brand drip coffeemaker was first made available for home use in 1972, and I was one of those early adopters. That simple white unit with its wood grain face and removable drip basket became my favorite kitchen appliance while in college, and it lasted for years.

A friend gave me my first Krups drip coffeemaker as a gift after I had broken the glass carafe on my original Mr. Coffee unit, and keeping this short, it became a cycle between Krups and Braun over the years, usually ending with the units burning out. Sometimes they were repairable, but over time that also seemed to change as manufacture went from Germany to Mexico and beyond.

Summary:

When my last Braun quit working over a year ago, I started looking again. I came very close to getting the Cuisinart DCC-2650 Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, which had all of the right features, but when I searched further here on Amazon, I found this unit by Mr. Coffee on sale at the time, and bought it on impulse.

Other than the minor dislikes that I''ve noted above, this Mr. Coffee JWX39 Coffeemaker Bundle has performed quite well. Again, it''s been in service a bit over six months now, and has continued to reliably make one to two pots of good, strong coffee daily. For now I''ll call this a solid 4-star product, and if it makes it past its first year, I''ll be back to upgrade it to a 5-star recommendation... wish me luck.

Buy Mr. Coffee JWX39 Coffeemaker Now

Before buying this "bundle", make sure you actually want and will use all of the components. Otherwise you''re better off just buying individual items that you really want separately. Since we have well water, the included water filters that remove chlorine are of little use to me. I probably wouldn''t use them anyway because I see them as just something more to fool with when making a pot of coffee.

The grinder works well, and freshly ground coffee does taste pretty good. However, I quickly lost interest in it and have only used it a few times.

As far as the main piece of the package, the coffee pot, it''s a nice looking appliance that makes a decent pot of coffee. I set up my coffee pot the night before and have never detected and plastic taste by doing that, as others have complained.

The coffee brews in a reasonable amount of time, though I noticed the time is lengthened when setting the brew strentgth to strong. There''s a mostly universal pause and pour feature on this model that works fairly well. Most of the time a few drips hit the hot plate when I use the feature.

If you want to take advantage of the built in clock, place Mr. Coffee in a well lit spot or you won''t be able to read those hard to see digital digits.

Filling the pot could be more convenient with a larger opening. I find that it''s easier to add water to a pot with a swing out filter design. The window that indicates the amount of water in the cavity is easy to read even in moderate light.

If you place the Mr. Coffee under a cabinet like I did, you''ll have to move it every time you fill or clean it. The large door atop the 13 inch tall appliance hits the bottom of our cabinets.

When the coffee is down to the last few drops of brewing, Mr. Coffee alerts you with a repeating beep that eventually stops. For me the signal is annoying and unnecessary, but some may like this feature.

After two weeks of use the glass carafe developed a crack. I discovered the crack after a pot of coffee leaked all over the counter top and dripped down into the dishwasher and onto the floor. What a great way to begin the day!

I''m having a difficult time finding a replacement carafe. When I went to the Mr. Coffee site, this specific model isn''t listed. Replacements on Amazon may work,: one mentions the JW series, and it''s only dollars.

My recommendation: If you decide on this Mr. Coffee model, you''re better off buying the bundle components separately. Be aware of its 13" height and 9" by 7" lid when planning its placement. My coffee pot will be on hiatus until I can find a suitable replacement carafe.

Like many, I enjoy fresh brewed coffee in the morning before starting out the day. And good coffee helps you to start the day in a positive note. As an avid coffee drinker, I do prefer percolated coffee over drip coffee method. However, I also enjoy drip coffee when it is available. This particular item is a bundled product. It comes with: Mr. Coffee JWX39, Grinder, Water Filter, and Permanent Filter. If you just want the coffee maker, you could simply purchase Mr. Coffee JWX39 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Stainless Steel for $34.85 at Amazon.

Overall this coffeemaker bundle is decent, but you do not really need the bundle. Let me explain.

1. COFFEEMAKER = This is programmable 12 cup drip coffeemaker that is very common today. The taste will not be that different from other drip coffee models. The coffee taste largely depends on the the type of coffee you use and the water. But because of its 2 settings: "Regular" and "Strong" brew, you could choose the strength of your coffee, instead of just having one. "Strong" brew is indeed darker taste while "regular" brews is a bit milder. But note that "Strong" brew takes longer time to make the coffee.

2. DESIGN = I like the design overall. You can easily pour water into the reservoir (it has separate opening), and accidental overflow is prevented by 2 small rectangular opening on the side of the reservoir when the water is filled over 12 cup. The excess water will flow outside of the coffeemaker, so be prepared to wipe the excess water.

3. TIMER = Timer works, but the digital display is hard to read, because it is not backlit and it is small.

4. BUTTONS = the buttons are small too, but easy to find because of LED light according to its functions.

5. BUNDLES = [1] Grinder: it works fine and if you are the type of person who purchases coffee beans, then you probably already own one. So you might not need this bundled item. [2] Water filter: it comes with 2 extra water filters, and it removes 97% of the chlorine. But if you use filtered water, such as, Brita or Pur, then you do not need this. Filtered water is better. [3] Permanent filter: This is decent, but again, you need to wash after each use. But if you have disposable paper filter, it is easier to simply throw away than washing the filter. All in all, you DO NOT need the bundled product. But if this is your FIRST coffeemaker ever, then this bundled item is cheaper than buying each items separately.

All in all, the coffeemaker is decent and attractive, but the bundled items? It depends on you. If you already have bundled items, just get the coffeemaker, but if this is your FIRST drip coffeemaker, then bundled items might be useful to you.

The Mr.Coffee I had prior to this one would not keep the coffee hot enough so I went out and bought a Black & Decker coffee maker which quit working in about 6 months.

This Mr.Coffee keeps the coffee very hot and my wife likes the grinder and also the water/permanent filter are a nice feature. Lets hope it keeps working for more than 6 months.

SPT Polar Bear Ultrasonic Humidifier Save 33% Off

SPT Polar Bear Ultrasonic HumidifierI already have a Hello Kitty Crane type Humidifier and almost got another but decided to get this Polar Bear one instead. I''m glad I got this one for my bedroom since it''s about half the size of Hello Kitty and is easy to refill (a bit more easier than Hello Kitty).

It''s not heavy as the HK one can get and it''s easier to clean too. On the Medium setting (which would be halfway to to the MAX settingsince there''s no actual words printed on the unit, just dots), it lasted for almost 3 days straight on a full tank and then it turned off automatically when empty. It works really well even though it''s smaller.

Hello Kitty does not turn off like this one does when the tank is empty, the HK stays on with a red light glowing. This one really does turn off and doesn''t keep using your electricity like the HK one does.

Plenty of steam comes from the nose of the bear on MAX but the things near it will get wet easily fairly quickly. I recommend the Medium setting and you''ll get the best output for moisture that isn''t too much or too little. Plus it''ll last for days (2 days and a half or so for me and even though the tank isn''t real big, it lasts a long while more than the HK one. It''s really nice not have to refill so often).

Hello Kitty has a soft blue night light feature, but it does get a little hot at the base. No fire issues for me though and I''ve had mine for years.

The Polar Bear''s base gets warm but it''s no where near hot and when it turns off due to an empty tank, it really does turns off (unlike HK which stays on and continues to be hot at the base).

I get sinusitis often due to polyps so this humidifier is a must for me. I sleep better because of it.

This unit is probably the safest option/version for your kids since it doesn''t get heated like the Crane ones (I do like the Crane units except for the heat issue).

I highly recommend this Polar Bear. It''s blue and white and very cute/charming with the bear having a clear blue tummy. (The HK model is hard to see the water level unless you turn on the night light and it''s dark in the room.)

I''m thinking of buying another for my sister. Just wish it had a night light feature like the Hello Kitty one does. Thank you for reading my review :)

I bought this in April 2011 and I''m having to send it in for warranty work already. When it works, it''s awesomemy son loves it, it''s helped tremendously with his dry skin, it''s not incredibly noisy so he''s able to sleep just fine with it on. After a few months of nightly use, it started making a loud buzzing noise intermittently. When this would happen, the mist output decreased significantly. It''s been getting progressively worse, to the point that we haven''t used it at all for the last 3-4 months. I finally e-mailed Sunpentown after going through all the troubleshooting steps, and they said it''s probably the nebulizer. It''s still under the 1 year manufacturer''s warranty, so I''ll be sending it to them in the next few days. My only complaint is that they don''t pay shipping both ways (only return shipping), but I think that''s pretty typical of most companies.

I get frequent "dry winter nosebleeds" and I wanted a small humidifier on my nightstand and this one works great! Only have to fill it up every other day. I have no problems with it. Love how cute it is :)

Dry air is a killer when you have cough and congestion. I ordered this little guy and slept like a baby. He''s fairly quiet, easy to use, safe, and very effective.

Bought this model because my Vick''s was growing mold, smelled horrible and was leaking all over the place after just 6 months of use Vicks V4500 FilterFree Humidifier. So far I have nothing bad to say about this product. First of all, it is adorable. The price was right. The water tank lasts a few days so I don''t have to constantly refill it. The mist does not get all over the walls and floors. It is also very quiet. Once my daughter is here I plan to put it on a shelf in her room with all her stuffed animals.

Hopefully it does not start to grow mold like my Vick''s model didI plan to rinse this bad boy out once a week with hot water and vinegar. I will update the review if anything changes.

Crane Demineralization Filter Cartridge Save 18% Off

Crane Demineralization Filter Cartridge for Crane Frog, Cow, Pig, Panda, Penguin and Elephant Cool Mist HumidifiersMy advice is to keep the original cap in case you decide this filter is not for you.

It managed to stop mineral deposits from building up further on the side of the resevoir, but the water gained a musty smell after a 15 gallons/three weeks of use. I sanitize with chlorinated water bi-weekly.

It was especially apparent in warm heated rooms. The risk of bacterial growth outweighs the benefits of the filter for me and I do not recommend this product.

I got a lot of these Crane humidifiers. We have a lot of minerals in our water, so I got these filters. Some of the humidifiers made too much noise to use in a bedroom. They are extremely cute, though, and inexpensive.

I got white dust everywhere even with the filters, even after also using water run through another charcoal filter. If you are serious about these humidifiers, you need to use distilled water. Then you won''t need these filters.

About the white dust, I mean literally everywhere, inside the DVD player for instance. I have quit using all of the Crane humidifiers and put them away. I was really sad about this, because they are so cute. They did raise the humidity about 10%. We live in the desert, it is very dry in the winter.

I bought the Crane Penguin humidifier about 2 months ago. The filter arrived about a week later. My experience applies to people using HARD TAP WATER. So far I''ve found that, although the filter helped with keeping the humidifier a bit cleaner (I clean it once a week with diluted bleach for the tank and vinegar for the base), it only seemed to work to reduce white dust (from hard water minerals) for just over a month, using the humidifier at a low or medium setting. I''m considering using distilled water instead it might work out cheaper than having to replace the filter every couple of months. I would definitely advise to keep the original cap for the tank and try the humidifier with and without filter.

This filter ruined my humidifier which had worked perfectly without it. Here is what happened to me. The humidifier, with filter in place, had been running for a couple of days when I noticed an odd smell upon entering the room. I determined it was coming from the humidifier, so I unplugged it and removed the water tank to take a look. To my shock, the bottom on the humidifier was filled with the amber colored pellets that once were inside the filter. The pellets filled up the area that should have been filled with water. The reservoir had water in it and the unit continued to run, but was overheating because the water wasn''t able to flow. The heat damaged (melted) the nebulizer black ring so that the water just leaks right through the bottom now. I am glad that I found out before it caused a fire. Crane customer service has not responded to my email either.

I don''t know what this thing was really designed to do but it seems that mostly what it does is fill your dehumidifier with icky brown water.

Ronco Brew System White Save 53% Off

Ronco Brew System WhiteThis coffeetime cold brew coffee maker is great for the price. Sure, its made of plastic and I''d rather have an all glass maker but for the price I''m happy I bought it. The many benefits of cold brewed coffee: 1) it reduces the acid for those of us who have stomach, acid reflux, bladder problems or pregnant. 2) it nearly eliminates all the bitter taste of coffee. 3) we are all rushed in the mornings and its so fast to make a cup of coffee from the cold brewed concentrate. 4) I haven''t been able to drink coffee for several years but now that I have this cold brew maker I can drink several cups a day. 5) it taste delicious!

Tips on use: this coffee maker calls for the old fashioned white basket style standard (8-10 cup) paper coffee filters. When using the old fashion standard size paper filter, you will find that your water and grinds will over flow the filter because its too small. I use the huge commercial size basket style filters along with the disk filter that comes with this brewer; using the two together makes for a quicker drip time. Use 1/2 lb of "drip grind" or preferably "electric perk grind" coffee (decaf or reg) per 5 6 cups of water. Let it sit for 12 24 hours (NOT in sunlight) then pull the plug/stopper at the bottom of the white Ronco "brew unit" funnel and your concentrate will flow out in about 30 minutes with the double filtering as mentioned above or an hour with just the felt type filter (I have allowed mine to drip for several hours to get every last bit). Note: most of your coffee comes out in the first 30 minutes to an hour. I again, cold brew the used grinds a second time for another 12 24 hours. The second brewing with the used coffee grinds gives me half the amount of concentrate as the first brew; I then add the two together. To prepare, I use = portions: 1/2 coffee concentrate and half almond milk. Place your finished cold brew concentrate in the fridge for up to 14 days (preferably in glass) because this unit is NOT BPA free. I do not use the plastic storage container that comes with the coffee maker; instead, I use a tall wide mouth mason jar or my sun tea jar because I am trying to lessen the BPA''s from plastic in my food. Also, I do NOT use the white Ronco "brew unit" funnel with stopper to brew my coffee in either. Since the coffee sits ("brews") for 12 -24 hours, I, Instead, use a wide mouth glass jar. I only use the white funnel unit for about an hour to filter my coffee grinds; for all else, I use glass jars. It would be nice if this coffee maker itself was glass or a BPA-free plastic but then it wouldn''t be this cheap.

Lastly, I hear people say they "cold brew" in a french press. This is not actual "cold brew" coffee since you are not filtering out all the volatile oils. Using a french press to make your cold brew is fine if you do not have a health issue. In some cases, it may even taste better. When you start using a filtering system, you will see all the "gummy" oils that get filtered out and trashed. Many of us can not consume them due to health reasons.

After looking into cold coffee units a few years back, I decided I wanted to revisit getting a cold coffee unit this year. When I did, the prices were rather high!

So when I saw this Ronco in the local walgreen''s store''s clearance area, marked down to $10.99, I decided to give it a shot.

[NOTE: Even if you pay the Ronco full retail price, it is the cheapest "cold coffee maker" I have found.]

What it is:

Basically this is a glorified funnel with feet (feet keep it standing upright during the "brewing" phase), that you "plug" during the brewing phase.

When it comes time to drain, you position the recovery bottle directly below the plugged hole

(plug is in the middle of unit, on the underside).

Pull the plug, seat the top funnel section on top the recovery bottle and let it drain.

Design:

Top of container is about 6.5 inches in diameter. About 5.5 inches deep.

There is a recessed area in the bottom of the top unit, that is about 2.5 inches in diameter and like half an inch deep.

A round, felt style filter goes in here, to stop the coffee grounds that the paper filter does not catch.

[Note2: And there can be a lot of grounds that the paper filter does not catch.

[The designers really should have included a plastic, ultra-fine screen filter as part of this unit].

Below the filter area is the drain hole. A rubber plug is used to close the drain hole during the coffee "brewing" phase.

A bit messy, but the resulting coffee has so far been worth the extra a bit of a "post-brewing cleanup" effort.

Bottom line:

A cheap way to experience cold coffee.

This product works great! I agree w/ those who wish the storage container was glass instead of plastic, but the brewing chamber works as advertised. I use #4 basket type paper coffee filters along w/ the felt pad filter the kit comes with. This keeps the grounds from clogging the pad and allows the coffee to drain much faster.

I came up w/ a 3 stage system that works very well. Use a full filter at the bottom, fill w. coffee and water, then place another filter on top of it (w/ a hole cut-out of the bottom of the filter approx the size of a half-dollar)then add more coffee & water. Add a third filter, w/ hole, and coffee and water. Most efficient way to drain and keeps the grounds (I recommend COARSE GRIND) from clogging the felt pad during draining.

I wasn''t sure what to expect after reading the variety of reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised!! My sister-in-law has one of the original Toddy Makers so that''s what I was looking for but after I saw the price, no way. I decided to take a chance and buy this brand of "toddy like maker". First of all, after reading the Ronco directions I knew I would be customizing my brewing method. I should point out that I wanted this to make lattes not to substitute my morning cup-o-joe. The biggest complaint in most of the reviews concerned grounds leaking through the filter. Ronco suggests using just ground coffee. Don''t do that, use a COARSE ground Espresso coffee. The Ronco also included 2 filters but they only fit inside the well where the stopper goes. On the Toddy brand the filter covers the entire bottom of the filter unit. So...I thought if there is a problem with leakage why not use both filters. I used both filters and the recommended paper coffee filter and that was all! I added my coarse ground Espresso coffee and poured in the recommended amount of cold water. I then let it set for 24 hours (yep, that''s what my sister-in-law does so I did too). When I pulled the stopper, the elixir dripped nicely into the plastic (yeah, I would prefer glass) container until it stopped dripping. I thought my coffee could do another batch so I added another 4 cups of cold water and let it set overnight, drained it and then I did it one more time. I''ve been enjoying my lattes ever since! I would say this toddy maker is excellent for the price. I would have given it 5 stars if it had a glass container but that is easily remedied.

Update! I''ve added a star to this toddy maker. It''s been two months since I purchased this product and I LOVE IT! The only change I made is to forget the paper filter! Using both of the (included) foamy like filters kept ALL the grounds out of the elixir. You can customize your brew according to how strong you prefer your lattes. I used almost one pound of coffee and I get 2 quarts of latte maker that I keep in a glass pitcher in my fridge. I just add milk and ice and it is perfect!! One batch lasts a long time since I use about 1/4 cup of the latte mix per drink. You can also enjoy an Espresso by heating and drinking it undiluted or you can make a cafe-au-lait that really comes close to what you would be served in Europe. Experiment & Enjoy!

I found this brewing system steeply discounted at a "close out" store, and I am so glad I picked it up. With little effort, I have two weeks'' worth of deliciously smooth coffee in the fridge. Cleaning up the brewer isn''t too bad, especially if you use multiple filters/coffee layers as someone else has suggested. I''ve tried cold brewing with many types of coffee, and for me, Dunkin'' Donuts Dark is hands down the best for this method.
