  • Extreme pH ranges from 2.0-12.0
  • Dual Filtration
  • "Forever Guarantee" Lifetime Warranty

I am in the silver carbon filter business. One of my customers purchased this UCE-9000 Turbo units. It worked fine for 3 days then stopped working. The company said it was the faucet so they sent her a new one and the old one was to be returned. I went back a few days later and installed the new one for her. The new faucet leaked from inside and the unit again would only run for about 3 seconds and then shut down. She returned the new faucet and the unit and we are now waiting for them to ship back the under counter unit.

Hope it works this time around.

This unit is very easy compared to other ion filters I have installed. I really like the design, automatic features and compactness of it.

This works perfectly in my Aprilaire 550. The price is excellent, and the service was outstanding. The heating and air conditioning repair person wanted almost $60 for the part and installation. It''s not difficult to do it yourself.

H2o Labs Convenient Easy-Fill Model 200 Water Distiller

H2o Labs Convenient Easy-Fill Model 200 Water DistillerI am writing on behalf of my wife Uthrania Seila. We have used this distiller for roughly a week with no complaints or problems to report. My wife is just delighted with it, probably because of the simplicity of operating the machine, and loves its attractive design on her counter.

The coil cooling fan is, like any fan, audible but not irritatingly loud. We doubt anyone can find a distiller of equal quality for the same price.

had it about a week now works Good

pros: easy to set up and use.

better tasting then tap

cons: water picks up the taste of the plastic bin its held in.

not sure why theirs a extra pin hole on the top of collection jug.

"I hope it lasts longer then the other comment suggested"

every 13 months get ready to buy a new one. they only last 13 months and the element wares out. depending on how much water you use in my case i make 3 gallons a day for 13 months and the thing just quit one day. 36 gallons is all i made before the unit has quit. $0.24 a gallon to use the machine plus power cost of 0.25 a gallon.

you might well say it cost you $0.49 a gallon. when you do the math of the whole ordeal i got robbed.

BIG Berkey Water View Sight Glass
  • Big Berkey Water View Sight Glass
  • Know how much water is in your Big Berkey

Ordered for one-day delivery and received in one day. Thank you.

But.

Sight glass wrapped in paper and zipped in Baggie. Ok. But in same shipping box with PF-4 heavy filters. With a single sheet of brown paper crumpled in shipping box to cushion between the two.

Arrived undamaged but buggers if I can figure out how it survived tumbling with the filters!

Also one black flexible washer ok and one rigid white plastic with green felt? On the other side not ok. Put black washer inside and plastic washer outside. Spigot leaked in a steady stream. Sigh.

Took white flexible cone washer from original spigot that came with Big Berkey and replaced the plastic one. Spigot now does not leak.

I suggest you take the white/green plastic washer that comes with the sight glass and bite it, hammer it, fling it, anything just anything but put it on your spigot assembly.

Sight glass is great and I feel essential to the Big Berkey. Except for that cursed plastic washer.

I ordered the Big Berkey and then added this. Unless you have xray vision this beats lifting the top off to see what''s going on in the bottom. The the threaded nipple is way too short for the money, the nut barely fits on and I can see the possibility of stripping the threads. The stock tap has a nipple almost 1/2" longer. The upside is it has seemingly a better valve with definitely a better flow rate. Two thumbs up there! Cheers, Al

I remember that with the original spigot, flow was slow because it was so small. This is way bigger, even when it''s the size specified for your particular Berkey (mine is the Big one). There are fewer issues with leakage than with the original spigot. Just be sure not to tighten the nut too much or too far along the bolt, because the washer will get completely squeezed out of place. I guess if I could offer advice, I''d say once contact is made, tighten until you see the washer move and then unscrew a couple turns until it''s back to normal (you have to overtighten a bit in order to see what''s correct). Also, the internal thread of this spigot is much, much shorter than the original, which worried me at first, but once everything is in place, just don''t worry. The plastic is strong, and the sight glass itself is made of steel and glass, very good quality.

So, flow is much faster and it''s convenient not to have to lift the top reservoir to check water levels in the bottom reservoir every few hours.

Interestingly, the top of the sight glass is open, so that if you have a full bottom reservoir, a little water spurts out the top of the glass. It only happened once when I plopped the top down too hard. (At the beginning I used to compare the sight glass reading with the actual water levels, but have since stopped disturbing everything to check.)

Another great Berkey investment. As I said in my review for the Big Berkey, it was the best $300 I''ve ever spent.

the item has a much shorter rear screw element than the regular spout and does not fit with a washer on both sides as needed. I don''t know how the other people got it to work, but it was leaky for me and had to return it. I don''t even think Berkey makes this??? Don''t get this...

Quality product, but they need to figure out the leaking issue. This has been a complaint about these for sometime, there has to be a Washer that stops leaks. How much money would it cost?

Primo 900116 Hot & Cold Bottled Water Dispenser

Primo 900116 Hot & Cold Bottled Water Dispenser With High Flow MechanismOur small office went through quite a few "budget" models (that shall not be named) before we stumbled upon Primo. We were skeptical at first because the price is so low compared to units of comparable feature-set. However, we called Primo directly and they said that they stood behind their product and would guarantee the quality. I can say, after using the product for 3 months that it is fantastic. It looks good, is solidly built, VERY quiet, and has all the features we wanted: cold and hot water, switches to turn the cold and hot water off (saves energy, drip tray etc.

The only "complaint" we might have is that the water isn''t ice cold and the hot water isn''t boiling hot. However, the water is quite cold and the hot water is hot enough to make herbal tea. Good enough.

This cooler has three different temperature settings hot, room temperature and cold, it looks great but leaks. We tried 3 different ones within 5 months, all the same.

Buy Primo 900116 Hot & Cold Bottled Water Dispenser Now

We love the Primo 900116 design. However, we give it three stars because there isn''t a big difference in the water temperatures. The room temp. button is very similar in temp. to the ice cold. Also, we have found that the hot water does not brew our hot tea very well. We were hoping to use the hot water for our nightly hot tea but its just not quite hot enough to brew the tea properly. We are back to the old fashioned tea pot which brews tea to perfection. We also find that when we flip the water bottle over it spills everywhere. This is frustrating. Not sure if we needed to purchase a Primo bottle or if we need to dig out the directions from deep in our files and read them over again. In any case, it does its job and we like its looks but for the price there are a few glitches that would make me think twice about purchasing this product again.

T-fal BF6520003 Vitesses 1.7-Liter 7-Cup Electric Kettle Save 47% Off

T-fal BF6520003 Vitesses 1.7-Liter 7-Cup Electric Kettle, WhiteI spent hours researching every electric kettle available (and looking at them in person, in stores) before settling on this one. I''ve owned it for about 6 months now, and it''s been great. The concealed heating element and the simple one-piece plastic jug design make it very easy to clean (not that I''ve needed to) and leak resistant (I assume, from a design perspective, since mine has no leaks yet). The only way it could leak is if the grommet sealing the metal bottom piece to the plastic jug developed a leak, whereas most of the stainless steel kettles being sold have several parts, many seams, and thus many places a leak could develop. There is some mild browning of the plastic inside the jug, I suppose a reaction to the high heat. This same thing happened with my roommate''s older plastic electric kettle, so it''s to be expected. People complain about plastic vs. stainless steel, I settled on plastic for one primary reason: it is a better insulator, so not only will it keep the water hotter for longer, it will be safer to handle in general (ie. it won''t burn you or a child if it is accidentally picked up by its sides while it contains hot water). People complain about plastic "leeching chemicals" into the water, I haven''t noticed any difference in taste, personally, and I doubt stainless steel would be much "safer" than plastic in this respect. The switch works great, and mine has never spilled water or over-boiled it (as long as it contains the minimum recommended amount of water). The spout and handle shapes make it easy to pour, and the locking top makes it pretty tough to spill. Definitely recommended, I''m buying another one for my parents right now.

PS While researching electric kettles, I frequently saw complaints of how kettles designed for use in the USA don''t heat water as fast as those in the UK. This is for a very simple reason: UK uses 240 volt power, USA uses 120 volts. Most electrical receptacles are rated for 15 amps (though the kitchen are often has at least two 20-amp circuits, per NEC recommendations). Watts = volts * amps, which means that UK kettles can get up to 240 volts * 15 amps = 3600 watts, while USA kettles can get up to 120 volts * 15 amps = 1800 watts. Manufacturers might sometimes avoid approaching this limit, perhaps due to safety or liability issues? Just note that this 1750 watt Tfal kettle is very close to the typical USA receptacle wattage rating. It''s just about as high as you''ll be able to get in the USA...most other USA electric kettles only go up to 1500 watts.

I got more than I expected. Which is good, because it seemed over priced when I bought it. But it was the only one I could find with a truly variable temp control. Now, I think the price was fair.

Pro''s

Variable temprature: This is why I picked this product. I wanted full control of the temp of the water.

Filtered spout: I don''t use it. Could be useful for keeping tea or any other particles in the pot while pouring.

Dock station: The pot is easily removed from doc, so there is no cord in the way when pouring.

Hidden Cord: Cord winds up inside the dock. Makes it easy to hide extra cord, if you have that luxury. See Cons :(.

Insulated: Keeps water hot for a long time.

Auto off: Turns of when it gets to temperature.

Cons

4ft cord: I could use 1 more foot :(.

Wish list:

Stay On Option: Keeping water at temperature would be a nice option. Rather than letting it slowly cool down.

Thermometer: Doesn''t tell you the actual temperature of the water. Not even an estimate on the temperature knob.

I can''t imagine anyone not loving this electric kettle. My first one was a gift, received about 5 years ago. It''s used numerous times every day and still brings water to a boil as fast as it did for that first cup of tea. The microwave and stove lose the race to the T-Fal. Once the water is at the boiling point for about 15 seconds the kettle turns off automatically. That safety feature rates high on my list of kudos for this product. The handle is extremely comfortable, the pot is easy to fill and pour. We always take our T-Fal Electric Kettle with us when we travel(we have a 4 cup version as well as a 7 cup...I''m sorry they no longer make the small one). I''ve only been able to find them on line but believe me I never want to be without one.

We''ve used this electric kettle about twice a day every day for over three and a half years. It''s still boiling (or, more often, not-quite-boiling) away!

The big attraction was the temperature control. Being able to set-and-forget for green tea was essential. Ignore the continuous orange arc over the dial: there are three distinct temperature settings: not-quite-boiled, boiled, and a hearty rolling boil suitable for strong black tea, pasta, and clearing drains. I''ve accidentally knocked the knob off a few times, but no matter I just pop it back on again in the appropriate position (it goes on only one way). At any rate, since we drink green tea and black tea, we use all three settings constantly so the switch itself gets a fair daily workout too and it''s held up well.

Another big attraction was the power of the thing. This electric kettle draws more power than most, but the result is a faster boil time. It can boil up a full load of water in about the time it takes me to set up the teapot. We have huge teapots, so we''re usually heating up a full 1.7 liters.

The plastic exterior does get hot to the touch, but the handle stays cool. Unfortunately, the interior is plastic except for the steel bottom, which encloses the heating element. That said, we''ve noticed no off tastes throughout its long life. Or maybe we''re just used to it by now. We''re past the age of worrying about birth defects, and as for harmful outgassing, well, we have two boys. You don''t know harmful outgassing until you''ve lived in a tent with two boys.

Actually, come to think of it and writing this review makes me remember this we really meant to return this kettle over 3-1/2 years ago because of the plastic interior, which was a deal-killer. But, we needed a kettle in the meantime. Like a mangy mutt that follows you home, this thing just settled into our kitchen and we never got around to kicking it out. For what it''s worth, it has lasted longer than two previous steel-interior kettles we''ve had, both of which fell victim to corrosion and leaked shorting out the whole device and, in one case, causing some small excitement in the process.

As for care, we might have cleaned it once or twice, probably when we were still thinking of returning it. In the past couple years, we''ve probably never cleaned it. (You: "Gross!" Us: *shrug*) We generally use filtered water in it, except when we''re boiling water to pour into slow drains or onto barbarian hordes.

I''d recommend it unreservedly if it wasn''t for that plastic interior, and I totally understand if that''s a deal-killer for you. But, for what it is a large capacity, plastic-interiored electric kettle with a temperature control it''s a five-star product.

I bought this electric kettle mostly for making coffee in my french press. However, I use it for much more. I never realized how much an electric kettle would help around the house. I now use it for the following... coffee, tea, cocoa, instant oatmeal, ramen, any cooking/baking that calls for boiled water, pre-boiling water for pasta, and even hot water for cleaning around the house.

Pros

-Heats water FAST! (1750 watts, as another poster listed, is just under the 1800 W US limit)

-Keeps the water hot for a good bit of time. (Put it this way, I make coffee, throw it in a thermos, and leave for work. When my wife wakes up 45 minutes later, it''s still plenty hot to make instant oatmeal)

-Cordless pouring/filling

-Adjustable temp (drinkable cocoa temp to full boil)

-I haven''t experienced any plastic taste that other commenter mentioned, even when allowing the water to cool as he/she mentioned. (Anyone who feels a need to mention their credentials in an online product review is usually over-critical or full of poo... in my humble opinion)

-Viewing window for filling/knowing how much water is left.

-Cheaper than most comparable kettles out there right now.

Cons

-Yes, the outside of the unit gets hot to the touch in some points, but I have yet to find a kettle that doesn''t.

-It does get a bit noisy, but that is just a byproduct of the water having to heat so fast.

I can''t imagine living without this thing, and when I finally wear it out, I hope the same model is still available, or I can find something similar. I honestly can''t think of anything I would want to change on this unit.

Old Friend Soft Sole Slipper

Unisex Soft Sole Bootie SlippersThese are the only male soft sole sheep lined slippers I could find. I have now bought 3 pairs over the past 2-3 years for gifts and all the recipients have loved them. They are perfect for lounging about the house. The last pair I ordered was via Amazon & I paid extra for them to arrive in time for Christmas which they did and I was very pleased.

My daughter gave me a pair of these 5 years ago for my birthday. We have a lot of sub-zero temperatures here and I have to admit I don''t just wear them indoors, sometimes I run out to get things from the car in the ice and snow and just slip these on rather than put on shoes. I love them so much I gave my brother a pair for his birthday. He sleeps in his and no longer has cold feet. I have worn mine almost every day and they''re finally in tatters and now I have to buy my own pair. Definitely going with the same ones. Worth every penny and more!

I live in freezing San Francisco (seriously--it''s cold here most of the year!) and work from home, so I wear my slippers almost all day every day, and these are so great. They''re comfy, warm and durable (I''ve worn through the shearling fluff under each of my big toes, but that seems unavoidable given how much I''ve worn them in the last six months). Plus, they make your feet look like giant baked potatoes, which is kind of cute. Another thing: I read reviews of various sheepskin slippers before settling on these (because of price and style) and noticed that a lot of people have had trouble with slippers getting smelly, which worried me. But I''ve encountered no such problem!

The comfort factor of these slippers is like no other pair I have owned. They are very soft, not too warm, and I love the soft sole. Despite the sheepskin my feet haven''t been sweaty even while wearing them in the 80s. I would have given a 5 star rating, except that after wearing just a few hours the first day the stitching started to come out of the top of the right slipper. I shouldn''t have to mend something less than a day old. I will see how they hold up in the long run.

I have been using the Rainshow''r product for almost 10 years now, changing out the filter once a year--and I can tell when it is time to replace the cartridge, my curly hair starts to become more unruly! I even installed one at a boyfriend''s house because prolonged visits resulted in diminished manageability of my hair. Same for long vacations.

This really speaks to how damaging chlorine is to hair. It''s also nice to not be breathing in chlorine fumes during a shower!!

Why did a buy this? First of all, just turn on the faucets in my home and your smell chlorine, the odor is extremely strong in our city water.

I have been looking for a filter for years for my shower, but honestly, I never knew what one to buy. This one was recommended by a Board-Certified Naturopath and Clinical Nutritionist. I read on their company website that Rainshow''r is one of the pioneers of shower filters, they have been making them for 20 years years... So I figured they must be pretty good. One thing you have to love about these filters is they are made in the United States, by Americans... Sadly, it is rare to see anything made in the USA today. It is nice to know by buying one of these your supporting American jobs and the national economy.

Here is my story:

I have been a swimmer for over 26 years. My skin has lived in chlorinated water for a very long time, it normally is always dry and my skin is often red. However, I really never realized how bad it was for a person to take a hot shower in a small room with the door closed, until taking a lot of science classes in school. Your standing in the hot shower and filling the room with hot poisonous gas, which in no way is good for humans. Then, while your taking a shower, your pores are open and exposed to all this nasty stuff, which is now getting into your skin. Of course, don''t forget either, your skin is your largest organ. The integumentary system (skin, hair, nails, sweat glands) is one of the first lines of defense and anything that is in the water is going to effect all of these areas.

Now, lets get this straight. Chlorine is used in water to kill all the nasty stuff in swimming pools and city water. This might be a good thing, but it is not something that should stay in the water. The reality is, chlorine makes your skin red, itchy, your hair dry and it is not good for adults or their kids... I have a regular water filter (if only it removed fluoride, but that is another subject[if you know of one, let me know]) but sometimes I forget that I needed to use a shower filter.

I purchased one of these first for my wife, just to see if she would like it. She noticed it made her skin much softer as well as her hair.

So for the past two weeks I have been taking a shower only at home. Later this week I decided to start using the gym shower instead of waiting to get home. I noticed as soon as I got out of the shower at the gym and looked into the mirror, my cheeks, would get really red and dry. While at home this stopped happening. I know now for a fact this is due to the shower removing the chlorine and have also noticed that the water seems much softer; like silk or something.

We now have 3 of these filters, one in each shower. I would strongly recommend this filter to anyone who is using city water and wants to improve their skin. Now, if your taking a bath, the company also makes a bathtub filter. I just don''t like the idea of having to wait 10-15 minutes with my hand in the water swirling a ball around to filter the water. Just turn on the shower and let the shower filter do its job and fill your tub that way.

I would recommend this to everyone. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made off Amazon. One thing to know, if you have children, this is a must have! Children have a weaker immune system than adults and it is important to be careful of the toxicities in water.

I spent a lot of time researching shower filters before deciding to try this one rather than one of the higher-priced ones, and I don''t regret it one bit! Although the Aquasana filters have recommendations all over Amazon-land, their main advantage over the Rainshow''r is the addition of a carbon filter. According to my research, carbon works fairly well for filtering drinking water, but doesn''t help at high temperatures or high volume applications like shower filters.

My wife and I really like this Rainshow''r. There is a very noticeable difference in how our skin and hair feel with this filter. Our skin is softer, not as itchy, and our hair feels more moisturized when using this filter.

For us, one filter lasted about 3 months. That''s with municipal water that has a rather (un)healthy dose of chlorine.

The only con I can think of is that there''s no indication of when it''s time to replace the filter. I think that''s how all shower filters are, though.

I''m here to order replacement filters, so it''s a keeper!

While the stand and crock combo are a good deal, the set up is not great if your spring water comes in glass bottles. Typically there is a plastic ring included with these kits, which fits over the rim of the crock and provides a cushion so your 5 gallon bottle is not resting directly on the ceramic lip. Without the ring, the glass bottle does not sit evenly on the crock. It works alright and does not leak, but it would fit more securely with the plastic ring. After talking to the distributor, it appears the ring was part of the package at one time and they decided to no longer include it most likely a cost cutting measure. I think water in glass bottles tastes so much better and if you have plastic, this will probably work fine for you.

We use it for coffee machines, for drinking water and cooking. It is so convenient now that you can purchase accessories like these filters on Amazon. With 20 years of history, we highly recommend.

lots of black dust , but works great, makes the water taste good, received in good condition says they last 60 to 80 gals. If they do that will be great. I really like the carton that they come in so you can write on the top and keep track of when it''s time to change the filter.

O-Ring Silicone Lubricant Save 62% Off

O-Ring Silicone Lubricant - 5.3 oz tubeThis product is surprisingly dense and sticky compared to my experience with silicone grease. It is probably well-suited as an O-ring lubricant, but even better as a solution for heavy weight-bearing applications where the lubricant must remain in place for repetitive motion. I should point out that Dow Corning does not call their product silicone lubricant either on the tube or on the box, nor do they specifically use the word "silicone" in the ingredients. They call it "Dow Corning Compound 111 Valve Lubricant and Sealant."

M. Block & Sons 05072 "Keurig" Water Filter Assembly & 2 Filter Refills

M. Block & Sons 05072 ''Keurig'' Water Filter Assembly & 2 Filter RefillsThis filter works with the Elite 40 I just purchased in Dec 2012. Not sure why it didn''t come with it but this fit.

After purchasing the Keurig Elite single cup coffee brewer, I discovered that it the water reservoir intake needed frequent cleaning as it would not brew cups of coffee effectively after a couple of days or so. The filter took care of this problem and with the use the brewer gets at home, I change filters once a month and never have problems.

So much faster and cheaper than buying bottled water. Just fill from tap and brew. Coffee tastes great, no bitterness. Definitely worth the money. Will be ordering refill filters here shortly, even though the starter (two) filters will last 6 months. Still, it is good to keep extra on hand so they''ll be handy when you need them.

Gaggia 90851 Platinum Swing Automatic Espresso Machine

Gaggia 90851 Platinum Swing Automatic Espresso Machine with Milk Island, Silver and BlackMy parents have had a Gaggia Titanium for several years. It has been going strong for 4+ years. I finally decided to make the switch from a Keurig to a superautomatic and so far I am glad I did.

The machine makes great espressos and the milk island is suprisingly useful. Setup didn''t take long. Just make sure to "activate" the water filter. There is a setting in the menu to activate the water filter. The machine will pump water through the steam wand and then you are good to go.

This machine is much quieter than the Titanium model and I like the design better. Small footprint for a superautomatic and nice modern display screen.

You have three drink programs espresso, coffee, and long coffee. You set how much water you want to brew in each cycle when you setup the machine and then choose one of the three when you want to brew. You can adjust the amount of coffee used in each cycle by using the bean button (mild, medium, and strong). You can also adjust how fast the water flows through the beans on the front of the dispenser.

I was surprised at how quickly the machine heats up. Within a minute of turning on it is ready to brew.

Things to know need to empty the drip tray often; need to use distilled water or a filter (filter comes with it); cup warmer is passive (swing up has an active); Gaggia and Saeco are owned by the same company and this model is really similar to some of the Saecos, but has, in my opinion, a better interface.

Downsides power button doesn''t feel to sturdy; have to buy more milk because my wife is drinking lots of lattes and cappacinos now.

Reliability remains to be seen.

I had a problem with the first machine I received. It didn''t work, and had to go back. The second machine worked but then gave me false error messages along the way. I sent that one back as well.

The machine looks better in the picture, but when you get it out of the box, it''s made almost entirely of plastic. Although there are settings to change the way it makes your coffee, I found all of them to do very little with the final cup. I came away thinking it was too much money for an automated machine that could break very easily. The coffee itself was fine, and the frothing was average (the Milk Island was a total waste of timeif you can''t hold up a pitcher to the steam nozzle, why bother having a cappuccino machine?)

Don''t buy an automatic espresso machine. Too much to go wrong for a very average cup of Joe. Do a little work with a semi-automatic and you''ll be much happier.

Buy Gaggia 90851 Platinum Swing Automatic Espresso Machine Now

I''ve had my Gaggia Platinum Swing for several years now. It''s been a minor nightmare.

The good: With some work and luck, you can get a very good shot of espresso.

The bad: This is one finicky machine. Sometimes it suffers a "Brew Failure" with no obvious reason and trying again succeeds but it''s just thrown out the coffee. Sometimes it fails completely because a water hose inside it is clogged (I''m guessing based on the pump noises) an air compressor can help with that, but this is a huge mess. REGULARLY the machine says it''s out of beans and needs more, even though the hopper is full and it''s not jammed at which point all you have to do is open the cover for 10 seconds and close it again so that it THINKS you refilled it but again it''s thrown out the beans it did grind by that point.

Service is useless. The best way to get maximum performance (which is still Italian-grade unreliable) is to clean it well beyond the manual, including inside the tube from the pre-ground input to the brewgroup.

And it''s now obsolete. You can''t get the Aqua Prima filters anymore. (Which are pricey anyhow.) So they''re selling a unit that they don''t even pretend to support. Which is a refreshing change from when they did pretend to support it.

Hunter 3.5 Gallon CareFree Plus Humidifier

Hunter 3.5 Gallon CareFree Plus Humidifier with PermaWick Filter, 34357We bought one of these Hunter humidifiers a few years ago. I liked the big tank, low-maintenance and no consumables (no wicks or filters to buy). The only problem was, as others have mentioned, that often when it switched off, a gallon or more of water would promptly dump onto my floor. I finally called Hunter to complain about it, and I have to say I''m incredibly impressed with their customer service, and with the simple fix (new design for the tray) which appears to fix the problem completely. This is now a very competent humidifier, and we''re really happy with it. You won''t see a cool plume of water vapor spewing from this unit, but it does work really well, and it''s very easy to keep clean (just throw parts of it in the dishwasher, and use vinegar and water to de-calcify the other parts).

For those who are shopping for a humidifier, you first have to decide what''s important to you. For me, the ultrasonic ones are a no-go because they spew white powder all over my room (mineral dust from our hard water). The hot steam ones are a no-go because they get all nasty from bacteria, fungi, etc. I don''t want to breathe that stuff in. And while the fan is far from silent, we actually like it at night, it''s a nice gentle drone that helps lull us to sleep.

Nice job, Hunter, on fixing the original design flaw, and on supporting the product so well.

I bought two of these Hunter humidifiers at the same time, and they did a good job of humidifying a 2000 square-foot house (1 upstairs; 1 downstairs). It seems like they operated non-stop during 4 very dry winters. Both units had similar problems during their 4-year lifetimes, but my issues weren''t specified in the manufacturer''s warranty so I never pursued replacement or repair. Since my cost-per-year (based on total purchase price) was $20/unit, I simply treated them as "disposables" and discarded them after the 4th year. This Fall I''ll decide whether to replace both with the same models or choose a competitor product.

This is not a "cool-mist" humidifier -it is an evaporative unit with a fan. The motor turns the fan and also drives a simple plastic impeller pump that circulates the water. There is a float connected to a power switch that will turn the unit off when the water level in the pan is low. My problems: both NiteGlow lights stopped working prior to the end of the 1st winter. I had assumed that the units would use a long-life LED, but that obviously wasn''t the case. During the 2nd winter, I had problems with one of the "float" systems, but was able to repair it myself. During the 3rd and 4th seasons, I had problems with the plastic fans rubbing the plastic case and causing noise especially on "Hi" speed. For their last year of use, I could only operate the units on "Lo" fan speed. The fans would still rub the cases intermittently, and it was very annoying in the middle of the night or while trying to watch TV.

On extremely dry days, the output capacity on "Hi" fan speed can truly be 3-1/2 gallons every 24 hours when the humidistat is on a high setting. Fortunately, the "Tote Away tank" is convenient to transport and easy to refill at a bathtub or deep kitchen sink. The fans were never "whisper-quiet" even from day-one, but you will tune them out as background noise after the first week of use. The digital humidistats worked fine until the 4th season when one died abruptly. They automatically turn the fan off when the pre-set humidity level is reached. For me, they sometimes stopped working temporarily after the units were cleaned, but they always started working again after the units had fully dried.

I always had trouble with buildup of minerals on the filter, pan, and chassis, but this is presumably the price one pays for not having paper filters? The water in the bottom pans of the units tended to concentrate our local pinkish "Serratia marcesens". This could probably be overcome with diligent (i.e. weekly) emptyings and cleanings. On Lo-speed, the water doesn''t seem to move fast enough to prevent mild stagnation in the bottom pan, and if you continue to use the unit once the ambient humidity naturally returns in the Spring then you may have trouble with moldy/musty smells since the water won''t be cycling very frequently.

The pan and filter frame do clean up easily by hand or in the dishwasher (after the PermaWick filter has been removed). I only had a single "overflow" onto the floor by one unit after 4 years of use. That should be physically impossible based on the design of the unit, so I don''t know what caused it. I suspect that I was responsible for it in some way. Nevertheless, had an entire 3+ gallons spilled onto the floor (upstairs!), it could have caused some major damage. If I use these units again in the future, I may set them inside some large plastic storage boxes (or an unused bathtub) as a secondary overflow prevention.

Positives: No paper filters! No white residues since the units are mist-less. The PermaWick filters lasted for 3 seasons, but they were inexpensive and easy to replace. The units are attractive in design, easy to use, and the non-moving parts (except for the nite-lite) are rugged. Ideally, the units should last for longer than 4 seasons, but at an average cost of approximately $20 per winter one can''t complain too loudly about the limited lifetime. If Hunter builds added quality into the unit, then the market price will undoubtedly increase to match.

This humidifier has been great to us so far. Easy to use. We''ve had no leaks or troubles. We also enjoy the ''white noise'' of the fan at night. The blue glow is neat, too. The first two years we used our very hard spring water. This will be the first year with softened water, so we''ll see how it goes.(I think a little hardness is necessary?) Much less messy than the cheap ones. The tank, when full, might be heavy for some to lug around, but the good thing is it has a handle and it won''t spill while you''re carrying it. I''d definitely recommend, and if I need another one, would go with the same one-even though it''s a little pricey in my opinion. I enjoy all its features too much to go without.

I''ve owned one of these for about 4 years and it continues to perform wonderfully. The water tank is easy to remove, fill and return to the humidifier. I have a humidistat in my house and the results were increased relative humitidy from 33% (very dry) to the recommended 42%. Big help for those with sinus and, or allergy issues. The "permafilter" will eventually have to be replaced but not until after several years of use (depending on the water supply).

It does work good but it is not large enough for a whole house, I should actually have 2 of these but the thing I love the most is that there are no paper filters to replace! The ones that have the replaceable filters really are the pits since the filters are expensive and don''t last long.

Danner 02663 Proline HY Drive 1600GPH Waterfall Pump Save 39% Off

Danner 02663 Proline HY Drive 1600GPH Waterfall PumpI absoutely love these pumps. I have bought many different pumps in the past for my ponds but the pondmaster pumps are the best. They use low watts which really save on electricity. If I build a pond for a client I make sure to use these pumps.

I''m also extremely satisified with petsolutions. I went through Amazon but petsolutions was the company that sent the pumps. Not only were the pumps cheaper than my local wholesale company but they delivered the pumps very quickly and they were packaged properly. I would use them again.

well, as advertised this pump does draw a low amount of energy which was my biggest concern next to performance. it moves a ton of water powerfully when the filter is clean but after two weeks the flow is reduced greatly, from a blasting fountain to a gurgling flow. it still moves water and keeps my pond clear at that flow. but the idea of maintaining a filter every month was bad enough, but every two weeks?

if you have a mucky pond and energy consumption isn''t a great concern a submersible pump may be better. still, aside from the maintenance i''m happy with the quality of this pump after 3 months of use. one other caveat. manufacturers web set lists this model with a 3 year warranty, but the box that arrived advertises a 2 year warranty. Hmmm?

Hario Paper Filter Misarashi for 02 Dripper 100sheets

Hario Paper Filter Misarashi for 02 Dripper 100sheetsI have used mellita brown filters for years, and always thought they were the best-until now! For the same price, these are clearly better, at least when used with a Hario filter holder. The latter are more expensive than the plastic mellita holders, but are made from ceramic, glass or resin(chapest) and are quite beautiful in both form and function. The filters fit these perfectly. I read about these filters in The New York Times, in a piece on the best coffee bars in town.

The filters are hard to find in shops, so i ordered them from Amazon. I brew one cup at a time, wet the grounds and wait about 30 seconds (for the coffee to "bloom" ie, release oils and gasses), and then add water slowly ih a spiral pattern to wet the grounds evenly. This is simpler than it sounds and takes about 2 minutes. The Hario instructions say to pour the water directiy down the center, but the spiral method makesa richer cup. Also remember to pour hot water through the filter, in the holder, first. This washes out all the filter dust that is a byproduct of the manufacturing process in any brand of paper filter ( "soaking").

The "nose" of this filter prevents breakage, and it works on the V60. Expensive, but purpose-built, marvelous coffee EVERYTIME...

I was a diehard Chemex user until I received a Hario V60 for Christmas (OK in all fairness, I had asked Santa for it). These filters are the best I''ve ever used. Absolutely zero paper taste, so the intended flavor of the coffee comes out after the care taken in roasting and brewing it.

And yes, wet the filter with hot water before adding your ground coffee :)

These filters work absolutely perfectly in the Hario V60 ceramic dripper. I love that they are stiff enough so they don''t crumple as you pour water over them. Also, they don''t impart any strange taste into the coffee. I''ll be ordering more of these when mine run out.

Want Hario Paper Filter Misarashi for 02 Dripper 100sheets Discount?

Excellent paper filters all around.

The "seam" is small and easily folds to one side to maintain roundness of the filter when placed in the Hario V60 dripper. The filter itself is also big enough that about 1/8" 1/4" is visible above the edge of the Hario V60 size 02 dripper.

I would purchase these again and recommend them to anyone with a Hario V60.
