I have waited more than 3 months to review this tea kettle because I have bought so many in the past and written a rave review after just a couple weeks, only to have it break on me shortly thereafter. In fact, I''m still a bit afraid that if I write this review I will jinx my good luck with this tea kettle.

I bought the Krups kettle because of it''s name, because I''ve heard that Krups products are good quality. It was a bit more expensive than other tea kettles out there, but after having bought 3 cheap ones in the past couple years that have broken down on me, I decided it was worth it to spend a bit more.

The design of the Krups kettle is pretty slick and it works very well. I''ve had problems in the past with the pop-up lid breaking, but this one has a nice smooth design that seems impossible to break. You can see the water levels through the semi-transparent blue and it has a nice swivel base. The water boils quickly, just as one would hope.

The only negative about this tea kettle is that you can only lift it by the handle after it has boiled because the metal part gets very hot. It took some getting used to for me because in the past, with my plastic kettles, I would sometimes pick it up with two hands, one on the handle and one on the kettle itself, so the first few times I used this one I burned myself. However, by now I''ve gotten used to it and don''t think about it at all.

There was a "new kettle taste" in the water that lasted a bit longer than with other kettles, but of course after more than 3 months it is totally gone.

I hope this kettle will last me a long time! I''m very pleased with it and would recommend it.

Have been using this kettle for about six weeks now and we are very pleased with it. The appearance is nicely finished and the blue light effect when heating is appealing. It has enough capacity to fill a 10 cup teapot and pours nicely without spilling. More importantly, it is quick to bring water to a rolling boil and quiet. Definitely worth the slight premium price over other products.

We bought this product in March and immediately one of the two blue lights shorted out. In about four months it began to rust inside (bottom) and is almost destroyed now.

Poor quality, poorly made and designed. I will not buy Krups again.

I bought this about a year ago to replace my Braun. Everything the reviews say are true, it''s gorgeous and stylish. The lid does fall off sometimes, but it doesn''t bother me. The water tastes great. It does leak if you overfill it. And because it is meta;, it does get very hot, so you have to be careful not to touch the body but only the handle. But this is true for all of the stainless pots. One fine day, it just stopped working, and it was not abused in any way. (The contact between the base and the pot stopped working). My conclusion, this is poor quality and I don''t recommend buying it. Too bad! So beautiful!

It does a nice job filtering tap water but it doesn''t work instantly. I find it tastes better if I let the water sit for a few hours before I drink it. The mouth of the bottle is a perfect size, slightly bigger than my Sigg. The shape of the bottle is cool and I''ve gotten a lot of compliments on it. I''ve also been asked questions like, "Is that a bong?" and "Is that a floating turd in your water?" After 2 weeks of use, there are pieces of the charcoal floating around in it, so I have to dump out that batch of water and start over. I think I''ll just start leaving it in the fridge so my boyfriend will drink out of it instead of putting his mouth on the brita pitcher.

I''ve been using Bobbles for a couple of years now, and I love the idea of a water bottle with a built-in filter. That said, I''ve never loved the squirt bottle style. Enter the Black+Blum bottle! It has the built-in filter with a wide mouth to drink from.

Seriously. I can''t take this bottle out of my bag without someone talking about it and wanting one. My yoga instructor even asked me (during class) where I got it.

I don''t have much to say about its filtration capabilities. I did fill it with tap water once and left it in the fridge overnight, and the water did taste better. But honestly, I usually put filtered water in it! I do, however, travel for work and when I do, I usually bring an empty water bottle with me to fill in the drinking fountain (yeah, I''m hardcore). So this bottle will be perfect for those circumstance where I can''t get filtered water.

The one little thing that was a little annoying is the metal clip on the top came off the bottle a few times. I had to tighten it by squeezing the two sides together and re-fastening it to the top. Hard to explain if you don''t have one. But it seems to have fixed the issue, so no big deal.

This filter is a good idea and fairly priced, however the fittings that thread into each end are poorly manufactured and thought out. The 1" NPT pipe fitting has to be screwed in to rubber washers on each end, no the directions don''t say this there are no directions included, after several trial and error attempts I found one side needed two washers and the other side needed three, there were five washers included. The supplied fittings are for 1" NPT fittings to be threaded in, I used PEX fittings with teflon tape and they both leaked. No amount of tightening would stop the leaks, they were really tight too. I finally took them out, cleaned off the tape and put red Loctite on them and let them dry over night, problem solved, no leaks at the fittings. I already had to replace one of the O rings on the filter as is was cut from the factory, I found the bad O ring before I Installed the filters after taking their wrappers off. There isn''t anything to hold them in place and you have to very carefull they don''t slip out of place when you screw the cartridge back on. The filter seems to work fine, but it''s like a lot of stuff from China, second rate. You can make it work if you really want to. I think I''d pass next time though.

Once I got this product installed I really like it regarding water quality. The assembly instructions were very bad and there were extra washers in the pack that we didn''t know what to do with. My buddy has been a plumber for many years and we continued to agree and disagree on what to do with the extra washers etc. We threaded it on several times with two washer and then with one until we settled on what we felt would work... we were lucky and the unit did not leak so I feel we guessed accurately. Putting this thing together should be a very easy thing to do without much previous knowledge. The lack of directions and extra parts actually made it worse. If we had used our common sense rather than try to follow directions it would have been done much sooner... that all being said the worse thing about this product is installing the filters. You have to line the filter up with the center bottom of the glass tube and the center of the base unit... when you thread the glass tube up inside the unit the filter falls to one side forcing it to be not aligned... It takes about 10-15 trys per filter to get it to sit in the center and thread the bowl on... about put me over the edge. I guess I will have to deal with that every six months. My friend has more patience than me and that helped. You might need a six pack to calm your nerves first.

Bottom line,

1) very poor directions

2) Extra parts you end up needing after throwing away directions and doing it the way you feel best.

3) Filter alignment issues that will make you crazy.

4) Very good price

5) Very good water

It only took us a couple of hours to install. Had to redirect plumbing and add shutoff valves on both sides plus I added a bypass valve to eliminate if I didnt like it. Wish my outside hose bibs were on separate lines. They were not in my house so I have filtered water to clean cars and water garden... not best case and will eventually rerun these lines. If building a new house make sure those lines outside hose bibs are dedicated lines so you can separate them and only filter inside water.

Once it is installed you only have to deal with it every six months. Invite a patient friend over for a beer.

I would have given this a 5 star but I had to prep it a little when I received! Everything comes in 1 box, inside the box there are 2 filters (individually packed in bubble wrap and it''s own small box), the spigot (wrapped in it''s own plastic bag), 2 socks (not protected), 2 rubber bands and a small tri-fold booklet with instructions! With that said the only con I can say is that the actual ceramic filters were not in an airtight waterproof bag of somekind, meaning that if the box got a good soaking the filters would start purifying the water they were sitting in! So I took them out of their boxes, took off the bubble wrap and placed them both in ziplock bags and replaced back in larger box in which they came! I also placed the 2 socks, 2 rubber bands and instruction booklet in a ziplock bag and pushed all the air out! Now I think they''re are a lot more protected if the worst were to happen!! This is my first time dealing with whole house filters (we recently moved to this house). When replacing, the bottom ring of the filter fell off, it''s still in the housing and while the filter is inside it''s kind of in place, but when I have to replace the filter again, it''ll take some force to remove that ring from the bottom of the housing.. In this house we have well water, so the pressure is lower, and I don''t know if I''m right, but I think that after installing this filter the water pressure is even lower.. Before this filter the housing had a sediment rope-like filter, so may be there is a difference in pressure. I don''t have any problems with water taste, so I guess the filter is doing its job. In my area there are a lot of calcium in the water, so I still get a lot of calcifications inside my tea kettle.. I do have a water softening system and trying to figure out if its working right.. it''s my next project )))

This was a great filter in the fact that it greatly reduces dirt, bacteria, etc. However, it also greatly reduced our water pressure. We couldn''t run water in two places at once. You couldn''t even flush the toilet and wash your hands at the same time! If you are looking for very clean water and don''t care about pressure, then this filter will work for you. We just value our high pressure showers too much!

When I first looked at this model 3 years ago, I saw lots of reviews touting its ability to brew at the correct temperature. I didn''t see this mentioned in recent reviews, so I am putting it back in. I noticed an improvement in the deliciousness of my morning cup immediately, and so did the husband.

I don''t understand how anyone could have a problem positioning the carafe. If the lid is on correctly (a simple snap), the bowl molded into the lid seats the carafe by design.

Also not seeing any signs of leaks. It''s much easier to fill than the Cuisinart 1200 that died 2 weeks after the warranty expired, and has both a water gauge to check the water level (although the displayed amount seems to vary depending from which angle I view it). and a removable water basket that you can fill at the sink.

The only thing I would tweak is the programming. It''s easy to program, but it''s a little on the slow side. When you hold sdown the time advance button, it proceeds to cycle through the quarter hours at a stately pace. The timing is fine tuned by pressing and releasing the button, which advances it a minute at a time. Because it takes so long to cycle, say, from 7 am to 6:23 am, it''s easy to be distracted, miss the 6:15 and wind up having to cycle through again.

I was not dissuaded by the negative reviews, and am glad of it.

I am told by the US distributor that its water filters are identical to the Hamilton Beach 80674 and the deLonghi KW696196. NOw that I know I am going to keep the machine, I have ordered a dozen, and they are at the moment back-ordered. They come with or without the filter holder that keeps it in place. The filter and holder together are about $16, plus or minus $2, the individual filters considerably less.

I live in central Florida and the water here is horribly hard and tastes terrible. I have owned this system before and was very happy with it''s performance so when I built a new home I purchased the same system. Lime deposits are virtually eliminated and the filtered water is refreshing and has little or no taste the way pure water is suppose to taste. Installation can be easy but the manufacturer only supplys connecting hardware for one type of connection so you may have to buy hardware as I did to install it under the sink into the existing water supply. I found all the hardware I needed at the Home Depot so it didn''t take anything special. I installed this system to city water, I can not say how it would perform with well water.

My drain problem was a totally stopped up bathtub on the 2nd. flr. I had to bail out the tub after each shower. I applied Green Gobbler to the drain and ran some water to hopefully reach the clog. It took several days and several applications but it did the trick. It''s not magic and it took persistance but it worked using a product that is less harmful than others. On the down side, my porcelain tub got some minor etching from the treated, standing water. A acceptable trade-off for me. A possible solution would be to avoid treated puddles sitting in porcelain for any length of time. I will use this product again and recommend it.

The product uses anhydrous sodium bisulfate, i.e. sulfuric acid with some sodium bolted on. Mix it with alcohol and you have sulfuric acid. Don''t ever mix this with alcohol. Also read the toxicity and exposure sections. Dry powder is a lovely way to store this....I hate this "Green" tag anything gets and it just gets a pass.

I used this powdered drain cleaner exactly as directed by the product''s manufacturer on two different drains, one a kitchen sink and the other a bathtub. The purpose of it''s use was simply as maintenance as both were draining albeit a touch slow. In both cases it created a complete blockage. It was like I was using a stopper as no water whatsoever would drain. I resorted to buying and using a snake to clear the blockages created by this powder. Never again.
