I was disappointed when my local home improvement store stopped carrying my replacement filter for my Moen faucet. I searched online and found they changed the filter product number and found it at Amazon.com for the same price I always paid at the store. Another reviewer said it didn''t work with his faucet, which is the same kind I have, but I took the chance and ordered it anyway. It works perfectly! Don''t let the change in the product''s number worry you!

We have a Moen Model F87424 Single handle filtering faucet and this is the 2nd replacement filter I have bought from Amazon.com. Both replacements have been the Moen 9601. The installation is easy breezy and they do last 6 months before the LED starts flashing almost to the day!! No leaks, drips or errors. I highly recommend this replacement filter for the Moen F87424. For that matter I highly recommend the Moen F87424 faucet. It is so nice to have no bulky filter on the faucet and have clean filtered water available right from the faucet.

We have " Moen " Wickstone CAF87254 kitchen faucet with the filtered water spout build into the regular faucet on a separate waterline . The filter has a 750 Gal. filter live or 6 months in the instructions . We love this faucet and the great tasting water produces . However like clockwork this filter light comes on 6 months to the date . I figured out that we only used about 300 Gal. of drinking water . The drinking water spigot is on the right side of the main faucet,so is the little red light and it has nothing to do with the main faucet. So what I do is take the round battery located by the filter (I think its a 2032 type) out for a few sec''s and put back in . Therefore resetting the light . Good for another 6 months , then I change the filter after a year . Even after one year the water tastes as good as after the filter change .

Watts Premier Uf3 3-stage Ultra Filtration System

Watts Premier Uf3 3-stage Ultra Filtration System Includes 12 Month Supply of FiltersThis water filter is very easy to set up and use. The faucet looks and works very well. I have had reverse osmosis systems before and have loved them but the maintenance was difficult. The water from this filter is almost (very close) to the same water I got from the reverse filter and this one is a lot easier to do maintenance, pop of the old filter and stick in the new. Easier done than said in this case.

Receive the package in good condition.

The manual is a little hard to understand. Anyway, manage to get a plumber to fix it for me, so not much issue here.

The water taste a little bit on the sweet side and actually taste great and quite refreshing. The faucet is also very nice.

Wonderful product and cheaper than other similiar product.

cheers...

Filterless Silent Air Purifier - 450 Sq Feet Save 4% Off

Filterless Silent Air Purifier - 450 Sq FeetI''ve owned this product for a couple of years now. I like it quite a bit, and I''m considering getting another one for the living room. It''s true that it takes a long time for the air to get completely cleaned out because it works slowly, but it''s silent, efficient, and small. I don''t mind the slowness. I only mind the extra heat in the summer, but it''s OK. The instructions state it gives off about as much heat as another body in the room, which seems to be true if it were a small body. I recommend it for anyone who wants a not too expensive purifier.

This machine successfully removed the aspergillis mold from my room. I have serious lung disease and am highly allergic to mold i did a mold test before and after having it in place for 1 weekand it worked wondersmold was gone! i haven''t even explored what other benefits it has, ie smells etci''m so happy with this result.

Waterwise 4000 Water Distiller Purifier Save 24% Off

Waterwise 4000 Water Distiller PurifierI have had a Waterwise 4000 distiller for over 3 years now and it has been wonderful. With regular cleaning it runs 1-2 gallons per day without a hitch. I have found the company easy to contact and work with when I have questions.

I bought this distiller from another website a few months ago because of the great discounted price I got but this distiller had turned out to be a major headache. I hate posting this kind of a review because it does distill water pretty well but my major issue with this product is a design flaw. Specifically the filter. It leaks like crazy and nothing that I''ve done has resolved this. Sure waterwise got back to me quickly with their standard response, which was to run a cup of water through the filter to rinse out excess charcoal then boil for 5 minutes and let cool. Finally, rinse briefly with more distilled water. Sounds easy, right? Wrong. I just installed my 4th filter yesterday and was so excited because my first gallon distilled perfectly with no spillage or filter leaks. Second gallon was not so good. I started it about two o''clock in the morning and by 2:30 it had started distilling. I walked over to the distiller and this time the water was pouring out of the side of the filter. I was forced to wrap a rag around the base of the bottle to absorb the excess water and this is frustrating. I don''t like wasting water and clearly the problem lies in the fact that water is distilled faster than the filter can process it initially which results in a leaking filter. Now, as I mentioned in my title, the Pure Water Inc. water distiller does not have this same flaw, is stainless steel and is Made in the USA. Only the waterwise 8000 is Made in the USA. This one is Made in China! So, if I had to do this all over again I would buy the Pure Water Inc over this one anyday. In fact, I''ll be buying one within the next month and putting this one into storage. I''d sell it on ebay but I wouldn''t wish this headache on anyone.

Lastly, on the plus side, the water that is distilled does taste great! However, I can''t recommend this product because of the constant problems I''ve had with this item and the fact that there is no solution to resolve it.

Update: I received a correspondence from Waterwise and they were very kind in their message to me. They mentioned that sometimes the filters are over packed with charcoal and this may present a problem with water not flowing through the filter correctly. I have trying their recommendation of poking a few small holds in the paper that separates the plastic cover from the charcoal. I used a pin, as they suggested. Also, they have offered to send me a six pack of filters as a replacement if I am still having problems. That''s pretty good customer service if you ask me. Still, the filter design needs some work. Watch for an update after I process another three to four gallons after poking holds in the filter.

Update 2: Ok, I think I''ve figured out the correct amount of charcoal to remove from a new filter. I''ve been playing with different amounts and it seems like the correct amount to remove is 1/2 tsp. When you first go to replace the filter first remove the mesh screen sitting on top of the filter. It will pop out if you insert a thin knife at the back of the screen and then pry it up. Then remove the paper cover and finally remove 1/2 tsp of charcoal. Replace the paper cover then the screen and make sure it snaps back into place. After this proceed with pouring one to two cups of distilled water through the filter followed by boiling the filter for five minutes. Removing 1/2 tsp of the charcoal before aeration seems to take care of the problem with the leaking filter. If you have this same problem and keep beating the walls because your filter is leaking then try removing a little more. I suspect you can remove up to a teaspoon without it making a difference. So far though my waterwise is working perfectly. However, as stated in title of my review, my next distiller will be a Pure Water Inc. distiller. The Mini II can be purchased on the web at a discount or you can even message the folks at pure water inc. and they will offer you a substantial discount if there isn''t a store in your area that carries it. Also, Pure Water Inc. Machines are all Made in the USA. That''s another good reason to buy one. Oh, and the glass bottles for the Mini II are only about $20 if you want to purchase a second one. That''s a significant difference from the Made in China glass bottle for this machine that sells for around $54 here on amazon.

Update 3 (final comments)

After contacting Waterwise about the issues with their filter dripping they promptly sent me out a pack of filters for free. The first thing I noticed when I took one of the filters out is that the mesh top has been redesigned. Clearly the realised the last screen was a poor design and changed it. It works much better now. The new screen is plastic, instead of metal mesh, and the sections are larger, which allows for more water to drip down through the filter. So far the filters are nice and I''ve had no problems. I have started purchasing activated charcoal from a local aquarium store. It just makes sense to refill them myself. Eventually, I''ll have to replace the paper that sits between the cover and the screen. I''m sure the aquarium store can tell me what kind of paper will work for this purpose. So, I bumped up the number of stars to 4 but this unit will never get a 5. There''s too much plastic that my water comes in contact with. If you want a good, inexpensive distiller that will make produce quality water then look no further than a waterwise 4000. However, if you have additional concerns about your water making contact with plastic, like me, then go with a Pure Water Inc. distiller. All of their distillers are Made in the USA and your water only makes contact with stainless steel.

This one works well except for a buzzing noise that it makes when is has warmed up. I have to run it out in the garage.

I''ve had it for a couple of years now. The thermostatic switch is beginning to go wacky. The unit will turn itself on again after all the water has been boiled away. Could be a fire hazard. I would give only one star now.

Purchased this product about a month ago and we LOVE it! We make a gallon of fresh, clean water every night. It tastes great! Now that we are used to tasting clean distilled water, we don''t like the weird flavors in tap water.

I wash the stainless steel container every morning with white vinegar. There is a little filter that needs to be changed every couple of months, and an extra one is supplied with your order.

The unit is sturdy and well made with a nice simple design. The only complaint we have is that it is tricky to pour from the glass jug without spilling a little.

Note that you''ll need to plug the unit into an outlet with GFCI circuit breakers, like those in most kitchens and bathrooms.

Highly recommended!!!

Culligan D-250A Level 4 Sediment Replacement Cartridge Set 2-pack Save 28% Off

  • Recommended for use with city and well water supplies
  • 500 gallon capacity or 6 months
  • NSF Certified

I received this filter set that is advertised as a Level 4 filter in the Amazon ad. However, the set I received, which looks very much the same as the set I usually buy at Orchard Supply or Home Depot, has some notable omissions. The label on the set I buy from OSH for instance, says in large letters: Made In USA; this set says, in very small type that the filters are made from parts from foreign countries and assembled in the US. The OSH set says Level 4 in large type in the lower left corner. This set has no Level 4 designation on the label at all. The OSH set has a long list of things that the filter reduces; this set has no list at all. The words Premium Filtration are written on the OSH set, and not on this set. The NSF International filter certification label is not on this set either, and is prominently displayed on the OSH set rather disturbing really.

Because of these omissions, which lead me to believe that the filter set has been downgraded some way from the sets I''ve been buying around here for years, I returned it unopened for a refund.

My feeling is that a manufacturer of important items like water filters should be required to, and be happy to, list on the label what the filters are capable of, if they indeed have those capabilities, and should not allow what appear to be some kinds of lower level filters to be sold under the same product number.

I''ve done some more checking on these filters, and went to an OSH Store locally, where I had purchased this filter set previously, and discovered that the set they sell is exactly like the above set from Amazon same label, same packaging. So, I assume that this is going to be the way the filters will be packaged from now on. Other websites that sell this set have extensive listings on what the filters are capable of filtering out of the water, and that they are Level 4 still, and fhat is what used to be listed on the label of the set.

I am going to try the set again, and see if there is any change in the way the water seems from the sets I''ve used from Culligan for many years. The claims are the same for the filter set, but not listed on the label any more, and another reviewer, who contacted Culligan was told that the certification that used to be on the set, could not be used any more since the certification only applied to one of the filters in the set, the one that does most of the actual filtering of harmful items in the water.

If the set performs as before, and doesn''t have shoddy workmanship, or continuously leak carbon particles, or fail to make the water taste as good as previous sets have, I''ll be glad to report on that, and say the set is worth buying at the very good Amazon price.

As far as the product goes, this was an actual Culligan brand, just like the ad said, and this purchase was direct from Amazon. My prior filter purchase was from a reseller who said I''d get a Culligan, but what I got the previous time wasn''t.

I got the free shipping, and I guess you get what you pay for. It was free. There was no visible activity via online shipping tracking for a few days, then all of a sudden the package was in my hometown. It would at least make us think we''re happier if there was more feedback earlier, but hey, it was free, right?

I ordered this Jan 5, 2010, despite other warnings, thinking I might get lucky and get the right filter, and if not, at least amazon is usually good about returns. Sure enough, I only got the cheapo filter for taste, odor and sediment, not level 4 as advertised. I don''t know what to do now to find a quality replacement filter!

I have used the D-250 filters for almost ten years and have been very satisified up until now. After starting to replace the filters I noticed that the end caps for the carbon filters were both detached. I looked at the old filter to see if the caps were loose and they were both fastened securely. The outside of the package stated "Made in USA", but upon further investigation the filters were stamped "China" on the side of the filter. I examined the old filters and they were stamped USA. So apparently the Culligan filters are now being manufactured in China instead of the U.S. With all of the issues with heavy metals in children''s toy''s from China, I really don''t trust these filters. I think I would trust drinking my tap water more than trusting what the filters might add to my drinking water. I really don''t like the fact that the outside label of the Culligan filters state "Made in USA", but then I find out they''re really made in CHina. If they hadn''t been broken, I probably wouldn''t have noticed. Caveat Emptor.

Jupiter MicroLite Water Ionizer

Jupiter MicroLite Water IonizerThe filter was able to achieve around an 8.5 (out of 10) on the alkaline scale, which is good but not excellent.

Getting a 10 would be great, but it really depends on your source water. If your source water has lots of minerals in it, then it is possible. But in my case, I guess my water source (city water) doesn''t have alot of minerals). I have considered buying a remineralization filter add-on which would increase the amount inside, but I can live with 8.5 water for now.

Be aware that you have to find a "sweet spot" of water pressure for the unit to perform.

To find this out, run the unit on several different water level pressures, and then test samples with the reagent testing kit. Once you find a pressure level that is right for you, ONLY use the unit with this pressure level, otherwise it doesn''t perform that well.

My unit did not put out acid water (no matter what I did), but I don''t have any need for acid water, only alkaline water, so it was not that big of a deal.

The performance of the unit greatly depends on the water source being put into it. The water must have trace minerals in it in order for the ionization process to work. That means you have to use tap water, or a special filter that doesn''t remove the minerals. Or you can buy a remineralization filter as well which puts minerals back into the water after it has been filtered.

However, I find it easier to just use tap water directly from the faucet.

The system was also easy to install, and is WAY easy to use (all you do is turn the faucet on, and push a button). That''s it!

It even has a filter warning LED, which tells you when to replace the filter.

Overall, I would rate this unit as a BUY if you don''t want to spend alot of cash, and you are not too concerned with a large volume of filtered water. It is sufficient for family use.

Well... I bought this ionizer. I wanted a lot of high pH alkaline water. The higher the better. Wanted to drink gallons and have every thing cooked with this high pH alkaline water. This machine WAS NOT the machine I was looking for... and no where was I warned. Even the instruction manual and DVD that came with the unit did not say that this machine can only make SMALL amounts of alkaline water at a time and not that high a pH.

I was so happy when I got the machine. Drinking glass after glass. Easy to use. I made up 3 gallons to take to a friends house. I pulled out my pH strips to show how high an alkaline this great water was and ..... it was not much above neutral. Here is what I have found out.

You have to run the water at the smallest trickle you can with out the cleaning cycle kicking in again. Only a pint at a time of so-so high alkaline water can you make. Any more and the machine greatly reduces the pH. The machine does not tell you "sorry buddy but I am maxed out". To make a gallon of alkaline water would take some time. The machine should have a cut off when the plates can no longer handle it. If you run the machine too long you will not get much change than from standard tap water.

I was told I could upgrade. I would have lost a huge part of what I paid and then had to buy one in the 2000 buck range.

So I am stuck with it. However..... I make a pint at a time and then I had 2 drops of AlkaLife alkaline booster. Bought some here on Amazon. A bottle goes a long way. If you can not afford a 875 microlite then these drops are the way to go. Two drops in a 8oz glass most definitely raises it into the high pH alkaline range. By adding drops to my pint of microlite "royalwater" it likewise gives me the high pH water I am looking for. Cheaper than me upgrading, loosing money and then putting a a huge amount for a better, more powerful ionizer. I assume that at least I am getting the extra oxygen by having the water ionized. Wish I new at the beginning. If I was told at the beginning I probably would have just gave in and forked out the real big bucks..... like 875 is not big bucks too. I do believe in alkaline by design, acid by function.... and hope to change it.

I have since bought some cesium chloride and potassium and plan on mixing drops for the royal water instead of the AlkaLife. This machine did not give me what I was looking for BUT I will make do.

this shower head will change your showers forever

originally i set out to look for the best deal on a shower filter or shower heads in the past i had a filter that went between the shower head the replacements were 100 dollars and lasted a year wile trying to replace the filter the plastic case that help the filter broke making the filter useless on research I found that this was a constant problem and about 70% of people who bought plastic shower filter or shower heads had similar problems

so i decided a metal filtered shower head was the way to go so i started looking for metal shower heads that would do the job

I was still looking for a shower head that was not very expensive but more important the filters were in expensive

this one was a great price and being able to angle it in 3 different places would give me more head room being 6 foot that''s a plus

the filters are the most inexpensive filters I saw not only that they also filtered out more things than any other filter i found the filters come in 2 packs each one lasting 6 months and the package costs around 25 dollars plus spirit industry''s the one who sells them gives coupons out about 6 times a year or more so you can end up spending less

now enough about what an awesome deal this is

when i got it in the mail i checked it out and was glad to see it was very well made and it looks seek i was excited to set it up and take a shower so i went to work installing it and after setting it up and fallowing the instructions on how to get the filter ready for use i hoped in to find my shower experience was changed forever the way the water come out and how clean the water felt was like standing outside in the rain i was so amazed and everyone who has ever stayed at my house and taken a shower with this shower head have all said that it was "the best shower" they have ever had most of them with out me asking although i would have asked them anyway because i think this shower head is amazing

Gaggia 12500 Baby Twin Espresso Machine Save 28% Off

Gaggia 12500 Baby Twin Espresso Machine with Dual Heating System, Stainless SteelBaby Gaggia Twin

I am on my third Baby Gaggia Twin since February and the third one does seem to be the charm. The first machine had an impotent steamer and was sent back, the second, the steam wand came off entirely. I did notice that happened to another reviewer but went with this machine as it was in my price range and I felt lucky.

The first one was purchased through Essential Espresso (avoid at all costs) who when I called to address the problem were very "We don''t want to hear it, talk to the manufacturer" even though their site boasts a 30 day no hassle return. I wish I read the reviews on them before purchase. I won''t go into every detail but dealing with them was so unpleasant and they took so long to do anything that I decided that I would get my replacement from BBandBeyond, where I learned they would price-match even with a 300 dollar difference and free shipping!!

So, BBandBeyond gave me a truly hassle free exchange for the second machine and it''s faulty steam wand and now I am reasonably happy with the machine. The customer service there is among the best I have experienced.

The steamer takes a little getting used to. You need to purge it of water till the lights flash, turn it off and then back on again, keeping the wand out of your milk until it is up to "full steam" then turn it off again and put it in your milk pitcher. It sounds more painful than it is and all happens in about a minute and change.

Pros: Looks great, seems sturdy, is easy to use and clean, heats up quickly, makes very good espresso

The steamer takes a little getting used to. You need to purge it of water till the lights flash, turn it off and then back on again, keeping the wand out of your milk until it is up to "full steam" then turn it off again and put it in your milk pitcher. It sounds more painful than it is and all happens in about a minute and change.

Cons: There is a smell from the steam wand, it gets less over time and I am told that running descaler through it will eliminate it. (Why couldn''t they do that?) The group head is configured in such a way that you cannot really fill the portafilter full of coffee and have to leave a bit of room at the top. This is a slight bummer for me as I like my morning coffee a nice long pull and with our former machine could get enough coffee for 2 such pulls at one time for both me and the hubby. True, it is no Greek tragedy to pull 2 shots but just not as convenient. If you are pulling for one, there is no problem.

However, Gaggia itself and its U.S. representative, are lacking in customer service in my opinion.

After receiving my third machine, I sent an email asking about a pressurized portafilter for the machine. I also added that it would be nice of them to offer some discount on same taking into to consideration the inconvenience I had been through having 2 defective machines.

Both Importika in the U.S. and Gaggia in Italy totally ignored this. I would not buy from them again for that reason. To me, it would be a no brainer to comp a relatively inexpensive item to compensate for the inconvenience and leave the customer feeling that you value their business and regret the inconvenience. They obviously don''t.

It does take away some of the enjoyment of owning it

UPDATE

I no longer own this machine, it started leaking around the grouphead and after replacing the gasket and the filter basket to no avail, I returned it and went with another model. Various forums have given consistently good reviews to the Classic which is not a "snazzy" looking or programmable to your preferred size of shot. So far I am happy with it. You can tell right away that the steamer is better the crema is a litle thicker (probably because whatever was causing the leaking was not providing the proper pressure for "expression" of flavor. We decided to get a grinder also as this machine likes a finer grind than I can get in some places. After a few weeks, I will write a separate review for it but after 3 Baby Twins in 5 months, I can not recommend them from anything but a decorative standpoint.

This is a great espresso machine for home use if you are an espresso lover. However, avoid this machine if you want to make latte or cappuccino. I have had this machine for more than a month now and I have been using it relatively frequently. The foamer works great but the foam always comes out smelly. (like plastic or rubber smell). This problem was also addressed in another review on Amazon.

Overall, Gaggia Baby twin is a very aesthetically pleasing and durable espresso maker. It''s very well made and it will last you a life time. However I would avoid this machine just for the fact that you can''t make good latte or cappuccino with it.

Update: 1/27/2012

I owned this machine for more than 3 years now and it has been very disappointing. The milk frother broker after 6 months of use. I took the machine to a designated repair center and the center held it for almost a year because they were waiting for Gaggia to ship the necessary parts from Italy. (Worst product experience EVER) I finally requested the repair center to return my machine (still broken) so I can at least use it for just espresso. Now the electric touch pad is broken and the dumb thing is just sitting on my counter-top as a reminder of how crappy Gaggia products are.

Gaggia: Please refund my money!

i love the espresso this machine puts out but the entire machine is somewhat tainted for me given that the steamer has always smelled and made milk and water taste very very strongly of some kind of oil. at least there are separate espresso and steamer boilers. seriously, think motor oil or bicycle chain oil. ick, it is hard to get the taste and smell of my first few attempts at foaming out of my mouth and nose. i called the company and they suggested a descaling agent which did help, but still for the price for goodness sake it would be nice to have that taken care of at the factory.

I needed upgrade for my cheap Gaggia Pure and I needed to pick from this model and Gaggia Baby Class D. Sorry to say I bought Twin. 99% of coffees in our house is a cappuccino and I thought additional dedicated thermo-unit would make our living easier and save us some "waiting for a steam" time. I was stupid...

The point is that though there is second "boiler" indeed it is too weak to make proper milk froth for two cappuccinos in 650 ml jug (one portion of milk in 350 ml jug is okay). It''s power isn''t enough to whirl the milk which is absolutely needed to "stretch" the milk. Of course, you can use so called "turbo-frother",the default panarello tip but you will get only that poor bubbly parody instead of pro-like froth.

With any other Gaggia, Baby Class e.g., you could do it with it''s single boiler but having your top line Baby Twin you would not.

Cons: pathetic, impotent steamer

The Gaggia is a competent, well-made machine. It makes an excellent espresso. The dual heater system works very well. There''s no hint of foreign taste/smell from the frothing wand in our unit -something other reviewers have reported.

Things I like:

-It makes an excellent espresso.

-The dose system works well, though it occasionally dispenses an extra 10-20% volume. It''s nice not to have to vigilantly watch after you start a pull.

-The dual heaters works very well. If you use the frothing wand regularly, you''ll appreciate the machine''s ability to consistently deliver two temperatures simultaneously (alternately, actually).

-The frothing wand works very well with regular, skim, even soy milk. The swivel functionality is excellent.

-The boiler heats water faster than I can pull espresso shots.

-The drip tray is easy to service.

-The unit looks great.

Things I don''t like so much:

-Price. For the money, I think the Gaggia Baby Classic delivers more bang for the buck than the Baby Twin. The dual heater and dose system are nice, but don''t justify a 50% price increase. On the other hand, if you regularly make cappuccinos for twelve people at a time, the Baby Twin is worth every penny.

-The water tank isn''t big enough, and maddeningly, Gaggia drills the overflow hole nearly an inch lower than it needs to be.

-When first turned on, the ''water heater'' indicator on the front panel indicates it''s ready to go after only a couple of minutes. It''s not. The water''s hot, but the brew-head isn''t and you''ll end up with a luke-warm espresso. You need to wait the 6-10 minutes that Gaggia suggests. They ought to change the indicator to reflect both the water and head temperatures.

-Gaggia should knurl the compression ring on the frothing wand (it''s smooth). The wand does tend to come loose if you don''t tighten the ring thoroughly. I can develop the finger pressure to do it; my wife cannot. A rubber pad helps. Knurling would be better. Gaggia ought to fix it.

-The Baby Twin uses capacitive switches for the four selector buttons, and they''re too sensitive, in my opinion. They tend to trigger when my finger is still an 1/4" away, which leads to occasionally "pushing" the wrong button (not that big a deal -a second push cancels the operation).

-The frothing wand leaks a few drops of water now and then.

My wife and I are not espresso purists, but we enjoy a good espresso. We used a Capresso Ultima (also from Amazon) for nearly a decade. It had its own foibles (difficult to clean well), but frankly, it''s crema was superior to what we can achieve with the Gaggia. The Gaggia leaves me with the impression that it can make a really, really great espresso if I''m willing to invest the time and effort in perfecting my barista skills. Like Ferrari, Gaggia seems to be all about performance, and there''s nothing wrong with that. We just want a good espresso without too much fuss.
