Matala Pond Vacuum II Muck Vac

Matala Pond Vacuum II Muck VacThis is a great item to have for your pond or even swimming pool. Although a little slow to pick up large items such as leaves from last fall it works great on cleaning the normal dirt and sludge from the bottom of a fish pond. I wish I hadn''t waited so long to get one. The difference in the appearance of my pond is amazing. The cost value was great when compared to local shops in my area.

Everything it says it is. HAve a pond 9x12 and had lots of Algae being sucked up from bottom and recirculating in pump so the pond looked dirty all the time. This vacuum sucked it off the bottom no problems.

I only used the product once as the wheather turned cool so that the alge was not growing as fast.

The one time I did use it it did a good job, my only complaint was it paused to empty the container before I could get an area clean. Also a smaller brush would have been nice to have to get into the tight places.

All in all it beats the other pond cleaners that I looked at. Most of them were higher priced and gave you less.

We''ve used Franke filters for years and always felt they did the job well. So when the plastic mount failed, we went ahead and replaced it with an expensive metal one. Hopefully Franke has stopped selling the cheap plastic version, but people stuck with these may experience a leak or worse when they go to replace the filter.

KRUPS FLF2J4 Cordless Electric Kettle Save 22% Off

KRUPS FLF2J4 Cordless Electric Kettle, BlackThe kettle''s appearance is nice. It has high power and boils fast. Due to design of the lid the water is tightly covered so there is less evaporation.

Here are the problems.

1) The stainless floor becomes spotted and uneven really fast (faster than with my previous Braun kettle).

2) On my first unit power switch was malfunctioning. It took me 2-3-4 attempts before I could start it. I replaced the kettle with a new one and had the very same problems.

The bottom line.

If you decide to buy, don''t do it online. Buy at some place where you can easily replace the kettle if the first (second, third etc.) one is defective.

I decided to return this kettle and buy Braun for the same price.

Update 08/08/2008

After half a year I decided to give it another try and bought a new black Krups Kettle from Bad Bath And Beyond again. I hoped that they produced a new batch with the known defect fixed. Nothing has improved. The third kettle is also defective in exactly the same way power switch doesn''t work properly and turns the kettle off several seconds after turning on.

I love the features of this kettle. However, after 10 months of use, it began to leak around the seam just where the bottom of the handle joins the body of the kettle. Disappointing.

My husband thinks that small appliances are a waste of counterspace and money. I don''t always disagree, but we make press pot coffee twice a day and heating up the water on the stove took 15+ minutes and there was always floating sediment in the bottom of our kettle...sounds appetizing! I researched this kettle and liked the description that the water boiled quickly and turned off automatically....I also wanted it to retain heat and be able to be taken off of the heating source for serving. My husband (and I) really like this pot. We use it not only for coffee (full pot to boiling takes just under 5 minutes) but to boil water for pasta and other cooking. It saves me time and I don''t want to be in the kitchen all night....this is one small appliance that we do not want to be without. The only change I would make is that the handle seems a bit large for the average hand so it is not as comfortable to hold and I still have sediment...which is probably a problem with my water. At least now I can get into the pot to clean through the large opening. No weird smells here and we have been using daily for 6 months.

There are good/bad sides to anything, and here''s an attempt at an unbiased review of both:

Note: We purchased this at Bed Bath & Beyond using the discount. We had to exchange it due to the on/off switch not working, and the second kettle still works fine after 2 years. I liked it so much I got one for my mother in law as a gift. Hers is also working fine after 1 year. Personally, I''m switching to a stainless steel kettle b/c I don''t like having a plastic-lined kettle, and also the wattage is a bit too high for our kitchen (1750W is on the high end for electric kettles; some are 1500 or 1200W).

The Pros:

-item works well, have had no problems or leaks, etc.

-the high voltage heats water in just a couple minutes. i boiled 5 cups of water in 3 mins, 20 seconds. usually i boil only 2 cups at a time which is even quicker.

-not too loud as far as electric kettles go, sort of a low rumbling.

-easy to clean on the outside, dark color conceals splatters and dust

-the little switch on top lights up while it''s boiling

-there''s a trigger under the handle to open the lid. sometimes i open it to put the water in the kettle this way since the lid can be a pain (see below)

The Cons:

-for us, the high voltage has been a con, as it trips the breaker when we use our micro (which is 1100W) and the kettle (1750W) at the same time. fyi, our house is only 8 years old.

-we had trouble with the first model''s on/off switch. it wouldn''t stay on long enough to heat the water. (our 2nd kettle did not have this problem)

-the lid (on both that we tried) is a bit troublesome. you have to rotate it a bit back and forth (between "close" and "lock") to click it in place.

-the interior is the same as the exterior, a heavy-duty plastic material. the base is a silver metal, probly Stainless Steel. I am no longer comfortable boiling water in plastic for human consumption. The steel can get brownish from water deposits and needs to be cleaned (some stores sell drop-in tablets for that)--also normal.

Hope this review was helpful. I wrote it b/c I appreciate the reviews others have written! God bless, CB

Crane EE-7772 Air Purifier Frog Save 8% Off

Crane EE-7772 Air Purifier Frog, GreenReasons why you should get this --

I bought this to help removed pollen and pet dander from the air.

My allergies improved after I bought this -I could finally sleep through the night.

This was GREAT at removing pet odor from my dog and cat (and cat''s litter box)

There is less dust on my furniture when I have this constantly on power level 2

Reasons why it''s not 5 stars --

It is loud. I like background noise, and it helps me sleep better, but since not everyone feels the same way I think I should warn you that anything over power level 1 is loud.

Even with this on level 3, I still see a fair amount of dust floating around in the sunlight...

Perfect for a little one''s room. We are very happy with this air purifier. Filter is easy to change and it works great. Also serves as white noise.

(#1 Hall OF FAME REVIEWER)(TOP 10 REVIEWER)We''ve been using the PUR DS-1800Z 2-Stage Water Dispenser for more than 2 years now and, in my view, it''s the most convenient and effective water filtration system. If the dispenser is what makes the package convenient, it''s the filter that makes it effective.

As far as I can tell, the 40-gallon replacement suggestion is way too conservative. We found that the water as as odor-free and fresh-tasting after 3 months of use as it did after one month. Overall, we are very happy with the quality of water and the filter''s life. I believe that we replace filters after about 3 months.

These filters are:

inexpensive

effective

easy to replace

Some may not like the fact that there is no indicator showing when it''s time to replace the filter.

By the way, I must say "thank you Amazon" for helping me always pick the right consumables for the items I buy from Amazon. All it takes is to go back to the listing for the Two-Stage dispenser and Amazon immediately shows me exactly which filter I am going to need. Life is a little less complicated this way.

P.S. I''d go with the ''economy'' 3-pack solutions to save a little.

Capresso 465 CoffeeTeam TS 10-Cup Digital Coffeemaker Save 17% Off

Capresso 465 CoffeeTeam TS 10-Cup Digital Coffeemaker with Conical Burr Grinder and Thermal CarafeLet me start by saying that I''ve been a big fan of grind and brew coffee makers. I know full well what to expect. My last grind and brew was a Cuisinart DGB-550 which means I was already accustomed to cleaning 7 different parts every time I made a pot of coffee and having my cats run for cover when the grinding began. The Cusinart had served me well for over a year but I really wanted something with a thermal carafe and I was excited for the prospect of a burr grinder. On weekends it can take me hours to drink a pot and I hated having my coffee cook during that time. Not to mention the wasted electricity while keeping that carafe piping hot for hours.

PROS

====

1) Conical burr grinder. The burr modules spin at lower speeds than standard burr grinders, imparting less heat to the beans.

2) SUPER easy clean up. I don''t think anyone can beat this model when it comes to clean up. Just 4 parts -3 if you use paper filters. The carafe, carafe lid, basket and permanent filter. No filter lid, no dirty grinding chamber, etc.

3) Compared to blade style grind and brews, the noise volume is lower (still loud) and the tone is of a lower frequency. There is no way to make a grind and brew coffee maker quiet, but it would be nice if manufacturers started employing noise insulation or noise cancellation techniques. But overall, I found the noise very tolerable. My cats did not even care, normally they would bolt to the basement when the Cuisinart fired up.

4) Thermal carafe is designed very well. You activate a thumb button to pour and the flow rate is very good, maybe 75% of the flow rate you would get from a standard, glass carafe.

5) Backlit LCD display is large and easily legible both day and night, although like others have said it is very bright.

6) The little charcoal water filter seems to be the same size as the Cuisinart ones. I''m pleasantly surprised that they seem to be interchangeable. Helpful because I''ve seen the Cuisinart ones sold at several locations, but not the Capresso ones.

CONS

====

1) Bean reservoir lid pops off during grinding. Yes, I made sure it was securely in place. It just snaps on, there is way to lock it in place. The machine vibrates during grinding, which eventually works the lid free.

2) Coffee was weak on the 4 cup setting, even bumping the aroma setting all the way to dark didn''t help matters. For a $200+ coffee maker that determines the amount of beans to use itself, this was strange.

3) Thermal carafe, despite being well designed, is small (10 cup). The Cuisinart burr grinder models come with 12 cup thermal carafes.

4) No outside water gauge.

5) Top lid does not snap close easily and feels like it could be the first thing to break.

6) Capresso was stingy on the stainless steel. The sides and top are black plastic. Not a huge deal, but for this price I expected a more high-end look. To compare, the Cuisinart DGC-650 which is less than half the cost has stainless steel on both sides.

7) There are a couple of tablespoons of beans that are "in transit" to the grinder and inaccessible. They are processed when the next pot is brewed. So if you decide to brew a pot of decaf and were previously making regular, a portion of your pot will be made with regular beans. Or in my case, if you sometimes go several days between pots, your coffee is always made with somewhat stale beans. Unfortunately all of burr grind and brew coffee makers that I''ve seen work like this.

Let me start by qualifying my comments, not that they are any more valid than anyone else but, I''m VP of R&D for a high end hobby company. I develop products for a living and I''m very critical of poor designs.

That said, the Capresso 465 arrived at my office earlier today so, I unpacked it and took it for a spin. It would have shipped back the same day if it didn''t pass muster but, I took it home at lunch and it''s on my counter, set up, filled, and programmed to make coffee tomorrow morning.

The guys and I evaluated the machine and the overall design quality, materials, and construction are quite good. We cleaned it up a little and then brewed a pot of coffee. The maker worked flawlessly and the coffee was excellent. We grind beans and use a Bunn at the office so, myself and the guys are more than just coffee drinkers.

OK, to keep things brief, the best feature is the simple and elegant design that makes using and clean up about as simple as it could be. We essentially never referred to the manual except to confirm why it changed to 10 cups from 6 when run in auto mode (there are separate settings for auto vs. immediate brewing and they both default to 10 cups). Other than that, turning it on, setting the current time, programming the auto on time, etc., is just so simple. Also, the settings for the grind level and strength or, "aroma" as they call it, are obvious and intuitive. It took about 12 minutes from start to finish (when the machine shut off) to brew 6 cups of coffee. We used the medium aroma and 2nd to finest grind size for light roast Colombian beans. The coffee came out hot, too hot to drink immediately (which I think is how it should be) and the taste was excellent. It was noticeably better than the Bunn especially after the coffee "cooks" for a half hour or so on the burner. So, it passes with flying colors on making coffee and the quality of same. Clean up is simply rinsing the filter, filter cup, and carafe under water and you''re ready to go again.

Now, for a couple of downsides. The bean hopper lid vibrated up (not off) as others have reported. This is just a press fit and a matter of tolerances. I think it may be better to have a simple twist/lock feature in the future. For me, fixing this minor issue is as simple as a couple of very small unnoticeable pieces of black electrical tape to snug up the fit. No big deal. The other semi-down side for me is that I like to brew different kinds of coffee. Especially on weekends. There is no way to easily empty the bean hopper. You would have to tip the entire machine over, which can be done. So, in order to use a different type of coffee bean, you need to run out of what is in the hopper and then add the new beans. Also, there will be a tablespoon or so of ground coffee "in transit" that will end up in the new pot. The grind channel, as they call it, can be cleaned out by simply removing the cover and brushing the ground coffee into the basket. Again, not a big deal, just a point for those that often switch types of coffee. For example, if you had a decaf drinker in the house along with someone who preferred leaded, this could become a bit of a hassle if the decaf drinker can''t handle a tablespoon of caffeinated coffee in their pot or vise-versa.

In terms of other reviews, and since I based my purchase solely on them (never saw the pot until it arrived today) I think there may be some knit picking out there. For example, someone talked about leaving some coffee/water in the carafe. Well, coffee I get. You may loose a couple tablespoons each pot but, in terms of water, just tip it completely upside down and shake it a little and all the water will come out. Of course, it''s not bone dry at that point but, no more water remains than in any glass carafe I''ve used. And, in terms of the LCD being too bright, unless you''re sleeping in the same room with the maker, no big deal. I kinda like the idea of a night light in the kitchen anyway. In terms of noise, the Melitta Mill & Brew I used for 8+ years is at least twice as loud. The burr type grinder is lower pitch and much more tolerable than the Melitta was. Oh ya, the cats always left the kitchen when the Melitta went off! It was pretty obnoxious but, to me, worth 20 seconds of noise for a fresh ground pot of coffee. By the way, the Melitta was the best coffee maker I''ve ever owned previously. They are no longer made. We''ll see if the Capresso can overtake that title going forward.

I absolutely love this thing already and unless something very unexpected starts to happen, this is a very well designed machine for making excellent fresh ground coffee. If I have reason to update this review, either positively or negatively, I will. Those of you on the fence, I recommend you give the Capresso 465 serious consideration even at the price.

I''ll leave my original review below so those that are interested can read my first impressions. Unfortunately my Capresso died after 1 year of use. The grinder just crapped out rendering the machine a useless carcass. Very unfortunate. I did''t bother trying to have it repaired and have since moved on (and up) to the Miele CVA-4066 plumbed coffee system. Now THAT is a coffee maker!*my prior review here***********

I can''t say enough about this machine. I bought this baby about 3 weeks ago and I could not be happier. Let me start by simply saying this combination grinder/brewer makes the BEST COFFEE I''ve ever tasted out of a home machine. And, after all, isn''t that the most important thing? There are multiple user available tool to change the coarsness of the grind, the amount of grounds that enter the filter, and the "aroma" of the overall process. If you like strong coffee the 10 setting, even with a full pot, is as strong as any cup of Starbucks I''ve ever had. If you like "weaker coffee" you can can simply reduce the amount of beans you use. So, for coffee taste and flexibility/adjustability this machine gets an A+

Probably the next most important thing is the appearance. We looked at the Coffeeteam Therm I really liked the idea of the grinding process being separated from the brewing process. That seemed important to avoid the problem the Cuisinart''s have where the brewing process seems to gum up the grinding area (more on this in a bit). The problem with the Coffeeteam therm is it''s not such a good looking machine. I also thought there was a high likelihood of having to clean up grounds off the counter every morning. Anyway, this machine is very sharp looking. Some folks have complained that it puts out a lot of steam and to be sure there is steam (as with any coffee maker). We don''t have ours under a cabinet so it''s no problem. But even if you are going to put this under cabinet again, I''m not sure it puts out that much more steam than any other coffee maker...maybe a little. So, looks, at least in our kitchen solid A!

Clean up is important. This coffee maker comes with the gold tone filter so if you like you don''t have to use a paper filter. We still do because it speeds cleanup. After each use (or before the next) just open the filter door, dump the paper filter and grounds, lightly wash the gold tone filter and thermal carafe and you''re ready to start a new brew. I think once every other week it''s probably important to wash the filter holder etc. I also wipe down the surfaces after starting each new pot. Bottom line VERY EASY to clean. I give it an A.

Over all build quality. Yes, for $200+ one might expect more stainless steel but this baby is a well built solid, compact machine. I have no issues with the overall build A solid B

Other points:

Grinder Noise: Some have complained about the noise the grinder made. Heck, I was prepared for the worst when I bought it. I used to have a blade grinder that seemed very loud so my expectations were fairly low. Still, I''d live through 30-45 seconds of grinding for a nice cup of joe in the morning. Well, to my surprise this grinder made A LOT LESS NOISE than my blade grinder. In fact I don''t even hear it in the morning. Now, our bedroom is upstairs so it is a bit away from the machine but when I used the blade grinder everyone in the house would be up. This machine you can barely hear it unless your either in the kitchen or in an adjacent room with the radio or TV off.

Coffee In Transit: Some have mentioned there are "beans in transit to the grinder" that hinder ability to go from caffinated to de-caf. The simple answer to this is to grind what''s in transit into an empty filter, put in your de-caf and off you go. Yes, this means holding some already ground beans aside for future use but I''m not sure other machines have any answer to that one.

Coffee Ground in Transit: Yes, there is some coffee already ground that doesn''t make into the filter that rests in the channel between the grinder and the filter basket. This is a nominal amount and will be used for your next potmost likely the next day. I''m not sure this changes the flavor it''s such a small amount.

Gumming Up: This is a problem with the Cuisinart so I was a bit fearful with this machine because the grind process is above and a bit set back from the brewing process. However the automatic seal device that closes off the channel between the brew and grind does a fantastic job. This baby doesn''t have any issues with gumming up AT ALL.

Top of Bean Reservoir popping off: Well, all I can say it, not on mine. Not once. Never seen it.

Internal Water Line View: Yes, there is not externally exposed view for the water reservoir. Uh, I don''t see this as a big deal. When you open the bin there is one inside. Quite functional. No issue there.

SUGGESTED IMPROVEMENTS:

The bean reservoir could be larger. I''ve heard there''s an attachment for that. It holds about 3 days (Full Pots) of coffee.

The water reservoir lid needs to be reviewed a little. It''s functional but a bit hard to open and close. Probably would suggest a different material.

Anyway, LOVE THIS MACHINE. JUST LOVE IT!

I usually buy through Amazon, but ordered from another site because I didn''t want to wait another 3 weeks Amazon Time to get my hands on this coffee maker. I''ve had it for a little over a week now, it replaces a 7 year old Capresso CoffeeTeam, and I love the new design. The most noticeable design change is the narrow profile with direct feed grinding, thankfully doing away with the notoriously cantankerous swing-arm. I''m also glad to upgrade to the thermal carafe this time around, I don''t always get around to drinking my coffee when I intend to, so it''s nice not to have the coffee burning on the warmer. This is the best grind-and-brew system around, but there are still some tweaks Capresso could make to bring this to perfection.

1.) The thermal carafe is designed in a way that makes it impossible to get every last drop of coffee out, you''ll always end out with 2-3 tablespoons of sad wasted coffee in the bottom. (I guess you could use a straw if you were desperate!) This design also makes it hard to clean. Unless you towel dry the inside, you''ll end out with water in the bottom of the carafe, waiting to dilute your next cup.

2.) The brewing process creates a lot of steam! The coffee maker fits nicely under my cabinets, but the bottoms of my cabinets are dripping with water after brewing. I usually put a cotton towel over the steam hatch to save my poor cupboards.

3.) Between the steamy brewing and the lost coffee trapped in the carafe, plan on 1/2 cup of water "disappearing." If I want 12 ounces of coffee to fill my travel mug, I need to pour 16 ounces of water into the reservoir.

4.) The display is too bright! I''ve come into the kitchen a few times at night thinking I''d left a light on...they need to dim that down.

All in all, I''m a happy camper. The grinder sensor on my old Capresso failed after 2 years, so I couldn''t set the timer for magic AM coffee. I love having my magic coffee fairy back again!

I just bought this coffeemaker to replace my grind and brew Cuisinart which was a horrible grind and brew machine. The Capresso makes an outstanding cup of coffee and is very easy to use. The beans remain dry and the burr grinder is superior to other coffee grinders on the market.

This coffee maker has everything you need, thermal carafe, water filter, burr grinder and auto feature which allows you to have the perfect pot of coffee ready at a pre programmed time. I like the size of this machine it takes up less counter space than previous models.

Haier HU335W Ultrasonic Cleaner Save 58% Off

Haier HU335W Ultrasonic CleanerI read the 1st review of this item, and ordered the cleaner anyway, hoping for better results. Indeed my Haier machine works quite well. BUT...don''t expect jewelry and coins to come out sparkling clean, like the pictures and the hype. Instead, think of the machine as a shortcut to a lot of scrubbing with a toothbrush. Earrings gunked up with hairspray were somewhat cleaner after a few cycles; but then after just a short scrub with a soft brush, they were as good as new! Same with diamond rings, etc. The cleaner helped greatly, but did not clean everything immaculately all by itself. The cleaner really gets into the nooks and crannies in watchbands, etc., but again, some follow-up is needed with a brush.

In my opinion, it is definately worth it''s purchse price.

I''ve been using this machine once a month to clean my wedding rings and three years later they still look new. Does a great job of removing the buildup behind the diamond setting where a toothbrush just doesn''t quite reach. I also like the fact you can use plain water.

This is an inexpensive, good looking, and efficient enough cleaner, but may have very limited life due to faulty components. I''ve purchased three of these, and know now it was a poor investment. The first stopped working after 5 months, and thinking it just bad luck, bought two more; one, I gave as a gift and reportedly is still working, but the second stopped working for me after almost a year of regular use. It works well, but you''ll take your chances with this unit.

Austin Air HealthMate HM 400 Save $0.01 Off

Healthmate HM-400 HEPA Air Filter Purifier - SandstoneI searched through a large selection of air filters trying to optimize price, utility, reputation, and ease of use (I don''t have time to replace some components every 6 months and other components every 3 months, etc). I decided on the Austin Air Healthmate Air Purifier. From there, it was a search for a reasonable retailer. Due to price (along with free shipping) and Amazon backing, I chose All Seasons Health.

The product arrived quickly and in perfect condition--I would definitely order other products through this retailer.

I pulled the Healthmate out of the box and after reading the instructions, I plugged it in and away it went (yep, that was it). I was having a problem with new carpet installation (an abundance of VOC''s causing watering eyes, sore throat, and dizziness); the difference in just two days was remarkable and noticed by others. The Healthmate has three settings, low, medium, and high. The output on high is amazing and has an added benefit of dramatically increasing airflow in the room. The low setting is quiet enough to sit next to the machine and watch a movie without difficulty.

According to the instructions, in about four to five years I will have to replace the filter inside and from a cursory review of the instructions, it should be much simpler than replacing my water filter.

I will add further comments closer to allergy season.

4 stars for the air cleaner, 1 star for out-of-warranty repairs. I have owned 2 Austin units since 1996, the full size HM400 and the ''Jr'' HM200. They do a pretty fair job of filtration, although there are better units that have come on the market since these came out. The filters do not last 5 years, more like 3 before they start to lose effectivness. That was still pretty good, until some of the better competition started to arrive. (I bought 2 competitors units, and they work better at filtering the air, and are about the same in filter costs, but I kept the Austins for use in other rooms.)

Overall, I was satisfied with these, until they needed out-of-warranty repair. The Austin HM 200 needed shipment to the factory just before the 5 year warranty was up, and was repaired under warranty, so I wasn''t aware of potential out-of-warranty problems. I recently replaced the filter on the larger Austin HM400, when I noticed the blower started running more slowly, and varying the speed a lot while running, even almost coming to a stop. I called Austin, and they said I would have to use the "... repair and return service for units that are outside of the five year warranty. It would be $45 for parts, $45 for labor and the shipping to and from our Buffalo offices would also be the customers expense." I could not see wasting the energy resources or money to ship this back to Buffalo from California, so I had a local HVAC service diagnose the problem. (tough diagnosis their is a metal case, a filter, a 3 speed switch, and electric motor, and a small black box on the motor called a run capacitor.) It turned out to be a $6.00 motor control capacitor, ("usual point of failure on fans and blowers last 5-10 years on average" according to the shop) which they suggested I order from Austin as being the ''easiest route''. I was surprised to get the same response from Austin:

"Unfortunately we do not sell the individual mechanical components of our units. We do offer a repair and return service for units that are outside of the five year warranty. It would be $45 for parts, $45 for labor and the shipping to and from our Buffalo offices would also be the customers expense." This would mean about $150 to replace a $6 part on a 15 year old unit wich is basically only a fan/motor/switch and a filter in a metal box. If they replaced the motor, wires, switch and provided a new warranty for that price, it would be worth it.

I will find the part elsewhere. As I said, this is a very reasonable air purifier, but there are better at the same or slightly higher price points. The biggest downside for potential purchasers, however, is that about the time you are due for the first filter (allegedly 5 years), your warranty will be up. This means a cost of ~$200 for a filter replacement, and $150+ shipping round trip when something goes wrong 70% of the cost of a new unit with a warranty. Something to keep in mind before purchase or ordering replacement filters on an older unit.

UPDATE 2/6/2011

After more research on the suspected broken part, I found it on-line, as well as from a local supplier that would sell retail (CarbonBrush.com) and ordered an exact replacement for the suspected damaged part, a small black box with 2 wires, bolted on the motor called a ''motor run capacitor''. I ordered the exact part from the numbers on the side of the black box "6uf +/5%,350vAC CBB61, UL number E183963". Available with a long wait for $6 on line from various overseas suppliers, ordering it locally was $10 $18 after California tax and shipping (prompt shipping by the company ordered late Thursday night, delivered prioritymail Saturday morning).

I also needed a 2 pack of crimp style spade connectors "22-18 Insulated female 0.25". At this point I could have taken the parts and Austin to any HVAV or sewing/vacuum cleaner repair shop for installation, but it was so simple a job that I felt I had enough basic wiring skill to do it myself. If you don''t know anything about electricity, just take everything to a shop like above. But if you have ever changed out a wall switch at your house, then you probably have enough knowledge and skill to do this at home.

I did it myself, and the Austin again runs just fine, no noise or motor speed changes. It took 15 minutes, and total cost under $20, not counting about 8 hours of my time researching the possible problem, and identifying a part source. (Incidently, in my research I found that this is the same part that fails on ceiling fans, with the same symptoms, and replacement parts and procedures are the same.)

Buy Austin Air HealthMate HM 400 Now

The Austin Air Healthmate is the best I''ve ever owned. One large unit is enough for our entire house. It reduces (or even eliminates) odors from our cat''s litter box and makes the stale air in our home fresher when we return from a couple of days away. We run it in the bedroom at night and wake up feeling healthier than we did before we got one of these. It''s quiet on the lowest setting, and a little loud but very powerful on the highest setting. There''s easy maintenance (just vacuum the outside once a month). Replacement filters are a little on the expensive side (around $200), but well worth it. The salesperson that sold us ours said we''d have to replace the filter every five years. We run ours constantly and had to replace it after three years. I think the expense is still worth it, as the quality of this product cannot be matched by less expensive purifiers.

I bought this unit to help with my wife''s breathing issues. Last fall, we found out that she was allergic to a very common mold Aspergillus that is found in decomposing leaves and vegetation. So, she is basically allergic to the fall season. Wonderful. This year, we wanted to be as proactive as possible in eliminating the symptoms she was experiencing if at all possible. We knew that, at worst, we wanted to create a sanctuary of clean air in our home. Enter the Austin Air HealthMate.

Why I bought it

After a good deal of research, I landed on this unit for a few reasons. First, it is very well made. I didn''t want a unit that our 2 year old son or our large puppy would be able to break. This thing is solid. It weights in at about 45 pounds, so it won''t be picked up without some effort, but the wheels on the bottom make it a breeze to move around the house.

The second reason I chose this unit was because of the cost of filters. Many of the cheaper units have multiple filters that need to be changed at varying frequency. I don''t want to change a filter monthly, quarterly, and yearly. Not only is the maintenance just another thing to add to the list, but each filter costs more money. With the company not only claiming this unit''s filter lasts for 5 years, but also providing a warranty on the filter, I was sold. I haven''t done the exact math, but I bet you could buy a new unit every 5 years instead of replacing the filter and still come out ahead when compared to many of the units with lower upfront costs.

The final reason I chose this reason is because of the maintenance required. It is almost nothing. Every month or so, it is helpful to vacuum the outside of the unit to make sure nothing is blocking the air intake which would result in lower efficiency. That is. I can handle that.

Why would I recommend it?

The first night we used the unit in our bedroom, I woke up in the middle of the night. I took a breath through my nose, and realized why I had woken up. I had been congested for about 4 months. I just wrote it all off to allergies or seasonal changes. I didn''t realized that the air I was breathing in the house could be perpetuating the problem.

Over time, my wife made several comments about being able to breath easier. I couldn''t believe that an air filter could make that big of an impact. As her lungs seemed to be less of an issue, we got lazy with using it and often left it in the bedroom instead of rolling it into the living room. One day, my wife went out back for literally a few minutes, and came back in coughing hard. I wheeled the unit out into the living room, and turned it on high. Within a minute or so, the coughing stopped. We exchanged glances of disbelief. This thing was really working!

The final proof to me was when some friends came up for the weekend. Two of them are allergic to cats, and have to take medicine within a few hours of being in the house. With the filter, they asked if things had changed in the house, because their symptoms were greatly reduced.

The other thing I''ll add to this is how well it cleans the air for a good sized room. Our great room is where we spend most of our time, and consists of a living room, dining room and kitchen. This unit does a fantastic job of improving the air quality of the entire space. When we go to sleep, we just wheel the unit to the bedroom. I love how flexible it is for us to use where we are. It has also been great when my son gets sick. If his room smells bad, we put the unit in the room on high for a few minutes to clean the air.

What about the sound?

I''ll also address the sound of the unit, as it had come up a few times in my research. On 1, the unit blends in with ambient noise without a problem. The TV doesn''t have to be any louder, and we don''t have to talk differently than normal. On 2, the unit is easy to hear, and the TV needs to be turned up a a bit, but conversations aren''t dramatically impacted in our experience. On 3, the unit sounds similar to an AC unit fan quite noticeable. For us, the sound is no bother at all regardless of the setting. We are not light sleepers, so setting 1 and 2 have been no problem at all for us when it is running in our bedroom. We''ve never tried it on 3.

Conclusion

On the whole, this unit has been worth every penny for my wife and family''s well being. I never realized it would benefit me as much as it has either. The air is noticeably cleaner in our house, my congestion has been almost completely eliminated, and my wife''s asthma has been much more manageable. I had a lot of doubts when purchasing this, or any, air filter for our house. My expectations have been surpassed to say the least, which is good when you are spending this kind of money on something.

Want Austin Air HealthMate HM 400 Discount?

The primary reason my husband I bought this product was to clean the air in our home from the dog odor that seemed really hard to eliminate with traditional cleaning. We''ve had this product for a year now and have LOVED it from the beginning. Right away we noticed that the dog smell in the air was practically eliminated when we leave the unit running. When we return from being away from home for a few days or turn the unit off, we really notice a difference in the quality of the air; it does what it advertises it will do. It has also really helped with our allergies. I am giving this product four stars however, because after a year, I''m ready to buy a new filter, though the product advertises that it will last up to five years. When I recently called the company to ask about receiving a replacement filter, they offer a forty percent discount off the price of the filter during the first two years of use. I will be buying a replacement filter because we love this unit so much when it''s working at optimum level. I will say we leave it running all the time and have recently done renovations to our home, so that may be the reason we need a new filter already. Below is a breakdown of the pros and cons of this unit:

Pros:

-REALLY cleans the air of smells and allergens. I honestly was surprised by how clean the air smelled when we first bought the unit. It really does the job we wanted it to.

-Though I wouldn''t say it''s whisper quiet at the lowest level, we leave it running all the time (even when we''re out of the house during the day), and we really don''t notice the noise(and we have really tall ceilings).

-One unit will really clean a large surface area. I was concerned about the tall ceilings in our living space, but it hasn''t been a hindrance at all in the effectiveness of this product.

-Incredibly easy to use with very little maintenance and very easy to use right out of the box

-Though it''s not inexpensive, compared with similar high-end products on the market it''s priced reasonably. I can''t imagine something more expensive being more efficient. We''ve found this product to be worth the money that was paid for it, and it''s much better than having bought something at even half the price that didn''t work as well.

-Rolls easily so it can be tucked away or moved simply from room to room

Cons:

-The filter needs replacing after a year of use, but as I mentioned, we leave it running all the time and have done renovations in our home that probably contributed to the lack of longevity in the life of the filter. If you call Austin Air specifically, they will provide you with a new filter at a forty percent discount (during the first two years, but they will offer it at a pro-rated discount for up to five years).

Bottom line:

If you''re looking for an air-purifier that will rid your home of smells and allergens, you won''t be disappointed by this product (plus it''s incredibly low maintenance and easy to use).

Honeywell Quick Steam Warm Moisture Humidifier

Honeywell Quick Steam Warm Moisture Humidifier, HWM-330Clearly a lot of people have had problems with this unit. When mine failed after about 6 weeks of use, I dug into it to see what was up. It ends up that the overheat protection on this thing isn''t real great. The first layer of overheat protection is provided by a sensor integrated into the heating element. I can''t tell exactly, but it seems from the element manufacturer''s literature (....) that the device sends a cut off signal between 250 and 300 C, per the chart on page 4. However, Honeywell used an NEC-Schott SF214E thermal cutoff as a backup device. This fails permanently if it''s heated to 214 C. In other words, the backup, "sacrifice the machine and not the house it''s in" device fails before the normal operation re-settable thermal cutoff. As a result, the device will probably stop working the first time it runs dry. Don''t buy it.

Of four units that were sent, three failed after one or two nights'' use. Don''t bother.

Unfortunately, my experience was the same as most other reviewers. I only got two months use out of the unit before it stopped working completely: no mist, lights or power. Honeywell makes wonderful humidifiers, but this model is a complete dud.

I have a couple of tips for other unfortunate souls who are about to return this horrible humidifier. A rep from KAZ told me to send the unit in to their Return Department and they would replace it at no cost (although I have to pay for the shipping to KAZ). If you''re returning one of these units, be sure to tell the rep to do the following: waive the $10 warranty fee, and send a different model of humidifier as a replacement. The rep I spoke to had no problem with either of these requests. Now, I''ll just have to wait and see if they follow-thru on a good replacement.

I have a newer model, 3 gallon, HMWM-331. After going through 3 other brands with very poor results this season, this one is a winner! Very quiet (no gurgling); it will not disturb an infant or a light sleeper, as opposed to the Bionaire and others, efficient and easy to clean. So far, no mineral build-up, even though our water is quite hard. It uses disposable mineral absorption pads. The only inconvenience is filling the tankit doesn''t sit flat and you need to support at an angle. but that is really minor, given the quiet efficient operation and attractive design. Low price too. This is the best we''ve ever had. The phone support is also good. Kaz works for many brands and they are quite responsive, even though many of the brands aren''t very good. I definitely recommend this unit to anyone looking for a very quiet warm mist unit for a mid-size room.

I bought a new Honeywell Quicksteam (HWM-330) several months ago from a local store, to help keep our bedroom at a comfortable humidity. The humidifier worked well enough, but less than a week after we had been using it, the unit wouldn''t turn on again the morning after we used it.

We suspected the problem was that the unit burned out after having used up its water supply during the night. To their credit, Honeywell sent us a brand new unit after we sent the broken one back to them. But once again, the new unit died after running out of water overnight, less than a week after we had received our second unit.

It would be one thing if they had advertised the unit as NOT having an auto shut-off feature. In that case, we never would have purchased it; however, we''ve had two units die after less than two weeks of CUMULATIVE use, and for the same reason. As such, I strongly recommend AGAINST purchasing this humidifier.

Cuisinart DGB-600BC Grind & Brew

Cuisinart DGB-600BC Grind & Brew, Brushed ChromeYe gads. I forgot all about the fierce partisanship amongst purchasers that this wee little machine invokes. Last year, I dutifully combed through all of the reviews and was almost pursuaded to look to another machine. Thank the stars I was not. Like many, I was won over by the lure of (1)the thermal carafe, (2) the auto grind&brew feature, and (3) the shininess. I also trusted the Cuisinart name and had been previously pleased with the Brew Central. I noted, however, that many writers were highly displeased with (4) the noise and (5) the mess. So, after a year, here are my experiences:

(1) The thermal carafe rocks out loud. Yes, pre-heating the carafe seems to keep the coffee hotter for longer, but on the crazy work-mornings that I use the auto-grind&brew function, I do not pre-heat and find no need to, as I am out of the house at light speed. Note that the coffee is still scaldingly hot. People seem irritated/perplexed at the slowness with which coffee is dispensed from the carafe, as well as the steep pouring angles necessitated by the carafe. I am not at all disturbed by either; however, a relative in need of immediate coffee discovered that one can get faster pouring by just removing the lid. Which defeats the awesome vacuum-packed thermal hotness, but seems a likely remedy for those with a fundamental aversion to slow pours. As far as weird geometry issues, I have nothing to offer.

(2) The auto grind&brew is very convenient. It has always worked flawlessly for me and really amazes and pleases guests who may rise before residents.

(3) It is damn shiny.

(NB: I have a lot of stainless in the kitchen and, through trial and error, have found that the Method stainless steel cleaner keeps it all damn shiny and keeps me from going stark raving from the constant buffing and rubbing).

(4) The noise? Really not that unusual for a coffee bean grinder. I did not notice that it was any louder than other grinders. If the "grind" portion of the auto grind&brew is waking one too early, I would imagine that one could either pregrind or use ground beans and just skip the "grind" function. While it is intriguing to imaging a space age machine with stealth grind mode, I would urge potential buyers to neither expect silence nor let lack of silence keep you from buying this machine.

(5) The ire over the mess was what nearly kept me from purchasing this maker. And I completely forgot about the issue until just now when I re-read some of the reviews. I guess that I don''t understand what "mess" they mean. There are seven parts to this thing that I clean: carafe/lid, filter/basket/lid, and grinder base/lid. I rinse the carafe and filter with hot water and clean the rest with hot soapy water. It all takes approximately 2.5 minutes. I never have to clean the rest of the machine. I usually tilt the top-loader lid open to let condensation out after brewing is done. I occasionally wipe the inside of the machine down with a damp cloth. I have replaced the water filter a couple of times. But altogether, clean-up is not that big of a deal. Maybe others are not getting a tight enough seal on the the grinder parts?

SUMMARY: I have had this machine for over a year and have never had a single problem with it. It makes delicious, hot coffee. I was almost deterred by the problems that others have had with it, but am glad that I opted to take my chances. I gave it four, rather than five stars because so many people have had problems with it. Even though I have not experienced these problems, the negative feedback must nonetheless be taken into consideration.

cheers!

~currer bell

previous was the typical old plastic type with glass carafe

Good Points:

much considerable improvement in coffee taste now

the thermal carafe with autoseal until poured keeps coffee hot and no stale or burnt taste, it is double lined with stainless steel

auto shutoff of heating element immediately after brewing prevents burning of coffee and electricity bills

the 1-4 cup extra heat excellent idea

the built-in grinding process

choice of using paper filter or gold filter basket

beeping tells you when coffee is ready

does not have that ugly water level marker, it has a built-in marker where you pour water, a 3-D step ladder sort of speak

does not expell any heat or humidity from unit, well sealed

nice design and looks

Bad Points:

cannot tell amount coffee left in carafe

pours out slowly from carafe

carafe autoseal feature requires you to pour at a steeper angle to get faster flow output which still isn''t fast enough for me

grinder howls for about 30 seconds when running, it does not adjust grind-time for amount of coffee beans inside, it defaults to a 10 cup grind, solving this would require some clever engineering idea

I find I have to clean more than my old machine, I clean the grinder and lid, basket and basket lid, ... the grinder does create a lot fine coffee dust which does get packed into every nook and cranny

We have had our new Cuisinart DGB-600BC Grind and Brew, Thermal coffee maker for a week now. We had ordered it online before we saw these reviews and based on the poor reviews of others almost cancelled our order, but decided to give it a try anyway. Well, so far we are not disapointed at all.

Ours was on backorder and perhaps some improvements have been made.

Using the gold filter basket along with a paper filter and a full grinder of normal bean coffee, it makes a very good and strong coffee.

As far as the complaints about cleaning...the only thing different than a normal coffee maker is that you must take out the grinding mechanism and rinse and towel dry after every use. It slips out easily and we just rinse under hot water for about 30 seconds and then dry with a paper towel (there are only two parts to the grinder). Does not take more than a minute or two and you can proceed to make another pot of cofee right away.

The coffee is very hot in the thermal carafe and seems to stay that way for hours. It is a little difficult to pour out the last few ounces of coffee as the pour spout is set in from the side of the carafe.

The stainless model is not really stainless, but is simulated (plastic) stainless. This was somewhat of a disappointment as I don''t know how well the finish will hold up over time.

Another concern is that the opening and closing latches and hinges seem a little flimsy and poorly designed. Sometimes hard to open or close.

In closing, where performance counts a great cup of coffee this coffee maker produces the results we were looking for in a sharp looking package.

Normally, Cuisinart is synonymous with quality. And I love my Cuisinart food processor. Love the small food processor, too. But their grind-and-brew coffee makers are poorly-made plastic junk. I had the original one...everything with two plastic connectors now has only one, and I was always careful with it...I now have to balance the lid on the carafe, have to hold the top lid closed with clamps I''ve attached or the thing won''t brew...

So when I saw the new model, I thought, "Great! They must have fixed it!" Just got it yesterday, and I''m already disappointed. The first thing you''ll notice is that the nice shiny metal is only real on the carafe. The rest is just a cheap faceplate over flimsy plastic on weak hinges and thin components. I can almost feel it wanting to break every time I fill it. The first model had to be completely dried out after every use because the steam backs up through the grinding components, leaving a trail of coffee-bean-coagulated-sweat all through the device. I''d hoped they''d have put some sort of steam backflow prevention mechanism in the new model...they did not. Still have to dry out the whole works after every use. Even the compartment where only dry beans were placed.

With the thermal carafe version, the resting plate at the bottom does not heat, it only holds the carafe. I assume the glass version does act as a heating plate...So this morning, when I came to get my coffee, I thought perhaps I''d set the timer wrong. I didn''t see the little light glowing to tell me that the thermal plate was working. I had done it right, however; it just relies on the insulating properties of the thermal carafe to keep the coffee warm. Truth be told, I prefer that to burnt coffee...but that''s the only good part of this device.

I think, for my next grind-and-brew, I''ll shell out the extra bucks for the Capresso.

I was a skeptic after reading all the negative reviews, and even encountered a disgruntled elderly woman at the store who told me how much she despised this machine, but something in my gut said I should buy it and I did. I''ve had this coffeemaker for three months now and it''s become one of my most loved possessions, right up there with my handsfree wireless and my favorite pens.

It is important to note that it takes a few brews to get to know your new coffeemaker. I too had the leak experience upon first brew, but I realized that I was obviously overfilling the water tank, despite what the level said. It''s also taken some trial and error to get the right ratio of coffee to water, but one must understand that this is a factor of personal taste and shouldn''t be dictated by some recipe. Yes, it takes a little extra effort to clean. But I''ve noticed that most nice things do take that extra effort to manage and maintain, and I don''t mind getting my hands a smidge dirty in exchange for the result!

It does pour slower than the regular carafe. But that''s a bit picky, don''t you think? Seven seconds to fill your cup. What do you want, three seconds? What so great about that other four seconds? Is it life or death? If it is, you probably shouldn''t be kicking back with a cup of coffee at the moment anyway. Plus, this is no regular carafe! I park this thing right next to me at the computer and don''t have to travel back and forth to the kitchen to get more coffee that''s well worth the four seconds I''d save in the kitchen with my old coffeemaker.

It grinds loud? Of course it grinds loud. It''s grinding. Just the nature of the word "grind" leads one to attach a certain amount of noise to the action in my mind. The process is swifter than my previous grind n'' brew and actually a bit quieter not that I mind the grind sound. I''ve come to appreciate it in a way.

I''m not one to usually write a review, but it seemed that others picked at this product and I felt compelled to share my thoughts on what I consider to be a fantastic addition to the kitchen. By one if you''re on the fence. I''ll be enjoying my french roast while you think about it.

I will now just do this twice a year just to be sure. but if you let yours get away from you like I did.... get this! it cleans in the pipes were you cant see the gunk building up. clean before you get swimmers rash from your clear spa.

Culligan UB-1 Mounting Bracket with Screws Save 8% Off

Culligan UB-1 Mounting Bracket with Screws
  • The Culligan UB-1 single housing bracket is a "U" shaped mounting bracket for 3/4" inlet/outlet standard whole house housings.
  • The UB-1 mounts standard whole house water filter housings and helps support the weight of the water filter.
  • Screws are included with the UB-1 mounting bracket for securing the water filter housing to the wall. The screws are No.10 1-1/2" pan head screws.

This bracket isn''t quite as hefty as I had hoped, but is certainly adequate. In addition to Culligan filters, it will also support most other ten inch filters with 3/4" connectors. I am using it to mount a Watts WH LD Premier Filter with integral top-mounted bypass valve, for which Watts apparently makes no specific mount. The price through Amazon, including shipping, is the best I found on line.

This is a great way to mount a water filter to the wall so changing filters is NOT an easy way to break the pipe or soldered connection. The mount holds the filter housing rock solid to make filter changes easy. I install one of these on every filter installation, just makes life so much easier.

This bracket looked a little light at first but, once mounted to a plywood wall with 4 screws, it became very stiff and works well as a mount for the water filter housing.

Either someone changed the design or somebody made it wrong. I have purchased these before over the years[elsewhere] and they were the correct width for the water filter I purchased. This time however, the bracket is 3/8" wider than the width of the water filter housing. {the bracket and filter housing and filter were sold as a 3 part kit} On top of that, I believe the holes for the plumbing fittings are too large. I have copper pipe in my house and used 3/4" copper fittings into the filter housing. The holes are so large, that the fitting almost goes through the holes in the bracket. IF you are familiar with 3/4" copper male adapters, they have flat sides on them so you can wrench them. Even with these flat sides, they almost go through the holes. To describe it, the ''corners'' of the wrench fitting are all that keeps the fitting from falling through the hole in the bracket. I looked for large washers at my local orange box store but they didn''t have anything. Also, to install, you have to squeeze the bracket down to meet the filter body. The old ones were a snug fit with smaller holes. These are better than nothing, but I''m not thrilled with it. IF you do the same, remember to solder the fittings into some pipe stubs sep from the filter housing, then install into the filter after they cool down or you will melt the water filter housing.

ZeroWater ZT-2 Electronic Water Tester Save 50% Off

ZeroWater ZT-2 Electronic Water TesterI purchased this device to check the performance of a water filter I purchased here on Amazon. To my dismay, I learned the water filter was virtually useless. The filtered water was almost the same as the water straight out of the tap. I checked the water from my new Samsung refrigerator and its internal filter was much better than the big under sink filter I purchased. The Samsung refrigerator filter reading was about half of the incoming water reading. Also, I use this to measure bottled water that I buy at Wal-Mart to find the brands with the lowest reading. And I bought a bottle of distilled water and the reading was the same as in air exactly what it should have been. There is no way for me to determine the absolute accuracy of the readings, but it serves my purpose quite well. It is small enough to take with me when I travel to test the local water quality. Of course, some mineral content in water is perfectly fine, but since I cannot determine which minerals are safe is, I just go for the lowest mineral content reading I can find.

When I first received this item it did not work. After writing my first review I was contacted to resolve my problem. I was sent new batteries and the product works fine.

Please ignore my first review.

One of the reviewers is confused. This tester tells you nothing about safety or purity of the water. It measures TDS (Total Dissolved solids), the amount of minerals etc that are dissolved in the water. It tells you nothing about purity. I use one for testing the efficacy of my reverse osmosis filtration system. When the water coming out of the RO filter does not have at least 95% fewer TDS than the water going in it is time to change the RO filter membrane.

I''d heard about this water tester from my parents. We have an Everpure ROM system that we''ve suspected wasn''t up to snuff in terms of filtering the water coming out of our drinking water faucet in the kitchen. My parents had gotten a system installed and I guess were pointed at this tester to test the water after the installation.

I got the tester and tried it out against a number of samples. I checked the regular tap water (we''re in Los Angeles so the water quality is okay but not in any way perfect) and it seems our filters are barely better than the tap. Fun. Tap was at around 180 on the meter (ppm). The "filtered" faucet was 160. At least it was doing something.

I did some additional checks against bottled water testing against Arrowhead (bulk mineral), Dasani (purified) and a bottle of Voss (not-so-bulk mineral) my wife picked up at a restaurant. As you''d expect, Dasani was at zero (it''s just purified tap essentially). Arrowhead was at round 60 and Voss was at 40-ish as I recall.

I guess it''s time to buy some new filters!

The device itself is easy to use (just uncap, press the on/off button, and dip the tip in the water sample). You''ll get an instant reading. Just remove, dry off (or flick-dry) and press the on/off button again.

The only real downside to this tester is that it really just does one thing: tests dissolved solids. So, if all you care about is how well your water filter is working? You''re set here. Otherwise, if you need pH or water temp, you''ll have to look elsewhere.

I had always suspected that our tap water was not that healthy--it tastes hideous. This little gadget pretty much confirmed my suspicions.

For each of the following waters I did three tests. According to the back of the instructions, "000" is the "cleanest water".

Faucet Tap Water = 257, 254, 254

Evian Water = 182, 184, 187

Fiji Water = 91, 90, 93

Nestle PureLife = 51, 50, 50

As you can see the readings were very consistent, even if you bounced around from one water to another.

As far as taste (I tasted all the waters after each measurement), the higher the ppm (parts per million) the "thicker" the water seemed. Which of course makes sense because there are more "things" in it.

But if one wants to argue that the closer the water is to 0ppm, the better it tastes, I''d have to disagree. For example, my favorite water is Evian (with Fiji a close second). So I think another important factor is "What is making up those particles?" in your "Parts Per Million" reading.

So with all that being said, I would advise against using this product solely to determine "quality" of water, but it could tell you if a filter is working or not (which is how I intend to use it once my water filter arrives).

Bought this shower filter because the apartment I just moved into has water that smells like rotten eggs, not cool! But this shower head does an amazing job reducing the smell, it is still there slightly, but like a million billion times better then it was before! The pressure is better then the shower head that was on there, so no complaints...and the massage is not so hard that it hurts. There are 2 settings, massage and regular shower, which I was surprised and happy about. When I first was ordering this filter I didn''t know whether to get the massaging head or the other one, but I am happy with my decision! Would definitely recommend this product.

I purchased this for the over all health of my family. I have noticed the water smells better and my hair is softer. It only took a few minutes to install. I plan on purchasing another one without the shower head for my other bathroom. Some people have stated in their reviews that the water pressure from this one actually hurt them but this hasn''t been the case with my family.

I bought this product for the health of my skin and hair, and on those terms it has worked excellently. It filters the water, and I have noticed an increase in luster of my hair and skin. My only complaint is this: although it provides great, strong water pressure, it kinda hurts lol. I suppose I have gotten used to it, but the next time I purchase a shower filter, I will spend the extra money for a nice, soft, massaging one. This is really a good product for your hair and skin, but only if you can handle the slight sting of the water flow.

I originally bought this filter to promote overall family health. We also use the bath ball for the kids. I did notice with the first one we bought that the water pressure increased substantially and it was a little too hard hitting for my wife and I. What worked well for us, and what also prompted me to continue using this product, is that all we had to do was turn on the faucet at half power. The water came out with less pressure, yet plenty hard enough for a great shower, and we also use less water while showering. Turned out to be pretty darn efficient. I just bought another today. Filters the water wonderfully, no more dry skin.

I purchased a Culligan WSH-C125 shower head before this one but after doing some research I found out the filter should have KDF media in it.

My cousin works at a water plant and had my water tested with Crystal Quest. The chlorine levels were extremely high. The filter was not doing anything. Culligan''s test was way better.

I am now looking for a pre-charcoal filter.
