L.B. Evans Men''s Preston

L.B. Evans Preston Men''s SlippersVery comfortable slipper. Very high instep and for those of us who have high arches, the top of the leather cuts into your arch.

Otherwise, a great purchase!

The soles of these shoes have center segments which are elevated and they consequently roll over to the outside. They are wearable now, but I predict a short life for them.

Culligan D-10A Level 1 Drinking Water Replacement Cartridge Carbon-Impregnated Cellulose 2 pack Save 3% Off

Culligan D-10A Level 1 Drinking Water Replacement Cartridge Carbon-Impregnated Cellulose 2 pack
  • 5-micron extra-fine sediment water filter
  • Reduces extra-fine dirt, sand, sediment, silt, rust particles, and scale particles
  • Reduces chlorine taste and odor, bad taste and odor, and sediment from your drinking water
  • Water filter life up to 3 months or 250 gallons.
  • Easy to install in under sink water filter systems

I recently installed three different water filters all together under my kitchen sink:1) Culligan D-10A Level 1 Drinking Water Replacement Cartridge Carbon-Impregnated Cellulose (2 filters for $10); 2) Pentek EP-10 Carbon Block Filter Cartridge (9-3/4" x 2-7/8"), 5 Micron ($12.50) & 3) KX MATRIKX Pb1, Extruded Carbon Block -0.5 micron Water Filter Cartridge, 06-250-125-975 ($17). I used 3 inexpensive Culligan water filters housings to plumb my system. I used a simple PVC water valve to adjust (slow) the water through my last 2 drinking water filters. My plumbing has the cold water at sink tap going through 1st filter: The Culligan''s Carbon-Impregnated Cellulose filter. ... Then that filtered water is plumbed to also feed my drinking water facet through 2 additonal filter housings which had in line the Pentek EP-10 (5 micron) carbon block filter, then the better KX MATRIKX Pb1 (0.5 micron) carbon block filter.

I tested the hot water & cold water at sink tap, and then my drinking water at separate drinking water tap with a TDS water quality tester (HM Digital TDS-4 Total Dissolved Solids Pocket Size Meter). I was surprised to find my TDS (total devolved solids) was slightly higher at my drinking water tap (which is channeled through 2 additional carbon block filters) than the cold water sink tap going through just the cheaper Culligan filter. I measured 125 TDS on hot water side of facet that has no filtering; 90 TDS at cold water sink facet going through just the Culligan cellulose filter; and 92 or 93 TDS at drinking water tap running through the two additional carbon block filters. This was after flushing the filters for the recommended 5 minuets (I likely did 10 minutes, then used setup for a week). I wondered why the TDS test results would be higher after going through the two additional carbon block filters??? Testing some more: When I took the Pentek EP-10 (5 micron) carbon block filter out of the 2nd postion housing and left that housing empty, ... I got the results I wanted to see. The TDS then measured at 87 at drinking water tap. That was 3 less TDS than the cold water sink tap) going through only the Culligan Carbon-Impregnated Cellulose Filter.

While I have not done further tests or tried a different Pentek EP-10 carbon block filter, I suspect the Pentek is below par and somehow added TDS to my drinking water setup. These test results were on filters that were all replaced about one week earlier. I believe the KX MATRIKX Pb1 (0.5 micron) filter is worth the extra money. The Culligan certainly does some good filtering of TDS too at a economical price, but the KX MATRIKX provided better tasting water. I would test these filters out more if I was getting paid for it. I won''t be buying the Pentek brand again unless they supply me with a new filter that gets better TDS test results. TDS tests might not represent the full picture.

I''m not a water filter user by choice, I grew up drinking unfiltered tap water, and haven''t ever cared to change. But when we bought our new house, it had an in-line filter installed. After six months, our water pressure dropped precipitously low and we realized that

A) We had a water filter

B) The filter needs to be changed

A little research turned up the D-10A, which appears to be exactly what we needed. Installation is simple: shut off the water valve under the sink, run the faucet until the water stops, and unscrew the filter holder (be careful not to tip it and spill the remaining water). Toss the old filter out, put the new one in, turn the water back on and let it run for about 20 minutes or so (to clean out the filter). You should be good to go from there. It certainly brought our water pressure back, though I admit that I don''t detect a huge change in the water''s taste.

I have to mark the dates of my filter installation to make sure I don''t forget to swap them out I''ve gone about six months without seeing the drop in water that caused us to realize we have a filter. This product is recommended if you have an in-line water filter.

Filtrete Water Pitcher WP02-WH-8 Save 33% Off

Filtrete Water Pitcher WP02-WH-8, 8 CupI have tried a number of water filtering systems, and encountered frustrations with all. I''ve had it delivered, but the bottles grew algae. I''ve Brita-ed but, when left out, the container grew algae, and when kept in the refrigerator, it took up too much space. I''ve used filtering systems on the tap water (still tastes funny) and through the refrigerator filter, which gets slow very quickly. So I was not expecting any miracles here.

And while it''s not a miracle, the Filtrete Water Pitcher WP02-WH-8, 8 Cup is pretty cool. Here''s why:

1. It actually fits in your refrigerator door. Oh, I know. Right now that''s jammed with pickle relish and maraschino cherries and a half jar of chutney and some Dijon mustard and lemon curd and a stick or two of butter. But trust me. Toss the pickle relish, which would grow mold if it could, and this baby will actually fit in the door.

2. It''s easy and fast to fill. Take the top off, set it in the sink, and run a slow stream of water over it while you get out the cat food or start to empty the dishwasher. It will sit there quietly filling. Turn the water off. No waiting. The water goes through the filter quickly. Put the lid back on and put it back in the refrigerator door (where the pickle relish used to be.)

3. It handles easily. It holds a decent amount of water (8 cups, to be precise). It''s not too heavy. You can fill your kettle or your espresso machine or pour some in your crockpot or your batter. Fresh water that you don''t have to beat out of the water filter.

4. The water tastes good. I''m not a big fan of water. I''m one of those people that does not thing it is delicious. But this tastes very pure and fresh.

5. The meter is easy to read. I''ve squinted at Britas. I''ve wrestled with refrigerator filters. This one is brightly colored and not too tiny. You can see when it reaches the halfway mark. You can see when it''s time to order a new filter.

I give it a full five stars. Now if you''ll excuse me, I need to go pick up some pickle relish.

This is an okay water pitcher IMO.

It''s from the Filtrete company who is more known heating/air conditioning filters.

It works just like a Brita filter, but the replacement filters are not as easy to find in your local store.

Buy Filtrete Water Pitcher WP02-WH-8 Now

I have been getting back on the program recently, losing some weight, and eating healthy. I bought Dr Fuhrman''s Eat for Health: Lose Weight, Keep It Off, Look Younger, Live Longer (2 book set) and have made major strides. One thing I remember from a long time ago was the Stillman water diet. In it I learned that if you drank 8 glasses of water per day, whatever else you did you would lose 1 pound per week just doing that. Of course if you are on a binge and gaining weight you wouldn''t lose a pound, but you would gain 7 lbs that week instead of 8. You get the idea, drink 8 glasses of water per day and make a one pound difference weekly in your weight. So in a year, that alone would be 52 pounds difference. So I decided the only way I would know if I am getting in my 8 glasses was to have a water pitcher in the fridge, and then along comes this Filtrete Water Pitcher in an 8 cup. Ok so onto the niceties about it.

This thing is slim. So it can fit on a shelf on the door, or it can take up very little space on one of the main shelves. It does filter the water, and it does so very efficiently. That part you see sitting inside of the pitcher is a water fill tub with a filter in it. So you pop the handy rectangular cover off thereby exposing the entire water trough making it easy to fill, and also into the future easy to clean if need be. The flow rate is great. There are 4 weep holes under the fill basin so all 4 are pouring filtered water through at the same time into the base fill container. So you can bring this over to the tap, set it at a moderately slow rate, and let it fill.

I have a Whirlpool refrigerator with water in the door that is filtered also but I have no way of knowing just how much water I drank that day. With this the guessing game is over. Also there are those in the medical community that prescribe no super cold fluids into your digestive system; it supposedly is not beneficial from a health standpoint. Of course even thinking about drinking room temperature water is out of the question. So I load up on the ice (which cost money to generate) and then pour the water into it. So here is another bonus; by keeping it in the refrigerator in this Filtrete pitcher you get cool refreshing water, but not so cold it is on the borderline of ice, and after your glass sits as you sip it, the temp moderates even more.

It looks good. It has a very appealing style. Kind of retro 2000. :-) If there is such a thing. In making a lightweight pitcher, they did not bury this in one inch thick plastic, so the comments about it being cheaply made are not wrong if you are looking for something to throw at the neighbor''s dog when it gets into your garden, but is of sufficient quality for cool water in the fridge purposes.

I can''t find anything wrong with it. I have had the top on and off several times, and it goes on without a whimper. The little pour cap that sits conveniently at the nose due to gravity is always ready to move out of the way when you want to make a pour. Of course buying replacement filters every month and a half goes with the territory. It says it gets rid of chlorine in the water. I have not done a scientific test to see how it compares to the Brita Pitcher systems, but I was thinking I may use the filtered water from the fridge door as a means to fill it, thereby giving me double filtration. All in all, no problems, good unit. If it gives me any reason to despair in the future, I will come back and edit this review. So far so good. Nice price, nice unit.

PS: Contrary to what I read from another reviewer, this pitcher fills up really fast. I did a spot check from empty and noticed the digital clock and it took less than two minutes but just under to fill it from the tap, so I decided to do a more exacting measurement of fill time. So I started the fill right at the begining of one minute, and at exaclty one minute and fifty-two seconds it was filled with filtered water right up to the top. You can easily fill this by turning on your tap gently, and matching the fill rate with the spigot flow, and then simply walk away. With my Brita pitchers it was always fill them up, wait until it filtered the first fill up, and then come back and refill the top tub as well. You always had to have the whole top segment of the pitcher empty that way, and that takes up more space. With the small tub on top, and simply matching the water flow is more efficient use of valuable fridge space. Mind you I think Brita pitchers are great too.

As advertised, this pitcher has an excellent "fridge friendly" size.

Others pointed out that 3M aren''t very specific what the filter, uh, filters. We get municipal water that''s clean and safe enough that it''s not much of a concern, it''s just nice to have the water taste a little better and the filter does that fine. Maybe I''m naive, but being a 3M product I have pretty good confidence in the filter.

The water runs through the filter quickly, as advertised, but the reservoir on top of the filter is pretty small, so filling the pitcher still ends up being a bit of a slow process as you can only add a little bit at a time (or have to put it under the tap with the water just running the speed of the filter). This is by far the biggest drawback.

Another reviewer had trouble with the lid not fitting on the pitcher -on ours that''s not a problem; everything is fitting together fine.

The filters are pretty expensive currently at almost $12; but maybe the price will come down when the product is more widely available?

*Update about 4 months later* We''ve grown quite fond of this pitcher; it has completely replaced our fridge water filter (electrolux/frigidaire). We can''t tell the difference between the fridge filter and this; but it''s much faster to pour a glass of water from this than from the fridge.

After some time of use the filter was sending water through faster and faster, so it got really fast to fill up. It was probably not filtering as well though, so recently we changed it for the first time (after about 4 months of regular use, probably fill it up twice a day. We were gone for a month so that''s about 180 fillings). With the new filter we''re back to the more sluggish filling speed, but it''s still way faster than a typical pitcher, it also looks nicer and we''ve gotten good at adjusting the faucet to just the right speed to fill it up while doing something else in the kitchen for a minute. I''d give it 4 stars except the filters seem so expensive (though $4/month is probably comparable in cost to our fridge filter).

The Filtrete Water Pitcher has plenty going for it. The water filters through quite quickly & the slim design saves an awful lot of space in our already crowded fridge, but it does get a bit top-heavy when it is full, so every so often there have been some spills. Handling the Filtrete when it is full takes just a bit of time to get used to. All-in-all, though, this is a fine product & very useful.

It gave us no sign that there was any trouble. I do not think that a Mr, Coffee will take the place this one left. It just seems to me that one should last more then 24 months. Making only one pot of coffee a day. It was a good price for the product, just not worth the time and trouble to replace one with another.

Paid too much for this at Lowes. Not entirely happy with the coffee it brewed. It worked for about three weeks and now it slowly brews approximatly half a pot and boils the rest of the water dry. Cleaning the machine with vinegar has made no difference in the brewing.

... and you will see this only filters out NSF 42. What does this mean? Here are the definitions of water filtration standards:

NSF/ANSI Standard 42: Drinking Water Treatment Units Aesthetic Effects

Overview: This standard covers point-of-use (POU) and point-of-entry (POE) systems designed to reduce specific aesthetic or non-health-related contaminants (chlorine, taste and odor, and particulates) that may be present in public or private drinking water.

NSF/ANSI Standard 53: Drinking Water Treatment Units Health Effects

Overview: Standard 53 addresses point-of-use (POU) and point-of-entry (POE) systems designed to reduce specific health-related contaminants, such as Cryptosporidium, Giardia, lead, volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), MTBE (methyl tertiary-butyl ether), that may be present in public or private drinking water.

Basically, this does not filter out the most dangerous eliminates of drinking water including Cryptosporidium, Giardia, lead, volatile organic chemicals (VOCs), MTBE (methyl tertiary-butyl ether. No wonder it lasts a lifetime. Think about it.

I actually purchased this for half the price at one of the shopping chanels (hint hint). Same exact one I kid you not!! Anywho, water tastes...well clean and pure! I am so happy I dont have to worry about replacement filters for a looong time! I had just purchased the PUR brand and it just doesnt tast as good as with this filter and supposedly it cleans out more particules, this just makes me question wether or not any water filter companies are being truthful?? I just need to trust my instinct and in this case taste buds...the proof is in the pudding.

I have used many water filters. The last three have been the PUR 3-Stage Vertical Faucet filter, the piece that is supplied to attach to the faucet is junk-junk. I feel cheated and angry for paying for something that has ended up in the landfill.

This unit sits out of the way without interfering with the faucet. It also makes it easy to fill water pitcher. The best part is that you dont have to change the filter every two three months.

This thing was a bite to install. The metal locking ring popped out and I was fortunate enough to finally manage to get it put back in place. It was also necessary to use the square-profile washer rather than the standard round one. After finally getting it installed, it works fine with no leaks. The water tasted strange for a while because I was used to the chemical tang from the city water, but now it tastes great. And I''m happy not to have to play with replacing filters. I did a calculation and, at a half gallon a day, this thing should last me the rest of my life . . . Recommended, but only if you are handy with tools ;-)

Bought two, the housing is made of soft plastic that snaps together but comes apart easily, I ended up using twist ties to hold it together.

The ball hangs under the tap and water splashes over it, unlike other filters, there is no way to ensure that all of the water is filtered

I bought it as a cheap alternative to an in line filter and got exactly that, a cheap and less affective alternative.

I was very hesitant to get this, to be honest, and after having trouble getting the special VOC (Volitile Organic Compound) filter to be recognized by the system, I called Zuvo. They were very helpful and discovered that the system I received was faulty. They quickly sent me a replacement system that came with a pre-paid return label. I fitted the replacement system in place, and it has been going great guns ever since.

I''ve tried several filtration systems over the years and needed a replacement after my Whirlpool system started leaking, so I did some research. There ARE filtration systems that filter out more than the Zuvo; however, the other systems even filter out the helpful things and to what avail? I''ve had my water tested and other it''s actually not bad; however, there are some VOC''s and we have had outbreaks of various pathogens since it was switched to ground water. The UV light helps keep the pathogens at bay and the filter and the ozination keep the water tasting fresh and clear. The added bonus of the attractive tap and easy installation all made this system worthwhile.

The ONLY thing I''ve not liked about this otherwise excellent solution, is that the tap sometimes drips after use for a while and that the water comes out a little slower than some other systems I''ve used and sputters a bit rather than a steady stream....but, nothing of any concern.

The pipe fittings are very well designed, I had the entire system installed and running in minutes with zero leaks.

Nice job, Zuvo.

StadlerForm/Nodorsil Oskar Humidifier

OSKAR Humidifier - WhiteI must be crazy for giving three stars. Here is a brief history of my experience with Oskar Humidifier:

FIRST UNIT. Works fine for one month, then the "no water" light came on even when the unit is filled. (Memo: Do not order from "Wizard Electroland." Seller refuses to reimburse shipping even though the item is defective. Amazon kindly intervenes.)

SECOND UNIT. Order from Amazon. Happy to have my brand new humidifier. Fill gently with water to the exact specified point. Turn "on." Item does not turn on. IT DOES NOT TURN ON.

THIRD UNIT. Order from Amazon. Kind of happy to have my brand new humidifier. It works fine for three days. Then last night at 5 a.m. it wakes me up with a tisk, tisk, tisk, risk sound. Sound mysteriously disappears; I fall back asleep and have bad dreams about humidifiers.

I also must be crazy for ordering three of these, but here is why: It is nearly impossible to find a non-ultrasonic humidifier. The design and size are perfect for my apartment. Cleaning and refilling (the most onerous parts of humidifying) are easy. It is made by a Swiss company (used to mean something) and they have very good customer service. (I contacted them for more detailed cleaning instructions than the manual provides.)

I don''t know what else to say. In theory it is the perfect humidifier, but order at your own risk.

We''ve tried a number of different humdifiers for our daughter''s room. Most of them are loud, spew white dust (hard water here), are difficult to fill, and don''t automatically shut off.

The Oskar, while more expensive than many others, addresses all of those concerns.

Pro''s

-It''s amazingly quiet

-You can fill it without taking it apart

-You can turn down the blue LEDs

-Doesn''t fill the room with white dust

-Unlike another reviewer, I thought it was pretty easy to see the fill line (but that could be my room''s lighting)

-Stylish!

Cons

-Spendy

-It''s lightweight plastic, which isn''t immediately apparent from the pictures. Not a major con, but I though it would be more substantial.

Overall, it''s amazing. So much so that I bought another one today.

Buy StadlerForm/Nodorsil Oskar Humidifier Now

I can''t think of any product I''ve been more disappointed in that I''ve purchased from Amazon. This humidifier is all aesthetics and zero quality. For $150 you''d expect a certain amount of build quality from a humidifier, not cheap flimsy plastic that feels like the slightest stress could break it. The design of the humidifier makes it very easy to spill water if you bump into it, there''s nothing keeping the water in the reservoir other than gravity. Most disappointing, the blue LEDs are slowly dying one at a time... I''m down to 3 left, soon I''ll have no idea what fan speed or humidity level I have selected. I''ve noticed that the slightest bump can fool this thing into thinking it''s out of water, which is a bad thing if you have kids or pets in the house since it will automatically shut off when empty. You could easily pick up a humidified for 1/3 the price that will do the exact same job. I may as well have burned a $100 bill... DO NOT waste your money on this one, anything is better than this.

So far, I like this humidifier. I have two. The other is an Air-O-Swiss U650. The OSKAR is very quiet (though the Air-O-Swiss is, too), and since it is evaporative, there is no mist and no white dust (which the Air-O-Swiss does produce). The OSKAR emits cool air, which does seem to cool the environment a tiny bit, but that''s not a big deal. I did, however, read somewhere that heating may do a better job of killing bacteria. Anyway, the OSKAR does a great job of reaching the targeted humidity level. My only complaints are that its features aren''t that helpful there are only a few buttons, it doesn''t tell you the current humidity level (the Air-O-Swiss does), and you have to remember what one bar, two bars, three bars, etc. mean (each one corresponds to a specific target humidity level). Lastly, one thing I really don''t like is that it''s very difficult to see inside the unit and to tell how much to fill it with water. It says to fill it to the top of the stick, but squinting and looking inside, it''s hard for me to tell when I''ve reached that point, and I''ve overfilled it, which leads to flooding. However, I do like the fact that you can fill it without having to remove a big tank and carry it to the kitchen sink (which you do have to do with the Air-O-Swiss it spills water as I am walking, so it creates a mess). You can put water in the OSKAR without even moving it. Overall, it''s light on functionality but looks nice and does a good job.

(This review is posted for both the Aprilaire 600M and 600A units in order to contrast them and to describe their similar functions.)

The Aprilaire folks say the "important considerations in the evaluation of a humidifier are precise control, sufficient capacity, trouble-free performance and minimum maintenance." I would add cost, ease of operation, and ease of installation. My sense is that this unit gets high marks in all of these areas.

The Aprilaire 600 humidifier operates in conjunction with your heating system to add moisture to your air. It is called a bypass humidifier because some air leaving your furnace is rerouted to bypass your ventilation system and instead run through the humidifier, absorbing moisture through evaporation, before returning to your furnace and on into your home. (The bypass is accomplished as a function of the higher air pressure in the supply leaving your furnace than in the return air going into your furnace.)

Generally, a hole is cut into your supply plenum (through which heated air leaves your furnace and goes into your home) and a bypass duct is run into the humidifier, which is mounted on the return plenum (which feeds air from your home into the furnace). Within the humidifier is a pad, which holds water like a sponge. As the heated air from the supply is bypassed through the humidifier, it picks up evaporated moisture and is run back into the furnace for distribution into your home.

A hygrostat (humidifier control – set manually on the 600M and automatically on the 600A) monitors the humidity in the air and controls a valve to release (or shut off) water running through the humidifier. It is generally mounted on the return plenum from which it measures the relative humidity (RH) in your air.

Water running through is a key point here, since when the valve is open, water not only soaks the evaporating pad, but excess water runs through a hose into your drain. I don''t know how much water is simply – literally – poured down the drain, but it doesn''t feel good to watch it go. This leads to your first decision – hooking your humidifier to the hot water or the cold water supply. The hot water humidifies your house more quickly, as it is easier to evaporate, but of course the waste is much more expensive (and it''s not good for the environment to heat water only to run it down the drain).

When the hygrostat determines it is time to run the humidifier, it generally waits for the furnace to come on and send it a signal from the control board (in most modern units). However, you can also install the humidifier to run when the fan is on without the heat (you''ll need to use the hot water for this). Finally, you can install it so the hygrostat signals the fan to run so that it can humidify your dry house automatically.

Automatic v. manual control?

It is highly recommended by the manufacturer to keep the humidity low enough in your house to prevent moisture from condensing (or frosting) on your windows, which could cause rot and mildew. The condensation point is a function of the humidity in your house and the temperature of the inside surface of your windows. This is a function of the thickness of your window glass and the temperature outside.

The automatic hygrostat (600A) measures the temperature outside your home to drop the humidity when the temperature falls. However, it takes up to three days to make a significant change in your home''s humidity, and the hygrostat can''t know what the temperature is going to be over the next three days. The automatic control of the 600A is a bit more expensive, is harder to install, offers more possibilities for malfunctions, and doesn''t fully do what you want it to know the temperature in the future. Still, you''d have to have more discipline than I have to keep up with the weather forecast and run to the basement every day to manually adjust the unit. Although I chose the manual version based on the recommendations of two plumbers – one on YouTube and the one who installed my unit – I believe I would now select the automatic one.

Installation was done quickly by a professional for $240 plus $30 in supplies. I was quoted prices up to $500, so be sure to shop around. The work is simple, if you know how to do it, and most plumbers have installed many of these.

The maintenance seems simple – replace the pad annually (about $15), shut off the air bypass valve and the water valve in the spring. I suppose you should also check the water flow through the little orifices and stuff, but I imagine I''ll forget that until the system doesn''t seem to work properly.

Overall, I am very happy with this unit.

I installed the 600M to replace a 400M hooked into my Harman PF 100 pellet furnace. The 400M just didn''t put out enough humidity. Installing the 600M was very straight forward. The wiring was easy and the humidifier starts running with the blower on the furnace. There is so much more water being pumpled into the system now and the humidity levels are much easier to adjust. This is just the manual version, which is what I needed for my pellet furnace.

Price for the unit was amazing and shipping was very quick.

I wish I would have bought one of these years ago. Works great, my skin feels alot better. Plus I don''t wake up in the mornings with a dry mouth.

This is a pretty great humidifier. Instead of doing just one room, it will work for your whole house, which is pretty amazing. Its priced well, and it actually works. The only drawback to it, is that it is a manual controlled humidifier. It is easy to use and efficient. It also has an open and closed damper for different seasons, so it is guaranteed to get the job done. However, if you want one that is digitally controlled, there is one that is the exact name, it just operates digitally compared to manually which comes in handy a lot. It is an Aprilaire Model 400 automatic whole house drainless bypass humidifier with digital control. Its only a little bit more in price but I would reccomend the digital over the manual any day.

My wife and I can already tell there is significantly more moisture in the air.

Installation was slow only to make sure I was doing it right.

Who wants to make a mistake when cutting into the sheetmetal?

After the installation was complete the first test revealed the setting on the separate control feature could not be maxed out.

The setting had to be dropped down to a point where the water turned off when the furnance was off.

I have opened up the unit several times to make sure the air was moving over the filter and the water was cascading correctly.

I am really happy with this unit and the results I have seen and experienced.

BISSELL 32-Oz. 2X Ultra-Concentrated Pet Stain and Odor Formula 74R7 Portable Machine Save 48% Off

BISSELL 32-Oz. 2X Ultra-Concentrated Pet Stain and Odor Formula 74R7 Portable MachineWe have only used this concentrated solution with our Bissell Spotbot Pet. Since the formula container for the Spotbot has markings on the side that tell how much formula to add, and we didn''t know a non-concentrated formula had ever been available, we were using twice as much (or more) formula as was needed. This meant we ran out of formula quite quickly! I just finally read the back of the bottle (duh!) and found that you''re supposed to add two capfuls to the container and fill with hot water up to the formula line. Oops!

So, if you use the concentrated formula, be sure you read the instructions first! While the formula works well, it has a very strong (though pleasant) odor, which might give a sensitive person an allergic reaction. I''d recommend using this product with the windows open for your first time in case that happens to you.

Not sure if the 2x concentrate has Scotchguard like the non-concentrated, but carpet stays clean after numerous vacuuming. Used to cost 11.99 at Amazon for this 32 oz. bottle. Can buy the non-concentrated 128 oz. bottle at Walmart for 19.99.

Very good product but Target has the 32 oz. bottle for $9.99 and you don''t have to pay shipping. I have 3 cats, one of which is old and has bad kidneys, and having the Pet SpotBot and cleaner are a lifesaver. So easy to use, esp. for small spots.

This seemed to remove dog urine smell, and works just as well as the non-concentrated formula.

This is a new "2x" concentrate of the Bissell pet stain formula. It works as it should, which is excellent! You won''t find a better product combination for cleaning pet stains than a Bissell Spotbot fueled by Bissell Pet Stain formula.

That said, the 2x cencentrate costs the same as THREE bottles of the old formula. This is an outrageous increase in price.

Zojirushi ADC-05 Electric Dispensing Pot Cleaner 1 Oz. Save 79% Off

Zojirushi ADC-05 Electric Dispensing Pot Cleaner 1 Oz.(28 gr.)This product is almost 100% Citric acid, however for the same price here on Amazon you can buy almost 10 times as much if you buy food grade (Citric acid is used for lots of things including cooking.)

Two tablespoons are about the right amount for each cleaning cycle.

Citric Acid 1 lb., (Frontier)

Citric Acid, priced per pound

Citric Acid 4 Lb tub

Citric Acid (Lemon Salt) 5 Pounds Bulk

Citric Acid 1 Lb tub

On the other hand, white vinegar dissolves all the lime, scale, etc. It''s cheap, easy, just a little stinky and takes a little longer.

This is how we''ve been cleaning our Zojirushi electric pots for the past 20 years.

1) Heat up the vinegar to ~150f or so (in the dispensing pot or separately) then pour in. I use a 4 cup pyrex cup in the microwave.

1.5 (Optional)I add a large mason jar in the middle to displace the vinegar so I get a higher level with less vinegar (Think of how sitting in a bathtub causes the water to rise)

2) Leave overnight

3) Rinse out thoroughly. We save the vinegar for use over and over.

If you''ve found this review helpful, please let me know!

I''d tried vinegar to clean my zojirushi 3 qt device. It didn''t work too well.

But this stuff is great!! It only takes about 20 minutes and all that nasty junk on the bottom of the water tank comes off. (I did have to rinse the inside of the device once to get the stuff that had come off the sides, but didn''t dissolve enough to go out through the dispenser.)

Make sure you order enough for the size of your dispenser. 3 qts needs 3 packets.

Update 7/16/08 -I think the quantity of cleaner you need also depends on your water quality. For some people, one envelope will work. I tried one the first time I tried to clean the machine. It worked some, but wasn''t enough to finish the job. I need three -we have extremely hard water. $6 every 6 months is worth the time I''d spend chiselling the interior out.

I would recommend it to everyone who uses the hot water dispenser. It''s very easy to use. Even if you don''t see any scald build up, give it a try and you will not believe what is there. You will need one package per one liter size of pot. I only has the stubborn scald at the bottom of the pot so I figure I can put one liter of water just to cover the problem area and only use one package of powder. After the cleansing process is done, the bottom of the pot is cleaned just like the first day I got them. I then spot the ring where the water level was and realized how dirty the rest of the pot actually is. Invisible scald, I would call them. Anyway, I ended up using the rest of cleansing powder for the second cleansing batch. I''m using the pot to boil water for the baby formular. It''s important that it''s kept clean. This product delivers the result I hope for.

worked on my zojirushi hot water dispenser like a charm. After about one year of use, my zojirushi electric water dispenser was covered by hard calcified deposits. I tried to scrub it off, but it was so calcified nothing would come off. Then I got these, and I couldn''t be happier with how easy and effective this product is, all it took was 15 minutes, and it disolved the deposits without harming my electric pot.

I''ve had my Zojirushi hot water pot for many years. I''ve rinsed and tried to clean it periodically but over time the hard water residue and scaling really built up to a disgusting level.

My boyfriend got these powdered packs for me to try, I was a bit skeptical that they could do too much. But I followed the instructions written on the package and was amazed when my hot water pot came out clean as can be! It looks practically new again on the inside and I couldn''t be happier. I highly recommend this product for anyone who owns a hot water pot and I will be ordering more for the next time I need to clean mine again.

I''ve run this coffee maker without a filter and it makes a WORLD of difference with one. Definitely worth the money.

Kind of funny, but I hadn''t realized my coffeemaker had a water filter until I followed the directions for cleaning and descaling. When I took it out, the original filter that came with the coffeemaker was discolored and grey, so I knew it should be changed.

After finding the part number, searching the Internet provided a link to Amazon. This was exactly the part I needed, with KitchenAid packaging (not a "replacement" part), and this price was the best I found.

This filter is actually optional, but, according to the coffeemaker directions the "advanced ion-exchange water filter reduces chlorine and other contaminants which impair coffee flavor." It also "softens the water, which extends the time between descalings."

According to the directions, this filter lasts for approximately 25 gallons of water. To make the best coffee, and at this price, I recommend the filter.
